You'll Laugh a Little at the Most Popular Groceries People Buy From Amazon
Amazon Prime announced its best of 2016 list, and the results for most popular groceries might make you chuckle a little. At least, that was my reaction, because at first glance they seem so random. The most ordered food category? Snack nuts! Happy Belly Nuts to be more specific. On Amazon Fresh, bananas ranked #1 in popularity. Finally, Prime Pantry's top staple: Nestle Pure Life Water. It appears Amazon Prime members, who love the convenience of Amazon's delivery services, not surprisingly also covet convenient snacks for on the go.
14 Times Ben and Casey Affleck Showed Brotherly Love
Casey Affleck has been garnering headlines and praise for his role in Manchester by the Sea and has already taken home a Critics' Choice award and Golden Globe for the powerful performance (unfortunately, the 41-year-old actor is also currently at the center of some pretty serious sexual assault allegations). It's likely that Casey has the support of his older brother, Ben Affleck, throughout his roller-coaster year. The pair stepped out together for a screening of Manchester by the Sea in November, and Ben was also in attendance at the Globes when Casey won his best actor in a drama award. Ben and Casey have shared many moments together in Hollywood, working together both in front of and behind the camera. Ben is certainly no stranger to award season glory, and they also both happen to be going through divorces after 10 years of marriage - Ben and Jennifer Garner famously split in 2015, while Casey and his wife, Summer Phoenix, announced their breakup in March 2016. Keep reading to see Ben and Casey's show of brotherly love over the years.
Joe Manganiello Parties Like a Rockstar With Sofia Vergara at His 40th Birthday Bash
Sofia Vergara pulled out all the stops for husband Joe Manganiello's birthday bash on Friday. Although the Magic Mike hunk turned 40 on Dec. 28, the couple decided to celebrate two weeks later with a star-studded Coachella-themed party at the W Hollywood hotel. In addition to a special performance by Steel Panther and a red guitar cake, Fergie, Dennis Rodman, and Sofia's Modern Family costar Jesse Tyler Ferguson and his husband Justin Mikita all made appearances. Sofia shared several fun photos throughout the night on Instagram, including a cute snap of her and Joe, writing, "Ready to partyyyyyy🎸🎸🎸🎸#joe's40🎉🎉." Fergie also posted a cute selfie of her and Sofia and captioned it, "Had so much fun last night with @sofiavergara at @joemanganiello's bday #joechella." It's safe to say that "Joechella" was a success.
17 Reasons My Daughter Was Late For School This Morning
I'm usually a stickler for arriving at school on time, if not a few minutes early. My 4.5-year-old daughter's preschool doesn't start until 9 a.m., and her younger brother usually wakes us before the sun's up, so seriously, it doesn't seem to be asking that much. Her teacher often sends email reminders to us moms that late arrivals disrupt the class and compromise their already painfully short schedule, but I know they aren't directed at me. Whether my punctuality is a genetic trait or a learned one, I'm not sure, but you'll rarely find me or my kids tardy . . . until today. Dear teacher, let me tell you a little about our morning to give you 17 reasons why.
- Drag daughter out of bed at 8 a.m. Apparently, a devilish combo of monsters and scorpions invaded her bedroom around 1 a.m., and she wanted her dad to investigate. At 5 a.m., they came back, hence the exhaustion.
- Daughter wants to dress Monster High, despite never seeing the show (thanks, YouTube). Her interpretation: a silver tank top and black skirt. It's two degrees outside.
- Daughter decides all of her pants feel "weird" because they have "lines." Requests that I find a pair of pants without a single seam, and no, tights and a skirt will not be acceptable.
- Daughter requests that I pick out three outfit options for her. Rejects them all. Three more? Those are "hideous," too. Eventually she pulls out a Target t-shirt and a pair of leggings she's had so long they've become capris. Past the point of caring, I tell her as long as she adds a cardigan, it's fine.
- It seems underwear feels weird, too. After trying four different pairs, she requests to "go commando," sparking a lengthy conversation about how few social situations are underwear-optional.
- Daughter tries on every single pair of her socks and decides she hates them all. Wants that one pair of Easter socks, size 12-24 months, that she wore yesterday. Can I just wash them now?
- Daughter discovers the manicure our babysitter gave her yesterday has a chip. Requests that I remove nail polish and repaint them all in a new color, right now.
- While I'm explaining to daughter why the manicure has to wait and why long sleeves and pants are essential during a Midwestern January, her little brother heads to her play kitchen and dumps the bucket of 200+ pieces of play food all over her room, then tries to eat them. I guess it's breakfast time.
- Daughter can't decide whether she wants Cheerios, a bagel, or waffles, so she decides that I should make her all three. Plus, she really wants an apple with peanut butter and ice cream. Her brother forages in the pantry for his own breakfast and comes out with a bag of flour. You can guess what happened next.
- I gave daughter the wrong sippy cup. I'm a monster.
- She wants a big girl glass of milk with a crazy straw. Two minutes later, spills glass of milk all over the floor.
- Daughter wants her hair in two pigtails . . . no, in one big ponytail . . . no, just a headband.
- Have to remind daughter for the 100th time that she's required to wear gym shoes to school, and no, those Wonder Woman boots don't count.
- Ten minutes later, still haven't decided on a pair of shoes.
- Halfway out the door and detect a weird smell. Yep, that's little brother's diaper.
- Halfway to school, realize forgot daughter's coat at home (she won't wear hers in the car). Debate whether it's worth turning around, but again, it's two degrees out. Back we go.
- Finally, arrive at school and yell at daughter that we have to hurry inside. "But first mom, let's tell some jokes." Honey, this whole morning feels like one big one!

