We Will Never Be Over Jackie Cruz's Beautiful Tribute to Selena
Orange Is the New Black star Jackie Cruz, who plays Flaca on the hit Netflix series, returned to her musical roots back in October 2015 for a tribute cover - and music video - of Selena Quintanilla's "Como La Flor" in partnership with Vivala.
"She's one of my biggest idols, and her music still lives on," Jackie told Billboard about Selena. The Quintanilla family recently proved Jackie's point when they released a previously unheard song and sent fans into a frenzy.
And why did Jackie pick "Como La Flor" of all songs? "It just reminds me a lot of a relationship I had in the past, and it's something I really connect to," she said. Watch the beautiful video above.

Remember When Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens Were Disney Channel's King and Queen?
If you grew up watching Disney Channel in the early '00s, then you probably had (and still have) strong opinions about Zanessa (aka Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens). In 2006, Zac and Vanessa, who were respectively 17 and 16 at the time, sang their way into our hearts with their roles in High School Musical, and it wasn't long after that they took onscreen romance to real heights. With their movie franchise propelling them to superstardom, it didn't take long for them to become the It couple of the Disney Channel. While we all held a candle for Zac and those gorgeous blue eyes, the pair's giggly dates to basketball games and lovey-dovey, PDA-filled red carpet appearances, made their young love hard to resist. Even though their relationship came to an end in 2010, their romance will always hold a special place in our tweenage hearts.
Ashley Olsen's Favorite Pair of Jeans Are Ones You've Been Wearing For Ages
While it's become custom for Ashley Olsen to keep things low key, making most public appearances on the red carpet at Award shows or fancy dinners, she recently opened her new Elizabeth and James store at The Grove in LA, and she invited The Coveteur inside for an exclusive peek. Ashley and her sister, Mary-Kate, posed for photos, talked design, and revealed some of their favorite vintage pieces.
Inside the shop, on top of a table next to t-shirts and some scarves, are a stack of Levi's. "These [vintage Levi's] came from a flea market in New York. My favorite jeans are [a] pair of vintage Levi's and my old Elizabeth and James zip-front jeans in black. We re-did them in the last Fall collection," Ashley told the Coveteur.
A quick search through Ashley's latest street style moments reveals she's definitely a fan of jeans, skinny and worn-in designs in particular. We aren't surprised Ashley named one of the most iconic American denim brands as her favorite. Part of being an industry leader is paying respect to the greats, after all. Martin Short and Steve Martin Make Out While Honoring Diane Keaton
Diana Keaton was surrounded by her famous friends when she was honored with a Life Achievement Award by the American Film Institute in LA on Thursday night. While several stars paid tribute to the actress during the ceremony - including Meryl Streep, who dressed up as her iconic character, Annie Hall - one of the best moments was between her Father of the Bride costars Steve Martin and Martin Short. Aside from serenading Diane, on and off stage, the comedians put their bromance on full display when they locked lips at their seats. Perhaps they're trying to give Ryan Reynolds and Andrew Garfield, who famously shared a smooch at the Golden Globes, a run for their money.

This Blogger Stopped Shaving Her Body Hair and Now Lives Her Most Comfortable Life
When fitness blogger Morgan Mikenas was in middle school, she was bullied during gym class about having hair on her legs. She went home after school and cried to her mom begging her to teach her how to shave, but years later, she made a personal decision to stop shaving and she's finally living her truest life. "I'm not trying to make all of humanity just stop shaving their armpits and leg hair anymore," Morgan said in a YouTube video explaining why she quit shaving. "I just want to inspire others in what works for you, what makes you feel the most comfortable."
She said that the number one reason why she stopped was because of the time it took. "One day, I was like, why am I doing this anymore?" and that was it for Morgan. She stopped shaving her legs over a year ago and has never looked back. Society puts pressure on women to look a certain way, but Morgan explained she is leaving her body the way Mother Nature intended.
