These Are the Best Celebrity Makeup Looks of 2016
This year was eclectic when it came to makeup looks. There were those who consistently went for the eye-catching bold and bright (Demi Lovato and Sofia Vergara wanted all the attention), while others stuck to three keywords: subtle, shimmery, and golden (Becky G, Selena Gomez, we're talking to ya). A fringe benefit of this all over the place range? The seemingly limitless amount of beauty inspiration you have to inspire your New Year's Eve and 2017 beauty looks. Scroll ahead to find our top eight celebrity makeup looks of the year and a few shopping links to buy everything you need to easily recreate them.
10 Major Mistakes You're Making When You Try to Straighten Curls
The process of the classic "press and curl" has come a long way from the hot-comb and hair-grease days. We're not talking about your average blowout here. Getting coarse, thick, or curly hair straight requires more than a round brush and blow dryer.
You need to know the proper technique and own several different hot tools to achieve a silky finish on natural textures - and even some pros can't do it without snapping a comb in half, popping the nozzle off the blow dryer, or causing permanent damage to your curls. Before you trust a blowout bar with your delicate strands, we challenge you to try straightening at home (you just might get better results).
We've enlisted the help of Johnny Wright, celebrity hairstylist and artistic style director of Amla Legend, to break down the 10 major mistakes you're making when you flat-iron your curls - with easy fixes. Plus, he reveals the frizz-fighting trick he uses on the first lady to keep her natural hair sleek after a workout.

Now You Can Watch Every Single Harry Potter Movie in Under 80 Minutes
It can be nice, from time to time, to go back and watch every single Harry Potter movie. The series seems to contain an infinite amount of magic, nostalgia, and joy. But, listen: not all of us have 20 hours to dedicate to such a beastly task. Luckily for us, one heroic Muggle took it upon himself to condense all of the movies into a single, 80-minute film. Vimeo user Tim Stiefler uploaded the masterpiece just this week, and it's like the perfect primer to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Or, you know, it's a great way to get a dose of wizardry in a pinch. Behold the magic above.

Gilmore Girls went out of its way to create fun moments for superfans, but there's one connection in A Year in the Life that is nearly impossible to see right off the bat. Emily's new maid Berta, the one she actually likes and keeps finally, is played by an actress we've all definitely met already: Rose Abdoo. While the name may not ring a bell, you'll definitely recognize her in her usual getup as Gypsy the mechanic:
Same. Person. Abdoo has appeared on Scandal, Veep, Parenthood (with her fellow costar Lauren Graham), and Mike & Molly (with her other fellow costar, Melissa McCarthy), but this time, she's hiding in plain sight! Boom.
Photographic Evidence That Queen Máxima of the Netherlands's Hat Game Is Strong

This Is the Target Shopping Cart That's Changing the Lives of Families With Disabilities
If you don't have a child with special needs, it's hard to understand just how difficult seemingly simple tasks can be for a family. For the Standifords, even a trip to the grocery store is met with stress because of the difficulty in transporting their 6-year-old daughter, Savannah, who has a rare chromosomal deletion that causes life-threatening conditions such as uncontrolled epilepsy, cerebral palsy, heart defects, chronic kidney disease, and severe intellectual impairments.
"When Savannah was younger we were easily able to whisk her up - oxygen tank, apnea monitors and all - and put her in [a] cart or use her stroller for transportation," Adam Standiford, Savannah's father, told ABC News. "As she has aged, she has grown. . . . She is currently almost 4 [feet] tall and nearing 35 pounds. She no longer fits in a standard shopping cart."
When his wife made a recent trip to her local Target in Dardenne Prairie, MO, she discovered something that wouldn't get a second glance from most shoppers but would surely alter her family's life forever. It was a shopping cart designed for older children and adults with disabilities.
Named Caroline's Cart after the creator's daughter, who suffers from Rett syndrome, the simple device "will change how we can shop," Adam said. So moved by the introduction of such a cart, he took to Facebook to thank Target personally.
Dear Target,
I can't express enough how happy my wife was to see this at our local Target today. We have a 6year old handicap girl who either doesn't fit in carts anymore or gets weird looks to as why she's sitting in the basket and can't walk like a normal child. This simple cart literally will change how we can shop, not having to worry as to how we are going to get her into a store. Every retailer in the country should follow suit! It is also quite ironic that my wife's name is Carolyn and the cart is called Caroline's cart. I will forever be Target loyal!
Sincerely,
Every parent of a special needs kid
The post, which already has 117,000 likes, is filled with comments from other parents of children with special needs, all of whom are either sharing their stories about their experience with the shopping cart or asking when one will make it to a store near them. Thankfully, Target was listening:
"Target is always looking for new ways to improve our guests' shopping experience," a representative from the retailer wrote on Adam's Facebook post. "This is just another example of Target listening to guests and making changes based off of their feedback."
The rep went on to let other eager parents know that they are logging their requests.
Have you seen one of these shopping carts at your Target?
This Goat Comforted by a Duck Costume Is Almost Too Cute to Be Real
Personally, we've always felt that goats are the underrated cuties of the animal kingdom. Laying eyes on Polly the goat only confirms our suspicions.
This 6-month-old goat turned internet sensation hails from Goats of Anarchy, a goat rescue based in New Jersey. Anxious ever since since she was just a kid (get it?) Polly's caretakers told BuzzFeed News that the only solution that was ever able to successfully calm the poor girl was tucking her into a duck costume.
Not buying it? Goats of Anarchy staff wrote on Instagram, "Polly loves her duck suit. Polly NEEDS her duck suit. It puts her right to sleep. Tonight she was feeling anxious because I'm too busy to sit with her. I put her duck suit on and she's totally happy. It instantly soothes her! Its the strangest cutest thing." Whatever makes you feel your best, Polly! (And can we get one of these duck suits, please?)
Look through Polly's insanely adorable Instagram feed for a guaranteed mood booster, courtesy of one very stylish goat.

