Alton Brown and Bill Nye Are Joining Forces to Make Your Geekiest Dreams Come True
We're beyond excited for the premiere of Bill Nye Saves the World on Netflix and for one reason in particular: Alton Brown makes a guest appearance.
In the trailer for Bill Nye's new show, out April 21, we get a glimpse of fellow science geeks Alton and Bill up to something in a laboratory setting. As they toss their heads back in cackles of laughter, mysterious liquids in hand, we can only imagine what they're concocting. If this episode is anything like a hybrid between Alton's Eat Your Science tour and Bill's classic performances, we're in for a wild ride.
This news comes on the heels of Alton Brown's announcement that Good Eats is returning, kind of. The Food Network host is bringing back a show similar to Good Eats but called something different and available only online. In a tease to his fans, Alton mentioned his relationship with Bill Nye - once calling him his "hero" - admitting, "I'm not the Bill Nye of food. He is way smarter and has more bow ties than I do."
Me and my hero. http://pic.twitter.com/V9fe1Jm4p0
- Alton Brown (@altonbrown) April 21, 2015
Whether Alton is the Bill Nye of food or not, there's no denying that the reunion between the two is exciting. We're ready for a lesson in nitrogen, crazy chemical reactions, and whatever other educational recipes these two have up their lab-coat sleeves.
Food nerds, unite! Watch the full trailer below.

And if, perhaps, you're unaware of his hot dad status, we've rounded up all the proof you need. Keep reading for a peek at Gerard's sexiest pictures. When you're done swooning, remind yourself that he is not single and check out his sweetest moments with Shakira.
12 Healthy Instant Pot Recipes That Will Make You Forget Your Slow Cooker

Embrace the latest cooking trend by whipping up one of these good-for-you soups, Paleo-friendly meat recipes, and a hearty lightened-up chili. The best part? There's barely any cleanup involved. We can get into that.
This Is the Stupidest Mistake You Can Make at Trader Joe's
It's hard to go wrong at Trader Joe's with so many solid and affordable options, but there is one mistake you could be making without even realizing it. If you're not asking to try products before you buy them, you could end up wasting a lot of money on groceries in the long run. Yep, that's right - Trader Joe's has a "try before you buy" policy! In addition to its generous return policy, the store has a policy that allows customers to try just about anything that they're unsure about buying. This includes snacks, produce, and ready-made foods like salads, sushi, and cheese.
I spoke to an employee at my local store and he confirmed that the only foods not included are raw or frozen foods (that require cooking) and alcohol (of course). This is not to say that you should be the annoying person who asks to try 20 things every time you shop there, but it means you should totally ask an employee to open up any new Trader Joe's products you're eyeing, like dark chocolate mango sorbet bon bons or sweet sriracha bacon jerky. It's not likely that your bill will be superhigh anyway, but this is another way to save money at Trader Joe's, and honestly, it's just another reason to love the store.

3 of the Most Effective Weight Loss Tips, From Real Success Stories
Weight loss is hard. It's not black and white, and it's certainly not cookie-cutter. There are struggles, setbacks, and times you might wonder, "Why did I even start? Is there a light at the end of the tunnel?" But with these stories from women who achieved their success in all different ways, we can gain a strong sense of hope.
There's a different approach for everyone, and each woman's winning combination of tools is different. That said, there are a few common themes that we've noticed again and again - ones that you can implement no matter what your body type, habits, or goals. We've interviewed women who have lost between 25 and 225 pounds; their three best tips (collectively) were about movement, mindful eating, and support systems. We'll let them tell you exactly how these things worked in their journeys, and how each contributed to their overall success.
Move More
Though some women really went hard and opted for six or more days of workouts, not everyone needed such a strenuous schedule to lose the weight. It's just about moving more. For Katie who lost over 200 pounds, and Brooke and Hailey who each lost over 100, each of them aimed to reach 10,000 steps per day, tracking with either a Fitbit or a phone app. Setting an attainable goal that equates to just walking a little bit extra is attainable, and can add up over time. In fact, it's one of celebrity trainer Harley Pasternak's best weight loss tips - and these women are living proof that it works.
"I have actually found that exercise replaced food as an excellent way to relieve stress and make me feel in control"
If you're already somewhat active, adding in some more workouts is key. For Kara (who lost 40 pounds), her key was variety. "I am a member at a couple of local fitness studios in our neighborhood that offer Spin, barre, yoga, and circuit classes; therefore on the days we work our legs and booty, I'll take a barre class with a friend. If cardio is on the schedule, I'll take a Spin class. I work out five to six days a week."
