The Best Diet For Weight Loss, According to Harvard Studies
A Mediterranean diet yields a number of health benefits, and it's been recently confirmed to be the best for weight loss. Based on five Harvard Medical studies, this diet is the most effective for shedding pounds in comparison to a low-fat diet, a low-carb diet, and the American Diabetes Association (ADA) diet. Heavy in fruits, vegetables, grains, olive oil, and beans, and low in meat, dairy, and eggs, the Mediterranean diet is also beneficial for your heart, eyes, and brain function.
The Diet That Keeps You Young
During the study, 998 overweight trial participants who lived on the Mediterranean diet for a year lost between 9 and 22 pounds. Both the low-carb and ADA diet had similar results, while those on the low-fat diet lost between 6 and 11 pounds. Although the article doesn't determine a single diet that's ultimate for weight loss, it does conclude that the Mediterranean diet would be the closest option because of its heart-healthy benefits.
Whether or not these findings convince you to change your ways, try at least incorporating this diet for days you want to eat clean.
The Obama Girls Have Grown Up Before Our Eyes
Barack and Michelle Obama's little girls, Malia and Sasha, aren't so little anymore! As the nation's most public mom when she was First Lady, Michelle always tried to connect with other Americans raising their kids. Malia was just 10 when Barack was elected, and Sasha was 7. "My life is no different from any other working mother. Mine is just more public," the former First Lady Michelle Obama told us back in 2012, adding, "Some of us have more resources than others, but the pain, the challenges, the fears of motherhood, the frustrations of being a woman, the hopes and dreams that you have for your daughters, and all our daughters are the same." As the former first family adjusts to private life, let's take a look at the Obama girls' family photo album.

A Minute Staring at This Bride's Wedding Gown, and You'll Swear You Stepped Into a Fairy Tale
As part of the sister duo behind luxury retailer Avenue 32, it probably comes as no surprise that Maya Benteler's wedding was every fashion girl's dream come to life. The British beauty's nuptials began with a civil cermony, then a breathtaking church wedding and reception, with the requisite outfits to accompany each.
Maya kicked things off in a chic white sheath for her courthouse nuptials but gave the look a statement-making twist with a leopard coat and ankle-wrap heels. The wedding gown itself was far more traditional, a long-sleeved tulle and lace creation that looks entirely fit for a princess, while husband Christian Staubach was a dead ringer for Prince Charming in his polished three-piece suit.
And because any stylish bride knows the importance of beautiful bridesmaid dresses, Maya's wedding party was decked out in lovely matching floral-print gowns and flower crowns that made the wedding feel that much more like a fairy tale. The gorgeous Austrian landscape didn't hurt, either. Read on to see the stunning looks in full.

Why Jon Snow and Daenerys Will End Up Together on Game of Thrones
We've got a precious few episodes left on Game of Thrones, and all we can do is sit here helplessly and figure out how everything will end. Based on the latest teaser, called "Long Walk," it seems the final two seasons will be all about the competing powers of Jon Snow, Cersei Lannister, and Daenerys Targaryen. Now, take into consideration a quote Cersei herself once said. "When you play the game of thrones, you win or you die." We always thought this could mean one thing: only one ruler will come out on top. But what if we've got it all wrong?
Consider this: what if Jon and Daenerys come together with the common goal to defeat Cersei and rid the Seven Kingdoms of the Lannisters for good? Both characters have proven their willingness to gain allies; Jon has united with the Wildings, the Knights of Vale, and more, while Dany of course controls the Unsullied and recently solidified her bond with the Greyjoys. Then that got us thinking: what if they totally just get married and rule Westeros together? Think we're crazy? We have a few reasons to believe it's not out of the question.
- Taking it back to A Song of Ice and Fire. This is one of the most classic Game of Thrones theories. The phrase itself comes from George R.R. Martin, and it's actually the title of the book series Game of Thrones is based on. Many speculate that this phrase refers directly to Jon (ice) and Daenerys (fire). Basically, by having them in the title, it would mean both of them are part of the final "end game."
