What You Should Know About the Disturbing Allegations of Sexual Harassment Against Casey Affleck

Casey Affleck is currently riding high on the Oscar nomination and Golden Globe win for his latest film, Manchester by the Sea, but his skyrocketing career isn't the only part of the 41-year-old's life that's been pulled into the spotlight. Amid all of the rave reviews for his dark, emotional performance, serious allegations of sexual harassment made against him by two women in 2010 have come back to haunt him.
In October 2016, Variety ran a cover story on Affleck, and squeezed in between stories about his childhood and glowing praise for his acting abilities was a brief blip about the lawsuits, which were brought against him by the female producer and the cinematographer of his 2010 mockumentary I'm Still Here. "People say whatever they want," he told Variety when asked about the charges, which were later settled out of court. "Sometimes it doesn't matter how you respond . . . I guess people think if you're well-known, it's perfectly fine to say anything you want. I don't know why that is. But it shouldn't be, because everybody has families and lives." Despite his family-centric brushoff of the claims, what allegedly happened between him and the women working on the set of his film deserves far more than a blip.
Affleck and other male crew members allegedly almost immediately made comments about having sex with her and suggested she have sex with the film's camera assistant. The harassment occurred multiple times on the set of the ill-received mockumentary Affleck made with his then-brother-in-law Joaquin Phoenix, according to the film's producer Amanda White and its cinematographer Magdalena Gorka. In December 2008, White signed on to be a producer of the doc after having worked with Affleck a few times in the past. In her formal complaint (which you can read in full here), she claimed that the younger Affleck brother repeatedly called women "cows" on set, obnoxiously discussed his sexual encounters, and at one point ordered a crew member to flash his penis at her despite her objections. She also made note of an incident where Affleck asked "Isn't it about time you get pregnant?" after hearing how old she was and made comments about how she should have sex with one of the male crew members so she could have a baby.
On top of White's accusations about his lewd behavior, she claimed that Affleck physically threatened her more than once. She said that after rebuffing his request to share a hotel room with him one night, he grabbed her in "a hostile manner" to try to manipulate her into submitting to his demands. She alleged that when she still said no, he called her a variety of "profane names" via text message. White further alleged that while shooting the documentary in Costa Rica one night, she wasn't able to return to her bedroom because Affleck and Phoenix - the brother of Affleck's wife, Summer, whom he split from after 10 years of marriage in March 2016 - had locked the door so they could have sex with two women they'd invited inside. On July 23, 2010, White filed a $2 million lawsuit against the actor in Los Angeles Superior Court.
While still working as a producer, White was instructed to renegotiate a contract with Magdalena Gorka, the film's director of photography, who'd left production early on because of her own alleged negative experiences with Affleck. Gorka described her time working with him in her formal complaint (which you can read in full here) as "the most traumatizing of her career" due to "routine instances of sexual harassment." When she first started working, Affleck and other male crew members allegedly almost immediately made comments about having sex with her and suggested she have sex with the film's camera assistant (Affleck's close friend). Gorka hoped that things would get better as production wore on, but she alleged that Affleck's behavior only escalated.

