18 People Who Are in Line For the Presidency If Trump Is Impeached
If you're suddenly curious as to who becomes president in case President Donald Trump resigns, dies, or is impeached, take a look at the 18 people in line for succession. Called the Presidential Succession Act, the law has a long history of changes, with the last one taking place in 2006.
The first iteration of the Presidential Succession Act in 1792 stated the Senate president pro tempore would be next in line after the vice president. On July 18, 1947, President Harry Truman signed the Presidential Succession Act of 1947. This act changed the line of succession in two ways; first it reinstated the Senate president pro tempore and speaker of the House to the succession plan. Secondly, it also placed the speaker of the House right after the vice president instead of the Senate president pro tempore. The last change to the act came in 2006, when the USA Patriot Improvement and Reauthorization Act of 2005 added the secretary of Homeland Security to the list.
In Trump's administration, here's the full line of succession.
- Vice President Mike Pence
- Speaker of the House Paul Ryan
- Senate President Pro Tempore Orrin Hatch
- Secretary of State Rex Tillerson
- Secretary of the Treasury Steven Mnuchin
- Secretary of Defense James Mattis
- Attorney General Jeff Sessions
- Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke
- Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue
- Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross
- Secretary of Labor Alexander Acosta
- Secretary of Health and Human Services Tom Price
- Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Ben Carson
- Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao
- Secretary of Energy Rick Perry
- Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos
- Secretary of Veterans Affairs David Shulkin
- Secretary of Homeland Security John Kelly
The only caveat here is that Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao isn't eligible since she was born in Taipei, Taiwan, and is therefore not a US-born citizen. While it's still uncertain whether or not we'll need to refer to this list in the future, at least we know who we can expect.
Dad Has His Twins Act Out The Shining in Hotels to Freak People Out
Love making my girls do this in hotels to shit people up, makes the grief of having twins worthwhile. http://pic.twitter.com/n4spPDHX96
- Wefail (@wefail) March 9, 2017
Martin Hughes has come up with a prank that manifests itself as the ultimate dad joke: he makes his twin daughters act out The Shining in hotels to freak people out. Hughes tweeted a photo of his girls standing still in a hotel hallway holding hands with the caption: "Love making my girls do this in hotels to sh*t people up, makes the grief of having twins worthwhile."
According to Hughes, he's been cooking up prank ideas, especially this one, since he and his partner found out they were having twins. "As soon as we found out we were having identical twins I thought The Shining," he told BuzzFeed News. "As they've gotten older and we can travel and stay in hotels, it was a given that I'd get them to stand holding hands in the hallway for a joke."
Although the girls look fairly different from the actors in the movie, they've totally freaked a few people out already. "They're too young to leave there to spook people directly, but when we've had them do the pose then stood back and someone's turned the corner they've gasped and gone a little green," he said. "I jokingly taught them 'Come and play with us' not long ago and now they do it around the house while holding hands and standing still. They're going to love Halloween in a couple of years."

No, White Friend - You Weren't "Embarrassed" by Barack Obama
The following story, "No, White Friend - You Weren't 'Embarrassed' by Barack Obama," was originally published on JohnPavlovitz.com.
I remember the day after the Election, a friend of mine who happens to be white, remarked on social media that he "finally wasn't embarrassed of America and our President."
I sprained my eyes rolling them and they have never fully recovered.
Since then I've heard this sentiment echoed by more white folks than I can count, especially in recent months; supposed relief at once again having a leader who instills pride.
Since I don't have the time to ask each of the individually, I'll ask here:
So, you were embarrassed for the past 8 years, huh?
Really?
What exactly were you embarrassed by?
Were you embarrassed by his lone and enduring twenty-five year marriage to a strong woman he's never ceased to publicly praise, respect, or cherish?
Were you embarrassed by the way he lovingly and sweetly parented and protected his daughters?
Were you embarrassed by his Columbia University degree in Political Science or his graduating magna cum laude from Harvard Law School?
Maybe you were embarrassed by his white American and Black Kenyan parents, or the diversity he was raised in as normal?
Were you embarrassed by his eloquence, his quick wit, his easy humor, his seeming comfort meeting with both world leaders and street cleaners; by his bright smile or his sense of empathy or his steadiness - perhaps by his lack of personal scandals or verbal gaffes or impulsive tirades?
No. Of course you weren't.
Honestly, I don't believe you were ever embarrassed. That word implies an association that brings ridicule, one that makes you ashamed by association, and if that's something you claim to have experienced over the past eight years by having Barack Obama representing you in the world - I'm going to suggest you rethink your word choice.
You weren't "embarrassed" by Barack Obama.
You were threatened by him.
You were offended by him.
You were challenged by him.
You were enraged by him.
But I don't believe it had anything to do with his resume or his experience or his character or his conduct in office - because you seem fully proud right now to be associated with a three-time married, serial adulterer and confessed predator; a man whose election and business dealings and relationships are riddled with controversy and malfeasance. You're perfectly fine being represented by a bullying, obnoxious, genitalia-grabbing, Tweet-ranting, Prime Minister-shoving charlatan who's managed to offend all our allies in a few short months. And you're okay with him putting on religious faith like a rented, dusty, ill-fitting tuxedo and immediately tossing it in the garbage when he's finished with it.
None of that you're embarrassed of? I wonder how that works.
Actually, I'm afraid I have an idea. I hope I'm wrong.
Listen, you're perfectly within your rights to have disagreed with Barack Obama's policies or to have taken issue with his tactics. No one's claiming he was a flawless politician or a perfect human being. But somehow I don't think that's what we're talking about here. I think the thing President Obama did that really upset you, white friend - was having a complexion that was far darker than you were ever comfortable with. I think the President we have now feels much better.
Because objectively speaking, if what's happening in our country right now doesn't cause you great shame and doesn't induce the continual meeting of your palm to your face - I don't believe embarrassment is ever something you struggle with.
No, if you claimed to be "embarrassed" by Barack Obama but you're not embarrassed by Donald Trump - I'm going to strongly suggest it was largely a pigmentation issue.
And as an American and a Christian committed to diversity and equality and to the liberty at the heart of this nation - that, embarrasses me.

