This Potty-Mouthed Grandma Baking a Gluten-Free Cake Will Make You Giggle For Days

Peggy Glenn, everyone's favorite cursing grandma, is making us double over laughing with her latest cooking adventure. Known on YouTube as Granny PottyMouth, Peggy recently shared a video in which she bakes a birthday cake for her grandson. Except it's not your average, run-of-the-mill birthday cake, as she starts the video by declaring, "Today I'm going to attempt a f*cking miracle: a damn cake with no eggs, no flour, and no butter."

That's right - Peggy was on a mission to make a vegan and gluten-free cake to suit her grandson's "trendy diet." While concocting the cake, the comedic grandma shared some of the ingredients, such as vanilla, xanthan gum, and "just a little bit of brown sugar - not too much." But the key ingredient in the cake batter? "Organic pumpkin!" the comedic granny exclaims. "Can you f*cking believe? Pumpkin and chocolate instead of eggs and butter."

While mixing the batter, she compares it to "runny dog sh*t," although she admits that it sure doesn't taste like it once the cake comes out of the oven. Granny PottyMouth wraps up the entertaining cake tutorial by patting herself on the back for the surprisingly tasty dessert. "Nothing says love like your granny baking you a fine-ass birthday cake," she says. "Gluten-free, my ass. That's f*cking delicious."

Watch her video above, and prepare to get your daily (or weekly) dose of giggles.

This Ikea Purchase Is the Answer to All Your Small-Closet Problems

Tiny closets are a source of stress and frustration almost all small-space dwellers can relate to, but when you have to share that tiny closet with your significant other, battle lines are drawn. I should know. My husband and I tried to make due with his and hers dressers and a hanging clothes rack for a while, but the exposed rack of clothes and overflowing dressers just weren't cutting it. A wardrobe was needed. Not just any wardrobe, though. We needed his and hers wardrobes that could be customized, easily assembled, and purchased for less than a small fortune. Like any online editor would do, I took my quest to Pinterest where I discovered the answer to my problem: Ikea's Pax Wardrobe System. The interior organizing possibilities are seemingly endless, it was in stock at my local Ikea, and it was an option we could actually afford. After studying and pinning some inspiration pictures culled from other bloggers' Pax projects, my husband and I purchased one for each of us and customized them for our needs. Here's what I did with mine!

Selena Gomez Just Won the Daughter of the Year Award For This Adorable Present

Let's just get this out of the way by saying Selena Gomez just won the daughter of the year award for her latest Instagram post. The singer, who earlier this week walked the Met Gala red carpet in a gorgeous dress by Coach, posted the most adorable picture of herself with mother Mandy Teefy.

As an early Mother's Day present, Selena gifted her mother with a custom Coach handbag with her initials monogrammed on its tag. We know Selena is a fan of anything customizable since her Met Gala purse also featured a secret message written on the bottom.

Since Selena's the brand ambassador for Coach, we're assuming it cost her absolutely nothing, but still, it's the thought that counts and we're fans of anything you can personalize. Have a look at the adorable moment ahead and shop similar versions for your mom (or for yourself) ahead.

The Photo of This Baby Will Make You Do a Jaw-Dropping Double Take

Source: Reddit user bretstar

Why, oh why, is this beautiful baby squished into a tube?!

Your first thought upon stumbling onto this photo might very well be, "This has to be a photoshop joke . . . " But it's not a joke at all - this baby is sitting in a very real contraption called a Pigg-O-Stat, and it leaves a lot of room for questions about life, the world, and everything we have come to understand about modern medicine.

The Pigg-O-Stat is an X-ray machine for babies, designed to position and hold infants during the scan without significant complications and to attempt getting a clear image the first time, resulting in less exposure to radiation.

Although the idea is kind of genius, the photo, which was submitted on Reddit, has elicited a lot of confused - and hilarious - comments. Our favorites: "It looks like that baby is about to be sent through the tubes at the bank drive through," and, "Augustus Gloop: The Early Years," a casual Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory reference.

So what do you think about the Pigg-O-Stat? Would you let your baby in one?

President Obama's New DC Home Needed 1 Major Construction Change For Privacy

The Obama family moved out of the White House in January, but before they could move into their beautiful $5.3 million DC rental, construction crews had to make some last-minute upgrades. According to TMZ, a brick wall was built to fortify the property and the garage was turned into an office with a bathroom, presumably for the Secret Service to use.

The Obamas will be renting the nine-bedroom, eight-and-a-half-bathroom home until Sasha graduates, making former President Barack Obama the first president to stay in Washington DC after his term since Woodrow Wilson. The home, located in the upscale Kalorama neighborhood, is clearly being protected with all the necessary security measures. And in addition to a new brick wall, the Obamas also got a new neighbor - Ivanka Trump and her family moved in just two blocks away to be closer to President Donald Trump in the White House.

