Every Classic Tegan and Sara Song You Need to Hear Before Their New Album Comes Out

Sisters and indie duo Tegan and Sara are set to release their eighth studio album, Love You to Death, on June 3. Yet, that doesn't mean you have to wait that long in order to enjoy some of the heart-throbbing indie pop hits they're known for.

Though we have their first single, "Boyfriend," to tide us over, their new album makes for a perfect excuse to reminisce on Tegan and Sara's earlier work. The Canadian twins have been recording for more than a decade but have consistently written lyrics about unrequited love, loneliness, and crushes their entire career. As a Tegan and Sara megafan, I made it my mission to curate some of their most defining songs. Consider it the unofficial Tegan and Sara musical encyclopedia - whether you're a newbie or old-school fan of the pair.

Alexis Bledel and Vincent Kartheiser's Brooklyn Home Is a Minimalist's Dream

Alexis Bledel and Vincent Kartheiser have officially sold their incredibly chic Brooklyn Heights duplex for $1.32 million - a slight discount from the original $1.56 million asking price.

With its impressively high ceilings, the one bedroom, two bathroom pad is the penthouse floor of a stunning, baroque-style building from the late 19th century. While we already know Kartheiser has some pretty great taste, given the look of his former Hollywood cabin, this apartment has a slightly more modern, minimalist feel that's made cozier by the use of packed bookcases and varying works of art. Now that we think about it, this place kind of looks like how Rory Gilmore's apartment might have looked had she ended up with Jess. (We're still holding out hope for those two.)

Keep reading for a look inside this beautiful home that's one of Brooklyn's best.

Starbucks Is Bringing Back the S'mores Frappuccino, All Is Right in the World

It's not Summer until you bite into your first s'more . . . or sip on your first s'mores Frappuccino. Thankfully, Starbucks announced over the weekend it is bringing back this fan favorite this year after introducing the beverage last year. In case you haven't tried the campfire-inspired drink, here's a refresher: it's a a blend of graham- and marshmallow-flavored coffee, milk, and ice, topped with marshmallow-infused whipped cream and milk chocolate sauce. The best part? The graham cracker crumble on top. Unsurprisingly, "Customers have been asking for this summertime beverage since it was first introduced last Summer," Starbucks said in a statement, so we're pumped to see it on the menu again.

If you're among the s'mores-obsessed, you know what to do - sip on this cold s'mores coffee drink while you make a s'mores dessert. You can find the s'mores Frappuccino in participating locations from now until the end of Summer.

Eating Disorder Treatment Is Sadly Scarce in Japan

Women around the world struggle with insecurities about weight and their appearance daily. Many suffer in silence, but in America there is at least an abundance of access to recovery programs and rehabilitation centers. Women in Japan are not as lucky. Culturally, Japanese women are often afraid to vocally admit their disorder because it is perceived as shameful. According to a woman interviewed by BBC, "they feel they have to hide it. Parents may think they are wasting food so that might stop them seeking help."

A staggeringly small amount of Japanese women sought treatment for eating disorders in 2014: 10,000 people compared to the United Kingdom's 725,000. When you consider the size of Japan's population, 123 million people in 2013, that is an appalling low number. The medical system in Japan is clearly failing in some capacity to address the stigma of eating disorders. While the government committed to bringing awareness to the issue in 2014, it only sponsors a "handful of community support groups." They have hopes to improve this lack in the future.

Eating disorders are obviously layered and stem from a complex range of issues. However, the crux of eating disorders globally is related to standards of beauty and the idea that only skinny is beautiful. A trend to see if women could wrap an arm around their stomach to touch their belly button exemplifies this glorification of unnatural thinness. Japan, in particular, has only just begun to attempt to reconfigure this ideal. But there is hope, as more people begin to speak about the issue more people will come forward.

5 Things You Should Do Every Morning If You Want to Be Healthy

In those first years out of college, I struggled with the transition into "real adulthood." Adulting is hard! But as I started to make health and self-care more of a priority, I realized that I was lacking a solid morning routine. Fast-forward to today, and the routine I've established has helped set the tone for a healthy day, every day. Aside from the universal tip of "eat breakfast," here are the top five things that have helped me rise and shine; try these for a morning of wellness!

