This Keyboard App From Google Will Change the Way You Use Your iPhone

It's time to meet the next app that's going to change your life and make you wonder how you lived without it. Meet Gboard, a keyboard app from Google that lets you search for GIFs within a text message, swipe to text, and so much more.

The app, available for iOS, integrates into your iPhone as a regular keyboard. To use it, tap the globe icon and switch to the Gboard. The capabilities of what you can do with it are endless. Trying to tell a friend to meet you at a restaurant? Search for it in your text message and send them the address. Or, find the perfect GIF that shows off how you feel and send it away - all without leaving Messages. The best part about this app is the ability to swipe to text - something insanely useful when you only have one hand free.

We had a chance to play around with it and were very impressed. The predictive text function works much better than the one on iOS. For example, if you type in a company name, like Amazon, the keyboard will ask you if you wanted to search for it. Typing in something like "Want to have dinner tonight" will prompt the keyboard to ask if you want to search for restaurants around you. Trust us when we say this is one app that will become as common on iPhones as Instagram and Snapchat are.

Jimmy Fallon and The Lonely Island Singing "I'm on a Boat" With Classroom Instruments Is Almost Better Than the Original

After The Lonely Island stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Monday night to promote their new movie, Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping, the talk-show host got them to sing one of their most well-known hits using only classroom instruments. Like Meghan Trainor before them, Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer, and Jorma Taccone got creative with Fallon and The Roots as they sang "I'm on a Boat" while hilariously backed by kazoos, a rubber duck, and some flippy-floppies. Here's the Full Rundown of How Castle Came to a Close

After eight seasons, the hit crime show Castle came to a close on Monday night. While there were rumors of a big death on the finale due to Stana Katic's plans to leave the show, they secretly filmed two possible endings just in case of a cancellation. If you missed out, here's the full rundown on how Beckett and Castle's epic love story ended in the series finale. Spoilers ahead!

The story starts out like any other on the show, with a murder, a mystery, and Castle and Beckett working together to solve it. However, things take a turn for the worse when the two are duped into a trap and Castle is kidnapped by a man he assumes is his ally. As Castle is on the brink of death, the NYPD swoops in to save the day, but Beckett is already with Mason Wood (aka the bad guy). After Castle climbs through walls to save her (literally), the three end up having a face off.

All seems to end well as the next scene shows Castle and Beckett safely in their home, when out of nowhere Castle gets shot in the kitchen. After Beckett kills the armed man, she collapses beside Castle having been shot herself. As the star-crossed lovers lie on the ground holding each other's hands, the camera pans and their iconic conversation from the end of the pilot episode, when Castle asks Beckett on a date and she declines, plays in the background.

It seems like this may actually be the end of Caskett until the text "7 years later" pops up on the screen. The fast-forward is cheesy and feels a little rushed, but ultimately, they're happy with a bunch of little kids running around their apartment. In the last line of the entire series, another iconic line plays in the background, but this time it's Castle's from season two. "Every writer needs inspiration. And I've found mine. Always."

If you're a Grey's Anatomy fan, there's probably not much you don't know about the show. But as the end of season 12 draws near, we thought we'd put together some of the lesser-known facts about the medical drama. The Major Easter Egg You Might Have Missed on Once Upon a Time's Season 5 Finale

It's no exaggeration that Captain Hook and Emma have been through hell this season on Once Upon a Time. Aside from becoming the Dark Ones, the two literally traveled to the depths of the Underworld to keep their love alive. Thankfully, on the season five finale, there is a little light at the end of the dark tunnel as the show gives a small clue about the couple's fate next season.

After the heroes finally make it back to Storybrooke, Emma strays away from the pack to share a special moment with Hook. Not only does she say she loves him, but the pair also share a passionate kiss in front of - get this - a wedding gown display. Hold up, is Captain Swan getting married? While there wasn't an actual proposal during the scene, the writers are notorious for dropping little Easter eggs every now and then. Honestly, a fairy-tale wedding makes a lot of sense for the lovebirds. Not only are the two a fan-favorite couple, but there have been rumors brewing about a possible engagement for a while now.

Giving Up Dairy Changed My Body in So Many Surprising Ways

In my 20s, I was a french-fry, soy-ice-cream, pasta-and-bread-loving vegan. I ended up gaining 40 pounds and - surprise, surprise - always felt tired, foggy-headed, and on the brink of another cold. After six years, I started eating eggs and dairy, and I felt a little better, but that's probably because I was finally eating healthier, in an attempt to lose all the weight I'd gained.

