After hitting up the Beauty and the Beast premiere with Jay Z and daughter Blue, Beyoncé stepped out in style for her stepfather Richard Lawson's 70th birthday party on Wednesday. Chrissy Teigen and 15 Other Celeb Moms Who've Shared Postpartum Depression Struggles

As many as 19 percent of new moms suffer from postpartum depression, and celebrities are no different. Chrissy Teigen is the latest star parent to speak out about her postpartum experience after the birth of her first daughter, Luna. "Most days were spent on the exact same spot on the couch and rarely would I muster up the energy to make it upstairs for bed. John would sleep on the couch with me, sometimes four nights in a row," Teigen shared in in Glamour's April 2017 issue. "I started keeping robes and comfy clothes in the pantry so I wouldn't have to go upstairs when John went to work. There was a lot of spontaneous crying."

And Teigen is far from alone - Hayden Panettiere, mama of Kaya Evodokia, voluntarily sought treatment for her postpartum depression at a professional facility, and other celebrity moms have been open about their struggles.

No new mom should suffer in silence, and these 16 celebrities have been open about their own experiences in an attempt to remove the stigma of a very real illness.

Tired of Predictable Pink Clothes, This Little Girl Wrote Gap a Letter

Alice Jacob is a 5-year-old girl who likes sports, superheroes, and cars - among other things. While shopping, however, she couldn't help but notice how all of the clothes that pertained to her interests were limited to the section for little boys. Meanwhile, all of the girls' clothing she found was stereotypically girlie.

So, what did Alice do next? She wrote a letter to Gap Inc. asking them for more options. According to The Washington Post, Alice wanted to ask Gap to consider selling clothes that both related to her interests and would still fit her petite figure.

Read her letter in its entirety below.

"My name is Alice Jacob and I am almost 5 and a half years old. I like cool shirts like Superman and Batman shirts and race car shirts, too. All your girl shirts are pink and princesses and stuff like that. The boys shirts are really cool. They have Superman, Batman, rock-and-roll and sports. What about girls who like those things like me and my friend Olivia?

Can you make some cool girls' shirts please? Or, can you make a no boys' or girls' section - only a kids' section?"

The Washington Post has since sent Alice's important letter to the clothing company and they are currently awaiting a response.

The Topic of Who Dresses Melania Trump Is More Complicated Than Ever

If you're looking for a unified response from designers on dressing Melania Trump, there isn't one. The "will they or won't they" debate has deeply divided the fashion community since she became first lady, and the conversation isn't ending anytime soon. Just recently, Zac Posen voiced his opposition to dressing Melania. While many designers would side with Zac, there are just as many who wouldn't; Tommy Hilfiger and Carolina Herrera both said they would dress her. It's a controversial topic, because while Melania is the first lady and a representative for the United States, her husband's policies haven't exactly won favor with the fashion crowd.

In fact, many designers took New York Fashion Week as an opportunity to voice their concerns and opposition to the president. Designers, like everyone else, are grappling with how the Trump administration will affect their own lives. Given how intertwined fashion and politics have become, we expect more designers to speak out on dressing Melania. Read on to see who has already picked sides.

Kerry Washington Wants to Put This Ingredient in Every Beauty Product

It's a sunny Wednesday in Los Angeles. Editors and influencers are slowly trickling into the Penthouse Suite at The London Hotel to meet the woman who plays one of Shonda Rhimes's most powerful characters to date: Olivia Pope herself, Kerry Washington. The actress, producer, new mom, and relatively new wife - her words - has been working with Neutrogena as a creative consultant and brand ambassador for the past four years, and today she's introducing new additions to the hydrating skin care line Hydro Boost.

Sitting alongside her on the couch, Kerry appears friendly and unguarded. Nobody is looking over our shoulder - a rarity for celebrity interviews. We have the large room almost to ourselves, as the rest of her team is taking care of finishing touches for the event.

I compliment her, because how could you not? She's stunning, the perfect walking advertisement for gorgeous, glowing skin. She returns the compliment, a gesture that feels genuine enough to have come from one of my best girlfriends. She notices my gold-plated heart necklace, which I mention is inscription-free.