Huda Kattan Just Released a Set of 4 Mini Nude Liquid Lipsticks
Oh, babies! Huda Kattan just took four of her wildly popular nude liquid lipsticks and made them into a set of minis. The Nude Love Set ($33) includes four neutrals that will easily fit into your evening clutches. These are must-pack items for Summer weddings since they seriously don't budge!
To recap, the shades are all named after "lustful nude characters." Crush is described as a "peachy nude with pink accents," Wifey is a "delicate pinkish nude," Sugar Mamma is "a sweet peachy nude," and Girlfriend is a "light apricot nude."
After Huda announced the release on Instagram, people got pretty excited. In fact, this will probably go down in history as the most excited people ever got over unsolicited nudes. Over 89,000 comments flooded in, with one user writing, "Thank you for understanding that nudes come in brown also." So there you have it, cosmetics brands, take it from your top influencer: "nude" isn't just one color.

25+ New Ways to Wear Jean Shorts This Summer
If your favorite part about Summer isn't getting to wear denim shorts every day, then you are missing out on a lot. There's something to be said about the essential versatile piece that can take you from the beach to drinks out with the girls without a problem. If you find the right pair, you can even sneak them into your Summer work wardrobre. Seriously!
If you look ahead, you'll find more than 25 outfit ideas, straight from your favorite Latina bloggers, to shamelessly steal this season. But before you can put those looks together, there are a few things you need to keep in mind when it comes to jean cutoffs.
- Choose your denim color wisely. Jean shorts don't come in just one shade, and this is a blessing in disguise. Darker or black washes can really help dress up an outfit, while whites or pastels will make for great boardwalk outfits.
- A blouse instead of a t-shirt can make an outfit. If the goal is to spend the evening on a patio enjoying happy hour with friends, you're going to want to opt for a blouse or nice top, which will really dress up the shorts in an instant.
- Don't understimate the power of heels. Optical illusions are what the Summer heat is made for. Pairing your shorts with heels or wedges will make you have mile-long legs. Can you say winning?
- Jackets and long sleeves are not only OK, but encouraged. The great part about jean shorts is that they can also be a transition piece. If you're on the East Coast, Spring comes and goes as it pleases; consider long sleeves or jackets paired with shorts your backup plan for unexpected chilly days.
- White tees and jean shorts never go out of style. They're a safe bet and what you should reach for when tight on time. You can dress up the look with a cute bag or your favorite jewelry.

This Bride Wed in a Civil Ceremony, Then Took Our Breath Away in a Royal Wedding Gown
Prince Ernst of Hanover and designer Ekaterina Malysheva wed quietly in a civil ceremony on Thursday; but that was just the beginning. Following the City Hall wedding, the bride and groom celebrated with a royal wedding - and Ekaterina had the dress to prove it.
The Russian designer behind the label EKAT, gave us Kate Middleton vibes in a lace, long-sleeved gown with a mile-long train and embroidered veil. It's easy to see the similarities between Ekaterina's look and the duchess's dress silhouette; though there's one striking difference. Look closely at the dress and you'll notice pearl embellishments throughout, giving allover sparkle with breathtaking effects. The finishing touch on this royal wedding look? A shimmering tiara, naturally.