Twitter Took a "Sexy" Challenge and Turned It Into Something F*cking Hilarious
When a new "challenge" starts trending on Twitter, you never really know what to expect; will it be a video challenge where participants have to stand still or something more politically charged? But when the #GreySweatpantsChallenge began picking up steam, there wasn't much mystery about what it could mean: Twitter was in for an eye-candy treat. Male users began using the challenge to show off their - ahem - physical endowment and got lots of tongues wagging about the challenge.
But leave it to the internet to turn even the sexiest of trends into a joke! It didn't take long for other Twitter users to begin posting mock photos of what they're "packing," including but not limited to dogs, Christmas trees, Bibles, and musical instruments.
We've collected some of the most hilarious examples (and some devastated reactions from people who were enjoying the challenge's original purpose) ahead. Trust us, you don't want to miss the ficus tree.

Gilmore Girls: Luke and Lorelai's Final Scene Includes a Sweet Throwback to the Original Series
Warning: spoilers ahead!
It's been a long time coming, but Luke and Lorelai are officially endgame. Netflix's Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life may have left us with a lot of unanswered questions, but there was one scene that left us extremely satisfied: Luke and Lorelai's wedding. After getting engaged, the two decide to elope the night before their actual wedding in the middle of Stars Hallow under the gazebo. As if tying the knot under sparkly lights wasn't enough to make you teary eyed, the scene makes us even more emotional by setting their dance to "Reflecting Light" by Sam Phillips. You know, just the same song they shared their first dance to during season four of the original series. Not only is it a sweet throwback, but it further emphasizes how the series has come full circle almost 10 years later.
Are you crying yet?

Gilmore Girls: Why the Leads in the Stars Hollow Musical Look So Familiar
Let's face it: the musical sequence in Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life is . . . godawful, to put it bluntly. It drags on for what feels like lifetimes, it's wholly unnecessary, and most importantly, it takes away screen time from beloved characters (*cough* Jess Mariano *cough*). Thankfully, there is one small, itty-bitty silver lining: Sutton Foster and Christian Borle. If you're forced to watch a 10-minute-long faux musical about the boring history of a small Connecticut town, you might as well watch one with legit Broadway stars, right?
Foster plays Violet and is likely the more recognizable of the two thanks to her current starring role on TV Land's hit comedy Younger and a past role in Bunheads, which is another brainchild of Gilmore Girls creator Amy Sherman-Palladino. In addition to lighting up TV screens, she's the proud owner of two Tony awards for best performance by a leading actress in a musical, from her 2002 performance as Millie Dillmount in Thoroughly Modern Millie and her role as Reno Sweeney in 2011's Anything Goes. For any fans of NBC's ill-fated (but totally addictive) drama-musical Smash, you'll likely remember Borle - who happens to be Foster's real-life ex-husband - for his portrayal of colorful composer Tom Levitt, before he showed up as Carl in the Gilmore Girls revival. Like Foster, he also has plenty of stage experience and picked up two Tony awards for his roles in 2015's Something Rotten! and 2002's Peter and the Starcatcher.
Before their divorce in 2010, Borle and Foster were just your average married couple who loved watching Gilmore Girls together, and they have remained friends despite their split. In fact, Foster is the one who got him the role as Carl to begin with. "It was one of the nicest things anyone has ever done for me," he told Playbill. "It was such a gift." Of all the celebrity cameos in the revival, they just might be our favorites (Stars Hollow: The Musical be damned).