Wait! Check This 1 Detail Before You Send Off Your Résumé

You want to get on the hiring manager's good side, right? There's one common but easily avoidable mistake that candidates make, and it's one that seriously annoys those in charge of sorting through applicants. It's all about the way you save your résumé.

It might sound nitpicky, but hiring managers prefer when attached résumés are labeled with the applicant's name. Instead of saving and sending a file labeled "Résumé," give your résumé a file name that has your name on it. This small move simplifies the process for hiring managers who are dealing with a slew of applications. It's not much effort for you to save your résumé as "Jane Smith Résumé," and it's a positive first step toward pleasing the person in charge of hiring.

The Cast of It Attends the MTV Movie and TV Awards Without Any Clowns, Thank God

The cast of the upcoming It reboot is just as adorable as the trailer is scary (translation: very). While attending the MTV Movie and TV Awards on Sunday, Chosen Jacobs, Sophia Lillis, Wyatt Oleff, Finn Wolfhard, Jack Dylan Grazer, Jeremy Ray Taylor, and Jaeden Lieberher blessed us with a number of fun photo ops on the red carpet. Thankfully the Losers Club left Pennywise (aka actor Bill Skarsgard, who's actually pretty cute IRL) at home to spare us some nightmares, but we can't say the same about their creepy introduction of a new clip from the horror flick later on the show.

Looking at Darren Criss Showering in a Speedo Should Be Your No. 1 Priority

Darren Criss did the world a lovely service on Wednesday when he stepped out in a Speedo to film scenes for the upcoming season of American Crime Story. The former Glee star showed off his body in the tiny pink number while showering on the beach in Miami. While season one of the show focused on the O.J. Simpson murder trial, season two will deal with the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, and season three (which Darren is currently filming) focuses on the 1997 death of Gianni Versace. Darren plays Andrew Cunanan, the serial killer who murdered the fashion designer on the front steps of his Miami home. While the actor is portraying a horrific character on the small screen, we can still stare at these pictures of Darren in a tiny Speedo for as long as we want (which is a very long time).

8 Things You Never Knew About Taco Bell, Straight From a Former Employee

If you've always wondered what it's like behind the scenes of Taco Bell, you've come to the right place. We've compiled a former Taco Bell employee's secrets from a Reddit AMA ("Ask Me Anything") conversation in which he described what he learned throughout his year of working at the fast-food restaurant. Ahead, discover little-known facts about Taco Bell's iconic cheese sauce, how to save money on your order, and more.

If you're rude, you might not get the extra cheese you ordered.

A concerned customer asked, "When I pay more for extra cheese on my soft tacos, it looks like the same amount. Is 'extra cheese' even a real thing?" And the employee revealed that sometimes the "extra" requests are ignored. "I will admit there are times when I do just put the same amount when people would be assh*les, but there's also times people were nice and we'd put like five times extra. The true amount that extra is is just double, but the thing is it doesn't come with that much to begin with. It's supposed to be a 'one finger pinch' of cheese."

The cheese doesn't expire for a REALLY long time.

When someone asked which Taco Bell foods are "real," the employee responded, "Well, everything comes in bags. We don't actually make any of it there, we just heat it up, so I don't know exactly what cuts of meat we use but I did once hear a manager who had worked at Taco Bell for 15 years on and off tell me that the beef is all USDA choice. As far as cheese, it's real but it also doesn't expire for a very, very, very long time (like almost a year) so it's got to be full of preservatives (it gets used quickly so it's not that old, that's just the expiration date relative to when we get it)."

Don't forget about the free additions and swaps.

If you want to customize your order, there are a few swaps you can make for free. "You can swap [refried] beans for black beans for free and red sauce for green sauce for free and [iceberg] lettuce for romaine lettuce for free and add onions/red sauce/green sauce for free to anything." Vegetarians can also substitute meat for beans and rice at no extra charge. Also, "The burritos on the dollar menu are about the same size as the other regular burritos but like 30 cents cheaper."

You can order a side of beef and a taco shell to make a cheaper taco.

Many people often order tacos without lettuce, cheese, or both, and if that sounds like you, you'd be better off ordering a side of beef and a taco shell instead. "It's cheaper to order a side of beef and a side of a taco shell (or tortilla for a soft taco) and put them together. You could also ask them to just make it like a taco and most people would be perfectly willing to."

The best-kept secret is the Nacho Cheese Chicken Chalupa.

Taco Bell's Chicken Chalupa typically has a generous dollop of sour cream on top, but you can order the Nacho Cheese Chicken Chalupa instead to make it extra cheesy. Someone wanted to know if that was a common order, and the employee said, "People order that all the time but we always ask if they still want the sour cream because 50 percent do and 50 percent don't."

The best thing on the menu is . . .

The Cheesy Gordita Crunch. "If it's a fresh one it's flavor heaven," the employee said. A Cheesy Gordita Crunch is a hard taco wrapped in a soft flour tortilla and stuffed with beef, spicy ranch, cheese, and lettuce.

Employees get a 50 percent discount.

