The Heartwarming Reason 1 Boy Hoped His Single Mom Would Show Up to Dad's Day
Whitney Kittrell has been a single mom for over three years now, but she still remembers the promise she made to herself in the beginning: she would do anything she could - even if it meant going out of her comfort zone - to give her kuds a "normal" life with similar experiences to other children.
Over the years, she and her kiddo have accomplished a lot on their own. However, the trips and memories of teaching him how to play catch didn't help ease the pain when her kindergartner came home with a note from school about there being a "Donuts with Dad" morning at school. "My heart kind of sank," she shared on Facebook.
After getting her emotions in check, she sat the child down and asked if he wanted to take his grandpa that day, but his answer left her beyond surprised. "He just smiled and said 'No. I want you to go. You're my mom and dad,'" the proud mom explained. "So this morning I gathered up my best dad outfit, painted on some facial hair, and went to breakfast with my sweet son."
Whitney admits to feeling embarrassed about her costume when she first showed up to the school, but to her child, this dedicated mom looked perfect. "I couldn't help but smile when he introduced me to his little friends saying 'This is my mom . . . she's my dad too so I brought her!'" she wrote. "I've tried my best to let them know they are loved but I wonder a lot if I'm actually succeeding at it."
However, her child's reaction when she went to leave showed that she has absolutely nothing to worry about. "He ran after me and hugged me tight around my neck and whispered 'Mom . . . I know that you'll always be there and do anything for me. Thank you. I love you,'" Whitney wrote. "He kissed my cheek and ran off. I hope he remembers this day because I'll never forget it or his sweet words."

The Insane Connection Between Split and M. Night Shyamalan's Unbreakable
Warning: Spoilers below!
Split is M. Night Shyamalan's latest horror-thriller, and if you've seen the movie, you undoubtedly have some questions about the ending. I'm not talking about how the actual story concludes - I'm talking about the last minute or so, when we get an unexpected cameo. We see Shyamalan earlier in the film, but this appearance is even better.
The movie has all but concluded when we see patrons of a diner fixated on a news broadcast. Casey (Anya Taylor-Joy) has been found and the reporter is talking about the case, saying that outlets have already started calling the killer by a nickname: The Hoard, due to his many personalities. A woman at the counter says, "That guy who got locked up 15 years ago, they gave him a funny name too." The camera pans down the counter to a man dressed in a jumpsuit with a tag marked "DUNN." He simply says: "Mr. Glass." It's Bruce Willis!
Willis, of course, was the star of Shyamalan's 2001 movie Unbreakable. He played David Dunn, a man who essentially cannot be injured. He starts to investigate the limits of his capabilities after walking away from a horrific train crash completely unscathed. With the help of Elijah (Samuel L. Jackson), he discovers that not only is he invincible (except when it comes to water, his only weakness), he can sense crimes that other people have perpetrated just by being near them. Eventually he discovers that Elijah is the one who caused the train wreck, and he has committed several acts of terrorism in the name of finding someone with David's powers. David turns Elijah in, and the press deems him "Mr. Glass," because he has a condition named osteogenesis imperfecta, which renders his bones incredibly fragile.
The connection is surprising, but maybe it shouldn't be. Shyamalan has talked about wanting to do a sequel, telling Entertainment Weekly: "People have approached me about continuing the story, but the idea of doing a traditional sequel doesn't inspire me. It has to be organic and has to come from the right place - otherwise it'll smell of artificiality. But it's fascinating how much it's stuck around. I do think about it a lot."
Does this mean Split is the sequel to Unbreakable? Is James McAvoy's "Beast" a pseudo-realistic villain in the same vein as Mr. Glass? And does this mean it's up to David Dunn to find him and stop him? Would that be the third movie in a trilogy?