Oil Pull

Before you start saying "oil pulling is so 2014," hear me out. I grind my teeth at night, and I know I'm not alone in this. In addition to the possible oral health benefits, oil pulling exercises a stiff jaw to alleviate pain, forces you to get up 20 minutes earlier, and acts as a chemical-free mouthwash.

Stretch

While I oil pull, I stretch. I take this time to relax, meditate a bit, and warm up my body for the day. If I have time or get up early enough, I go to yoga or do a few Sun Salutations in my room. I know I'll be in a desk chair all day, so I try to carve out some time to always get a good stretch session in.

Drink Lemon Water

A room-temperature glass of lemon water has tons of health benefits: alongside improved hydration, you'll get a vitamin C boost for glowing skin, a metabolism boost, and a mood boost.

Care For Your Skin

I don't have an extreme 11-step Korean skin care routine, but I do have a pretty solid lineup for my skin. I cleanse my skin with Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel and my Clarisonic, then tone, apply serum, and moisturize. Twice a week, I use a peel, and three times a week, I use a retexturizing scrub. And you know what? I never knew my skin could be this good! The byproduct of this is that I now look forward to waking up (don't judge me) to go through my skin care routine.

Take Vitamins

I take B12 for energy, omega-3 for mood and muscle health, and vitamin E for hair, skin, and nails. If I'm drinking my vitamins in a shake, I use Vega One powder mixed with some coconut milk. At the risk of sounding like your mom, take your vitamins!

Prince Was One of Misty Copeland's Biggest Fans

While Prince's passing was a huge shock, it's no surprise that the ultimate purveyor of soul and cool was a devoted ballet fan - and one of Misty Copeland's first fans. Years before she became famous for her inspiring commercials and status as the first black principal dancer for the American Ballet Theater, in 2009, Prince selected Misty to appear in his music video for "Crimson and Clover." The rest is history. Misty joined the icon on tour in Europe and for his "Welcome 2 America" shows at Madison Square Garden in New York.

While it's safe to say Misty's success is the result of her own talents, Prince certainly ensured she got the attention and accolades she deserved. In 2015, his funding was critical to the production of a documentary about Misty's life, A Ballerina's Tale, and he continuously donated to the American Ballet Theater throughout his career. Below is a video of the two stars performing together on Lopez Tonight.

Natural Oven Cleaner For Baked-On Grime

If you've got a dirty secret hiding in your kitchen, then it's time to take care of it. Instead of purchasing a chemical-filled oven cleaner, make your own to leave your oven looking sparkling clean. And guess what? This DIY costs basically nothing to make and doesn't involve breaking a sweat. You won't be embarrassed to open your oven during dinner parties ever again after trying this homemade cleaning concoction!

What You'll Need:

  • 1/4 cup liquid dish soap
  • 1/2 cup baking soda
  • 1/4 cup hydrogen peroxide
  • Zest of one lemon
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • Scrub sponge
  • Paper towels

Directions:

  1. Even if you're dealing with years of baked-on grime (like with this oven), giving it a quick wipe-down with warm, soapy water with a scrub sponge is a great starting point for tackling the mess. Rinse the sponge often to remove grease.
  2. Mix together the ingredients until it resembles thick glue. The baking soda naturally scrubs without scratching, while the hydrogen peroxide and dish soap tackle all that gunk. Lemon zest offers a fresh scent along with the vinegar.
  1. Remove the racks and use a paper towel or sponge to smooth the cleaner all over the inside of the oven, including the oven door. You'll see it start working right away, but don't be tempted to scrub! The longer the concoction sits, the better. Once you've run out of cleaner and the oven is coated, shut the door and let it work its magic for at least four hours.
  1. Open the oven and use a damp scrub sponge to remove the cleaner, and also give a little scrub here and there. It's helpful to have a bucket of warm, soapy water nearby for this step. And without any serious scrubbing, the oven is noticeably cleaner!
  1. Set your oven to self-clean, and close the door. It's OK if some of the cleaner is hanging around in crevices or on areas that were really baked-on, but the entire oven shouldn't still be coated while it's cleaning. Allow your oven to run its self-clean cycle, and then let cool for at least an hour before the next step.
  2. Open your oven and use a damp paper towel or sponge to wipe away any remaining cleaner and residue left over from the self-cleaning. The result is a sparkling-clean oven!

