Zoë Kravitz's Oscars Look Was So Damn Gorgeous, We're Actually Breathless

With parents like Lisa Bonet and Lenny Kravitz, it seems like Zoë Kravitz had no choice but to be ridiculously gorgeous; and her appearance at the 2017 Vanity Fair Oscar Party proved that she knows exactly how to play up her best features. Kravitz's red carpet appearances so far this year have been filled with understated-yet-edgy beauty moments, and her Oscars afterparty look was no different.

Kravitz's hairstylist, Nikki Nelms (who also created Janelle Monáe's gorgeous Oscars look), styled the performer's partially shaved, bleached blonde braids into retro waves. Kravitz, a Yves Saint Laurent beauty muse, also rocked a bright orange-red lipstick, dewy highlight, and bold brows. The end result was an absolutely stunning look that sets the performer in a league of her own.

Read on for every angle of Zoë's edgy look, and you'll find yourself wanting to print a picture for your hair stylist. We certainly don't blame you! "Hot damn" doesn't even begin to describe her.

This DIY Tween Spa Party Would Make Even a Grown Woman Jealous

For every girl (or adult) who likes to be pampered, this DIY spa birthday party is straight out of their dreams. For Ally's 11th birthday bash, something surrounding beauty was a must for this tween, but her mom, Jenny Keller of Jenny Cookies, managed to create an afternoon that was so much more than any preteen could imagine.

"I figured these girls are headed to middle school next year so what a great opportunity to teach them some daily skin care and hygiene regimes in a fun setting," Jenny wrote on her blog. "Less princess makeover, more real-life skills that are age-appropriate."

After settling on a color palette of blush, black, white, and green, Jenny incorporated swan accents, fresh flowers, and delicate desserts throughout the party. At the center of the room, Ally's closest friends were able to sit around a table set for facials and skincare lessons before hair tutorials and rich treats from a breathtaking dessert table.

Check out all of the swoon-worthy details ahead.

You'll Never Guess What $4 Product Nina Dobrev Used as Matte Lipstick

When Nina Dobrev stepped foot on the red carpet at the 2017 Vanity Fair Oscars party, we immediately fell in love with her new haircut. The Vampire Diaries actress debuted an even shorter, A-line bob after her drastic chop just six weeks ago, captivating us with total Victoria Beckham vibes. Nina's BFF and hairstylist Riawna Capri got to work cutting Nina's hair even shorter "using texturizing techniques" and styling it with three different-size curling irons to create the perfect natural-looking 'do. But once we zoomed in on her flawless dewy glow, it was Nina's makeup that stole the show.

Nina's classic, Audrey Hepburn-inspired hairdo was taken to new grungy heights with the help of a sultry cat eyeliner and a matte pink lip. Celebrity makeup artist Spencer Barnes teamed up with E.L.F. Cosmetics to give Nina the ultimate shimmering look.

"I kept Nina's skin fresh, flawless, and soft and honed in on dramatic brows and lashes," Spencer said. Using only E.L.F. products, each ranging from $3-$12, Nina's look was both stunning and totally affordable.

The most underrated part of Nina's look, however, was her pout. Spencer used a rose-colored eye shadow to create the kissable and "ultra-matte nude finish." The E.L.F. Beautifully Bare Matte Eye Shadow in Blushing Rose ($4) brought the entire look together in an unexpected and elegant way.

Keep reading to see photos of Nina's gorgeous Oscars look and some of the products used to achieve her red carpet glow.

Lea Michele's Bikini Bottom Is So Sexy, It Makes You Wish You Could See the Front Too

"Wait, what does the front look like?" we wondered as we scrolled past Lea Michele's swimsuit photo. The star had snapped her colorful bikini but only showed the back. Why? Lea likely wanted to highlight her cheeky bikini bottoms (and butterfly tattoo). She even wrote, "Bom Bidi Bom," with the peach emoji underneath her Instagram snap.

Though we can't get a clear glimpse of her swimsuit top, we'll go ahead and take an educated guess: it's just as sexy as her bottoms. The top likely has the same wavy, rainbow print, and if it's anything like Lea's past swimsuit choices, it's a style winner for sure. And one you'll want to immediately shop. Read on for a closer look at Lea's bikini, then scoop up her exact piece or similar versions.

Holy Sh*t: Rey Could Be a Palpatine in the New Star Wars Trilogy

It's been well over a year since Star Wars: The Force Awakens blasted into our galaxy, and we're still processing. While there are some lingering questions about the latest trilogy, one glaring mystery seems to stick out among the rest: who the hell are Rey's parents? While there are plenty of plausible theories, one insane internet claim out there alleges the most unexpected lineage for Rey: she could be related to Emperor Palpatine. Is Rey the granddaughter of the evil Sith Lord? We're unpacking all the most prominent evidence so you can decide for yourself.

Her Fighting Style Is Similar

Rey's first move in her lightsaber duel with Kylo Ren is a forward stab. This also happens to be the exact same first move Emperor Palpatine executes in Revenge of the Sith. It's also worth noting that these are the only two Force-sensitive individuals to use this form of attack. They also share another move: swinging the lightsaber overhead and bringing it down, sledgehammer style. It can't just be coincidence . . . can it?