The Walking Dead Offers a Grim Reminder That Everything Belongs to Negan
Another week, another frustrating single-story-focused episode of The Walking Dead. This week got us all caught up with Tara and Heath's "supply run." And, well, I don't know about you, but I totally forgot said supply run was a thing in the first place. Anyway, we spend the hour following Tara as she makes her way through a new beachfront community, which seems far, far away from the Saviors, and their Sanctuary, and of course, Negan. But as we've come to learn in the past handful of episodes, Negan is everywhere. The more obvious nod to his presence came through dialogue, but did you catch the more subtle nod near the beginning of the episode?
4 Characters Who Didn't Make It This Far in The Walking Dead's Comic Books
What Happens in the Walking Dead Comic Books After Negan's Brutal Entrance
The Walking Dead: What Could Happen With Rick Now That He's Under Negan's Thumb
Here's what happens: Heath and Tara get in an argument in the camper. Heath wants to go back to Alexandria, because even though they're empty-handed, it's been two weeks. Tara wants to continue searching for much-needed supplies. After going back and forth a little longer - and making it clear that they're not even aware of Denise's death or the nightmare murders of Glenn and Negan - they get ready to go out for one more day. That's when Tara grabs her gun and examines a pretty conspicuous carving on the handle.
It shouldn't take more than a second to realize it's a carving of Lucille, which means this gun once belonged to Negan. If you're thinking it's the same gun Carl has near the end of season six, it's not. That said, Carl's gun and Tara's gun do both come from that same Savior outpost raid that Rick and his crew carry out. Basically, we need to remember that Tara and Heath leave for their supply run straight from that event. That's why they don't know anything about anything, and it's also why this particular gun isn't part of the "inventory" Negan uses to account for all his weapons back at Alexandria. And, of course, that's why it looks so similar to Carl's, but actually isn't.
It's worth noting that, in the depths of season seven, the "Lucille" carving has taken on a new kind of significance. When we see it on Carl's gun back before Negan's entrance in season six finale, it's more like an omen, a foreboding symbol of the horror on the horizon. In the wake of all that, though, it's become more like a grim reminder: Negan is everywhere, even when you can't see him. You may think you've avoided him or outsmarted him, but he's always one step ahead. Basically, Tara and the Oceanside community better watch out.
The Single Most Frustrating Thing About The Walking Dead
The seventh season of The Walking Dead has slowed to a crawl. After that devastating season premiere, where we lose not one but two of our favorite characters, every episode has been a tight zoom on one character and one storyline. Don't get me wrong, the episodes have, for the most part, been interesting. Even after just an hour, I felt haunted by that terribly upbeat song the Saviors use to torture Daryl. It was fascinating to get an in-depth look at The Kingdom. Even our pit-stop at the Hilltop yielded a pretty surprising comic book deviation. With all this going on, I still found myself itching to break away from the story at hand so I could see the show's other characters. And that's something The Walking Dead hardly ever does.
What Happens in the Walking Dead Comic Books After Negan's Brutal Entrance
5 Theories For How Negan Could Die on The Walking Dead
OK, Now The Walking Dead Is Just Plain F*cking With Us
Here's the thing: while this hyperfocus in any particular episode can offer a lot of depth, I think it mostly just makes me frustrated as a viewer. By the time we get to the season's fourth episode, a 90-minute check-in with Rick and the gang back in Alexandria, it's been nearly a whole month since Glenn and Abraham's horrific deaths. As viewers, we mourned the character deaths the week after the premiere. It would make sense, emotionally, to see the characters' fallout the following week.
