It's easy to pick out the spoiled kid on the playground but much harder to turn a critical eye on ourselves. Here's a checklist of 10 signs that indicate that you may have a spoiled child on your hands.

12 Curly Hair Hacks That Will Completely Change Your Life

Having curly hair brings me such joy. The springy ringlets are indicative of my large personality, but I didn't always know how to care for my coils. About eight years ago, I was clueless about all the unwritten rules (like no more shampoo, brushes, or towels.) And the commandments vary by hair type, too. A woman with waves can't live by the same hacks that I rely on day to day for my Afro-texture hair.

That's why we've called in the curly hair experts from Devachan Salon in NYC to create a beginner's bible to curls. Stylist Eladia Lebron gave three curly editors a makeover, while divulging her best tips for every hair type. This comprehensive guide explains everything from applying conditioner to pineappling (which is an overnight curly girl trick). Get ready to achieve the best hair of your life - no hot tools required.

16 People Who Are Still Laughing at Those Lame Cave Paintings in Game of Thrones

Every now and then, Game of Thrones hits pause on all of the poisoning, throat slitting, and soldiers being charred alive by dragon fire-ing to give fans a few lighter moments. The most recent one comes courtesy of a sexual-tension-laden scene in season seven's fourth episode, "The Spoils of War," involving Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke).

Jon pulls Dany into the cave on Dragonstone where they're mining dragonglass to show her some ancient drawings he found, supposedly made by the Children of the Forest and the First Men. The drawings show the two groups working together centuries earlier to fight the White Walkers, and Jon points out that the two of them need to do the same if they want to stand a chance against the Night's King's impending army.

The drawings (very conveniently) convince Dany to join his cause, but Twitter could not get enough of how silly the paintings look. Why do the paintings go from rudimentary swirls to hyperrealistic sketches of White Walkers? Is Bob Ross descended from the Children of the Forest? Did Jon scurry down there and draw those himself real quick? Check out the most hilarious reactions from Game of Thrones fans below.

30 Tiny, Chic Wrist Tattoos That Are Better Than a Bracelet

If you truly want to wear your heart on your sleeve, then the wrist should be the canvas for your next tattoo. A flat plane fairly easy to tattoo, the wrist is popular for first-timers and small designs or sayings. While the wrist is generally a more visible tattoo spot than, say, the ribs or back, this placement allows for easy coverage with foundations or bracelets - making it an ideal choice for those who might be slightly tentative to get inked in a more prominent location. Conversely, we're also partial to the wrist because of its visibility: the conspicuousness of this spot is perfect for tattoos meant to serve as a source of inspiration, support, or reminder.

But don't just take our word for it - check out these gorgeous pieces of wrist ink to get some serious tattoo inspiration.

Basically, this place is a dream come true. Many visitors will have birthday parties and bridal showers here, and we can totally see why! Check out all the gorgeous photos. Can we get on a plane to Thailand now, please?

This Season 1 Quote From Robert Baratheon Eerily Foreshadowed That Epic Dothraki Battle

Warning: spoilers for Game of Thrones below!

A lot of lives might have been spared during the epic, climactic battle at the end of fourth episode of Game of Thrones season seven, "The Spoils of War," if only the Lannisters had taken some advice from Robert Baratheon to heart.

The late King of the Seven Kingdoms might have been a pretty terrible ruler, but there's no denying that he was an incredibly savvy commander. He proves how perceptive he is in terms of battle strategy in season one during a conversation with then-wife Cersei, who is unconvinced that Daenerys Targaryen or the Dothraki pose a threat to King's Landing. Robert goes on to explain exactly how the invaders could take the Iron Throne, and one line he utters in particular eerily foreshadows the battle Jaime and the Lannister forces lose against Daenarys and the Dothraki in "The Spoils of War," as pointed out by Reddit user Execute-Order-66.

"I do know this: If the Targaryen girl convinces her horselord husband to invade and the Dothraki horde crosses the Narrow Sea . . . we won't be able to stop them," he says. "Let's say Viserys Targaryen lands with 40,000 Dothraki screamers at his back. We hole up in our castles. A wise move. Only a fool would meet the Dothraki in an open field."

