This 16-Year-Old Snowboarding Prodigy Shows Off Her Personality With Gorgeously Vibrant Hair
For 16-year-old Chloe Kim, snowboarding was always a passion. The Mammoth, California native always felt tied to the slopes, and she's dominated the field as a woman and a teenager: she was the first athlete to win two X Game gold medals before the age of 16, and the first woman to pull off back to back 1080s. Needless to say, her star is rising, and while she was too young to compete in Sochi's 2014 Olympics, she's certainly a shoe-in for South Korea in 2018 - an exciting opportunity for her, as she's Korean-American.
Chloe is changing the face of snowboarding most certainly due to her young age, but also with her personality-driven aesthetic. Her hair is never the same color for long, as she loves going to the salon and testing out vibrant blues, fuchsias, violets and more.
"I feel like a lot of people feel like snowboarding is really tomboyish. That is not true!" said Chloe. "A lot of my friends love fashion... me and my snowboarding girlfriends go shopping when we can," said Chloe.
Recently, Chloe was named the first-ever North American ambassador for Korean cosmetics brand Laneige.

Everything We Know About Jason Momoa's Upcoming Netflix Show, Frontier
This year has certainly been Jason Momoa's year. Between making his first appearances as DC Comics demigod Aquaman and being cast to lead a buzzworthy reboot of The Crow, Momoa also surpassed 1 million Instagram followers and traveled the world. But that's not all; somewhere between all of his other commitments, Momoa also found the time to star in a new show for Discovery Canada called Frontier. The show impressed Netflix so much that the company ordered a second season before it even aired on Canadian and UK TV.
The premiere of the Canadian show was low-key, but reviews have been positive. However, unless you're able to access Discovery Canada in your country, you might be a bit clueless about what to expect from the series when it hits Netflix on January 20. We've gathered everything there is to know about Frontier, and it all boils down to this: it's going to be brilliant, bloody, and probably pretty buff.
Lonely Cat That Was Trapped In an Attic For 13 Years Just Found Her First Real Family
For 13 long and lonely years, this poor cat was left to spend her days in a dark, musty attic with hardly any interaction. Shown no love or companionship, or even given so much as a name, she had every reason to believe humans shouldn't be trusted.
But all of that changed one day when her owner called the Humane Society of New York and said, "I hate this cat and this cat hates me – and my wife hates her, too." The man on the other end of the line went on to announce they were moving out of their house and needed to "get rid of her."
Luckily, Anne-Marie Karash, the Associate Director of the Humane Society of New York, saw the potential in this severely under-socialized cat. The shelter took her in with open arms and finally gave her a name – Andrea.
Karash told POPSUGAR via email that for the first two days, Andrea wouldn't eat or even come out of her bed. "We put out a variety of food to entice her. She just hissed."
But after receiving care and an abundance of patience from the HSNY staff, Karash happily reports that Andrea blossomed into "the most affectionate cat." She's learned the joy of frequent chin scratches and stretching out in the sunlight.
And better yet – Andrea got adopted! After spending six weeks at the shelter, she was swooped up by a lady looking for "a cat to love, cook for, and to keep her company while she listens to opera." After 13 years, this green-eyed beauty found her very first real home and the love she deserves.

This Montage of Kids Scared of Santa Is Accompanied by an Epic Nickelback Parody
There aren't many things funnier than photos of kids who are scared of Santa Claus (you know it's true), but the Holderness family just managed to raise the bar by pairing a montage of said photos with the most cringeworthy music ever: a parody of Nickelback's "Photograph." The song starts with Penn crooning the familiar line, "Look at this photograph," as an old photo of his son absolutely freaking out on Santa's lap pops up. He then poses the most philosophical question of all: "Is it wrong that it makes me laugh?"
No, Penn. No it isn't.

