Sienna Miller Is Wearing the Newest Chanel Lip Product - and You're Going to Be Obsessed
As a bride-to-be, my first thought when I saw Sienna Miller's soft and romantic makeup at the 2017 Golden Globes was, "I want to wear that down the aisle." Her makeup artist, Kate Lee, who has been working with Sienna since the '90s and exclusively used Chanel products, flawlessly played up Sienna's features with lush lashes, clean eyeliner, and a medley of rosy nudes.
When we chatted exclusively with Lee via email after the red carpet, we learned two key things about Sienna's look. The first is that Lee was inspired by 1960s Hollywood beauty to craft the soft palette and timeless style.
Lee said: "Sienna's Look for the Golden Globes 2017 was inspired by Brigitte Bardot and Jean Seberg and that very specific brand of beauty that was born of the 1960s. Beautiful, classic, but effortless. We took what we wanted from the references, and then made it our own. It was a collaborative process which included Sienna, myself, and Earl Simms, who is her long time hairdresser."
FYI, Sienna wore an elegant black ribbon tied around her ponytail, a nod to accessories seen on both Bardot and Seberg.
The second key piece of information we discovered is that Sienna is one of the first celebrities to rock Chanel's new Crayon de Couleur Jumbo Longwear Lip Crayon (available in 11 shades for $37 each). As early testers of the lip crayon, we can confirm its creamy formula. The finish is more of a glossy matte than a dry one.
To choose Sienna's hue for the evening, Lee swatched out the shades (and you can see an exclusive photo ahead). "When I receive a new range of lip color, I like to test it first as it gives me an idea of how much pigment and emollience is in the product," Lee told us. "By understanding the texture and pigment, I find it helps me to figure out how to achieve different looks by blotting, layering etc."
She selected No.1 Nude option to go with Sienna's '60s style. "Because we were pretty much set on our references, I knew that I would use a nude blush shade, and it just happened to be perfect," Lee explained. "I had a few other matte shades on hand but because Sienna was quite tanned, I felt that a moist lip would look more modern."
Though lip crayons are generally pretty easy to use, we wanted to get Lee's advice on how to apply this buzzy launch. "Lip Crayons are the best of the bunch when it comes to ease-of-use and portability," she noted. "They impart great color and moisture, which you can then blot and layer or use over contrasting or corresponding shades to build depth and intensity. My favorite way to use them is to apply from the pencil and then gently dab with my ring finger to work the color into the lip and soften the lip line."
And of course we had to know what it's like to get ready with Sienna! Lee said, "Sienna and I have worked together for over 15 years, and it's always such fun and so inspiring for me to work with her. She is truly a beautiful person, inside and out. Today we listened to David Bowie in honor of his birthday and there was a champagne toast just before she left!"
Keep reading to see exclusive photos of Lee's kit, those aforementioned swatches, and a photo of Lee and Sienna. There are also close-up shots of Sienna's look in case you, too, want to pin this to your "wedding" Pinterest board!

J Lo Just Wore the Sneakers That Will Take You From the Gym to the Mall - in Style
While we didn't get another naked dress moment from Jennifer Lopez at the 2017 Golden Globes, the singer and Shades of Blue actress did manage to reaffirm her status as a street style maven over Globes weekend, wearing a chic all-black workout look with major statement accessories - namely bright sneakers every fan of color will lust over.
Jennifer wore a pair of custom coral Nike Air Presto Ultra Flyknit ($200) shoes while on a shopping trip to Barney's New York in Los Angeles, matching her animal-print handbag with the bold footwear. While this ab-tastic look is significantly more relaxed than her recent fur wrap coat-clad outing in NYC, it's just as lust-worthy, especially for athleisure enthusiasts. 7 Movies You Watched as a Kid That Your Own Kids Do Not Need to See
Though I grew up in a very exciting time for movies - both '80s movies and '90s movies were the best - there were a few inappropriate and scary movies that my parents let me watch as a kid, which makes me look back and think, "Seriously, Mom and Dad, what were you thinking?"
Though ratings serve to let a parent know when their child should be able to watch a film, often they're ignored just because a parent is supervising (doesn't make things less traumatizing), or - in my honest opinion - they're sometimes rated lower than they should be. Everything made before the '90s was rated wrong, I swear. (For perspective, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, a movie most parents would - and should - let their kids watch, is rated PG-13. Jaws? Rated PG.)
Read through for seven arguably classic movies we all watched as kids that our own children definitely don't need to see until they're older, and check out some movies that they should actually watch below.
The 5 Things I Do Every Morning to Stay Healthy
In those first years out of college, I struggled with the transition into "real adulthood." Adulting is hard! But as I started to make health and self-care more of a priority, I realized that I was lacking a solid morning routine. Fast-forward to today, and the routine I've established has helped set the tone for a healthy day, every day. Aside from the universal tip of "eat breakfast," here are the top five things that have helped me rise and shine; try these for a morning of wellness!
