The Real Meaning Behind Cinco de Mayo, and Why Mexicans Don't Really Celebrate the Date

Another year, another Cinco de Mayo, another controversial statement, another stereotypical campaign, and another upset Mexican. I wish we could avoid this altogether and celebrate the day for what it really is; maybe learn a little bit about its history.

First things first, Cinco de Mayo is not Mexican Independence Day. In fact, as a Mexican-American with more than half of my family still living in Mexico, when the date comes around I don't think I receive a message even mentioning it from any of them. Every once in a while, though, a cousin finds humor in sending us screen shots of tweets or memes that mirror the ignorance in the celebration: "¿Ya se fijaron que hoy se celebra la independencia de México en los Estados Unidos? Jaja." Translation: "Did you see that the US is celebrating "Mexican Independence Day" today? LOL" Sounds about right.

So, when is Mexican Independence Day then? Sept. 16. And what do we celebrate on May 5? The Mexican army's 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla. While this victory didn't free Mexico from the French (this would happen months later), it did represent a great win for the country. Outnumbered and with poor supplies to fight the war, this triumph gave Mexicans hope, and the date evolved into a celebration of pride and culture. Yes, the country does acknowledge Cinco de Mayo, but it's mostly only celebrated in the state of Puebla and nowhere near as big or similar to how the festivities take place in the states. The $2 margaritas, two-for-one tacos, and wear-your-sombrero-to-work traditions will most likely only happen here on Cinco de Mayo, not south of the border.

Cinco de Mayo symbolizes unity and hope for the country, so how did the day evolved into what it has in the US? At some point, Mexican-Americans (or chicanos) adopted the day and began celebrating it. The idea was for them to promote their culture, history, vibrant colors, and musical diversity at a time where they felt oppressed. Now, instead, the meaning of Cinco de Mayo is a big confusion for most and a sales and marketing target for brands.

With Mexican roots, I take any opportunity to feel pride in my culture and ancestors.I do celebrate the day and victory. I will proudly congratulate my country with a tweet or Facebook post and maybe wear the rebozo, huipil, or embroidered shirt I purchased on my last trip to Jocotepec, Jalisco (that's where my family is from). However, I will also feel saddened by the fact that most won't acknowledge the date's symbolism appropriately. Instead, I will most likely have to hear incorrect statements made over and over again and plenty of "Yeah, I'm down for Drinko de Mayo and tequila shots! Viva Mexico!" from people mocking the commemoration and everything I stand for.

Cinco de Mayo isn't the only day that has evolved into an alcohol-driven fiesta, there are others. Will my frustration change anything? Probably not, but I do hope eventually, if we spread knowledge, we'll embody "culturas" for what they are; not only mine, but all. I am no one to pass up a two-for-one taco special, but it would be nice to come across a Cinco de Mayo where I don't have to hear of foolish behavior being broadcasted on national television for others to repeat or mindless comments allowing stereotypes to live and continue. Imagine, what would a Cinco de Mayo then look like? Sounds like a better holiday to me.

21 Rose Quartz Nail Art Ideas That Totally Rock

Though the practice of using healing crystals dates back to ancient Egypt, it is absolutely having a renaissance in 2017. That's why we are obsessed with the gorgeous rose quartz nail art trend.

Rose quartz is the perfect stone to re-create in manicure form as it supposedly has the power to incite a passion for beauty and creativity (both of which are at play in DIY nail art!). The crystal is also said to attract and promote feelings of love toward oneself and toward others. Hey, you can never have too many good vibes.

The technique itself is easy enough to master. Pick up a sheer rosy-pink nail polish (we like Essie Poppy Art Pink ($9)) and apply one coat, then doodle on little "veins" like a real crystal might have in shades of white, paler pink, or gold using a striping brush. Top with another coat of sheer pink and repeat until you have created a look you love. You can even spice it up with accent stones or half moons, or just use the manicure as a foundation for another artistic masterpiece. Read on to see our favorite examples from Instagram as well as a brief tutorial.

