This New Rumor Suggests Apple Is Working on Smart Glasses
According to a new report from Bloomberg, Apple is reportedly working on augmented reality (AR) glasses - similar to Google Glass. The smart glasses could arrive as early as 2018.
The smart glasses would "connect wirelessly to iPhones" and, like Google Glass, show you information on the lens and possibly incorporate augmented reality. The source tells Bloomberg that Apple has placed an order for "near-eye displays." Another source added that if this testing is successful, the smart glasses could arrive in 2018.
Apple CEO Tim Cook has previously expressed the company's interest in augmented reality. "We are high on AR for the long run," Cook told analysts in a conference call in July. The company also has several patents for AR and smart glasses that could indicate this is Apple's next big product.
It's not clear if Apple would succeed in the smart glasses space, considering Google Glass received intense criticism and was ultimately shelved in January 2015.

10 Signs Your Child May Have Asperger's Syndrome
Asperger's syndrome is a neurological disorder in the family of autism spectrum disorders. Because every child exhibits a different set of symptoms, there is no precise checklist of behaviors that must all be present for a diagnosis. Instead, there are many behaviors that may be signs of Asperger's syndrome. Here we've rounded up 10 of the common behaviors to watch for, as shared by moms whose kids have the condition.
1. Fixation on One Activity
Many children with Asperger's syndrome are preoccupied with a single or a few interests and focus on them for hours on end. As Circle of Moms member Karen R. shares: "The most common report from every parent I know . . . is that their kid fixated on something (their cars, their blue toys, their books) and played or attended [to] that thing for an outrageously long time."
2. "Little Professor" Speech
"Typically a child with Asperger's sounds like a little professor," shares one Circle of Moms member, Sheila D. "They tend to have advanced verbal skills, but due to the autism aspect of the syndrome they might seem fixated on a topic that they want to talk about all the time." Children with Asperger's syndrome may also speak more formally than usual for their age or prefer talking to adults.
3. Difficulty Reading Social Cues
Social difficulties are another key sign of Asperger's syndrome. Reading body language may be hard, as well as taking turns or holding a conversation. As Eliana F. shares: "Group work at school is also hard for him, as he does not understand waiting his turn or accepting others point of view." Similarly, Colleen notes: "My son is very social, but he doesn't engage in two way conversations. He just talks and talks." As a result of their social difficulties, children with Asperger's syndrome may seem isolated from their peers.
4. Need For Routine
"Structure plays a big part in our lives now," shares Wendy B. Like many children with Asperger's syndrome, Wendy's granddaughter needs routines. "Otherwise it is very confusing for her. So shower is at 8:30 p.m. Bedtime is at 9:30 p.m. Breakfast at 8:30 a.m., lunch at 12, supper at 6. You get the message, very structured. If I want to take her shopping, I start telling her a few days ahead - that way, it doesn't upset her, but we still follow the same routine."
5. Emotional Meltdowns
"My boy tends to have meltdowns when he gets overwhelmed," shares Circle of Moms member Ylice. She's not alone: many children with Asperger's syndrome can't handle routines or plans going awry. Amanda B. describes it as an "inability to control emotions when things are 'out of order.'"
6. Lack of Empathy
Another sign of Asperger's syndrome is a seeming lack of empathy for others. Jennifer B. explains that her daughter "has no clue that people around here have feelings or wants and needs. She's kinda like in her own little bubble as far as that goes. She can be totally aloof, in the clouds."
7. Can't Understand Speech Subtleties
Some people with Asperger's syndrom have a hard time understanding speech tone, pitch, and accent. As Alice D. explains, they may take words very literally and be unable to understand sarcasm or jokes: "He doesn't get jokes and things like that - he can't tell if someone is kidding or if they are being serious."
8. Unusual Body Language
Other signs of Asperger's syndrome include unusual facial expressions or postures, and either staring a lot at others or avoiding eye contact altogether. Dana W. relays of her brother with Asperger's syndrome: "He would never ever look people in the eyes."
9. Delayed Motor Development
From handwriting to riding a bike, poor or delayed motor skills of many kinds could be a sign of Asperger's syndrome. As Kim F. shares of her son, who was diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome in the second grade, "He was not athletic and had poor motor skills. Couldn't skip, gallop etc."
