45 Balayage Hair Color Ideas to Inspire Your Next Salon Appointment
There's plenty of enviable hair color out there - including a bevy of rainbow looks - but we covet killer balayage highlights the most. As it turns out, we're not the only ones; this color technique is all over Instagram. If we had to guess why it's so beloved, we'd say it's because the popular method makes strands look naturally sun-kissed instead of methodically dyed.
According to colorist Lauren E. Hack, cofounder of Lauren+Vanessa salon in New York, that's because the look is painted on. "The word literally means to sweep [in French]," she explained. "You sweep the color onto the hair strand by strand." The effect resembles the hair's natural highlights. Hack told us that many of her clients bring their young daughters to the salon as examples of the soft highlights they want to mimic.
The technique is ideal for low-maintenance beauties, since the color is applied very carefully so as to avoid lines of demarcation. Thus, the dye grows out beautifully, making it easy to stretch (or even wholly disregard) the time between salon appointments.
Our favorite characteristic of balayage, however, is that it makes fine hair look thicker. "Our hair follicle is thicker at the top and thinner at the bottom," said Hack. "With balayage you are able to create the illusion that the hair is more full at the bottom by painting thin to thick highlights from top to bottom, never seeing where the color begins and ends."
To get the balayage look for yourself, meet with your colorist. "Photos are key!" exclaimed Hack. She suggests you bring images of celebrities who have your dream hair. Then, your expert can consult with you on whether or not your desired color will suit your skin tone, lifestyle, and regimen. Read on to see the technique on various blond, brunette, and red hair hues!

4 Reasons I'm Not Going Back to Being a Brunette Yet
Since becoming a blonde two years ago, I can't say my life has gotten more fun - at least not particularly. The first thing that happened was an impromptu video chat with my boyfriend. His widened eyes said it all, but that didn't stop him from saying, "You look . . . different."
My transition from silky, dark brown locks was gradual. First I got tawny-looking highlights that were much too streaky, and two days later I marched into a random barbershop (note: this is never a good idea) and asked for a single-process dye job. From that moment on, things got rather janky. I couldn't believe how coarse my strands had become, and looking at photos of myself, I was concerned. My hair looked stained: a mustardy yellow, if you will.
Nevertheless, I counted Kate Bosworth and Sienna Miller as my favorite beauty icons. I was determined to get that look - at least when it came to shade. I eventually met a new stylist who nurtured my hair back to health, slowly but surely tweaking my tone to complement my olive skin. She highlighted it gradually with intermittent toner sessions, which held me over until it was time to go lighter. Now I'm feeling better than ever about my shade of blond, and I just got bangs modeled after - you guessed it - Sienna's. Despite my tough journey, I don't want to go back to brown hair just yet. I have blond ambition, you see.
Only, here's the thing: I'm a brunette at heart. When I look at photos of myself with a dark lob, I think I look sexy - especially in the middle of Summer. I feel like a brunette, even though I haven't been for over two years. Though I like the way I look, I know I was more confident before I made the switch. But I still plan to stay blond for as long as possible before going back to my natural color.
The color of your hair can't change every day, like your outfit. Your hair color helps to define you and your vibe, and it might even impact your sense of style. A fresh cut can bring out your feminine side; maybe your bob inspires you to slip on a headband and update your wardrobe with a preppy twist. In other words, a hair change is a big deal. When it's time to go back to brown, I'll just know. It'll be a new chapter of my life, but first, I just want to make sure I've lived this one to the fullest.

30 Summer Style Tips Michelle Obama Knows Like the Back of Her Hand
Once the warmer months roll around, it's easy to get a little lazy with what you wear. Oh, it'll be a high of 88 today? Shorts and a t-shirt it is. But like many professional women, Michelle Obama doesn't have the option of throwing on itty-bitty bottoms and heading out of the house (correction, the White House). So she opts for the next best thing: colorful sundresses, breezy tailored pants, and light layers, which help her appear polished and pulled together instead of ready for the beach.