Fast-forward 12 years to the Summer of 2014. I was sitting on my couch, flipping through Netflix, and stumbled upon the documentary Vegucated. It takes the stance that being vegan is better for the planet and kinder to animals, and after seeing some heartbreaking video footage, I felt compelled to eat more compassionately and ditch dairy on the spot. I had no idea how dramatically my life was about to improve. Here's what I noticed within two months of going dairy-free.

Wait, Are These My Skinny Jeans?

Getting dressed one chilly September morning, I grabbed a pair of my favorite skinny jeans and they slipped right on! Since I tend to gain a little weight in the Summer, I was expecting to have to wrestle with them for a bit, but they didn't feel tight whatsoever. I even slipped them off to check the label to make sure they were the right pair. Yeah, you bet I was smiling and feeling pretty awesome. Since having two kids, I'd been carrying around a few extra pounds that were holding on for dear life (really, my youngest is now 2!), and ditching dairy made it happen in two months without any other change.

Bye-Bye Bloat

Know what the number one reason was for my Costco membership? Lactaid pills. Yep, I popped one every time I ate because even the tiniest drop of butter in a cracker could set me off. I wasn't always lactose intolerant, but it hit me hard when I went away to college, which was one of the reasons I went vegan back then. I couldn't leave my house without some trusty pills in my pocket, and I popped at least five a day. My body was telling me not to eat dairy and here I was devouring it every chance I got. And boy, did I pay the price. My belly was constantly bloated and I had more than my fair share of emergency bathroom runs. It seems obvious to anyone that you should stop eating the one thing that makes you feel horrible, but I guess I didn't realize just how bad I was feeling until I started feeling amazing.

What's That Amazing Smell?

Sinus surgery. That was the recommendation after years of chronic and painful sinus infections, extensive allergy testing, two CT scans, daily nasal sprays and antihistamines, twice-daily dates with my Neti Pot, months of heavy-duty antibiotics, and heartbreakingly having to find a new home for my two cats. The ear, nose, and throat specialist said it was one of the worst cases he'd seen, and said surgery to remove the congestion and widen my sinuses should be the next step. Talk about scared. There had to be another solution.

I'd heard that dairy can contribute to congestion but considered not being able to breathe or smell a fair trade for cheese. It's been two months of being dairy free, and now that Fall is in full swing, I should be miserable with allergy stuffiness and sinus pressure. But I'm not. My doctor can't believe I haven't needed to refill my meds. I even went apple picking and could actually smell the cider donuts cooking (not that I could eat one!). I teared up. I had a moment right there in the apple orchard. And to think, I almost went through with surgery, when all I needed to do was say no to cheese.

Did You Change Moisturizers?

Seriously, someone asked me this, and I was thrilled. My skin has never been clearer. I didn't have a bad acne problem, but a pimple always seemed to be cropping up, which was pretty embarrassing for someone in their late 30s. My skin is smoother, softer, and has more of a natural glow. It makes sense, since cow's milk contains growth hormone, fats, and sugars (yes, organic milk, too), which can aggravate the skin. There's definitely some strong data showing the correlation between dairy and acne, and although it can take up to six months for skin to heal, I noticed a difference within a month.

Smoothies, Salads, and Sweet Potatoes

Like most people, I tried to eat healthy, but when you're in a rush or tired from a long day, you grab the quickest thing. As a vegetarian, cheese was like its own food group to me, and admittedly, cheesy pesto paninis, creamy pasta, and pizza were always on the menu. I had to completely rethink my meals and found that with a little bit of prep, I was eating so much healthier. I made green smoothies for breakfast, salads for lunch, and got really creative with using tempeh, tofu, lentils, beans, whole grains, and all sorts of veggies. Ditching dairy meant that I made room for foods that were much more nutrient-packed, and I no longer felt heavy after meals.

Another Three Miles? Sure!

Eating healthier also meant I had more energy. Whether it was going for a run, bike ride, hike, or teaching a yoga class, I felt so peppy and fired up. I had more days in the past two months where I felt like I could keep going and going than I ever had when I was eating dairy. Maybe this is the reason so many athletes go vegan.