10. Sensory Sensitivities
Many children with Asperger's syndrome have heightened sensory sensitivity. As a result, they can be easily overstimulated by certain sensations, whether it's strong lights, loud noises, or textures. Jennifer B. notes of her daughter: "Even now she doesn't like wearing some fabrics because of the way they feel. There are some sensations that she just does not like! Certain sounds, touches, etc."
If you think your child may have Asperger's syndrome, many readers say that the best path is to get an expert's evaluation as soon as possible. And don't be discouraged! As Sheila D. wisely advises: "It is typical to be scared and nervous, but a diagnosis of Asperger's is not the end of the road for your child. It is a tool that will help you to help your child navigate a very different path than his 'neurotypical' peers. Find a local support group. Get informed, and be the best mom you can be."

What Happens to Rick in The Walking Dead Comics?
We've seen Rick go to some pretty dark places on The Walking Dead, but it's safe to say he's at his lowest point in season seven. He's just watched two of his men be mercilessly beaten to death and now his people are basically enslaved by the murderer. His leadership has failed them and he's just short of catatonic. It's hard to imagine how he'll pull himself - and his people - out of the darkness. Those who have read the comic books already know how the story goes, but there's no guarantee that the show's writers will follow the path laid out. In fact, the series has already veered in a number of ways. Comic Book Rick is quite different than TV Rick, but there's a chance that there will be parallels in their stories. Just in case, here's what happens next for Rick in the books!
Glenn's death is still one of the most heartbreaking moments in the comics, and Rick is deeply affected by it. Maggie blames him for not standing up to Negan, and when the group returns to the Hilltop with Glenn's body, Rick lashes out at Gregory (the Hilltop's leader, who is still alive in the books) for withholding information. Gregory says they didn't even think Negan was real because no one had seen him; they assumed he was a figure the Saviors made up to intimidate them. Maggie ends up staying at the Hilltop with Sophia (also still alive in the books) while Rick promises her that he'll make Negan pay.
Rick submits to Negan's rule, privately telling Andrea (still alive, and also Rick's girlfriend) that they will secretly stock up on resources and wait until the time is right to fight back. The same day, Carl goes missing. Rick panics and sets out to the Saviors' compound, but runs into Negan, returning stowaway Carl. Though Carl is unharmed, the way Negan teases Rick about hurting Carl further fuels Rick's hatred for Negan.
The Walking Dead's Josh McDermitt Teases How Eugene Will Go On After the "Devastating" Deaths
Paul, a character in the comics but not on the show, takes Rick to meet Ezekiel, the leader of the Kingdom. The two form an alliance together with Negan's right-hand man Dwight. Dwight betrays Negan because Negan has taken Dwight's wife as his own and melted his face with an iron for still talking to her. Rick assembles a small army of fighters from Alexandria, Hilltop, and the Kingdom. They lay low until Negan comes for his supplies, then they strike. The initial attack isn't a success, but it sets the stage for a storyline known as "All Out War."
Brutal battles ensue between the Saviors and Rick's crew. Negan's plan to infect Rick's army with virus-laced arrows is a good one, but thanks to Dwight, Rick isn't affected and he survives. Rick wins the war by slitting Negan's throat, but he chooses to keep Negan alive. Rick stops Carl before he can shoot Negan but leaves him to rot in jail.
There's a big two-year time jump after the war, and Rick has rebuilt Alexandria. He's no longer as physically active, since Negan broke his leg during the war. He frequently visits the Hilltop community, where Maggie is the leader. A new enemy emerges: The Whisperers. After the Whisperers' leader, Alpha, decapitates members of Rick's army (including Ezekiel), Rick's people are forced back into battle.
Though he's still the same person, Rick never mentally recovers from Glenn's death and the war with Negan. Eventually Negan escapes and brings him Alpha's head, asking for trust. Rick grants him sanctuary in an outpost, but the two never completely bury the hatchet. He does stay with Andrea through the years, and eventually Carl starts calling her "Mom."

Mom Inspires Her Daughter Every Day With Empowering Lunchtime Napkin Art
Rhode Island mom Meaghan Elderkin has been drawing fun photos on her daughter Holden's lunch napkins since she started preschool, but following the election, she's been sending her daughter a different message during lunch. Meaghan is using her drawing skills to send her 9-year-old daughter uplifting quotes, all from female heroes.
