Yoga Can Help You Get Ahead at Work - Here's How

If you've been practicing yoga regularly, you've no doubt started to feel the positive effects on your body and mind. Once you roll up your mat after class and fix that postyoga messy bun, you feel light, energized, and conscious. But did you know that you could use what you learn in yoga class to be more successful at work? Read on to learn ways to take your yoga practice into the workplace, beyond your postclass "namaste."

Make Room For Mindfulness

The very idea of yoga is to find presence in each moment, without dwelling on the past or racing toward the future. While you may have mastered keeping your mind still during Warrior 2, do you still have trouble focusing on tasks during work? Try bringing all of your attention to whatever task you've started - that means saying no to multitasking. Having a one-on-one with your manager? Hold the space by paying attention, getting curious with questions, and setting deadlines for accountability. Try setting aside an hour at the beginning or end of your day to tackle emails, instead of getting distracted by notifications throughout the day. Being present will help with anxiety, stress, and being overwhelmed by your to-do list.

Nonreactivity Is Key

Yoga teaches us to accept whatever comes our way, without being attached to one outcome or another. Wouldn't it be fantastic if our co-workers never made any snide remarks and we got every promotion we ever wished for? Since we don't live in utopia, there will always be chaos and challenge in life, especially at work. While yoga won't make that go away, it can teach us not to dive into that negative space and, instead, find calm within. Practicing meditation or breathing techniques before work or during a lunch break will allow you to slow down before jumping to conclusions and reacting rashly.

Wherever You Are, Find Light

In yoga when we greet each other with the Sanskrit word namaste, we're basically saying, "the light that resides within me, recognizes and honors the light within you." It's easy to get bogged down and stuck in the seriousness of work, especially in a high-stress environment. Apply that principle of finding the light in the toughest situations to ground yourself. Did your new project totally face plant? Celebrate the learnings from that failure. Struggling with a new program? Ask for help and give thanks to a mentor. If we can flip our perception and stop labeling situations as "bad," everything becomes an opportunity.

Of course, none of these principles come easy. The same way you may wobble in Dancer's pose before hitting your stride, applying these yogic attributes to the workplace requires practice and patience.

Rowling's magical novels, there's no disappointing result - except Dolores Umbridge, of course! Here's the Deal With Supernatural Star Misha Collins's Massive Charity Scavenger Hunt

For the fifth year in a row, Supernatural star Misha Collins is launching GISHWHES . . . or the Greatest International Scavenger Hunt the World Has Ever Seen. Although the scavenger hunt has been around for years, it just keeps getting bigger and bigger. This year, Misha has already been turning it out - he bestowed Jensen Ackles with a People's Choice Award, launched a crisis hotline for fans, and, of course, has continued to delight as everyone's favorite angel on Supernatural, Castiel. Come the end of the July, though, Misha's year is going to get a whole lot crazier. So, what do you need to know if you want to participate in GISHWHES? We're breaking it down below.

  1. Registration is open! The hunt launches on July 30 and runs for a week. You'll be placed in 15-person teams. There are thousands of participants out of over 100 countries!
  2. The event has seven Guinness World Records to its name. They include: Largest Photo Scavenger Hunt (2011), Largest Media Scavenger Hunt (2012), Most Pledges For Campaign (2012), Largest Online Photo Album of "Hugs" (2013), Largest Chain of Safety Pins (2013), Largest Gathering of People Dressed as French Maids (2014), Most People in a Decorated Hat Competition (2014), and Longest Human Chain to Pass Through a Hula Hoop (2014). Who knows what'll happen this year?!
  3. There are hundreds of tasks. You could be asked to do anything, from giving out free hugs while covered in whipped cream to feeding your sick friend soup . . . with a leaf-blower.
  4. You've got to get some points. The more you do, the more points you get. The more points you get, the better chance you have of taking the grand prize!
  5. You could win a major prize. The winning team wins an all-expenses-paid trip to Iceland . . . with Misha Collins.
  6. There's an important message. The whole thing is meant to encourage us to live our best abnormal lives. According to the website, GISHWHES "believes that 'normalcy' is overrated and that true 'living' can be found hidden under the rocks of community artistic creation, acts of artistic sublime public performances, and random acts of kindness."