In mid-December 2008, she traveled to NYC with other crew members to shoot scenes involving Phoenix. Instead of putting the crew up in a hotel, Affleck and Phoenix decided to have them stay overnight in their apartment. Gorka claimed that Phoenix told her she could take his bedroom while he slept in the living room, only for her to wake up in the middle of the night and discover Affleck was lying in bed with her. In her complaint, she described him as "curled up next to her in the bed wearing only his underwear and a T-shirt. He had his arm around her, was caressing her back, his face was within inches of hers and his breath reeked of alcohol." Feeling "shocked and repulsed" since she wasn't sure of how long he'd been there or if he'd touched her while she slept, she said she told him to get out. He allegedly asked her why he had to leave, to which she replied, "Because you are married and you are my boss." She said he "left and slammed the door in anger." The next morning, Gorka flew back to LA, told her agent what allegedly happened, and quit I'm Still Here.
After going a few weeks without work, White convinced Gorka to continue working on the film, which she agreed to in hopes that the presence of both women on set would deter further harassment. Unfortunately, Gorka alleges that she was once again subjected to "a nearly daily barrage of sexual comments, innuendo, and unwelcome advances by crew members, within the presence and with the active encouragement of Affleck." She resigned once again, which she said resulted in Affleck refusing to give her the "director of photography" credit on the film as retaliation. One week after White filed her lawsuit in 2010, Gorka filed a $2.25 million suit of her own against Affleck in LA Superior Court, citing the "humiliation, embarrassment, and emotional distress as a direct result of the harassment and abuse she endured during production." White also claimed she was denied the payment of her producer's fee ($50,000) after complaining about Affleck's behavior and that she had yet to be paid at all for the three months she worked on the film at the time she filed her official complaint. Affleck initially denied the allegations and briefly threatened to countersue but eventually settled both suits out of court through mediation.
The Golden Globe Awards aired in January, kicking off a long line of award season appearances from the actor thanks to the multiple award shows and ceremonies scheduled through February. Unlike Nate Parker and Bill Cosby before him (both of whose alleged crimes are different and legally more serious, it's important to note), Affleck has been raking in accolade after accolade rather than career-ending blows to his reputation. So far he's won a BAFTA, a Golden Globe, a Gotham award, and more for his work in Manchester by the Sea. Much like a former reality star who was elected into the highest office our country has to offer after bragging about his preferred methods of sexual assault and a high-profile actor who's scored plenty of roles after being involved in a domestic violence dispute, it doesn't look like Affleck is going to be tried in the court of public opinion for his alleged actions. In fact, it's quite the opposite. It's pretty clear that Hollywood is not only standing by him, but celebrating him.

While his character hasn't made the best decisions in the past, he explained that Kevin is finally learning to listen to people's advice, be more confident in himself, and take ownership for his mistakes. Not only is this something he wishes he could tell his younger self, but it's a lesson he is currently teaching his 14-year-old daughter, Isabella. "Everybody messes up," he said. "Good people do bad things sometimes and instead of defending it, try to recognize it, see what it is, apologize for it, and move on from there and try not to do it again."

This Fitness Marshall's Dance to Bebe Rexha Is So Fun, It's Electric
The new Bebe Rexha song is INSANELY fun, so of course we're dancing our butts off to it with The Fitness Marshall. This song's theme is "casting a love potion on someone to make them fall in love with us," so Caleb's choreography will naturally have some hilariously themed moves (read: gathering and snatching ingredients, including cream cheese . . . and the heart of a llama).
Our favorite line? "We're missing one ingredient, and that's hair flips." Trust us, you won't be able to stop moving to this song, or listening to it, or laughing at the hilarious coaching.