Ryan Gosling Has the Cutest Reaction to Watching His 12-Year-Old Self Dancing
Remember when clips of 12-year-old Ryan Gosling's sassy dance moves went viral? Well, thanks to Graham Norton one of the videos is making the rounds again. During a recent appearance on The Graham Norton Show, Ryan was forced to watch one of the clips, in which he channels his inner MC Hammer in silver parachute pants and an embellished purple shirt. While Ryan is a good sport and laughs off the whole thing, the backstory behind the '80s dance number makes it that much better.
Good News, Hot Pepper Lovers: Eating Spicy Food May Help You Live Longer!
If you enjoy enjoy eating spicy foods, this news should excite you! Researchers at the Larner College of Medicine at the University of Vermont recently discovered an association between eating hot peppers and living longer. According to the report, Benjamin Littenberg, M.D. and professor of medicine, and medical student Mustafa Chopan examined a National Health and Nutritional Examination Survey of 16,000 Americans taken over the course of 23 years, and noticed a "13 percent reduction in total mortality" in those who frequently ate red chili peppers.
While the Littenberg and Chopan admit that eating spicy food is "far from certain" to delay mortality, they do believe it could help prevent health related-deaths caused by obesity. The authors also believe capsaicin, an active agent found in red chili peppers, could act as an antimicrobial which fights against bacteria and viruses in the body.
Chopan says although inconclusive, their red chili pepper study could be used for future research "in the form of clinical trials" and potentially "become a dietary recommendation" to help us all live longer. Sounds like a win-win situation for hot sauce lovers!

La La Land: Is That Really Ryan Gosling Playing the Piano?!
La La Land is the most enchanting movie of 2016, but besides the singing and dancing, one particular element will dazzle you: Ryan Gosling's piano skills. He plays a struggling jazz purist in the film, and there are some musical scenes that may cause you to wonder if it's really Gosling playing or a body double. Shocking as it may be, it's definitely Gosling playing the whole time!
"In fact, there's not a single close-up shot of [the character] Sebastian's hands in the entire movie that's a piano double," director Damien Chazelle said at a press event for the movie. "It's all Ryan." Even John Legend, who has a smaller part in the film, was impressed: "I was jealous, man," he said. "Watching him play, I was like, 'Wow, this guy is really good and he just learned this in the last few months.' It's pretty amazing."

