Admirably Petty Grandma Pastes Leonardo DiCaprio's Face Onto Photos of Late Husband
What would you do if your husband of many years (who you weren't particularly fond of) passed away, and you were left with a bunch of old photos of the two of you together? If your answer is "cut out photos of Leonardo DiCaprio and paste them all over my late husband's face," then we have someone you should meet. On Sunday, Reddit user Greentechbuilder posted the above photo on Reddit, writing, "My friends Grandma's house. She put a magazine cut out of Leonardo DiCaprio over her late (not so nice) husband's face. The 80+ year old's version of photoshop." Savage? Maybe, but in our humble opinion this kind of pettiness should be admired. At the moment Leo is dating Victoria's Secret model Nina Agdal, but here's hoping he gives this hilarious, artistic grandma a call.
MAC Is Launching 5 New Lip Kits That Will Totally Pop on Brown Skin
When MAC Cosmetics launched lip kits, we collectively lost our sh*t. The brand gave Kylie Jenner some tough competition with the release of seven duos of its bestselling bullets and lip liners. Now we have to make more room in our beauty collection, because MAC is adding five more hues to its lip kit lineup - and they are perfect for all the grunge goddesses out there.
Unlike the first round of pale nudes and pinkish mauves, MAC's new set of lip kits is all about achieving a sexy, vampy pout. The range includes some of our favorite edgy colors, including Film Noir and Sin, along with coordinating lip liners like Chestnut and Nightmoth. With each of the new shades, you can create custom takes on burgundy, vino, and purple-toned pouts.
Ladies of all complexions can get in on the grungy vibes of these kits, but we especially love that these are an exceptionally flattering match for brown girls. We are also excited that MAC is diversifying its duos for people who simply prefer to rock edgier lipstick.
You can snag the new kits in store and online from March 23 through March 27 at maccosmetics.com for $29, but given the popularity of the previous launches, we suggest you act fast. In the meantime, get a closer look at each lip set ahead to see which one(s) you'll be adding to your cart.
The Best Way to Scramble Eggs, According to Anthony Bourdain
When it comes to the best way to scramble eggs, chefs tend to disagree. And one chef who embraces an entirely back-to-basics, no-frills approach is Anthony Bourdain. Bourdain describes his perfect scrambled egg in a video and makes it clear there's one thing you should never add to to the equation: dairy. "I just don't feel that milk or cream adds anything. I believe that a scrambled egg is principally about the egg," the chef says in the video. "You're not making a quiche here," he says. In his Appetites cookbook, which is filled with recipes that Bourdain thinks everyone should know how to cook, he describes his go-to method of scrambling eggs. Ready for it?
Start with fresh eggs, and get a hot - but not too hot - pan going. Crack the eggs on a flat surface before dropping them into a bowl to prevent any shells from sneaking in. Beat them with a fork, but don't overbeat them; you want to have a ripple of white and yellow instead of an entirely yellow mixture. Drop plenty of whole butter into the hot pan until it's foaming, followed by the beaten eggs. Allow the eggs to form a little bit before beginning to gently move them around in a "figure-eight pattern," as Anthony describes. The final product should be fluffy, airy, and rippled.
So there you have it. Unlike Alton Brown, who scrambles his eggs with whole milk, or Chrissy Teigen, who makes "cheesy" cheeseless scrambled eggs with heavy cream, or Paula Deen, who claims adding water lightens them up, Anthony Bourdain omits any of these additions for a basic, buttery egg.
Here's What Rihanna Eats, According to Her Personal Chef
Have you ever wondered what pop stars eat and who actually cooks for them? Bon Appétit recently interviewed Debbie Solomon, personal chef of Rihanna, and asked her everything from how she landed the job to the diverse foods she makes for the pop star. The Jamaican-born chef cooks for the singer on tour, at home, for parties, and for everything in between. Chef Solomon said Rihanna is "a moody eater" and craves specific foods every day, so she doesn't plan weekly menus and cooks on the fly. Rihanna eats "every protein that you can think of" along with "vegetables, rice, and pasta." Though you'd think Rihanna might eat rabbit food, the dishes Solomon has prepared for her look otherwise! "There shouldn't be shame in eating food . . . I won't waste my calories on bullsh*t," Solomon told Bon Appétit. Read the full, intriguing interview, and take a look at these mouthwatering dishes Solomon has prepared for Rihanna!
