This 30-Minute Bike Workout Blasts Calories and Fat

While it's often overlooked at the gym, the exercise bike can help you burn tons of calories and tone your legs. When working out on a stationary bike, the trick is to make sure you have the machine set with enough resistance. This way, you won't pedal yourself off the bike, but you'll also be able to sprint when necessary, which can make for a great interval workout. Mixing up the pace challenges the heart and lungs, but interval bike workouts also prevent boredom while pedaling on a road to nowhere.

We love this workout because it is scalable to any fitness level. If you are beginning or advanced, listen to your body and go the speed that works for you in the sprint sections.

How Hills, Sleep, and Your Attitude Can Diminish Cellulite

Just about all women have it, and whether genetics has blessed you with a little more than you'd like, cellulite is just one of those things we have to embrace. What causes that dimply, orange-peel-looking flesh? When fat cells push up against our skin and the fibrous tissue that connects our skin to our muscle pulls down, we're left with that signature bumpy skin. Although you can't get rid of cellulite completely, here are some simple things you can do to reduce its appearance.

Do This Every Day to Easily Keep Track of Calories

Packing your lunch and snacks for the day is one of the most effective ways to lose weight because it allows you to be in control of the calories you consume. Take your planning one step further by labeling food with the time you should eat it and the number of calories it contains. Visually tracking your food for the day will make you more likely to stick to a healthy meal plan, and less likely to skip ahead and be left with an empty lunch box by 1 p.m., necessitating a trip to the local vending machine.

It'll be a little time-consuming in the beginning, but once you figure out a handful of your favorite low-calorie snack and lunch ideas, you can rotate them throughout the week, and labeling them won't take but a few extra minutes. Your best bet is to pack your food the night before so you're not rushed in the morning. Check out the example below:

8:00: Greek yogurt with blueberries and granola: 120 + 42 + 120 = 282
10:00: Banana with 9 cashews: 105 + 54 = 159
12:00: Split pea soup, slice of bread with hummus: 326 + 145 = 471
3:00: Apple with cheese stick: 80 + 80 = 160

This Workout Hack Will Reveal Your Strong, Toned Arms

Achieving toned, beautiful arms doesn't have to feel like a constant struggle, but you can't rely on cardio and light weights for dramatic results. Expert trainer, KIND spokesperson, and author of Strong Is the New Skinny Jennifer Cohen doesn't need you to become an Olympic powerlifter, but she says you might have to get comfortable lifting more than you're used to.

Many women pine after toned arms but are afraid of lifting more than five pounds. If you want to see real results in your muscle definition, the answer lies in shocking your body with heavier weights. If you're currently strength training three or four times a week, Jennifer recommends lifting heavier weights one or two times a week in order to shock your body, build lean muscle, and achieve definition. If you tend to grab three- or five-pounders at the gym, Jennifer suggests opting for 10, 12, or 15 pounds on your heavier days. Working with lighter weights one day and heavier weights another will keep your muscles guessing so you don't plateau and continue to get stronger and stronger.

Beyond the weight you're lifting, Jennifer says consistency is key. Occasionally lifting or skipping out on your workout routine isn't going to cut it! If you're consistent with your program and continue setting (and accomplishing) new goals all the time, you're putting yourself in the perfect position to reach your goals.

The Secret to Losing Belly Fat

While focusing on crunches will strengthen your abs, it unfortunately will not get rid of the muffin top around your waist. To get rid of ab flab, it's essential to regularly include calorie-burning cardio in your routine. And not just any kind of cardio - it's important to focus on interval training; alternating between moderate and speedy bursts of exercise is the key.

A study in the International Journal of Obesity revealed that when compared to women who cycled at a consistent pace for 40 minutes, women who worked out for 20 minutes, but alternated between eight-second sprints and 12 seconds of low-intensity cycling, lost more belly fat after 15 weeks. Work out half as long and lose more fat? Sounds good to me!

You can do intervals with virtually any type of activity. Here are some ways to incorporate them into your routine:

  1. Use visual goals: Run or bike at a moderate pace, and then look ahead and sprint to the mailbox that's 50 feet away, or up the hill, or to the end of the street. Once you reach your goal, reduce back to your moderate speed. After your breathing returns to normal, choose another goal to race to.
  2. Use time: Watch the clock and move moderately for two minutes and then zoom as fast as you can for one minute. Repeat this pattern for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Use music: Make an interval playlist, alternating between fast-paced peppy tunes and slower, chill tunes. Walk, run, or dance to the beat. Here's a 60-minute walk-run playlist, or for a faster-paced workout, try this 40-minute running playlist.
  4. Use a POPSUGAR Fitness interval workout: If you find it easier to follow a cardio routine, check out these interval workouts:

These Videos of Electric Razors Cutting Off Long Hair Are Surprisingly Satisfying

Many people generally consider hair clippers to be reserved exclusively for buzz cuts or similarly short styles. But a new salon trend lets clients with longer hair get in on the precision of "clipper cuts."

The electric razor and comb technique is one of the cleanest ways for someone seeking a blunt, one-length style to achieve a cut with a sharp edge. The hairdresser simply uses a large comb to demarcate where the new length will end, and then swipes the clippers across and below the comb, chopping the hair. While some choose to do it slowly and in sections, other stylists go full throttle and do the entire cut all in one motion.

Check out the comb-and-clipper Instagram videos ahead - we're sure you'll agree that short of using swords, this method is the most mesmerizing way to cut hair, especially for those of us who find even lines particularly satisfying.

