Your Ultimate Guide to Mastering Denim on Denim

The denim on denim trend (aka the Canadian Tuxedo) has been around for years now, but maybe you haven't mustered up the courage to try it . . . yet. As much as we appreciate a couple in matching outfits à la Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears at the 2001 AMAs (look how young and in love they were), we're not exactly trying to replicate their look anytime soon.

Truth is, this trend isn't as scary as everyone makes it out to be. Most people give up easily before even trying the look because they don't know where to begin. With a bunch of inspiration (courtesy of these street style shots) and the right items in your closet, mastering a denim on denim look that feels fresh and contemporary is easier than you think. By the end of this, you'll be wondering what took you so long to try this trend in the first place.

We're listing 12 denim-on-denim ensembles to try - along with the best pieces to purchase - that will make you want to give the look another try.

Miley Cyrus Belting Out "Inspired" at the Manchester Benefit Will Move You Deeply

Miley Cyrus delivered a beautiful performance at pal Ariana Grande's One Love Manchester concert in the UK on Sunday. In addition to teaming up with Pharrell Williams for a surprise duet of "Happy," the singer belted out her new single, "Inspired." Miley also took a second to comfort the audience, telling the crowd, "I'd like to wrap my arms around each and every one of you, and say thank you from the bottom of my heart. For me, the most important responsibility on this entire planet is to take care of one another. And look what we're doing today and how amazing that is!" The star-studded show featured even more performances by Niall Horan, Justin Bieber, and Katy Perry.

Remember Zima? The Clear, Alcoholic Soda From the '90s Is Back!

Like me, you may have been too young to drink Zima in the '90s, but who can forget those strange commercials? Or, more accurately, they were zomething different. The clear, citrusy malt soda made by Coors positioned itself as a refreshingly cool beer substitute. Though it was discontinued in 2008, it's coming back (exclusive to Walmart) thanks to the current craze for hard seltzers. Though Zima's entering a tough, competitive market in 2017, we're thinking nostalgia is on its side. After all, everyone has freaked out about the return of Clearly Canadian!

Jelly Donut Oreos Are Surprisingly Not the Worst!

Our first reaction after hearing about Jelly Donut Oreos was not exactly, "Can't wait to try!" But, adhering to our strict Oreo-investigating rules, we set out to try them with low expectations. Though this is certainly not the best Oreo flavor of all time - Marshmallow Crispy forever claims that title - we are happy to report it's definitely not the worst! The Golden Oreo cookies with a raspberry center and "custard outer ring" (which doesn't taste much different than Oreo's regular cream filling) are surprisingly good. You don't have to be a fan of jelly doughnuts to willingly devour a couple of these cookies.

Judging by the aroma of artificially flavored raspberry-jelly icing, we braced ourselves for our first bites. But despite the strong smell, the flavor is not nearly as artificial tasting. Some of us got Pop-Tart vibes from the fruity flavor, which we definitely didn't mind. Here's a sampling of our editors' initial reactions during our taste test:

  • "The smell is off-putting, but they don't taste as bad as anticipated."
  • "Way better than my reaction to 'eww' when I saw the flavor."
  • "Wow! Such a huge surprise. Tastes like raspberry jam! Super tasty with the golden cookie."

You've got a limited time to try this Walmart-exclusive flavor, so pick it up the next time you spot it at the store, and catch up on the best new Oreo flavors of the year so far.

Walmart Has So Many Exclusive New Groceries You'll Want This Summer

Foodies have many reasons to keep returning to Walmart beyond reasons like they stock The Pioneer Woman's kitchen collection and Patti LaBelle's desserts. I spoke to Walmart to tell us why its groceries are so cheap, what new products we have to look forward to this Summer, and more ways to pare down your grocery bill (without sacrificing too much).

Walmart's scale makes its prices so low.

With over 4,600 stores nationwide and online sales, Walmart's "size and scale" allows the company to purchase items in bulk and therefore offer lower prices to customers.

You can return any fresh items, no questions asked.

Did you know you can return fresh items like produce, meat, or bakery goods for a full refund? Walmart says it "stands behind" the items it sells, and if a customer is not happy, the company will offer a full cash back refund.

The lowest priced items are on the lowest shelves.

Walmart says if you are looking to save money on groceries, check the "lower shelves of each aisle, as the less-expensive items are frequently placed there."

The bestselling grocery is a staple we all have.

"Bananas are consistently our number one selling item!" Walmart tells us.

Be on the lookout for tasting demos.

While Walmart doesn't have a "try before you buy" policy, the company says it often has "demos in stores where customers can try new products before they purchase them."

There's a story behind that world-famous wine.

You heard about that $8 wine that was ranked one of the best in the world? Walmart says stocking its US stores with La Moneda Reserva is just another example of its "commitment to help customers save money so they can live better." Sipping affordable, award-winning wine is definitely living better.

Skip the in-store shopping.

If Instacart isn't your thing but you want the convenience of someone else doing the shopping, Walmart has an "Online Grocery Pickup" feature which allows you to shop online, setup a pickup time, and have your groceries delivered to your car within minutes.