Oil Pull
Before you start saying "oil pulling is so 2014," hear me out. I grind my teeth at night, and I know I'm not alone in this. In addition to the possible oral health benefits, oil pulling exercises a stiff jaw to alleviate pain, forces you to get up 20 minutes earlier, and acts as a chemical-free mouthwash.
Stretch
While I oil pull, I stretch. I take this time to relax, meditate a bit, and warm up my body for the day. If I have time or get up early enough, I go to yoga or do a few Sun Salutations in my room. I know I'll be in a desk chair all day, so I try to carve out some time to always get a good stretch session in.
Drink Lemon Water
A room-temperature glass of lemon water has tons of health benefits: alongside improved hydration, you'll get a vitamin C boost for glowing skin, a metabolism boost, and a mood boost.

Care For Your Skin
I don't have an extreme 11-step Korean skin care routine, but I do have a pretty solid lineup for my skin. I cleanse my skin with Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel and my Clarisonic, then tone, apply serum, and moisturize. Twice a week, I use a peel, and three times a week, I use a retexturizing scrub. And you know what? I never knew my skin could be this good! The byproduct of this is that I now look forward to waking up (don't judge me) to go through my skin care routine.
Take Vitamins
I take B12 for energy, omega-3 for mood and muscle health, and vitamin E for hair, skin, and nails. If I'm drinking my vitamins in a shake, I use Vega One powder mixed with some coconut milk. At the risk of sounding like your mom, take your vitamins!

How to Make the Perfect Cheesy Scrambled Eggs For 1
There are so many ways to make scrambled eggs, but this method is hands down my favorite, mostly because it involves cheese. I firmly believe that cheddar cheese instantly takes scrambled eggs from completely blah to truly tasty - it's the only time I'll make scrambled instead of fried. If you, too, are team cheesy scrambled eggs and want to know how to make the perfect plate just for yourself, follow these step-by-step directions for a satisfying breakfast you can make in under 10 minutes.
Here's what you'll need: two large eggs, 1/4 cup sharp shredded cheddar cheese (preferably freshly grated cheese from a block of extra sharp cheddar - it tastes better and melts better than cheese from a bag), salt, pepper, butter, and fresh chives (optional but highly recommended - the flavor of cheddar and chives is one of the best). First, get all your ingredients prepped and ready to go because the process moves really quickly once you begin. Crack two eggs into a bowl, grate the cheese, and finely chop about 1/2 tablespoon of fresh chives to save for garnish.
Whisk the eggs with a fork until frothy and smooth, and add a scant 1/8 teaspoon of kosher salt and slightly less black pepper. Whisk to combine.
Heat your best nonstick skillet over medium-low heat and wait until it's heated through, about three minutes. Add one tablespoon butter (or ghee, aka clarified butter), and swirl to coat the pan. Immediately add the eggs (you don't want to give the butter a chance to brown), and grab a silicone spatula. A silicone spatula is hands down the best tool for scrambling eggs because its smooth surface ensures no eggs stick to the spatula.
Begin gently moving the eggs around, and you'll see curds starting to form immediately. Scrape the eggs from the outer edges of the pan into the center, and continue to gently move your spatula - don't stop moving the eggs the whole time. When the eggs are still a little wet, add all of the cheese and fold in carefully. Cook for just a few seconds more, and then turn off the heat (the residual heat will continue to cook the eggs). Plate the eggs and garnish with the chopped chives, if using. Serve immediately, and congratulate yourself on mastering one of the best breakfasts! You can double or triple the recipe if you're feeding others, but be warned - they'll ask you for your secret.
Relive That Time Chris Pratt Hilariously Teased a Group of Fans About Getting a Picture With Him
Chris Pratt is one of Hollywood's biggest stars, but he's also a good sport when it comes to his fans. Back in April 2016, the webseries Game Grumps - who are avid fans of Chris - poked a little fun at the actor when they posted a photo of themselves with a watermelon with his name written on it in Sharpie. "Holy crap we got this TOTALLY REAL picture with Chris Pratt today!" they tweeted. "THIS IS NOT PHOTOSHOPPED!!!" Of course Chris, being the amazing person that he is, couldn't leave them hanging and crafted the perfect response, which is once again making the rounds online. "I can confirm. That is 100 percent me," he wrote. Whether he's posting funny childhood pictures on social media or giving a shout-out to his fans, Chris always knows how to make us laugh. Check out the funny throwback exchange below.

These 2 Products Will Turn Your Matte Lips Metallic in Seconds
Ah, the matte lip. This was easily 2016's hottest makeup trend after matte liquid lipstick became the It product. With the help of Kylie's lip empire, worldwide attention was drawn to what the beauty community had already fallen in love with, and nearly every brand followed suit and released their own versions.
In 2017, matte lips might be taking a back seat to other shinier trends, leaving us beauty junkies stuck with a few (or 20) too many matte shades and little motivation to drop even more money on a new set of lipsticks. This is where lip toppers come in.
