Alessandra Ambrosio Is All of Us During a Hard AF Pilates Class
If you've ever taken a Pilates class, then you're familiar with that surprisingly satisfying (but also uncomfortable) pain that comes with it. Oftentimes, you make weird faces or give yourself internal "I can do it!" pep talks in front of the studio mirror to combat the discomfort. "It will all pay off," you tell yourself as you struggle through the moves.
And here's the thing: you're not alone. Pilates is super though - even for people who frequently practice it like Alessandra Ambrosio. The Brazilian model and Victoria's Secret Angel was recently spotted putting in some serious effort at an Los Angeles-area class.
Don't believe us? Keep scrolling to see pictures of Alessandra fighting her way through the sweat session. When you're done admiring her tongue-out efforts, take a scroll through some of her cutest workout outfits ever.
This 1 Tip Will Help Charge Your iPhone Faster
Image Source: POPSUGAR Photography / Mark Popovich
"My phone is dying - anyone have a charger?" We've all said that more than we'd like. Since a dead iPhone is useless, here is one tip you absolutely should follow whether you're using the Apple charger or a portable charger.
When you plug in your iPhone, swipe up from the bottom to access control center. There, switch on Airplane mode and your phone should start charging faster. To make it go even faster, don't keep the display on and don't use it.
I know, I know - this might be the most basic tip ever, but it's one that we clearly need to hear of more, considering I constantly see people not following this golden rule (myself included). Is it hard to stay off your phone? Yes, a little bit, but it'll make borrowing a charger feel less awkward and actually serve its purpose. Start following this and other tech tips that will make your life infinitely easier.

You Can Clean This New Beautyblender Product in Your Dishwasher
You may swear by your Beautyblender to get that airbrushed finish on skin, but no matter how perfectly the product is applied, you're wasting your time if you have the wrong foundation shade. We've all been there - you head to the department store for a new base, try it on in fluorescent lighting where it looks flawless, then head home to discover that you look like you're wearing a mask made of product.
If you, too, have a drawer of "someday" foundations and concealers, Beautyblender's newest launch is a must have. The Beautyblender Surface Simple ($30), a three-piece set consisting of an artist's palette, spatula, and carrying case, allows you to finally create the perfect custom-blended hue. Consider it your artist palette, on which to mix and match foundation formulas you already own until you make the perfect bespoke shade.
It's hard to tell from photos, but this tool is truly transparent. Even when it's in its case, the Surface Simple is completely clear. Squirt those slightly off foundations onto the palette and meld the tints together like a mad scientist. Once you think you're close to the right hue, hold it over your complexion. You'll be able to see your face beaneath it, so you can blend an exact foundation color on top to match your skin tone. You can also use it to concoct custom lipsticks, cream shadows, and contouring formulas.
Don't be confused if this product looks familiar to you. It should - Beautyblender actually released a palette (then known as Surface) a few years ago, only to pull it from shelves when users complained it didn't live up to their expectations.
"Our community of fans is so vocal - they are constantly sparking new product ideas," explained Alexis Tedesco, public relations representative for Beautyblender. (In fact, the Beautyblusher ($16) and Beautyblender Pure ($20) were developed after devotees pleaded for them.)
The new Surface Simple is a tremendous upgrade from its predecessor. The original, more flimsy Surface palette included mixing wells, which the brand did away with - after all, it's not too hygienic to save custom-blended shades for more than 24 hours. However, this revamped product comes with a practically airtight case, so if you're doing your makeup for a big event, you can stow away your bespoke hues for touch-ups later on.
Users also complained that the old spatula scratched the Surface, leaving hard-to-clean grooves and making the product look dingy. Both the case and the actual Surface Simple palette are made from an extremely sturdy acrylic, which won't get scratched by the included silicone-coated blending spatula. The product also comes with a silicone bumper, so that you can chuck it into your kit (even from across the room!) without fear of cracking the compact.
We're even excited about cleaning the Surface Simple, which is unusual for lazy makeup junkies like us. You can just swipe the whole thing with an alcohol wipe. Or pop it in the top rack of your dishwasher, and the palette will come out sparkling.
While $30 may seem a little steep to amateur artists, keep in mind that by now, you've likely spent triple that amount on abandoned foundations. The Surface Simple may not help you get better at picking the right color in the department store, but it will ensure you put every purchased bottle to good use. Read on to see more shots of the palette!