10 Healthy Breakfasts With (at Least!) 15 Grams of Protein

Eating breakfast - and definitely not skipping it - is essential for revving up your metabolism if you've got weight loss on the mind. What you eat is also important, and no, a breakfast full of carbs like a bowl of cereal or a bagel isn't the best choice. Getting enough protein is key, and nutritionists Stephanie Clarke, RD, and Willow Jarosh, RD, of C&J Nutrition recommend getting 13 to 20 grams. While Greek yogurt is an easy and popular option, if you're avoiding dairy, try these recipes.

5 Easy Changes to Start Losing Weight Today

Losing weight isn't easy. It doesn't happen overnight, and there isn't one sole thing you need to do - it's a lot of little things that add up. I know: it took me five years to lose 40 pounds.

Whether it's 10 pounds or 100 pounds, starting is the hardest part. But there's no need to make drastic, life-altering changes that you're not ready for yet. Especially since as soon as you stray from a rigid plan, it's easy to say, "I already cheated, I might as well give up." Instead, start off nice and easy with these five manageable changes you can make each day that won't have you feeling overwhelmed or deprived. They will help get you in the healthy mind-set and on the healthy track, which will only encourage more good-for-you changes.

  1. Swap beverages for water: OK, so you don't have to give up your beloved morning cup of joe, but for the rest of the day, a reusable water bottle is going to be your best friend. Each time you choose water over juice, soda, sweetened iced tea, and specialty coffee drinks, you'll save about 100 calories. Aside from that, sipping water also helps fill your belly, prevent bloat from constipation, and keep you hydrated, which prevents that sluggish feeling that causes people to reach for candy bars or cookies.
  2. Make a big salad for lunch: This is good for so many reasons. The veggies are low in calories, so you can eat an enormous bowl without breaking the calorie bank. They're also full of fiber, which fills you up fast and keeps you feeling satiated longer. Prep for the week by making them ahead in mason jars, which also helps you avoid the temptation of high-calorie lunches. Just be sure to be mindful of the ingredients you use; adding too much dressing, cheese, or other unhealthy items can turn a salad into a worse choice than a Big Mac.
  3. Do one 10-minute workout each day: This tip is for those who don't exercise a smidge, hate running, don't want to work out in front of other people at a gym, or have no idea how to get started. Anyone can commit to 10 minutes, and whether you're into yoga, strength training with weights, or Zumba or have always wanted to try P90X, we have a 10-minute video that'll motivate anyone to burn some calories. Start with one 10-minute workout each day to get you in the habit of moving, and after seeing the positive results just 10 minutes can have, you'll be itching to do more.
  4. Keep cut-up fruits and veggies in the fridge: When hunger or boredom strikes and you get that feeling that you need to munch on something, instead of reaching for a bag of chips, head to the fridge and grab one of the containers you've premade that contains washed grapes, blueberries, cut-up watermelon, pineapple, strawberries, and kiwi or carrots and celery sticks, strips of bell pepper, or sliced cukes. Put the containers right at eye level so they're the first thing you see. When healthy foods are already prepared, you're more likely to choose them over other easily accessible, not-so-healthy snacks.
  5. Use smaller plates and bowls: When we prepare a plate of food, we feel the need to fill it up completely. If you start out with a smaller-sized salad plate or a kid-sized bowl, there's only so much you can pile on, so you'll end up consuming fewer calories.

1 Photographer Travels to 37 Countries to Document Female Beauty

What does beauty look like? Well, it's a complicated question that is subjective based on where you are in the world. One Romanian photographer backpacked around the world for two years to explore the diversity of beauty. Mihaela Noroc's project is called "The Atlas of Beauty." She traveled to 37 countries and almost every continent to capture images of authentic women, and the final result is breathtaking.

"Now I can say that beauty is everywhere, and it's not a matter of cosmetics or sizes but more about being yourself," she wrote. "Global trends make us look and behave the same, but we are all beautiful because we are different. In the end, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and the beholder is always somebody else."

Lately we have seen multiple Photoshop experiments that change one woman's image based on what's considered beautiful around the world, including a biracial experiment and a plus-size spin off. But this photo diary celebrates real women. Each woman is captured in her natural environment - most without makeup - so that you can truly see how varied female beauty can be.

I Put 10 Mascaras to the Nap Test So That You Don't Have To

Let's be frank: I love sleeping. I never pulled a true all-nighter during college because my bed always lured me to sweet slumber by around 1 a.m., even during finals week. On current weekends, you can usually find me enjoying a snooze in the sun - sometimes more than once in a day. But throughout my life, I've always encountered the same frustrating problem: I can never find a mascara that won't make a mess all over my pillow or leave me with limp lashes.

While it's important to remove your makeup before going to sleep at night, sometimes you just wanted to pass out between Sunday brunch and your Game of Thrones viewing party that evening. If you, too, are guilty of falling asleep with your lashes done, then you're in luck. I put 10 popular mascara formulas to the test in search of the ultimate nap-proof wand.

Based on the flakes and smudges left on my face, stains on my pillowcase, and overall postnap appearance, I've given each of these mascaras a rating out of five stars. A surprising number of my choices were ideal shut-eye material! Keep reading, and you just might find a product that will help you be a true sleeping beauty.

Snowlights Is the Cool New Hair Color Trend You Should Try

Many women with color-treated hair switch up their strands depending on the season. Warmer, brighter shades accentuate a Summer glow, while ashier tones look more natural in Winter. Hare and Bone salon in London is taking cool-weather coifs to the next level with a new dye offering on its menu: snowlights.

Blogger Chrissabella tested out the treatment and documented it on her site. Unlike standard highlights, which are typically arranged in a "T" shape at the top of the head (along the part and on pieces framing the face), snowlights are laid out in a loose snowflake pattern around the crown. They also have a frostier cast, giving off icy snow queen vibes.

While we've only seen this color process on blondes, we hope to see brunettes and redheads (and maybe some gals with unicorn tresses) try them out - we can only imagine how magical they could look! Read on to see more examples of snowlights.
