You Can DIY the Badass Neon Eyeliner Trend With Just 2 Products
If pastel unicorn makeup isn't really your style, then you're likely grateful for the edgy and electric neon liner trend. It looks just like a piece of neon artwork and adds a gritty glow to any standard eye. However, for the past few weeks, we've been curious as to how to DIY it ourselves.
It appears quite complex to re-create, but thankfully Reddit user tbhbbidgaf shared the above image in a post to the MakeupAddiction subreddit, where she shared her technique and revealed that it's actually quite simple.
"I do the black smokey eye first then draw a white line above my crease," she explained. She then goes over that white line with shadow in the neon shade of her choice, then refines the white stripe. "Repeat steps until you're happy with how it glows," she added. She used Graftobian Clown White Paint ($4) to make her electric eye pop.
After you've picked your jaw up from off the floor, stay tuned! This makeup artist plans to create a tutorial for the majestic look so it's even easier for fans to DIY. We'll be waiting for this with bated breath.

9 Simple Hacks to Make Straight Hair Hold a Curl
While I don't suffer from frizz and rainy days don't drive me to tears, I'm still frequently frustrated by my straight hair. It may have a reputation of being one of the easiest textures to manage, but styling is another test entirely. And that's a test I rarely pass. My arduous attempts to add glossy curls to my look always end with the same result: limp, flat locks.
Determined to master my own mane, I reached out to Herbal Essences celebrity stylist Charles Baker Strahan. Turns out, I've been blaming my strands when I'm the one with the terrible technique!
"Naturally straight hair textures can be more difficult to curl," he explained, "but usually the challenges are created in the approach to actually getting the hair to curl." Everything from how I wash my hair to where in my home I use hot tools makes a difference. If your curls unravel, too, read on! Strahan shared nine ways to ensure styling success.
Ed Sheeran Says His Girlfriend Showed Him It's Possible to Be Both Happy and Successful
Ed Sheeran's career is on fire right now, and he's also in a committed relationship with childhood friend Cherry Seaborn. In the new issue of Clash magazine, the "Shape of You" singer says that he now realizes that it is possible for someone to have both a successful career and a happy love life. "I always thought to have a really good career, you always had to be incredibly unhappy, and I always thought to be really happy, you had to have a bad career, because I didn't see the balance of the two," he explained. "And I've realized that that's obviously bullsh*t, and just what you tell yourself to justify it. I live with Cherry now. We've got cats, we have takeaways and watch movies, we have people round for dinner. I've never had that."
As far as his career is concerned, Ed doesn't seem too worried about it. "I don't think my career will go pear-shaped, but I do think at some point I will step back from it, and the moment I step back from it, I'm just going to write songs and every now and then go and play a gig. Maybe I'm not going to play Wembley [Stadium] for the rest of my life, and maybe I'm not going to have number one hit smashes for the rest of my life, but I will always be able to do those two things and make a living off them. I think if it all ended tomorrow, I had a f*cking good run."
Ed has been dating Cherry since September 2015. After sparking up their romance, Cherry relocated from America to her native UK to be with Ed. Most recently, Ed proved that chivalry is alive and well when he took off his sneakers at a party in London and gave them to Cherry to wear after the heel on one of her Christian Louboutin booties broke. If only there were more people like Ed out there.
10 Fun Facts About Ed Sheeran That You Can Use as Talking Points at Parties
Ed Sheeran is having a major moment right now, and we really can't think of anyone who deserves it more. After his new album, Divide, was released in early March, the singer has been all over the map. In addition to delivering one killer performance after the next, he's also opened up about his romance with girlfriend Cherry Seaborn, touched on his friendship with Taylor Swift, and inspired some pretty unbelievable dance videos. But do you ever say to yourself, "I would really love to know more about him"? Us too. Keep reading for 10 fun facts you might not have known about the "Supermarket Flowers" singer.
- In 2009, he played in more than 300 live shows and gigs while trying to get noticed. When Ed was just 18, he played a show almost every single day of the year in order to try to build his career from the ground up. "I gigged pretty much every day," he told the Daily Mail in 2012 about his dedication. "My dad cut this article out about James Morrison. He said, 'Look, this dude did 200 gigs in a year. He got the experience and then he got signed.' My dad's attitude is to take someone you admire and not so much copy them as take their work ethic and do it twice as much."
- He names all of his guitars. The singer revealed that he names his guitars after people in his working crew. Past guitars have been named Chris, Trev, James I, and James II.
