Who Exactly Is Euron Greyjoy? Here's What to Know About Game of Thrones' New Villain
We're getting to meet a ton of new characters on Game of Thrones this season, but Euron Greyjoy (Pilou Asbaek) might be the most sinister. He makes his first appearance on the second episode of the season, and what does he do within minutes of being on screen? MAJOR spoiler alert: he murders Balon Greyjoy like it's no big deal. Since then, he's taken the Iron Islands from Yara and vowed to murder her and Theon. Here are the basics of what you need to know about him.
- He is one of the middle Greyjoy brothers. Euron is older than Victarion and Aeron Greyjoy but younger than Balon, the now-deceased King. This makes him Yara and Theon's uncle.
- His nickname is Crow's Eye. In the books, Euron wears a patch over one of his eyes, though he does have an eye under there. According to Theon in The Winds of Winter, it's "a black eye shining with malice."
- In the books, he's banished from the Iron Islands. In George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series, Balon bans Euron from the Iron Islands for raping the wife of Victarion, the Lord Captain of the Iron Fleet.
- He's basically a pirate. He and Balon briefly chat about this on the show, but Euron is the Game of Thrones version of a pirate. He's been sailing around on his ship, apparently going somewhat mad and cutting out the tongues of his crew. In the books, he rapes and pillages towns, and it sounds like the show is following the character laid out by ASOIAF pretty closely; Euron mentions to his brother that when people see his ship coming, they start praying.
- He has been mentioned before. Way back on the first season, Tyrion mentions Theon's uncles having fought in the Raid on Lannisport, one of the first battles of the Greyjoy Rebellion. He hasn't been mentioned since, and obviously we haven't met him until this season.
That's all we know for now, but we certainly haven't seen the last of Euron. Let's hope Yara and Theon can take him down before he gets to Daenerys!

Is Sansa Pregnant? This Theory Makes a Heck of a Lot of Sense
The latest episode of Game of Thrones is so eventful that we wouldn't blame you for missing a very important line of dialogue. While Sansa is telling off Littlefinger, she describes to him exactly what she suffered at the hands of Ramsay Bolton. "I can still feel it. I don't mean 'in my tender heart it still pains me so' - I can still feel what he did in my body standing here right now." Yes, of course she could be referring to the fact that Ramsay brutally rapes her, but could the line imply something else? Ramsay had been aiming to produce an heir with Sansa; is it possible that he succeeded in impregnating her?
It's not the first time this rumor has surfaced; back in February, the internet freaked out when an official picture of Sansa from the new season made it look like the character could be pregnant. It could definitely be the way her cloak is draped . . . or it could be that she's pregnant with little Ramsay. If that's true, heaven help us all.

Why the Internet Is Collectively Rallying Behind This Couple Trying to Get Pregnant
"Do you have a minute? I've got kind of a long story."
That's how Dan Majesky starts off a Facebook post that is 3,336 words long. A long story is an understatement, but once you get started, you won't be able to stop reading every last one of those words.
The Cincinatti man shared a refreshingly honest account of what he and his wife, Leah, have endured on their journey to become parents. All told from his perspective, at times blissfully sarcastic and at others painfully tragic, it's one not often heard in the realm of personal infertility essays.
Dan chronicles from start to (spoiler alert) finish the lengths he and Leah reached to become pregnant.
We're in our 30s. Things are probably a little bit dusty, and a little bit rusty. So, three years ago, we started using apps and calendars to track this and that. Ovulation test sticks. Old wives' tales of positions and timing. We got some late periods. And some periods that never came! But we didn't get pregnant.
From there, he outlines the medical interventions and hormone therapies his wife began and what his main purpose was in all this.
My job was to try and not say anything dumb, because she also needed to be calm. I tried to avoid triggering phrases like "Hey," or "Good morning," or "I love you," but I kept fucking up, and opening my mouth, or allowing Leah to see TV programs, or commercials, to read books, and interact with the world in any way.
He even explains in vivid detail what it's like having to make sperm deposits in an office in which everyone is aware of what's really going on.
Everyone is a little bit tittery, a little bit anxious. We all know that this is all very silly, and that I just touched my penis, and you are someone's grandmother, and that even though you have a pin in the shape of a little sperm fella to help break the tension, we all – if we really had the choice – would probably prefer to burst into flames than discuss any part of this.
