You Will Never Look at Bell Peppers the Same Way After Learning This Fact

Some bell peppers have four lobes (or bumps) while others have three. Have you ever noticed that? While some claim it reveals the gender of the bell pepper, Facebook user Mouthwatering Vegan wants to set the record straight. Bell peppers don't have a gender, but the number of lobes will help you determine the best use of the bell pepper. According to this Facebook user, bell peppers with four lobes are sweeter and best eaten raw. They also contain more seeds so they are better for harvesting seeds to plant in a garden. Bell peppers with three lobes are best cooked or grilled, and they also contain less seeds. I haven't experimented with this, so I can't know for sure if it's true. One thing's for certain, though: I'll never look at bell peppers the same way again!

14 Reasons This Is Selena Gomez's Most Stylish Year Yet

With the release of her album, Revival, in October 2015, Selena Gomez's style became reinvigorated with unique and sophisticated outfits. By the start of 2016, it became apparent that the former Disney star had entered a more mature chapter of her life.

On her global tour - which recently came to a close - Selena frequently took risks with both her stage costumes and her backstage wardrobe. She was suddenly juxtaposing Vetements sweats with high heels and tuxedo dresses with vintage sunglasses. In addition to the countless paparazzi pictures, her style transformation was also documented on her Instagram, where she currently has more than 100 million followers. Though Selena is taking time off from public appearances due to her ongoing struggle with lupus, we can't wait to see what next year will have in store.

Look ahead for 17 pictures that prove this was her most stylish year yet.

The Evolution of Queen Máxima and King Willem-Alexander's Love

There's no denying it: Queen Máxima and King Willem-Alexander of The Netherlands are not only the happiest royal couple out there but also the chillest. It's been that way since they first announced their engagement to the public in 2001, after meeting in 1999 at the Seville Spring Fair in Spain. Even their wedding was a laid-back affair in comparison to other royal weddings, with Argentina-born Máxima in a simple but still stunning Valentino gown and smiling wide for the cameras.

From that moment on, the cuteness has only increased. There are endless photos of the royal couple happily walking arm in arm, laughing so hard it's contagious, and enjoying sweet and silly moments with their three daughters, Princesses Catharina-Amalia, Alexia, and Ariane. Scroll ahead to see Máxima and Willem-Alexander's love grow deeper and more fun as the years go by.

14 Winter-Themed Kids' Movies For Snowy Days

Winter movies are often lumped in with Christmas movies, though ironically, Winter only starts a few days before the holidays. After stuffing your face with holiday desserts and finding new places for all of the gifts your kids received, spend the rest of their school break and the cold months to follow snuggled up on the couch watching snowy movies together.

Read through for our 14 favorite Winter movies for families.

The 1 Shoe You Won't Be Wearing in 2017

Hate to break it to you, but it's time to break up with your classic stilettos. Look, it's not like we don't appreciate the height they lend us or their ability to elongate our legs when we slip into a favorite minidress. But enter 2017, and there are so many refreshed styles that can get the job done - and with notable flair.

In 2016, we slowly transitioned out of our shoes with a fine point, swapping them for block heels that planted us a bit more firmly on the ground. All of the silhouettes ahead are actually way more comfortable than a stiletto, and luckily, they're what everyone's wearing. Scroll to find your favorite replacement pair, or jump ahead to the category you already know you're into.

This Cool Website Lets You See Your Year on Instagram

It's that time of year again, when everyone is taking a look back at everything they did in 2016. Curious about your most popular photos on Instagram? Just use this website that figures out your most "liked" photos and creates a cute collage out of them!

The website, called 2016 Best Nine, works the same as last year's did. Plug in your handle (make sure your account is public first) and you'll see a collage with your nine most "liked" photos and how many "likes" you received on all your posts. You can choose to download a photo with the stats of your "likes" and how many times you posted to Instagram or just download a "photo only version." Refresh the website and plug in your friend's handle or a celebrity's to see their most "liked" photos of the year.

Unlike last year, this year's website does not (yet) appear to have a screen that encourages people to sign up for an app called Nine. But if you do see a screen pop up, be wary of adding your email!

We suggest plugging in your username now and seeing your collage before everyone finds out and causes the site to slow down. Enjoy looking back on your year!