"When I would let my leg hair grow out in the past I would feel dirty, I would feel kind of ashamed because I just didn't feel feminine," she said. "So, then I would feel obligated to go shave my legs so I would feel good and feel sexy, but not anymore. Honestly I frickin' love my hair, I love my body hair, I love the hair that grows on my body. I just like being my most natural and human self."
Since she stopped shaving, Morgan has been more comfortable than ever before. Her boyfriend encourages her and thinks she looks beautiful with or without hair, but no one should be ashamed of their body hair and Morgan wants her followers to know that. "I just think it's unfair to people who think they have to be in this norm, this culture norm," she said. "You just do whatever makes you feel good."

Budgeting 101 For the Self-Employed Boss
Whether you're selling organic hand-milled soap on Etsy, teaching yoga classes out of your home studio, or leading a tech startup, you know that being your own boss is very rewarding. The ability to create a flexible schedule, work from home, and only have yourself to answer to is enough to make many people think twice about their jobs in the corporate world.
Working for yourself isn't always going to be a bowl of cherries, however, as choosing the path of self-employment means taking on additional responsibility and a bunch of other downsides you might not hear about during a TED Talk: longer hours, no employer-paid benefits, and no payroll, accounting, or HR department to turn to when things get overwhelming. In addition to ensuring your company's economic viability and maintaining a profitable business model, you'll experience added financial stressors such as dealing with tax implications for independent workers. This stress can be alleviated by building a rainy-day fund. Experts recommend having an emergency fund large enough to cover three to six months of expenses - at a minimum. If you're self-employed, it's especially important to have one set up before you take the plunge into entrepreneurship, as an emergency fund acts as a cushion to cover unexpected expenses and eliminates the need to turn to credit.
Ideally, independent workers should open multiple bank accounts, each serving a different purpose. Depending on your lifestyle or line of work, these accounts may differ slightly, but they typically operate under the same basic money management system.
Baseline or Personal Checking Account
First off, you'll need to know your baselines, which include things that are necessary to survive such as food, shelter, medical expenses, and transportation. With a regular income, it's easy to budget for these because you know exactly what's coming in. As an independent, it's a little trickier because you'll have to work backward. Include your groceries, but with no frills - you want to be as lean as possible. For shelter, factor in your rent or mortgage costs, property insurance, utilities, and maintenance fees. Allocate money for health insurance and outstanding medical bills. Under transportation, allocate funds for a transit pass, insurance, gas, your car loan, parking, maintenance, and repair. Add these costs to your estimated taxes, and this will be the minimum amount of income your business will need to generate.
Tax Account
It's solely your responsibility to complete your quarterly estimated tax payments and submit them to the IRS, so be sure to set aside 30 percent of your earnings for taxes. Your payments should cover self-employment tax as well as federal and state income taxes. As an independent, your rates for Social Security and Medicare taxes will be higher, because unlike a typical job, your employer will not be subsidizing any of your taxes. Be sure to calculate the correct rate and pay your taxes on time - the last thing you want is to get hit with a penalty for not paying the required amount by the due date.
Retirement Account
Let's face it: as much as you love being self-employed, there's going to come a point when you just want to relax in your golden years. As an independent, no one is going to prepare for these years other than you, so be sure to put away at least 10 percent of your earnings (after taxes) for your retirement. If you don't have 10 percent, put away as much as you can and make up for the remaining amount once you have a steady flow of income.
Business Account/Savings
Set your target revenue for the month. Be realistic with your goals. Your target income should exceed the combined baseline and tax amounts and should give you enough cash to set aside in case you have slow months. Any extra money can be reinvested to grow your business or put toward other investments such as real estate.
Once you gain some consistency, you can tweak your money management to suit your needs. Like any job, there is a learning curve, and your first months might be difficult. Running your own business takes a lot of hard work and dedication and you'll need to make some sacrifices, but if you have the passion and vision, you will find a way to make it possible.