The Cast
Emily Blunt will take on the coveted role of Mary Poppins, and Lin-Manuel Miranda will play a lamplighter named Jack. The film also stars Colin Firth, Meryl Streep, Ben Whishaw, Emily Mortimer, and Julie Walters. Dick Van Dyke (who played Bert in the original movie) will also make a special appearance as Mr. Dawes Jr., the chairman of Fidelity Fiduciary Bank. Pixie Davies, Nathanael Saleh, and Joel Dawson will play the three new Banks children.
What It's About
The film is set in London during the 1930s depression era (the time period of the original novels) and follows a grown-up Michael (Whishaw) and Jane (Mortimer) living with his three children and their housekeeper, Ellen (Walters), on Cherry Tree Lane. After the family faces a terrible loss, Mary Poppins (Blunt) returns to bring joy and life back into their lives alongside Jack (Miranda) and her whimsical cousin Topsy (Streep).
The Director
Rob Marshall will direct and produce Mary Poppins Returns. This certainly isn't his first time working with Disney, either. He actually directed the movie adaptation of Into the Woods, which also starred Blunt.
The Production Team
Chicago's John DeLuca and La La Land's Marc Platt will also produce with a screenplay written by David Magee based on the Mary Poppins stories by P.L. Travers. Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, who both worked on Hairspray, will write new songs for the movie.
When Filming Starts
Production for the film has commenced at Shepperton Studios in England.
The Release Date
The movie comes out on Dec. 25, 2018.

Hysterical Student Responses to a Superintendent's Snow Day Tweet Are Going Viral
Last month the Cherokee County School District in Georgia went viral for its Twitter responses to students disappointed over there not being a snow day - now the opposite exchange has happened after a snow day announcement for the Bethlehem Area School District in Pennsylvania. Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Joseph Roy, tweeted on Thursday night, "BASD schools and offices will be closed tomorrow, Feb 9, 2017" - within minutes, students were worshiping him.
Roy's daughter, Jessica, a news editor at New York Magazine's The Cut, tweeted shortly after her dad to say, "It's time for my favorite thing about snow days: teens replying to my dad about school being canceled," and her tweet only escalated the hysterical situation.

This Sweet Dad Sent Flowers to His Dog and Won Hearts All Over the Internet
When Lily Cardone's mother received the flowers, she assumed they were for her from her husband. But after reading the note attached, she quickly realized that was not the case. "Sebastian, Feel better you'll be back in the game very soon. Love Daddy," wrote the sweet dad. Her father sent over flowers to help cheer up the family's 10-year-old dog, Sebastian, who recently underwent ACL surgery, reports BuzzFeed.

Lena Dunham isn't exactly known for being a shrinking violet, but apparently Maria Shriver still wasn't prepared for the actress's ballsy sense of humor. The Girls creator stopped by the Today show on Friday morning to discuss the end of the popular HBO series with Maria, and their interview was quickly derailed all because Lena said the word "penis." At the end of their chat, Maria thanked Lena for stopping by and told her she enjoyed watching a few advance episodes of season six. "You saw a penis, right?" Lena joked, which seemed to completely fluster the former first lady of California. "Yeah. Well, I saw more than that! You caught me there for a second. I am not sure if you are allowed to say that on television - but you did!" she said.
Lena, clearly amused by the awkward moment, threw her hands up in mock defeat and said, "I won't be coming back!" That's when Maria really got confused, pleading with Matt Lauer, who was standing just off camera, to help her, saying, "She threw me off!" Lena apologized for their interaction, which Maria accepted before attributing her confusion to a generational gap. "That's OK," she said. "That's the difference between generations: I wasn't brought up talking like that." What 1 Girl With Disabilities Needs Betsy DeVos to Learn ASAP
Growing up with cerebral palsy, Allison Cardwell more than understands what going to school with a disability is like. However, considering Betsy DeVos' stance on government funding, Allison felt the need to explain to the new education secretary something that she just doesn't seem to understand.
"You say that accommodations for children with disabilities would be unduly burdensome on schools. Your goal is to cut government spending," Allison wrote on Facebook. "You say that schools should have a choice. The thing is, for me, and so many others like me, an education is the only choice."
Allison explained that the use of both her arms and legs is limited due to her medical condition but she learned from an early age that it didn't have to stop her. "There are virtually no jobs I could work without a formal education. If I tried to flip a burger, it'd end up on the floor," she wrote. "Growing up, I always knew that to make up for my physical limitations, I'd have to rely on my mind."
For Allison's parents, finding a progressive and accessible learning environment was their number-one priority, but their grateful daughter realizes that for some children, a public education is their only option. "Providing children with a fair chance to learn is the first step in ending a cycle of dependence on public assistance. My education is the only reason I no longer rely on government benefits," Allison wrote. "Without jobs that pay well and provide healthcare, what choice will these children have but to fall back on the very government that failed them in the first place?"
Thanks to the education that Allison received, she understands that children are America's future and that there is a simple solution to Betsy's financial focus. "If you want to cut government spending in the long run, give countless disabled children a fighting chance to succeed," Allison wrote. "As a billionaire, I would have thought you'd have a better understanding of investments."