9 White Button-Downs That Are Anything But Boring
Crisp, clean, and classic are just some of the adjectives people use when describing a white button-down shirt. When it comes to wardrobe essentials, a white button-down is always somewhere towards the top of the list, right next to the little black dress and a tailored blazer. A button-down is one of the most versatile pieces of clothing you can own because it's easy to dress up or down.
But not all button-downs have to look the same. There are so many variations of the classic silhouette, each one completely different than the next. Whoever thinks white button-downs are solely reserved for the office obviously hasn't seen the trendy options below. From off-the-shoulder silhouettes to bell sleeves, these nine white button-downs feature the freshest details.
This Wedding Cake Combines Our Favorite Unicorn Desserts in 1 Magical Masterpiece
By now, we've basically lost track of all the glorious unicorn-themed desserts that have graced our social media feeds, from macarons and doughnuts to cake pops and chocolate bark. But why choose between them when you can combine all of these sweet treats into one larger-than-life edible masterpiece? Well, that's what one baker just did, and her creation is breaking the internet with its majesticness.
Reshmi Bennett is the renowned genius behind the Unicorn Croquembouche Wedding Cake, a fantastical work of art comprised of more pastel goodies than we can even count. Whereas normal croquembouches are typically made of pastry balls assembled into a cone-like shape and drizzled with caramel, Reshmi's one-of-a-kind version is a lot more involved.
Layers of chocolate and vanilla sponges are frosted with buttercream and chocolate glaze to comprise the base of this towering creation. And then comes an impressive slew of toppings, including eclairs, doughnuts, macarons, piped buttercream flowers, chocolate pearls, candied popcorn, and OH MY GOSH, I do not have a pulse anymore. The croquembouche is topped with a cone to resemble a unicorn horn, of course. Does it get any more perfect than this? Seriously, if you find out, let me know.
Every treat on this epic dessert is made from scratch, which explains why it takes three long days to make (and why it costs $1,020!). Unfortunately, Reshmi works for a family-run online bakery in London called Anges de Sucre, which only delivers its goodies within the UK (*insert excessive weeping here*). It looks like I'll be having a destination wedding in London!
Read on to drool over this picturesque beauty, and you'll be convinced that a unicorn wedding is the only way to go.

You Have to See What Jennifer Lopez Wore to the Selena Premiere in 1997
On March 13, 1997, Jennifer Lopez and the cast of Selena made their way down the red carpet for the premiere of the movie. It's hard to believe it's been 20 years since the movie hit theaters, specially because J Lo looks exactly the same - she's aging in reverse!
But one look at the pictures and you'll see it was definitely the '90s. Jennifer was a fresh faced actress just married to Ojani Noa, wearing a sparkly white dress, faux fur blue stole and, wait for it, platform sandals! Yep. Scroll ahead to check out more photos of her look and cute moments with her cast and Ojani on the red carpet.
The Backstreet Boys' Evolution Is Truly Larger Than Life
It's hard to believe that the Backstreet Boys have been together for more than 20 years! The group - AJ McLean, Howie Dorough, Nick Carter, Kevin Richardson, and Brian Littrell - first formed in Orlando in 1993 and has been make our hearts swoon ever since. Over the past two decades, the boy band has faced many changes (including Kevin's departure from 2006-2012), but they have also proven how timeless they really are. From a plethora catchy tunes to their out-of-this-world concerts, it's clear to see why the Backstreet Boys are one of the best boy bands around. See their larger than life evolution here.
14 Springtime Flats That Are Simply Irresistible
Although I wear flats year round - yes, even in Winter - springtime styles remain my favorite. When you peruse the selection of flats ahead, I think you'll agree. Whether it be a slip-on or slingback style, these bold options will take you through the rest of the season.

