11 Things You Didn't Know About Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip's Royal Relationship

Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip will be celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary this year, which is a pretty amazing feat regardless of the fact that they're royalty. Whether you think you know a lot about the couple or are hankering for more details about their decades-long marriage, we've got a handful of facts about the royal couple that might surprise you.
- For starters, they're related. That's right: Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip are actually second cousins once removed through King Christian IX of Denmark, and third cousins through their great-great-grandmother, Queen Victoria. Interestingly enough, Victoria married her first cousin, Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, in 1840.
- They met when Elizabeth was just a little girl. The future couple were first introduced in 1934, at the wedding of Philip's cousin Princess Marina of Greece and Denmark to Prince George, Duke of Kent (Elizabeth's uncle). At the time, she was just 8 years old. They saw each other again three years later, but it was during a meeting at the Royal Naval College in Dartmouth in July 1939 - Elizabeth was 13 and Philip was 18 - that they fell in love and began to exchange letters.
- Elizabeth's dad gave his blessing for their marriage (on one condition). Philip asked King George VI for his daughter's hand in marriage in 1946, and the king granted his permission under the condition that a formal engagement was delayed until Elizabeth turned 21 the following April; both he and his wife, Queen Elizabeth, felt that their daughter was "too young," and were disappointed that she wanted to marry the first man she met.

- Their betrothal came with a bit of controversy. Philip and Elizabeth's engagement was officially announced in July 1947. The British public largely dismissed him as "a German" and the queen mother reportedly referred to him as "the Hun." Many of the king's advisors "did not think him good enough" for Elizabeth; he was foreign-born, didn't have money, and his three sisters all married German princes (some with Nazi ties).
- Philip abandoned his royal titles before marrying Elizabeth. Born Prince Philip of Greece and Denmark, Philip renounced those titles in 1957 in an attempt to gain favorable media coverage and blend a bit more seamlessly into his fiancée's family. He took on the style of Lieutenant Philip Mountbatten, adopting the surname of his mother's British family. He also converted from Greek Orthodoxy to Anglicanism.
- Some of their family members were not allowed at the wedding. Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth II tied the knot at Westminster Abbey on Nov. 20, 1947. Being that it was just two years after World War II ended, it was not cool for Philip's German family members (including his sisters) to be invited to the wedding. Also not invited was Elizabeth's uncle, the former King Edward VIII, who abdicated the throne in December 1936.
- Elizabeth originally took her husband's name. On the morning of their wedding, Philip was made the Duke of Edinburgh. Upon tying the knot, Elizabeth took Philip's title and became Princess Elizabeth, Duchess of Edinburgh.
- They started a family pretty quickly. Elizabeth gave birth to the couple's first child, Prince Charles, on Nov. 14, 1948, almost a year to the day of their wedding. Their welcomed a daughter, Princess Anne, two years later.

- They didn't always live with their kids. Between 1949 and 1951, Philip was stationed in Malta while serving as a Royal Navy officer. He and Elizabeth lived at Villa Guardamangia, the rented home of his uncle Lord Mountbatten, for several months at a time. Their two young children, Prince Charles and Princess Anne, stayed in Britain.
- Philip was the bearer of bad news upon King George VI's death. When Elizabeth's father passed away after a long illness in 1952, she and Philip had just embarked on a royal tour of Australia and New Zealand with a stop in Kenya. They were at their Kenyan home, Sagana Lodge, when the news of George's death reached them. It was Philip who told Elizabeth that her father had died - and that she was now queen.
- Philip didn't deal well with Elizabeth's rise to power. After King George's death, Philip gave up his career as a naval officer to support his wife's new royal duties and was known to butt heads with the Buckingham Palace staff. There were arguments about whether or not Elizabeth would keep his surname after she took the throne, but both the British Prime Minister Winston Churchill and Elizabeth's grandmother, Queen Mary, voted in favor to keep the family name as House of Windsor (rather than House of Mountbatten). This was also likely due to the fact that in the days after George's death, Philip's uncle, Louis "Dickie" Mountbatten, was overheard triumphantly declaring that "the House of Mountbatten now reigned," which understandably angered Queen Mary.
In April 1952, the queen mother issued a declaration that Windsor would continue to be the royal name. Philip, meanwhile, was pissed: he privately complained of being "nothing but a bloody amoeba," and railed against being "the only man in the country not allowed to give his name to his own children." But after both Queen Mary's death in 1953 and Churchill's resignation in 1955, the queen mother reversed the decision, aware of both Philip's frustration and the impending birth of their second son. In 1960, she issued an Order of Council stating that Elizabeth and Philip had adopted the surname Mountbatten-Windsor for their male-line descendants, saying, "The Queen has had this in mind for a long time and it is close to her heart." Their baby boy, Prince Andrew, was born just a week later. Today, it acts as a sort of optional last name for those in the family.

