You've Got to See This Hysterical Interview Between a Dad and His 14-Month-Old
We all have burning questions for our children that we wish they could answer in a helpful way, specifically regarding why they won't sleep in normal patterns or share anything with anyone. In what may be the most thrilling parenting interview conducted this year, La Guardia Cross, father to 14-month-old Amalah (viral beatboxing star), asks some of these pressing questions, which produce - as you can imagine - hilarious results.
La Guardia gets right into it and asks Amalah the big questions, such as, "Why do you choose to not financially contribute to the family?" You know, typical questions that you, too, would ask your toddler. However, what makes this video laugh-out-loud funny is not the interview itself but the way La Guardia has edited the clips of Amalah, complete with subtitles of her sassy responses.
Watch the video to see Amalah and her daddy in action and to learn a thing or two about toddler deception.

There are some brides who ask guests to unplug at their wedding, and some who ask guests to go all out with the photo snapping and sharing. If you're the second type of bride, you're probably already brainstorming your wedding hashtag - you know, the one phrase that guests will use on Instagram and Twitter to round up pictures of your big day. Instead of the more standard conventions you've probably seen all over the place (something like, say, KardashianWestWedding or KimandKanye2014), we bring you 21 unique, creative ideas you haven't thought of. Of course, replace them with your own names, initials, wedding locations, and such to make them special to your big day.

*Maybe better for a bachelor/bachelorette party than a wedding?
9 Ways to Stop Living the Lazy-Girl Fashion Life and Get Your Act Together
If there's one thing in this world I excel at, it's being lazy. I've waited for the laundry basket to overflow before throwing clothes in the wash. I've canceled party plans in favor of sitting on the couch watching Netflix. I snooze my alarm, chill out in my towel, and have perfected the art of picking things up with my feet. (I could probably text with my toes by now, but I'm too lazy to try.)
I didn't see any of this an issue until recently, when I realized - BAM! - my laziness had somehow creeped its way into my wardrobe. Around last Fall, I had adopted the ultimate lazy girl motto, comfort over everything, but looking back at photos, it dawned on me: comfy ain't always cute.
No matter what they call them, joggers are probably just sweatpants. Oversize sweaters will always be baggy. And some outfits just look better with heels.
I'm trying to remind myself of the real reason I fell in love with fashion: as a way of expressing myself; it's the message I'm sending out to world. Do I want really want that message to be "Girl who woke up late and threw on the only thing that wasn't wrinkled"? Nope, not really. I'd much rather be polished, professional, and always put-together.
I imagine many women, especially as they grow older, have a hard time letting the lazy girl go, so I compiled some tips I'm using to stay on track. Because while I won't be giving up binge-watching (too many shows, not enough time) or towel chilling (some of my best thinking is done then), it's time to say goodbye and embrace the fierce, fashionable woman I know I can be.
The 6 Things I Do Every Sunday to Stay Healthy All Week
My Sundays are definitely not a day of rest. Far from it. It's the one day I devote to getting everything ready for my healthy week ahead. Take a glimpse into my Sunday. It may sounds a little nuts to jam-pack this much on a weekend day, but it sets me up for success. I know that if I don't plan ahead, I'm looking at skipped workouts and bowls of cereal for dinner.
Morning Workout
An early morning workout is a must for me on Sundays, not only because I teach a 9 a.m. Power Vinyasa class, but even if I didn't, I'd still make it a priority to get in a workout first thing. It energizes me all day, ensures I don't skip out, and gets me into the working-out mindset I want to continue throughout the week.
Meal Planning
I used to head to the grocery store with a big list of healthy foods. I found that not only would I grab things that never got used (RIP bunches of asparagus), but since I had no set plan, every day was a little stressful trying to scramble healthy meals together. Oftentimes I'd get home from picking up the kids at 5 p.m. and just make pasta and a bag of frozen veggies because it was easiest.
Now I take time to plan out my meals. Breakfast is simple - just a protein and greens smoothie or overnight oats. Lunch is a big salad, and I do something basic but healthy for each dinner of the week.
Here's an example of my weekly dinner plan:
Sunday: Potato Leek and White Bean Soup
Monday: Quinoa and Black Beans With Green Beans and Broccoli
Tuesday: Tofu, Veggie, and Rice (or Farro) Stir-Fry
Wednesday: Maple-Cumin Lentils Over Spaghetti Squash
Thursday: Avocado Pasta With Edamame, Tomatoes, and Roasted Cauliflower
Friday: Black Bean, Corn, and Roasted Sweet Potato Burritos
Saturday: Homemade Pizza With Roasted Mushrooms, Red Peppers, Tomatoes, Basil, and Tofu
I even write it out on a big chalkboard that I keep in my kitchen, so I can quickly glance at it in the morning and know what I need to do to get dinner done later.
Grocery Shop
Once I know what I'm making, I hit up the local grocery store as well as Trader Joe's (I love its marinated tofu and dairy-free mozzarella shreds!). I bring the kiddos along so we can not only spend time together, but so I can also teach them about healthy eating. I find if they help choose what to throw in the cart, they're more likely to eat it.
Meal Prep
Once I get home and put the groceries away, it's quite a scene in my kitchen with cutting board, knives, tons of glass containers, and veggies laid across my counter. I make 10 salads for the week (want the hubs to eat healthy too!); cut up sweet potatoes, cauliflower, broccoli, and red peppers for roasting; and cut up onions and other veggies for the stir-fry, as well as white potatoes (for that evening's soup). I also cook up one cup of quinoa and one cup of rice to use for dinners later that week. Getting done whatever I can on Sunday makes a huge difference at 5 p.m. when I need to make dinner for my famished family. If I have time, I'll also prep overnight oats for the week or freezer smoothie packs.
Gym Bag Ready
Aside from regular laundry, I make a point to wash all the workout clothes I'll need for the week: sports bras, tops, running and yoga bottoms, and socks. If I'm really on the ball, I'll fold and put these things in my drawers so I can easily grab them for early a.m. workouts.
Workout Schedule
Workouts don't just happen for me since I work and have a family and house to take care of. I have to set aside time, and since my schedule can be different from week to week, it helps to look ahead and jot down on my calendar workout "appointments." It's typically a run with some TRX and yoga from 6 to 7 a.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, then a longer run with my mommy-runner friends on Saturday morning, and yoga Sunday mornings. If it's written in ink on the calendar, it's more likely to happen.