The 1 Cleaning Product Everyone Should Have in Their Home

Everyone has their favorite cleaning products, but I'm here to lay down the law. The best, most versatile product you can have in your home is a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. No, I'm not being asked to endorse it - I just love it. Like, a lot.

For those of you who have not been blessed with a Magic Eraser, let me tell you what it is. It's a powerful sponge with microscrubbers that get into tiny surface grooves, so it lifts away tough grease and grime. Here's why it's the best thing you can have to clean your home:

1. All you have to do is add water.

Soak the eraser in water, squeeze out the excess moisture, and get to scrubbing. It eliminates any additional cleaning products, so using it doesn't seem like such a huge task.

2. It will literally clean anything.

Seriously, you name it, the Magic Eraser can clean it. I've used it on counters, bathtubs, walls, doors, floors, and even my favorite pair of tennis shoes. You don't even have to scrub very hard to see marks and stains go away.

3. It doesn't just remove marks and stains; it cleans the surfaces they're on, too.

When you're using a Magic Eraser, it's like you're using an all-purpose spray cleaner, too. You're removing gross germs that come along with marks and stains.

So do you agree with my love for the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser? It's awesome because of its ability to adapt to just about any surface. Plus, it's so simple to use. Let us know what you think!

If These iPhone Rumors Are True, Everything Will Be Perfect

It feels like the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus just hit shelves, but the tech world is already abuzz with rumors about Apple's next installment, the iPhone 7. Much of the speculation is taking place on the Chinese version of Twitter, Weibo. While many possible features are great, one in particular isn't going over well with some people. Here's what you might be able to expect when the iPhone 7 comes around.

  • Two cameras: The iPhone 7 Plus is rumored to come in two versions: a regular one with just a single camera and another with two cameras. One will be a wide angle lens and the other a telephoto one, says a report from Apple Insider. If both cameras exist on a single iPhone, you can expect to see better resolution and zoom.
  • Wireless charging: Start saying goodbye to chargers that bend and break. According to a report by Bloomberg, Apple might introduce wireless charging for its smartphones in 2017. A charger would still exist but the iPhone could charge over the air. No word yet on how far you can be from a charger to do this.
  • An iPhone without a headphone connection: Several sources are speculating that the next iPhone will no longer come with a headphone jack. Instead, people can either use earphones that can connect in the Lightning port or use wireless Bluetooth ones. Some people are extremely upset about this change and over 200,000 have even signed a petition against it.
  • Bigger battery:: The new iPhone will comes with a battery that's bigger than current ones - a 3100 mAh battery to be exact, according to Chinese website MyDrivers . This doesn't necessarily mean longer battery life, but we can only hope.
  • A 256GB storage option: Current iPhone models come in 16GB, 64GB, and 128GB storage options, so the 256GB model would be a nice option if the leak reported by MyDrivers is true.
  • A completely waterproof phone: Mac Otakara also claims that early iPhone 7 prototypes are both dustproof and waterproof, reports Mashable.
  • Liquid Metal body: Because Apple owns patents with Liquid Metal Inc., many rumors suggest that the next iPhone will skip plastic and aluminum bodies in favor of a new material.
  • A completely flat LCD screen: Forget curved edges - Apple will reportedly stick to a classic, flat-screened iPhone model.
  • A barely there home button: The home button you know and click, might go away for a more "touch-sensitive" one, according to 9to5Mac. The rumors, coming from Chinese site, Storm, state that the new phone would use haptic feedback (the same technology behind 3D Touch), to replace the home button.

