The 1 Thing You Should Try Adding to Your Scrambled Eggs
Some people add milk to their scrambled eggs, some prefer heavy cream, and some scramble them in bacon fat. Even if you think you've tried it all, there's one sneaky ingredient you might not have added before, and that's worcestershire sauce. I found this idea in a Facebook comment on our post about how chefs scramble eggs, and I knew I wanted to try it myself because I'm a huge fan of the incredibly savory condiment. The sauce, which is typically used for steak and Bloody Marys, is made of anchovies (yes, really), garlic, vinegar, molasses, salt, onions, chili peppers, and other spices.
So how does it taste in scrambled eggs? It's interesting, but in a good way - I totally approve. I recommend adding 1/4 teaspoon of worcestershire sauce per two eggs and whisking everything together well before cooking your eggs low and slow. The sauce is already really salty, so you don't need to add any more salt. The eggs develop a slightly tangy, smoky, umami-rich flavor that's unlike any scrambled egg I've had before. If you have worcestershire sauce on hand anyway, give this a try. It just might become your favorite scrambled eggs recipe.

4 Tactics That Will Make You a Better Side Hustler
Out of all the characteristics assigned to millennials by researchers and writers of think pieces, one millennial attitude about work prevails: we loathe the 9-to-5 grind and we're more inclined than our parents' generation to take the leap into self-employment.
Like a true millennial, I recently left my full-time job at an advertising agency to start my own business as a freelance writer. Before I made the change, I devoured every available piece of advice on setting up a business. I took classes with established writers and set goals for my new venture. But I also came into my self-employed situation with an arsenal of knowledge that I picked up from years spent working at advertising agencies.
Before we go on, scrub the image of Don Draper from your mind. Agencies are not (usually) the bourbon-soaked boys' clubs you might imagine thanks to Mad Men (although most still have a ways to go in terms of gender equality and diversity). In fact, an ad agency is an inherently entrepreneurial environment: from courting prospective clients to setting up billing schedules, I formed good work habits as an agency employee that serve me well as a freelancer.
Thinking of going solo or starting your side hustle? Pick up a few tips and tricks from the ad world.
1. When the work doesn't come to you, you must find the work.
The agency climate can be volatile. Clients come and go; work ebbs and flows. Every employee feels the pinch if a major client drops the agency, and layoffs are not uncommon. Multiply that pressure by about a thousand when you leave the agency and suddenly you're responsible for booking all your own work.
In a previous job, one of my roles was to help generate new business for the company. This included anything from presenting during in-person pitches to writing RFP responses. If you're a freelancer hoping to attract your first client, take a cue from the agency world and work all angles. Cold email introductions can lead to work, but you're better off reaching out to contacts within your own network. Get comfortable with your elevator pitch; hone your ability to explain what you offer as compellingly and succinctly as possible.
As someone who always found the concept of networking loathsome, self-employment has shifted my perspective. I think of networking now as an opportunity to meet interesting people and learn about their businesses. Your prospective clients want to know that you're interested in what they do and not solely out to promote your own services.
2. Time is money.
It's one of the biggest day-to-day gripes at an agency: time sheets. Salaried or not, most agency employees fill out daily time sheets and bill their time to specific client projects in increments as small as six minutes. It can be a pain to keep such meticulous track of your time, but as a freelancer, my time tracking skills have been a godsend. Even before I was freelancing full-time, I started using an online time tracking system to keep track of my side work. There are lots of good free time trackers available.
Tracking your time promotes accountability (it's amazing how I'm capable of being on my laptop all day and only coming up with three hours of actual work), and it also keeps you on the pulse of each project. For example, if you have a gig that pays a flat rate of $1,000 that you estimate you'll finish in 20 hours, that means you'll effectively earn $50 an hour. But let's say the project takes more time than expected, and as you log your time, you see that it took you 50 hours - decimating your rate to just $20 an hour. Next time, you'll know to charge a higher rate for a similar project since you have a better understanding of the project's scope.
3. You are your own admin, and administrative time adds up.
Most ad agencies have an internal job in their time tracking systems for administrative time. This is a bucket for logging work that's not connected to a client but still eats up precious time during your day: filling out HR paperwork, catching up on emails, and other miscellaneous tasks that don't directly serve a client but serve the business.
As a freelancer, I spend hours each week on admin time: invoicing clients, reviewing contracts and freelancer agreements, and keeping track of receipts in anticipation of tax time. When you're a salaried employee, this time doesn't seem like such a big deal; when you're self-employed, it's time you could be using to work on paid projects.
True to my agency roots, I set up a job for "admin" tasks in my time tracking system and I "bill" time to that job for administrative work and the time I spend keeping up on industry news and attending classes or networking events. It may not be time that I'm earning money, but it's still time that contributes to my bottom line and the value I offer my clients. Clocking a few hours of admin time each week is inevitable for most freelancers, but it helps to think of yourself as your own client and view that time as an investment rather than a loss.
4. Always know your value.
Situation: A prospective new client is interested in your freelance services. She wants to know what you'd charge for her project. Great! But wait, what do you charge?
Many new freelancers - especially writers - are perplexed when it comes time to name a price. It's nearly impossible to guess how long a project will take if you don't already have a point of reference for a similar project (see tip No. 2 on time tracking). And what's a fair rate? Should you charge by the hour, or charge a flat rate by project? There's no universal answer, but you can start by determining your own minimum rate based on what you need to earn in order to keep the lights on. Don't accept work that pays less than your minimum rate - it devalues your skills, and you're better off waiting for the right project or client.
3 Major Differences Between HomeGoods and Its Spinoff Store, HomeSense
HomeGoods, the affordable decor store with a cult following, has had fans in a frenzy since its announcement this Winter that it would be launching a spinoff store called HomeSense. Details have been spare, but we now know that the first store will open in Framingham, MA, hometown of parent company TJX Co (which also owns Marshalls and T.J.Maxx), on Aug. 17. And we have specifics on how HomeSense will differ from HomeGoods. Check out the three major differences below.
It Stocks More Furniture and Big Design Items
People reports that, like HomeGoods, HomeSense will focus on home items. But, while HomeGoods offers predominantly decor, HomeSense will offer an expanded selection of bigger items, including furniture, light fixtures, art, and even game tables.
