Mark Hamill Is "Devastated" by the Loss of His Onscreen Sister, Carrie Fisher

Carrie Fisher's death shocked the world on Tuesday, and while many celebrities have been reacting to the news on social media, her Star Wars costars have been hit especially hard. Mark Hamill has known the actress for decades, starring as her onscreen brother in the original trilogy, then again in The Force Awakens. Shortly after news broke of Fisher's death, Hamill tweeted a black-and-white photo of the two of them, commenting, "no words #Devastated."

Fisher suffered a heart attack on Dec. 23, and Hamill had posted a collage on Instagram that said "Dear Santa: All I want for XMas is for the Force to be strong with Carrie," along with a handful of tearful hashtags, "#CarrieChristmas #SpaceSiblings #StarWars."

Over 100 of the Hottest Swimsuit Moments of 2016

Stars have been getting in on the swimsuit fun all year long. To kick off the New Year, celebrities like Jessica Simpson and Gwyneth Paltrow escaped to Mexico, while Kylie Jenner, Bella Hadid, and Irina Shayk made a splash on Instagram with their supersexy swimsuit snaps. Even during the cold Winter months, a handful of stars including Jennifer Lawrence and Hilary Duff had no problem flaunting their fit figures in barely there two-pieces. Although the year is coming to a close, that hasn't stopped Gisele Bündchen or Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen from slipping into swimsuits. And let's not forget Ashley Graham.

7 Ways Latinas Can Make Their Voices Heard in 2017

The unexpected outcome of the 2016 presidential election may have felt discouraging for many voters, including Latinas who rallied together against Donald Trump's many shocking comments about immigration and women. If you felt a wave of apathy in the aftermath of the election, you are not alone. Now that the proverbial dust has settled, however, it's especially important to stay engaged and involved. Ahead, we've listed seven ways to do that.

1. Participate in your local Latinas Represent chapter.

Latinas Represent is the byproduct of the National Hispanic Leadership Agenda, Hispanas Organized for Political Equality, and Latino Community Foundation of Colorado. The coalition works toward increasing Latinx representation in American politics. While Latinas Represent does give female leaders the tools they need to run for office or influence public policy, it also offers regular civilians a place to share the issues that affect them. To engage with other Latinas in your area, check out Latinas Represent's many chapters. If you're not represented on the map, then consider starting your own!

2. Contact your elected officials.

In November of 2016, a former congressional staff member went viral with her helpful guide to contacting representatives and actually making them listen to you. All of her advice is definitely worth a read on Twitter - however, she ultimately said the most effective method is to actually just make the calls. For more information on how to contact them, click here.

3. Share your story with COLOR.

The Colorado Organization for Latina Opportunity and Reproductive Rights (COLOR) is a pro-choice, sex-positive movement that fights for reproductive rights and the overall physical and mental well-being of Latinas. If you're willing, you can share your own so-called "reproductive justice" story with COLOR. The organization will only use your first name.

4. Mark your calendar for Nov. 6, 2018.

Despite the unexpected outcome of the 2016 presidential election, Latinx voters still had a strong influence on many local and state-level races. For example, Mexican-American Democrat Catherine Cortez Masto won the Senate race in Nevada. While these victories from the 2016 election are great, the midterm elections on Nov. 6, 2018, will provide Latinx voters with another opportunity to make their voices heard.

5. Become a sponsor for ELLAS.

Embracing Latina Leadership Alliances, or ELLAS, is a program that helps low-income high school students excel both in and outside of the classroom. For $950, you can sponsor a student and help them attend workshops relevant to their interests and pursuit of higher education. You can also get involved by becoming a volunteer or speaking at a workshop. While ELLAS is not an explicitly political organization, investing in the next generation is certainly a way to influence politics in the years to come. They are the future, after all.

6. Attend a local town hall meeting.

Town hall meetings serve as effective (yet slightly less formal) spaces for residents in the area to air their grievances and propose solutions. While these types of meetings don't have a direct effect on the nation at large, they are still important and can improve your day-to-day life. To attend a meeting, find out who your senators and representatives are and monitor their websites or Twitter accounts for any announcements on upcoming meetings.