Steve Wozniak's Critique of "Making America Great Again" Makes a Whole Lot of Sense
Tech-world icon Steve Wozniak is no stranger to seeing Silicon Valley go through changes big and small. It's why the Apple cofounder, who's been around the valley for 41 years, doesn't try to think too much about the current political state in America. However, Wozniak does have one key, direct message for Donald Trump: don't ruin the future and stifle technological innovations.
As the person behind Silicon Valley Comic-Con, where this year's theme was "The Future of Humanity: Where Will Humanity Be in 2075?", Wozniak himself believes our future success is dependent on technology. When it comes to Trump's popular campaign slogan, "Make America Great Again," Wozniak told POPSUGAR he hopes Trump realizes one aspect that fulfills that statement: technology. "But our technologies and everything are really what puts the United States prominent in the worldview - computers being a large part of that," Wozniak said. "So, don't spoil the future. That's going to be important, be it self-driving cars, be it energy-efficient cars, be it electric-operated cars. Don't spoil that." He also wants Trump to realize we shouldn't give up our lead in technology simply because "we're already wealthy."
"So don't spoil the future that's going to be important. . ."
The Woz also takes issue with which tech companies Trump's talking to and who's on his advisory team. He believes that only talking to existing companies will lead to those companies asking for tax breaks. Instead, Wozniak thinks Trump should listen to younger entrepreneurs and companies. "He should have advisors from college professors, and engineering, and entrepreneurs, and young people who want to start companies, not existing companies," said Wozniak.
Regardless of who Trump is talking to, Wozniak is optimistic those conversations will help him realize they're seriously invested in the future. "I hope that's the outcome of his being open to talk from companies around here," he said. "Because we've always been into 'let's change the future and improve it.'"
Stan Lee's Guardians of the Galaxy 2 Cameo Is More Important Than You Think
You can't watch a movie from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and not expect to see Stan Lee. The iconic comic-book writer, who's responsible for creating many of the Marvel heroes we hold dear, has popped up over and over again in cheeky cameos, but have his appearances been more important than a simple tip of the hat? Some fans seem to think so, and given his latest part in Guardians of the Galaxy 2, we're inclined to agree.
Spoilers for Guardians of the Galaxy 2 below!
In the Guardians of the Galaxy sequel, Lee appears not once but twice. We get our first glimpse of the Marvel chairman when Yondu, Rocket, Groot, and Kraglin are hopping through realms over a planet in their spaceship, where he's regaling a group of aliens on the surface with tales of his time as a FedEx employee (a reference to his cameo in Captain America: Civil War). The second time we see him is during the fifth and final postcredits scene, which is a continuation of his first appearance. He asks the aliens to stay and listen ("I've still got more stories to tell!"), but they get bored and walk away. The aliens he's talking to aren't random - they're members of The Watchers, an ancient extraterrestrial race in charge of passively observing everything that happens in the universe. Though they're all-seeing, The Watchers are banned from ever interfering in the phenomena of the universe (they're not called The Do-ers) (sorry). In fact, their behavior is pretty similar to how Lee behaves in all of his cameos, don't you think?
It turns out that Lee is indeed a member of The Watchers, and he's been playing the same "character" in all of his cameos this whole time. In an interview with The Radio Times, Guardians director James Gunn revealed he specifically chose to include the scenes with Lee as a nod to the Watchers theory fans have been wondering about for so long. "I mean, you know there's a lot of cool stuff that the fans come up with," he said. "A lot of stuff I don't agree with, you know, people have ideas about what they think should happen in the MCU. But I find the idea that Stan Lee is a Watcher, or that he works for the Watchers, is just a fun little nod to the fans."
The head of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, further confirmed the theory. "We always thought it would be fun. Stan Lee clearly exists, you know, above and apart from the reality of all the films," he said. "So the notion that he could be sitting there on a cosmic pit stop during the jump gate sequence in Guardians was something very fun – James had that idea and we shot that cameo and loved it so much, you know, you see it a couple of times in the movie. It wasn't in for a long time and we put it back in towards the end of the process where he references that time he was a Federal Express agent – we thought it would be fun to put that in there because that really says, so wait a minute, he's this same character who's popped up in all these films."