Walmart has some thrilling new exclusives this year.

Here are a bunch of new, exclusive products stocked at Walmart this Summer: Jelly Donut Oreos, Oreo-O's cereal, and citrus-flavored malt liquor beverage Zima. Walmart also says it will have over 30 new "Great Value ice cream flavors like Down By The Sea Salt Caramel, I ♥ PB, Hashtag Chocolate, and Ahh Fudge . . . Tracks. And to keep you on your toes, Walmart told us, "We can't spill all the beans on the rest of this year, but we think a lot of people are going to want to keep an eye on our Bakery department where we have some sweet new items in the works. We're also excited about a really fun assortment of exclusive Halloween candy that we think will be a hit with trick-or-treaters and parents alike."

Why Early Miscarriages are Just as Devastating: "Time Doesn't Measure Love"

When someone shares that they had a miscarriage, it's natural to wonder how far along they were. But for those who have never been through this, you may not realize that the number of weeks or months doesn't define the sheer pain of her loss.

Alyssa Spencer miscarried at six weeks and although some might view her situation as "less" - less painful or devastating because she was still in the early stages of her pregnancy - this grieving mom is speaking out. "I may have only been six weeks along when we lost our baby but that was four months of planning and preparation and two months of trying," she wrote on Facebook. "It was ovulation test kits and endless amounts of pregnancy tests. It was disappointment when we didn't get pregnant the first try and endless amounts of joy when we got the positive pregnancy test the second try."

Instead of keeping her grief private, Alyssa is sharing her experience. She hopes this will not only put her pain into perspective but also empower other women who may feel ashamed of the grief they're feeling over an "early" miscarriage. "It was picking out names and planning how we would reorganize the house to fit another beautiful baby," she wrote. "It was announcing to our parents and siblings and keeping it a secret from others until we could make it through the first doctor's appointment."

Alyssa explained that some people might hear "just" six weeks but to her family, it was baby number two. "It was trips we were planning to the parks, zoos, and aquariums with two littles instead of one," she wrote. "It was our future."

After her own devastating loss, Alyssa realized how embarrassing it can feel to openly talk about miscarriages and hopes that others will confide in each other instead of feeling ashamed. "One in four women suffer from a miscarriage but still it is not talked about. This is no longer just a statistic to us, we are the statistic," she wrote. " It's OK to grieve the loss no matter how far along you were because time does not measure love."

14 Stars Who Weren't Afraid to Show Off Their Baby Bumps in a Bikini

The cutest way to announce a pregnancy or show off your baby bump might be with a bikini snap. Whether it be a classic black bikini or a printed one-piece, read on for some style inspo straight from your favorite celebrities.

Lauren Conrad Says Goodbye to This Pacific Palisades Mansion - Bye, Epic Waterslide

You might remember Lauren Conrad from her glory days on Laguna Beach, but this California girl has come a long way since then, and her most recent real estate sale can attest to that. Lauren and her husband William Tell recently sold their Pacific Palisades, CA, mansion for $5 million. The couple purchased the home back in 2015 for $4.4 million, but it looks like Lauren revamped the 5,871-square-foot Spanish mansion with some of her impressive interior decorating skills.

The five-bedroom, six-bathroom home has been updated with a strikingly beautiful white paint job, giving the home the open, beachy feel we'd expect LC to create. If the massive master bathroom wasn't enough to convince the new buyers, maybe it was the circular dressing room with French doors that open up to a balcony. Keller Williams' Linda Ferrari and Main Beach Realty's Cary Glenn were responsible for the listing, which also boasted the swimming pool and waterslide.

The two are expecting their first child together, and we have a feeling that the baby is going to be mad his or her parents gave up such an epic waterslide. Keep reading to see photos of the beautiful Pacific Palisades mansion, and let Lauren's style inspire your own interior design.

Support For Gay Marriage Is at an All Time High - But Are LGBTQ Rights Safe Under Trump?

Image Source: Getty / Alex Wong

"No longer may this liberty be denied," Justice Anthony M. Kennedy wrote in the June 2015 Supreme Court decision that asserted a constitutional right to same-sex marriage. After decades of activism on both sides of the issue, proponents of marriage equality won this battle in the culture war, and emotional celebrations erupted across the country. Finally, love won and same-sex couples had equal dignity in the eyes of the law.

The Supreme Court decision lines up with the mood of the country. Public support for gay marriage is at an all-time high, according to a new Gallup poll. Today, 64 percent of US adults say it should be recognized legally. In just 20 years, there's been a dramatic shift. In 1996 the number was flipped, with 69 percent of US adults saying same-sex marriages should not be legally valid.

The official GOP platform called for a constitutional amendment overturning the 2015 Supreme Court ruling.

