In a new take on the breastfeeding selfie, moms can now transform a beautiful moment of nourishing their child into an equally stunning photo illustration. These unique "Tree of Life" images are going viral as moms across social media are uploading their favorite brelfies to the PicsArt photo editing app and creating these powerful photos in an array of artistic styles.

Many proud moms are using these #TreeofLife masterpieces as a fresh campaign to normalize breastfeeding while others are creating them as a way to show that bottle-feeding moments are just as precious. No matter the intention, these works highlight the beautiful bond between parent and child.

"What we love even more is how these women are editing photos not just for themselves, but as gifts for each other," PicsArt wrote online. "The spirit of collaboration and the celebration of life is definitely something PicsArt supports 100 percent."

This trend is quickly moving beyond breastfeeding into other aspects of a mom's life. "We've also started seeing women create other kinds of beautiful pregnancy art using the same method, overlaying images of babies in the womb over their bumps, as well as bottle-feeding mothers," Nanette Wong, senior social media community manager at PicsArt, told POPSUGAR. "We encourage and support all mothers whether they nurse or not to get creative and express themselves and their experiences."

Each finished image is just as unique as the family and can be created in minutes. Here's how to make your own PicsArt Tree of Life breastfeeding photo:

Why It Took Me 5 Years to Lose 40 Pounds - Don't Make These Mistakes

My weight-loss journey wasn't one of those amazing stories like you see on The Biggest Loser where the pounds just melted off. Oh no. I spent years making the same mistakes over and over, which meant not losing a single pound. If you're on the quest to lose weight, learn from my story on what not to do and how I finally made the shift to where I am today.

Before - Circa 1999

  • Skipping breakfast: I knew I needed to eat less, so I would hold off on eating until I was absolutely famished, which meant nothing until lunchtime. Not only did this slow down my metabolism, but I also ended up feeling so hungry that I ate a much bigger lunch than I normally would have. This weight-loss tactic of mine actually made me gain weight. When I started eating breakfast, the pounds started to drop.
  • Nothing but yoga: When I was overweight, I felt really self-conscious wearing skintight pants in a group fitness class (my gym had huge mirrors), and I felt even worse running outside (it only took one rude comment out of a speeding car about my bouncing chest). Then, a good friend took me to my first yoga class, and I was hooked. The whole environment was so loving and supportive - it didn't matter what I looked like, and no one was looking at me. I started going three times a week but was puzzled that even after a few months, I wasn't losing weight. I didn't realize that not all types of exercise are the same, until another friend suggested I start including cardio. I started with some short 15-minute runs a few times a week, and it was like a light switch turned on. The scale numbers started going down, finally.
  • I was a carb queen: Crackers, bread, cereal, pasta? Sign me up! I loved carbs, and even though I chose the complex variety, they were still carbs. I ate them for every meal and snack, which didn't leave much room for high-fiber fresh fruits and veggies. I finally took a step back and realized that my diet consisted of mostly bread. My belly was not happy, and I ended up going gluten-free for six years. Of course, I didn't do that right either, since I just replaced the carb-loaded foods I normally ate with ones that were gluten-free, but when I started eating more produce, that's when I noticed a change in how my belly felt and looked.
  • Too much of a good thing: I inherited an enormous sweet tooth from my mother, and I knew I had to get that under control (and stop baking!). I started only shopping at health food stores and filled my kitchen with all the healthy foods I could find: cashews, dried mango, fresh juice, peanut butter, whole grains, and hummus. I cut out the cookies and ice cream, but it didn't matter because I never measured a single bite of the foods I was eating. Of course, I gained weight spooning peanut butter from the jar and didn't start losing it until I got a hold of some measuring cups and spoons to see what appropriate portion sizes really looked like.

After - Circa 2008

I was never naturally thin or fit, so when I gained that 40 pounds, I was probably already 10 or more pounds overweight to begin with. My weight-loss journey lasted about five years, much longer than it should have due to the mistakes I kept making. Once I started keeping track of my calorie intake, focusing on fruits, veggies, lean proteins, and whole grains, and was running and doing yoga regularly five times a week, it took about a year, losing a pound a week, to get me to my goal weight.

Being on the healthy path was so fulfilling, not just because it made me feel comfortable in my skin, but I just felt so much more radiant, more energetic. I wanted to share that with others, to help them feel that joy, so I became a yoga instructor in 2000 and a health and fitness writer in 2007.

