The Harmful Effects of Instant Ramen Noodles

Yes, you know that instant ramen isn't good for you, but studies have confirmed just how harmful the prepackaged food can really be. A study in the Journal of Nutrition links instant noodle consumption with heart risk, particularly in women. The researchers conducted a study in South Korea, where consumption of instant noodles is the highest in the world, with more than 10,700 people ranging in age from 19 to 64. The results? "Women who consume instant noodles frequently were found to be more likely to have metabolic syndrome - the group of risk factors, including obesity and high blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar, that increase the risk of heart disease and diabetes."

The harmful effects were predominantly found in women and not men. Part of the study reads, "Women - though not men - who ate instant noodles at least twice a week showed a 68 percent higher risk of metabolic syndrome," which is a syndrome that can increase the risk of heart attacks and strokes.

The high sodium content in instant noodle products is obvious, but the main culprit is the noodles themselves. In another study by Dr. Braden Kuo, director of the gastrointestinal motility laboratory at Massachusetts General Hospital at Harvard University, the doctor found unsettling results after testing digestion of the noodles. He used a tiny camera to study the breakdown of instant ramen noodles in the stomach and found out just how difficult it is for your body to digest the preservative-filled noodles. Warning: the photos are graphic. A preservative called TBHQ, which is found in many processed foods including Reese's and Chicken McNuggets, extends shelf life of fatty foods and makes them harder to digest. It's one of the many ingredients in Maruchan Chicken Ramen.

If you're hopelessly devoted to instant ramen (and it's a budget-friendly staple in your life), all hope is not lost. Dr. Frank B. Hu, a professor of nutrition and epidemiology at Harvard, told The New York Times, "Once or twice a month is not a problem, but a few times a week really is."

Moral of the story: eating college-friendly instant ramen is OK, but moderation is key.

Could This DIY Herbal Oil Thicken Your Mane and Stop Hair Loss After 1 Use?

This homemade herbal oil sounds too good to be true: it claims to stop hair loss and thicken strands after just one use. We found the recipe on Glowpink, and while there was not much info aside from how to create it and that it guarantees these results after a single treatment, we had to investigate!

First, let's take a look at the recipe:

Ingredients for one application:

1 fresh hibiscus flower
2-3 hibiscus leaves
3 tablespoon coconut oil
2 tablespoon mustard oil
2 tablespoon almond oil
A few curry leaves
1 tablespoon fenugreek seeds
1 medium-size onion
A few tulsi leaves

Process:

Chop the onion.
Take all petals of flower and crush it.
Add leaves and crush them.
Add curry leaves and crush them.
Mix all oils in given quantity in a pan.
Start flame, and add the onion.
Add crushed paste.
When oil starts to boil, add tulsi leaves and fenugreek seeds.
When seeds starts to pop up, turn off the flame.
Let it cool.
Apply this oil to your hair, and wait for at least 30 minutes before washing it off.

To get to the bottom of whether this works or not, we consulted Dr. Rachel Nazarian of Schweiger Dermatology Group via email. She confirmed this treatment does not fix hair loss, and here is why:

"There are many different etiologies for hair loss, and there s absolutely no one-stop cure. This recipe claiming to thicken hair and stop hair loss in one application is absolutely ridiculous. Even the greatest clinically proven treatments take several weeks to slow hair loss or thicken hair. The claim of 'thickening hair' can only be applied to new hair growth, as an old hair follicle can not be truly 'thickened.' The examples of hair-thickening agents that are available now are done with particles that adhere to the hair follicle, giving it the appearance of being thicker. Hair thickening takes a long time and requires you to evaluate the new hair growth.

"Additionally, hair loss happens after the hair follicle has remained in a stagnant point of the cycle for a period of time. Strands in this point of the hair growth cycle will eventually shed. There is no way to avoid this, especially with a one-time application of topical agents. Before you waste your time, and potentially exacerbate the reasons behind your hair loss, get a professional evaluation from your dermatologist. Anything guaranteeing they can stop hair shedding or reverse hair thinning in 30 minutes is bogus!"

The verdict: sure, you can try this at home to hydrate and condition your mane, but don't expect a drastic change aside from shinier strands.

Sansa Wasn't the Only One Weirded Out by That Awkward Game of Thrones Reunion

The following contains spoilers for Game of Thrones season seven.

If you were expecting a joyous reunion between other Stark siblings along the same lines as Jon and Sansa's emotional season six reconciliation, we have some bad news: Bran Stark's triumphant return to Winterfell on Game of Thrones is awkward as hell. When the only remaining true-born Stark son finally catches up with his eldest sister at their childhood home, there's a palpable weirdness between them. This is, of course, not for Sansa's lack of trying to catch up like normal siblings who've been separated for years . . . it's mostly because Bran behaves like an emotionless drone.