Yes, "Stealthing" Is Sexual Assault, and We Should Be Prosecuting the Men Who Practice It
A new study from the Columbia Journal of Gender and Law explores "stealthing," when a man purposefully removes a condom during sex without consent. It's a practice that's disturbing, violating, and incredibly common. The study, written by Alexandra Brodsky, thoroughly explores the online community of men who believe that they are entitled to have condomless sex without their partner's agreement.
Stealthing is discussed online by both straight and gay men - they consider it their "right." They go as far as to say it's every man's right to "spread his seed." Many victims of this practice walk away from the experience feeling utterly violated. Rebecca, a woman interviewed in the study, had her own experience with stealthing. She also worked for a rape crisis hotline. "Their stories often start the same way," Rebecca told Brodsky. "'I'm not sure if this is rape, but . . .'"
This is a part of the problem with stealthing - women walk away from the situation unsure if they experienced sexual assault, sexual abuse, or rape. This is a part of the problem with stealthing - women walk away from the situation unsure if they experienced sexual assault, sexual abuse, or rape. "Some realized their partner had removed the condom at the moment of re-penetration; others did not realize until the partner ejaculated or, in one case, notified them the next morning," the study explains.
The practice is not addressed in the United States courts, so the lack of legal recognition results in victims feeling confused and violated. It puts people at risk for sexually transmitted diseases and pregnancies - victims feel like their trust and self-worth has been completely disrespected. "One victim turned to an online forum for people with HIV in the wake of her experience because she was so worried she may have contracted the virus from her assailant," Brodsky wrote.
This sexual and gender-based violence has entire websites dedicated to it. Men will give tips and advice on how to trick partners into condomless sex. "While one can imagine a range of motivations for 'stealthers' - increased physical pleasure, a thrill from degradation - online discussions suggest offenders and their defenders justify their actions as a natural male instinct - and natural male right," Brodsky explains. These men have no regard for the rights, health, and well-being of their sexual partners.
So how can we argue that stealthing falls under nonconsensual sex? Brodsky's first explanation is literal and straight-forward. "The victim consented to touch by a condom, not touch by the skin of a penis. The law is clear that one may consent to one form of sexual contact without providing blanket future consent to all sexual contact."
Brodsky's second argument makes perfect sense as well. She explains that when someone is consenting to sex with a condom, they are consenting to the risks and benefits that go along with that act. "Sex without a condom carries higher risks of pregnancy and STI transmission than sex with a condom," she wrote. "Because of the increased risk, the removal of the condom transforms the sexual act into a different act, such that consent to one is not carried over to consent to the other."
Providing proof is incredibly difficult and there is no law that specifically addresses this crime. The fact that we have to explain or prove these facts to anyone is ridiculous. Men are forcing their victims into a sexual act that they did not agree to. Unfortunately, stealthing is difficult to prosecute if a victim chooses to take legal action. Providing proof is incredibly difficult and there is no law that specifically addresses this crime.
Brodsky ends her study by stating that the best way to take action on stealthing would be to create a new legal statute. "One of my goals with the article, and in proposing a new statute, is to provide a vocabulary and create ways for people to talk about what is a really common experience that just is too often dismissed as just 'bad sex' instead of 'violence.'" A statute would not only give victims a clearer opportunity to press charges if they wanted to, but it would also promote a discussion about different forms of sexual assault. Victims would then have more resources for help and recovery - something that could truly make a huge difference.
Everything We Know About Jason Momoa's Stand-Alone Aquaman Movie
If Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice didn't turn out to be your jam, don't worry. There's a new superhero coming to the big screen, and we're already in love with him - and his late, great chest hair. Jason Momoa is taking on the title role in Aquaman, his standalone DC Comics movie. We already have a few pictures of him on the set of Justice League, but Aquaman is even further down the line. Here's everything we know so far, and check back as we update with more details!