If you love Taco Bell, working there might be awesome for you. Employees get a 50 percent discount for up to $5, as long as they've worked at least two hours of their shift.

The taco meat has caramel coloring.

Someone wanted to know what was in the "taco juice," aka what makes Taco Bell's meat so juicy. The employee wasn't entirely sure, but responded with, "You mean what's in the meat? Mostly it's smoke flavoring and caramel coloring."

How Selena Quintanilla Changed the Way I Saw Myself as a Mexican-American

Selena Quintanilla is known to many as the queen of Tejano music and a Latina icon, but for me, a first-generation Mexican-American born and raised in Los Angeles, Selena was much more than that: she was me.

Aside from inspiring my signature hairstyle (I've been pairing my long dark hair with bangs, just like Selena did, since kindergarten), Selena inspired me to embrace my Mexican-American blood, something that sometimes seemed like a disadvantage growing up.

My parents both immigrated to the US from Mexico in their teens, but you probably wouldn't be able to tell by looking at me . . . at least that's what I've been told most of my life.

Light-skinned and freckled, I was constantly told as a child that I did not look like my extended morena family. My mother is light-skinned and my father is dark, but to many of my classmates, that did not matter. I looked "white," and even worse: I sounded white.

My mother, who was always overprotective of me, wanted to make sure that I received the best private education her and my father's minimum-wage-paying jobs could afford, so they enrolled me in a private school located on Van Nuys Blvd. in the ultra-Latinx neighborhood of Pacoima. Because it was a private institution, not that many Latinx families could afford their steep prices, so my school was still predominantly white.

Though Spanish was my first language, I did not use it enough during my childhood because only English was spoken during the day. I struggled to learn a new language in school and still speak my native tongue at home - the task was so intimidating that I chose to not speak at all, which led to being painfully shy and a hatred for public speaking.

My private school education didn't last long, though. My parents couldn't afford the constant skyrocketing prices, so they enrolled me into a public school less than a mile away. It was Olive Vista Middle School, almost entirely Latinx and bilingual.

I was terrified.

It wasn't until the sixth grade that I first heard the word "whitewash." Though my last name and parents were clearly Mexican (my mother still cannot speak English to this day), my classmates always assumed I was either Caucasian or not Latina enough.

Middle school and, later down the line, high school were a strange journey. I was either never American enough (I grew up watching Don Francisco, not Oprah) or not Latina enough (I grew up listening to My Chemical Romance, not reggaeton). Though I felt like a black sheep struggling to embrace her Latina culture without being ridiculed, I had an ally, a role model who was also conflicted: Selena Quintanilla.

She made being Mexican-American look so easy. I wanted that.

I was 7 years old when the 1997 Selena biopic came out, but I had listened to the queen of Tejano's music for years, growing up with hits like "Amor Prohibido" and "Como La Flor." I remember being in awe that someone like Selena - Mexican-American and bilingual - not only existed but was successful. She was rubbing elbows with Cristina on one channel and speaking English with American reporters on prime-time news. She made being Mexican-American look so easy. I wanted that.

When I heard the news that Selena was shot to death by her fan club founder Yolanda Saldivar, I remembered being outraged: we had lost a role model the Latinxs needed. She was one of the first voices for first-generation kids, a community that was underrepresented and hardly spoken about.

The Selena biopic, which premiered two years after her death, perfectly encapsulated this. From Selena's father Abraham's (played by Edward James Olmos) early struggles as a Mexican musician who enjoys playing American oldies to Selena's difficulty singing and speaking in Spanish, Selena was possibly the most important movie for Latinxs everywhere that year, and beyond.

"We have to be more Mexican than the Mexicans and more American than the Americans."

In one of the movie's most infamous scenes, Abraham, who is arguing with Selena about whether she should take up a gig in Monterrey, Mexico, perfectly describes the struggles first-generation and second-generation kids live with in a couple sentences: "We have to be more Mexican than the Mexicans and more American than the Americans, both at the same time," he says. "It's exhausting!"

Those words meant so much to me as a teen, and even more as an adult. It was that very thing I wish I could yell from the rooftops after a difficult AP Spanish class or after having a classmate tell me, yet again, "You're so white."

On the 22nd anniversary of Selena's death, a group of friends and I went to a screening of Selena at a theater in Los Feliz. The singalong screening was entirely sold out and packed with Latinx millennial fans in Selena costumes and "Anything For Selenas" t-shirts.

When it got to that famous Mexican-American scene, the theater erupted with cheers. Apparently almost every kid sitting in that theater felt like me. They too struggled with their blended identity as Mexican-Americans - and then I realized: I was actually never really alone.

WTF: A Woman Was Denied a Second Job Interview For Asking This Question

On Monday, March 13, Taylor Byrnes tweeted screenshots of the response she received from SkiptheDishes after asking about pay and benefits following her first interview at the food delivery service in Winnipeg, Canada. "Applied for a job at @SkipTheDishes. They cancelled my interview b/c I asked about wages/benefits," she wrote in a now-viral tweet.

