The Tedious Adoption Process Is Absolutely Worth It, and This Video Is Proof
In 2012 (yes, you read that correctly...2012), we started the adoption process to bring home our two precious sons from the Democratic Republic of Congo. March 1, 2016 11:45pm...
Posted by Jennifer Murrow Grover on Thursday, March 3, 2016
Deciding to adopt might just be the easiest part of the entire process, as bringing a new member into your family comes with many obstacles. Jennifer Murrow Grover and her husband, James, who know the difficulties of adoption all too well, were finally able to unite with their two sons at the airport, three years later. In the touching video above, the four embrace with tears as if they've always known each other.
International adoption was completely foreign to the couple prior to adopting their first child 15 years ago. After already having three young children of her own, Jennifer began to experience a sense of yearning for a baby girl. "I just started feeling very much that there was a little girl that was supposed to be in our family that was not going to come through us biologically and we needed to go find her," said Jennifer in a West Sands Adoptions video. Jennifer and James have also had to deal with the tragedy of five miscarriages over the years.
Growing up in the military, Jennifer was exposed to various parts and cultures of the world, and she wanted to bring that diversity into her own family. Three adopted children later, Jennifer felt that yearning once again - this time, for two sons.
Without hesitation, she knew 7-year-old Bronson and 14-year-old Joseph were perfect. "When I saw Bronson's picture, I knew instantly that he was ours." Then a day or two later, Jennifer saw more agency photos that included Joseph, and the rest was history. Although the boys have legally been their children for about two-and-a-half years, bringing them from the Democratic Republic of the Congo was not an easy feat like their previous adoptions. While waiting for the US to approve their visas, the DRC placed a suspension on adopted children, forcing Bronson and Joseph to wait to come home.
"One thing that is very common with adoption in general, but specifically an international adoption, is you need to expect the unexpected. We have not had an adoption yet where there has not been something unexpected take place."
While it was easy to get discouraged by the tedious process, Jennifer and James have remained persistent, and there's no stronger proof than the video above that every obstacle along the way was worth it. Seeing Bronson run into Jennifer's arms alone is enough for us to start tearing. Watch the heartwarming clip of the family yourself.

Which Prince Has Always Been Hotter: William or Harry? Crown the Winner Now
Seeing photos of Prince Harry this year has made us wonder: has he officially eclipsed his older brother William in the hot prince department? Let's be clear, William definitely had a hotness heyday; this was a man who plastered the pages of teenybopper magazines and even stood up Britney Spears for a date (the British talk show host she revealed the missed connection to famously told her "Go with the brother [Harry]. He's much more fun."
That being said, we're taking it to our royal-loving readers: is Harry hotter than William now? And if so, what year did he take the throne away? Scroll through to vote for either William or Harry, year by year. We can't wait to get this dilemma squared away once and for all.

Don't Do Butter? Here Are Top Replacement Picks From a Nutritionist
Butter vs. margarine? What's better to spread on your bread? It's an age-old debate, but ever since trans fats have been essentially phased out of margarine products and butter-like spreads, health professionals recommend them over butter, which is rich in saturated fats. Butter alternatives are also lower in overall calories and total fat. The best spreads are made from vegetable oils and have no partially hydrogenated oils.
Look for spreads that provide per one-tablespoon serving:
- No more than 2.5 grams saturated fat
- Up to 80 calories
- No partially hydrogenated oils
- No trans fats
Healthiest Spreads
Earth Balance Made With Olive Oil
Made from an oil blend that includes palm fruit, canola, safflower, and extra-virgin olive oil.