Thanks to two standout brands, these innovative products make it virtually seamless to turn all of your lipsticks (not just matte ones!) into gorgeous, glimmering metallic shades in just a few simple strokes! Lip toppers are essentially shimmer in a tube and differ from gloss in that they dry down and don't add any extra stickiness. The formulas are sheer enough to show the base color underneath but have opaque enough glitter to catch eyes from across the room. You also have the option to wear them alone for a wash of shimmer.
Jouer Cosmetics was one of the first brands to create this product, offering versatile options of its Long-Wear Lip Toppers ($16) for those looking to add subtle reflects to their lips. For more eccentric shades - such as blue and hot pink - try Lime Crime's Diamond Crushers ($18).
Keep reading to catch a glimpse of the lip toppers in all their metallic glory, including swatches from both brands!

On Saturday, Jan. 7, NBA player J.R. Smith of the Cleveland Cavaliers and his wife, Jewel, took to Twitter to "share difficult family news" with their followers. In the one-minute video, J.R. and Jewel reveal the news that their daughter was born a staggering five months early.
"We decided to share with the world what's been going on with our family the past five days," Jewel said. "We know a lot of you guys congratulated us on the expectancy of our little baby girl, but we had her five months early," she revealed. "She's five days old today, and her name is Dakota and she weighs one pound."
Jewel went on to explain why the couple decided to go forward and share their personal news publicly. "We know we're not the only family going through this, who has been through this, and who will ever go through it, so that's why we decided to share what we're going through with you guys," Jewel stated. "Please keep us in your prayers and we'll do the same for everyone else." Watch their full emotional video above.
Women of All Skin Tones Need to Try NYX Cosmetics's Incredible New Foundation
By now, most makeup-lovers know that they can rely on NYX Cosmetics as a resource for testing the latest trends on a budget. The beauty-blogger favorite has just announced another big launch: the Total Control Drop Foundation ($14).
The affordable base comes in a dropper bottle, similar to the serum foundations that many higher-end brands have debuted in recent years. The NYX version is easily customized for the amount of coverage you want. A few drops of the thin liquid results in light coverage, but the wearer can add more drops for fuller coverage. The formula is silky to the touch and dries matte on the skin.
The product is designed to be applied with the Total Control Drop Foundation Brush ($14), which features ultrasoft synthetic bristles with contoured edges for seamless blending.
By far, though, the best part of this launch is its slew of color options. NYX has included 24 shades with various undertones, from pale to deep espresso. Considering the affordability and superb formula of this product, it's definitely worth trying out. Read on to see all the hues in the Total Control Drop Foundation line.
Robert De Niro Thanks Meryl Streep For Her Speech Slamming Trump: "It Needed to Be Said, You Said It Beautifully"
The Golden Globe Awards were full of amazing (and awkward) moments, but the biggest by far was Meryl Streep's passionate acceptance speech for the Cecil B. DeMille Award. In it, she touched on the importance of diversity in Hollywood and America and called out President-elect Donald Trump for his obnoxious, disrespectful behavior. It didn't take long for the bitter reality star to come out swinging against the legendary actress via Twitter, but luckily she has more than a few people in her corner. In addition to messages of support from George Clooney, Ron Howard, and Stephen Colbert, her Marvin's Room costar Robert De Niro wrote a heartfelt letter thanking her for her speech.
"Meryl –
What you said was great. It needed to be said, and you said it beautifully. I have so much respect for you that you did it while the world was celebrating your achievements. I share your sentiments about punks and bullies. Enough is enough. You, with your elegance and intelligence, have a powerful voice – one that inspires others to speak up as they should so their voices will be heard too. It is so important that we ALL speak up.
We love you.
Bob"
We can add him to the long, long list of celebrities who aren't afraid to speak their minds when it comes to the future of our country.

Books, TV Shows, Movies, and More That Help Tame (and Prevent) Tantrums
Books, TV shows, movies, and apps to help tame (and prevent) tantrums from our friends at Common Sense Media.
When you're little, things aren't all fun and games. Big feelings can sweep in without warning -- and the resulting tantrums can be brutal for kids and parents. No one can predict or prevent everything that can cause kids to lose their minds (check out this website if you need proof). But identifying and managing feelings are important skills for kids to learn. When kids can calm themselves, verbally express their feelings, and start to understand what others are feeling, they feel more confident and secure (and parents feel more sane). Age-appropriate books, TV shows, movies, and apps that reinforce positive social-emotional skills can be very effective in helping preschoolers recognize and work through difficult feelings. Try out some of the best media picks.

How Adding Flaxmeal to My Smoothies Helped Me Lose Weight
When I started making smoothies instead of eating an enormous bowl of cereal for breakfast, it was the change I needed to start losing weight. But one ingredient in particular was the real game changer.
Liquid meals can feel less filling than you need them to be. In order to make a liquid meal that keeps hunger at bay for hours, you need to add fiber. I started adding one tablespoon of flaxmeal to my blender. With just 37 calories, it adds two grams of fiber and three grams of filling fat. What is so great about flaxmeal is that when it gets wet, it expands, which makes your belly feel more full and makes it take longer to digest.