How Would You Spend $100 at the Grocery Store?
While $100 may seem like a solid amount of money, it goes FAST. Everyone spends differently, and this video from WatchCut is a really interesting look at how eight different households decided to divide up their precious dollars. It's insane how much just ONE necessary item, like diapers, can cost a family. One woman sees $100 as food for the whole week; another man thinks it would only last him a few days (or one indulgent night).
I'm pretty sure we were ALL the pizza roll- and pasta-eating college kid at one point in time, and if I'm being honest, I'm kind of still the wine guy from the video. Avocados plus a nice bottle of red is all you need for a week, right? One mom points out that for some families in other countries, $100 is actually closer to what they'd be allotted for a month. Check out the video, and see which household spending style you relate to.

I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant
I had to have a friend tell me I was pregnant over dinner.
There I was, chomping down on a taco at a Mexican restaurant, annoyed that they didn't serve margaritas, while lamenting my inability to get pregnant when she gave me a curious look.
"Kate, you are pregnant," she said, matter-of-factly.
I laughed it off. I had just finished telling her all the issues I'd been having with my body since going off my birth control pill:
I wasn't getting my period.
Yes, it's a telltale sign of pregnancy when you're "late," but mine didn't even show up. When I stopped taking birth control at the end of January after more than a decade of daily dosages, my body went through a roller-coaster recovery, one I assumed was still in progress. It was late March, and I still hadn't gotten a real, natural period. I had a few friends who waited months, one more than a year, to get their periods postpill, so I'd just assumed my menstrual cycle hadn't kick-started yet, either.
I'd put on weight.
I was definitely feeling a bit squidgy lately, but I'd attributed it to what most breathing adults blame - Winter. I let myself really enjoy the holidays, and when I noticed that those extra pounds hadn't shed off like they usually did by this point, I figured it was just my youthful metabolism closing up shop for good now that I'd turned 30.
I was exhausted.
All I wanted to do was nothing. The previous weekend was spent primarily on the couch, binge-watching Netflix in between spontaneous naps. One of the days, I never even got out of my pajamas. I certainly noticed that I was more lethargic than usual, but I blamed my slow-but-steady weight gain and, again, Winter. (It really is the ultimate scapegoat for being healthy, isn't it?)
My boobs were sore.
OK, I was probably in some form of denial about this one. Still, I'm not completely oblivious. I just attributed the symptom to something else. Tender breasts - along with irregular periods, weight gain, and lethargy - are typical side effects of getting off the pill.
No one was getting any.
Occasionally, some of these symptoms - including one day when I seemed to have superhuman abilities to smell the garbage in the trash chute down the hall of our apartment building (another shared symptom of going off the pill and pregnancy!) - would spur me to ask my husband if I might be pregnant. And then we'd have a good laugh. We'd hardly had any sex to speak of during this time due to crazy work schedules, my aforementioned laziness, and my crummy body image thanks to my aforementioned weight gain. Plus, although we had decided months ago to start trying to have a baby, we were waiting for me to get that elusive period before we really got down to business.
I wasn't nauseated.
I was certain I couldn't possibly have conceived because I hadn't had a single bout of morning sickness. Of course, it turns out it's actually more likely that pregnant women never experience any nausea - only 25 percent of women do.
So, there I was brushing off my friend's outlandish statement that I was, without a doubt, pregnant. I couldn't possibly be and not know it.
Turns out, I was. And I didn't.
The minute I got home from dinner, I took a pregnancy test, and it was positive. After my husband, this friend was the first person who heard the good news, though it wasn't exactly news to her.
Since then, when joking about the circumstances that led me to discovering I was having a baby, many people ask how I could have possibly not known. Sore boobs and weight gain?! Come on! It's obvious!
I can chalk some of it up to the fact that I was still nervous about getting pregnant, and maybe subconsciously, I blamed some of the more telling signs on the pill. But, the bigger issue was that I was more certain that something was wrong with my body than I was with the idea that it could be very much right, going through the normal, natural first stage of pregnancy.
Because I'd known people, this friend included, who'd had issues getting pregnant, I had spent the last few years with a sneaking suspicion that I could very well be infertile. I had absolutely no basis for it - other than the innumerable articles I'd read about age-related risk factors and the countless stories I'd hear of women struggling through IVF treatments - but it was nonetheless a genuine concern. Even now, I have friends who reveal to me that they're nervous they'll have trouble, including one who asked, "I spent my whole life trying not to get pregnant, but what if I never can?!" It was a thought I'd had so many times in recent years.
The truth is, women of a certain age and with a certain ticking clock are too inundated with all the noise of infertility when, according to the CDC, 96 percent of married women are blissfully fertile. Yes, conception issues are a possibility for women, and those issues become more likely with each passing year, but when that's all someone hears, they might begin to think that there's no chance they'll have an easy time of it.
Well, I clearly did. And very likely so will you.
China's Viral Lipstick Challenge Has a Distorted View of Body Image
I have a pretty big head (but it's not a bad thing, because often it makes me look taller!) and tight shoulders. So if I lived in China right now, I would probably fail the country's latest disturbing body challenge. Women are wrapping their arms around the back of their heads to apply lipstick. It proves that they have petite heads. If you recall, this comes on the heels of Asia's belly button challenge and A4 waist test.
We encourage you to see this news and then realize how out of whack body-image standards have become. You can't downsize your head (and like I mentioned, having a larger-than-average head can be an asset!). And while you can increase your flexibility, do it for your yoga practice, not your morning beauty routine.