Why Doesn't Lily Collins Have a British Accent? We're Genuinely Asking
Image Source: Getty / Michael Kovac
Something that has been bothering us for a while now (besides, you know, climate-change deniers, bars that don't serve Rosé, and when something in the sale section isn't actually on sale) is the fact that Lily Collins, ubertalented actress and owner of some of the best brows in the business, doesn't have a British accent. That sounds like a nonsensical thing to be bothered by, because it is, but bear with us: even though her father is British and she did have an accent in the 2014 film Love, Rosie, Lily does not, in fact, have a British accent IRL. And we just feel like she should.
Image Source: Getty / Todd Williamson
Lily's father is, of course, the great English singer and former Genesis frontman Phil Collins. Her mother is Jill Tavelman, Phil's second wife and the former president of the Beverly Hills Women's Club. The 27-year-old was born in Surrey, England, where she lived until she was 7; when her parents divorced, Lily moved to LA with her mom. Obviously she spent more time in the States than in the UK growing up, but we still just feel like an accent would suit her so well. She's got the milky-white skin, bold brows, and dark features of an English rose, she is so poised and polished in interviews, and she fills that British It-girl role so perfectly.
Lily brought her American mom with her to the Golden Globes on Sunday, where she was nominated for best actress in a motion picture, musical, or comedy for her role in Rules Don't Apply. During a red carpet interview with E!'s Giuliana Rancic, Lily talked about growing up in nearby Beverly Hills and gushed about being at the show for the first time: "I brought my mom as my date and I'm just really excited honestly," she said. "Meryl Streep knows my name now so that for me is enough." Now that we think about it, maybe Meryl Streep should have a British accent too.

Police Called to Paula Patton's Home Amid Her Custody Battle With Robin Thicke
Paula Patton filed for divorce from then-husband Robin Thicke back in 2014, and it looks like their legal battles are far from over. The former couple shares a 6-year-old son, Julian, and on Thursday it was revealed that the "Blurred Lines" singer is being investigated for alleged child abuse by the Los Angeles County Department of Child and Family Services in connection to his and Paula's ongoing custody battle. According to court documents obtained by Us Weekly, Julian reportedly told school officials that his father "spanked him more than once," leading to them getting the DCFS involved on Jan. 3. The organization has interviewed Julian as part of their investigation and was scheduled to talk to Robin on Thursday afternoon.
This reportedly resulted in the Warcraft actress barring Robin access to their son and filing an emergency order with a judge to limit his time with Julian to supervised visits during the day only. The Grammy nominee maintains that the only thing that happened was a "light spanking," according to the court documents. "On a very rare occasion and only as a last resort, I will use light spanking, but it is consistent with the law -- open hand on the butt," he said. Robin then goes on to claim the entire incident is rooted in Paula's anger at not being invited to the funeral of Robin's late father, Alan Thicke, in December. "It is my belief that Paula holds residual anger towards me because I and my family would not permit her or her family to attend the funeral of my father on December 20, 2016," he alleged. "Paula did not have a positive relationship with my father. . . . As such, she was not welcome at his funeral. It is my belief that Paula only wanted to attend because it would have resulted in additional public exposure for her." After the Growing Pains star passed, Paula shared a moving message about him on Instagram.
A source told Us Weekly that a "judge denied everything in [Patton's] complaint" and that "Child Protective Services didn't see any evidence of wrongdoing." Things got even worse on Friday when police were called to Paula's home in Calabasas, CA. A rep for the Lost Hills Sheriffs Station told Us Weekly, "All I can say is that basically we had a call to respond for a civil matter. No action was taken on our part, no report was written. It was completely civil." According to TMZ, Robin called police because Paula reportedly violated their custody order by refusing to release their son to him. Authorities then spoke to Julian, who was allegedly scared to leave with his dad, and Robin ended up leaving alone.
We will update this post with further information as it becomes available.

Why It's Time to Celebrate Average-Size Women
This post was written by our POPSUGAR UK editor and originally appeared on POPSUGAR Fashion UK. Unless otherwise stated, all dress sizes referenced are UK sizes. US sizes are approximately UK minus 4 (e.g., UK 14 = US 10).

