I Tried This Blow Dryer Nozzle From Amazon, and Holy Sh*t, It Made My Hair So Shiny

Last year when I went to visit my family for the holidays, my mom walked in with a blowout so smooth and glossy I audibly gasped. "Excuse me, what did you do to your hair?" I asked her. She looked like a damn movie star. "It's the Nozzle Dazzle!" she said. I just about spit out my drink at the funny name, but she went on to explain that her hairstylist at PS Hair Studio in the Bay Area had used a hair dryer extension on her that she loved so much, she bought it herself. I was convinced that this thing really worked, so I bought one too for $16 on Amazon.

The Nozzle Dazzle fits on the end of a standard blow dryer. It's a black nozzle with two metal rollers on the end. When you give yourself a blowout, you drag the Nozzle Dazzle along the top of your hair (yes, let it actually touch your tresses) as you comb it through. I start with damp hair and use a round metal brush as I pull my strands down from root to tip. The metal rollers get extremely hot, so make sure you spray a thermal protector on your locks before getting started; it will prevent damage.

The result is silky-smooth hair that has crazy-good shine. Every time I use the Nozzle Dazzle, friends ask me if I went to a salon to get a blowout. The reality is that I do it right at home. Not only does it make my hair lustrous, it also cuts drying time in half. I have a lot of hair, so much that it can sometimes take an hour to dry it with a regular hair dryer. By adding the Nozzle Dazzle to my routine, it now only takes about 20-30 minutes.

I'm not being dramatic when I say that this nifty little extension changed my hair game forever. I have even convinced multiple coworkers to buy one for themselves, and they're all thrilled with their purchase. Now I'm begging you to buy one - your hair will look better than it ever has. Read on to see the Nozzle Dazzle in action so you can visualize how it actually works.

A Llama, Bagel, and New Poop Emoji Might Be Coming in 2018

While the world still waits for this year's new emoji to arrive on our phones, the Unicode Consortium has released a list of new emoji candidates for 2018. The list includes fun animals like a llama and kangaroo and much needed food emoji like a bagel and cupcake. Best of all, it looks like the poop emoji could get an upgrade.

The full list, announced on Aug. 3, includes 67 possible new emoji. As you can see above, new emoji faces like party face, cold face, and feeling loved are under consideration.

Previously announced emoji, like the redhead emoji, are still on the list. Other hair emoji, such as the ones ahead, "will be confirmed at a later date," according to Emojipedia.

As mentioned, the biggest change involves the beloved poop emoji. It's not going away; it just may gain a counterpart - the frowning pile of poo emoji.

Check out the full list of proposed emoji over on Emojipedia. And keep in mind that it isn't all set in stone; the Unicode Consortium might add or remove some emoji before the final candidate list is revealed in October.

RHONY Star Luann Just Gave Us a Peek Inside Her Hamptons Newlywed Home

Luann D'Agostino (formerly Countess Luann de Lesseps) of Real Housewives of New York has always had a thing for the Hamptons. She retreated to the picturesque town of Bridgehampton after her divorce, living in a sprawling barn-style estate. Now, the newlywed has settled into a charming 19th-century Sag Harbor home that would give even castmate Bethenny Frankel's beautiful Hamptons home a run for its money. The Greek revival house features wide-plank flooring, soaring ceilings, and wood-burning fireplaces. There's even a warm and welcoming kitchen, perfect for hosting her RHONY gal pals for a boozy brunch. But the "crown jewel," as Luann describes in a video tour she made for real-estate series Open House, is the dock on Sag Harbor Cove. It's the perfect place to take out a boat, jump into the water to cool off, or just to sit and admire the stunning view. We're sure Luann and her new hubby Tom are taking in lots of Summer sunsets together here.

The Best Way to Scramble Eggs, According to Anthony Bourdain

When it comes to the best way to scramble eggs, chefs tend to disagree. And one chef who embraces an entirely back-to-basics, no-frills approach is Anthony Bourdain. Bourdain describes his perfect scrambled egg in a video and makes it clear there's one thing you should never add to to the equation: dairy. "I just don't feel that milk or cream adds anything. I believe that a scrambled egg is principally about the egg," the chef says in the video. "You're not making a quiche here," he says. In his Appetites cookbook, which is filled with recipes that Bourdain thinks everyone should know how to cook, he describes his go-to method of scrambling eggs. Ready for it?

