Right or Wrong? We Find Out What Was Accurate in the Selena Movie

I remember the first time I watched Selena. My mom was obsessed with the Tejano singer, and she forced me to watch it with her. But she never had to force me again. I fell in love with her and wanted to know more, so I started looking into what actually happened - did those guys actually said "anything for Selenas"? We bet your curious, too.

Twenty years after its release, the Selena movie is definitely a cult classic - if you haven't watched it, run and do so now - but like every "based on a true story" film, there are some things that aren't 100 percent accurate. We did the research (so you don't have to) and found what the movie got right and what it got wrong. Selena's widow, Chris Perez, watched the movie in February 2017 and broke it down for us on his Facebook page and her dad opened up during an interview with Entertainment Tonight, so there would be no confusion. Read ahead.

Our Rainbow-Loving Hearts Are Gushing Over These Colorful, Sugary Churros

Let's be real for a second: churros are already pretty darn perfect in their most basic state. What's not to love about a tube of golden, fried dough slathered in cinnamon and sugar, am I right? But it looks like these tasty pastries just got a colorful, Instagram-ready upgrade, thanks to one sweets shop in California. The Loop specializes in handcrafted churros, offering its one-of-a-kind treats either dipped (in sauces like dulce de leche and Nutella), glazed (with toppings like chocolate or matcha crunch), or chilled (in soft-serve ice cream with other tantalizing toppings mixed in). Are you drooling yet?

Its latest crave-worthy creation is the Crystal Rainbow Churro Loop, a vibrant churro covered in rainbow sugar and served in vanilla soft serve with your choice of topping (like caramel popcorn, marshmallows, or Fruity Pebbles). Like, whoa. When The Loop started serving this delectable limited-edition goody, visitors couldn't help but share photos of their churros on social media because, well, just look at them!

13 Reasons Why: Here's the Guy Who Plays Your Crush, Jeff

13 Reasons Why has one of the strongest young ensemble casts we've seen in years. Katherine Langford and Dylan Minnette are the leads, Hannah and Clay, and they're surrounded by about a dozen high school students, each with their own story. One of the only relatively pure characters in the series - since just about everyone seems to have committed some mild-to-heinous act that pushes Hannah closer to suicide - is Jeff Atkins. He's the jock who Clay tutors in the library, and Jeff helps him with his dating life.

Jeff is played by 22-year-old Brandon Larracuente, who you may recognize from another Netflix drama: Bloodline. Larracuente starred in both season one and two as Ben Rayburn, John and Diana's son.

The New York-born actor has had a handful of small roles over the past few years (like "Attentive Kid" in Max Steel), but that's about it. You can catch him in Baywatch this Summer, if you're eagle-eyed enough to spot him as "Skateboarder #1." He also has a bit part in Bright, Netflix's upcoming thriller starring Will Smith. At this point, it's safe to say Larracuente is an integral part of the Netflix family!

Even Diamond Experts Are Excited by the Size of Kirsten Dunst's Engagement Ring

Kirsten Dunst proudly showed off her engagement ring from Fargo costar Jesse Plemons, sitting front row at Couture Week, no less. It's no wonder she's excited, given the jewel's unique traits. The oval-shaped diamond is mounted in flashing yellow gold, and it's played up by complementing stones on each side of the band. Some editors and diamond experts estimate the piece to be a full three carats, ringing in around $80,000.

There's really no better place to compare notes on your most prized jewel than at Paris Haute Couture Week, and Kirsten did just that, as she and Arizona Muse caught up at the Ralph & Russo show. Read on to see Kirsten's ring shine against her romantic ivory dress, shop similar designs if you're so inclined, and check out how Kirsten recycled her old Oscars dress recently. It seems like right now, Kirsten's having quite the memorable style moment.

What Flamingo-Pink Eye Shadow Looks Like on Different Skin Tones

Hot pink is no longer a color to save for your lips and nails. This Summer, "flamingo pink" - as we've dubbed it - is going to be the shade you'll see on everyone's eyes. It's already popping up in tutorials from major YouTubers like Nikkitutorials and James Charles.

"As part of the blush bomb trend, neon pink has traveled from the cheeks to the eyes - think Lea Michele at the 2017 Grammys and Sophia Bush at the 2017 SAG Awards," said Kelli Bartlett, director of makeup artistry at GlamSquad. "The result is both electric and dreamy at the same time. We also saw the trend on the runway, so neon pink eyes are definitely having a moment."

When searching for your perfect shade, keep this in mind. "There is a wide range of pinks that can be worn on the eye, from neon pink to blushing berry," she said. "Pink shadow is especially complimentary on green and blue eyes. Darker skin tones should choose richer colors to ensure they pop."

Try Bartlett's picks: the shades Venetian Red and Love Letter from the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Eyeshadow Palette. She also recommends priming the eye before applying pink shadow to prevent the pigmented hue from staining the skin. For this, MAC Paint Pots are your best friend.

That said, there are rules for what to avoid. "The trend focuses on more vibrant pinks so stay away from anything too icy or precious, like baby pink," she explained. "Dialing up the drama with a rich pink hue is the way to go. Making sure the saturation is even and blended is the key to looking chic. For those who are nervous to rock the pink eye, focus on a wash of color on the brow bone to ease you into the trend. When in doubt, wear matching blush, eye, and lip color."

5 Big Questions We Have About the 13 Reasons Why Finale

Major spoilers for 13 Reasons Why below!