This Braided Headband DIY Is an Unexpected Bridesmaids Hairstyle Idea

This season, try something dainty and unexpected: a braided headband. We love this style because it allows you to wear your hair down; it works with waves, curls, and sleek styles; and it looks just as pretty on longer lengths as it does lobs. These designs, whether bikinis or one-pieces, flatter our favorite stars and models from every angle. Jennifer Lawrence's BFF Channeled Beyoncé on Her Wedding Day, and That Alone Explains So Much
Being friends with a celebrity can't exactly be easy, especially when it's your very own wedding day. Because despite the fact that you're the one saying "I do," your famous pal will likely steal some of that spotlight - unless, of course, you're Laura Simpson, aka Jennifer Lawrence's BFF.
Getting married at the dreamy Borgo Stomennano Hotel in Tuscany, Italy, the brunette beauty had a plan: channel Beyoncé in a white Inbal Dror gown, and no one will be able to look at anything - or anyone - else. It worked, too. Just a glimpse at the bride's curve-hugging, floor-sweeping ensemble, and it was all "J Law who?"
Take a peek at her wedding look ahead, which is basically something we'd expect from someone who's BFFs with Jennifer. But if you're still so inclined to see what the Hunger Games star showed up in, we've got that too.
You'll Fall Hard For Angelina Jolie's Sexy Spring Style in This Film
By the Sea is not easy to sit through - at least not with a smile on your face. Written and directed by Angelina Jolie, the movie was released last year and stars none other than Angelina and Brad Pitt. But while the story is sad, the fashion is not. In fact, I couldn't tear my eyes away from the screen as Angelina - who's also one of my style icons - slipped into pleated midis, pussy-bow blouses, and leather flats, accessorizing with sunhats, oversize shades, and usually a cigarette or a glass of white wine.
Within the first few minutes of the film, she stomps onto the pebbled sand in her leopard heels, causing Brad's character, Roland, to murmur, "Might want to take your heels off, honey." It's little moments like this - or when Roland fixes his wife's sunglasses that have been carelessly tossed on a side table - that make By the Sea special for its style. As I watched, I decided to tweak my Spring wardrobe to look just like Vanessa's.
Angelina's character moves effortlessly. She wears silhouettes that are loose but drape beautifully to highlight her best assets. Her pieces, many of them long robes finished with lace, are made of chiffon or silk - and they're all on trend for the season. Read on to watch the trailer, get inspired by my favorite stills, and shop away.
Bella Hadid's Date-Night Style Is Crazy, Sexy, Cool
For some ladies, date night means a minidress and heels, while others keep it casual - jeans, a flouncy top, and flats, perhaps. But Bella Hadid takes the supermodel approach, doubling up on leather - her material of choice - in tight pants and a coordinated coat. When she stepped out with her beau, The Weeknd, she tied her hair in braids so we could better see her ribbed Cushnie et Ochs bodysuit, complete with a thick choker. Bella's edgy accessories included one Givenchy leopard satchel and patent moto boots, confirming that for her, there's nothing delicate about date-night style. Read on for an all-angles view, then shop her essentials when you scroll.

The 1 Thought That Helped Me Lose Weight
Life is too short to say "no" to anything delicious. So I didn't. I said "yes." Yes to three-layer cakes, chewy homemade cookies, decadent brownies, crispy french fries, pancakes doused in maple syrup, flaky chocolate-covered pastries, ice cream, gooey pizza - anything and everything. I didn't want to restrict myself at all, so I literally never said "no." If I had a brief doubt when reaching for something tasty, thinking, well, "maybe I shouldn't," a little voice inside would always say, "Yes. Go ahead. Because you're worth it." And boy was I worth it. Forty pounds worth it. That's how much I gained, not by eating entire sleeves of Oreos or gloriously enormous bowls of mac and cheese. It was bite by bite.