On top of the cool iPhone 6S features (like live photos) that we're still obsessing over, these changes would be pretty drastic. What do you hope Apple will change about the iPhone 7?

4 Big Things We Already Know About the Eventual End of Game of Thrones

Since the sixth season of Game of Thrones has only just premiered, it might seem a little bit premature to already be talking about the series finale of the much-loved fantasy drama. Still, pieces of information surrounding its inevitable conclusion have been building up little by little lately, so it's time to acknowledge that - eventually - Sunday nights will forever be void of Daenerys, Jon Snow, Tyrion, and the rest of your GOT favorites. Keep reading to see each tidbit we've managed to get our hands on so far, and check out everything you need to know about the season premiere's biggest twist.

The Game of Thrones Premiere Is Not the First Time We Saw Melisandre Without Her Necklace

This week's Game of Thrones season premiere let us in on a big secret: the "Red Woman," Melisandre, is actually hundreds of years old and conceals her true, extremely old form with magic. We have a lot of questions about Melisandre and that jarring final scene, but it seems pretty clear that her necklace - which we have seen glow red - is key to making her appear young and beautiful. While this was a shock for just about every Game of Thrones watcher, there is actually a theory going around that Melisandre may have shown off her real form to another character - we just didn't know it.

Vanity Fair points out that Stannis Baratheon's wife, Selyse, comes to talk to Melisandre while she is in the bath in episode seven of season four. You can watch the scene here, but essentially, she is in the bath naked, as one usually is. Naked as in, no glowing necklace, which is the accessory she removes this week to be Old Melisandre.

So there are two possibilites here: either the necklace is not the source of Melisandre's age-cloaking, or as these Redditors have theorized, Selyse can see Melisandre in her true form. The theory essentially states that Selyse's expression comes from seeing Melisandre as she really is, and the only reason she doesn't freak out is that she is so faithful in the Lord of the Light and Melisandre's power. Plus, this is a scene that does not happen in the books, and it's when Melisandre also takes the time to explain powers, potions, and tricks that she uses on men.

10 Questions We All Have About That Melisandre Scene on Game of Thrones

I think we can all agree that some weird stuff goes down on Game of Thrones' season six premiere. Chief among these strange goings-on is the scene in which Melisandre sheds her dress - and her youth goes with it. It's a stunning conclusion to the season opener, and we have a lot of questions about it. Unfortuntely, we don't have a ton of answers yet, but here's what we do know.

  1. Exactly how old is she? We don't know an exact age, but the writers have talked about her age range.
  2. How is the necklace tied to her appearance? She tranforms right after she takes it off, so that has to have something to do with it, right?
  3. What about that time she takes off her necklace in the bath? Maybe not so much, then.
  1. Does she transform like that every night? What if someone walks in to wake her up early or something?
  2. Why not at least put on a nightgown? It has to be really cold at the Wall.
  3. Why does she look so angry? Crisis of faith aside, she looks pissed.
  1. Why are we just seeing this now? Melisandre has been on the show for so long that it seems like a very deliberate choice to do this reveal right now.
  2. Is it to hint that she may be using her powers to resurrect Jon Snow? One of the strongest theories about how Jon will return to the show is that Melisandre brings him back to life. Perhaps the writers are showing us this now to prep us for the Red Woman to sacrifice herself for Jon.
  3. When the Dothraki men are talking about white-haired women with Daenerys, is that just foreshadowing this scene? This is a stretch, but it does seem like a funny coincidence.
  4. Are we going to see her in this form again? We just need to brace ourselves, is all.

Nathan Fillion Is in Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Rounding Out the Perfect Cast

The sequel to Guardians of the Galaxy might still be a year or two away, but thankfully director James Gunn has been providing plenty of behind-the-scenes action to keep us going until then. Along with Marvel, Gunn recently announced an official cast list for the film, which not only hosts the original's quintet of Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, and Dave Bautista, but also a mysterious new role for Kurt Russell. Will he play Star-Lord's dad, as many fans have speculated thus far? Only time will tell. Keep reading to see the entire stellar cast, and check out the hilarious blooper reel from the first movie!