10 Things You Can Do Today to Boost Your Metabolism

If you're trying to lose weight, it'll make you feel better to know you have some control over your metabolism - especially if you learn a few tricks. Here are 10 things you can do every day to burn more fat.

  1. Eat in the morning: Skipping breakfast can slow down your body's ability to burn fat as it tries to conserve energy. You can prevent this by eating a healthy breakfast within an hour of waking. Here are some satisfying breakfast ideas (like this low-carb cauliflower porridge) that follow the perfect formula designed by dietitians to help you lose weight.
  2. Eat throughout the day: Keeping blood sugar levels consistent will keep your metabolism functioning properly, and eating smaller meals and snacks - five to six a day instead of three - is one way to prevent those drastic drops. It will also help satiate hunger, so you end up eating fewer total daily calories.
  3. Drink H20: Studies show that drinking eight to 12 glasses of water per day helps burn more fat. It also keeps you feeling full which is a bonus if you're trying to cut calories. Drink a glass upon waking and set an alarm every hour to remind yourself to drink up.
  4. Eat whole grains: Fiber-full brown rice, barley, quinoa, steel cut oats, millet, and farro take extra energy to chew, increasing calorie burn by 10 percent! They also take longer to digest, which increases the calorie burn. Make steel-cut oatmeal and add cooked whole grains to your salad to get your daily fill.
  5. Grab a cup of joe: Caffeine naturally stimulates your central nervous system, and enjoying a daily cup of coffee is proven to boost metabolism.
  6. Stand up: Sitting all day has become a huge problem with today's office jobs. Standing burns more calories than sitting, so if you use a standing desk and work upright at least an hour out of your eight-hour day, you'll burn almost 100 extra calories. That's 500 extra calories per week!
  7. Exercise for an hour: Studies say that one hour of exercise a day can change your DNA and boost your metabolism. Cardio is the winner here, and more specifically, interval training. So instead of moving at a steady pace, vary your intensity by trying this 60-minute walking-jogging workout.
  8. Get strong: Muscle burns fat, so don't forget to strength train with weights or bodyweight moves. Include at least 120 minutes per week - try this dumbbell circuit workout.
  9. Get spicy: Using hot peppers in your recipes or sprinkling on some cayenne, cinnamon, or turmeric raises your body's temperature, which speeds up the fat-burning process.
  10. Sip tea while doing yoga in a bubble bath: OK, maybe not all at once. But stress can greatly affect the speed of your metabolism, because if cortisol (the stress hormone) levels get too high, it inhibits your body's ability to burn fat. Do something every day, especially before bed, to help you feel calm.

I'm a Harry Potter Fan With No Hogwarts House and DAMN Proud of It

Finding out your Hogwarts House is the ultimate Harry Potter fan rite of passage. Growing up, I (obv . . . iously) considered myself a Gryffindor because that was (duh) the best house to be in and I was (of course) as cool as Harry and Hermione and Ron. Also I was brave or whatever.

But academics have always been of the utmost importance to me; I'm addicted to reading, love learning, and really, truly enjoy being right. And hell yes I have wit beyond measure! I'd even go as far as to say it's my greatest treasure. So in my old age, aka my early 20s, I began to embrace the fact that, perhaps, after all, I was not the lion I believed myself to be, but instead a true Ravenclaw at heart. Well, that changed things! My loyalties shifted and I started to ask myself important questions such as "Should I replace my Gryffindor scarf with a Ravenclaw one?" and "Does this mean I am not brave but instead just wise?"

Then, years ago when Pottermore was first introduced, I was sorted into Gryffindor. Case closed, right? Wrong. Something still felt off. Another stab at Pottermore recently (Slytherin this time) and hundreds (I don't think that's an exaggeration) of quizzes with various results later, I began to face my growing trepidation and most deep-seated fear of all: maybe I actually felt a pull toward Slytherin? Home of snakes. Stomping ground of Death Eaters, and a house that was largely disparaged throughout the books. Yet, something has always rung true with me in the Sorting Hat's words; maybe I'd actually be honored to be counted among folks who "use any means to achieve their ends," and who are known for their cunning and ambition. Maybe.