All the while, Dan acknowledges the pain in waiting, the defeat and sadness that comes when finding about that the "17-year-old across the street got pregnant," and the jealousy, envy, and resentment over a "child throwing a tantrum in the cereal aisle."
He opens up about their miscarriage.
When a family member dies, you can share your grief. With a miscarriage, you would have to tell people that someone who will never be born, who they had never heard of and will never meet, but who meant the world to you, is gone. And you don't have the strength to get into it. You tell your parents, maybe a close friend, maybe your boss.
As he writes on, he talks about how he cried alone every day about their unborn child and compared its now-lapsed due date to "a car accident on the road ahead that you're trying not to look at." It becomes sometimes painful - an infinitesimal fraction of the pain being described, of course - to simply keep reading. Thankfully, this story has a happy, if not cautiously optimistic, ending: after a break from treatments, the couple tried a few more times and got the "faintest f*cking line in the whole f*cking world" on a pregnancy test.
He adds that he's heard the heartbeat, arms and legs are moving, and they're expecting a baby girl in November. Then, in two words, Dan perfectly concludes what might be one of the most thorough man's account of what it's like struggling to conceive:
"We're pregnant."

Cheers to 2 Years! Look Back on Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's Lavish Italian Wedding Photos
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West tied the knot at the Forte di Belvedere in Florence, Italy, back in May 2014. To commemorate the once-in-a-lifetime event on the couple's one-year anniversary, Kim took to Instagram to share some never-before-seen snaps from the day, including new shots from the photo booth and the carriage ride at Versailles in France. Nearly two years ago, the bride wore a Givenchy Haute Couture gown and was walked down the aisle by her stepfather, Caitlyn (formerly Bruce) Jenner, while the rest of her family - including sisters Khloé and Kourtney Kardashian and Kylie and Kendall Jenner - stayed close by as she and Kanye exchanged vows. The ceremony was performed by hot Miami pastor Rich Wilkerson Jr., while longtime Kardashian family friend and celebrity event planner Sharon Sacks planned the couple's nuptials.
Family and friends officially kicked off the wedding weekend in style the week before with a special reception at the Chateau de Wideville (aka designer Valentino Garavani's Paris home), followed by a private guided tour of the famed grounds of Versailles. At the Palace of Versailles, Kim and Kanye threw a lavish prewedding dinner that brought out close friends Serena Williams, NeNe Leakes, and André Leon Talley, fashion designers Alexander Wang and Olivier Rousteing, and director Steve McQueen. Their lavish ceremony was featured in special episodes of the family's hit reality show, Keeping Up With the Kardashians. Walking down an award show carpet in a full-length gown is no easy feat, and it's a whole different beast when you throw Las Vegas heat into the equation. It's really no surprise that Ariana Grande took a stumble on the Billboard Music Awards pink carpet - it was only a matter of time before somebody had a clutzy moment! But in true Ariana style, she recovered like a total pro . . . complete with a flip of her signature ponytail.
It's not Ariana's first time taking a tumble on camera, and we're glad she caught hold of E! red carpet interviewer Sibley Scoles in time to avoid disaster. We can only hope that next time we trip, we can make it look so flawless!

10 Shockingly Normal Things You Can Spot Inside Will and Kate's Palace
When President Barack Obama and the first lady stopped by Kensington Palace on Friday, we couldn't help but get excited over the royal visit. It's rare to get a glimpse inside the palace's private living quarters - and even rarer to see Prince William and Kate Middleton in their home environment - so we were of course eager to scan the snaps of the Obamas with the royal family posted on Twitter. Once you get past how adorable Prince George looks on the rocking horse Barack gave him when he was born (that little bathrobe!), you'll notice the stylish mix of traditional and modern decor around the room. If you've always wondered how Will and Kate live or what their personal style is, then you don't want to miss the 10 surprisingly normal items we spotted inside their palace home below.
- Bottles of alcohol: The royal couple seem to be Smirnoff drinkers.
- Heavy window treatments: Traditional patterns give a nod back to the more-than-a-century-old palace's roots.
- George's stuffed animal on the ottoman: Even royal kids leave their toys everywhere.
- Acrylic side table: Will and Kate prove they're a new kind of royal family with this modern, on-trend piece.
- Lots of books (as decor): On shelves, atop side tables, this couple loves to read and decorate with books.