This 12-Month "I Am Strong" Challenge Is Better Than Any New Year's Resolution

While New Year's resolutions are often well-intentioned, the sad truth is that they usually fall out of focus sometime around February. Have you been there before? We certainly have. So what's a more actionable way to meet your goals every month? Mix it up and have a clear objective month by month, rather than for the year overall.

This year's mantra for us is "I am strong." Do you need some strength in your life? Are you hoping to feel more empowered, more in control, and more self-loving? Take a look at the 12 ways we're instilling this positive affirmation and living our strongest lives yet in 2017. You can mix up the months and customize your schedule and even fill in things that make YOU feel strong in particular.

Each day of 2017, make it your goal to say, "I am strong" and live your life accordingly. These 12 unique monthly challenges will help you remember the end goal: self love and a happier, better life.

January Challenge: Try a New Workout

Pick a new style of workout, and commit to it all month long. It has to be something you've never done before! If you've never run before, give yourself a goal of running a mile without stopping by the end of the month. New to yoga? You'll be amazed at how strong you get by committing to a few classes a week.

February Challenge: Compliment Yourself More

Make it a goal to give yourself five compliments a day for a month. These are words of affirmation that will build on your inner strength and self love, and they can be big things like, "I'm so intelligent," or smaller ones like, "My hair looks fabulous!" (We picked up this tip from the inspiring health coach and fitness fashionista, Joanne Encarnacion.)

March Challenge: Set a Strength Goal

You don't have to complete your goal in March, but you definitely have to set it and start working toward it. What strong thing do you want to accomplish this year? Complete a pull-up? 50 push-ups? Your first half-marathon? Maybe even a triathlon? Summit a mountain? Decide now what your goal will be, when you'll complete it, and create a plan to work toward that goal.

April Challenge: Pack Your Fitness Schedule

This month, plan five workouts each week for the whole month. They can be at-home videos, group fitness at a studio, a run, a dance class, or personal training. Pick a way to move each day at the beginning of the month, and stick to your schedule.

May Challenge: Gratitude Journal

Find a journal or notebook, and each day in May write down five to 10 things you're grateful for. You'll be mentally and emotionally equipped to handle anything!

June Challenge: Strong-Body Diet

This is your month to learn about macronutrients and focus on getting more protein to nourish your strong muscles. Make it a goal to learn four to six new protein-rich recipes and eat them throughout the month. When you feed your body the right foods, you'll feel strong.

July Challenge: Kickass Combat

Try boxing, Muay Thai, kickboxing, or a similar style of workout. You could even sign up for a self-defense class! Plan out your month and go at least four times.

August Challenge: The Buddy System

In August, find an accountability partner. Whether it's your best friend, sister, or co-worker, find someone in your life who wants to feel strong, too. Go to healthy lunches together, plan workouts, and shower each other with empowering and meaningful words of affirmation. "You're so strong!" is always a good one. You'll be stronger together, and sharing your strength with another person will make you feel incredible.

September Challenge: Meditation and Affirmation

While we're hoping you'll tell yourself "I am strong" every day this year, September is your month to really drive that home. This month, try a 10-minute meditation practice each morning right when you wake up, before the day gets away from you. Body-positive superstar and Movemeant Foundation founder Jenny Gaither says she creates a new mantra for herself each week, like, "love continues to flow in and out of me," for instance. Repeat your daily, weekly, or September mantra to yourself as you clear your mind through mental-strengthening meditation.

October Challenge: Learn a New Skill

While fitness is a surefire way to create a sense of strength, you can find it in other ways, too! By learning something new and challenging yourself, you'll feel so empowered. This can be as simple as, "I'm going to learn how to poach an egg," or "I'm going to learn five phrases in Italian this month." If fitness is the only way for you, then loop back to the challenge from January, and pick up a new kind of workout, or an exercise move you're trying to master - maybe a Turkish Get-Up?

November Challenge: Heat Things Up

As the weather gets chilly, choose workouts that make you really, really sweaty. Whether it's hot yoga or an intense indoor cycling class, bring on the sweat! Also, if you haven't yet, make sure you're completing your strength goal from March.

December Challenge: Give Back

Choose a charity, cause, or nonprofit to focus your efforts on. You can even commit to a random-act-of-kindness challenge. Adopting more charitable habits, giving more of yourself, and doing something to help others will help you feel strong - especially when you know someone else needs a little extra strength. The power you've created all year long is ready to explode and impact the world in a great way. You did it!