- Well . . . they are both single. Sorry, but it's true. Jon lost Ygritte, and Dany lost Khal Drogo. Jon hasn't taken a lover since, and although Dany had Daario for a while, they pretty much called it quits at the end of season six. Maybe Dany and Jon are just destined to be.
- They will definitely meet this season. Right, but how could they be meant for each other if they're on opposite sides of the world? Actually, they're closing distance on each other in the new season. In fact, some set pictures from last year confirm they'll actually meet in person! Things could definitely heat up between them.
- They both sort of have a claim to the throne. Season six confirmed the theory that Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen are Jon's parents. Seeing as the Baratheon-Lannisters have the claim to the throne, they would be first in line to take hold. But Joffrey and Tommen Lannister are dead, and so are Stannis and Renly Baratheon. Once Cersei's gone, none of them would be left. This means a Targaryen would have claim to the throne, since the last ruler before Robert Baratheon was a Targaryen. Jon is a male heir, but he's also only technically half Targaryen. Dany, on the other hand, is female but a pure-blooded Targaryen. You could make an argument for either one.
- It kind of makes sense in general. Assuming Cersei does get killed or defeated, it does make sense for Dany and Jon to rule together. When you take everything above into consideration, it seems like the most possible solution. They've both proven to be brave but inexperienced rulers. Together, though, they could really soar. They may not fall in love, they may not get married, but at the very least, this is the smartest political move. Here's to JONERYS!

Mom's Message to Parents on Their Bad Days: "Pat Yourself on the Back"
Cassie Hilt is a busy mama of two who isn't pretending that every day with her kids is perfect - in fact, she admits that a lot of days are overwhelming to the point of exhaustion. Days when there are a million chores to be done and her kids are arguing, whining, and seeking her attention. However, Hilt wants to remind other parents that even on their worst days, their children love them unconditionally and that surviving another day of parenting should always be celebrated.
"There are days where I cannot wait to get the kids ready and into bed. Sleeping. So that I can rest. And breathe. There are days when I feel like I am just not enough for them. That they deserve more of my attention, more of my love, more of my time," Hilt wrote in Facebook in a post featuring a sweet black-and-white photo of her kids sleeping. "And then these moments happen. These moments where they look so adorable and perfect that make me think, I must have done something right. Something great, to be blessed with these amazing little humans. They love me on my worst days, and on my best."
Hilt ends her post with a message to all of her fellow overwhelmed moms: "So to all the moms having a hard day, just remember . . . we are tougher on ourselves than they are on us. Peek in on your sleeping babes tonight, give them a kiss, and give yourself a pat on the back. You survived another day, and you are blessed with an amazing gift - your child's love."

The 1 Thing You Should Try Adding to Your Scrambled Eggs
Some people add milk to their scrambled eggs, some prefer heavy cream, and some scramble them in bacon fat. Even if you think you've tried it all, there's one sneaky ingredient you might not have added before, and that's worcestershire sauce. I found this idea in a Facebook comment on our post about how chefs scramble eggs, and I knew I wanted to try it myself because I'm a huge fan of the incredibly savory condiment. The sauce, which is typically used for steak and Bloody Marys, is made of anchovies (yes, really), garlic, vinegar, molasses, salt, onions, chili peppers, and other spices.
So how does it taste in scrambled eggs? It's interesting, but in a good way - I totally approve. I recommend adding 1/4 teaspoon of worcestershire sauce per two eggs and whisking everything together well before cooking your eggs low and slow. The sauce is already really salty, so you don't need to add any more salt. The eggs develop a slightly tangy, smoky, umami-rich flavor that's unlike any scrambled egg I've had before. If you have worcestershire sauce on hand anyway, give this a try. It just might become your favorite scrambled eggs recipe.
7 Things You Don't Know About Panera Bread, Straight From an Employee
If you've ever wondered what it's like behind the counter at Panera Bread, you'll enjoy the insider secrets from this employee's Reddit AMA. During the "Ask Me Anything" conversation online, a person who works at Panera Bread answered questions about the truth about the crazy-delicious mac and cheese, the one thing you should avoid ordering, and what the company does with all its unsold bread at the end of the day. Here are the answers to some of your burning Panera Bread questions, straight from someone who knows best.