- Double lamps: A simple yet eye-pleasing choice.
- Family photos: A royal family has to show its epic family tree.
- An oversize floral arrangement: We love how they chose to decorate the grand piano rather than leave it bare.
- Tassels: A subtle touch that gives the couch a little something extra.
- Floral pillows: Cozy and inviting, the abundant throw pillows complement the flower arrangements throughout the room.
Although luxurious when pieced together, individually the decor items aren't so different from what we have in our own homes. Considering that the duke and duchess's address is Kensington Palace, we're surprised to see how normal their style really is!
The Most Life-Changing Lessons My Mom Gave Me
Singer, actress, fashion designer, entrepreneur, writer, and mom of two Thalia shares her parenting, lifestyle, fashion, and beauty tips as POPSUGAR Latina's contributor.
Every year, during the month of May, I become very nostalgic and full of emotion. May is a beautiful month: Summer is near, the flowers are in full bloom, and the sun shines for a longer period of time. It is also the month in which I reflect on all of the lessons I learned from my amazing, beautiful mother, and I wanted to share them with you.
1. Moms are warriors.
I get extremely emotional whenever I remember that I had the great opportunity to have a tough warrior for a mother! Yes, she fought against all odds to raise her daughters after the death of my dad when I was a child. She would stand up tall after every fall and setback and instilled in all of us the importance of self-confidence, hard work, education, preparation, and courage.
The most important thing she wanted us to learn was to be confident and trust ourselves. She wanted us to face all tough situations with strength and aplomb and made us understand that we could accomplish anything we set our minds to in any circumstance, and against anyone. And if, by any chance, what we wanted to accomplish could not be realized, she used to say: "Pack your bags, close and lock the doors of your home, and travel to a place in the world where you will flourish and you will be understood."
2. When you become a mom, you'll respect your mother even more.
Even if it sounds cliché, it is true that when you become a mother, you suddenly understand all of those things that your own mom told you. Many years had to pass in order for me to become a mother and comprehend the magnitude of what unconditional love is. Us children tend to be selfish and only look at our side of the story without putting ourselves in the place of the person with more experience, our mother.
Now that I am going through similar experiences with my children, it is easier for me to realize and remember my careless attitude and all of the uncomfortable situations I caused because of being so impatient, wanting to get my point across above all else, and expecting to do things my way thinking that my mother did not understand me. Becoming a mother has made me better understand my mom's lessons, and I strive to be more patient, loving, and delicate with my kids.
3. Mother's Day is an all-year thing!
Mothers are to be celebrated, not only during the month of May, but all year long. Our time on this planet is very short and we do not know when we will be departing or who will depart next. Therefore, I believe it is of utmost importance to celebrate, often, all of those people who we love and to be completely present while doing so. Cancel your appointments, put your telephone away, ignore all distractions, and focus on that special person who carried us in her belly until we were born.
There should not be only one specific day to be grateful; be grateful every day! A compliment, a card or letter, a flower, a conversation to reminisce about happy childhood memories, all reinforce the ties with our mother and show her how much we love her. Find time to take her out to lunch or dinner, and celebrate whenever you find a moment to do so. Oftentimes relationships between mother and children are complicated, but that is precisely why it is a good idea to try to heal the wounds and work on strengthening the bond with our moms.

4. Forgetting the past brings you closer.
In order to mend difficult relationships with our parents, in this case our mothers, I find it necessary to work out all of those issues that we carry in our hearts from childhood. There were times when we were children when we felt misunderstood, disrespected, ignored, or not supported. But I found it transformative to understand that mothers try to do our best with the tools we have and the information that we are given. That is why we have to have compassion with ourselves, with the child within us, and learn to forgive and let go of the past in order to forge healthy relationships between mother and child. There is something so liberating about letting go of the past! Move forward, and create new memories with those you love.
5. It's all about the little things in life.
My most memorable moments with my mother were when we could not stop laughing. We used to laugh so hard together that our bellies would hurt and tears would come out of our eyes. It was lovely to see my mom's smile and to hear her laugh. I cherish those moments when we read jokes to each other and watched comedies on TV or at the movies. Keeping things fun and light helped my relationship with my mother a lot.