I was shocked at how much weight I'd gained just by eating a little extra here and there. And I realized that saying "yes" to all those foods wasn't making me happy. Initially, I was sad about not being able to button my jeans, but what really made me depressed was the fact that I wasn't taking care of myself. I felt like crap because I was eating so much crap.
So one day, when reaching for a second piece of dark chocolate with almonds, I stopped and said to myself, "No. Don't do it. Because you're worth it." That new mantra empowered me to take my health and weight into my own hands. I actually felt better restricting myself because I knew it was helping me get back on track and meet the goals I'd always had in mind - to be healthy.
Of course I don't say no to everything, I just don't say yes all the time. I definitely indulge every single day with a little something, but I'm more aware now of all those little extra nibbles I was taking just for the heck of it. Those little bites sure did add up, so not having those extra bites helped me get back into my jeans. My health is the most important thing to me, and this one small change in my thoughts has made a huge difference.

10 Exercises That Burn 200 Calories in Under 3 Minutes
If you find it hard to lose weight with your busy schedule, the news keeps getting better. First, just 20 minutes of exercise was proven to help increase your metabolism. Now, a study has found that working out intensely for just 2.5 minutes can spur calorie burn throughout the day - an extra 200 calories' worth.
In the latest study, five healthy men performed sprint interval training on a stationary bicycle (five 30-second intense intervals with four minutes of easy cycling in between). Although the men were sedentary the rest of the day, they ended up burning 200 more calories during the days they did the short bout of exercise than the days they didn't exercise at all.
Even though this was a small study, the encouraging results are reason enough to add intense intervals into your workout routine. It's also good news for those of you who can never seem to fit a full workout into your day. Here are 10 intense exercises you can do anywhere for 2.5 minutes so you too can reap the afterburn benefits. Perform these at maximum intensity; you can break them into 30-second or one-minute intervals to make it more manageable. Stick with one, or choose five to do for 30 seconds each!
New Study Reveals These 4 Healthy Habits Can Significantly Reduce Your Risk of Breast Cancer
The benefits of exercise surpass shedding pounds and chiseling your body. Maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle can also improve your general health and decrease your risk of multiple life-threatening diseases - including breast cancer. According to researchers in a recent study published by JAMA Oncology, women who carry genes linked to breast cancer can significantly lower their risk of the disease by simply maintaining a healthy lifestyle including four key components: managing a low BMI, limiting alcohol consumption, and avoiding smoking and hormone therapy post-menopause.
Researchers collected data from the records of women linked to various breast cancer genes to create a model to predict the absolute risk of breast cancer, mainly in white women in the US. They also considered nonmodifiable factors: family history, reproductive health, and lifestyle factors, along with anthropometric factors and SNPs (single nucleotide polymorphisms) in the women used to conduct the study.
They found that 11.3 percent of white women in their 30s are at absolute risk of developing breast cancer by age 80. But by maintaining the four modifiable variables mentioned above, an amazing 30 percent of breast cancer cases could be avoided.
The study also observed that women in the highest statistic of breast cancer susceptibility who maintained a low BMI and did not drink, smoke, or use post-menopausal hormone therapy reduced their risk to levels similar to an average woman in the population.
So if you're seeking ways to slim your risk of breast cancer, the bottom line is that there is magic in a healthy lifestyle in addition to your annual breast self-examinations. And whether you are at high risk of breast cancer or not, there is no denying the benefits of embracing healthy habits to live your most prosperous life.

Coolest Cat Ever Waltzes Into a Dog Show on a Leash, Wows Everyone
I tried time and time again to get one of my cats to walk on a leash, and it was a huge failure. Truthfully, no cat owner I know puts their cat on a leash. But you know what? The cat in this video - Boomer - is a pro on a leash, thanks to his animal-trainer human. Watch as they parade through a dog show and meet a whole bunch of dogs. Boomer takes it all in stride, playing with the pups and letting a few of them lick his head. It's almost cute enough to convince me to attempt leash-training my cat again. Keyword: almost.