Start with fresh eggs, and get a hot - but not too hot - pan going. Crack the eggs on a flat surface before dropping them into a bowl to prevent any shells from sneaking in. Beat them with a fork, but don't overbeat them; you want to have a ripple of white and yellow instead of an entirely yellow mixture. Drop plenty of whole butter into the hot pan until it's foaming, followed by the beaten eggs. Allow the eggs to form a little bit before beginning to gently move them around in a "figure-eight pattern," as Anthony describes. The final product should be fluffy, airy, and rippled.

So there you have it. Unlike Alton Brown, who scrambles his eggs with whole milk, or Chrissy Teigen, who makes "cheesy" cheeseless scrambled eggs with heavy cream, or Paula Deen, who claims adding water lightens them up, Anthony Bourdain omits any of these additions for a basic, buttery egg.

This Italian Model Floated Down the Aisle in a Cloud of a Wedding Dress You Have to See

It's no wonder Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana designed Bianca Balti the most beautiful wedding dress - the Italian supermodel made her industry debut with the Milan-based brand. But since then, Bianca's gone on to walk the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in 2005, nab the 2017 Rookie of the Year Sports Illustrated title, and create her own swimwear. Needless to say, her nuptials to Matty McRae, which took place at The Ranch at Laguna Beach, attracted most of the fashion industry.

The setting was lovely, and Bianca got ready for her ceremony in an off-the-shoulder, floral-print dress. She celebrated her surprise bachelorette in a tulle skirt and tee that read "Bride." But it was her romantic pouf-sleeved wedding gown that stole the show. Stitched with ivory lace, the number was instantly recognizable as a classic Dolce & Gabbana look, as was the lemon motif that could be spotted throughout the reception. Read on to soak up every dreamy detail.

This 3-Week Early-Bird Challenge Will Finally Make You a Morning Person

Waking up early is painful. It sucks. And it's hard. All the professional snoozers out there know the dreadful process and how attempting to become a morning person is close to impossible. But the fact is, it takes discipline and some getting used to. That's why we created the three-week early-bird challenge to finally help transform you into an early riser. The 21-day plan is set to help get your body acclimated to mornings, but it's up to you to keep it up for about another month and a half since scientifically, it takes 66 days to form new habits. Although it's not an overnight process, you can definitely make it easier on yourself by following the schedule below. Give it a try!

Pro tip: Set your alarm to your favorite song and place your phone across the room so that you're required to get out of bed to shut it off.

Monday

Book a fitness class or set up a morning workout with a buddy. The first day of the week is always the toughest, so you'll need something or someone to hold you accountable.

Tuesday

Dedicate this morning to a full breakfast. You'll need something to look forward to, so plan out a meal that will get you out of bed, whether it's a new smoothie bowl recipe or a stack of pancakes.

Wednesday

Make a list of errands and/or to-dos the night before to tackle when you wake up. Finally book that teeth cleaning, or take care of that laundry that's been piling up. You'll feel so accomplished before your day has even fully started.

Thursday

Try some morning meditation. Grab a cup of tea, breathe, and mentally prep for your day ahead.

Friday

Treat yourself! End the workweek on a positive note by taking yourself to a cafe or bakery early in the morning. You'll be in a better mood going into work with a coffee and treat.

Saturday

You'll need extra motivation to get up early on the weekend, so bribe yourself with a reward. Promise yourself a pedicure if you wake up on time, for example.

Sunday

Slowly ease into your Sunday morning with some good vibes and mindfulness. Stretch with a feel-good playlist to wake your body up, and then get your brain going with some quick journaling. Jot down things you need to do, reflect on your week, or do whatever else you find inspiring.

Repeat

Remember to try to wake up at the same time each day and to relax before bedtime for a full night's sleep.

The Sunscreen That Saved My Skin From the Scorching Sun at Walt Disney World

I have a confession to make: I'm a reluctant user of sunscreen. I know I'm supposed to use it to protect myself from sun damage, fine lines, and the like, but I've never enjoyed the feeling of sunscreen lurking beneath my usual makeup. What's more, many drugstore sunscreens had the tendency to irritate my skin and cause unusual rashes. With an exciting trip to Walt Disney World's Pandora steadily approaching, however, I knew I needed something to protect my skin from the harsh Florida sun, and I needed it ASAP.