How to Be a Highly Effective Person, as Told by Veep

Selina Meyer and her malfunctioning staff are back for season five of Veep with as much bite and sarcasm as ever. In the world of the show, foul-mouthed, egocentric bullying is how stuff gets done, and while the satire may sometimes hit a little too close to home in the current election, we're still laughing harder than ever at Veep's outrageous antics and blistering insults. Because, let's be real - we all secretly wish we could behave like this every now and then.

Dancing With the Stars: These Behind-the-Scenes Pictures Are Definitely a 10/10

Dancing With the Stars season 22 is quickly moving along. Not only did the show celebrate its magical Disney night, but there have already been some incredible dances. From Jodie Sweetin's chilling performance about her struggle with addiction to Nyle DiMarco's shirtless Tarzan tribute, the competition is definitely heating up. Even though they're all competing against each for the mirror ball trophy, the stars are like one big family when they're not on the ballroom floor. Keep scrolling to see some of their best Instagram snaps and then check out which Fuller House stars have stopped by to support Sweetin.

Why Channing Tatum Won Our Hearts in She’s the Man

Before Channing Tatum showed us his moves in Step Up, made us crack up in 22 Jump Street, or stripped down in Magic Mike XXL, he did all of those things as Duke in the 2006 film She's the Man. He first caught our eyes in the comedy alongside Amanda Bynes, playing a charming, silly, and slightly ditzy soccer player with a penchant for taking his shirt off. To celebrate Tatum's birthday on Tuesday, we're reliving all the reasons we love the movie, from crazy antics to adorable insecurities and constant shirtlessness.

Ellen Pompeo Gets Brutally Honest About Patrick Dempsey's Departure on Grey's Anatomy

Ellen Pompeo thinks Grey's Anatomy is doing just fine without Patrick Dempsey. The actress stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Monday and got brutally honest about his character's devastating death and the fate of the show. "It's amazing how much you get done without a penis," she told the host before adding, "We miss him dearly, but yeah, the show is doing very well." Even though there were rumors that Dempsey's exit signaled the end of the show, Pompeo confirmed that is simply not true. "No, it's not the last season. I think a lot of people were really upset about his departure, which is super understandable, but I think the change is part of the reason why the show goes on so long." See the full video above, and then check out some of the most heartbreaking songs from the series.

This Star Wars Pop-Up Restaurant Sounds Like Something Out of Every Fan's Dream

Did you miss your chance to dine at Disney World's Star Wars pop-up restaurant? No need to get emotional like Kylo Ren, as another Star Wars pop-up is coming to London.

The event, titled "The Fork Awakens," promises "Foodtroopers," a Jedi lightsaber drink, hutt dogs, and "special spacefood." It will take place during seven specific dates in June and July and costs around $79 to attend. Created by Barrel and Forks, a company that mixes art and food to create a "dining experience" in London, the galactic-themed celebration looks pretty promising. You can see the full menu below.

We're no strangers to themed cafes and restaurants, but this looks like a perfect event to attend if you're already traveling to Europe. If not, you can always try to re-create a similar vibe with Star Wars-themed foods - it'll almost feel the same.

This Latte Art Instagram Account Is So Pretty, You'll Wonder How People Even Drink the Coffee

The colorful food trend is one way to spice up food, like rainbow bagels or grilled cheese. You can now add another item to the list: a rainbow latte Instagram account.

Each stunning creation is the handiwork of Mason Salisbury, a technista who works at Sambalatte in Las Vegas. His title reflects the majority of his work, which involves being the go-to person who understands the technical information of an espresso machine. His talent has reached new heights with the rainbow lattes, which are created by adding food coloring to the milk poststeam.

While plenty of latte art exists, this is definitely super impressive and we're kind of in love with it. Check out some of Salisbury's finished cups ahead and be sure to join his other 9,000 followers on Instagram.

20 Absurd Struggles Only Millennials Could Understand

If you fall into the category of being a millennial, chances are you've been told you're entitled, lazy, and too connected to the Internet. While none of these characteristics may apply to you, or even encompass what it means to be part of the generation, the time has come to embrace the title.