15 Times Jaden and Willow Smith Were the Coolest Siblings in Hollywood

Jaden and Willow Smith have a sibling bond like no other. It probably has something to do with the fact that they were raised by their superfamous parents, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith, or it could be their impeccable eye for fashion and creative ways of thinking. While most teenagers worry about finals and getting to school on time, these two fill their schedules with Met Gala red carpets and meet-ups with Drake. We may never know what makes Jaden, 18, and Willow, 16, so effortlessly cool, but we can admire their adorable relationship with these 15 photos.

This Is How Long You Can Expect to Bleed After Giving Birth, According to 2 Doctors

Something many first-time moms might not know in reference to what will happen with their bodies after giving birth is that they can expect to bleed. Understandably, the body goes through a pretty intense experience while birthing a child, so it continues to bleed vaginally - similar to a period - for a bit of time afterward. All it really comes down to is the body expelling the extra blood and tissue that it needed for the baby. But how long can you expect to bleed? And what are normal levels of bleeding? To find out, we asked two doctors to weigh in on it.

Iffath Hoskins, MD, clinical associate professor, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at NYU Langone Medical Center, said bleeding will typically last for about 10-14 days. Heather Rupe, MD, DO, OB/GYN at The Womens Group of Franklin and WebMD contributor, agreed with Dr. Hoskins and added that women can also see spotting for up to eight weeks post-childbirth.

New moms can expect the blood to be bright red and thick because of the tissue right after giving birth, Dr. Hoskins said, but as time goes on, it should change to a brown or orange shade. During this time, pads will be your friend, but it can get messy, so wearing some crummy clothes that you don't mind getting dirty is a good idea. The blood is not cause for alarm; however, if you're passing any clots or rapidly bleeding through pads, it might be time to check back in with your doctor. Dr. Hoskins also cites localized pain in the perineum, fever, and pus as other causes for concern.

Dr. Hoskins put it simply when she said, "No one ever died from being embarrassed about an unnecessary phone call. But postpartum bleeding and/or sepsis are known killers of mothers." We couldn't have said it better. If you're ever in doubt, it's always smart to ask your doctor for help.

6 Things I've Learned From My Abuelita Without Speaking the Same Language

6 Things I've Learned From My Abuelita Without Speaking the Same Language

Cara Delevingne: It's "Exhausting" to Deal With Society's Beauty Standards

ICYMI, Cara Delevingne debuted a drastic hair change on the Met Gala red carpet this year: a shaved (and silver!) head. And now that the Gala hype has settled, she's using her new 'do as a platform to address society's outdated standards for beauty.

Over the past few weeks, the model-actress has been snipping her strands little by little to prepare for her role in the upcoming film Life in a Year. But when she arrived at the Costume Institute Gala on May 1, our jaws dropped at her bald head, which she bedazzled and painted silver to match her sexy pantsuit. And damn, did she rock it!

To elaborate on her new appearance, Cara recently took to Instagram to post two powerful photos; in the first, she's all dolled up in head-to-toe silver, and in the second, she's makeup-less and wearing a sweatshirt. Though the stark contrast between the two photos is certainly noticeable, it's her captions that really speak volumes, as she perfectly sums up exactly why society's definition for beauty is so darn f*cked up.

In the first snapshot, she speaks of how empowering it is to find beauty from within, writing, "The more we embrace who we are as people and rely less on our physical attributes, the more empowered we become." She then explained how there's no singular definition for beauty, which we couldn't agree more with. "Beauty shouldn't be so easily defined. It is limitless," she wrote.

In her second post, Cara got real and opened up about how it's "exhausting to be told what beauty should look like." Again, she challenged readers to look inwardly, not outwardly, to find true beauty. "Strip away the clothes, Wipe Off the make up, cut off the hair. Remove all the material possessions. Who are we? How are we defining beauty? What do we see as beautiful?" she wrote in the photo's caption. We thought it wasn't possible to love Cara anymore than we already do, but these eloquent words of wisdom just made our obsession grow even more.

You May Not Know the Ladies of Twin Peaks, but You've Been Taking Cues From Their Looks

What can I say about David Lynch's cult '90s TV show, Twin Peaks? At first, I didn't know what to think when my boyfriend suggested we watch the show. Side note: he's a massive Lynch fan and constantly sings James's cringe-worthy song "Just You" for giggles. One episode in, I was hooked not just for the suspenseful storyline and Agent Dale Cooper's undying love of coffee (because same) but for the leading ladies' style, too. I even bought a David Lynch illustrated t-shirt by NYC brand DeerDana, for crying out loud.