I Grew Up With 2 Moms, and I Wouldn't Change a Thing
They may not know it, but my mom and stepmom make an amazing team. I know it sounds crazy - that two women on the opposite sides of a failed marriage could be on a "team" of any kind, let alone a winning one. They probably think that they're barely getting by in the wild world of parenthood, struggling to make the right choices day by day while raising my little brother and me . . . but to be honest, they're kicking ass. I can say without question that my two mothers are now counted among my best friends, and I consider myself lucky to have grown up with double the moms in my life.
My Stepmom
After my parents' divorce, I was very wary of stepmothers. Growing up watching movies like The Parent Trap, Cinderella, and Snow White, how could I not be scared of the future that awaited my little brother and me? So when my dad decided that the time to introduce us to his new girlfriend was long overdue, I was on my guard - imagine my shock when I hit it off with the athletic, cheerful young woman who made my dad incredibly happy. However much I liked her, though, I was fiercely protective of my little family and made it known.
I was defensive of my mother's role in my life, and I made it known that no stepmom was ever going to replace her. Luckily for me, mine never tried. On the many occasions when I rudely asserted that I didn't need another mom, my stepmother responded kindly, assuring me that her role was "co-mama." Not mom. Not dad's wife. Rather, she was there to support our family as a loving coparent. To this day, I can't imagine a better way to put my stubborn little mind at ease. When my dad and stepmom got married, I not only gained a cool new co-mama in my life . . . I also gained a whole new family of grandparents, cousins, aunts, and uncles who love me like one of their own. I can't imagine life without them.
I've heard many stories of stepparents who are distant, uninvolved, and have no investment in their stepchild's life. That was never the case for my stepmom - she encouraged me to pursue my dreams. When I wanted to study fashion design, she bought fashion magazines for my rudimentary mood boards and even managed to find a dress-form mannequin in my exact size. When I switched gears to focus on writing, she read countless stories that never made it past the first chapter.
I ended up focusing on nonfiction writing as a career, but without her encouragement during these early stages I doubt I would have had the courage to pursue such an "impractical" occupation. She screamed when I got accepted into my dream college, jumping around with me in the hallways of our house. When I landed my job at POPSUGAR, she was so excited for me that she cried. My stepmother has always been one of my biggest cheerleaders, and I will never be able to thank her enough for it.
My Mom
Don't even get me started on my mom. You know Lorelai Gilmore? If you could combine her with Mrs. Incredible (aka Elastigirl from The Incredibles), you'd get my mom. She's one of the hardest workers I've ever known, possesses a fierce independence that would put Beyoncé to shame, and values her kids above all else. While many women dread inheriting characteristics from their mothers, I'd be lucky to become more like mine. She taught me how to love without holding back, live a life that I'm proud of, and form relationships worth keeping.
Over the 21 years that she's raised me, my mom has worked her butt off. Long hours of exhausting tasks and heaps of responsibility awaited her at the office every day, but somehow she always put on an energetic smile for my brother and me. During the few months since I graduated and entered the workforce, my already high regard for her has increased a hundredfold - I get eight hours of sleep per night and still feel sluggish when I arrive home from work! She's always been determined not to let her personal struggles affect her parenting, and despite everything from financial woes to health scares she's succeeded. If she ever felt threatened by another mother's presence in my life, I never knew it!
It seems that every spare moment of my mom's life is spent connecting with her kids through the activities that matter to us. For my little brother, that means many late nights spent poring over football strategies, creating sports-team rosters, and baking enough snacks to feed an entire mountain-biking team. When I still lived in the house, it usually meant picking through stacks of used books at musty bookstores or picking up burritos for marathon nights of Lost. My brother and I are vastly different people, but my mom managed to value and connect with us equally.
I wasn't the most obedient or respectful teenager, but my mom persevered and loved me anyway - and I'm thankful that my rebellious days are over, because now I can talk to her about anything. She's spoken more words of prayer for me than are written in 10 copies of War and Peace - I'm sure of it. If you collected the tears she's shed for me during times of heartbreak and distress, they would fill a fish tank. I can call my mom anytime for an attentive ear and compassionate advice, and she's still always game for Thai food and Netflix binges. It would never embarrass me to call her my best friend.
The "Team"
My mom and stepmom may not know they're a team, but for 14 years they have been. From tackling tough issues to getting me through college, they've collaborated peacefully and admirably in ways that most divorced families couldn't fathom. They have worked so hard to keep any stress out of our households - for every "serious" discussion, they (and my dad, of course!) would reserve a room at the local library to hash things out, allowing me and my brother to enjoy time with friends instead of overhear potentially concerning financial talk.
This type of thoughtfulness and cooperative concern for the kids was the norm in my childhood, and I'm so lucky for it. My two mother figures worked hard to coparent without any drama, which is sadly quite uncommon in the world of divorced families. My birthdays were celebrated with all three of my parents present, enjoying one another's company without any harsh words spoken. When I graduated both high school and college, both moms sat together in the audience. I got to look out at the commencement onlookers and see the most important women in my life smile back - a privilege that I'll never forget.
Looking back on a childhood of shared birthday parties, peaceful transitions between the houses, and open communication between sets of parents, I don't know if my two mothers even know how great of a job they've done. Between the two of them, I've never gone without a shoulder to cry on, good advice, or a loving hug. My unlikely team of moms is a winning one, and I've been indescribably blessed to call them mine.
Preserve Your Fruit at Its Peak Freshness and Make It Last Forever
Although mason jars have been repurposed as vessels for craft beer and Vietnamese iced coffee in trendy neighborhoods, they have not become any less effective at preserving fresh fruit. This excerpt from Ball Canning: Back to Basics ($10) walks you through the process of canning fruit. These straightforward, step-by-step instructions will guarantee professional results no matter which fruit you want to store.
Tips:
- Choose fruit that is bruise- and blemish-free at the peak of freshness.
- You may also use a dishwasher to wash and heat the jars.
You will need:
- Tested recipe and ingredients
- Glass preserving jars with lids and bands (always start with new lids)
- Water bath canner or a large, deep stockpot with lid and rack
- Jar lifter
- Common kitchen utensils, including measuring cups and spoons, large ladle, kitchen towel, and rubber spatula
- Large stainless-steel or enameled saucepan or Dutch oven
- Bubble remover and headspace measuring tool
- Labels
To begin:
- Heat jars: Examine the jars for defects. Place a canning rack at the bottom of the canner and fill halfway with water. Place the jars in and bring the water almost to a simmer over medium. Important: Keep the jars hot until ready to fill to prevent jar breakage. Wash lids and bands in warm soapy water, rinse, and set aside.
- Prep: Prepare the chosen fruit according to the recipe. Prepare the syrup, if using. Bring the sugar, or alternate sweetener, and water to a boil in a stainless-steel saucepan, stirring to dissolve. Reduce heat; cover and keep hot until needed. (Do not allow the liquid to evaporate.)
You Can Have S'mores For Breakfast Thanks to Honey Maid's New Cereal!
It might not be socially acceptable to eat traditional s'mores for breakfast, but now it's possible to eat them in the form of cereal! Post's new Honey Maid S'mores cereal has basically made all of our childhood dreams come true with this campfire-inspired breakfast filled with chocolaty flavors, crunchy marshmallow pieces (like those found in Lucky Charms), and bits of golden cereal made with the taste of Honey Maid graham crackers. It's basically a bunch of crushed-up s'mores, minus the mess of melted marshmallows, and we have a feeling this will satisfy our s'mores cravings for breakfast and dessert. The cereal will start rolling out to Walmart shelves this month and will be available at grocers nationwide in the coming months, and you can use the Post store locator to find a location close to you. Between the introduction of this s'mores cereal and the comeback of Post's Oreo O's, we might not ever go back to "regular" cereal again, and we're totally OK with that.