The Surprising Way This Popular Instagram Star Finds Viral Memes For His Account
If you don't know who Josh Ostrovsky – better known as The Fat Jewish - is, you've probably been tagged in one of his viral memes on Instagram. Aside from his list of titles, including comedian, author, and plus-size model, his 8.4 million Instagram followers officially label him as an Internet Sensation.
I wasn't sure when to expect him at the San Francisco grand opening of ping pong social club SPiN until I heard a roaring marching band and shouts of excitement among guests. Yep - The Fat Jew had arrived.
You might expect him to scroll through Instagram every night in bed till 2 a.m. like the rest of us. Turns out, he has a surprising method to recruiting help and finding content.
"It's a variety of things - some of them I make, some of them I find in the crevasses of the internet. And now it's more like 14-year-olds," said Josh. "You can group DM now on Instagram so what happens is, like, kids will add in celebrities or me, like a Z-lister. So there'll be like 10 sixth graders, and they'll add Rihanna, and then like Beyoncé, and me."
And of course, his younger fans are more than thrilled to help.
"I'll jump in and be like 'What's up' and they'll be like 'OH MY GOD' - they can't believe I'm in there. And then I'll be like, 'Send me funny stuff!' I'll talk to them about what's going on in school, who sucks, what music is hot. Just group chatting with tweens basically."
Whether he's referring to his team of interns or he actually has an additional source of middle schoolers, we're not entirely sure. But it wouldn't be too far fetched of an idea from the man who's taught spinning classes to the homeless on stationary Citi Bikes.
And of course I had to ask the man of memes which were his favorites.
"Obviously I love dat boi." Josh laughed when mentioning the frog riding a unicycle. "And sad Michael Jordan. Kids are like, 'Hey, did you know the guy from the crying meme also played basketball?' Like that's how they primarily know him. So those are probably my faves right now."
So the next time you find yourself laughing at one of his memes, thank Josh and his army of meme minions.
15 Questions We Need Orange Is the New Black to Answer in Season 4
If you're catching the stale scent Red's prison food, it's because Orange Is the New Black is returning very, very soon. Season four of Netflix's hit comedy is premiering on June 17, and while we know plenty about the new episodes, we still have questions about how season three ends and what we're going to witness on the next season. Before we launch into the new episodes, let's take a look at the questions we're hoping will be answered during season four.
18 of Ryan Phillippe's Hands-Down Hottest Onscreen Moments
Hopefully you've already come to terms with your sick, twisted crush on Ryan Phillippe's Cruel Intentions character, Sebastian Valmont, because we've rounded up his plus many more of Phillippe's sexiest onscreen moments. There was the time he showed his butt in Cruel Intentions, yes, but his career has also been rife with even more hot shirtless moments, from his roles in 54, I Know What You Did Last Summer, and Stop-Loss to his most recent stint on TV in ABC's Secrets and Lies - and thankfully, Phillippe keeps us thirsting for more IRL, too.
Someone Finally Immortalized the Selfie in a Statue and We're Not Mad About It
It was only a matter of time before someone immortalized the selfie sculpturally - after all, it's completely ingrained in our culture now. Even Macbook selfie sticks are a product, albeit tongue-in-cheek. Well, an artist took selfies to the next level in Sugar Land, TX, and created a bronze statue depicting the gesture.
Sandy Levin, the artist behind the statue, noticed the abundance of selfies taken in the local square and decided to immortalize it. Along with a statue of a man playing the guitar, the selfie statue shows two cheesing as they lean in for a selfie.
Unsurprisingly, there was backlash. Some people in the community and on the internet didn't particularly like the idea of taxes being spent on the statue. Others on Twitter expressed their confusion with its approval.
