Naloxone nasal spray could make it easier to save lives, but too pricey for those who need it

Narcan naloxone nasal spray

Health Canada has approved a nasal-spray form of the potentially life-saving drug naloxone, but at $145 for two single-use doses, people on the front lines of harm reduction say those who need it, can't afford it. They want Quebec's health minister to act.

Starbucks Offers Free Pumpkin Spice Whipped Cream - but Is It Any Good?

To celebrate the 13th birthday of the pumpkin spice latte, Starbucks is offering pumpkin spice whipped cream on any PSL drink this weekend only. You can get the limited-edition whipped cream on a hot, iced, or Frappuccino pumpkin spice latte, and the best part is there's no extra charge. Just ask your barista if your location is carrying the orange-hued whipped topping and your Fall beverage of choice will get an extra touch of pumpkin spice. Curious to know how it tastes before you place your order? Here's what our resident pumpkin spice experts thought.

  • "This makes this drink exceptional - not sweet! Would request in regular coffee."
  • "Subtle, light taste, and really good balance."
  • "Sweet but not too sweet. Very unique flavor.

We were pleasantly surprised that the whip is simply infused with spices and not sweetened too much, and the dash of cinnamon on top gives it an additional pop of flavor. With so much competition this season with pumpkin spice lattes offered essentially everywhere, Starbucks's whipped cream truly stands out. If only Starbucks carried this year-round, we'd get it on regular coffee, chai lattes, and gingerbread lattes. If you're unashamedly addicted to PSLs, be sure to give this a try while it lasts.

Ashton Kutcher Is Not Happy With Laura Prepon For Hiding Her Engagement From Him: "I'm So Pissed"

Ashton Kutcher stopped by Live With Kelly on Friday morning to help guest host, but his appearance quickly turned into a mini That '70s Show reunion when Laura Prepon joined him on stage. After Ashton went on a hilarious rant about how upset he was that he found out about Laura's surprise engagement to Ben Foster on the news instead of from the actress herself, the Orange Is the New Black star came out to face him. "It's not just a random engagement, it's an engagement to another friend of mine!" Ashton said at the start of the show. "So I'm double upset that neither of them told me and I got off the plane in New York and was like, 'What?!' They're all my friends and everybody is hooking up and it's weird!" When Laura did come out to give Ashton a big hug, he immediately said with a smile, "I'm so pissed off at you." Watch the whole thing above.

Johnny is known by most of you beauty junkies as one-half of Ramirez-Tran Salon (his partner is Anh Co Tran). Sofia Reyes Looked Like an Angel During Her "Solo Yo" Performance at the Latin AMAs

When it comes to award show performances, Sofia Reyes just pulled off arguably the hardest one: standing solo at the mic.

The 21-year-old Mexican pop star, who sings in both English and Spanish, wowed the Latin American Music Awards crowd with a beautiful live rendition of her duet with Prince Royce, "Solo Yo." Dressed like an angel in a stunning white gown with a delicate cape that flowed in the faux wind, Sofia basically transported us to heaven during her chill-inducing time on stage. Press play above to watch her belt out some seriously impressive vocals, then listen to her new song, "Louder."

This Baby Is Trying to Say Coffee - but Drops Some F-Bombs Instead

This adorable little girl might learn to love coffee, but she's having some major difficulties with it right now.

When Ciara Thompson was trying to teach her baby girl how to say the word "coffee," Chloe tried her best to repeat after her mom but was completely missing it. Instead, her mom recorded Chloe attempting to pronounce the simple word but her version is a bit more mature. "When innocent morning vocabulary gets vulgar... it may be time to switch beverages!" Ciara wrote on Facebook. "No f-bombs this early baby girl ... because I'm a decent mother."

After Chloe completely (and inappropriately!) butchered the word for the fourth time, Ciara's exasperated response of "Oh Jesus," is one that every parent can relate to!

Not Only Is the Enchanted Sequel Happening, It Sounds Fantastic

Shout it from the rooftops: the Enchanted sequel is coming together in a major way! The 2007 original introduced Giselle, a textbook princess who find herself thrust into the real world, away from the singing birds of her home, the cartoon kingdom of Andalasia. The second film, titled Disenchanted, has been in the works since 2010, but now there's a script (written by David Stem and David Weiss), a director, and a tentative date to being shooting. Here's everything we know so far; check back for more later!