The reason the mac and cheese is SO good is . . . calories.
When asked why the mac and cheese is "so f*cking good," the Panera employee said, "It's very good because it isn't that healthy for you. It has a lot of calories tbh."
Also, it arrives at the store frozen.
"They aren't lying when they say that all their food is 100 percent clean so nothing is bad for you. However, that doesn't mean that all the food is good for you. The mac and cheese, for example, comes into the store premade and frozen in a bag and it is heated either in boiling water or the microwave if need be."
There are two things customers do that drive employees CRAZY.
"Two things. The first is when we make a small mistake and they completely lose their minds. If we make a mistake of any kind, we'll do everything that we can to fix it and make it up to you, no need to cause a scene just because we forgot to give you a fork. The second is when customers come in 10 minutes before close and order a ton of food then eat in store."
The one thing you should never order past lunchtime? Avocado.
"Avacados usually sit out open for a number of hours. They are fine around lunchtime but as the day goes on, they get older."
The employee discount is really good.
"I honestly would never eat at Panera if I didn't have an employee discount (70 percent)."
Your soup could possibly get sneezed in if you annoy the employees . . .
When asked, "How many sneezes per soup?" the employee responded, "Depends on how annoying the customer is." Hopefully, that's a joke!
Panera donates all of its extra bread at the end of the day.
"Yes, at the end of the day we donate all our unused bread to a homeless shelter."

The 1 Change I Made to Cure 10 Years of Feeling Bloated
Entering college was supposed to be all bliss and excitement, but I had such terrible digestive issues, I wouldn't dare stray far from my dorm bathroom. It was so embarrassing, feeling so bloated and being so gassy, the only person I could confide in was, of course, my mother. In her thick Long Island, NY, accent she said, "Aww, yaw just nervous. You'll feel bettah soon."
But months later, nothing had changed. I felt happier at college than I'd ever felt in my entire life and I was far from nervous. I still felt like sh*t, though. As a vegetarian who lived on cheese, I was lactose intolerant in a major way, so giving up dairy helped. I even gave up gluten but pretty much felt the same - tired and bloated. Every time I ate, I had digestive pains. Plus, I thought being a gluten-free vegetarian would help me drop my college weight gain, but I was actually gaining more weight.
Why? Gluten-free baked goods, breads, pastas, and vegan ice cream and cookies were part of my daily diet, so no wonder the scale numbers were going up. And even after giving up gluten for 10 years, my stomach was still a bloated mess. It wasn't until I ditched the processed junk and started eating more salads, roasted veggies, soups, beans, whole grains, and fruits that I noticed the enormous difference I had been hoping for. I felt energized and lighter, and, most importantly, I had no more belly bloat. I mean NONE. I even started introducing a little gluten back into my diet and still felt amazing.
The cure? Fiber. I wasn't eating close to enough on my junk-food gluten-free, vegetarian diet. I started focusing on getting at least 25 to 30 grams a day, which worked out to at least eight grams at each meal and three to four grams for each of my two snacks. To ensure I get my fill, I add ground flaxseed and berries to my smoothies and baked goods, chia seeds to my overnight oats, use avocado when I make pesto pasta, and add beans, quinoa, and sunflower seeds to my salads.
I was not only free from the chains of feeling bloated, but eating more fiber filled me up and I wasn't nearly as hungry as I had been, which helped me eat fewer daily calories, and in, turn lose weight. Talk about a major win-win, people!
American diets tend to focus on getting more protein and eating fewer carbs, so if you find that you're feeling bloated, gassy, and you can't remember the last time you pooped, check your fiber intake! As a general rule of thumb, make sure to get fiber every time you eat, whether it's through veggies, fruits, nuts and seeds, or whole grains. The 10 Commandments of Rental Decor
If there are rules that you as a renter must follow, make it these 10 commandments. Because, while paying your rent on time is important, so too is making sure your place is personalized and stylish. Working within the boundaries of your landlord, it's little things like a new light fixture that will make an impact without costing a lot of time or money. And, the best part about this entire list is that you'll leave with your security deposit intact once it's time to move up and on.