Katy Perry encouraged her followers to vote by getting totally naked, and John Stamos posed in the buff alongside costar Glen Powell on the set of Scream Queens. This Drunk Woman Explaining Star Wars Is Basically Perfect
No matter how unfamiliar you think you are with the Star Wars franchise, chances are you know more than Maggie K, the star of this viral video. After a few glasses of wine, she proceeds to explain everything she knows about the films, and while some of the information is (kind of) correct, most of it is just completely out of left field. For instance, did you know that Richard Gere plays Lucas, the hero of the story? Neither did we, because that's not real. What is real is how funny this video is, and even though it came out last year, it's more relevant than ever thanks to Rogue One. Check it out, and take a look at all our other Star Wars content!

Hailey Baldwin's Strappy Black Bikini Isn't Even the Sexiest Part of Her Love Advent Video
If we raided Hailey Baldwin's closet, there's one item we know we'd find for sure: a teeny sexy bikini. The It girl happens to be the queen of waterside style, and when she shot day 21 of Love magazine's advent calendar, she once again showed off her body in a strappy black two-piece. In the steamy clip, the model rolls around on the bed, hops in the shower, and kicks her legs in thigh-high boots. It's downright impossible to pinpoint the hottest part of Hailey's video, and with so much going on, we're sure it's not her bikini that tops the list.
Scroll through to see every shot in full, along with a few provocative stills. It's likely something that's NSFW, so wait until you're away from big crowds and check out Kim Kardashian's video while you're at it.

Prepare to Melt at the Exact Moment This Baby Heard His Parents' Voices For the First Time
When their newborn son was just a few weeks old, Taryn and Drew Ruiz found out that baby Archer had permanent hearing loss, but now, at 3 months old, he's hearing his parents for the first time. Drew said that after two long months, their baby boy was finally fitted for hearing aids, and lucky for us, they taped the whole thing so we can witness the exact moment he hears his parents for the very first time.
"He has never really been a fussy baby but until he had his hearing aids fitted he has never been as happy as he was in this video," Drew told Newsflare. "Now he smiles huge every morning when we put his hearing aids on and talk to him."
From the second Archer's hearing aids are put on, you can immediately see his face light up with a smile. Watch the video above and see the magical moment. He cannot stop smiling and neither can we!
Ariana Grande and Stevie Wonder's "Faith" Video Is Exactly What You Need Today
Here's something you may not have considered: Ariana Grande and Stevie Wonder are a musical pair fit for the heavens. They're really giving Scarlett Johansson - who sings "Set It Free" - a run for her money! Check it out, and catch the latest Sing teaser.
Is The OA Getting a Second Season? Here's What We Know
Netflix nearly pulled a Beyoncé in December, announcing that a new original series would be dropping in a matter of days. All eight episodes of season one of The OA are now available for all your viewing purposes, but don't get too attached. Netflix hasn't yet renewed the series for a second season. To be fair, it took the company a while to confirm season two of Stranger Things as well. We're still waiting on Gilmore Girls to be officially greenlit (or not - just tell us something, Netflix). Creators Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij hinted at the possibilities in an interview with Variety shortly after season one debuted.
When asked if there were plans for season two, Marling said:
"Oh my goodness, that would be so much fun. We spent a good three years just cobbling the mathematics of the labyrinth of a mind-bender that could go for many, many hours. We wanted to solve the riddle. We wanted to know what was at the center of the labyrinth within the very first chapter. I would think that's one of the exciting things about where we leave the ending, is that in some ways, it resolves in a satisfying sense, especially with the boys, but it also leaves something open. It's exciting to leave that gap between one season and another and see how people feel about it and what they're thinking, and then to get to continue, to actually answer the questions. If we get to be so lucky as to get to another round, I would be so excited."
Meanwhile, Batmanglij essentially said it depends on the response to season one.
"Yes, we designed it that way. Whether it will happen or not, I think that's up to you guys. All of you in the world. If people connect to it. I would like to see this story continue. . . . Brit and I figured out the whole thing. The whole thing's a riddle. There are a lot of clues. Very few people have really picked up on all the clues. Our sound engineer picked up on a major one that kind of blew my mind. I was like, 'That is designed for only the closest, creepiest viewer to find.'"