We get it, dude: you're the Three-Eyed Raven. But do you really have to act like a rock on Valium when your sister gives you a welcome-home hug? And what's with the whole "bringing up her traumatic sexual assault in casual conversation" thing?

Twitter, of course, didn't hold back when reacting to this long-awaited reunion. Luckily for the rest of us, Game of Thrones fans on social media have more enthusiasm than Bran . . . and a much better sense of humor than the one he seems to have lost completely beyond the Wall. Our only problem is that we can't pick a favorite out of these hilarious reactions below!

5 Skills - From Empathy to Manners - That Tech Might Be Eroding (and What to Do About It)

More often than not, we rely on new technologies to streamline and improve our daily lives. However, our friends at Common Sense Media have pointed out how new tech could be erasing life lessons our kids need to learn.

You started with the best intentions. Your kid needed a laptop for homework. Your tween needed a phone to text you after school. You wanted a Fitbit to lose a few extra pounds. But now, you look around and devices are plugged into every nook and cranny in your home. Everyone's staring, tapping, tracking. While you're grateful for things like Google Maps and Netflix that make your life easier and more fun, something feels off.

It's the basics that are missing: courtesy, conversation, being bored, and appreciating simple pleasures.

But all hope is not lost. You may have to take another look at how your family is using tech and make adjustments based on your values. But you can do it. Here are five ways tech has nibbled away at valuable life skills and experiences, and what you can do about it.

Home Assistants vs. Manners

If you are one of the millions of households in the United States with Alexa or Google Home, you may have noticed an unfortunate side effect of using the device: a lack of enforced courtesy. Kids (and adults) shout commands at the device: "Play Beyoncé!" or "What's the weather?!" The devices do not require a "please" or "thank you," and the more lifelike these devices become, the weirder it is to hear your child rudely demanding something from a humanlike voice.

What to do: Model the behavior you want to see. It might feel strange to say "please" to a machine, but if that's what you expect from your kid, you should do it too. It might help explain to kids that even though you know Alexa doesn't have feelings, using polite voices and words makes it nicer for the real people in the house who do have feelings. You can talk about how it can feel bad to be around someone who's yelling or angry, even if they're not yelling at you.

Phones vs. Respect for Elders

How many of us have witnessed a teacher, coach, or grandparent try to make conversation with kids who can't unglue their eyes from a screen? Of course it's only polite to put down your phone when anyone is talking to you, but it can be especially embarrassing for parents who were raised to defer to the older generation.

What to do: Make your expectations very clear. Talk to your kids about how important it is to use good manners when you're on your phone. Explain that it can be very difficult to put down your phone when you're in the middle of a game or chat, but you believe it's important to pay special respect to people like grandparents and elders. And of course, respect breeds respect, so put your phone down when your kid talks to you (unless it's about how much redstone they need to build a castle in Minecraft, in which case it's totally OK to ignore them!).

Internet vs. Value of Boredom

When a phone full of cute cat videos and funny memes is only a swipe away, it's easy to forget what it was like to be truly bored. But science tells us that boredom is actually useful -- for kids and adults. Not only can boredom lead to deep thinking, it can help kids practice perseverance, or pushing through uncomfortable moments without stimulation or distraction. And without boredom, kids might not take the time to explore their surroundings -- dig in the dirt, wonder how a house is built, bake cookies without a recipe -- and they might not stumble on something they really love to do.

What to do: Create opportunities for boredom by setting up times and places where devices are off-limits. And make sure kids have unstructured time -- even a little bit -- where they can roam the house or the neighborhood without a schedule. Keep a list of activities that kids say they like to do -- from drawing to hammering to bouncing a ball -- and point them toward it when they complain.

Activity Trackers vs. Activity for Its Own Sake

If you've ever taken a walk with someone who's trying to get steps, it can be hard to concentrate on the conversation while they're jogging in place, hopping up and down, and constantly checking their device. Activity trackers -- while useful for many -- tend to distract from the activity itself. And if we want kids to appreciate the beauty of their surroundings, the comfort of a meandering conversation, or even the rush of endorphins that can come with a strenuous walk, we need to emphasize the benefits of the activity, rather than the quantification of the actions.

What to do:

First, don't buy your kid an activity tracker unless they need it for a specific reason. Second, engage in lots of outdoor activity and fun exercise, and comment on how good it feels. And last, model the behavior and values you want to see in your kid -- even if you're tracking your steps, wait until the walk is over to check your progress, for example.