Final Thoughts

I know what you're thinking. "I could never live without __________." So don't. If you want to avoid dairy but you could never give up pizza, then give up dairy except for pizza. I will say that for most of your favorite foods there are some pretty outstanding alternatives. My kitchen is constantly stocked with soy milk, soy yogurt, Earth Balance buttery spread, and my fave - almond milk ice cream. Personally, I wasn't a fan of vegan cheeses so I just leave it off my pizza or sandwiches, or make my own using raw cashews. Please don't mourn for the cookies and pancakes you can't eat. There are so many dairy-free recipes that taste as awesome as ones containing milk and butter. Once you get used to cooking and eating in this new way, it'll feel just as easy as your diet feels now. If you can't go cold turkey, do what you can and gradually take milk out of your diet. If your experience is anything like mine, the benefits will speak for themselves, and you'll be inspired to eliminate dairy completely.

Get Ready to Bare Arms With These Exercises

Plenty of folks gripe about picking up dumbbells, but there's no need to fear free weights. A few pointers: It isn't necessary to overload on heavy weights right away; start with a pair that feels comfortable for your needs and tires you out in about eight to 10 reps. The last thing you want is improper form that can affect your body's mobility, or worse, lead to injury. Before you start pumping, make sure you know how to use dumbbells correctly. Now you're ready to try these simple exercises that will have you feeling like a pro in no time.

Deadlift With Front Row

Work your shoulders and your backside with this double-duty combination move that's easy to follow.

  • Stand upright holding your dumbbells in each hand, arms at your sides, with your knees slightly bent.
  • Keeping your arms straight and knees slightly bent, slowly hinge forward, bending at your hips (not your waist), lowering the weights as far as possible without rounding your back, which should remain straight.
  • Squeeze your glutes to return to standing, keeping your back straight. Once you're standing, pull the weights up the front of your body, bringing them to your chin with elbows going wide. Lower the weights to complete one rep.
  • Do 15 reps.

Use five- to 10-pound dumbbells.

Squat, Curl, and Press

Moving from a squat to an overhead press gets the heart rate going while working your butt and legs.

  • Stand with your feet directly under your hips, holding a dumbbell in each hand. Sit back into your squat, keeping the weight in your heels, bringing your thighs parallel to the floor without letting your knees go beyond your toes.
  • Push through your heels to return to standing while bringing the weights to your shoulders, performing a bicep curl.
  • Stabilize your torso and keep your arms moving upward, performing an overhead press with the palms facing out.
  • Lower your arms back to your side to complete one rep.
  • Do 10 reps to complete a set.

Use eight- to 10-pound dumbbells.

Bent-Over Row

This beginner-friendly move ups the weight and makes for shapely shoulders and a powerful back.

  • Lean forward and bend both knees, remembering to keep a flat back.
  • Extend your arms so they are straight. Lift the dumbbells straight up to chest level, squeezing your shoulder blades together as you do. Be sure to keep your elbows in and pointed upward. Don't arch your back.
  • Slowly lower the weights back to the starting position to complete one rep.
  • Do 10 reps to complete a set.

Use 10- to 15-pound dumbbells.

Skull Crusher

Hit the ground to tone up those triceps! Try this simple lying triceps extension, and feel the burn in the backs of your arms.

  • Grab a set of dumbbells, and start by lying on your back.
  • With one dumbbell in each hand, raise your arms so they are above your chest, making sure your elbows are straight but not locked.
  • Slowly lower both arms toward your head, bending your elbows to 90 degrees as the dumbbells reach the mat. Aim to lower your dumbbells so they are on either side of your head, elbows bent and pressing in toward your head.
  • Lift arms back up to starting position. This is one rep.
  • Do 10 reps to complete a set.

Use five- to eight-pound dumbbells.

The One Thing I Constantly Do as an Organic Gardener

Caterpillars and aphids are two common leaf-eating pests that can munch away at your greens before you have a chance to harvest them, and as an organic gardener, they are the two things I search for and destroy immediately. Luckily, there are a few ways to control them (vegans, close your eyes!). Here's where you start: carefully scan the front and back of your leafy greens as well as the center of the plant stems for any pests.

Caterpillars

An indicator of caterpillars is, of course, giant holes found in the center or exterior part of the leaves. You should also check the center of the plant stem for caterpillar eggs, which sort of look like rehydrated chia seeds. Eggs should be sprayed off using a hose, and as for the caterpillars, I feed them as well as the holey leaves to my chickens (FYI, chickens are natural omnivores). If you don't have access to chickens (as much as I hate to say it), simply stomp on the caterpillars.

Aphids

Aphids usually appear on the back side of leafy greens, but they can sometimes appear on the base of the plant. The eggs aren't gelatinous but rather are hard, black, and practically glued onto the leaves. The aphids themselves look tiny and green. I usually pick of the affected leaves and feed them to my chickens (seriously, chickens love your garden's pests!). Otherwise, simply pick and discard the affected leaves, then rub some crushed oyster shell on the remaining plant leaves and the center of the stem. To aphids, it's like walking across broken glass, and they will avoid those leaves at all cost.