It all felt like a lie. A big, secret lie I've been keeping from the true Ravenclaws, Slytherins, Gryffindors, and Hufflepuffs who are pure of Harry Potter heart while I flirt with the idea of belonging to not one, not two, but three Hogwarts Houses. Am I . . . divergent? Needless to say, as a Houseless Potter fan, I've faced some trying times. There are, after all, some very real struggles that only other fans who face such a dilemma would understand. For instance:

1. Shopping for Harry Potter paraphernalia is never easy.

After going back and forth between a Ravenclaw notebook (blue because, yay, my favorite color!) or a Slytherin one (green does go with my eyes), I just end up saying f*ck it and grabbing the Hogwarts crest one. That, or go broke buying something from all the Houses. Cool. Good job.

2. You cling tightly to hybrid quizzes that let you be more than one house.

Bless the souls who have created hybrid house quizzes that sort you into combined houses that for SOME OF US more accurately represent where we should be. I get Slytherclaw nine times out of 10.

3. You've had multiple phases of your life where you were 100 percent sure about your House affiliation.

Then you reread the books or watch the movies, and it all goes to hell and you fall into the depths of an existential crisis. Would you be better off as a Squib? Maybe Muggle life is all you deserve . . .?

4. You get offended when someone insults ANY of the Hogwarts Houses.

Since you identify with several Houses, it feels like a personal insult when Gryffindors are labeled as brash buffoons, or when Slytherins are so villainized. It's like, nobody puts wizards in a corner, OK?

5. You have a minor panic attack when people ask you what House you're in.

The conversation usually goes a little something like this: Them (in a light cheery voice): "I'm definitely a Hufflepuff, what about you?!" You (sweating profusely): "Do you have a few minutes, because actually here's the thing . . . " *20 very awkward minutes of frantic explanations go by* Them (backing away slowly): "K, LOL, G2G."

Some of us don't have the certainty of our Harry Potter identities to keep us warm at night but we're all really happy that you do.

6. You (eventually . . .) have an epiphany and realize that not belonging to a single House is actually the best ever.

Who saved the Wizarding World from the darkest wizard of all time? Harry Potter, a Gryffindor. And who sacrificed his life to protect said savior of the Wizarding World from Voldemort? Snape, a Slytherin. Luna Lovegood, one of my favorite characters of all time, is a Ravenclaw, and J.K. Rowling herself has declared it to be the age of Hufflepuff.

It dawns on you: we unaligned Potterheads get to have our Cauldron Cake and eat it too. We get the best deal of all, because we are able to see ourselves in so many unique wizards of diverse talents, and the bond between reader/viewer and character is made even deeper because it's with an individual person, rather than with a whole House. We get to be anything and everything - brave, wise, cunning, kind. Which basically means we get to be straight up awesome, all the damn time.

Ambitious Squishable Hamburger Makes History by Flying Across the Country

Whether you're a full-fledged adult or a college kid who's still trying to pick out classes, we can all admit that stuffed toys are some of the best things out there. Well, turns out, one plane passenger felt the same way, as she brought a stuffed hamburger on a plane and made sure it rode safely.

As you can see, the hamburger is large but was able to fit the seat belt over its buns. The man who posted the tweet, David Farrier, is a journalist and director from New Zealand, who was lucky enough to take a selfie with the burger.

According to his tweets, the burger traveled from Washington DC to Cape Cod, MA, and was purchased at Sullivan's Toys and Art Supplies. A large version of the hamburger will cost you $40 and a smaller one will be $20. Don't live in DC? Don't worry, you can buy the Squishable Hamburger online for $42.

The burger, if you're wondering, made it safely off the plane.

And all jokes aside, this is actually awesome and we're really jealous. We wish we had this buddy with us on every plane ride. Besides, what a time to be alive and see such a tweet that can bring us this much happiness. You do you, hamburger owner!

