An Overwhelming Majority of Young Women Say They Dislike Ivanka Trump

Ever since President Donald Trump took office, many have been focused on his eldest daughter, Ivanka, and her budding role in the administration. We already know people are questioning her new White House position, but how do Americans - especially other young women like her - really feel about the first daughter? Well, Cosmopolitan just released a poll with some answers, and they're pretty intriguing.

The purpose of the SurveyMonkey poll was to gauge how Americans view the president's most notable family and administration members, and some of the results are interesting, to say the least. After surveying a sample of 5,493 adults ages 18 and up for a weeklong period, it was found that a majority of young women aged 18 to 34 - 52 percent, to be exact - have a particularly negative view of the first daughter. That leaves only 21 percent of young women noting favorable feelings about her (with the remaining 28 percent refusing to answer). On the flip side, Ivanka's favorability increases to 39 percent among older women aged 34 to 64 and is even higher, at 45 percent, for women aged 65 or older.

Considering Ivanka's recent attempt at meeting with Planned Parenthood (which had no apparent effect on the administration's actions against the nonprofit), the broad perception that she is complicit in her father's many antiwoman policies, and her dad's history of misogyny and alleged sexual assault . . . well, let's just say we're not too surprised by these findings.

Joanna Gaines Designed a Kids' Clothing Line and It's Gorgeous, Obviously

Joanna Gaines has become a viral household name, ironically, because of her ability to make just about any house look like a million bucks. We've quickly become obsessed with her, her family, and her businesses, and now our addiction to everything Magnolia has grown even larger following the release of her new kids' clothing collection with Matilda Jane Clothing.

With item names like "shiplap top" and "farmhouse frolic dress," there's no questioning that this line was totally Joanna's brainchild. Just like her home renovations, the collection is completely darling and stylish, and it's going to take some serious willpower on our parts to not buy every single adorable piece.

Scroll through to see our favorite items from the collection - and from us to your wallets: godspeed.

See the Places Barack and Michelle Called Home Before the White House

Until very recently, Barack and Michelle Obama have proudly called 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue "home." For almost a decade, not only has this monumental White House served as their living quarters and "office space," but it has been where they have raised two cute little girls into poised and well-rounded young women. And while they have already selected their new home post-White House, we were curious to know where Barack and Michelle lived before they both became staples of American history. Read on for an inside look at their digs long before we referred to this power couple as president and first lady.

How Animal Planet's Vet School Star Overcame Her Biggest Fears

Melanie Lang is a superbusy aspiring veterinarian working overtime and overnight to achieve her dream of working with animals (and the humans who love them). She's one of the subjects of Animal Planet's series Life at Vet U, but she's not your typical veterinary school student. For one thing, she's older than many of her classmates, having initially built a business career throughout her 20s. At the age of 30, she did a 180-degree turn on her career path by quitting a steady job at Verizon Wireless and enrolling in veterinary school.

Melanie chatted with POPSUGAR about everything that went into making this career shift: the sacrifice, satisfaction, discomfort, and - most importantly - joy.

POPSUGAR: Tell us a little bit about what you were doing before you decided to become a veterinarian.

Melanie Lang: Well, my undergraduate degree is in English literature. And the big joke when I was in college was that I had to get really good at asking people if they wanted fries with that because nobody hires English majors. Which is not true! So I kind of ended up falling into a job with Verizon Wireless and I started out sort of entry level, answering the phones at a call center, getting yelled at because their bills were too high or they didn't understand them, things like that. And really quickly kind of climbed the ranks. . . . My end job there the last couple years was in what was called the "new hire experience" department and so I spent a lot of time basically training, coaching, and mentoring new hires to the company and then I would also get sent to call centers in the Midwest region for training not only customer service representatives, but also supervisors and managers to be better coaches and mentors so that the company as a whole could be better. And I really liked it, it was a great job, I got to do a lot of things that I loved, the people were great, the company was pretty phenomenal to work for.

But you know, it just wasn't that thing that forces me to get out of bed every morning when you open your eyes and say, "Yes, I get to go do this today!" So I needed a little bit of a change.

PS: Was there a specific turning point when you made the decision to quit your job at Verizon and turn to veterinary school?