If you were one of the many, many people who binged 13 Reasons Why on Netflix over the weekend, then you're probably still in the throes of processing it all. The 13-episode-long drama about a group of teenagers dealing with the messy aftermath of the suicide of their classmate, Hannah Baker, is heavy, to say the least. The series was adapted from Jay Asher's 2007 YA novel of the same name, and concludes in roughly the same way, but there are a few storylines in the finale that seem to hint at a possible second season. Although fans of the book would probably argue that the story works best as a single-season TV show - what would episodes without Hannah's narration even look like? - let's take a minute to reflect on the biggest questions season one leaves us with.

I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant

I had to have a friend tell me I was pregnant over dinner.

There I was, chomping down on a taco at a Mexican restaurant, annoyed that they didn't serve margaritas, while lamenting my inability to get pregnant when she gave me a curious look.
"Kate, you are pregnant," she said, matter-of-factly.

I laughed it off. I had just finished telling her all the issues I'd been having with my body since going off my birth control pill:

I wasn't getting my period.
Yes, it's a telltale sign of pregnancy when you're "late," but mine didn't even show up. When I stopped taking birth control at the end of January after more than a decade of daily dosages, my body went through a roller-coaster recovery, one I assumed was still in progress. It was late March, and I still hadn't gotten a real, natural period. I had a few friends who waited months, one more than a year, to get their periods postpill, so I'd just assumed my menstrual cycle hadn't kick-started yet, either.

I'd put on weight.
I was definitely feeling a bit squidgy lately, but I'd attributed it to what most breathing adults blame - Winter. I let myself really enjoy the holidays, and when I noticed that those extra pounds hadn't shed off like they usually did by this point, I figured it was just my youthful metabolism closing up shop for good now that I'd turned 30.

I was exhausted.
All I wanted to do was nothing. The previous weekend was spent primarily on the couch, binge-watching Netflix in between spontaneous naps. One of the days, I never even got out of my pajamas. I certainly noticed that I was more lethargic than usual, but I blamed my slow-but-steady weight gain and, again, Winter. (It really is the ultimate scapegoat for being healthy, isn't it?)

My boobs were sore.
OK, I was probably in some form of denial about this one. Still, I'm not completely oblivious. I just attributed the symptom to something else. Tender breasts - along with irregular periods, weight gain, and lethargy - are typical side effects of getting off the pill.

No one was getting any.
Occasionally, some of these symptoms - including one day when I seemed to have superhuman abilities to smell the garbage in the trash chute down the hall of our apartment building (another shared symptom of going off the pill and pregnancy!) - would spur me to ask my husband if I might be pregnant. And then we'd have a good laugh. We'd hardly had any sex to speak of during this time due to crazy work schedules, my aforementioned laziness, and my crummy body image thanks to my aforementioned weight gain. Plus, although we had decided months ago to start trying to have a baby, we were waiting for me to get that elusive period before we really got down to business.

I wasn't nauseated.
I was certain I couldn't possibly have conceived because I hadn't had a single bout of morning sickness. Of course, it turns out it's actually more likely that pregnant women never experience any nausea - only 25 percent of women do.

So, there I was brushing off my friend's outlandish statement that I was, without a doubt, pregnant. I couldn't possibly be and not know it.

Turns out, I was. And I didn't.

The minute I got home from dinner, I took a pregnancy test, and it was positive. After my husband, this friend was the first person who heard the good news, though it wasn't exactly news to her.

Since then, when joking about the circumstances that led me to discovering I was having a baby, many people ask how I could have possibly not known. Sore boobs and weight gain?! Come on! It's obvious!

I can chalk some of it up to the fact that I was still nervous about getting pregnant, and maybe subconsciously, I blamed some of the more telling signs on the pill. But, the bigger issue was that I was more certain that something was wrong with my body than I was with the idea that it could be very much right, going through the normal, natural first stage of pregnancy.

Because I'd known people, this friend included, who'd had issues getting pregnant, I had spent the last few years with a sneaking suspicion that I could very well be infertile. I had absolutely no basis for it - other than the innumerable articles I'd read about age-related risk factors and the countless stories I'd hear of women struggling through IVF treatments - but it was nonetheless a genuine concern. Even now, I have friends who reveal to me that they're nervous they'll have trouble, including one who asked, "I spent my whole life trying not to get pregnant, but what if I never can?!" It was a thought I'd had so many times in recent years.

The truth is, women of a certain age and with a certain ticking clock are too inundated with all the noise of infertility when, according to the CDC, 96 percent of married women are blissfully fertile. Yes, conception issues are a possibility for women, and those issues become more likely with each passing year, but when that's all someone hears, they might begin to think that there's no chance they'll have an easy time of it.

Well, I clearly did. And very likely so will you.

8 Vegan Lipsticks That You Need to Add to Your Makeup Collection

Vegans tend to have beautiful skin (it makes sense since their plant-based diet has them taking in much more vitamins, antioxidants, water, and minerals than most people), and they can definitely get away with minimal makeup. Lipstick, however, is something every vegan babe needs in her makeup collection - even if she's a makeup minimalist. Why? Because even with flawless skin, a pop of color on the lips always completes a look and makes you feel sexy. Lip color goes a long way in the world of beauty, so read on for eight fabulous vegan lipsticks you must add to your makeup bag:

The Spaghetti Doughnut Has Arrived to Make All Your Carb Goals a Reality

Spaghetti doughnuts might have only existed in your imagination until now. The buzz-worthy food hybrid was created by Pop Pasta, a New York-based company that discovered an ingenious way to combine two of the most loved foods from both Italian and American culture. On its website, Pop Pasta notes that its signature spaghetti doughnut "combines a popular Neapolitan dish, the spaghetti pie (frittata di spaghetti) with an American food icon, the [doughnut]." Pop Pasta is serving up its spaghetti doughnuts at Smorgasburg, the Brooklyn food market where some of the trendiest food launches are sold each year, like the raindrop cake and ramen burger from years past.