The more you move, the more it'll become part of your daily routine. "I love working out, and have actually found that it replaced food as an excellent way to relieve stress and make me feel in control," said Hailey. "On an average week, I work out four to six times and try to keep it as fresh and engaging as possible."
Eat Mindfully
Most of the women we talked to who had accomplished major weight loss attributed their healthier weight to more mindful eating and conscious choices. "Preparing meals at home is one of the most effective ways to manage weight," said Brooke, but she also mentioned that "it has to be easy and enjoyable or it won't happen consistently."
Caitlin, who lost 25 pounds, is also more deliberate with her food, and conscious of how her body feels when she eats. "I try to allow myself to eat out and trust myself to choose options that I know will allow me to feel good afterwards, and to stop when I'm full. I try to just check in with myself like, 'Do you really want that?'" Kara had similar sentiments. She told POPSUGAR that she focuses on healthier choices, but still loves food, so she monitors how her choices make her feel physically. "If I do indulge in a heavy, unhealthy meal, my body now reacts poorly as it's become so accustomed to clean ingredients; therefore I find myself struggling to gather energy or I'll feel just plain sick, so I've really stopped eating anything I know is going to make me feel sluggish."
"It's all about knowing what is good or bad for your body, being aware of what you're consuming, said Kat, who lost 40 pounds. "As long as it's healthy calories, the weight will come off." Speaking of healthy calories, part of deliberate and mindful eating includes being educated and learning as much as you can about your food. Taylor, a woman who lost about 25 pounds, used that education as an advantage in her weight loss journey. "I am aware of more calorie-dense options like the healthy fats in almond butter, coconut oil, and avocado, and I am mindful to keep those in moderation."
Find Motivation in Community
For Becca, it was Weight Watchers that helped with her 100 pound weight loss. She used the community and the app as a way to stay on track. "You can see amazing before and after pictures, recipes, and tips," she said. "It really helps to keep me motivated."
Brooke found strength in the BBG community, saying "It's empowering to be vulnerable about our flaws, share our goals, and cheer each other on." She noted that before finding the other women through BBG, that she "carried around a tremendous amount of shame" about her weight. "It was liberating to let go of that and realize that I wasn't alone."
"It was liberating to let go of that shame and realize that I wasn't alone."
Ensuring that you have that support and don't feel isolated is paramount to the success you'll see on your own journey. Kara told us that her "accountability partner," is the person who keeps her in check, and keeps her going to "a 6 a.m. Spin or circuit class one to two times a week." Whether it's a best friend, significant other, coworker, parent, or family member, you need to find someone who can hold you accountable and help you get through any and all setbacks.
For both Caitlin and Cait (who has yet another amazing weight loss success story), that support came from Tone It Up. Upon finding the community on Instagram, Cait said "It was the first time I realized maybe I can do this, and it doesn't have to be torture. These girls were just like me." That identity and support helped Cait reach her goals. "I started forming new habits, pushing myself to new heights, trying new workouts, sometimes failing, sometimes shining, but always being supported through my ups and downs. I loved supporting others and loved seeing the girls cheer me on!"
Caitlin said that "the TIU community was a total support system for me and still is," noting that it extended well beyond her weight loss. "The women in the community are incredible and will support, encourage, and listen as you go through whatever journey you're on. These women share through pregnancies, losses, marriages . . . it's not just weight, but the emotional factors that usually are the drivers of our bad habits. I went to the Tone It Up retreat 2015 where I got to meet a bunch of the women I felt I already knew from following them on Instagram, and I am so happy I can now call them my friends."
These 6 Fashion Week Moments Were Beyond Powerful
For the past few seasons, the industry has seen major progress on the runways during Fashion Month. There's diverse casting in shows, giving way to models of more shapes, sizes, gender identities, and colors. And we're continuing to welcome change. In order to do that, we must pause to celebrate all the milestones - the major moments that gave us chills because they were so meaningful and, especially in 2017, spoke to the political climate.
Whether it was spotting a symbolic white bandana on the streets of Paris, tied around a blogger's bag to represent unity, or soaking up the powerful finale at Prabal Gurung, where models wore t-shirts carrying messages of unity, we were inspired by the action around us all month. All of the events here made us feel strong, proud, stylish - and a little bit nasty - all at the same time. Scroll to reminisce.