Some have suggested that 2014 was "the year of plus-size." To others, it was nothing more than a token nod in the right direction: a couple of models over a size 10 featured in big campaigns, a couple of celebrity collections that didn't stop at a size 14 (see Kelly Brook for Simply Be, pictured above), some nice things said about Melissa McCarthy during award season. It's true that we are a long way from this industry ever truly embracing the breadth of shapes and sizes of modern women, but every step in the right direction is a good one. And 2015 got off to a good start with the news that models Ashley Graham and Robyn Lawley will appear in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue - even if one of those is an ad, not an editorial.
The real strides toward body acceptance in the world of fashion have come through the blogosphere. Plus-size blogs are thriving, particularly in the US and the UK, where bloggers are collaborating on fashion lines, appearing on TV, and modeling for global brands. The Instagram hashtag #effyourbeautystandards has taken off to the point where the woman behind it, Tess Holliday, has signed to a major modeling agency despite being neither the height nor weight of your "average" plus-size model.
Because as many of us have now realized, most plus-size models are not really plus-size. At least not in the way you'd imagine. Fashion has always thrived on aspiration, and just as runway models tend to be right on the lowest end of the "straight" size spectrum, plus-size models actually straddle the middle ground - the sizes that lurk at the back of the rail in high-street retailers but also mark the start of many plus-size ranges - 14, 16, possibly 18. This has started an unending argument about what "plus-size" truly is and whether the models used really represent the women buying plus-size clothing. (The short answer is no. Just like how runway models don't represent people who buy a size 10.)
Among those to come under fire was ASOS, whose Curve range starts at a UK size 18. Recently the brand has made an effort to use larger models following the negative feedback from consumers, but it was only a year or so ago that Bree Warren was a frequent Curve model. Her model card lists her as a UK size 14 with a 29-inch waist. She is stunning and excellent at her job but hardly representative of the 18-plus woman shopping for ASOS Curve.
Source: ASOS
Though I'm a few inches shorter, I have almost identical measurements to Bree Warren. I wear a UK size 14. My BMI is healthy, but to many slim people, I am still considered "too fat." To the plus-size community, I am not big enough. I have had my body shape described as everything from "normal" to "Adele-sized" (for the record, all comparisons to Adele are gratefully accepted). Straddling two sides of the industry, I am what is now being coined an "in-betweener."
The term started being used more frequently in fashion circles last year, when model Myla Dalbesio was signed for a big Calvin Klein campaign. Despite the fact Calvin Klein did not identify her as plus-size, the shock headlines quickly started anyway. A huge fashion brand was using a plus-size model for the first time! The truth? Dalbesio is a US 10/UK 14, with similar measurements to Bree Warren - and me. At 5'11", her body is completely in proportion, and in the campaign, she looks amazing. This should have been seen as a good thing, a woman with a body closer to that of many consumers was finally being represented in fashion. But because of the label, things went the other way entirely as people complained she wasn't plus-size enough.
Source: Calvin Klein
What Dalbesio told Yahoo Style about the whole furor around her size sums up exactly how I feel every time I post a photo of myself online or try on a dress in H&M. When you straddle two very different sides of an industry, making either of them accept you is tricky. For a second, it felt like being "average" actually made things harder. Here's some of what Dalbesio said:
"I can never figure out where I fit in, and I'm always making someone mad. I'm not skinny-skinny, but I'm not fat and fabulous either. I'm a size 10. There's been a whole public outcry about me not being as big as people think I should be. They say, 'What do you have to complain about? You have a great body.' But if you're a size 6 or 10 (US), that doesn't mean you don't need to see yourself represented too."
This year, I believe things are moving in the direction of the in-betweener. There has long been controversy over the so-called "glorification" of plus-size, with arguments that we have gone from one extreme to another. But is this really true, given that the majority of plus-size models are barely a size 16? The plus-size industry is a huge one that will continue to grow, and perhaps by removing the labels on models who do not fairly represent their consumers, the plus-size industry will have the opportunity to diversify even more.
Elsewhere, the in-between models should no longer be seen as token "real girls" alongside their size-6 (6 UK = 2 US) colleagues. Putting more emphasis on the middle ground, the alleged "normal" woman seems like the logical step to close the divide. The average female dress size varies depending on the study, but most agree it's somewhere around 14 to 16 in the UK. Naysayers have often complained that rather than using models who are either size 0 or size 18 with nothing in between, we should be showing a breadth of sizes, including those in the middle. Where better to start than the average?
We are, after all, the lucky ones, even if we don't feel like it sometimes. Women who're size 14 or 16 can technically shop at more retailers than anyone of any other size. We can buy standard and plus-size clothes. However, that doesn't mean either is designed with us in mind. I get just as many funny looks from shop assistants when I walk into plus-size retailer Evans as I did when I went into Miss Selfridge when I was 30 pounds heavier. But I have the option, something many other women are not lucky enough to have.
That doesn't mean dressing well is easy. We have to be just as creative as anyone else, despite this added choice. In-betweeners become experts at picking and choosing items from various retailers, learning what works and what doesn't from each range. As we often have larger busts and curvier hips and bums to consider, we rarely find one size fits all, and we have to shop around. We don't have many people in the public eye to look to for inspiration, because so often with fame comes pressure to lose weight and put out an exercise DVD. But we do have places to go for inspiration online, as our blogosphere is growing too. More brands are adjusting their in-store displays to reference our body types. Victoria Beckham now makes dresses in our size!
Plus, we know the real truth. Years of not knowing quite where we fit has taught us that nobody is truly average. "Normal" doesn't exist, and while every body is different, all of them are brilliant. Isn't it time more of them were represented in fashion?
Are Meerkats the Sorority Sisters of the Animal Kingdom? The Internet Thinks So
Looking back on old photos can bring back some serious nostalgia, but it can also make you realize funny things you never noticed before. That's what happened when this sorority member pointed out how much her sisters looked like meerkats in their pictures.
Me and my sisters..ever notice how sorority girls pose exactly like meerkats in pictures? from funny
The hilarious photo was posted on Reddit and has received over 1,600 comments so far from people who can not get over the uncanny resemblance. "Of the two groups, only the meerkats have any manors," one user joked. "You could submit this for an anthropology or cultural studies course," another added. "I've noticed that when more and more girls gather for a picture, there's an increase in gravity in that area causing them to bend their knees," is probably one of our favorites.
Other sorority ladies quickly caught on to the trend and began meme-ing themselves and their sisters, too.