Kansas Law Requires Abortion Doctors to Give Patients Their Resumes - in a Specific Font
Kansas Governor Sam Brownback continued his anti-abortion crusade on June 7 when he signed his 19th piece of legislation infringing on women's reproductive rights since taking office in 2011.
The new law will require doctors to give women seeking abortions physical printouts of their resumes, including biographical information, malpractice insurance, and educational history - and they must do it in black ink, on white paper, in 12-pt, Times New Roman font. Not only are the instructions ridiculously archaic (who even prints things anymore?), but the document must be distributed to a woman at least 24 in advance of her abortion. Notably, delaying women's ability to access abortion via state-mandated waiting periods has been a key tactic of abortion opponents nationwide in their efforts to chip away at reproductive rights.
The legislation is so aggressive that even some of Brownback's colleagues who are opposed to abortion are publicly speaking out against it. "I don't like abortion, but this bill is just harassment," Sen. Lynn Rogers told the Topeka Capital-Journal.
A Catholic Nun Perfectly Explains the Major Hypocrisy of the "Pro-Life" Argument
An Alaska State Rep Thinks Women Are Using Abortions as an Excuse to Travel
The NYT Published an Antiabortion Op-Ed Without Clearly Identifying the Author's Bias
Laura McQuade, the president and CEO of Planned Parenthood Great Plains Votes, framed the bill as a distraction in a statement shared with POPSUGAR. "It is no coincidence that Governor Brownback signed SB 83, an extreme piece of legislation that unfairly targets abortion providers, one day after the Kansas Legislature overrode the Governor's veto of a tax reform plan."
The Kansas law is both representative of the increased rollback of reproductive rights on the state level in recent years and of Brownback's self-proclaimed mission to make Kansas the "leading pro-life state in America."
The law goes into effect July 1. Eleven of Brownback's fellow Kansas lawmakers joined him for the signing ceremony. All of them were men.

Exclusive First Reveal of Huda Kattan's 12 Lip Strobe Metallic Liquid Lipsticks
jIn the midst of an over-saturated, holographic beauty world, Huda Kattan managed to launch a collection of metallic strobing lip gloss collection that feels fresh. The entrepreneur and Instagram star looked for inspiration from both the past and the future when she developed her Lip Strobes, a 12-shade range launching mid June ($18 each, shophudabeauty.com). The hues play into both the frosty shades of the '90s and iridescent unicorn-inspired products of 2017.
"Right now people are obsessed with things that seem out of this world and give them some type of surprise," she told POPSUGAR via email. "The idea of something iridescent or duo chromatic seems a little mysterious and unique. They are kind of super '90s meets the future."
The colors may play into the existing trend, but each feels unique. There are both sheer and full-coverage shimmer formulas. Expect a range that varies from Enchanted, a pale pink with a pearlescent finish, to Fearless, a sparkly pigmented fuchsia.
"I am obsessed with duo chromes and iridescence right now!" she said of how the concept was born. "We were inspired when we were creating our Melted Strobe for our 3D Highlighters. We were just playing with shimmers and glitters and somehow this was created."
Huda went on: "For the colors we wanted something that would almost change in some lights or on top of certain colors. All of the glosses have serious shimmer, some are opaque and full of pigment and shine, while others are duo chromatic and iridescent."
The vlogger admitted she is not always a fan of lip glosses, so she was extra careful when crafting these. Don't expect the sticky, goopy ones you actually wore back when *NSYNC was together. "I hate gloss, and I am super fussy with what I wear," she said. "This feels so luxurious and hydrating while wearing. It's not sticky and the strobes feel super comfortable on the lips."
"I hate gloss, and I am super fussy with what I wear. This feels so luxurious and hydrating."
She even perfected the applicator to enhance the cozy wearability. "The strobes also have a precision, heart-shaped wand which glides on an even coat for a luminous finish giving you an extra smooth application," she added.