The Cast

According to The Hollywood Reporter, star Amy Adams is "expected" to return. No word yet on James Marsden, Patrick Dempsey, or Susan Sarandon.

The Plot

The new film will be set a decade after the events of the original. Giselle, now questioning her "happily ever after," accidentally triggers a series of events that affect both the real world and the animated residents of Adalasia.

The Director

Adam Shankman, known for Hairspray (awesome) and Rock of Ages (not as awesome), is in negotiations to direct the sequel.

The Release Date

The movie will (hopefully) begin shooting in Summer 2017, and Disney is aiming for a 2018 release. Stay tuned for an exact date!

Disneyland’s Beloved Halloween Apple Is Coming Back This Month

Just when we thought the list of Halloween foods at Disneyland couldn't be any more appealing, the theme park announced it's bringing back one of its long-time favorite treats: the Dirt & Worms candy apple, coated in gummy worms and crushed Oreos. All you need to do is dip a Granny Smith apple in caramel before coating it in milk chocolate. Then, add gummy worms and crushed Oreos (or chocolate cookies) to the apple and drizzle dark and white chocolate on top. The technique can be seen on this DIY Mickey Mouse pumpkin candy apple video.

18 American Horror Story Monsters to Channel This Halloween

There's plenty of messed-up sh*t on American Horror Story, so much so that the amount of shocking moments is quickly approaching astronomical numbers. Most of the credit, of course, goes to the strange monsters that have cropped up from season to season, from the Rubber Man in season one to the Addiction Demon in last year's Hotel. While these creatures and villains may give you nightmares, they're actually perfect fodder for a truly horrifying Halloween costume. Of course, we're hoping American Horror Story's sixth season has even more ideas in store, but in the meantime, let's look to the past for inspiration.

Eva Longoria on Marriage: "Our Wedding Didn't Change Our Relationship"

Married life is relatively easy for Eva Longoria. The actress and director recently caught up with People at an exclusive event for her Eva Longoria Home collection at JCPenney, and beyond her excitement for the new bedding and bath editions of her line, she had a few wonderful things to say about her husband, José Antonio Bastón.

"People ask us how it is being married now, but we were always married in our hearts and our souls," she said. "So the wedding was just a beautiful party to celebrate with everyone, but marriage-wise we just are still floating from three years of being together . . . Our wedding didn't change our relationship."

This isn't the first time Eva, who is directing an upcoming (and totally exciting) episode of Jane the Virgin, has gushed about her romantic life. She previously recounted the moment she first laid eyes on Pepe, telling People: "He was the most handsome man I'd ever seen. He was so charismatic, charming, sweet and funny. I thought, Who is this guy?!" How sweet!

Thank You, Remus Lupin, For Being the Best Character in Harry Potter

Dear Remus Lupin,

There's always plenty of discussion about which Harry Potter character is the best, and names like Sirius Black and Hermione Granger usually top the list of candidates . . . but many of us believe the title belongs to you. From your first entrance into JK Rowling's magical world to your tragic, tear-jerking exit, you provided both Harry and us, the readers, with a wonderful role model. Your humble nature, relatable flaws, honest advice, genuine concern for those around you, and willingness to learn from mistakes are only the start of a very long list of reasons why we love you.

It goes without saying that you were the best Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher that Harry had at Hogwarts, but you taught him so much more than how to banish dementors and boggarts. Because of your influence in his life, Harry also learned how to face fear itself. You showed him the value of seeing past appearances, and giving people second chances. You showed him that flaws, even those that have social implications, do not have to define your life - though we all have monstrous qualities within us, we don't have to become monsters.

Though we all have monstrous qualities within us, we don't have to become monsters.

You loved Harry and expected nothing from him in return; you simply wanted him to succeed, and to live the full, happy life that his parents were robbed of. In helping fight for the lives of others, you lost your own . . . but even in death, you exuded selfless grace. Little Teddy might not have known his father, but there's no doubt that he was proud to be your son.