Selena credits much of her transformation to stylist Kate Young, who she began working with in 2015 while promoting her Revival tour.

Before that, she developed a relationship with Louis Vuitton designer Nicolas Ghesquière, and he's dressed her for many events. Selena has become a face of the brand, repping her favorite fashion house at the Met Gala and beyond. How to Winterize Your Pet For Frightful Weather

The Winter can be a risky time for animals, but with a few tips and precautions, you can winterize your pet to keep him safe and warm in the most frigid temperatures. Keeping your pet indoors may be the easiest solution, but your dog still needs his exercise, and your outdoor cat will want to keep her normal routine. Weathering Winter elements like snow, ice, and salt takes more than picking the trendiest pet parka; read on for a few simple and important safety tips for winterizing your pet.

If your pet must be kept outside:

  • If your dog has an outdoor house, then make sure it's elevated and dry and preferably insulated so that drafts don't creep in. And, of course, furnish it with warm, comfortable bedding.
  • Add a pet door to your garage so that he can have access to extra shelter, and provide him with a nice doggie bed in a clean, dry area. Also, make sure to keep poisonous chemicals like antifreeze and rodenticide out of his reach.
  • Check periodically to make sure that your pet's water is not frozen, and use plastic bowls instead of metal ones, as your pet's tongue could freeze and stick to metal, à la Ralphie in A Christmas Story.
  • This may sound crazy, but check under the hood of your car before you start the engine. Cats are known to seek shelter in car engines when temps are low. Usually banging the hood or honking the horn is enough to startle them out of their hiding places.
  • Outdoor pets will require more calories in the Winter to produce body heat, so make sure to keep his food bowl more stocked than in the Summer.

For both indoor and outdoor pets:

  • Dogs can easily lose their scent in the cold and get lost, so keep your pup close and under your control when walking him in the Winter. And he may be tempted to eat all that snow around him, but don't allow it. Snow could be tainted by harmful chemicals like antifreeze and contain dangerous objects, and it could upset his stomach or even cause hypothermia.
  • After taking your dog for a walk or after your cat comes inside, wipe their paws off with a warm, moist cloth, because it's likely that they stepped in salt or antifreeze. This will prevent your pet from licking his paws and ingesting the chemicals. As a preemptive strike, you can rub a layer of petroleum jelly on your pet's paws before he goes outside or put some booties on his feet.
  • Low temperatures can mean frostbite, so always make sure to check your pet for symptoms. Check his ears, paws, and nose for any ice clumps, which may not form immediately. And if you have to walk your dog on a particularly cold day, then when you get home, draw him a lukewarm bath to melt away any ice clumps that may have formed or are forming.
  • Make sure to keep space heaters out of reach, as curious pets might approach and risk getting burned.
  • In contrast to outdoor pets, indoor pets are typically less active in the Winter and therefore retain more weight. Watch your pet's food intake and motivate him to get moving with some fun indoor games or toys.
  • Lastly, get him that trendy pet parka! Proper Winter apparel is integral to keeping your pooch or kitty warm, especially if you have a less-furry breed like a Chihuahua or Greyhound.

Who Do You See in This Picture? The Answer Is Important to Your Vision

You might not want to know the answer to the test, but you should take it anyway. Play the video, and an image will appear - you'll see either Marilyn Monroe or Albert Einstein. We won't tell you what each answer means till the end, so as not to influence what you see.

The video comes to us from AsapSCIENCE, which creates popular YouTube science videos. What's going on? The video uses a hybrid image that combines pictures of the two icons and mutes or enhances certain details from each face. The test measures how well you're able to focus and pick up on details like contrast and spatial frequency.

So, for the answer: If you're at a normal viewing distance and get Albert Einstein, you have pretty decent vision. But if you see Marilyn Monroe, you should talk to your doctor about glasses or contacts.

This might be better than the whole dress debate, since it actually means something to your life. How do you compare to everyone else? Vote in the poll to find out!

Selena Gomez's Favorite Quote Is 1 You Should Repeat Every Single Day

Selena Gomez has given her first interview since taking a 3-month self-care break to Thrive Global, and it's only fitting it's all about getting healthy and gaining strength. Though Selena discussed all the small changes she's made to her life to feel less burnt out - perhaps we won't be seeing as many Instagrams posted to her account, since she's aiming to spend time away from her cell phone - what stuck the most with us was her favorite mantra:

"You are not what happened to you, you are what you chose to become after what happened to you."