The mastermind behind these iconic looks was costume designer Patricia Norris, and the show earned her an Emmy for outstanding costume design in a series in 1990. A majority of the show's costumes are quintessential '90s, and as you probably know, this era, including these sunglasses, is having a major moment. From Audrey Horne to Laura Palmer (and yes, even the Log Lady), let's revisit their biggest style moments from the classic '90s show just in time for the new season to air on Showtime on May 21.

Taylor Hill's Wearing the Sexy Red Swimsuit You're Seeing Everywhere

As you're shopping for swimsuits this season, you might want to consider a red one-piece. The classic style has become iconic thanks to Baywatch, but it's also a modern-day celebrity favorite among stars like Hailey Baldwin, Emily Ratajkowski, and Diane Kruger.

The bright, colorful option is versatile - it can be styled with denim shorts, a snapback, or even a pair of red sneakers - so it's about time you own one, too. If you want variations of the red one-piece, try a scalloped design or graphic print. We've rounded up a few of your favorite celebs rocking their go-tos plus shopping options to get you started.

Amal Clooney Looks Business Professional Right Until You See Her Shoes

Why is it that Amal Clooney's outfits are always so darn good? While arriving to give a speech at London's Chatham House, Amal looked elegant as ever. The lawyer and activist stepped out in a bright red shift dress and a camel-colored trench coat with a structured leather Altuzarra bag. Both the dress and the coat were vintage pieces - the coat was a Balmain number from the '60s and the loose-fitting dress was from the Dior A/W 1972 Haute Couture collection.

While her vintage outfit was on point, the real stars of the show were her vibrant Oscar de la Renta slingback heels that are perfect for Spring. Amal found the perfect way to incorporate a fun print with her business-professional attire, and we've gotta say we're all about it. She actually wore the same pair of shoes at another event back 2014. Check out her power ensemble and shop the heels ahead.

Jennifer Lopez Is So Happy With Alex Rodriguez, She Just Can't Help but Gush

Jennifer Lopez is glowing and gushing about her love of Alex Rodriguez. The 47-year-old singer and actress went on The Late Late Show With James Corden and spoke all about her new man.

James grilled her about her new boyfriend, and even though she didn't say much, she said enough for us to want to hear more. "He's the best. You would love him," she said. "He's a great guy. He's fun. He's awesome."

J Lo and A Rod have put their budding romance on display a lot recently. The couple made their red carpet debut at the Met Gala, and J lo also confessed she was actually the one who approached Alex at a restaurant.

See what else she had to say about their romance and what they did on their first date in the video above.

18 Reasons Adele Is the Role Model Our Kids - and We - Need in This World

Adele's résumé is already long and impressive, but I'd like to add a new piece to it: role model. My love and respect for Adele run deep, and for years she has been someone I look up to, but as I get older, I realize she is also someone I would be proud to say my kids believe is their role model. She is strong, she is successful, she is kind, and she is downright hilarious. Adele carries out her life with an air of confidence in herself and is unapologetic about sharing her feelings and opinions, no matter what they may be. As a wife and mother, she strives to fiercely protect her private life from the public but is never quiet about how much she loves her husband and son.

At only 29 years old, Adele has already accomplished so much, and she's endlessly humble about it. Yes, her success is inspirational, but her attitude toward life is more so. She is someone I shamelessly admire, and these 18 reasons are exactly why our kids should do the same.

If You Love Boobs, You'll Love This Ad For Breast Cancer Awareness

Here's the thing: social media still censors photos of breasts that include nipples, even if the photo is for breast cancer awareness. Why is this a big deal? Because women need to know what they're looking for to detect breast cancer. Thanks to this type of censorship, people can't circulate photos of actual breasts, so a photo of lemons emulating signs of breast cancer went viral. Seriously. It's a dozen lemons in an egg carton. We can't show boobs with breast cancer, but bring on the lemons with lumps!