"I felt really small and powerless after the results of the election," she told The Huffington Post. "I wanted to remind my daughter (and myself, I guess) that we're still strong and powerful even when we're afraid. A lot of strong women have come before us, and they've had to fight even scarier obstacles."
Although many parents have struggled with talking to their children about the results of the election, Meaghan is finding peace in empowering her daughter through the napkin drawings. She's included quotes from Susan B. Anthony, Malala Yousafzai, and many more heroes that will definitely have you beaming with female pride (and of course, her latest Hillary Clinton quote is one of the best). It's an incredible way to tell her young daughter about how much women have achieved, and Holden "absolutely loves each one."
Scroll through to see some of Meaghan's empowering napkin designs.
The Walking Dead: Maggie Is About to Go Into an Entirely New Direction
With so much sh*t going down on The Walking Dead, it's tempting to look at the comic books as an indicator of what lies ahead. We've already taken peeks at the stories of this season's newest characters, like the new villain Negan and the charismatic King Ezekiel, but there's one mainstay character who really seems to be at a crossroads right now: Maggie Greene. After the devastating loss of her husband, Glenn, poor Maggie seems to have been set adrift. We know from next week's preview that she's not dead - even though that's the story Rick tells Negan when he visits Alexandria - but is instead at Hilltop, recovering. So, where could Maggie's story go from here?
In the comic books, Maggie heads to the Hilltop colony and never leaves. She arrives at the community with Sophia, her adopted daughter. (Remember Sophia? She's Carol's daughter, and on the TV show, she dies while the group takes shelter at Herschel Greene's farm. In the books, Carol is dead and Sophia is still alive.) Once she settles in, Maggie gives birth to and raises her son, who she names Herschel after her late father. In the wake of Glenn's death, Maggie becomes more hardened than ever by the apocalyptic world. She carries a newfound anger and harbors a bit of a grudge towards Rick. She becomes instrumental in uniting Hilltop and Alexandria against the Saviors, and sets herself apart as a new leader.
The new Maggie is much more violent in the comic books, which means she could go that way on the show as well. After Glenn's death, she beats Rick. Once she gets to Hilltop, she punches Gregory, the community's leader, in the face, and later beats Rick up again during an argument. In the wake of the war against the Saviors and Negan's sort-of defeat, the members of the Hilltop community decide that Maggie is more fit to keep things running smoothly. As a leader who is losing his grip, Gregory shows an utter lack of faith and obedience when it comes to Maggie's seizure of power. She eventually calls for his execution, and the group kills him by hanging.
In the most recent issues, Maggie again joins with Alexandria to fight the new and terrifying threat called The Whisperers. Ruled by a ruthless leader called Alpha, The Whisperers are a murderous group disguised as walkers that roams the land, nearly undetectable. Alpha kills humans and mounts their severed heads on stakes, and is actually responsible for the death of King Ezekiel. The last published issue plunges the main characters into the war against this group. When we last see Maggie, Hilltop has caught fire, and she's evacuating with Sophia and Herschel. The fate of the trio is currently unknown.
Here's How Much Green Tea Is Safe to Drink
Between its metabolism-boosting powers and ability to prevent colds, green tea is a miracle in your mug. While there are several reasons to sip it each day, many wonder if one glass alone can provide you with the acclaimed benefits. Before you go to town guzzling, learn if it's possible to have too much of a good thing (the results may surprise you).
If you find yourself drinking a cup or two of green tea a day, you're doing things right! Dr. Zuo Feng Zhang, a cancer epidemiology researcher at UCLA, and the University of Maryland Medical Center recommend two to three teacups (not mugs) a day, which will prove beneficial to your health.
However, drinking up to five cups a day has been shown to decrease risk for stomach cancer. In fact, if you're trying to lose weight and to boost your metabolism, the best results have been seen with drinking seven cups a day (this study, though, has not been tested directly on humans). Additionally, many other medical studies have shown that the more green tea consumed daily the greater the benefits, with 10 cups being the upper limit. If you are sensitive to caffeine, or suffer from insomnia, 10 cups of green tea is probably going to be too much for your system, regardless of the benefits.