It's Hard Not to Cry Along With Viola Davis During Her Tearful Oscars Speech
Viola Davis is an Oscar winner! On Sunday night, she took home the best supporting actress trophy for her brilliant work in Fences (which she also won a Tony for), and her passionate, tearful speech had everyone in the audience (and at home) getting emotional. After profusely thanking Fences playwright August Wilson and costar Denzel Washington, Davis gushed about her family. "To Dan and Mary Alice Davis, who were and are the center of my universe, the people who taught me good or bad how to fail, how to love, how to hold, how to lose," she said of her parents, before directing her gaze at husband Julius Tennon. "You teach me every day how to live and how to love. I'm so glad you are the foundation of my life."

Selena Gomez and The Weeknd threw everyone for a loop when they were photographed kissing outside of Giorgio Baldi restaurant in LA on Jan. 10, just two months after the "Starboy" singer split from model Bella Hadid. Their relationship is fairly new, but the stars haven't tried to keep it under wraps. Not only are they now officially following each other on Instagram, but they recently enjoyed a romantic vacation in Italy, where they were not shy about showing PDA. It's only been a month since Selena and The Weeknd first got together, but so much has happened since then.

Kat Von D Beauty Is Working on New Longwear Formulas, and They Look Insanely Good
Whenever we're having a rough day, we head to our comfort zone, a.k.a. the Instagram feeds of powerful makeup mavens. One such feed is that of Nancy McGuire, the VP of Product Development at Kat Von D Beauty. She often posts sneak peeks of upcoming launches from the cult-favorite brand, but two new videos she's shared have us positively spellbound.
Fans of Kat Von D's products know that they are quite durable and hold up to many longwear tests. But it seems that the product development team is working on ramping up its formulas to be basically semi-permanent. In a series of videos, McGuire demonstrated how a series of mysterious swatches WILL NOT BUDGE when rubbed aggressively. (We're not ashamed to admit we watched this video five times in a row in great awe.) She then showed how they could be removed with Kat Von D Unlock-It Makeup Remover Wipes ($10). Basically, it's beauty sorcery.
Here's hoping that these new products included in that swatch line up get launched soon! We're looking forward to them with bated breath. In the meantime, though, we're watching these videos on repeat.
That's No Moon, It's a Tatooine-Like Star System That Astronomers Just Discovered
Get your hyperdrive fixed: astronomers recently discovered a star system with rocky asteroid debris, making the possibility of a Tatooine-like planet real. The team of researchers at University College London (UCL) published their findings in Nature Astronomy.
Using the Gemini Observatory South Telescope and the European Southern Observatory Very Large Telescope (real name) in Chile, the team found rocky fragments orbiting two stars (a white and brown dwarf) in a system called SDSS 1557. Located about 1,000 light years away, the rocky fragments point to the possibility of a planet like Tatooine existing. Usually, astronomers have only found "carbon-rich icy material" in two-star systems.
This is the first time a discovery of a rocky planet forming around two stars has been made. Previously, only systems like our own, with one star and "gas giants" like Jupiter, have been found.
"Building rocky planets around two suns is a challenge because the gravity of both stars can push and pull tremendously, preventing bits of rock and dust from sticking together and growing into full-fledged planets," said Dr. Jay Farhi, the lead author on the finding. "With the discovery of asteroid debris in the SDSS 1557 system, we see clear signatures of rocky planet assembly via large asteroids that formed, helping us understand how rocky exoplanets are made in double star systems."
The team isn't done looking at this system, as they will continue to research it to see if the material is actually rock. Don't let us down UCL researchers - you're our only hope to achieving our Star Wars dreams.

Read on to catch a glimpse.
People Are Concerned About How Trump Takes His Steak For 1 Alarming Reason
It's no secret that Donald Trump's diet is not exactly nutritionist recommended, but the president's steak-eating habits in particular have people talking more and more lately. Trump prefers to order his steak well done, and at a recent dinner at the BLT Steakhouse, the restaurant inside the Trump Hotel in Washington DC, he reportedly dipped it in ketchup, too.
"The president ordered a well-done steak. An aged New York strip. He ate it with ketchup as he always does," a waiter at the restaurant said, according to the Independent Journal Review's report of Trump's dinner at his steakhouse.