7. Run for political office.

If you've ever considered a career in politics, check out She Should Run. Following the presidential election, the organization launched an incubator program that has since encouraged over 4,000 women to run for elected office. She Should Run helps women define their brands, stand up to sexism, and connect with other women in the program so that they can grow their respective networks.

What to Do If You Always Break Your New Year’s Resolution Within the First Few Days

You know how the gym is always ridiculously crowded during the first week of January and then quickly trickles down to the people who are there year-round? It happens to the best of us. A study showed that the number one resolution last year was to lose weight, and only eight-percent of people who make a resolution at all actually achieve it. If you always abandon your resolutions before January is out, it's easier to fix than you think.

Step 1: Reevaluate Your Resolution

Did you bite off more than you could chew? Did the resolution just sound good at the time? Time to push reset! Remember, your goal doesn't have to start at the stroke of midnight. But this time, really think about what part of your life needs an overhaul and go from there. You can also give yourself mini-resolutions to do each month.

Step 2: Make Sure It's Something You Really Want

The only way that New Year's resolutions can be successful is if you're in the right mindset. Whether you want to lose weight, shave time off your running pace, or up the weight on the bench press, motivation is key. If you choose a resolution you really want to accomplish instead of something you think you should be doing, it's much easier, rewarding, and fun to work towards it.

Step 3: Redesign Your Resolution

Even if you still want to cut your usual five desserts per week down to two, the secret for your success may be to start off slow. For the first week, decrease your desserts to four times a week, then three the following week, and so on. Pretty soon you'll be able to get down to only have sweets once in a while without missing it much!

Step 4: Set Mini-Goals

Maybe come December 31, 2017, your hope is to have officially said goodbye to 40 pounds. Ambitious? Yes. Impossible? Absolutely not. But it can be hard to keep the end in sight when it's a whole 365 days away. So plan to be down 10 pounds by March or even one pound a week. Hitting mini-victories along the way will keep you focused and motivated.

Set 5: Keep Your Eye on the Prize . . . Literally

Nothing says "I did it!" like a new outfit. But if clothes aren't high on your wishlist, choose something fun that will keep you determined through the year. Maybe you'll finally treat yourself to a full-body massage or that tech gadget you've had your eye on. No matter what it is, keep it in the back of your mind for the day you can officially become a part of that eight percent who actually tackles their resolutions.

Kaia Gerber Hits the Beach For a Fun Day in the Sun With Her Dad

Cindy Crawford and her gorgeous family escaped some of the country's chilly temperatures this week when they jetted off to Miami for some holiday fun in the sun. In addition to grabbing brunch with Rande's mom Ellen, the model's look-alike daughter, Kaia, had an adorable day in the sand with her dad. Kaia, who looked adorable in a neutral-colored bikini with black accents, was spotted laughing and running around with Rande Gerber on the beach on Christmas Eve. And on Tuesday, the 15-year-old model shared a dreamy beach photo to celebrate reaching one million Instagram followers and looking ahead to 2017. We already can't wait for more family vacations from this crew.

Zsa Zsa Gabor's Official Cause of Death Has Been Revealed

Legendary Hollywood actress Zsa Zsa Gabor passed away at age 99 on Dec. 18. After TMZ initially reported that the star suffered from a heart attack and was later pronounced dead at the hospital, her official cause of death has now been revealed. According to a death certificate obtained by the website on Tuesday, the Hungarian actress suffered a stroke, or cerebrovascular accident, on Dec. 10 before falling into a coma and dying of cardiopulmonary arrest at LA's Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center. The documents also state that coronary artery disease and cerebral vascular disease were contributing factors.

The Beverly Hills socialite, who was known for playing herself in her 60-year career in TV and film, had been ill for the last few years. Her colorful life also included a marriage to Conrad Hilton, Paris's grandfather, from 1942-1947. The two had a daughter, Francesca, who died in Jan. 2015 at the age of 67. Zsa Zsa, who would have turned 100 in February, is survived by her ninth husband, Frederic Prinz von Anhalt.

Celebrities React to Carrie Fisher's Death With Shock and Sadness

On Dec. 27, Carrie Fisher passed away at the age of 60 after suffering from a heart attack on Dec. 23. Since the news broke, stars have been taking to social media to express their sadness and memories of the beloved Star Wars actress. Her onscreen brother, Mark Hamill, tweeted a black-and-white photo of them together, writing, "no words #Devastated." William Shatner, Sarah Paulson, and Elizabeth Banks wrote a few touching tributes, while stars like Anna Kendrick shared their shock with fans. Keep reading to see them all here.