Being in this group means growing up on the cusp of using AIM and Facebook. Some of us might still even read paperback books. But we also have a handle on technology that's just as good as an iPad-obsessed toddler. It's our way of living, and other generations might not understand it, but that's totally OK.

Ahead, check out 21 things only our generation would understand. Let's cheers to our smartphones, laptops, and really, all technology - we wouldn't know who we'd be without it. (Probably still entitled, right?) Read the list, celebrate the millennials of the world, and while you're at it, take all the selfies you want.

This Depressing Photo Captures What's Wrong With Weddings These Days

These days, people snap every meal they eat, so it's only natural to want to capture precious moments during a wedding ceremony. But at what point does wedding etiquette become completely broken? Australian photographer Thomas Stewart posted a rant on Facebook that criticized wedding guests for taking pictures during the ceremony with their devices. The accompanying photo shows a groom forced to lean to the side in order to see his bride going down the aisle. Thomas argues that couples should enforce a "completely unplugged wedding ceremony" because guests aren't truly present and can ruin the photographer's shots when they're using phones and tablets. "You are witnesses to their marriage, so for goodness sake, watch them with your eyes and your minds, not your phones."

Here's his full post, which has since gone viral:

Right, I've had enough. I want to talk to you all about guests using mobile phones / cameras at weddings. I want to...
Posted by Thomas Stewart Photography on Thursday, November 5, 2015

Thomas does make valid points - the couple hired a professional photographer for a reason. So next time you attend a wedding ceremony, enjoy the momentous occasion by keeping your electronics in your pocket or purse. And future newlyweds, you might want to consider a device-free wedding!

Dog owners, this might turn you into a pile of mush. Titled "What my dog does when I leave," this YouTube video shows what happens when you attach a GoPro to your dog once you step out the door. The video has been viewed over 18 million times.

Kind of the opposite of the best use of a GoPro, when someone attached it to a bottle of Fireball at a wedding and passed it around.

Lottery Horror Stories That Will Make You Think Twice About Buying That Ticket

Before you run out to buy a lottery ticket for the next Mega Millions drawing, there's something you need to know. The large prize could likely turn out to be a curse for whoever wins it. Most people have heard about lottery winners who lost it all, but sometimes these horror stories take especially calamitous turns. Below are nine blights you will avoid by not winning the lottery.

Divorce

Thomas and Denise Rossi were married for 25 years without any marital issues. Then, out of the blue, she asked for a divorce. Little did her husband know that days before filing, she had won $1.3 million, a secret she kept throughout the divorce proceedings. Once the truth came out, a judge found her guilty of violating California's disclosures law and awarded the entire winnings to her ex-husband.

Fire

Brits Roger and Lara Griffiths won about $3 million playing the lotto. She bought designer goods and he pursued a rock career, but soon it all went up in smoke. They lost money in bad investments, and their dream home, which they had borrowed against, burned down in a freak fire.

Murder

The story of ‪Abraham Shakespeare is a truly tragic one. The Florida man had dropped out of school in seventh grade and could not read. At the age of 40, he won the $30 million jackpot. After he won, he couldn't say no to those who asked for money, even letting homeless ‬people live in his home. That trust could have been his downfall. After Dorice Donegan "Dee-Dee" Moore "befriended" Abraham, he went missing. He was eventually found buried in a concrete slab at the home of Moore's boyfriend, and she was convicted of his murder.

Gambling

Evelyn Adams seemed lucky. She won the New Jersey lottery not once, but two times, raking up a prize of over $5.4 million. It didn't last long, though, as she squandered it on a gambling habit and ended up living in a trailer.

Hookers

If you win the lottery, beware of hookers. A love for cocaine and call girls cost Michael Carroll everything after he blew his $14 million winnings on the high life.