How Did La La Land Pull Off That Insane, Fantastical Opening Number?
As one of the most romantic and transformative films of 2016, La La Land is filled to the brim with whimsy and magic. Even without seeing the film, the gorgeous musical soundtrack and fanciful trailers are enough to give you a sense of what you're in for. Perhaps the most thrilling aspect of La La Land, in this respect, is that it wastes no time plunging audiences into its rose-tinted musical wonderland. We're talking about the opening sequence: during a particularly grueling freeway traffic jam on a hot Summer day (a dead-on representation of LA if I've ever seen one), a chorus of drivers emerges for an epic song-and-dance number right on the rooftops of their grid-locked cars.
There was always the chance that a feat of this magnitude could have been pulled off with elaborate sets and a soundstage, but that's not the case here. In a new chat with Entertainment Weekly, director Damien Chazelle explains how they pulled off the musical number . . . right on the very highways of the city itself. We've pulled the main highlights to break own how he made it happen.
La La Land Is the Most Romantic Movie of the Year - and Also, of Many Years
Wondering What Happens at the End of La La Land? We Got You
La La Land: Is That Really Ryan Gosling Playing the Piano?!
- Why Chazelle wanted to kick off with this sequence: "A lot of things were smashing together at the outset. First, I always wanted to do a shot where you go from car to car with each radio playing a radically different kind of music. I wanted it to feel like a city bustling with music . . . but this is Los Angeles. The cacophony of sounds is coming out of cars. And I loved the idea of presenting the soundscape of the city that way. And then the second idea was using that soundscape to build into an opening musical number and having a fantastical musical number arise out of a bunch of realistic city sounds."
- How he came up with the idea: "The scene came from me living in LA and being in traffic all the time, thinking about either wanting to shoot myself or dance . . . now that I live in LA and have fallen deeply in love with the city, to start La La Land with the thing that literally freaked me out the most about LA as a kid . . . that kind of endless grind of traffic, where most of what you see around you is concrete and you're surrounded by smog and exhaust fumes and burning sunlight."
- The main logistics: "We shut down an E-Z pass over-ramp. We shut it down for a Saturday and a Sunday in August of 2015 for the actual filming, but a week before that we got permission to shut it down for part of one Saturday so that we could do a dress rehearsal. Ironically, we got the dance and the camera moves to such a precise layout in prep during the parking lot rehearsals, that I and my key collaborators almost got a little overconfident. In retrospect, that [rehearsal] day saved us. I'd been using my iPhone camera during rehearsals but obviously a large crane is a lot more complicated than an iPhone. There were little things we hadn't even thought about. The interstate ramp is slanted, it's never flat. You're dealing with the heat, the sun burning down on the car tops. And the crane, there's heavy winds that high up."
- The big day: "[The dress rehearsal] allowed us to go in the next weekend and get it all done in two days. I wouldn't say it was easy - it was a really hot August weekend in LA - but we got what we wanted. And without those months of prep and dress rehearsal, I don't think we would have been able to."
This Harry Potter-Themed Pasta Restaurant Will Put a Carb Spell on You
In a perfect world, we'd be able to say "accio pasta," and a plate of cheesy carbs would appear right in front of us. A new restaurant in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, called Pasta Wiz is making that dream a pretty close reality with its Harry Potter-inspired menu and decor. Inside the restaurant, you'll get serious Gryffindor Common Room vibes from the dark red couches, gothic chandeliers, and pillar candles as you twirl your spaghetti.
The menu itself is even more magical: the organic pasta is made fresh daily, and you can choose from spaghetti, fettuccine, fusilli, and radiatore. You order at the counter (which is topped with a Sorting Hat, naturally) as you choose your own toppings, like spinach, mushrooms, or meatballs, and then finish your plate with the sauce of your choice, including Wizard Mix (pesto), Grandma's Tomato, Spicy Arrabbiata, Merlin Mix, or Vegan Wiz.
"We decided Pasta Wiz, it's like a wizard magical place, so we've made it Harry Potter-style. We decorated in a Harry Potter-style," the owner, Alex Dimitrov, told Gothamist in an interview. Ahead, get a glimpse of the food and interior of the wizard-approved restaurant, and consider yourself lucky if you live in or near Brooklyn. The rest of us will just have to figure out a way to apparate there ASAP.