"You should get something that inspires you on it, like 'peace' or 'calm,'" Kerry says warmly. Fittingly, that's exactly how I feel during the interview. No rush, no tip-toeing around certain subjects. She's open, ready to chat, and in control, much like the character she plays on Thursday nights.

We start off with beauty tips, of course. What is the best skin care tip she's learned in the past year?

"Honestly, that you can put hyaluronic acid in anything!" she says, laughing. "Really, I've been so pleased." Kerry is referring to the Hydro Boost collection. She consulted on the products, which are infused with hyaluronic acid, and is a particularly big fan of the water gel.

"I've given it to all the girls on the show," she admits. "I'm obsessed with it. To be able to put [hyaluronic acid] in more products across the board, particularly the concealer, the hydrating tint, the lip products. Even products down the road." She stops. "Am I able to talk about future products?" (She looks to a publicist for approval, getting the OK.) "Like mascara, because hyaluronic acid plumps the lashes as well. I'm excited to be combining it into everything. I'm nursing right now - hydration is everything."

I ask if she's ever learned a skin care or beauty lesson the hard way, expecting for her to divulge a terrifying treatment or a crazy Hollywood facial that left her feeling like snake shedding its skin. She has a simpler option to share.

"I would just say, as you grow up, as you walk through life, you can't always control the changes," she says. "For me, I've had to really be in tune to not take my skin for granted. I feel like I can get into a plateau of doing the same thing, same products all the time. Then I shoot something in another city - like I shot Confirmation in Atlanta - and the weather there is totally different. So [my] skin there [was] totally different. Or, when I was pregnant, nursing, just getting older, or being somewhere where it's colder like New York. It's really important that I listen to my skin."

I know we are are a skin care event, but it would be remiss to not ask the woman who plays Olivia Pope more thoughtful questions. So, what makes Kerry feel strong? "What makes me feel strong is remembering who I am. That I don't have to be anybody other than who I am," she says with a dignity that feels very much like Olivia. "That I have everything I need to be who I'm supposed to be in life. It makes me feel strong to be accepting of myself."

Now onto politics. This could have gone poorly with other celebrities - I might have been removed from the interview in some instances, given politics can be a barred subject. But the subject isn't out of left field for Kerry, considering the show she's on. She's vocal on Twitter about a variety of causes and isn't afraid to speak out, even when she's heard plenty of times this year that celebrities should stick to "what they know." As a woman on a political drama, why is it important that her voice is heard?

"I wouldn't equate it with being on a political drama, cause I think our show - although our show used to seem a lot crazier, now that the political world is really giving us a run for our money," she says. "But the fact that we are lucky enough to live in a democracy, where our vote and our voice really matters, is why we have to participate."

She goes on. "Democracy doesn't work unless we participate. Participating means more than just voting. It's what we're seeing now: people going to town halls, and making phone calls, and sending post cards, and writing letters to your representatives to let them know - to remind them that they work for us. And the only way they can really work for us is if we remind them about the things we care about, and we show up, especially on voting days."

Kerry is focused on getting people to be an active part of democracy this year. Only about 55 percent of eligible voters participated in the 2016 election, the lowest showing since 1996. "I really think participation in the process is the cause that's really important to me now. I'm sad that over half of our country didn't vote in the last election," she says. "It only works as 'We the People' if 'We the People' all have a seat at the table. If some of us silence ourselves by not showing up, or some of us allow ourselves to be silenced by voting rights laws that limit participation, then we're not able to really have our government represent who we are as a country."

We finish up our chat with a few questions about fashion. "I remember the very first designer to ever lend to me was Giorgio Armani," she says. "But I have no idea what it was for. So clearly you know where my priorities are: all fashion, all the time."

And then it's on to Deadpool 2 speculation. "I was like 'Whaaat?'" she says. "I have no comment on that. You can't believe everything you read. No news there."

As I get up to leave, I thank her for her time and the comfort level she offered.

"I can't wait to see what you put on your heart next time I see you!" she says.

What Can Happen If Kids Don't Stop Sucking Their Thumbs

For many parents, it's a familiar sight: their little ones self-soothing by sucking their thumbs or fingers. Although most assume this is a temporary habit that they will outgrow (hopefully before any orthodontic damage is done), that isn't always the case.