And now Anthony Bourdain isn't the only one judging Trump for his steak preferences. Not only are people calling Trump out on Twitter, but some people are also pointing out that Trump's habits might speak to a larger mentality. Eater has analyzed Trump's steak habits even further in an op-ed about why the way Donald Trump eats his steak matters, saying, "A person who won't eat his steak any doneness but well is a person who won't entertain the notion that there could be a better way. A person who refuses to try something better is a person who will never make things good." The opinion piece points out that this eating habit might imply a fear of risk-taking and adaptability.
What do you think about the whole conversation: are people taking it too far, or does the fact that Trump orders his steak well done (with ketchup) bother you?

A Quick Reminder of the Movies Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone Have Costarred In
Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling are shaping up to be quite the onscreen duo. La La Land earned rave reviews and slayed the award-season circuit, winning all seven of the Golden Globes it was up for and scoring Oscar nods for both Stone and Gosling. (Emma won!) They clearly love working together, because they keep doing it. It's been seven years since they initially costarred in a film, so in case you've forgotten, here are the movies they've appeared in together.
St. Vincent Directed a Horror Movie Because She's Scared of Them
There's something special about the new horror movie XX. Not only is it an anthology, featuring four completely different and terrifying short films, but it also boasts four fantastic female directors. Karyn Kusama handled a disturbing secret in The Box, a celebration takes a dark turn in The Birthday Party by Annie Clark (aka St. Vincent), Roxanne Benjamin hones in on a camping trip gone wrong in Don't Fall, and Jovanka Vuckovic deals with the devil in Her Only Living Son. We sat down with Clark and Benjamin to discuss the groundbreaking project, female empowerment, and the horror genre as a whole.
- Annie Clark on what inspired her directorial debut: "ToiletPaper Magazine, Michael Haneke (Funny Games), Weekend at Bernie's meets Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?."
- Roxanne Benjamin on her inspiration: "Creep Show, Tales From the Crypt, Twilight Zone, EC Comics, Dimestore Pulp."
- Clark on how directing has changed her creative process: "It has in the sense of working on projects that are nonmusical, that are like strange art installations. And in the sense of how things can be shot and even . . . so getting to explore the meaning among film and storytelling and storytelling in a different medium. It's so fun and you exercise different parts of your brain. . . . You get better at everything."
- Clark on why she chose to direct a horror movie: "I don't like horror movies. I'm scared of them. But I'm scared of everything. Fear motivates most human actions. . . . Stare into the void. See what happens."
- Clark on a directorial fantasy: "I'd like to be in the same room as Isabelle Huppert, Cate Blanchett, and Sarah Paulson. . . . I would like to be involved creatively in something with all of them."
- Benjamin on the power of having four female directors: "Any different voice offers a different perspective of the world. Whether it's female, or low-income, or just nonwhite in any form is outside of what we consider the norm of what we see in filmmaking. So much of it is dominated by a while male voice. . . . I don't have all the answers."
- Clark on how women can assert themselves in male-dominated spaces: "I think the answer is make things. Let the art speak for itself. Make things, make things. Encourage other women. Don't be women who are misogynistic. Don't be crabs in a barrel. Make things."
- Clark on being a famous musician: "I warned her [nods at Benjamin], I was like, 'I'm kind of a big deal in the music industry.' She did not care."
XX is now playing in limited release.
This Is the Stupidest Mistake You Can Make at Whole Foods
I recently had the misfortune of discovering the most expensive item in the ready-made hot foods section of Whole Foods. Knowing everything is priced by the pound, I thought I was being smart and conscientious when I filled up the smallest container with mashed potatoes. "They surely couldn't charge more than $5 for a small box of potatoes, right?" I told myself.
I proudly walked the items up to the cash register, and the cashier weighed my tiny box. My stomach flopped when "$14" appeared on the screen. "Excuse me, sir. Did you accidentally rest your hand on the scale? I couldn't possibly have just scooped $14 worth of potatoes into that container," I said, trying to ease my discomfort. He chuckled and shook his head, "There's no mistake. The hot bar is the 'Whole' in 'Whole Paycheck,' hon." There was no chance I could abandon the container either. Once scooped, must purchase. I simultaneously felt robbed and like a complete idiot.