You Can Now Officially Get Sorted Into Ilvermorny, the American Version of Hogwarts

If you were anxiously waiting to get sorted into Ilvermorny - J.K. Rowling's American version of Hogwarts - the wait is over. The author not only released a new video and backstory about the school, but also an official sorting ceremony quiz on Pottermore that she wrote herself. Similar to the Hogwarts sorting hat quiz, the user is taken through a series of questions before being delivered a final house verdict. The four houses in Ilvermorny are Horned Serpent, Wampus, Pukwudgie, and Thunderbird and are based on magical creatures native to North America.

J.K. Rowling even shared some extra tidbit on Pottermore about the houses:

"It is sometimes said of the Ilvermorny houses that they represent the whole witch or wizard: the mind is represented by Horned Serpent; the body, Wampus; the heart, Pukwudgie and the soul, Thunderbird. Others say that Horned Serpent favours scholars, Wampus, warriors, Pukwudgie, healers and Thunderbird, adventurers."

To take the quiz, simply sign up for an account on Pottermore (if you don't already have one) and click The Ilvermorny Sorting Ceremony. Good luck!

F*ck! I Spilled Coffee on My Laptop - Now What?

So you just knocked water over onto your MacBook and are probably freaking out right about now. But don't worry - we've all been there. Some of us have done it multiple times, making us experts on the matter. Plus, we've got some dos and don'ts from POPSUGAR's very own desktop support technician, Chris Allison. There's no guarantee that your laptop will come back from this accident, but here are step-by-step instructions to make it possible.

1. Shut your MacBook down.

Hold the power button for about 10 seconds to turn your laptop off immediately.

2. Unplug everything.

Detach your charger or any other cords that may still be plugged in.

3. Let it dry.

Open the lid to 30 degrees and sit the device onto its side to let the liquid run out and prevent further damage. Wipe off any excess liquid.

"Do NOT expect it to dry and keep using it. I have seen that so many times," said Chris. "It also depends on the type of liquid spilled. I once had a guy spill apple cider on it. There's no coming back from a sticky situation like that. The best thing to spill on it would be isopropyl alcohol, but that simply never happens."

4. Leave it off for at least a day.

If you truly can't wait, you can try powering your MacBook back on after a whole day, but holding off for a few days would be best.

"Keep in mind, it may still work after it dries, but corrosion on the silicon boards and parts inside always occurs. It's just a matter of time."

Before such a crisis occurs, be sure to back your laptop up ASAP. If you are still experiencing problems after these steps, take your device to the Apple Store for inspection and repair.

The Best Running Workout For Newbies

If you're new to running, I'm a firm believer in easing into your relationship with running to give your body time to adjust to the physical demands - you don't want to get so sore that you never want to run again. Mixing walking and running is a great way to get your heart rate up while priming your body for distance and speed. Here's a 40-minute walking/running workout perfect for beginners - or for seasoned runners in the mood for a lighter workout.

Click here for a printable version of this workout. As always, if this workout is too hard or too easy, feel free to decrease or increase the speed. I would keep the incline set to 1.0 because this helps prevent shin splints, which can be a common problem for new runners. Try to do this workout three times in one week. The following week, after warming up for the first 10 minutes, run for three minutes and walk for three minutes, keeping the last two segments at two minutes each, then cool down with walking. Try it. You just might get hooked on running.

These Mesmerizing Double Exposure Tattoos Are Filled With Colorful Designs

Polish artist Andrey Lukovnikov primarily merges flower, animal, and insect designs into one mesmerizing piece of body art. Think of it as ink inception - tattoos within a tattoo. He uses the main subject, like a heart, as the silhouette and then fills it in with designs rather than just solid color. As you'll see, the final product is amazingly cool. His Facebook page has more than 10,000 fans and once you check out his work ahead, you'll be one, too.

The Obama Women Are Greeted by Royalty After They Touch Down in Morocco For a Girls' Trip

Another day, another fabulous outing by the Obama women. On Tuesday, Michelle and daughters Malia and Sasha were spotted arriving at Marrakesh International Airport in coordinating printed ensembles. Upon their arrival, the ladies flashed big smiles as they were welcomed with open arms by King Mohammed VI's wife, Moroccan Princess Lalla Salma. The family is visiting Morocco as part of Michelle's initiative Let Girls Learn, and later that day, the first lady participated in a CNN-moderated panel alongside Meryl Streep and Freida Pinto, where she spoke to adolescent girls about the challenges they face in getting a quality education.