Why Kelly Clarkson's Response to a Body-Shamer Online Is "F*cking Awesome"
In addition to be exceedingly talented, Kelly Clarkson also happens to be a body-positive champion and a skilled social-media user. The singer recently responded to a malicious body-shaming Twitter user in a glorious way that both defended her point of view and didn't take the overall situation too seriously.
On July 4, Kelly took the time to thank soldiers and veterans with a thoughtful tweet. Shortly thereafter, a user responded to her tweet by saying, "You're fat." Yes, really. Though we would have understood if she had blown up, Kelly went a different route. In response, she noted that she's "still f*cking awesome" - despite this internet troll telling her that she's "fat."
....and still fucking awesome 😜 https://t.co/LvFgIITaTX
- Kelly Clarkson (@kelly_clarkson) July 5, 2017
Her defiant tweet has since racked up over 3,000 retweets and 18,000 "likes," at press time. In addition to shutting down the body-shamer, Kelly also gave us something to look forward to and teased that new music from her would be coming "soon."
An Open Letter to the Lifeguard From Moms of 8-Year-Olds Everywhere
Dear Lifeguard,
As you have probably noticed, this is the first Summer that all three of my children are able to swim independently. It may have been obvious by the fact that we're all lined up like teenagers at a Rolling Stones concert waiting for the front pool gates to open, or by the stack of gossip magazines and discarded single-serve plastic bottles of RumChata littered around my lounge chair at closing time.
Either way, let's have a little talk.
I'm going to put it to you straight. I've put in eight long years of hard time to get to this point, and now I'm done. I'm passing the baton. It's all you, buddy.
It's been eight years of swimming lessons. And not the cushy, fancy swimming lessons with heated pools and the ability to change clothes without an audience, either. It's been wet naked me chasing wet naked toddlers through a maze of wet naked wrinkled flesh in the arctic YMCA locker room questioning my life choices and reminding myself that some things are better "in theory."
It's been years of lugging around that big floatie thing that doubles as a coffee table, then years of packing life jackets, then years of packing arm floaties, then years of packing all three. Do you have any idea what it's like to drag all of that crap around? I was like a real-life, walking, cursing coat rack.
And then when it came time to actually get into that godforsaken ice tray you call a pool, all four of us were attached together like a freaking chain gang, me shivering my butt off as I was more often than not caught in the crossfires of a teenage game of splash. Watching, slack-jawed and teary-eyed, the other moms on the lounge chairs who had crossed the finish line to aquatic freedom. Moms able to sit back and hold a conversation, whose kids could busy themselves searching for dive sticks and jumping off the board and going to the bathroom by themselves.
"Someday that'll be me," I whispered to my red-faced baby as I watched her grunt and fill her swim diaper to maximum capacity.
Now here's the part where you come in. I'm out. You're in. Suit up and hop off the bench, because the coach is calling you up. You are now responsible for keeping my children alive so that they can one day repay my eight years of favors by wiping my ass in the nursing home.
You, yes, you - the barely teenager making minimum wage wearing a hemp necklace and staring into space at nothing at all, most likely mentally running through your favorite pizza toppings in order of most to least protein.
Listen - it took a lot of blood, sweat, and nipples capable of cutting glass for me to get them out of floaties and onto the diving board. I've earned my spot in this lounge chair with my book three times over. One of us is going to have to be responsible for my kids in that pool, and it's not going to be me. Imma be super busy over here reading my rags and sunning my mams.
So please, pretty please with sugar on top - look alive. Like, literally. The majority of the time you're up there, I wonder if I need to hold a mirror under that nose. We would all appreciate it if you could just, for a few hours, pretend to be interested in something other than the hotties your own age sunbathing in the corner.
Sincerely,
Moms of 8-Year-Olds Everywhere
PS It was my kid who pooped in the pool six years ago. In my defense, she had been potty trained for over 36 hours and I had no idea that the effects of canned ravioli would be so intense. Sorry about that - please don't hold it against me.

How to Fry French Fries With Only 1 Teaspoon of Oil
I'm a fairly new owner of a Philips Airfryer (bacon that is simultaneously crispy and chewy is my specialty), and I had heard mixed reviews about making french fries in the trendy kitchen gadget. However, I had to know if the airfryer could possibly yield deliciously crisp, fresh french fries or if I'm destined to live off of frozen fries for the rest of my life. It turns out that airfryer french fries may be even better than deep-fried ones, but there are a few secrets you must abide by so you have a perfect batch every time.
Know Your Macros: White vs. Dark Meat Turkey
Is white meat turkey healthier? That depends on how you look at it. Let's first look at the macros: compared to dark meat, it's essentially identical in protein, and both have zero carbohydrates. White meat is lower in fat, with less than one gram per serving in the skinless variety, while dark meat has three to four more grams of fat per serving. It's a small difference but more noticeable if you're watching your fat intake or limiting your calories (as you'll see below). Slight differences, but they can add up if you're eating a lot of turkey!
| TYPE OF MEAT | CALORIES | FAT (G) | CARBS (G) | PROTEIN (G) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| White meat, no skin | 135 | <1 | 0 | 30 |
| White meat, with skin | 153 | 3 | 0 | 29 |
| Dark meat, no skin | 162 | 4 | 0 | 29 |
| Dark meat, with skin | 193 | 7 | 0 | 29 |
In terms of micronutrients, dark meat has a bit of an edge. It's got two and a half times as many omega-3s and three times as many omega-6s. It has more calcium, iron, folate, and riboflavin, but light meat has more niacin, magnesium, and vitamin B6.
So which is healthier? It really depends on your goals and your own diet. If you prefer the taste of dark meat, go for it! It's rich in nutrients and mood-boosting omega-3s that'll help you feel good. Cutting calories and watching fat? Opt for white meat. You'll get a little more muscle-relieving, calming magnesium. Either way you look at it, it's a great (and delicious) source of protein.

Alec Baldwin Is That Proud Dad Who Always Posts Pictures of His Kids
Alec Baldwin is known for his crazy and hilarious antics on screen (if you haven't seen his Donald Trump impression on SNL, you haven't lived), but in real life, he's also crazy about his family. In addition to bringing his 21-year-old daughter Ireland, whom he shares with ex Kim Basinger, as his red carpet date from time to time, the actor also loves to post pictures of his three kids with wife Hilaria, sons Rafael and Leonardo and daughter Carmen, on social media. Seriously, he's like one of those dorky, proud dads who is constantly bragging about his kids - and we can't get enough! See some his best family moments ahead.

