Here are 12 that most moms-to-be probably didn't even know existed before becoming pregnant themselves.
Britney Spears Steps Out With Her Hot New Boyfriend at a Pre-Grammys Gala
Britney Spears may have hit the red carpet solo at Clive Davis's annual pre-Grammys bash in LA on Saturday night, but inside, she wasn't alone. After posing for photos in a crystal-embellished dress, Britney shared a photo of herself with her new boyfriend, Sam Asghari, to Instagram, saying she had "an amazing night." The singer has been dating her hot new beau since November, after meeting on the set of her "Slumber Party" music video.
It's been a week of ups and downs for Britney, whose family suffered a tragic event when her niece, Maddie, was involved in an ATV accident and spent time in the hospital. Britney spoke out about the incident via social media by posting a sweet photo of the 8-year-old and asking for "all the wishes and prayers." Thankfully, Maddie regained consciousness and was able to go home, and both Jamie Lynn and Britney thanked her fans for their support.
How 1 Waiter Stepped In to Soothe a Crying Baby - and Her Sleep-Deprived Mom
When a family was seated at his table, this waiter had no idea what they had just been through.
The young waiter had no knowledge that they had just left the hospital, where baby Ellee had spent time enduring tests. He didn't know that her mom, Dallas French, had barely slept over the past month. All he could see was a hungry baby whose mom accidentally spilled the bottle she was trying to make to soothe her daughter's tears - and that was enough.
Instead of showing frustration at the commotion, this kind server at Olive Garden immediately took action. Ignoring the messy spill that took place just as he served their food, the waiter sat to feed Dallas's little girl so that the exasperated mom could have a chance to eat her own food. Although she didn't catch his name, Dallas shared a powerful photo of the man, along with the touching story, on Facebook.
"He fed her, I ate my salad and bread sticks, and that milk on the floor got cleaned up after we left because he just understood!" Dallas wrote. "He didn't even know what we had went through that day and showed us love an understanding - not irritated that I had made a mess and my baby was screaming . . . "
This man could sense exactly what her family needed and was kind enough to assist in any and every way he could.

Nutritionists Reveal What to Eat at Lunchtime to Lose Weight
Lunchtime! You know scarfing down a burger and fries isn't the best choice if you're trying to slim down, but how do you know what is? We've enlisted the expertise of two nutritionists - Stephanie Clarke, RD, and Willow Jarosh, RD, of C&J Nutrition - to share the perfect equation for how to make a delicious and satisfying lunch that will help you lose weight. Follow their advice below to start seeing results.
Calories
If you're trying to lose weight, aim for the 400-to-450 range. If you're trying to maintain your weight, especially if you work out, aim closer to 500 calories.
Carbs
Yes, you need to eat carbs! Go for 50 to 65 grams, which is 45 to 55 percent of your lunch calories. Carbs offer your brain and your body energy, so skimping can leave you feeling sluggish. Overdoing it can also have the same affect, so stick to this range. Avoid refined carbs, like foods made with white flour and white sugar, and go for whole grains, whole grain breads and pastas, and starchy veggies and fruits.
Protein
Go for the gold and get 20 to 30 grams of protein, which is about 17 to 25 percent of your lunch calories. A healthy dose of midday protein will help prevent the dreaded afternoon slump and will keep you feeling satisfied post-lunch so you're less likely to reach for sugary pick-me-ups.
Fats
Including healthy fats in your lunch makes your meal more satisfying, so strive for 13 to 18 grams, which is 30 to 35 percent of your total lunch calories. Including healthful sources like nuts, seeds, oils, avocado, and olives can help beat sugar cravings later.
Fiber
Shoot for at least eight grams of fiber, which is 30 percent of the daily recommended total of 25 grams per day. Including fiber-rich carbohydrates (whole grains, starchy veggies, and fruit) and fiber-containing fats (nuts and seeds) will help you reach your fiber goals.