Once I started adding this one simple ingredient, I didn't feel hungry until lunchtime, when normally I'd need to reach for a mid-morning snack. Skipping those 150 calories every day started to add up, and suddenly the scale started to budge. This would probably work with chia seeds, too. Try it tomorrow when you make your morning smoothie and see what a difference it makes.
15 Recipes That Combine 2 of the World's Best Ingredients: Avocado and Eggs
There are three things we crave every single morning: coffee, eggs, and avocado. You too? Then keep scrolling to find 15 recipes that combine those last two ingredients and will make waking up at the crack of dawn a happy experience. But, don't worry, there are no rules here; we fully support your desire to eat these at lunch and dinner, too. Now for the java!

These Swatch "Tattoos" Prove Chanel's New Lip Crayons Work on a Variety of Skin Tones
At a time when every brand seems to be launching supermatte lipsticks, Chanel did something unexpected: the French luxury brand released a line of glossy lipstick pencils.
Though the formula is highly pigmented like other popular lip crayons (Nars, Nudestix), it is unique in that is has more satiny texture than its predecessors. This is not your lipstick stamp, but rather a comfortable wash of color that can be blotted off into a stain or intensified with extra layers. It's so easy to wear that celebrities - such as Sienna Miller here - have already opted to rock it on the red carpet.
To get more info on why this product is so special, we consulted with Chanel makeup artist Cyndle Komarovski. "These crayons have the most beautiful moisturizing texture," she said. "Other moisturizing lip pencils I've used in the past, though hydrating, do not have full color coverage. This pencil has both!"
When it comes to applying the pencils, she advises to outline your lips with the tip and then fill it in. No extra products required!
But since they are a bit slippery - which is also what makes them so moisturizing - she offered a savvy hack for making them stay all day. "For extreme long wear, try this makeup artist trick," she said. "Start by gently exfoliating your lips with a warm washcloth to remove any dead skin. Apply lip color, then hold a tissue over your lips and use a fluffy powder brush to dust a coat of translucent powder over the tissue. This is setting the lipstick in place. Remove tissue and apply one more coat of lipstick."
The 11-shade range just launched at chanel.com, and to help you find your perfect color, Cyndle tested six of the hues on three POPSUGAR staffers of diverse skin tones. We chose hues ranging from neutrals to bold berries on pale, medium, and dark complexions.
Plus, since we love swatches, tiny tattoos, and Chanel so much; Cyndle drew mini swatch "tattoos" themed as Chanel motifs (like flowers, stars, and double "C"s)! If you're a Chanel fangirl, get ready for some serious Parisian-inspired chicness.
A Series of Unfortunate Events: Here's Where Season 1 Leaves Off
By the time the curtain drops on the first season of Netflix's A Series of Unfortunate Events, there are a lot of plates spinning, a phrase which here means, "there's a lot of information to keep track of." Certain mysteries have pretty clear answers by the time the finale finishes: we knew in advance that we'd plop down right at the end of the fourth book, and we now know what the deal is with those parents (played by Cobie Smulders and Will Arnett). In weaving such a mysterious and enigmatic tapestry, though, there are still other things to keep track of that are a bit more speculative. Looking for a rundown of all the loose ends, cliffhangers, and more when it comes to the finale? Look no further.
1. Where the Story Leaves Off
In the final minutes of the season, Mr. Poe has taken the Baudelaires to the Prufrock Preparatory School. This is the setting for book five of the series, called The Austere Academy. In these final minutes, the Quagmires experience a devastating fire, leading to the perceived deaths of the Quagmire parents as well as Quigley, one of the triplets. Violet, Sonny, and Klaus end the episode back to back with Duncan and Isadora Quagmire; both parties have a corresponding piece of the mysterious spyglass Klaus first finds in the ruins of the Baudelaire mansion. The season ends with a musical number, sung by the entire cast. The primary message of the song is, "you're probably hoping this gets better, but it's only going to get worse."
2. The Sinister, Implicit Backstory of Lemony Snicket
There are a few disconcerting things to note about Snicket as the first season wraps. The first is that he seems to be on the run from the authorities. Near the end of the eighth episode, he hastily packs up the hotel room he's been staying in as two men in suits attempt to track him down. The second is that he appears to have a direct connection to Count Olaf. The two are pictured together on a shelf at Prufrock Preparatory School. This, of course, is something that's hinted at in the books as well: Lemony Snicket is not just the narrator of the Baudelaire story. He's got a personal stake in it. It'll be interesting to see how the show fleshes this out.
3. The Interesting Addition of Jacquelyn
We've already spoken a bit about the badass new character known as Jacquelyn. She's already proven to be a valuable ally to the Baudelaires; she's clearly hell-bent on locking Olaf away, and she even returns the stolen spyglass piece to Klaus before the season's end. Could she serve a greater purpose as we go deeper into the story? Does she represent a missing piece that was tragically left out of the books? It's totally possible.