Devices vs. Empathy

The mere presence of a phone on the table between two people having a discussion has been shown to decrease feelings of empathy. Whether this is because the phone owner is distracted by the possibility of an incoming message or the promise of something more interesting on the device is unclear. But it makes sense that if someone isn't giving you their full attention, they're less likely to understand or empathize with you, and ultimately that can affect the quality of the relationship.

What to do: Prioritize face-to-face conversation over devices by putting phones and tablets out of site during meals. Recognize your thought pattern during conversations, and if you find yourself wondering about a missed call or guessing how many people liked your most recent Instagram post, refocus your concentration on your friend, spouse, or kid. And acknowledge how difficult digital distraction can be to manage yourself so that your kids understand that you think it's an important challenge to wrestle with.

Overlooking This Tiny Detail on a Sunscreen Bottle Causes Major Skin Burns

It's 2017, and by now, we're well aware of the risks of tanning. We know to apply sunscreen every two hours, we know to put it on for all outdoor activities, and we know how important it is to apply even when it's cloudy. But what about expired sunscreen? What happens if we're following all the sun protection rules, but still manage to get a horrible sunburn because of an old bottle of sunscreen? I fell victim to a sunscreen expiration date, and now, it's the first thing I check before applying SPF.

I was a teenager on a family vacation in Delray Beach, FL, and literally all I wanted was to go back to middle school with a bomb tan. It was 2006, a pre-Instagram era - and since I couldn't show off my vacation with a bikini selfie, I needed to come into school with a tan to prove I'd been away. As someone with naturally olive-toned skin, this wasn't difficult. I have always bronzed easily, and if I burned, I thought it would just "turn to tan." It's ironic because it was on this Spring break trip that I burned, and it most definitely did not turn to tan.

I listened to my parents' nagging, I put on sunscreen and followed all the rules, and then I baked. About two and a half hours later, I woke up from my Nelly and Bow Wow-induced nap and was seriously burnt. I mean, the back of my classic white iPod must've been over 100 degrees and that's how my whole body felt. It was painful. How could I have gotten so sunburned when I actually put on sunscreen? Long story short, the sunscreen had recently expired and most definitely should not have been used.

While most sunscreens are said to last at original strength for up to three years, it's the consistency of the lotion that matters most. According to Michele J Farber, MD FAAD of Schweiger Dermatology Group, "You can tell if sunscreen has gone bad if the contents start to separate. This means it may look different than it did originally; typically the color is different or the texture is not as even."

But, "If the sunscreen is intact (not separated) but expired, it most probably will be just as effective for sun protection as it was before the expiration date," added Dr. Neal Schultz, New York City dermatologist, host of DermTV.com, and creator of BeautyRx by Dr. Schultz.

The sunscreen that I used and suffered burns from came out of the tube looking melted and unquestionably "separated." Because sunscreen bottles are laying out with you in the heat or being stored in your car, the ingredients can break down and become less potent. As for which sunscreens last longest, Dr. Farber said, "Physical blockers like zinc oxide or titanium dioxide are less sensitive to break down than chemical blockers, especially when in the hot Summer heat."

My reaction to separated, expired sunscreen was horrible peeling all over my body that left me looking like a brown paper bag for a week, an absurd amount of aloe products purchased, and unfortunately, a ruined vacation. However, the silver lining is that I learned my lesson and I hope no one makes the same mistake I did.

It is so important to check the expiration date and make sure to look at the consistency before applying your sunscreen.

Ina Garten's NYC Home Is For Sale – and the Kitchen Is Not What You're Expecting

Barefoot Contessa star Ina Garten listed the elegantly appointed New York City apartment she shared with her husband, academic Jeffrey Garten, for $1.975 million in March, Variety reports. The couple purchased the Upper East Side apartment for $1.4 million in 2004 as a two-bedroom apartment, before hiring celebrity interior designer Daniel Romualdex to update it into a spacious one-bedroom. The property features a sunken living room with soaring ceilings and large leaded glass windows, his and her closets in the master bedroom, and a single - but luxuriously outfitted - bathroom; unfortunately, you have to walk through the bedroom to reach it. Food Network fans will be surprised to see how modest the home's galley kitchen is. But what it lacks in size, it makes up for in smart design, with its open shelving and long stretches of counter space. The couple upgraded to a $4.65 million two-bedroom apartment in the same neighborhood last year. Get up close and personal with Ina's old space ahead.

7 Shopping Secrets Straight From an Aldi Employee

Aldi grocery stores may be famous for their exceptionally low price points, but we're finding out that there's a lot more to the company than just a solid deal on bananas! One employee revealed tons of secrets about the grocery store and what it's like to work at Aldi in a Reddit AMA, and we're truly intrigued. During the "Ask Me Anything" conversation, the employee spilled the details on how "fresh" the produce is, why the cashiers are always sitting, and those delicious knockoff Girl Scout Cookies. Read on for all of the juicy Aldi shopping secrets, straight from an employee.