Of course, this is just one of the many vacations the brood has taken since Barack Obama became president in 2009. During the holidays, the family usually jets off to Barack's native Hawaii to ring in the New Year, and during the Summer, they can usually be found relaxing in Martha's Vineyard, MA. See more of the ladies' getaway here, then in honor of the upcoming Fourth of July holiday, flip through the Obamas' Independence Day traditions over the years.

74 Things You Totally Did as a Teenager in the 2000s

Remember last decade, how you used to quote Mean Girls word for word while talking to your best friend on your Nokia cell phone? You wore low-rise jeans with tiny t-shirts and Rocket Dog sandals and spent your afternoons requesting music videos on TRL and learning the dance moves to "I'm a Slave 4 U." We'll be honest; we still quote Mean Girls and try to copy Britney Spears routines, but we look back on those days with equal parts dreamy nostalgia and sheer horror. We're taking a trip down memory lane with all the best (and worst) things about coming of age in the aughts. So here we go: you know you were a teenager in the 2000s if . . .

Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston Made Out on Top of the Colosseum in Rome

Since Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston were first spotted making out on a giant rock in Rhode Island on June 19, the new couple has seemingly made it their mission to flaunt their new relationship in every country. With the US down thanks to their New England PDA and a romantic trip to Nashville, the two hopped across the pond to go for a beachside stroll with Tom's mom in the UK, and on Monday they grabbed a quick flight to Rome so they could share a few kisses on top of the Colosseum. Tom and Taylor looked especially head over heels during their jaunt to Italy, which included plenty of hand-holding, photo shoots in ancient ruins, and stolen kisses during dinner. With the number of relationship milestones they've already achieved (meeting the parents, going on double dates with each other's friends), we can hardly believe they've only been dating for two weeks. Check out more from their vacation to Rome!

18 Times President Obama Was Unequivocally You

Over the past eight years, Barack Obama has risen to fame not only as the president of the United States, but also as one cool, relatable dude. His hilarious, candid facial expressions have become memes, and with VP Joe Biden by his side, he's been at the center of many moments that most of us would call "normal." Among these occurrences is when President Obama gets up close and personal with everyday Americans, shares sweet moments with kids, or looks totally, completely over it. Basically, he's more like you than you probably realize.

All the Times You Just Couldn't Relate to Gwyneth Paltrow

Gwyneth Paltrow can't stop making headlines with her candid comments, whether she's calling for an end to the mommy wars or likening dealing with Internet bullies to going through actual war. She's often a bit over the top and it can be hard to relate, like when she told CNNMoney that she is like the "common woman" but stays in beachfront villas that cost $40,000 a week. While we can't deny that Gwyneth's given some good advice over the years - and she's one of our favorite famous blondes - we also can't ignore all those totally unrelatable moments. Let's take a look at them now.

Jesse Williams on His BET Awards Speech: I Want to "Give People a Sense That They Are Not Alone"

On Sunday night, Jesse Williams had the audience at the BET Awards on their feet when he delivered a rousing, memorable speech about social justice, the Black Lives Matter movement, and other important racial issues in America. The Grey's Anatomy star, who was a teacher before he pursued acting full-time, opened up to People about how many of the problems he touched on in his speech start in our country's school systems. "Words are only as good as the response to those words, but I'd like to think that I give people a sense that they are not alone," he said. "Otherwise we are treating the symptoms and not the sickness."

Jesse also touched on the fact that schools are guilty of not properly teaching the history of African people. "If we keep poisoning our children to believe that we are nothing and that white people are everything, that's when it finds itself reflected in the way we treat each other," he continued. "It's not that complicated. The truth we are teaching is that every contribution in the history of the planet came from blond people. It's not true and it's destructive and people are getting killed long-term as a result. People don't believe that we deserve it."