Wow! Just like Selena, we'll be keeping that quote top of mind every day. Pin the graphic below as a constant reminder to give yourself a break.

28 Fashion Facts About Victoria Beckham That Just Might Blow Your Mind

My first and fondest memory of Victoria Beckham is from Spice World. The then-pop star, who went by the name of Posh, stood in front of the mirror on the Spice Girls tour bus, admiring herself in "the little Gucci dress," as Emma, Mel B., Mel C., and Geri looked on in amusement. Posh was trying to figure out what to wear, which always culminated in her go-to uniform. Not much has changed.

While Beckham has recently defined her style as rather relaxed with a pair of sneakers, there's no denying her taste for sophistication. She prefers structured silhouettes that still flatter the body from all angles and she designs her collections to reflect that aesthetic season after season.

While she's made the tricky transition from celebrity to well-respected, award-winning fashion leader (she's set to receive an OBE from the queen for her fashion and charity work) her love for the industry has remained steadfast along the way. Read on to track Victoria's fashion timeline and learn plenty of facts you've never read before.

You Will Cry Laughing at This Mom's Instructions to Her Husband For Watching the Kids

"I'm writing this to you out of love, not fear," starts Meghan Maza Oeser in a letter to her husband that outlines instructions for watching their kids while she's away. "I wanted to go over a few things with you before you embark on this weekend alone . . . with the others." In the letter, Oeser details everything from meal preferences to which sippy cup is acceptable for bedtime, and the way she describes her children's antics will make you fall off your chair laughing.

"Upon arriving home after work, things won't seem so bad. The others will hug, jump, and for the most part, be pretty excited to see you. This will be short lived . . . I promise." Oeser continues by disguising horror stories as directives that will help her husband "survive" the weekend:

Dinner will suck. Bailey will want pizza, while Harper will ask for hot dogs. Quinn will cry when you say the word hot dog, and will insist on mac n cheese (not the orange kind or the white kind, but the purple kind). We'll be fresh out of the purple kind, so she'll ask for toast. You'll already have started making mac n cheese for Penny, but since she heard Quinn ask for toast, she'll also want that toast.

You'll want to sit down and relax after dinner, but I'm warning you against this. It will get quiet...REAL quiet. This is when you'll realize that the threenager has fallen asleep somewhere. Do NOT let the threenager fall asleep. You're basically f*cked if this happens.

Pajamas. F*CK pajamas. Don't even ATTEMPT anything but a nightgown for Penny. And if you cannot find a nightgown for Penny, keep f*cking looking. She'll ask for her Minnie Mouse nightgown, but once you put it on, she'll scream in agony because the sleeves are CLEARLY ripping her f*cking arms off. Just find her Elsa one. Chances are, it's dirty as sh*t, but so what . . .

Quinn, Harper, and Bailey will go down seamlessly. Just wait. As they lie in their beds, they'll then realize that their tiny mouths are on God damned fire . . . They will come down one by one every god damned five minutes for water. Don't let ANYONE use Quinn's pink Elsa cup. If she sees this, she will lose her holy sh*t.

Breakfast. . . . Penny might want cereal, or she'll go for toast. Whatever you do LET HER PICK HER SPOON. Chances are, Quinn will have the ULTIMATE spoon, and Penny will convince you that you've left her with the sh*ttiest spoon in the bunch. Sometimes I'll give her a fork, and then flip her off.

Oeser ends her hilarious note with a few more good lucks, a subtle jab at him, and a simple, yet incredible, "Kisses." Read the whole incredible thing above.

The Song From One of the Top Videos of the Year Will Get Stuck in Your Head All Day

YouTube's top videos of the year are a mix of carpool karaoke, memes, pranks, and epic moments on TV. Sia Files For Divorce From Husband Erik Anders Lang

After just two years of marriage, Sia has filed for divorce from husband Erik Anders Lang. The singer reportedly filed the papers in LA and cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split. Their decision to divorce comes just a few weeks after they announced their separation with a joint statement to People, saying, "After much soul searching and consideration we have made the decision to separate as a couple. We are, however, dedicated to remaining friends. There will be no further comment." While the pair mostly kept their relationship quiet, they wed back in August 2014 and their last public appearance together was at a Spotify party in LA back in February.