"Hi Victoria, I had another question that I wanted to ask you," Byrnes's initial email reads. "If I do end up filling this position, how much do you think I'll be getting paid an hour? Benefits will also be included, right? Sorry, I just thought I should ask now. Thanks for your time and have a lovely day," she concluded.

Screenshots show that Victoria responded, "Hello Taylor, your questions reveal that your priorities are not in sync with those of SkipTheDishes. At this time we will not be following through with our meeting this Thursday." In a follow-up email, Victoria called out qualities the company looks for in employees, including "hard work and perseverance in pursuit of company goals as opposed to focusing on compensation."

"For these reasons, questions about compensation and benefits at such an early stage is a concern related to organizational fit."

After the screenshots were posted and shared across social media, Byrnes received yet another response from the company, this time from its cofounder, who expressed disappointment with the way the situation was handled. The company also shared its screenshots on its Twitter page to rectify the backlash from people who were calling for a boycott of SkipTheDishes.

SkipTheDishes cofounder Joshua Simair addressed the controversy in an emailed statement to POPSUGAR, writing, "We are very disappointed in how it was handled. We do share a compensation package prior to hiring. As soon as we became aware of it on Monday, we reached out to Taylor to apologize for the email and reschedule her interview."

Simair also revealed that the company would be changing internal policies to make sure it doesn't happen again. "We've also addressed the email internally and will be providing additional training. We are very committed to our community, employees and continuing to grow and create employment opportunities in the Prairies."

Although Byrnes has received an outpouring of support for standing up for herself, there is still a dispute over whether or not her questions were appropriate to ask. Seeing as it's important for women to ask about pay upfront so that they get what they deserve, we'd say the answer is yes.

We've reached out to Byrnes for comment and will update this story if we hear back.

Caffeinated Bagels Are a Thing, and Mornings Will Never Be the Same

1 Mom's Honest Perspective After Her Child Was Left to Die in a Hot Car

Twenty-six. That's the number of heatstroke deaths of children left in cars in 2016. That's already two more than last year's final count, and the hottest season of the year isn't even over yet.

Many parents hear the news stories about these deaths and immediately think, "I could never do that." Maybe that's true, but there's a good chance that the parents of the 26 children lost this year thought the exact same thing. These hot car accidents happen so often that it seems as if they'll never stop being "a thing," but one family is choosing to speak out about their daughter, Lily, whose dad forgot her in the back of his car.

On the day 5-month-old Lily died, her dad forgot to drop her off at day care and drove straight to work without realizing, until he went to pick her up at the end of the day. Lily's mother, who has forgiven her husband for his thoughtless mistake, told KHOU about that life-changing day.

"Normally, I take the older two kids to school, but today, he was trying to bless me and took all three of them. . . . When he walked up to the [day care] door, they just looked at him and said, 'She hasn't been here all day.' There were 15 seconds of 'How could he do that?' Immediately instant forgiveness washed over me."

Since her daughter's death, Lily's mom has been writing letters to other parents who have gone through this same nightmare and has shared her story on camera to show that healing is possible - that this could happen to anyone. "If I can help one family, one child . . . " she said. "It's important for people to know that it happens to good people."

Neon Lips Are Here to Make You Look Like an Intergalactic Space Diva

The latest out-of-this-world makeup trend that's about to take over Instagram? Neon lip art! We've already seen (and swooned over) the edgy 3D effects of neon eyeliner, but now the blinding, '80s-esque trend is making its way to our pouts. We hate to indulge the overused term, but it's pretty darn lit, if we do say so ourselves.

We first came across the neon lip look via talented makeup artist Genevieve Jauquet, who regularly stuns us with her impressively artistic beauty skills. To achieve the one-of-a-kind pout above, Genevieve dabbed on a black lip cream in the center of her lips, followed by a matte pink one to fill in the outer edges. Then, to get that glowing effect, she followed up by using a thin brush to swipe on white lip cream near (but not touching) the edges of her top and bottom lips. Her personal finishing touch? Glitter! The results are a lightsaber-like look that both Jedis and space divas would approve of.

Ahead, see how Genevieve and other committed beauty mavens put their lips in the spotlight with this luminous, hypnotizing trend.

Aww, Millie Bobby Brown Started Sobbing at the MTV Movie and TV Awards

Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown beat out Donald Glover, Emilia Clarke, Gina Rodriguez, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and Mandy Moore to win best actor in a TV show at the MTV Movie and TV Awards on Sunday, and she could not handle it. The pint-size actress started crying before she even made it to the stage. She seems genuinely floored to be honored with the golden popcorn, and it's the most adorable thing I've ever seen. Honestly, I would have been crying if I got to hug Zac Efron, too.

8 Career Lessons We Learned From The Baby-Sitters Club

If you're a lady of a certain age, you most likely lived and breathed The Baby-Sitters Club when you were growing up. Author Ann M. Martin dreamed up a group of likable, determined, and industrious friends who all happened to love babysitting. We enjoyed reading about the girls' literal adventures in babysitting - how they would troubleshoot as disasters arose, how they juggled the needs of kids at different ages, and how they ran an independent business without the help of any adults.