Sugars
Healthy lunches should have four grams of sugar or fewer, but if you enjoy foods that contain natural sugars (like grapes or dried cranberries in your salad, sweet potato or squash in soups, whole pieces of fruit, or natural sweeteners like maple syrup or honey in sauces or dressings), then aim for fewer than 20 grams of sugar. Be mindful of the hidden sugars in certain products like sandwich bread; read labels, and choose those without added sugars.
Timing
Enjoy your lunch about one to three hours after your morning snack. If you eat breakfast around 7:30 and your morning snack around 10, aim to eat lunch around 12. Or if you like to exercise at noon, enjoy your lunch when you get back around 1. If you tend to forget to eat because you're so busy, set an alarm on your phone or computer to remind you to stop and nosh!

Snack Mistakes to Avoid
- Waiting until you're famished: Busy schedules can make hitting that midday meal tough, but avoid heading to lunch when you're starving. Not only will you inhale your lunch quickly and reach for more food because your body hasn't had time to register that it's full, but also, it can also throw off your natural hunger and fullness cues for the rest of the afternoon, which can lead to eating more later in the day.
- Eating out: Do you know how many calories are in that soup and salad you ordered from the cafe? It seems like a healthy lunch, but hidden high-calorie ingredients could make your lunch well over 600 calories. Pack lunch from home so you know exactly how much you're eating.
- Not taking a break: When you mindlessly gobble down your lunch while doing something else like working or watching TV, your mind will be too distracted to be able to fully register each bite, so you'll tend to take in or crave more calories. Get away from your desk, get outside, or eat lunch with a friend.

And while Jennifer Aniston will always be remembered for Rachel's haircut, we happen to think her stylish ensembles were just as memorable. Rachel did score jobs at Bloomingdale's and Ralph Lauren, after all.

Kids Always Beg For a Pet Dog, but No Dad Has Ever Responded Quite Like This
For generations, kids have begged their parents for a pet dog. It's essentially a childhood rite of passage, right up there with learning to ride a bike and threatening to run away from home. But only a few parents have likely drafted a legally binding "family dog contract" and went on to have each child sign the document before agreeing to add a furry friend to the household.
Herein is one of those parents. Father to Amy, Jessica, Casey, and Samantha, this dad created a 13-point contract and posted it to Imgur - possibly to make it hold up in a court of law? - before it went viral for its head-scratching requirements.
For instance, although the dad gets full veto power over the dog's name and breed (no slobberers, sorry), he refuses to allow anything fancier than "plain old dog food" for feeding purposes and he won't budge on the animal being a part of the family Christmas card in either name or likeness.
One area he did budge on? Although he originally mandated a 10-pound dog, it appears one of his children convinced him to amend the target weight to a more respectable 15 pounds.
It's clear he's raising his kids to be just as good at negotiating as their proud pop!
You'll Want to See What Emma Stone's Wearing Under Her BAFTAs Dress
If there's anything that will make a girl feel like a princess, it's wearing not one Chanel piece, but two. Emma Stone got the honor at the BAFTA Awards where the star showed up in a Haute Couture set from the French fashion house. The A-line midi dress and pants combination recently debuted on the Spring 2017 runway complete with a metallic belt.
But Emma opted for full-on glamour, nixing casual accessories and affixing diamond stones to her ears. Of course she didn't forget the silver Chanel pumps to round out the ensemble - they feature a pearl strap around the left ankle, a clear homage to Coco, which can be appreciated at any ceremony or event all around the world. Scroll to take a look at the embellished outfit from the catwalk to the red carpet.

1 Editor Put the Best of Unicorn Makeup to the Test For a Week
It's been over a year since I last challenged myself to master a buzzy beauty trend. Don't get me wrong, I've seen tons of makeup inspiration since then, but nothing really spoke to my soul until a colorful, almost '90s-inspired fad began to circulate.
Unicorn makeup (well, unicorn everything) has completely swarmed the web. It's hard to say where the trend bubbled up first, whether it was in beauty products and video tutorials or tantalizing desserts. Either way, you can't scroll through Instagram today without seeing some sort of magical creation using every pastel shade on the color spectrum.