The victory for marriage equality has ended an entrenched form of discrimination in America. Yet the platform adopted at the 2016 Republican National Convention shows that many in power would turn back the clock if given the chance. The official platform called for a constitutional amendment overturning the 2015 Supreme Court ruling, said adoption agencies, doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals should be able to deny services to LGBTQ citizens, and supported "gay conversion therapy." The choice of Mike Pence as Vice President - who rose to national prominence with his extreme anti-LGBTQ positions in Indiana - should also leave you wondering: are gay rights safe under the Trump Administration? Not completely. With Pride Month on the horizon, now is as good time to remind LGBTQ Americans and their allies that we must stay vigilant.

Same-Sex Marriage Is the Law for Now

Here's some good news. While President Trump has the power to appoint conservative federal judges, that might not be enough undermine the right to same-sex marriage quite yet. "Public support is important," explains David Cruz, a law professor at the University of Southern California. "US history suggests that courts interpreting the constitution - including the Supreme Court - do not deviate too dramatically from public opinion for prolonged periods of time." In other words, if public support for gay marriage is a given, there's a high chance the courts won't get in the way.

Given this reality, Cruz believes the right of same-sex couples to get married is not in immediate danger. The Supreme Court would have to overrule its previous precedent, which rarely happens. But Cruz says it could if Justice Anthony Kennedy, who wrote the marriage equality decision, was to retire and be replaced by a strongly anti-LGBTQ judge. For now Neil Gorsuch's appointment to the Supreme Court by itself won't change things, since he replaced Justice Antonin Scalia, who dissented from the marriage ruling in the first place.

A constitutional amendment defining marriage as between a man and a woman could also undo the 2015 Supreme Court decision. While it was proposed in the GOP platform, Cruz doesn't see it happening any time soon, either. It's not easy to amend the constitution - it requires two-thirds of each house of Congress and approval from three-fourths of the states. Such an effort was unsuccessful during the George W. Bush era, which Cruz calls the height of the gay marriage scare. So it would be harder today. Rather, politicians are likely posturing when they discuss an amendment, rather than proposing realistic policy. Considering this, it's likely imminent threats to LGBTQ rights will come in less explicit forms.

Religious Liberty Laws Are the New Battle Ground

Gay marriage rights may be settled law, but the fight isn't over. Legal experts like Cruz believe sweeping religious-exemption laws are a greater threat than court decisions. Many state religious exemption laws permit people, churches, nonprofits, and sometimes corporations to receive exemptions from laws that "burden" their religious beliefs. These types of law make it legally acceptable to discriminate against LGBTQ people.

These types of law make it legally acceptable to discriminate against LGBTQ people.

"Scores of bills have been introduced in state legislatures, and there's also the proposed federal so-called First Amendment Defense Act," Cruz explains. The latter would prohibit the federal government from taking action against any business or person that discriminates against LGBTQ people (and anyone who has sexual relations outside of marriage for that matter) for religious reasons. These types of "religious liberty" laws could also trump existing state and local laws that forbid discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity. "Many of these bills are likely unconstitutional," Cruz notes, "but if passed, we'd need to see judges continue to stand up for separation of religion and government and for equal protection for LGBTQ people." And that's where the real threat of Trump comes in. Trump has the power to appoint judges from the Supreme Court on down to the federal trial judges who would be hearing these religious exemption cases.

Professor Tia Gaynor, who researches public administration at Marist College, agrees that LGBTQ Americans could be negatively impacted by a more socially conservative agenda under Republican leadership, even if same-sex marriage remains the law. She points to Trump's recent Executive Order Promoting Free Speech and Religious Liberty as laying the groundwork for what may come. While the order was largely symbolic, it signals how lawmakers might roll back protections for LGBTQ Americans under the guise of religious freedom. "Some may take these religious freedom protections to mean that they can discriminate against individuals who identify as LGBTQ without any repercussions. Even if there are consequences for these organizations, they are not immediate, where the trauma associated with being discriminated against is."

Some federal laws, like the Affordable Care Act, do have built-in provisions forbidding discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity. Yet agency staff and judges appointed by Trump could interpret those protections as narrowly as possible. And Congress could eliminate those regulations with an Affordable Care Act repeal law. LGBTQ Americans have long faced hurdles to getting fair and adequate health care, so turning back the protections of Obamacare could do real harm.

What You Can Do

Voting is the first step, especially in those off-year local races.

"The evolution of public opinion around marriage equality is very important toward maintaining rights for couples wishing to marry," Gaynor stresses. She says holding elected officials accountable is the most important role the public can play. Voting is the first step, especially in those off-year, low-profile state and local races. It's in local jurisdictions where religious liberty laws or "bathroom bills" are being passed. Gaynor says progress "requires the public to be aware of how local, state, and federal representatives vote and where they stand on issues critical to the LGBTQ community." She suggests interacting with representatives on a regular basis and believes that simply contacting them on social media is an effective way to hold them publicly accountable.

In the age of Trump, it can be exhausting to keep up your outrage and activism on a wide range of issues. But now isn't the time to assume politicians finally "get it" on LGBTQ rights. Gaynor sums it up: "The way I see it, as long as the public is largely silent, yet privately supportive, with or without laws, the discrimination and marginalization of the LGBTQ community will persist - and perhaps in this Trump Era grow." We can't let that happen.