FYI, everyone, the hot bar is $8.99 a pound. Let it be known that the smallest container fills approximately 1.6 pounds worth of mashed potatoes. Also worth noting, the mashed potatoes from the hot bar are the same price in the hot deli: $8.99. I'm never, ever, ever going back to the Whole Foods hot bar . . . that is, until the 365 by Whole Foods store opens in my neighborhood and the hot bar is priced by the container size, not by weight. The same container at a 365 store would cost me $5.50, a MUCH more reasonable price for mashed potatoes.
This 72-Year-Old Grandma Has the Most Killer Brows - and She Just Revealed Her Secrets!
When we think of our grandma's beauty routine, rouge-smothered cheeks and red lipstick immediately come to mind (and a generous spritz of perfume), but this internet sensation - and our new beauty hero - just slammed that stereotype.
Reddit user cultseaa posted a photo of their 72-year-old grandma's eyebrows, writing, "I just noticed how strong her eyebrow game is." We're wondering . . . how could she NOT notice? This image is proof that incredible eyebrows have no age limit.
The extended arch, perfect fill, and on-point color put this grandma in the top tier of flawless arches. Cultseaa explained that her grandmother uses It Cosmetics Brow Power Super Skinny ($24) to fill in the brows and Benefit Gimme Brow Volumizing Eyebrow Gel ($24) to get the perfect look, both of which "she said she orders off QVC or HSN" and has been "filling them in for over 40 years." Grandma is a trendsetter!
We're going to assume she didn't fall victim to the early 2000s tweezing trend, and for that alone, we are envious. Keep reading to see how to get this exact eyebrow look for yourself!
Channing Tatum "Was Trying to Run From" Wife Jenna When They First Met
Jenna Dewan and Channing Tatum met back in 2006 while filming Step Up, and despite it being 11 years ago, their love story is definitely one for the books. Channing previously admitted to Elle magazine that he was hesitant at first because he "had just gotten out of a pretty long relationship" and "was in no way ready for another." In fact, he "was trying to run from what I knew Jenna was - not someone I was just going to date. But one of my buddies was like, 'What are you doing, man? She's dope.' That night I showed up at her hotel room with a sombrero on, and that was it . . . we were drinking at a Mexican joint and I stole [the sombrero] off the wall."
The pair ended up getting married in the Summer of 2009, welcomed their daughter Everly in May 2013, and have been bringing new meaning to the term "couple goals" ever since. Perhaps it was the sombrero that did it for Jenna?

We Know You've Been Wondering What Michelle Obama Has Been Up to Since Leaving the White House
When Barack Obama officially left the White House on Jan. 20, not only did we lose our beloved president but we also had to say goodbye to our fearless first lady, Michelle. On Inauguration Day, Michelle and Barack released a video detailing their plans for the coming months, which included getting some sleep, spending quality time with their family, and taking a break from social media - you know, normal stuff. While many of us are still reeling from their departure, it's safe to say that Michelle is doing just fine without us.
Strength vs. Cardio - Here's How You Should Structure Your Workout
Ask most trainers and they'll tell you that a healthy workout routine consists of strength training, cardio, and rest days, ideally spread throughout the week. But for those of us who love two-a-days or long sessions at the gym or just need to maximize our time, the common question seems to be: Which do I do first, strength or cardio?
This was the burning question I had for Natalie Carey, certified trainer and sports nutritionist at DIAKADI Fitness. "Strength training should always come first - always," Natalie said without skipping a beat. The benefits of structuring your workouts this way are plenty, she added.
Fat Loss
If losing weight is your goal - specifically fat - weight training before your cardio session has major benefits, Natalie said. She explained that strength training increases the "afterburn effect." Your resting metabolism rate is heightened and your body is working to help your muscles recover, which results in an increased calorie burn long after the workout is over. This is an ideal place to be in when you hit your cardio session.
Diana Chaloux, CPT and owner of the online personal-training website HitchFit, is also in agreement. "When you strength train, your body utilizes glycogen (stored carbohydrates) for fuel," Diana said. "So if you strength train first and then do lower-intensity cardio immediately after, which uses fat for fuel, you create an environment in your body conducive to fat metabolism." Basically by the time you get to your cardio session, your body will be primed to burn fat at a higher rate than if you did it the other way around.
Injury Prevention
Compared to cardio, it's much easier to get injured while strength training. And strength training while tired only increases that risk, said Natalie. This is perhaps the biggest reason she advises clients to strength train before a cardio session. "You want to make sure you have the energy to perform the exercises correctly," she said. "Poor form can result in an injury that will get you off track with your training goals."