ML: I don't know that there was a specific moment but when I initially started college at 18, I was a pre-veterinary major. . . . At 18, I didn't really realize that you had to do a lot more than love animals to be a veterinarian. You had to like, love animals - and science and medicine and problem-solving. I don't think I was mature enough at that time but it was always that thing that I kind of gave up on, you know?

When I got to the point in my career where it was like, this is not something that is jazzing me and getting me out of bed every morning, I always thought about [how] I gave up on veterinary medicine when I was like, young and dumb. And why not try that again? What's the worst thing that could happen, is that I realize it's not for me and I made the right decision when I was 18? But I had to at least give it another shot.

PS: Would you go back to your 18-year-old self and tell her to stick with the pre-vet major, or were the Verizon years valuable in their own way?

ML: Oh, my gosh, I don't know that I would change anything because I think the years at Verizon Wireless, they definitely taught me how to communicate better with people, they taught me how to - especially those first couple months when I was on the phone - they taught me how to defuse really tense situations. They taught me how to appreciate the environment that I worked in and appreciate the people that I worked with and how to sort of celebrate and motivate people, in order to make them want to do their jobs, to continue to do their jobs and be better at their jobs. It's really important no matter what you do!

[Working at Verizon] definitely helped me to learn how to read people better and to gauge how I should present myself so that they respond best so that I can kind of get them on my side. . . . Veterinarians are, I think, notorious for being completely bad at selling the value of our service and selling ourselves. People always are like, "Yeah, I went to my vet and it was $200 for a check-up!" But it's because, you know, you don't really position the value of the services and I learned a lot working for Verizon for those six years about how to sell my value, whether it be in business or whether it be in veterinary medicine.

PS: What were your biggest fears about taking this leap into a totally new career?

ML: Gosh, there were a lot of fears. I think it was really multifaceted because you know, number one, there's the fear of: "I am going to fail and I'm not cut out for this science stuff." And then there's also the: "Holy crap, I'm 30! And I'm going to go back to school?!" Because I had to do all of my prerequisites so I was in like, Chem 101 with a bunch of 18-year-olds. I was like, "Man, I'm gonna be that weird old lady in the class!" [laughs] And then there's the absolutely crippling debt that you go into in order to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. . . .

But also, you have so much excitement that you're embarking on something new and you're pushing yourself kind of out of your comfort zone and that's always something that's important to me; I always like to challenge myself. And also, you know, when I was growing up, I was in probably like, eighth grade or ninth grade and my mom who - neither of my parents had a college education and my mom, she had always worked in fast food, and she was absolutely miserable, and she said, "You know what? Forget this. I'm gonna go to night school and I'm gonna learn how to be an X-ray technician." And then she did that, and . . . she absolutely changed her life - and she was 40! I was like, man, if she can do that at 40, I can do it at 30. So I've always kind of had that in the back of my mind, that things worked out really, really well for her, and they could work out just as well for me.

PS: What kind of advice would you give to someone thinking about making a similar change? What have been some of the hardest things about making this change?

ML: I think the hardest thing for someone who is an adult who has had a career - especially if you have to go back to school and especially veterinary school - your time is not your own anymore. You're beholden to this class schedule and in clinics you have to be there. . . . I think it was very hard to go from feeling like an adult and owning a house and paying bills and buying lots of organic produce to being, you know, living like a very poor student again and being filled with all of the insecurities and anxieties that come along with being a student and trying to do well.

I also think, I'm surrounded by people who are 10 years younger than me, and you lose a lot of mental acuity in 10 years! I felt like I had to work a little harder than a lot of my peers just because things weren't as fresh for me and I wasn't as quick sometimes as they were. I think that's just something to keep in perspective and I think it's important to know that that will happen and there are going to be days when you're gonna say, "Man this was the worst decision I have ever made because I feel stupid, I'm not making any money, I'm in debt, I don't have much free time."

But at the same time you've got to keep the end game in perspective and I always have told myself - even now when I'm working 100 hours a week and my life is not my own - I tell myself that I chose this. . . . Yeah, I'm tired, things are tough, I'm tired, and I'm poor, but I picked this. I wanted to do this and I'm doing the thing that I wanted to do and that's never a bad thing.