In addition to shining a light on the problems that plague America's schools generally, the actor - who has two young children, Maceo and Sadie - revealed how these struggles affect the way he views his role as a parent, and how he aims to fix it. "We now have access to more information to view as a parent," he said. "I grew up in a really horrible school system, but my parents did not let that define how we function. They gave me more work at home from them than I ever got from school. To learn about the history of myself and my people, and that armors me. Whether you are reading about Frederick Douglas or you are reading about all the black inventors in the country that invented so many things that we touch and feel every day, or you can get really heavy with the history of African civilization, there is a lot in between."

Alexander Skarsgard Sadly Did Not Wear a Loin Cloth to the Red Carpet Premiere of Tarzan

Although Alexander Skarsgard spends much of The Legend of Tarzan shirtless, he hit the red carpet for the movie's LA premiere on Monday covered up in a James Bond-worthy suit. The handsome actor and his costar Margot Robbie flashed bright smiles and broke into laughter while whispering to each other in front of photographers, making quite a picture-perfect pair. The unfairly good-looking duo reportedly had so much chemistry in the film that one of their sex scenes got pretty rough, so we can't wait to see more cute red carpet moments from them in the coming weeks. Keep reading to see more photos of Alexander and Margot!

When it comes to comfortable, fresh Summer style, there's no one else to look to for inspiration than Brazilian Victoria's Secret Angel Alessandra Ambrosio. The avid music festival fan has picked up a trick or two about staying cool in the highest temperatures, living first in hot and humid Erechim, Brazil, then always sunny Los Angeles.

It's a piece you probably have buried in the back of your closet, from back in 2014 when everyone was wearing one, day in and day out. Run out of guesses? It's the maxi, both in dress and skirt form. The Devil Wears Prada: 21 Emily Moments That Will Make You Say, "Same"

As we approach the 10th anniversary of The Devil Wears Prada, it's time for a bit of retrospection. It's always fun to look back at the film's most memorable GIFs and fun casting trivia, but there's something we think is even more worth examining. One of the most remarkable facets of the film is the exceptional depth of its characters. Miranda's British first assistant, Emily Charlton, is no exception. Let's look back at the moments that made her so iconic.

Jon Snow's 4 Luckiest Moments From Season 6 of Game of Thrones

No matter how depressing and broody Jon Snow gets, he's one of the few characters on Game of Thrones we have no problem always rooting for. With a moral compass so strong, it's actually pretty surprising that he's survived this long (well, for the most part) in a world like Westeros. He always seems to get himself out of really bad situations - or does he? Maybe he's just one very lucky bastard. Season six seems to prove the latter theory again and again. Here's why.

This Pit Bull Does Better Cartwheels Than You

It's amazing what you can teach an animal to do. Take Oakland the Pit Bull, for instance. This rescue Pit Bull wanted so badly to join in the fun with (clearly his favorite human) Kailyn that he mimicked her tumbling skills and whipped out a set of skills of his own. Watch as he hilariously tumbles all over the room like a total pro!

Crazy (Amazing) Cat People of the World Unite at the Greatest Event Ever - Cat Con

ICYMI, Cat Con happened in Los Angeles this past weekend, and cat-lovers from all over came together to celebrate our favorite aloof/stubborn/lovely friends. The two-day event sponsored by Hill's Science Diet and Petco brought out celebrities like Lil Bub and Pudge, included a whole slew of vendors selling every cat-related item you and your kitty could ever desire, and featured a bunch of adoptable cats to play with and hopefully take home. There were even additional events coinciding with the event to maximize your kitty-related fun, like PetSmart's takeover of the Ace Hotel. The hotel was outfitted with cat-themed amenities for cat-lovers to enjoy.

Look through to see some of the amazingness that went down in LA this weekend, and make sure you make it to the event next year - because if you're a cat-lover who doesn't go to Cat Con, then what are you really doing with your life?

13 Things You Didn't Know About Patrón Tequilas

If you're a fan of tequila, we bet you've had more than one margarita made with Patrón - or perhaps you're more hard core and have done a shot or two.