There are a few negative consequences to drinking lots and lots of green tea. The tannins found in both green and black tea can decrease absorption of folic acid, an important vitamin that helps decrease birth defects. If you are pregnant or trying to get pregnant, you should definitely limit your green tea consumption to two cups a day, or skip it altogether. Green tea can also interfere with the absorption of iron, too, so it's recommended that you avoid drinking green tea with meals and just drink it between them.

28 Pictures That Prove Zoë Kravitz Had No Choice but to Be Ridiculously Good Looking
It goes without saying that Zoë Kravitz is probably one of the most genetically blessed women in Hollywood - as the only daughter of rocker Lenny Kravitz and actress Lisa Bonet, 27-year-old Zoë not only inherited her parents' good looks, but also their talent (and while she's not technically related to her stepdad, Jason Momoa, Zoë still shares his edgy sense of style and taste in tattoos). She's risen to fame both on screen in films like Mad Max: Fury Road, Dope, and the Divergent series and also showcases her musical prowess on stage with her band, Lolawolf. If that wasn't cool enough, Zoë also surrounds herself with ultracool, high-profile fashion designers and fellow starlets and has dated hot celebrity guys like Penn Badgley, Chris Pine, Drake, and her current beau, singer Twin Shadow.
Lenny and Lisa were married from 1987 to 1993, but despite splitting, they've remained some of the most amicable exes ever. They are regularly spotted on outings around LA and even attended the Met Gala together in 2015 - and of course, they can also be counted on to link up to support Zoë at her concerts and movie premieres. We've rounded up the best photos of Zoë and her parents, just in case you needed further proof that her laid-back, rocker-cool attitude and stunning good looks don't fall far from the tree. Why I Named My Baby After a Superhero
I never planned on naming my baby after a superhero. When I was pregnant with my first son, Avery, my somewhat comic book-obsessed husband subjected me to a few episodes of old X-Men cartoons on Netflix. At the time, we didn't know if we were having a girl or a boy so we were constantly discussing baby names. A character named Jubilee came on the screen and I absolutely fell in love. Jubilee went straight to the top of our list of girl names. Obviously, we gave birth to a baby boy, so Jubilee stayed on our list for next time.
Fast-forward two and a half years - we learned we were pregnant with our second child and the name game started all over again. We still loved Jubilee for a little girl, and I was totally on board with the superhero name route, so we began searching for boy names. No, I wasn't planning on naming my baby Superman or Wolverine (not that there's anything wrong with that) – we were more into alter-ego names like Clark or Logan.
My husband got to Googling and stumbled upon a name that immediately made his eyes light up – a Fantastic Four character from the planet of Zenn-La. The Silver Surfer, also known as Norrin Radd. And, with that, the negotiations began.
I'll admit, I had mixed feelings at first. I loved that the name was unique and had a cool story, but I worried about what others would think. Would they look at me funny and scrunch up their noses when I told them the name? Would he be teased? Would his teachers know how to pronounce it?
As time went on and we got closer to meeting this baby and having to choose a name, I realized that all of my hesitations had to do with other people's opinions, not my own and not my husband's. We were the ones faced with the awesome task of choosing our baby's name.
Thanks to my husband and my Avenger-loving preschooler, I am becoming something of a superhero nerd myself, and, like most people, I wanted my child to have a name that held meaning to us as a family. I liked the sound of Norrin Radd, and he is actually one of the more amazing superheroes in the Marvel Universe. He basically sacrificed himself to save his planet, and he is described as noble, intellectual, and nearly indestructible. How cool is that?
When we left for the hospital, I was 100 percent confident in our choice. During my c-section, my husband announced to me while looking over the drape that it was another little boy. A few minutes later, they placed him on my chest, and I knew exactly who he was meant to be. He was Norrin Radd. With tears in my eyes I said, "Hi Norrin."
When we introduce Norrin to friends and family, most say nothing at all about his name. Still, some do test us: One friend said, "I knew you'd pick something weird," and a family member mentioned having to write it down so she wouldn't forget. My husband's colleague commented about "millennials and their gender-ambiguous names!" Our fellow comic lovers, however, comment on how awesome it is that we named him after a superhero. Choosing your baby's name is very personal and a huge responsibility. I hope Norrin grows up knowing that we chose his name with all the love and honor in the universe.

