During His Final Days in Office, President Obama Ended This 1 Cuban Immigration Policy
In one of his final changes as the president of the United States, Barack Obama has ended the 1995 "wet foot, dry foot" policy granting Cubans who arrive in the United States without a visa a permanent resident status. The two-decade-long policy, applying only to Cubans, said that if someone was caught in the water migrating to the United States (with "wet feet"), they would be sent back to Cuba, but those who made it to land (with "dry feet") would be allowed to stay in the country.
By ending this exemption for Cuban migrants, which is effective immediately, Obama wants to give all people the same opportunities to become a citizen in the United States and discourage Cubans from making the dangerous and illegal trip to the US by water.
"By taking this step, we are treating Cuban migrants the same way we treat migrants from other countries," Obama said in a statement on Jan. 12. "The United States, a land of immigrants, has been enriched by the contributions of Cuban-Americans for more than a century. Since I took office, we have put the Cuban-American community at the center of our policies. With this change we will continue to welcome Cubans as we welcome immigrants from other nations, consistent with our laws."
The statement also says that "the Cuban government has agreed to accept the return of Cuban nationals who have been ordered removed, just as it has been accepting the return of migrants interdicted at sea."
Check out the full statement from President Obama's administration here.

Meet Sturgill Simpson, the Country Singer Going Up Against Beyoncé and Adele at the Grammys
Looking over the 2017 Grammy nominees, you'll see names like Adele, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Sia, and Ariana Grande. Then, there's Sturgill Simpson. While he's well-known in the country genre, he's not a household name - yet. Not only is he going up against Adele, Beyoncé, Justin Bieber, and Drake for album of the year (in addition to country album of the year), he's the musical guest on Saturday Night Live this weekend. That said, it's time to get to know the singer!
While Kentucky-born Simpson formed his first band, Sunday Valley, in 2004, he gained critical attention with his solo album, High Top Mountain, released in 2013. His second album, 2014's Metamodern Sounds in Country Music, did even better, peaking at No. 11 on Billboard's Top Country Albums list. A Sailor's Guide to Earth, the album that earned Simpson his Grammy nomination, was released in April and has been climbing the charts. One of the biggest hits of the album is Simpson's cover of Nirvana's "In Bloom." Listen:
Pretty good, eh? We look forward to seeing more from Simpson, and I'm sure we will if he ends up besting the likes of Keith Urban and Loretta Lynn for best country album! (If Bey or Adele don't take album of the year, there will be rioting in the streets.)
Candice Swanepoel Wore a Bikini We Haven't Seen in Awhile, but It's Still Just as Good
It wasn't too long before Candice Swanepoel slipped back into a bikini. The VS angel kicked off the first month of the new year by posting a sweet snapshot of her holding her son while wearing a black bikini. The scalloped style was one we haven't seen since Summer, when fellow VS model Behati Prinsloo rocked one too. It's nice to see Candice bringing it back for 2017, though, which is why we included a few similar shoppable options too.