I was born in 1993 and being the good '90s baby that I am, I felt it was my civic duty to take this nostalgia-inducing trend into my own hands and test it out IRL. I spent hours researching products and recruited the help of my colleagues and experts here at POPSUGAR to round up some of the most lust-worthy (and sold out, no less) picks for my experiment.
For an entire work week, I woke up every morning and bypassed my usual routine that, for lack of a better word, is extremely boring (concealer, blush, mascara). Instead, I reached for my iridescent glosses and shiny new palettes. The whole thing was thrilling, to say the least.
Ahead, find out how all of the looks came together and see if you'd be brave enough to sport the trend while out in the real world.
The 1 Tip You Need to Use If You Want to Block a Friend Without Them Knowing
With the current political climate, it feels like no matter what you do, everything on Facebook is overwhelming. People are picking fights left and right, and some people's comments are too much to handle. While you should definitely think about taking a break from Facebook if you feel like it's too much, you can also just simply put someone on a restricted list.
Unlike unfollowing someone on Facebook, the restricted list doesn't let your friend see any of your posts, unless you choose to make one public. Check out the three simple steps ahead to put a friend on the list. If this isn't enough, you might want to consider other ways of coping with any Donald Trump-related stress.
When Are the 2017 Oscars? Plus, Everything Else You Need to Know About the Show
The Oscars are the grand finale of award season, and this year, we have more to look forward to than ever. La La Land is up for an astonishing (and recording-tying) 14 awards, Viola Davis has already broken a record, and unless one of them doesn't show up for their nominated categories, ex-couple Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield will be in the same place at the same time. (It's exciting, OK?) If you're looking forward to the big show, take a look at all the need-to-know details below!
The Nominees
The best picture race is incredibly tight, with Arrival, Fences, Hacksaw Ridge, Hell or High Water, Hidden Figures, La La Land, Lion, Manchester by the Sea, and Moonlight all in the running. At least one actor from each of those movies is up for an individual nod, including Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, Casey Affleck, Denzel Washington, and Viola Davis. There are also plenty of first-time nominees like Andrew Garfield, Ruth Negga, Mahershala Ali, and Dev Patel.
The Snubs
Notably missing from the list of nominees are Amy Adams (Arrival) and Tom Hanks (Sully) - both of whom ABC accidentally (and awkwardly) listed on the Oscars' website as nominees. Both Hanks and Adams received nominations from the Critics' Choice Awards, but Adams also earned them from the SAG Awards and the Golden Globes. It's not shocking that they're not included, but it is slightly surprising.
The Host
This year's ceremony will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel. Meanwhile, Michael De Luca and Jennifer Todd are producing the show.
The Presenters
Last year's acting winners, Leonardo DiCaprio, Brie Larson, Mark Rylance, and Alicia Vikander, are all scheduled to be presenters. Halle Berry, Jamie Dornan, Chris Evans, Gael García Bernal, Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, Dakota Johnson, Shirley MacLaine, Kate McKinnon, and Hailee Steinfeld will also present during the show.
When It's On
The Academy Awards will air on Feb. 26 on ABC!
10 Things That Will Happen When Once Upon a Time Returns
Once Upon a Time is still on Winter hiatus, but we're craving more. Even though new episodes won't air until March 5, we already have a few tidbits about the second half of the season. As you patiently wait for the weeks to pass, familiarize yourself with the few details we have so far.
Olivia Munn's Sending a Message With Her Swimsuit, and It's Loud and Clear
Olivia Munn had something to say for her first time playing beer pong. The star geared up for the game with an appropriately labeled one-piece swimsuit that read, "Ride or Die." We're assuming that meant she was ready to win with a partner by her side, though it could also be a total coincidence that the swimsuit happened to match the scene.