What Different Diamond Sizes Look Like on Real-Girl Hands
Full disclosure: we've dreamt about our engagement ring - and the guy who will give it to us - for as long as we can remember. We're fashion girls, after all. Sparkly diamonds, the excuse to buy the dress of our dreams, and all things wedding-related are pretty much our ultimate weakness. But when it comes to carat size and technical stuff, you might as well be speaking a foreign language. Because we know that the carat is the weight of the diamond and - sigh - the higher the weight, the higher the price, but what does that even mean? What does it actually look like? On real-people fingers?
Luckily, we've got a few friends in high places, and Ritani, a diamond company with a factory in NYC, offered to shed some light on our rock-size dilemma. So without further ado, here's what real diamonds look like on real-girl hands. Now your only issue is discretely sending this to your S.O.

Prince William Tells a Grieving Child He Lost His "Mummy," Too
Prince William has rarely opened up about how he felt when his mother, Princess Diana, died. The prince did provide a rare glimpse into those turbulent years when he visited a UK center for grieving children. There, he found that he had tragic common ground with one little girl in particular.
Diego Luna Was Just So Damn Adorable Speaking Spanish at the Golden Globes
We're a puddle after hearing Rogue One's Diego Luna speak Spanish while he presented the award for best screenplay - motion picture at the 2017 Golden Globe Awards. It was just so refreshing to see the Mexican actor, who arrived on the red carpet with best friend Gael García Bernal (nominated for the second time for his role on Mozart in the Jungle), infuse his presenter script with his sparkly personality and native language.
As he stepped on stage, the crowd wasn't ready post-commercial break, still chatting it up and walking around the theater, so what did Diego do? He said "Silencio, por favor," to get everyone back on track then politely greeted them with a "Buenas noches a todos." The whole thing was so damn cute, but it didn't end there.
After presenting the nominees, Diego decided to announce the winner in Spanish, too, saying: "Y el Globo de Oro es para . . . You got that, right?" After highlighting the importance of Latino representation in Hollywood by tweeting a sweet story shared by a Star Wars fan, Diego just keeps making us proud. See the video below, then remember that time he brought his ex-wife to the premiere of Rogue One.