4. The Fate of the Baudelaire Parents
Now that we know Arnett and Smulders are actually the Quagmire parents, the odds of a Baudelaire fire survivor are looking pretty bleak. But hey, the books always hinted that at least one of the two parents (very likely Beatrice) managed to escape death. You can still hold out hope. When you consider how we got a hefty bit of Quagmire backstory (something that wasn't in the books), it's entirely possible we'll get an even more in-depth look at the secret organization and the Baudelaire and Quagmire parents' involvement therein.
5. The Beginnings of the V.F.D. Mystery
If you haven't read the book series, it's worth noting that the secret organization behind everything goes by the mysterious initials of "V.F.D." There were nods to the initials throughout the first season: Klaus and Violet consult a "Verified Functional Dictionary" during the "Miserable Mill" episodes, and Jacquelyn mentions a "Vigorously Fixed Destination" in the "Bad Beginning" episodes. This is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the secret society, and we can only imagine that season two will dig deeper.

Justin Timberlake Has the Most Hilarious Reaction to Hearing That Jessica Biel Is Pregnant
What do you get when you team Jessica Biel up with Ellen DeGeneres? A very shocked Justin Timberlake, that's what. The morning after giggling her way down the red carpet at the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday, Jessica stopped by Ellen's show, where the talk-show host wasted no time in stealing her phone and giving Justin a call. Ellen tried to convince the Trolls actor that he and Jessica were expecting a new baby, but he didn't take the bait. "I can't wait to find out whose it is!" he joked, after revealing that he was in the middle of whipping up a snack for their adorable son, Silas. The couple - who always look like they're having a blast together - clearly have one hilarious bond.
He Did It Again! See 1 Man Transform Into Mariah Carey With Makeup
Mariah Carey has earned the adoration of millions for her incredible singing voice, her passion for the holiday season, and (of course), the way she throws shade. Recently, one fan in particular paid homage to the legendary artist using his own talent: drag makeup.
Paolo Ballesteros, the host of Filipino TV show Eat Bulaga! is internationally recognized for his uncanny ability to transform into celebrities with cosmetics. On Jan. 9, he flawlessly mimicked Mariah Carey's style in a new post to his Instagram feed.
Take a close look: Ballesteros has chiseled his cheeks like hers, exaggerated his eye shape to achieve Mimi's large peepers, and is rocking the star's signature nude lip. However, this isn't the first time he's copied the elusive chanteuse. Read on to see one of his first transformation posts to Instagram (from three and a half years ago!) in Mariah's likeness.

The Most Badass Character on A Series of Unfortunate Events Isn't in the Books
Now that Netflix's A Series of Unfortunate Events has finally dropped, we've seen to it that we positively devoured the tragic story of the Baudelaire children. With the newest adaptation of Lemony Snicket's novels, we're extra sensitive to the changes that have been made in translating the source material. The first and biggest change, of course, is the parents that are sneaking around for a large part of the series. (Who, by the way, are not the Baudelaire parents, bu we digress.) There's another huge change, though, that comes right in the second episode: it's the addition of a new, badass character named Jacquelyn.
At first glance, it seems like Jacquelyn is just the very suspicious secretary of Mr. Poe. Within a few minutes of meeting her, though, it's clear she's so much more. Jacquelyn is directly involved with the same top secret organization as the Baudelaire and Quagmire parents. She's also in cahoots with Gustav, and she chases Count Olaf down after the murder of Montgomery Montgomery. You might remember her from the trailer: she's the one who pulls the harpoon gun.
The strange thing about Jacquelyn is that she and Count Olaf seem to have a history. "We meet again," he says when he sees her. The other strange thing is that she pretty much vanishes after episode four. We do know that she returns the broken spyglass to Klaus through Mr. Poe by the end of the season, so she's (probably) still alive. But as to how she'll factor into the rest of the series? We'll just have to wait and see. Even so, it's nice to see a fierce guardian angel helping the Baudelaires behind the scenes. Hopefully she'll be back for season two.

#TGIAnytime: Family Viewing Has Come Full Circle
I'm not one to brag, but I had a pretty good childhood. We didn't have a lot of money, so it had nothing to do with toys, games, the newest clothes, or other tangible things.
Sundays were always my favorite day. Every once in awhile, we could convince my dad to let us wheel the TV from their bedroom into the kitchen and watch something together during dinner. Whether we flipped over to watch 60 Minutes on CBS or The Wonderful World of Disney on ABC, it didn't matter. We all loved our fancy TV dinners. (I know, I know. That's not what is meant by "TV dinner." I was much older before I realized what they really were!)
I don't know how, but over the years, we found time to watch so many quality shows together. Maybe it's because when we had time to sit down and watch TV, we flipped between the three available channels and picked something. Yes, three channels.
Back then, shows were only on during prime time. The later part of prime time was bedtime, and before prime time was the news. The rest of the day included nothing but game shows (yay) and soap operas (bleh).