PS: Have you had any moments that have totally affirmed your decision?

ML: I feel like I do have them often, especially now - I spend a lot of time working in the emergency room, and right now I'm working overnights. And so when someone comes into the emergency room with their dog at three o'clock in the morning, it's never a good thing. There's a lot of fear and anxiety there. I recently had a case where there was a dog and he was vomiting, vomiting, just could not stop vomiting. And the owner was so afraid that he'd gotten into some poison or a toxin or things like that, and before I even walked in the room this poor woman was just in tears. And I was able to kind of talk her down off of that ledge . . . and ended up figuring it out, it was a pretty simple fix, it was just a case of we did some x-rays and he had gotten into the trash and eaten some pig bones and they were just hanging out there in his stomach, and so he was really nauseous and not feeling well because of it. And you know, gave her some medication, sent her home, and called her up a couple days later and the dog's doing really fantastic, and it's just so nice to talk to owners and they're really thankful for your care. . . . Those are the kind of moments where I'm like, gosh, I made a good decision and I might actually one day be really good at this!

PS: Final question: As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

ML: When I was a little kid, I wanted to be a rock star so bad. And I would put on some horribly awful dance routine because I'm not coordinated now and I certainly wasn't coordinated then. And I would sing and I'd dance and I always wanted to be in the spotlight.

But at the same time, ever since I was little, I've always been an enormous animal-lover. . . . I was always that little kid who wanted to be surrounded by cats. [laughs] And so you know, now I'm kind of doing that! So I definitely can't complain. I am often surrounded by cats. It's probably a nightmare for a lot of people, but for me? I'll take it.

A Photographer Completely Shut Down the "Birth Shamers" Who Think This Photo Is Gross

One of Lacey Baratt's birth photos recently went viral because of the incredible moment between father and newborn son that she captured. However, after some people left online comments about the placenta "ruining" this beautiful image, Lacey decided to stand up to those who have a negative "opinion" about the photo.

"Stop. Right there. Opinion accepted. But don't you dare spew your birth shaming hatred in the name of 'opinion and freedom of speech,'" Lacey wrote on Facebook. "Birth shaming is making a mother feel ashamed or guilty for her birth choices. Be it elective or emergency, birth shaming can amplify postpartum depression, including postpartum psychosis (yes, that is a real thing.)"

Lacey pleads with others to think before they speak to a new mom and explains how words can impact both her mental stability and emotional well-being. "When a mother is so newly postpartum small comments like this can make the difference between having a blissful babymoon and converting it to a dark secluded period of time rethinking her choices and how she perceives her birth experience," she wrote. "It can make an incredible experience turn painful in a instant."

The reason Lacey's clients graciously grant her permission to share their vulnerable birth photos is to help normalize "the true essence of birth that has been tainted by Hollywood and other social media platforms," but that opens them up to harsh judgment for their choices. "So what if you ate your placenta, you buried it, you disposed of it as 'toxic waste' and 'biohazardous material,' you blended it, encapsulated it, smoothied it, cut the cord, didn't cut the cord, delayed cutting the cord, or ate that sh*t raw," Lacey wrote. "I think it's time we all come together as birthing women and say, 'Job well done you badass, you did it,' and stop shaming women for their choices made during the birthing process."

Instead of tearing others down for how they brought life into this word, Lacey hopes to celebrate those choices with the world while putting an end to the nasty comments.

Miley Cyrus Will Win You Over With Her Wedding Dress

I don't know when or if Miley Cyrus is getting married. While Billy Ray Cyrus posted a photo that suggests she and Liam Hemsworth tied the knot, it hasn't been confirmed. Maybe Miley isn't even thinking about marriage. But in my imaginary world, she walks down the aisle in a pretty spectacular wedding dress. You see, ever since I was young, I looked at Miley as someone who represented versatility. She played two different characters on Hannah Montana, and my younger sister plastered posters of Miley all over her walls, some in which she was dressed up like Hannah, others in which she was just herself in jeans and a three-quarter-sleeved tee. But even when she was just being Miley, the actress and singer looked unique and a little bit quirky.