[MAIN SPOILERS] Even in death, Robert's advice lives on from gameofthrones

Cersei tries to counter by pointing out the widespread Westerosi belief that "the Dothraki don't sail" (which we now know to be false), and Robert further lays out a possible battle plan for the Targaryens/Dothraki. "They leave us in our castles. They go from town to town, looting and burning, killing every man who can't hide behind a stone wall, stealing all our crops and livestock, enslaving all our women and children," he says. "How long do the people of the Seven Kingdoms stand behind their absentee king, their cowardly king hiding behind high walls? When do the people decide that Viserys Targaryen is the rightful monarch after all?"

Not only does Robert's sage advice potentially foreshadow how Dany's Dothraki and Unsullied armies might sweep through King's Landing and take the Iron Throne, but it also reiterates how far Cersei has strayed from her late-husband's warning that "one army, a real army, united behind one leader with one purpose" is stronger than five. She shows time and time again that she's willing to do anything to remain in power, even if that means filling the people of Westeros with fear rather than a sense of unity.

Robert might be dead, but clearly his words still ring true.

Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes Hold Hands During Their Nostalgic Disneyland Date

If there is one couple we wish we saw more of, it's definitely Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes. The couple has been together for almost six years now and have a habit of keeping their relationship extremely private, but on Sunday, they stepped out for a romantic date at the happiest place on Earth: Disneyland. Clad in baseball caps and jeans, Ryan and Eva embraced their inner children as they enjoyed the California park's fun rides, including The Haunted Mansion, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and It's a Small World. They also did a little souvenir shopping, and Eva treated herself to an oversize lollipop. To make matters even cuter, the couple held hands as they strolled through the park, and Ryan also assisted his other half onto one of the rides like a true gentleman.

Unfortunately, Ryan and Eva's daughters, Esmeralda, 2, and Amada, 1, didn't join them, but their date did give us some flashbacks to their previous Disneyland outing in 2011. Not only does the park seem to be a favorite spot of theirs, but it also holds a special place in Ryan's heart. Before becoming one of Hollywood's biggest actors, Ryan got his start on The Mickey Mouse Club alongside stars like Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears.

Julianne Hough Jumps Into Brooks Laich's Arms During a Relay Race

Julianne Hough and Brooks Laich are getting right back into action following their relaxing honeymoon last month. After hitting the beaches of Seychelles and taking a safari in Kenya, the newlyweds showed off their sporty sides as they celebrated their friend's birthday at Noon Lodge in Big Bear Lake, CA, on Sunday. While Brooks opted to go shirtless for a few of the events (it looked like a Summer camp-esque color war), Julianne flaunted her washboard abs in a blue sports bra and shorts. Aside from competing in a water-balloon-throwing contest and an egg relay race, the pair showed off their sweet chemistry as Julianne happily jumped into her husband's arms. Looks like Julianne really is a total catch. Get it?

Queen Elizabeth II Did Something at Diana's Funeral That the Public Did Not See Coming

Princess Diana was honored with a public funeral on Sept. 6, 1997, seven days after her tragic death. The event brought in an estimated 2.5 billion viewers, while another three million crowded the streets of London to follow the route of Diana's coffin from Kensington Palace to her final resting place at the Spencer family home in Althorp. Diana's two sons, William and Harry, joined the funeral procession at St. James's Palace alongside their father, grandfather, and uncle Earl Spencer. The coffin, accompanied by eight Welsh Guards, passed Buckingham Palace, where members of the royal family waited outside. Queen Elizabeth II was one of them, and as Diana's coffin was carried past her, she made a very rare move: she bowed her head.

The queen's gesture is remarkable for a couple of reasons; first, while it is customary for others to bow (or curtsy) to her majesty, she is not technically required to bow or curtsy to others. She made a solemn, unexpected acknowledgment to her former daughter-in-law's casket that she rarely does for anyone else.

Second, there was a huge amount of drama within the royal family after Diana's death, including the fact that Queen Elizabeth II had insisted that Diana's ceremony be private - she faced "fierce resistance" from Prince Charles, and then-British Prime Minister Tony Blair also agreed that Diana should be laid out at St. James's Palace with a public funeral held at Westminster Abbey. Because the queen was so highly criticized for her silence and "business-as-usual" behavior in the wake of Diana's death, her bowing at the coffin attempted to send a message of compassion, honor, and genuine grief.

This Is the Stupidest Mistake You Can Make at Whole Foods

I recently had the misfortune of discovering the most expensive item in the ready-made hot foods section of Whole Foods. Knowing everything is priced by the pound, I thought I was being smart and conscientious when I filled up the smallest container with mashed potatoes. "They surely couldn't charge more than $5 for a small box of potatoes, right?" I told myself.