Today

Even through two pregnancies, I was able to maintain a healthy weight and get back to my prebaby body; it just took time and determination. So don't give up. Stick with your healthy ways, and you'll soon have an "After" picture to show off too.

See If Your Kid Is Going to Sleep at the Right Time Based on This Viral Bedtime Chart

Nearly every parent of a school-age child wonders if they are getting their kids to bed at the right time. Too early, and the little ones goof around and never fall asleep. But too late, and no matter how quickly they drift off, they're still exhausted the next day.

The administrators at Wilson Elementary School in Kenosha, WI, decided to help frustrated parents by providing a bedtime chart based on age and usual wake-up time.

Image Source: Facebook user Wilson Elementary

Turns out, the recommendations were shocking to even the most regimented parents. The chart, which was posted to the school's Facebook page, has been shared more than 360,000 times, and the reason is clear: most every mom has been way off this whole time. (One parent's reaction? "This may be good in theory, but in practice . . . this is garbage.")

Take a look and see if your kid is going to bed at the "right" time.

5 Theories That Could Explain Who Rey's Parents Are in Star Wars

We came away from watching Star Wars: The Force Awakens with more questions than we can count, but the one that hasn't ceased to stop itching our brains since we left the movie theater is the matter of Rey's parents. While the character, played by Daisy Ridley, is unquestionably the hero of Episode VII, much of her past and familial lineage is shrouded in mystery. J.J. Abrams recently shed some light on the topic during an appearance at the Tribeca Film Festival that seems to have ruled out the biggest theories about Rey's parents, saying, "Rey's parents are not in Episode VII, so I can't possibly say in this moment who they are. But I will say it is something that Rey thinks about, too." Is Abrams just trying to throw fans off the scent of Rey's real parents? Keep reading to see our theories on the subject, and please note: major spoilers below!

New Moms: Just Say No to Frequent Visitors Right After Birth

When people hear you're going into labor (and by people I mean friends, family, neighbors, co-workers, etc.), everyone will be dying to meet the brand-new baby. Forget how exhausted you are or if you're recovering from any kind of birth trauma: it's all about the baby. You? No one cares. Sure, maybe a handful of people will ask how you are, but most will push your tired butt aside and say, "Give me that kid!"

It's a sad reality for us moms that no one quite cares how labor went but they do care how the baby is. And who can blame folks for wanting to see your little bundle of joy? Not us! We love them more than the visitors do, but I can guarantee you that the visitors will want to come in droves. You're probably thinking, "Oh sure, I can't wait to have everyone see the baby," but before you start planning visitors to filter in after Junior or Princess arrives, heed my advice carefully.

I personally had no one, and yes, I mean no one, other than her dad and myself, see the baby for the first night she was here. I had my daughter at 6:06 p.m. after 24 hours of labor, five of pushing, and ending with a C-section. I was beat. Our parents didn't arrive until early afternoon the next day, and that was about it for the following few days until I felt ready for visitors and a bit better after my C-section. Why did I put the "no visitors" vibe up? Here's why:

You'll Never Get Those Moments Back Again

It was our first and only child. For those of you with more than one child, consider how differently your post-labor or C-section life was with baby number one . . . and then baby number two. With your first child - and for some of us our only - you'll never get those quiet moments of just mom, dad, and baby again. Even if you have a million kids, don't you want to cherish those first few hours with just your immediate family? The first nursing or feeding. The first time you hold your baby. Do you really need a ton of fanfare, or is it just nice to have some private intimacy when you've brought another being into the world?

I wanted the privacy and time to simply drink in what had just happened: I became a mom. He became a dad. Give us a few hours to cherish these moments before all the noise and craziness of people, opinions, and presents come to shower in on our little world.

Sssh. Let it be quiet. For just a bit.

Nursing

I didn't want anyone to make me anxious or uncomfortable while I was trying to nurse for the first time. Plus, even after the grandparents came, we still kept it quiet with visitors until I could get into a better rhythm - or, in other words, could get my daughter to latch well instead of continuing to latch shallowly so my nipples bled. With fewer people to fawn, fuss, and add their two cents, nursing got off to a good start for me. Yes, we had latch issues, but because I kept the visitors list short, we could work on this with a lactation consultant and my ex-husband could focus on supporting me. I can't tell you how glad I am that we did this. Never once do I think, "Gee, I wish we had more visitors that first week of our child's life!"