The Completely Addictive Method of Cooking Broccoli and Cauliflower
It won't be a challenge to eat your veggies if you try this easy technique for roasting cauliflower and broccoli. For months, a few women in our office have been praising roasted cruciferous veggies. I'm already a huge fan of baked kale chips, roasted brussels sprouts, and oven-crisped cabbage, so I'm not sure why it took me so long to try out roasted cauliflower and broccoli. Now that I have, I'm never going back to the steamed stuff. The oven morphed the little veggie trees into crisp nuggets that could almost pass for chips. They are addictive . . . don't be surprised if those around you fight for the last bites!
Here's what you'll do:
- Cut the broccoli and cauliflower into equally sized pieces.
- Spread across a rimmed sheet tray, leaving space between each floret. Drizzle olive oil across the veggies and salt and pepper to taste.
- Roast in a 400°F oven for 18-23 minutes, or until crispy to your liking.
You Can DIY the Badass Neon Eyeliner Trend With Just 2 Products
If pastel unicorn makeup isn't really your style, then you're likely grateful for the edgy and electric neon liner trend. It looks just like a piece of neon artwork and adds a gritty glow to any standard eye. However, for the past few weeks, we've been curious as to how to DIY it ourselves.
It appears quite complex to re-create, but thankfully Reddit user tbhbbidgaf shared the above image in a post to the MakeupAddiction subreddit, where she shared her technique and revealed that it's actually quite simple.
"I do the black smokey eye first then draw a white line above my crease," she explained. She then goes over that white line with shadow in the neon shade of her choice, then refines the white stripe. "Repeat steps until you're happy with how it glows," she added. She used Graftobian Clown White Paint ($4) to make her electric eye pop.
After you've picked your jaw up from off the floor, stay tuned! This makeup artist plans to create a tutorial for the majestic look so it's even easier for fans to DIY. We'll be waiting for this with bated breath.
The 1 Product Dermatologists Swear By
Come Winter, you better believe that dermatologist offices become flooded with garden-variety concerns, ranging from itchy, red skin to dry, cracked lips. Curious to learn what advice these skincare specialists dole out to their patients - and what products they recommend - we reached out to New York City board-certified dermatologist Dr. Rosemarie Ingleton. An expert in the general and cosmetic dermatology space, she has heard her fair share of dry-skin woes, which routinely peak during the cold-weather months.
"At this time of year people come with complaints related to dry skin and eczema," Dr. Ingleton said. "Dry skin always has to be addressed, though. Even in Spring and Fall, there is always some level of dry skin people have to counter." To soothe her patients, Dr. Ingleton starts by learning about her patients' skin habits. She'll ask about shower frequency, type of product being used in the shower, the temperature of the water (water that's too hot can dehydrate the skin), and what they do afterward for hydration. "There's a large subset of the population that does not use anything after they shower. They just shower and they are gone."
Once she does that, she makes a surprisingly affordable recommendation.
"[For] people who have cracked skin or have dry skin, I recommend getting the skin damp and then applying Aquaphor® as a layer of hydration. I do this for my superdry patients," she explained. "The hands and feet do really well with it."
Dr. Ingleton trusts Aquaphor® Healing Ointment because it's simple and versatile. "The reason I recommend it is because there's no fragrance, which is great because that's the number one allergen. It's also multifaceted and can be used for a number of conditions."
But dermatologists are not the only ones reaching for this product. POPSUGAR Beauty editors are as well. We tapped them to see how they felt about using the product. Lauren Levinson, senior editor, Beauty said, "I love to use it on my lips. The fact that it is not scented and soothing makes it a bag staple. It's the best for flights since you can really put it anywhere!" Joanna Douglas, our Native editorial director also relies on the multi-tasking qualities of this tube. "I use Aquaphor on a regular basis but truly count on it in the Winter when my skin is in rough shape," she said. "If I have a bad cold I'll put some around my nostrils and Cupid's bow area before bed. When I wake up, my irritation is magically gone. It's also my savior for chapped lips, dry cuticles, even scaly elbows."

Meryl Streep's Marriage Has Lasted as Long as Her Career
Meryl Streep knows a thing or two about long-term success, and her marriage is no exception. She and sculptor Don Gummer have been married since 1978, and he's been by her side at a number of industry events and award shows in the years since. Meryl may have been mentioned more than God in Oscars acceptance speeches over the last decade, but at the 2012 Academy Awards, it was her husband who received a sweet shout-out. When Meryl won best actress for The Iron Lady, she said, "First I'm going to thank Don because when you thank your husband at the end of the speech they play him out with the music, and I want him to know that everything I value most in our lives you've given me."