- He sees his songs in color. Being the true artist that he is, Ed's songs aren't just lyrics to him. "All my songs have colors," he's said. "'You Need Me I Don't Need You' for example is aubergine. It's a sad song about struggling."
- He gave Harry Styles a tattoo. Ed actually tattooed a padlock on the One Direction singer's wrist. Harry later revealed that he's come to regret the ink, saying, "I regret this one on my wrist here [pointing to the padlock]. I mean, these are just crap. There are some that my friends have done and some that are just awful."
- Ed estimates that he has between 60 and 100 tattoos himself. His collection of ink includes three boxing gloves, a shamrock filled in with the Irish flag, a giant family tree, a teacup, the Heinz Tomato Ketchup logo, a Canadian maple leaf, and "Red" after Taylor Swift's album.
- He also has one in honor of his favorite TV show, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Ed has the word "Prince" tattooed in green letters on his bicep. When asked about the meaning behind it, Ed said, "I played in Philadelphia and I was on tour with my friends, the Rizzle Kicks, who were my opening act. And I got 'Prince,' Jordan got 'Fresh' on his leg, and Harley got on his arm 'on the playground where I spent most of my days.'"
- He's relatable when it comes to food. During a 2012 radio interview, Ed got hilariously honest about his outlook on having a chiseled body, saying, "I have never had a six-pack and will never have a six-pack, so I might as well stuff my face." Same, Ed. Same.
- Taylor Swift actually contacted him first. We've all come to know and love Ed and Taylor's close friendship, and it turns out that the "Style" singer was the one to make the first move. After one of her managers saw him performing at a show in Nashville back in the day, Taylor contacted him because she instantly fell in love with his music. "['Lego House'] just cut through everything else," Taylor told Rolling Stone.
- He has a refreshing outlook on fame. Ed, who has given fans glimpses of his normal and happy childhood through his music videos, still seems to be that same down-to-earth kid from the English countryside. "I've always said that I wanna be known as the nicest and hardest working guy in the industry, so if I could be known as that that would be brilliant," he said in 2012.
- He can speak German and Greek. Not a lot, but it's still something!

This Genius Eye Shadow Hack Lets You Save Space and Create Custom Palettes
For makeup addicts, saving space is an essential part of maintaining a collection. It doesn't matter if we're running out of space in our Ikea Alex drawers - sooner or later we are going to need the latest eye shadow, blush, or highlighter and attempt to cram another product into our overflowing assortment.
It's at that moment when savvy beauty enthusiasts take a tip from the pros and save space by depotting. This consists of removing eye shadow (and other pressed powder formulas) from bulky packaging and popping the pans into magnetic palettes. By depotting your favorite shades, makeup becomes easily accessible and drawers suddenly have room for even more products.
Depotting doesn't just act as an organization technique - it also makes packing super simple. As you might know, it can be hard to decide which eye shadow palettes should travel with you. With this method, you can select exactly the colors you want to take with you on your trip and build a custom palette. Genius!
Read on to find out how to use this method for a more organized and transportable makeup collection.

How to Get Instagram-Worthy Hair
Yours truly, before and after my transformation with Anh Co Tran and Johnny Ramirez.
Anh Co Tran is, in a word, cool. He works with women who most of us fawn over in the media - he gave Coco Rocha, Ginnifer Goodwin, and Faith Hill pixie cuts. But he's not just a short-crop aficionado. He's styled Gone Girl's Emily Ratajkowski and even social media superstars like Arielle Vandenberg, who has over one million Vine followers. "Lately, all the women who come in for a cut show me Arielle's photo," he said. And, of course, Jessica Alba recently debuted her sexier, lighter strands, thanks to Anh and his partner Johnny Ramirez. But Anh's following isn't a result of his clients - it's his work.
The thing about Anh, though, is he might be cool, but he's not above being friendly. When you meet him, it's as if you've known him for years, like a close friend. That's probably why so many of his clients feel comfortable going so bold when their hair is in his hands. If you're in need of a major transformation, Ramirez-Tran will make you the 2.0 version of yourself.
Anh is a superstar in his own right. His Instagram has 207,000 fans, a mix of people who want to learn his technique, want their hair cut by him, or simply love gorgeous hair.
We have firsthand experience working with Anh. He predicted the bob would be the haircut of 2014 - he was right - so we filmed a segment at his salon, Ramirez-Tran, to learn the dos and don'ts of the 'do. Want to know more about the man behind the trend? Keep reading! Plus, learn the key products you need to create the look.