The Touching Cartier Connection Between Princess Diana, Prince William, and Kate Middleton
Along with a laid-back lifestyle and charitable spirit, one of the things Princess Diana passed down to her son Prince William was a love for fine jewelry - especially beautiful Cartier watches. After her divorce from Prince Charles, Diana was frequently photographed wearing a gold Cartier Tank Francaise, a gift from her father, John Spencer. She bought William a similar timepiece from the famed French label, which she had engraved for one of his birthdays. After her death in August 1997, William chose to keep Diana's Cartier Tank as a memento - and in 2014, he gifted Kate Middleton with the Ballon Bleu de Cartier watch for their third wedding anniversary.
Not only was the watch on its own a beautiful way to connect his beloved mother and new wife, but William also went a step further by embedding a sapphire stone into the stainless-steel style to match Kate's engagement ring - which also belonged to Diana. William presented Kate with the Ballon Bleu de Cartier just before they embarked on their tour of Australia and New Zealand in 2014, and she wore it nearly every day that they were there.
50 Everyday Observations That Chrissy Teigen Turned Into Twitter Gold
Chrissy Teigen is the Queen of a lot of things: whipping up meals that make us side-eye our sad takeout, posting ridiculously cute photos of her daughter, and transforming us into the heart-eye emoji anytime she talks about John Legend. On top of all that, she's also killing it on Twitter. It seems like a week can't pass without people praising her for an epic clap-back or hilariously relateable observations about life, and the praise is totally warranted. In honor of her social media savvy (a lame phrase Chrissy would probably make fun of us on Twitter for, let's be honest), let's take a walk down memory lane (memory newsfeed?) and bask in the glory of her best tweets.
A New Study Finds a Concerning Link Between Breast Implants and a Rare Cancer
The Food and Drug Administration found a concerning link between breast implants and a rare form of cancer that affects the surrounding lymph nodes. In a press release shared on March 22, the FDA said a total of nine people have died as a result of this strain triggered by implants.
The particular cancer is called anaplastic large cell lymphoma, or ALCL. According to the report, women with implants had an increased risk of developing the disease. In addition, textured implants present an even greater risk than implants with smooth surfaces. It is important to note that despite the connection to breast implants, ALCL is not a type of breast cancer as it affects the lymph nodes.
Why exactly do implants increase the risk? The FDA doesn't appear to have a solid answer on that yet. It may have something to do with the materials used to make implants, but so far any research into that has been inconclusive.
If you do have implants, no need to panic: ALCL can be effectively treated if it's detected early on. The FDA is now instructing women with implants to simply educate themselves on the risk. Again, ALCL is still extremely rare but being alert on any changes that may occur in your body is a good habit to form regardless.
Man Gets Hilarious Footage of His Goddaughter Stealing the Pope's Hat
Took my Goddaughter to meet the pope. She stole his hat! http://pic.twitter.com/SdSorop3uN
- Mountain Butorac (@MountainButorac) March 22, 2017
Although the pope holds a very important and serious position, he's known to let his emotions show, especially if he thinks something is comedy gold. During his US tour in 2015, we saw him crack up at a baby dressed just like him, but now, footage of a little girl stealing his hat and his reaction to it may be our new favorite Pope Francis moment.
Mountain Butorac took his goddaughter to see the pope, and luckily he was so excited about that meeting that he videoed the whole thing. The short video, which was posted to Twitter, is already spreading like wildfire. In it, you can see Butorac's goddaughter being lifted to hug the pope, and just as he plants a kiss on her cheek, she reaches her hand around his head to snatch his white cap. The girl accepts being caught in the act and reluctantly gives the hat back, and Butorac can be heard cracking up behind the camera as the pope laughs and returns the cap to his head.
Ahh, kids.
Watch What Happens When a Toddler Artist Is Left Alone With Her Little Brother
Peanut butter babyThis video was taken in 2004. It is THE video that gave us our 30 Seconds of "fame." (And an all-expense paid trip to Chicago) Emily was 3 and Ethan was 18 months at the time.
Posted by Gina Gardner Brown on Saturday, January 24, 2009
Every parent knows that sinking feeling that comes over you when you realize your children have been quiet for a while - too quiet.
Gina Gardner Brown noticed that her 3-year-old daughter and 18-month-old son were silent for way too long and decided to turn the video camera on before going to find what they were up to - thank goodness she did.
Brown found her two children sitting on the kitchen table, Ethan covered in peanut butter from head to toe, and Emily smiling proudly at her masterpiece, hands covered in the spread with the empty jar next to her. While this is most moms' worst nightmare, Brown handled it like a champ, encouraging her little budding artist but suggesting, "let's not do this again. This is not something we should repeat."
Watch the video and see the kids' reactions to Ethan being covered in sticky peanut butter and how their mama handled it all flawlessly. We should all take a page out of her book - messes can be cleaned up, and priceless moments should be celebrated.