It's simply impossible to walk into a restaurant or bar and not see at least one square bottle with the brand's name on the shelves. But even though it's totally ubiquitous, we realized we didn't know much about the company and found ourselves wondering about the story behind it. Did you know, for example, that the original distiller is still with the company? Or that it owns Pyrat rums? Scroll ahead for more interesting facts about your favorite tequila. Once you're done, learn the story behind Bacardi.

  1. Patrón was founded in 1989 by John Paul DeJoria and Martin Crowley in Jalisco, Mexico.
  2. The brand's name means big boss.
  3. The original tequila was made of 100 percent Weber blue agave using the tahona process, where agave fibers are slowly crushed by a large volcanic stone wheel, and then the juice, fermented and distilled with the fiber.
  4. Francisco Alcaraz, the brand's master distiller, has been with the brand from the beginning.
  5. Nowadays, jimadores (agave farmers) still use coa knives (which resemble a shovel) to cut open the agave plant and remove the piña, the heart of the plant.
  6. According to Patrón, it takes 60 hands to create its tequilas from beginning to end.
  7. The Patrón bottle is made of mostly recycled glass in Mexico. The corks, however, are made in Portugal.
  8. The bee is Patrón's symbol because of their strong attraction to the blue agave plant.
  9. The company's first tequilas were Silver and Añejo, with Reposado and XO Cafe coming in 1992.
  10. Other varieties of Patrón include XO Cafe Incendio (made with chili peppers), Citrónge, Citrónge Lime, Citrónge Mango, Gran Patrón Platinum, Gran Patrón Burdeos, Gran Patrón Piedra, and Roca Patrón, which uses the original tequila-making process the brand used when it first launched.
  11. Patrón also owns Pyrat rum and Ultimat vodka.
  12. Each bottle of real Mexican tequila features a four-digit code called the NOM (Norma Oficial Mexicana), which indicates the distillery in which it was made. Patrón's is 1492; that's why you can find that number on every bottle.
  13. The brand's Hacienda Patrón in Jalisco is environmentally friendly using recycled water in its gardens and composting unused agave.

Why I Became an American Citizen

That's my flag up there, as of June 15, 2012. That's the day I stood in a government building in New York City filled with people from basically every corner of the world, proudly swearing my allegiance to the United States of America as a brand-new citizen.

But the stars and stripes is not my only flag. I was born and grew up in Lima, Peru. I came to the US to attend college with a student visa and a scholarship when I was 17 and never left. After falling in love with this country (and an American guy), I got to stay, legally, without any issues. I know it's not that easy for everyone, that people fight hard to stay. As a recent immigrant, I know the idea of coming to the US in search of the American dream is not just an idea, it's reality. Even though I think this country, just like my birth one, has its flaws, I deeply love it and know many of the opportunities I've gotten in life could only have been given to me here.

Anyone who knows that I was born in Peru - that's everyone I know, because I volunteer this information without skipping a beat - asks me at some point if I ever think of "going back home." My answer: this is home. I've spent almost half of my life in New York, and as much as I miss my family and friends and speaking Spanish every day, I grew into an adult here, and I don't really know how to live in Peru anymore. The bottom line is I was a kid when I left, and now I'm a totally different person with goals and attitudes that were shaped by living in the US.

For me, becoming a resident was a given. My husband is American and our lives were here, so there was no question about staying. Aside from the process being nerve-racking, it was fairly easy for me to get a green card. I was lucky, and I know that. There were tons of forms and a huge file of evidence to show the relationship with my husband and our marriage were legitimate, but that was really it. The green card came in the mail three months after our immigration interview, and I held on to it for three years. The day that I was allowed to file for my citizenship - after three years if you get your green card through marriage; five if you did for other reasons - I did.

Having spent my young-adult years here, acquiring a New York accent, celebrating Fourth of July, and paying taxes, I decided that I wanted to be an official citizen. I would have been allowed to live in the US forever with a green card and as a legal resident, but I felt American as much as I felt Peruvian. For me, having a naturalization certificate said I chose to be part of this country as much as I chose to be part of Peru.

I want to be clear: I love Peru. I didn't leave the country because I didn't want to be there, but because the US was giving me a chance that I couldn't pass up. I am proud to represent Peruvians in the US. When I accomplish something, I want people to know that I'm both Peruvian and American, not one in spite of the other. Both countries made me who I am, not just one of them.