Sorry if this made you squeamish, but controlling pests like these is how you can end up with beautiful, lush leafy greens (like the organic spinach from my garden pictured above). Trust me - it's worth it.

It's only been a month since the challenge surfaced on the internet, so you can expect to keep seeing it for a few more weeks before it dies down. Millennial Burnout Is a Real Thing - How to Prevent It

Not to brag, but I keep pretty impressive company. Some of my closest friends include a self-sufficient single woman on track to be chief learning officer at her company who ran 30 marathons and became a homeowner before turning 30; a self-motivated overachiever who is breaking barriers in the tech industry advocating for diversity and women's inclusion with some of the most powerful figures in Silicon Valley by her side; and a sustainability and social responsibility guru who, at 30, is already a step away from VP at her high-profile advertising agency.

These women are kicking butts and taking names, doing work they're passionate about, and, honestly, changing the world at the same time. So why did I get this early-morning text from one of my girlfriends this week:

"This podcast on burning out made me ugly cry on my way to work this morning - where I opened my bag to realize I left my computer at home after working late (again and again)."

The episode she sent, from Real Simple's Adulthood Made Easy podcast, is titled "Why Are We Getting Burnt Out at Work?," and it addresses this Fast Company article that has since spawned a number of stories on how millennial women are burning out at their jobs by their early 30s and even late 20s. As someone who can relate (sort of, I'll get to that in bit), here's what I think the 30-something burnout boils down to.

Why Is It Happening?

  1. Unrealistic expectations we put on ourselves. Adding fuel to the fire is the prevelance of social media and all the inevitable comparisons we can't help but make to other millennial women who seem to have their sh*t together (when the truth is, nothing's as perfect as it seems).
  2. Not having the ability to really disconnect from the job. With 24/7 access to work emails, it's extremely difficult to do that whole "work-life balance" thing.
  3. Having a job you don't really love. This could be because you chose your career path based on what you thought you're "supposed" to do from a practical standpoint, or it could be because you just didn't know what you really wanted to do at 18 when you were expected to choose a college major. (And who does, really?)

So how can you keep this from happening to you? Both the podcast and the Fast Company article come to a similar conclusion that if you find your dream job, you won't get burned out because you'll love what you do. I don't necessarily think it's as simple as that, but I agree on some level - I LOVE my job so much that I've been with POPSUGAR for six years, which in millennial years is practically a lifetime. That said, do I get stressed out and, at times, have I felt close to burning out over the years? Yes, absolutely.

I'm a firm believer that you make your own destiny, and the grass might just continue to be greener at another job unless you do something about it. So before you up and change careers - which you might need to do, and that's OK! - I suggest trying these tips first.

How Can You Prevent It?

  1. Find a professional mentor, either your boss or someone else you can talk to honestly about feeling close to the burnout breaking point. Have an open conversation about what you're struggling with and work together to figure out what needs to change. Is it your position? Is it something you're doing that you'd rather not be doing? Could you do something that would make your job more fulfilling?
  2. If there's something you have to do - like travel, for instance - that's particularily draining, find a way to make it more enjoyable. Be honest with your manager that you need more realistic flight times or buffer days to recoup after a long trip.
  3. If you're feeling burnt out, focus on the one thing you really love about your job and do that for a day or a week to recharge.
  4. Make a growth plan. Do some soul searching and come up with one or two stretch goals. Then work with your manager to get there. You might feel better about all the hard work if you know you're moving forward. This could be giving a presentation to the department or taking ownership of a big project.
  5. Use your vacation days. Burnout usually goes hand-in-hand with exceptionally busy times, so taking time off when things get crazy can seem counterintuitive. But giving 150 percent for long stretches of time can zap your energy, wear down your patience, and kill your creativity. Find a day, a long weekend, or a whole week - whatever's doable for you - to get away and refill your reserves, and you'll be a happier, more productive person when you get back at it. Even if you have 2,000 unreads in your inbox.
  6. Split up meetings. Have a peer go to one and you to the other and then exchange notes so you have some uninterrupted time.
  7. Make some time to work with interns or get coffee with someone trying to break into your field. You'll get a boost from sharing your wisdom and also realize how much you've learned (and appreciate how far you've come).
  8. Find ways to create autonomy at work. Maybe it's pitching a project you really have ownership of or having a frank conversation with your boss about micromanaging and creative freedom. If you know you have control over all the hard work you put in, you'll feel better about it.
  9. Be realistic. As I mentioned, unrealistic expectations are at least partly to blame for the burnout many millennial women experience, so take a step back and look at the expectations you place on yourself at work. Are you building a daily to-do list that's a mile long and filled with things no human can accomplish in a day? Do you say yes to every project that comes up because you don't want to let your manager down? Identify the things that are pushing you to the edge, and work with your manager to scale them back or get them off your plate.
  10. Find daily time to recharge, too. If you read up on the daily routines of the happiest, most successful people, you'll find they all have this habit in common. Workouts That Give Me Everything Running Promised (but Didn't)