Rey Seems to Be Pulled Toward the Dark Side

There are a few passing moments in The Force Awakens that indicate a darkness within Rey. It's interesting to see how much she relishes telling Kylo Ren that he'll never be as great as Darth Vader. Later during their lightsaber battle, her bloodlust almost seems uncontrollable, and there's a moment near the end where she almost delivers a final deadly blow . . . until she lets him live. Could she be teetering on the edge of the dark side? Is it possible she has the power of the Sith running through her veins?

OK, Wait, Isn't Luke Rey's Father?

While Luke has been one of the most popular picks among the candidates for Rey's parents, there's a lot of evidence to suggest that it's just not so. First and foremost, it's simply just too obvious. The Force Awakens is filled with nods to a connection between Luke and Rey. There's the fact that Luke's lightsaber "calls out" to her. Then there's all of her Force-sensitivity and Jedi mind tricks, and that loaded scene with Luke himself at the end. It's so obvious! It's so heavy-handed! It would just be way too easy.

It stretches beyond that, of course. If Rey were Luke's daughter, could we really believe Han Solo and Leia Organa knew nothing of her existence? And why would Maz Kanata imply that Rey's parents were dead? If Luke is not the father, it leaves room for someone else.

The Skywalker vs. Palpatine Phenomenon

It's worth noting that this dichotomy appears in every Star Wars trilogy. In the original trilogy, Luke Skywalker faces off against Emperor Palpatine. In the next trilogy, Anakin Skywalker, still teetering on the edge of the dark side, also fights Palpatine before he becomes the deformed Sith Lord we recognize him as. In the new trilogy, Kylo Ren is a Skywalker. His mother is Leia Organa! Wouldn't it make the most sense to have another destined face-off? A Skywalker against Rey, a Palpatine? Furthermore, it would almost add a dash of poetic impact to the new movies. With a Skywalker as a Jedi and a Palpatine as a Sith in the preexisting films, this new entry is flipping everything on its head. Kylo Ren, the Skywalker, is a Sith. And Rey, possibly a Palpatine, is on the good side . . . for now.

There's so much more to unpack: the fact that Supreme Leader Snoke and Kylo Ren are obsessed with getting their hands on Rey, the fact that Rey is skewed toward the dark side on the poster for The Force Awakens, and even Luke's apparent apprehension in that haunting final scene. If you want to dig even deeper, this video does a pretty good job of covering everything:

OK, OK, we'll take off our tinfoil hats . . . for now.

The singer, who's pregnant with her second child, chooses daring outfits - like a blazer top with a plunging neckline - for red carpet events and has a sexy footwear collection to match. Just because this mama's expecting doesn't mean she'll forgo her signature style, and that's what we love about her. However, you'll also likely spot Ciara in a pair of sneakers and cozy PJs, especially when she's hanging out with her son, Future, or in this case, wearing matching maternity outfits with a friend. Fashion Rules Don't Apply to Amal Clooney's Latest Look

When we spotted Amal Clooney leaving Paris with George Clooney, we immediately took note of her florals. Of course, the stylish lawyer and activist couldn't have just thrown all three pieces - her dress, her coat, and her bag - together at once. Amal's layering was strategic, each item carefully considered from her breezy, daisy-covered tunic to her olive-emblazoned coat and leather bag.

It took a few dark accents to make Amal's look seem fluid, a mixing of three different prints in perfect harmony. But after she grounded her outfit with thigh-high boots and sunglasses, Amal appeared a smart street style star. Scroll to see how it's done, then shop for similar pieces that work better together than you'd think. The proof is in the pictures ahead.

Kate Middleton Will Steal You From the Oscars in a Dress That's So Her

While you were head's down in the Oscars - and we don't blame you - you might have missed Kate Middleton's outing happening across the pond. On Monday, the duchess stepped out for a reception in London to mark the launch of the UK-India Year of Culture.

Ever the fashion diplomat, Kate paid homage to both nations, simply with what she wore. She slipped into a shimmering lace dress by British designer Erdem and added earrings by Indian jeweler Anita Dongre, though our eyes were glued especially to her coordinating pumps, a princess-worthy pair finished in all-over sparkle. Like most things Kate wears, the look managed to be both decidedly sophisticated and just a touch glam. In fact, the look will have you thinking, "It's just so Kate." People Are Loving This Story About 2 Strangers Sharing a Bottle of Wine Together on the Subway

The most important rule about living in NYC: prepare yourself to see anything go down on the subway. Sometimes you see the usual showtime break-dancing routine on your commute to work, but then there are days where a perfectly good bottle of wine will roll out from under your seat and the only logical thing to do next is to drink and share it with someone. That's exactly what happened to two strangers on the subway, according to a tweet and photo from Twitter user and journalist Colleen Hagerty.

The tweet, posted on Feb. 25, shows two strangers sharing a bottle of wine. It clearly struck a nerve with the internet, since it has more than 56,000 retweets and 191,000 "likes." You can see it for yourself ahead.

People didn't know whether to believe the story, considering opening a wine bottle requires a corkscrew. Hagerty then clarified in a followup tweet that the "top was popped." She also tweeted that the man in the hat found his empty bottle to drink from under his seat as well.