What Carrie Fisher's Death Means for Star Wars: Episode VIII and IX

The unexpected death of Carrie Fisher has left many of us devastated - from her iconic role as Princess Leia to her various other movie roles, she was a true star. The news has also left us with questions, mainly what will happen with Leia in the upcoming Star Wars films?

Yes, Rogue One proved the digital effects team can recreate the young Princess, but Leia is older in the new Episodes. Carrie Fisher reprised the role for 2015's Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and she is returning for Episode VIII as well. Filming concluded on Episode VIII in July of 2016, so unless reshoots are needed, Fisher already shot all her scenes. Unfortunately, filming on Episode IX isn't beginning until 2017, and both Fisher and Mark Hamill were expected to return. This means that Leia's storyline probably won't be wrapped up tidily in Episode VIII, and the writers will either need to figure out how to explain Leia's absence, or recast her. Since it's highly unlikely they'll recast her, the writers probably come up with a story about why she's no longer around.

Back in January, Episode IX director Colin Trevorrow hinted that Leia and Luke would have large roles in the film, saying that he wanted "to find new places that we can take those characters." Unless he was lying, this means that neither Luke or Leia will die in Episode VIII, making whatever they do for Episode IX a dramatic readjustment. Let's just hope they don't continue as planned, only with a CGI figure in place of Carrie Fisher.

We'll have to wait and see, but one thing is certain: the Star Wars universe won't be the same without Fisher's Leia.

The Most Heartbreaking Films That Had Us Crying Through 2016

This year has been a pretty tough year all around. Despite the fact that movies are supposed to be an escape from reality, the world of cinema is not without its heartaches. Case in point: some of this year's biggest movies were also some of the most heartbreaking. La La Land may be a precious musical love story, but it proves not all love comes easy. Queen of Katwe and Loving emerge from the crop as movies based on true stories, which means we'll get a glimpse at the very real heartbreak of historic events. All that's really just the tip of the iceberg. Keep reading to see what else opened the floodgates this year.

Carrie Fisher's Daughter Billie Lourd Will Return for Episode VIII

We were stoked when we heard Billie Lourd had joined the cast of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Sure, she's the daughter of the late Carrie Fisher (aka Princess Leia), but she's also an impressive young actress. She's one of the biggest scene-stealers on Scream Queens, and she's poised for stardom. We were really happy that she would be sharing in her mother's Star Wars legacy, but the question is: who does she play?

The credits say her character is Lieutenant Connix, but you wouldn't glean that from the movie. In fact, if you want to see her, you'll have to be looking pretty closely. Leia is now a general, in command of a massive army. Within that army is Lieutenant Connix. By my estimation, she has approximately one line. Well into the film's third act, she appears onscreen and says, "General, are you seeing this?" It's kind of cool that she's addressing her own mother (the layers!), but we were really hoping for more than just a cameo. Of course, I've only seen the movie once, so it's entirely possible she says something like, "We've been hit!" or "I see them!" and I just missed it.

See this picture? Lieutenant Connix is not in it, but she's somewhere in this control room. That's not all, though. Lourd also confirmed that she would reprise the role during a recent chat as a part of AOL's Build Series. "Lieutenant Connix is back," Lourd said. "You might not know her name, but you should now . . . Connix is back and better than ever." Looks like we're in for a real treat when Star Wars: Episode VIII drops at the end of next year.

It Looks Like Kanye West Got a Big Box of Rainbow Hair Dye For Christmas

Kanye West has certainly had an interesting last few weeks. After the "Famous" rapper canceled the European leg of his Saint Pablo tour and was photographed hanging out with President-elect Donald Trump in NYC, he was spotted out in Santa Monica sporting an interesting new 'do. Kanye made his way through a parking garage after catching a movie at the ArcLight Cinema the day after Christmas, wearing an oversize coat, camouflage pants, and a rainbow-colored buzz cut. The outing comes a few days after he enjoyed a date night with wife Kim Kardashian. The two are reportedly both in counseling to help them deal with their tumultuous year. Who knew Kanye could pull off pink, orange, and yellow hair so well?