There's even a hint of all that drama from the book! To recap, we thought we'd pull out GIFs of the best moments, so you can live them over and over again until Valentine's Day.
The 1 Thing Camila Alves Does to Keep Her Family's Hectic Mornings Under Control
Just watching Camila Alves describe the whirlwind of chaos that comes with getting three kids ages 8 and under - Levi, 8, Vida, 7, and Livingston, 4 - ready for school each morning is enough to leave you gasping for air. With her hands rapidly moving through the air, her tempo dramatically increases as she talks about her family's morning routine and the steps she's taken to bring some order to the mayhem. "I have a wild 4-year-old so I don't know what's going to happen," she says. "I have no choice. When I don't [follow my routine], trust me, it's not worth it."
Her routine is one that moms everywhere can follow to make their mornings run more smoothly. It involves making sure the kids get a good night's sleep and going to bed at a consistent time each night ("If not, it doesn't matter what tricks you have, they're not going to work," she advises); picking out their clothes the night before ("Set [them] up away from the closet and away from their drawers where they can change their mind."); packing their bags the night before ("They get the autonomy of doing it themselves and that creates that habit of preparing for things."); and making their lunches and filling their water bottles the night before.
It's such prep work that keeps the Alves-McConaughey family running smoothly. Camila spends most of the day each Sunday cooking and preparing meals for the week. It isn't because she loves cooking (which she does), but it's because she's in survival mode during the week. "Is it a pain in the behind that you sit there for almost half a day prepping stuff like that? Yes," she says. "But it makes your whole week so easy. I'm here [in Las Vegas] now, so I cooked yesterday. I left them what's for dinner tonight. Matthew can now go and put it together himself."
Matthew is Academy Award-winning actor Matthew McConaughey. It was Matthew's film schedule that led Camila to her latest venture, Yummy Spoonfuls brand of frozen organic baby foods. "It really started from frustration," she explains. "We were in Calgary, in the middle of nowhere, living in a trailer, and I was making baby food at three in the morning. Bowls of purées were everywhere. The little kitchen was filled up with dishes to wash. I was trying to figure out the flavors, making little pouches, and I thought, 'Baby's going to wake up for a next feed in a few and in the morning I'm going to have all three kids on my own and I'm not getting any sleep. Why is it so hard to open the freezer door and find the most pure form of food?'"
After some research, a friend put her in touch with Agatha Achindu who had already been working on the Yummy Spoonfuls brand, but had yet to take it national. The two joined forces and before long, the pouches of pure organic purées made their way to the freezer section at Target. "We do it just like you do at home," Camila says. "We start with real fruits and vegetables. We lightly cook them. Then we purée, then we freeze them. Just like homemade. We're making homemade food without the mess."
Though all of her kids still eat the purées (Vida's favorite flavor, pear, will soon be added to the line), they're also big fans of mom's Brazilian traditions. She shares many of those recipes, like her slow-cooker version of Brazilian-style Chicken Stroganoff and Pão de Queijo on her Women of Today site.
Camila indulged us in answering POPSUGAR Moms's questionnaire:
POPSUGAR: What's your go-to quick family dinner that everyone will eat?

If You're a Fan of A Series of Unfortunate Events, You're Going to Love the Theme Song
If I told you to make up a theme song that would perfectly represent A Series of Unfortunate Events, well, you'd probably have no idea how to do that, but if you did, it might sound something like the opening number for Netflix's new series. Neil Patrick Harris, who stars in the show as Count Olaf, sings the tune, which warns viewers to "look away," a recurring theme in the books. After all, why would you want to expose yourself to such an atrocious story? "Atrocious" is a word that here means "disastrous, rotten, and ultimately terrible." Please enjoy!