What would you do if your husband of many years (whom you weren't particularly fond of) passed away and you were left with a bunch of old photos of the two of you together? If your answer is "cut out photos of Leonardo DiCaprio and paste them all over my late husband's face," then we have someone you should meet. On Sunday, Reddit user Greentechbuilder posted the above photo on Reddit, writing, "My friends Grandma's house. Maybe, but in our humble opinion, this kind of pettiness should be admired. Since Kate Middleton became the Duchess of Cambridge, she has won numerous accolades for her style choices, and everything she wears immediately sells out - so much so that it's even been given a name: the Kate Effect. However, close to home is another glossy brunette beauty who has often worn something very similar - her little sister, Pippa. It seems that more often than not, it's the younger Middleton who wore the look first, and sometimes long before Kate put her spin on it . . .

Experts Reveal the 1 Fruit You Shouldn't Be Using in DIY Beauty Treatments
As great aficionados of both fresh produce and DIY spa treatments, we find there are few better ways to spend a Sunday afternoon than whipping up a natural beauty remedy. We've tried homemade coconut-oil-infused hair masks and body scrubs, brightened our smiles and our fingernails with baking soda, and even washed our faces with honey. However, there's one ingredient we won't be reaching for anytime soon, and it's the humble lemon.
Many women turn to the juice of this citrus fruit to lighten dark spots, dark strands, and chemically exfoliate, but that is ill advised. Lemon juice has an extremely low pH (meaning it's quite acidic), so it is typically more damaging than beneficial to the area you're trying to treat.
Joanna Vargas, celebrity facialist and founder of Joanna Vargas Salon and Skin Care Collection, admits that it can even out pigment to some degree, but she doesn't recommend using it as a cleanser or toner. "Used too frequently, you're running the risk of making your skin red because it's very acidic," she said. Not only can it be irritating to your complexion, it could cause an issue called phytophotodermatitis.
Lemons contain photosensitizing compounds that react when exposed to sunlight, making skin exceptionally sensitive to UV. This leads to hyperpigmentation - the very issue you might have been trying to treat! - or even oozing blisters and chemical burns, which would take months to heal.
In lieu of DIYing a brightening treatment and risking harm to your complexion, try something carefully developed for skin. Look for formulas that contain citric or ascorbic acid, also known as vitamin C. We like Ole Henriksen Truth Serum ($72), a sweetly citrusy fragranced product that leaves skin radiant and hydrated.
We have more lemon-based bad news, unfortunately. If you've been mixing up your own hair-lightening spray with water and lemon juice, cut it out. According to Dr. Elizabeth Tanzi, founder and director of Capital Laser & Skin Care and assistant clinical professor of the Department of Dermatology at the George Washington University Medical Center, the acidic nature of lemon juice can weaken your hair.
"It's better to use products that are created specifically for hair lightening," Dr. Tanzi insisted. "Leave it to the professionals!" If you already have light hair, try using a treatment like John Frieda Sheer Blonde Go Blonder Lightening Shampoo ($10), which will gently lift and brighten your blonde. (If you have darker strands, just book a salon appointment after looking at our guide to blond hair for inspiration. It's better to be safe than sorry!)
But feel free to keep adding lemon juice to your morning mug of hot water. Experts agree that this is a seriously beneficial way to use the fruit in your daily routine.
Never Forget Chicken Cook Times Again With This Handy Chart
If every time you start cooking chicken you're unsure of how long you should cook it, you're not alone. It's a tricky thing to gauge, especially because chicken is not something you want slightly pink like a medium-rare steak. Fully cooked chicken should reach an internal temperature of 165°F and the juices will run clear. Even if you don't have a thermometer, there are standard cook times to memorize so you won't have to play a guessing game every time and risk eating undercooked meat. Refer to this handy list whether you're cooking boneless chicken breasts, bone-in chicken breasts and legs, or a whole roast chicken. You'll never end up with undercooked or totally dry, overcooked chicken again.
- Boneless, skinless chicken breasts: 450°F for 20 minutes
- Bone-in, skin-on chicken breasts: 400°F for 45 minutes
- Whole roast chicken: 425°F for 1 hour to 1 hour and 30 minutes
- Chicken thighs: 425°F for 20-25 minutes

This Beautyblender Storage Solution Is Almost Painfully Cute - and It's Only $5
Two little cuties - my sponge storage solution :) from MakeupAddiction
If you have a Beautyblender, you know that it can be a challenge to successfully store it. That's because it needs to dry thoroughly before being stashed away, lest you leave your tool susceptible to mold and bacteria. We've resorted to just leaving ours loose on a countertop, but we've been searching for a more savvy solution. And thanks to one Redditor, we've finally found it.