I proudly walked the items up to the cash register, and the cashier weighed my tiny box. My stomach flopped when "$14" appeared on the screen. "Excuse me, sir. Did you accidentally rest your hand on the scale? I couldn't possibly have just scooped $14 worth of potatoes into that container," I said, trying to ease my discomfort. He chuckled and shook his head, "There's no mistake. The hot bar is the 'Whole' in 'Whole Paycheck,' hon." There was no chance I could abandon the container either. Once scooped, must purchase. I simultaneously felt robbed and like a complete idiot.

FYI, everyone, the hot bar is $8.99 a pound. Let it be known that the smallest container fills approximately 1.6 pounds worth of mashed potatoes. Also worth noting, the mashed potatoes from the hot bar are the same price in the hot deli: $8.99. I'm never, ever, ever going back to the Whole Foods hot bar . . . that is, until the 365 by Whole Foods store opens in my neighborhood and the hot bar is priced by the container size, not by weight. The same container at a 365 store would cost me $5.50, a MUCH more reasonable price for mashed potatoes.

The 1 Badass Reason Women Across India Are Sharing Photos of Themselves Out Late

Women across India are flocking to social media to protest a politician's recent remarks about the supposed dangers of staying out late.

Ramveer Bhatti - the vice president for the Bharatiya Janata political party in Chandigarh - was speaking about a recent incident wherein the son of a fellow party leader was found stalking a 29-year-old woman. Bhatti blamed the victim of the incident saying, "Such cases tend to occur and the probability is higher for girls being stalked if they are out at odd hours." And he did not end things there, instead going on to add that "Girls should not be seen roaming on roads after a certain hour in the evening."

Following his controversial statement, women have taken to Twitter to share pictures of themselves staying out late with the hashtag #AintNoCinderella. The hashtag has since been populated with countless responses and empowering tweets. It even garnered its own Twitter moment. Ahead, we've pulled together some of the best responses the online movement has inspired.

1 Mom Epically Clapped Back at the Museum That Shamed Her For Breastfeeding in Public

One museum-goer got a lot more than she bargained for when she had a accidental nip slip while trying to breastfeed her baby. After being told to "cover up" by the Victoria and Albert Museum staff, the mom took to Twitter to make an important point about breastfeeding in public using photos of the naked statues housed within the museum walls.

Twitter user Vaguechera posted a series of photos of statues to make her point: that all breasts should be created equal.

Vaguechera posted a collage of four photos with a caption that read: "Flashed a nanosecond of nipple while #breastfeeding and was asked to cover up in @V_and_A courtyard. Am perplexed . . . "

The mom also posted several more photos onto her Twitter account.

Eventually the museum director, Tristram Hunt, got wind of the situation and publicly apologized in a tweet.

"V sorry. Our policy is clear: women may breastfeed wherever they like, wherever they feel comfortable & [should] not be disturbed," he wrote.

The Victoria and Albert Museum also issued a series of tweets explaining the situation.

The museum is also investigating the incident: "Staff receive regular customer service training to provide the best care for our visitors. We'll remind staff of our breastfeeding policy."

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds Had a Cute Couples Pose Before They Were Even Dating

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are the definition of a picture-perfect couple. In addition to being, you know, supergorgeous and in love, they also have a signature red-carpet pose to top it all off. When they're not giving each other heart eyes at events and premieres, Blake always shows subtle PDA with her husband by placing her hand on his chest or stomach. In fact, the sweet gesture actually started before they were an official item. During Spike TV's Scream Awards in 2010 (which was nearly two years before they tied the knot), the Green Lantern costars shared a moment on stage when Blake presented Ryan with his award. Since then, their cute moments together have only gotten better.

The 10 Most Stylish First Ladies to Walk Through the White House

We could never ignore the POTUS, it's just with such a stylish first lady by his side, we might briefly overlook him, admiring his wife's lovely ensemble right off the bat. In the case of the 10 women here - Michelle Obama, Jackie Kennedy, Hillary Clinton, and Eleanor Roosevelt all included - we were completely smitten.

These women redefined power dressing during their time in the White House, proving their confidence through fashion-forward outfits. Whether they were slipping into a gown for the inaugural ball or just giving a speech in a colorful suit, there was one common thread: these first ladies knew (or know) how to get noticed and make a memorable, sophisticated statement - now isn't that what politics is all about?

iPhone Owners, This Is What the New Emoji Will Look Like!