There's a weekly deal called Special Buys.

One Irish Reddit user wondered if they featured a weekly special product like they do at the stores in Ireland, which is often a really random product, like "skiing gear or a chainsaw," and the employee said yes. "It's called Special Buys," they shared about the weekly deals. "We just got a bunch of gardening things in yesterday!" So good to know!

They have amazing coffee!

The employee shared that coffee is their favorite thing to buy at Aldi. "We have amazing coffee," they shared. "My favorite is the Honduras and Peru whole bean (single source, organic, and fair trade) and the regular fair trade medium roast. The chocolate (choceur) is better than almost any common brand you can find. Almost everything there is truly comparable to national brands. It's not just a line. There is a very short list of things I don't like." They also sell great K-Cups for Keurig users.

Why do the cashiers always sit?

One curious Reddit user asked why the cashiers are always sitting, and it has absolutely nothing to do with laziness. "The register chairs are a German thing. I'm not 100% sure why. But I like to think we sit because we bust our asses cleaning and stocking when we aren't ringing."

The knockoff Girl Scout Cookies are delicious.

Someone asked why the near-identical Girl Scout Cookies weren't available in all stores, and the employee shared their incredibly impressive self-control when it comes to the cookies. "They are pretty amazing," the employee said about the cookies. "I don't allow myself to buy them often, though. I'll eat the whole thing by myself in like a day or two."

No, you can't get a discount on squished boxes.

Apparently, it's a running joke between shoppers that no one can ever find baking soda in Aldi stores, but we have an answer! "Baking aisle, top shelf," the employee shared, revealing a tip that might be a letdown to some customers. "No, you can't get a discount on the squished boxes."

Hiring is very competitive.

Yup! When someone asked if their experience at Walmart would help in the application process at Aldi, the employee said yes and opened up about the great number of applicants. "A lot of district managers like to hire people with former management experience (that's part of why I got hired)," they shared. "All experience matters of course, so grocery experience is definitely on your side. My store (not in a very large city) receives several hundred applications a year. Two people were hired in my store in the last 12 months. . . I was one of them. It's a tough job. Everyone does everything, including 6am truck shifts. Keeping the store clean and stocked is a constant struggle when it gets as busy as it does, and when there are only 2-3 working at a time. . . well, you can imagine. That's why it's nice to sit while we ring."

Produce is exceptionally fresh.

With such low prices, many shoppers wonder how "fresh" the produce really is, and the employee reassured the curious Reddit users that even though the produce is less expensive than other grocery stores, it's great quality. "We get produce deliveries every morning," they shared. "The turn around is very fast, so we don't have much waste. We just don't over-order, I guess. It's more typical that we are all out of broccoli by the time we close than it is that we have several extra cases that just end up in the trash." At this employee's location, local restaurant employees will even come in to purchase produce. "We often have local restaurants come in to buy produce to hold them over until deliveries come in. They have mentioned that it's cheaper than their wholesalers. I don't have actual numbers, but bananas and lettuce are big sellers in that area."

But if you're still wondering why shoppers are required to purchase a cart for a quarter, check out more Aldi secrets from another candid employee.

40+ Recipes That Make Feeding a Crowd a Breeze

Cooking for a crowd, be it a large family gathering or a dinner party, can be a bit of a challenge. Most recipes are scaled to yield four to six servings, and while many can be doubled with some basic math, it's certainly nice to have a handful of options that can be made as is. Here, we've rounded up more than 40 recipes that serve at least eight, including a variety of casseroles, soups, and slow-cooker dishes.

Ina Garten Swears by This 6-Ingredient Salad

Shocker: I'm in love with another recipe by Ina Garten, aka The Barefoot Contessa. This time, it's her sweet and salty, crispy and creamy Cape Cod Chopped Salad, which just so happens to have a five-star rating. Before you turn away at the thought of eating greens, hear me out. It's full of tart apples, dried cranberries, toasted walnuts, blue cheese, and, oh yes, crispy bacon. Perfect for lunch or as an accompaniment to another one of her all-American recipes, like spicy tomato soup with grilled cheese croutons, this arugula salad is so good, you'll forget kale ever existed. The dish is packed with tasty contrasts. The flavors and textures work together to create a salad that definitely isn't healthy but certainly is delicious. Plus, you get to throw the ingredients together as the smell of browning bacon wafts through your kitchen. The elements are brought together by a simple dressing that's absolutely worth making from scratch - after all, wouldn't you do anything to eat a salad that doesn't qualify as a sad desk lunch?