The internet loved the story and thought it was adorable.

One person came up with a great idea to bring even more New Yorkers together.

Just another reason to love wine and all the joy it brings.

The Cast of Moonlight Strips Down and Shows Skin For a Calvin Klein Underwear Campaign

Hot on the heels of their big night at the Oscars, the male cast members of Moonlight star in Calvin Klein's new men's underwear campaign. On Monday, the stunning shots were released, featuring best supporting actor winner Mahershala Ali and all three of the actors who portrayed main character Chiron in the drama: Alex R. Hibbert, Ashton Sanders, and Trevante Rhodes. While 12-year-old Alex stays covered up in a black t-shirt, 21-year-old Ashton and 27-year-old Trevante strip down for the cameras and show off their fit physiques in classic CK pieces. Mahershala, for his part, was photographed peeling off a t-shirt (and we are not worthy). Check out the photos ahead now.

Newborns in Plaster Molds of Their Moms' Bumps Are SO Snug in Their "First Homes"

Tons of moms opt to go through the process of creating cast molds of their baby bumps right before giving birth, but there isn't much to do with those molds afterward besides hanging them on the baby's nursery wall or turning them into a weird fruit bowl. However, after seeing these newborn photos, we think plaster stocks are going to steadily rise as there's now an adorable way to use those molds.

Amy Knowles, photographer at Slinky Photography Studio, has a whole slew of snaps from various newborn shoots that feature tiny babes snuggled cozily inside their mom's baby-bump mold. If this doesn't make your ovaries ache, we don't know what will.

We really and truly can't get enough macarons, and the more magical the better. Enter the mermaid macaron. We first saw them in this hipster Little Mermaid wedding shoot. They're effortlessly elegant for an under-the-sea-themed party or soiree. The sandwich tops are tilted so a pearl can peek through, and the cookies are dusted in shimmer for that extra hint of whimsy. Look through to get inspired for your next mermaid-themed get-together.

There's a Reason Emily Ratajkowski's Oscars Dress Is Giving You Déjà Vu

By now the "naked dress" is nothing new, and seeing Emily Ratajkowski at Vanity Fair's Oscar party in an embellished and feathered Jonathan Simkhai gown that put her figure front and center wasn't exactly shocking. In fact, it kinda gave us deja vu. While the gown just walked at Simkhai's Fall '17 show at New York Fashion Week, the glitzy feel and sheer illusion made us think of none other than Mrs. Kim Kardashian West. You might feel the same if you recall the nearly-naked dress, covered in sequins and feathers, created by Roberto Cavalli for Kim's Met Gala appearance in 2015.

Read on to see the comparison in full.

Emily Ratajkowski's Mint Eye Is the Sexiest Version of Mermaid Makeup We've Ever Seen

Our gateway into the world of mermaid beauty was, of course, Ariel in The Little Mermaid. But we've evolved well past combing our hair with a fork. Thanks to the advent of sea-siren-inspired makeup products, we've found a way to infuse the mythical creature into nearly every day. And recently, at the Vanity Fair Oscars afterparty, makeup artist Hung Vanngo and Emily Ratajkowski proved that iridescent aquatic glam is just as sexy an option for date night (if not sexier!) as a standard smoky eye.

Using Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Gel Eye Crayon Eyeliner in O(vert) 56 ($25), Vanngo traced along her upper and lower lashline, as well as a bit on her lids, to create the foundation and overall shape of the look. After blending it, he layered smoky green and charcoal shadows from the Marc Jacobs Beauty Style Eye Con No 7 Plush Eye Shadow Palette in The Vamp ($59) on top. However, the real magic took place with the addition of a sheer silver shadow on top of the final look. This shifted what was likely a smoky emerald eye into one with a pale minty luster and mermaid vibes.

If you really wanted to go all out, you could add a bold metallic lip and beachy waves to complete your mermaid metamorphosis, but we're pretty fond of how Emily opted to keep things simple with a dewy, peachy lip and messy ballerina bun. Keep reading to see this perfectly awesome aquatic eye from all angles.

Who Is Actually Responsible For That Huge Oscars Mix-Up? An Investigation

During the final few minutes of the 2017 Academy Awards, there was only one question on everybody's minds: "What the hell just happened?!" After Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway mistakenly announced the wrong winner for best picture, viewers and celebrities alike were abuzz with theories about who was responsible - and they wasted no time in turning the cringeworthy moment into a meme.

Many names have been jokingly thrown into the fray about who to blame for the mistake; was it Leonardo DiCaprio getting back at the Academy for all those years without an Oscar, or Matt Damon sabotaging Jimmy Kimmel's big night? But after some in-depth investigation, we finally have the truth about who is at fault for the legendary Oscars snafu . . . and it's not who you think.