In honor of World Emoji Day (which, in my opinion, should be declared a federal holiday and include a national festival), Apple is sharing a short preview of the new emoji coming to Apple products later this year. And better yet, two of the emoji represent a positive step forward for women's representation.
Those notable additions include a woman breastfeeding and a woman with a headscarf. The breastfeeding emoji was originally proposed by Rachel Lee, a nurse who felt that the emoji was needed alongside the baby-bottle emoji that already exists. The woman-with-headscarf emoji is an answer to 15-year-old Rayouf Alhumedhi's call for more inclusivity. The teen wanted an emoji that looked like her . . . and the rest of the Muslim women around the world who also wear a hijab or headscarf. The 56 new emoji, which were officially released by the Unicode Consortium on June 20, also feature a bearded person, zombie, T-rex, elf, and face vomiting.
Apple's preview of the new emoji coming to iOS 11 doesn't include all 56. But for now, the small released batch will do. Check them out ahead and start counting down the weeks till they're out.

Dior's Newest "Squeezable" Mascara Is Basically Falsies in a Tube

I am no stranger to Dior's iconic range of mascaras. After all, I consider myself a lash junkie, and the highly celebrated Diorshow formula has been a cult classic since 2002. But the brand's newest formula, Pump'N'Volume ($30), romanced me like no other in the company's mascara lineup . . . and I daresay it's the best one to date.

You see, this product has a completely genius tube that hasn't been seen before stateside. (Amore Pacific Korea won an award for this packaging in 2015.) It appears like your everyday Dior mascara at first glance, but it features a silicone tube that can be gently squeezed. This allows users to "pump" the formula into the molded brush, boosting volume in an already intensely voluminous formula. (The idea was actually inspired by makeup artists: many pros working on set warm makeup between - or on! - their hands to make the product smoother and easier to apply.)

Not only is the tube badass, the actual mascara is impossibly amazing. I am annoyingly picky about lash formulas and this one has earned itself a permanent place in my rotation. Diorshow fans already know that even the skimpiest of fringes can be transformed into a lush rainforest of lashes with the product, but this one is on another level. The brush grabs and coats every hair, defining them without clumping. The formula dries fully - unlike some brands that leave lashes feeling slightly sticky - but never makes your fringe feel stiff. This allows for lashes that are densely voluminous yet still fluttery, like a strip of falsies.

If you don't believe me yet, good news: I have photographic evidence that this mascara is the stuff of dreams. Keep reading for before and after shots, then grab your own tube.

These Kids Did a Superhero Pregnancy Announcement For Their Mom - and It Was So Worth It

Holy diapers, Batman!

When it came time to announce her third pregnancy, mom Cara Boyer knew just who to call to save the day.

"My daughter is obsessed with Batman, and last Halloween we convinced our son Grayson to be Robin so she'd have a sidekick," Cara told POPSUGAR. "He's pretty easygoing, so despite Evie being younger, she is definitely the most dominant personality of the two. When they found out we were expecting they noticed a Batman onesie at the store one day and naturally wanted to get it for the baby. So, out of that came the idea for the Terrific Trio!"

Although Cara admits she doesn't know "how we will manage three now that we are outnumbered," it's a good thing this mama's got some superhero help.

If you've been tuning in to Game of Thrones season seven, then you probably noticed that Dickon Tarly is super hot. Meanwhile, he's also active on Instagram, where he shares adorable pictures of his family plus some sexy shirtless snaps that will make you do a double take. A Look Back at Princess Diana's Stunning Jewels

Princess Diana wasn't famous for her love of bling, but from the moment she said "yes" to Prince Charles' proposal, the door was opened to a calendar of jewel-strewn royal events. Over the years, the princess blended tradition with her own inimitable flair, creating some of the most iconic looks of the modern British royal family. We've rounded up some of the most incredible pieces from Diana's jewelry box - most of which she left in her will to William and Harry, specifying that they were to be worn by the princes' future wives. Which, of course, means we could be seeing all of these items worn at some point in the future - whether by the Duchess of Cambridge, or by Prince Harry's future bride . . .