Fast-forward a (cough) few years. Now that I have a family of my own, we make time to watch TV together. In addition to regular game nights, family viewing is a wonderful way to bond and create opportunities for dialogue. Just as I did when I was their age, it isn't uncommon for the kids to ask if we can watch TV while eating dinner. Unlike my childhood, we have more choices than simply three channels to choose from. In actuality, with Netflix, we are able to select a show of our choosing and stream it when we're ready.
And the choices are endless. We can watch a documentary or a sitcom. A drama or an action show. Something real or something imagined. Something conservative or something cutting edge. The one consistent is we select shows that will appeal to the entire family and create a conversation that will extend beyond the screen.
I just learned recently that Netflix has started filming reboots of some of my favorite shows that I grew up with but were only shown during certain nights of the week. One of them being Norman Lear's show, One Day at a Time. What I found interesting is the show is utilizing the same script but with a new family, and the issues they experienced then are still relevant . . . and they make for great viewing. But the beauty of all of these remakes is we can watch them anytime - not just during family dinner time anymore.
Our meals, TV, and schedules are far different than when I was a kid, but our family viewing habits, including shows, have come full circle. With new Netflix reboots, such as Fuller House and Gilmore Girls, we are able to enjoy the classics on our own schedule. Or as we're calling it, #TGIAnytime with Netflix.
I couldn't be happier because it reminds me of my wonderful childhood and gives me hope that my kids will look back as fondly as I have.

Michelle Obama's 6 Most Important Fashion Statements and Why They Matter
Michelle Obama came into the White House with great expectations. On the eve of the 2009 inauguration, which also happened to be Martin Luther King Day, The New York Times said Obama had "power to influence the nation’s sense of identity, its fashion trends, its charitable causes and its perceptions of black women and their families.” She rose to the occasion.
Beyond being the country's first black first lady, Michelle Obama brought other unique and powerful qualities to the symbolic role. She projected confidence, a modern sensibility, and approachability. Undoubtedly knowing the press would report on her every outfit, Michelle used her fashion choices to express her values.
"Her legacy is all about style and substance," said Kate Betts, author of 2011's Everyday Icon: Michelle Obama and the Power of Style. "She understood right away that she could use style to transmit a message of confidence and strength to young women who were watching her, young women who understood that Michelle Obama had worked hard and used her brain to get to a place very few people thought she could get. Her style is a way of standing out, letting people know what she stands for."
She projected confidence, a modern sensibility, and approachability.Using her fashion to communicate sometimes meant choosing an unknown designer over a safer mainstream choice for major events. She traded her heels for Converse sneakers so she could garden or jog across the White House's South Lawn during a Let's Move! event. She wore off-the-rack designs from places like J.Crew and H&M for press appearances, which made her more accessible to everyday Americans. "She wanted young women to see that being first lady was attainable, something you could work for and achieve," Betts explained. "It was no longer this mythical, inaccessible post. And she also wanted to use her position to speak about the things that matter most to her, like health, education, healthy eating, and supporting young girls."
One of Obama's favorite designers, Naeem Khan, agreed that her approach to fashion made her relatable: "She is so normal when it comes to wearing what she wears. She can go from wearing J.Crew to dressed in my things, which are super glamorous." Khan pointed out that as first lady, she didn't go for a name itself, but instead for what she liked. "It's important how she has actually cultivated and put the designers in front."
Nothing Michelle Obama does is an accident, she told us during an interview at the White House in October. Speaking about her television appearances, the first lady said, "We always know why we do Ellen and the message points we're trying to get out. The fun part is just the hook, but if you really listen to all the appearances, if you follow closely, there's an underlying message and it's powerful how it actually resonates, even through the jokes."
We can assume that this thoughtful approach applies to the first lady's fashion choices, too - she's not the type to choose a dress simply because she thinks it's pretty. With each designer, brand, or style she chose, Obama sent a message, which makes it hard to choose her most important looks. But we've tried, selecting six that represent how she made her mark on the fashion world and American culture. Now let's look back at the most powerful messages Michelle Obama sent through her style these past eight years.
Jason Wu at the Inaugural Ball, January 2009The Moment: The Obamas' first Inaugural Ball. After appearing on stage, the couple danced to a rendition of Etta James's "At Last" performed by Beyoncé Knowles.
The Outfit: A one-shouldered white silk chiffon gown embellished with organza flowers and Swarovski crystals.
The Designer: Jason Wu, then 26 years old and based in NYC. Relatively unknown at the time, he had no idea the new first lady had chosen his design until he saw it on television.
The Impact: Hope was the message of the 2008 Obama campaign, and this white gown - reminiscent of a wedding dress - echoed it perfectly. Young and proud, the Obamas looked like a newly married couple ready to stick it out for better and for worse in the White House. It made them relatable and also acted as a symbol for America's desire for a fresh start.