It's important to note that even if you feel energized and unaffected by your cardio session, your body was still put through the motions and energy stores were depleted. This fatigue may cause your form and focus to be affected in ways you might not be able to notice on your own. Whatever you ultimately decide, be mindful of how you feel and do your best to know when it's time to back off.

This Is Us: This Theory About Jack's Death Is the Most Believable 1 Yet
If you're a fan of This Is Us, then you already know that Jack Pearson (Milo Ventimiglia) is no longer alive in present day. The show, which goes back and forth between decades, has dropped a few hints about how Jack dies, but the show's creator, Dan Fogelman, has said that fans won't find out exactly what happened for quite some time. There have been numerous theories floating around on the internet since the show started - alcoholism, a car crash, heart attack - but they all seem to fall just a little bit short. There is even a theory that Jack perishes in 9/11, but that timeline also doesn't seem to accurately add up.
A new plane crash theory made it's way onto social media in early February after Redditor user knuckle_cracker did some serious digging, and this one actually makes total sense (and is completely devastating). The user theorizes that Jack dies in a real-life plane crash that happened in Pittsburgh in 1994, where the Pearson family lives at the time.
USAir Flight 427 left Chicago's O'Hare International Airport on Sept. 8 and was headed to Pittsburgh, with a final destination of West Palm Beach, FL. While attempting to land at Pittsburgh International Airport, the plane's rudder malfunctioned and went hard-over in the opposite direction the pilots commanded it to, which caused the plane to enter an aerodynamic stall. The pilots couldn't recover from this, and all 132 people on board were killed. The user writes, "While Jack and Miguel were talking during the most recent episode, Miguel asks Jack if he's seen Jurassic Park (which came out in '93). I took this as a clue for the rough time-frame of that period (which judging by the kid's ages, is also the time-frame in which Jack dies)."
Jack's daughter Kate (Chrissy Metz) also seems to be the most-affected by his death, as we see her experience traumatic flashbacks to her father's funeral and her inability to talk to Toby (Chris Sullivan) about what happened. The user theorizes that this is because Jack called Kate from the plane and talked to her before it crashed. "What if Jack was on the flight . . . and before it crashed, he was somehow able to call the house?" the user wrote. "Maybe Kate was on the receiving end and she was the one that got to speak to her father, minutes, maybe seconds, before his death. This would explain the trauma and close connection that she has to Jack's death, and it would be one hell of a tear-jerker."
If you have doubts about this theory, the show has dropped a few hints that it could be true: we know Kevin (Justin Hartley) destroys every model airplane he made with his dad after his death, Kate gets extremely nervous and upset when she experiences turbulence on her flight from LA to New York, and Kevin mentions in the first episode that the 1986 Challenger explosion was particularly hard on him. We're already dreading watching these scenes if this turns out to be true . . .
Jimmy Kimmel's Burns Were One of the Best Parts of This Year's Oscars
Jimmy Kimmel seems like he was practically made in a factory to be the ideal Oscars host. For his first time hosting the big show, he did an excellent job. His opening monologue targeted Matt Damon (of course), Mel Gibson, and pretty much everyone sitting in the front row. Throughout the show, he made fun of almost all the nominees and eventually brought it back to Matt Damon. Here are his best one-liners of the night!
- "I really hope the other guys from *NSYNC were watching that performance because if they were, I think there's a really good chance they're going to let you back in the band." - After Justin Timberlake's performance
- "There's only one Braveheart in this room, and he's not gonna unite us either. You look great, I think the Scientology is working." - To Mel Gibson
- "He handed that part to his friend and took a Chinese ponytail movie. That movie went on to lose $80 million. Smooth move, dumbass." - Burning Matt Damon and his movie The Great Wall
- "Remember last year, when it seemed like the Oscars were racist?" - Referencing President Donald Trump and the current political state in America
- "Tonight is very important for Damien. If he wins, he'll be able to go to any college he wants." - Making fun of how young La La Land director Damien Chazelle is
- "We're also here to honor the actors who seem great, but actually really aren't. And of all the 'great actors' here in Hollywood, one in particular has stood the test of time for her many uninspiring and overrated performances. From her mediocre early work in The Deer Hunter and Out of Africa to her underwhelming performances in Kramer vs. Kramer and Sophie's Choice, Meryl Streep has phoned it in for more than 50 film over the course of her lackluster career." - Joking about Meryl Streep
- "Some of you will get to give a speech the President will tweet about in all caps during his 5 a.m. bowel movement tomorrow." - Poking fun about Trump's tweeting habits
- "Guys. This is very unfortunate, what happened. Personally, I blame Steve Harvey for this." - Trying to soften the blow after the best picture mix-up

It’s Official: a Lego Women of NASA Set Is Coming Soon!