There's a "General Store"
There will be a "General Store" People says. It will focus on practical essentials, like cleaning items, home-improvement supplies, and organization pieces, such as storage lockers, hardware, and cubbies.
The Layout Is Completely Different
While HomeGoods divides items into aisles by item kind, there isn't any ambiance and the store often feels like a giant catch-all of designer goodies and unique treasures. HomeSense, however, wants to feel like an actual home. In a press release, it was revealed that the store will be thoughtfully laid out to imitate the way items are arranged in real life, with products featured in styled vignettes, such as art displayed on a gallery wall. The idea is to inspire shoppers.

Kate and Will's Sweetest PDA Happens When They're Not Facing the Cameras
Prince William and Kate Middleton don't show PDA often, but when they do, it's superadorable. Aside from cozying up during sporting events, there is one thing that Will does when they're not facing the cameras that is especially sweet - he touches Kate's back. Whether he's helping his wife down the steps, or he's pulling her in for a hug, we can't get enough of the pair's "touching" moments. And he's not the only royal with a signature move. Kate has her own way of showing off her love for Will. See their discrete PDA below.
A Pregnant Guide to Starbucks and Caffeine Intake
While some women feel more energetic during pregnancy, some (read: many) women may still need that little boost from their daily cup of joe - or maybe coffee is a luxury in their daily routine that they're not willing to give up just because of their pregnancy. Consuming caffeine while pregnant isn't completely off-limits, but it is recommended that you consume less than 200 milligrams of caffeine per day - and yes, decaf does include a few milligrams - while a tiny human is sharing your body with you.
So what does this mean for your vanilla latte obsession? Check out our handy guide ahead to find out how to keep filling the blank space on that Starbucks cup with your name throughout your pregnancy.

Why You Actually Do Not Want to Wear BB Cream - Ever Again!
Do you even know what you are asking for? Have you actually taken a second to look in the mirror recently to look at your skin with this so-called "beauty balm" on it? If you had, you would notice that the skin on your face looks like the Sahara desert and you would not be back here asking for more of this hellish product.
As a working makeup artist, at least once a day, a client will say to me "I don't want a foundation - I just want a BB cream." Without fail, the same conversation will follow this announcement:
"Oh, OK, so you would like something oil-free?" I answer while I look at this poor woman's dry, flaky skin.
"Absolutely not! I have dry skin!" she will exclaim in horror.
"OK, so you like something with a heavy coverage." I try again.
"No! I don't like anything heavy," she will explain.
"OK, so you just want something that is matte?" I will ask calmly.
"No. I think I like to look a little dewy," she will answer.
A BB cream is in fact a foundation.
And we are back to square one. I will then explain to her that a BB cream is in fact a foundation. It can be used as a primer under a foundation or as an actual foundation. Either way, it serves to provide moderate to heavy coverage and is meant to be applied all over the face to even out skin tone and hide imperfections, as most traditional foundations do.
It is all quite confusing because "BB" stands for "beauty balm" in the Western world, when in fact this product very rarely helps anyone to look beautiful. Instead, everyone wearing it generally walks around with pale skin that looks like sandpaper.
Whoever came up with the marketing scheme that is the BB cream is a genius. He or she has convinced women across the globe that this is the product for them. Hidden behind the promise of a high level of SPF, there lies a product that is meant to provide heavy matte coverage leaving skin lifeless, dull, and without an ounce of color.
This is not a look or feel that suits most women's skin. Yet, many of you - even after you look in the mirror and see a lackluster face staring back at you and touch your skin and notice that it feels like an alligator - you actually come back to the store and ask again for a BB cream!
It is at this point that I break the news. A BB cream is not for you. It is not for any person, really, unless they are extremely oily and acne-prone.
A big reason American women have been so enticed by this product is that it promises to be an "all-in-one." It provides high levels of SPF, moisturizer, serum, primer, and foundation all in one swipe. To Americans, who are generally rushing in the morning and have very limited time for proper skin care, this sounds delightful.
Alas, like everything else in life, slow and steady wins the race. It is to our benefit to find the time to moisturize and prime our skin before our makeup.
For those of us that claim to "not have enough time" for skin care and primer in the morning, perhaps we can take a closer look at what we do "have time" for. I, for one, have time to watch the weather at least three times on the Today show while I sip my coffee. I also usually find time to check my email and look at Facebook. I often engage in several witty and entertaining text conversations with my girlfriends about nothing.
If we really examine our morning routines, most of us will find that we do in fact have the two extra minutes required to apply a serum, a moisturizer, and a proper primer. These extra minutes that we are applying products with our fingers to our face will make a world of difference in how our skin looks when our makeup is applied. It also ensures that our skin is being properly cared for and hydrated.
Everyone wearing it generally walks around with pale skin that looks like sandpaper.
Those who seek natural coverage should follow those steps with a tinted moisturizer. This step evens out skin tone and provides a light coverage and sunscreen. My two favorite brands of tinted moisturizer are Laura Mercier and Trish McEvoy. Both products will help your skin to look like a better version of itself.
If it is more coverage that you need, then a CC cream is the way to go. CC stands for "color correction," and these products are better suited for most skin types as they are dewy and hydrating and cover imperfections impeccably. My personal favorite is the IT Cosmetics CC Cream. It is a miraculous product that will change your life. This product also claims to provide serum, moisturizer, and primer, but I think it best to do those steps separately to be sure that your skin is treated and primed perfectly.
When all is said and done, do what is best for your lifestyle and your skin! Take five minutes and sit down with a makeup artist or skin care expert to determine what is best for you and stick with it . . . no matter what the latest trendy foundation is to come down the pike.
After applying your foundation, you should always look in the mirror and ask, "Does my skin look like skin? Do I look like a better version of myself?"
If the answer is no, then throw it out and try again.
Lottery Horror Stories That Will Make You Think Twice About Buying That Ticket
8
Before you run out to buy a lottery ticket for the next Mega Millions drawing, there's something you need to know. The large prize could likely turn out to be a curse for whoever wins it. Most people have heard about lottery winners who lost it all, but sometimes these horror stories take especially calamitous turns. Below are nine blights you will avoid by not winning the lottery.
Divorce
Thomas and Denise Rossi were married for 25 years without any marital issues. Then, out of the blue, she asked for a divorce. Little did her husband know that days before filing, she had won $1.3 million, a secret she kept throughout the divorce proceedings. Once the truth came out, a judge found her guilty of violating California's disclosures law and awarded the entire winnings to her ex-husband.