Once You Look at What Janelle Monae Did to Her Hair, You Can't Unsee It
Janelle Monáe just rocked an eye-conic look. The musician is known to have fun with her hair, but she took it to the next level but rocking googly eyes (like from the '90s) in double buns. It perfectly complemented her polka-dotted Kate Spade coat. (This is not the first time she wore space buns, BTW.)
Stylist Nikki Nelms created this kitschy look, which Janelle wore on NBC shows, including Today and The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on December 20.
"I see you all these eyes around my head," Janelle said while hanging out with Nikki in an Instagram video. "I see you (points)."
She also captioned a photo, "Even when I'm sleeping, I keep 20 eyes open."
If you want to DIY this style at home, try gluing googly eyes to bobby pins and sticking them into your topknot, double buns, etc.
We also can't ignore the rest of Janelle's style: a winged-out cat eye, creamy hot pink lip, and black-and-white nail art.
Keep reading to see more images of Janelle's unique beauty look!

You Can't Help but Laugh at These 18 Kids Who Are Absolutely Terrified of Santa Claus
For some children, meeting Santa Claus and telling him that they've been good (and would like a bicycle, please) is the highlight of their year - for other kiddos, well, not so much. If your child isn't a fan of the man in red, it's likely your holiday cards were sent out with the one photo taken before they started screaming, or you were forced to choose another photo all-together in order to really showcase your little babe's happy smile. However, some parents - we'll call them "heroes" - admit defeat completely and choose to send out their holiday cards featuring a photo of their child with a look of sheer terror on their face while sitting on Santa's lap.
Read through for 18 photos of children truly terrified of Santa Claus - they're comedy gold.
8 Things You Don't Know About Aldi, Straight From an Insider Employee
We reached out to an Aldi spokeswoman, Liz Ruggles, to find out the answers to our burning questions. How is it possible that everything is so cheap?! Turns out, there's a good reason for that and for the mandatory quarter per cart . . . oh, and for the self-bagging, too. Curious about the behind the scenes of one of the most budget-friendly grocery stores in America, one that attracts 32 million customers each month? Read ahead to get the scoop.
There's a reason prices are so low.
"We're obsessed with value, and by taking a simple approach to grocery shopping, we're able to keep our costs down. We don't have hidden expenses because we choose to save shoppers money rather than have nonessential grocery store services like in-store banking, pharmacies, and check cashing. We also skip the fancy shelving and keep our products right in their display boxes, which saves us (and our shoppers) time and money. We are dedicated to reducing our impact on the environment. So we ask our shoppers to bring their own reusable grocery bags or buy a few at checkout to use for all their trips to Aldi. At our stores, shoppers also pack their own groceries to keep our checkout lines moving."
There's a strategy behind the mandatory purchase of a cart for a quarter.
"Shoppers deposit a quarter to use a cart at our stores, and when they return the cart to the corral, they get their quarter back. This saves everyone money because our staff can focus on serving shoppers inside the store instead of collecting the carts from outside of the store. For many people, this becomes an opportunity to pay it forward. Our shoppers will often just pass their cart onto the next shopper, instead of returning it to the corral."
Aldi has in-house test kitchen chefs.
"We have in-house taste testers, aka our Aldi Test Kitchen Chefs. Our chefs hit pause on developing recipes at least twice a year to taste the quality of our products before they hit the shelves - every single Aldi product. They want to make sure our brands are as good, if not better, than the national brands."
You can return any Aldi-exclusive product for a full refund.
"We're so confident in the quality of our products that we offer a double guarantee, which means if for any reason customers don't like an Aldi-exclusive brand product, we'll give them their money back and replace the item."
Aldi donates expired foods.
"Each of our divisions has the option to contribute to local charities, donate product to causes in their areas, and encourage employees to volunteer with local community organizations. In 2015, we also grew our partnership with Feeding America to make it easier for our stores to donate expired or lightly damaged product to food banks in our communities."
The best way to save money is to buy Aldi-exclusive brands.