You felt too poor, old, and dangerous to be worthy of love, and your struggle spoke to the many readers who carry our own scars. And in your most shameful moment, fleeing your wife and unborn child in a desperate hope that they would be better off without you, you taught us all a lesson in humility by learning one yourself. You saw the error of your ways, apologized, and made it right; not many adults in the Harry Potter series exhibited such humility, let alone adults who were proved wrong by a teenager.

Your struggle with werewolfism has become a symbol of hope for those with HIV/AIDs, as well as for those with widely misunderstood conditions like mental illness. By rising above those who shunned you for reasons out of your control, building a happy life for yourself, and helping others despite their mistreatment of you, you've provided an example for anybody who has felt alienated and alone.

We could go on forever about why you inspire us, but it all boils down to this: despite having all the odds stacked against you, you used hard work, a gentle spirit, and a willingness to learn from your own failings as tools to emerge happy, and to help others along the way. We love you, Remus Lupin. Thank you for being the best example we could have asked for.

Sincerely,
The Harry Potter fandom

PS: You keep chocolate in your briefcase. What's not to love?

Scientific Study Reveals 5 Reasons Moms Are More Stressed Than Dads, as If We Even Needed 1

A new study reveals that moms are more stressed out about parenting than dads?! Thank you, lead researcher Captain Obvious for whatever longitudinal experimentation went into drumming up that conclusion.

We'd like to imagine that the person who performed this latest parenting study - which was just published in the American Sociological Review - had a husband at home who kept saying, "Prove it!" when she'd complain about doing more work. But it's more likely that she reviewed timed diaries of more than 1,200 parents for the rest of us ladies . . . so that we had something to print off, tape to the refrigerator door, and point to whenever things got rough.

So, if you've been long telling your partner that you have it harder, and if by some tragic fluke, he doesn't believe you, you now have scientific evidence to back your claims. Evidence that says:

1. Moms actually have less fun being a parent.

"The good news from our study is that parents generally enjoy being with their kids," University of Minnesota researcher Ann Meier, who led the research, said. "But the bad news is that mothers are more stressed and enjoy it less than fathers." (Is he still stumped as to why? Read on . . . )

2. Moms perform worse parenting tasks. Categorically.

Scientific research quantitatively confirms that women do less of the desirable parenting tasks: "Mothers are doing different things with their children than fathers are, things that we know aren't as enjoyable," Cornell professor and co-author Kelly Musick said. "Playing with their kids is a particularly enjoyable experience for parents. And dads are doing more play as a share of the total amount of time they spend with their kids."

As for moms, "They're going to play when they have time to play, but they're going to make sure they have everything else covered," she said. "Dinner is made, the kids are bathed, laundry is folded. They do play with their kids, but when you take account of all the things they're doing, it's just a smaller share of their time."

3. A mom's role as the primary caregiver hasn't evolved with her increased presence in the workforce.

On the other hand, because of historical precedence, fathers experience less - as researchers dub it - "role strain." That's a nice, scholarly way of saying "mommy guilt."

4. Time spent away from kids is less restorative for moms. (Because it involves kids.)

"Mothers are more likely than fathers to be called on by kids "around the clock," Meier said. "Fathers' sleep and downtime are less likely than mothers' to be interrupted by kids. This is part of the reason fathers are less tired than mothers when parenting."

5. Moms multi-task, and multi-tasking is empirically the worst.

According to this research, our own brains are working against us - preventing us from relaxing or focusing - because we are performing more "sentient activities" behind the scenes. We're ticking off things in our mental to-do list, organizing events, and generally handling more tasks at once because we're more often alone with kids than dads are.

There you have it: all things you already know. You might as well go ahead and add "scientist" to your résumé and start conducting your own experiments. Oh, wait, we just outlined five reasons why that does not sound like a good use of your time. Let's all stick with wine instead.

This Halloween Makeup Tutorial Is Perfect For Women Who Want to Look Terrifyingly Glam

With the highly popular show Scream Queens taking place in a hospital in its second season, it seems fitting that one beauty blogger is taking the traditional sexy nurse Halloween costume and giving it a gruesome spin. On YouTube, Shaaanxo recently shared a sexy-meets-scary nurse makeup tutorial complete with creepy blood splatter.