Kendall Jenner's Sheer Top Will Make Even the Most Composed Person Blush

Kendall Jenner's the queen of going braless, and we fully support it. The model stepped out in New York City wearing Beck & Bridge's French Kiss shirt with jeans, Alezan by SK rings, and white Stuart Weitzman booties. She chose not to wear a bra (or bralette) under her printed red top, which was held together by two buttons, and instead freed the nip, as she has on several occasions. It was a bold and personal choice, one that probably made plenty of fans stop and stare . . . us included.

We don't blame Kendall for ditching the bra though, given the Summer heat. It was an easy way to stay cool and feel comfortable. Before you read on to see her outfit, however, keep in mind the look is definitely NSFW. But if you're feeling inspired to add some sexiness to your after-5 p.m. attire, we included some shopping picks below.

These Are the 15 Movies From the '90s That You Need to Watch With Your Kids

Growing up in the '90s was the best of both worlds: I had epic '80s movies to play over and over again, and I got to live through 10 years of amazing film releases, many of which have stuck with me my whole life (and are still on constant rotation).

I spent half of 1997 begging my mom to buy me the Heart of the Ocean necklace, the better part of the late '90s trying to re-create "The Blob" with my camp friends (to no avail and with only minor injuries), and most of the decade singing "Dude (Looks Like a Lady)," "My Girl," and "We Are the Champions" at the top of my lungs. It was an exciting time to be alive, and though your children may never know what it was like to wait for a VHS tape to rewind (torture), these films need to be on a must-watch list so they can get a proper education of '90s culture.

Prince Philip Missed Charles's Birth, and 11 More Things You Didn't Know About Him

Prince Philip officially retired from royal duties this week. The 96-year-old leaves behind quite a legacy of appearances, engagements, and yes, a few controversies; he's become well-known over the years for his off-the-cuff remarks and sometimes insensitive gaffes, but he still remains a charming and gregarious presence. Philip is quite literally the queen's right-hand man, staying by her side at hundreds of events for royal charities while also enjoying personal hobbies like carriage racing and oil painting. Here are 12 things you may not have known about him.

  1. He was a prince before he married Elizabeth II. Philip was born Prince Philip of Greece and Denmark on the Greek island of Corfu on June 10, 1921. He had to renounce his Greek and Danish titles upon marrying then-Princess Elizabeth in 1947, which is also when he became Duke of Edinburgh and was given the style of His Royal Highness. The queen officially made him a British prince in 1957.
  2. Despite his lineage, his early upbringing was pretty rough. Philip was the only son and fifth and last child of Prince Andrew of Greece and Denmark and Princess Alice of Battenberg. His family was exiled from Greece during the Greco-Turk war when he was an infant - he was carried to safety in a cot made from a fruit box - and they ended up settling in Paris. He got his education in the UK, during which time all four of his older sisters moved away and married German noblemen, his mother was diagnosed with schizophrenia and placed in an asylum, and his father moved to Monaco.
  3. He was an accomplished naval officer. Philip joined the Royal Navy in 1939 and quickly became the best cadet in his course. He fought in World War II (against two of his German brothers-in-law!) as well as the Battle of Crete and was promoted to lieutenant in 1942.
  4. He chose his own surname. Though he belonged to the house of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg (try saying that three times fast), Philip didn't have an official last name. He needed one in order to join the Royal Navy, so he went with Mountbatten, a variation of his mother's maiden name, Battenburg.
  5. He is related to Queen Elizabeth II. The two actually share the same great-great-grandparents, Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, making them third cousins. Oddly enough, Queen Victoria and Prince Albert were first cousins themselves.

  1. He wasn't exactly welcomed into the royal family at first. Because of his lack of money and family ties, his foreigner status, and his Greek Orthodox religion, Philip wasn't a choice contender for Elizabeth. For the most part, he was dismissed him as "a German" and the queen mother reportedly referred to him as "the Hun." Many of the king's advisors didn't think he was good enough for the princess.
  2. He delivered the news of King George VI's death to Elizabeth. During a royal tour stop in Kenya, Philip was "roused from a nap" by friend Michael Parker with the news that the king had passed away. Michael recalled that Philip looked "as if half the world had fallen on him." He then delivered the sad news to Elizabeth, who was to officially become queen.
  3. He missed Prince Charles's birth. Philip tried to shake off the nerves of becoming a first-time parent during Elizabeth's 30-hour labor by playing squash with Michael Parker and going for a swim at Buckingham Palace. As he was toweling himself off, a footman came in to tell him that Elizabeth had delivered their son. Don't worry: he brought her a bottle of Champagne and her favorite flowers, carnations.
  4. He has his own award. In 1956, Philip helped found the Duke of Edinburgh's Award, which honors young people who complete a series of self-improvement exercises based on philosopher Kurt Hahn's antidote to the six declines of modern youth.
  5. He is the longest-lived male member of the British royal family. At 96, Philip is also the longest-living male descendant of Queen Victoria and the world's longest-serving consort (companion or spouse of a reigning monarch).
  6. He gave up his polo habit for carriage driving. The prince played polo until 1971, when he developed a love for the sport of carriage driving. He even helped draft the early rule book. Philip is also said to enjoy oil painting, a hobby he picked up while on the advice of English artist Edward Seago.
  7. He also gave up his smoking habit. Cold turkey, in fact. After Elizabeth expressed concern because of how her father died (from lung cancer), Philip quit smoking the morning of their wedding.