Do Yourself a Favor and Watch Chris Pratt Demonstrate His Ideal "Humpin' Tempo"
If you're curious about the tempo at which Chris Pratt prefers to hump, you're in luck, because he talked about just that when he sat down with Stephen Colbert on Monday. During his appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, Chris talked about his mix-tape-making abilities - or lack thereof. After creating an awesome mix for his brother, he felt confident in his song-curating skills, but when he tried to make a love-making mix for his wife, Anna Faris, things didn't go as planned. Please, please take some time to watch Chris Pratt describe why the mix didn't work, because (spoiler alert) he does an absolutely hilarious demonstration of his ideal "humpin' tempo." File under: yet another reason to love him.
Every Star Who Is Set to Join Jason Momoa in Aquaman
We've got a long way to go before the stand-alone Aquaman film hits theaters - it's not due until 2018! - but that's not going to stop us from getting excited. In the past year, we've already glimpsed Jason Momoa all suited up for his turn as the aquatic demigod. Aquaman has appeared in the Justice League trailer from Comic-Con, plus other behind-the-scenes footage in unexpected places. Now that the cast has officially united for the initial table read and principal photography is underway, there's a good chance we'll be getting behind-the-scenes glimpses of the actors soon. In the meantime, we thought it best to go over all the stars who have signed on for the film so far.
Mila Kunis Gave Her Parents the Surprise of a Lifetime With a Home Makeover
Mila Kunis is a hilarious actress and a wonderful mother, and now she can add talented home renovator to her résumé! In a recent episode of My Houzz, Mila surprised her parents with an incredible home makeover. It's the condo Mila grew up in and where her parents, Mark and Elvira, have lived for 20 years, but as the Bad Moms actress said for herself, it was time to give it an upgrade.
When Mila was just 9 years old, the Kunis family moved from the Ukraine to Los Angeles, and they have lived in the same condo since, but the living, dining, and kitchen areas of the home needed work. "Knowing how hard I work now for what I have puts things into perspective for how much harder my parents had to work to have given us the life my brother and I had," she said. "So I desperately want to give them something they deserve."
She teamed up with LA-based designer Breeze Giannasio to transform the kitchen and living room into an open-space floor plan, making it ideal for family gatherings. Mila wanted to make sure whoever was in the kitchen would not feel isolated from the rest of the group hanging out in the living room. Her husband, Ashton Kutcher, actually remodeled his mom's basement in a previous My Houzz episode, but that didn't stop him from making a tear-jerking toast during the reveal of the home.
Watch the episode above and prepare to be amazed at how even at nine months pregnant, Mila was determined to give her parents the surprise of a lifetime. (And yes, that involved knocking down walls.)

Prince Philip Steps Out With Queen Elizabeth II After Announcing His Retirement
Prince Philip was all smiles on Thursday when he stepped out in London after announcing his retirement. The Duke of Edinburgh had his wife, Queen Elizabeth II, by his side as he visited the Order of Merit Service at St. James's Palace. He appeared to be in good spirits as he mingled with guests. Rumors about his and the queen's health recently went into overdrive when Buckingham Palace called for an emergency meeting for all staff early Thursday morning. However, an announcement was made shortly after 10 a.m. UK time that the 95-year-old royal would be stepping down from royal duties as of this Fall. Until then, he will continue his previously scheduled engagements.
Aldi Has 2 New Boozy Popsicles You'll Want to Try This Summer!
Adults won't be able to resist Aldi's yummy new popsicle treats. The Prosecco and Peach Bellini Popsicle and the Gin and Tonic Popsicle each cost less than $5 and have 4.5 percent ABV, the same amount of alcohol in the average beer. If that wasn't enough to get your taste buds ready, the Prosecco and Peach Popsicle has 38 percent Prosecco and 18 percent peach fruit puree from concentrate.
As for the Gin and Tonic Popsicle? Expect to taste 11 percent gin with a "zingy lemon twist." The only catch is these popsicles are only available in the UK at the moment, but here's hoping that Aldi can hear our excitement all the way across the pond and bring these alcoholic desserts to the States sooner rather than later!
People Are Already Trolling Ivanka Trump's New Book on Amazon
Ivanka Trump is feeling the heat on Amazon. Shortly after the release of her new book, Women Who Work: Rewriting the Rules For Success, the first daughter received countless negative reviews on the popular e-commerce site. While it's clear that most of the savage reviews are from people who haven't yet read the book, which is described as a guide to "equip you with the best skills" to manage work and family, there were a few in the bunch who admitted they did. Read on to see some of the book reviews that have so far earned Ivanka a 2.6-star rating on Amazon.