In a post to the MakeupAddiction subreddit, Reddit user wireless_woman showed off two stands she'd purchased for her blending tools that are both precious and practical. "Two little cuties," she shared. As you can see, the stands have bird-like legs, transforming your innocent sponge into the torso of a funky character that wouldn't be out of place in Monsters, Inc. "I'm actually really tempted to put googly eyes on them," she added.
Even better, these little storage options are available for purchase and incredibly affordable. They come as a duo and can be purchased right now from RoseGal for a mere $5.

How 1 Woman Proved You Can Get Better Brows With Time and Patience
Everyone has experienced their own trials and tribulations when it comes to eyebrows. Some of us may have suffered from overplucking, while others have filled them in too dark. But brows can be resilient and, with a little care, you can restore your arches, making them look better than ever.
When we think back on our own brow transformations, we get pretty emotional (how did we do that to ourselves?!), so when an Imgur user shared her five-year journey to achieving awesome arches, we truly related.
The woman shared five different selfies, documenting all the different ways she has played with her brows, from drawing them on really thin to unnaturally thick. Though we applaud her for trying out these trendy techniques, we have to agree that the final look - and also the most natural - perfectly frames her face.
"I thank my lucky stars every day that they grew back in from what I had done to myself as a teenager," she wrote. We're nodding our heads in agreement; her brows are truly blessed!

Relive That "Awkward" Moment When Hugh Jackman "Humiliated" His Former Student on the Red Carpet

On Friday, a Twitter user named Danny Dutch shared a clip of the awkward moment Hugh recognized reporter Rollo Ross, his former student at Uppingham School in England, on the red carpet. Rollo first uploaded the video on YouTube back in 2013, writing, "Hugh Jackman giving me a little bit of nice humiliation on the green carpet at the Zurich film festival after realising he taught me at Uppingham School." Brides Need to Read This Horror Story About Wedding Beauty Services
"Keep it simple. Keep it simple." That was the mantra, my then-fiancé and I kept repeating while planning our Brooklyn wedding last May. Since we are in our 30s, most of our friends already were married, and we had heard tons of stories of the stress and complications that come with producing a one-day affair that is supposed to be, according to nearly everyone, "the most important day of your life."
I bet you can tell where this is going. It wasn't simple. Or stress-free. But we really did try to make it manageable: we kept the guest list down to just 50 people, and stuck to our budget by renting a city garden for the ceremony and booking a local restaurant for the reception. We did a lot of things ourselves, including making teacup candle favors.
A couple months before the big day, a friend asked me who was doing my hair and makeup. Right. Hair and makeup. I hadn't thought of that. I'm someone whose makeup routine consists of wearing eyeliner and mascara about twice a week, and maybe a little blush if I really want to dress up. "Doing my hair" means remembering to brush it in the morning. So while booking hair and makeup is often at the forefront of most bride's wedding lists, it had somehow slipped my mind.
I realized I needed help. "Fear not," my sweet friend said. "I'll just book you an appointment with a great online service I've used before. Hair and makeup stylists come to your apartment and take care of it." My friend took care of the bill, which was around $125, as a gift. (I have great friends, I really do).
And just like that, I crossed hair and makeup off of my to-do list.

Let's fast-forward through the drama of cutting notable family members from the guest list, discovering our preferred reception restaurant was already booked, and waiting until the last minute to find a wedding dress. Every wedding has its share of planning stress.
The night before, I double checked everything: taxi reservations, safe rings' storage, and the photographer and beauty stylists' arrival times. The latter was particularly important, as I'd planned a morning wedding that would start promptly at 9 a.m.
I had given myself a 6:30 a.m. wakeup call so I'd be ready on time. Not that I slept. I was up all night with a racing heart - jitters is putting it mildly. At some point around 3 a.m. I even Googled "tricks for falling asleep fast," and they didn't work.
So I stumbled dazed and confused out of my bedroom and announced to my best girlfriends that I was a little frazzled, and that I just wanted the morning to be peaceful.