5 Conversations to Have with Your Kids After The Jungle Book
The Jungle Book isn't just one of the must-see movies of the year, but it also offers some great life lessons and learning opportunities for your child. Our friends at Common Sense Media just outlined the five conversations to have with your little one to help them understand the powerful messages in their new favorite film.
The Jungle Book is an action-packed live-action/CGI adventure based on Rudyard Kipling's classic story of young Mowgli (Neel Sethi), an orphaned "man cub" raised as a wolf and hated by the jungle's most vicious predator, tiger Shere Khan. Inspired by Disney's 1967 animated musical and boasting an all-star voice cast (including Idris Elba, Bill Murray, Ben Kingsley, Christopher Walken, and Scarlett Johansson), it offers families plenty to talk about. Try these topics/questions to get started:
- Which scenes startled you? Were you expecting them? What tells us to expect something scary when we're watching a movie? How much scary stuff can young kids handle?.
- Which characters in the movie do you consider role models? Why? How do they demonstrate courage and teamwork? Why are those important character strengths?
- What mistakes does Mowgli make? What are the consequences of those mistakes? Why is it important for kids to see consequences in movies?
- Do you agree with Bagheera that Mowgli belongs in the man village? How do his talents and skills affect the characters around him? Is it wrong to change the way the jungle animals have always done things?
- How does this Jungle Book compare to Disney's classic animated one? Which do you like better, and why? The original has been criticized for the culturally insensitive way it depicts the apes. How does this version depict them?