Yet while we were loving the babysitting stories and tales of friendship, we were also absorbing actual information about entrepreneurship. Here was a group of young women who consistently held meetings, delegated roles, traded tips to improve their work skills, and - quite literally - ran a business together.

In a profile on Ann M. Martin, The New Yorker points out, "For many of us, The Baby-Sitters Club offered an early glimpse into the world of ambitious working women. Granted, they were middle-schoolers, but they were girl bosses, role models long before pop culture gave us Olivia Pope, Liz Lemon, or Leslie Knope."

So what did the "girl bosses" of today learn from these ambitious teens and tweens? Keep scrolling for some of the greatest business tips gleaned from our beloved BSC.

1. Necessity is the mother of invention.

Remember the first book in the series, Kristy's Great Idea? In it, we're introduced to the concept for the BSC which Kristy cooked up as a way to help her single mom (and others like her) reach a bunch of qualified babysitters at once (rather than calling various households, trying to find one babysitter who's available). Kristy identified a particular demographic and invented a service that would meet its specific needs.

2. Delegate roles based on skills and talents.

Kristy - like all boss ladies - was wise enough to acknowledge that she wasn't 100 percent excellent at every single task in the business. It saves time and headaches to divide the work by assigning roles to people based on their skills and interests, and thus: Kristy was president, Claudia was vice president, Stacey was treasurer, and Mary Anne was secretary. The girls took their roles seriously and the Baby-Sitters Club ran like a well-oiled machine because of it.

3. Advertising is key - and word of mouth is the best form of advertising.

In a world before social media and mommy blogs, the BSC relied heavily on referrals for their business. They also used fliers and newspaper ads, but their best form of marketing was word of mouth - a domino effect of one set of satisfied parents recommending the BSC to their friends with kids, who recommended them to more friends, and so forth. The girls kept the BSC's reputation pristine so that this free advertising would keep working for them.

4. Keep careful records.

It's not like the BSC was ever going to be audited, but if it were, the girls would have had nothing to be concerned about. Stacey meticulously kept track of finances by collecting dues at meetings and managing costs (buying snacks, refreshing the Kid Kit supplies, splurging on the occasional pizza party). Meanwhile, Mary Anne was responsible for the record book, maintaining babysitting schedules, along with keeping detailed information about clients (their contact information, hourly rates, kids' allergies, etc.). The success of the Baby-Sitters Club, as a business, was in large part due to the organizational skills of the members.

5. Establish rules to maintain order and hold people accountable.

Mixing business with friendship can be a delicate dance, but the girls of the BSC somehow managed to be responsible and dutiful while remaining friendly and relaxed with each other. Still, as a boss, Kristy was a stickler for punctuality, and there were consequences to being late too frequently. She displayed a nice-but-firm leadership style that any real-life adult boss would be wise to emulate.

6. Have a cool office with great snacks.

BSC meetings were held in Claudia's room because she had her own phone line, and her addiction to junk food meant there were always snacks available. As any office-dwelling millennial can tell you, cool snacks are absolutely key to employee satisfaction. Claudia even went so far as to offer sugar-free snacks for Stacey (who had diabetes) and Dawn (the club's resident health nut before "eating mindfully" was de rigueur).

7. Strategize a coverage plan and allow for time off.

When needed, the girls of the BSC would cover for each other, and they even had an "alternate officer" (Dawn, and later Abby) to assume the duties of members who needed to miss a meeting. Basically, they figured out PTO (well, without the "P") even as a teenage babysitting club.

8. Offer innovative tools to gain the competitive edge.

Aside from being a practical and sanity-saving tool for the babysitters, the Kid Kits (boxes of toys, coloring books, bubbles, and games for the babysitters to take with them on jobs) were a great selling point for the business. It elevated them from being merely a group of teens trying to make some extra cash to businesswomen with problem-solving skills and original ideas about entertaining their charges. If there had been any rival babysitter clubs in the area, they'd have had to up their game to compete with the BSC.

Jennifer Lopez Is So Happy With Alex Rodriguez, She Just Can't Help but Gush

Jennifer Lopez is glowing and gushing about her love of Alex Rodriguez. The 47-year-old singer and actress went on The Late Late Show With James Corden and spoke all about her new man.

James grilled her about her new boyfriend, and even though she didn't say much, she said enough for us to want to hear more. "He's the best. You would love him," she said. "He's a great guy. He's fun. He's awesome."

J Lo and A Rod have put their budding romance on display a lot recently. The couple made their red carpet debut at the Met Gala, and J lo also confessed she was actually the one who approached Alex at a restaurant.

See what else she had to say about their romance and what they did on their first date in the video above.

What a Month of Superitchy, Horrible Skin Taught Me

The following post originally appeared on Medium.

I didn't listen to my body, until it forced me to. This is me lately.