When it came to naming, she simply picked adjectives that would cater to your moods. "The names were inspired by our Liquid Mattes - we thought of it as the next step to your pout," Huda explained. "So we thought we would make it a way to describe the personality behind the Liquid Matte. So you could be a Ritzy (Lip Strobe) Trophy Wife (Liquid Matte), or a Shameless (Lip Strobe) Trendsetter (Liquid Matte) and really feel something towards the look you floss."
Though we knew it would be like choosing between children, we asked which color is her favorite. "This is so hard but I'd have to say that I am obsessed with Snobby," Huda revealed. "It's one of the shades which took the longest to create, and I'd bathe in it if I could! It's a semi-sheer pink shade with gold and pink big shimmers!"
According to Huda, the best way to wear the Lip Strobe is to glide it across your pout, and then take some off with a tissue. "You can remove the gloss by blotting off the excess, which will leave you with a glistening shimmer without the gloss." She also recommends layering it on thoroughly for an intensely pigmented, shiny style, or dabbing it in just the center of your pout for a subtle contoured effect.
Huda even tried wearing them on her eyelids, which she teased on social media! "I never realized this would work so well until a day before our campaign shoot!" she enthused. "They look ahhhmazing on the lids, and you can wear them on top of a shadow or just as is. For easy application, a small flat brush works nicely or even your fingers will do the trick. I would only recommend adding a small amount and for short periods, since it is a gloss and will move around." Basically: do it for Instagram, and then wash it off before you attend a rooftop soiree in the heat.
Before you worry about removing these buzzy lip glosses, start planning how you'll get your hands on them when they launch later this month! And as you count down the minutes until you can hit "add to cart," see every shade and swatch - exclusively here first!
How a Mom Used Her Earrings to Prove That She Was Invisible After Giving Birth
Like many new moms, Anastasia Aligiannis noticed that things changed after giving birth to her baby boy. She felt like she had become completely invisible and to prove her point, she took out one of her earrings.
It took seven months before anyone noticed that she was only wearing one earring, despite being surrounded by family and friends. "All those social interactions, and no one ever looked me square in the face and noticed," she shared on Facebook. "It sort of cemented to me that as a very busy mom of then two children under two who 'just stayed at home' or 'didn't work.' I had almost become invisible not just to society, but to my family and friends, and really maybe even to myself."
Anastasia explained that even conversations over the phone followed a similar pattern: people asking how her children and husband are but never following up with asking about her. "I guess people figured if the people it was my responsibility to care for were OK, then I must be," she wrote.
Although many new moms can relate and may even smile in recognition, Anastasia made it clear that the point of her post wasn't to be funny but instead to send a message. "If today you are feeling overwhelmed, invisible or like you don't matter, you do. You are so important and are probably the cog that keeps everything running smoothly," she wrote. "Keep up the good work, and if no one else says it to you this week, know that you are invaluable in the work you do and your sacrifices do not go unnoticed."

This 1 Overlooked Harry Potter Detail Reveals So Much About Mad-Eye Moody
Just when we thought we knew it all about Harry Potter, another subtle detail about the series comes and blows our minds. This time, it's about Alastor Moody, the retired auror who boasts an enchanted glass eye and a propensity for paranoid conspiracy theories. It turns out that Moody may have been the only person who laid eyes - errr, eye - on the true form of one of the series' most memorable magical creatures.
A Redditor called UnavailableUsername_ made the connection using a specific moment from the Harry Potter books, notably in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Check it out below.
Alastor Moody may have been one of the few wizards to see the real appearance of a boggart. from harrypotter
You see, because of the magical qualities of Moody's glass eye, he was able to see through solid objects, and therefore, when presented with a boggart, Moody was likely able to observe its true form. Since boggarts only take the form of a person's worst fear when they know they're being watched, that means that Moody - when peering through the wood of a chest at an unsuspecting boggart - likely saw whatever a boggart appears as in its true form.