3 of the Most Effective Weight-Loss Tips, From Real Success Stories
Weight loss is hard. It's not black and white, and it's certainly not cookie cutter. There are struggles, setbacks, and times you might wonder, "Why did I even start? Is there a light at the end of the tunnel?" But with these stories from women who achieved their success in all different ways, we can gain a strong sense of hope.
There's a different approach for everyone, and each woman's winning combination of tools is different. That said, there are a few common themes that we've noticed again and again, ones that you can implement no matter what your body type, habits, or goals. We've interviewed women who have lost between 25 and 225 pounds; their three best tips (collectively) were about movement, mindful eating, and support systems. We'll let them tell you exactly how these things worked in their journeys and how each contributed to their overall success.
Move More
Though some women really went hard and opted for six or more days of workouts, not everyone needed such a strenuous schedule to lose the weight. It's just about moving more. For Katie who lost over 200 pounds and Brooke and Hailey who each lost over 100, each of them aimed to reach 10,000 steps per day, tracking with either a Fitbit or a phone app. Setting an attainable goal that equates to just walking a little bit extra is attainable and can add up over time. In fact, it's one of celebrity trainer Harley Pasternak's best weight-loss tips - and these women are living proof that it works.
"I have actually found that exercise replaced food as an excellent way to relieve stress and make me feel in control."
If you're already somewhat active, adding in some more workouts is key. For Kara (who lost 40 pounds), her key was variety. "I am a member at a couple of local fitness studios in our neighborhood that offer Spin, barre, yoga, and circuit classes; therefore, on the days we work our legs and booty, I'll take a barre class with a friend. If cardio is on the schedule, I'll take a Spin class. I work out five to six days a week."
The more you move, the more it'll become part of your daily routine. "I love working out and have actually found that it replaced food as an excellent way to relieve stress and make me feel in control," said Hailey. "On an average week, I work out four to six times and try to keep it as fresh and engaging as possible."
Eat Mindfully
Most of the women we talked to who had accomplished major weight loss attributed their healthier weight to more mindful eating and conscious choices. "Preparing meals at home is one of the most effective ways to manage weight," said Brooke, but she also mentioned that "it has to be easy and enjoyable or it won't happen consistently."
Caitlin, who lost 25 pounds, is also more deliberate with her food and conscious of how her body feels when she eats. "I try to allow myself to eat out and trust myself to choose options that I know will allow me to feel good afterwards and to stop when I'm full. I try to just check in with myself like, 'Do you really want that?'" Kara had similar sentiments. She told POPSUGAR that she focuses on healthier choices but still loves food, so she monitors how her choices make her feel physically. "If I do indulge in a heavy, unhealthy meal, my body now reacts poorly, as it's become so accustomed to clean ingredients; therefore, I find myself struggling to gather energy or I'll feel just plain sick, so I've really stopped eating anything I know is going to make me feel sluggish."
"It's all about knowing what is good or bad for your body, being aware of what you're consuming, said Kat, who lost 40 pounds. "As long as it's healthy calories, the weight will come off." Speaking of healthy calories, part of deliberate and mindful eating includes being educated and learning as much as you can about your food. Taylor, a woman who lost about 25 pounds, used that education as an advantage in her weight-loss journey. "I am aware of more calorie-dense options like the healthy fats in almond butter, coconut oil, and avocado, and I am mindful to keep those in moderation."
Find Motivation in Community
For Becca, it was Weight Watchers that helped with her 100-pound weight loss. She used the community and the app as a way to stay on track. "You can see amazing before and after pictures, recipes, and tips," she said. "It really helps to keep me motivated."
Brooke found strength in the BBG community, saying, "It's empowering to be vulnerable about our flaws, share our goals, and cheer each other on." She noted that before finding the other women through BBG, that she "carried around a tremendous amount of shame" about her weight. "It was liberating to let go of that and realize that I wasn't alone."
"It was liberating to let go of that shame and realize that I wasn't alone."
Ensuring that you have that support and don't feel isolated is paramount to the success you'll see on your own journey. Kara told us that her "accountability partner" is the person who keeps her in check and keeps her going to "a 6 a.m. Spin or circuit class one to two times a week." Whether it's a best friend, significant other, co-worker, parent, or family member, you need to find someone who can hold you accountable and help you get through any and all setbacks.
For both Caitlin and Cait (who has yet another amazing weight-loss success story), that support came from Tone It Up. Upon finding the community on Instagram, Cait said, "It was the first time I realized maybe I can do this, and it doesn't have to be torture. These girls were just like me." That identity and support helped Cait reach her goals. "I started forming new habits, pushing myself to new heights, trying new workouts, sometimes failing, sometimes shining, but always being supported through my ups and downs. I loved supporting others and loved seeing the girls cheer me on!"
Caitlin said that "the TIU community was a total support system for me and still is," noting that it extended well beyond her weight loss. "The women in the community are incredible and will support, encourage, and listen as you go through whatever journey you're on. These women share through pregnancies, losses, marriages. . . . It's not just weight, but the emotional factors that usually are the drivers of our bad habits. I went to the Tone It Up retreat 2015 where I got to meet a bunch of the women I felt I already knew from following them on Instagram, and I am so happy I can now call them my friends."
Why This Teacher Wrote All Over Her Students' Desks on the Day of an Exam
Not everyone is meant to be a teacher, but this teacher certainly doesn't fall into that category.
As soon as Chandni Langford picked up on her fifth-grade students' jitters about upcoming high-stakes exams, she decided to do something about it. The creative teacher decided to fill her kids with an extra boost of confidence before the first of seven days of testing began by surprising them as they walked in with handwritten, motivational notes scribbled across each of their desks.
The notes, which were written with dry erase marker, were personalized for each kid and came complete with two doughnut holes along with the reminder, "Donut stress. Take your time and do your best."
"A lot of my kids were nervous that if they don't pass this test with good scores they won't go to the next grade," Langford told Philly.com. "They feel a lot of anxiety about that. I thought this would be a cute thing for them to walk into."
Langford has been teaching her students with a growth mindset strategy since the beginning of the year and decided to incorporate that idea into her inspirational notes. Even though the photos have gone viral since Woodbury City Public Schools first shared them on Facebook, the most important response to this creative form of encouragement came from Langford's students. "When I read the message, my fear went away," said her student Julissa Gomez. "I knew I could actually do it."