Instead, the second episode spends an entire hour showing us what's up with Carol and Morgan in The Kingdom. And sure, it's nice to meet King Ezekiel and to get to know a community, but the episode could easily have been condensed to half of what it was. Isn't it more dynamic to show us everything as it happens? Wouldn't it be that much more heartbreaking to see Rick and the rest of the group's devastation while Carol remains oblivious in Ezekiel's fairy tale wonderland?
This isn't the first time I've felt this burning frustration. Back in 2015, the fandom at large was in a panic, thanks to a season six moment that makes it really seem like Glenn dies at the hands of human trash bag Nicholas. For weeks, we wondered when we'd learn the truth about his fate. Instead, we got a 90-minute episode about Morgan, another hour about Rick and the rest of the community in Alexandria, and another hour still that focuses on Daryl, Sasha, and Abraham. Finally, a month later, we learned that Glenn survives that dumpster fire of a near-death experience. The "delayed gratification," if you can call it that, doesn't build fun anticipation. It's not an artful progression toward his salvation. Honestly, I still can't think of a single purpose it serves, other than to turn fans into an angry, emotional wreck.
As a final counterpoint, consider another stellar drama on TV right now: Game of Thrones. At any given time, the HBO juggernaut must juggle half a dozen storylines or more. We jump from Daenerys Targaryen and her dragons to Jon Snow and his man bun in Castle Black. We veer from Cersei Lannister in King's Landing to Theon Greyjoy on the Iron Islands. We switch over to Arya Stark and her kill list in Braavos . . . and so on and so forth. And, sure, we may have to wait a week before getting certain answers about certain characters, but every episode leaps seamlessly between three or four pertinent stories, slowly weaving a greater narrative tapestry.
The Walking Dead's narrative style is ultimately holding the show back. It creates less urgency. It dulls the sense that all this madness is happening simultaneously. Instead, it feels as though everyone else is frozen in time, as though we can place them on hold because none of this is really real. Now, we're dedicating entire episodes to side characters we've almost forgotten about. Next week, it seems like we're going back to Alexandria, and it will only be our second check-in with Rick and the gang, despite the fact that it's the seventh episode. It also seems like we'll finally jump between stories, and Negan, oddly enough, will give speech explaining who the Saviors are. And you know what? I'm not even that excited to find out how everyone's holding up, or what Negan's gang is all about. I much rather would have found these things out weeks ago, right after Glenn's head gets bashed in.
Virgin America's Cyber Monday Sale Benefits Animal Shelters
If you book a flight on Virgin America today, not only can you save up to 30 percent on your fare, but $10 from each booking will go to animals in need. The airline partnered with San Francisco Animal Care and Control, The American Society For the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, and Animal Haven to launch this deal to help shelters. These funds will also benefit Virgin's Operation Chihuahua airlifts, in which the airline flies Chihuahuas from San Francisco to New York to be adopted. California is overrun with the small dogs, so Virgin gets them to the East Coast, where demand outweighs the supply and the pups can find loving families.
To take advantage of this Cyber Monday deal and help animals in need, go to Virgin America's website to search for a flight and use code TINYFARES.