You're entitled to think otherwise, but in my mind, I'm the definition of what it is to be an American. I'm an immigrant with a complicated background and a wish to honor what this country gave me by being a standout citizen and fighting to make this an even greater place than it already is. My American passport doesn't make me any less Peruvian, and my Peruvian passport doesn't make me any less American. I'm both and unique, and that's what this country is all about.

Why Jaime Camil Has No Idea What's in Store For His Jane the Virgin Character, Rogelio

Whether you recognize him from your favorite telenovelas or his always-hilarious role as Rogelio de la Vega on The CW's Jane the Virgin, chances are you've definitely encountered Jaime Camil's work - and loved it.

The Mexican-born actor, who is steadfastly growing his portfolio to exciting new heights in the US, recently packed his bags for New York City, where he's making history as Billy Flynn on Broadway's Chicago during his TV hiatus.

POPSUGAR Latina recently caught up with Jaime about it all at Breyers's 150th birthday party (because what's better on a scorching Summer day than a delicious scoop of ice cream?), and he did not hold back about anything, from the rigorous transition back to the live stage to the Jane the Virgin creator's tight grasp on the show's shocking plot lines to even what it was like to attend his pal Eva Longoria's gorgeous wedding in his native country. Read on to see exactly what he had to say, and then check out the best Rogelio moments - in GIFs.

Jennifer Lopez Wears the Only Sunglasses You Need to Look Like a Star This Summer

Jennifer Lopez is spending as much of the Summer as she can by the pool in Las Vegas, sitting pretty in sexy swimsuits and showing off her killer body. A recent Instagram snap exemplifies one of her relaxed days in the desert city, but after first gawking at her stunning swimsuit and making a mental note to unearth her antiaging secret, we noticed something familiar: her cat-eyed sunglasses.

J Lo sported the exact same Fendi crystal-embellished style a few days before this photo was taken while hosting a party at The Cromwell with boyfriend Casper Smart - just in a different color - and then again weeks later while attending an event in New York City (in a totally affordable dress). The actress and singer's favorite statement sunglasses are made for a star, featuring reflective lenses and a classic silhouette made fun by the Swarovski crystals set on the tips. Scroll ahead to see more photos of J Lo sporting the accessory and find links to buy the exact pair. Have a tight budget this Summer? We also have a list of pairs you can get on the cheap.

Jessica Alba's Outfit Looks Pretty Darn Simple - Until You Take a Look at the Details

Jessica Alba took inspiration from the '80s to put together her most recent red carpet look. To attend the premiere of Seoul Searching, a comedy based in South Korea and set in that decade, Jessica stepped out wearing a simple, long-sleeved, supershort Balmain dress, but once you look closely at all the details and accessories she added into the outfit, you'll see there's nothing straightforward about it.

Featuring triangle earrings by Octavia Elizabeth Jewelry, Jen Atkin x Chloe + Isabel gold pins on her hair, and a chunky square belt, Jessica was feeling geometric shapes, even adding a studded black bag and shoes to the look, and throwback vibes with red lipstick and tight waves. She simply looked stunning as she made her way down the red carpet with husband Cash Warren. Scroll ahead to check out close-ups of the details in her outfit, then see her best street style this year.

4 Reasons Daenerys Should Be Called the Breaker of Hearts Instead of the Breaker of Chains

The Night's King might technically be known as the coldest dude on Game of Thrones, but Daenerys could easily give him a run for his money. The Mother of Dragons has no qualms about breaking the hearts of her various suitors, because when you're a queen dead set on brutally overthrowing a foreign kingdom's existing rulers and women only earn 78 cents to every Gold Dragon, you don't have a lot of time to worry about things like feelings. Despite the tragic death of her husband, Khal Drogo, in season one, and her botched betrothal to Hizdahr zo Loraq in season five, she's had a very Samantha Jones approach to her love life. Keep reading to see every guy who's been lucky enough to have his heart broken by Dany, and then check out where she stands after the sixth season finale.