Imagine being addicted to something and not even knowing it. That's what happened to me. And it's not even a somewhat glamorous addiction. I'm addicted to cream. Not whipped cream - the cream that you put on your skin. A steroid cream. Probably the lamest form of drug you can be addicted to.

When I was around 5, I was diagnosed with eczema - a skin condition where you get dry, itchy red patches on your body. It appeared on my hands, arms, back and legs.

The doctor said eczema was genetic and that they didn't really know why people got it. I was told that it was incurable. I would have eczema for the rest of my life. So they prescribed steroid cream as the solution.

Wow what a cure! Not shady at all . . .

Oh yes, the cream worked - I'd put it on and the eczema would go away. But it would always come back. And when it did, I'd just put on more cream. But the eczema would come back. Cream. Eczema. Cream. More Eczema. More Cream. Etc. This cycle went on for 16 more lovely years until one month ago, when I decided to stop using all steroid creams.

What made me decide to do this? Well, a couple months ago I was reading The Art of Seeing by Aldous Huxley. Huxley used unconventional methods to heal his eyesight. There was a quote about eyeglasses that stuck in my head:

"Suppose that crippled eyes could be transformed into crippled legs. What a heart-rending parade we would witness on a busy street! Nearly every other person would go limping by. Many would be on crutches and some on wheel chairs." - Matthew Luckiesh

True. Lots of people wear glasses. Lots of people with eczema use steroid cream. But not a lot of people walk around on crutches and never fix their broken leg. And that's when it occurred to me: my skin was broken, and the cream was a crutch! Why should I keep using the crutch when I could just heal my skin for good?

As I typed "how to heal eczema" into Google, I realized that I'd never actually done my own research before. I'd put 100 percent of my faith into what the doctor told me, and took her word as truth. (I don't think she had any evil intent. I think she was just doing what she thought was right - without realizing the damage.) Now I am not a doctor, and I'm not saying not to trust doctors, I just wish I had done my own research earlier.

I found something called topical steroid addiction. This is what I know so far - the steroids suppress your adrenal glands and make them lazy. The adrenal gland is responsible for producing cortisol, your body's natural anti-inflammatory. But when you start using steroid creams (cortisol creams), the glands stop doing their job because the steroids are doing it for them! Your body starts relying on the cream, and when you stop using it, the adrenal gland realizes it hasn't made cortisol for years . . . so your body cries out for the cream. It's explained very well in this video.

I found hundreds of stories of people just like me, who were using steroid cream for a long time . . . but no one was ever cured by it. In fact, it only made the eczema get worse and worse. People would get prescribed stronger and stronger steroids, and when it didn't help, some people even started taking oral steroids. But as I read these stories of people quitting the cream, I felt quite hopeful. I saw pictures of people fully healed and never having to use a drop of cream again.

At the same time, the journey to get there looked absolutely terrifying. Red, peeling, burning faces. People taking time off work and school. Being bedridden for months. Going through withdrawal took most people around 6-12 months. Some, even years.

Oh hello steroid cream, thanks for revealing your true self

Even though it looked scary, I knew I couldn't go on using the cream. I wanted to be cured, not on crutches. So I quit the cream. I went into what's called topical steroid withdrawal (TSW). And yeah, it is freaking painful; it's a total shock to your body. For the first three weeks, my arms burned bright red. They felt hot to the touch. It got so itchy I just wanted to rip my skin off. It's so depressing waking up, feeling ugly and disgusting, and seeing dead skin everywhere. I started everyday feeling like a crusty mummy coming out of the tomb after a million years. I avoided mirrors and I didn't go farther than five minutes from my house for three weeks.

I did try and go to doctors again. I told them about topical steroid withdrawal and about the red skin syndrome that follows . . . and they wrote me another prescription for steroid cream and said see you later. One doctor even told me to try oral steroids. None of the doctors would really listen.

I kept looking to the internet for answers. Since sleep was almost impossible, I started using night time as research time.

Since I am on spring break I am super grateful for being able to wake up at 4 p.m., but my natural sleep cycle was completely messed

I've been hunting down every source on TSW I could find. I joined Facebook groups with people going through the same thing. Turns out there is a lot of us. Many people have similar stories, and many have it way, way worse than me. Even little babies are going through it. YEAH. BABIES. It breaks my heart to see all these people suffering, especially because this pain is preventable with just a little bit of research and caution.

What I didn't realize for so long is that eczema is only the tip of the iceberg. It's just a symptom of a much larger underlying problem.

Eczema was my body's way of firing off a warning sign saying "Something's wrong! Help!" But I just kept covering up that sign with more and more cream, because that's what I was told to do. I was just treating the symptom without curing the cause.

As it turns out, there is a huge link between your skin health and gut health.

Stupid stomach, why didn't you tell me sooner? Oh you've been telling me the whole time I've just been ignoring you? Oops

It didn't even cross my mind that I might have issues with my digestion. But it does explain why I fart so much. So as I started to swim deeper down the iceberg, I discovered that the problem with my skin had to do with basically everything, including soaps and detergents I used, stress levels, and how much I exercised, but especially what I was eating.