Are You Cleaning Your Pet's Food Dish Often Enough?
Do you clean your pet's food dishes every day? If you don't already, you should, according to Halo Pets. Think about it: your pet spends a good amount of time licking various parts of their bodies, including their butts and their feet. Those two areas right there harbor a lot of bacteria that is then transferred to their mouths and into their dishes while they eat and drink. We suggest washing food and water dishes and food scoops with warm, soapy water at least once a day.
A few other tips for keeping everything as clean as possible include washing your own hands before and after handling food and food bowls and storing food properly (open canned food should be kept in the refrigerator with a lid for no more than three days, and dry food should be kept in an airtight container).
Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick May Have Gone to Mexico Together, but It's Not What You Think
Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick were spotted relaxing poolside together in Los Cabos, Mexico over the weekend. On Saturday, the two were seen arriving at the airport on a private flight and later kicking back by the pool at their villa, with Kourtney showing off her figure in a printed bikini. While it may not have been a romantic getaway for the pair - Kourtney's Snapchat story showed that her and Scott's three kids were also on the trip - it has set more reconciliation rumors into motion; Kourtney and Scott called off their 10-year romance in July 2015 amid reports that Scott had cheated on her. Despite the split, the two have remained close and committed to co-parenting sons Mason and Reign and daughter Penelope.
Even The Chainsmokers Are Impressed With Sarah Hyland's Dreamy "Closer" Cover
You may know Sarah Hyland as Haley from Modern Family, but allow us to introduce you to Sarah Hyland: singer. She joined Boyce Avenue for a cover of The Chainsmokers' "Closer," taking on Halsey's part in the hit song. Girl can sing! Makes sense, given her musical theater past. Still, the fact that The Chainsmokers gave her a shoutout on Twitter is pretty cool:
Hey @Sarah_Hyland and @boyceavenue you sound awesome! So cool y'all did that

See Natalie Portman and Jackie Kennedy Stand Side by Side in the Same Red Suit
More than anything, we are looking forward to seeing a talented actress like Natalie Portman portray a woman as strong as Jackie Kennedy. The costumes, brought to life by French costume designer Madeline Fontaine, are just the icing on the cake. But Jackie is remembered as a fashion icon for a reason: the first lady's wardrobe was an integral part of her persona.
Tailored suits meant she was sophisticated; pillbox hats meant she was always accessorized, polished, and prepared; and her signature sunglasses meant she could protect herself. It's no wonder she refused to strip out of her iconic pink suit after John F. Kennedy's assassination - that is, until she was ready.
There might be no better leading lady to play Jackie than Natalie, and it's clear the film star's already got the Kennedy look down pat. Just read on to see how uncanny the resemblance is between two women who lived in different times but are equal in style and poise.

These Tweets Hilariously Show What Thanksgiving in a Latino Household Is Like
For most people Thanksgiving is about the turkey, football, and having a quiet and relaxing evening with family. For Latinos, it's much more complicated. It involves uncountable amounts of family (and pretend family) members, uneatable amounts of food that run the gamut from traditional (sure, mashed potatoes) to purely Latin (tamales, coquito, arroz con pollo!), a definite touch of dancing, a little pressure to follow tradition, and lots and lots of gossiping.
And because Latinos are all about banding together and sharing, the Twitter-verse created the hashtags #ThanksgivingWithLatinoFamilies and #ThanksgivingWithHispanics. Keep scrolling to see the best memes and tweets that define what it is like to spend this particular Thursday with your relatives, then check out a few ways that Latinos make Thanksgiving their own.

Ryan Reynolds Gets Roasted by His Bitter Twin Brother in an LOL-Worthy Interview
Ryan Reynolds was named GQ's Man of the Year, and in addition to a smoking-hot cover photo and heartfelt profile, the 40-year-old Deadpool star allowed himself to be interviewed for the magazine by his twin brother, Gordon Reynolds (what, you didn't know Ryan had a twin?). The objectively savage Gordon didn't pull any punches when it came to firing off questions for his brother - including "How many times have you met your children?" and "Why such a c*nt?" - and lobbed subtle yet scathing insults at him, calling Ryan's wife Blake Lively his "beard" and saying, "I'm so bored right now I don't even know if I'm peeing." Watch the video now, which includes a blink-and-you'll-miss-it cameo from another huge Hollywood actor.