Celine Dion Shares an Emotional Tribute to Her Husband on the Anniversary of His Death
Celine Dion's husband, René Angélil, passed away one year ago after a long battle with cancer, but the singer is still keeping his memory alive. On Saturday, Celine posted a video montage on Facebook highlighting moments from René's childhood and his family life with Celine. He also has three adult children, Anne-Marie, Patrick, and Jean-Pierre, from a previous relationship. There Is a Beauty and the Beast Nail Polish Collection Launching - and It's Enchanting
Here's a tale as old as time: a Disney remake movie is released and multiple beauty brands create collections inspired by it. On March 17, the much-anticipated Beauty and the Beast live-action movie opens, and you can bet beauty companies are feeding the obsession.
To kick it off, we have an exclusive first look at a seven-shade, Beauty and the Beast-themed collection. The line hails from sister brands Gelish Gel Polish ($13) and Morgan Taylor Professional Nail Lacquer ($9), featuring some seriously dreamy hues.
There is Be Our Guest (creamy pink), The Last Petal (pearly red), Gaston And On And On (baby blue), Days in the Sun (bright yellow), and Potts of Tea (alabaster). The most standout of all is Enchanted Patina, a specialty overlay coat that changes the color beneath it to look more "antique." It gives a nod to the Baroque details seen in the film set, and it can also be worn on its own.
As early testers, we tried Be Our Guest topped with an Enchanted Patina nail art design, and the results (which you can see here) were spectacular. It created a rose-copper finish, and we can't wait to play with more combinations!
Though the offering does not launch until February 2017 at gelish.com and morgantaylorlacquer.com, you can get a sneak peek right here, right now (spills included!).
There's a Scientific Reason You Carry Your Kids on the Left Side of Your Body
I've noticed that I have significantly more muscle on my left arm from toting heavy kiddos around, and though I've attempted to even the muscles out by using my right arm and hip, my body just won't allow it comfortably - as it turns out, I can thank evolution for that. If you're one of 70 - 85 percent of women who are like me and carry your children on your left side, it's because humans are hard-wired to do so in order to keep their babies safe.
According to a study published in Nature Ecology and Evolution, when you carry a child on the left side of your body - called left-side bias - this allows for the right side of your brain to process information, specifically emotions. The authors of the study - which explored humans and other mammals such as orca whales - reported that left-side bias contributes to mother-child bonding because the right hemisphere of your brain helps you to make sense of what you see, allowing you to recognize your baby's expressions and determine what they need.
So if you feel like you need to even out the muscles on the right side of your body, consider some free weights instead of attempting to switch your babies from hip to hip - your emotional connection with your kids will be stronger for it.
Get Stronger With This 2-Weeks-to-50-Burpees Challenge
You have a lot of feelings about burpees. Hatred, fear, and disgust may come to mind, so we understand if you're not psyched about doing a burpee-only challenge. But this burpee workout is different! It involves five different variations and builds up over the course of two weeks so it's a fun way to challenge yourself while getting stronger. It takes only minutes each day, so you can tack it on before or after your other workouts. And by the end, you'll be able to do 50 burpees, which is something to be proud of.
If you're new to burpees, definitely feel free to sub in modifications. Do the push-up with both knees on the floor, or skip the push-up altogether. Also, instead of jumping the feet back and forward, just step them one at a time. And if the explosive jump at the end is too much, just skip it. The point is to keep moving, so as long as you're doing that, you're doing it right!

30 Pictures That Prove Michelle Williams and Busy Philipps Will Stand the Test of Time
Michelle Williams and Busy Philipps have a friendship that has spanned nearly 20 years - which is like a century in Hollywood years. Busy is the godmother of Michelle's daughter, Matilda, from her marriage to Heath Ledger, and most recently she was accompanied by her BFF at a screening for her new film Manchester by the Sea. Prepare to smile (and feel nostalgic) as you look back on photos of their friendship.

9 Outfits That Never Go Out of Style
With every runway and every new trend, I'm less enthused with what's in my own closet. It's more than an occupational hazard, and a common sentiment many women share: how to make our wardrobes functional and stylish each day so that we're never the victims of "I have nothing to wear" syndrome again. The answer I'm finding isn't always in stocking your closet with new stuff but in remembering the value of great essentials - and how to work them time and time again. So I'm going back to basics with nine timeless outfits you can rework and rewear any way you like. It starts here with a few easy formulas; just add and subtract to make them your own.