For his debut Calvin Klein show, Raf Simons invited guests (including Millie Bobby Brown, Sarah Jessica Parker, Naomie Harris, and A$AP Rocky) to an installation made by his favorite artist, Ruby Sterling. The decor - fringe banners and furniture hanging from the ceiling - was Ruby's take on America. The clothes were just a part of the story. Raf sent both men and women down the runway, but most of his looks, including the crisply tailored suits and sporty trousers with stripes, were wearable for either sex.

Hilarious Mom High on Morphine Forgets She Gave Birth to Her Baby
For most moms, the pain and struggles of labor stay with them for the rest of their lives - so much so that they have no problem letting their children know what they put them through - but for Tisha Heffron, remembering the birth of her second child may not be in the cards. In a hilarious video shot after the birth of her son, Clay, Tisha is seen in a dark hospital room with her husband, James - and she has no idea what the hell is going on.
"I've been sleeping all this time," she says incredulously, clearly a little loopy from morphine. "No, you haven't at all - you gave birth," James responds. Shocked as ever, Tisha replies, "TO WHO?!"
The hilarious back-and-forth continues as Tisha asks James if he can see her in the dark (with her eyes closed), if he's her mom, if she has bugs all over her because her face is itchy, if she pushed out her baby through her belly button, and if her vagina is still where she knew it to be (don't worry, it was).
James told Caters News Agency that he was keeping her busy so she wouldn't stand up but was trying not to laugh the whole time. We're not sure how he managed it - this encounter had us in tears.

Milo Ventimiglia has had a dedicated fan base for years now thanks to his memorable roles on Gilmore Girls and Heroes, but a whole new wave of people has fallen in love with him thanks to his hit new show, This Is Us. While his character, Jack, is basically perfect, his facial hair has also become a beloved thing among viewers. The actor's beard and mustache have transformed through different decades on the show, and he also has been rocking the hell out of it in real life, too. But things took a (razor) sharp turn this week when it was revealed that he - wait for it - shaved it all off. The show's director and producer, Ken Olin, posted a video from the set on Twitter on Thursday that shows a baby-faced Milo slightly nodding and smirking while looking away from the camera. While we loved every facial hair on Milo's head before, he still looks just as hot without it.

On Wednesday, the two attended Tommy Hilfiger's Spring 2017 runway show in LA, since the designer happens to be a close friend of Christian's. Ryan Seacrest asked the "Million Reasons" singer about the potential new love connection on his radio show the next day, but she kept coy. "I don't know! You know I don't talk about my love life, Ryan!" she said while blushing. "I'm really red. I'm really red, and it doesn't go with my outfit." Maybe Christian will be her next music video squeeze?

Betty White's Reason For Never Remarrying After Her Husband's Death Is Truly Beautiful
Betty White has fit a whole lot of life into her 95 years, and she's still going strong. The star is a Hollywood icon, with roles in The Golden Girls and The Mary Tyler Moore Show among her most popular. But of all her successes, the actress credits her marriage to Allen Ludden as her favorite. Betty, who was previously married to US Army pilot Dick Barker in 1945 and Hollywood agent Lane Allen from 1947 until 1949, met her third husband when she appeared as a guest on his game show, Password, in 1961. Ludden actually proposed to Betty twice before she finally accepted and the two were married in 1963.
Ludden tragically passed away from stomach cancer in 1981 (Betty was 59 years old at the time), and she has never remarried. When asked if she would ever consider tying the knot again during an interview with Larry King, Betty said, "Once you've had the best, who needs the rest?" During another interview with Piers Morgan, the star said that her first two unions were just a warm-up for the real thing. "I had 18 wonderful years with Allen Ludden," she said. "The first two were . . . rehearsals." We can all only hope to have a love like Betty and Allen's.