I put on my undergarments and tried to eat a bagel, waiting for the hairstylist and makeup artist to show up at their 7 a.m. call time. But the hour rolled around and they were nowhere in sight. "No biggie," I thought. "Anyone living in NYC knows that the trains are unpredictable."
But by 7:15 a.m., I started to freak out a little bit. I went back to my email to make sure the reservation was correct, and that's when I saw what had happened. My sweet friend had made a little mistake with my street address! Instead of writing "Southwest" for my street, she had written "West." That's it. The stylists were somewhere looking for an address that didn't even exist. And I was in full-on panic mode.
I immediately started scanning my confirmation email for the stylists' phone numbers or emails, so I could call and tell them the right address. There was nothing to be found. Nothing, that is, except for a hotline for the company. Frantically I dialed it, only to get their voicemail: "We're sorry, but our offices are closed until Monday..."
All I had was the stylists' first names, so on a whim, I googled one of them. Amazingly, I found her Facebook page, which led me to her website, where I found her email address. It was a Hotmail address. I didn't have much faith it would actually work, but I shot off a quick S.O.S. email as the minutes ticked by.
I was in tears at that point, standing there in my Spanx and wet hair, when my friend offered to do my hair and makeup herself. "OK," I said. I looked at the clock, it was 7:35 a.m. I was supposed to be out the door in an hour. "We don't have much time."
I sat down, and my friend began applying foundation to my tear-stricken face.
"You already look great," she assured me. "I'm just going to make you look a little better."

A few minutes later, the doorbell rang. It was the stylists.
They rushed up the stairs, lugging their suitcases full of hair dryers, curlers, eyeliners and powders. They looked as harried as I did.
"I never check my Hotmail account," the hairstylist said, "but something told me to check it this morning. I got your email and we raced over here."
At 7:45 a.m., I sat down again and the ladies went to work. I don't think they'd ever worked that fast before. Luckily for them, I wanted something uncomplicated, so squeezing a one-hour session into 15 minutes wasn't impossible.
The hairstylist began to give me a blowout while the other got to work on my face. The service has a dozen or so "looks" to choose from, and I chose a classic but simple one with some soft curls, pinned up so I could stick a few flowers in the back. For my makeup, I wanted a natural look, but a kind of "natural" that would disguise the fact that I hadn't slept a wink the night before.
The two women were amazing and really made me feel like it was all going to be OK. At a little past 8 a.m., they were done. With a slight change to my makeup (I had her tone down the initial job a little bit around the eyes), my "look" was complete. It was elegant, classic, and natural.
I quickly put on my dress and shoes and walked out the door, into my future as a married woman.
The wedding, by the way, was unforgettable.
If I were to do it all again, I would pay more attention to my wedding hair and makeup appointments. I notified the company about the whole ordeal. They said the reason there was no contact information exchanged was to protect the privacy of both stylist and client. They did, though, say that they'd try to come up with a system so that a similar situation would never happen again. In the end, they felt so bad about the near-wedding disaster that they gave both my friend and I gift certificates to use in the future - which we used, and had great experiences.
So, it all worked out. And I got to get married to my best friend, which was pretty great too.
You Will Cry Laughing Watching Melissa McCarthy Pretend She’s on Chopped
Melissa McCarthy stopped by The Late Show With Stephen Colbert to promote her latest comedy, The Boss, and things took a hilarious turn when a Chopped spoof happened. Colbert wanted to know what Melissa and her husband, Ben Falcone, watch at home with their children, and she said, "Chopped . . . I would love to be on it." In order to fit in the alotted time, Colbert said, "we'd have to take everything and smoosh it down," and with that, Smooshed was born.
Colbert gives his best Ted Allen impression when he introduces the basket ingredients - salted crackers, minimarshmallows, and bacon bits - and offers up the pantry ingredients, saying, "Also available is our pantry, which is whatever we could find in the breakroom fridge." With one minute on the clock, Melissa and Ben do their best panic-mode cooking and whip up some . . . interesting dishes. "I'm working on a sweet and savory," Melissa said, and I'll just say there's bologna, peanut butter, and pickles involved. "Mine is a rustic hash. Tuscan-influenced - I played with crunchy, sweet, savory, and meaty," she said. Watch the hilarious video to see the results for yourself; you'll want to gag and cry tears of laughter at the same time.