Step Up Your Yoga Practice and Master Moving From Crow to Headstand
You're basically a Crow pose master and Headstand is no big deal. So why not put the two together and move from Crow to Tripod Headstand and back to Crow?
- Begin in a Wide Squat. Place your palms firmly on the ground in front of you, spreading your fingers wide.
- Straighten your legs slightly and place your knees as high up onto your triceps as possible, toward your armpits.
- Shift weight forward into your hands, leaning the weight of your knees into the backs of your arms, so your feet float off the floor. Bring your toes together and pull your belly button in toward your spine to give you a sense of lightness.
- After a breath or two, slowly lean forward and lower the top of your head to the floor, coming into Tripod Headstand Prep.
- Keeping equal weight between your head and hands, lift the knees off your triceps and straighten your legs, coming into Tripod Headstand.
- Stay for a breath or two, then lower your knees back down to your triceps. Slowly shift a little bit of weight to the heels of your palms and lift your head off the floor, holding Crow once again. This part is tricky and moving slowly and keeping the abs engaged, feet together, and knees squeezing in is key. Keep practicing - you'll get this!
- Come back to a Wide Squat.
- Repeat this two more times, eventually holding both Crow and Tripod Headstand for five breaths each.

7 Reasons to Microchip Your Pets
About 10 million pets go missing or are stolen each year, according to the American Humane Association. Pet owners' best defense against this is microchipping, which is a simple procedure done at the vet. Both cats and dogs can be easily microchipped for about a $50 fee. Home Again, a prime source for microchipping needs and information, currently has more than six million pets enrolled in its program and boasts that more than one million pets have been returned home because of its services. If those numbers aren't enough evidence that microchipping is a good idea, check out the list of seven more reasons below.
- It hurts your pet very little. Getting microchipped is as simple as getting a vaccination. It probably hurts about as much as it does when we get shots.
- It's a simple procedure. The microchip is about the size of a grain of rice and is inserted into a soft area on the back. Easy and simple.
- It could save your pet's life. If your pet is lost or stolen, having a microchip could be the key to bringing Fido back home. If someone finds and takes your pet in to get scanned, you'll be reunited in no time.
- It's your proof of ownership. If your pet is stolen and ends up getting scanned somewhere, your information will pop up, as long as you've registered the chip with the database. It's a quick way for your stolen pet to be returned to you.
- If you have an outdoor pet, it will put your mind at ease. Some people, myself included, let their animals roam around outside. I recently got my cat microchipped because of that. I used to let him out to wander around while I was at work, and I realized that someone could easily pick my boy up and take him (especially because he's the friendliest cat you'll ever meet), so I got him microchipped. I feel better knowing if he wanders off or if something happens, he can hopefully be brought in and returned to me.
- It's a onetime deal. Once the chip is inserted, it'll stay there and be viable for your pet's lifetime. So that makes it a onetime fee for the insertion. (There's a small yearly membership fee, but if it helps you reunite with your pet, it's all worth it.)
- A collar and tag will only go so far. A collar or tag can easily fall off or be removed. A microchip isn't going anywhere.
For more information on microchipping your pets, go to Home Again or call your local vet.

Expert Says to Eat This to Prevent Holiday Weight Gain
Once Fall weather rolls in, it means having to navigate a season's worth of holidays typically based on one thing - eating. It all starts with pumpkin-flavored baked goodies, moves on to bite-size chocolate morsels, then to an entire day devoted to preparing, cooking, and eating a day's worth of calories in one sitting. Then comes December with crispy latkes and those adorably shaped, irresistible iced sugar cookies and more eating. Then, of course, there's the final holiday devoted to sipping cocktails and Champagne. Before trading in your jeans for some fancy, stretchy yoga leggings, certified dietitian Leslie Langevin, MS, RD, CD of Whole Health Nutrition has five tips to help you enjoy the holidays without expanding your waistline.