Hormones (and Food)

Hello, hormones! Nope, they don't stop. At least not for a while postpartum. The crying and emotional moments? Yeah, I preferred to let those happen in front of people I was close to, namely my husband at the time. Not to mention I had endured hyperemesis gravidarum during my pregnancy and was finally hungry after birth. I wanted to eat and start to feel better while dealing with the crying and mood swings among "my peeps" and not the adoring audience for my daughter.

Plus, who feels superawesome when they're wearing a maxi pad the size of a car, trying to poop, and dealing with bloody nipples and potentially ginormous and superengorged breasts while trying to change a diaper for the first time and waddle around post-C-section or birth? Nobody! It's nice to feel a little crappy and achy and emotional without the whole peanut gallery around.

Routine

It was great to get into a little routine during the time my ex was off from work for the first two weeks of my daughter's life. Scheduling visitors properly helped any disruptions in our new parent routine. It made our lives go more smoothly when he went back to work and I was home by myself as a new stay-at-home mother. Plus, by that time, I was dying for visitors and ready. Do you remember, mommies, what it felt like the first time you took your baby out in the world all by yourself? I do. It felt like a victory just lifting the car seat alone!

No matter what you decide, consider who you want to visit you and when before the baby is here so you have an idea of the amount of chaos you want to invite into your home and hospital - or not. And don't feel bad if you need to say, "Hey, best friend. I am bleeding like a stuck pig and am having a tough time with nursing. Can you see me in another few days?" You don't owe anyone an apology for holding off on visiting. All you need to focus on is your new family member or members!

If You Thought It Was Safe to Take Tylenol While Pregnant, You're Not Going to Like This

For decades, pregnant women have been told that acetaminophen, widely known by the brand name Tylenol, was the only safe pain reliever they could take. Until now. New studies have shown that the drug - also known as paracetamol and used to reduce fever and treat common headaches or muscle pain - could affect the fertility of female babies because it causes them to have fewer eggs than those not exposed to the medicine. According to Daily Mail, it's also been shown to have adverse effects on baby boys by raising the risk of infertility and some cancers.

The study, conducted at the University of Edinburgh's MRC Centre for Reproductive Health, was performed on rats and concluded that taking acetaminophen for just one day had no effect but treatment three times a day for a week caused hormone levels to nearly halve.

Despite the fact that fetal development is slower in humans than in rats, study coauthor Richard Sharpe believes there are substantial similarities between the two reproductive systems.

For those women pregnant and uncertain of what they should do, Adam Balen, chairman of the British Fertility Society, said it best: "This is an interesting study of long-term use of paracetamol in pregnant rats and so, whilst we must be cautious extrapolating to humans, it is sensible for pregnant women to minimise use of paracetamol and other painkillers and seek medical advice if they experience problems with significant pain in pregnancy."

16 Gina Rodriguez Quotes That Will Inspire You to Follow Your Dreams

The minute Gina Rodriguez, star of Jane the Virgin, finished that 2015 Golden Globes speech after winning the statue for best actress in a comedy series, she was named the "next big thing" in Hollywood. The Puerto Rican beauty is talented, beautiful, and so funny, but what captured our hearts was her shining smile, infectious charm, and delightful attitude, not to mention incredible self-awareness.

She often credits her parents and intense work ethic for making her childhood dreams come true and often gives advice to fans on how to do it too. She is not shy when it comes to discussing her upbringing and the industry's portrayal of Latinos on TV and in movies, saying in an interview with Cosmopolitan, "acting is how I'll be able to change how Latinos are viewed in media and change how little girls see and talk about themselves." But it doesn't end there - Gina is a fountain of inspiring words. Keep reading to get just a few empowering quotes that will make you love her even more, then find out what she said was the best advice she ever got.

Natalie Portman Wears Jackie Kennedy's Wardrobe Like a True Style Icon

More than anything, we are looking forward to seeing a talented actress like Natalie Portman portray a woman as strong as Jackie Kennedy. The costumes, brought to life by French costume designer Madeline Fontaine, are just the icing on the cake. But Jackie is remembered as a fashion icon for a reason: the first lady's wardrobe was an integral part of her persona.