When I was growing up, the only woman in science I ever heard of was Sally Ride. It took my own research and time to learn about other women I could look up to. It's an issue many women are aware of - and worry about what message society is sending to little girls who want to have a career in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields. Well, thanks to one designer, girls will get the chance to learn about five women who made an impact and created a legacy at NASA, including Katherine Johnson, one of the main characters from the film Hidden Figures, thanks to a new Lego set.
The Women of NASA Lego set, designed by Maia Weinstock, the deputy editor of MIT News, showcases five women with storied careers at NASA. They are: Margaret Hamilton, Katherine Johnson, Sally Ride, Nancy Grace Roman, and Mae Jemison. The set features different aspects of what these women accomplished like Nancy Grace Roman posing with the Hubble Space Telescope - a project she helped develop. There's also Mae Jemison, the first African-American woman who went to space, next to the Space Shuttle. Katherine Johnson poses with a pencil and other technology - key tools to calculate information for the Mercury and Apollo programs.
It wasn't easy for the Women of NASA set to get to this point. It was originally submitted as a concept to Lego Ideas on July 18, 2016. Any Lego Ideas project needs at least 10,000 supporters and then, the Lego Review Board needs to approve the idea. The Women of NASA set achieved both, with the Lego Review Board giving the project a green light on Feb. 28.
No final details about availability or price are out yet, but we can't wait to see girls discover and learn about these women. See photos of the adorable and incredible Lego set ahead.
I'm a Fashion Blogger, and I Created a 3-Item Plan to Save My Sanity and My Wardrobe
The following post was originally featured on Yanira Garza and written by Yanira Garza, who is part of POPSUGAR Select Latina.
I know, everyone is in organization mode but this is something I've thought about for a while, but would like to implement this year. First things, first. I have taken out 100 items from my closet. Yes, you read that correctly. I have donated two boxes and one bag full of clothing and accessories. But the truth is, a few of these items were kept because of either sentimental value or because they were expensive (though I got a deal). I never wore them more than once or kept tossing them in the "maybe" pile; as in maybe one day I will wear them. Those 100 pieces were all "maybe" pieces.
As a stylist, I know better but sometimes you just cannot help yourself . . . I am human, too, you know. However, I have been pickier when I shop and at times have told my husband that I wasn't even in the mood to shop. Gasp! I don't know, maybe the tide is shifting and I need to love what I am wearing now to wear it. So, no more maybes. Here is the plan I'm sticking to after cleaning out my closet.
The Three Item Plan
At the beginning of every season, I will allow myself to purchase just three items. I am looking not to replace the 100 pieces I have tossed, but to invest in pieces that will get more wear. Do these have to be splurges? No. They could be a pair of $40 shoes as long as I wear them and wear them often. That is what I mean by quality. I have to see its worth in wearability. Being limited to only three items will be hard, but doable. There are only a few exceptions to the rule:
Undergarments: These need to be replaced often, so they will not be included in my three-item plan.
Beauty Products: Mascaras should be replaced every three months for hygienic reasons, and my skincare is non-negotiable. This applies to wardrobe pieces only.
Gifts: Anything that is gifted will not be included; however, if I get a gift card and use it to purchase an item, then it counts towards the three.
Brand Collaborations: Sometimes my job has a few nice perks. At times, I get offered these projects that involve gifted wardrobe items. This will not be included. However, I will be just as picky about these items, as I do not want to start creating another "maybe" pile.
Why the torture? Because I had 100 items in my closet that I barely wore. Will I save more money? Maybe or maybe not. I'm not limiting myself to an actual budget. If the item is worth the splurge and something I know I will wear regularly, then I will buy it. So maybe I will spend the same amount on 12 pieces that I did on that 100 or maybe not.
I will say this, this will be hard so I need a few of you to join me on this! Feel free to tag me on purchases using the hashtag #3ItemPlan. Who's in?
Hold Up: Did Russell Crowe Just Sort of Agree to Play Cable in Deadpool 2?