Fire
Brits Roger and Lara Griffiths won about $3 million playing the lotto. She bought designer goods and he pursued a rock career, but soon it all went up in smoke. They lost money in bad investments, and their dream home, which they had borrowed against, burned down in a freak fire.
Murder
The story of Abraham Shakespeare is a truly tragic one. The Florida man had dropped out of school in seventh grade and could not read. At the age of 40, he won the $30 million jackpot. After he won, he couldn't say no to those who asked for money, even letting homeless people live in his home. That trust could have been his downfall. After Dorice Donegan "Dee-Dee" Moore "befriended" Abraham, he went missing. He was eventually found buried in a concrete slab at the home of Moore's boyfriend, and she was convicted of his murder.
Gambling
Evelyn Adams seemed lucky. She won the New Jersey lottery not once, but two times, raking up a prize of over $5.4 million. It didn't last long, though, as she squandered it on a gambling habit and ended up living in a trailer.
Hookers
If you win the lottery, beware of hookers. A love for cocaine and call girls cost Michael Carroll everything after he blew his $14 million winnings on the high life.
Thieves
Jack Whittaker won $314 million on Christmas Day. While Jack pledged 10 percent of his winnings to charity, the world wasn't so kind to him. Less than a year after he won, thieves broke into his car and stole $545,000 in cash. Another time, thieves stole $200,000 from his car (you would think he would find another place to keep his money). And if that wasn't enough, a strip club manager and dancer also conspired to drug him and take his money.
Suicide
It took Billie Bob Harrell Jr. 20 months to lose the $31 million he won in the Texas lottery. He quit his job at Home Depot and donated to charity, including 480 turkeys to the poor. But soon his spending got out of control, and people started to harass him for money. After he separated from his wife, his son found him dead from suicide.
Taxes
Tonda Lynn Dickerson worked at Waffle House. A generous regular gave the staff lottery tickets, and one day Tonda discovered that she had the winning ticket worth $10 million. While the rest of the employees alleged that they had all previously agreed to split a winning ticket, Tonda decided to keep it all for herself. They sued her and lost, but karma came back to bite Tonda when the IRS sued her for unpaid taxes.
Crack
Willie Hurt won $3.1 million in 1981. Two years later, he was broke after spending all his money on crack and was charged with murder.
Still think you could handle winning the lottery? There are some lottery stories that had happy endings, after all.

15 Simple Things Stylish Women Do Every Day
Contrary to popular belief, really chic women aren't superhuman - they're just well-prepared. If you don't see them running around with week-old coffee stains on their blouses or hobbling in painful heels, it's not because those things just don't happen to them. It's because they know how to deal.
In fact, they're dealing on a daily basis. Truth is, the fashionable friends you envy have some very helpful habits that make looking polished, confident, and cool a daily reality. It's not about a total wardrobe overhaul or dropping tons of cash on the season's biggest trends. Real style starts at home the moment you wake up. We've done the research - all you have to do is read on for the takeaways you can start practicing right now.
Meet the Princess Who Dresses Better Than Kate Middleton
If you thought Kate Middleton had quite the fashion-forward wardrobe, perhaps you haven't been following the outfit choices of another royal: Princess Mary of Denmark. The polished dresser beat out the Duchess of Cambridge as most stylish royal in a recent poll conducted by Hello! magazine. Out of 30,000 readers, a whopping 30 percent were team Mary, a number that immediately sparked our interest.
So we went back into the archives and found plenty of Mary's chicest looks, which, truth be told, may be a bit more daring than those seen on Kate. Read on to see them all as we hold out hope for Kate this year.
Turns Out, the Queen Is Technically a Binge-Drinker
We've gotten to learn quite a lot about Queen Elizabeth II over the course of her 90 years, but this latest fact is especially fascinating to us. According to Esquire UK, the monarch is a pretty impressive day drinker, so much so that by UK government standards she's technically a binge-drinker (same, to be honest).
She gets started right before lunch, enjoying a gin and Dubonnet (a wine-based liqueur) with lemon and lots of ice, then a glass of wine with her meal. A few hours later, she has a dry martini, followed by a glass of Champagne in the evening (there are eight different Champagne producers at the palace including Bollinger, Krug, Lanson, and Pol Roger, which was also served at William and Kate's wedding).
Now, size-wise, Elizabeth's intake is the equivalent of six drinks per day and 42 drinks per week (assuming she doesn't go crazy on the weekends), though the Queen's government recommends 14 drinks a week as a healthy measure of alcohol consumption. What can she say? She has a monarchy to run.
Halle Berry Gives Us Major '90s Vibes With Her Throwback Hair Wraps
Anyone who went to camp in the '90s likely remembers trading oily stickers, playing hand games, and rocking hair wraps. For those who missed the decade, the latter is the act of wrapping colorful yarn around a section of your hair. You can buy a kit to DIY it on Etsy. Halle Berry just spoke to our nostalgic hearts by rocking a totally '90s hairstyle on the red carpet featuring this throwback look.
At the premiere of Kidnap in LA on July 31, Halle wore her hair sleek and center-parted - a trend we already called that is making a comeback. She took it one step further by accessorizing with hair wraps and rings. She added to the '90s-inspired moment with a slightly shimmery nude lip. Before Kylie Jenner influenced a generation to run out and buy neutral-hued lipsticks, it was a mainstream color from the decade.
To keep it style feeling 2017, she rocked subtly chic nail art. Her nail color was sheer, except for a geographic negative space design on her ring finger featuring black polish.
Read on to see Halle's style close up and from all angles!
Game of Thrones Fans Noticed an Insane Detail About Sansa Stark's Hair
There was so much to absorb from the season seven premiere of Game of Thrones, you might've missed a key moment: Sansa's hair. No, she didn't wear a killer accessory á la Daenerys Targaryen, but she instead hinted at a possible plot development with her half-up look.