Once I had my first child, I realized that mothers sometimes feel guilty about the choices we make when raising our kids. It does not matter how small those things are, we always find something to feel guilty about. That is why it is key to let our mothers know that we love them and make their lives more enjoyable. Enjoying the simple things in life with them will really help! Take your mother to eat ice cream, invite her to the movies, or take her out for margaritas. There are so many things we can do to spend time with our mothers and have fun and laugh together! You will never forget those wonderful happy times.
The bottom line is you should appreciate your mother. Celebrate her every day, because life is too short and unexpected. Accept her flaws and focus on the positive; the love of a mom is pure and unconditional. Find ways to spoil your mom and make her laugh. You will always remember those moments with a smile on your face.

If you have any eye shadows or blushes lying around that you no longer use, it's time to put them to good use!

You Won't Believe Who Just Bought Selena Gomez's Cursed House
Selena Gomez listed her 7,700-square-foot Calabasas, CA, mansion in 2015, just a year and a half after purchasing it. The reason? The singer was never able to feel safe in the home; a stalker showed up just days after she moved in and was arrested in her guest house several days later. A handful of 911 calls over concerns of intruders followed. Yikes!
There's finally some good news, however: rapper French Montana, aka Khloé Kardashian's ex, has just purchased the home for $3.3 million.
Selena listed this six-bedroom, seven-bathroom Mediterranean-style home in the exclusive Hidden Hills neighborhood for $4.5 million ( quite a bit more than French paid for it. The home is an entertainer's dream with an open-floor-plan main living area, eat-in kitchen, and private movie theater. The spacious backyard includes a large pool, an outdoor kitchen with a brick pizza oven, and two al fresco dining areas. We can only imagine the parties French will throw here!
The singer sold her previous home, a Tarzana, CA, compound she beautifully remodeled, to Iggy Azalea in 2014 for $3.45 million.
What's That Tune? The Songs That Ended These Memorable Series Finales
It's been two years since How I Met Your Mother ended, and we still remember how it closed up with a deliberately chosen tune that adds to its final impact. It's not the only show to end on a high note - so to speak. Remember Six Feet Under's use of "Breathe Me"? What about the final tune from Veronica Mars? In honor of finale season, here's a look at a few of our favorite signature series-ending songs.
27 Intense Feelings You Had Watching This Week's Episode of Game of Thrones
It couldn't last. After a few weeks of events on Game of Thrones that actually made us smile, the show is back to the tragedy that we know and tolerate in this week's episode. But at least with the death of beloved characters (and yet another direwolf), there are an awful lot of important events moving the series forward. Though we're still unclear what the heartbreaking turn of events this week means for Bran (and the story), it's a hell of a ride this week. Until next week, let's go over the emotional rollercoaster of this week's episode, "The Door."
How Can You Kill a White Walker on Game of Thrones?
Arguably the most important weapon on Game of Thrones right now is dragonglass, the common name for an obsidian-like mineral in Westeros. Along with Valyrian steel and fire, it makes up the holy trinity of White Walker-exterminating weapons. And it is very, very effective.
The first time we witness said effectiveness is on season three's "Second Sons," when Samwell Tarly uses it to protect Gilly's baby against a White Walker. Then on season six, Meera Reed, Bran Stark's companion – displaying the most awesome aim ever – uses a dragonglass-tipped spear to destroy a White Walker.
As the White Walker threat looms ever closer on the horizon, might we suggest stocking up on ye olde dragonglass? Yes, Valyrian steel is very fancy, and dragons – and fire – make for good PR, but dragonglass is tried and true, and much easier to come by.
Game of Thrones Just Revealed Something Huge About the White Walkers
Hold the door! We finally know the White Walker origin story. In "The Door," the fifth episode of Game of Thrones season six, we discover that the Children of the Forest – those leafy, fairy-like beings hanging out with the Three-Eyed Raven – created them!
Conventional wisdom states that the White Walkers – properly known as the Others – emerged from the far north during the Long Night, a decades-long night that fell upon Westeros about 8,000 years ago.
Now we know the truth. The very first White Walker was made when a Child of the Forest plunged dragonglass into a human's heart. Turns out human beings were cutting the Children of the Forest's sacred trees, and generally being very bad neighbors, so the Children of the Forest created the first White Walkers as a biochemical weapon against the First Men.
This, of course, turns out to be a spectacularly bad idea. As they say, what goes around, comes around . . .