Celine Dion Wears These Off-the-Runway Looks Better Than the Models Do
Celine Dion has been walking around Paris in straight-off-the-runway ensembles. Normally, that wouldn't be a very big deal for a celebrity. Since she started working with stylist Law Roach, the famous singer has secured countless couture looks, colorful red carpet gowns, and statement pieces (like that Vetements Titanic hoodie that caused quite a stir on the internet).
But Celine's latest outfits have a different vibe. They're undeniably street-cool thanks to labels such as Balmain, Off White c/o Virgil Abloh, and Roberto Cavalli, all of which are favored by models like Bella Hadid and Hailey Baldwin. If you need proof that 49-year-old Celine's taking a page out of the 20-something style handbook, read on and see for yourself.
20 Times Dwayne Johnson's Rock-Hard Muscles Almost Broke Open His Shirt
It's not hard to tell why Dwayne Johnson was named the Sexiest Man Alive in 2016. When the devoted family man and charismatic actor isn't making us melt on screen, he's heating things up in the gym, on the red carpet, on a plane, in a parking lot, etc. While we certainly have a soft spot for The Rock's hard-core abs, he really gets us hot and bothered when he's wearing a formfitting shirt. Whether he's trying to make us weak in the knees on purpose or he simply made a mistake and bought an XXS, we certainly aren't complaining when he slips into tight tees or tank tops to show off his bulging biceps.
Are the Calories in Bananas Worth the Bite?
From smoothies to breads and muffins to all on their own, bananas are a heathy eater's dream food. They also happen to top the list of America's favorite fruits. But unfortunately for this all-natural snack, bananas get a bad rap. Many nutrition experts and trainers talk back and forth about whether bananas are a food to savor or skip. But don't fret - if you love bananas, it's still totally fine to enjoy.
One medium-size banana contains 105 calories with 27 grams of carbs, similar numbers per serving as apples and pears. And though they sometimes are maligned due to the higher amounts of sugar, don't be intimidated. Bananas do contain complex carbohydrates and are also full of potassium and vitamins B-6 and C. Talk to any runner, and they'll tell you that a banana makes a great pre-workout snack (it's a favorite of ultramarathoner Dean Karnazes) because it offers the boost of energy needed to power through a workout without weighing the body down.
Bananas also make for a great healthy substitute when baking or cooking. Supermodel Miranda Kerr's recipe for apple and banana oat muffins uses the natural sugar in the banana, so there's no need to pile on the sweet stuff. It's also a great replacement for butter and oil in breads and other baking recipes.
While bananas are not the lowest-calorie fruit available, there's no harm in enjoying the creamy treat in a smoothie or as part of a delicious dessert; the key is moderation.

We Can All Relate to This Adorable Baby's Mouthwatering Craving For Potato Chips
Is there anything worse than being surrounded by deliciously unhealthy foods when you're on a diet? What about perfectly salted potato chips when you're not old enough to eat solid foods? Well, this precious baby can attest to the latter, and we totally feel his pain. In a video posted on the Kyoot Kids Facebook page, we see this baby simultaneously open his mouth with every single bite his dad takes of potato chips, and it's pretty hilarious. Breyers Is Coming For Halo Top - Does It Taste as Good?
The healthy ice cream market has essentially exploded since Halo Top came onto the scene to shake things up with a low-fat, low-cal, low-sugar, high-protein ice cream. Since then, we've seen numerous brands pop up in the frozen section of grocery stores far and wide, offering a healthier alternative to our favorite frozen treats.
We Got the New Flavors of Halo Top's Healthy Ice Cream (Spoiler Alert: the Cookie Dough Is Insane)
Speaking of "our favorite frozen treats," Breyers ice cream, a true staple in American freezers, is one of those brands you can instantly call to mind when thinking of your childhood dessert (or even yesterday's dessert, honestly). Now, it's modeling new pints after the Halo Top blueprint: high-protein, low-fat, low-calorie ice cream. The brand is not new to healthy alternatives: its No Sugar Added, Lactose Free, Gluten Free!, Non-Dairy, 1/2 the Fat, Fat Free, and CarbSmart options have been in the arsenal for some time now; the new Delights line will be the brand's first protein-centric ice cream.
While most ice creams clock in at a few hundred calories per scoop, these new Delights range from 260 to 330 calories per pint. The calories (and 20 grams of protein) are listed front and center on the pint's label. They'll be available in grocery stores nationwide starting in August, priced around $5 per pint.
So how do they taste? According to our taste-testing colleagues, definitely go for the chocolate and cookies and cream (stellar reviews all around), but maybe skip the mint chip (jury's still out on that one). Let's check it out.