My Son, the Bully

Women's fiction writer Brenda Janowitz got the call no parent wants to receive. Here, she shares her experience with learning that her son was the school-bus bully.

"There was an incident on the bus," the bus counselor told me. The words every parent dreads. A million thoughts flooded my mind: Did my child get hurt? Did someone dare touch a hair on my perfect 5-year-old's head? Did someone tease him? Was he crying? Was he OK?

It was the first week of kindergarten.

My 5-year-old son had been teased on the camp bus this past Summer, and it broke my heart to think of other kids taunting my baby. Over the Summer, some of the older girls on the bus had been bothering my son with questions, singing silly songs about him. The bus counselor had quickly told the girls to stop the behavior, and the whole thing was over as quickly as it began. He went the rest of the Summer incident-free.

But now it was happening again.

"Your son and another 5-year-old called one of the other kids names," the bus counselor told me.

"My son?" I asked. Surely I'd misunderstood. My son was the one who was bullied, wasn't he? There was no way he was the bully.

But he was.

"Yes, your son and another 5-year-old bullied a fourth grader. They made him cry."

"A fourth grader?" I asked. I immediately did the math in my head: if my 5-year-old was in kindergarten, that made this other boy 9 years old. Two 5-year-olds bullying a kid almost twice their age?!

The bus driver filled in the rest of the details: all of the boys on the bus were joking around with each other, having fun, but then all of a sudden, the 9-year-old began getting upset. The 5-year-olds didn't realize it (because, you know, they're 5), and they continued joking around, calling the 9-year-old silly names. He began to cry.

I looked to my son as the bus counselor recounted the incident. He hung his little head down, and I knew that there was no mistake; he'd done it.

I assured the bus counselor and the bus driver that I would take care of it at home. The bus counselor told me that since the other child was reduced to tears, she'd have to report the incident. Her report would go to my son's teacher, the principal, and remain in his file.

The first week of school and my son was already reported to the principal and had a permanent record. The perfect start to the school year.

I talked to my son about name-calling. I reminded him of the incident over the Summer and we talked it through. He remembered how those girls on the camp bus made him feel, and no, he did not want to make someone else feel that way. I punished him - taking away the things he holds most dear (television, video games, and dessert for that evening).

We talked about the importance of apologizing, and not doing it again.

"I tried to apologize," my son explained to me. "But he wouldn't accept my apology."

"So, you didn't really apologize," I said.

"I tried, but he had his back turned to me."

"Did he hear you?" I asked. My son shrugged. He didn't know.

"Well," I said. "Then, we'd better apologize again."

We immediately got into the car and drove around the corner to the boy's house to apologize again. The short car ride was peppered with questions: Why do I have to apologize again? (To make sure he heard you, to make sure he knows that you are sorry.) What if he doesn't accept it again? (The apology is as much for you as it is him. If you offer an apology and he won't accept it, then at least you know that you've done the right thing.) If he won't accept my apology, does that mean that he's really a bully? (Nice try! But he's the one who was hurt. If he won't accept your apology, it might just mean that he's not ready to forgive yet.)

My son rang the bell - seemingly a million times, though it was probably just a few. I was just as anxious as my son. My palms began to sweat. I began to doubt my plan of action. What if the boy was still crying? What if the incident was worse than I'd been told? What if the parents were really angry and it was too soon to show up at their home uninvited?

The 9-year-old answered the door, happy to see my son. He'd been playing with his brother and uncle, who invited us in. (Thankfully, the boy was no longer crying and, seemingly, no worse for the incident.) My son, suddenly looking much younger than his five years, said: "I'm sorry I called you names. I won't ever do it again."

The boy shrugged and motioned for my son to come over and check out his toys. They began playing and I took a very long overdue breath.

"I really am sorry about this," I told the boy's uncle. "My son has never done anything like this before. In fact, over the Summer, he was the one who was bullied."

"You know," he said. "When you have boys, sometimes they'll be the ones being bullied, and sometimes they'll be the bully."