Some parents try to break their child's habit if they don't outgrow it by the time they start school by painting their nails with a foul-tasting polish or through punishment. However, getting kids to stop can be a difficult task. Clinical psychologist Helen Nightingale told the Daily Mail that prolonged thumb-sucking can happen automatically because of familial causes. "It's often passed down in families,' she said. "It's highly self-soothing and, as such, it is very resistant to change."

For some babies, this ingrained habit is the first reflex that they learn and is the same reflex used for breastfeeding. Sandra Trebinski, who specializes in hypnotherapy, believes that this behavior continues past childhood because of the emotional comfort it provides during stressful times as well as the attention that it brings.

Through her work at the Hypnotherapy Centre in England, she sees an estimated 200 to 300 cases of adults who suck their thumbs per month, despite wanting to stop. (According to a recent study conducted by Babychild.org.uk, 12 percent of adults still suck their thumbs!) "While most children drop the habit naturally, those who continue will often receive parental criticism which, while negative, is still attention and works to get them noticed," Sandra told the Daily Mail. "The longer that the habit continues, the more it becomes ingrained in the subconscious and becomes an anchor activity that induces a relaxed state of mind."

Aside from the emotional distress that thumb-sucking in teenage and adult years can cause, like the feelings of shame and secrecy, it can also create physical damage. "Persistent thumb-sucking can reshape the mouth. Before the age of 6, it's fine, as your adult teeth haven't come in, but once they do, the problems can start," said Dr. Neil Counihan, an orthodontist who established the United Kingdom's first thumb-sucking clinic. "You can try physical barriers such as thumb guards, but ultimately you have to want to stop."

What's Better: HIIT or LISS?

The following post was originally featured on Fit Bottomed Girls and written by Alison, a contributor for Jenn, who is part of POPSUGAR Collective.

Boy, do I love me some cardio. And you should, too. Think about it: of all the muscles in your body, not one is as important as your heart. It's the only muscle that never gets to stop contracting . . . well, at least not if you wanna stay alive.

It's a pretty well-known fact that heart disease is the leading cause of death in this country. According to the surgeon general, you should be getting 150 minutes per week of moderate exercise (like brisk walking or bicycling) or 75 minutes per week of more vigorous exercise (like running or group fitness classes), or some equivalent mix of both.

For years, the debate over whether HIIT (high intensity interval training) or LISS (lower intensity steady state) is better has raged on. When asked, I always say it depends on what your goals are. If your goal is to build a powerhouse of a heart, then listen up: I'm about to break it down for you - strictly in terms of heart health.

What You Need to Know About HIIT

HIIT workouts, also known as interval training or metabolic conditioning, involve short bouts of high intensity (hard) work followed by a period of rest. HIIT is mostly anaerobic, which means that during exercise, your body is fueled primarily by stored carbohydrates rather than relying exclusively on oxygen. By doing HIIT exclusively as your cardio work, you might believe that your heart is fitter than it actually is, because when you venture outside of the aerobic (oxygen-fueled) zone, you're not actually getting the full cardiovascular benefits.

Additionally, due to the intensity, a HIIT-only diet can actually strain your cardiovascular system and stress your heart out. Too much HIIT can also negatively affect your nervous system and trigger symptoms that look and feel like anxiety - elevated heart rate, sleep disturbances, lack of focus, agitation and restlessness - all of which just continue to stress your heart out.

The Benefits of LISS

LISS is a term used to describe an activity that's performed at a consistent, steady effort for an extended period of time. The intensity is lower and that's what allows you to maintain the activity for longer without the need for rest in the middle of the workout.

Since LISS keeps your heart rate in the aerobic zone, it's fabulous for conditioning your heart and improving blood pressure and circulation. Because of this, LISS causes your resting heart rate to decrease - a signal that your heart doesn't have to work so hard just to pump blood to the rest of your body and keep you alive.

LISS is much easier on the body so it's excellent for beginners and can be done more frequently than HIIT without stressing out your ticker more than it's able to bounce back from. The point of LISS is to place just enough strain on your heart to make it have to adapt and get stronger, but not so much that it freaks your heart out.