The pair first met after her partner John Cazale - of The Godfather and The Deer Hunter - died of bone cancer. She was invited to move into the vacant apartment of her brother's friend Don, who was traveling abroad, and when Don returned, she ended up staying, and they were married within six months. The couple now have four kids together, including one son and Meryl's three look-alike daughters. Look back at the pair's sweet relationship through the years.

Our Guinea Pig Died and as Weird as It Sounds, My 6-Year Old Did This
Warning: The topic and images below might be difficult or disturbing to some, especially those mourning the death of a loved one.
My daughter has definitely inherited my love for all living creatures. A 6-year old self-proclaimed vegetarian, she tells people, "I don't want to hurt animals." And once, when picking her up from preschool, the teacher was a little nervous to tell me that Sadie found a dead snake on the playground and made a nest for it in a bucket, carried it around for an entire hour, and then made a sweet little burial ground for it, surrounded in stones and dandelions. Yep, sounds about right. That's my Sadie.
So when we went downstairs to feed our three guinea pigs, and I was the first to notice that Daisy had passed away, I knew Sadie would be as devastated as I was. I turned to her, voice crackly, my eyes welled up with tears and said, "Oh sweetie, I'm so sorry. Daisy has died."
Her reaction surprised me a little. No tears, no sadness. In a cheery voice, she said, "I want to hold her." I repeated myself because I felt like she didn't understand, "She isn't alive anymore. She died." But Sadie insisted, so I picked up her stiff body, and Sadie scooped her up in her arms, hugged her tight, and I just burst into tears at the sweet love she had for her.
I followed as Sadie carried her to the kitchen, grabbed a towel, and gently wrapped her in it, like a mother would do with her baby. It was really sweet. Daisy almost looked alive, with Sadie holding her. And Sadie carried her around FOR HOURS. She didn't want to let her go. It's what she wanted to do and what felt right to her as a way to remember Daisy's sweet body close to hers.
Even our dog, Reuben, was sad and wanted to give her kisses, but Sadie was the one who had the special connection with Daisy. My 4-year-old Devon asked, "Is she breathing?" and Sadie answered, "No, she took her last breath," so that made me feel better, that she kind of understood. Devon bent down, stroked Daisy's back and whispered, "I'll always love you, even though I'll never see you again." And . . . more crying from me.
It was hard enough that my husband was away on a business trip and missing all of this, but what made it worse was realizing that we had just gotten two feet of snow in the middle of March. There was no way we could bury Daisy next to our other guinea pig, Beep, and my bunny, Bean. Someone suggested we have Daisy cremated and the ashes put in a locket for Sadie to wear, but both kiddos thought that was the most horrible thing ever.
"I really want to bury her," Sadie said. So a vet friend suggested what they do at her office. To wrap Daisy up and put her in the freezer, so in a couple months, when the ground thaws, and the Spring flowers are blooming, we can have a proper burial. It seemed a little unsettling, to know Daisy would be in our freezer for at least a month, but it also felt kind of comforting, knowing we didn't have to say our final goodbyes just yet.
Sadie liked the idea of that. So I went to get a plastic baggie to put her in but Sadie wasn't ready, she said, "No, I want to draw a picture of her." We got out our journals and each colored a picture of Daisy. Sadie carefully drew Daisy's body, then drew herself with arms outstretched holding her, and Devon drew the same.
Then we were ready. We wrapped Daisy up in a purple blanket, Sadie said, "Because she's a girl and she'd like that." Sadie made a little card that said, "Daisy," and put it on the blanket inside the plastic bag, then pushed a chair over to the freezer because she wanted to put Daisy in herself. That's when I completely lost it. I just went over to my dog, hugged him tight, and cried in his fur.