This Photo of Barack Obama Holding a Baby Is the Purest Thing About 2017
Jolene Jackinsky had the chance meeting of a lifetime when she ran into former President Barack Obama at Anchorage International Airport on Monday, July 3. The Alaska native shared the details about her epic encounter with Associated Press. Initially Jackinsky said she thought she saw a man who looked like Barack Obama sitting in the terminal. "As I got closer, I thought: Oh my God, it is Obama," she recalled.
True to his nature, Obama spotted Jackinsky's 6-month-old daughter, Giselle, and walked over to them. "Who is this pretty girl?," he quipped. Not long after, Jackinsky took a selfie with the 44th President who smiled while holding her baby girl wearing the most adorable straw hat with a white ribbon. Jackinsky said she spoke briefly with Obama about how fast children grow up, before Giselle's father joined them. "I'm taking your baby," Obama teased.
"It was a moment that will last forever," Jackinsky said after sharing the photo on her Facebook page. "I think it's unreal and pretty exciting that I get to have a picture with him and my baby. Not a lot of people get to meet him." As if we needed yet another reason to miss Barack Obama, we can add now this cute moment on our list.
In a Bold Style Move, Melania Trump Wore a Flapper Dress to the G20 Summit
Like her husband's policies, Melania Trump's style remains hard to pin down. After a wide-ranging wardrobe from her first couple days in Germany at the G20 Summit, the FLOTUS threw us another curve ball with a white, tiered and fringed Michael Kors dress for a concert on Friday night. She coordinated the look with a pair of sky-high white Christian Louboutins for a look that was downright festive. Perhaps, the whimsical, vintage-feeling, and fun-loving dress was a distraction from the speculation and the protests that have followed the Trumps on their visit. The bold party dress certainly turns heads.
Either way, it's a style move we weren't expecting from Melania, making her First Lady style as unpredictable as the current administration. Take a closer look at the flapper-inspired look here.
This Is What Solved My Extreme Bloating Problem That 4 Doctors Couldn't Figure Out
A lot of things changed when I moved to San Francisco. I was much colder. I bought my first real jacket. I tried Philz Coffee for the first time. I started a new job. And, out of nowhere, my stomach started ballooning arbitrarily throughout the week making me look three-to-six-months pregnant at any given moment, for no apparent reason.
Things that didn't change: my diet, my exercise routine (OK, I started doing a lot more SoulCycle), and my overall health. I wasn't eating more food or less healthy food, so I knew it wasn't weight gain . . . especially when my pregnant-looking belly would mysteriously disappear by morning, and I was back to a flat stomach. But sometime during the day, I'd eat a peach or go to a cardio workout, and BAM: back to bloat. Biiiig bloat. I would snap photos to send to my mom (as you'll see below) because I couldn't believe what was happening to me, and I was horrified.
Try This All-Natural, Painless Treatment to Lose Weight, Boost Metabolism, and Stop Binge Eating
For 11 months, I wasn't comfortable with my body. I couldn't wear fitted clothing (aka, ALL of my activewear), because I knew at some point, my lower abdomen would jet out, and anyone who didn't know me would assume I was with child. I've been so afraid to eat, because I knew that anything could trigger my stomach, from a piece of fruit to a sip of sports drink. Yet then there would be days when I said "eff it!" and ate Cinnamon Toast Crunch and milk, and nothing happened. It made absolutely no sense.
I've never felt more more ashamed of my appearance, or more uncomfortable in my own skin . . . and I'm even ashamed to admit that! My body simply didn't feel like mine. And the worst part was that it didn't seem like there was an explanation or end in sight.
I saw so many doctors and went through so many labs; my initial appointment was to see if it was hormonal. It wasn't. I saw an OB-GYN. I had two ultrasounds. I tried the low-FODMAPS diet (it didn't go well). I had my blood tested for a thyroid imbalance. My doctors were stumped, and I was frustrated to the point of many angry tears.
"For 11 months, I wasn't comfortable with my body . . . I've never felt more more ashamed of my appearance."
Two glimmers of hope seemed to come at once: my doctor referred me to a phenomenal GI, and one of my close friends referred me to an acupuncturist and naturopathic doctor here in the city. Although I had been through so many appointments and tests already with no results, I tried to remain optimistic. And these were still two avenues I hadn't tried!
First up was my acupuncture visit with Dr. Magnolia Ng of Advance Health SF, and then my GI appointment with gastroenterologist, Dr. Daniel Conlin. Two very different doctors from very different backgrounds seemed to know the source immediately: stress. It was the first time anyone had brought up the idea that something mental could trigger such a strong physical reaction, but they both seemed certain. Stress was the one factor that did come into play when I moved. Long-distance move to a new city, new job, new everything equals one stressed out me. I didn't even notice because everything has been so go-go-go.
Dr. Conlin didn't cut any corners in his approach, and he didn't just write me off saying, "you're stressed, just calm down!" and send me on my way after collecting a copay. He tested my blood and breath for celiac, SIBO, h. pylori, IBD, and post-infection bacterial overgrowth (everything came back negative). He asked me to eliminate dairy, despite the fact that he didn't really think I was lactose intolerant. He went through so many avenues, but kept coming back to the idea that it was probably stress-induced. I asked him if I was a "freak case" or if he had seen this in other patients, and he said, "You're definitely not alone; I see this in many young women your age, typically high-achieving, A-type college grads who work here [in San Francisco] in some kind of fast-paced tech or startup company." It was like he read my bio. He knew. I knew. It was stress.
What I appreciated most about Dr. Conlin was his approach to treatment. He said if it was a celiac or SIBO case, he'd have different recommendations, but for me, he thought acupuncture, charcoal tablets, ginger root, and ginger tea, and specifically Align probiotics would be helpful in my treatment (he noted that it's the only brand he recommends, so I went with it). His openness to natural treatment despite coming from a Western background increased my trust in him and made me more comfortable in my health journey.
It was hard to explain to family and friends that stress was causing arbitrary abdominal distention, so I wanted to learn more. Apparently, an influx of stress can upset the microbiome (the ecosystem of good and bad bacteria in your gut, which can influence nearly all areas of your health). I spoke with Amie Valpone, nutritionist and founder of TheHealthyApple.com, who gave me some incredible insight as to what has been happening in my body. "Having too much non-beneficial bacteria in your gut has been linked to many health issues such as heart disease, fibromyalgia, eczema, asthma, depression, cancer, autoimmunity, allergies, obesity, autism, and allergies," she said . . . and in my case, inexplicable abdominal distention.
"We are so caught up in our busy lives that we don't realize how stressed out we are - that's when the health issues start to appear out of nowhere."
"When our microbiome is out of balance from stress, we get an imbalance of non-beneficial bacteria such as yeasts, parasites, and bad bacteria that take over and make us feel bloated, tired, and bring along a host of unwanted symptoms that range from person to person."
She went on to say that "change in diet, travel, processed foods, and stress from work, our family, friends, and so forth," can trigger this imbalance, but "we are so caught up in our busy lives that we don't realize how stressed out we are - that's when the health issues start to appear out of nowhere." It was amazing to hear those words of affirmation, because that's exactly what I had experienced. It was totally out of nowhere, and I truly had been so caught up in my busy life.
My gut was off thanks to stress, which caused the inexplicable bloating (that couldn't be attributed to anything I was eating) and the mission now was to use different natural remedies together to restore balance and get me out of a place of stress (that's a work in progress, honestly). "The goal is to address the underlying root cause of why your gut is imbalanced in the first place, instead of covering up your symptoms with a Band-Aid approach," said Amie. "That's where food, stress, mind-body practices, and probiotics come into play."
Dr. Ng had an additional approach to pair with my acupuncture treatments for both stress and energy blockages in my abdomen: Chinese herbs. She prescribed and gave me a bottle of Mu Xiang Shun Qi Pian, or "BloatEase," to take three times a day. "Emotional upset such as frustrations or worry, overwork, and a constitutional or genetic weakness can make a person prone to digestive disorders," she told me. The herbs and the acupuncture were intended to set things right again. She also mentioned to me the importance of using both traditional Eastern medicine in combination with Western medicine - and my recovery has been a testament to that.
The combination of treatment has been absolutely life changing for me. The Chinese herbs, probiotics, and acupuncture treatment (along with continuing to eat a balanced diet, getting enough sleep, and staying on my workout schedule) has helped restore my body to its natural shape. The bloating is going away, even though I still have to work on de-stressing. When it does happen, the bloating has decreased in size, severity, discomfort, and frequency, and I'm finally starting to feel comfortable with my body again.
What did I learn from all this? For one, Western and Eastern medicine aren't mutually exclusive, and in fact, when they're used together, they've got a symbiotic, 360 approach that can be even more effective than if either were used on their own.
I've also learned to advocate for my health. If you're not getting answers, don't give up. Make another appointment. Bug your doctor. Ask for another referral. Don't take no for an answer. The world of healthcare is freaking nuts, and if you don't advocate for yourself, no one else will. I got pretty lucky in the way that my doctors were really helpful and responsive when I pushed, but I still had to jump through a lot of hoops to get the treatment I needed. Don't be intimidated, don't give up, and most of all, don't stress. A solution is out there for you, too.