This Bride Married a Walking Dead Star in a Wedding Dress Few Would Dare to Wear
Purple isn't a color we come to expect from a wedding dress, which is why our eyes landed on bride Joana Pak who married The Walking Dead's Steven Yeun on Saturday. As the couple posed for a wedding snapshot, our eyes immediately zoomed in on the soft lavender hue of Joana's strapless gown. In a simple and minimalist move, she chose to forgo accessories and kept her hair pulled back in a loose fishtail braid.
This isn't the first time a bride has ditched the traditional white wedding gown, which is why we wouldn't mind seeing a few more brides slip into more colorful pieces. Though we only have this one snap of Joana's dress, we luckily found five purple dresses for daring brides-to-be. If you're feeling a wedding dress with a little more flair and excitement, shop the picks ahead.

Mom Shares How Breast Milk Helped Heal Her Son Who Was Born Without a Heartbeat
"I remember it like it was yesterday, being told my son would have no quality of life . . . being told to just 'pull the plug,'" starts a post to the Love What Matters Facebook page. Trisha Long Bell tells the story of how her son Ezrah was born without a pulse, heartbeat, or oxygen to his brain, and was diagnosed with severe brain damage. Feeling helpless and like her body had failed her son, Bell realized that she could provide her son in that moment with something no one else could: her breast milk.
"I knew this was what I needed to do, without question, no matter how hard it got," she wrote. "He was fighting for his life, and this was the only way I could truly give him my all! I didn't know if my milk would do much for his injury, but I had so much faith that it would. I had no idea how quickly I would learn the power of Mother's Milk. It is simply pure MAGIC! And Now, 14 months later, I know my milk has played a part in healing my child's brain injury. I KNOW it."
Alongside her powerful story, Bell shared a photo of Ezrah nursing. "Women's bodies are SO incredible. The way we are so connected to our children. The way our bodies know exactly what to do during childbirth. The way we heal . . . This picture shows MY MILK healing his little brain. . . . This picture will forever be so close to my heart."