Argentina's MACMA: Movimiento Ayuda Cáncer de Mama created the #EverybodyLovesBoobs song and campaign to break through censorship in the cheekiest of ways. This video is hilarious, albeit mildly disturbing, but shares a lot of truths about the impact of breast cancer.

More Proof That Obama Isn't Even a Little Bit Done With Politics

Former President Barack Obama has made it clear that he's most definitely still invested in politics - both here and abroad. On Thursday, May 4, Obama officially endorsed French presidential candidate Emmanuel Macron, the centrist candidate running against far-right leader Marine Le Pen. This comes just one day after the final debate between Macron and Le Pen.

"I have admired the campaign that Emmanuel Macron has run," Obama said in a Facebook video posted on Macron's official page. "He has stood up for liberal values, he put forward a vision for the important role that France plays in Europe and around the world. And he is committed to a better future for the French people. He appeals to people's hopes and not their fears."

The current presidential election in France shares some striking similarities to the 2016 election in the United States, with Le Pen sharing many of the same far-right views on issues like immigration as President Donald Trump. While it's uncommon for a former United States president to endorse a candidate in an international election, it speaks volumes that Obama has publicly spoken out against Le Pen.

"I'm not planning to get involved in many elections now that I don't have to run for office again, but the French election is very important to the future of France and to the values that we care so much about," Obama said. "Because of how important this election is, I also want you to know that I am supporting Emmanuel Macron to lead you forward."

Although President Trump said he was not officially endorsing a candidate in the French election, he has spoken about supporting Le Pen more broadly, telling the Associated Press she is "strongest on borders, and she's the strongest on what's been going on in France."

Le Pen's views are strongly anti-immigrant and anti-Muslim. She comes from a powerful family - her father was a former leader of the far-right National Front party she heads - and has made it clear that if elected, she would attempt to pull France out of the European Union, seek to ban Muslim women from wearing headscarves in public, and end free education for children of undocumented immigrants.

The final runoff vote is on Sunday.

Everything You Need to Know About Sylvester Stallone's Role in Guardians of the Galaxy 2

Spoilers for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 below!

If your head is spinning by the time you finish watching Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, you're not alone. The sequel to the 2014 Marvel flick is a dizzying, colorful ride that brings Star Lord, Gamora, Drax, Baby Groot, and Rocket into contact with a bunch of new characters. On top of meeting a lovable Empath and Peter Quill's real dad, we're also treated to a small but significant cameo from Sylvester Stallone. Though it might feel like he's barely on screen, director James Gunn has already confirmed that the character, Stakar, definitely has a future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. So, who is he exactly?

His Comic Book Origins

Stakar aka Starhawk first popped up in Marvel comics in the mid-'70s thanks to comic book artist and writer team Sal Buscema and Steve Gerber. The character was born on the monastery planet of Vesper in 2002 (which, back then, was the not-too-distant future) to parents Kismet and Quasar. He inherited powers like superhuman strength, immortality, and flight, and went on to accomplish things like making a few babies with his adopted sister, Aleta (yes, really), and helping the Guardians of the Galaxy save Earth. Fortunately Starhawk's appearance in the movie is far less complicated.

His Role in the MCU

Though the Starhawk moniker is never referenced, it's assumed Stallone's Stakar is a version of the character from the comics. In the MCU, he's the tough (but fair) leader of a Ravager faction that Yondu used to be a part of, until the blue-faced space pirate's accidental child trafficking got him kicked out of the confederation of cosmic mercenaries. Stakar has a large team, including his sister Aleta (Michelle Yeoh), the crystal-skinned Martinex (Michael Rosenbaum), gruff Charlie-27 (Ving Rhames), and more. All of the aforementioned characters also appeared in the comics in one form or another, though their backgrounds will likely be changed to fit the narrative of future films.

Stan Lee's Guardians of the Galaxy 2 Cameo Is More Important Than You Think

You can't watch a movie from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and not expect to see Stan Lee. The iconic comic-book writer, who's responsible for creating many of the Marvel heroes we hold dear, has popped up over and over again in cheeky cameos, but have his appearances been more important than a simple tip of the hat? Some fans seem to think so, and given his latest part in Guardians of the Galaxy 2, we're inclined to agree.