Make These 16 New Year's Resolutions If You Want to Live Longer
If you want to live a long, healthy life, you know you should be taking good care of yourself. If life has gotten in the way of you being able to do that, start off the New Year with a commitment to yourself to make time for you! These healthy resolutions will not only have you feeling energetic and happy, but they'll increase your chances of avoiding disease so you can live close to triple digits with as much spunk as you have now.
You Will Never Look at Jalapeños the Same Way After Learning This Fact
Did you know chiles have different names depending on whether they are fresh or dried? What?! I know. I'm as startled as you are. You are probably familiar with jalapeños as well as chipotle (likely in adobo sauce), but did you know they are the same pepper? It's true. Look it up! Jalapeños are kept longer on the vine, until they ripen to a deep red color and are then smoked and dried. Once that process is complete, they are known as chipotle. Some other shockers for you: poblano peppers become ancho when dried, and serranos become dried red chiles.

17 Reasons to Give Skinny Jeans Another Shot in 2017
While my personal relationships are all pretty healthy, the one I have with jeans is anything but. Last year, I broke up with skinny styles, ridding my closet of anything too binding. I'm a creature of comfort, after all. I love boyfriend cuts, cropped options, and will even ditch denim for track pants. But here's my confession: for 2017, I'm ready to take skinnies back.
When we first parted ways, I considered my skinny jeans the opposite of flattering. On my body, they seemed to highlight what I didn't want highlighted (my hip area), and a looser fit was definitely comfier. Recently, however, my boyfriend jeans have lost their thrill. They've started to feel shlumpy and lazy, and weigh down my petite frame if I'm not wearing heels (and I rarely wear heels).
I've started to realize skinnies actually do create flattering proportions, especially if they hit right above the ankle. Anyone of any size can pull 'em off, too, and it doesn't matter if you're wearing a tank, tee, or bulky sweater - they'll always look great, putting curves on display (and hugging your booty).
Even boyfriend jeans are being phased out, with tighter "girlfriend" and "mom" styles taking their place. The move towards slimmer cuts have convinced me skinnies are climbing their way back to the top, but don't just take my word for it. Scroll for the proof - and some shopping, too!
This Glittery New Beauty Tool Flawlessly Blends Makeup Without Wasting a Drop
Silicone blending sponges are having a moment right now thanks to the Silisponge, an applicator that looks similar to a breast push-up pad and is designed to flawlessly blend in makeup. However, for some, the flat tool can be a little unwieldy, while others long for a textured surface similar to that of a true sponge.
A Kickstarter campaign for Evie Blender has taken the original silicone tool concept and claims to have perfected it. Its creator, makeup artist Angie Johnson, came up with the concept when working behind the scenes on television shows like Documentary Now!. For these programs, she put her special effects skills to use, and her experimentation with different silicone materials while creating prosthetics inspired Evie's creation.
Its squishy, teardrop shape makes it easy to grip, and it features both a large end for buffing and a pointed end to get into small areas like under the eye and around the nose. It has a textured surface just like a real sponge but doesn't hold on to makeup, making it easy to wash off (it doesn't stain either). The hypoallergenic tool can even be boiled or wiped with rubbing alcohol to sanitize it - a major selling point for professional artists. Bonus: it's sparkly!
Though the tool isn't available for purchase yet, you can donate $28 to the Kickstarter campaign, which will secure your very own Evie for March delivery (should the campaign make its goal). Read on to see more shots of the Evie Blender, then give to the Kickstarter if you're interested in trying it out!
Look Back on Drew Barrymore's Adorable First-Ever Golden Globes Appearance
Drew Barrymore attended the Golden Globes on Sunday night looking completely stunning - and she definitely knew it, too. The 41-year-old actress and Golden Globe award winner flaunted her figure on the red carpet in a Monique Lhuillier gown and was equally ebullient while presenting on stage with her Santa Clarita Diet costar Timothy Olyphant. Drew's Globes appearance was her first since 2014, and marked her sixth over time; she first graced the show when she was only 8 years old, hitting the red carpet in a sweet pink princess-style dress and even speaking on stage with her E.T. costar Henry Thomas (seriously, watch the video below, she's ridiculously cute).
More proof that Drew has always been one of Hollywood's most delightful humans.