After a Second, You'll Realize the Best Part of Amal Clooney's Outfit Isn't Her Dress
Even when dressed down, Amal Clooney still manages to look polished. For a Netflix documentary screening in London, Amal traded her power suit for a classic floral shift dress. Though the colorful print initially drew our attention to the Dolce & Gabbana dress, her tights are pretty special, too. When you zoom in, you can see intricate leaf-like designs. The subtle print didn't detract from the bolder florals of her dress, which is why we almost missed it.
Leave it to Amal to once again prove she's a true fashion innovator. She managed expertly to mix two different prints in one outfit for a night out. Scroll on to see the full details of her outfit, then take a cue from the star and shop similar picks for your own pattern-mixing look.
Jennifer Aniston Has Been Wearing This Boot Style Since Her Friends Days
Friends may have aired its final episode back in 2004, but part of us will always view Jennifer Aniston as Rachel Green - especially when the star channels her alter ego with her outfit. Attending Entertainment Weekly's PopFest, Jen walked the red carpet in a very "Rachel" look: a black button-down, suede skirt, tights, and one of the character's signature shoes (especially from the earlier years), knee-high boots. It was nice to see that, despite all those years, some things haven't changed, and that Jen can make us covet her style just as badly as we did the first time around.

To ease your transition into the world of vegetable "pasta," try the following 21 recipes that don't skimp on the cheese or the flavor.

Essie Launches 2 New Collections That Make a Case For Nail Health
When Essie introduced its Gel Couture collection last year, the new bottle wasn't the only thing that made our beauty-loving hearts skip a beat. The iconic brand had finally given us its solution to fatiguing (and pricey) salon gel manicures, which after numerous applications weaken even the strongest of nails.
This month, Essie is launching an extension of its Gel Couture collection with six new delicate shades inspired by the ballet. If you think about it, the relationship makes perfect sense. Mastering the art of ballet takes finesse and precision, which is exactly what the masterminds behind the collection wanted to convey. Each bottle will run you a cool $12, but the long-lasting shades will withstand up to two weeks of wear and tear if you're careful.
In conjunction with the new launch, Essie introduced a brand-new hybrid line that combines nail color and nail care. Dubbed the "BB cream of nails," the Treat Love & Color collection professes to improve overall nail health over time by giving them a little extra TLC. The formula boasts collagen, camellia leaf extracts, and brightening pigments, but our favorite part is that the polish doesn't require a base or top coat. Each of the three shades retails for $10, so consider it an investment in your beauty routine.
Keep scrolling for a look at both collections, which are available now.

This School District Shut Down Every Student Asking For a Snow Day in the Most Hilarious Tweets Ever
When students from the Cherokee County School District in Georgia saw the rare opportunity for a snow day last week, they took to Twitter to express their excitement. But when the surrounding districts gave their students a day off and the Cherokee students still had school, they tweeted at the district's Twitter account, having no idea that the person running the account was a hilariously savage person, ready to unleash a fury of sarcasm shutting down their requests for a snow day.
Although the parents of the district may have been relieved that there was no snow day, the kids would not give up their persistent begging and bribing for the day off. One student offered to give the person running the account a dollar for the day off, to which the district responded, "$1?? Who do you think I am, McDonalds?" - and that was only the start.

Selena Gomez Poses Topless in an NSFW Photo
Selena Gomez is known for posting sexy photos on Instagram, but this latest one might be her most scandalous yet. Fresh off her PDA-filled night out with The Weeknd, the "Hands to Myself" singer stripped down to nothing but a gold thong and matching hoop earrings for an impromptu photo shoot with celebrity photographer Mert Alas on Wednesday. "Beauty and the Beast," he captioned the now-deleted snap. The NSFW photo comes just a few months after Selena's triumphant return to the spotlight at the American Music Awards after she checked into rehab to focus on her mental health. When accepting her award for favorite female artist, she got very emotional as she famously told her fans, "I don't want to see your bodies on Instagram. I want to see what's in here," signaling to her heart. She may not be following her own advice this time, but we definitely don't mind.