Through a little process of elimination, I landed on Tatcha's Silken Pore Perfecting Sunscreen ($65). My daily skincare routine largely consists of products from the gentle brand inspired by Japanese beauty practices. In addition to knowing that Tatcha products typically work well for me, the line's sunscreen boasts a near perfect five-star review on Sephora.

Now here's the nitty-gritty on this sunscreen: the broad-spectrum product is made with zinc oxide and offers SPF 35 protection from UVA and UVB rays. In addition to its protective ingredients, it also consists of calming ones like silk extract, wild rose, and green tea. The sunscreen does come out of the bottle white, but it blends in easily with minimal effort.

As I left for the airport early in the morning, I applied a thin layer of the sunscreen and immediately noticed a change in the appearance of my pores. As a result, I decided to go without makeup until I arrived in Orlando. (Plus, I hate flying with loads of makeup on.) Before hitting the park, I applied yet another layer and, this time, I also applied foundation and concealer atop the sunscreen. To my surprise, the combination of different products did not make my skin feel all covered up and suffocated.

The following day was the real test: I'd be spending a full sunny day at Animal Kingdom. I made sure to apply a thicker layer as I left the hotel that day. Now, here's where you might say I made a huge mistake: I did not reapply. Probably because I'm not used to wearing sunscreen on a regular basis, I completely forgot about the handy bottle of sunscreen once it made its way to the depths of my backpack. Once I got back to the hotel in the early evening, I noticed a reddish color on my shoulders and simply thought to myself, "F*ck." But guess what? My face ended up being just fine. Though my arms were sunburned, my face didn't show any signs of sun exposure.

Since my trip, I won't lie and say I've been as committed to sunscreen as I know I'm supposed to be. That said, I have learned to implement it into my daily routine when it's a sunny day or I know I'm going to be outside a lot. That's progress, right?

Evan Peters Thought Emma Roberts Was "So Weird" When They First Met

Emma Roberts and Evan Peters are well-known for their romance on and off the screen (they frequently costar in American Horror Story together), but it might surprise fans to know that their real-life relationship started on a completely different project. In 2012, just a year after Evan's breakout role on the first season of AHS, the two worked together on the comedy film Adult World. While Emma was immediately smitten with her costar, Evan didn't catch the love bug until well after they finished filming.

"Everyone thought we dated on the movie and we didn't - not for a long time after," Emma revealed on an episode of Chelsea Lately. "I actually, on the set, was like, 'Oh yeah, we're totally gonna date.' And I would, like, flirt with him, which ended up looking like I had something in my eye because I'd be like, 'Hey, what's up?' And he literally didn't speak to me the entire movie. He thought I was so weird." Even though the couple have faced a few breakups (and makeups) over the years, their love seems to be thriving since getting back together in September 2016. Plus, they're set to share the screen once more when Emma returns for American Horror Story: Cult this season.

12 Books to Help You Survive Trump's Presidency

After President Donald Trump's adviser Kellyanne Conway famously gave us the term "alternative facts," sales of George Orwell's classic dystopian novel 1984 skyrocketed. People evidently saw parallels between the Trump administration's tendency to masquerade lies as the truth and the terrifying universe of Orwell's book, where truth has been redefined as whatever the authoritarian government decides is true, no matter how demonstrably false.

Trump is known for not being much of a reader, but what better way to maintain our own sanity than by diving into other smart, thought-provoking books that will help us navigate the next four years? We've collected a variety of texts, both fiction and nonfiction, old and recent, that will do just that.

5 Real-Life Tips For Being a Great Boss

Any quick online search about bosses will return abundant advice on how to impress your boss, how not to annoy your boss, showing gratitude for your boss, how to figure out what your boss is thinking, and on and on. But what if you are the boss? Once you reach a management role, you might find that it's tougher than you thought to be fair and authoritative in an elevated role.

So we polled two of POPSUGAR's top bosses, with nearly 20 years of combined experience at the company and asked them to share their most valuable tips for being a great boss.