Thieves

Jack Whittaker‬ won $314 million on Christmas Day. While Jack pledged 10 percent of his winnings to charity, the world wasn't so kind to him. Less than a year after he won, thieves broke into his car and stole $545,000 in cash. Another time, thieves stole $200,000 from his car (you would think he would find another place to keep his money). And if that wasn't enough, a strip club manager and dancer also conspired to drug him and take his money.

Suicide

It took Billie Bob Harrell Jr. 20 months to lose the $31 million he won in the Texas lottery. He quit his job at Home Depot and donated to charity, including 480 turkeys to the poor. But soon his spending got out of control, and people started to harass him for money. After he separated from his wife, his son found him dead from suicide.

Taxes

Tonda Lynn Dickerson worked at Waffle House. A generous regular gave the staff lottery tickets, and one day Tonda discovered that she had the winning ticket worth $10 million. While the rest of the employees alleged that they had all previously agreed to split a winning ticket, Tonda decided to keep it all for herself. They sued her and lost, but karma came back to bite Tonda when the IRS sued her for unpaid taxes.

Crack

Willie Hurt won $3.1 million in 1981. Two years later, he was broke after spending all his money on crack and was charged with murder.

Still think you could handle winning the lottery? There are some lottery stories that had happy endings, after all.

11 Things You Need to Throw Away

The first step to taking care of yourself and de-stressing is to make sure that your environment is in order. Seeing your house full of clutter can affect your mood negatively and make your personal space seem like a place you want to escape from, rather than something to look forward to coming home to. Organize a "throwing out" day every month to make sure that you don't have clutter building up. Here are some things you should consider purging from your home, and download our printable to help you get rid of items you don't need!

1. Old magazines

Get rid of old magazines you have lying around because chances are, you aren't going to read them again. Find places where you can donate your magazines to such as child care centers, doctor's offices, nail salons, nursing homes, and libraries. If there's an article that really speaks to you, scan a digital image of it and keep it in your computer. Or keep a folder of magazine clippings if you like saving magazine articles.

2. Receipts, bills, and documents

Throw away receipts for items that you aren't planning on returning, and ones that you won't need to use come tax time. If you're wary of throwing away receipts, you can make a digital copy of them with a basic scanner, a pricey specialized receipt scanner ($180), or a smartphone app ($5). See here for a full list of documents you should keep forever or temporarily.

3. Clothes

Use the two-year-rule for clothes - get rid of apparel that you haven't worn in two years. Sell them to a thrift store (find a thrift store at thethriftshopper.com) or donate them to the needy.

4. Books

Go through your bookshelf and gather together books you haven't touched in months and ones that you aren't planning on rereading. Be realistic and make sure you're ruthless. If you haven't touched it in a year, you're most likely not going to read it again. Sell the books on Amazon, Craigslist, or eBay. You can even trade them for something else on swap.com. You can always donate them as well!

5. Medicine and vitamins

Take a look at your medicine closet and clear out drugs that have expired, medicine that has sat on your shelf for too long, or ones that you no longer use. First, check to see what the proper disposal methods are for the medication, and if you can't find any, check to see if your community has a drug take-back program. If there isn't a program near you, then the FDA advises mixing medicine with "used coffee grounds or kitty litter" in a container or sealable bag before throwing it away to make the drugs less appealing.

6. Makeup and perfume

Go through your beauty cabinet and get rid of makeup that's too old or that you don't use. There are programs out there that let you recycle your makeup, such as MAC, which has a program that lets you exchange six empty containers for a new eyeshadow, lip gloss, or lipstick. Kiehl's also has a program that gives you products in exchange for Kiehl's containers. POPSUGAR Beauty has a neat list of when to throw away cosmetics.

7. Jewelry

Go through your jewelry and dispose of the broken costume jewelry and make plans to sell ones that you don't wear. For fine jewelry, look up appraisers from the National Association of Jewelry Appraisers. Once you have a quoted price, shop around at auction houses, estate buyers, pawnshops, and jewelers to see if you can find a better deal.

8. Food

Go through your pantry and fridge and clear out items that need to be thrown out - the old, unused, and rotting. Do this weekly instead of monthly, just to make sure you don't have any unpleasant surprises!