In a scene where she warns Jon Snow about how dangerous Queen Cersei Lannister can be, he says, "You almost sound as if you admire her." Sansa replies, "I learned a great deal from her." Fittingly, Sansa's braided style seriously channeled Cersei Lannister's hair looks from earlier seasons, as several Twitter users noted:
Is it me, or Sansa's hair looks just like Cersei's some seasons ago?#GameOfThrones
- Elvis (@ElvisPineWriter) July 17, 2017
Sansa certainly "admires" Cersei. Sansa's hair this season matches Cersei from season 3. http://pic.twitter.com/fJmkhjgX4i
- Mkbean (@mkbeanbuilds) July 17, 2017
That's super ironic that Jon said that Sansa must admire Cersei bc I was just saying to myself that her hair is serving Cersei szn 1 #GoTS7
- Dorothy Zbornak (@unprECEded) July 17, 2017
Also, Sansa is really channeling early Cersei with her hair style. #GamesOfThrones
- Andrea DeCamp (@andreamdecamp) July 17, 2017
This detail is subtle, but it could signal that Sansa wants more power and may be a threat to Jon Snow, the King in the North (and her half-brother . . . as far as she knows).
Sophie Turner herself has said her character's hair is a clever plot device. "She's a very silent character . . . you don't really know what she's thinking," Sophie told POPSUGAR back in June. "The only real way we knew what she was taking in and learning from these people [is] because she would mirror Cersei's hairstyle or Margaery's hairstyle. . . . It's really interesting to see that sort of physical representation of her adapting to each situation."
If this Cersei-like hairstyle is any indication of how Sansa's storyline is going to this season, it looks like there'll be trouble in Winterfell.
1 Pakistani-American Reveals Her Family's Best DIY Beauty Secrets
I will be the first to tell you I wasn't always appreciative of my Pakistani heritage and its rich and beautiful culture. As a first-generation Pakistani-American kid who was born and raised in Sugar Land, TX, I was often confused when my family had a different way of doing things than some of my other friends. For example, if there was a dinner party on Friday night, I had to come home from school and change into traditional Pakistani clothes - I couldn't leave on my favorite jeans. I never understood why my parents drank at least six cups of chai tea daily. And in particular, I was puzzled by the beauty rituals of my family.
My mom, grandma (Ammi), and great-grandma (Amma) passed on their beauty tips and tricks to me so I could take advantage of them, but for years, I did so hesitantly. I often thought to myself, "Why can't we just go to Target or Sephora like everyone else?" As I started growing up, though, I became fascinated. I remember being in awe at the stories my grandma would tell me as she whipped up a lip scrub or a face mask. I started realizing how many generations before me had made the same recipes we still use today, and I formed a new respect for my own identity and where I came from. Now, I'm grateful to have serious love and appreciation for my culture.
For me, the best part of these tips and tricks is that they have been passed down in my family. But others will love that most of the recipes are simple and made with affordable ingredients from your pantry. Read on to discover a few of the lessons I've learned from my very own Pakistani beauty queens - my amma, ammi and mama!
Emilia Clarke's Hollywood Evolution Proves She's Always Been a Queen
Emilia Clarke is making big waves in Hollywood thanks to her role as Daenerys Targaryen on Game of Thrones, but you also may know her as Lou Clark from 2016's Me Before You. Other than her hair color and wardrobe, the 30-year-old London native hasn't really changed much since she first burst on the scene, but then again, she's only just getting started.
25 Brides Who Went Modest on Their Wedding Day - and Completely Took Our Breath Away
When we first spotted Nicky Hilton on her wedding day, our jaws nearly fell to the ground. Gone was the revealing white number she wore mere days before, when she accidentally flashed a crowd at Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week. And in its place? A long, lacy Valentino gown, which one could perfectly describe as "classic" and, above all, "modest."
All of a sudden, our minds went wild. We knew Nicky wasn't the only bride who could pull off this style, so we did a little Insta digging - and found a trove of #ModestBride inspiration.
Read on to see why you might want to consider ditching those strapless options and covering up for your nuptials. These ladies did - and they all looked stunning.
Kate Middleton Is Actually Much Younger Than She Seems
Kate Middleton usually looks so ladylike and composed during her royal outings that she often seems older than she really is. But it's time we settled this once and for all: how old is the Duchess of Cambridge? Well, Kate was born on January 9, 1982, which makes her 35 years old. In fact, she's actually five and a half months older than Prince William.
The way Kate's chosen to ring in her birthday over the years is also an indication of what else was happening in her life at that time. For her 35th this year, Kate reportedly celebrated privately at her home in Norfolk, Anmer Hall, with William and their two kids, Princess Charlotte and Prince George.

Despite only about 10 percent of the world's population having a preference for the left hand, there are plenty of famous people who fall into the category. Here's the Cast of American Horror Story: Cult So Far
Information about season seven of American Horror Story has been rolling in! While last season was (unfairly) shrouded in mystery until the premiere, we actually have more morsels about season seven since this year's Comic-Con, including the new title, premiere date, and details from Ryan Murphy himself. A few regular cast members have gotten on-board, but there are also some newbies we were really not expecting (Lena Dunham?!). We'll update you with more casting news as it's revealed, but for now, take a look at the returning alums and fresh faces.
The Guy Playing Jafar in Disney's Aladdin Reboot Is Hotter Than the Desert of Agrabah
The cast of Disney's Aladdin reboot is coming together quite nicely - and includes some very attractive men. From Will Smith as Genie to Aladdin himself, newcomer Mena Massoud, we're really liking where this is going in terms of eye candy - and on Friday, it was announced that Dutch-Tunisian actor Marwan Kenzari would be playing the role of Jafar. Even though the character is a total d*ck, we'd be lying if we said we didn't appreciate a sexy villain. The 34-year-old has starred in The Promise and The Mummy and is expected to skyrocket to fame thanks to his upcoming role in the mystery film Murder on the Orient Express. In the meantime, let's appreciate his very, very good looks.

The Scary Truth Behind the Honey Sold in Grocery Stores
Do you buy honey at the grocery store? If so, you're probably buying honey that's been laundered, meaning honey that is diluted with fillers like high-fructose corn syrup yet labeled and sold as pure honey. Yes, that's an actual thing, and it's more common than people realize. The largest producer of honey in the US, Groeb Farms of Michigan, admitted to buying millions of dollars of laundered honey.