There's so much to love about running - in theory, at least. It's a workout that I've always romanticized in my mind: it's just you and the road - no judgment or competition - and let's not forget that runner's high that can solve anything.

Sadly, my running reality is the exact opposite. In all the miles I logged chasing a runner's high, it never arrived. NOT. ONCE. Three half-marathons under my belt and not once was I left feeling like a gazelle or empowered. Instead I felt defeated and questioned what was wrong with me, why was running always so hard. All of my friends loved running, so why didn't I? It took many miles, injuries, and trips to a sports doctor to let go of the idea that running was the benchmark of fitness success.

It took a few years for me to get here - and maybe a breakdown during one pitiful training run - but I'm finally OK telling myself that I am not a runner, and that's OK. Fitness is a personal journey - personal being key. There is no right or wrong way; there's only your way. Once I fully embraced this idea and hung up my running shoes for good, my life changed for the better. Along the way, I was also happy to find that all the things I craved from running were there waiting to be discovered, just not on the track.

The Runner's High: Dance Cardio

If you ever told me that dance would be my thing, I probably would have laughed. I've never been great with choreography, and I let fear hold me back from attending a dance class. On a brave day, I allowed my friends to drag me to Hipline for my first-ever dance-cardio class. I was nervous, inside my head, and made a beeline to the back of the room - but I am so glad I went. That first class and every class since has been one big ball of happiness. Instead of judgement and fear, I found pure, unabashed joy - and one hell of a workout. Here I am, finally experiencing the "runner's high" described to me by so many friends, except at a dance class! I find myself lost in the movement and the music and have a permanent smile on my face the entire time. While Hipline is my absolute favorite, I've found the same feeling of euphoria at other studios like Zumba, AKT, and 305 Fitness.

Intense Cardio: Indoor Cycling

Even if my heel was sometimes left throbbing, I always appreciated the type of workout I got from an intense running session. There is no denying that hill sprints, speed play, and running intervals get the heart rate up in a major way. You know what else does? Indoor cycling. Whether I'm at Spin, SoulCycle, or Flywheeel, I know I'm in for an intense workout that will having me climbing hills and maxing out - just like I did when I ran, except this time I'm enjoying the entire process from start to finish.

Buns of Steel: Rowing

Like so many others, I walked by the rowing machine in my gym without giving it a second thought. Then I took a class at CityRow and realized what a fool I'd been. Rowing is the definition of a total-body workout; it works all the muscles of your lower body (plus your core and your arms!) while keeping the heart rate up. Unlike running, it's much easier on the joints, which is exactly what my beat-up body needed.

Becoming Zen With Nature: Backpacking

One of the things I liked most about running was getting outside. Studio workouts definitely have their place, but being outside on a sunny day can't be beat, especially when a run ended up somewhere beautful like a coastal trail. I've always been big into hiking, but in the last couple of years, I've been doing a lot of backpacking. Being out in the middle of nowhere for days on end may sound terrifying, but it's led to some of the most beautiful backdrops I've ever experienced. From a black sand beach in Hawaii only accessible to backpackers to the ever-changing scenery of the John Muir Trail, backcountry hiking has given me a glimpse of nature I would have never been able to experience otherwise.

Major Stress Relief: Yoga

Sadly, running only added more stress to my life, which is why I am so grateful for yoga. I was slow to come around to it, but now I can't imagine a week without taking a couple of classes. I had to find the style that worked for me, the right teachers, and a studio I loved, but once that happened, it all came into place. My regular 90-minute classes allow me to truly unwind and let go of any stress I may be feeling. It used to be hard to turn off my mind, and now I look forward to that meditative state it provides me with.

That moment you felt so discouraged you were on the brink of giving up entirely? We've all been there. But one professor proved that you're not defined by your failures - in fact, they're the building blocks to success. Johannes Haushofer is an assistant professor of psychology and public affairs at Princeton University, and his "CV of Failures" will remind you that nobody gets to where they are without meeting some roadblocks along the way.