1. Hire great people, and then trust them to do their jobs.

"Employees do their best work when they feel trusted and empowered, so create a work environment where your team feels valued, but not micromanaged. Be available, provide support, and give feedback, but at the end of the day, trust that your capable, bright employees will do the job you hired them to do." - Mandy Harris, managing editor

"I want to hire people who I trust to execute our vision and make decisions without me weighing in." - Nancy Einhart, executive editor

2. Don't be afraid to admit when you've made a mistake or don't know the answer.

"Great bosses are respected (sometimes even revered) by their teams, but they're not infallible. To build trust among your team members, don't hesitate to admit when you were wrong or need a second opinion. Your team will respect you even more for being honest, and it'll teach them to speak up when they screw up, too." - Mandy

"You also have to accept that, as with any job, you will make mistakes as a manager. I've made plenty of them. I think people would rather you make a wrong decision and fix it than make no decision at all. When mentoring new managers, I find that it helps to be honest with them about the mistakes you've made or the challenges you've faced. Let them know that what they're experiencing is common and, in fact, you've dealt with the same thing." - Nancy

3. Learn how to do the job you're asking others to do.

"You'll earn your team's respect and loyalty by showing them that you're willing to get in the trenches with them. That doesn't mean you have to be 'in the weeds' every day instead of doing your own job, but working alongside your team will give you better insight into their daily tasks and prove to them that you're not afraid to get your hands dirty." - Mandy

4. Honest feedback is key - even (or especially) when it's difficult to give.

"Often, we shy away from delivering difficult feedback, because it's scary and not fun. But I've learned that it's far more deleterious not to be honest. It's much fairer to be candid with people about what they're doing wrong and what's holding them back. Otherwise, you're not setting them up for success, and you're setting yourself up to be frustrated. I find that as long as I deliver critical feedback in a constructive, thoughtful, and kind way, people are grateful to hear it. As a manager, you simply cannot avoid difficult conversations. You just have to accept going in that it's going to be a difficult conversation but that it has to be done." - Nancy

5. Listening well and finding solutions breeds trust.

"You have to be a good listener, which means taking it all in but also being focused on solutions. I listen until I understand the problems at hand, then I pause the conversation before it spirals out of control. I'll say, 'OK, let me stop you for a sec, because I think I understand the issue,' then I repeat back the issue. That lets people know they are being heard and keeps them from just complaining for an hour. As long as you keep following up, even if you still don't have an answer, people feel reassured that you're trying to figure out a solution. Of course, you eventually do have to figure out a solution, or you lose their trust." - Nancy

This Photo Perfectly Shows Why Shopping For Boys Is a Struggle

Take a look at this seemingly normal picture. Notice anything off about it? No, it's not the clothes, which are - not surprisingly - adorable. No, it's not the prices, which seem more than reasonable and even cheap. What shocks me is that if I had a daughter, I would have five times more clothing options than I do for my son (according to the numbers listed in the top left corner)!

Look, I get that maybe older boys don't care about clothes, but at my toddler's age that shouldn't matter. As the person who is buying clothes for her perfectly handsome toddler, I want him to look good and feel good in what he wears. It makes my day a lot easier when he doesn't fight me over getting dressed, and even at 2, he has his favorite clothing items. Maybe if he had the same kind of clothing diversity as girls, the morning wouldn't be a struggle.

I've wondered for a long time whether or not a love of clothing is a learned or innate trait. Part of me suspects that if we want men to dress better when they're older, shouldn't we teach boys early on that clothing can be fun and a way to express themselves?

Instead of expecting less from boys, we should expect more from stores, because this kind of discrepancy is not OK. As a parent of only one child, I had prepared myself to spend some money on his clothes, but like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman, I'm not even being given a chance. Hopefully big retailers will realize soon that boys deserve better - otherwise people will take their money to the companies that get it. This is a big mistake. Big. Huge.

Rose Gold Blond Is Still One of the Trendiest Hair Colors You Can Get Right Now

Rosé season might be ending - but not when it comes to hair color. We recently got word from Butterfly Studio colorist Tamara DeFelice that rose gold blond hair is one of the hottest hues you can get right now.