Dad of the Year Proves That Sometimes Parenting Requires Tough Love
A father who attended the Cleveland Cavaliers game on March 24, 2017 got to see his team pull out a close win over the Charlotte Hornets, but unfortunately, he had to celebrate that alone, as his son who was supposed to be there with him couldn't attend due to his bad grades. In a photo posted to Reddit by another fan at the game, the dad can be seen with a sign that has the Cavaliers logo on it, but that's not all - there's a crying face emoji and the statement: "Thomas, get your grades back up and next time you'll be here. Love, Dad."
Although the sign is savage, we've got to give it to this dad; he's showing his son some tough love, which is difficult for some parents. We don't know much else about this dad, but it's safe to say he's a strong contender for Dad of the Year. Hopefully Thomas gets his grades up and gets to attend the next game!
Why I'm Glad I Grew Up an Only Child
The most common question I was asked as an only child growing up was, not surprisingly, "Don't you wish you had a brother or sister?" And for as long as I can remember, I've always answered "no" without any hesitation. "You'll always have someone to play with, you'll have a lifetime support system," they said. Although enticing, I never longed for a sibling and I'm sure my parents were thrilled I never asked. (Mom and Dad, you're welcome.)
In my current early adult years, it's not unusual for people to be surprised at my sibling-less life. I'm told that I don't seem like a single child, which is most often defined when I ask as spoiled, attention-hungry, self-centered, and dependent. I guess it's better than getting the reaction, "Oh, that makes sense," but the fact is, I believe that growing up alone contributed to the absence of those traits.
It was never about the attention nor not having to share - those weren't the reasons I never cared for a brother or sister. I kept busy with neighbors and friends and I didn't mind the moments I was alone. I always had quite the imagination so it wasn't hard to get creative and I think I've always been able to appreciate time to myself - even as a child. My tripod of a family was fulfilling enough and I would cringe inside when others criticized or questioned my mother's decision to stick with one. Yes, an older sibling would have been able to watch over me and my future children would have aunts and/or uncles like the loving ones I grew up around. But I believe that my strong independence today can easily be attributed to me growing up as an only child.
I like that I was able to forge my own path rather than live in the shadows of someone else, and that I had to learn things on my own as I went. Plus due to some fantastic parenting, I learned to be self-sufficient at a very young age, which has made me totally fine as a now-22-year-old, still pretty-fresh-out-of-college woman who lives alone in a new city.
I was always fascinated by the fact that those with siblings had a unique bond with somebody else in their family other than a parent, cousin, or relative; a blood relationship with a peer almost - something that I will never be able to experience myself. I've never really been envious of my friends for that, but I do understand the many joys and perks that come with having a brother or sister. I probably wouldn't have gotten as bored at times and would've always had a readily available confidant. However, I'm thankful for my solo upbringing.
So next time someone pressures you to have more children or gives you crap about being an only child yourself, tell them that I turned out just fine - and your child will too!

This Tattoo Health Benefit Will Make You Even More Addicted to Ink
Most people who have tattoos find them to be oddly similar to eating potato chips: one just isn't enough. After getting your initial ink, you likely became addicted to the adrenaline rush. You know that every time you visit your favorite parlor, it's far from being your last appointment. Maybe your arms are covered with colorful sleeves, or perhaps you've decorated your body with countless tiny tats. Regardless of how you decorate your skin, your addiction is bad news for your wallet - but it may actually be good for your health.
Recent research published in the American Journal of Human Biology shows that getting inked stimulates the immune system. The 29 participants in the study provided saliva samples before and after getting a new tattoo, and the researchers analyzed the levels of immunoglobulin A (an antibody found in mucous membranes) in each sample.
According to The Huffington Post, the level of immunoglobulin A in the candidates who were receiving their first ink dropped much lower than those who had multiple tats. This implies that the immune system of those with more "tattoo experience" is adjusted to the ink process and trained to react faster to stressors.
Christopher Lynn, an associate professor of anthropology at the University of Alabama and coauthor of the study, told The Huffington Post that the body's response is similar to someone out of shape hitting the gym. You're immediately sore (even for days!), but with consistent workouts, your body adjusts.
"After the stress response, your body returns to an equilibrium," Lynn said. "However, if you continue to stress your body over and over again, instead of returning to the same set point, it adjusts its internal set points and moves higher."
You don't want to use these findings as an argument for getting your first tattoo - in fact, that first ink can make you more susceptible to illness, as your body is stressed by that experience. But, if you're already addicted, it's just another reason to love your body art even more.