The graphic swimsuit is one we've seen on plenty of celebs, such as Hailey Baldwin and Kourtney Kardashian. It looks like last Summer's It piece will stick around for this year too. Though we hope Olivia won the game, in terms of her swim style, there is no match. She's the clear victor.

Kate Middleton Went For the Anti-Princess Dress at the BAFTAs
While so many of Kate Middleton's past red carpet dresses have been made of chiffon, embellished with gemstones, and princess-like, the duchess is testing the waters. Kate walked the BAFTAs red carpet alongside Prince William, turning heads in an off-the-shoulder Alexander McQueen design. Its floral embroidery isn't playful, but muted in tone. And though the drop-waist silhouette is elegant with a billowing skirt, Kate's sophisticated gown would appeal to any dark romantic. Of course her brilliant jewels - chandelier earrings, a chunky diamond bracelet, and her engagement ring - were the regal touch, and all the more reason why she stood out against Hollywood's elite. Scroll for an all-angles view.
This Is the No. 1 Reason You're Not Losing Weight
Working out, eating right, and still not seeing the results you're after? Nothing can be more frustrating. But CrossFit competitor Christmas Abbott, author of The Badass Body Diet ($28), knows what could be the issue.
"The biggest mistake people make when trying to lose weight is they restrict themselves too much," says Christmas. And this means not only the food choices people are making but also the amount they're eating. Christmas adds that when you deprive the body of food, it will go into starvation mode and store what food it does get as fat. But if the foods you are eating are all foods that you hate, Christmas warns that you "won't stick with the program, and the bigger picture of a lifestyle change is lost."
Your best bet is to try and find a happy medium between eating enough calories to keep you satiated, but enough to also create a calorie deficit to result in a pound or two lost a week. You can't live on kale alone, so be sure to include foods you love, and if they're not the healthiest, either find healthier ways to enjoy them - check out these lightened-up versions of your favorite comfort foods - or allow yourself just a small taste each day, say of chocolate, to satisfy your cravings. This way of eating will be much easier to maintain for a period of time, so you'll be more apt to stick with it and reach your goal.

How Aldi May Be Ripping Off 365 by Whole Foods
According to one observer from Business Insider, Aldi's revamped in-store design looks very similar to the in-store design of its smaller competitor, 365 by Whole Foods. Starting with its switch from cardboard boxes to eye-level shelving, the writer also noted how Aldi's food market now features softer lighting, digital displays, a refrigerated section for produce, and wider aisles for customers to shop in. There's also the new location of fresh produce at the center of the store, which makes it all similar to the design of 365 by Whole Foods.
Aldi currently has 1,500 stores located in the US vs. just three stores of 365 by Whole Foods, the new, more affordable chain of Whole Foods stores. Although it is unlikely that the emerging market would admit that it intentionally copied the in-store design of 365 by Whole Foods, that hasn't stopped people on the internet from talking about it. Check out these photos of 365 by Whole Foods' in-store design, and then let us know if you think the two designs are strikingly similar or just a coincidence.
You've Never Seen Anyone Make Yorkshire Pudding More Adorably Than Gigi Hadid
In an enchanting and surreal video for British Vogue, Gigi Hadid teaches Gigi Hadid how to make Yorkshire pudding. Yes, you read that right. While sporting a chef's coat and apron, the supermodel dictates the recipe to a more dressed-down version of herself, resulting in one adorable cooking class.
For starters, Gigi recommended preheating the pan by leaving it in the oven as it makes its way up to 410°F. Then, she outlines how her method deviates from others. "Most people mix all the ingredients together at once, but the correct way to do it is to mix the milk and egg mixtures first." Shortly thereafter, mix together oil, a pinch of salt, and flour. Add oil to a muffin pan and pour the mixture directly into the center of the oil so that the pudding rises evenly at the top.
In addition to her recipe, Gigi shared some of her culinary fears - namely "failure" - and a strange eating habit from her past. "I used to eat salt out of the palm of my hand as a kid," she said through laughter. As for her favorite restaurant, Gigi sweetly said it was her boyfriend's mom's house.