Whose Fault Was It, Really? An Investigation

  • Warren Beatty: Because Beatty opened the envelope containing the wrong film, it was a natural first reaction for people to blame him for the flub. However, a closer look at the actor's hands during the big moment reveals that he was in possession of an envelope labeled "Actress in a Leading Role." Based on a replay of the moment, it appears that Beatty also gives the winning announcement a second, wary glance and a halted announcement before handing it to Faye Dunaway in a cautious fashion. Given his obvious confusion and apparent unwillingness to read the wrong words aloud himself, we dub Warren Beatty free of blame in this situation.
  • Faye Dunaway: As the person who actually read the wrong film's name, Dunaway is next in line when playing the Oscars blame game. Footage reveals that throughout the short period of confusion after Beatty opened the incorrect envelope, the actress appears impatient for the results, then quickly announces the movie name after Beatty hands her the winner card. Many have faulted Dunaway for announcing the name without closely inspecting the card, but there is no way for her to have known whether Beatty was truly confused or simply playing coy with the news of the night's big win. Because the scenario is a high-pressure one and understandably puzzling for an unknowing party, we also clear Faye Dunaway of all charges.
  • Leonardo DiCaprio or Emma Stone: Once it became clear that Beatty was indeed handed the wrong envelope, many blamed Leonardo DiCaprio or Emma Stone, who had each been in possession of the best actress envelope when DiCaprio announced Stone's big win. However, Stone later revealed in the press room that she had been holding her own winner card when the best picture mix-up took place. Because she and DiCaprio had clearly not set down or returned the card he'd used to read her name shortly beforehand, they cannot be to blame for the mistake. We hereby find them innocent.
  • PricewaterhouseCoopers Accounting Firm: After Stone revealed that she held onto her own winning announcement card yet Beatty clearly also held an envelope for her category, a natural question arose: why on earth are there two envelopes for the same award, and who mixed them up? Well, the answer is a contracted accounting firm called PricewaterhouseCoopers, which tallies the Academy votes and distributes the envelopes to presenters off stage. They have two copies of each winning card - one for each stage entrance - and firm partners distribute the cards themselves. This means that a PwC partner mistakenly handed Beatty the wrong card, setting the whole embarrassing mix-up into motion.

So, in Conclusion . . .

The accounting firm is to blame for the best picture award confusion, and has since issued an apology for the error.

While the hiccup was certainly awkward and resulted in mixed emotions for the category winners and losers alike, it seems that all has been forgiven. Barry Jenkins, the director behind Moonlight, publicly applauded La La Land producer Jordan Horowitz for handling the situation with grace. The casts of each film have nothing but good things to say about one another following the mix-up, so it seems that the Oscars drama has (for now) come to an end.

4 Stars Who Weren't Here For Casey Affleck's Best Actor Win

Casey Affleck took home the best actor award at the Oscars on Sunday, but not everyone seemed to be in a celebratory mood over the Manchester by the Sea star's win. Casey has been at the center of disturbing sexual assault allegations that made headlines late last year, and while he's still managed to rack up awards and nominations for his role in the film, the reported incidents haven't exactly helped the actor in the eyes of some of his Hollywood peers.

At 1 Month Postpartum, This Hilarious Style Blogger Has a Lot to Say About Her Body

Charmaine Daudu wears a lot of hats: "style chameleon," beauty blogger, YouTuber, and now, mama. Just over a month ago, Charmaine gave birth to a beautiful baby boy, Zendé, and since then, she's kept it extremely real on social media when it comes to her postpartum body.

"I have to say, I love that lil pouch . . . should I call it my fanny pack?" she wrote in a caption under a photo of herself one month postpartum. "Anyway, it was Zen's home so I'd be lying if I said I wish it would go away faster . . . I'm still emotionally attached."

Charmaine's refreshing approach to her body is something to behold, especially as many moms struggle with their looks and identity after giving birth. Although not every woman may be "attached" to their belly postbirth, it's hard not to be inspired by Charmaine's fresh perspective.

In a post shared just one week after giving birth, Charmaine wrote a few words of encouragement to her fellow moms:

"Giving birth is one hell of a ride, not to mention the months prior to the actual labor . . . so give yourself some credit! I think it's fantastic to feel motivated and inspired by others, but at the end of the day, we can only be ourselves. If you're comparing your after to someone when you didn't even have the same before, you are already setting yourself up for disappointment. Be kind to yourself, the world can be cruel enough as it is . . . and if you just gave birth, you're pretty much a superhero, so extra armor comes with the territory."

It's safe to say we're pretty much obsessed with this amazing mama. Scroll through to see a few more of her photos postbaby - with and without the adorable Zendé - and to read her hilarious and inspiring captions.

You'll Love the Story Behind Emma Waston's Latest Sustainable Gown

Emma Watson took on the green carpet challenge back in 2015, committing to wearing only ethically made clothing. Back then, she and her stylist Sarah Slutsky would break down each element of her outfit, from dainty jewels to pumps, detailing where every item came from on Instagram. But Emma's taking things one step further as she promotes Beauty and the Beast on the film's press tour, which started in Paris.

Emma created a new account called @the_press_tour, where she'll be sharing sketches of her looks, all-angle videos, and lengthy captions that credit the team who crafted her pieces. Many of the designers she's tapping, like Stella McCartney, have been on board with using recycled materials for years. Emma's dresses and jumpsuits are "verified green" by Eco-Age, a company that promotes sustainability through core principles that include matters of pollution, labor work, and fabric resourcing.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley's Baby Bump Made For the Most Glamorous Look at the Oscars

When Rosie Huntington-Whiteley confirmed she and partner Jason Statham are expecting a baby, she did it with style. The supermodel posted a bikini shot taken on the beach by Jason on Instagram. While we can't say we didn't notice her chevron-print triangle bikini, it was hard to miss her growing belly and obvious glow.