Yes, Justin Hartley Knows Exactly How Jack Dies on This Is Us
This Is Us has quickly become one of the hottest new shows on TV, and it's stellar cast is just one of the many reasons why. With so much emotional depth and sad twists packed in each episode, the show makes us cry like no other, but we always seem to come back for more. While this week's episode certainly hit us right in feels, the most talk has to be surrounding how the Pearson's patriarch Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) died. Even though we can't help but theorize every little detail, the cast already knows the answer, and spoiler: it's crushingly painful. We recently had a chance to talk with the show's star Justin Hartley in NYC, and aside from being just as charming as his character Kevin, he filled us in some of our burning questions about the rest of this season.
POPSUGAR: I know there is a lot of speculation surrounding Jack's death. Do you or any of the other cast members know how Jack dies?
Justin Hartley: I do, I do. I think we all do. We have this thing at work where Dan Fogelman, our creator, has this policy where he'll tell you what ever you want to know. There are certain artists or actors that don't like to know certain things, but I like to know everything. I do know, but I'm not going to tell you, because you don't want to know, but you won't be disappointed. It is crushingly painful.
PS: What's the most interesting theory you've heard so far?
JH: Gosh, I've heard everything. My mom told me one - see, I don't want to tell you what they've told me, because then by process of elimination, you'll be able to narrow it down - but I've heard people think that there was a crime, people think it had to do with alcohol, people think certain people are to blame. I've heard one person say he hid and dies missing. That's not the case, but I've heard all kinds of strange theories.
PS: I always see Milo Ventimiglia referring to you and Sterling K. Brown as son on social media.
JH: Yeah, he really thinks that we're his kids.
PS: How seriously do Mandy Moore and Milo take their parental roles off screen?
JH: Not too seriously, I think maybe Milo a little more seriously - I actually think I'm older than both of them - it's all done in fun, but Milo definitely does a deep dive into his character, as does Mandy. But they also get to work with the little kids though, right? So they see them and they read the script, and then they see us and they watch the show, so it's probably hard not to. I don't call him dad much, but I'm gonna start doing that.
PS: Miguel recently told Kevin that he is a lot like his dad Jack, but who do you think is most like Rebecca out the Big Three?
JH: Randall, I guess. I think they were the closest, especially in recent years. And I'm sure that story will be told maybe in season two and throughout season three. But you know, This Is Us is one of those shows where just when you think something is happening, they turn it around and you're like, "Aha! It wasn't. It was right there in front of me the whole time and I just didn't see it." So, who knows? Maybe it's me.
PS: Speaking of Miguel, he had kids before he married Rebecca. Do Kevin's stepbrothers and/or sisters ever come into the picture?
JH: They probably should, right? There's definitely a story to be told there. I'm sure they will. Maybe there was a riff or something? I don't know much about it - or anything about it actually - about why they haven't been on the show yet, but maybe there's something there.
PS: I feel like the breakthrough with Randall and Kevin was one the saddest scenes on the show yet. On a scale of one-ten, ten being the saddest, how would you rate the finale?
JH: Ten. Tied at ten. There are a few moments on the show where I would put them all at ten.
PS: Would you say it's more than ten?
JH: Can you go more than ten? I don't know. I would say it's tied as one of the most emotional. It's different. That's one of the things I love about our show is that they all tie together, but they're all so different. They all have their own sort of legs and they're individual pillars if you will.
ALERT: Beyoncé Will NOT Be Headlining Coachella This Year
You may want to sit down for this, especially if you bought tickets to Coachella this year. Beyoncé Knowles has dropped out of the festival. The official announcement was made on Coachella's verified Facebook page on Thursday. "Following the advice of her doctors to keep a less rigorous schedule in the coming months," the post said, "Beyoncé has made the decision to forgo performing at the 2017 Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival." As a silver lining, Goldenvoice and Parkwood confirmed that Knowles would instead headline the 2018 festival. The official Coachella lineup was released just last month, and came just a few weeks before the singer announced her second pregnancy. The question now becomes, who in the hell could replace Queen Bey?!
The Trailer For Shane West's Zombie Movie Is Here to Give You Nightmares
One day Hollywood will tire of the zombie genre, but today is not that day. An extended trailer for director Rod Blackhurst's sci-fi horror flick, Here Alone, is here, and if you can watch the whole thing without getting stressed out, we applaud you. The indie film follows a woman named Ann (Lucy Walters) as she tries to survive alone in the wilds of upstate New York after escaping an outbreak of a mysterious virus that turns the infected into 28 Days Later-esque zombies (read: fast as hell). The trailer shows flashes of her initial escape with her husband (Shane West) and baby daughter, but since this is a horror movie, it looks like things didn't end well for them. Watch both trailers here, and catch the movie when it hits theaters on March 31.

Does Dan Stevens Sing in Disney's Live-Action Beauty and the Beast?
Disney's live-action Beauty and the Beast is nearly a month away, and we can barely contain our excitement. While the posters, stills, and soundtrack have appropriately pumped us up, we're just excited to see one of our favorite childhood movies come to life on the big screen. The adaptation is straying a little bit from the animated version, but it is staying true to a few things, including the musical aspect. We've already gotten our first listen to Emma Watson's singing voice in the trailer, but what about the Beast? Since Prince Adam doesn't have any songs in the original movie, we can't help but wonder, will Dan Stevens sing in the upcoming adaptation?
Well, the short answer is yes. During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the English actor revealed that Alan Menken, who penned the original score, wrote a brand-new song specifically for the Beast. Stevens's wife, Susie Hariet, even helped with his audition since she's a jazz musician and singing teacher. "We're a pretty musical household and it was lovely to have that," he said. "We've never really sung together all that much. It was a really beautiful thing to do."