Tailored suits meant she was sophisticated; pillbox hats meant she was always accessorized, polished, and prepared; and her signature sunglasses meant she could protect herself. It's no wonder she refused to strip out of her iconic pink suit after John F. Kennedy's assassination - that is, until she was ready.

There might be no better leading lady to play Jackie than Natalie, and it's clear the film star's already got the Kennedy look down pat. Just read on to see how uncanny the resemblance is between two women who lived in different times but are equal in style and poise.

8 At-Home Remedies Your Grandma Swears by That Actually Work

Readers, it's time to thank your grandma. Those crazy Latin at-home remedies she showered on you when you were under the weather might have actually worked. In fact, Dr. Keith Roach, associate professor of clinical medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine in New York City, says that even the rituals that don't have any scientific backing could work - just because you believe in them. "The placebo effect is powerful," he said.

While there are certain Latin cures the doctor advises you should skip when you're sick (like anything involving raw egg, which can carry salmonella, or a shot of alcohol, which can actually be dangerous to your liver during certain illnesses), he weighed in on why some of the most popular get-better-soon treatments that your grandma used actually, truly work. Keep reading to find the list, then check out the family beauty treatments that you should be trying.

Kate Middleton and Prince William Join Queen Elizabeth For Sunday Service

Kate Middleton and Prince William appeared to be in good spirits when they stepped out for morning church service at St. Mary Magadalene in England on Sunday. The couple bundled up for the cold weather, and were joined by Prince Carl Philip and Queen Elizabeth II, whose health concerns have been at the center of news recently. Noticeably missing, though, was Prince Harry, who is currently enjoying a romantic vacation in Norway with girlfriend Meghan Markle. The couple reportedly set two nights aside to see the Northern Lights, and went on fun excursions, including whale watching and husky sledding. Now that Meghan and Harry have finally been photographed together, hopefully they'll make their official debut as a couple soon.

But work your oversize flannel with boyfriend jeans and must-have loafers for brunch, and you're off-duty chic.

Your PJs keep you warm when it's cold, and when they come in satin or silk, they definitely up the fancy factor - even at the airport a la Kate Beckinsale. Whether you prefer long robes or you're more of a slip girl, we've gleaned 12 tips from the celebrities ahead. Their memorable outfits will help you try out the trend for yourself, and we've gathered plenty of pieces to help you do so.

The Unexpected Reason I Wanted a Baby Girl

Before we begin, I want to warn you: this isn't one of those essays about how I wanted a girl, found out I was having a boy, cried for weeks, and then realized that having a son was the greatest gift of all. No - this is about how I wanted a girl and how I got what I wanted.

More than a year ago, when I looked down at a positive pregnancy test, I endured less than a minute of the initial holy-crap-we-are-having-a-baby shock before the thought crept into my head: "I hope it's a girl."

In the weeks that followed, my desire for a baby girl only got stronger. I preemptively googled those old wives' tales to see if I exhibited the signs that I was carrying one. And like an overgeneralized horoscope, I'd read into every scenario, convinced it was written for me to the point that I was oddly pleased with a massive breakout on my chin - unsightly, yes, but it was a clear indication that "girls steal their mother's beauty." And I even became superstitious about the predictors that didn't line up: I'd buy a tub of Häagen-Dazs at the grocery store whether I wanted it or not because cravings for sweets meant I was having a girl.

Meanwhile, I tempered my fantasies in front of others. When someone asked about my preference, I'd feign befuddlement. "Oh, I haven't even had time to think about that!" Or I'd pretend not to care at all. "You know, just as long as it's healthy!"

But then came the big reveal - our 20-week ultrasound appointment. When the technician announced she knew the sex, my brain whirred. In that instant, I tried to imagine what would happen if the news didn't go my way, how I'd have to fake elation and learn to get over it - a harrowing task considering I have a hard time getting over bad service at a restaurant. Then she announced it: "You're having a girl!"

I couldn't contain my relief. "YESSSS!" came out of my mouth with the same veracity as a baseball fan whose team just won the World Series. My OB was taken aback. "Wow, you must really like pink."

Her presumptuous statement caught me off guard. Because I wanted a girl, I must be into fairies and unicorns and dresses covered in hearts and flowers? I took offense to her insinuation that I aligned with such a flagrant gender stereotype. I'm not girlie, I don't particularly like pink, I've never successfully braided another person's hair, and I'm not inherently excited about Disney princesses. (Full disclosure, though: I did own an American Girl doll, but it was Molly, which is the equivalent of not having an American Girl doll at all.)