The look is achieved by first applying a full face of glamorous makeup. Think full-coverage foundation, metallic eye shadow, thick winged liner, some highlighter, and red lipstick. (What's great about this part of the tutorial is that it's useful as a wearable makeup look for a sexy night out or special occasion.) The next step, however, is what brings the look into Halloween.

To get that aforementioned splatter, she uses Colour Pop's Creme Gel Colour in Best O and gently dabs it around her face and neck with a stippling sponge. She then repeats the same process with special effects scab blood and stage blood.

Though the finished result is decidedly freaky, the entire look is actually pretty easy to replicate. Check out the full tutorial above.

The Workout That Helped This Woman Lose 230 Pounds

Weight-loss success happens when you truly love to live a healthy lifestyle, as Cynthia Ortega found out. Here, she tells Zumba's lifestyle blog, Zlife, about her struggles with weight and how she finally found what works - and lost 230 pounds!

Cynthia: Before

Born and raised in Houston, Cynthia Ortega used to look in the mirror and hate what she saw. "I felt horrible and sad," she says. "I used to dread going to restaurants with my husband because I knew I wouldn't fit in the seat." Often smiling on the outside, deep down inside, she wasn't happy. She was trapped in her own body, desperately wanting to be someone else. Even her husband, who was very supportive, felt helpless.

Heavy mostly her whole life, she had never exercised and had many failed attempts with crash diets. One day, while standing in line to order pizza with her husband, a little girl pointed at Cynthia and said to her mom, "Look mom, that's a big lady!" Everyone heard it and Cynthia was mortified. In 2009, she was hospitalized with the swine flu and couldn't even fit through the MRI machine. She went into an induced coma and had to learn to walk and eat again. Due to her weight, she also discovered she had sleep apnea and diabetes.

Cynthia: Before

At a crossroads in her life, it finally clicked for Cynthia that she had to get healthy for herself and her young son who looked up to his mom and needed a positive influence. In 2013, she stumbled across a gym near her home and peeked in to see people taking a Zumba class. "It just looked like a lot of fun and something I could do." She and her friend signed up and, within one month of taking two classes per week, she lost 30 pounds! And that was just the beginning of her transformation.

Cynthia: After

Now 230 pounds lighter, she takes Zumba classes 12 times per week and puts more thought into her diet. She even started a YouTube page to chronicle her weight loss, called "BestFriendFitness" in the hopes of inspiring others out there to get healthy.

At 29 years old and married for eight years, Cynthia is inspiring her husband and family members to be healthy and eat foods in moderation. "Now, when my husband takes me out to a restaurant, I don't have to care about the chairs and if I'll fit in them. I love taking selfies and when I look in the mirror I feel great." She recently went back to the doctor for some tests and stayed four extra days to find out that all her health issues had disappeared and her heart rate was that of a fit person's!

Cynthia: After

So what is Cynthia's advice to others who are suffering from weight issues? "Find what works for you and something you're passionate about. You have to be persistent. You can't expect results from one day to the next. Zumba Fitness is challenging for me. My friends think I make it look easy, but I get out of breath . . . sore . . . tired. It's something that I truly love."

In case you needed another reason to love Adele, this video from her concert in Toronto will make your heart explode.

Although the talented performer is known to take selfies during her concerts, this adorable moment between Adele, baby Jackson, and his two dads might be the sweetest yet. After inviting Jon (who was wearing Jackson) and Steve on stage, Adele greeted each with a big hug - and then handed over her microphone to let the adorable baby express himself. After he said his peace to the audience, she offered to snap a selfie with the family before apologizing to Jackson for suffocating him in her boobs during another hug.

This lucky little one didn't seem to mind, and she also signed his orange noise-canceling headphones as a reminder of the night he shared a microphone with Adele.