We're Pretty Sure Kanye West Isn't Launching a Beauty Line - Here's Why
If recent reports are to believed, Kylie and her beauty brand are about to have some friendly competition with Kanye West. TMZ revealed that Kanye has filed documents that declare an intention to produce makeup and other products under his mother's name, Donda.
We did some digging for ourselves on the United States Patent and Trademark Office website. Kanye's law firm, Pryor Cashman, has applied for a dizzying total of 16 trademarks, but only 11 of these applications are currently valid. And yes, cosmetics, skin care, hair care, and other personal care products are among the goods and services being trademarked. However, so were social networking platforms, food stamps, legal counseling, charitable organizations, fashion accessories, and interior-design-related goods.
In our opinion, we don't think that Kanye necessarily plans on making any of the aforementioned products under the Donda brand (though one never knows, because Kanye definitely likes to keep busy!). It's more likely that he's reserving the opportunity to - and preventing others who would want to "steal" the name for their own use from coming up with their own Donda brand. Remember, Blue Ivy recently trademarked her name and we doubt she'll be launching a beauty line anytime soon.
That said, it is worth noting that during a recent appearance in New York City, Kanye was seen wearing a gold nameplate necklace that spelled out "Donda" in delicate script (see above!). Perhaps he was sending a hidden message? Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.

Over the course of the past 13 seasons of Grey's Anatomy, one ride-or-die pair has certainly stood out above the rest: Alex Karev and Meredith Grey. The two have been friends since the very beginning, and once Cristina moves away, Alex steps in as Meredith's "person." As their bond grows closer with each passing episode, it's hard not to ask: will Alex and Meredith's relationship take a romantic turn? It's become such a prevalent issue that the two stars in question, Justin Chambers and Ellen Pompeo, have commented on it. Even executive producer Shonda Rhimes has weighed in.
For Pompeo, it seems like the whole situation is likely a no-go. In a recent chat with E! News, she said, "Justin is one of my favorite people on the planet. We're really close, and it does feel weird. To potentially maybe have him as a love interest would be like kissing my brother." In fact, Pompeo revealed that she's perfectly fine with Meredith's life as a single woman. "The love interest part is not my favorite piece of this, I'll be honest. Kissing guys that aren't your husband is, you know, a little weird. I guess it wouldn't be if you didn't like your husband, but I happen to be very, very fond of mine."
With Chambers, it's a bit more complicated. Back in September, the actor told Entertainment Weekly he'd be open to the romance. "It did surprise me, because I never saw that happening. I know we did an episode where it was like 'What if?' so we got to see a little bit of it, but yeah, it's surprising. It's interesting. Hey, this is Shondaland, you know? Anything's possible!" More recently, though, he seems to have changed his tune. In the same E! News story, he reportedly decided he's against it. "I think anything is possible, but personally I find it to be weird. I think that they're very much like siblings. They've been through so much together. Personally, I don't see it. But, hey, this is Grey's Anatomy. Anything is possible."
Suffice it to say, Rhimes would have final word on the situation. And, well, she's not ruling it out. "I've learned to never say never at this point," she told EW. "I always thought the show would end at season two, three, four or five. So every time I would say, 'This is definitely going to be what's happening,' then we keep going and the story grows. Then everyone gets mad because I said something was definitely going to happen. So I'm never going to say never at this point."
Keep on shipping, friends. You never know what's going to happen.
The 5 Things I Do Every Morning to Stay Healthy
In those first years out of college, I struggled with the transition into "real adulthood." Adulting is hard! But as I started to make health and self-care more of a priority, I realized that I was lacking a solid morning routine. Fast-forward to today, and the routine I've established has helped set the tone for a healthy day, every day. Aside from the universal tip of "eat breakfast," here are the top five things that have helped me rise and shine; try these for a morning of wellness!
Oil Pull
Before you start saying "oil pulling is so 2014," hear me out. I grind my teeth at night, and I know I'm not alone in this. In addition to the possible oral health benefits, oil pulling exercises a stiff jaw to alleviate pain, forces you to get up 20 minutes earlier, and acts as a chemical-free mouthwash.
Stretch
While I oil pull, I stretch. I take this time to relax, meditate a bit, and warm up my body for the day. If I have time or get up early enough, I go to yoga or do a few Sun Salutations in my room. I know I'll be in a desk chair all day, so I try to carve out some time to always get a good stretch session in.
Drink Lemon Water
A room-temperature glass of lemon water has tons of health benefits: alongside improved hydration, you'll get a vitamin C boost for glowing skin, a metabolism boost, and a mood boost.