Watch Ally Brooke Hernandez Pour Her Heart Out Covering Selena's "Como La Flor"
Ally Brooke Hernandez just made our hearts melt. In a video from last year, the Fifth Harmony member covers Selena Quintanilla's "Como La Flor," and we are speechless.
It all went down at a concert the ladies (including now solo artist Camila Cabello) had in Monterrey, Mexico, in the Summer of 2016, when Ally decided she was going to cover one of Selena's hit singles, and she didn't disappoint. The heart and soul she put into it is visible and will give you chills.
The love Ally has for Selena goes so deep that she once dedicated an Instagram post to her. "Happy Birthday to my favorite entertainer, Selena Quintanilla 💛 So many people will never forget the beautiful person and spirit you were. I love you so very much. ♥," she captioned the photo.

The MTV Movie Awards Hosts You Probably, Definitely Forgot About
The MTV Movie Awards will combine with TV for the first time this year, and we're excited to see how the show rolls out with host Adam Devine on May 7. The Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates and Workaholics star will join a long list of past emcees that includes Eddie Murphy, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Jessica Alba.
While some hosts have been pretty unforgettable (remember how many digs Russell Brand took at the stars in the audience?), there are others we completely forgot about. For instance, we had no idea that Will Smith hosted the show back in 1994, and we may have blocked out that time MTV paired Jimmy Fallon with Kirsten Dunst for 2001's big event. Some high-profile stars have even hosted more than once! Keep reading to see all the MTV Movie Awards hosts you may have forgotten about, then check out the most '90s-tastic moments and sexiest smooches from the show's best kiss award winners.
30+ Matching Tattoos For Couples Who Are in It to Win It
Couples' tattoos can be pretty hit or miss. We've seen corresponding full-body tattoos that form torso-sized hearts and questionable ink with indiscernible meanings. And then there's always the issue of a potential breakup. Do you get a major laser-removal job, try to make it into something else, or stick with it longer than you stuck with the relationship? Still, sometimes you get the cool couple with amazing ink ideas and who totally nail their matching tattoos. Here is some adorable body art that proves love is literally forever. We hope!

Ed Sheeran's "Galway Girl" Video Will Make You Homesick For Ireland (Even If You've Never Been)
Ed Sheeran released the new unofficial St. Patrick's Day theme song earlier this year when he dropped "Galway Girl" off his new album, Divide. While the holiday is already long over, the song is still catchy as hell (and will continue to be until the end of time). After causing a frenzy in Galway, Ireland, while filming the music video in April, the finished product is finally here, and it's just as charming as you'd expect. Sheeran takes viewers on a tour of Ireland's friendliest city through the eyes of his personal camera. While hanging out with Irish actress Saoirse Ronan, the two hit up a few of Galway's pubs, down pints of Guinness, chat with Irish dancers, get into a fight, and end the night watching the sun come up. Even if you've never been to Ireland, this video will make you want to book a trip ASAP.

The Internet Is Losing Its Sh*t Over This Absurd "Lapping Tongues" Sex Toy
The internet is up in arms over a certain sex toy that basically looks like everything but what it's meant to be. Produced by "the sexual happiness people" over at Lovehoney, the Sqweel 2 Oral Sex Simulator ($40) features a battery-powered wheel with 10 rotating silicone tongues that operate at not one but three possible speeds to help you reach that big O.
This one-of-a-kind toy is "out to impress your clitoris in every way possible," according to the official product description, which also mentions a "flicker setting [that] rocks the wheel back and forth to wow you into a powerful orgasmic stupor." Hmm, let's get up close and personal with those artificial "lapping" tongues, shall we?
At first glance, we thought there's no way in hell any sort of "squealing" would be had upon using this thing like the product's name suggests. So we did some digging on the toy's website to see what actual users had to say, and the reviews were pretty mixed. It was rated at three and a half stars, with an array of customers praising the gadget's pleasuring capabilities with glowing reviews, detailed below.
- "Definitely would recommend this product to anyone looking for a great night in!"
- "If one of your favourite things is someone going down on you, this is the toy for you. Just lube yourself up and let the Sqweel do its work, and within minutes (yes minutes) all of your daily stress is left behind."
- "If you're looking for something different and simply mind-blowing, this is a must have!"
- "When I got this toy I was a little nervous of using it as it looked a bit S&M (with the tongues). However, when I plucked up the courage to use it, fireworks started! I wouldn't look back at all now!"
On the flip side, other customers were left disappointed by the device and couldn't help but detail their dissatisfaction with pointed reviews, some of which are below.
- "We weren't impressed with the power or speed of this toy and rarely used it. The idea is great but the build quality and feel of the unit wasn't impressive either. Rather noisy."
- "It just not that strong enough and when you put a little pressure it starts to slow down."
- "The Sqweel wasn't what we expected. Just too loud and didn't do anything for us."
- "Don't get me wrong, it feels good - for about a minute. Then suddenly it feels numb and repetitive. Unfortunately, even with all the lube in the world, it just didn't bring an orgasm."
Though this variety of reviews is undoubtedly helpful, the most entertaining reactions came out on social media, naturally. Twitter user Brandy Jensen recently shared a photo of the strange gizmo, noting how it was definitely designed by a man.
there's no way this sex toy, meant to simulate oral, was designed by a woman http://pic.twitter.com/rCqMu9VCUI
- Brandy Jensen (@BrandyLJensen) May 3, 2017
This spurred a sh*tstorm of hilarious responses comparing the gadget to a variety of nonsexual arbitrary objects. It reminded most users of a various types of boats - paddleboats, steamboats, you name it!