We'd love to know exactly what the former auror saw in the chest at 12 Grimmauld Place. It's easy to picture a gray blob or a cloud of mist, but we're sure that J.K. Rowling has something even more creative in mind for the creature's form! Maybe we'll get a glimpse in the next installation of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, eh?

10 Feminist Poets Who Will Leave You Stronger Than Before
If you're at all skeptical of your ability to enjoy poetry, I don't blame you. I know I used to be. It's hard not to equate poetry with tough days at school analyzing poems about things that have seemingly nothing to do with us, written by people who died centuries ago and wrote in languages that feel totally foreign. It's a shame how this is often our first impression of poetry. Oh, the ways we could have been healing all this time had we not been so afraid of it.
Because that's what poetry does. It heals. And there is a whole world of contemporary poets out there, putting into words we can understand all the things we've been feeling. Today, poetry is being challenged and subverted by young and achingly feminist voices, here to light a fire in our souls. I'm so glad I gave poetry a chance when I did. The woman I was before I discovered my love for poetry is strikingly different from the woman I am now. She was so much more confused, insecure, and unaware of her power. It's all poetry's fault that I've begun to learn how to hone in on my own strength, especially poetry written by the 10 poets listed here. They have each taught me something only they could have taught me. They have each healed me with their own particular brand of healing. Here is my tribute to them.
2 Wedding Dresses and 1 Amazing Couple Make This California Elopement Perfection
Tanya and Katy of Third Coast Photography met and worked in Chicago before relocating to Southern California. The couple wanted their work to reflect more of their new home state, which helped inspire this styled elopement, featuring their friends and real-life couple, Molly and Liz.
"We are also in the process of planning our wedding (yup! partners in life and business!) and were having a hard time finding wedding inspiration from other lesbian couples that truly spoke to us," Third Coast said. Tanya and Katy went over to Molly and Liz's place to discuss the shoot, and their fun and vibrant taste made it an obvious decision to make their home the main inspiration.
Molly and Liz met in 2011 at Summer camp in Santa Cruz as camp counselors where they instantly became best friends and fell in love. "We love each other like crazy and share a mutual love of dance parties, cute coffee shops, rainbow colors, outdoor adventures, and making each other laugh," Molly said. "I feel so lucky to have found such an incredibly loving, kind, and supportive person that I get to be with forever."
When Third Coast Photo asked the two if they'd be willing to stage an elopement, they enthusiastically agreed. Their "big day" unfolded as real nuptials would have with getting-ready photos and wedding dresses. Tanya really captured Liz and Molly in their natural element being silly and in love. When looking at their photos, you completely forget that it's not their actual wedding day because of how authentic their relationship feels.
"Even though the elopement was staged, it really felt real and made me even more excited for the day that Liz and I actually get married," Molly said. "We cried when saying our fake vows! Our best friend, Katy Storch, 'married us,' which made the day even more special. She will be the one that marries us when we get married for real."
Though we're still waiting for the real proposal, we cannot wait for the adorable pair to tie the knot officially! See their beautiful photos ahead!
H&M's Best-Kept Shopping Secrets, From a Former Employee
H&M is a beast of a store, and more often than not, it's too overwhelming to even fathom covering all your bases. Seriously, every nook and cranny has some type of product merchandised into it. But with the right strategy, you could come out of H&M looking and feeling like a true fashion girl having checked off every single item on your list.
I worked at H&M for four years, and I kid you not, almost every outfit I own was plucked from the shelves there (all the way down to my underwear and hair ties). So you can trust me when I say I know my way around the merchandise. Here's what you should know, too:
1. You Can Get a Discount Every Time You Shop and Save the Planet While You're At It
H&M is collecting old and used garments as an indefinite initiative to close the gap on waste. Bring up to two bags (four to five items) of unwanted textiles - think clothes, placemats, pillow cases - and receive up to two coupons for 15 percent off your next purchase. These textiles are then broken down into fibers and given a new life in the form of H&M's Conscious collection. The surplus is donated to the H&M Foundation and split between social and recycling projects.