Game of Thrones: We Really Need to Discuss That Hodor Stuff
Warning: Huge spoilers follow!
On this week's episode of Game of Thrones, we bid a hard farewell to Hodor, a character of few words but enormous heart. In season six, we've had the opportunity to delve into Hodor's past and discover who he was before he became the man so beloved by the Game of Thrones fan base. Over the course of the six seasons, the show builds a mystery around Hodor's limited vocabulary. Why is he only able to say his own name? When Bran explores his father's childhood in Winterfell, he also sees a young Hodor. He learns that Hodor's real name is Wylis, and he was once a stableboy with normal speaking abilities. So, it isn't that Hodor can only say his name; Hodor gets his name from his speaking problems.
How Does He Die?
When the White Walkers attack the great weirwood tree, Bran is busy watching his father and Hodor in the past in Winterfell. Meera, becoming panicked, asks Bran to "warg" into (possess) Hodor to help them escape. But Bran, with one foot in the past and one foot in the present, messes up. He attempts to tell Present Hodor to "hold the door" against the oncoming horde of White Walkers, but accidentally wargs into Past Hodor as well, who has a seizure. As Present Hodor is torn apart by the White Walkers, Past Hodor screams to "hold the door." Eventually, Past Hodor can only say "hodor."
What Will His Death Mean?
Hodor's death isn't just tragic; his fate raises enormous questions about the future of Game of Thrones. Bran isn't just visiting static memories and influencing the events of the past. What is the extent of Bran's abilities? The death of Hodor seems to indicate that his time travel creates closed causal loops, where Bran's manipulation of the past simply brings about conditions that already exist in the present (like Hodor's speech problems). If this is true, how many of the events of Game of Thrones are the results of Bran trying to change the past or doing it by accident? Hodor might be gone, but his death will send ripples through the Game of Thrones universe.
Stevie Wonder Crashed Madonna's Prince Tribute and Made Everyone Cry
Madonna paid tribute to her late friend Prince at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday night. She started off in a purple chair, singing "Nothing Compares 2 U," which Prince released with his funk band, The Family, in 1985. Stevie Wonder then joined in for an emotional rendition of Prince's 1984 hit "Purple Rain." While they're only two of the many celebrities to cover Prince since his death, the performance is definitely worth watching if only to see the masses of artists swaying along to the music in the audience. Watch, and listen to all of Prince's essential hits in remembrance.
Who Exactly Is the Three-Eyed Raven on Game of Thrones?
Spoiler warning! The following article contains major plot points from Game of Thrones season six, episode five.
Although we don't meet the Three-Eyed Raven on Game of Thrones until season five, his presence hangs over the entire series. When Bran falls from the tower and slips into a coma, the Three-Eyed Raven appears to him as a bird infiltrating his dreams. Later, Bran hears his voice coming from a weirwood tree, directing him to go north. When Bran finally meets the Three-Eyed Raven in person, he's an old man enfolded in the branches of a weirwood tree. When the Three-Eyed Raven dies defending Bran from the White Walkers on the latest episode, he leaves both Bran and the audience with more questions than answers.
Who Is He?
Nobody seems to be sure who exactly the Three-Eyed Raven is. Unlike the hundreds of other characters populating the Game of Thrones universe, he doesn't have a name. He doesn't have a house affiliation. In the Song of Ice and Fire books, his black cloak hints at a previous association with the Night's Watch, but he never talks about his own history.
What we do know for sure about the Three-Eyed Raven is that he is a Greenseer, gifted with the ability to see the past, present, and future and communicate through dreams. Greensight is more common with the Children of the Forest, but some humans, like the Three-Eyed Raven, also have this ability.
What Does He Want?
When Bran meets the Three-Eyed Raven, he says he's waited a thousand years for him. He assumes a mentor role to Bran, showing him visions but stressing that he cannot interact with the past. The Three-Eyed Raven assures Bran he won't become an old man stuck in a tree. So what exactly are his plans for Bran? The Three-Eyed Raven isn't a passive observer. After all, he uses his powers to bring Bran north. But he seems adamant that Bran shouldn't fiddle with the past.
What Does His Death Mean For Bran?