Watch the sweet video, above, and then check out Gigi's take on tomato soup.

18 Stars You Probably Don't Know Won Grammys
When thinking of the Grammy Awards, it's pretty easy to be a bit single-minded. Considering that it's historically been billed as a night that honors the best of the best of the music industry, many tend to forget that the nominations list often has categories for spoken word, audio books, music videos, and even soundtrack compilations. For this reason, plenty of nonmusical celebrities have managed to strike gold over the years. We're covering some of the most surprising winners here.

This Photo of a Dying Star Will Make You Feel Utterly Small
If you're in the mood to feel particularly small and remember how big the universe is, look no further than a recent photo from NASA's Hubble telescope. The telescope recently captured an image of a dying star, and it's so damn cool.
Known as a Calabash Nebula, this star's death is an example of what happens to "low-mass stars" (like our sun) when they die. This particular phenomenon is also known as a "Rotten Egg Nebula," because it contains so much sulfur that it would smell like a rotten egg if we were near it.
This photo is not only incredible but also something that is barely ever photographed because it happens so fast. But it's not NASA's first time capturing something like this, as the Hubble telescope previously photographed the death of another star, 20,000 light years away.
Thank you, NASA, for reminding us just how small we really are in the grand scheme of the entire universe.

Exes Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield Share a Sweet Hug Ahead of the BAFTAs
Be still our hearts, Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield have reunited again. On Saturday night, the former couple shared a sweet embrace when they attended the pre-2017 BAFTAs Nespresso Nominees' Party in London. While the La La Land star's face is hidden in the picture, the Hacksaw Ridge actor just couldn't hide his big smile as he leaned in for a hug. Of course, this isn't the first time the two have made us swoon this award season. They also had a cute interaction when they attended the annual AFI Awards luncheon. Seeing that they're up for best actor and best actress, we really hope we'll get another reunion at the Oscars.
You'll Love This Greek Bride's Wedding Gown, but Her Sheer Jumpsuit Will Blow You Away
When Greek jeweler Marianna Goulandris got married, she wore a Valentino wedding gown with long floral appliquéd sleeves. Her floor-sweeping train, chiffon veil, and snow-white fur cape were just glamorous additions to the modest look. But flash back to Marianna's prewedding party at Annabelle's in London, and she was in an ornate jumpsuit decorated in crystals, sequins, and beads.
The piece was just as impressive as her designer dress, along with the cold-shoulder sheath she changed into at the reception. If you're thinking that Marianna and her new groom, Filippos Lemos, tied the knot in style, you wouldn't be mistaken. The couple chose to celebrate with their guests (including Greek Princess Maria-Olympia) at Syon House, which is owned by the Duke of Northumberland.

Miley Cyrus Will Win You Over With Her Wedding Dress
I don't know when or if Miley Cyrus is getting married. Maybe she doesn't even know. But in my imaginary world, she walks down the aisle in a pretty spectacular wedding dress. You see, ever since I was young, I looked at Miley as someone who represented versatility. She played two different characters on Hannah Montana, and my younger sister plastered posters of Miley all over her walls, some in which she was dressed up like Hannah, others in which she was just herself, in jeans and a three-quarter-sleeved tee. But even when she was just being Miley, the actress and singer looked unique and a little bit quirky.
She's gone through many stages, but there has never been a time when Miley's paid attention to trends. During her rise to fame, she wore flares and cowboy boots, maybe because they were representative of where she came from: Franklin, TN. Post-breakup with Liam Hemsworth (the two have recently rekindled their relationship), Miley kind of went HAM with her wardrobe. And I liked it. What she wore, or didn't wear, was all a part of her personal revolution.
Miley's style at this point could basically be described as costume like. She dressed as a twerking teddy bear and supported LGBT rights in rainbows and big, furry coats. Then, at the 2015 Met Gala, the industry's elite gathered on the red carpet, but Miley stood alone in a cutout Alexander Wang gown. It ended up on some "worst dressed" lists, but I think it was my favorite outfit of the night. It didn't seem like Miley was trying to appear sexy or edgy but just to look like herself.