She's gone through many stages, but there has never been a time when Miley's paid attention to trends. During her rise to fame, she wore flares and cowboy boots, maybe because they were representative of where she came from: Franklin, TN. Post-breakup with Liam Hemsworth (the two have rekindled their relationship), Miley kind of went HAM with her wardrobe. And I liked it. What she wore, or didn't wear, was all a part of her personal revolution.

Miley's style at this point could basically be described as costume like. She dressed as a twerking teddy bear and supported LGBT rights in rainbows and big, furry coats. Then, at the 2015 Met Gala, the industry's elite gathered on the red carpet, but Miley stood alone in a cutout Alexander Wang gown. It ended up on some "worst dressed" lists, but I think it was my favorite outfit of the night. It didn't seem like Miley was trying to appear sexy or edgy but just to look like herself.

So now, as outsiders speculate on whether Miley and Liam got hitched, I can't help but to imagine her would-be bridal look. I doubt Miley Cyrus's wedding dress will be all white. It might be neon, a mix of colors, or come with an inflatable skirt. Miley might not wear a wedding dress at all, should she get married. Maybe she'll go naked. She did reveal on the Today show that she prefers to stay out of the fashion conversation: "I don't want people to talk about what I'm wearing. That's usually why I don't wear too much," she said.

One thing's for sure: if Miley Cyrus gets married, her look won't include a ballgown so glamorous that everyone focuses on the pretty (or crazy!) details. They won't be talking about The Dress, because god knows it won't be wearing her. It'll be all about Miley. Read on to see why we know Miley will hit it out of the park on her special day.

This Boring Entryway Is Unrecognizable After a Lowe's Makeover

So many of us can relate to having an entryway that's incongruous with the rest of the house. Maybe you just haven't had time to decorate it yet or maybe it's so big and overwhelming that you don't even know where to start. That was the case for these homeowners whose all-white foyer, with its soaring ceiling, was a blank canvas just waiting for design guru Monica Mangin to work her magic on in the Lowe's original series The Weekender. Check out the dramatic after images and get all the design and product details in the slideshow ahead.

7 Shopping Secrets Straight From an Aldi Employee

Aldi grocery stores may be famous for their exceptionally low price points, but we're finding out that there's a lot more to the company than just a solid deal on bananas! One employee just revealed tons of secrets about the grocery store and what it's like to work at Aldi in a Reddit AMA, and we're truly intrigued. During the "Ask Me Anything" conversation, the employee spilled the details on how "fresh" the produce is, why the cashiers are always sitting, and those delicious knockoff Girl Scout Cookies. Read on for all of the juicy Aldi shopping secrets, straight from an employee.

There's a weekly deal called Special Buys.

One Irish Reddit user wondered if they featured a weekly special product like they do at the stores in Ireland, which is often a really random product, like "skiing gear or a chainsaw," and the employee said yes. "It's called Special Buys," they shared about the weekly deals. "We just got a bunch of gardening things in yesterday!" So good to know!

They have amazing coffee!

The employee shared that coffee is their favorite thing to buy at Aldi. "We have amazing coffee," they shared. "My favorite is the Honduras and Peru whole bean (single source, organic, and fair trade) and the regular fair trade medium roast. The chocolate (choceur) is better than almost any common brand you can find. Almost everything there is truly comparable to national brands. It's not just a line. There is a very short list of things I don't like." They also sell great K-Cups for Keurig users.

Why do the cashiers always sit?

One curious Reddit user asked why the cashiers are always sitting, and it has absolutely nothing to do with laziness. "The register chairs are a German thing. I'm not 100% sure why. But I like to think we sit because we bust our asses cleaning and stocking when we aren't ringing."

The knockoff Girl Scout Cookies are delicious.

Someone asked why the near-identical Girl Scout Cookies weren't available in all stores, and the employee shared their incredibly impressive self-control when it comes to the cookies. "They are pretty amazing," the employee said about the cookies. "I don't allow myself to buy them often, though. I'll eat the whole thing by myself in like a day or two."

No, you can't get a discount on squished boxes.