When you just wanna mess around with taxpayers' money....... http://pic.twitter.com/OF7zS23yVm

What's my hometown like? Well they just erected a statue of 2 girls taking a selfie next to city hall sooooooo... http://pic.twitter.com/k4J2vQRZun
- Alexis Burrmann (@alexisburrmann) May 30, 2016
Whats crazier? The fact there is a #SelfieStatue in a TEXAS town, or that in the future it will also look old timey. http://pic.twitter.com/xSBme3CGh4
- J.J. (@josejonesfilms) May 31, 2016
The city clarified that the statues were donated and it stands by the statue. Levin also still plans to donate the eight remaining in the collection. Whether you like the statue aesthetically or not, selfies are here to stay so prepare for more selfie art!
This Instagram Account of Stormtroopers Posing With Whiskey Is Perfect
Some Star Wars mashups make sense. Most of them don't - including this Instagram account that combines stormtroopers and whiskey.
Started by a man named Brett, the account called scotch_trooper, chronicles the days of stormtroopers and Darth Vader relaxing with a glass of whiskey or learning about a new kind. Sometimes, the Force is used to pour a glass and let it be known that stormtroopers will protect their whiskey at any cost.
The account has more than 30,000 followers, which makes sense, considering people who love whiskey are pretty obsessed with it. Add Star Wars to the mix and you've got yourself a winning combination. Check out some of our favorites, and then follow Brett on Instagram or on his blog.

Muhammad Ali Has Died at Age 74
Legendary boxer Muhammad Ali has died. The 74-year-old sports icon passed away at a Phoenix-area hospital on Friday after having spent the past few days being treated for complications due to a respiratory issue. A spokesman for the Ali family confirmed the sad news, saying, "After a 32-year battle with Parkinson's disease, Muhammad Ali has passed away at the age of 74. The three-time World Heavyweight Champion boxer died this evening."
Muhammad Ali, who was born Cassius Clay and dubbed "The Greatest," began boxing at the age of 12. He rose to fame in the 1960s and soon became well-known not just for his athletic prowess but also for his activism and controversial political outlook. He also had an infamous way with words, coining phrases like "I'm the king of the world" and "float like a butterfly, sting like a bee." He was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease over three decades ago and was rendered nearly speechless, though his strength, impact, and inspiration never wavered. He will be missed.
The True Story Behind Orange Is the New Black
If you're a fan of Orange Is the New Black, then you know by now that it's based on the real experiences of Piper Kerman. Kerman, known as Piper Chapman (and played by Taylor Schilling) on the show, published a bestselling memoir of the same name. While Kerman says the show, headed by Weeds creator Jenji Kohan, is not a docudrama whatsoever, her real-life experience does come through in the series. Obviously, the show has diverted a lot since we've been through seasons two and three, (plus the upcoming fourth season!) but here are factual details that inspired the series.
The Crime
After college, the real Piper Kerman fell for a woman caught up in an international drug ring. In the book, she calls her Nora, and if you watch the show, you know her as Alex (played by Laura Prepon). The real Piper smuggled $10,000 from Chicago to Brussels, Belgium, during her time with Nora, and 10 years later, the law caught up with her. In a 2010 interview with NPR, Kerman said that while she had long harbored resentment toward Nora, during her time in prison, she accepted full responsibility for the drug-ring days. She said, "It was a reckless and selfish time in my life."
The Author Fiancé
Just like in the show, Kerman had a fiancé named Larry (Larry Smith, who is a writer), who was by her side during her incarceration. In the show, Larry, played by Jason Biggs, writes a Modern Love article titled "One Sentence, Two Prisoners" in season one. The real Larry's Modern Love piece was published on March 25, 2010, with the title "A Life to Live, This Side of the Bars." In the real column, Larry recalls how he and Kerman reacted when her past came back to haunt her: "To say she was freaked out and wondering if I would stick around for the messes sure to come is an understatement. To say that it never once crossed my mind to bail on her is simply a statement of fact." In her own memoir, Kerman said this of the column: "Even here, without him, I couldn't imagine any sweeter Christmas present." In 2006, Kerman wed Smith, and they're still married.