So why, then, had I been crossing my fingers this whole time for a girl?

I started to worry. The closest I come to art-and-crafts projects is my Pinterest board, so I wouldn't be able to teach my daughter to sew or crochet. I'm a slice-and-bake cook at best, so it's not like I was looking forward to passing down any carefully crafted family recipes. Conversely, it's not as if I had high expectations of raising a proud tomboy, for I was hopeless at sports and wouldn't have the know-how to coach her little league team.

I could never quite put my finger on why having a girl was so important, so essential, until I gave birth and met her for the first time.

It was only then that I realized that having a girl, for me, meant re-creating my childhood. I could watch my daughter grow and at the same time look back on my own long-forgotten memories. Her firsts could stand in for mine. Having a girl also meant re-creating the relationship I have with my own mother. So when she's no longer here, she'll still be with me. I'll be able to stand in for her. I could be for my daughter what my mother was for me. I could raise my own best friend.

Which now makes me want my girl to have a girl someday, too.

Where Are Chokers Going For 2017?

ASOS started selling velvet chokers for men, Matt Lauer modeled one on the Today show, and now everyone has an opinion on whether this look is cool or just strange on guys. If we bring it back to fashion and the runway, however, there's no denying the choker was a focal accessory, popping up in the Spring 2017 collections of Louis Vuitton and Gucci at menswear fashion week. Leather, mixed metals, and even bandana versions made appearances on the catwalk.

It should not be a surprise that chokers have drifted over to the men, given that they were the It accessories for ladies this past year. Stars from Kendall Jenner to Rihanna wore the '90s look with their outfits, and it took over street style to the point of near exhaustion. This made us question whether everyone was finally ready to retire the choker trend in the New Year. Would it still be as popular? It seems ASOS (and maybe Lauer) has solved a small piece of the puzzle: the choker is still in but, perhaps, more so for the guys.

Though we don't know if our SOs will start copying the look anytime soon, we do know that guys have always rocked chokers. Brad Pitt wore a beaded one to the Emmy Awards in 2000, while your favorite O.C. cutie Ben McKenzie donned one on the show. So men wearing chokers in 2017? It's really no big deal. If you like it, wear it. The accessory isn't bound to any gender, and it's a trend repeating itself for both ladies and men.

If you need further proof, read on to see some runway images and check out guys who have worn chokers in the past. Then, maybe shop one for the man in your life.

This Is What Solved My Extreme Bloating Problem That 4 Doctors Couldn't Figure Out

A lot of things changed when I moved to San Francisco. I was much colder. I bought my first real jacket. I tried Philz Coffee for the first time. I started a new job. And, out of nowhere, my stomach started ballooning arbitrarily throughout the week making me look three-to-six-months pregnant at any given moment, for no apparent reason.

Things that didn't change: my diet, my exercise routine (OK, I started doing a lot more SoulCycle), and my overall health. I wasn't eating more food or less healthy food, so I knew it wasn't weight gain . . . especially when my pregnant-looking belly would mysteriously disappear by morning, and I was back to a flat stomach. But sometime during the day, I'd eat a peach or go to a cardio workout, and BAM: back to bloat. Biiiig bloat. I would snap photos to send to my mom (as you'll see below) because I couldn't believe what was happening to me, and I was horrified.

For 11 months, I wasn't comfortable with my body. I couldn't wear fitted clothing (aka, ALL of my activewear), because I knew at some point, my lower abdomen would jet out, and anyone who didn't know me would assume I was with child. I've been so afraid to eat, because I knew that anything could trigger my stomach, from a piece of fruit to a sip of sports drink. Yet then there would be days when I said "eff it!" and ate Cinnamon Toast Crunch and milk, and nothing happened. It made absolutely no sense.

I've never felt more more ashamed of my appearance, or more uncomfortable in my own skin . . . and I'm even ashamed to admit that! My body simply didn't feel like mine. And the worst part was that it didn't seem like there was an explanation or end in sight.

I never intended for these photos to see the light of day, but this is what I looked like end-of-day versus the next morning. I know my room is a mess. This was truly only supposed to be for my mom (she's mad about the mess, too).