"Smart shoppers have found that switching from national brands to Aldi-exclusive brands can save them up to 50 percent on their grocery bill. We also have Aldi Finds - these premium food and household products are only in stores for a limited time. Product variety depends on the season, and there's usually a theme for the week's Finds. For example, starting Dec. 7, we have some great gift options."
Fresh produce is among the bestselling products.
"In 2015, our top selling products included staple items such as eggs, milk, and butter, as well as our fresh produce items such as strawberries, bananas, grapes, and oranges. Additionally, with our Never Any! product line, we offer fresh meat that never contains added antibiotics, hormones, or animal byproducts."
There's no MSG, artificial coloring, or hydrogenated oil in Aldi's products.
"Aldi got rid of added MSG, certified synthetic colors, and partially hydrogenated oils from all of our exclusive brand food products. And more than 90 percent of the products on our shelves are under our exclusive brands."
Kanye West Cancels the European Leg of His Tour as He Struggles to Maintain His Mental Health
Following Kanye West's recent mental breakdown, the rapper has canceled the European leg of his Saint Pablo tour, TMZ reports. His team reportedly contacted Live Nation to let them know his 2017 tour dates in Paris, the UK, and Germany have been called off. Shortly before entering the hospital, Kanye went on two separate rants during his concerts, where he criticized Beyoncé, Jay Z, and Hillary Clinton and praised Donald Trump by calling him a "f*cking genius." He even met with the president-elect after getting released from the hospital. While Kanye and his wife, Kim Kardashian, have faced multiple divorce rumors since his breakdown, the couple looked happy and healthy during their recent date night in LA. Hopefully his time off will give the family such much-needed R&R.

Queen Elizabeth II Delays Christmas Plans After Coming Down With a "Heavy Cold"
When you're the queen of England, you can do anything you want, even it means delaying Christmas. Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip usually travel to their Sandringham country estate to celebrate the holidays, but they decided to push back their trip since both have come down with "heavy colds," according to Buckingham Palace. Amid concerns for the royals' health, it was revealed on Wednesday that the queen will be stepping down from 25 patronages this year, which includes the responsibility of multiple organizations in the UK. Luckily she has three successors in mind: Prince William, Prince Harry, and Kate Middleton. William and Harry have been performing duties in place of the 90-year-old monarch for years now, so the move makes quite a bit of sense.
From now on, organizations like Save the Children, Barnardo's, and the Royal Geographical Society will be passed on to her family members. William will handle the Amateur Swimming Association, while his little brother takes over the Rugby Football Union and Rugby Football League. The queen's decision was announced during her and Prince Philip's annual Christmas lunch at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday, which was attended by William, Harry, Kate, and Prince George. Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie, Prince Charles, and his wife, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, also arrived for the festivities. It remains unclear which of the 600-plus organizations they might have a part in helping the queen with.

These Preemies Dressed as Presents Are the Best Gifts Their Parents Will Ever Hold
For many parents at St. Luke Hospital in Kansas City, MO, Christmas came early with the arrival of their newborns. Even though their babies are the best gift these parents will ever hold, a group of dedicated volunteers worked to give them a priceless surprise.
As families with infants in the neonatal intensive care unit prepare to spend their first holiday season in the hospital, nurses and dedicated March of Dimes volunteers collaborated to make this Christmas magical for all of those who are excited to celebrate their tiny presents. For the memorable day, staff dressed up 31 babies as precious gifts, complete with handmade hats, and also gave parents a special card that honored what a gift their little ones are this holiday season. Santa Claus then stopped by the NICU along with former NICU moms who are photographers to capture the heart-melting moment for parents to cherish.
"The holidays can be an especially emotional time for families in the NICU. Babies here are usually born premature or sick, and they may spend weeks or months growing healthy enough to go home," Michelle Manuel, a representative for St. Luke Hospital, said in a statement. "So providing these special families with an opportunity to celebrate the holidays in a memorable way allows them a sense of normalcy, and an opportunity to celebrate their babies' first milestones - even in the hospital - which is what every family wants to do!"