1. Save Room For Dessert
A slice of warm apple-coconut crumb pie with ice cream, those signature peanut butter kiss cookies, a classic cup of creamy eggnog - there are so many amazing desserts to look forward to this time of year. If you know this is something you really want eat (who doesn't?!), take a smaller portion of your main meal by using a smaller plate. This way you can save room in your tummy for this delicious extra.
2. Aim For Color
Fill your plate with vibrantly colored options to help reduce your caloric intake. For appetizers, choose veggies over crunchy carbohydrate choices and seek out dips that are veggie- instead of cream-based. For meals, go for cranberry sauce instead of gravy, roasted sweet potatoes over buttery mashed potatoes, a salad over green bean casserole or loaded stuffing, and if bread is a must, go for whole grain. This helps boost phytonutrient intake and also keeps calories lighter.
3. Ask This Question
"Am I hungry?" This is the question you should ask yourself every time you grab something to eat. Listen to your own body's signals and make sure you're aware of and truly hungry for each bite you're reaching for. This will challenge your willpower immensely, since holiday get togethers always involve bowls and platters of nibbles. Remember that you don't have to join in just because other people are noshing. Focus on the amazing conversations and the people you're with, and eat when your body is ready, not when food is served.
4. Go Lighter Earlier
On the actual holiday, you know an obscenely enormous meal is on the horizon. No need to skip breakfast and lunch - that will screw up your metabolism and make you so famished, you'll end up devouring even more. Just eat lighter in the beginning of your day, so you'll be hungry for that larger meal. A green smoothie for breakfast and a salad for lunch is perfect.
5. Celebrate and Be Done
The actual holidays are one or two days long, so you should give yourself permission to indulge on those days. Giving into your cravings will allow you to move on, so you're not obsessing about it the entire season. Just remember not to let one day of overindulging lead to weeks of too much. Enjoy the amazing food, then start eating healthy the following day.

Rupert Sanders Defends Casting Scarlett Johansson in "Global" Ghost in the Shell
Sunday night in Toyko, Ghost in the Shell director Rupert Sanders faced questions about the charges of Hollywood whitewashing the movie has sparked. Scarlett Johansson, rather than a Japanese actress, takes on the lead role in the new version of the Japanese classic. At a party to debut the Ghost in the Shell trailer, he defended his approach to remaking the iconic anime as an international retelling with a global cast.
On Why He Chose Johansson for the Role of Major
"I think whenever you cast someone, someone's going to be critical about it. To me . . . I stand by my decision," Sanders said during a Q&A onstage, which followed the debut of the footage. "She's the best actress of her generation, and I was flattered and honored that she would be in this film. And I think so many of the people around the original anime have been vehemently in support of her because she's incredible, and there are very few like her."
On How He Expects Those Wary of the Casting Will React to the Film
Despite the answer Sanders gave onstage, the director faced even more questions about the reasoning behind his decision - and what efforts he took to achieve the global cast he spoke of - in a huddle with journalists later that night. When asked what it was like to wait to show footage from the movie amid such controversy, he said it was "quite seductive," and seemed assured that he can change the minds of those who are suspect of his approach with the movie itself.
"We knew this time would come, and I think we're quite proud of what we've done and how we've done it. So it wasn't like, 'We've got to get it out there and we're not going to take any more flak.' It's like, it'll come out when it's ready," he said. "Even when we started putting out the little ten-second teasers . . . we started to see when that stuff came out, people were like, ah, maybe there's something in this. And I hope that we see this week, what do people think of it? And how to grow and how to find its place in the zeitgest."
On Why He Says Casting Johansson Allowed for a More Diverse Cast Overall
Sanders repeatedly praised Johansson's performance throughout the evening, but also seemed to suggest that casting her was also a practical decision; one that allowed him to fill the rest of the big-budget film with global stars including Japanese megastar Takeshi Kitano and French actress Juliette Binoche.
"It's a very international cast, and the beauty of casting [Johansson] was that I kind of didn't have to cast big-name actors around her," he told reporters. "I could cast people like Juliette Binoche and Kaori Mamoi and Takeshi Kitano. You know, that's unusual for a Hollywood film. Usually you need your star and then you need 10 people who can go on the chat shows; [go] beneath them on the poster. But we didn't have that. It was great to be given the freedom to cast the film how you want."
Fans and critics will be able to decide the matter for themselves when Ghost in the Shell hits theaters in March of 2017.