9. Some memorabilia

Many organizing experts advise to be ruthless and throw away memorabilia like cards and gifts you don't use. I agree, but I think you can keep some of them by perhaps creating some sort of poster with old cards or designating a small shoe box for memorabilia. Resolve to throw away anything that can't fit into the box.

10. Notebooks

I don't know about you, but I have a ton of notebooks lying around. Take a look at them and throw out the ones that you no longer need. My notebooks are filled with notes from classes I take and notes from meetings.

11. Old or unused electronics

Have an electric piano you don't use? Or maybe you just never got around to getting rid of your old laptop or cell phone. Sell your electronics on Gazelle.com and Nextworth.com. These sites are great because they'll quote you a price for the item you wish to sell. You can also sell it on sites such as Craigslist and eBay.

3 Things Moving in Middle School Taught Me About Being Unbreakable

I grew up in a one-traffic-light town in rural New Hampshire. Almost everyone in my family was born there, came back there to raise their families, or had never left at all. My childhood consisted of building tree and rock forts in the Summer, ice skating on frozen ponds in the Winter, and apple picking in the Fall. It was idyllic.

When I was almost 9 years old, my parents told my sister and I that we were moving to San Francisco.

The concept of the move was thrilling for me, but the reality wasn't as simple. The thing everybody learns at some point in their life is that reinvention is the most essential tool to survival. What made me unbreakable during this tough time was preserving my identity in an world so foreign to my previous experience.

Looking back, now 20 years since the move, the following three lessons stick out in my mind:

1. Putting Yourself Out There Is Essential

Being the new girl in a small middle school, luckily for me, turned out to be awesome. In fourth grade, everyone is nice to one another and I was welcomed with open arms. It seemed like everyone wanted to have the new girl be their friend. I learned to lean into the attention. It encouraged me to be outgoing, outspoken, and gregarious. Being so welcomed and accepted immediately, when I expected just the opposite, groomed me to be confident when entering new environments as a young adult.

2. Remember to Stay True to Yourself Above All Else

When I first moved to California, I looked different than the rest of the kids. Every day I wore denim overall shorts, a white t-shirt underneath, a checkered flannel wrapped around my waist, Birkenstock sandals, and a backwards hat. I thought I was Alex Mack. This was how I dressed and I wasn't about to change it - it never even dawned on me. That is, until one day someone teased me about the hat. Afterwards, I went months without wearing hats to school and saved them for the weekend. I remember my mom being concerned and asking me repeatedly, "Cait, you've always been a hat person, why aren't you wearing them anymore?" to which I assured her I was just over them. They weren't cool, Mom, geez. The truth is, I wanted to fit in physically as much as socially. Now, I love getting dressed and honestly couldn't care less about what people think. Plus, things I was inherently drawn to as a child are coming back - Birkenstocks, anyone?

3. Remember Where You Came From

In New Hampshire, most people I knew had yards that merged into extensive forests. When the weather was warm, we would go to the local lake or pond or head to the community pool. In California, the backyards had their own private pools and the kids had gazebos they used as clubhouses. Everyone I met in California seemed a little bit more experienced. They all seemed to know some secret, to understand a truth about the world I hadn't yet learned. I felt naive, like an outsider. Now, 20 years older, what used to feel like something to be embarrassed about is something I am most proud of. The things that made me different are what made me and my childhood so unique. I wouldn't change my years in New Hampshire for anything nor would I take back the move to California. Life is a series of subtle and sometimes sudden changes. Being able to adapt to a new reality is important, but it is more important to value where you came from.

6 Details We Have About Peaky Blinders Season 3

When I say Peaky Blinders, there's a good chance you either have no idea what I'm talking about or you've begun salivating. That's because the British series is one of the best shows on TV, and if you've watched the first two seasons on Netflix, you're probably as obsessed as I am. In fact, it's one of my recommendations if you're still missing Sons of Anarchy. A dreamy-eyed Cillian Murphy plays Tommy Shelby, the leader of a street gang in post-WWI England.