Every Parent Needs to Know the Car Seat Mistake That Killed This Child

It's been exactly 12 years since Christine Miller has seen her child's smile, kissed his cheeks, or felt his arms wrap around her neck. And on the anniversary of Kyle's death, Christine is sharing her heartbreaking story as an important warning about car seats for all parents.

"I had no idea that morning with him would be the last time I heard his adorable laugh and sweet voice call me mommy and see his eyes lit up with life and wonder," Christine shared on the Car Seat Consultants Facebook page.

More than a decade later, this mom is still grieving her tragic loss and believes that it could've been prevented had she known better or if someone had had the courage to point out her mistake. "Losing Kyle was like being plunged straight into hell, a pain and agony beyond description," she wrote. "If the scars on my heart were visible, people would gasp every time they saw me."

Kyle was 3 years old when he was killed. The toddler was sitting in a booster seat when an impaired driver ran a red light and collided with the family's car. Christine believes that he wouldn't have been killed in the crash if he had been restrained in a five-point harness car seat, and that guilt has been almost impossible to live with. "I've walked through hell and still carry a piece of it inside me. I've come to realize that this kind of loss is not something you ever get over or make peace with, it's something you eventually learn how to contain in a box of fire inside your heart, and keep a lid on so that you can function on a day to day basis," she wrote.

Christine explained that although she'll be carrying this severe pain with her daily until she dies, that isn't even what's most difficult about her situation:

I think the hardest part of it all is knowing how easily preventable it was. Had I just known about the dangers of booster seats for toddlers, had somebody warned me, I would have put him in a five-point harness car seat ... and that simple difference would have changed everything. It would have saved his life. It was have saved me from going through hell. I would have had the past 12 years of memories with my beautiful boy, instead of 12 years of grief and pain. I wouldn't have to imagine what my son would be like now, I would be able to hug him and tell him I love him and watch him grow into a man. But I lost all of that because of ONE mistake.

Christine has now made it her life's mission to work toward preventing this tragedy from happening to any other families and is hoping that her raw pain will raise awareness. "Car accidents are the number one killer of children, and statistics show that 80-90 percent of car seats are installed or used incorrectly!" she wrote. "Read that again and let it sink in. We are not protecting our children from the single greatest threat to their lives! It's madness."

In many cases, like Kyle's, these deaths can be prevented simply from parents knowing better and being willing to speak up if they see something wrong. She wrote:

We try to protect our kids from everything from pesticides, GMOs, sharp furniture corners, and cancer, but then buckle them into unsafe car seats. I've lost friends and family members because they were offended that I pointed out their incorrect car seat usage. But to say nothing and have another child's death on my conscience is not something I'm willing to risk.

So please, speak up if you see a child in a dangerous situation. You could save a life. Children's lives are more important than parents egos. If someone would have done so for me, Kyle would still be here. We have a lot of work to do but I know we can save lives if we work together to share Kyle's story and message. Car seat safety is not a "parenting choice," it's a matter of physics and facts.

Why You Haven't Really Visited Disney's World of Avatar Until You've Gone at Night

Walt Disney World's brand-new Avatar-inspired land is an incredible re-creation of the film's lush exoplanetary moon, Pandora, complete with floating mountains and otherworldly vegetation. At night, it's even better.

When I visited Pandora prior to its official opening on May 27, I was impressed by the over-the-top plants. When I visited the land again at night, however, it was an entirely different experience. Most of the land's many plants are actually bioluminescent and glow in the dark at night. Remember that scene in Avatar where Jake Sully follows Neytiri through the forest and all these teeny-tiny glowing plants begin landing on him? Well, that's the sort of magic that Pandora re-creates at night.

In addition to the phosphorescent plants, there are a few other reasons to visit Pandora at night. For starters, it's much cooler temperature-wise. Being that Pandora offers several alcoholic beverages on its menus, it's also a fun land to explore at night with a tasty cocktail in hand. If you do visit Pandora at night, you absolutely have to get your face painted at the Colors of Mo'ara outdoor shop by the entrance. Why? Much like the plants throughout the land, the face paint also glows in the dark!

Look ahead to see how Pandora transforms at night.

Bernie Sanders Can't Keep It Together After Hearing Trump Applaud Universal Health Care

President Donald Trump has a way with words, you could say: he's especially skilled at inadvertently blurting out opinions on subjects he apparently knows nothing about. During a meeting with Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, Trump praised the country's healthcare system - but he didn't seem to realize he was praising a universal healthcare system. Bernie Sanders, one of the most vocal single-payer proponents, was quite pleased with Trump's comment (even if the president was completely ignorant of Australia's health care).

MSNBC's Chris Hayes played a clip of Trump's comment while interviewing Sanders on May 4. In the clip, Trump simultaneously criticizes the American healthcare system and lauds Australia's. "We have a failing health care - I shouldn't say this to our great gentleman and my friend from Australia because you have better health care than we do," Trump said.