Throughout this whole thing - there has been one especially inspirational dude I found named Rob Stuart. He used to have eczema too, and actually cured himself through diet and lifestyle changes. He explains how a whole food, vegan diet is the best for the body, skin, and digestion. It's not too big a transition, since I've been mostly vegetarian for about a year.

I don't believe in going too extreme any one way or another, so I took changing my diet slowly. I cut down a lot on eating meat, but I was still eating lots of cheese, eggs, and ice cream. I love ice cream. I never thought that dairy could be bad for my skin. My boyfriend is lactose intolerant and a while ago, he suggested for me to try cutting dairy out, because he used to have skin issues too when he ate dairy. This was even before I discovered steroid withdrawal and my gut issues . . . but now it all links together.

So to fix my skin and my gut, I've cut all animal products out, and trying to stay away from processed foods and refined sugars. I'm experimenting with what foods set my skin off - so far I'm not sure about nuts, tomatoes, and grapes. There are also foods high in histamines, which make you itch. There's a lot of information out there, but to really find out, I think I'm just going to have to slowly experiment on myself.

Two years ago I was the worst cook in the world. (Once I put a whole broccoli in the microwave and covered it with soy sauce for dinner.) I used to be terrified of cooking with more than two ingredients. Now I am cooking for myself almost every day, even using more than two ingredients. For anyone who's going to change their diet, I would definitely recommend an app called cronometer. It helps you make sure you're getting enough calories, proteins, & vitamins.

Even though going through steroid withdrawal is so painful and annoying, I'm glad it's happening. It's made me wake up. It got me to do research and question things, rather than believing everything I'm told. The fact that I thought eczema was incurable and genetic made me think that steroid creams were my only option. I never knew that diet had a connection with skin health. In school and on the TV, all I heard was that milk is a good source of calcium, and that it isn't a meal without meat. That meat = protein. The only source of protein. The meat and dairy industries have worked hard to get those messages in my head from a young age. They don't want people knowing the health consequences.

I didn't care what I was putting in my body. I just ate whatever, and my skin ate whatever. I didn't read labels on soaps or shampoos, or think about what the steroid creams were actually doing inside my body. I didn't think that not getting enough exercise would have an impact on my skin either. Turns out, everything is connected. The body, the mind, the environment.

The way you think about a problem affects the way you will treat it, and your surroundings change what options you think are available. When you walk into a grocery store and 60 percent of the store is dedicated to animal products, you assume it must be OK. When you go into the body care aisle or whatever and see all these products with a million chemicals in them, you assume they should be fine. Because it doesn't look like there are other options. But there are, you just have to look a bit deeper to see them. With the help of my mom I started making my own lotions, so I know exactly what is in them and can see how my skin reacts directly after.

It's been a month now, and since paying attention to what I'm putting in my body (both food and products), my skin has already improved so much. It's not perfect, I'm still eating processed foods like pasta, noodles, and soy sauce - but like I said I'm just doing the best I can for now. Amazingly, I had a full night's sleep last night. I know I'm not fully healed yet and that this is just the beginning, but at least I finally feel more in control of what goes on in my body.

All I wish is that someone had told me sooner to do my own research, rather than putting 100 percent of my trust into someone else. To look deeper and work on treating the root cause, rather than covering up the symptoms. I hope that anyone reading this who's suffering from eczema or any other skin problems will dig deeper. I know there's a lot of contradictory information out there - but when you start asking the right questions, you will find the answers.

It Has Come to This: Your Nipple Color Is Your Perfect Lip Shade, Apparently

It's 2017, so this headline does not phase me. Maybe in 2014 I would be surprised to hear that the color of your nipple is a great hack for finding your perfect lip shade, but not today. We've seen it all: the Kylie Jenner shot glass challenge, using household items like a heel to contour, and one ballsy makeup-lover using her boyfriend's testicles to apply foundation. (Which I have so many concerns about. I don't want to smell like balls, thanks.)

Unlike these other internet trends, though, this one actually seems useful to me. I sit here, glancing at my nipple at the office while my coworkers look at me with genuine concern. Am I inspecting a mole? Did I drop a piece of food down my top? Did I just get pierced? No, my curious colleagues, I'm simply trying to decide if my nipple color is more of a Pillow Talk or an Angel.

This discussion began after someone tweeted a screenshot of an episode of The Doctors in which they discussed whether or not your nipple is your best lip shade. It was also reported that the color of your top lip is also the same shade as your nipple. This is enlightening, because I was of the opinion my bottom lip was also the shade of my top lip - apparently not!

The internet obviously felt some way about this.

This paints a whole new picture when it comes to color matching. If I were in the market to make a beauty line, I'd create a slew of lip liners with names like "Are-hola," a bronzy-tan shade, "The Booby Trap," a pinky-beige, and "Simply the Breast," a deep mahogany.