These Body-Positive T-Shirts Are Taking Over Instagram - and We Want Every Single 1

When it comes to graphic t-shirts these days, we're admittedly pretty darn picky. We won't settle for just any corny mantra splashed across the front (looking at you, every "Live, Laugh, Love" shirt out there), and we've finally found a badass collection of tops that sends a message we can totally get behind.

Feminine Funk is the online retailer behind those body-positive shirts, tank tops, and dresses that are currently spreading like wildfire all over social media. Founded by Nicole Grier in 2011, the company's apparel features unapologetic phrases about self-love and body acceptance, such as "My thighs touch because I'm a mermaid" and "Big brows, big thighs, big hair, and big dreams." Can we get a "hell yeah"?

Feminine Funk was born from a desire to inject some much-needed positivity into a world where women are constantly being told how to alter their bodies. "If you search online for 'stretch marks' or 'cellulite,' the only thing that comes up are ways to get rid of it," Nicole told Yahoo Style. "Are you serious? I'm a badass woman and I take pride in my body."

Nicole wants the apparel's bold slogans to be a "daily mantra for women," and they most certainly are! Read on to see a handful of gorgeous bloggers and influencers proudly sporting these cool-as-can-be tees, tanks, and dresses, then shop some of our favorite Feminine Funk picks for yourself.

This Is How All Your Favorite Chefs Cook Bacon

If you believe that bacon is one of the world's greatest treasures, you're going to want to keep reading. While you obviously know how to make bacon (either in a skillet or in the oven), you might not realize how many other cooking methods there are that can make it even more delicious. Allow us to offer you some bacon-making inspiration from some of our favorite celebrity chefs, from brining to glazing and more. You might just find your new go-to breakfast recipe.

Ina Garten: Oven Roasted

Sometimes Ina Garten, Food Network queen, goes for simplicity over complexity, as evidenced by her oven-roasted bacon recipe. That five-star rating doesn't lie, either. If you've got store-bought applewood smoked bacon, you're just a simple technique away from perfectly crispy bacon.

Michael Symon: From Scratch

Chef Michael Symon doesn't mess around when it comes to bacon. His homemade bacon recipe starts with five pounds of skin-on pork belly, which is then coated in a spice rub and refrigerated for up to 10 days. While that seems like a lot of work, it's worth the effort if you love bacon. One commenter wrote, "This recipe rocks! It was well worth the 10 day wait. I followed it to a T and it was delicious. Better than the bacon I get from the butcher." If you've ever wanted to attempt entirely scratch-made bacon, this recipe is a keeper.

Alex Guarnaschelli: Candied

If your idea of good bacon involves sweet, salty, and sticky, you need Alex Guarnaschelli's candied bacon recipe. Thanks to a coating of finely ground black pepper and light brown sugar, the slow-roasted bacon develops a saucy coating that's finger-licking good.

Alton Brown: Brined For 3 Days

With a brine made of sugar, salt, molasses, and apple cider, Alton marinates raw pork belly for three days to achieve his Iron Chef's bacon results. Once the meat is ready, Alton's tip for baking the bacon in the oven is to line the pan with paper towels to soak up the fat and prevent smoking.

Bobby Flay: Maple-Dijon Glazed

Bobby Flay's maple-dijon- and black-pepper-glazed bacon is next level. By combining the flavors of maple syrup, dijon mustard, and smoked bacon, you'll get a sweet-salty-tangy bite that's hard to resist.

Get Strong, Defined Arms With This 100-Rep Arm Workout

Ten moves. 10 reps each. Sounds simple enough, but man, your arms will be toast after completing 100 reps without a rest. Modify this workout to fit your ability level by using two- to 10-pound dumbbells. Use the same size dumbbell for all 10 exercises (I used eight-pounders), or switch between lighter and heavier weights depending on the move. If this is still too hard, do five reps for each move instead of 10.

Whoa: This Harry Potter Theory Could've Changed the Series Completely

Get ready to breathe in and breathe out, Harry Potter fans - a recent theory is sparking up a conversation on the Internet on how the entire series could've changed. The single theory is based on one passage in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, involving the most underrated Hogwarts house - Slytherin.

The speculation, outlined by Tumblr user crazybutperfectlysane, discusses the idea of Cassius Warrington of Slytherin being chosen to compete in the Triwizard Tournament instead of Cedric Diggory. Both characters would still continue to help each other throughout the book up until the very end, when Voldermort still decides to kill Warrington. The user discusses the possibility that this might've united the Slytherins against Voldemort so they could have fought against him in the Battle of Hogwarts. Pretty crazy right? The entire post is below.