Chocolate-Covered Strawberry Oreos Are Happening Thanks to Target

Oreo has released a chocolate-covered strawberry flavor exclusive to Target, according to Delish.com. The Oreo cookies are filled with a chocolate creme and strawberry creme center, just like a chocolate-covered strawberry. Delish.com reports that the strawberry scent is "overwhelming," but the flavor is "perfectly balanced." We haven't tried them ourselves, but we'll go ahead and make Oreo-stuffed strawberries to tide us over until Target releases this special-edition flavor at a location near us.

ICYMI, Here's What One Direction Was Up to in 2016

When we last saw the boys of One Direction together, they were ripping fans' hearts out with an emotional performance of their last single, "History," on an episode of The X Factor in December 2015. The song (which is about the fans, for the fans, I don't care what anyone else thinks or says) was the perfect pick as the last hurrah for the group before they embarked on their hiatus. If you haven't heard the song or seen the video, check it out and cry along with me before we continue.

I want One Direction forever, but I will support their solo ventures if it comes to that.

At the end of 2015, the boys fed us promises of only going their separate ways for a little while to explore what life has to offer outside the One Direction machine, but I couldn't help but be torn in my emotions. I want them to have a much-deserved break. I want them to do what makes them happy. I want One Direction forever, but I will support their solo ventures if it comes to that. And guess what, pals, it has come to that. We've got three confirmed solo record deals at this point, and, who knows, we could end up with four when all is said and done.

The boys have been busy in 2016. They've been busy doing what they want to do, like vacationing and spending time with friends and even dabbling in some acting. So if you thought that when One Direction parted ways last December that that would be the last you saw of them, you were sorely mistaken. Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne, and Niall Horan are firmly planted in the entertainment industry and made some major moves this year. Scroll through to see the highlights from the past year, but keep a weather eye out for a One Direction reunion down the line. I don't think these boys are done just yet.

And, of course, it goes without mentioning that the singer's MAC Cosmetics collection was a sensation, selling out in mere minutes and causing a frenzy of internet reactions. 5 Reasons You Are a Failure at Applying Your Own Faux Eyelashes

You all tell me that you are incapable of applying false lashes.

You tell me about fiascos with glue and smeared eye makeup that happens right before a date or a party. You show me pictures of yourself on red carpets and at major business functions where your lashes are hanging on by a thread.

I really want you to learn how to apply lashes. Mostly because you deserve to have eyelashes. And secondly, if you know how to do it yourself, then I won't have to.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love how a full set of eyelashes can transform a woman's look. I always encourage my clients, especially those who will be photographed, to have lashes applied. However, if I never had to glue on another lash, I would be thrilled.

Any makeup artist who tells you that he or she enjoys doing lashes is lying to your face.

Any makeup artist who tells you that he or she enjoys doing lashes is lying to your face. We all joined this profession because we love the magic of makeup. We enjoy applying skin care and color to make your features shine. We are artists and we love trying new products and techniques; we love completing a beautiful look; we love the "before" and "after." I don't think any of us are waking up in the morning and saying, "I really can't wait to stick objects slathered in crazy glue into women's eyeballs."

I have a hunch that many of you are all making the same mistakes, which is hindering your ability to apply these lashes properly.

Stop doing these five things and your whole life will change (and maybe mine will, too):

1. You are buying the wrong lashes

The brand doesn't matter as much as the style. Most artists I know regularly use cheap lashes that can be found at the drugstore, so don't worry about spending a lot of money on a luxury lash.

The eyelash section of a store can be very overwhelming as there are so many choices. Don't be tempted by that huge overdramatic pair of lashes. You are probably not ready for those. These heavy lashes look fun, but this whole endeavor can become like "the smoky eye." You like it in theory and you like it on celebrities on Instagram, but probability is high that you won't like it on yourself. Start small.

When you are first learning, it is a good idea to pick up a few inexpensive lashes in different lengths and styles to try to figure out which best suits you. My personal favorite is the Ever EZ Trio lashes by Kiss ($6). They are small little clusters of lashes that you can easily pluck onto your lash line with a pair of tweezers.