In his 17 years of academia, Johannes has had quite a few notable accomplishments. Receiving his bachelor's degree in psychology at Oxford University, a Ph.D in neurobiology from Harvard, both a Prize Fellowship in Economics and a Presidential Scholarship from Harvard, and the Gibbs Prize (aka the best thesis) at Oxford are just a few things among his more-than-impressive résumé.

Inspired by an article written by Melanie I. Stefan, a lecturer at the University of Edinburgh, Johannes compiled a résumé that listed all the setbacks in his career including the degree programs he was rejected from, positions he didn't get, awards he didn't receive, and more. The premise of Melanie's original idea was to embrace your unsuccesses and move forward rather than dwelling on them. Similarly, Johannes wanted to highlight what he didn't accomplish in his career to show that it was no easy feat.

"Most of what I try fails, but these failures are often invisible, while the successes are visible. I have noticed that this sometimes gives others the impression that most things work out for me," he wrote in the introduction of his CV.

He continues to explain how everyone has bad days and that not everything is within our control - we shouldn't be so hard on ourselves and take our failures personally. And students, colleagues, and strangers alike have taken to his encouraging words.

His résumé inspired others to share their own stories and offer their own words of inspiration for those feeling discouraged.

San Jose Sharks' Ice-Rink Kitty Finds Loving Home

On April 29, a skittish black cat somehow managed to make her way onto the ice at a San Jose Sharks game in San Jose, CA. She was eventually captured and brought to Humane Society Silicon Valley, where volunteers cleaned her up, named her Jo Paw-velski (after Sharks player Joe Pavelski, of course), and found her a forever home, according to San Jose Mercury News. In the year since Sheryl Sandberg's husband, Dave Goldberg, died abruptly, the Facebook chief operating officer has shared small snippets of grieving and moving on. Sandberg shared some more in her commencement speech to UC Berkeley, where she spoke about her husband's death in public for the first time and shared key lessons on resilience and moving forward. Life is about how you overcome adversity: "After spending decades studying how people deal with setbacks, psychologist Martin Seligman found that there are three P's - personalization, pervasiveness, and permanence - that are critical to how we bounce back from hardship. The seeds of resilience are planted in the way we process the negative events in our lives."
  2. Distracting yourself from a difficult time is sometimes the best you can do: "But then I got drawn into the discussion and for a second - a brief split second - I forgot about death. That brief second helped me see that there were other things in my life that were not awful. My children and I were healthy. My friends and family were so loving and they carried us - quite literally at times."
  3. Accept your feelings - no matter what they are: "We feel anxious - and then we feel anxious that we're anxious. We feel sad - and then we feel sad that we're sad. Instead, we should accept our feelings - but recognize that they will not last forever."

8 Things You Can Do to Chill the F*ck Out

The world is a big, messy, disorderly, scary, demanding place to live - it's no wonder, really, that 26 percent of Americans polled by NPR said they were living with high stress levels in 2014. And if we're being honest here, most of us aren't too good at channeling these tensions into healthy, productive habits . . . which is exactly why stress has that snowball effect, in which it just keeps escalating.

I, too, am an anxious, stressed-out kind of person. Even when things in my life are going well - which is more often than not - my mind finds something to freak out about. Lately, I've been engaging in activities that relieve much of the pressure, and let me tell you, they work. Even if you don't emerge feeling totally relaxed and worry-free, I guarantee that a least a LITTLE stress will have been taken off your plate. Thus, here are 8 things you can do to chill the f*ck out, because we could ALL calm down a bit.

1. Listen to relaxing music while reading a book.

I love reading because it's an amazing escape, but listening to zen music while reading makes for an even better experience. Obviously, it might be a little weird to bury your nose in a Stephen King novel while a breathy pan flute sounds in your headphones, but I promise it works if you're reading romance, YA, poetry, or a lighthearted memoir. My favorite Pandora stations to listen to are Nature Sounds With Music, Piano Magic, Franz Schubert, and Symphonic (yep, I find classical music meditative). You can customize your station to fit what you like to listen to - or what flows best with your book!

2. Color.

If you haven't hopped on the adult coloring book trend yet, you simply must. Coloring takes you back to childhood and proves to be completely therapeutic. I prefer the real-life books, but there are apps for it, too. If you find it a little boring or tedious, try listening to an audiobook while coloring the pages away. Productive and soothing. Plus, you'll want to show off all your pretty pictures when you're done . . . just like when you were a kid.