Strong Abs Start With This 7-Minute Workout
Get the printable version of this seven-minute HIIT workout here!
When it comes to high-intensity interval training (HIIT), the pros definitely outweigh the cons. While it may feel unpleasant to push your body to go faster and harder for that short time period, the rewards are worth it: HIIT helps you blast more belly fat, save time, and burn way more calories (even after your workout is long over) than a lower-intensity workout alone. A 2013 study published in the American College of Sports Medicine's Health and Fitness Journal found that a few minutes of training at almost your max can accomplish all of this in way less time than a traditional workout. How much less? Try just seven minutes total.
The ACSM's interval workout consists of 12 exercises, which should be done at an intensity of eight on a scale of 10; each exercise lasts 30 seconds, with a 10-second rest in between. Repeat the circuit if you'd like a longer workout. Keeping the intensity up - and the rest periods short - is key, so keep reading to learn the moves and then get going! You'll need a mat and a chair or bench.

Facebook user Lisa Woelke shared a brain-teaser that has been driving the Internet nuts. The post - which has been shared by more than 170,000 users - depicts a math equation with fruit items in lieu of numbers. For example, it can be deduced from the first line that one apple is equivalent to the number 10. Harmless enough, right? Wrong.
The most common answer for the remaining final line was 16 - and you shouldn't be discouraged if that's the answer you arrived at . . . it just isn't the correct one. The final answer is actually 14. You might be asking yourself, "What the what?" as you ponder the degeneration of your math skills, but it's OK. We can work through this together.
So yes, one apple equals 10, one banana bunch equals four, and the coconuts equal two. However, the final line alters the coconuts and bananas so that they are each missing one, respectively. In the case of the last line, there is only one coconut - equaling one - and three bananas in the bunch, which equal three. So one apple (10) plus one coconut (one) and three bananas (three) equal 14. Voilà!
What Did Kate Middleton Do Before Becoming a Royal?
Image Source: Getty / Tim Graham
For most of us, Kate Middleton came into our lives officially when her engagement to Prince William was announced back in October 2010. When the couple married in April 2011, the world was introduced to the woman we now know as the duchess of Cambridge, a wife, humanitarian, mother of two, and of course, future queen. With all the information we've gotten about Kate's duties as duchess, we started thinking about what her life was like before she was thrust into the spotlight as a global icon. Sure, in a lot of ways she's changed since getting married (who hasn't?), but we have to believe that underneath her title, she's still the same old Kate. Here's what her royal highness was up to before she became a member of Britain's most famous family.
Working Girl
After graduating from the University of St. Andrews in Fife, Scotland, Kate accepted a position as an accessory buyer with British retailer Jigsaw. The chain's founder, Belle Robinson, has since revealed details about what Kate was like as an employee: "I was so impressed by her," she told The Standard in 2008. "She sat in the kitchen at lunchtime and chatted with everyone from the van drivers to the accounts girls. She wasn't precious."
In November 2007, Kate decided to leave Jigsaw and began working as a photographer, website designer, and marketing officer for her parents' event planning company, Party Pieces. The following year she launched a junior brand to the firm called First Birthdays, and continued to work with her family until January 2011, just months before she married William.
Sister, Sister
Postcollege, Kate moved into a flat on Old Church Street in London's exclusive Chelsea neighborhood with her sister Pippa; their parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, purchased the apartment in 2002 for all three of their children to live in. Pippa continued to reside there with their brother James well after Kate married Will and moved to a four-bedroom farmhouse on the Welsh island of Anglesey. Pippa recently moved out of the apartment to live nearby in a house with her fiancée, James Matthews.