8 Things You Should Never Ever Say to Your Wedding Makeup Artist
As your wedding approaches and you are securing a makeup artist please remember that he or she is in charge of your face on the biggest day of your life. If you want to get along perfectly with a makeup artist (like me!) there are a few comments that you might want to keep to yourself:
1. "My husband doesn't like when I wear lipstick."
My husband hates a lot of things that I do. As a result, I continue to do those things, which is why this comment rubs me the wrong way. Your look on your wedding day should be about YOU! Not your husband. In theory, we want to make sure that he thinks you look beautiful, but if he asked you to spend the rest of your life with him, you probably already have that one in the bag.
When you look in the mirror on your wedding day you should feel and look your best. Take his opinion into account - or pretend to, so his feelings aren't hurt. But omitting lipstick or anything else that might make you your most gorgeous to appease a man sets a bad tone.
2. "This is my third trial."
Makeup artists have different styles of makeup application, and we all have individual ideas of what makes a bride "beautiful." We also have a variety of favorite products that we utilize on our brides. Despite these differences, most makeup artists are able to hone their talents to cater to your needs and your idea of what makes a beautiful bride. If a bride finds herself hopping around from makeup artist to makeup artist and is never satisfied, this is a red flag for me. Often the problem lies in a bride's unrealistic dream of her wedding day; she envisions of herself walking down the aisle as a Disney princess rather than the beautiful human that she is.
Reality check: you have flaws. Maybe you don't like your lashes or your skin tone or you have a zit. Embrace yourself and stop nit-picking every little thing about your face. Find an artist that you feel comfortable with, that uses products that you like, and make it work! That artist will be spending the bulk of your wedding day with yo. Make sure it is someone who you can trust and you will be happy.
3. "I don't want you to come to early because my makeup has to last until midnight."
Yes. I know. I am in the business of applying makeup so that it will be flawless and last through the day and the night. You might need to touch up your lips or apply powder for shine but your face makeup will last. I will use primers and setting powders and sprays and glue to make sure of that.
When you want me to come do your makeup and your mother's makeup and the eight other bridesmaids, it's going to take a while - even if I bring an assistant. We will start early. There's no way around it. If a bride is nervous, I always recommend that she go last so she can rest easy that her face will be perfect all night.
4. "I just wash my face with soap and don't moisturize."
That statement is often followed with further information like, "I don't take my eye makeup off at night." This type of skin care negligence only leads to a face that feels like sandpaper and eyes that have black circles around them. If your skin is in bad shape and your eye-makeup hasn't been taken off properly for years, no amount of makeup can help you.
Makeup simply does not sit well on unhealthy skin. If you are a "skin-abuser;" and then you show me a picture of Gwenyth Paltrow and say, "I just want to look like this!" I can tell you right off the bat, "It's not going to happen." Please consider proper skin care at least six months prior to your wedding day. You don't have to do anything crazy, just proper cleansing, moisturizing and the occasional face scrub will work wonders.
5. "What lipstick should I use?"
Often as I am packing up from a grueling five hours of makeup application on a wedding day, brides or bridesmaids will say expectantly, "So what should I use to touch up my lips?" Sometimes the expectation is that I will start doling out $28 lipsticks to everyone. Lip color is hard to choose, especially for an event. It should be chosen well before the event and PURCHASED. Do not wait until the day of to realize that you need a proper lip product.
6. "If I don't want a trial, can the price be cheaper?"
No. No it cannot. If anything I should increase the price if you don't have a trial because now we are both going to be anxiety-ridden on the day of your wedding. Not having a trial is ill-advised. You should at the very least meet with your artist ahead of time to discuss your expectations and show her a picture of what you like. To show up on the biggest beauty day of your life and expect perfection with no previous meeting is a recipe for disaster.
7. "I don't like blush, and I want a nude lip."
Color on your face can be scary if it's not what you're used to you in your daily life. But please remember that this is not your daily life. Putting your body into a white gown, placing a tiara on top of a head of curls and bobby-pins, and then walking around with no lipstick or cheek color doesn't add up.
This is an event like no-other. Take the plunge and add a little color to your lips and cheeks and you will be happy – especially when you see your pictures.
8. "I don't want lashes - my eyelashes are long enough."
Sorry, but nobody's are. It's not just the dancing and cocktail hour we have to consider when we make this decision. The main objective here is to make sure you look absolutely fabulous in your wedding photos.
These photos, after being held hostage by your photographer for a year, will then find their way to an album for your coffee table and possibly a bunch of frames around your home. Those images will be looked at every day by you and your husband. When you are older and tired from breastfeeding your baby and caring for a toddler, you will gaze fondly at that photo as evidence that you were once stunning and full of life.
Your children will place that photo on a table at the entrance of their wedding, that 300 people will look at closely and say, "Look how gorgeous his mom was!" That photo will be placed in a collage at your funeral. Please consider all of this, and know that fake eyelashes are the most sure-fire way to look like an absolute bombshell.
Planning a wedding is stressful enough – avoid these mistakes and you will be halfway to having the most flawless face for your wedding day!

Where Did Bruno Mars Grow Up?
This past year as basically been Bruno Mars Mania, and we can't get enough. With a catchy new album and a world tour underway, we find ourselves wanting to know more and more about him - while we are loving his sweet relationship with model and actress Jessica Caban, we are also curious about his family roots. The singer, whose real name is Peter Gene Hernandez, is pretty outspoken about his Latino heritage, but where did he grow up? Well, he actually helms from Hawaii! In October 1985, he was born in Honolulu to a father of Puerto Rican descent and a mother from the Philippines. After graduating high school, he moved to LA to pursue a music career, and the rest is history!
People Are Obsessed With How Much This Baby Girl Looks Like Ed Sheeran
Ever since Ed Sheeran gained fame in 2011 with his debut album +, a long string of lookalikes of the British singer-songwriter have come forward. Harry Potter actor Rupert Grint is one of them, as well as the young kid Ed cast in his "Castle on the Hill" music video, and another "twin" he met back in November 2012. All of them can take a seat, however, because Ed's true doppelgänger has revealed herself: 2-year-old Isla Walton.
Why does this baby look more like Ed Sheeran than Ed Sheeran does? http://pic.twitter.com/3I50d7yQlh
- Tom Davies 🌐 (@1TD) March 17, 2017
On March 17, Twitter user Tom Davies shared a photo of Isla, who is British like Ed, which went viral almost immediately (for obvious reasons). In an interview with The Sun, Isla's aunt, Stacey Walton, said that not only does her niece share a resemblance to the singer, but she's also a big fan of his music. "Everyone comments saying how she's a mini Ed, and I call her baby Sheeran," she said. "She loves his music, tries to sing along to the words and have a dance."
Isla's mom Zoe Walton, also found herself shocked by her daughter's instant fame, telling E! News "I can't believe how viral it has gone." Isla, who turns three in May, has yet to hear from Ed, but her mom has her fingers crossed that it will happen "hopefully one day." We thought no one would ever be able to top Baby Danny DeVito, but boy were we wrong.