Rest assured, there's no sweet pastry to be found anywhere near this doughnut. Instead, it's simply a doughnut-shaped serving of spaghetti, and it's pure savory, cheesy goodness. If you're wondering how it stays together without falling apart, traditional spaghetti pie is typically made with a binder of eggs. The Pop Pasta menu has spaghetti doughnuts in a variety of classic Italian flavors, like aglio e olio, red sauce, carbonara, bolognese, and zucchini and garlic.

Essentially, the spaghetti doughnut is portable pasta that can be eaten on the go, which is completely brilliant. This year's Smorgasburg kicked off the first weekend in April, and carb-lovers are already showing off their spaghetti doughnuts and giving everyone else a case of FOMO. Ahead, see some of the most drool-worthy photos of the spaghetti doughnut in all its saucy glory.

This Magical Vibrating Mat May Be the Answer to Every Parent's Prayers

There's nothing more devastating (and quite frankly, more frustrating and annoying), than a fussy, inconsolable baby. When every attempt you make to soothe them has failed - they're not hungry, wet, or tired enough to doze off - it may seem like there's nothing to do but break down in tears yourself. Until now.

Enter: Tranquilo, the answer to all your parenting prayers.

The simple mat, which comes in both small ($85) and large ($100) sizes, is a portable solution to your fussy baby's needs. Not only does it vibrate (like a baby massage chair), it mimics the womb's sounds - think warm, white noise sounds. Although chairs and swings are also great for soothing baby, the Tranquilo doesn't require you break contact with your little babe. You can hold your child and the mat, allowing both the vibrations and your calming voice to settle them into a peaceful state.

Mom Janna Hulsey says she adores her Tranquilo mat. "I received this mat and it truly has helped my gassy baby girl," she wrote in a five-star review on the product's site. "A must-have baby item for sure. . . . Our baby girl lays on it before bed every night and we take it with us everywhere."

As Janna commented, you can use Tranquilo pretty much anywhere - in the car (over the baby's car seat buckles, not under), stroller, crib, and more. It truly aims to work where and when you need it most, aka whenever your baby is losing their sh*t for no apparent reason.

The 1 Thing You Should Always Bring to the Nail Salon

It's amazing what a great manicure can do for your mood - and what a not-so-great one can do. As someone who's been routinely visiting the nail salon for the better half of my life, there are a few tips and tricks that I've come up with. The best advice I can give anyone (and that I do tell people all the time) is: bring your own topcoat, and make it a good one.

Nail salons don't typically invest in great topcoats. They have so many clients that the business generally can't afford to buy top-notch top layers, given that it's one of the most frequently used products in the place. So even if you've brought in your special-edition Butter London polish, it's not going to last with a dull coat of sub-par top layer slapped on.

As for what to look for when selecting a topcoat, NYC-based nail artist Miss Pop Nails says that it's really a matter of preference. "As a nail artist, I prefer a topcoat that's thick or 'gel'-like because then it is easier to float, which means keeping the brush hairs away from directly stroking and potentially dragging any wet polish," she told us. "But some topcoats, no matter how much you try to float them or let your polish dry, will still cause streaking because of the solvents. It can be such a bummer to paint detailed line work only to have your topcoat muddy the design."

However, there are cases in which solvents (aka acetone or a similar ingredient that aids in dissolving polish) are beneficial. "If you're using an unforgivingly thick old bottle of color, matte polish, or you just plain aren't Picasso when it comes to painting your nails, then solvents can help you smooth your stroke and make your mani look like it was applied by a pro," Miss Pop shared.

Not only is the quality important, you have to make sure it's spread over your entire nail, especially the sides (seriously, be sure the sides are covered) and the tips, to avoid chipping - and yes, according to Miss Pop, quick-dry formulas DO chip faster.

For years, I depended on Sally Hansen's Mega Shine Extended Wear Top Coat ($7). You can pick it up at any drugstore, and it'll give your nails a gel-like finish without the price tag. It really does deliver on the "extended wear" promise, too.

Recently though, our beauty editor suggested I try a cult favorite, Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat ($10). This stuff is heavy duty! I've been doing more at-home manicures lately - I've been in a "I can do my own nails better than anyone else" phase - and by the time I started painting my nails on my right hand, my left hand was almost dry. It's thick and you have to make sure not to put too much on (otherwise it will pool and dry much more slowly), but it's fabulous.

Investing in an outstanding topcoat is a small price to pay for having a manicure that looks shinier and lasts days longer. If you're looking to step up your manicure further, however, Miss Pop recommends starting from the bottom. "I'd argue that base coat is the coat that is really makes your mani last a couple of days longer," she revealed. "You need a strong foundation to build a house, you need a solid base coat layer to start your mani."

Princess Diana and Prince Charles Only Went on 12 Dates Before Getting Engaged

Kate Middleton and Prince William's love story seems like a real-life fairy tale: girl has a crush on famous boy, girl meets boy at school, the two fall in love, get married, have kids, and she basically becomes a princess (or duchess, in her case). But while they seem to have the whole "we're in love" thing down, William's parents, Prince Charles and Princess Diana, didn't always find that so easy. The couple had a famously tumultuous relationship, something that began even before their lavish July 1981 wedding.