To better understand what honey laundering is and how to avoid tainted honey, I spoke to an expert. Damian Magista, founder of Bee Local, explained honey laundering as follows:
"Large quantities of Chinese-produced honey are being 'dumped' illegally on the US market. To curb the importation of chemical-ridden honey, the US established high tariffs on honey imported from China. Taxes drive up prices, so big companies are essentially sneaking this honey in to keep their costs low. Honey from China is being rerouted through other countries and it's getting mislabeled throughout the process to hide its origin. Many of these Chinese producers are using non-FDA-approved chemicals on their bees, and similar to the drug trade, the producers 'cut' their honey with additives like high-fructose corn syrup, making it less pure but less expensive, since it contains a filler. At the end of the day, when laundered honey arrives in the US, it's no longer pure honey."
Apart from honey laundering being less than ethical, why should this matter to you and how can you avoid it? Read on for answers.
Gordon Ramsay Critiques Toddlers in This Hilarious Spoof of Master Chef Junior
Gordon Ramsay stopped by The Late Late Show With James Corden on Aug. 1, and things took a hilarious turn, as expected. The pair debuted a new show called Master Chef Junior Junior, a toddler version of Gordon's popular miniature-chef show. The overly dramatic voice-over in the pretend episode says, "First came Master Chef, then the stakes were raised and the ages were lowered with Master Chef Junior. And now, we're making our biggest show yet with Master Chef Junior . . . Junior."
Your heart won't be able to handle the cuteness as you watch the tiniest humans attempt to impress Gordon and James with their culinary skills, which include a Play-Doh doughnut, raw meat, and bread stuffed with a toy car. "I said no toys," Gordon says as he bites into the roll and pretends to scold the child. Meanwhile, James thinks he's "just eaten some Lego," and the food doesn't sit with him too well. The whole thing is too hilarious to handle, but unfortunately Gordon confirms it's "never coming to a screen near you." Watch the video for yourself if you're in need of a really good laugh!
Remembering Princess Diana's Sweetest Mom Moments

Just like the royal baby fever that surrounded Kate Middleton's pregnancies with Prince George and Princess Charlotte, there was plenty of buzz when Princess Diana was expecting.
The world watched as she raised Prince William and Prince Harry, and almost 20 years after her death, we're reliving the sweet moments that were caught on camera when she brought the boys to official events, toted them along on trips, and took them to school. From the princes' first pictures to their later years as young boys, take a look at Princess Diana's adorable public moments with her sons.

Shay Mitchell Loves This Classic $9 Drugstore Mascara Just as Much as You Do
If you're like me and you follow Shay Mitchell on Instagram, you've probably found yourself wondering what makeup products she uses. How is her skin so flawless? How does she get her lashes to look so long? Well, you're in luck because I got the chance to chat with Shay over the phone this week and she was nice enough to share her three favorite beauty products.
As for how she gets those sultry eyes of hers, Shay credited these two things: an eyelash curler and mascara. "Specifically, I love Shiseido's eyelash curler," she said. "I love either Covergirl's Lashblast mascara or Tarte mascara." She's also a big fan of coconut oil. "I use coconut oil for everything chapped: cuticles, body, hair, everything." It's time to go shopping!
This 13-Year-Old's Halloween SFX Makeup Will Terrify Your Soul
When most of us were in middle school, we were lucky if we had that one friend who could curl our hair really well. Too bad we weren't friends with Gemma Borkowski, a 13-year-old from Australia who taught herself how to do crazy-realistic special effects makeup. The teen creates haunting work that includes gruesome bullet wounds, bloody razor slashes, and infectious legions that are so realistic you'll be buying Purell in bulk.
The makeup genius told Yahoo Beauty that she fell for SFX after watching a few YouTube tutorials to prep for Halloween two years ago (when she was only 11!). "I remember telling my mom that I wanted the makeup for Halloween, and I ordered a few products online," Borkowski said. "I've been teaching myself how to do SFX makeup ever since then."
As for inspiration, the well-studied Borkowski told POPSUGAR that she "absolutely loves" makeup artist Ve Neill, the Oscar Award-winning SFX artist behind The Hunger Games and Edward Scissorhands. "Of course, the makeup in The Walking Dead is incredible, too!"
We love how Borkowski gives her 19,000 Instagram followers complete makeup breakdowns of all of her looks. She frequently uses products by Ben Nye Makeup (a cult favorite of Kim Kardashian's). The budding artist told us that the brand "has a huge selection of products that can help you achieve anything you think of."
Other go-tos include products by Mould Life ("My absolute favorite fake blood ever!"), and Skin Illustrator ("Their alcohol palettes are amazing").
Borkowski admitted to Yahoo that her friends "are always asking if [she] can do their makeup for Halloween." But that doesn't mean she'll necessarily grow up to be a makeup artist. "There are quite a few things that I think I would enjoy as a career, but if I continue to do makeup all my life, I definitely wouldn't be upset about it." And neither would we!
Read on for some of Borkowski's most ghoulish looks, but be warned: they'll probably keep you up all night. This work is definitely not for the faint of heart.
This Couple Took the World's Best Engagement Pictures - at Chili's
I took some of my engagement pictures at @Chilis. You're welcome. http://pic.twitter.com/md0y9QS0RC
- Krista Doyle (@Krista_Doyle) August 1, 2017
There's nothing quite like Chili's queso to really bring romantic engagement pictures to the next level. That was the genius idea of Krista Doyle and Kelly Boyles, who decided to capture their love for each other (and food, of course) by snapping a few photos at the restaurant chain. Krista took to Twitter earlier this week to share some of the incredible pictures, which are equal parts adorable and hilarious, and Chili's noticed, replying to her tweet and saying, "These are the best engagement pictures we've ever seen." Agreed!
These are the best engagement pictures we've ever seen. Congrats on the engagement! We'd love to send you a gift. Please DM us!
- Chili's Grill & Bar (@Chilis) August 1, 2017
Krista told POPSUGAR that the idea came about while they were driving around to a few locations with their photographer, Desiree Echevarria. "I just said, 'We should do a few at Chili's!' because Kelly and I both love food," she said. "And I've been a huge Chili's fan my entire life."
When asked how they met, Krista explained, "We met on set of a web series our mutual friends were making called 'The Bacheloresbian,' which is a lesbian parody of The Bachelorette." She added, "We were both 'contestants,' but I fell for her instantly and asked her on a date two days later."
They're still finalizing their wedding menu, but Krista assured me that she's "DEFINITELY considered having Chili's chips, salsa, and queso there." File under: weddings we wish we were invited to.