Deadpool 2: Michael Shannon Is the Frontrunner to Play Cable
Before we even knew Deadpool was officially getting a sequel, we already had a strong inkling that one new face would definitely show up: Cable. The tip traces all the way back to the original film's postcredits scene, which hilariously pays homage to Ferris Bueller's Day Off. In it, Deadpool confirms that Cable would join for round two. Cable, if you don't know, is the son of Jean Grey's clone and Cyclops, both from the X-Men franchise. The question, of course, becomes, who would play the badass Marvel character? Well, there's a new frontrunner in town: Michael Shannon. But before we get to that, let's review what has transpired in the past few weeks.
Near the end of February, the creator of the Deadpool comic books (Robert Liefeld) basically revealed his dream casting for the role: Russell Crowe. Instead of just putting the wish out there in the Twitter ether, though, he actually tweeted at Crowe. And the best part is, Crowe not only responded, but seemed to warm up pretty quickly to the idea. Let's go over the full, delicious timeline of the weirdest superhero movie casting process you've ever seen.
1. Liefeld Basically Asks Russell Crowe to Sign On For the Role
@russellcrowe you should read for #Cable in Deadpool and X-Force. Just sayin...
- robertliefeld (@robertliefeld) February 24, 2017
On a late Thursday night, Liefeld tweeted to Russell Crowe out of nowhere and said he should read for the character. The next morning, Crowe responded in a way only an Oscar winner could: "I should read for it?" This roughly translates to, "I don't audition for roles. They're offered to me." Which is, well, pretty fair. Liefeld wrote back almost immediately, saying, "huge fan sir. Poorly worded. Apologies." Then, Crowe dragged Ryan Reynolds into it and basically said he'd consider it.
I'm sure if @VancityReynolds has any interest in that idea he'll find a way https://t.co/KFUC6fIxjS
- Russell Crowe (@russellcrowe) February 24, 2017
While Reynolds has yet to respond, Liefeld apologized again, sent over a photoshopped image of Crowe as Cable, and called it "an absolutely irresistible notion."
2. Liefeld Tweets a Hilarious Aside After the Whole Exchange
Note to self, don't caffeine tweet @russellcrowe before nodding off to sleep.
- robertliefeld (@robertliefeld) February 24, 2017
After all that back and forth, Liefeld once again called out his own lack of tact when approaching Russell Crowe.
3. Russell Crowe Personally Feeds the Fire
Hmmm... @robertliefeld thoughts? https://t.co/l7MpN0JQGp
- Russell Crowe (@russellcrowe) February 28, 2017
A few days later, Crowe initiated a little conversation of his own. The actor retweeted some fan art depicting him as Cable and asked Liefeld to weigh in. He responded almost immediately, saying, "Freaking AWESOME sir!!"
4.Liefeld Reaches Out Again
Figured you'd love this one @russellcrowe https://t.co/ZdYIpKpN9r
- robertliefeld (@robertliefeld) February 28, 2017
Recently, Liefeld sent another piece of fan art to Crowe. Although he didn't respond directly, he did retweet another piece of fan art from the same artist, and he also retweeted this poll asking if Crowe would be a good fit for the role.
On March 22, The Hollywood Reported exclusively revealed that Michael Shannon is the frontrunner to play Cable. "Sources say that Shannon isn't the only one on the studio's list but is leading the pack as the top choice at this stage," said THR. "Stranger Things actor David Harbour is also on the shortlist. Kyle Chandler's name surfaced last Summer but sources say he was never in contention for the role."
We'll have to wait for official confirmation!
How Jon Snow Is More Like Ned Than Any of the Stark Children
It's pretty much universally accepted at this point that Jon Snow isn't really Ned Stark's son on Game of Thrones, but the bastard apple doesn't always fall far from the tree (even if the apple is actually the nephew of the tree). Over the course of six seasons, we've watched Jon slowly evolve from family outcast to badass leader, and there's no denying how much Ned has inspired the man Jon has become, right down to his fashion sense. While we're waiting for more season seven details, take a look at the stark similarities. (Get it?)
They're both great (but reluctant) leaders.
In season one, Ned initially declines Robert Baratheon's request for Ned to be his Hand to the King. Though Ned is a loyal friend, he's never really desired being in a place of high power. However, his commitment to justice (in this case, investigating the Lannisters and Jon Arryn's death) and doing what's best for Westeros eventually sways him to head to King's Landing. Similarly, Jon has no aspirations of being Lord Commander when he first joins the Night's Watch, but ultimately accepts the position when it's decided by the group that he's the right choice. Jon tries to decline leadership again when Sansa reveals her plan to take back Winterfell; at this point, Jon has already been murdered for his role and has no interest in heading up an army and going into battle. However, like Ned, his commitment to doing the right thing, especially for his family, puts him in charge once again (though really Sansa is pulling a lot the strings here).
They refuse to compromise their morals
There's no denying that the Stark men are honorable, but unfortunately, like his father (and his brother Robb), Jon's rise to power ends in tragedy - and all three men fall due to an inherent difficulty in playing the darker side of the titular game of thrones. As Hand to the King, Ned is basically outplayed by everyone in King's Landing once Robert dies - proving to be no match for Littlefinger and the Lannisters, he ends up with his head on a spike, going to the grave refusing to truly acknowledge Joffrey as the true king (despite his final false confession). Jon gets into hot water with the Night's Watch when he won't turn his back on the wildlings (at the urging of many of his own men) - and pays the price when his men stage a mutiny. In his second life, Jon makes another grave mistake due to emotion - in the Battle of the Bastards, he's unable to stick to the plan to wait for the Bolton army to charge. Once he watches his brother Rickon die, he can't help but run straight for Ramsay (which also leads his army directly into a trap). Thankfully, things have worked out better for Jon than for Ned.
They're not afraid to do what they have to to make sure justice is served
It's clear from the very first episode of Game of Thrones that Jon is heeding his father's advice very carefully. In one of the first scenes of the show, Ned beheads a deserter of the Night's Watch as his sons look on, noting the importance that he do the beheading himself since he's delivering the sentence. Later, Jon follows suit in beheading Janos Slynt, after Slynt fails to acknowledge Jon as Lord Commander, and again in season six when Jon sees that the Night's Watch mutineers are hanged.
The physical similarities
Jon has always had the look of a Stark (moreso than Sansa, for example, who shares more similarities with her mother's side), but he's looked more like Ned than ever since his near death experience. For starters, there's the man bun Jon has been sporting, which harkens back to the Ned Stark mini-ponytail of season one. Then, there's the matter of armor: in season six, Jon has started wearing the Stark armor we previously saw on both Ned and Robb. Completing the look is the new fur cloak that Sansa makes and gifts to Jon after their reunion, which she modeled after the one their father used to wear. (Jon and Ned also share the uncanny ability to beautifully brood, but that's nothing new.)
St. Patrick's Day Is Over, but Reese Witherspoon's Irish Accent Will Stay With You All Year
Reese Witherspoon stopped by Conan on Tuesday night to reveal a very fun fact about herself: she's actually 63 percent Irish. While the Big Little Lies actress was blissfully unaware of her heritage until recently, she told the late night host that it actually makes so much sense. "I'm a really good drinker, I love St. Patrick's Day, potatoes are delicious, I'm looking forward to meeting all my cousins," she said. She then busted out her best Irish accent which, bless her heart, ended up being pretty terrible. While we're sure Ireland would welcome Reese with open arms anytime, she might want to tuck that accent away for good.