The Best Way to Scramble Eggs, According to Anthony Bourdain
When it comes to the best way to scramble eggs, chefs tend to disagree. And one chef who embraces an entirely back-to-basics, no-frills approach is Anthony Bourdain. Bourdain describes his perfect scrambled egg in a video and makes it clear there's one thing you should never add to to the equation: dairy. "I just don't feel that milk or cream adds anything. I believe that a scrambled egg is principally about the egg," the chef says in the video. "You're not making a quiche here," he says. In his Appetites cookbook, which is filled with recipes that Bourdain thinks everyone should know how to cook, he describes his go-to method of scrambling eggs. Ready for it?
Start with fresh eggs, and get a hot - but not too hot - pan going. Crack the eggs on a flat surface before dropping them into a bowl to prevent any shells from sneaking in. Beat them with a fork, but don't overbeat them; you want to have a ripple of white and yellow instead of an entirely yellow mixture. Drop plenty of whole butter into the hot pan until it's foaming, followed by the beaten eggs. Allow the eggs to form a little bit before beginning to gently move them around in a "figure-eight pattern," as Anthony describes. The final product should be fluffy, airy, and rippled.
So there you have it. Unlike Alton Brown, who scrambles his eggs with whole milk, or Chrissy Teigen, who makes "cheesy" cheeseless scrambled eggs with heavy cream, or Paula Deen, who claims adding water lightens them up, Anthony Bourdain omits any of these additions for a basic, buttery egg.
E.L.F. Is Launching Its First New Highlighter Shade in 6 Years - and It's Gorgeous
If you haven't used E.L.F.'s Baked Highlighter, your cheekbones have been missing out on one of (if not the) best drugstore illuminators. The baked pigment is a cult favorite thanks to its rich color payoff and affordable price point.
Now, for the first time in six years, the brand is extending its Baked Highlighter range with a new shade called Apricot Glow - and we have an exclusive look! We caught up with Global Artistic Director Achelle Richards-Dunaway, who shared that the extension came to life because E.L.F.'s fans specifically requested an apricot iteration of its famous highlighter. The fan request isn't too surprising, considering the peach color palette is one of the season's hottest trends.
Unlike E.L.F.'s existing mauve- and pearl-toned highlighters, Apricot Glow will give your cheekbones a potent golden shine, similar to those trending on Instagram. Its color payoff is just as luminous as the original Baked Highlighters, and it can also be intensified with a damp brush or a spritz of E.L.F.'s Makeup Mist and Set ($3) setting spray.
The new shade ($4) launches on elfcosmetics.com in April, and we'll definitely be adding it to our Spring makeup lineup when it drops. But while you wait, read ahead for a closer look at Apricot Glow and to see it swatched on different skin tones.

People Are Now Applying Makeup With Hard-Boiled Eggs and I No Longer Have Hope For Humanity
When my life - or the world around me - is spiraling out of control, I have always turned to makeup as a method of free therapy. Whether it's ogling it and buying it or spending an exorbitant amount of time applying it, I find playing with the wide ranges of formulas, shades, and textures soothing. So when I woke up this morning to find a video demonstrating the use of a hard-boiled egg to dab on foundation, I had only one reaction: what the f*ck?!
Seriously, why is this happening? Like many of you, I was next-level obsessed when I figured out how to properly use my Beautyblender and felt that my makeup routine was transformed forever. I also understood when some devotees of the tool defected and tried other application techniques. After all, one of the best parts about beauty is that there are always innovations and improvements to try out!
But then people started taking the hacks too far. Don't get me wrong, I saw definite logic to the videos using push-up bra inserts as blending tools, as they were almost identical to those popular silicone sponges. But testing tampons as makeup sponges? Both counterintuitive (cotton is absorbent, so you're wasting foundation!) and uneconomical (tampons aren't cheap, OK?). And now, the beauty community has moved on to eggs.
PopLuxe founder Nadi just started a new series where fans ask him to use "random-ass" items to apply his makeup, and first up in this challenge were hard-boiled eggs. No, it's not hurting anyone. Yes, this is America, land of the free to do whatever you want with your hard-boiled eggs. But is this protein-laden sponge alternative truly going to replace a Beautyblender in your makeup bag?
As Nadi demonstrated above, the egg falls apart while you're using it, leaving crumbles all over your skin while you work. (Good for a tossed salad; bad for a beat face.) That means you need to use several eggs in just one application session. The frustrating shelling process alone would put me off. Nadi pointed out that they are refreshingly cold, but also slimy sometimes, and make expensive makeup smell like sulfur.