The Obamas looked like a newly married couple ready to stick it out for better and for worse in the White House.Just like American voters took a risk on relative newcomer Barack Obama, Michelle Obama chose to elevate Jason Wu with her inaugural gown, straying from first lady standbys like Oscar de la Renta (worn by both Hillary Clinton and Laura Bush at inaugural balls). Instead, Obama gave new faces a chance throughout her time as first lady. "Sophie Theallet, Thakoon Panichgul, Isabel Toledo, Jason Wu - none of these designers were well-known globally," Betts explained. "She really reached out to a diverse group of talent and gave them an incredible global platform. No other first lady in my memory has done so much to support young designers."
Naeem Khan at the First State Dinner, November 2009The Moment: The Obamas' first state dinner, thrown for India's prime minister. The evening offered the first lady a chance to define her formal style.
The Outfit: A gold strapless dress with a print inspired by Andy Warhol.
The Designer: Naeem Khan, 50 years old at the time and an Indian immigrant to America. Khan moved from India to NYC when he was 20 and worked for Halston. While he had enjoyed success in the fashion industry, the state dinner made him a household name. "I was actually super shocked," he recalled. "It was just before Thanksgiving. The whole thing went viral. It went so global, it was crazy."
The Impact: This dress signaled Michelle Obama's desire to be a modern first lady. It had a glittering Andy Warhol-inspired print. It showed off her arms and hugged her figure. She wasn't going to hide behind taffeta.
Her choice of designer was also significant. "Me being an Indian-American designer, it was politically important," Khan noted. "There is a great interaction between the first lady and the designer to send the message." Khan explained that he used the opportunity to blend the best of India and America. "The shape of the dress was super simple. It was totally American." But for the embroidery, he employed a traditional Indian technique. "When I was a little boy, I would go up to my grandfather's factories and they used to make sequins of 24-karat gold and sterling silver by hand. So I embroidered the poppies with those techniques that were going around India for hundreds of years."
Converse at Let's Move! Event, May 2010The Moment: Shortly after launching her Let's Move! campaign in January 2010, the first lady kicked off the South Lawn series by exercising with local school children at the White House to promote physical activity.
The Outfit: A sleeveless printed top, loose black pants, and Converse sneakers.
The Designer: Converse sneakers with a patent leather flair.
The Impact: By trading the traditional pumps for a pair of Converse, Obama used her fashion choices to get her message across. For one, Converse is an American brand, as a subsidiary of Nike.
Betts recalled a similar moment when the first lady actually kicked off her shoes during a healthy-living event in 2009. "To see the first lady running barefoot across the South Lawn, engaging in this very energetic way, was wonderful," she recalled. "It wasn't about what she was wearing so much as it was about her attitude and her energy and her charisma. That to me is style."
"It wasn't about what she was wearing so much as it was about her attitude and her energy and her charisma."It's those moments that Michelle believes will define her legacy. When we asked, "What will be the lasting image of your time as first lady?” she replied, "It will probably be me doing push-ups, sit-ups. It will be me in some physical form, dancing, jumping, laughing, surrounded by kids." Obama changed the game by flooding popular culture with images of a first lady we had never seen before.
Thom Browne Coat With a J.Crew Belt at Inauguration Day, January 2013The Moment: President Obama's swearing in for his second presidential term.
The Outfit: A custom fit-and-flare coat from Thom Browne belted with a sparkly find from J.Crew.
The Designer: Thom Browne, 47 at the time and an American menswear-turned-womenswear designer based in New York. Also, J.Crew, the all-American retail store.
The Impact: By pairing a bespoke designer coat with an accessory most Americans could get at their local mall, Michelle Obama signaled that she didn't fit into a simple box. She was letting her sense of style, not dedication to high-end fashion labels, drive her fashion choices.
If you can find something in common with the first lady, you might be more willing to listen to what she has to say.Of course, there was also a political advantage to choosing an accessible brand. As Betts points out in her book, Obama's style changed significantly during the 2008 presidential campaign. She retired the power suits from her time as a healthcare executive and lawyer and instead began to favor everyday "mom" labels. While this was surely a calculated move, it also made her more relatable to modern American young women. She chose brands like J.Crew and H&M that many of us have in our closets. If you can find something in common with the first lady, you might be more willing to listen to what she has to say.
Tracy Reese at the 50th Anniversary of the March on Washington, August 2013The Moment: A ceremony to commemorate 50 years since Martin Luther King Jr.'s March on Washington and “I Have a Dream” speech.
The Outfit: A flared, sleeveless black dress with large scarlet flowers with beaded centers.
The Designer: Tracy Reese, 49 at the time and a successful American designer based in New York. Known for her use of colors and graphics, Reese is one of the many black designers worn by Michelle Obama.
The Impact: Michelle Obama chose a black designer for the important civil rights anniversary. The print was bold and elegant, just like Obama, and allowed her to stand out against the backdrop of the Lincoln Memorial. The juxtaposition of the gray statue of the president who emancipated American slaves with the vibrancy of the first lady’s dress gave the impression of bringing history to life.
Narciso Rodriguez at State of the Union, January 2016The Moment: President Obama's final State of the Union address to Congress.