9 Outfits That Never Go Out of Style
With every runway and every new trend, I'm less enthused with what's in my own closet. It's more than an occupational hazard, and a common sentiment many women share: how to make our wardrobes functional and stylish each day so that we're never the victims of "I have nothing to wear" syndrome again. The answer I'm finding isn't always in stocking your closet with new stuff but in remembering the value of great essentials - and how to work them time and time again. So I'm going back to basics with nine timeless outfits you can rework and rewear any way you like. It starts here with a few easy formulas; just add and subtract to make them your own.

This Simple Action Will Turn Any Workout Into an Epic One
Sasha DiGiulian knows a lot about conquering fear. She's been rock climbing since the age of six, and in 2012, Sasha became the the first US woman and the youngest female in the world to climb 5.14d. In climber speak that is hard - excruciatingly hard. To this day, there are very few climbers - men or women - who can say they've done a climb of such difficulty.
I had a chance to see the Adidas athlete speak on a Future/Fit panel at SXSW, where she discussed the pressures of competing on a professional level and the lessons the everyday athlete, like you and I, can take from her own trials and tribulations. A week later, I keep going back to a specific tip she offered the audience. Similar to having a mantra that powers you through a workout, Sasha's ritual is something all of us can do when exercising and, really, in any difficult situation.
"The last thing I do before leaving the ground - whether it's 100 feet or 1,000 feet - is I smile," Sasha said. "That puts me in the zone to perform well. Even if smiling isn't your go-to, find what does put you there and create a habit of it."
Sasha's tip goes well beyond a fake-it-till-you-make-it trick. Several studies have shown that a smile is one of the most powerful tools we have in our arsenal. A forced smile can almost instantly improve your mood, decrease stress, and over time, change your tendency to have negative thoughts.
The next time you're headed into the gym, are faced by a daunting long run, or are just wanting to give up, try smiling. It may feel terribly forced and cheesy, but it's likely you'll go into your workout feeling better than you did one minute prior. Excuse us while we swap out our pre-workout smoothie with a smile.
Guy Raps "Alphabet Aerobics" in Hopes of Scoring a Tonight Show Internship
The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon is known for its hilarious sketches, and this one guy wants to be part of the action. A student named Jake Sirianni went above and beyond for his internship application by rapping Blackalicious's "Alphabet Aerobics," which Daniel Radcliffe famously performed on the show. Not only does he expertly rewrite the lyrics to be about the late-night talk show, but he even edits himself into the video. We really hope Jimmy finds this!