Care For Your Skin
I don't have an extreme 11-step Korean skin care routine, but I do have a pretty solid lineup for my skin. I cleanse my skin with Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel and my Clarisonic, then tone, apply serum, and moisturize. Twice a week, I use a peel, and three times a week, I use a retexturizing scrub. And you know what? I never knew my skin could be this good! The byproduct of this is that I now look forward to waking up (don't judge me) to go through my skin care routine.
Take Vitamins
I take B12 for energy, omega-3 for mood and muscle health, and vitamin E for hair, skin, and nails. If I'm drinking my vitamins in a shake, I use Vega One powder mixed with some coconut milk. At the risk of sounding like your mom, take your vitamins!
Stylish Nursing and Teething Necklaces For Breastfeeding Mamas
For a mom who is breastfeeding a teething bundle of joy, she can find relief for herself and baby while also accessorizing her outfit! Whether you use them for nursing, teething, or both, these necklaces help babies while giving their mamas a stylish edge.
These accessories give babies something to focus on while nursing, which many moms find helps their little one to nurse better and longer. The bright colors and shapes are handy outlets for their eyes and, more importantly, gums, and Mom doesn't having to search around for a teething toy before each nursing session. Check out these great options ahead!

If Anyone Could Start a New Hat Trend, It's Cindy Crawford's Daughter
The first thing you might notice upon seeing Cindy Crawford shopping with Kaia Gerber, is, well, Kaia's furry pink coat. The Pam and Gela design is hard to miss. But zoom in closer and you'll recognize the mother-daughter duo's stunning similarities, like that perfectly flowing brown hair. Though it appears it was a hat day for Kaia, who opted to try out the newsboy cap right in the middle of Fashion Week. There's no better time, really, to experiment with a new trend.
It's one that supermodel Bella Hadid's a fan of - she included the same style in her Chrome Hearts collection. But Kaia makes the hat all her own, accenting the Brixton piece with '90s essentials like leather leggings and combat boots. Scroll for a closer look, and see how Bella wears her own newsboy cap too. By then you should be plenty ready to shop for your own and try it on for size.
How to Wear Flamingo-Pink Makeup and Look Like 1 Hot Bird
Pink-eye makeup already happened - it's still going viral on Instagram and red carpets, everywhere. Now flamingos are having a moment in beauty, too. Combine the two trends and you have flamingo-pink makeup and hair looks.
"Flamingo-pink makeup has been used for years editorially, but now we're definitely seeing it become a regular beauty trend," said celebrity makeup artist Neil Scibelli. "The flamingo-pink color works great as an eye shadow. It instantly warms up the eyes when used either all over the lid or just in the crease. For a more sultry, diffused look, you can also blend the color along the lower lash line (and outwards)."
Some stars are even rocking it on both eyes and lips for a monochromatic look. Lea Michele (pictured) did this for the 2017 Grammys, while Lily Collins took on a color-block style at the 2017 Golden Globes.
However you choose to interpret it - a swipe of hot-pink eye shadow or even some streaks of temporary electric-pink hair paint - it's one festive fad to try for Spring and Summer 2017! Keep reading to see some of our favorite products inspired by flamingos.