The Verdict

HIIT and steady state cardio are both great ways to get fit. In a perfect world, you'd include a little of both, but if you could only pick one and your goal was purely heart health, I'd suggest LISS. While HIIT certainly has its pros - shorter workouts and awesome metabolism-boosting effects - when it comes to heart health, nothing beats the aerobic benefits of LISS.

Now, I know that LISS isn't nearly as glamorous as HIIT, but if you needed another reason to include a little more LISS in your life, here you go: in order to do HIIT, your ticker has to be strong enough to recover between high-intensity bouts . . . this is a function of your aerobic system. In other words, by doing LISS you strengthen your heart in ways that will ultimately improve your performance during your HIIT workouts, because those hard efforts rely heavily on your aerobic system to get your heart rate back down during rest intervals.

Hayden Panettiere's Hilarious Reaction to Her Toddler Peeing on a Plane Floor

Hayden Panettiere is learning the hard way that potty-training a toddler is a little slice of hell on earth, but luckily she's taking us all on the hilarious ride through social media. While in the trenches cleaning her 2-year-old daughter's pee off of an airplane bathroom floor, Panettiere stopped to share a hysterical photo of her and Kaya on Twitter.

"Aaaand then your daughter pees on the floor of the airplane bathroom," Panettiere captioned her tweet. "But look at that baby girl helping momma clean."

The Nashville star, who opened up in 2016 about her struggle with postpartum depression, has us completely cracking up with her universal "what the hell did I get myself into" expression. Ah, toddlers - you can't help but laugh at them, even when they're peeing everywhere but the toilet.

This Vampire Diaries Finale Moment Makes Us Think This Couple Has a Future

Warning: major spoilers about the Vampire Diaries series finale ahead.

The Vampire Diaries' finale offered a lot of resolution, but it also left a few doors open for the future. After Stefan's tragic death, Alaric and Caroline decide to open a Salvatore boarding school for supernatural children like her own. And guess who just happens to make a very generous $3 million donation? Why, none other than Caroline's former love, Klaus. In his letter he writes, "Dear Caroline, I have often imagined the paths your life might take, but your chosen future is more noble than I ever fathomed. Please accept this contribution to your virtuous cause. I do look forward to thanking you in person, someday. However long it takes. Yours, Klaus." Please note the "however long it takes." Although it wasn't exactly the Klaroline reunion we were hoping for, it does offer a wide range of possibilities for the future.

During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that ran just after the finale, cocreator Julie Plec said that she already has an idea for a second spinoff - the first being The Originals, of course. "Obviously our timelines did not match up, so Caroline and Klaus are not coming face to face in this season," she said. "That being said, we do have crossover elements in the upcoming season of The Originals that's about to start airing and it all brings it back to what I see as a future for either The Originals or another piece of the franchise to launch off of the end of The Originals. So I look forward to being able to play around in that sandbox and see if I can make something of it."

While Matthew Davis, who plays Alaric, is already set to make an appearance on The Originals this coming season, that doesn't necessarily mean Candice King, who plays Caroline, will join him. As for season five, though? That could be a possibility. "This will be a decision we make in the May scheduling," CW President Mark Pedowitz said about uniting the two shows. "But I hope to be able to announce at the May upfront that it's returning." But before anything comes to fruition, Plec admitted that she's going to take a much-needed vacation. "And then when I come back on the other side of that I'm going to go back to work." After all this time, it looks like Klaus might actually be Caroline's last love.

Princess Diana's Former Lover Addresses Prince Harry Paternity Rumors

Princess Diana has been gone for almost 20 years, but she's still the topic of (somewhat scandalous) conversation. In an exclusive interview with Australia's Sunday Night that aired this week, the late princess's former lover James Hewitt was asked point-blank about a pesky rumor that has been circulating since the '80s - that he, not Prince Charles, is the biological father of Prince Harry. "No, I'm not," James replied matter-of-factly when asked "Are you Harry's father?" "It sells papers," he said of the longtime rumors, adding, "It's worse for [Harry] probably, poor chap."