Spoilers for Guardians of the Galaxy 2 below!

In the Guardians of the Galaxy sequel, Lee appears not once but twice. We get our first glimpse of the Marvel chairman when Yondu, Rocket, Groot, and Kraglin are hopping through realms over a planet in their spaceship, where he's regaling a group of aliens on the surface with tales of his time as a FedEx employee (a reference to his cameo in Captain America: Civil War). The second time we see him is during the fifth and final postcredits scene, which is a continuation of his first appearance. He asks the aliens to stay and listen ("I've still got more stories to tell!"), but they get bored and walk away. The aliens he's talking to aren't random - they're members of The Watchers, an ancient extraterrestrial race in charge of passively observing everything that happens in the universe. Though they're all-seeing, The Watchers are banned from ever interfering in the phenomena of the universe (they're not called The Do-ers) (sorry). In fact, their behavior is pretty similar to how Lee behaves in all of his cameos, don't you think?

It turns out that Lee is indeed a member of The Watchers, and he's been playing the same "character" in all of his cameos this whole time. In an interview with The Radio Times, Guardians director James Gunn revealed he specifically chose to include the scenes with Lee as a nod to the Watchers theory fans have been wondering about for so long. "I mean, you know there's a lot of cool stuff that the fans come up with," he said. "A lot of stuff I don't agree with, you know, people have ideas about what they think should happen in the MCU. But I find the idea that Stan Lee is a Watcher, or that he works for the Watchers, is just a fun little nod to the fans."

The head of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, further confirmed the theory. "We always thought it would be fun. Stan Lee clearly exists, you know, above and apart from the reality of all the films," he said. "So the notion that he could be sitting there on a cosmic pit stop during the jump gate sequence in Guardians was something very fun – James had that idea and we shot that cameo and loved it so much, you know, you see it a couple of times in the movie. It wasn't in for a long time and we put it back in towards the end of the process where he references that time he was a Federal Express agent – we thought it would be fun to put that in there because that really says, so wait a minute, he's this same character who's popped up in all these films."

Bradley Cooper Can't Stop Laughing on The Ellen Show, and Now Neither Can We

Bradley Cooper technically made his first postbaby appearance at the beginning of April when he stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show to try and put an end to the host's selfie war with a teenager. But on Friday, he actually sat down in a chair with Ellen to talk about a handful of random things, and we love it so much. Bradley, who welcomed his first child, daughter Lea, with girlfriend Irina Shayk at the end of March, was a barrel of laughs when he talked about everything from being frequently mistaken for Zach Galifianakis to admitting that he googles himself in his free time. But the funniest part of all came when Ellen brought up that infamous scene with a fake baby in American Sniper. "I know you don't want to talk about the baby, but I knew you'd be a good father when I saw you in American Sniper," Ellen said. Bradley then laughs so hard while the audience rewatches the cringe-worthy scene.

It's Hard to Miss Who Kate Middleton's Stylist Channeled on Her Wedding Day

Stylist Natasha Archer - the woman behind Kate Middleton's countless elegant looks - got married at a chateau next to Bordeaux, France this past weekend. The Duchess of Cambridge's personal stylist married Chris Jackson, who also works closely with the royal family as a Getty Images photographer.

While the ceremony was stunning, we couldn't help but notice the major similarities between the dress Natasha wore and Kate's Alexander McQueen wedding dress - both have elegant lace sleeves, a sweetheart neckline, and a long train. We have to say we're not that surprised, since they clearly have similar taste in fashion. Scroll on to have a look at the similarities between the weddings dresses below.

This Modern Parenting Necessity Could Be Hurting Your Child's Speech

As modern technology has evolved to address the needs and desires of adults, it's also affected the way - or how often - children use technology. Although so-called screen time has been a blessing for many parents, a new study is outlining some alarming repercussions.

In a study that was presented at the 2017 Pediatric Academic Societies Meeting on May 4, researchers led by Dr. Catherine Birken found a link between screen time and speech delays in children between the ages of 6 months and 2 years. The study has yet to be published for public viewing, however, the findings presented at the meeting have been widely reported.

According to CNN, the study had the parents of 900 different children record the amount of time their children spent using tablets, smartphones, or other gaming devices. Researchers then examined the children's speech using different language tests.