"For a modern touch, keep most brightness around the face while staying a bit deeper in the roots throughout the crown," DeFelice said. "Concentrate highlights around the middle to ends of the hair. This keeps maintenance lower and adds instant depth to the look."

Though it is easier for blondes to add some pink to their hair, it is also recommended for brunettes with warm undertones. "This color will accentuate the peach and gold tones in women with warmer skin tones," she said. "Also, it will bring out the honey tones in their eyes."

The shade has been interpreted in diverse ways from Emma Stone's deep "desert rose" shade to subtle pink highlights and ombré fades.

"Play up your blond by asking [your stylist] to add in hues of rich rose gold and butterscotch," DeFelice suggested.

Jennifer Aniston's Dress Doesn't Scream "Look at Me," but Her Tiny Bag Does

Jennifer Aniston's go-to outfits for red carpets and dinner dates are usually black. This much we know, so it wasn't a surprise when we spotted her in an LBD. The star grabbed dinner with her husband and a few friends while wearing a ruffled wrap dress with peep-toe heels. Though her going-out outfit didn't exactly scream "look at me," her bag, on the other hand, definitely stood out.

It was a structured little box with an adjustable strap, which Jennifer wore across her body. Though the accessory was black to complement her outfit, the polished style didn't go unnoticed. It was a classic mini bag and one we hope to see Jennifer wear again. Scroll on for a closer look, then shop similar box bags of your own.

Starbucks Debuts a Sweet Horchata Almond Milk Frap Just in Time For Fall

Starbucks is just about as ready for the Fall season as we are, if the new Frappuccino is anything to go by. Starting today, the Horchata Almondmilk Frappuccino will be available in the US and Canada. This new sweet treat blends Starbucks's almondmilk with cinnamon dolce syrup, coffee, and ice. It's then topped with whipped cream, of course, caramel, and cinnamon and sugar sprinkles. The spicy cinnamon just screams cool weather, if you ask us.

Starbucks drew inspiration for this new horchata beverage from the various iterations of the drink from around the world. Horchata, which is popular in Spain and Latin America - as well as the US now - is commonly made with almonds or rice and cinnamon. However, different regions customize the traditional drink in a huge variety of ways. Starbucks's spin on the drink can be added to the long list of the many ways to enjoy horchata, and we can't wait to try it.

You'll Love This Powerful Homemade Carpet Cleaner

It's inevitable; stuff spills or you track in mud by mistake on a rainy afternoon. Just the other day, my husband left a dirty footprint on the carpet. When this happens at your house, don't get mad (well, maybe just a little bit) or run to the store for expensive cleaning concoctions. Simply become a carpet cleaner mixologist and open your pantry. Not only does this homemade carpet cleaner cost pennies to make, but also, it does wonders spot-cleaning furniture, erasing stains from rugs, and touching up soiled drapes. Not all carpets are the same, so make sure to do a small spot check before tackling big stains.

What You'll Need:

  • Small spray bottle
  • 1 teaspoon dish washing liquid
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • Clean absorbent towel
  • Clean sponge

Directions:

  1. Gather the ingredients to make your carpet cleaner. Along with being an amazing concoction, vinegar and baking soda put on quite a show when mixed. Vinegar is an acid, and baking soda is a base, so when the two mix together, they create carbon dioxide, which results in lots and lots of cleaning bubbles. Add the dishwashing liquid to the spray bottle along with vinegar, and then top with the warm water. Working over a sink, with the top of the spray bottle close at hand, add the baking soda, and then quickly screw on the top of the spray bottle.
  1. Vacuum over the area and then wipe gently with the abrasive side of a sponge.
  1. Spray the soiled area generously with the carpet cleaner, and then gently rub and dab with the towel. You should start to see cleaning results right away.
  1. Continue dabbing and wiping with the towel to absorb the water and completely remove the stain.

The Strict Diet J Lo Sticks to Isn't That Surprising

Jillian Harris's Birth Story Will Make You Laugh, Cry, and Nod Your Head

Jillian Harris recently detailed her unexpected birth story, which proves that things don't always go as planned - and that's perfectly fine.

The famous interior designer and former star of The Bachelorette welcomed her first child, Leo, on Aug. 5. Aside from an initial Instagram announcement, Jillian had yet to share the details of Leo's stressful, unpredictable, and emotional birth, until now.