3. Work out.

It may be cliché, but there's no denying the endless benefits of exercise - relief from stress included. There's nothing like taking out your frustrations, concerns, fears, and doubts on the treadmill. If you're not into the gym, try POPSUGAR's home workouts. They'll take you out of your element and force you to focus on your body rather than whatever you're worried about.

4. Use YouTube to meditate.

When life's rough and I'm feeling overwhelmed, I close my eyes and listen to these guys telling me to float on the clouds, belly-down, and watch the earth from above. It sounds silly, but if you take it seriously, the rewards are basically boundless. I don't claim to be a meditation guru, but it's pretty easy to pull up a video on your phone and imagine whatever the narrator is outlining. You can even learn techniques to meditate literally whenever you need to. Give it a shot! You may surprise yourself.

5. Keep a journal.

On my nightstand is a small blue notebook, in which my short descriptions of the days dwell. Take five minutes a night to jot down your thoughts, feelings, anxieties, or simply how your week's going so far. If that's too much of a commitment, try every other night. You can even keep it around specifically for those difficult moments. There's no right or wrong way to maintain a journal - as long as you're using it when needed.

6. Watch a comedy special.

A good laugh is the quickest way to de-stress. It's so easy to forget why you were upset about that thing that happened at work when Amy Schumer's ranting about her latest wine-infused catastrophe on the screen in front of you. Next time you want to pull out your hair, immerse yourself in the world of stand-up comedy. It's kind of impossible to regret it.

7. Take a bubble bath.

Need to unwind after the craziest Tuesday in the history of Tuesdays? Jump in a hot bath. You can even incorporate any of the above activities into your bathtime, so you're getting double the relaxation. Be sure to add aromatic essential oils to the water to get the full effect. And, yes, you may sip red wine as you bathe.

8. Nap.

Worst comes to worst, take a damn nap. When I was in college, and a humongous stack of homework taunted me from my desk across the dorm room, I napped for a couple hours, woke up, and got that sh*t done. Who can argue with that?

1 Woman Followed a Faulty GPS Route Only to End Up Submerged in a Lake

We often rely on our GPS to take us to destinations near and far but hardly ever to take our vehicle straight into a lake. But that is exactly what happened to one woman from Ontario, Canada, on May 12, when she followed inaccurate directions from her GPS. The driver (who wishes to remain unidentified) was following a route on a foggy night when her GPS tracker led her down a boat ramp and into the Georgian Bay.

Thankfully, the woman was able to roll down her window and swim out of her sinking car to safety, while her vehicle sank and ended up completely submerged at the bottom of the bay, reports the Toronto Sun. We are happy to hear that the driver is safe and in good spirits following her freak accident, but her unfortunate experience is a scary reminder that while technology can make life more convenient, it can also cause unwanted (and scary!) problems. This 24-Hour Hello Kitty Cafe Is the Perfect Excuse to Travel to Singapore

Is visiting every Hello Kitty cafe on your bucket list? Get ready to add another one to that list. A new 24-hour Hello Kitty cafe is set to open in Singapore's Changi airport.

The cafe, called Hello Kitty Orchid Garden, is located in the arrival hall of Terminal 3 and opens May 12. It joins the other numerous Hello Kitty cafes and restaurants around the world. The theme for this place is an "orchid garden," a nod to Singapore's national flower. Here, you'll get to consume pastries, indulge in cakes, do a teatime, and eat several types of dishes in the shape of everyone's favorite cat. Of course, you can also buy Hello Kitty merchandise, some of which will be Singapore-exclusive.

That Abandoned Wizard of Oz Theme Park? I've Stayed There

Land of Oz was a Wizard of Oz-inspired theme park in Beech Mountain, NC, opened in the 1970s by imaginative entrepreneur Grover Robbins. Unfortunately, Robbins's death from cancer just weeks before the park's opening was, in a way, a dismal sign of things to come. While Robbins had been previously successful with Tweetsie Railroad - a Wild West theme park that is still fully operational today - Land of Oz seemed fated to fail. The park was simply too expansive to maintain, both physically and financially. A mysterious fire destroyed much of Emerald City, including an archival museum that housed many of the dresses Judy Garland wore as Dorothy in the film. After just a decade of tumultuous existence, Land of Oz closed.

When I read that people can now tour Land of Oz or rent it out for private parties, I immediately laughed, because not only have I visited Land of Oz - I've stayed there.