The Three-Eyed Raven tells Bran that he now must become the Three-Eyed Raven himself, even if he isn't ready. We've seen that Bran can affect the past, as his manipulation of Hodor's mind to defend himself from the White Walkers leads to Hodor's mental problems and eventual death. Will Bran heed the Three-Eyed Raven's warning about messing with past, or will he continue to explore his newfound abilities? We may not see the Three-Eyed Raven again, but his vision training with Bran will have enormous implications going forward.
We Tried Birch Water, the Electrolyte-Packed Superdrink
Claimed by some as the new coconut water, birch water is the latest trend in plant waters. A low-sugar, antioxidant-rich, electrolyte-loaded alternative to the tropical varieties, birch water comes is derived from sap of trees that grow in much colder climates.
Related: What Does Rose Water Taste Like?
We got to try Säpp Birch Water, which claims to be detoxifying, and organic - harvested directly from birch trees, and never diluted with water. Säpp has no added sugars, and only contains 10 calories per bottle.
Original
The unflavored variety garnered a mixed review, some finding it "super refreshing," and others finding it to taste "like watered down leftover kombucha foam," (oddly specific). Most noted a tart or sour taste, despite it being very mild.
Nettle
Also particularly tart was the Nettle flavor, which was very well received. Most who tested it said it "tastes like lemon iced tea," and said it was quite refreshing. Another kombucha reference came up (must be the sour flavor): "tastes like kombucha, but not fizzy." One confused commenter said "Good. Tastes like old stale wine." We have no idea what that means.
Rosehip
With a distinct molasses smell, the Rosehip flavor was the sweetest of all the flavors, with a bit of tartness true to all three birch wateres. One taste tester described "floral notes; tart but elegant," while another said "tastes like sour plum juice (good thing)." Another reference to tea was made, but it was described as watered-down: "like tea I let my ice melt in. Not bad."
Who Are the Children of the Forest on Game of Thrones? What You Need to Know
We're halfway into season six of Game of Thrones, and we have so many questions. Now that the dust has settled on Jon Snow's big moment, we're wondering about something entirely different: the Children of the Forest. We see one of them at the beginning of season six, episode two, when Bran comes out of the cave to speak with Meera. Once he goes back in, one of the Children, Leaf, starts telling Meera that Bran needs her. Meera doesn't seem too impressed with Leaf, but we're curious as hell. They reappear in a major way on the fifth episode, when we learn that they are responsible for creating a whitewalker to help fight their battles. (Not cool, by the way.)
So, what's the deal with these creatures?
First of all, we've seen Leaf before this season. She looks older now, but Leaf is the one who helps Bran, Meera, and Hodor reach safety at the end of season four, when they're being attacked by the wights. She also destroys Jojen's body with a fireball to prevent him from being reincarnated as a wight.
Children of the Forest are mythical creatures in the Game of Thrones universe. Though we know they're real because we've seen them, most inhabitants of the Seven Kingdoms believe they died out thousands of years before - or that they never existed at all. The Children worship the Old Gods, as do those in the Night's Watch. The weirwood tree that Bran and his team find sanctuary in is carved on by the Children of the Forest, who worship these trees, along with the spirits of everything found in nature.
In addition to staying forever young (many of the Children are said to be hundreds of years old), these creatures also possess magic. They aren't able to shoot fireballs in the A Song of Ice and Fire series, but like Bran Stark, some can see into the future. Those with that particular power are known as "Greenseers" in the books. Bran is one, as was Jojen - before his death. "He isn't going to stay here forever," Leaf says to Meera in the recent episode. "And out there, he needs you." This indicates that perhaps Leaf can see into the future, and knows that there will be a time when Bran is in trouble. She probably should have seen that army of Whitewalkers coming for Bran, no?
Watch Out, Daenerys Is About to Take What's Hers on Game of Thrones
This week's Game of Thrones episode featured a lot of plot development, but we're about to see even more characters making moves. Things aren't looking good for Margaery, Daenerys is aiming to take the throne, and Jaime is back. (Sorry, but I missed him this week.) Take a look at the sixth episode before it airs over Memorial Weekend - that's right, you'd better figure out a way to watch the new episode on vacation, or forever live with spoilers.
25 Mexican Recipes For People Who Really Effing Hate Cilantro
The Best Way to Grill Asparagus
Before I learned this method, my grilled asparagus always ended up stringy, charred, and shriveled. I had all but given up hope that it could ever taste good, unless wrapped in bacon. However, while at a dinner party, I learned a new way of cooking it that is foolproof.