So now, as outsiders speculate whether Miley and Liam are engaged, I can't help but to imagine her would-be bridal look. I doubt Miley Cyrus's wedding dress will be all white. It might be neon, a mix of colors, or come with an inflatable skirt. Miley might not wear a wedding dress at all, should she get married. Maybe she'll go naked. She recently revealed on the Today show that she prefers to stay out of the fashion conversation: "I don't want people to talk about what I'm wearing. That's usually why I don't wear too much," she said.
One thing's for sure: if Miley Cyrus gets married, her look won't include a ballgown so glamorous, everyone focuses on the pretty (or crazy!) details. They won't be talking about The Dress, because god knows it won't be wearing her. It'll be all about Miley. Read on to see why we know Miley will hit it out of the park on her special day.

I Gained Weight Because of These 3 Lunch Mistakes
Straight out of college and having lived off a diet of cereal, pasta, and bagels, I was having major stomach issues, so I thought gluten was the culprit. When I gave it up, I wanted to replace it with something that felt just as comforting as a bowl of noodles, so I turned to rice.
For lunch, I would cook up one cup of rice and add one can of beans. That was lunch for two days. TWO DAYS. Holy carb overload. You would have thought I was training for a marathon. I did this for about a year and ended up getting pretty chunky, when I was actually trying to lose weight! I wish someone had told me not to make these three mistakes.
Portion Control!
While rice and beans is full of fiber and protein, I was probably eating twice the amount I should have been. I should have read and followed the serving sizes suggested on the packages and divided that lunch into four containers instead of two.
No Veggies
Beans do count as veggies, but since they're high in calories and carbs, they definitely should not have been the only veggie in my bowl. I should have cooked those beans up with red peppers, carrots, mushrooms, broccoli, corn, and kale. Or maybe had a big salad and plopped a few spoonfuls of rice and beans on top to make it more filling. Or maybe I should have discovered veggie-packed alternatives and made this cauliflower rice and beans! Veggies are low in calories, high in fiber, and high in water content, so they would have satisfied my appetite without causing weight gain.
No Fat
For someone reason, I was convinced that eating fat would make me fat. But on the contrary, healthy fats can make you feel fuller longer, so they can help with weight loss. I should have added a few slices of avocado on top or added some dressing and sliced almonds to a side salad.
The Models at Alexander Wang’s NYFW Show Looked Like "Nocturnal Party Girls"
For the past several seasons, Alexander Wang has kept his models' hair and makeup pretty minimal, and his New York Fashion Week Fall 2017 collection was no exception. For this runway, he channeled the "nocturnal party girl," but unlike the go-to 3 a.m. chick that wears thick layers of smudgy eyeliner or smeared statement lips, Wang relied on confident, understated minimalism.
Each model's overall look was slightly different, and hair and makeup artists played into their features and personality. Alex "wanted the girls to have their own individual feel," says Diane Kendel, lead makeup artist for the show. Some models wore NARS Minorque Kohliner ($26, NARS Cosmetics) – a midnight black eyeliner – "very close to the lashes on the top and bottom waterline, then slightly smudged out with a clean brush." Others only had mascara on their eyes. For everyone, brows were kept natural, and Rosebud Salve was dabbed onto the lips.
To embrace natural skin texture, models forewent foundation and instead prepped skin with NARSkin Luminous Moisture Cream ($64) and NARSkin Total Replenishing Eye Cream ($58).
As for hair, some models sported shaggy curls with fringe falling into their eyes, some wore it swept up, some had tousled, quasi-structured bobs, and some had that effortless "slept in, partied in" thing going (which requires more manufacturing than you'd expect) via Redken's Wax Blast ($19).
"This show is all about personality," says Guido Palau, global creative director for Redken. "Alex casts these different girls for all their individualities and all their different kinds of beauty. We've got sexy girls and tough girls and girls celebrating all their natural texture."