The beauty of these is that you can create a natural look with just two clusters or really pile them on for drama. They are easier to manage than a full strip or individuals and you can really hone your craft by practicing with these delights.

2. Your are using the despicable glue that came with the lashes

When you open up your faux lashes, inside you will find a little tube of "lash adhesive." Throw that in the garbage immediately. When you purchase your lashes, you will need to also purchase DUO lash glue($6).

It comes in clear, white, gray, or black. They are all great, but I like the white. You can see it when you are applying the lash and it dries clear. DUO is your insurance that you will not have lashes hanging off of your eyeball at your photo shoot. I have been known to cry, exercise, and shower with great success while wearing lashes adhered with DUO.

3. The glue you're using is cold and thin

The minute you open up your lashes and begin this process, the first thing you should do is squeeze a little puddle of glue onto the plastic lash holder. Let it sit for a minute while you apply eye base to your lid.

The glue needs to warm up and start to congeal a bit. As it thickens it will be easier to manage and it will adhere quicker to your lash line without slipping and sliding all over your lid.

4. You are squirting glue from the tube directly onto your lashes

Don't do this. Work from your little glue puddle using a pointy cotton swab. Dip the swab into the glue and gently coat the band of the lashes with just enough glue to cover it. This will not look like a lot of glue, but it is plenty to get the job done. A common mistake is squirting glue from the tube. You end up with way too much, and again, you will find the lashes slipping and sliding all over the place.

5. You're using your fingers

Once you are an expert, fingers can work fine, but if you are just figuring this all out, using tweezers really helps. The tweezers will help you to gently lift the lashes out of their container without damaging them and then you can easily pop them as close as possible to your natural lash line.

With these five tips you will be in great shape. People ask other questions like, "Should you put on your eye makeup before or after lash application," or "Should you apply mascara to the fake lashes?" There are no rules. Practice different methods and see what works best for you.

One last tip: after all of this hard work to prep for a hot date on a Saturday night, wouldn't it be nice to have these bombshell lashes on for Sunday brunch or maybe even for that Monday morning meeting?

Learn to sleep on your back.

The Style Moves That Defined 2016

While the word "trend" suggests a beginning and an end, fashion folk know better than to say goodbye. Certain looks - from cuts of denim to standout styling tricks - repeat themselves. Even so, it's nice to know where these fads came from. For example, we'll never forget that Twiggy and Edie Sedgwick popularized the tights-and-shift combination in the '60s or that the best place to search for a stretchy wire choker in the '90s was Limited Too.

This year gave rise to a whole bunch of trends (23, that we could count!). Some of the style moves ahead are updated takes on older trends, but most of them we'll date back to this exact year. Read on for a list of reasons 2016 was pretty rad in our book. And if you're in the market for a fresh outfit or two, you've still got time to hop on the bandwagon.

This Story of a Vietnam Vet and His Pit Bull Is the Sweetest Thing You'll Read Today

In the business of animal adoption, it can sometimes be difficult to tell who is really rescuing whom. In the story of Ed Zyer and Polly, it's clear they truly rescued each other.

Polly, a pit bull-pointer mix, was set to be euthanized if she failed to find a home in 10 days. Zyer, a Vietnam veteran, had also been experiencing his share of hardships, battling post-traumatic stress disorder and struggling with symptoms while on medication. After a doctor recommended Zyer give a service dog a try, he and his girlfriend headed to a PetSmart adoption event where fate introduced him to Polly. The pair's immediate connection was obvious - Zyer's girlfriend described their first meeting as being impossible to believe if she hadn't seen it with her own eyes. "Polly wandered over to every single other dog like she was saying goodbye to them, then came over and sat right next to Ed." Polly and Ed successfully completed service dog training together, and have been inseparable ever since.

Ed credits Polly in his strides toward PTSD recovery, specifically citing her ability to curb his anger and road rage. "In my Jeep, when I start screaming and yelling, she'll stick her head on my shoulder and lick my ear and it stops me right there," Zyer said. "PTSD is a pretty rough disease. You have a lot of time on your hands, and there's no one around, and with the help of a dog, it distracts me." Ed recommends all veterans explore the option of therapy dogs, calling them "amazing companions."