Lamar Odom Admits He Wants Khloé Kardashian Back in His Interview With The Doctors
Lamar Odom checked himself out of rehab in early January after a one-month stay to work on his "mental and physical health." It seems like the former LA Lakers player is taking all the right steps to maintain his sobriety after his nearly fatal overdose in a Nevada brothel in October 2015, but it seems that his completion of rehab is only one small part of it. Lamar, who struggled to deal with his "demons" during his marriage to Khloé Kardashian from 2009 until 2013, will also open up about everything from his drug use to his relationship with the Kardashian family in an upcoming interview on The Doctors, which will air in full on Jan. 17. In a clip from the episode, Lamar admits that he was "in a dark place" before the brothel incident, and that he had no idea he had been in a coma until Khloé told him. In another clip, he reveals that he wants to patch things up with Khloé, saying, "I want my wife back." No matter what happens with the exes, Lamar seems dedicated to his two children, Lamar Jr. and Destiny.
Kendall Jenner Wore Her Airport Pants All Over Town Then Straight Onto the Plane
Joggers are a practical option for a plane ride: they're comfy, warm, and stretchy. When we spotted Kendall Jenner in a brown pair at JFK, however, we knew that her joggers weren't just any airport pants - the velvet material added a trendy touch to her casual outfit - and completely changed the game. She styled the bottoms with lace-up boots and a matching brown top, covering up with an oversize denim jacket for a street-style-worthy outfit. Something Kendall probably kept in mind as she walked around NYC. Prior to her flight, Kendall was spotted around town - including a nightclub - in her velvet joggers. It appears the model found the perfect pair of bottoms to wear around town then straight on to the plane. No changing required.
Challenge Accepted: How 1 Dude Beautified Like a Woman
Countless evenings at my Chicago apartment tend to play out the same way: I take roughly 10 minutes to get ready to go out and then proceed to wait nearly an hour as my wife of 17 months, Johanna, makes herself look (even more) beautiful. Mine is not a unique story: it's a long-known fact that women tend to spend far more time beautifying than men. And when Valentine's Day date night rolls around, that divide only increases.
Since my wife and I planned a fancy dinner at a supertrendy Asian fusion restaurant for V-Day, I wanting to look extradapper for the occasion. So when POPSUGAR Beauty challenged me to, essentially, get ready like a woman, I eagerly accepted. Plus, I secretly wanted to know what women go through behind the closed doors of a spa. (And I'd be lying if I said I didn't also believe that the whole ordeal might enhance my mental and physical well-being.) After 10-plus hours and more than $1,000 spent on facials, body scrubs, waxes (shudder!), and much more from some of the finest Chicago-area spas, I finally felt like I understood my wife, the other females in my life, and - perhaps - even myself better. But there's only one real question: did I survive waxing my groin? Keep reading . . .
Selena Gomez Is Wearing the 1 Graphic Sweater You'll Want to Buy This Spring
Now that Selena Gomez is back in the spotlight, we're getting more of that revival style she embraced in 2016. The "Kill Em With Kindness" singer's glam team, including makeup artist Hung Vanngo, hairstylist Marissa Marino, and fashion stylist Christian Classen, took to Instagram to post a snap of Selena behind the scenes what we have deducted is her first Coach campaign shoot - all of them used the hashtag #secretproject.
Though what catches your eye the most in the photo above is no doubt Selena's new short hair and her covetable nude matte lipstick, we couldn't peel our eyes off her red sweater. We knew we had seen it somewhere, and after a few minutes of racking our brain, we realized Selena, who made news this week for her kissing spree with singer The Weeknd and a racy seminude photo, is wearing a sweater from Coach's upcoming Spring 2017 collection, featuring a shark graphic design. If this was one of the pieces you wanted to get your hands on next season, now that Selena is sporting it, it's sure to become a must have! Scroll ahead to check out a photo of the top on the runway, and find a few cheaper options to steal her shark-attack style.