Prepare to Sing Along Embarrassingly Loud to the Anastasia Musical's "Journey to the Past"
The first song from the Broadway adaptation of Anastasia is here, and it's glorious. Christy Altomare, who plays the title character in the stage adaptation of Fox's 1997 animated classic, will have you cycling through all types of emotions as her voice soars. Nostalgia? Check. Hope? Check. A little bit of anger that the Broadway version isn't including the Bartok the Bat character? Triple check. The new musical's previews begin on March 23 at the Broadhurst Theatre, and opens officially on April 24. Listen above!
15 Great Romantic Comedies to Stream on Netflix
It's no secret that the last few years have been a bleak time for romantic comedies, though 2016 brought some new hopefuls to the genre. I don't know what happened to girls just standing in front of boys asking them to love them or why Tom Hanks isn't shutting down Meg Ryan's shop anymore; I just know that this genre isn't as good as it used to be. To help matters, I've picked out a handful of great romantic comedies that you can stream on Netflix - movies that are either old favorites, gems you may have never seen, or semirecent movies you missed for whatever reason. Get ready to fall in love again!
Experts Reveal 5 Items to Avoid When Choosing Winter Skin Care
If you're going through a rough skin patch this Winter, you're not alone. After all, with cold weather typically comes a lack of moisture and, as a result, dry and even scaly skin. That said, there are things you could be doing to make the situation worse. Before you pick up another bar of soap, read on. We asked dermatologists to share which ingredients to steer clear of when choosing skin- and body-care products during cold-weather months.
10 Ingredients to Look For in Your Winter Skin Care, According to the Experts
Blizzard Beauty: 9 Products to Transform a Snow Day Into a Spa Day
1. Petrolatum
While it may seem counterintuitive, Daniel Foitl, M.D. recommends putting down the petrolatum-based products in Winter. "The comedogenic properties of petrolatum truly seal off our skin from air, water, or anything else that wants to enter or leave," he explains. "They don't allow ambient moisture to enter our skin. In addition, they can trap oil and dirt leading to blackheads, pimples, and whiteheads."
2. Soap
Traditional soaps - those made with lye and fat - are extremely harsh on the skin. That's because of their high pH, which clashes with skin's lower pH. "True soaps tend to disrupt the acidic pH that the skin needs to function best at (it likes to live at a pH of 5.5 for optimal barrier function, whereas soaps can have a basic pH of 9 in some cases). They also strip the skin of crucial lipids," says Sherry Ingraham, M.D. "I recommend avoiding soap-based cleansers whenever possible, especially during the dry, Winter months," she adds. Instead, Dr. Ingraham suggests looking for cleansers that are pH neutral to slightly acidic and synthetic: "Look for syndets (synthetic detergent cleansers) from brands like Cetaphil, CeraVe, La Roche-Posay, and Aveeno."
3. Astringents
"Overuse of astringents, especially those containing alcohol, strip skin of its natural oils," warns Dr. Foitl. This leaves your complexion raw, meaning it's unprotected and vulnerable to contact dermatitis, dry skin, and even infections. "As an alternative, try a toner (such as Neutrogena Alcohol-Free Toner) to balance the pH in skin and enhance skin barriers," he says.
Bonus Tip: "The hotter the water temperature, the dryer and more damaged our skin becomes. To enjoy a nice, warm soak, keep the water less than 98 degrees Fahrenheit, and add a bath oil or powder that protects the skin," says Dr. Foitl. We like Ren Moroccan Rose Otto Bath Oil ($48), which is loaded with soothing rose oil and vitamin E.
4. Heavy Fragrances
"Dry skin is more sensitive to ingredients, and fragrances can be particularly irritating," says Elizabeth Tanzi, M.D., founder and director of Capital Laser & Skin Care. As an alternative, opt for unscented (or at least minimally scented) products whenever possible.
5. Cortisone
Don't fall into the trap of adding a cortisone cream to your routine, advises Dr. Foitl. "Many rashes or allergies can be cured with cortisone creams if they are used for the short term (less than two weeks), but with long-term use, skin becomes addicted, and it can take many weeks or months of withdrawal to return to normal," he explains. The withdrawal isn't pretty either: you'd see breakouts, redness, and dryness, while experiencing painful burning. Even worse, cortisone causes permanent skin thinning and loss of collagen (meaning your skin will show signs of aging faster!), as well as broken blood vessels and stretch marks. Yikes! "Be judicious, using only mild cortisones on the face and avoiding overuse unless instructed by a dermatologist," he warns.

Ellen DeGeneres Gave Drew Barrymore a Birthday Gift That Is Really a Gift to Us All
Drew Barrymore rang in her 42nd birthday on Wednesday (can you believe it?), and one of her famous friends helped her celebrate in a really cute way. That same day, Ellen DeGeneres shared a video of Drew's most delightful moments on the show, including dance-offs, funny jokes, and that time she revealed her massive crush on John Oliver. She captioned the clip, "Happy birthday, Drew Barrymore. You're a gift to the world. And my show. And me." How we'd love to be friends with both of them!
The Truth About Toby's Fat Suit on This Is Us
On This Is Us, each character has their own relatable struggles. Kevin (Justin Hartley) is still trying to find himself and Randall (Sterling K. Brown) struggles to cope with his anxiety, while much of Kate (Chrissy Metz) and Toby's (Chris Sullivan) story is focused on their battle with losing weight. While Metz has been very open about weight loss and body positivity during interviews, we can't help but notice that Sullivan looks drastically different off screen. Did he shed some major pounds in between filming? Is it all part of his character's upcoming story line? Not exactly.
During an interview with Us Weekly, Sullivan's costar Susan Kelechi Watson, who plays Beth, revealed that he actually wears a fat suit for the role. Naturally, the costume choice has caused mixed emotions, with a lot of people feeling like it doesn't properly represent plus-size actors. While his onscreen love interest Metz totally gets it, she argued that at the end of the day, Sullivan was just the best fit for the role. "People think the authenticity is kind of ruined by [that decision to cast Sullivan], but Chris has been heavier and I think he does understand the plight of being overweight," she said on Watch What Happens Live. "He was the best man for the job. People wear prosthetics all the time. This just happens to be weight, as opposed to a nose or a chin."