I smiled and wondered: would I rather have my kid be the bully or the one who was bullied? After all, when he's the one bullied, he hasn't done anything wrong. But then again, if he's the one being bullied, he's the one coming home in tears. I was teased mercilessly as a child for having buck teeth, for not having the right clothes, and then for being a "Jewish American Princess" once I did. Those experiences stayed with me. Even now, as an adult. On the outside, I'm a married mom of two kids with a successful career, but on the inside, I'm still that little girl with the overbite and wrong clothing.

"Wouldn't it be better if there was just no bullying on the bus?" I asked.

The uncle laughed out loud. He looked at me with an "are you serious?" sort of look, and I couldn't help but laugh along with him.

And I suppose he's right - kids are going to be kids. They're at a stage where they're learning to socialize. They're learning to interact with each other. And there's always going to be bullies, as much as the schools do to prevent it. But we parents have a responsibility at home to teach our kids the right way to behave, the right way to treat our friends. The right way to apologize and to actually mean it.

The next day when he came home from school, with a pit in my belly, I asked my son the question I didn't want to ask. The one thing I didn't want to hear about. I asked him how the bus ride was.

"I sat next to the boy I bullied!" he said, excitement in his voice. "We're friends now! Can we make a playdate?"

"Sure," I said. "But let's call him by his real name."

I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship. They now sit next to each other on the bus every day, and he's all my son can talk about. We've had a bunch of wonderful playdates. They plan to both dress up as ninjas for Halloween.

And best of all: my son even calls him by his proper name now.

How Filmmakers Recreated Young Princess Leia for Rogue One

Warning: Major spoilers for Rogue One!

Of all the sly references to the original Stars Wars films within Rogue One, there's one that you absolutely cannot miss. As the story wraps up, you see that the end of Rogue One flows seamlessly into the beginning of Episode IV - A New Hope. We find ourselves face to face with none other than Princess Leia, who receives the plans to the Death Star. It's a close-up shot, and while you don't see her long enough to study her, it definitely looks like an actual actress, and not a digitally re-created version of the late Carrie Fisher. Turns out that it's a combination, though it's not as obvious as the CGI job on the late Peter Cushing as Grand Moff Tarkin. So, who does play the Princess?

It's Norwegian actress Ingvild Deila, enhanced with CGI. The day the movie opened, she confirmed via Twitter, "As a Star Wars fan I am incredibly thrilled, grateful and honoured to play Leia and be part of this beloved and amazing universe." You may not recognize her, seeing as her biggest part was a bit role in Avengers: Age of Ultron, but you can watch her demo reel . . . and read her profile via her agency. Also, here's a picture of her from two years ago:

Kelsea Ballerini's Fiancé Designed Her an Engagement Ring to Sing About

Country singer Kelsea Ballerini got engaged on Christmas morning. But if the notion itself isn't special enough, just zoom in on the sparkler she's wearing on her finger. Kelsea's fiancé, musician Morgan Evans, helped design the halo of diamonds that Kelsea's been showing off to the world.

"I had the ring custom made with a diamond I picked from a local designer here in Nashville. I wanted it to be classic and beautiful, like her," Morgan told People Style.

While the engagement ring is definitely beautiful, we'd call it a step above classic. The design features stones of all different sizes that come together in perfect harmony. In fact, we can't wait to see Kelsea flash the piece on the Grammys red carpet in February. Read on to see if you don't agree, then shop inspired jewels that'd make anybody stop and stare.

This Cooking Hack Will Forever Change the Way You Make Spaghetti

If you're anything like me, cooking spaghetti involves completely guessing the proper amount for a serving. I'll stand at the pot of boiling water and grab a handful (. . . plus a little more for good measure) and think to myself, "That looks right; we'll find out!" But now that I've discovered this ingenious hack, I'll never go back to my uncertain ways.

The easiest way to measure out a perfect single serving of spaghetti is to use the hole in the center of your spaghetti spoon. Just take a handful of spaghetti and see if it fits, filling in the extra space as needed, until the bundle fits tightly in the space. And voilà, you've got a perfect amount just for you. Of course, if you're cooking more than one serving, just repeat the process as needed.

Who knew that hollow center served such a purpose?! Since you'll probably already be using that spoon to grab your spaghetti noodles, it's even more convenient that you can measure with it, too. Making a solo spaghetti dinner has never been easier.