The Prison Rules
In the Orange Is the New Black book, Kerman wrote about the official and unofficial rules of prison life, many of which are played out in the series:
I had learned a lot since arriving in prison five months ago: how to clean house using maxipads, how to wire a light fixture, how to discern whether a duo were best friends or girlfriends, when to curse someone in Spanish, knowing the difference between "feelin' it" (good) and "feelin' some kinda way" (bad), the fastest way to calculate someone's good time, how to spot a commissary ho a mile away, and how to tell which guards were players and which guards were noth-in' nice. I even mastered a recipe from the prison's culinary canon: cheesecake.
In her NPR interview, Kerman also discussed how race played a part in how people organized in prison. But she also explained that as time goes on, the "tribal" organization becomes looser: "While initially people might sort of gravitate toward the people who are the same color of them, I think that matters less and less the longer you're there."
Kerman's fiancé's real New York Times column also touched on the strict rules that play out in the show's many visitation scenes. He wrote: "No one else in my life knew the reality of our circumstances, like why buying your lady a Diet Coke from the vending machine in the visiting room (because our women weren't allowed to touch money) was among the greatest acts of love you were capable of performing."
The Cast of Characters
One of the most distinctive aspects of the Netflix show is its diverse ensemble cast. While many are purely fictional, others are adapted from people Kerman actually came across in prison. While show writers created the backstory for Sophia, played by transgender actress Laverne Cox, there was a trans woman living next door to Kerman in prison, whom she calls Vanessa in the book. Also, Kerman dedicated her book to the Red character, whom she calls "Pop" in the memoir. In the book, she recalls Pop saying:
Listen, honey, I know you just got here, so I know that you don't understand what's what. I'm gonna tell you this once. There's something here called "inciting a riot," and that kind of shit you're talking about . . . you can get in big trouble for that . . . so take a tip from me, and watch what you say.
Finally, the true nature of the relationships are also captured. "A lot of folks sort of ask salacious questions about the romantic relationships between women," Kerman said in 2010, "but I think the dominant paradigm of women's relationships in prison is the mother-daughter relationship."
The Ex
Kerman gave a TED talk in 2013 about the prison system, peppering it with details about her own incarceration. In it, Kerman shared bits about people who inspired characters on the show - like the ex-lover who got her into the drug trade. At the seven-minute mark of the video below, Kerman shares how confronting her ex helped her confront her past.
The SHU
Season two begins with Piper serving time in the SHU for attacking Pennsatucky, but in real life, Kerman never had solitary confinement. She did, however, testify before the Senate earlier this year on behalf of eliminating the use of solitary as punishment.
Furlough
A big season two plot point for Piper is how she gets furlough when she finds out her grandmother is dying. In the show, she misses her death but still gets to head home for a couple of days. In real life, Kerman also lost her grandmother but didn't get furlough or to say goodbye. She told EW in a 2010 interview: "It's devastating when you confront how selfish actions you've taken are preventing you from being there for the people who need you the most. That's a terrible, terrible thing."

We Don't Know If We Should Stare at Eva Longoria's New Hair Color or Amazing Dress First
Newlywed Eva Longoria knows the first rule about wedding beauty: wear your hair like you normally do, and never make a drastic change right before the ceremony. Another thing she knows? After the honeymoon, anything is game. That's why the actress and producer called her glam squad as soon as she landed from Cambodia, where she spent her first few days as a married woman with husband José Antonio Bastón, for a makeover.
Eva, who shared a photo of longtime friend and hairstylist Ken Paves and his team going to work on her new blonder look, debuted her new style on the red carpet for the premiere of Lowriders. Pairing her Summer-ready hair with a curve-hugging asymmetrical Vatanika black dress, Alaïa heels, and a gleaming smile, Eva looked positively happy.
On the red carpet, she opened up about already having kids - Pepe's three children from his previous marriage - saying they're in no rush to have children of their own. Keep scrolling to see more shots of Eva on the red carpet and check out the behind-the-scenes snap of how she got ready.