However, the theory train didn't stop here. Another user, aplatonicjacuzzi, took it upon themselves to delve deeper into what Warrington's death would mean to Slytherin, Hogwarts, and Harry. This would include Slytherins realizing that pure bloods aren't safe from Voldemort, joining Dumbledore's Army, and eventually facing off against He Who Must Not Be Named at last. The rest of the imagined storyline is below.

These two posts are currently circling the Internet, even though both are two months old. It makes sense - it's serving up the right amount of fresh "what if?" options we always need every few months. We can't imagine how different the stories of all our favorite characters would be like or how Harry Potter could have had different kinds of support at Hogwarts. Guess that's all we can do now: wonder how and what could change the story we love and treasure so much.

Sometimes it's so hard to decide where to go on vacation because the options are practically endless. You might let your schedule or your wallet decide most of the time, but why not let your zodiac do the talking for your next trip? When you were born says a lot about your personalities and habits, so allowing that to guide a trip only makes sense, right? Star signs who value adventure and fast-paced activity would fit in in New York, but maybe someone who seeks more of a calming vacation might find a charming South Carolina city a little more their speed. Keep reading to see where you should go next.

37 Mini-Freakouts You Had Watching This Week's Earth-Shattering Game of Thrones

HOLY. WHAT. This week's episode of Game of Thrones is absolutely one of the best ever - and most stressful, and most insane - in the entire series. Featuring reunions for the Stark kids, meaningful eye contact between Jon and Daenerys, and the battle that may be the most memorable battle in the whole series so far, "The Spoils of War" is so, so, so good. I personally suffered like 84 heart attacks watching this week's episode, but there are just as many moments to smile about, so let's get to recounting just how crazy this episode was.

Olivia Palermo Still Collects the Same Designer Bag as Carrie Bradshaw

When Meli Melo Creative Director Melissa Del Bono approached Olivia Palermo to come up with two custom shades for the brand's new Severine bag, Olivia knew exactly which colorways to add to the line. "Whenever I look at a bag - especially transitioning into Fall - I'm always looking for rich, Fall colors, so I think adding a nice white can help you play with beiges and neutral tones for a monochrome look, whereas burgundy is obviously more of a Fall feel," Olivia told us.

The Severine, which is so delicate and pretty it could pass for a bracelet, also comes in Liquorice Black, Poppy Red, and Primrose Pink and retails for $807 at both Meli Melo and OliviaPalermo.com. Olivia models the different styles beautifully in the campaign shots, which you can admire when you read on. Even more importantly, you'll find out what Olivia looks for when shopping for a bag, what she packs in her own pouches, and the one designer satchel she's been collecting for years. (Clue: Carrie Bradshaw's also a fan).

This Is Why Amal Clooney's Outfits Are Always So Darn Good

If you're the type who arrives at a party, the office, or even the movies dressed to impress, you're not alone - that's just how us fashion girls roll. But while statement shoes and furry jackets will surely make jaws drop, it might be time to take some tips from a star who's got classic, elevated style down pat: Amal Clooney.

No matter where she's headed, from court to the red carpet, Amal's outfits always stand out in the crowd. It's not so much that what she wears is so different or out-there; it's that she doesn't overdo it, knows how to accessorize, and always keeps things classy (no revealing dresses here).

Read on for 19 tips we'll be borrowing from Mrs. Clooney.

You'll Never Look at Figs the Same Way After Learning This Fact

Source: POPSUGAR Photography / Nicole Perry

I was recently perusing a farmers market and eyeing a basket of fresh figs. My friend looked at them and said, "I used to love figs, but I can't eat them anymore after learning how they're made." I was confused. I said, "What do you mean? It's just a fruit," and she gave me a look that said "see for yourself." So I did. And now I can't unsee the process either.

Figs, which are technically inverted flowers, require a special pollination process, and fig wasps play an important role in it. Figs and wasps have a longstanding mutual relationship in nature (they depend on each other, which sounds kind of sweet - yay science!). As explained in a BBC article about fig pollination, "Figs depend on wasps to make their seeds and distribute their pollen. In turn, the fig tree acts as a womb where the fig wasps can reproduce." This is where your reaction might become less "aww" and more "eww."