I saw so many doctors and went through so many labs; my initial appointment was to see if it was hormonal. It wasn't. I saw an OB-GYN. I had two ultrasounds. I tried the low-FODMAPS diet (it didn't go well). I had my blood tested for a thyroid imbalance. My doctors were stumped, and I was frustrated to the point of many angry tears.

For 11 months, I wasn't comfortable with my body . . . I've never felt more more ashamed of my appearance."

Two glimmers of hope seemed to come at once: my doctor referred me to a phenomenal GI, and one of my close friends referred me to an acupuncturist and naturopathic doctor here in the city. Although I had been through so many appointments and tests already with no results, I tried to remain optimistic. And these were still two avenues I hadn't tried!

First up was my acupuncture visit with Dr. Magnolia Ng of Advance Health SF, and then my GI appointment with gastroenterologist, Dr. Daniel Conlin. Two very different doctors from very different backgrounds seemed to know the source immediately: stress. It was the first time anyone had brought up the idea that something mental could trigger such a strong physical reaction, but they both seemed certain. Stress was the one factor that did come into play when I moved. Long-distance move to a new city, new job, new everything equals one stressed out me. I didn't even notice because everything has been so go-go-go.

Dr. Conlin didn't cut any corners in his approach, and he didn't just write me off saying, "you're stressed, just calm down!" and send me on my way after collecting a copay. He tested my blood and breath for celiac, SIBO, h. pylori, IBD, and post-infection bacterial overgrowth (everything came back negative). He asked me to eliminate dairy, despite the fact that he didn't really think I was lactose intolerant. He went through so many avenues, but kept coming back to the idea that it was probably stress-induced. I asked him if I was a "freak case" or if he had seen this in other patients, and he said, "You're definitely not alone; I see this in many young women your age, typically high-achieving, A-type college grads who work here [in San Francisco] in some kind of fast-paced tech or startup company." It was like he read my bio. He knew. I knew. It was stress.

Exhibit B of the stress bloating and the next morning's mystical disappearance. I swear I'm not usually this messy.

What I appreciated most about Dr. Conlin was his approach to treatment. He said if it was a celiac or SIBO case, he'd have different recommendations, but for me, he thought acupuncture, charcoal tablets, ginger root, and ginger tea, and specifically Align probiotics would be helpful in my treatment (he noted that it's the only brand he recommends, so I went with it). His openness to natural treatment despite coming from a Western background increased my trust in him and made me more comfortable in my health journey.

It was hard to explain to family and friends that stress was causing arbitrary abdominal distention, so I wanted to learn more. Apparently, an influx of stress can upset the microbiome (the ecosystem of good and bad bacteria in your gut, which can influence nearly all areas of your health). I spoke with Amie Valpone, nutritionist and founder of TheHealthyApple.com, who gave me some incredible insight as to what has been happening in my body. "Having too much non-beneficial bacteria in your gut has been linked to many health issues such as heart disease, fibromyalgia, eczema, asthma, depression, cancer, autoimmunity, allergies, obesity, autism, and allergies," she said . . . and in my case, inexplicable abdominal distention.

"We are so caught up in our busy lives that we don't realize how stressed out we are - that's when the health issues start to appear out of nowhere."

"When our microbiome is out of balance from stress, we get an imbalance of non-beneficial bacteria such as yeasts, parasites, and bad bacteria that take over and make us feel bloated, tired, and bring along a host of unwanted symptoms that range from person to person."

She went on to say that "change in diet, travel, processed foods, and stress from work, our family, friends, and so forth," can trigger this imbalance, but "we are so caught up in our busy lives that we don't realize how stressed out we are - that's when the health issues start to appear out of nowhere." It was amazing to hear those words of affirmation, because that's exactly what I had experienced. It was totally out of nowhere, and I truly had been so caught up in my busy life.

My gut was off thanks to stress, which caused the inexplicable bloating (that couldn't be attributed to anything I was eating) and the mission now was to use different natural remedies together to restore balance and get me out of a place of stress (that's a work in progress, honestly). "The goal is to address the underlying root cause of why your gut is imbalanced in the first place, instead of covering up your symptoms with a Band-Aid approach," said Amie. "That's where food, stress, mind-body practices, and probiotics come into play."