Buy thick, hearty stalks of asparagus. These are less likely to fall through grill grates. Prep the asparagus by snapping off the woody ends and then peeling the stalk skin.
Lightly coat the asparagus in a neutral-tasting, high-heat oil, using your hands to evenly coat each stalk.
In a medium-high grill, place the asparagus stalks perpendicular to the grill grates. Close the top and allow the asparagus to cook/steam for approximately 30 seconds. Open the grill top, use tongs to flip toss the asparagus around, close the top, and cook for another 30 seconds.
Remove from the grill and salt and pepper to taste.
That's it! You can try leaving the asparagus on longer, if you prefer grill marks, but you will find this quick method cooks the asparagus through while maintaining a slight crunch.

Bagels made with a smooth mix of chocolate and vanilla are filled with a creamy Oreo cream cheese and, of course, a handful of fresh cookies layered right in the center. Are you ready for this?
Ingredients
1 cup warm water, divided2 teaspoons active dry yeast
1 1/2 tablespoons sugar
3 1/2 cups bread flour
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
4 teaspoons vanilla bean paste
2 tablespoons cocoa powder
1 cup cream cheese
24 Oreos

- Place 1/2 cup of water and yeast in a stand-up mixer fitted with a dough hook. Stir and let stand until slightly foamy, approximately 4 to 5 minutes. Add sugar, and mix.
- In a separate bowl, mix together flour and salt, and then gently mix it into the yeast mixture. Add the rest of the water a little at a time until the dough comes together. Remove from the mixer and place in an oiled bowl. Cover with a warm towel and let rest for 1 hour, or until the dough has doubled in size.
- Remove the dough and knead in vanilla bean paste. Once fully incorporated, divide the dough in half and knead cocoa powder into 1/2 of the doug,h forming a dark and light dough. Split the dough balls in half once again and roll out into squares.
- Layer the dough light, dark, light, dark, and then slice into 4 strips. Take each strip and gently roll into a bagel shape. Pinch together the ends so they stay.
- Preheat an oven to 375°F and grease a baking sheet with oil.
- In a large pot, bring water to a boil and boil the bagels for 45 seconds on each side. Remove bagels from the water and bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the bagel is cooked through and the exterior is firm to the touch. Remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack.
- In a food processor, crumble 8 Oreos until they are a fine crumb. Mix in cream cheese until incorporated. Cut bagels in half and spread generously with cream cheese. Add 2 Oreos to each bagel and cover with even more cream cheese. Sandwich with the top half of the bagel, and enjoy.

The Perfect Grill If You Are Completely Afraid of Grilling
When Bjorn stripped the egg of its protective nest covering, it was like a magician unveiling a trick. The Big Green Egg sparkled, and so did my eyes. He explained that beyond being completely in love with the grill, he's a big fan of the product's eggcessories, the fire starters and charcoal being two "egg-sentials." I was amazed how easy it was to build the fire, start it, and control the heat. One of my favorite features of the BGE (look at me, sounding all legitimate) is the thermometer on the grill, so you can constantly monitor the heat. Though the Big Green Egg can easily and quickly reach 700°F (and higher!), the temperature can just as easily come down using the sliding air flow controls located on the top of the bottom of the grill.
As we waited for the BGE to come to temperature, Bjorn schooled me on the features. That night, we used the BGE as a grill only, but it can also serve as a smoker and outdoor oven. According to another POPSUGAR employee, the baking stone eggcessory is a must as BGE pizza is just as good, if not better, than pizza from a wood-burning oven. After seeing the BGE in action, I can see how.
We roasted asparagus in a flash (less than a minute!!) and a whole lamb leg in under an hour. It turned out succulent and perfectly medium-rare on the inside while evenly caramelized on the outside. It was a true marvel how little fussing we had to do over the coals and the meat.
The BGE is like the Apple of the grilling world. It's exceptionally designed and constructed. It's so easy to use, you hardly need an instruction manual. You'll feel an immense boost of confidence in your ability to grill, even if you are a total newbie. Yet, even seasoned grillers will salivate over the BGE's immaculate features. So here's where things get a little disheartening: the price tag. While there are a bunch of different BGE sizes, the smallest one (the mini) is $699. Eeks! Here's to throwing your loose change in a piggy bank, because you will definitely want to save up for this grilling toy.