According to Sally Bedell Smith, the author of the biography Prince Charles: The Passions and Paradoxes of an Improbable Life, the two had a courtship more similar to The Bachelor than real life. Charles and Diana only went on 12 dates before he popped the question in February 1981. Sally reports that Charles looked at his grandparents, King George VI and Queen Elizabeth and their arranged courtship as an example and thought he could "learn to love" Diana as time went on like they had. He also had stated that he wanted to marry around the time he was 30 (he was 31 when he asked for Diana's hand) and was feeling pressure from his father to settle down. Obviously, their quick decision to marry didn't work out, and their split was finalized in 1996, just one year before Diana's untimely death.

9 Things You Never Knew About Your Child's Day at School, Straight From a Teacher

While parents understand that a lot happens in between dropping their child off at school and seeing them at the end of the day, many don't recognize exactly what it's like. Along with the books, tests, and classroom assignments, your child's world is revolving around actively turning into a little person within his or her classroom community. In order for parents to better relate to their children and understand their daily experiences, one anonymous teacher shared nine things about a typical school day that most parents don't realize - but should.

They turn into your mini me - for better or for worse.

Why your child acts or speaks a certain way usually all makes sense to teachers come parent-teacher conferences. But your mannerisms and expressions aren't the only things your little one brings to the classroom; they also share your team spirit, work ethic, and drive - or lack thereof. Your problems also have a way of creeping into your child's day and teachers as well as their friends definitely pick up on it. The impact of a fight you had that your little one overheard or a chaotic morning can be observed in your child even after you've forgotten about it.

Recess means something different for every child.

Most kids love recess, but it can be for two very different reasons. While this time is an opportunity to go outside and run around with friends, some embrace it as a chance to spend time with their teacher in a more personal setting. Sometimes recess is when your child is thriving on the court or making new friends, but it can also be when they are developing confidence and feeling secure in the classroom setting thanks to some extra time inside instead of out.

Just because they do it at home doesn't mean they can do it at school.

Oftentimes parents are frustrated with tests that are marked incorrect because they know their child can do it - they even saw them answering those questions correctly at home! However, this can be a warped sense of reality and parents need to understand what they see at home isn't what happens at school because of their involvement. Parents who hover too much during homework time or "help" with assignments are actually hurting their child's growth because when they have to do the same work at school (and independently), they don't know how. These kids don't know how to correctly answer questions in school even though they got them right at home because they don't know how to complete all of the steps with out some extra help from you. Your involvement outside of school can hurt them in the classroom and leave them struggling even more.

Every child has a role within the classroom community.

Your kids are essentially dealing the same politics that parents experience in the adult world. As kids interact within their classroom community, roles are unconsciously given and both kids and teachers work within these labels. Children know who the kind kid is if they're having a bad day, the troublemaker, and the good student, and they naturally embrace their own roles while finding where they fit. Where their spot is on the carpet is also a good indicator of their role - teachers often place the kids they can depend on to pay attention in the back or a shy child next to another who has a reputation for always being friendly. This gives students an equal opportunity to learn within those roles.

Hurt feelings aren't always a bad thing.

School isn't just about reading and writing; it's also about learning social skills that are equally important. During their time in the classroom, children are learning how to become people. Kids can be mean - oftentimes because they don't realize - but when your child's feelings get hurt during the day, it's an invaluable opportunity for them to learn how to react in an appropriate way and recover from the upset.

They blossom when you drop them.

Just because your child seems shy or clingy around you doesn't mean that's how they still are moments after you leave. Some children really do transform into completely different people when they aren't guided by you and it's important for parents to never assume that their child takes on the same role at school as they do at home.

There's way more joy than you realize.

Despite the dread of homework and agony of tests, school can be a bright area for your child. Kids still laugh and play throughout the day and within that, they are learning how to communicate, be good citizens, and work within a community. They might come home upset about the amount of work or a mean kid, but that doesn't mean that there weren't smiles and laughter during the day.

You're probably thinking about them way more than they're thinking about you.

Separation can be hard for some students, but despite the drop-off meltdowns, kids quickly forget the upset after their tears have dried. While many parents spend all morning thinking about how upset their child was and worrying about how he or she is doing, most kids quickly recover and don't realize how much they missed you until you are united again. Even if your child was hysterical when you said goodbye, chances are you weren't the focus of the rest of their day.

Their teacher has their best interests at heart - even if he or she is teaching them Common Core.

Most teachers are just as dedicated to your child's development as you are. Even if it seems like what your child is doing is a waste of time, you have to trust that your child is going to gain something from it, even if it wasn't what or how you learned. If your child comes home with what seems like a ridiculous assignment, often it's because his or her teacher doesn't have a choice in the matter and is embracing it to make the most of the learning opportunity for your kid.

Krispy Kreme and Ghirardelli Give You Permission to Eat Sugar For Breakfast

When Krispy Kreme and Ghirardelli combine, you know the result is going to be straight-up sugary deliciousness. When the two companies announced the collaboration and revealed two new, limited-edition doughnuts (Mint Chocolate and Sea Salt Caramel), we knew we had to get our hands on them ASAP. Two dozen doughnuts later, and the verdict is in: you're going to want to find some time in your schedule to treat yourself to one or both of the chocolaty doughnuts. Bonus points if the hot sign is on.

Our only potential complaint is that the doughnuts are so rich we can barely finish a whole one on our own (but that's to be expected). We'd suggest ordering one for two people, and each person's sweet tooth will be satisfied and then some.