Jada Pinkett Smith Looks Flawless While Hitting the Beach With Her Kids in Hawaii
Jada Pinkett Smith recently jetted off to Hawaii to enjoy a tropical vacation with her family, but while the blue water and palm trees are nice and all, we can't stop staring at her rockin' body. The 45-year-old looked stunning when she was spotted soaking up the sun with her daughter, Willow, on Wednesday. The Gotham actress went for a run in the sand in a white bikini and cowgirl hat before hitting the waves on a surfboard. Later that day, she changed into a neon orange bikini and matching cover-up pants, which instantly made us think of the amazing vibe in her husband Will Smith's 1997 music video for "Miami." This family vacation also isn't the only time Jada nearly killed us with her toned physique. In December 2015, she enjoyed another getaway to Hawaii with Will and their two kids.

Khloé Kardashian Swallows a Bloody Fish Eye Instead of Saying If She Thinks O.J. Simpson Did It
Khloé Kardashian followed in little sister Kendall Jenner's footsteps on Wednesday night when she agreed to play a round of "Spill Your Guts or Fill Your Guts" with James Corden. The hilarious Revenge Body star accepted the disgusting challenge with a good sense of humor, happily taking a swipe at Rob Kardashian and his fiancée, Blac Chyna, rather than downing a cup of cod sperm. When it came time for James to spill or fill, he also sidestepped the gross concoction in front of him by admitting that of all the celebrities he's met, Pierce Brosnan is the rudest. Khloé's second turn was when things really got interesting, though, thanks to the late-night host asking if she thinks "O.J. Simpson did it." Her response? Swallowing a bloody fish eye. Maybe American Crime Story: James Corden Forcing Celebrities to Eat Fish Eyes can be the plot of Ryan Murphy's next season?

The Obama Girls Have Grown Up Before Our Eyes
Barack and Michelle Obama's little girls, Malia and Sasha, aren't so little anymore! As the nation's most public mom, Michelle has always tried to connect with other Americans raising their kids. Malia was just 10 when Barack was elected, and Sasha was 7. "My life is no different from any other working mother. Mine is just more public," First Lady Michelle Obama told us back in 2012, adding, "Some of us have more resources than others, but the pain, the challenges, the fears of motherhood, the frustrations of being a woman, the hopes and dreams that you have for your daughters, and all our daughters are the same." Let's take a look at the Obama girls' family photo album, and then check out more celebrity kids who grew up before our eyes.

Michelle Obama Jokes About Sasha Missing the Farewell Address: "You Know the Obamas, Girl, Take Your Test"
Following President Barack Obama's moving farewell address on Tuesday night, Michelle Obama stopped by The Tonight Show for her last appearance on the late-night show as first lady. She wrote some emotional thank-you notes with host Jimmy Fallon, who politely refrained from ruffling her hair, and then got real about how unexpectedly hard their final days in the White House have been. "I feel like crying right now," she said. "It has been surprisingly emotional for all of us in ways we didn't expect." Just like her husband, she ended their chat on a positive note, saying that she can't wait to see what the young people of America accomplish in the days to come, saying, "I don't want them to be afraid; I want them to embrace the future."
Jimmy also asked how she and Malia possibly kept it together during Barack's speech. "[Malia] looked over at me and was like, 'I can't believe it, I'm going to cry through the whole speech,'" she said, before joking about Sasha missing the event due to an exam at school. "You know the Obamas, girl, take your test. You can say goodbye later." It pretty much goes without saying, but we'll say it anyway: don't leave us, Michelle.