Emily Ratajkowski Has Been Wearing This Item Everywhere, and You've Definitely Noticed
When Emily Ratajkowski snapped a photo at dinner, we immediately looked at her accessories, mostly because her earring seemed so familiar. It turns out that the Jennifer Fisher silver drop was actually the same one she rocked just a few weeks ago while out shopping in LA. Though the actress previously tried Spring 2017's single earring trend with a simple black turtleneck and cuffed jeans, for a night out, she opted for something fancier, pairing the it with a black dress.
The small addition - worked for both her street style and dinner outfits - serving us all a gentle reminder that accessories should never be an afterthought. Emily just gave us a free dose of styling advice, and we'll totally take it - along with similar earring picks below!
How My Family's Unrelenting Love For Our Dog Saved His Life
By the time I was 12 years old, my family had just about every type of pet you could own. We adopted hamsters, a rabbit, countless fish, a turtle, frogs, and even birds - needless to say, we're animal people. But no matter how much we enjoyed our small pets, my sister and I always longed for a puppy. So when I returned from sleep-away camp in sixth grade and was welcomed by a furry little Shih Tzu named Tyler, it was quite possibly the happiest day of my life. He was the perfect surprise, and my family became attached immediately.
A couple of years went by and Ty was the picture of perfect health, until we came home from a family vacation to find him acting unlike his usual happy self. He had no interest in playing or eating, he was losing tons of hair and weight, he incessantly gnawed at his skin, and he would arch his back at random times throughout the day.
Frantic with worry, we rushed him to the vet to run tests. After the results were inconclusive, we took him to have an X-ray, which is when doctors found a large mass on his thymus gland. Lodged between his heart and his lungs, my little boy had a malignant tumor. Every doctor we spoke to insisted he be put to sleep. We were told that even if we tried to treat his cancer, he would only live another two to three years.
I distinctly remember the day my parents broke the news. We sat on the kitchen floor holding our sick puppy and cried for hours, completely heartbroken and torn. How could we give up on this precious thing? How could we not fight for him?
And so we did.
An invasive surgery such as Ty's is draining for a human, and he was only a 10-pound dog. After doctors removed his tumor, they advised that we continue with chemotherapy, so for six months we took him to get his treatment. He lost all of his hair, and as many canine enthusiasts know, Shih Tzus are known for their luscious manes, so this was particularly upsetting.
Once his cycle was finished, all we could do was wait. He was successfully in remission, but we still couldn't shake what the doctors had told us: "Only two to three more years . . . " So with that in mind, we treated him like the prince he was. Each day we spent with our strong survivor was cherished. We loved him like no puppy has ever been loved before - at least in our minds.
Ty is turning 11 years old this year.
He has beat the formidable odds, and we can't help but consider him a medical miracle. The only explanation doctors have offered to us is that he is still alive because of the immense bond he has with my family. He is our pride, our joy, and our whole world. As he ages, memories of the emotional roller coaster we all endured grow foggier, but what he went through has never been forgotten.
After 3 Back Surgeries, Bar Method Helped Me Find the Joy in Exercising
I never expected to utter the words “joy” and “exercise” in the same sentence. Then, two years ago, on a whim and with a little convincing from my best friend, I tried The Bar Method. To this day, I take classes five and sometimes six times a week. I spring out of bed every morning at 5 a.m. put on my grippy socks to ensure I don’t miss one of my favorite hours of the day. But it wasn't always that way.
As a child, I was never very active. I did gymnastics but I was never into sports. My love of gymnastics came to grinding halt when I was 10 years old and learned that I had a pretty severe case of scoliosis (curvature of the spine). In just one year, I endured three extensive surgeries. I don’t want go into too many gory details, but the ordeal involved rib removal, spine twisting, and a Herrington rod (metal rod that was inserted and screwed into my spine along one side to straighten my spine) coming loose.