Guardians of the Galaxy 2: What Mantis Looks Like Without Her Antennae
Part of what makes the Guardians of the Galaxy films so great is not only the amazing soundtracks, but also the galactic superhero films' collection of hilarious, unique characters (Baby Groot, we're looking at you). On top of the usual suspects, the sequel features a few new faces. One of the most memorable is Mantis, played by French actress Pom Klementieff. Some of the movie's best moments are between the socially awkward empath, who's introduced as a employee of Ego the Living Planet (Kurt Russell), and Dave Bautista's brutally honest Drax. Wondering where you've seen her before?
The 31-year-old actress is from Quebec, where she got her start on the silver screen in a few French-language projects like 2007's Après lui and the 2009 miniseries Pigalle, la nuit. She continued appearing in French films and TV shows until 2013, when she scored the role of Haeng-Bok in the 2013 remake of Old Boy (below).
Since then, her résumé has favored low-key films (like the 2015 thriller Hacker's Game opposite 13 Reasons Why star Ross Butler) and the recent indie comedy Ingrid Goes West alongside Aubrey Plaza and Elizabeth Olsen, which is due out this Summer. If you loved her in Guardians (and how could you not?!), there's luckily more Mantis in all of our futures; she'll reprise her role when Star-Lord and company join up with the rest of the Marvel superheroes in 2018's Avengers: Infinity War.
Melania Trump "Liked" a Tweet Implying She Hates Her Husband and We're Confused
As the first lady, Melania Trump should remember that every move she makes is documented, and quite often turned into a meme - whether it's her eyebrow-raising official White House portrait or the reaction to her giving Michelle Obama a Tiffany & Co. box on Inauguration Day; we see it all. But Trump's most recent behavior is more concerning than it is humorous.
The first lady may be using the official FLOTUS Twitter account, but back on her personal pre-FLOTUS account, someone "liked" a tweet that implied she does not like her husband. First spotted by Gizmodo reporter William Turton, the tweet read, "Seems the only #Wall @realDonaldTrump's built is the one between him and @FLOTUS," seen below.
Oh...my god http://pic.twitter.com/Mg959tOiBv
- William Turton (@WilliamTurton) May 3, 2017
While many were quick to assume this was Melania's subtle way of saying she's not happy in her marriage, we can't assume she did this "liking" herself. First of all, she hasn't tweeted from this account since November, and if she did feel this way, we don't think Twitter would be her first choice of ways to express her emotions.
A spokesperson told the New York Post that the first lady was unaware this happened on her account. "The First Lady wasn't aware of this until I brought it to her attention," spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham said. The "like" on the inflammatory tweet is now gone as well.
Grisham said she doesn't know if Melania's account had be hacked or if someone on her team "liked" the tweet. "Who knows . . . it isn't her primary account these days."
What do you think?
Some People Just Didn't Follow the Met Gala Theme - and We Have Feelings About It
Imagine showing up to a Halloween party in a Black Swan costume you meticulously crafted from a vintage black feathered tulle skirt, winged eyeliner you finally mastered (only after spending the better part of your evenings hunched over your bathroom mirror watching YouTube tutorials), and pointe shoes you can hardly walk in (but they make the look), and your friend walks in in a black American Apparel leotard and calls herself a ballerina. That's bullsh*t, and we're betting that's how Rihanna felt glancing around the Met Gala last night.
She was the black swan queen of the Costume Institute Gala, paying homage to the avant-garde Rei Kawakubo theme in a true Comme des Garcons masterpiece, even while others dressed down or maybe even completely ignored the gala theme altogether in minimalist looks from the likes of Calvin Klein (Gwyneth, we're looking at you). No, there's nothing actually wrong with the pretty looks - most of them would land these stars on the best dressed list of any other event - but please, not to the Met Gala. It makes me think of that moment in the Sex and the City movie, you know, when Carrie wears a bird in her hair and Big can't even show up to the altar. She put a bird on her head and wore it with a Vivienne Westwood gown - and he didn't even get out of the car. It's exactly like that (minus the whole jilted bride thing).
Rihanna boldly embraces the theme in something sculptural - and no doubt, hard to sit in - and Elle Fanning waltzes down the carpet in a soft strapless Miu Miu gown. Nope, not today, Elle. Of all the times to play it safe, it's certainly not when you're a celebrity who actually gets invited to participate in one of the most exciting red carpets of the year. If the dress code said black tie, would you show up in jeans?
Still, it happens every year. Despite the theme, which is obviously open to much interpretation, there are a majority of stars who just don't take their style cues from the invite, or, frankly, barely look like they're trying. I get the risk involved in putting on feathers or wearing a mask, or doing any number of things outside your comfort zone (and Comme des Garcons fashion can certainly take people outside their comfort zones), but come on - Helen Lasichanh didn't even have access to her arms. (Could she even eat? Or go to the bathroom?) That's commitment, people. Sure, the outrageous isn't the "prettiest" or the "sexiest" of the night, and there's certainly the threat of the "worst dressed list" to consider, but isn't being memorable something, too? And even more so, when did we stop having fun with fashion - especially when the event practically begs us to? At the very least, what about just showing up and putting it all out there with winged liner, a veiled headpiece, a tufted train, and a knowing smile that says, "I nailed it."