Victoria Beckham's 45 Most Fabulous Moments in a Pair of Sunglasses
Maybe you haven't noticed how often Victoria Beckham wears sunglasses when she steps out. If the stylish designer has a newfound love for flats, her affinity for oversize aviators and ultradark lenses has never wavered. Victoria even gives Anna Wintour a run for her money when it comes to the staple accessory. (Yes, she's worn them to sit front row at runway shows too.)
She's crafted her own line of shades, and Victoria's admitted to an obsession with collecting vintage designer pairs - she's sat at David Beckham's football games in many a Carrera aviator, and she likes Gucci lenses too. Read on to see 45 ways she's worn her sunglasses so darn well.
A Complete Stranger Saved This Mom and Her 4 Kids but Wanted 1 Major Thing in Return
After Tawny Nelson's car broke down at night in the pouring rain with her four young daughters crying in the back, countless people just drove by as she begged for help.
The single mother of four explained that things had been rough since her partner left - her vehicle was in such bad shape that she only drove if absolutely necessary and her cell phone was disconnected. She and her children desperately needed groceries so they made a quick trip to the store. However, one of her girls accidentally left a light on in the car and they returned to a completely drained battery. "I must have asked more than twenty people in the course of two hours for a jump," she wrote to Frank Somerville, which he shared on his Facebook page. "They all ignored me. Not even a no. [They] just acted like I didn't exist."
As her newborn screamed, her 2-year-old cried from hunger, and her 9-year-old desperately tried to help, Tawny described that she started to break down herself. "I was bawling and felt like the worst Mom ever," she recalled.
At that moment, a 74-year-old man with a bad limp knocked on the window. He handed her a plate of food and bottles of water for her family and let her know that a tow truck was on its way and that his wife was going to drive them home. The next day, the gentleman returned to her house with a mechanic and they made multiple repairs to her car.
After the kind stranger left, Tawny asked the mechanic if she could set up a payment plan, but he informed her that the man had already taken care of the bill.
"He said that the only payment the older man wanted was for me to never give up and keep being an amazing mom," Tawny wrote. "I've never cried so hard in my life. Things had been absolutely awful, more so than I care to explain, and without knowing us or our situation this kind man helped us in ways he will never know."
Tawny is grateful to the man for restoring her faith in humanity when she says she was falling apart. And while she knows that she can never repay him - he wouldn't even take a hug - she hopes to one day do for another what he did for her.

Ivanka Trump had a front row seat next to 19 other world leaders at Saturday's G20 working session event in Hamburg, Germany. The President's daughter reportedly sat in for her father who reportedly left for bilateral meetings.
The now-viral photo of Ivanka sitting in between UK Prime Minister Theresa May and Chinese President Xi Jinping was first shared by Russia's G20 Sherpa, Svetlana Lukash, and quickly raised eyebrows from commentators who called out how "bizarre" it was for the President to miss such an important event. Read on to see some of the reactions to Ivanka's unconventional appearance ahead.

What All Parents Need to Know About the Princess Phase
Something that can be seen as inherently harmless and wholesome for children can actually stir up a major debate among parents: the magical world of princesses.
Many adults are completely against the princess phase and work to shield their daughters from what they see as a land of pink, weak role models, female stereotypes, and warped romantic relationships. Others completely disagree and view these beloved characters as innocent fun for their kids to explore, develop their imagination, and learn life lessons. Although new research from Brigham Young University points to potential long-term risks of going through the princess phase, author Jerramy Fine stands up for the empowering aspects of princesses in her book, In Defense of the Princess: How Plastic Tiaras and Fairytale Dreams Can Inspire Smart, Strong Women.
Like every story, the tales from the royal kingdom have more than one side and aren't solely good . . . or evil. Here, try to understand all aspects of the princess phase before deciding what is right for your own children.