On her blog, Jillian explained everything leading up to, during, and following Leo's birth. After noticing she was slowly leaking a few days before her due date, Jillian and her longtime boyfriend, Justin Pasutto, went to the hospital only to have to head back home and continue waiting.

The following evening, Jillian relaxed as she took her dog, Nacho, out for a swim in the lake. When she came back home, her cousin noticed her leaking. To ease any of her concerns, Jillian hilariously explained, "I had decided that my vagina was some monstrous vacuum and I told Sam, 'You know what, this is probably from the swim in the lake, I just sucked up a bunch of water' and crawled back into bed."

The next day, it was finally time to head to the hospital. Initially, Jillian described her pregnancy as being "textbook." She said, "I remember thinking I LIKED the contractions . . . I loved all the company and was laughing between every contraction. It was one of the most amazing few hours of my life." Then everything changed.

As her contractions worsened, Jillian was given an epidural and told that she might have to have a C-section because her baby was wrapped up in his umbilical cord. While all of this was happening, mind you, Jillian and Justin were also filming a pilot for a reality TV show that Jillian has yet to disclose. So all of this was taking place in front of an entire film crew . . .

In the end, Jillian was able to give birth without a C-section, after about an hour of pushing. She said, "He was beautiful, and life was beautiful." Along with her birth story, Jillian posted real and relatable postpartum photos of her family (including one refreshing snap where she proudly rocks adult diapers topless!) - scroll through to see some of their first moments together.

27 Dorm Essentials Under $40 on Amazon Prime

With a new school year comes the opportunity to hit "refresh" on your whole life - including your dorm decor. What a Cashier at McDonald's Did For a Boy With Autism Will Melt Your Heart

When Bonnie Kandel's son, Leif, gets fixated on something, it's very hard for the young boy with autism to let that thing go. After weeks of hearing her son talk about Teen Titans toys that his friend got from McDonald's, Kandel knew that she was going to have to take Leif on a trip to get a Happy Meal containing one of the toys.

"So after a few weeks we ventured out in search of the much discussed Happy Meal," Kandel wrote in a post she shared on the Love What Matters Facebook page. "We ordered and asked about the coveted Teen Titans toys that were displayed on a kiosk. They had run out, no more left. They were now on to Batman. Leif was devastated."

After telling their cashier, TQ, a bit more about Leif and why the toys meant so much to him, the young woman asked her manager if she could break the rules this one time and dismantle the display full of the Teen Titan toys for Leif. "It took some convincing, I overheard, because this was not something they were supposed to do," Kandel wrote.

"TQ spent the next 15 to 20 minutes getting those toys for my son. He was overjoyed and has been playing with them for HOURS! McDonald's, I hope you know how lucky you are to have such a sweet woman on your staff. Someone who takes special care of their customers, someone who goes well above and beyond."

Kandel ended her post with a thank you directed at TQ, who appears smiling next to Leif in the post's photo. "Thank you, TQ . . . These simple Happy Meal toys mean so much! Your effort was an expression of love and made a difference."

These Father-Daughter Illustrations Are Sweet Enough to Make a Grown Man Cry

It's hard to put into words why the relationship between a father and a daughter is so special. Perhaps that's why Ukrainian artist Snezhana Soosh decided to use watercolor paints.

In her recent series of Instagram illustrations, Soosh depicts the sweet-yet-silly bond between a dad and his little girl, whether it's braiding her hair or giving up a sizable portion of a king-size bed to make sure she sleeps soundly. Although the magic captured in the drawings focuses on one very loving dad (and his adorable daddy's girl), there are some any parent can relate to, like the need to look away from that massive pile of work to enjoy imaginary tea time . . . or play a rousing game of hide-and-seek.

We hope Soosh continues to paint these beautiful depictions of fatherly love - they serve as wonderful reminders that there are no limits to the ways a daddy can love his daughter.

This Old Clip of Steve Bannon, Anthony Bourdain, and Neil deGrasse Tyson Is Crazy to See Now

The internet never forgets.