Source: Flickr user Jnzl's Photos

Pregnant female fig wasps carry pollen and enter male figs through a tiny opening at the bottom of the fig. The opening is so small that most wasps lose their wings and antennae as they make their way in. The fig wasp lays her fertilized eggs into flowers that are inside of the figs; she also fertilizes some of the fig flowers with her fig pollen. Once the female wasp is done with that, she usually dies inside the fig. Then, all the baby wasps start to grow. The male wasps mate with the female ones, the male wasps die inside (they're born without wings), and the female ones manage to escape, flying out to start the process all over again.

Here's the important part: humans don't eat male figs, only female ones. But this process of fig wasps entering figs occurs in female figs as well because there's no way for a female fig wasp to know if the fig she is entering is male or female. Female fig wasps are unable to lay their eggs inside female figs, so no new fig wasps are born, but they typically die inside the female figs, too. Are you lost yet? A video from PBS's Gross Science series offers a clear illustration of how this intriguing process works if you want to visualize it. Serious wasp-haters may want to avert their eyes.

The bottom line is, are we really eating dead wasps when we eat figs?! Not exactly. Luckily, a large percentage of figs sold in the US are self-pollinating. But another video about figs by HowStuffWorks claims that, "Most figs we eat contain at least one dead wasp" that has been broken down into protein inside the fruit. And to be clear, the crunchy bits inside of figs are not dead wasps - they are definitely seeds. Does this mean I'll never want to make a fig recipe again, like roasted figs with goat cheese and balsamic vinegar? Probably not. But will I possibly get a little squeamish if I bite into a particularly . . . crunchy fig? Probably.

How to Exercise Away Pesky Armpit Fat

It's true: there's no way to spot-reduce fat, but in addition to consistent fat-burning cardio, adding the following exercises to your workout routine can make a difference in how you feel in all your clothes - even around the armpit. Each works to tighten up the muscle groups around your armpit to help diminish the appearance of underarm fat.

It's also important to note that if you're concerned about the bulge around your bra, it simply might be time to get resized. Flattering clothes will alleviate the unnecessary tension or stress that comes with getting dressed.

Why I Gladly Spent $800 on the Most Perfect Hair Extensions

Something magical happened to me the month before my wedding, and it wasn't just the idea that I was going to marry my soul mate. I discovered hair extensions, and for better or worse, they changed my life forever. (Apologies if that sounds melodramatic, but it's true!)

To put it bluntly, hair extensions are the nose job my mane always needed. I was born with fine, flat locks that return to their natural state the second I leave Drybar. Until that glorious day at Bumble and Bumble, one month before my wedding, when a talented stylist painstakingly bonded Great Lengths extensions into my hair. Great Lengths extensions are made from gorgeous, human hair, and they are fused to small sections of one's real hair with pure keratin.

The process takes about three hours and costs around $1,200. At the time, I thought it was worth every penny. I left the salon with the hair I always wanted and never thought I could have. It was long, lustrous, and it held blowouts for multiple days. It was perfect. And as a lifestyle blogger and stylist, I quickly realized flawless hair was the one accessory I never knew I needed. Something about my new, cascading waves made everything brighter: my outfits looked better, I was more photogenic, and my extra hair seemed to give me extra confidence, too.

But unfortunately, some love stories must come to an end. (And luckily, in this case I'm not referring to my marriage!) In my opinion, Great Lengths has one major flaw: it can fall out. And it can fall out at inopportune times. Like that time I was meeting a co-worker at the Plaza Food Hall for lunch, and I had to discretely tuck a long strand of hair into my purse. How does that happen? Well, since everyone's hair naturally sheds, sometimes the extensions come along for the ride.

Taking out hair extensions is also time-consuming. A removal gel is applied to each of the bonds and rubbed into your hair until the bond breaks down and slides off. This process could take over an hour if you have a full head of extensions. But I was willing to look past these flaws until I decided to get pregnant and go au natural. (And by au natural, I mean I went to Ricky's, bought some clip-ins, and had a stylist cut and color them to match my hair to get me through nine salon-free months.)

I used the clip-ins throughout my pregnancy and for three more months after my beautiful baby girl was born. But I missed the ease of waking up with a full head of perfect hair that I could refresh with a quick spritz of dry shampoo. So back to Bumble I went, and my stylist, Carrie Hill, introduced me to a new tape extension that the salon launched last Fall. To be honest, I had my doubts about sticking tape onto my hair. But after several applications and removals, I'm officially hooked. Keep reading to learn more about this salon process and discover if it's right for you!