Following a familiar fit of laughter, Sanders jokingly takes Trump's comment at face value. "The president has just said it. That's great. Let's take a look at the Australian healthcare system, and let's move," Sanders said. "Maybe he wants to take a look at the Canadian healthcare system or systems throughout Europe. Thank you, Mr. President. Let us move to a Medicare-for-all system that does what every other major country does."

Sanders has previously said that he would introduce a Medicare-for-all bill into Congress as an alternative to the Republicans' disastrous American Healthcare Act. While it doesn't seem like the president will push for a single-payer healthcare system anytime soon, he's at least aware of its efficacy.

The 1 Car Seat Rule Even the Most Safety-Conscious Parent Doesn't Know

Most newer car and car seat models use the LATCH system (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children), but even the most safety-conscious of parents may be misusing the simple car seat installation method. The LATCH system attaches the car seat to the vehicle through anchor points installed in the car and connectors on the car seat, which makes for easy installation and can eliminate potential errors resulting from installing a car seat with a seat belt. However, many parents don't know that the 65-pound weight limit for using the LATCH system includes the weight of your child as well as the weight of the car seat itself (most average between 20-25 pounds).

We spoke with Sarah Tilton, Britax's Child Passenger Safety Technician and Chair of the National Child Passenger Safety Board, who confirmed LATCH weight limit guidelines for us. "Very often we see a misuse with LATCH systems as families don't know that they have a total weight capacity," she told POPSUGAR. "Your car seat plus your child cannot weight more than 65 pounds. There's a label on the side of every car seat manufactured since 2014 that tells you what that child's weight capacity is for lower anchors."

Kate Koch-Sundquist, mom and Parent.co editor, is a self-proclaimed "car-seat safety fanatic," but even she was unaware of this common and dangerous mistake.

If there's one thing I'm crazy about, it's my kids' safety. That's why I was surprised – no, shocked – to discover that a car seat safety rule exists that I didn't know about. As a result, I was unknowingly putting my son in an unsafe position. . . . At 45 pounds, my 5-year-old is still in a five-point harness car seat, which he will probably be in until he gets his driver's license. (Is there a rule about driving from a car seat?) Up until today, his car seat was secured using the LATCH system. I had never even noticed the sticker on the side which specifies that the LATCH system is for use up to 40 pounds only. I guess I'm not perfect after all.

If you, too, find you're making this error - or want to avoid doing so in the future - be sure to check the sticker on your child's car seat to find the maximum weight limit for installing that car seat with LATCH. Once your child has reached capacity, consult your vehicle owner's manual and car seat user guide to ensure you're correctly installing your child's seat using a seat belt and tether.

How to Pack a Perfect Mason Jar Salad

5 Things We Know About 13 Reasons Why Season 2

Before Netflix could even announce whether a second season of 13 Reasons Why was a possibility, viewers divided themselves into two camps: those who wanted more episodes and those who absolutely did not. As of May 7, Netflix is forging ahead with season two, and we already have several key details. Of course, more solid information will trickle in over the next few months, but we're at a good starting place. Here's what we know!

1. The Plot

Before the renewal was finalized, we had a few creative theories about how Netflix could continue Hannah's story . . . it sounds like we're mostly wrong, though. Netflix's official statement says that season two "picks up in the aftermath of Hannah Baker's (Katherine Langford) death and the start of the characters' complicated journeys toward healing and recovery." Healing and recovery sounds great, but remember how season one ends? There's potential for a whole lot more damage.

Creator Brian Yorkey confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that "it's safe to say we pick up a number of months after the first season ended." He also said Hannah will be back, as they writers will again be weaving the past with the present, that we'll see more of Jessica's story, and that a different person will serve as the narrator. Netflix confirmed all this (and more) with a tweet:

While speaking at Netflix's 13 Reasons Why FYC event in Beverly Hills in June, Yorkey added that the focus of the second season will pivot to the other characters. "Hannah told her version of events, but there are at least 12 kids who have another version of those events that we actually haven't really heard from yet," he said. "I don't think Hannah told any untruths on her tape. She reclaimed her narrative, which had really been taken from her."

2. The Teaser

The 21-second clip doesn't include any of the main actors, but it does focus on the locations we see in the first season. Liberty High School, The Crestmont, and Baker's Drug Store all flash on screen, meaning we'll probably be revisiting all these places.

3. Who Is Involved?

Creator Brian Yorkey is returning, but we don't yet know if author Jay Asher is helping write the new batch of episodes. In fact, Asher's recent Tweet seems to imply that he won't be involved: "My confident excitement for @13ReasonsWhy Season 2 rests in Brian Yorkey and the mind meld we performed a couple years ago. (And that cast!)" Selena Gomez posted the season two teaser on Instagram, so we can assume she's continuing on as an executive producer. As for the cast, it's very likely that most of them will be back (Ross Butler recently dropped out of Riverdale due to professional conflicts) if the episodes are just a continuation of the first season.

4. What the Cast Has Said

The cast have posted about their excitement for a second season via Twitter and Instagram, but they've remained tight-lipped about what season two could hold. Star Katherine Langford did speak to what she hopes will happen during a red carpet interview with E! News on May 7: "Personally, I would be interested to see more discussion into what's happening afterwards," she said. "It's interesting in the first season we get to see what the characters go through post-Hannah's death. I think Jessica [Alisha Boe] has a really interesting story to tell - and recovery to make."