Steve Bannon, President Donald Trump's contentious chief strategist, appeared on an episode of Real Time With Bill Maher in 2011, and the segment reveals quite a lot about his beliefs. Alongside an all-star lineup of Neil deGrasse Tyson, Anthony Bourdain, and former Salon editor Joan Walsh, Bannon discussed the financial crisis that had nearly crippled America's economy at the time.

Speaking to how millennials encounter far more financial woes than their predecessors, Bannon describes why, exactly, that's so problematic. "We are literally taking away the most important, formative decade of a person's life," Bannon said. "That's why the crisis is not something to talk about that's going to come, the crisis is here today."

In order to fix this problem, Bannon said that Congress must be mobilized and chastised lawmakers for not doing enough. "We should call Congress back, we should get to work, people should roll their sleeves up, they should be working 18 hours a day to try to solve this," Bannon said in the video.

Given that Bannon seems to hold quite a bleak picture of America, his composure in the video is slightly surprising. Though beneath his cool temperament, it's apparent that his vision of "American Carnage remains. It's also concerning that Bannon does not seem to have a solution for the issues he describes since he is now a major influence on American policy.

In the same clip, Bourdain shared an anecdote that's representative of another issue facing the American workforce: the idea that many white Americans consider certain jobs beneath them. "I was an employer for 20 years as a chef," Bourdain said. "I cannot think of a single time an American-born kid ever walked into my restaurant, any restaurant I ever worked in, and asked for a job as a dishwasher, a cleanup person, or even an entry-level prep cook." Many Americans think they are "too good" for certain jobs, Bourdain said.

Bannon appeared to agree with Bourdain's suggestion - which is interesting, considering Trump's administration, led by Bannon, is so hellbent on ridding the United States of immigrants.

Bizarrely, deGrasse Tyson seems to predict Trump. Referring to Congress's inability to consistently agree, deGrasse Tyson suggests a "business person who knows how to make a hard but significant financial decision" be in charge. Welp, be careful what you wish for.

7 Upsides to a Yearly "Remote-Work Month"

In the ongoing discussion about work-life balance, many companies are learning that employees still crave far more "life" than they're getting with all their work. Some companies, such as Domain.ME, have even discovered that an entire month of paid travel time, or a "remote-work month," can hugely benefit both employees (who get to see the world, chase adventure, relax with family) and the company itself, when people return from their month away with a renewed sense of creativity and calm.

We asked Natasa Djukanovic, CMO of Domain.ME based in Montenegro, for her thoughts on this policy and - perhaps unsurprisingly - there are a lot of upsides to the idea. Find out why you might want to advocate for the chance to work from a beach chair in Mallorca for one whole month per year.

Taking a break from the office during a slow period just makes sense.

According to Djukanovic, August in Montenegro is so hot and business is so slow, it no longer made sense for everyone to stay in the office, sluggishly toiling away. "Our business is internet-based most of the time, so on an August day that was far too hot we realized that we should be somewhere else. We created a policy that we can work from wherever we want to go as long as everything is done. That's how August remote-work month started."

Extended travel is fun and feasible with this kind of setup.

As long as you have some kind of internet connection and check in occasionally, Djukanovic says, the rest of your remote-work time belongs to you. This year, she started with a week-long cruise along the Croatian islands. "After that, I went to my place on the Montenegrin coast for the rest of the month. The most important part is to be accessible online and responsive, especially in the evenings when our US partners are working. The nice part is that answering emails in a swimming suit in between dips in the pool is easy!"

Employees are refreshed by new adventures and a change of scenery.

Even if employees aren't fully on vacation, the change in scenery and fresh experiences can still do a world of good. For Djukanovic, "sunbathing and swimming gave me a feeling that I was far away from everything and I got refreshed easily. But it also allowed me to come back at night to the computer with new ideas, fresh perspectives, and new understandings."

The toll of working too much without a significant break can be devastating.

Everyone knows that the stress of working too much can take a serious toll on your health and mental well-being. A month away from the office could even be seen as a preventive health measure, decreasing employees' risks for a wide variety of health problems. As Djukanovic describes it, "You see us in May and June when we have too much on our minds and we're robots - just finishing everything without much creativity, overwhelmed and tired. Most of the year, all of us work 50-60 hours a week, and that has a price. Taking a break like this gives us not just rest, but also refreshment and a new influx of creativity."