OK, Whoa: Selena Gomez and The Weeknd Were Caught Kissing in LA
In a move nobody saw coming, Selena Gomez and The Weeknd (real name Abel Tesfaye) were spotted sharing a kiss outside of Giorgio Baldi restaurant in LA on Tuesday night. The possible new couple were all smiles as they left their dinner date, and (dare we say it) Selena couldn't keep her hands to herself; she wrapped her arms around the "Starboy" singer and nuzzled his neck in between smooches. Selena hasn't been seriously linked to anyone in a while - though she was at the center of some unsavory rumors involving Orlando Bloom last year - and The Weeknd famously ended his relationship with model Bella Hadid in November. The two reunited on the runway at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show weeks after their breakup, and their run-in elicited some all-too-relatable reactions.
While this could just be a totally normal, more-than-friendly meal between two people working on a song together (ahem, Drake and Jennifer Lopez), it's also possible that Selena and The Weeknd are actually dating. The pairing, of course, could lead to some awkward drama between Selena and Bella due to their friend group; Selena is famously BFFs with Taylor Swift, who is also famously BFFs with Gigi Hadid, who is famously related to Bella by blood. Wait, here's another connection we just thought of: both The Weeknd and Gigi's boyfriend, Zayn Malik, have done songs for Fifty Shades of Grey films (and Zayn's features Taylor Swift). Oh, and one of Bella's close friends, model Hailey Baldwin, has had an on-again, off-again romance with Justin Bieber for a while now - and we all know Selena's history there.
How to Tell If You're Having a Boy or a Girl
Sure, you can wait until your 20-week ultrasound for the sonogram technician to give you a near-definitive answer, or, if you are extremely patient, you can just sit tight until that baby enters the world and reveals himself or herself once and for all. But if you're one of those moms-to-be who can't handle the suspense, you're in luck.
Well, not really.
There are plenty of ways to scientifically determine the sex of your baby - like genetic blood tests and amniocentesis - but if you'd rather opt for a less-invasive (and far less reliable) method, here are a handful of ways people have been using to predict whether it's a boy or girl for decades, sometimes centuries.
- Fetal Heart Rate
The next time your doctor listens to your baby's heartbeat, ask for specifics. Allegedly, if the fetal heart rate is more than 140 beats per minute, it's a girl; less than 140 beats per minute, a boy. - Morning Sickness
Somewhere along the way, people began to assume that if you suffered through bouts of nausea in your first trimester, you were more likely to have a girl than if you had an easy, vomit-free pregnancy. - Your Grocery List
If you're craving ice cream, you're having a girl. Pickles? A boy. Because girls are stereotypically "sugar and spice and everything nice," legend has it that eating sweets means you're having one, but opting for savory, salty dishes is a sign you've got a boy baking. - Your Bump
You can apparently tell a lot by the way you carry your baby bump. If you're carrying high and on the sides, it's allegedly bound to be a girl. If you're carrying low or if it looks to be a perfectly round, ball-like bump, it's most certainly a boy. - The Key Test
Although it's hard to accurately test this on yourself once you know the outcomes, the idea is that you set a key in front of you, and if you pick it up by its top - the wide, rounded part - you're going to have a girl. If you naturally pick it up by the narrow end, it's a boy. - The Pee Test
Your days of inspecting your urine aren't over yet! Some say the color of your pee can be an indicator of your baby's sex, with bright yellow urine for a boy and dull yellow urine for a girl. - Acne Alert
It's by far the cruelest trick, especially if someone calls you out on it, but if you're breaking out in zits or aren't really exhibiting that gorgeous pregnancy glow, you might be able to blame it on an eventual daughter. According to legend, girls steal their mother's beauty. - Ring on a String
If you're married, pop off your wedding ring and tie it to a string. Hang it over your belly, and see what happens. If it swings in a circle, you're having a boy, but if it sways back and forth, it's a girl. - Conception Equation
Loosely based off an ancient Chinese gender cart, which was created more than 700 years ago before being buried in a tomb, it's as simple as basic math. If your age at the time of conception plus the number of the month in which you conceived is even, it's a boy. If it's odd, it's a girl. - How You Wake Up
Sleep is a tricky subject for any pregnant woman, but one myth attests that if you always seem to wake up on your left side, it's a girl, and if you find yourself sleeping on your right side more often, it's a boy. - Palm Reading
No, you don't have to go find a fortune teller - all you need to do is look down at your hands. Are they dry and cracked? Some say that means a boy is on the way. If your palms are soft and supple, you might be having a girl. - Your Cup Size
No two breasts are created equal, certainly not with all the hormonal changes that come with pregnancy. To that end, a generations-old method for determining the sex of the baby is by boob size! If your left breast feels larger, it's a boy. If the right is heftier, you've got a girl.