Of the 900 participants, 20 percent spent 28 minutes a day looking at a screen by the time they were 18 months old. The bad news? With every 30-minute increase in daily screen time, researchers noted a nearly 50 percent increased risk of speech delay - meaning a difficulty with producing speech sounds, as opposed to gestures.

That being said, this is the first study of its kind, and more research will also need to be done on whether different types of content could have varied effects on children. In an interview with CNN, Dr. Birken explained, "It's the first time that we've sort of shone a light on this potential issue, but I think the results need to be tempered [because] it's really a first look."

For now, Dr. Birken is advising parents to avoid screen time for any children younger than 18 months old.

It's Hard to Miss the Symbolism Behind Melania Trump's Yellow Christian Dior Dress

There is often a lot of symbolism behind Melania Trump's wardrobe choices. From the very first time she sparked controversy, opting for a pink Gucci pussy-bow blouse days after Donald Trump's infamous Accesss Hollywood conversation tape was leaked, we began reading into her well-considered looks.

While meeting the Australian prime minister in New York, Melania wore an asymmetrical Christian Dior dress. But it wasn't the silk crepe dress that caught everyone's attention, it was the shade of the dress that sparked conversation. It seems like Melania strategically chose the Dior number because it was Australia's national color - similar to the time she wore Valentino red upon meeting with China's president. Scroll to see Melania's yellow Christian Dior dress for yourself.

Nicole Richie's Man Chest Outfit on Lip Sync Battle Can't Be Unseen

Nicole Richie pulled out all the stops when she competed against John Michael Higgins during Thursday night's Lip Sync Battle. While her Great News costar performed a groovy version of Tom Jones's "It's Not Unusual" (complete with the world's tightest pants), Nicole really stole the show with her Marky Mark impression. Singing "Good Vibrations" by Mark Wahlberg's hip-hop group, Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch, she threw it back to the '90s with a muscle t-shirt, baggy jeans, and a lot of pelvic thrusts. We definitely think Mark would be proud of those moves.

Gigi Hadid Found a Way For You to Wear Your Sports Bra to Dinner

The power of a sports bra extends beyond the gym, and Gigi Hadid just showed us a new way to style it. While out with sister Bella in NYC, the model wore a mesh bodysuit that showed off her black zip-up workout bra. Your go-to undergarment might be a lacy bralette, but yet again Gigi makes the case for a trendy athletic piece with street style pull.

Given how revealing her top half was, the star chose to stay covered on the bottom. She wore a green flannel button-down with matching pants and a pair of black pointy-toed boots - casual, but cute enough to wear to dinner with friends. If you haven't worn a sports bra under your bodysuit, we think it's time you try. Ahead, get inspired then shop the look.

Of Course Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump Made a Cameo on Gossip Girl

It makes perfect sense that two of New York City's scions of real estate fortune would appear on a fictional series that chronicles that wealthy world. Back in 2010, Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner appeared on an episode of The CW's Gossip Girl. Conceptually, it's not that surprising the couple made a cameo, but to see the scene now given their current positions in the White House is a bit jarring.

A Twitter user who goes by Mawwgie shared a short clip of the moment, and it immediately took off online.

Kushner and Trump appear in the episode titled "Easy J" as guests at a New York Observer party, a newspaper that Kushner owns in reality. The main character Serena Van Der Woodsen's love interest Colin (played by Sam Page) introduces the couple.

"Thank you, Jared, and thank you, Ivanka, for marrying Jared and giving someone else the chance to win Bachelor this year," Colin jokes as he accepts the title.

Predictably, the internet is in a frenzy over Trump and Kushner's brief acting stint. Although the cameo is arguably not an enormous endeavor in theater, they're literally playing the roles they were born to play.

Adam Scott's Reaction to Finally Meeting His Hero, Mark Hamill, Is So Freakin' Cute

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, a young Adam Scott invited his hero, Star Wars actor Mark Hamill, to his second birthday party. While sitting down on Jimmy Kimmel Live with temporary host Kristen Bell on Thursday night, the Big Little Lies star explained that although Mark never showed up, his love for the actor has never waned. Then, in the middle of their conversation, the Star Wars theme music blasted through the studio, and Luke Skywalker himself strolled on stage. If you need a reason to smile today, Adam's incredibly cute reaction to seeing him in the flesh for the first time should do the trick.