How to Find Your Own Bra Size Right at Home

Despite what you might have heard, girl you do not have to go to the store to get fitted for a bra. You can find your true number right at home using a simple strip of measuring tape. We tapped lingerie pro Jenny Altman of I Love A Good and Soma to break down the ridiculously easy steps. Below, you'll find a fast, simple guide to uncovering your number, along with a video of Jenny breaking down the process. Now all you've got to do is go out and buy yourself a bra - then learn the proper way to care for it.

Step 1:

Put on a good bra, nothing with padding or compression. Grab your measuring tape (not a metal one) and stand before your mirror. (Take a deep breath and remember nobody else can see this!) Wrap the measuring tape firmly around your rib cage, just around your bra band, and make sure it's parallel to the floor all the way around. This helps to determine your band size. Round up to the nearest even number of inches to arrive at measurement A.

Step 2:

Shimmy your measuring tape up a few inches. You want it to be around your body at the fullest point of your breasts, again making sure the tape is parallel to the floor all the way around. Round up to the nearest number of inches. This is to determine your cup size, or measurement B.

Step 3:

Take measurement A and subtract it from measurement B. For example, let's say measurement A is 34, and measurement B is 38. 38-34=4. Then, apply that number to this scale to determine your cup size: 1=A, 2=B, 3=C, 4=D, 5=DD/E, 6=F, and so on. The cup size for our example would be D. If you want the math done for you, try Soma's bra fit calculator.

Step 4:

Put your two numbers together. In this case, our bra size would be 34D.
Now that you have your number, you're done with an at-home fitting. Keep in mind that this number/cup size is just your starting point. Just like with jeans, different brands and styles will not fit the same.

Every Time You Pee, Do These 3 Things to Help You Lose Weight

Quick fixes usually don't cut it when it comes to losing weight and getting toned, but this one-minute trick actually works! Take into consideration this little fact: the average woman pees six to eight times in a 24-hour period, so that's about five to seven times while you're awake. And if you have issues with your bladder (thank you, pregnancy!) or you drink a ton of water each day, your ladies' room visits are more like 10 times a day.

So this means you have six to 10 opportunities to fit in a little fitness. Every time you hit the bathroom, whether it's to pee or touch up your lipstick, do the workout below that should take about one minute.

The Workout: Complete once
10 push-ups (lower the knees if you need to)
10 squats
10 alternating forward lunges (five per side)

If you're using a public bathroom, do not get on the floor to do your push-ups! Just lean your hands on the counter, then after your lunges, you can wash your hands. Maybe you can even get some of your co-workers to do it with you! If the bathroom you're using is so public that you feel weird doing this mini workout in front of anyone, find a spot somewhere else where you can pump out this one-minute bodyweight workout without feeling self-conscious. But do it immediately after leaving the bathroom. If you wait, you're more likely to forget.

So let's say you use the bathroom six times in a day. That adds up to 60 push-ups, 60 squats, and 60 alternating lunges. That's a pretty decent workout for not hitting the gym, because remember - every minute of exercise counts!

The "Oh Sh*t" Moment That Made Courteney Cox Completely Revamp Her Antiaging Routine

Aging in the limelight is undoubtedly a challenge for many celebrities, especially when every turned corner presents a camera capable of zooming in on each pore, wrinkle, and slight blemish. For Courteney Cox, dealing with the Hollywood pressure to constantly appear youthful was a struggle that moved her to undergo various facial injections through the years. Now 53 years old, the former Friends star has chosen to ditch those antiaging methods and go all natural - but it was quite the journey to get to where she is today.

In a recent interview with New Beauty, the actress opened up about the face-enhancing injections she formerly received and exactly what made her stop getting them. It all started with one doctor's appointment and soon blossomed into a habit of sorts.

"Well, what would end up happening is that you go to a doctor who would say, 'You look great, but what would help is a little injection here or filler there,'" she told New Beauty. Then other people started telling her about other doctors who made their patients look "so natural," and before she knew it, the injections were "layered and layered and layered" over time. "You have no idea because it's gradual until you go, 'Oh sh*t, this doesn't look right,'" she said.