Rosie brought that right along with her when she stepped out at the Vanity Fair Oscars bash, flaunting her new figure in a custom Atelier Versace dress that featured a single sleeve and very high slit. With Rosie's clear handle on fashion, we can expect so many more great maternity looks in her future.

Ryan Gosling's Sister Has Been His Date to More Events Than Eva Mendes

Ryan Gosling may not have taken his long-time girlfriend Eva Mendes to the Oscars this year, but he did bring another lady close to his heart: his sister, Mandi. The duo didn't pose together on the red carpet, but they did appear to have a good time inside the show. While everyone was buzzing about his choice of date, this certainly isn't the first time we've seen the blond beauty. Ryan has taken his big sister to multiple events over the years - he's actually been photographed with Mandi more times than he's been photographed with the mother of his two children. Every Lovely Moment Ryan Gosling Shared With His Sister Mandi at the Oscars

Our hearts broke a little bit when we realized that Evan Mendes didn't accompany Ryan Gosling to the Oscars on Sunday night, but our spirits were quickly lifted when he saw that he actually did bring a date: his older sister, Mandi. The two sat front row during the show and shared a handful or adorable moments together. In addition to giving her little brother a cute squeeze, she also couldn't have looked more proud when Ryan's name was mentioned in the best actor category. While he didn't end up taking home the award (he lost to Casey Affleck), Mandi kept Ryan laughing throughout the night. She was also right by his side during his awkward run-in with Justin Timberlake, and cheered him on during that whole best picture mix-up. Cutest siblings ever? Probably.

Probably.

Bill Paxton's 9 Most Memorable Roles

This week, the entertainment industry lost another shining star when we learned that Bill Paxton died at the age of 61. Paxton was a well-known actor who played big and small roles for the last few decades, but no matter the size of the role, his presence was indelibly memorable. From roles in huge movies like Titanic to leading shows like HBO's Big Love, Paxton starred in so many things that you loved and that made him one of those recognizable film faces. And, tragically, he was nowhere near slowing down - he was one of the stars of CBS's new midseason drama Training Day, and he has a 2017 film coming up, The Circle, that has yet to be released. But for now, we're looking back at the past roles we'll never forget.

The 1 Piece That's Going to Sell Out Fast This Season

Among the things that excite fashion girls each season, using their discerning eye to predetermine the next cult-worthy piece is at the top of the list. In an effort to figure out what might fly off the shelves this month, we looked to Los Angeles-based PAIGE's Spring collection for some clues. Having recently codesigned its first-ever collection with model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, we had a feeling that the laid-back assortment would hold the answer. And after exploring the Rosie HW x PAIGE collab, which is rife with Southern California vibes, we put our money down on one item in particular.

Made with a luxurious washed silk, the Flo Bomber is a powder blue, tie-dyed bomber jacket that's destined for Instagram fame. Embroidered with the words "Forever & Ever" in custom script across the back, this Spring-appropriate piece is sure to blow up. To be certain, though, we reached out to PAIGE for some intel on the piece.

"Forever and Ever was the perfect phrase since it held so many meanings to Rosie and I," shares Paige Adams-Geller, cofounder and creative director for PAIGE. "We loved the idea that these pieces would be your forever pieces . . . items that are timeless and live in your wardrobe forever."

Throw it on over relaxed jeans and a white t-shirt and you're the epitome of cool girl or take a cue from the visionary and bring it on your next flight. "This bomber is perfect for traveling on an airplane. It's cozy and soft and feels like a sleeping bag. The perfect weight to throw in your carry-on or suitcase."

See for yourselves.

Why You Won't See Sia Without Her Wig - Even at an Oscars Afterparty

Sia's bold wigs have become almost as famous as the talented singer herself. She's rarely seen without one, and last night's Oscars Vanity Fair afterparty was no exception. The pop star wore a bluntly cut wig under a hat, completely hiding her face.

Many people wonder why Sia chooses to hide her face under such massive headpieces. She's discussed it a few times in interviews, but mostly, it's because Sia wants to live her daily life somewhat anonymously. In 2013, she penned an "Antifame Manifesto" for Billboard explaining why she doesn't enjoy fame.

"If anyone besides famous people knew what it was like to be a famous person, they would never want to be famous. Imagine the stereotypical highly opinionated, completely uninformed mother-in-law character and apply it to every teenager with a computer in the entire world. Then add in all bored people, as well as people whose job it is to report on celebrities. Then, picture that creature, that force, criticizing you for an hour straight once a day, every day, day after day."

The singer hasn't always hidden her face, though. In the beginning of her career, Sia performed without a wig, but the attention and pressure got to her. The artist discussed the negative impact fame had on her during a Carpool Karaoke with James Corden. "I was a singer for 10 or 11 years to mediocre success," she explained. "I was an alcoholic and a drug addict, and I sobered up and I decided I didn't want to be an artist anymore because I was starting to get a little bit famous and it was destabilizing in some way."