Sea Salt Caramel

Holy sweet-salty explosion! We love that the perfect amount of salt balances out the otherwise supersweet doughnut. The inside is filled with silky salted caramel, and the chocolate-frosted top is drizzled with salted caramel and sprinkled with sea salt, amber sugar, and Ghirardelli mini chocolate chips. The crunchiness of the toppings complements the soft filling, and there's no shortage of flavor. As one of our editors noted, "The salty finish gives it a huge flavor boost, and the caramel adds deliciously gooey texture."

Mint Chocolate

Fans of the Ghirardelli Mint Chocolate Squares need to do themselves a favor and try this creation; it's like the candy in doughnut form. Filled with a White Mint Kreme filling inspired by Ghirardelli, the doughnuts are also dipped in chocolate icing, decorated with green colored icing, and topped with Ghirardelli mini chocolate chips. To top it all off, each doughnut is dusted with powdered sugar. If you're in the mood for a serious sugar rush, you'll undoubtedly appreciate this overload of sugary, chocolaty bliss.

The Best Thing You Can Buy at Zara Right Now

Scanning Zara for fresh deliveries has become my daily vice. But what's that they say - persistence pays off? Indeed. They're probably referring to mastering a new workout or learning a language or something, but scanning the virtual racks for new inventory, I stumbled upon, quite possibly, the best Zara purchase of all time - or at the least, of this season - and the same was true of my shopping experience.

There, sandwiched somewhere in the middle of the sprawling "what's new" section, a striped menswear-style button-down struck me. I paused, hovered over the look: "Multiposition striped shirt" ($50). Multiposition? That's code for a three-in-one shirt. Yep, three distinct ways to wear this $50 purchase, taking you from work to happy hour to weekend and anywhere else you can think of. Don't take my word for it - read on for the ways to wear it and shop it before everyone else catches on.

The Harmful Effects of Instant Ramen Noodles

Yes, you know that instant ramen isn't good for you, but studies have confirmed just how harmful the prepackaged food can really be. A study in the Journal of Nutrition links instant noodle consumption with heart risk, particularly in women. The researchers conducted a study in South Korea, where consumption of instant noodles is the highest in the world, with more than 10,700 people ranging in age from 19 to 64. The results? "Women who consume instant noodles frequently were found to be more likely to have metabolic syndrome - the group of risk factors, including obesity and high blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar, that increase the risk of heart disease and diabetes."

The harmful effects were predominantly found in women and not men. Part of the study reads, "Women - though not men - who ate instant noodles at least twice a week showed a 68 percent higher risk of metabolic syndrome," which is a syndrome that can increase the risk of heart attacks and strokes.

The high sodium content in instant noodle products is obvious, but the main culprit is the noodles themselves. In another study by Dr. Braden Kuo, director of the gastrointestinal motility laboratory at Massachusetts General Hospital at Harvard University, the doctor found unsettling results after testing digestion of the noodles. He used a tiny camera to study the breakdown of instant ramen noodles in the stomach and found out just how difficult it is for your body to digest the preservative-filled noodles. Warning: the photos are graphic. A preservative called TBHQ, which is found in many processed foods including Reese's and Chicken McNuggets, extends shelf life of fatty foods and makes them harder to digest. It's one of the many ingredients in Maruchan Chicken Ramen.

If you're hopelessly devoted to instant ramen (and it's a budget-friendly staple in your life), all hope is not lost. Dr. Frank B. Hu, a professor of nutrition and epidemiology at Harvard, told The New York Times, "Once or twice a month is not a problem, but a few times a week really is."

Moral of the story: eating college-friendly instant ramen is OK, but moderation is key.

8 Ways Anyone Can Make Running Feel Easier

Running can be an endorphin-loaded energy boost to your day with just a little creativity and willingness to experiment. If your runs feel sluggish, uncomfortable, or just too difficult, it may be time to try something new.

1. Meditate

If you've been looking for a reason to meditate, this is it. Meditation is all about controlling and observing your breath. Often a run feels difficult because the breath is out of sync. A short meditation to visualize your run before you head outdoors will help you return to an effortless breathing pattern when a run starts to feel difficult, making the rest of your run far easier and more comfortable.

2. Fuel Properly and Cautiously

Nothing derails a run faster than stomach cramps or the sudden sprint to find a public restroom or quiet, tree-lined corner of the fitness trail! Avoid an unnecessary pit stop by fueling cautiously by your run. You can enjoy a healthy snack of easily digestible carbs, but avoid anything that looks, smells, or tastes like grease or junk.

3. Get the Gear That Fits Your Body and Goals

The right pair of shoes and gear can make all the difference in the quality and comfort of your run. Take the time to visit your local running store for customized advice on the shape of your foot and your mileage goals. Having the right gear not only makes running easier but also keeps your feet happy and healthy.

4. Sign Up For a Race

If you want to be a runner but have a hard time motivating yourself to hit the pavement, it's probably time to sign up for a race. Whether you run a local race and discover the local running community or pick a destination race that lets you experience a new place, adding a race to your calendar may reignite a passion for running. If you don't feel ready to race, consider volunteering to support a local charity race. Just being around runners can be motivating!

5. Find Your Distraction

If your standard playlist is getting stale, consider experimenting with podcasts or audiobooks for longer runs. Getting wrapped up in a murder mystery or an inspirational audiobook might distract you enough that the miles fly by with less effort. No matter what audio distraction you choose, keep the volume low enough that you can remain alert to your surroundings and traffic on your route.