You're About to See This Swimsuit Collaboration All Over Instagram
Just looking at Ban.do's swimsuit collaboration with Private Party is enough to set the Instagram "likes" in motion. Just insert yourself into any one of the collection's five brightly hued suits ($99 each), branded with bold, positive messaging, perched on your choice of 'grammable pool floats (flamingo, unicorn, pizza slice, etc.). If you're doing the fashion math in your head, then you know the theoretical "likes" are already in the hundreds (if not thousands).
We can't argue with the logic. Like the suits Private Party is known for, these one-piece, classic scoop-back styles offer enough quotable options to outfit a whole girl squad at the beach, a music festival, and beyond. And they're so friggin' cute, it's almost impossible to pick just one. Well, start making your selection, because these babies hit Band.do exclusively tomorrow, and we're betting they won't last long.
Emily Ratajkowski Has a "Sun's Out, Buns Out" Philsophy in Mexico
Emily Ratajkowski let it (almost) all hang out when she hit the beach in Mexico with a friend on Monday. The model and actress showed off her butt in a sexy brown one-piece and looked totally at ease as she relaxed on a lounge chair, beer in hand - are you jealous yet? Emily is clearly having a great time south of the border; last week, she shared a photo of herself totally naked while laying in a rock pool. The one downside to the trip? She did get a sunburn, but hey: you have to take the good with the bad (and red).

Study Shows That Waiting Until Your 30s to Give Birth Can Increase Your Child's Intelligence
We already know that waiting to have kids comes with its fair share of perks. Aside from getting to enjoy your prepregnancy bod for a while longer, there are also some scientifically proven benefits, such as memory loss prevention and a longer lifespan. Now there's another reason that further solidifies why delaying pregnancy is the way to go.
Researchers at the London School of Economics looked at data from the Millenium Cohort Study and found that older moms, specifically those in their 30s, are more likely to give birth to intelligent children than those who have kids a younger age. The study, which looked at 18,000 British children and the impact of their mother's age at their birth, discovered that children of 30-something mothers outperformed the offspring of 20- or 40-something moms on cognitive tests. Their reading, thinking, and remembering skills were tested when they were 10 or 11 years old.
The reasoning for these findings appears to lie in the fact that women who delay pregnancy typically do so because they chose to establish a career rather than bear a child in their 20s, according to Daily Mail. As a result, 30-something mamas are able to provide their tots with more resources and attention because they are already settled in their jobs, the research suggests.
Though the research was originally published back in 2015, its findings are making their rounds on the internet again, with many 30-something moms-to-be excited about the prognosis. The analysis also demonstrated how delaying birth to ages 40 or older can be associated with a heightened risk of obesity. This is all the more reason to shoot for that sweet spot of your 30s for your first pregnancy.

Pat McGrath Launches Iridescent Products Zenon Would Love
Remember when smoky eyes were boring? You probably visited a MAC or Bobbi Brown makeup counter in middle school and were told to put a nude base on your lid, a dark brown on your crease, and smudge like crazy. While this look is universally flattering and wearable, it's likely not going to make your selfie go viral. Thanks to Pat McGrath, the 2017 version of a smoky eye is out of this world - literally - as in, galaxy-inspired.
The makeup genius is releasing two new kits (dubbed Dark Star 006) in her Pat McGrath Labs brand meant to give you either a holographic ultraviolet blue or brown smoky eye. The trend was first seen when she did the makeup for the Anna Sui Fall 2017 New York Fashion Week show, where the Ultraviolet Blue set was used.
"The Dark Star 006 kit is all about the infinite blackness of outer space," McGrath said in a press release. "A star before it goes supernova, the iridescence of a raven's wing, a kohl-rimmed punk with smoke curling from their cigarette, but also a refined rebellion."
On April 11 at 12 p.m. ET at patmcgrath.com, you can snag a sequin-filled pack ($130) containing seven products to create this iridescent, dark eye makeup look in either UltraViolet Blue or UltraSuede Brown. The offering includes either blue or brown pigment, Astral White pigment, Mercury pigment, Dark Matter pigment, Cyber Clear eye gloss, Black SmudgeLiner eye kohl, and a Blender Brush. There is also the option to buy the six essentials without the blue or brown pigment for $95.
At an event to showcase the products to editors, she told our reporter that her goal for this this kit was to help people do a "real multi-dimensional smoky eye." McGrath admitted that she's over flat Instagram eye makeup, which is why this hybrid of gels and creams will give you a more textured, layered look.
And yes, she is OK with you wearing '80s blue eye makeup during the day. "Absolutely," she enthused. "People aren't that afraid of makeup anymore."
A standout in the set is the holographic gel, which can also be used on cheeks or lips. When you layer it on the Astral White pigment with the Ultraviolet blue, the color looks like an oily sticker from the '90s. (We're referring to this thing, kids.)