This upcoming weekend is the perfect time to find your own animal rescue soulmate. PetSmart Charities is participating in National Adoption Weekend (Sept. 16-18) with adoption events in PetSmart stores across the country, as well as celebrating seven million adoptions and counting. Be sure to share your adopted pet stories by posting photos using the hashtag #iadopted!

This Is Why We're Sure 2017 Will Be Selena Gomez's Best Year Yet

This was a wild year for Selena Gomez. Though the singer and actress started with a world tour to promote her hit album Revival and appeared on every red carpet, including at the Met Gala and the Oscars Vanity Fair party, by the time August rolled around, Selena was ready for a break, saying she wanted to concentrate on caring for herself after her diagnosis of lupus brought on side effects of depression and anxiety.

After 90 days away, a period in which we collectively rooted for Selena, we were happy to see her make her return to the spotlight with an emotional speech at the American Music Awards in November. Now that Selena is healthy and feels strong, we can only expect 2017 to be her best, most in-control year yet. Scroll ahead for our predictions of what we think Selena will be tackling this year.

Keep Your Fridge Fresh by Organizing It Better

Who says you can't start resolutions before the year is over? We've compiled a list of 51 foodie resolutions to check off, including this helpful tip.

Guilty of losing items in your fridge only to find them months later growing fur? Part of avoiding food from growing the all-too-familiar mold is by making sure your fridge is cleanly organized and every item is in plain view. You don't need a fancy fridge to make this happen, but rather take a look at this table that will help you organize your fridge by shelf.

MAIN FRIDGE
SIDE DOOR
On the top shelf, which is usually the tallest, place bottled beverages and a filtered water jug. On the side door's top shelf, place butter and blocks of cheese.
On the second shelf, stack leftovers in plastic containers on one side. On the other side, store deli meat, bread, and eggs in their original container. On the second side door shelf, group small condiments together by type, i.e. jellies and mustards.
On the bottom shelf, store milk, yogurt, sour cream, and cottage cheese on one half. On the other side, store all raw meats. On the third side door shelf, group international condiments like Italian sun-dried tomatoes, olives, and Asian curry pastes.
In the low-humidity drawer, divide and organize fruit by type. Avoid storing dense fruit like apples on top of delicate fruit like berries. In a fourth side door shelf, group larger jars together by type, such as bouillon pastes, miso pastes, nut butters, and pickles.
In a high-humidity (crisper) drawer, divide and organize vegetables by type. Avoid storing dense veggies on top of delicate greens. In the tallest bottom side-door shelf, place tall bottles of condiments including ketchup and soy sauce and any other large juice bottles or nondairy milks.

Why You Should Be Eating Hemp Hearts If You Want to Lose Weight

If you care deeply about your health and want to try a new and delicious food that can help you drop a few pounds, you're going to want to pick up a bag of hemp hearts. These are raw hemp seeds that have the hull or shell removed, leaving a small, soft and chewy, mild-tasting, nutty seed that's easier to digest than hemp seeds. Here are three reasons these tiny gems are not only super nutritious but, as a bonus, can also help you reach your weight-loss goals.

Tiny Seeds, but Huge Protein!

A three-tablespoon serving of raw hemp hearts offers a whopping 10 grams of protein - and hemp seeds offer all nine essential amino acids, making it a complete protein that's also rich in iron, magnesium, and zinc. Protein helps keep energy and blood-sugar levels stable, which helps prevent cravings for high-calorie treats. Since a couple hours between meals tends to be a common crash time, adding hemp hearts to your oatmeal or cereal for breakfast, sprinkling them on your lunchtime sandwich, or making this citrus hemp salad dressing can keep you energized until your next meal, which curbs mindless snacking.

Low in Carbs

If you're trying to cut down on carbs, look to the incredible hemp heart. At only two grams of carbs per three-tablespoon serving and with an addictively chewy texture, they make a great alternative to oats for breakfast - try these hemp overnight oats. Or when noshing on toast or bananas, it's good to know that hemp seed butter is also lower in carbs than both peanut butter and almond butter and lower in calories, too.

Great Source of Healthy Fats

Although hemp seeds aren't a great source of filling fiber, they are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, something your body needs that also contributes to that full feeling. If your hunger is satiated for longer, that equates to eating less, and boom - you lose weight! Throw them into your blender the next time you make a smoothie, or sprinkle them on your yogurt, on cooked whole grains, or even on top of dips like hummus.