Even though she admitted that "photographs do show up worse" than what one actually looks like in person, she realized that enough was enough, especially once a friend advised her to stop using the enhancing injections.

"I was trying so hard to keep up, and that actually made things worse. Now, I'm as natural as I can be." She went on to explain how all of her fillers have since "dissolved" and also opened up about how she expects her skin to "drop" in the coming years - and that's perfectly OK.

"I've had all my fillers dissolved. I'm as natural as I can be. I feel better because I look like myself. I think that I now look more like the person that I was. I hope I do. Things are going to change. Everything's going to drop. I was trying to make it not drop, but that made me look fake. You need movement in your face, especially if you have thin skin like I do. Those aren't wrinkles - they're smile lines. I've had to learn to embrace movement and realize that fillers are not my friend."

We're loving Courteney's newfound all-natural approach to beauty. And it looks like we've found our new favorite phrase for wrinkles: smile lines!

Are You Doing It Right? 5 Ways to Tell If You’re Succeeding at Your New Job

Starting a new job is usually an exciting time with the anticipation that your new gig will be a perfect match, and will allow you to cultivate and sharpen your skills while making a positive contribution to the company. At the same time, it can be very stressful, especially within the first three months when you are literally on trial and don't know if you will make it to the other side of your probationary period. With different management styles, it is a challenge for people to figure out whether they are doing a good job or not. The following are five ways to tell if you are doing well at your new job:

1. You Have Greater Ownership Over Your Work

Obviously, you were hired to do a specific job, and if someone else has to do it for you, why do they need you? Truth be told, when you are just starting out, there will be a lot of hand-holding as you get acclimated to your new role. Your direct supervisor is going to offer you a lot of guidance to make sure that you are on the right track. But as you get better at your role and your team starts to trust you, they will more often give you the ball to run with. This is a great sign and shows that you are doing well at your new job. The sooner the hand-holding stops, the better you are doing. The hope is that the hand-holding stops closer to your first month than to your third month, because if it takes 90 days for your team to trust you, then Houston, we have a problem.

2. You Are Being Given More Responsibility

Another sign that you're doing great at your new job is when you are given responsibility beyond your current role. It's one thing to get your management team to trust you with your role, but once they start trusting you with projects that are beyond the scope of what you were hired for, you know that you are doing pretty awesome. Some may look at this as unfavorable; however, a little more work won't hurt anyone, and if it is a place where you are looking for longevity, the more areas that you make yourself valuable, the better.

3. Your Colleagues Rely on Your Opinion/Expertise

They say opinions are like Facebook pages because everyone has them. But in the workplace, valued opinions are few and far between. When you start being the go-to person for your opinion and expertise, this is a good indication that you are doing spectacular at your job. It's one thing to be trusted with your own duties or given extra responsibility, but when that graduates to people trusting you with what they are responsible for, then you are closer to becoming a permanent team member. Establishing yourself as a trusted resource doesn't come easy, especially when you are new. So if it starts to happen, be sure to take it as sign that you are doing things right.

4. You're Asked to Represent Your Company

First you are being trusted with your own work, then you are given extra responsibility, and after that people trust your expertise and opinion. But when your company starts to ask you to represent them in public, it's clear that you are well on your way to becoming a permanent team member. This is a big deal, because when you first start out, the mistakes that you make internally stay within the company, so most new employees are never given the opportunity to go out and publicly represent their employers. But when you are sent on speaking engagements to talk on behalf of your employer, if you are asked to head up a meeting with external partners, or when press opportunities arise that you're asked to fulfill, you are given the leeway to relay the company's message to the masses. This is the holy grail of trust and comfort with your higher-ups.

5. Your Boss Is Starting to Lean on You More

"Can you handle this for me?" are the six most important words you can hear from your boss as an employee, let alone a new employee. What the boss is responsible for is not only important for the company but also for their reputation. When you are being trusted to handle things on behalf of the boss, you know that you are there to stay. Being the first that he/she turns to, being mentioned as the alternative contact in out-of-office messages, and/or being told "You got this, I trust you" is the ultimate grand prize of awesomeness at the workplace! You are officially an asset!

You Need to See These Photos If Your Child Sits in a Car Seat

An awful car crash in Tacoma, WA, could have ended in serious tragedy last week, but due to proper car seat installation, two children - and their mom - are doing so much better than the photos suggest.

Kylee Barrett was taking her 5-year-old son, Kolton, to school one morning with her 2-year-old, Hunter, also in tow when the car hit a patch of black ice. As the car slid, Barrett swerved to avoid hitting another car head-on, which forced them into a tree that crushed Hunter's side of the car. The impact caused the seat to bend but absorb the force, which kept Hunter safe even though the car flipped upside down.