5. The Premiere Date

Netflix confirmed that the second season will consist of another 13 episodes, which will stream on the site in 2018.

This "Nightmare" Wedding Story Has the Internet Outraged For Good Reason

Wedding etiquette has become more relaxed and less traditional over the years, but what one man did at his best friend's wedding is being widely viewed as disrespectful across social media. According to a recent submission on Slate's "Dear Prudence" relationship column, one woman says her husband's best friend/best man "Jack" proposed to his girlfriend "Jane" in the middle of her wedding!

"The entire atmosphere felt moving. So moving in fact that John stopped midceremony to propose to his longtime girlfriend, "Jane," and reveal her pregnancy," the anonymous woman recalled. "I couldn't even hear the vows my husband wrote or the rest of the ceremony over the noise of Jane's happy sobs, her very surprised family who were also guests, and people seated nearby congratulating her."

If that weren't horrific enough, what Jack did later that evening was the icing on the cake. No pun intended. "When John gave his toast, he apologized for being caught up in the moment, and then proceeded to talk about he and Jane's future with nary a mention of us."

The woman in question asked if she and her husband were "angry over nothing" or were they justified for wanting to end their friendship with "John". It didn't take long for the internet to weigh in with their (passionate) thoughts on the awkward ordeal. Check out some of the reactions to the now-viral wedding nightmare ahead.

How NYX Became THE Mass Brand at the Top of the Social Media Hierarchy

NYX Professional Makeup, a budget brand with the payoff of higher-priced alternatives, started as a line that catered to professionals in the industry. And it still does. But now, the power of social media has allowed it to appeal to a vast market of influencers and their makeup-loving fans. It's done this by creating affordable products for artists of all levels and by focusing on diversity within the makeup community.

You may know the brand's story, but if not, here are the Cliff Notes: NYX Professional Makeup was founded in 1999 by Toni Ko in Los Angeles, catering to the burgeoning makeup artist community in SoCal. Ko sold the brand to L'Oréal for $500 million in 2015, left her post at the cosmetics company, and is the brain behind millennial-centric brand Perverse Sunglasses. (She's clearly got a knack for creating successful brands.)

The brand sold to L'Oréal for $500 million in 2015

NYX provides professional, trend-driven products at a price point that won't break the bank. Think liquid lipsticks for $7 a pop, glitter pigments for $6, and eye shadow palettes around $15. Tribe Dynamics, a marketing technology company for lifestyle brands, reports that NYX was in the top five cosmetics brands for March 2017 when it comes to earned media value - a benchmark metric which determines the earned publicity through digital word-of-mouth. In layman's terms: people are talking up a storm about NYX online.

NYX (pronounced "niks") was initially only sold in CVS, Target, and Ulta Beauty before opening its first retail location at Westfield Santa Anita in Arcadia, CA, in 2015. In the past 18 months, the brand has opened over 100 retail locations, including shops in France and Thailand, and it just added a storefront at The Miracle Mile Shops in Las Vegas. The stores were created with social media in mind, featuring large vanities with digital tutorials led by influencers, so consumers can follow along while testing out products before they purchase. Lines for store openings frequently round the block and start overnight.

"What we wanted to do was bring the ultimate expression of brand to our fans," said Nathalie Kristo, global marketing manager of NYX. "What we were noticing, of course, was how they were interacting on social media and digital in this makeup world. We thought, 'Why don't we bring a place where we combine digital and social media with our 2,000 products and create a place where we can play with makeup, discover new looks, [and] follow tutorials on how to create the latest makeup looks?' We aimed to translate all of the energy that we've had with our online community into a physical place."

Bringing Democracy to Makeup

It's rare that a brand appeals to professional artists and also caters to YouTubers and the regular makeup junkie alike. For NYX, the focus has always been to create a space that celebrates artistry of all calibers.

"For us, it stems from the mission this brand has: artistry for all. This idea that everybody can have access to professional makeup products," said Kristo. "That everyone can have access to the latest makeup looks. And that's what social media has done. They've really helped democratize makeup artistry. It used to be a pretty closed circle - you used to have to go to school and gotten a certificate or certification. With social media, it's allowed people to teach each other and to learn and to become more DIY. It's about bringing creativity, artistry, and the passion for makeup to everyone."

Part of that passion led to the founding of The Fine Artistry of Cosmetic Elites Awards, or FACE Awards for short. "The NYX Face Awards is like the Olympics of makeup," said Nikita Dragun, whose YouTube channel has over 550K subscribers, and who appeared at the opening of the Miracle Mile Shops location.

The socially driven competition pits artists against each other through a series of makeup challenges. Many top YouTube talent are alumni of the awards, and semi-finalists and finalists from previous years have re-entered the 2017 competition. New talent is also welcomed into the pool - and it can help catapult their careers. The Top 20 were just announced for this year's competition, which culminates with a live event on Aug. 19, where the winner walks away with $50,000 and title of beauty vlogger of the year.