Before we even knew Deadpool was officially getting a sequel, we already had a strong inkling that one new face would definitely show up: Cable. The tip traces all the way back to the original film's postcredits scene, which hilariously pays homage to Ferris Bueller's Day Off. In it, Deadpool confirms that Cable would join for round two. Cable, if you don't know, is the son of Jean Grey's clone and Cyclops, both from the X-Men franchise. The question, of course, becomes, who would play the badass Marvel character? Well, if you've been keeping your eye on Twitter the past couple weeks, you may have seen the answer.
Near the end of February, the creator of the Deadpool comic books (Robert Liefeld) basically revealed his dream casting for the role: Russell Crowe. Instead of just putting the wish out there in the Twitter ether, though, he actually tweeted at Crowe. And the best part is, Crowe not only responded, but seemed to warm up pretty quickly to the idea. Let's go over the full, delicious timeline of the weirdest superhero movie casting process you've ever seen.
1. Liefeld Basically Asks Russell Crowe to Sign On For the Role
@russellcrowe you should read for #Cable in Deadpool and X-Force. Just sayin...
- robertliefeld (@robertliefeld) February 24, 2017
On a late Thursday night, Liefeld tweeted to Russell Crowe out of nowhere and said he should read for the character. The next morning, Crowe responded in a way only an Oscar winner could: "I should read for it?" This roughly translates to, "I don't audition for roles. They're offered to me." Which is, well, pretty fair. Liefeld wrote back almost immediately, saying, "huge fan sir. Poorly worded. Apologies." Then, Crowe dragged Ryan Reynolds into it and basically said he'd consider it.
I'm sure if @VancityReynolds has any interest in that idea he'll find a way https://t.co/KFUC6fIxjS
- Russell Crowe (@russellcrowe) February 24, 2017
While Reynolds has yet to respond, Liefeld apologized again, sent over a photoshopped image of Crowe as Cable, and called it "an absolutely irresistible notion."
2. Liefeld Tweets a Hilarious Aside After the Whole Exchange
Note to self, don't caffeine tweet @russellcrowe before nodding off to sleep.
- robertliefeld (@robertliefeld) February 24, 2017
After all that back and forth, Liefeld once again called out his own lack of tact when approaching Russell Crowe.
3. Russell Crowe Personally Feeds the Fire
Hmmm... @robertliefeld thoughts? https://t.co/l7MpN0JQGp
- Russell Crowe (@russellcrowe) February 28, 2017
A few days later, Crowe initiated a little conversation of his own. The actor retweeted some fan art depicting him as Cable and asked Liefeld to weigh in. He responded almost immediately, saying, "Freaking AWESOME sir!!"
4.Liefeld Reaches Out Again
Figured you'd love this one @russellcrowe https://t.co/ZdYIpKpN9r
- robertliefeld (@robertliefeld) February 28, 2017
Most recently, Liefeld sent another piece of fan art to Crowe. Although he didn't respond directly, he did retweet another piece of fan art from the same artist, and he also retweeted this poll asking if Crowe would be a good fit for the role. At this point, it's clear both Liefeld and Crowe are pretty into the idea. Now, we just need input from Reynolds and an official casting confirmation, and all systems are go. But at this point, it seems like Crowe is as good as locked in.
Lady Gaga Is Replacing Beyoncé at Coachella!
On Tuesday, Lady Gaga basically saved this year's Coachella lineup. Beyoncé tragically dropped out of the festival due to her recently announced pregnancy, and Mother Monster is stepping in. The Hollywood Reporter claims the pop star is finalizing plans to perform and will make it official in the days to come. The gig will be perfect for Gaga, seeing as she has already announced a world tour for her new album, Joanne, right after her showstopping Super Bowl performance. Get your paws up, because Coachella is about to be overrun by Little Monsters.
Warren Beatty Wants the Academy President to "Publicly Clarify What Happened" at the Oscars
Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway committed a massive flub on Sunday night when they announced the wrong winner at the Oscars. PricewaterhouseCoopers - the accounting firm that partners with the Academy and counts the votes - released not one, but two statements about the snafu on Monday, but Warren says Academy president Cheryl Boone Isaacs should "publicly" address the fiasco. While Warren didn't comment any further on the mistake, he did release a statement to The Associated Press on Tuesday, stating, "I feel it would be more appropriate for the president of the Academy, Cheryl Boone Isaacs, to publicly clarify what happened as soon as possible." The Academy has yet to comment.