Lose Weight, Feel Great, and Stop Getting Sick: It Starts With Your Gut
Is your gut healthy? Believe it or not, the gut - especially its healthy bacteria - has so much to do with the way your body functions, well beyond your digestion.
Related: WTF is Probiotic Water?
"When it comes to ensuring women's health, there's nothing quite as powerful as a balanced microbiome," said Jamie Morea, founder of Hyperbiotics. "The amount of good microbes in your gut impacts everything, from your cognitive health and your immune system to your metabolism, energy levels, and muscular strength."
It's true - more and more science is linking gut health and the bacteria in our digestive tract to different aspects of health, including weight loss. Dr. Frank Lippman is an advocate of a balanced gut as well, citing that a healthy gut can be a fat-burning machine and aids in losing weight.
But hold on a minute - what exactly is a microbiome? Put simply (and to spare you a semester of biology), the human microbiome (also known as microbiota) is your body's own little ecosystem of all the microorganisms (read: bacteria) living in your GI tract and the environment in which they live.
Here's how a healthy gut (a balanced microbiome!) impacts the rest of your health:
- Promotes a Healthy Immune System. Science has shown that a healthy gut = a healthy you. Probiotics protect your body from infection and bolster your immune system, giving you an increased ability to fight off illness. More probiotics means less need for antibiotics. Yay!
- Improves Mood. Some sources have pointed to the gut's effect on mental health and mood, citing that probiotics could help with depression and anxiety. Some studies even saw personality shifts!
- Can Help You Lose Weight. In a 2013 study, obese women were able to "achieve sustainable weight loss" through the improved health of their gut and the addition of probiotics - meaning probiotics can aid in weight loss.
- Better Digestion. Healthy bacteria can combat a slew of digestive issues, including bloating, IBS, and constipation.
- Clearer Skin. Skin woes got you down? Drink some kombucha or get a probiotic supplement! A balanced gut contributes to healthy skin and has been known to fight eczema and even clear up acne.

An Artist Re-Created Star Wars: A New Hope Into a Long and Beautiful Infographic
Some Star Wars fans use their tax returns to take epic photos with the cast. Others try on a Chewbacca mask and make the world laugh with them. And then there's Martin Panchaud, an illustrator who re-created the entirety of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope into one very long, beautiful infographic.
The entire infographic is complete with the dialogue and characters from the film. As it stands, it's 123 meters or 403 feet in length. Panchaud took this creative approach because he was inspired and reminded of ancient Chinese scrolls. He further mentions that he did this because Star Wars is a "childhood memory" of his and he really loves it.
As you can see, characters are shown as circular dots.
Scrolling through the entire illustration is truly mesmerizing (and maybe a little tiresome for your finger), but Panchaud does not miss a single line or scene from the movie.
So do yourself a favor and check out the entire work on his website. You won't be disappointed.
If You Don't Follow This Senior Dog Facebook Page, You're Seriously Missing Out
If you're considering "unplugging" from social media, we've got one thing that might convince you to stick around: old, adorable dogs. The Old Friends Senior Dog Sanctuary Facebook page is probably the purest place on the internet, and the elderly canine rescue will make you smile every time you log on to your timeline. Located in Mount Juliet, TN, Old Friends is a sanctuary dedicated to finding "forever fosters" for dogs who are over the hill. Luckily for us (and the page's 1.4 million - and counting! - followers) the sanctuary posts sweet updates multiple times per day.
While a property filled with old dogs looking for homes might sound depressing, Old Friends is the exact opposite; there's nothing sweeter than seeing elderly pooches enjoying retirement together. From Leo, the shaggy lady killer, to Mildred, the one-eyed Pug who is running for president, you'll grow to love and look forward to seeing these pups-at-heart on your Facebook page.
Don't believe us? Well check out these adorable posts from Old Friends and the overwhelmingly positive responses from formerly jaded social media users. You'll click "like" faster than you can say "awww." (You're welcome.)