How John Williams Gave the Most Subtle Hint About Rey's Parents in Star Wars
Star Wars: The Force Awakens finally hit theaters back in December, and it left a handful of lingering questions in its wake. For instance, who is Supreme Leader Snoke and where the heck is Daniel Craig? Perhaps the biggest mystery, though, is the identity of Rey's parents. There are a few theories out there, but this tiny detail seems to lean subtly into one: that Luke Skywalker is Rey's father. While many have noticed the similarities between Luke and Rey's respective themes, John Williams took it a step further by combining them in the original soundtrack for The Force Awakens, sneaking it into the end of the credits. The result is seamless, beautiful, and awfully telling. Listen in the clip above, then find out everything we know about Episode VIII.
This Star Wars Theory Breaks Down Why Obi-Wan Kenobi May Be Rey's Grandfather
If you're anything like us, you came away from watching Star Wars: The Force Awakens with 1.) a reinvigorated love of the franchise, and 2.) quite a few questions. While we acknowledge the fact that we won't be getting answers to most of our queries anytime soon (no matter how many times we obsess over the the recently released DVD), that hasn't stopped us from theorizing about perhaps the most maddeningly frustrating part of episode seven: who the hell are Rey's parents?! There is a good deal of information out there that supports Rey being a Skywalker, but there's also a strong case for her being the long-lost granddaughter of Obi-Wan Kenobi. Keep reading to see how we break down each theory below, and check out the exciting new information that could connect Rey to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

The Amazing Way This Fitbit Saved a Man's Life
When a 42-year-old man went into the emergency room after his seizure, it was his Fitbit Charge HR that saved his life. For those who are not familiar with the model, it has a built-in heart rate monitor that tracks your pulse via an LED sensor. Doctors were able to use the man's heart rate information to determine the best course of treatment.
According to Gizmodo, it was the first time a fitness tracker was used in this type of setting. The Fitbit information helped determine whether the high and erratic heartbeat the man suffered prior to his seizure was chronic or episodic. Doctors were able to tell that the seizure caused an atrial fibrillation - an abnormal heartbeat - and were able to perform a electrocardioversion to reset the heart's rhythm back to its regular pattern. Had it been a chronic condition, performing this method could have potentially caused a stroke or killed the man.
In a report that appears in the Annals of Emergency Medicine, a clinical team wrote:
During the patient's examination, it was noted that he was wearing a wrist activity tracker (Fitbit Charge HR, Fitbit, San Francisco, CA), which was synchronized with an application on the patient's smartphone, recording his pulse rate as part of a fitness program. The application was accessed on the patient's smartphone and revealed a baseline pulse rate between 70 and 80 beats/min, with an immediate persistent increase to a range of 140 to 160 bpm at the approximate time of the patient's seizure. The pulse rate remained elevated until administration of the diltiazem in the field.
If you're still on the fence about whether to get a Fitbit, this probably has you convinced you need one stat.

11 Preventative Antiaging Treatments For Women in Their 20s
I was looking intently at my computer screen the other day when I saw something that made me jump: my reflection, squinting at the screen, with my forehead deeply furrowed. Though I take good care of my skin by wearing SPF and doing all those things you're supposed to do, in that moment, I realized that I could either stop making facial expressions or start investing in some preventative antiaging products.
I'm not the type of person to subscribe to a slew of intense retinol-packed creams and serums - given that I am still in my early 20s - but I do think there are a few things you can do to maintain your youthful appearance and delay the inevitable (aging). One of them is by comitting yourself to preventative moisturizing, the practice of combatting fine lines with a moisture-rich skin care regimen instead of Botox and the like.
Here, I've rounded up some of the most hydrating, tone-improving, and line-reducing treatments and serums out there for women in their 20s who'd like to get a head start on antiaging.

Former Fighting Pit Bull Rescued and Given the Good Life He Deserves
A few months ago, Justice Rescue officer Russ Harper rescued a Pit Bull from the streets in Pennsylvania. He brought him in to his animal shelter, and this photo is the moment he held him in his arms and showed him love for possibly the first time in the pup's life. Due to the extreme condition he was found in, Russ and his colleagues determined the dog was probably used for fighting.
Russ and Justice Rescue, along with the help of volunteers and vets, nursed the dog back to good health and named him Remi. His story was closely documented on social media, including by Dawn Timmeney of the local Fox affiliate, and naturally everyone fell in love with Remi. Fast forward to this week, and Remi is still doing amazing, according to BarkPost. As you can tell, he absolutely adores his rescuer, Russ.