7 Things I Wish I Knew Before I Went Natural
Image Source: POPSUGAR Photography / Benjamin Stone
A few years ago, I decided to go natural because, like most people who made the switch, my hair was fried. Admittedly, my first foray into natural hair wasn't very successful. I didn't do a good job of learning how to take care of it. I didn't know what hair type I was. I didn't even know how to effectively moisturize my hair - let alone that it had to be done on a daily basis. So last year when I decided to go natural the proper way, I entered a world full of tips, tricks, amazing results, and some really surprising experiences only people with natural hair can relate to.
1. The Truth Is Hard to Find
There was a lot of information out there that left me with countless questions: Should I wash my hair in twists to prevent breakage or not in twists to get it 100 percent clean and prevent product buildup? Is my hair low-porosity or high-porosity? Why does everyone I know who's taken the porosity test have low-porosity? Is this test even accurate?
These are some of the most common inquiries a naturalista will find herself asking. Different natural-hair bloggers often have conflicting advice on the best way to take care of your hair, and sometimes you do hair tests with dubious results. A part of the haircare journey is that you have to try everything that sounds sensible and then see whether it works for you.
2. Unreliable YouTubers Are Everywhere
I'm not proud of how many times I've fallen for clickbait. It leads to traps like loading a 20-minute video on how to increase the rate at which your hair grows . . . only for the vlogger to tell you at the 19:55 mark that there's nothing you can do because hair growth rate is mostly genetic. Time wasted.

3. It Can Be Injurious
Forget relaxer burn! Have you ever gotten apple cider vinegar in your eyes? In my attempt to increase the porosity of my allegedly low-porosity hair, I have taken to regular hair rinses with raw, unfiltered ACV. Several times the rinse has gotten into my eyes, and it hurts more than my last heartbreak.
4. DIY Hair Products Are Messy - and Sometimes Smelly
See: the time my little sister put a banana and avocado hair mask in her hair and was walking around with a mushy fruit medley on her head. Or the time I tried onion juice for hair growth and had to explain my life story every time I was within a 20-inch radius of someone. Some DIY products can be messy, embarrassing, and just not worth it.
5. You Might Contract Something Gross
Ever heard of the baggy method? Well, if you haven't, it's a method where you wash or moisten your hair and apply a growth-stimulating moisturizer, wrap your hair in a plastic shower cap and your usual hair bonnet/scarf, and leave overnight. The idea is that the steam created from the heat your body naturally gives out helps open up your hair follicles to moisturize your hair more effectively and encourage growth.
Here's one great thing about the baggy method: it seems to work great! Here's one NOT great thing about the baggy method: if you do it too often, you will very likely develop a fungal infection because of all that moisture. I'm not kidding. Trust me.

6. It Takes Up a Lot of Time
Caring for natural hair can take a tremendous amount of time. Because I have VERY tightly coiled hair that tangles easily, my hair requires a lot of extra attention. For example, I cannot afford to fall asleep on it overnight without putting it in twists, moisturizing, and tying it in a silk scarf - and that's just my simple daily routine. Factor in detangling time, hair rinses, pre-poo, wash, conditioning, and hair masks, and you get a significant amount of your life spent on hair care. I haven't seen my family or fed my dog in weeks.
7. It Can Be Very Pricey
Did you know sulfates found in almost all shampoos strip your hair of its natural moisture? Now, you need to invest in sulfate-free shampoo, which is also considerably more expensive than the one you were probably using before. There are also a lot of products out there to test, and the highly recommended products for natural hair tend to be pricier than your previous options.
Furthermore, because I am committed to buying products from black-woman-owned companies, that can carry a pretty high premium (although it's worth it). I'm thinking of taking a second job at this point.
We Will Never Get Over Queen Letizia and King Felipe VI's Wedding
On May 22, 2004, we were glued to our television, hoping to get a glimpse of Letizia Ortiz, now the queen of Spain, in her gorgeous wedding gown. Even in our craziest Disney-princess-inspired dreams, we could have never imagined the stunning silk-woven dress and 15-foot train designed by couturier Manuel Pertegaz. The way it wrapped the stylish bride's slim body and moved as she walked down the aisle to meet then-Prince Felipe VI at the altar left us in awe.
Twelve years later, we're not over that moment and often find ourselves looking back at photos of the big day when the oh-so-in-love royals tied the knot at the Cathedral Santa María la Real de la Almudena in Madrid, Spain. Now, you can do the same - just keep scrolling to relive the event.
How to Properly Cook Ground Beef, in Pictures
Cooking ground beef on the stove top seems simple enough, but so much can go wrong. Have you ever crowded the pan too much, and found yourself with rubbery, steamed ground beef? Does your beef seep out a ton of liquid, or do you struggle to chop the meat up into bite-size pieces, resulting in "meat rocks" (as one editor's boyfriend hilariously dubs it)? If cooking perfectly ground beef eludes you, have no fear. These pictures will show you how to properly brown ground beef - or any ground meat, for that matter - so that your tacos, tomato sauce, and sloppy joes turn out tasty every time.
7 Other Places You Can See Kit Harington (Besides Game of Thrones)
Jon Snow has been bringing his sexiest smolders to Game of Thrones for seven seasons now. We watched him come back to life, we fawned over his beautiful man bun, and we're pretty sure he deserves the throne more than anyone else. Part of the reason Jon Snow is just so irresistible, though, is because he's played by Kit Harington. Harington's just as hot in real life (if not hotter), and he also smiles way more often. If you've developed an unexpected crush on the GOT actor over the years, we have good news: he's had a handful of other roles in various movies. Who's ready for a marathon?
Hilary Duff's Hollywood Evolution Proves She Has Always Been a Hollywood It Girl
Hilary Duff has had quite the Hollywood evolution. From her breakout role as a little witch in Casper Meets Wendy to her iconic Disney Channel role on Lizzie McGuire, the 29-year-old has been in the spotlight for most of her life, and she doesn't plan on stopping anytime soon. When she's not sharing sweet pictures of her son Luca, Hilary is starring in the Sex in the City-esque series Younger. Over the years though, one thing has always remained: she's picture-perfect. See her transformation in her best pictures through the years.
Don't Let Summer End Without Trying Estée Lauder's Newest Foundation
I was never able to identify the one beauty product I couldn't live without until I used Estée Lauder Double Wear. I was introduced to the foundation in college and I've been hooked ever since for a few good reasons.