When it was over, I was three inches taller but a hell of a lot less flexible. Prior to the surgery, I could do backbends and bridges, but afterwards, I could only move at my neck and bend at my hips - everything in between was as straight as an arrow. With this limited flexibility and my exceptional caution, I just stopped being active, and I always had a doctor's note that allowed me to pass gym with little effort. I knew after my surgeries, I would never gain the same flexibility but I should have been able to maintain strength. Unfortunately, the fear of more surgeries and just exceptional caution lead to me a path of weakness in both my core and back.
When I heard friends say they loved exercise, I thought they were crazy, but deep in the back of my brain, I was a little jealous. As an adult, I would entertain the idea of exercise for a few months - with yoga, crazy circuit training, and gym memberships - but nothing stuck and I hated all of it. Looking back now, I realize I was always haunted by my three back surgeries; I was fearful that over exerting myself would result in more surgeries. And after years of babying my back, much of my muscle had atrophied.
But then I tried The Bar Method. From the beginning, the classes were incredibly hard and intense, but to my surprise, I found myself craving them. I started slowly, going no more than three times per week, and I always did the easy or modified versions of the exercises.
Throughout those early classes, my back never hurt and I never felt as if I couldn't do the exercises. The amazing Bar Method teachers taught me which exercises I needed to modify and truly helped me focus on engaging my back and core (muscles I hadn't used in years but I could feel my muscles' memory kicking in). Within the first couple weeks, my first win was when I realized I could stand up, bend over, and actually touch the floor. I hadn't had been this flexible since I was a kid.
After several months, I began to understand the joy of exercising regularly: not only did it help clear my head but also I left class with less stress. A common phrase you hear from instructors in Bar Method class is “good choices,” when you challenge yourself just a little more, like going from doing push-ups on your knees to doing them on your toes.
In turn, I began to focus on my own wellness and to realize that life is full of choices, both in barre class and out. I slowly increased my schedule to five classes per week, and after the first year, I switched to the 6am class from the evening classes to ensure I never missed a session. Every class, I challenge myself to try something new or just to stretch a little further. If I am tired, I trust the instructors, who come to know your abilities and always push you a little harder.
It took me 20-plus years to discover the joy of exercising - and my love for it wasn't instant. It took time and the realization that those small challenges and movements during class have changed my body, helped me gain muscle strength, and improved my flexibility throughout. Yes, I also lost weight, but honestly, I am more proud of the strength I have gained over the last two years, and I have slowly gained confidence in my back! If you have had scoliosis surgery or other back problems or just haven't found "your" exercise, I highly suggest trying The Bar Method. If that doesn’t ignite your passion, keep looking; you never know when you will find the thing that makes you spring out of bed every day at 5 a.m.

You Are Going to Feel For This Mom's Airport Struggle Whether You Breastfeed or Not
Dear Delta,I am a mother to a four month and a three year old daughter. I spent the last eighteen days away from my...

It's no secret that being away from your children for a prolonged period of time can be difficult. Throw in being a breastfeeding mama with a nursing infant, and new challenges are presented. Vanessa Kasten Urango, mom to an infant and a toddler, was away from her girls for work last year and dealt with some of these challenges head-on.
In a post to Delta Airline's Facebook - written after spending over two weeks pumping four times a day to maintain her milk supply - Urango outlined the struggles she faced in figuring out how to transport her breast milk in the days leading up to her flight home. "One week before my scheduled departure, I contacted your customer service department via phone to find out how to transport the frozen breast milk home to my infant. I was told to pack it with dry ice in a cooler and check it at baggage claim," Urango explained.
After making a few costly Uber trips to Target and a dry ice vendor to make sure she met the airline's standards, Urango made her way to the airport on the morning of her flight, only to be turned down by airport employees. "The ticketing agent told me that I would have to pay $150 to check the $25 cooler because I already checked two other bags. . . . He had no idea how to handle my cooler with dry ice. In fact, he acted irritated by it, and got two other agents involved. To say they were rude and completely lacking empathy is an understatement. Long story short, they told me I could not take the breast milk on the plane," she wrote.