44 Disney Cruise Hacks You Need to Know Before Sailing
We've all got it wrong, because the happiest place on earth is not a Disney park, but a Disney cruise. Yep, I said it. I love Disneyland and Disney World as much as the next Disney devotee, but there are some drawbacks to the parks (like hordes of people, inescapable heat, and long lines) that you just don't deal with while sailing blissfully on blue seas. I recently took the Disney Fantasy's Western Caribbean trip for seven nights, and while I went in a little hesitant about the whole affair, my skepticism about being on board a ship with thousands of people - many of whom barely reached my waist - was checked at the entrance of the ship and buried deeper as the days went by.
Disney fans, book your cruise ASAP. Non-Disney fans, book your Disney cruise ASAP, because you can embrace Disney entirely aboard the ship or avoid it, and still have a VIP experience either way. Star Wars buffs, book your cruise on the Fantasy and have a special day at sea that biggest fans can only dream of.

Hush Is a Terrifying, Brilliant New Horror Movie, and It's Currently on Netflix
If you're a diehard horror fan, listen up. There's a new indie horror movie on the block, and it may just be one of 2016's most chilling films to date. It's called Hush; it premiered at SXSW this year, and it's available to stream on Netflix. It might be just the thing you need to tide you over while you wait for this year's other new horror movies. But Hush isn't just you're average scare, and it's not a thoughtless scary trash heap that was hastily assembled and sent out into the void. The movie is good. It holds its own among other recent indie horror movies that left a lasting impression, like the endlessly unsettling It Follows or the psychological bravado that was The Babadook. Feeling curious? Read on to find out why we loved it.
- It's original. We've seen home invasion movies before (think The Strangers, Panic Room, or You're Next), but we've never seen one quite like this. In fact, I don't ever recall the use of a deaf character - Maddie, in this case - as a storytelling device, and it makes for an incredibly compelling narrative. The best part is, Maddie's deafness isn't just a gimmick. It's not quickly forgotten or pushed to the side. It's woven intricately through the fabric of the film. It plays so much into Maddie's character, her lifestyle, and her world.
- It's plausible. Upon first glance, it might seem entirely impractical that a deaf, mute woman lives all alone in the woods. And yet, the backstory is strong. She's there for a good reason. She has people checking in on her, including family and a friendly neighbor. Even the logistics of some psychopath stomping around and tormenting her don't seem far-fetched. He takes her phone, cuts the power, and slashes her tires. It's a very real situation, with a very slim chance of escape.
- It's quiet. This movie does not rely on jump scares or a tense score to inspire dread. Sure, there are moments that could be considered jump scares, and there is certainly music at points. Even so, those touches don't come across as cheap, and they don't seem like a crutch. In fact, on the whole, the movie is pretty quiet. The horror builds in the silence. A few of the most terrifying sequences occur in a space devoid of sound. We spend scenes in Maddie's head, which effectively reduces all audio to faraway thumps.
- It keeps you guessing. Just when you think you know which direction the film is heading, it takes a sharp left. Despite the fact that the premise is so straightforward, Maddie's - and her assailant's - actions really keep you on your toes. It's this unpredictability that is both thrilling and compelling. It draws us in and keeps us there.
- It builds exquisite tension. Despite the fact that Hush falls under the "home invasion" subgenre of horror, the attacker doesn't actually spend more than 10 minutes inside the house. He spends the rest of his time walking the house's perimeter and tormenting Maddie in unimaginable ways. Whenever she exits the house, it's a heartpounding sequence to see if she'll make it safely back inside.
- It's smart. The best kinds of movies drop breadcrumbs in the film's first act and offer a payoff in the final act. This comes into play a lot in Hush as facets of Maddie's character, first presented in the very first scenes, become huge parts of the climax. Even notable objects from the film's opening prove to be crucial components of the chilling ending.