We argue that you don't have to wait for the clock to strike midnight to wear this nocturnal after party look. It's confident, it's sexy, and it says, "I'm not afraid to express myself" - and that's something you can wear any time of the day.

Were Christian Siriano’s Orange Glitter Tears a Nod to Our Current Political State?
You know what happens when goth girls cry? They leave a trail of glitter down their cheeks. Or at least that was the case for the models at Christian Siriano's Fall New York Fashion Week 2017 show. The makeup inspiration was "goth girls walking in Fire Valley."
For the glitter eye look, artists used a rich burgundy color from MAC's Fall 2017 Forecast Palette (not yet available) and then topped it with a generous coating of their Reflects Copper Glitter ($22, maccosmetics), which dripped from the models' eyes at the outer corners. Artists smoked out the look and added layers of mascara. To keep the emphasis on the eyes, brows were kept natural and lips were topped with a nude.
Backstage, Polly Osmond – lead makeup artist for MAC Cosmetics – explained that those glitter tears in "really deep red and orange tones" were inspired by the twisting, colorful rocks in Nevada's famous desert valley. And while that was clearly where the earthy tones for this look were pulled from, we speculate those glitter tears pouring down every model's cheeks were also a very deliberate nod to our current political state.
That assumption was further corroborated once we saw that Christian sent a model down the runway sporting a black t-shirts with "People Are People" emblazoned across the front in white block letters. Nobody can deny that was a direct statement against the increased racism and sexism our nation has seen over the last months. And also, we can't ignore the fact that those tears were orange.
While the pairing of glitter tears and the statement shirt evoked a sense of sadness, it was also a really empowering, hand-to-the-face moment. Moral of the story: you can cry and you can be fierce while taking a stand for what you believe in.
The Main Frustrations Plus-Size Models Still Have With the Fashion Industry
My first though upon seeing The Candice, a sleek club top with a cold shoulder on just one side, was, "Hot damn, I want that shirt." Then I reached out and touched it - it wasn't made from a flimsy, fast-wrinkling silk like so many of my going-out tees. It's actually a satin-back crepe material that's still got stretch. It felt comfortable and looked well made, and I could imagine it styled with so many different pieces in my wardrobe.
That is Universal Standard's goal: to make quality pieces for women sizes 10 through 28 who have felt limited and unacknowledged in fashion. The Candice was designed by Candice Huffine, which is a name that probably rings a bell since she's a supermodel with plenty of campaigns and a Pirelli calendar under her belt. Universal Standard asked Candice, Katy Syme (who's been working with the brand since its start), and Georgia Pratt to think up a staple they'd been missing. It turns out they're not the only ones in need of a chic top, a versatile shirtdress, and a forgiving yet flattering tunic.
When I sat down with Candice and Katy, they told me they barely had to think before they arrived at their dream creations. There's no doubt they're going to satisfy so many women across the US with their picks - preppy, professional, girlie, sporty, streamlined, you name it. But striving toward a more inclusive industry doesn't end with three new essentials, no matter how many outfits may come of them.
Read on to hear what standards Candice and Katy are still frustrated by, what personal achievements they're proud of, and what projects excite them most. Candice summarized a curvy girl's place in fashion perfectly: "It's really frustrating when curvy girls are just 'asked to the party.'" Can't we all agree that at this point, with the fact that the average woman's size is 16, they shouldn't need an invitation?
Ahead, see Candice, Katy, and Georgia star in the Universal Standard campaign, shop their personal looks, and then share how you wear them on Instagram with #Tria4Us.
6 Things That We'll See in Stranger Things Season 2
After months of wondering, we finally have our first shreds of evidence about the second season of Stranger Things. It all started at the beginning of February, when Netflix dropped an exciting teaser and premiere date during the Super Bowl. Oh, but that's not all. Shortly thereafter, Entertainment Weekly cracked the season wide open with exclusive new plot details. We've pulled the most interesting revelations below.