"The Face Awards, for example, has been a platform where a lot of upcoming makeup artists or influencers of today are alumni. We've known them since they've been starting out," said Kristo. "We've done what we can to advance them and their careers and we're really proud of that. We're really happy to see them grow and flourish." 2015's winner, Mykie of Glam & Gore, had 350,000 subscribers when she was announced as a Top 30 contestant; two years later, she currently touts over 1.98M subscribers and has worked with studios like Lionsgate.

Innovation Based on Consumer Hacks

NYX prides itself on producing trend-worthy products at a moment's notice, which allows them to easily get in on major social media moments while the iron is still hot. "When we see something brewing online, we quickly go into product development, and then we bring it to market as fast as possible. If we see people using products in interesting, different ways, it maybe tells us "Oh, there's a need for this,'" said Kristo. For example, the creation of Macaron Lippies, which feature vivid neon and pastel shades, were created after the team saw consumers using the Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk ($4) and layering bright eye shadow shades on top to create a pastel pop.

"[If] they're using a product in a way it's not meant to be used in order to do something else, it gives us an idea that maybe there's something we need to bring to market," said Kristo.

Inclusiveness in Product and Social Media

NYX, while mass market, isn't overshadowed by prestige brands. Tribe Dynamics reports NYX as ranking within the top five brands on almost all digital social channels (Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, and Blogs) in terms of earned media value, and it is the only mass brand within a sea of prestige like MAC Cosmetics, Benefit Cosmetics, Anastasia Beverly Hills, Too Faced, Tarte, and Urban Decay. In fact, no other mass brand is in the Top 10 ranking companies. According to Statista, NYX ranks as the No. 4 beauty brand in Instagram followers, thanks to its 11.1 million fans to date.

"We've built this community over many years. We were one of the first brands to understand the power of social media through makeup," said Kristo. "What we've done on social media is really celebrate the artistry of everyday people. Our Instagram account is a platform to celebrate, whether it's really sophisticated makeup artists, influencers, or everyday people that are interpreting makeup in different ways."

"What we've done on social media is really celebrate the artistry of everyday people." - Nathalie Kristo

The brand focuses on inclusivity and diversity, offering a variety of shades that caters to all races. The Lip Lingerie line features 24 shades of "nude" matte liquid lipstick; the Total Control Drop Foundation also features 24 shades, including fair, light, medium, and deep with varying undertones.

"NYX as a brand embodies every woman, every boy, anything - everything in between. That's what's made them so successful, lending to their creativity and self-expression. I'm a trans girl, coming from Virginia, and I found myself resonating with the brand and what they stand for. They cater to everyone," said Dragun, who came out on her channel as transgender in 2015.

This mission of inclusivity has helped take NYX to the top. "We've always been a social media brand. We know that our audience is everybody," said Kristo. "We are one of the brands that is one of the most well developed with every ethnic group. We've taken care of the products to have strong pigment load, to have all of the colors available in the different shades and undertones so people know that the product will work for them. And we've always represented diversity well on all of our platforms and social media."

How Muslim “Hijabistas” are Resisting in the Trump Era - With Style

President Donald Trump's travel ban against six Muslim-majority countries was a slap in the face to the Islamic world - and it still stings. While fashion might not seem the most likely way to cope with feelings of division and discrimination, two Muslim women are finding creative ways to fight the hate with style.

Hassanah El-Yacoubi and Reem Motaweh are merging art and entrepreneurship to quench the bitterness they feel toward Trump's presidency very differently than most demonstrators. Both women wear hijabs and are self-proclaimed hijabistas, or hijabi fashionistas. Both are fashion bloggers and clothing curators who have launched businesses specifically to empower Muslim women during this time of cultural tension.

"Every day I wear my hijab to show that I am proud of who I am," said Motaweh. "I knew I had to do something to help others who may not feel the same way."

At only 21-years-old, Reem Motaweh is a budding fashion designer and the creator of the Los Angeles-based subscription service About That Wrap. For less than $30 a month, Motaweh sends a box of modern and modest clothing items right to her customers' doors. It includes items such as chic hijabs, scarves, and jewelry. Unlike other clothing subscription services, this package comes with a personalized style guide intended to inspire the buyer to love and appreciate the beauty of the Islamic faith.

Reem Motaweh, About That Wrap

"I walk around proud with my hijab because nothing I'm doing is wrong," said Motaweh. "My hijab is a part of me just like my name."

Hassanah El-Yacoubi is also on the cutting edge of Muslim fashion in Los Angeles. As the founder of a PFH, Perfect For Her, El-Yacoubi encourages Muslim women to bridge their religious identity through fashion. El-Yacoubi is a PhD student at the University of California Riverside and one of her interests is how Muslim women create new forms of identity through mediated practices such as modest fashion. She also hosts the largest annual modest fashion show in California to help women and girls renew their confidence in being Muslim.