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun
Kate was just like any other young woman finding her footing after college: she went out for drinks with friends at London hotspots like Boujis, Mahiki, and Bunga Bunga; danced the night away at clubs, parties, and festivals; and attended high-profile events like book signings, charity events, and Wimbledon (she's still a fixture in the stands to this day). Kate would lunch at the Bluebird cafe around the corner from her Chelsea flat, shop at Marks & Spencer and Waitrose supermarkets, and ride her bike around town for exercise.
Standing by Her Man
Keep in mind that throughout this whole time, Kate was still dating Prince William - and had become something of a paparazzi darling since leaving the safe haven of their college campus. On her 25th birthday, Kate opened the front door of her flat to find over 30 photographers and local TV crews as she walked to her car. William wasn't happy about this, and Clarence House released a statement saying, "Prince William wants more than anything for the paparazzi to stop harassing her." It's a move that his younger brother Prince Harry recently took when it came to the harassment of his own girlfriend, actress Meghan Markle, and her family.
Despite the constant public attention, Kate dutifully attended William's polo matches and was by his side at the wedding of Camilla's daughter, Laura Parker Bowles, as well as the Princess Diana Memorial Concert that he and Harry threw in 2007. That year, the royal couple hit a rough patch and decided to part ways; they reunited in the Summer of 2010, and during a vacation in Kenya in October 2010, Prince William put a (very special) ring on it.
Read the Note a Mom Wrote to a Group of Petty Teenagers She Overheard in Starbucks
"You are smart and you are pretty. It would take nothing from you to also be kind," Michelle Icard wrote in a note to three teenage girls she sat next to in her local Starbucks in May 2016. The mom was enjoying her coffee when she overheard the girls gossiping about various "petty" things while they studied, which she said made her skin crawl.
Icard left Starbucks to go shopping, contemplated the incident, and saw that on her way back past the shop the girls were still sitting there - so she decided to order them drinks and write them a note. She approached them and said: "You don't know me but it looks like you're here studying and I wrote you a note of encouragement."
I sat near you today in Starbucks and listened as you talked. You three are obviously pretty and hard-working. I wish your kindness matched your pretty exteriors. I heard you talk about a girl who sang a song about being lonely in the talent show - and you laughed. . . . You sounded so mean and petty.
Icard told People: "I think that girls who are really pretty in high school can use that as a way of hiding bad behavior, it's almost like they feel like they have the pretty card so they can get away with it. I wanted to speak their language, but also to show them that you have a lot of power with that prettiness and you can hide behind it or you can be kind and it won't take anything away from you."
You'll LOL When You Hear What the Property Brothers Found Inside the Walls of a Reno
If you've ever been frustrated by the part in the beginning of every episode of HGTV's Property Brothers where Drew shows the family their dream home only to dash their dreams by telling them that the house they've just fallen in love with is comically out of their budget, then you're not alone. Jonathan hates that part, too! "He calls it the Drew jerk part," Drew admitted during the Scott brothers' recent appearance on NPR's beloved quiz show, Wait Wait . . . Don't Tell Me!. "I'm just trying to bring people out of the clouds and show them that they've got to be realistic," Drew justified. Jonathan wasn't buying this explanation, claiming, "If Drew had a hairless cat that he could pet while doing that . . . he would!" We can't stop laughing at the image of Drew showing houses as Dr. Evil!
During the radio appearance, Jonathan and Drew also went on to reveal some of the bizarre things they've come across during home renos. "We've opened walls up to find the craziest, most disgusting things you can possibly imagine," shared Jonathan. "On the more pleasant side, I found an entire hidden antique Playboy collection. On the less attractive side, I've found petrified rats who had chewed through electrical and met their demise."
Drew seconds Jonathan's story, adding the unforgettable tale of a Texas home owner who got rid of a raccoon living inside his walls by ripping back a panel and firing off several rounds of his gun. He succeeded in killing the pest, but "after a couple days, the smell [of the dead animal] started to get to him, plus his electrical and plumbing stopped working because he had shot through it." Yikes! Even though the Property Brothers only answered one of the three quiz questions they were asked correctly, we think these hilarious show insights make their appearance a huge success.