For starters, Double Wear provides practically full coverage that perfectly conceals my hyperpigmentation with just one coat of product. If I need additional coverage, there's no need to whip out multiple concealers - the buildable formula allows me touch up my concern areas without applying numerous layers to my face. And unlike other full-cover foundations that tend to look and feel heavy, Double Wear mimics the appearance of actual skin so my makeup never looks caked on.
So, naturally, when I found out my favorite foundation of all time would be coming in a new formula, I knew I needed to get my hands on it ASAP. The Double Wear Nude Water Fresh Makeup foundation is the weightless, UVF-fighting younger sister to classic DW. It's perfect for the girl who wants to achieve a "no-makeup" makeup look while protecting her skin (which is basically all of us, amirite?).
Like the traditional formula, you can achieve an even complexion that will last you up to 24 hours. It's extremely breathable and feels like silk when applied to the skin. Its weightless texture is perfect for Summer days when you want light coverage without your face melting off in the heat. And, speaking of Summer, Water Fresh is formulated with SPF 30 and antioxidants to help protect your skin from the sun, so if you forget to apply sunscreen in the morning, you can feel confident that your makeup has you covered.
To use, I just shake the bottle, apply a few dots around my face, and buff out with my favorite foundation brush. I've been using it in the sweltering NYC heat and never have to worry about my makeup disappearing by lunchtime or sweat-induced breakouts. The sleek one-ounce bottle also makes this convenient to travel with, and I won't be leaving for my upcoming vacay without it.
Double Wear Nude comes in 12 shades ranging from fair to deep so women of various complexions can get in on the magic. You can snap up the new formula now at esteelauder.com and Sephora for $42, so if you aren't already on the Double Wear train, get on it now.
The Top 5 Most Likely Candidates For Azor Ahai on Game of Thrones
This week, more than ever, Game of Thrones made one thing abundantly clear. All of this b*tch-slapping - the drama between the dragon-wielding Daenerys and Mad Queen incumbent Cersei and the edgy Disney pirate Euron and even the late, downright savage Olenna Tyrell - none of it really matters. The important fight is with the White Walkers, who are getting closer to The Wall and getting ready to f*ck everybody all the way up. Luckily, if you're in tight with the Lord of Light, you'll know that Westeros has an ace in the hole: the prophecy of Azor Ahai.
Basically, Azor Ahai is a mythical hero who already defeated the White Walkers a superlong time ago. In the present day, though, there is a "Prince That Was Promised," a reincarnated Azor Ahai who will, once again, defeat the army of the undead. The question is, who will be our hero?! There are specifications, according to the prophecy: "When the red star bleeds and the darkness gathers, Azor Ahai shall be born again amidst smoke and salt to wake dragons out of stone." So, all we have to do is figure out who fits the bill and we should be good to go, right? Um, kind of. The thing is, finding the resurrected Azor Ahai is harder than it looks. Thankfully, we have a few very strong candidates.
The Best Photos of Selena Gomez and Her Mom, Mandy
When Selena Gomez appeared on the red carpet for the premiere of her Netflix show 13 Reasons Why, there was one person by her side we don't often see: her mom, Mandy Teefey. Though the mother and daughter are really close, they are pretty private about their relationship, only occasionally sharing Instagram photos together and showing up at events only a handful of times. Even in those few pictures, we can tell they are inseparable. See their obvious bond by looking ahead for the best photos ever.
Game of Thrones: What Will Jaime Do With Joffrey's Death Reveal?
Diana Rigg's time on Game of Thrones has sadly come to an end, but at least she got to go out with one of the most epic mic drops the show has ever seen. In Sunday's episode, "The Queen's Justice," Lady Olenna downs her poisoned wine like a boss and proceeds to use her last few moments on earth to tell Jaime Lannister that she is responsible for his son Joffrey's death by poison at his own wedding back in season four.
To his immense credit, Jaime digests this news (with emotions playing across his face), but he still lets Lady Olenna succumb to the poison rather than running her through with his sword right here on the spot. But what will he do now?
Take It Out on the Remaining Tyrells
After Mace, Margaery, and Loras are killed at the Great Sept of Baelor explosion, Olenna says that Cersei took away her "future," but Olenna can't have been the very last of the entire bloodline.
In the books, there are many other Tyrell cousins, stemming from several places: Olenna's brother-in-law Moryn's children, Olenna's daughters (Mace's sisters), and Mace's two other children, Willas and Garlan (brothers to Loras and Margaery). These characters have not been mentioned on the TV series, but back in season three, episode four, one of Margaery's handmaidens calls Olenna "Nana," so clearly there are at least some Tyrell cousins lurking around.
Jaime may decide any remaining Tyrells need to pay for the crimes of their grandmother and go on some kind of revenge rampage.
Appeal to Cersei's Better Nature
Will Jaime tell Cersei what he has learned? It's hard to say. What good would that do now? Cersei has moved on from Joffrey's death, plus she doesn't need an excuse to hate on her brother Tyrion - blaming him for Joffrey's death was just the latest in a long line of reasons Cersei hates Tyrion. But maybe Jaime will try to reunite his family anyway, telling Cersei about Lady Olenna's confession in the hope of convincing her to extend an olive branch to their brother and invite him back into the fold.
This seems unlikely, though. We can't really see her forgiving Tyrion, let alone giving him the apology he definitely deserves.
Fight For Tyrion
Jaime doesn't hate Tyrion the way his sister does. In fact, Jaime actually loves his younger brother, so maybe Jaime will tell Cersei about Lady Olenna and won't ask if he can invite Tyrion back; maybe he'll just do it whether his sister approves or not.
Go to Dragonstone Himself
This is most certainly a long shot, but perhaps this revelation about Joffrey will open Jaime's eyes to what monsters his family members are and he'll flee to join up with Tyrion and fight against his sister. Like we said, long shot. If Jaime has not yet realized his family is full of monsters, he never will. Or maybe he has realized it, but he just doesn't care. Either way, it doesn't seem like he's going to leave Cersei's side anytime soon.
Reach Out to Tyrion
This seems like the likeliest scenario. Jaime won't tell Cersei, he won't invite Tyrion to rejoin them, and he won't go to Tyrion himself - but he will at least send a raven to his brother informing him that he knows for sure Tyrion is innocent and that he's sorry for everything that has happened. Jaime is mostly an honorable man, so it would be weird if he does nothing with this latest revelation.