James and Diana carried on an affair during the late '80s, but had to end things when James was deployed to serve in the Gulf War (and their relationship became exposed to British press). At the same time, it was reported that Prince Charles was secretly dating his now-wife Camilla Parker-Bowles. Rumors that James is Harry's father sprouted up after folks noticed a resemblance between the two, but it's worth keeping in mind that he and Diana didn't even meet until 1986 - two years after Harry was born - when he was hired to teach Diana, William, and Harry horseback riding.

What You Should Be Eating If You Want to Lose Weight

As we age and our metabolisms slow, it's easy to pack on a few pounds without realizing it. But a new study has found that making consistent changes to your eating habits can lead to big weight-loss results over time.

The study, published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, followed the dietary habits of over 120,000 people for 16 years and found that those who ate foods that had a high glycemic load (which includes refined grains, starches, and sugars) gained more weight than those who ate foods with a low glycemic load (foods such as nuts, dairy, and certain fruits and vegetables). This isn't surprising or new; other research has shown that going lower on the glycemic index (GI) scale will help you lose weight. What is interesting in the new study, however, is that other key habits can mean the difference between pounds on the scale. Check out what else the researchers found about weight gain and loss:

  • Those who ate more yogurt, seafood, skinless chicken, and nuts lost the most weight; in fact, the more people ate of these foods, the less weight they gained.
  • The researchers found, however, no difference in weight gain in those who ate low-fat vs full-fat dairy.
  • Diets with more red and processed meat intake were associated with weight gain, especially when meat was paired with refined grains or starches.
  • Eating meat paired with low-GI foods, however (like vegetables), helped reduce weight gain.
  • Eating foods like eggs and cheese along with high-GI foods was linked to weight gain, while eating these foods with low-GI foods led to weight loss.

In general, the researchers found that the best diets for weight loss were high in protein-rich foods like fish, nuts, and yogurt, which helped prevent weight gain. Avoiding refined grains, starches, and sugars further helped, as did replacing red meat consumption with other protein-rich foods like eggs and cheese. It may seem like common sense, but taking the time to fill your plate with lean proteins and vegetables and other low-GI foods will help you lose or maintain weight throughout the years. Brace Yourself For the Best Possible (Crunchy!) Upgrade to Reese's Cups

A Reese's stuffed with cookies sounds too good to be true, but rest assured, Reese's Crunchy Cookie Cups are 100 percent real. While the new candy isn't hitting store shelves until May, we got an early taste and can guarantee it's worth marking your calendars for. Just as the packaging promises, the cookie-stuffed Reese's are filled with tons of crunchy chocolate cookie pieces, which are reminiscent of the chocolate bits in Hershey's Cookies 'n' Creme Bars. Sort of like a combination of a chocolate chip and a cocoa cookie, the tiny, crunchy bits provide the perfect textural contrast to the otherwise soft Reese's cup. If we're being honest, we like these even more than Reese's stuffed with Reese's Pieces, which is saying a lot.

Reese's Crunchy Cookie Cups are available in a two-cup size ($1) and king two-cup Big Cup size ($2), and they just might replace your love of regular Reese's. While there are plenty of other contenders for the best new candy of 2017 so far, this one undoubtedly tops the list.

Emma Watson's Belle Dress Is Going to Be Different, but in a Good Way

We all patiently waited for it: the reveal of Emma Watson's Belle dress in Beauty and the Beast. Judging from the photos, the yellow princess ball gown is better than we imagined. Made with silk, the dress has a satin finish that glows for the camera while the layers of organza give the dress a light, bouncy lift. Though parts of the costume has a cage, one specific constricting piece was left out of the new design.

Beauty and the Beast's costume designer Jacqueline Durran revealed in an interview that Belle's dress in the live-action film would not have a corset, a change Emma pushed for herself.

"For Emma, it was important that the dress was light and that it had a lot of movement," Durran said. "In Emma's reinterpretation, Belle is an active princess. She did not want a dress that was corseted or that would impede her in any way."

Given that the actress is a proud feminist and supporter of HeForShe, it's not surprising she spoke up and did away with a tight-fitting bodice in the name of comfort. Scroll through for a glimpse of Belle's updated gown and other outfits, then check out Emma's green red carpet choices on the press tour.