6. Roll It Out

According to Natalie Carey, a certified personal trainer at Diakadi in San Francisco, CA, runners should be foam rolling after every single run. During a run, microtears form in the muscles. It's not as scary as it sounds, according to Carey, but is perfectly normal. Improper running form can lead to microtears healing imperfectly, causing knots to form in the muscles runners most rely upon. Foam rolling breaks up the knots and allows the muscles to hear properly, leaving them stronger than before.

Carey advises her running clients to use the foam for 15 to 30 minutes after a run, and to make use of their time by foam rolling while watching television. If you're pinched for time, make sure you at least roll out your IT band, the muscle that runs on the side of your leg from your glutes to your knees. That one simple move could eliminate most of the recurring running injuries that keep runners sidelined.

7. Celebrate Every New Milestone

Some days you celebrate a PR or a marathon finish line, some days you celebrate running a mile in the rain. Whatever your level of fitness or whatever your long-term goals might be, there's something to celebrate in every run. Some days you may just celebrate the fact that you went for a run instead of hitting happy hour!

8. Run More

Sorry, but the harsh reality is that you simply have to keep running for running to get easier. The more you run, the more efficient your body becomes at the process. Your legs will get stronger, your mind will be tougher, and your lungs will become more efficient. Some day you'll realize that what was once your goal distance is now your warm up.

Ever daydream about meeting your celebrity crush and making them instantly fall in love with you? While that seems like a lovely thought for most people, that's exactly what happened for Jason Momoa and wife Lisa Bonet. The pair has been making us swoon with their romance for more than 11 years now, and the beginning of their love story is just as magical as the memories they've shared in the years since they met. After watching her on The Cosby Show while growing up, the Justice League actor admits his crush on her stayed with him until they were finally introduced in 2005. "I was definitely . . . that was the first time when I was like, 'I want that one. I want her. I'm going to get her,'" he told Katie Couric of watching the show in 2014. "I didn't tell her until after we had our two children. But I told her . . . 'I kinda stalked ya. I was going to find ya.'"

Jason also opened up about the exact moment they crossed paths in 2005, telling The YBF, "We met through mutual friends. But when I first met her, she didn't know I was a stalker, but I was. I was with one of my best friends and when I turned around, and they were going to introduce us, literally, like, fireworks. She said, 'Hi, I'm Lisa,' and I said, 'Hi, I'm Jason,' and I just turn around to my buddy like . . . [freaking out]. Inside, I was like a little girl and I [deepened my voice] and tried to pull it together. She definitely makes me shy." It's official: nobody will ever be as romantic as Jason Momoa.

How to Get the Signature J.Crew Look Jenna Lyons Made Famous

A signature J.Crew outfit - complete with a shirt, sweater, coat, trousers, and shoes - is carefully considered, but appears effortless. That's what's so intriguing about the brand's signature styling: there's a method to the "polished madness." In order to strike that perfect balance you see on the mannequins when you walk in the store or on the company's Instagram page, you've got to be open to trial and error.

We talked to J.Crew's head stylist, Gayle Spannaus, who painted a very pretty picture for us when we asked her about the look. "I always like to start with a classic white shirt, a stripe, and a piece of denim. Those are the building blocks!" So what comes next? Mixing. "It's tom girl style, mixing high with low, feminine with masculine, and trendy with evergreen. We always say 'the magic is in the mix,'" Gayle explained.

All it takes is throwing on, say, a splashy pattern with stripes and a ruffled skirt, then seeing how it all comes together. Too many colors? Break them up with a neutral tailored coat. Too simple? Tie a bright cardigan around the waist of your jeans. 5 Bloody Details About the Sharp Objects TV Show

There are plenty of book-to-TV adaptations on the horizon in 2017, but perhaps one of the most exciting entries is Sharp Objects. Based on the novel by Gone Girl author Gillian Flynn, the new show has already involved Flynn herself, signed a talented cast, and landed an esteemed network. Curious to know how far along the project is? We've got all the details below.

1. The Story

In the book, Camille Preaker is an emotionally unstable journalist who has just finished a brief stay in a psychiatric hospital. She gets an assignment to cover a string of murders in her hometown. There's no word on how closely the series will follow the novel.

2. Gillian Flynn's Involvement

The author will executive produce the series and is even on board to write a few episodes.

3. The Network

The project has been snagged by HBO, which is pretty exciting news. After all, the network has proven it can handle a big mystery novel with its adaptation of Big Little Lies, which is already getting favorable reviews. (It has a 75 on Metacritic and 88 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.) Suffice it to say, Sharp Objects is in good hands.

4. The Cast

Amy Adams has been cast as Camille, the main character who returns to her hometown. This month Patricia Clarkson was added to the cast as Camille's mother Adora, who is serves as an antagonistic force to her daughter.

The Director

After successfully adapting Big Little Lies for HBO, director Jean Marc Vallée is taking the reins on Sharp Objects.

That's all for now, stay tuned for a premiere date!

The Walking Dead: How We Could Have Seen That Big Finale Death Coming

Warning: spoilers below!

The Walking Dead followed through on its promise to kill off a main character during the season seven finale, and it'll take us a while to get over the loss. We speculated about who would be the victim, and we weren't surprised when Sasha took a hit for the team and turned herself into a walker in a last-ditch effort to screw over Negan. Looking back on Negan's mini speech to Sasha at the beginning of the episode, we should have seen it coming. Knowing what we know now, take a look at what he says.

"You are gonna help make sure things get back on track today. You are smart, hot as hell, dignified as sh*t, and you don't suffer one godd*mn fool. No one's gonna wanna watch you die; I don't wanna see that. So, you don't have to. But someone does. Maybe a couple of us, tops. But not you, and not most people. We are gonna help solve some sh*t."