In the early '90s, Land of Oz was partially reopened, this time not as a theme park but as a development complex with various cabins that could be rented out. As a Miami native, I had very rarely experienced the type of wintry vacation that is oftentimes synonymous with the holidays. True to the Wizard of Oz narrative, my family of six tornadoed out of Miami and toward the promise of a quaint skiing vacation; we had rented a picturesque cabin at the abandoned Land of Oz. What could go wrong?

When we got to the cabin, there was a deer just frolicking in the front yard, and I remember being so amazed and excited about seeing an animal that wasn't one of the parrot variety or some tropical inhabitant. But once we walked through the front door, I guess you could say I had my reservations. It was old and creaky in a way that was almost comically creepy. The furniture definitely had that antique thing going for it, and there was a painting of a stoic, haunting woman on the wall. We inexplicably named her Rebecca, I guess to just make light of it all.

My older sisters elected to sleep together in the least scary room, while my parents stayed in the master bedroom upstairs that had the most beautiful skylight. Meanwhile, I got to stay in "Dorothy's room," complete with a pair of ruby slippers. I slept on the bottom level of a bunk bed, which just altogether made me feel uneasy about who might be sleeping on the top bunk. Dorothy, is that you? At least the room had all these old-timey dolls to keep me company.

Then things got weird. We all started noticing these quirks that we, well, didn't appreciate. At midnight every night, a little tune - "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" - would float down the hallway from an old cuckoo clock. Except it was so old that the song sounded distorted and unbelievably eerie; it was like "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" on Xanax. One evening, a surly, inebriated older man appeared at our door. His drunken and incessant knocking on the front door woke up my dad, who then just casually waited for him to leave.

At one point, one of my sisters and I decided to take a stroll down the park's old yellow brick road. We thought to ourselves, "Wow, how cute is this?" We were, simply put, lying to ourselves. A few minutes into it, we both realized how incredibly unsettling it was to be walking down this path lined with charred trees and deteriorating giant lollipops and colorful mushrooms - remnants of what was once, I'm sure, a very vibrant re-creation of the film's "Munchkin Land."

Toward the close of our trip, my sisters decided to take a look at what was in the basement, the uncharted territory of the cabin that still gives me the creeps over a decade later. The owners of the old park had long ago decided to mysteriously store many of the park's old rides and decorations in the basement of the very cabin that was being rented out to my unassuming family. There it all was: an animatronic Wicked Witch of the West, carts belonging to amusement rides, a winding yellow ramp that led somewhere else underground. And no, we did not care to find out where that might have been. Needless to say, I was clicking my heels together and muttering, "There's no place like home" more convincingly than ol' Judy Garland herself. Our return to Miami couldn't have come any sooner - although we left with quite the tale.

When I texted my sisters for this piece to ask them about our time there, one simply replied, "That place was terrifying."

If you've ever experienced body shaming while shopping for clothes, know that you're not alone. In Amy Schumer's latest comedy sketch "Size 12," the comedian highlights the struggle of plus-size shoppers trying to find something in their size. When Amy holds up a black t-shirt and asks the salesperson, "Do you have this in a size 12?" The woman immediately becomes uncomfortable and asks, "Do you mean a UK 12, which is a US 8 or a Japanese 12, which is a American toddler 3?"

The scene continues as the salesperson tells Amy there is a "whole section for your situation" and brings her to an open field. Amy sees Lena Dunham, who is wearing a bulky rain jacket, hanging out with a cow. "She's shopping, it's her daughter's bat mitzvah," says Lena about the cow.

Though the entire sketch is hilariously over the top, the message Amy sends to viewers is impactful. A simple act like shopping for women who don't fit into that size 0 or even size 10 category can be devastating. And, when it comes down to it, brands should cater to all sizes and shapes while a salesperson should make customers feel comfortable and welcomed, regardless of their weight or physical appearance. Drop my phone, crack my phone, repeat. No matter what type of case I have on my iPhone 6, the outcome is still the same thanks to these clumsy hands God has #blessed me with. So when iCracked reached out about its on-demand screen repair service and I found myself with yet another busted screen, I decided to give it a try. The company that's been called a mix of Uber and AAA currently serves 600 cities (and 5,000 customers) across the US. It's not the only company of its kind, but it's one of the fastest growing.

The story of iCracked started in 2010 when CEO A.J. Forsythe started the service out of his dorm room at Cal Poly in California. The privacy is another bonus if you're one of the celebrities like Ashton Kutcher who uses iCracked.

The company also offers a plan where you pay $7 a month and only $25 for each subsequent repair. If you want to try to repair your phone yourself, you can also buy one of its DIY kits that contains the necessary tools, parts, and instructions.