Toddler Shuts Down a Cashier Who Told Her to Pick Out a "Different" Doll
After Sophia successfully pooped on the potty for an entire month, she was allowed to pick out a special prize. Not surprising to her parents, Brandi and Nick, Sophia wanted a new doll.
As her mom explained, "the obsession is real" when it comes to dolls for this little girl, but a cashier at the store threatened to ruin her excitement - simply because of the color of her new toy's skin. While Sophia and Brandi were checking out, the employee asked the toddler if she was going to a birthday party. Both the mom and daughter gave the woman a blank stare. She then asked if Sophia picked the doll out for a friend.
"Sophia continued to stare blankly and I let the cashier know that she was a prize for Sophia being fully potty trained," Brandi shared on the Love What Matters Facebook page. "The woman gave me a puzzled look and turned to Sophia and asked, 'Are you sure this is the doll you want, honey?'"
Sophia found her voice and replied, "Yes, please!" but the woman still didn't back down. "But she doesn't look like you. We have lots of other dolls that look more like you," the cashier said, according to Brandi.
Brandi immediately became angry, but before she could say anything, Sophia began explaining all of the ways she and her new doll are alike. "Yes, she does. She's a doctor like I'm a doctor. And I'm a pretty girl and she's a pretty girl. See her pretty hair? And see her stethoscope?" Sophia told the stranger.
The cashier finally dropped the conversation, but the unexpected exchange had a lasting impact on this mom. "This experience just confirmed my belief that we aren't born with the idea that color matters," she wrote. "Skin comes in different colors just like hair and eyes, and every shade is beautiful."
Target Is Empowering Breastfeeding Moms With Public Feeding Stations
As if moms didn't already love Target, this chain is giving women another reason to be obsessed with their stores. To the delight of many shoppers, some Targets have rolled out a "nursing nook" or "feeding station" for moms to be able to nourish their little ones in comfort.
These thoughtful areas aren't set up in a private room or dark corner meant to hide moms. Instead, they are normalizing the concept of moms feeding their babies by keeping the area in public. Along with cozy chairs and pillows, the designated space has Boppy pillows, breastfeeding covers, and free breast pads.
Kristy Welker, a representative for Target, told Scary Mommy that the company is testing these nursing areas in a few stores but it does not currently have plans to expand the concept to all locations.
"In late 2016, we began testing designated nursing rooms at two stores in Minnesota. We will continue to evaluate guest feedback on this test to determine broader rollout to additional stores and we always appreciate hearing from our guests about how we can better meet their needs," Welker said. "Fitting rooms are available for women who wish to breastfeed their babies privately, even if others are waiting to use the fitting rooms. Guests who choose to breastfeed in public areas of the store are welcome to do so without being made to feel uncomfortable. Additionally, store leaders are empowered to make decisions that help meet the needs of the guests they serve."
7 Shopping Secrets Straight From an Aldi Employee
Aldi grocery stores may be famous for their exceptionally low price points, but we're finding out that there's a lot more to the company than just a solid deal on bananas! One employee just revealed tons of secrets about the grocery store and what it's like to work at Aldi in a Reddit AMA, and we're truly intrigued. During the "Ask Me Anything" conversation, the employee spilled the details on how "fresh" the produce is, why the cashiers are always sitting, and those delicious knockoff Girl Scout Cookies. Read on for all of the juicy Aldi shopping secrets, straight from an employee.
There's a weekly deal called Special Buys.
One Irish Reddit user wondered if they featured a weekly special product like they do at the stores in Ireland, which is often a really random product, like "skiing gear or a chainsaw," and the employee said yes. "It's called Special Buys," they shared about the weekly deals. "We just got a bunch of gardening things in yesterday!" So good to know!
They have amazing coffee!
The employee shared that coffee is their favorite thing to buy at Aldi. "We have amazing coffee," they shared. "My favorite is the Honduras and Peru whole bean (single source, organic, and fair trade) and the regular fair trade medium roast. The chocolate (choceur) is better than almost any common brand you can find. Almost everything there is truly comparable to national brands. It's not just a line. There is a very short list of things I don't like." They also sell great K-Cups for Keurig users.