Dr. Ng had an additional approach to pair with my acupuncture treatments for both stress and energy blockages in my abdomen: Chinese herbs. She prescribed and gave me a bottle of Mu Xiang Shun Qi Pian, or "BloatEase," to take three times a day. "Emotional upset such as frustrations or worry, overwork, and a constitutional or genetic weakness can make a person prone to digestive disorders," she told me. The herbs and the acupuncture were intended to set things right again. She also mentioned to me the importance of using both traditional Eastern medicine in combination with Western medicine - and my recovery has been a testament to that.

The combination of treatment has been absolutely life changing for me. The Chinese herbs, probiotics, and acupuncture treatment (along with continuing to eat a balanced diet, getting enough sleep, and staying on my workout schedule) has helped restore my body to its natural shape. The bloating is going away, even though I still have to work on de-stressing. When it does happen, the bloating has decreased in size, severity, discomfort, and frequency, and I'm finally starting to feel comfortable with my body again.

What did I learn from all this? For one, Western and Eastern medicine aren't mutually exclusive, and in fact, when they're used together, they've got a symbiotic, 360 approach that can be even more effective than if either were used on their own.

I've also learned to advocate for my health. If you're not getting answers, don't give up. Make another appointment. Bug your doctor. Ask for another referral. Don't take no for an answer. The world of healthcare is freaking nuts, and if you don't advocate for yourself, no one else will. I got pretty lucky in the way that my doctors were really helpful and responsive when I pushed, but I still had to jump through a lot of hoops to get the treatment I needed. Don't be intimidated, don't give up, and most of all, don't stress. A solution is out there for you, too.

The Gucci Piece to Buy For 2017 Goes With Every Outfit You'll Ever Wear

Think back to the last time you wore a belt. If you can't, same here. It's one of those accessories that gets more wear on the hooks of our closet than around our actual waist. But, that's about to all change when you see the Gucci logo belt. Bloggers are already wearing it, of course, and they just gave us some fresh inspiration on how to style the iconic piece.

You can loop it around the waistband of your jeans with a tucked sweater or use it to cinch in your boho dress. Regardless of how you wear it, the eye-catching, but not flashy, logo provides the right punch to an outfit. Heck, it even looks good with a t-shirt and sneakers. The accessory is such a simple piece that can be magically dressed up or down hundreds of ways, which is why we love it.

We say the Gucci fur loafers had a good run, because the belt is the piece you should invest in for 2017. Read on for some smart style inspo, then add one to your cart.

8 Things You Need to Know About Millennial Moms

As parents, we often shake our heads at "kids these days" - millennials who would rather stare at the screen of their iPhone than the person sitting across from them at the dinner table, and who, because they got trophies just for showing up, have come to expect the same accolades at their first jobs out of school.

We shudder to think: what happens when those kids become parents?

Well, for starters, it's already happening. Those millennials - widely recognized as people born between 1980 and the early 2000s - have not simply taken over the workforce, surpassing Generation Xers for the first time. According to an analysis of new US Census Bureau data, they're now taking over as parents. Roughly one in five moms is a millennial, and they now account for almost 90 percent of the 1.5 million new mothers within the last year. To put it another way, there are nine million of them raising kids as we speak.

Thankfully, all is not lost for future generations. In fact, most millennial moms don't want to raise their children the same way they were brought up. They want to be more involved than baby boomers, for whom "parenting" wasn't even yet a verb, but they want to hover a little less than those helicopter moms of Gen X. Just as they believe in a diverse portfolio of social media accounts, they are aiming to employ aspects of many different child-raising philosophies in their homes. They see a happy median between baby-wearing, organic-puree-making moms and free-range parents who don't believe in boundaries.

Not only that, but millennial moms are becoming more prevalent in the landscape of modern parenting, and more powerful as well, as companies around the globe begin marketing directly to them.

Here, some of the most intriguing facts about the rise of the millennial mom - and for those parents in their late 20s and early 30s, we're looking at you . . .

NASA's Images of Mars Are the Next Best Thing to Space Travel

We may not all be able to experience Mars firsthand, but NASA's newly released photos are the next best thing. NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) recently sent back a large batch of over 1,000 images of the planet's surface, and they are stunning.

It's not the first time the MRO sent back photos; we started receiving them in 2005 when it first set out for signs of water. However, the high delivery of images occurs only every 26 months when the sun and Mars are standing opposite of each other, reports Gizmodo.

Luckily for us, the High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment catalog has a total of over 44,000 images of Mars so far. See some of the best recent photos of Mars ahead!