She also told The New York Times in 2014 about a horrible encounter where a fan interrupted a very sensitive and personal conversation she was having with a friend. "Once, as my friend was telling me they had cancer, someone came up and asked, in the middle of the conversation, if they could take a photograph with me. You get me? That's enough, right?"

The singer decided that mystery was one of the things missing from pop music and started to perform exclusively in wigs. Although she takes them off once cameras are no longer around, nearly all of her public appearances include a wig. The one thing we can't figure out? How she can see under those thick tufts of hair.

The Marisa Tomei Oscars Conspiracy That's Fascinated Hollywood For Decades

For anyone who watched the Academy Awards on Sunday, the jaw-dropping best picture mix-up for La La Land and Moonlight might have brought to mind a long-circulated Oscars conspiracy regarding Marisa Tomei. Although the two events aren't exactly alike, it's no wonder connections between the 2017 ceremony and a moment at the awards all the way back in 1993 are being drawn.

At the 65th Annual Academy Awards, a shocked Tomei took the stage to accept the Oscar for best supporting actress from presenter Jack Palance thanks to her work in My Cousin Vinnie. Elated and giggly, she celebrated other Hollywood actresses in her speech, profusely thanked costar Joe Pesci, proceeded to the press room to take photos with best supporting actor winner Gene Hackman, and that was that. Except, it wasn't; what should have been a purely celebratory milestone in her career ended up turning into one of Hollywood's oldest and most interesting award season rumors.

Although no one was knocking Tomei's talent, there were a lot of odds stacked against the young actress's win that upped the plausibility of a conspiracy that her surprise Oscars victory wasn't supposed to happen. For starters, her experience and name brand in the industry compared to those of the four other actresses nominated in her category - Miranda Richardson, Vanessa Redgrave, Judy Davis, and Joan Plowright - was severely lacking. Before playing Mona Lisa Vito in My Cousin Vinny in 1992, her most notable Hollywood achievement had been a 22-episode stint in the late '80s sitcom A Different World, along with a small handful of bit parts in films like Oscar and Zandalee. Not only did she not have the lengthy résumés of her competition, but she also had yet to garner the level of respect that is seen by many as critical for winning an Oscars campaign.

On top of her shallow IMDB credits, My Cousin Vinny isn't exactly Oscars bait. Redgrave's Howards End and Richardson's Damage, for instance, are the kind of darker dramas that typically appeal to the Academy's voters over mainstream comedies. Further damning the likelihood of a win for My Cousin Vinny was its release date (March 13, 1992), which happened over a year before the 1993 Oscars ceremony. In other words, it didn't premiere during the usual "Oscar season" in the late Fall and early Winter, when studios start pushing their heavier, high-brow films for consideration.

What finally got people talking about the fact the award might have originally been meant for a different actress, however, was a blurb in The Hollywood Reporter the morning after the Oscars that year, as Gawker's Rich Juzwiak pointed out in 2015. "And the loser is: bad Oscar rumor," the title of the item reads, before revealing that "the former son-in-law of a distinguished Academy Award winner" claimed presenter Palance wasn't able to read the name of the true winner inside of the envelope, so he just happened to call out Tomei's name instead, since hers was the last one on the teleprompter. Entertainment Weekly also acknowledged the conspiracy in a 1994 post, which insinuated the rumor had been started as a way to sully Tomei's otherwise blossoming career.

Despite multiple write-ups, the rumor has since proved false (it even has its own Snopes page).
At the time an Academy spokesman told EW that if the rumor were true and Palance pulled Tomei's name out of thin air, "It's the policy of the Academy that should wrong information be given, a Price Waterhouse rep is empowered to go on stage and make the correction." It's obvious the long-circulated conspiracy is false (no matter how juicy), and the recent La La Land and Moonlight snafu only further proves that a mistakenly announced winner would not be allowed to take the award for themselves, regardless of how awkward things might get on stage (a La La Land producer eventually cleared things up for the audience and told Moonlight to come on stage to accept their prize).

For her part, Tomei escaped the Hollywood rumor mill with nothing more than a potentially bruised ego. She went on to receive two more Oscar nominations for best supporting actress (for 2001's In the Bedroom and 2008's The Wrestler), and has had a steady career ever since. You'll be able to see her next as Peter Parker's Aunt May in Marvel's Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Dancing With the Stars: Meet the Cast of Season 24!

It's that time again - time to survey the cast of the new Dancing With the Stars season! Deals are being put in place, foxtrots are being learned, and hopes and dreams are being put on the line. Last week, Entertainment Tonight exclusively reported the first major casting news, and on Monday, more names surfaced. Though the majority of these are only reported from insider sources (not confirmed by ABC), we're willing to bet they're definitely in the cast. Take a look!

The Major Difference Between These BFFs According to 1 Innocent Little Boy

When Lydia Stith Rosebush told her little boy that his hair was getting wild and that he needed a haircut over the weekend, Jax made a surprising announcement.

The little boy declared that he wanted his head shaved short so that he could look like his friend, Reddy. The adorable little boy was convinced that he and his pal looked similar enough that if they had the same hairstyle, they'd be able to trick everyone. He also thought it would be beyond hilarious to confuse his teacher on Monday.