Seeing other people's worry, fear, and anxiety has a tendency to breed more worry, fear, and anxiety, making it difficult - especially for little ones who may not understand the gravity of events occurring around the world - to continue to feel safe even in the most familiar of environments.
Here are 10 quick tips to ensure your kids feel secure, protected, and safe every day.
- Meet their basic needs. Kids who are happy, full, and well-rested are more likely to feel secure in their environment, especially when they are leaving the safety of home.
- Keep a routine. Even in the hardest of times, sticking to a routine as much as possible will keep things feeling familiar and secure.
- Encourage responsibility. Within your routine, enforce chores, rules, and expectations. Kids in chaotic, rule-free homes may feel more frustrated and insecure.
- Work it out. Help your kids release tension and anxiety through physical activity. Run around, play games outside, get energy out, then unwind with relaxing activities.
- Be mindful of the media. Beware of exposing kids to news that might be too upsetting to them, but be prepared to discuss tragedies they learn about calmly.
- Remind them they're not alone. When they express fear or worry, remind them that it's normal to be scared at times and talk to them about how you handle your fears.
- Let them know you're there. It never hurts to remind your kids constantly that you're there for them no matter what and that they can talk to you about anything.
- Dole out the hugs. Though it seems like a small thing, a hug or two a day to show your love can help a stressed-out child immediately feel more secure.
- Give them helpful tools. Help them memorize important information in case of emergency (and program helpful numbers into their phones).
- Encourage comforting items. Loveys elicit safe feelings, so encourage your child to snuggle up to theirs when they're feeling scared or worried.

7 Fun Facts About Pink and Carey Hart's Destination Wedding
Pink and Carey Hart celebrated their 11th wedding anniversary back in January, but there are still a few things you probably don't know about their big day. For starters, the couple exchanged "I dos" in a nondenominational beach ceremony in Costa Rica. "We just love the beach, so we knew we wanted it to be at the beach," Pink told People in 2006. "We wanted it very fun and nontraditional. We're spiritual, but we're not religious. It was about being with our closest friends and family and having a very fun and loose party," Carey added. Keep reading for more fun facts.
- Pink didn't wear a wedding dress. Instead, the singer opted for an ivory Monique Lhuillier top and skirt complete with a black sash tied around her waist. "I wanted to make Carey's heart stop for a second," Pink said.
- It was an emotional ceremony. Pink and Carey exchanged teary, self-penned vows on the beach at the Four Seasons Resort in Costa Rica in front of 140 guests, including pal Lisa Marie Presley. "Carey's friends are not exactly the fuzzy kind and they were crying," bridesmaid Amasetta Mudd told People. "It was so honest and emotional."
- The lavish affair had a rock and roll edge. In addition to the wedding's 10,000 roses, Pink and Carey's first dance was to song a from Natural Born Killers. The wedding "was the best time ever," Pink gushed.
- It was a three-day event. The couple kicked things off with a mojito-fueled luau followed by a rehearsal dinner the next night and ended with a gorgeous wedding ceremony.
- Pink's father made a beautiful speech. A slideshow with childhood photos of Pink and Carey was followed by a toast from Pink's dad, James Moore. "He said, 'I was trying to figure out who the heck would marry my daughter - and there he is!'" bridesmaid Shanique Jackson said. "He said, 'I couldn't imagine anyone more perfect for her.'"
- Pink didn't perform. While the singer didn't perform, her hit "Love Song" (which she wrote for Carey) played in the background as they cut their cake, which was topped with a bride and groom popping a wheelie.
- Pink and Carey were up all night. "[Pink] danced until 5 in the morning," her friend and makeup artist Billy B said. "She didn't leave once!"
This Modern Parenting Necessity Could Be Hurting Your Child's Speech
As modern technology has evolved to address the needs and desires of adults, it's also affected the way - or how often - children use technology. Although so-called screen time has been a blessing for many parents, a new study is outlining some alarming repercussions.
In a study that was presented at the 2017 Pediatric Academic Societies Meeting on May 4, researchers led by Dr. Catherine Birken found a link between screen time and speech delays in children between the ages of 6 months and 2 years. The study has yet to be published for public viewing, however, the findings presented at the meeting have been widely reported.
According to CNN, the study had the parents of 900 different children record the amount of time their children spent using tablets, smartphones, or other gaming devices. Researchers then examined the children's speech using different language tests.
Of the 900 participants, 20 percent spent 28 minutes a day looking at a screen by the time they were 18 months old. The bad news? With every 30-minute increase in daily screen time, researchers noted a nearly 50 percent increased risk of speech delay - meaning a difficulty with producing speech sounds, as opposed to gestures.
That being said, this is the first study of its kind, and more research will also need to be done on whether different types of content could have varied effects on children. In an interview with CNN, Dr. Birken explained, "It's the first time that we've sort of shone a light on this potential issue, but I think the results need to be tempered [because] it's really a first look."
For now, Dr. Birken is advising parents to avoid screen time for any children younger than 18 months old.

The Pretty Cute Reason Why Karen's Voice Sounds So Familiar in Spider-Man: Homecoming
Warning: spoilers below!
One of the coolest aspects of Spider-Man: Homecoming (of which there are many) is the major Spidey suit upgrade Peter Parker (Tom Holland) gets courtesy of his mentor, Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.). Although we do get a glimpse of the stripped-down disguise the young web-slinger had been wearing before Tony helped him out (red and blue pajamas, basically), for the most part he spends the film swooping through Queens in a suit outfitted with its very own artificial intelligence system, similar to J.A.R.V.I.S. in Tony's Iron Man suit.
At first Peter dubs the A.I. "suit lady," before eventually deciding to call her Karen. She helps him navigate everything from web grenades to his complicated love life, and if her voice sounds familiar, there's a very good (and pretty cute) reason for it. Karen is voiced by none other than Jennifer Connelly, making Homecoming her second foray into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, since her first was in 2003's Hulk as Betty Ross. That's not where her ties to the MCU end, though.
In real life, the American Pastoral actress is married to Paul Bettany, the British actor who voices J.A.R.V.I.S. in the Iron Man films, and later becomes Vision in Avengers: Age of Ultron (after which Tony starts using a system called F.R.I.D.A.Y.).

If you're already aware the actors are married IRL, it's a nice wink to the off-screen connection Tony and Peter's equipment now shares.