1 Mom Compared Her Hangover to Her Husband's - and It's Par For the Friggin' Course

Every Maternity Ward Should Have These Cool Hospital Beds

Every mom knows that the instant a new mother delivers her baby, she wants to hold it and never let go. However, typical hospital procedure requires that babies be whisked away (sometimes for hours) and swaddled in a separate bassinet at nighttime. But what if it didn't have to be that way? When Australian parenting website BellyBelly posted this incredible photo of a modern hospital bed with an attached newborn sleeping area, we couldn't help but wish that every maternity ward offered similar sleeping situations for new mamas. Cool, right?

Because the bassinet portion of the bed sticks out away from the rest of the bed, there's no fear of rolling over onto your bundle of joy, but the little one is also close enough to easily feed and cuddle. Plus, for those moms recovering from a C-section who are unable to get out of bed to tend to their fussing baby, it's a game changer.

Can't every hospital offer these ingenious sleep setups for every new mom? We hope it becomes standard soon!

This Baby Bachelor in Paradise Spoof Will Make You Laugh For All the Wrong Reasons

Jimmy Kimmel is known for his intense love of The Bachelor, The Bachelorette, and Bachelor in Paradise. The late-night host is so into the dating "reality" show that he usually has the couples come on his show during their whirlwind press tour following the final rose. But this week he decided to take things even further by creating his own show spinoff, Baby Bachelor in Paradise, ahead of the real reality show's season four premiere, and it's hilarious. Not only does the adorable cast feature signature Bachelor Nation personalities, including "the crazy one," but their professions are also enough to make you choke with laughter. For example, Alex, a 50-month-old vape shop owner, recently got out of prison for setting fire to a meth lab. We promise you won't regret pressing play.

Hailey Baldwin Found a Simple Way to Make Her Pinstripe Suit Look Street Style Ready

Hailey Baldwin isn't afraid to show off a little skin, as we know from her multiple bikinigrams. The model was seen on the blue carpet for Apple Music's Carpool Karaoke series wearing a wardrobe staple: a pinstripe suit.

Rather than styling her Baja East suit with a button-down shirt, Hailey used an off-duty styling hack and paired the suit with a gray crop top by Bec and Bridge. This ab-baring trick is just one way to give your business-casual look a fashion-girl spin. She finished her look off with a pair of Jimmy Choo heels and gold hoops by Jennifer Fisher. Have a look at her amazing styling hack ahead, and buy similar versions of her top if you want to make the move.

Sh*t! You Lost Your Driver's License - Now What?

I've lost/gotten my wallet stolen several times now, which makes me an expert on replacing IDs. Luckily, it's a pretty easy process, but many DMVs do require you to make a trip in person. Take it from me - try to get everything taken care of ASAP. Going out to eat or drink will be a pain in the ass, and you'll run into trouble if you get pulled over. Here's what you need to know about getting a new license if you lost yours.

1. Report a lost or stolen driver's license.

Consider reporting it to the police as soon as it happens to prevent someone from using your identity.

2. Make an appointment with the DMV.

If you're able to take time off work to make a walk-in visit during the week, go with that option to take care of it as soon as possible. Depending on your DMV, appointments might not be available for months, so only make an appointment if your DMV requires it or if you can't go during operating hours. Some states do allow you to apply for a replacement over mail or online under certain requirements. Check the site to see which rules apply to where you live.

3. Bring all necessary documents.

DMVs will typically require the same documents you presented for proof of identification and residency when first applying for a license. Your DMV site will have a list of acceptable documents that include an official passport, birth certificate, and a permanent resident card - not copies! The agent will verify your photo, your social security number, and one of the aforementioned documents.

4. Fill out the form.

Each DMV has its own form and many don't provide them online. Fill them out during your visit and present it with all other necessary papers.

Pro tip: Take a couple blank forms home with you in case you lose your ID again in the future! You'll still have to wait in line, but at least you won't waste another second filling it out at the DMV.

5. Pay the fee.

California's replacement fee is $27, while it's only $11 in Texas, so all states vary.

Pro tip: Bring cash to be safe. Some DMVs (like California) don't accept credit cards, but they all do accept cash.

You will get a receipt after paying and/or an interim license that's valid until you receive your replacement in the mail. Expect it to arrive in two weeks to two months, depending on your state.