His mom proudly shared a picture of Jax and Reddy from their school's Christmas event on the Love What Matters Facebook page to make what her son sees perfectly clear. "I'm sure you all see the resemblance," she wrote. "If this isn't proof that hate and prejudice is something that is taught I don't know what is. The only difference Jax sees in the two of them is their hair."

2017: The Year of Unfair Wins

Aren't we used to this feeling by now?

I've been asking myself and my like-minded friends this question a lot lately, and it came up again on Grammy night, when Adele was called to the Grammys stage one final time, for her album 25's win for album of the year. Obviously, Adele is incredible, but even Adele was flabbergasted by the fact that Beyoncé's Lemonade - a history-making, multimedia, cultural touchstone of 2016 - didn't win. "What the f*ck does she have to do to win album of the year?" Adele herself asked in the press room, just after her win.

We don't need to have the conversation of which album was "better" or who's the more talented between two of the most talented women of our generation, because we're looking at the bigger picture. When you look at the history of album of the year, there's a clear disconnect happening with the Recording Academy, and a conversation about race that can't be ignored. Regardless of how you feel about that assertion, if you were one of the millions of Lemonade fans, one thing is certain: Beyoncé was robbed.

Which brings me back to my question: aren't we used to this feeling by now?

Nov. 8, 2016, was the first time it happened. The heartbreak that voters felt over Hillary Clinton's loss to Donald Trump was profound for a country that would be retiring its first black president. Like the glass ceiling that didn't get shattered by Clinton's would-be victory, learning that arrogant white billionaire Trump would be the 45th president made us feel like we were stuck in suspended animation. Or worse, going backward. Up was down. Wrong was right. The lesson trumpeted out was that you could work the hardest, do everything the right way, and still, you'd lose.

Image Source: Getty / Justin Sullivan

In the political realm, the series of losses has piled up: Trump was officially confirmed by the electoral college in December. Betsy DeVos was confirmed as secretary of education. Jeff Sessions was confirmed as attorney general. And it wasn't like we've all been helplessly watching. We voted. We donated to causes that needed it. We participated in marches, wrote postcards, called our elected officials - and the sense that people would do the right thing on our behalf slipped away as the headlines confirmed the worst.

In its wake, the pop culture of 2017 has been following a similar downward spiral, and the Grammys weren't the beginning of it. The Super Bowl became more than the two best football teams in the country competing against each other. Again, the sides of right and wrong seemed to rise up again as the vitriol toward Tom Brady and the Patriots morphed their potential win into a black mark on the year. Brady, seen as a cheater since the notorious Deflategate (and, incidentally, he's actually friends with Trump), represented the white, privileged brat who flouted the rules. Race also infiltrated the divide, as Saturday Night Live's Michael Che joked about it on Weekend Update the night before: "I just want to relax, turn my brain off, and watch the blackest city in America beat the most racist city I've ever been to." Of course, the Patriots won after the Falcons whiffed a 28-3 point lead. Like the Adele/Beyoncé talent debate, the emotional response overtook the logical argument of who played better. That defeated feeling was back, and then it returned two Sundays later for the Grammys.

It's not nearly over, either; in the pop culture world, the Oscars presented its own unfair win when Casey Affleck won the best actor Oscar despite the allegations of sexual assault, despite the outrage, despite another award season hopeful whose Oscar chances were dashed long ago due to similar circumstances.

It's also far from over politically, too, which we painfully remember each time someone reminds us of Trump's four-year term. But even if we can't change things there now, it would be nice to see some progress at the award shows that reflect the art of our time, if they could strive to be on the right side of history. All anyone has to do to take part in the positive change is to start paying attention to these conversations and what's behind them. Like Frank Ocean memorably advised in his pre-Grammys takedown: "Use the old gramophone to actually listen, bro."

Here's the Status of Justin Timberlake and Ryan Gosling's Childhood Friendship

Image Source: Getty / Kevin Winter

Justin Timberlake opened the Oscars with a high-energy performance of "Can't Stop the Feeling," but one of the most memorable parts of his act had to be when he had a mini-reunion with his former Mickey Mouse Club costar, Ryan Gosling. Not only did the two appear in multiple skits together on the '90s show, but they were briefly roommates when Ryan's mother had to return to Canada during their stint on the show. While the duo looked quite chatty during a commercial break, things seemed a little tense when Justin shimmied his way past the La La Land actor. So, was Ryan's resistance to dance along all an act for the cameras, or do the two secretly have some unresolved childhood beef?

Well, the answer is complicated. Even though the two aren't enemies, they aren't exactly best pals either. Shortly before their run-in at the show, Justin "nonchalantly" confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that he wasn't the closest of friends with Ryan anymore. Of course, the Oscars wasn't their only reunion in recent years. In December 2015, the two made all of our childhood dreams come true when they caught up during a Saturday Night Live afterparty in NYC. While they're not as tight as they used to be, there still seems to be a lot of respect between the former costars. Still, we can't help but wonder what a playdate with their little kids would look like. Mickey Mouse Club 2.0?