The Outfit: A sleeveless wool crepe marigold dress.
The Designer: Narciso Rodriguez, then 54, a Cuban-American designer who famously designed the dress Carolyn Bessette wore to marry John F. Kennedy Jr.
The Impact: Standing out in a sea of dark suits, Obama shined in marigold. At the lectern, her husband said he had a sunny outlook for America, and the first lady backed that message of hope with her fashion. She also wore Narciso Rodriguez at Barack Obama's election night victory event in 2008 and his first address to a joint session of Congress in 2009. The designer's Cuban roots helped highlight the president's work reestablishing diplomatic relationships with the country, potentially an important moment in his legacy.
The dress also showed off Obama's much talked-about feature: her arms. In 2009, when the first lady wore a sleeveless dress to the same occasion, the choice got much attention. The New York Times wrote: "It is February and Washington is freezing, but in appearance after appearance, the first lady displays her long, muscular arms. She is sleeveless on the cover of the new Vogue, she was sleeveless when she discussed menus on Sunday in the White House kitchen, and last night she was sleeveless again, in the House chamber for her husband’s first address to Congress. (All of the other women in the room seemed to be wearing long sleeves; a few even wore turtlenecks)." Fast-forward to 2016: Michelle hadn't given into convention, and it was now no big scandal to see some arm skin in Congress.
Michelle Obama's Lasting LegacyMichelle Obama's style choices will go down as an important part of her legacy. She used clothes to express confidence. "She gave women permission to dress for themselves, to be feminine and powerful at once," Betts acknowledged. As one of the most photographed women in the world, she also demonstrated the power of style to draw attention to issues important to her. As Betts concluded: "She showed us that style is about much more than what we wear - it's about how we present ourselves, what we say, what we stand for."
"She gave women permission to dress for themselves, to be feminine and powerful at once."Naeem Khan thinks she stands up to other political fashion icons. "Michelle Obama is up there. She is more than Jackie Kennedy." He goes on: "I feel that Mrs. Obama had so many more resources than Jackie did. Jackie was wearing two designers, three designers. Mrs. Obama has access to the internet and more. The global power that she has and the impressions she's made with fashion are far more impactful."

The Disturbing Reason You'll Want to Avoid Alaskan Salmon at All Costs
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released an official warning about the possible presence of Diphyllobothrium - otherwise known as a Japanese tapeworm - in Alaskan salmon. Oh, you were thinking about sushi tonight? You should probably skip the salmon sashimi.
While this tapeworm was believed to only affect fish in Asia, this new study proves otherwise. The summary of the CDC's report reads as follows.
"Diphyllobothriosis is reemerging because of global importation and increased popularity of eating raw fish. We detected Diphyllobothrium nihonkaiense plerocercoids in the musculature of wild pink salmon (Oncorhynchus gorbuscha) from Alaska, USA. Therefore, salmon from the American and Asian Pacific coasts and elsewhere pose potential dangers for persons who eat these fish raw."
This means that salmon you eat from anywhere in - or outside of - the US could potentially be contaminated. Why? "Because Pacific salmon are frequently exported unfrozen, on ice, plerocercoids (larvae) may survive transport and cause human infections," the study claims. If you're wondering about the symptoms of a tapeworm, the answer is a little tricky (those who get squeamish easily should should click at their own risk).
According to a professor of preventive medicine named William Schaffner, who spoke to CNN about the study, "Most of the people who are infected don't have symptoms. Some feel a little bit of abdominal discomfort, some have nausea or loose stools, and some even lose a little weight." However, if it gets bad enough, you'll know. "The reason you know you have tapeworms is you look in your stool and you find bits of tapeworm floating in the water," he added.
We Need to Talk About That Hot Mesh Swimsuit Jennifer Lawrence Wears in Passengers
It's not uncommon for us to leave the movie theater itching to shop. This year gave way to plenty of films packed with stylish looks, from Natalie Portman's Chanel suit in Jackie to Emma Stone's yellow dress in La La Land. While you might not expect Passengers to be a film that sparks your fashion senses, it turns out Jennifer Lawrence couldn't leave us hanging.
The actress, who plays Aurora, wears a white mesh one-piece throughout a handful of scenes, including the clip below. Its zipper-front closure lends it a sporty touch, but the piece reminds us of a lingerie bodysuit, making it equally sexy. If you're headed somewhere warm, it's just the right time to pick up the Melissa Odabash design. But even if you're stationed at home, why not invest in some trusty, flattering swimwear and keep it on the back burner? Obviously J Law would approve.

Their glamorous wedding in 2004 was a true fairy-tale event; the birth of their two daughters, Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofía, a cause for major celebration; and their everyday official appearances and trips, always total treats where they look smiley and just absolutely happy.
From the way Felipe helps Letizia down the steps every time she's in heels to the mischievous looks and whispers they share at public hearings, it's pretty obvious that the affection between these two lovebirds only gets stronger as time goes by. They truly are one supercute couple - see what we mean by scrolling through their most adorable moments here.