Why do the cashiers always sit?
One curious Reddit user asked why the cashiers are always sitting, and it has absolutely nothing to do with laziness. "The register chairs are a German thing. I'm not 100% sure why. But I like to think we sit because we bust our asses cleaning and stocking when we aren't ringing."
The knockoff Girl Scout Cookies are delicious.
Someone asked why the near-identical Girl Scout Cookies weren't available in all stores, and the employee shared their incredibly impressive self-control when it comes to the cookies. "They are pretty amazing," the employee said about the cookies. "I don't allow myself to buy them often, though. I'll eat the whole thing by myself in like a day or two."
No, you can't get a discount on squished boxes.
Apparently, it's a running joke between shoppers that no one can ever find baking soda in Aldi stores, but we have an answer! "Baking aisle, top shelf," the employee shared, revealing a tip that might be a letdown to some customers. "No, you can't get a discount on the squished boxes."
Hiring is very competitive.
Yup! When someone asked if their experience at Walmart would help in the application process at Aldi, the employee said yes and opened up about the great number of applicants. "A lot of district managers like to hire people with former management experience (that's part of why I got hired)," they shared. "All experience matters of course, so grocery experience is definitely on your side. My store (not in a very large city) receives several hundred applications a year. Two people were hired in my store in the last 12 months. . . I was one of them. It's a tough job. Everyone does everything, including 6am truck shifts. Keeping the store clean and stocked is a constant struggle when it gets as busy as it does, and when there are only 2-3 working at a time. . . well, you can imagine. That's why it's nice to sit while we ring."
Produce is exceptionally fresh.
With such low prices, many shoppers wonder how "fresh" the produce really is, and the employee reassured the curious Reddit users that even though the produce is less expensive than other grocery stores, it's great quality. "We get produce deliveries every morning," they shared. "The turn around is very fast, so we don't have much waste. We just don't over-order, I guess. It's more typical that we are all out of broccoli by the time we close than it is that we have several extra cases that just end up in the trash." At this employee's location, local restaurant employees will even come in to purchase produce. "We often have local restaurants come in to buy produce to hold them over until deliveries come in. They have mentioned that it's cheaper than their wholesalers. I don't have actual numbers, but bananas and lettuce are big sellers in that area."
But if you're still wondering why shoppers are required to purchase a cart for a quarter, check out more Aldi secrets from another candid employee.
President Obama's New DC Home Needed 1 Major Construction Change For Privacy
The Obama family moved out of the White House in January, but before they could move into their beautiful $5.3 million DC rental, construction crews had to make some last-minute upgrades. According to TMZ, a brick wall was built to fortify the property and the garage was turned into an office with a bathroom, presumably for the Secret Service to use.
The Obamas will be renting the nine-bedroom, eight-and-a-half-bathroom home until Sasha graduates, making former President Barack Obama the first president to stay in Washington DC after his term since Woodrow Wilson. The home, located in the upscale Kalorama neighborhood, is clearly being protected with all the necessary security measures. And in addition to a new brick wall, the Obamas also got a new neighbor - Ivanka Trump and her family moved in just two blocks away to be closer to President Donald Trump in the White House.
So Obama is building a Great Wall ? Nice! http://pic.twitter.com/qqCPlDnCOA

His Teacher Asked Him to Finish the Phrase "I Am," but This Boy With Autism's Response Will Move You to Tears
When 10-year-old Benjamin was given a school assignment to write a poem titled "I Am" - using 18 prewritten prompts such as "I see," "I hear," and "I feel" - he could have written just about anything to fill in those blanks. However, Benjamin has autism, so his poem turned out to be an eye-opening look into what it feels like for him to be different. He wrote how it feels to be "odd" and out of place, to feel "like a boy in outer space." The Harmful Effects of Instant Ramen Noodles
Yes, you know that instant ramen isn't good for you, but studies have confirmed just how harmful the prepackaged food can really be. A study in the Journal of Nutrition links instant noodle consumption with heart risk, particularly in women. The researchers conducted a study in South Korea, where consumption of instant noodles is the highest in the world, with more than 10,700 people ranging in age from 19 to 64. The results? "Women who consume instant noodles frequently were found to be more likely to have metabolic syndrome - the group of risk factors, including obesity and high blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar, that increase the risk of heart disease and diabetes."