Apparently, it's a running joke between shoppers that no one can ever find baking soda in Aldi stores, but we have an answer! "Baking aisle, top shelf," the employee shared, revealing a tip that might be a letdown to some customers. "No, you can't get a discount on the squished boxes."

Hiring is very competitive.

Yup! When someone asked if their experience at Walmart would help in the application process at Aldi, the employee said yes and opened up about the great number of applicants. "A lot of district managers like to hire people with former management experience (that's part of why I got hired)," they shared. "All experience matters of course, so grocery experience is definitely on your side. My store (not in a very large city) receives several hundred applications a year. Two people were hired in my store in the last 12 months. . . I was one of them. It's a tough job. Everyone does everything, including 6am truck shifts. Keeping the store clean and stocked is a constant struggle when it gets as busy as it does, and when there are only 2-3 working at a time. . . well, you can imagine. That's why it's nice to sit while we ring."

Produce is exceptionally fresh.

With such low prices, many shoppers wonder how "fresh" the produce really is, and the employee reassured the curious Reddit users that even though the produce is less expensive than other grocery stores, it's great quality. "We get produce deliveries every morning," they shared. "The turn around is very fast, so we don't have much waste. We just don't over-order, I guess. It's more typical that we are all out of broccoli by the time we close than it is that we have several extra cases that just end up in the trash." At this employee's location, local restaurant employees will even come in to purchase produce. "We often have local restaurants come in to buy produce to hold them over until deliveries come in. They have mentioned that it's cheaper than their wholesalers. I don't have actual numbers, but bananas and lettuce are big sellers in that area."

But if you're still wondering why shoppers are required to purchase a cart for a quarter, check out more Aldi secrets from another candid employee.

The 1 Reason Pippa Middleton Won't Choose a Wedding Gown Like Kate's

We can make speculations about Pippa Middleton's wedding dress, but we won't know what it looks like until she walks down the aisle on May 20. Our best bet for guessing, though, is to look to a royal designer. Princess Diana's wedding gown was created by David Emanuel, who admitted the task launched his career to fame in an interview with Express. Thirty-five years after his first success, he's offering advice to the engaged Pippa:

"As long as it's the complete opposite of her sister, because she's a different woman, she's a different body shape. I'd keep it very soft because I think Catherine's dress was quite rigid and quite hard, so just the complete opposite and you shouldn't compare brides. You shouldn't compare women, really."

While we agree the sisters maintain their own signature styles, there have been instances of coordination we can't forget. For fancier events, Pippa and Kate have worn similar silhouettes, though we suspect Pippa will choose something less voluminous than an Alexander McQueen ballgown on her special day. Read on to see both ladies in white at Kate's nuptials, then check out our own ideas for Pippa's bridal look (cap sleeves! Please let there be cap sleeves!).

13 Reasons Why: Sheri Played a Younger Version of 1 of Your Favorite TV Characters

13 Reasons Why is easily one of Netflix's best original series, but it shouldn't come as a surprise. Not only does the adaptation of Jay Asher's YA novel about teen suicide have some heartbreaking themes, but its cast does an incredible job portraying each and every morally ambiguous character. While the series marks some of the actors' big breaks, you might notice a few others from a handful of popular series and movies, including Ajiona Alexus, who plays Sheri.

While she is known for playing DeAnna on The Rickey Smiley Show, she also appeared in episodes of Code Black and Grey's Anatomy, which also starred 13 Reasons Why's Kate Walsh and Dylan Minnette. Of course, one role that she is most recognizable for is a little Fox show called Empire. She actually played teenage Loretha, aka Cookie Lyon. That's right, Alexus is basically Taraji P. Henson's mini-me!

33 Things That Make Disneyland Better Than Disney World

Target Wants to Upcycle Your Old Car Seats in Exchange For a Discount

Target is looking to make your Spring-cleaning efforts a bit easier this year by offering to take old car seats off your hands. In exchange for the used seats, the company will give you a 20 percent discount on a new seat of your choice.

The trade-in program, which will take place in Target stores from April 17 to 30, 2017, is in partnership with TerraCycle - a company that recycles hard-to-recycle waste - which will work to upcycle the old car seats into new products. Through the initiative, Target believes it will "keep more than 700,000 pounds of car seat materials out of landfills."