2. Sizing Is Weird, Your Body Is Not!
Everything at H&M runs small. When suggesting size options, I would tell customers to choose the two sizes above their normal to try on. Just remember it's not you, it's the inseam! I am normally a size 8, but at H&M, I always wear a size 10 or 12.
3. Shop by Concept
Sometimes with all that merch it's hard to tell where you're going or what you're doing. All of a sudden, furry cropped sweaters, one business-casual blazer, and a leather mini skirt are spilling out of your arms, when all you wanted was a nice pair of cropped denim pants.
H&M is broken down into distinct concepts. These are the ones to note:
- Everyday: For the everyday woman, these pieces are positioned front and center upon entering the store. The everyday woman is strong, independent, and always on trend. Here you will find the items fast-fashion retailers are known for. Tag: an off-white, eggshell H&M.
- Trend: For the trendier fashion gal who likes to take risks. Often within or very near the everyday section. These items are at a higher price point but definitely feel more one-of-a-kind. Fewer trend pieces come in regularly, so when you want it, you should grab it. Tag: cream (select stores only).
- By Night: Whether she's elegant or fun, she's ready for a night out. Sectioned within or next to the trend section, these pieces range from fancy jumpsuits to shimmering mini skirts. Tag: gold or black sheer H&M (select stores only).
- Modern Classic: For the classic boss-lady. Your go-to for classic interview attire, modern classic adds fun pieces for an updated work wardrobe. This section also includes the premium collection. These items are made of premium cotton and silk and have an overall higher quality. Tag: silver H&M.
- Divided: For the young, fun, and carefree. Divided is often considered a sort of "juniors" line, only because their sizes run even smaller than everyday pieces. Divided is full of bright colors, crazy patterns, and trendy pieces. These items fall in a lower price point but are not made as well. Tag: black, labeled Divided.
- Divided Grey: A one-off of Divided, this girl is edgy and cool. Think ripped pants, lots of leather, and band tees. Found within the Divided section. Tag: gray, labeled Divided (select stores only).
- L.O.G.G: Standing for Level of Graded Goods, LOGG covers the laid-back, comfort-seeking babe. These items are soft and easy, often associated with the beach or outdoors activities. Tag: fabric tag, labeled LOGG.
4. Online Shopping Is All About the Filters
You can find a volume of funky, elevated, and on-trend items by filtering your search to "Trend." These items are often on sale and not always featured in store. Another thing to mention about new items found online: they are found in store two to three weeks after being featured on the website. If it's a more one-of-a-kind piece, maybe even longer or not at all.
5. Arrive at 9, Leave Before Noon
This is when the store is the cleanest. Staff has finished cleaning any leftover messes from the night before and all go-backs should be in their rightful places. Racks are clean and shoppable. The stock team is also replenishing low products and placing new items. You will always have the most updated and shoppable floor in the a.m. There is never a line for the fitting room. With less of a mess to clean and keep control of, the staff has more time to assist you and your needs!
6. Stock Up on Basics
H&M is like the Mecca of basics. But because of this, the good stuff sells out fast. Shop basics a month ahead of the new season. Need a turtleneck for Fall? Start checking around August. Want a sheer and lightweight Spring sweater? Begin shopping in February. New and fresh basic pieces are often made better, but the store receives less and doesn't always replenish. (I lost my favorite black turtleneck and the store has never seen it again. RIP.)
7. Know the Sales
Markdowns happen every few weeks, which usually include a few trend-section pieces and items not selling down as fast. Big sale pushes happen at the end of every season, so much like basics, shop a few weeks ahead of the seasonal turnover. Items that have been around the longest, usually toward the back of each concept's section, are more likely to be marked down first. Markdowns happen almost weekly during the time of the sale, so continue to check back. Ask sales advisers where older season items are - you are more likely to find one-off sale items in these sections. Trend and premium pieces are almost always marked as 50 percent off. (Bring in your recycled clothes for the additional discount and receive a whopping total of 65 percent off.)