10 Iconic Carrie Fisher Roles That Aren't Princess Leia

Carrie Fisher will forever be known as Princess Leia from the Star Wars films, but she did so many other things over the course of her decades-long career. Fisher, who passed away on Tuesday after suffering a heart attack on Dec. 23, was born Hollywood royalty. The daughter of Debbie Reynolds and Eddie Fisher, she began acting in 1975 and continued all the way up to 2016. Fittingly, Star Wars: Episode VIII will be her final film. While we'll forever be in her debt for giving us Leia, let's take a look at some of her other iconic roles.

This Victoria's Secret Model Found a Bikini That Will Stand the Test of Time

There are certain bikinis that everyone wants but eventually lose their appeal over time. Those with staying power (like a simple string design or a flattering one-piece) are a safe bet to invest in. While plenty of supermodels and influencers popularized the Kiini suit in 2016, we weren't sure the craze would last. Nevermind that, Victoria's Secret model Izabel Goulart just proved the look is here to stay.

She joined her boyfriend, Kevin Trapp, on vacation in St. Barts wearing the unmissable crochet number in navy blue, styling it with flashy jewelry and a tassel pendant. Izabel's bikini bottom was particularly cheeky so that she could show off her toned booty on Instagram. Read on to take a look, then shop Izabel's swim style, since you can trust it to be timeless.

What I Did to Get (Permanent) Eyebrows on Fleek

It's a beauty woe that's all too familiar. It started in middle school, when I couldn't stand to look at the tiny feather boas sprouting above my eyes. Gwen Stefani was rocking pink parentheses, and I looked like Harrison Ford. I had to tweeze them. Because, you know, when you're in middle school you make responsible and wise decisions. Little did I know that tweezing was a gateway to overtweezing. I ended up looking like Clara Bow when all I wanted was a clean Audrey Hepburn.

Eventually I stared at my superskinny arches and realized that (believe me, I tried) there was little waxing or threading could do to help my already barely there brows. I watched YouTube videos of women filling in theirs like they'd been doing it since the dawn of man. But I wasn't exactly a makeup connoisseur. Probably more like a festival face-painter . . .

But I turned to makeup nonetheless - pencils for sketching my misaligned arches, powders for filling in those sexy bald spots, gels to keep unruly hairs in line, and waxes for building up color. Do you know how much time that takes? If I'm being honest, it takes up most of my morning routine. I could shave my entire body faster than it takes to create one perfectly arched brow.

After all that time each morning, I still found myself catching reflections of them in the rearview mirror. I looked like I'd passed out at a party too early and got attacked by a Sharpie. I had to switch up my morning eyebrow-creating routine. "Eyebrows" and "trial and error" are now so synonymous to me that I fear the bad brow days and cherish the good like loved ones.

While, naturally, perusing #eyebrowsonfleek on Instagram, I discovered microblading. The clouds opened above me, and light poured down on my thirsty arches. My brow-brush-wielding hands prayed for a paid vacation. So I decided to look into the technique.

This alternative tattooing method produces semipermanent results. However, unlike the block-like and harsh traditional eyebrow tats, microblading creates subtle, natural-looking brows by mimicking the strokes of eyebrow hairs.

Microblading requires a manual tool featuring several tiny needles in a row to deposit dye into the dermal second layer of the skin. The pen-like device yields amazingly natural-looking arches because the needles etch hyperprecise strokes that actually look like your brow hairs. Or, in my case, my would-be hairs.

Needless to say, I was intrigued, so when I got the opportunity to visit brow specialist Piret Aava for microblading, I decided to take the plunge and get my eyebrows tattooed. What? Tiny tattoos are in style. It's 2016. And I needed some fly eyebrows, stat.

We Dare You Not to "Aww" While Watching This Little Lion Find Her Roar

A "giggle-fit" can be described as: an uncontrollable bout of laughter brought on by something hilarious, adorable, or a combination of both. It can also be described as: what you're about to experience while watching this adorable toddler try roaring.

When dressed in her new lion costume for the first time, this ferocious little animal gave an attempt at an intimidating roar, at the behest of her (understandably) laughing mom. What resulted was just plain cute, and the farthest thing from scary. (Unless you count scary-sweet, which would definitely apply!) Give the video a watch, and you'll wish all zoos were this stinkin' adorable.