Dakota Johnson is on the cusp of having yet another huge year. The sequel to Fifty Shades of Grey, Fifty Shades Darker, is already driving people wild a month ahead of its release date (Feb. 10, mark your calendars), meaning there's going to be Dakota mania upon us before you know it. This Woman Took Down Anyone Who Thinks Childcare Workers Just Wipe Snot
Chloe Chant is a childcare worker and although dealing with snot is a typical part of her day, she is shocked to learn that not everyone understands this is a minimal part of her job.
After this Australian woman heard a politician mistakenly equate what she does for families daily as little more than "wiping noses and stopping kids from killing each other," she wrote an open letter on Facebook directed at Senator David Leyonhjelm to set the record straight. Leyonhjelm made these televised remarks while explaining his opposition for a new childcare package and although Chloe's response is long, so are her days doing so much more than this man seems to realize.
Dear Senator Leyonhjelm,Three weeks ago I stopped everything and spent an entire day of my personal, unpaid time creating documents to be used in court for a family in the middle of a child custody hearing. . . . The next day I went to work and wiped a lot of noses.
Two weeks ago I identified behaviors that indicated possible child sexual abuse. I talked to the child, I talked to parents, I consulted research and theory, I completed Mandatory Reporting requirements, I cried - a lot.
. . . And I managed to stop the children killing each other. This week I held a baby as he experienced febrile convulsions. I cooled him, reassured him, called an ambulance, called the mother, comforted the hysterical mother, evacuated the other children, kept airways open. I provided first aid that could have prevented brain damage or death. I spent four hours filling out legal documentation, paperwork, reflections, and analysis.
. . . And I wiped some noses. On Monday I completed a set of observations, learning summaries and analyses that culminated in a recommendation that a child be assessed for learning delay. I sat there sweating and feeling nauseated while waiting for the parents to arrive for a meeting to discuss this. I was yelled at, screamed at, accused of being an insensitive, unprofessional bitch, and then they cried, and then I hugged them, and then I talked them through all the support and strategy I was going to offer to help them and their child.
. . . And, to my knowledge, I managed to let zero paedophiles into my service. On Wednesday I said goodbye to a family who were moving on from our service. They thanked me for the support, the documentation, the planning, the individual observations, the learning analyses, the patience, the help in times of crisis, the emotional investment and countless episodes of first aid treatments in times of emergency.
. . . And, I wiped some noses.
. . . And changed nappies.
. . . And set up experiences.
. . . And prepared lunches.
. . . And mopped floors.
. . . And mediated conflicts.
. . . And attended staff meetings.
. . . And managed resources.
. . . And taught self-help skills.
. . . And helped children toilet training.
. . . And was spewed on by babies.
. . . And cleaned up vomit.
. . . And raked the garden.
. . . And helped multiple babies sleep.
. . . And taught pre-literacy skills.
. . . And expanded the vocabularies of the children.
. . . And introduced the concept of nuclear fission.
. . . And explained the fundamentals of DNA.
. . . And explained where babies come from.
. . . And described the purpose of the dendrites on nerve cells.
. . . And I wiped more noses.
That was Wednesday.I did this for just over 20 bucks an hour.
Should you need any advice regarding the REAL responsibilities of a childcare worker - or should you need your nappy changed – I am only too happy to render assistance. Despite your comments, my role is to educate, and nothing would please me more than to educate one of my esteemed parliamentary representatives.

2 Unexpected Cameos on A Series of Unfortunate Events Are a Game Changer
Warning: spoilers for the first episode below!
After months of waiting, Netflix's A Series of Unfortunate Events finally premiered on Friday the 13th (apt, don't you think?), and there's a lot to love. Neil Patrick Harris gives an inspired performance as the show's greasy villain, Count Olaf, and newcomers Malina Weissman and Louis Hynes (who play Violet and Klaus Baudelaire) are a delight. At the end of the first episode, we also get a pleasant surprise in the form of two unexpected guest stars: Will Arnett and Cobie Smulders, who pop up as Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire's missing parents.
Episode one starts off with the brilliant Baudelaire children being informed that they're orphans now after their mansion burns down, with their doting mother and father - Bertrand (Arnett) and Beatrice (Smulders) - presumably perishing in the blaze. They're sent to live with Count Olaf, a distant relative whose only goal is to get his hands on the Baudelaire family fortune. Not only is he violent, but he forces them to cook and clean for him and his band of cronies and makes the three of them share a dirty, decrepit bedroom. In other words, it's just as unfortunate as the show's title might suggest. At the conclusion of the first episode is a ray of hope for the siblings, however, when it's revealed to the audience that the Baudelaires' beloved parents are alive after all. The only catch? The final scene shows them handcuffed in the back of a van. "I'm worried about the children," Beatrice says, before telling her husband that they need to escape. The car zooms off into the night, and we're left wondering if the family will ever reunite.
This, as any longtime fan of the series can attest, is a huge departure from Lemony Snicket's novels. Although it's never technically made clear, only one of the Baudelaire parents is rumored to have survived the original fire. Convincing theories seem to point to their mother, Beatrice, but note that she likely died soon afterward, sometime between books two and 12, The Reptile Room and The Penultimate Peril. The cause of her death is supposedly still fire, except instead of the one that destroyed the Baudelaire mansion, it was the blaze at the Duchess of Winnipeg's castle. The children never see either of their parents again, but they do hold out hope for quite some time due to suggestive information in the Snicket File.
Regardless of whether or not you're on board with the change, we have to imagine that Smulders and Arnett will definitely keep things interesting. Here's hoping we (as well as Violet, Klaus, and Sunny) get another glimpse of them soon.