The Best Piece of Parenting Advice 1 Stressed-Out Mom Got From Her Dad
After having her first child, Constance Hall was pretty overwhelmed. The Australian blogger was finding it hard dealing with one baby and asked her dad how her grandmother possibly managed to do it with 11 kids. Her father's response was simple yet powerful: she wasn't given half of the pressure that moms today are.
"She didn't have to go to the bank, the supermarket everyday, she wasn't expected to look a million bucks straight after birth, she never put pressure on her kids to have reached all of their milestones by the age of three weeks, and have the house clean," Constance wrote on Facebook. "She just hung out with her kids and enjoyed them."
In contrast, Constance looked at how she and fellow women cope with all of the stress they are put under as moms in 2017. "Well, a lot of us don't actually enjoy our kids and we are only half present for them all of the time due to the constant pressure to have everything perfect," she admitted. "To go to the gym, answer that email, pay that bill, cook that organic kale, blend it, get it into a patty so no one knows it's kale, get to the doctors, the washing, gas in the car, color your god d*mn grays, make the kids lunches because if you order them again you will be JUDGED!"
Constance realized that due to all the chaos she was missing out on something more important: time to be present with her children instead of just half-listening to them while preoccupied with something else. Part of what made Constance realize how important it is to block out the other noise when she's with her kids was participating in a simple experiment with other adults.
"We partnered up and told a story; halfway through the story our partners were ordered to stop listening. They looked away, yawned, preoccupied their minds, replied to an email while we were telling them something we believed interesting.
And guess how it made me feel? Boring, embarrassed for not being able to interest anyone, unworthy, and insignificant.
Is that what this busy life is making my kids feel?"
As difficult as it may be each and every day to not let the other burdens get to her, this mom is now focusing on time with her kids and how her stress could be making them feel. "And I'm not going to let outside pressures and 'Super Mom' ideals take that away from me."
3 "Healthy" Foods a Nutritionist Wants You to Stop Eating ASAP
When you're trying to drop a few pounds or just trying eat healthier, your nutritionist can go from your best friend to your worst nightmare. Nobody wants to hear that pizza isn't healthy, but that's not what this article is about. You already know the obvious culprits! Let's focus on revealing three of the biggest foods you might think are healthy but which most nutritionists would have to politely disagree on.
Sushi
Say it isn't so! How can something like lean fish be bad for you? While there's always been the issue of potentially consuming foods that have parasites and bacteria, that's not the reason sushi is on this list. In fact, according to Keisha Luke, a Toronto-based culinary nutritionist, "Sushi (salmon and other big fish) contain high levels of mercury, not to mention the white sugar that is added into the white rice to make it sweet and sticky."
This isn't to say you shouldn't eat fish, but if you're planning on regular sushi feasts, you should rethink that strategy. Eat fish (preferably grilled or broiled) a couple times a week, but pass on that sticky white rice and the spicy mayo!
Rice Cakes
How could something so low calorie and nearly devoid of flavor be bad for your diet? Sometimes when food lacks any flavor whatsoever, it also lacks any redeeming quality to your health. Luke told us that "rice cakes definitely lack in nutritional value."
But there is a solution. "When you use a protein-packed spread like peanut butter or almond butter, rice cakes become part of a great nutritious snack," she said.
Coffee
OK, don't shoot the messenger. It's true. There's something wrong with your coffee crutch. No. We aren't talking about the fat in the cream, the calories in the sugar and other sweeteners, or even the potentially harmful effects of artificial sweeteners (but these are all reasons your morning fix isn't your diet's friend). In fact, coffee is on this list for a reason you probably never considered: "Coffee, although it gives that adrenaline boost first thing is the morning, is acidic, which leaches vital nutrients from our bodies, weakening the immune system," said Luke.
But don't worry, we're not just going to leave this here without a way to even things up and make coffee a viable option for you. As Luke told us, "A great solution for this is to add a superfood like reishi powder, MCT oil, or raw cocoa powder to your daily diet because superfoods help to boost the immune system by providing antioxidants and other vital minerals such as magnesium into the body." This evens things out and let's you get perked up in the morning and healthier over the course of the day.