After no further help from the ticketing agents, Urango was met with compassion from airport police officers, who suggested she dispose of the dry ice in the bathroom garbage and carry the cooler with the frozen milk onto the flight. She did just that and boarded the plane exhausted, frustrated, and emotional - as anyone would have been after the same ordeal - and just hoped that the milk would stay frozen long enough to make it home. The post has been updated a few times, highlighting acknowledgment from Delta that the situation was handled incorrectly.
Though the silver lining is that most of the milk did in fact make it to her freezer, this was still an upsetting situation for Urango. Read her full letter to Delta above, and let us know what you think about how the situation was handled.
Photographer Proves Why All Moms Should Get in Photos With 1 Unplanned Snapshot
In honor of her daughter's first birthday, Erin Brundige and her little girl stopped by a JC Penney store to have professional photos taken. The proud mom made sure her child looked perfect - complete in a special pink and white dress - and noted that she was instantly impressed with the photographer's skills. However, despite her original intentions, Erin left that day with something even more meaningful than photos of her baby.
"I wasn't expecting to find an angel at a JC Penney photo studio, but it only makes sense that if I did, her name would be Penny," Erin explained on Love What Matters Facebook page. This wasn't Erin's first time having her baby's photos taken at this store but she noticed something different about Penny: her ability to get amazing smiles out of her daughter, and her eye for a good shot.
Towards the end of the session, Penny asked Erin if she wanted to be in any of the photos with her child and Erin couldn't help but laugh. "Haha, yeah right. I had worn a ratty t-shirt, a messy bun, and no makeup. I had zero plans to be in these photos," Erin wrote. "The truth was, I had had a rough year. My daughter's birth was traumatic and the emotional recovery was still ongoing. I struggled with shame over feeling like I had failed in having the perfect birth. I hadn't lost the baby weight and was struggling with my confidence."
After Erin declined the offer, Penny moved on and the pair looked over the shots. As Erin decided on which images to buy, her little one nestled into her shoulder, popped a thumb in her mouth, and started to get sleepy. "Penny looked at her and suddenly stopped with the photo selection," Erin recalled. "'Look at her eyes!' she murmured."
She took Erin by the arm and guided her back to the photography room. Despite Erin's protests over her "total lack of preparation" for being photographed, Penny ignored her, placed her under the lights, and whispered, "Close your eyes."
"So I did. I stood there with my eyes shut and held my daughter, who was still snuggled into me. In that moment I stopped worrying about how bad this picture was about to look and let my love for my little girl wash over me," Erin wrote. "I felt all the emotion of seeing her turn one and leave babyhood behind, and how incredibly blessed I was to be her mother."
After snapping some photos, Penny came back over to Erin, looked her directly in the eye, and said, "She doesn't care what you look like. Someday she's going to want pictures of you, and pictures of the two of you together. It doesn't matter if you have makeup on or if your hair is done. Take the pictures for her."
In that moment, Erin realized just how right this stranger was and the precious gift that she was being given. "I didn't want to always be the unseen person behind the camera and leave my daughter with no photos of me to keep my face from fading in her mind when I am gone," Erin wrote. "Whether that happened next year or in fifty years, she deserved my presence."
If it weren't for Penny's insistence o that day two years ago, there would be no photos of Erin and her daughter together at that age. "Thank you, Penny, for giving me the gift of perspective," Erin wrote. "Your perspective, as a photographer and a person, is truly exceptional."
Princess Beatrice's Studded Bag Might Look Normal, but 1 Detail Makes It Unforgettable
If you've ever accidentally lost your wallet or bag during a night out with the girls, you know it can be a total pain. But that's something Princess Beatrice doesn't have to worry about. When the royal left a club with her mother in London, we immediately noticed something special about her studded clutch: written across the front in gold metallic font was "Beatrice," aka the royal's first name. The monogram piece was pretty much her way of saying, "Hey, this belongs to me." It also served as a simple reminder as to who she is, in case you happen to forget her famous face.
Just like Beatrice, we're a fan of personalized items, and this may be the perfect last-minute gift for the friend who's always going out. Go ahead and silently thank the princess for giving us the idea and inspiring a few similar shopping picks below.