Also, for what it's worth, may I kindly suggest you do not bust out your nips for the employees (and the free world) at Sephora? They have to deal with enough. No pictures either. If you must, blow up a photo of your nipple so you can only see the shade and it is does not look recognizable as your actual areola.

And in case you're wondering, turns out Pillow Talk is in fact my ideal shade. Thanks, Charlotte Tilbury!

The Saddest, Funniest Pictures From MTV's Rained-Out Red Carpet

Posing on the MTV Movie and TV Awards red carpet came to a screeching halt on Sunday night when the clouds unleashed torrential rains upon unsuspecting stars at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. Sure, we got some cute pictures of the adorable cast of It and the Cyrus family, but the storm wiped out any potential for many nominees to walk the carpet at all, especially when most of the photographers packed up and left. Still, we got some funny shots. Take a look!

Kristen Bell to the Girl Who Broke Charlie Hunnam's Heart: "F*ck You"

If you weren't already a Charlie Hunnam fan, then his interview with Kristen Bell will change your mind. And if you're already a fan? Good luck, because your heart is about to burst watching him talk about his 13-year-old heartbreak and the time he saved his cat. Kristen stepped in to host Jimmy Kimmel Live on Thursday, and the actress asked Charlie about everything from his Sons of Anarchy days to how he got into shape for his new movie, King Arthur. (She also did a favor for fans everywhere by pointing out that, yes, he smells good.) The two of them have hilarious chemistry, so somebody definitely needs to cast them in a movie together ASAP, please and thank you.

Things I Learned at Chrissy Teigen's Palette Launch - And No, She Didn't Get "Extensive Plastic Surgery"

Here's the deal: I got to meet my Twitter queen Chrissy Teigen and help her celebrate the launch of the Becca Cosmetics Becca x Chrissy Teigen Glow Face Palette ($46) by getting an early preview and learning about how it all came to fruition. I also learned a few things she absolutely hates when it comes to makeup, because if there's one thing you can bet on from Chrissy, it's that she'll speak her mind.

Chrissy collaborated with makeup artist Mary Phillips (who also works with Jennifer Lopez!) on every part of the palette. She was clear on a few things - namely, she didn't want the whole thing to be too sparkly or overly shimmery. She wanted it to be easy for everyone to use at home, and she worried that with too much shimmer, people might go crazy and end up looking like a disco ball. The palette, which includes a bronzer, a blush, and two highlighters (one rose gold and one apricot), worried her a bit because she felt the blush was too bright. Because the palette leans more bronze, she and Mary worked to sheer out the pigment of the coral blush so it was complementary to the other pieces of the palette.

The palette focuses on warmer tones instead of cool tones, which makes sense: Chrissy has a warm complexion. Mary explained that it isn't too gold, though, and it's definitely not cool or silver, meaning if you're fair complected or have a deeper tone, it will still work for you. You can sheer out everything if you're fair and layer it if you're deep complected.

As for her dislikes, Chrissy was quick to lay down the law on a few trending makeup and beauty looks.

Liner on her lower waterline

The model and author explained that she lets Mary do whatever she wants when it comes to makeup, but the one stipulation is she cannot add anything insider her lower waterline.

Lip masks

"Waste of f*cking money," she said. "Don't get them."

Washing her face before bed

The model told us that she has "never washed her face before bed." She'll "rip off her eyelashes" but doesn't remove her makeup. And yet her skin is still perfect, which could be attributed to her esthetician, Shani Darden. We can only dream of this type of luck.

Insane Instagram highlighting

"I don't want to be a hater, but I am," she said. "I see all the Instagram posts, and I did not want to look like those girls that just look silver. Do you don't have to be a slay queen just because you look like a silver zorbot. That look is done. I'm tired of silver cheekbones and nose. And I'm f*cking over strobing!" Chrissy later added she has no idea what a zorbot is, but you get her drift.

Armpit fat

She probably doesn't hate it, per se, but when asked about the craziest beauty treatment she received, she admitted that she "sucked her armpits" about nine years ago to get rid of fat pockets.

Also, it's been reported that Chrissy underwent "major plastic surgery," and it's simply not true. The statement was largely taken out of context.

This is what happened: Chrissy brought up that everyone thinks her cheeks are fake. She clarified that they are not, but joked that "everything else is." She did point to her forehead and her mouth area, which I interpreted as referring to getting Botox in her forehead and her veneers. This is something she's been very open about in the past. There was no discussion of extensive plastic face or body surgery. In fact, the only plastic surgery brought up was the aforementioned armpit liposuction - and playfully mentioning her mother's nose job.

Now that that's cleared up, I have to say I haven't been happier with a palette in a very long time. I want to look dewy and glowy when I apply highlighter, and even with some Becca products, I feel like the highlight isn't as sheer or natural as I'd like it to be. This is a palette you can wear to work, running errands, brunch, a big event, breastfeeding your child - doesn't matter what it is, you can wear it and feel natural while doing so.