Is Elle, the Golden Globe-Winning, Sexually Violent Thriller, Actually Any Good?
Warning: mild spoilers follow.
The film Elle has no interest in making its viewers comfortable. Instead, the movie opens on a rape scene that is loud, startling, and brutal. Seeing sexual assault on screen is not out of the ordinary in film; what is out of the ordinary about Elle is almost everything happens in the aftermath of the attack. The French movie, helmed by German director Paul Verhoeven (yes, he also did Showgirls), had until now flown relatively under the radar in the United States. Certainly, most people watching the Golden Globes in their living rooms were taken by surprise when star Isabelle Huppert won best actress in a drama at Sunday's award ceremony. Now, as the movie garners more and more attention, it's sparking a complicated conversation about rape culture, our ideas about victims and survivors, and gender roles. Here's why:
It Offers a Unique, Subversive Take on Gender and Rape Culture
After the rape that opens the film, Michèle (Huppert) throws her dress in the garbage, tidies the shattered china from her living room floor, takes a bath, and orders takeout sushi. She does not call the police. A few days later, while out to dinner with her ex-husband, her best friend Ann, and Ann's husband, she divulges the rape in an emotionless, matter-of-fact way that leaves her loved ones - and certainly most viewers - dumbfounded. The dispassionate announcement is presented as completely strange and even darkly funny.
We also learn that Michèle is not only a victim of rape, but plays an interesting role in propagating rape culture herself. She and her best friend, Ann, own a very successful video game company that thrives on narratives with hyperviolence and sexual fantasy at their centers. Shortly after her own rape, she's reviewing a current cut of a new game with her staff of mostly 20- and 30-something gamer guys, and demands they make a female character's reaction to an assault by an oversize, tentacled monster more "orgasmic." Moments later, in the same meeting, she is challenged and belittled by one of her own employees in a moment that pretty much any woman will recognize as a classic example of workplace sexism. These moments of dissonance continue through the film. Michèle incites our empathy in her vulnerable moments, but she can also be cruel, demanding, and selfish. She is not simple or "likable"; she's human.
It Features a Bold, Mindbendingly Great Performance by Isabelle Huppert
These complexities open the door for a tour de force performance by the 63-year-old Huppert, who has never shied away from controversial material in her career. She is perhaps best known in the states for her role as the masochistic lead character in The Piano Teacher. In 2012, she costarred in Amour, an Oscar-winning, controversial film about an elderly couple and assisted suicide (or murder, depending on your opinion). As Michèle, even the fleeting nuances of Huppert's facial expressions are entrancing, and she embodies Michèle's steely, cool nature as though she were reborn in the character's own skin.
The Ending Is Shocking - and Deeply Ambiguous
I don't want to reveal too much, because I do think this film is worth watching. But the last third of Elle - and, especially, the very end of it - calls almost everything you thought you understood about the movie's take on abuse, rape, and power into question . . . as well as some of what you thought you knew about the plot.
I'm not sure if I can agree with the conclusions it draws, primarily because I'm still not precisely sure what they are. What I do know? The film ends on a moment in which Michèle, as a literal survivor, wields all the power over the men in the room. Still, I can see how some viewers might read the film as a mockery of women, or an anti-feminist backlash to the mens rights-y idea of "victim culture." But my strong hunch is that Michèle's story is intended as a critique of our own complicity in rape culture and a cautionary tale about ignoring a woman's power; whether viewers are comfortable with its means to that end is the question. Days later, and I'm not sure that I am - but the fact that I'm still thinking about it proves, for me, Elle's success as a work of art.

Every year there's one sexy trend that seems to take the Golden Globes by storm. Last year it was the naked dress, and this year it's plunging necklines. Whoa! These Marvel Images Are Trippy AF
Any Marvel fan can tell you just how much they love the franchise in any form - especially when it comes to full-scale illustrations of their favorite characters. One artist turned his portraits of Marvel characters into GIFs that are so subtle, you can barely tell they're moving images.
The artist, Mike Mitchell, originally created these pieces of art for a show that ran last year at the Mondo Gallery in Texas. They are completely stunning and definitely capture his feelings for Marvel. "This has easily been the most ambitious project I've ever taken on, and it's due in part to my love for their universe; which is fictional by definition, but real in my mind and in the minds of others," he said to Mondo Tees. It definitely touches fans, considering Mitchell's artwork first made the rounds on Reddit in 2014 and was rising on Imgur a few months ago.
Look ahead and become entranced by these amazing Marvel GIFs - you won't be able to look away.

Despite how serious the movie will be, the set sure looked like fun! We're practically upon the next movie's Feb. 10, 2017, release date, so get your fix with these behind-the-scenes shots now.