Hassanah El-Yacoubi, Perfect For Her

"I wear my headscarf as a symbol of modesty just like the Virgin Mary," said El-Yacoubi. "In most of the images that we see of the Virgin Mary, she is wearing a veil."

Tackling Hate With Hijabi Fashion

El-Yacoubi sells long-sleeved maxi dresses and gowns with floral and lace appliques that are both modern and modest, and in the past, she has also sold hijabs made of silky cloth. The lightweight necklaces and earrings Motaweh sells are often pieced together with pastel gems. Once their items are ready to hit the market, models pose for photo shoots that look they should be in the glossy pages of a couture magazine. Instead, the photos end up on Instagram.

And women like El-Yacoubi and Motaweh are not alone in their efforts. Muslim female entrepreneurship is surging, and the Muslim consumer market is growing. Muslim consumers spent approximately $266 billion on clothing worldwide in 2016, a figure that is estimated to almost double by 2020, according to a report by Thomson Reuters and research firm DinarStandard.

"Los Angeles is a huge market for me and other Muslim women right now because this city is so open-minded," said Motaweh. "I have a large following in Egypt and Malaysia, but Los Angeles is becoming the new hub for hijab exporters and buyers."

The California Fashion Association reports that $46 billion in apparel imports come through Los Angeles ports annually, including authentic fabrics and textiles predominantly from Middle Eastern regions. Such a large supply of these materials being funneled into Los Angeles has made designing and selling authentic hijabs relatively inexpensive for new designers and large companies alike.

"Corporations and organizations were always hesitant to publicly align themselves with Muslims out of fear they would lose funding," said El-Yacoubi. "Now, there's a wave of companies standing up for us."

A True Fashion Statement

Neiman Marcus, Marshalls, Sears, and Burlington are among the list of stores that have stopped carrying the Trump brand after he instituted the travel restrictions on Muslims. Other stores like Macy's and Amazon are being pressured to do the same. Nordstrom also confirmed in early February they would no longer sell Ivanka Trump shoes or accessories.

"We made this decision based on performance," a spokesperson for Nordstrom said in a statement. "Over the past year, and particularly in the last half of 2016, sales of the brand have steadily declined."

In addition to backpedaling away from selling Trump products, companies and designers are also improving Muslim representation in their marketing campaigns. Amid a streamlining effort, brands like Dolce & Gabbana and DKNY have turned the hijab into high fashion by using it as the focal point of their collections. Rapper Kanye West also pushed for the debut of a hijab-wearing model, Halima Aden, in his latest show during New York Fashion Week.

Eric Rose, a crisis management expert and partner at the communications firm Englander Knabe & Allen, believes the current political climate is inspiring business owners to celebrate Muslim culture more directly.

"We are in a new era where companies are now advocating for social issues and taking stances that are predictably going to cause a reaction in the marketplace," said Rose.

While it is still uncertain whether companies are dumping the Trump brand for business or political reasons, Motaweh and El-Yacoubi both believe this is a significant step toward mending the troubled relationship America has with the hijab.

Bridging Divides Instead of Building Walls

The latest FBI annual hate crime report shows anti-Muslim hate crimes in the United States rose 67 percent in 2016 year over year and are steadily increasing. El-Yacoubi says that Muslim women are often targets.

"Muslim women bear the brunt of the hate because they are visibly Muslim," El-Yacoubi said. "I want to remind women that diminishing that visibility is not the answer."

Many nonprofit organizations and groups are also channeling their efforts toward normalizing the visibility of being Muslim. Edina Lekovic, the spokesperson for the Muslim Public Affairs Council, proudly wears a colorful hijab daily and believes systemic change begins with the non-Muslim community.

"Clothing is a symbolic issue, and I think it's unfortunate when Muslim women are used as political footballs," Lekovic said. "There's a larger issue of integration and identity here and non-Muslims have to help us stand against the hate and bigotry."

Motaweh and El-Yacoubi both plan to continue growing their brands in Los Angeles in hopes their clothing lines will inspire other large and small retailers to be fearless when it comes to understanding the lived realities of Muslim women - and showing respect for diverse beliefs and cultures. Through the hard words flaring from pro-Trump forces, Motaweh says one message is very clear:

"With so many individuals coming together around the world to make Muslims feel included and worthy, time will heal our divides."

The event honored the victims of the bombing during Ariana's Manchester show on May 22, and brought out a handful of stars including Pharrell Williams, Miley Cyrus, Niall Horan, Justin Bieber, and Katy Perry. The concert kicked off with a moment of silence and also paid tribute to the victims of the recent London Bridge attack.

It was initially unclear whether the concert was still on given Saturday's attack, but Ariana's manager Scooter Braun released a statement prior to the show on Instagram saying the show would continue. "After the events last night in London, and those in Manchester just two weeks ago, we feel a sense of responsibility to honor those lost, injured, and affected," he wrote. "We plan to honor them with courage, bravery, and defiance in the face of fear. Today's One Love Manchester benefit concert will not only continue, but will do so with greater purpose. We must not be afraid, and in tribute to all those affected here and around the world, we will bring our voices together and sing loudly."