The next day, Sadie told everyone at school what had happened. When she got off the bus, she pushed the chair over to the freezer and said, "I want to see her." Before I could object or warn her that Daisy would feel different, she was on the floor with Daisy on her lap, ready to open the baggie and take her out. I said, "No, sweetie!" But Sadie said, "I want to see her." And I said, "She won't look the same, you're not going to like what you see. You should just remember what she looks like in your heart." Thankfully Sadie agreed, hugged her, then put her back in the freezer.
That was it for Sadie. Still no tears, no sadness. And the next day, she didn't mention Daisy once. It actually made me feel a little better, knowing Sadie felt at peace with it all. Losing Daisy was such a hard thing because she wasn't just a guinea pig. She was part of our family, and she'll always have a special place in our hearts.
There are some great books to help kids deal with the death of a pet, but these two were especially helpful in explaining things and coping with all our feelings: Sally Goes to Heaven and I'll Always Love You. If you're going through the loss of a pet, know you're not alone, and that kids deal with death differently. Hopefully sharing our family's experience will help in some way. I know I already feel better.
Season Finale Schedule: Find Out When Your Favorite Show Is Ending
Spring can mean an influx of new shows, but it also signals the end of some of our favorites - for a few months, anyway. The CW, Fox, NBC, and FX have already announced when a few of their series will be wrapping up before Summer. Some shows won't be returning at all; we've already had to say goodbye to The Vampire Diaries for good, and there will be others. Bones and Grimm are among the shows ending in 2017. Take a look to find out when their final episodes will air, plus see the season finales for a handful of other shows as well.
No One Has Mastered the Art of the Celebrity Selfie Better Than Samuel L. Jackson
Over the course of his long career, Samuel L. Jackson has mastered a number of things. Killing bad guys? Check. Recapping Game of Thrones? Check. Killing all of the motherf*cking snakes on the motherf*cking planes? Double, triple check. On top of all that, take a look at the Kong: Skull Island actor's Instagram account and you'll soon discover that he's particularly fond of taking selfies, especially with other celebrities. Does he manage to get his entire face into every shot? OK, no, maybe not. (Help him out, Kim.) In fact it seems like he actually prefers to take photos with just the tiniest, inconspicuous sliver of his trademark glasses sticking out of the corner, while the spotlight falls on stars like Tom Hanks, James Corden, Brie Larson, and Spike Lee. Frankly, we can't get enough of his unintentionally hilarious selfie style, and we're keeping our fingers crossed for more.

You'll Go Crazy For Ed Sheeran and Bruno Mars's Duet of "The A Team"
The world can be a very scary and uncertain place at times (take all of 2017, for example), but sometimes the stars perfectly align to bless us with a beautiful gift. Case in point: Ed Sheeran and Bruno Mars's friendship. Before the two engaged in a hilarious and fake Twitter feud over the MTV VMA nominees in 2015, they were showing off their musical bond on stage. During one of Bruno's concerts in St. Louis, MO, in August 2013, he brought Ed on stage for a special duet of Ed's hit "The A Team." While Bruno stands back at first and only adds his guitar skills to the song, he then takes the mic to sing along with Ed. The crowd obviously goes wild, and after watching the video above, you will too. And if that isn't enough to satisfy your Ed and Bruno love, check out this amazing mashup of two of their hit songs.

Babies Are Living Their Best Lives Thanks to "Float" Spa Treatments
Welcome to an inside look at Baby Spa and Float Baby, your new instagram obsessions!
These insanely adorable spas (located in Australia and Texas) are dedicated to the youngest clientele. Newborns and babies up to 6 months old can enjoy some serious pampering thanks to everything from massages to hydrotherapy sessions for infants.
When the little ones are ready for a dip in the pool, they are put into special flotation devices, which are essentially tubes to keep a baby's head floating above the water. Each baby floats alone in their own tub of water (unless there is a special request for twins or friends to splash together) and are outfitted with special swim diapers.
Although the photos that come from these relaxing sessions are insanely adorable
, the time spent at these retreats can also be medically beneficial to little ones. According to Baby Spa, the sensation of floating in warm water puts a baby at ease while also promoting a variety of benefits including muscular and skeletal strength, increased digestion and lung capacity, and better coordination and reflexes. The massages encourage parent-child bonding, secure attachment, and improved sleep patterns.