Why You Actually Do Not Want to Wear BB Cream - Ever Again!
Do you even know what you are asking for? Have you actually taken a second to look in the mirror recently to look at your skin with this so-called "beauty balm" on it? If you had, you would notice that the skin on your face looks like the Sahara desert and you would not be back here asking for more of this hellish product.
As a working makeup artist, at least once a day, a client will say to me "I don't want a foundation - I just want a BB cream." Without fail, the same conversation will follow this announcement:
"Oh, OK, so you would like something oil-free?" I answer while I look at this poor woman's dry, flaky skin.
"Absolutely not! I have dry skin!" she will exclaim in horror.
"OK, so you like something with a heavy coverage." I try again.
"No! I don't like anything heavy," she will explain.
"OK, so you just want something that is matte?" I will ask calmly.
"No. I think I like to look a little dewy," she will answer.
A BB cream is in fact a foundation.
And we are back to square one. I will then explain to her that a BB cream is in fact a foundation. It can be used as a primer under a foundation or as an actual foundation. Either way, it serves to provide moderate to heavy coverage and is meant to be applied all over the face to even out skin tone and hide imperfections, as most traditional foundations do.
It is all quite confusing because "BB" stands for "beauty balm" in the Western world, when in fact this product very rarely helps anyone to look beautiful. Instead, everyone wearing it generally walks around with pale skin that looks like sandpaper.
Whoever came up with the marketing scheme that is the BB cream is a genius. He or she has convinced women across the globe that this is the product for them. Hidden behind the promise of a high level of SPF, there lies a product that is meant to provide heavy matte coverage leaving skin lifeless, dull, and without an ounce of color.
This is not a look or feel that suits most women's skin. Yet, many of you - even after you look in the mirror and see a lackluster face staring back at you and touch your skin and notice that it feels like an alligator - you actually come back to the store and ask again for a BB cream!
It is at this point that I break the news. A BB cream is not for you. It is not for any person, really, unless they are extremely oily and acne-prone.
A big reason American women have been so enticed by this product is that it promises to be an "all-in-one." It provides high levels of SPF, moisturizer, serum, primer, and foundation all in one swipe. To Americans, who are generally rushing in the morning and have very limited time for proper skin care, this sounds delightful.
Alas, like everything else in life, slow and steady wins the race. It is to our benefit to find the time to moisturize and prime our skin before our makeup.
For those of us that claim to "not have enough time" for skin care and primer in the morning, perhaps we can take a closer look at what we do "have time" for. I, for one, have time to watch the weather at least three times on the Today show while I sip my coffee. I also usually find time to check my email and look at Facebook. I often engage in several witty and entertaining text conversations with my girlfriends about nothing.
If we really examine our morning routines, most of us will find that we do in fact have the two extra minutes required to apply a serum, a moisturizer, and a proper primer. These extra minutes that we are applying products with our fingers to our face will make a world of difference in how our skin looks when our makeup is applied. It also ensures that our skin is being properly cared for and hydrated.
Everyone wearing it generally walks around with pale skin that looks like sandpaper.
Those who seek natural coverage should follow those steps with a tinted moisturizer. This step evens out skin tone and provides a light coverage and sunscreen. My two favorite brands of tinted moisturizer are Laura Mercier and Trish McEvoy. Both products will help your skin to look like a better version of itself.
If it is more coverage that you need, then a CC cream is the way to go. CC stands for "color correction," and these products are better suited for most skin types as they are dewy and hydrating and cover imperfections impeccably. My personal favorite is the IT Cosmetics CC Cream. It is a miraculous product that will change your life. This product also claims to provide serum, moisturizer, and primer, but I think it best to do those steps separately to be sure that your skin is treated and primed perfectly.
When all is said and done, do what is best for your lifestyle and your skin! Take five minutes and sit down with a makeup artist or skin care expert to determine what is best for you and stick with it . . . no matter what the latest trendy foundation is to come down the pike.
After applying your foundation, you should always look in the mirror and ask, "Does my skin look like skin? Do I look like a better version of myself?"
If the answer is no, then throw it out and try again.
How Did Tim McGraw and Faith Hill Meet? They Were Dating Other People
Tim McGraw and Faith Hill are one of country's most iconic couples, so it's pretty fitting that their love story started at a musical festival. The two first met at the New Faces Show in Nashville sometime in late 1994. Faith had just divorced Daniel Hill and Tim was dating Kristine Donahue. Even though their interaction backstage was brief, they got to know each other a little better when they went on a joint tour in the Spring of 1996, fittingly titled Spontaneous Combustion.
While Tim was newly single after calling off his engagement to Kristine, Faith was engaged to record producer Scott Hendricks. After singing together every night on stage, however, they just couldn't deny the sparks between them. One night after a show, Tim invited her into his dressing room and they shared their first kiss. Shortly after, Faith called off her engagement and the two began dating. By the end of the year, they were married and expecting their first child. Fast-forward 20 years and the country couple is still going strong with three beautiful daughters.

Reese recently opened up about her look-alike daughter's trendsetting ways, saying, "She's so much cooler than I am!" and admitting that they "confer about new styles" and that Ava tells her "whether or not I can wear things."

If You Have a Child Who Plays Sports, Please Spend 2 Minutes Watching This
As the UConn women's basketball coach, Geno Auriemma has had years of experience in dealing with grown athletes, but he also has meaningful thoughts on today's generations of kids that every younger player needs to hear.
Although his remarks are from a 2016 press postgame press conference, they are now going viral because his timeless message is still relevant for all kids and their parents - no matter what sport they play or what kind of team they're on.
"Recruiting enthusiastic kids is harder than it's ever been because every kid watches TV . . . and what they see is people just being really cool. So they think that's how they're gonna act," Geno said. "They haven't even figured out which foot to use as a pivot foot and they're gonna act like they're really good players."
For Geno, it doesn't matter how amazing a kid is, he would rather see the team lose than watch someone play with a selfish attitude. Instead, he wants to remind players to be "upbeat, loving life, and love the game."
And it isn't just the kids' behavior that Geno is calling out, but their parents as well: "That's the world that we live in today, unfortunately. Kids check the scoreboard sometimes because they're going to get yelled at if they don't score enough points. Don't get me started."