5 Proven Ways to Occupy an Attention-Hungry Pup and Toddler

So much has changed since I went from being a dog mom to a human mom: after I got through the initial newborn boot camp and figured out how to make my 5-year-old Chocolate Lab, Gus, feel more comfortable around my son, Noah, there was a brief period of peace when they would happily sit side by side (perfect Instagram posing).

And then - as with all little ones - things changed! My sweet baby became an adorable but needy toddler and began demanding more of my attention. Gus, in typical monkey-see, monkey-do behavior, did the same.

Don't get me wrong - when I come home from work and they both literally run to greet me at the door, it's the best feeling in the world. But most nights I find myself frustrated with Gus, who doesn't understand that I only get a precious hour with Noah before he goes to bed (then it's all snuggles on the couch with him for the rest of the evening). When I sit down to build a block tower with Noah, Gus will plop himself in between us. Or if he feels I'm not paying enough attention to him - which is most of the time - he will sit and stare and whine at me.

Experiencing yet another hallmark of motherhood (guilt!), I reached out to trainer Rachel Maso of Brooklyn Dogtime for some advice on how I can simultaneously keep my pup and tot happily occupied.

Read through for five of her best tips.

1. Tire them out

If this isn't a golden rule for toddlers and dogs, I don't know what is. I go for a walk with both of them every morning in Central Park, where they can run around to their little hearts' delight. Gus gets walked during the day and at least once more at night, but he still needs more - did I mention he's a Lab? Per Maso's advice to sneak in some extra exercise, my new thing is to have them "race" back and forth in our hallway when I get home (hopefully our neighbors don't mind this few minutes of noise a day!).

2. Make food a game

It already is for Noah, who thinks throwing food is so much fun these days. Although Gus definitely reaps the benefits (who needs a vacuum cleaner with a dog?!), Maso says I should make mealtime more of a game for Gus too. She suggested putting his food in a puzzle toy or splitting it up and giving him the second half in a Kong toy when I get home. I give him fresh-cooked food called Ollie, from the company I work for, so he's always super excited to eat it, whether it's in his bowl or not.

3. Ignore the whining

Once again, the toddler and dog similarities are striking: don't respond to behavior you don't want to encourage! "Dogs repeat what works, so if whining in your face or getting between you and your baby gets him some attention, even negative attention, it's guaranteed to become a regular habit," explains Maso, who advises me to ignore Gus when he whines. And before he has a chance to get in between me and Noah, I should give him another rewarding activity to do, like chewing on a toy. "He has to learn that he only gets to be with you if he can relax," she says.

4. Find some downtime

If you're reading this, you probably know that toddlers aren't exactly known for being calm - there are a lot of high-pitched noises and flailing limbs happening most of the time. "Frantic energy can be overwhelming for a dog, even if he always seems to want to be in the middle of the action," says Maso, who suggests carving out some quiet space for Gus. "If things are too wild, have your pup hang behind a gate with a toy so he'll still be part of the action without being underfoot." This is admittedly a challenge in a small NYC apartment, but we do conveniently have baby gates, so I can keep him in the kitchen and within view while Noah and I play in his room.

5. Train them together

This has by far been my favorite tip! Maso recommended playing "inclusive cotraining games to teach your child and dog to interact safely." For about five minutes in the morning and at night, I've been practicing simple cues with Noah and Gus: I give my son a healthy snack like blueberries - also great for dogs! - and have him say "sit" and "down" to Gus, then reward him. I have to also say the cues, but they're both so engrossed, it's been the best way to keep them simultaneously occupied. "In time, Gus will learn to respond to Noah's voice, building their relationship and making him less focused on you," she says. Treats for everyone!

Here's the Pink and Sia Collaboration You Never Knew You Needed

Pink and Sia are two artists with incredible voices and stage presence, and their new collaboration "Waterfall" is the duet we didn't know we needed in our lives. It's an up-tempo jam that also serves as the debut credited single for Norwegian production duo Stargate, who have crafted multiple hits for Rihanna including "What's My Name," "Don't Stop the Music," and "S&M." While Sia has written numerous songs for other artists, this is the first time she's worked with Pink in an official capacity - and we hope there's more to come.