What Happens in The Walking Dead Comic Books After That Major Death

Negan has arrived, and we're already wishing he would go away. After several months of The Walking Dead fans freaking out about who the new villain would kill, April's season finale ended on a big cliffhanger. While we can only speculate as to who he murders with Lucille, we do know how the rest of Negan's storyline plays out in the comic book series. The Walking Dead TV series has veered from canon before, so we can't assume any of this will really go down on the show. Then again, we won't get new episodes of the series until Oct. 23, so we may as well read up.

At this point, you have to know that in the comic books, it's Glenn who Negan mercilessly beats to death with Lucille. So after all that ugliness, Negan and a group of the Saviors head to the Alexandria safe zone to take a bunch of stuff from Rick's people. Carl ends up hiding in the truck with Negan's men on the way back, and when he's found out, Carl uses an assualt rifle to kill a bunch of the Saviors. Rather than killing him, Negan takes an interest in Carl. He shows Carl around his compound, the Sanctuary, makes a stop to torment one of his many wives, and forces Carl to remove the bandage from his eye socket. Negan even lets Carl hold Lucille while he burns the face of a man whom his "wife" slept with.

Days later, Negan goes by Alexandria and is approached by Spencer Monroe when Rick is gone. Spencer tells him that Rick is a bad leader, and that he (Spencer) should be in charge. Negan kills him on the spot for his cowardice - RIP Spencer. Negan and Rick butt heads one last time before he leaves Alexandria, and on his way back to his compound, Negan is attacked by Rick and his crew. Negan basically laughs in his face and Rick realizes that he's surrounded by Negan's army. There's a scuffle but Negan ends up back at the Sanctuary to prepare for "All Out War." (This is a big deal in the comics.)

Rick is actually the one who initiates a fight with Negan and his men. He tells Negan to clear the space of women and children, and when Negan refuses, Rick and his men open fire. Rick's army takes out a portion of the walls, allowing zombies to pour in and flood the courtyard. In the heat of battle, Negan catches one of his men about to rape a woman from Rick's side. Negan stabs him and apologizes to the woman. Despite having several wives, Negan does not approve of sexual violence. Part One of the war ends with Negan's men bombing Alexandria with grenades.

The next day, Negan comes up with a plan to cover Lucille and all of his men's weapons in zombie guts. That way, whoever they hit will be instantly infected. They attack Rick's colony, and Rick ends up getting shot with an arrow. Negan and his men temporarily retreat, and when they go to take over Rick's people, Negan is shocked to see that Rick is still alive. Rick manages to convince him that they shouldn't be fighting; they should be pooling their resources to fight the zombies - then he slashes Negan's throat. Don't freak out; Negan doesn't die.

Two years later, Carl goes to the basement in an unknown house and talks to a shadowy figure about a girl who showed him her boobs. (I'm not making this up.) The man asks Carl if he still wants to kill him, and Carl says, "Yes, Negan. You know I do." He's been living in the basement for two years! He and Rick have some loaded discussions about mercy and why Rick is really keeping Negan alive. Negan ends up escaping with a character named Brandon Rose. He's still alive in the comics, but he's missing in action.

And there you have it! That's Negan's storyline as far as we know. Let's see how closely the show sticks to the books next season.

Apple's New Commercial With Mary J. Blige and Hillary Clinton Is Pretty Awkward

When Apple releases new ads, they are usually inspiring or beautiful, touching videos. That's not the case in the latest ad for an Apple Music show with Mary J. Blige and Hillary Clinton. It's a little awkward to watch, and the internet agrees.

The first ad, which was tweeted out by Apple Music on Sept. 26, is to promote a new show coming to Apple Music on Sept. 30 called The 411 With Mary J. Blige. The video shows Blige singing to Clinton about police brutality and race. The snippet of the song is powerful, with lines like "It ain't no secret, no secret my friend you can get killed for living in your American skin." However, in the video, Blige grabs Clinton's hand as she sings, and it feels odd to see it happen out of context of the interview. Watch it below.

Do you feel weird? Awkward? You're not the only one, and the rest of the internet had plenty to say about it.

The second ad is a little better, as it shows Blige asking Clinton some poignant questions. Watch it for yourself below.

In any case, we can all find out more about what actually happens in the interview on Sept. 30 - if you have an Apple Music subscription.