If Your Manager Doesn’t Do This, It’s Time to Quit
The following post was originally featured on Fairygodboss.
All the data bears out that women have it harder in the workplace: expectations are higher, evaluations are tougher, and biases persist.
So if you're going to rise above that maelstrom and succeed, you better have a manager who does one thing for you above all else: supports you.
What does true support from a manager look like? Consider these three case studies:
1. Does your manager support your judgment?
Susan was an impressive department leader with significant specialty knowledge in her field. She had two small children at home, and commuted more than one hour each day. Her commitment to her company was strong - and she had over 30 very loyal employees within her supervision and influence. She was definitely the kind of employee you want to hold onto.
One day, the finance department began to question Susan's selection of one particular vendor over another, with which the corporate parent had a connection. Susan knew that a change of providers could directly hurt revenues, so she fought hard against the finance team's suggestion. Yet they persisted, and Susan began to feel despondent and even question her commitment to her job.
Soon, though, Susan's manager, Stuart, stepped in to lend support. Stuart emphasized the value of Susan's judgment to the finance team, and took her side in the disagreement. His support not only eased the pressure from the outside department on Susan, but he renewed her energy and commitment - which were good for Susan and also the company. Had he left her without support, this story could have ended quite differently.
2. Does your manager support your career trajectory?
Louise was feeling stagnant in her role. She was a consistent performer, but she felt her contributions went unnoticed, and her future opportunities were limited. When she went to talk to her manager, Eleanor, she acknowledged Louise's feelings right away - and helped her pull together a career plan. Together, they assembled a list of five key people that Louise should meet, and Louise's manager made introductions for Louise.
Although it might mean losing a steady contributor, Eleanor was happy to help Louise fulfill the next chapter of her career - which will no doubt keep Louise engaged. And in helping Louise, others on Eleanor's team understood that they had a manager who wanted the best for her employees, so they became more motivated and felt more secure.
3. Does your manager support you - even when you make mistakes?
The last story is one about me! And it is one of my favorites. Right out of college, I had the fantastic opportunity to work for Estée Lauder in their fragrance marketing group. Part of my responsibility was to schedule and produce in-store promotions for the fragrances. For one Father's Day promotion, I decided that what we should do to support fragrance sales was to give away adorable stuffed puppies with the fragrance. I was certain that my idea was brilliant, but I have no idea why.
At any rate, my idea was not brilliant. It was terrible. And we ended up with about 9,500 unsold stuffed puppies. But did my manager say to me, "That was a terrible idea!"? Not at all. Without calling significant attention to my failure, he quietly donated the stuffed puppies to a children's hospital - and applauded my courage to try something new. Which of course, made me feel relieved, supported, and happy to work there.
In hindsight, my boss was not just a nice guy - although he most definitely was - but he was also fostering a culture of experimentation that is critically important for a large company that wants to compete nimbly in today's world.
If you answered "no" to any of these questions, it's time to start looking for your next job. Check out hundreds of jobs at great companies for women here.
Bye, Brad! Angelina Jolie Is Moving On to This Insane $25M Home
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt owned some serious real estate together, so it should come as no surprise that Angelina would want to move somewhere equally as impressive post split. And now it seems she's done just that. TMZ is reporting that the actress, humanitarian, and mother of six just plunked down nearly $25 million to become the owner of Cecil B. DeMille's legendary six-bedroom, 10-bathroom estate in the Los Feliz area of Los Angeles. The seller was represented by Brett Lawyer, Branden Williams, and of Rayni Williams of Hilton Hyland.
The historic Beaux-Arts-style home was built in 1913 and includes 11,000 square feet of space spread across multiple structures. A recent restoration project has modernized all amenities while leaving the home's original charm intact. Two acres of spectacular grounds, including rolling green lawns, landscaped pathways, quiet sitting areas, and a rose garden, are perfect for the children to explore. And then there's the Old Hollywood-style swimming pool with its dramatic arched foundations.
Neighborhood pool parties at the new Jolie pad are sure to be fun, considering Natalie Portman, Ellen Pompeo, David Fincher, and Will.I.Am. all live on the block. Take a tour of the stunning property in the video below and then check out a few highlights in the slideshow ahead.