Nothing
It would be a little weird for Game of Thrones to give Lady Olenna such an outstanding send-off then have Jaime do nothing with the information he has just been given, but stranger things have happened. Perhaps he'll just keep the information to himself, seeing it futile to either tell Cersei or try to mend fences with Tyrion. You know, come to think of it, that might actually be his best course of action.
Don't Make Me Feel Bad For Having an Only Child
I have an only child, and apparently, some people think this is awful. I get comments and questions from strangers on my only-child status - "Oh, she has to have a little sister or brother one day. She must!" (She, meaning my daughter.) Or, "Are you only going to have just one?"
Only one.
As if one child isn't a blessing or gift in itself. As if just "one" child is an abomination.
Then, of course, there's the onslaught of comments on how "Only children are so selfish and spoiled," or "Only kids get so lonely. They resent their parents later on." Apparently, being an only child is akin to being a leper: a life full of negatives.
To be honest, all of this stuff used to make my blood boil. For the longest time, I felt terrible knowing that my girl would most likely be an only child. After having hyperemesis gravidarum during pregnancy two times and losing pregnancies, I started to consider that maybe it was best if this baby thing was a one-shot deal for me.
And then when my ex-husband and I separated, I figured that sealed the coffin on my baby-making days. I'm in my late thirties, so I would have to meet someone utterly amazing who would take care of me if I had hyperemesis again, convince myself to risk going through that again, and get married all relatively quickly. Since statistically the chances of that happening are pretty small even though the "shop" is still open, I finally came to terms with the fact that it's probably going to be a two-girl show for the rest of my life - me and my kid.
This wasn't something I instantly accepted with the inner peace of Mother Teresa. I grew up in a family of four girls - I'm the youngest - and find long periods of total silence to be insanity-producing. I'm also constantly socializing. When people find others to be loud, I find it comforting. Loud, chaotic, and warm are just a few of the words I would use to describe my childhood. So at first the thought of raising just one child seemed, well, bizarre. The childhood I knew was full of frenzy and women. What would it be like to grow up without someone to tease? Would her life be complete without a sister and her boyfriend to humiliate? But then after grieving this reality - that my daughter (unless she earns a stepsibling) will be the number one star on our planet - I not only accepted it, but I also started to love having an only child. Instead of feeling bad, I love my only-child relationship. Here are six reasons I don't feel bad for having an only child.
Money, Money, Money. Moooney
Before my ex-husband and I split up, money was tight. Now that I'm a single mom, it's tighter. As a child, my family briefly went through money trouble when I was younger, and I remember the stress of that very well. It soothes me to know that with only one child, I only have one extra mouth to worry about, instead of many. That if my daughter wants to do an activity or go somewhere cool like a play museum or a show, I can take her - or manage with her dad to make it happen. If I had another child, I would have to shut down these opportunities for my first kid. We may never see Disney World, but with one kid, I can give her my absolute best on my minimum means.
This doesn't mean that people should "wait" to have enough money to have another kid. If you keep waiting, you'll never have enough. But like the late Michael Jackson said, "If you can't feed your baby - yeah, yeah - then don't have a baby."
Yeah, yeah.
Time
I work now. I used to be a mom who stayed at home (most of the time), but now I'm on the clock 40 hours or more a week. Time is limited. I feel guilty as it is when I don't see my daughter either because she is with her father on his days or because I am working. Another kid would simply take away from the limited time I have to offer her, and I'm not OK with that right now. If I have just a few hours to spare, it's all hers to take.
Closeness
As a kid, I always chased after my older sisters who are nine, seven, and almost six years older than I am. I hated the feeling of being "left out," and of course due to the age difference, I was. Plus with so many siblings, there were bound to be personality or life clashes. It just happens. With my daughter, it's just the two of us. I'm not busy helping another kid do X, Y, or Z. She has all of my attention, and while I'm sure there might be downfalls to that, I think it's great. Getting quality time in a house of three other kids was difficult in my family until my sisters left and went to college. I like that I have the time to learn about who she is as a person and her interests. I can devote time to a fascination of hers - something I couldn't do to the same extent with more kids. I know right now I am my daughter's parent, and I don't believe in "parenting" as a best friend, but one day when she's older, I like the idea of us as best friends forever.
Siblings = Not Always Close
Everyone touts siblings as the BE-ALL AND END-ALL! They're forgetting, however, that not all siblings get along. Granted, siblings do bring so much to a child's life, but a sibling does not mean instant love. Two siblings can clash or be totally disconnected. I haven't heard from one of my sisters since August, despite the fact that I reach out. The other I hear from via text or social media, which is nice. The third I talk to pretty frequently, but we fight sometimes, and then we don't talk for a while. This is how it has been our whole lives. We can't help it. We love each other a ton, but we clash.
You can't make another kid and guarantee your child will have a best friend for life. Of course we all hope it will be that way, but the reality is, it's not always. And while my daughter misses out on all the fun of sibling life, she also misses out on sibling drama. And in place of siblings, she has become very independent and mature.
My Career
Yeah, I said it. I am passionate about my career as a writer and performer. I love my day job, too. With one kid, I can devote more time to my pursuits and not feel bad about it - or shortchange my child. I enjoy being a mother, but I also love being Laura, and there's no shame in that. What I do brings me great joy. In turn, my child sees a strong, happy, and motivated woman who believes in herself and goes after what she wants and succeeds. Not a shabby example for her to follow as a wee girl.
My Health
I had three pregnancies, and two of those pregnancies I had severe hyperemesis gravidarum, yet I only have one child. As you can tell from the math, I was not a healthy pregnant woman, although getting pregnant was easy for me. Now, I'm healthy and fit and feel great. I'm not sure if I can go through being sick again or go through more heartache and loss. Who can blame me?
One Isn't the Loneliest Number
I fully support anyone who wants many kids, no kids, or just one. I see the joys in all of those scenarios and believe it's not my job to comment. I only wish strangers would stop showing pity for my daughter's "only status." She has the love and rapture of two parents. Not exactly a sob story.
And after such difficult pregnancies, I am so thankful for my healthy just one child and love the bond I have with her. It is a blessing to be her mother, and while it's the hardest job I've ever had, it has brought me more joy than I could have ever imagined.