Wait, That Oscars Snafu Was Actually Exactly Like the Ending of La La Land

Here's to the ones who dream . . . about winning best picture at the Oscars. All anyone can talk about post-Oscars is the best picture flub to end all flubs, in which La La Land was mistakenly presented with the award before producers rushed out to fix the mistake and give it to the rightful winner: Moonlight. It was a surreal moment that really seemed to take away the magic for both films, even though La La Land had already scored a handful of statues (like for its leading lady, Emma Stone), as had Moonlight.

Image Source: Getty / Kevin Winter

But the scene - which can only be described as being like something out of the movies - had sort of a poetic echo of La La Land itself. See, the snafu was a strange parallel to the movie's ending (which, you know, most people hated). Here's how they line up. (And of course, SPOILER ALERT if you haven't seen La La Land yet.)

In the end of La La Land, there's a gorgeous dream sequence in which Mia and Sebastian (Stone and Ryan Gosling's characters) end up together. It's the classic happy ending, but it's not the real ending. It's just a dream, a fake-out for the audience who desperately wants to see these two end up together. Alas, it's not to be, and the two end up apart, living separate lives. It's heartbreaking for a viewer who gets wrapped up in the romance of their relationship.

How weirdly fitting, then, was it that in a dream-like haze, the La La Land cast heard their film's name get called, make their way to the stage, only to have the triumph dash during their acceptance speech to have the mistake corrected? To watch everyone's confusion on and off the stage, as Moonlight was correctly given their award? It was sad for both sides, but you've got to admit - it was cinematic. Like director Damien Chazelle said about his controversial ending, "Real life doesn't always live up to the dreams in the movies."

Here's How That Oscars Tour Group Bit Went Down From the Audience's Perspective

The Academy producers have been attempting to top the viral sensation that was Ellen's Oscars selfie since 2014, and on Sunday night they gave it another try when they brought a group of unsuspecting tourists into the live show. Host Jimmy Kimmel surprised the tour group by walking them directly into the Oscars audience, where they shook hands with nominees like Ryan Gosling and even borrowed sunglasses from presenter Jennifer Aniston. Audiences at home watched the scene on TV with confusion and disbelief, but what was it like for the major stars actually sitting in the crowd? Keith Urban, who was there to support his nominated wife, Nicole Kidman, captured some of the fun on his phone and later shared it to Twitter. How to Get a Taste of the Best New Snacks Before Anyone Else, Straight From an Expert

Source: POPSUGAR Photography / Nicole Perry

Do you ever wonder who spots the craziest new junk foods, like Firework Oreos and Twinkies ice cream, on store shelves before anyone else? Turns out, there's a whole community of junk-food hunters who constantly deliver the buzziest new products to their eager followers, including established Instagram accounts like The Junk Food Aisle.

A few years ago, the Chicago-based blogger became obsessed with the idea of being the first to try the best and biggest new products before the rest of the world caught up. "With each new release it was always, "How can I get my hands on these ASAP? The real inspiration to finally sit down and make my own junk food news site came when I was introduced to the Sweets & Snacks Expo here in Chicago. After some digging I found that a media pass would be my best way in, and from there I really started to figure out what a junk food blog of my own would look like. The result was The Junk Food Aisle."

Oreo addicts that we are, POPSUGAR Food editors reached out to the anonymous person behind the ingenious Instagram account to find out the expert's secrets. Are all those photos real? How does someone manage to find the most head-turning packaged foods before anyone else? Any tips for other like-minded snack aficionados? Discover all that and more, ahead.

Look everywhere - including multiple stores.

If you strike out at one store, that doesn't mean a second store won't have what you're looking for. The key is to look carefully every time you shop, because you never know what you'll find. The Instagram expert says, "At this point, with my page, I can't just stop in a grocery to pick up milk, I first have to take a lap down each aisle and see if any new products catch my eye. It also helps to know that no two stores are the same. Just because one Walmart doesn't have any new Pringles flavors doesn't mean the Walmart two miles away won't."

Don't underestimate the power of a hashtag.

When in doubt, search your favorite brands on social to see if there are any sneak-peek announcements. "Social media and the internet in general are great resources too - both for finding out what products are coming out and also just in helping to know where to look for certain things. It's just a matter of knowing where to look online, following junk food accounts like mine, and checking product hashtags on Instagram to know what's out there and where."

Keep an eye on the most innovative brands.

With so many new products flooding snack shelves, there's got to be at least one brand standing out from all the rest. In the Junk Food Aisle's opinion, "Hostess has a lot going on right now, between their new snacks like the Chocolate Cake Twinkie and their new ice creams and frozen dessert offerings. They've unloaded a lot of cool new ideas in the past month or two."

Some of the other most popular brands among the Junk Food Aisle's followers are Kit Kat and Reese's. "Tic Tacs do surprisingly well too," the blogger admits.

But the ultimate leader? Oreo - no surprise there. "Oreo once again is the leader of the pack here in my mind. Swedish Fish Oreos? That's such an outside-the-box idea, and even though a lot of people thought they were gross they certainly got everyone talking. I think it's great they would try something different like that and I hope they continue to. In addition to new flavors, we've also recently seen new products like Oreo Churros, Oreo Eggs, and the candy bars. I'm always excited to see what they come up with next!"

Same, Junk Food Aisle. Same.