"In honor of Earth Month, we wanted to make it easy for guests to do something positive for the planet and their communities," says Target's chief sustainability officer, Jennifer Silberman. "We love this opportunity to give families an environmentally friendly way to dispose of unwanted car seats and get the new ones they need just in time for Spring."

If you're excited about this program and are planning to take full advantage of the coupon that comes with the trade-in, check out Target's lineup of car seats available to choose from while you wait for April 17 to roll around (your coupon will only be valid until May 31, 2017, so be ready!).

The Woman Who Calmly Defied an Anti-Muslim Protestor Meets the Person She Helped Defend

When Saffiyah Khan defended a Muslim woman and calmly faced down an enraged far-right protester in Birmingham, England, she didn't know the moment would go viral - she was just trying to give support. A photo of the moment, taken by Joe Giddens of the Press Association, did go viral, and Khan received international acclaim for such bravery. After the moment passed, Khan finally met the Muslim woman she defended and they both spoke to The Guardian about the protest and solidarity.

In the interview, Khan meets Saira Zafar, the woman who was surrounded by members from the anti-Muslim English Defence League (EDL). Zafar explains that she originally was going to stand at the back of the protests with a sign but that the protesters quickly got out of hand. They placed a banner on top of her head that read "Muslim communities need to be investigated" and then over her face as she called them racist. That's when Khan stepped in and confronted the protesters.

"I went there predicting that something like this would happen, sadly, and when it did happen, all I did was provide support," said Khan. "But there's no excuse for doing nothing really." Watch their interview and meeting ahead.

Zafar is grateful to Khan and the message she sent. "I do really appreciate the fact that you did step in," said Zafar. "It is very important to have solidarity and to show that, OK, well if something happens to this person, they are not on their own."

It's not the only message Zafar thinks they both sent to the world that night. "The stance that we both took in that rally, it shows that Muslim women are not how, unfortunately, the narrative is nowadays. We are not oppressed - do you know what I mean? We are not easily intimidated; we are quite strong in who we are."

This might not be everyone's go-to eye makeup routine every morning of Spring, but it is a fun way to experiment with colors, not to mention it makes a great Instagram snap.

This Incredible Woman Gave Birth to Twins 2 Weeks Apart

When LaTroya Woolridge was told she was in labor at just 24 weeks pregnant, she feared the worst. On Jan. 17, the Texas mom was experiencing horrible pain and decided to drive herself to Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Hospital. Unfortunately, LaTroya's husband was out of town, but she was told that it was time to give birth. However, LaTroya only gave birth to one twin, her daughter Amara, on that day.

Amara was born at just 1 pound, 3 ounces, while her twin brother, Arthur III, stayed in utero. "Initially, we were told that Amara's heart tone could not be detected, so when I finally delivered her and saw her feet moving I was filled with joy that she was alive, but afraid of what would happen next," LaTroya told People.

For the next two weeks, LaTroya's doctors did everything they could to keep both babies healthy in each of their states. On Jan. 31, Arthur III was born at just 2 pounds, 2 ounces, via C-section.

LaTroya's experience is called a delayed interval twin delivery, a very rare condition where one child is born before the other. Although both Amara and Arthur III are still in the NICU, they both weigh over 5 pounds and have made some amazing improvements. "We are happier than we have ever been and excited about our parenthood journey," LaTroya said. "We are amazed at the miracle we have watched before our eyes."

Hillary Clinton Unexpectedly Wore the Pink Shoe of the Moment

Katy Perry launched her shoe collection last year and has a built a devoted following, including one unexpected famous lady: Hillary Clinton. The former US secretary of state and presidential candidate showed off her namesake shoes from Katy's collection - a pink pump with lucite heels filled with gold stars - in a snap Katy posted on her Instagram. Hillary styled her heels with tailored beige trousers and a shiny silver jacket.

Dubbed "The Hillary," the heels are available to shop online (they also come in a mint green color) for $139. Judging by the photo, Hillary looks pretty stoked about her pink shoes. She's been experimenting with her looks lately - and a playful pastel heel is in the cards for Spring.

10 Ways to Fall in Love With Your Partner All Over Again