Sasha does help things get back on track, just not for Negan. She helps "solve some sh*t" for Rick's crew, because that's where her true alliance lies. His compliments to Sasha, though twisted, are true. No one wants to see her die, and in a literal sense, no one does; we see her alive, then we see her once she's turned. Sasha dies in the coffin on her own terms, listening to music of her choice and protecting her family.

While Negan doesn't watch her die, she puts her death directly in his face. By taking the pill and attacking him, she may as well be saying, "Oh, you think I'm pretty and you don't want to see me die? F*ck you."

Hats off to the writers for this subtle foreshadowing.

The 9 Biggest Differences Between the Big Little Lies Novel and TV Show

When news broke that HBO was taking the reins in adapting Liane Moriarty's beloved mystery novel Big Little Lies, many wondered how the resulting miniseries might turn out - would the casting be on point? Would it still take place in Australia? Would the story still end with a shocking, twisted death? After watching nearly the entire season, we can confirm that the show is not only exceptionally entertaining but also mostly faithful to the book. There are some key differences, though, which range from fairly minor to pretty major.

1. It's no longer set in Australia.

Perhaps the biggest difference is that Big Little Lies has been uprooted from the small, coastal Australian town of Pirriwee to posh Monterey, CA, though the core story is still the same: Jane Chapman (Shailene Woodley) moves there with her son, Ziggy, from Santa Cruz to start a new life. Monterey is also a seaside town, and each episode is full of gorgeous ocean shots and lush, green and blue tones. Celeste Wright (Nicole Kidman) might have been the only one with real wealth in the book, but in the TV show, everyone who lives in Monterey (with the exception of Jane) also seems to have boatloads of money, which you can't miss thanks to the reels and reels of house-porn footage we're treated to in each episode (seriously - everyone who lives there has an oceanfront mansion?!).

2. Pirriwee Public gets an update.

Pirriwee Public is the school at the root of all of the events that go down in the novel, but in the show, it's Otter Bay Public. Don't worry, though, because there's still just as much (if not more) drama between the kindergarten parents and teachers at the ritzy public school to keep you entertained. The only big thing to note is that the vicious "Blond Bobs" (a group of rude, gossipy kindergarten mothers with matching haircuts) didn't make it into the show (Harper is still there to cause trouble, only she does it with long, brown hair).

3. Madeline doesn't have a son.

Incredibly girlie and dramatic, Madeline Martha Mackenzie (Reese Witherspoon) makes for one of the book's most interesting main characters. She's married to Ed (played by Adam Scott in the miniseries), and on top of her daughters, Chloe and Abigail, she also has a mischievous son named Fred. Unfortunately for him, his character doesn't exist in the miniseries.

4. The book's fringe characters are more fleshed out.

Renata Klein is a high-powered career woman and mother of a little girl in Ziggy's kindergarten class at Pirriwee Public and also Madeline's main nemesis throughout the book. We only ever view her through the eyes of the book's main three characters - Jane, Madeline, and Celeste - but she gets a big makeover in the show. Laura Dern plays her, and she's a major character with her own backstory and scenes that make her a much more sympathetic figure, cluing us into her motivations and family life. Ed, Nathan (Madeline's ex-husband, played by Revenge's James Tupper), and Bonnie (Nathan's chill, yogi wife, played by Zoë Kravitz) also get more time in the spotlight. This works to varying effect, since you might find yourself itching to get back to the main drama surrounding Jane, Madeline, and Celeste in the scenes focusing on the others. Overall, it gives us a much more well-rounded set of characters.

5. Madeline's job with the community theater is a big part of the show.

In the novel, Madeline references her part-time job helping out in the marketing department of the local theater a few times in passing, but we don't really get to see her in action. The show turns that small part of her life into its own full-blown storyline, with her fighting against fellow kindergarten mom Renata for the right to put on a controversial production of Avenue Q.

6. Ed and Madeline's relationship is much more strained.

Although Ed and Madeline seemed to be comfortable in their suburban family rut in the book, their marriage faces quite a few more ups and downs in the miniseries. Scott and Witherspoon work well together on screen and really sell the rougher, realistic bumps their relationship stumbles over, but any fans of their loving romance in the book might come away from the show disappointed.

7. Madeline is having an affair.

Madeline's affair with Joseph, the director of the Avenue Q production, never happens in the book. Naturally, neither does the car accident they get into or Joseph's insistence that they leave their spouses so they can be together. "I didn't have anything to play but perfection, and I just think those people who are perfect [are] all full of sh*t," Witherspoon, who executive produced the show, explained to Variety about her character's new story arc. "[The change] mainly came out of me not having anything to really put my teeth into. I think there's something fascinating about a person who projects perfection or is very judgmental of others who is clearly just swimming in their own discontent."

8. Perry appears more sympathetic.

A subtler change to the show is that it's just a little bit harder to hate Perry (Alexander Skarsgard) for abusing Celeste. He comes across as much more fragile and willingly attends therapy with his wife to try to work on their marriage (in the book, Celeste sees a therapist solo). During their session with the therapist, it genuinely seems like he wants to change, even if it soon becomes clear that it's impossible for him.

9. Bonnie doesn't confess.

In the book, Bonnie confesses to having pushed Perry over the edge, and receives community service for the kind-of-sort-of accidental death. There's also a subplot about her having grown up with an abusive father, which explains why she so easily snaps when she sees the scuffle.