You'll Definitely Feel Better About Your Life After Hearing What Kids Look Forward to When They Grow Up
Oh, to be a kid again. It's hard not to feel a little nostalgic for the simpler times of childhood when you are dealing with a micromanaging boss, paying a late fee on a past-due electric bill, or cursing your 5:45 a.m. alarm clock.
But YouGov, a British-based news site, surveyed 2,000 children, ages 8 to 15, to find out what are the best things about being a grown-up . . . according to kids.
Turns out, the best parts of adulthood are pretty great. More than half of kiddos long to stay up late and visit friends whenever they want. Next on the list? Living alone in their own self-decorated house, choosing their job, and buying a pet!
Oh, and there's more:
That doesn't mean these children were itching to grow up too fast. The site also surveyed the same group on the worst aspects of being an adult, and a whopping 64 percent named paying bills first. Another 32 percent were bummed about missing out on school holidays, 25 percent were concerned about wrinkles, and 16 percent weren't looking forward to having to get themselves places.
All that said, it's clear being an adult has plenty of perks. So the next time you're having a bad day, remember that you can dye your hair any color you want (a dream held by 16 percent of these kids), and feel great about your grown-up life.

The Magical Way Luke and Lorelai's Love Story Ends in Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life
Warning: Spoilers ahead!
Luke and Lorelai have always been a fan-favorite couple, and we've fallen even more in love with their romance thanks to Netflix's Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. While the revival left us with a lot of mixed emotions over those final four words, the pair's relationship is certainly one of the biggest payoffs. Sure, they have their fair share of ups and downs, but they eventually find their way back to each other like the true soul mates they are. Get the rundown on everything that happens here.
They're Living Together
Let's just say, seeing domestic Luke and Lorelai made us super excited. After so much back and forth in the original series, the two are finally happy and settled in a serious relationship. While Lorelai's mother, Emily, doesn't like the idea of them playing "roommates," we learn that they have been together for almost nine years.
They're Thinking About Having Kids
Even though Luke and Lorelai aren't officially married, they are considering starting a family, or at least, Lorelai is. They visit Paris Gellar's fertility clinic to look at possible surrogate options, but Luke decides he doesn't want to have more children. Things get even more complicated when the two start keeping secrets from each other. Lorelai lies to him about attending therapy solo, and Luke doesn't tell her about going to look at possible diner locations with Emily.
Lorelai Takes Some Time to Clear Her Head
As the two start to think more about their relationship, they realize they've been living separate lives. Lorelai decides to go on a Wild-like hike and do some soul-searching for a few weeks. Even though she never actually goes hiking, she does have an epiphany about her love life and heads back to Stars Hollow.
They Get Engaged
By the time Lorelai returns, Luke assumes that she is leaving him. So, in the middle of the kitchen, he professes his love and gives a long speech about why she should stay. Before he can finish, though, Lorelai interjects and tells him that they should get married.
They Elope the Night Before Their Wedding
The night before their wedding, they make the spur-of-the-moment decision to get married before the chaos of the actual ceremony. With a few of their closest friends, they head to town and (finally!) tie the knot. As if that isn't magical enough, they share a dance as "Reflecting Light" by Sam Phillips (the song they first danced to in season four) plays in the background.
Luke and Lorelai forever.
This Mom Is Single-Handedly Changing Playtime With Realistic Pregnant and Breastfeeding Dolls
A mother from Brisbane, Australia, is filling a huge educational gap with her new dolls. Betty Strachan is on a mission to educate kids all over the world about pregnancy, breastfeeding, and more modern-day realities by painting dolls to replicate situations that aren't taught at school. She's a mother of two boys under the age of 5, but it was her experience in a parenting group that made her realize the need for educational dolls like these.
"The decision to make a breastfeeding doll didn't come consciously," Betty told The Huffington Post. "I'm a member of a mothers' group that's comprised of very lovely and supportive women. I remember one day, I was drawing the new face on a Barbie doll, and she just seemed to be the embodiment of the entire group. So I mimicked the positioning of a latched baby with an old figurine I had and called her the 'Mamas Worldwide Barbie.'"
Betty has been painting dolls over the last four years, but her new Mamas Worldwide Barbie was a way for young children to learn a little during playtime. "I realized that it was really something that should be available - because, like most things that society deems unacceptable, educating children is the way to erase the stigma behind it."

Let's Face It: The Worst Part of the Gilmore Girls Revival Is the Godawful Musical
Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life may not be the high point of the beloved series, but it is filled to the brim with nostalgic moments, cameos, and updates on our favorite characters. There's plenty to love about the series, but there's one thing to hate. No, I'm not talking about the controversial Last Four Words (of which I happen to approve), I'm talking about the musical. My god, the musical! In the "Summer" episode, Taylor Doose outdoes himself by creating Stars Hollow: The Musical, with the help of a creepy silent partner/director. This is when Sutton Foster's highly anticipated role comes into play. She and former Smash star Christian Borle are the leads in the two-person musical. Lorelai is part of the committee to critique a sneak peek, and she's the only one who hates it . . . except for literally all of us watching.
There's so much wrong here. Why is the musical so bad? Why does it take up exactly 10 whole minutes of screen time? Why did we need four whole numbers? (They're called "Working on Building Stars Hollow," "What's There Not to Love about Stars Hollow?," "Unbreakable," and "Love Revolution," in case you were wondering.) Why did a talented and accomplished composer like Jeanine Tesori write such bad songs? Did she know how bad they were? Why is one song about having sex during wartime? Why does everyone think it's so good? Why cast Foster in a terrible role that's going to make us hate her? Why have her square off with Lorelai like a back-alley gangster?
I know I'm not alone. Here's a mere sampling of the fans reacting on Twitter:
15 min musical scene in 'summer' was so painful to watch. Could have used that time for so many other things. #gilmoregirls #AYearInTheLife
- Millie (@Amelia_tee1) November 27, 2016
All of us wondering why the musical is wasting screentime that could be spent on Jess #GilmoreGirls #gilmoregirlsayearinthelife #TeamJess http://pic.twitter.com/cwCDXZsFT7
- Kayla_G (@Kayla_G12) November 27, 2016
Why did the musical have to take up so much time? Worst part of the revival. Quality time wasted. #GilmoreGirlsRevival #gilmoregirls
- Katrina (@katcarling) November 26, 2016
The general consensus is that Stars Hollow: The Musical could have been novel, if only it were reduced to two minutes. And if the rest of those eight minutes were dedicated to watching Jess comb his hair. Should Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life return for a second season, let's all hope Taylor hasn't moved on to a dramatic one-man show, à la Kirk.