Last Minute Quickies to Note:
- Backstock: Everything is on the floor, with the exception of maybe a few chunky boots that don't fit on the shoe shelf. If it's not there, check online or the next closest H&M. The stockroom will not have the beaded trend tunic you've been eyeing for the past month. I promise.
- Cross-Concept Shopping: There are often different versions of every item, it's just residing in a different concept. If a specific bomber jacket doesn't come in your size, I can guarantee there is another version of it somewhere in the store. Always sift through Divided for trendy pieces the everyday section doesn't seem to have.
- Shoes: Everyday shoes are the most comfortable and last a decent amount of time (usually always falling at the $35 price point).
- Accessories: The amount of accessories that comes through each H&M could fill its own three-story pop-up shop. If you are a big accessory person, take your time in this section. It's easy to miss the perfect pair of earrings, but they're there. I promise you. This section can become the most cluttered, so check past the first few items on every rack.
Wow, Sam Hunt Really Racked Up the Air Miles Trying to Win His Now-Wife Back
Sam Hunt married his longtime love, Hannah Lee Fowler, in April, but like many other celebrity couples, they actually suffered a split before making it official. During an interview with ET at the CMT Awards on Wednesday night, the hunky "Body Like a Back Road" singer opened up about how hard he worked to get Hannah back - and revealed that he flew repeatedly to visit his ex in Hawaii to convince her to give him another chance (which is funny, because I've actually considered flying to Hawaii to get away from mine). "I think last Summer I went out [to Hawaii] about seven times in about three months . . . trying to talk to her about coming back," Sam said, adding, "And the seventh trip I convinced her."
Sam's successful attempts resulted in him and Hannah getting engaged in January and married just three months later. They made their red carpet debut as a married couple at the Billboard Music Awards a few weeks later and likely took a really sweet honeymoon with all those air miles he racked up. So, have you gotten that text back yet?
The 21 Traditions to Look Out For at a Royal Wedding
It's no secret that the Royal Family is big on tradition. Some of them go back centuries - the garter ceremony and celebratory gun salutes - while others are more recent, such as Christmas at Sandringham. However, as times change and things move on, perhaps some of the most personally meaningful traditions adhered to by the family are those associated with royal weddings. Here's what to look out for.
What's Even Cuter Than a Tiny House? A Tiny Dome, That's What
Check out the latest construction to best tiny houses: the adorable dome homes coming out of Smartdome Constructions, a Slovenian company committed to making housing that is sleek, eco-friendly, and portable. The tiny, geometric abodes can be set down virtually anywhere, reducing the need to clear much land. So, if you've found a plot of land that you love but the terrain is uneven or not cleared enough to squeeze in a full-size home, just plunk down a dome and call it a day.
And you really can do the plunking - dome homes are DIY. The domes are elevated above the land on adjustable steel legs, and the modules are comprised of galvanized steel and a moisture-resistant timber framework sealed with UV-resistant rubber. Inhabitat points out that due to its modular design, "the homes can be easily expanded, dismantled, and transported to new locations with little technical knowledge needed." According to Zeljko Hocevar of Smartdome, "It's the first printed dodecahedron structure in the world." It's like a space-age construction that quietly thrives in the middle of a forest.
There is the question of cost-effectiveness, however, as tiny homes don't always equal major savings, and the dome home is not uber cheap. For approximately $22,500, you can order the basic model of a Smartdome home, which measures around 270 square feet - but that doesn't factor in the cost of shipping from Slovenia, nor does the basic model include a bathroom or kitchen.
So, it may not make financial sense for everyone, but for nature-lovers, tiny-home enthusiasts, and DIY warriors who have a plot of land available, dome just may be where the heart is.