Bombay Sapphire Gin Is Being Recalled For Having Double the Alcohol Content

Bombay Sapphire gin bottles are being recalled in Canada, and the reason has many people running to liquor stores to stock up! The Liquor Control Board of Ontario (also known as the Party Police) discovered that some bottles of Bombay Sapphire London Dry Gin contained almost double the alcohol content that is listed on the bottle. According to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, the batch of bottles affected were bottled before being diluted to the proper 40 percent alcohol content by volume and, instead, came out with 77 percent.

The bottles have a product code of "L16304" and have since been removed from stores. Bacardi, the distributor of Bombay gin products, has asked customers with these bottles to return them as soon as possible.

If you picked up a 1.14-liter bottle of Bombay Sapphire London Dry Gin recently, you should definitely check the label, but we'll let you decide what to do next.

This 3-Year-Old Girl's Choice For a School Picture Outfit Is Nothing Short of Heroic

My daughter got to pick what she wore for her school pictures. Daddy approves from aww

Kaylieann is not your average 3-year-old - she's a superhero and she knows it. When her father, Austin Steinbach, asked Kaylieann what she wanted to wear for school picture day she didn't have to think twice before deciding on a Supergirl costume. In a Reddit post, Austin explained that his daughter has always loved Superman, but because she is 75 percent deaf in both ears and cannot hear the letter "S," she calls her favorite superheros "Pooterman" and "Pootergirl."

Picture day can be a nightmare no matter how old your children are, but when Austin and his wife picked out three outfit choices for Kaylieann, she had a better option in mind. "She walked up, looked over each of her choices, turned and said 'Pootergirl!' And well, I couldn't argue with that answer," Austin said.

He explained that his daughter often wears other costumes to her preschool, sometimes dressing up as Spider Man, Batman, Wonder Woman, and Anna from Frozen, and with Halloween coming up, Kaylieann definitely has some big decisions to make!

Austin has already addressed next year's school photo outfit: "I think this one is going to be hard to beat."

This Frozen-Themed Promposal With Kristen Bell Is Both Adorable and Incredibly Awkward

Kristen Bell is a total pro at hosting late night television. On Thursday, the actress subbed in for Jimmy Kimmel, who stayed at home to be with his newborn son Billy. After delivering a hilarious opening monologue, the mom of two also helped one lucky high school student pull off an incredible Frozen-themed promposal. During a fake game of "The Fast and the Frozenest," one girl in the audience got a huge surprise when the masked Kristoff she was tasked with finding was actually one of her high school classmates. Kristen then channeled her famous character, Anna, to sing a revised version of "Do You Want to Build a Snowman?" to help him ask her to prom. With a grand gesture like that, she couldn't help but say yes.

OK, For Real - Would You Pay Over 1K For a Mood Ring?

Sure, I had mood rings in my childhood days, but they were mostly made of plastic and came from the machines that offer a random prize for a quarter. Most of the time, I even overlooked the mood ring section at Claire's or Limited Too, heading straight for the wiry chokers or tie-dye terry cloth headbands. But with '90s trends back in style, it was only a matter of time before these magical little accessories found their way back into our lives - just maybe not for $1,150.

Designer Leo Sachs-Michaels created one plated in 14K gold for her Brooklyn-based brand Leo Black, and the color-changing crystals are sourced from Canada. "My first mood ring was a thick, color-changing band with silver glitter inside, [and it] felt like a portal to my soul. There are many pieces I wish I had held on to and could wear, but they haven't aged well. I wanted women to have access to playful jewelry that they could connect with on a gut level," the jeweler explained to Well + Good.

Whether or not you think this particular piece is worth the high price point, the oval-shaped design is definitely gorgeous. And at the end of the day, if you're just psyched that mood rings are back, and you can't wait to stack them with the rest of your baubles, you can always pick up a more affordable version. Maybe not for a quarter, but it might be worth it to shell out the cash for a nostalgic ring that reflects your aura. Scroll to decide.