Had Hunter's rear-facing Safety 1st seat not been properly installed, this family could be dealing with much more than a totaled car, Hunter's broken left femur, and a few bruises and scrapes. Facebook user Heather Viers is using the photo of Hunter's crushed seat to spread the word about proper car seat use: "This specific seat retails for $100. It's NOT a 'nice' seat, but it further illustrates the point that you don't have to spend a fortune to keep your child safe. Get your car seats checked by a CPST. Use it properly every.single.time. The life of your child relies on it."

Barrett has started a GoFundMe page to help with some of the costs that insurance isn't covering but is mostly focused on sharing her story to inform other parents. She says even though she's sore and bruised, her kids are still here to drive her crazy, and she "couldn't be happier."

If you own a car and a car seat, you need to read through and see these photos for yourself.

1 Life-Changing Airplane Hack From Someone Who Flies First Class Often

If you're going to take airplane travel advice from anyone, you should to take it from someone who flies first class frequently. A multimillionaire app developer recently shared his clever (and surprisingly affordable) airplane hack for securing an entire three seat row to himself:

Fly first class? No need. When I fly alone, I just book an economy class ticket in the center of a three seat row. Usually this means that in a not so full flight, nobody will want to sit next to you when they can sit somewhere else. If it's a couple, they wouldn't want to be separated. When checking in, you can try to change your seat, and you can tell from there, where the empty seats are. Now that you have the whole row to yourself, you can lift up the armrests and basically have a giant couch that is wider than what first class and business class gets.

Yup, it really is that simple. Another pro tip straight from a POPSUGAR editor: "Get the aisle and window if you're flying with someone. Middle seats are often left empty because no one wants them." So there you have it. No more stressing about sitting next to the guy or gal who snores too loud. Now go forth and book your airline tickets!

What's Better Than 1 Noomi Rapace? Watch the What Happened to Monday Trailer and Find Out

For any Orphan Black fans mourning the sci-fi drama's final season, Netflix is here to help. The streaming network has another inventive futuristic feature film in the works titled What Happened to Monday, starring Noomi Rapace, Willem Dafoe, and Glenn Close. If the cast alone isn't enough to convince you to watch it (it was for me, to be honest), then you'll be happy to know that Rapace stars as identical septuplets - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday - who must live in hiding in a world where families are limited to one child due to overpopulation.

Their father (Dafoe) allows them out of the house only on the day corresponding with their name, so they maintain only one public identity. The government picks up on the scam, however, and when Monday doesn't return home after her day out, her sisters have to band together to save her. Watch the trailer above, and catch it when it hits Netflix on Aug. 18.

Well, William was born on June 21, 1982 at exactly 9:03 p.m., which makes him 35 years old. I'm Hopelessly Addicted to Magnetic False Lashes (and Never Turning Back)

Guys, we need to have a talk about magnetic lash extensions. And by "a talk," I mean that I need to tell you how they're a f*cking godsend. I use them most times I wear makeup; basically, if you see me post a selfie anywhere, I'm probably wearing a pair of my magnetic falsies. I keep a pack of the lashes at my desk at work, I care for mine religiously at home, and I estimate that I've convinced at least 15 friends to buy their own pair. Considering the fact that many salons charge between $100 and $200 for lash extension treatments that only last a month, I feel obligated to share my experience with these reusable, easy-to-wear lash boosters. I've become something of a magnetic lash disciple.

Basically, if you see me post a selfie anywhere, I'm probably wearing a pair of my magnetic falsies.

When the producer of my weekly POPSUGAR Snapchat series, First Impression Friday, told me that I'd be trying magnetic eyelash extensions, I was nervous; I'd never even heard of magnetic lashes, let alone whether they were safe to use! But to make a long story short, the magnetic lash extensions from One Two Cosmetics ended up being my favorite product ever tested on First Impression Friday in over a year of shooting the Snap series - and I refused to part with them after we wrapped. I brought home the package of magnetic lashes and proceeded to wear them every single day for two weeks.

Like any self-respecting millennial, I took to social media to spread the word about the magnetic lashes, posting a blurb about them on my Instagram story. I received TONS of questions from friends and followers about the lashes, so I figured this review might be a good place to answer them! Read on for images of the lashes in action and answers to all the questions I've been asked since I began wearing the magnetic lash extensions.

Despite the couple's up-and-down romance, one thing definitely hasn't changed: their sons are freaking adorable. They're also parents to Noah, Bodhi, and Kassius, Brian's son from a previous relationship, and while they don't share too many family snaps on Instagram, the ones they do will definitely make you say, "Awww!"