"I cannot just live on like, 'I lost my husband, my children have no father,'" she told the publication. "I have to stand tall and strong because this is my way of living: stand tall, be positive, pick your battles, do the best you can and to live for today, not for tomorrow, for today, and know nothing is perfect, not everything you want will happen." Judging from the sweet photos she shared, Celine and her boys have plenty of wonderful Christmases in their future.

Golden Milk: The Antidepressant, Debloating, Weight-Loss-Boosting Wonder Drink
Ready to simmer down and give your body a boost before bedtime? We've got the perfect, healthy nightcap for you, and you may have heard of it: golden milk.
Used for centuries in Ayurvedic medicine, golden milk is a combination of the powerful spice turmeric, coconut milk, and sometimes coconut oil. Black pepper is often added (in small amounts) to increase the bioavailability of (i.e., your body's ability to absorb) the superspice turmeric. Creamy and spicy, soothing and warm - this delicious drink is more than just a tasty treat. Rich in electrolytes and digestive-aiding properties, your body is going to love every sip.
- Benefits of Turmeric: Turmeric's benefits are so good, one 2013 study said it's almost too good to be true. The anti-inflammatory spice has "shown therapeutic potential against a number of human diseases," including cancer and could even help with Alzheimer's. Because of the reduced inflammation, turmeric can also help with gas, bloating, and digestive discomfort, and some studies have mentioned its help with weight loss. Also, some studies and sites have shown that turmeric has antidepressant properties, leading to better moods, less stress, better sleep, and improved brain health.
- Benefits of Coconut Oil: Similarly, coconut oil can help with digestion and gut health, thanks to its antimicrobial properties (which come from good fatty acids, MCFAs). The healthy fats can also raise your good cholesterol, HDL.
- Benefits of Coconut Milk: Did you know that coconut milk can also help with digestion? It "nourishes the digestive lining" with natural electrolytes and healthy fats, which can improve gut health and help with IBS. Like turmeric, it can help reduce inflammation and even aid in weight loss. MCTs, another kind of fatty acid, are found in coconut milk and help with physical performance - allowing you to build muscle and lose fat.

How to Get the J.Crew Look, According to the Brand's Head Stylist
A signature J.Crew outfit - complete with a shirt, sweater, coat, trousers, and shoes - is carefully considered, but appears effortless. That's what's so intriguing about the brand's signature styling: there's a method to the "polished madness." In order to strike that perfect balance you see on the mannequins when you walk in the store or on the company's Instagram page, you've got to be open to trial and error.
We talked to J.Crew's head stylist, Gayle Spannaus, who painted a very pretty picture for us when we asked her about the look. "I always like to start with a classic white shirt, a stripe, and a piece of denim. Those are the building blocks!" So what comes next? Mixing. "It's tom girl style, mixing high with low, feminine with masculine, and trendy with evergreen. We always say 'the magic is in the mix,'" Gayle explained.
All it takes is throwing on, say, a splashy pattern with stripes and a ruffled skirt, then seeing how it all comes together. Too many colors? Break them up with a neutral tailored coat. Too simple? Tie a bright cardigan around the waist of your jeans. Read on for even more inspired tips, and shop some J.Crew separates while you're at it to help you achieve the highly coveted look.