The harmful effects were predominantly found in women and not men. Part of the study reads, "Women - though not men - who ate instant noodles at least twice a week showed a 68 percent higher risk of metabolic syndrome," which is a syndrome that can increase the risk of heart attacks and strokes.
The high sodium content in instant noodle products is obvious, but the main culprit is the noodles themselves. In another study by Dr. Braden Kuo, director of the gastrointestinal motility laboratory at Massachusetts General Hospital at Harvard University, the doctor found unsettling results after testing digestion of the noodles. He used a tiny camera to study the breakdown of instant ramen noodles in the stomach and found out just how difficult it is for your body to digest the preservative-filled noodles. Warning: the photos are graphic. A preservative called TBHQ, which is found in many processed foods including Reese's and Chicken McNuggets, extends shelf life of fatty foods and makes them harder to digest. It's one of the many ingredients in Maruchan Chicken Ramen.
If you're hopelessly devoted to instant ramen (and it's a budget-friendly staple in your life), all hope is not lost. Dr. Frank B. Hu, a professor of nutrition and epidemiology at Harvard, told The New York Times, "Once or twice a month is not a problem, but a few times a week really is."
Moral of the story: eating college-friendly instant ramen is OK, but moderation is key.

Jimmy Fallon's Daughters Steal the Show at the Opening of His Universal Studios Ride
Jimmy Fallon and The Tonight Show are taking over Universal Studios Orlando Resort this week for the grand opening of his new thrill ride, Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon. In addition to enjoying the parks and photobombing fans with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, the late-night host also took time to give a speech about how much his new ride means to him. While attending the ribbon-cutting ceremony with his wife, Nancy Juvonen, their two adorable daughters, Winnie and Frances, ended up stealing the entire show. Not only were they too cute for words in their matching yellow dresses, but they also waved and clapped as their dad spoke to the crowd outside the park's fake New York City backdrop.
"I can't believe this is really happening," Jimmy said. "The Tonight Show is all about fun and positivity and laughter and putting a smile on your face, and that is what this ride is all about. I'm so proud of it. As a kid from upstate New York, I never imagined I would be a talk-show host let alone have my own ride. It goes to show that if you keep dreaming big anything is possible." The sweet family moment is even cuter than their recent ski trip in March (but still doesn't top the girls' Halloween costumes from 2015).

The Surprising Bath Product That Could Alleviate Your Migraines
Besides the pain of a throbbing headache, the most frustrating part of being a migraine sufferer is how difficult it is to find an effective treatment. I personally have given up on preventative or emergency medications, as many of them have only made me feel worse. But thanks to a viral Facebook post, those dealing with these awful headaches may finally be able to get some relief.
The Daily Mail discovered Facebook user Jill Hamilton's tip from a friend, which declares Johnson's Baby Soothing Vapor Bath ($5) as "life-changing."
"I get unbearable migraine headaches," read the post. "I started using this in the shower every night, I lather up really good and breathe in the smell for about five minutes then rinse off. And no more migraine!"
The relief may be due to the aromatherapeutic blend of rosemary, eucalyptus, and menthol. Cathy Glaser, the president of the Migraine Research Foundation, told Allure that researchers have been focusing on the benefits of menthol in particular.
"Menthol has been used as a 'non-drug' therapy for headaches for centuries. Although there are anecdotal reports that it's helpful, there is no scientific research supporting its use," says Glaser. "That's why we funded a study on cornmint oil (which is what menthol comes from) last year."
While there are no results yet from that study, it's worth testing out the Johnson's Baby Soothing Vapor Bath in the meantime. It could seriously improve your life if it works, but worst case scenario, you're out $5 - with a squeaky-clean body.