- Sandpaper
- Mod Podge
- Foam brush
- Paintbrush
- Black acrylic paint

Directions:
- Select a picture that you'd like for creating the print. Resize the image using your computer until it is 6 by 6 inches and then print, using the best printer settings. Gather the other materials for creating the canvas print before getting started.
- Use a paper cutter to trim the image, creating a perfect square. You can position the print over the canvas to double-check its size, trimming as needed.
- Give the front of the canvas a quick sanding with fine sandpaper, which helps the Mod Podge really adhere to the print and canvas.
- With a foam brush, coat the front of the canvas with a layer of Mod Podge and then position the print, smoothing gently. Don't worry if there are any bumps or puckers, they will smooth out once the glue is dry. Let rest for an hour before the next step.
- Now coat the print with a layer of Mod Podge, working first horizontally with the foam brush and then vertically. Once again, don't worry about any bumps; they'll disappear as the canvas dries.
- Place a piece of scrap paper under the canvas, and coat the sides with black acrylic paint, which really makes this DIY look professional. Touch up the black paint if needed.
- Once dry, find the perfect spot for hanging the finished canvas print, or give it to a special someone as a gift.
David Beckham's "Dinner of Choice" Will Have You Screaming "What the F?"
We never thought we'd see the day where we were actually questioning David Beckham's level of sexiness, but his most recent choice of dinner has us a little perplexed, to say the least. On May 2, Beckham celebrated his 42nd birthday alongside his adorable family, but it's not his Benjamin Button aging tactics that are raising eyebrows; it's his "dinner of choice" and the bizarre combination of foods.
Beckham shared a photo of his plate on Instagram, pictured below.

We totally get it: it's his birthday and he can eat whatever he wants, but the visual of all the foods mashed up on the plate together has us feeling things about DB we never thought were possible. Let's break it down. According to Business Insider, Beckham's plate is filled with gammon (ham), a fried egg, coleslaw, two pineapple rings, mushy peas, baked beans, and potato wedges - quite the interesting combination.
When we think of Beckham's washboard abs and perfectly toned athletic physique, we assumed he preferred a protein-heavy meal or a huge rack of ribs for his birthday cheat dinner, so this array of mushy peas and pineapple rings definitely took us by surprise. Whatever floats your boat, Becks (and he definitely redeemed himself with this delicious-looking dessert below)!