1. Will Byers Will Face Emotional Trauma After His Ordeal
As you might remember, Will Byers's creepy finale behavior suggests he may have lost a piece of himself in the Upside Down. Cocreator Matt Duffer explained, "He seems to be seeing images from the Upside Down. The question is whether they're real or not. So it seems like he's having some sort of post-traumatic stress disorder."
2. Joyce Byers Will Have a New Romantic Interest
As a way of coping with all the trauma she experiences in season one, Joyce tries to anchor herself with the help of a former high school classmate. "She's trying to mask a lot," Winona Ryder explained. "I think she's made this choice with Bob because she wants a good father figure in her sons' lives."
3. Both of the New Characters Play Pivotal Roles
The cast of the second season has two major newcomers: Sadie Sink and Dacre Montgomery, who play brother and sister Max and Billy. While Max will hang around with the rest of the gang, Billy is more of a threat. Matt Duffer explained how the master of horror influenced this choice: "Stephen King always has really great human villains. The evil in the real world is often as bad or worse than the supernatural evil, so we wanted to introduce a character like that."
4. Dustin Will Find a Strange New Pet
"It's a little creature I get to bond with," Gaten Matarazzo teased. "It's obviously not from this planet or this dimension."
5. Nancy and Mike Will Have a Lot of Grief to Process
"[Nancy] and Mike are both the most screwed-up because they're the ones who both lost someone," cocreator Ross Duffer explained. "They're both grappling with that, and we see the effects."
6. Hopper Will Mostly Focus on Covering Up What Happened
David Harbour dished a little on what the town's police chief will be up to: "It kind of falls on Hopper to be the voice of authority to say, 'This did happen and this didn't happen.' He's struggling with the compromise that takes him to, having to lie and cover things up."
Pink and Carey Hart Have One of the Best Celebrity Proposal Stories, Hands Down
Image Source: Getty / Jeffrey Mayer
Pink and Carey Hart's relationship hasn't always been easy (even though their bumps in the road have inspired some pretty dope songs), but the way they went from "dating" to "engaged" is a story for the books - and a nice reminder that sometimes, women should just take things into their own hands.
In 2005, four years after they began dating, Pink pulled the ultimate badass move. While assisting on the track during Carey's race at the Pro 250 class finals in Mammoth, CA, the singer stepped out in front as Carey entered his third lap holding up a pit board that read, "Will You Marry Me?" When Carey failed to pull over, she added "Serious!" to it. As you can imagine, Carey finally hopped off of his bike and said "yes." The couple got married six months later in Costa Rica and have been making sweet (and sometimes salty) music together ever since.
Victoria Beckham Brings Back the Elbow-Length Glove For Fall
Once she steps into her leather wedge boots and slips on her elbow-length gloves, the Victoria Beckham girl is going places. She's prepared to weather any storm thanks to crisply tailored outwear, and silk scarves and groovy prints peek out from under her outfit. She's sensible when it comes to layering and you can bet she's got cool separates on underneath.
With the introduction of VB's new vanity trunks that the models hugged tightly at their sides (plus the studded brogues and luxe boots and gloves) we can confirm the Fall 2017 accessories to be must-haves. Not because they're flashy - offered in shades of oxblood, navy, and black - but because they're necessary. Scroll to see how Victoria Beckham gave her signature uniform a feminine little touch, aiming for tasteful pieces that are "not body conscious, but conscious of the body."
You Guys, Leslie Jones Really, Really Wants to Play Donald Trump on SNL
Step aside Alec Baldwin, there's a new Donald Trump impersonator in town: Leslie Jones. After watching Melissa McCarthy take on Sean Spicer last week, the actress revealed her "yuge" dream of playing the president during a hilarious skit on Saturday Night Live. Not only does she do in-depth research by watching all of his speeches and mimicking his hand signals, but she takes it one step further by donning his infamous blonde hair. But can she impress the show's producer Lorne Michaels? See how it all goes down above.