The Walking Dead: Everything We Know About Season 8

Before the seventh season of The Walking Dead was even halfway over, AMC renewed the show for season eight. This means we've got plenty of apocalyptic zombie horror to look forward to, all the way through mid-2018. So, if you were feeling bored by the recent season's single storyline pacing, or find yourself looking far, far ahead to a time when Glenn's tragic, graphic death is a distant memory, season eight is the place to go. Let's go over what we know so far.

The Season Will Kick Off With the Show's 100th Episode

Typically, it's a huge deal when any TV show hits this triple-digit benchmark. It must be especially true for TWD, seeing as pretty much every season has been only 16 episodes in length. Considering this accomplishment is also a season premiere, chances are the show could pull out all the stops in a way they might never have before.

Negan Will Play a Big Part

During an interview with Howard Stern, actor and Negan portrayer Jeffrey Dean Morgan confirmed that Negan will still be a big deal, even after season seven concludes. "I know I will be on board for season eight," Morgan said. "We've finished [season seven] a week ago. The next two, I'm really big in. I'm f*cking heavy in those." It makes sense, now that war is officially on. Especially if you know what happens to Negan in the comic books.

We Can Venture a Guess at What Might Happen

Based on what happens in the comics, there's a very strong possibility that season eight will entirely consist of the huge war against the Saviors. If that wraps up in the first half of the season, however, there are more dangers are lurking on the horizon. In the comic books, the next evil group is called the Whisperers. And they're just as terrible as Negan and the Saviors, if not more so.

Whatever Happens Will Be "Intense"

During Talking Dead, AMC's aftershow, showrunner Scott Gimple said, "The first four episodes will melt people's minds and break their televisions."

It Will Be Back This Fall

AMC confirmed that it will be back in the Fall, and seeing as every single season of The Walking Dead has premiered in mid to late October, it's safe to assume we'll get season eight then as well.

Like Them or Not, Pierced Nails Are Totally Making a Comeback

It might be 2017, but we still can't seem to forget about those glorious days spent wearing flannels and jamming out to Nirvana. The '90s have already made a reappearance in the form of grungy makeup looks, and now it looks like the unforgettable decade is finding its way to our fingertips.

Whether you like them or not, pierced nails are back - and they're even better than they were 20 years ago. For those of you scratching your heads in confusion about combining "pierced" and "nails" in the same phrase, allow us to quickly refresh your memory of this intriguing nail trend. Pierced manicures were catapulted into the spotlight back in the '90s when Janet Jackson notably rocked them in the music video for "What's It Gonna Be?!" alongside Busta Rhymes. The trend seemingly fizzled into the background during the early 2000s, until this year when Kim Kardashian resurrected them from the ashes (not once, but twice).

Now, just because one celebrity posts a photo of something on Instagram doesn't necessarily mean a trend has officially made a comeback. So we did some good old-fashioned investigating to find out whether pierced nails are actually rearing their heads once again. A quick browse through the social media world reveals that yes, they are, in fact, back with a vengeance. Though nail piercings may look impractical for everyday wear, the throngs of mani mavens currently sporting them (and showing them off on Instagram) these days have us thinking quite the contrary.

When it comes to pierced nails, the options are truly endless. Sometimes they're just small, simple hoops punctured through the tip of acrylic nails, but other pierced manicures have pendants or jewels hanging from them. Read on to catch a glimpse of some of the coolest nail piercings we've seen so far.

President and Creative Director Jenna Lyons Is Leaving J.Crew

After 26 years at J.Crew, President and Executive Creative Director Jenna Lyons is leaving the brand.

"It has been beyond my wildest dreams to work with such an amazing team of people at such an incredible brand and alongside Mickey - one of retail's most talented visionaries," Jenna said in a statement from the brand. "I am excited about the next chapter for J.Crew as well as the opportunity for other creative leaders within the organization to step up and take on new responsibilities. Having spent the better part of my life with J.Crew, I feel an immense pride and love for everyone at the company."

The creative mastermind was known for her "borrowed from the boys," look and it was her personal style that influenced the designs season after season at J.Crew. It's no secret she loved mix-and-match pairings and sequins. Just a glance at the current Fall 2017 collection and you'll feel Jenna's spirit. While the brand won't be replacing her, Somsack Sikhounmuong, who is currently head of women's design, will be promoted to chief design officer. For now, Jenna will serve as a creative advisor until her contract ends in December 2017.

Why Do Dads Suck at Grocery Shopping? This Mom Has a Conspiracy Theory

When Husbands Go Grocery Shopping

When Husbands Go Grocery Shopping - The struggle is real.
Share if you relate!

Posted by MyLifeSuckers on Tuesday, March 28, 2017

"Let's talk about husbands and grocery shopping," blogger Deva Dalporto said at the start of her latest candid rant. In the video shown above for My Life Suckers, an exacerbated Deva attempted to figure out why her husband - a man with a degree in nuclear engineering - is so damn bad at picking up a few groceries.

For starters, Deva lamented the amount of phone calls she receives from her husband, adding, "You have to guide them step-by-step." Then, there's the food they end up bringing back with them. Deva explained, "Three hours later, he shows up at home without anything that you asked for. Instead of any staples, he's got bags and bags of snacks - and beer."

That's when Deva introduced a "massive conspiracy" theory of hers. Explaining that she doesn't think it's possible that her husband is that "incompetent" at grocery shopping, she said, "I think it's a massive conspiracy that the men of the world are playing on us women - and it's working! Because if they act incompetent, we won't make them go." Listen to her incensed rant in its entirety above.