Find Out Why This App Is More Popular Than Facebook
Image Source: POPSUGAR Photography / THEM TOO
Group text messages are one of the best and worst parts of life. One friend will ask the group who wants to eat and even if you can't go, the thread suddenly derails into picking out a place to go. That situation should no longer be an issue once you download a new app on the rise called Down to Lunch.
The app, created around the Summer of 2015, has a pretty basic concept. First, you select what activity you want to do, like eat lunch or go for a drink. Then, pick whether you want to notify all your friends or just a few. The app will send a notification to your friends on the app and see who's free and ready to join you. You can also choose the location in which you want to do said activity. In short, it finds friends who are down to do something and eliminates the issue of group-thread hell. An example of what the screen looks like is below.

Currently, this app is sitting in the number four spot in the App store, above Facebook - but right below Messenger and Snapchat. And it totally makes absolute sense that this app is more popular than Facebook. With Down to Lunch, gone are the days of messaging a group thread to either receive total silence or attempt to coordinate where and with who. One simple tap and either someone will hang with you or not. You can get the app on both iOS and Android.
So, the next time your phone battery starts to die due to a group text gone rogue and you wonder what you ever did to deserve one of the worst millennial problems ever, just download this app.
The Lunge Variation That Adds Lift to Your Butt
Lunges are a lower-body staple if you're looking for a strong, sculpted backside. But for an even perkier butt, try this minor variation in your lunging routine. The curtsy lunge targets your inner thighs as well as your glute medius, a smaller butt muscle that helps stabilize hips to help improve your posture. The result? You look taller and thinner, with a rounder backside as well. Basically, this move is one you need in your Summer shape-up routine. Learn how to do the backside-boosting lunge variation below.
- Start from standing, and step your left leg behind you and to the right so your thighs cross, bending both knees as if you were curtsying. Make sure your front knee is aligned with your front ankle.
- Return to standing, and switch sides to complete one rep.
- Do three sets of 12 to 15 reps.

RHONY's Dorinda Couldn't Hide Her Jealousy Over This Item in Bethenny's Closet
Bethenny Frankel exposed some true eye candy on season eight of The Real Housewives of New York: her closet. While the reality TV star and Skinnygirl founder repeatedly quipped that the closet in her just-completed Manhattan apartment is tiny compared to the one in her previous place – estranged husband Jason Hoppy lives there – we found it palatial. Seriously, there are entire NYC apartments smaller than Bethenny's closet! But we digress; Bethenny's luxe walk-in closet features white molding-clad shelving and cabinets with modern silver hardware. The rows of hanging garments, folded clothing, and designer shoes are illuminated by internal track lighting, and a ladder allows access to the upper storage areas.
Bethenny's jewelry, watches, and valuables are immaculately stored in her closet's pièce de résistance – that which even Dorinda couldn't conceal her envy over in episode two – a Traum safe. To understand why Dorinda was so in awe, first consider the price of a Traum safe. These bespoke safes, which are used to protect the valuables of royalty and billionaires, range from about $35,000 to $205,000. With that price tag comes the "security of a Swiss Vault" and luxurious details like high-end watch winders to keep automatic watches ticking on time and custom interiors made to accommodate your individual jewelry collection. In addition to beautifully organizing valuables, Traum safes provide serious protection against theft and fire and can even be bolted to the floor for additional theft protection. From the look of Bethenny's safe, it appears to be the Cosmopolitan model, but since they're all made to order, it's hard to be sure.
Get a detailed look at Bethenny's closet in the show extra clip above, and look for the Traum safe on an upcoming episode of RHONY.