5 Things No One Warns You About When Fostering Shelter Pets
My entry into the world of foster animals came in October of last year, after my puppy fever hit a record high. Several months spent religiously stalking my neighborhood shelters led to a strange little face popping up on my screen - it was a Pekingese with bulgy eyes that weren't quite right and a wild fur coat that made a dog somehow look more like a lion with growth issues. And what do you know, he needed a foster home. I quickly fired off a "Can we foster this guy?" text to my boyfriend, and without waiting for a response, I was hurrying out of my office to pick him up from the shelter.
Swooping that pup up from Social Tees animal rescue turned our home into a revolving door for foster pets, welcoming a new four-legged friend each time the last found his forever family. The laughter, joy, and occasional chaos these animals have brought into our cramped one-bedroom apartment in New York has been the absolute best experience.
If you're at all considering joining the foster community, here's just a small dose of what you can expect.

There's a Secret Message on Emma Roberts's Jacket, but It'll Take a Second Before You See It
By now, we're sort of used to those "big reveal" moments. A certain style - whether it's a wedding dress or graphic tee - may look somewhat normal from the front, but then, the wearer turns around to show off an unexpected, statement-making detail. But Emma Roberts still managed to surprise, stepping out in Beverly Hills in an embroidered denim jacket. It wasn't just the fact that her name could be seen across the back in large, red, script letters. It was what was on the front that has us even more intrigued: "The Bobby Pins."
Is this a reference we should know? Or something personal, like an inside joke? Perhaps there's a bigger story behind what the text means, and maybe a possibility Emma's part of a Grease-like, Pink Lady group with her pals. Whatever it is, we'll be waiting for the full story. For now, though, scroll through to see Emma's jacket in full, then shop a similar style for yourself.
Paula Patton Shares a Heartbreaking Tribute For Her Former Father-in-Law, Alan Thicke
Although Paula Patton and Robin Thicke ended their 11-year marriage in 2014, the Warcraft actress still reached out to share a heartfelt tribute to his late father, Alan Thicke. After the 69-year-old Growing Pains star passed away from a heart attack on Dec. 13, plenty of people in Hollywood took to social media to express their sadness and memories of him, and his former daughter-in-law's words were some of the sweetest. Paula, who shares 6-year-old son Julian with Robin, captioned a photo of a smiling Alan: "I knew Alan since I was 15 years old and he had a tremendous effect on my life. I loved and respected him so much! So many great memories and laughs together. We will miss him so much! His grandson is quite sure he is still here with us in spirit.❤️" Alan's funeral was held on Monday at the Carpinteria, CA home he shared with his wife, Tanya Thicke.
Chris Pratt Shares 3 of His Favorite Things About Jennifer Lawrence
It's no secret that Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt are living it up on the Passengers press tour. In just the past few weeks alone, we've witnessed a lot of costar brilliance. Chris has cropped Jen out of all his pictures and shocked with an epic card trick, while Jen has definitely evened the score with her sweet, spray-painted revenge. Oh, and let's not forget her totally endearing Real Housewives meltdown or the fact that the pair savored the opportunity to trade brutal playground insults with one another. But for all the fun and shenanigans, we still see a glimmer of fondness between the costars here and there.
Case in point: when we stopped by the Passengers junket earlier this month, we thought we'd try to get a few fun facts that Jen and Chris had learned about each other in all the time they've spent together. Jen immediately offered words of love and even spilled on the romantic thing Chris Pratt does for Anna Faris every week. Chris then returned the favor with words of equal praise and admiration. "Jen has got a really sharp sense of humor," he said (to the surprise of no one). Then, he continued, saying, "I think that people maybe don't realize how funny Jen is. Jen is incredibly nurturing. She's very motherly; she's mama bear. She'll straight-up gut somebody. If she loves somebody and that person's in danger, she's got that mama bear strength. She'd, like, lift a car over her head. That kind of thing." It's official: if we're ever in serious danger, we're calling out to Chris and Jennifer first.