Also, is the average person really going to eat a foundation-stained hard-boiled egg? I get that egg prices are at an all-time low, but last time I checked, foundation isn't a tasty condiment. And if you don't plan on consuming your egg-sponge, that's just wasteful. (Not to be all, "people are starving around the world," but, you know, people are starving around the world.)
Overall, I applaud Nadi for being brave enough to try this out (and R.I.P. to his Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat), but I beg of you, don't play with your food. Play with your makeup as the beauty gods intended. But if you feel hollow inside because you just need to apply your foundation with your food before you die, may I propose using a ripe plum tomato? It's perfectly smooth, egg-shaped, lightly squishy, and can even be refrigerated so you can get that cooling experience. But furthermore, you can peel that sh*t and make some pasta or pizza with it once you're done getting glam.
How to Clean Your Makeup Brushes With Household Ingredients
We all know that it's bad for us to use dirty makeup brushes on our skin - come on, you wash your face twice a day, but how often do you actually give your tools the same kind of love? If you've been skipping because you're worried about hurting your brushes, we've got an easy DIY way to clean them all up safely. And don't forget to find the makeup brush that's right for you too!
Ingredients:
Olive oil
Antibacterial soap
Steps:
Step 1: Mix two parts antibacterial dish soap to one part of the extra-virgin olive oil on a clean plate (don't use paper plate, as the oil will seep through).
Step 2: Grab your first brush and wet it slightly with lukewarm water. Make sure the brush stays bristle-side down throughout the entire process. If water gets into the ferrule (the middle tube part that holds everything together) of the brush, it can loosen the glue, causing the bristles to fall out.
Step 3: Dip the damp brush into the soap mixture and coat it thoroughly. Next, work the mixture into the bristles using the palm of your hand and fingers. Continue until the soapy residue is makeup free.
Step 4: Rinse the brushes under lukewarm water until no soap runs from the bristles.
Step 5: Roll a dish towel like you would a yoga mat, and drape a paper towel over it so that most of the paper towel hangs off. (The paper towel should look like a slide coming down from the dish towel). Next, arrange the brush so the top of the handle sits on top of the towel, pitching the rest of the brush down onto the paper towel. This will allow your brushes to dry on a slant, while keeping moisture away from the ferrule.
Repeat with remaining brushes. Some make take two washings to get completely clean, depending on the amount of residue left behind. Allow them to dry overnight, and repeat about once a month.
This Is the Stupidest Mistake You Can Make at Whole Foods
I recently had the misfortune of discovering the most expensive item in the ready-made hot foods section of Whole Foods. Knowing everything is priced by the pound, I thought I was being smart and conscientious when I filled up the smallest container with mashed potatoes. "They surely couldn't charge more than $5 for a small box of potatoes, right?" I told myself.
I proudly walked the items up to the cash register, and the cashier weighed my tiny box. My stomach flopped when "$14" appeared on the screen. "Excuse me, sir. Did you accidentally rest your hand on the scale? I couldn't possibly have just scooped $14 worth of potatoes into that container," I said, trying to ease my discomfort. He chuckled and shook his head, "There's no mistake. The hot bar is the 'Whole' in 'Whole Paycheck,' hon." There was no chance I could abandon the container either. Once scooped, must purchase. I simultaneously felt robbed and like a complete idiot.
FYI, everyone, the hot bar is $8.99 a pound. Let it be known that the smallest container fills approximately 1.6 pounds worth of mashed potatoes. Also worth noting, the mashed potatoes from the hot bar are the same price in the hot deli: $8.99. I'm never, ever, ever going back to the Whole Foods hot bar . . . that is, until the 365 by Whole Foods store opens in my neighborhood and the hot bar is priced by the container size, not by weight. The same container at a 365 store would cost me $5.50, a MUCH more reasonable price for mashed potatoes.
Jennifer Aniston's Already Wearing the Shoe of the Summer
In the Summer of 2016, Jennifer Aniston kept her Burberry wedges on repeat. She bought them in two neutral colorways, a promising move to make when you know you've found a style that's comfortable and versatile.
The actress, who always maintains effortless street style, stepped out in West Hollywood, CA, in a pair of boyfriend jeans, a fitted military jacket, and Soludos leather sandals with an espadrille platform. While these shoes are a few inches lower than her Burberry pairs, they're certainly more suitable for running errands on a relaxing afternoon.
Scroll to take a look, then shop Jen's pair along with similar options, before she scoops up every colorway.