Whether or not you think it's the new moms who deserve some pampering rather than their newborns, these insanely relaxed babies are way too cute to handle!
Parents Need to Check Out Gerber's New Food Recall ASAP
Gerber announced that they are voluntarily recalling specific food for toddlers due to allergy concerns.
The affected product is Cheese Ravioli Pasta Pick-Ups and the company is warning parents because the egg allergen warning is missing from the packaging. Although eggs are listed in the ingredients list, it is not included in the "contains" warning section.
Gerber is now removing the product from stores as a precaution over the packaging missing information. Parents can check for the UPC code, 159070, to know if their box of ravioli is impacted. Symptoms of an egg allergy in kids include trouble breathing, hives, flushing or swelling skin, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, itching around the mouth, runny nose, rapid heartbeat, and low blood pressure.

Girl Is Upset When Park Doesn't Have a "Disabled Swing" For Her Brother
@SouthLanCouncil my 8 year old would like to know why no disabled swing in the new bothwell road park? http://pic.twitter.com/6YXsaVnBBW
- Miriam Gwynne (@GwynneMiriam) March 19, 2017
Eight-year-old Naomi is standing up for her twin brother, Isaac, after being utterly disappointed that the new park they'd been anxiously awaiting the opening of doesn't have a "disabled swing" for Isaac to play with. In a letter addressed to the South Lanarkshire Council in Scotland, Naomi wrote to the council, "I like the new park, but please could you make a disabled swing for it?"
The young girl continues, explaining that Issac's favorite thing to do at the park is swing, but he's too big for a baby swing and can't hold onto the bars on a normal kid swing. "Why did you forget about him?" she asked in the note, featuring a sweet hand-drawn photo of what she thinks the new swing should look like.
Naomi's mother, Miriam Gwynne, told told Metro.co.uk that her and her children had been excited during the entire duration of the park's construction. They have become regulars since its opening, attending often, and Gwynne had no idea either of her kids were unhappy until she found the letter Naomi wrote all by herself. "I read her letter through tears as I suddenly realized she was right. Her brother who has severe autism, NF1, a brain tumor, and severe learning difficulties had no swing," Gwynne said. "He has no speech, but her letter spoke for them both."
Gwynne tweeted her daughter's letter to the South Lanarkshire Council and was surprised when she actually received a response. "We try to include different pieces of inclusive play equipment in each of our play areas to offer variety," a spokesperson for the council replied in a message to Gwynne on Twitter. "We have asked the designer to look into whether the existing swing frame can incorporate a disabled seat for Isaac. Thanks for letting us know about this."
Gwynne couldn't be more proud of her daughter's actions, adding, "She has autism herself so to have thought to write a letter is incredible."
@SouthLanCouncil thank you for listening to my daughter! http://pic.twitter.com/Hh2O2fedG3

Bones: Every Heartbreaking Picture From the Series Finale
Bones has been entertaining us with, well, literal bones, since 2005, but it's all about to end. Fox chose to cancel the show after a shortened twelfth season (a pretty long run, if you ask us) and the series finale is airing at 9 p.m. on Tuesday, March 28. The network has posted pictures from the finale, "The Final Chapter: The End in the End," and if you count yourself among the show's many fans, you'll no doubt get emotional at the sight of Bones (Emily Deschanel) and Booth (David Boreanaz) in one last embrace.
People Are Obsessed With How Much This Baby Girl Looks Like Ed Sheeran
Ever since Ed Sheeran gained fame in 2011 with his debut album +, a long string of lookalikes of the British singer-songwriter have come forward. Harry Potter actor Rupert Grint is one of them, as well as the young kid Ed cast in his "Castle on the Hill" music video, and another "twin" he met back in November 2012. All of them can take a seat, however, because Ed's true doppelgänger has revealed herself: 2-year-old Isla Walton.

- Tom Davies 🌐 (@1TD) March 17, 2017
On Mar. 17, Twitter user Tom Davies shared a photo of Isla, who is British like Ed, which went viral almost immediately (for obvious reasons). In an interview with The Sun, Isla's aunt, Stacey Walton, said that not only does her niece share a resemblance to the singer, but she's also a big fan of his music. "Everyone comments saying how she's a mini Ed, and I call her baby Sheeran," she said. "She loves his music, tries to sing along to the words and have a dance." We thought no one would ever be able to top Baby Danny DeVito, but we were wrong.

Gender-based violence report to address 'rape culture,' says Conservative MP
Violence against young women on university campuses, online harassment and how the justice system can do a better job at treating victims of sexual assault are all expected to feature prominently in a federal report on gender-based violence coming Monday.
14 Spring Essentials Every Minimalist Needs in Her Wardrobe
People often get this wrong, but being a minimalist doesn't mean you've got a boring taste in fashion. It just means you're a fan of clean, structured looks that require little to no fuss at all. In a way, shouldn't that appeal to everyone? The quote "less is more" is probably your style motto when you're choosing your outfit in the morning. A simple white button-down and a delicate gold chain are more your speed than a bold printed blouse paired with an extravagant necklace. It's true: sometimes you can make more of a statement without any extra bells and whistles.
Whether you're a minimalist through and through or you're looking for a couple of key pieces to appease that side of your personality, here are the 14 Spring essentials you need in your closet.

This Rowing Machine Gym Workout Is Going to Kick Your Ass
We loved the treadmill workout that Speedplay's co-founder and lead trainer Xavier Quimbo created for us - so we had to get another workout that uses the rowing machine! This workout comprises a warm up, and four exercises using the rowing machine and bodyweight, repeated for 30 minutes total. "Work your way through this list for five total rounds, and if you need to, take a one minute break after the completion of an entire cycle," said Xavier
Here's Xavier's "classic" warmup:
- 30 seconds of jumping jacks
- 30 seconds running in place
- 30 seconds butt kickers
- 30 seconds plank hold
- 1 minute break (grab a sip of water!)
And now for the workout:
Rower: 3 Minutes
The rower is undoubtedly one of the most underrated pieces of equipment at the gym. "Sometimes the best cardio comes from the machine you're not using," Xavier told POPSUGAR.
"Keep your posture tall, drive through the legs, and pull the handle to your upper abdomen, keeping your elbows in by your side and shoulders down and back," he explained. "The overall row should feel smooth and consistent during both the backward motion (called the drive) and the forward motion (called the recovery). Work for a finishing distance between 500m and 700m, and try to to beat your record each time you're back on the rower. This will get heart rate up in no time, and start your workout in an elevated state."
T-Rotation: 1 Minute
Xavier says this will "Hit your upper body, arms, and core" all in one.
- Set yourself up in a push-up position and feet about shoulder width apart.
- Keeping a strong plank, lift your right hand and rotate the right side of your body upward until you're in a side plank forming a T with your arms.
- Reverse the move, rotating to the left.
- Make sure to keep your hips raised and your body in a straight line. You can up the stakes by adding a push-up at the bottom.
Rower Side Lunge: 1 Minute
This move utilizes the rowing machine in an unconventional way for an added challenge for your legs. - it's very similar to a Megaformer move, too!
- Start facing the side, standing at the end of the rower with your right foot planted firmly on the ground and your left foot planted on the seat of the rower.
- Shifting your hips back and bending your right knee, slide the left foot to the side as you lower yourself into a side lunge (think about sitting in a chair on that right leg).
- Once you reach the bottom, press through your right heel as you straighten your leg back up to standing.
- You can spice this up "Speedplay style" by playing with the tempo, like counts on the descend, adding a two count pause at the bottom, then driving up drive up and and extend your leg back up to standing.
- Repeat for 30 seconds on each side.
Rower Crunch: 1 Minute
This one is going to rock your abs with the slightest movement - check it out.
- Start in a plank position with both elbows on the seat. A really good way to set this up is to face the rower from the back end, move the seat back, and start from there.
- Once in a plank position, lock out your knees by squeezing your quads, set your hip by squeezing your glutes, and contract your abs by drawing your navel towards your spine.
- Keep everything from your midsection down contracted and stable while sliding the seat forward and back with arms. The only movement here should come from the arms.
- If keeping your knees up is too difficult for you today, you can always take the edge off by keeping your knees down on the floor.
- Continue for 60 seconds, keeping your core engaged.