Companies benefit from employees' surge in creativity and energy when they return.

What company wouldn't want an office full of invigorated workers, brimming with creative ideas? Djukanovic returned to the office feeling energized and "like everything is new, like when you see things from the distance and everything is much clearer."

Plans and goals come into razor-sharp focus.

The benefits of taking the remote-month are profound and long-lasting, as employees are revved up to make changes and long-term plans. "You should just see us talking in September, planning new things," Djukanovic says. "I usually make new plans for the rest of the year and the next year in September."

Happy, rested employees are more likely to stay with their company.

"If you're asking your employees to be creative and do their jobs with enthusiasm, you have to give them enough time to rest. We want to have the best people working for us, and we want to keep them happy and willing to stay."

"The first Olive Garden restaurant opened in Orlando in 1982."

The soups are made fresh every morning.

Why 1 Mom Called Out a Sephora Employee After Shopping With Her Self-Conscious Teen Daughter

Even the most seasoned beauty pro can feel a little intimidated by the product-packed wonderland that is Sephora. Add insecurities into that mix, and what should be a simple shopping trip can be a seriously stressful one. A mom in Windsor, Ontario, took to Spotted In to share how a recent visit to Sephora could have gone that way for her self-conscious teen daughter, but the mother-daughter duo left the store with renewed confidence.

"My daughter is 15 years old is having a very hard time with her self-esteem," explained the mother, who disclosed that her child is being bullied for her appearance - including her hair, skin, and eyebrows - at school. "It breaks my heart to say that this bullying has convinced my beautiful daughter that she is ugly, and her formerly outgoing and peppy personality has dimmed."

In order to help her feel more comfortable at school, this mom (reluctantly) took her on a trip to Sephora to buy a few beauty products. "I was against this at first, but if there was a possibility of it boosting her confidence, I decided it would be alright," she said. After a bit of browsing, the two were approached by a petite blond sales associate, Shayna - someone who looks like the girl's bullies in school - who asked if she could provide any assistance.

"Both myself and my daughter sometimes feel intimidated in this store," the mother admitted. "The girls are often made up beautifully, they exude confidence . . . for someone new to makeup, or someone with pre-existing self-esteem issues, it's easy to feel somehow inferior, regardless of their sunny disposition," she said. "This time, I was blown away."

Not only did Shayna help them shop, but according to this one happy mom, she went above and beyond the duties of the average sales associate by making her daughter feel comfortable and confident. "She pointed out the areas that my daughter has been most insecure about lately . . . and expressed how beautiful she thought they were," gushed the mother. "SERIOUSLY girl, are you psychic???"

She went on, "They talked about what had been going on at school, self-confidence, what truly makes a person beautiful, and how makeup is just something to enhance your natural beauty. These are things I've been trying unsuccessfully to convey."

While not everyone can expect to experience such a heartwarming moment during their next visit to Sephora, it inspires us to know that there are sales associates at the beauty retailer that are incredibly helpful, especially in young women's times of need. Read the heartwarming post below in full.

44 Disney Cruise Hacks You Need to Know Before Sailing

We've all got it wrong, because the happiest place on earth is not a Disney park, but a Disney cruise. Yep, I said it. I love Disneyland and Disney World as much as the next Disney devotee, but there are some drawbacks to the parks (like hordes of people, inescapable heat, and long lines) that you just don't deal with while sailing blissfully on blue seas. I recently took the Disney Fantasy's Western Caribbean trip for seven nights, and while I went in a little hesitant about the whole affair, my skepticism about being on board a ship with thousands of people - many of whom barely reached my waist - was checked at the entrance of the ship and buried deeper as the days went by.

Disney fans, book your cruise ASAP. Non-Disney fans, book your Disney cruise ASAP, because you can embrace Disney entirely aboard the ship or avoid it, and still have a VIP experience either way. Star Wars buffs, book your cruise on the Fantasy and have a special day at sea that biggest fans can only dream of.

You'll Want to Watch This Mesmerizing Supernova Flash GIF Over and Over Again

NASA scientists captured images of a supernova, or an exploding star, for the first time on March 21, 2016 and we are totally transfixed by the video. While NASA has been able to see supernovae for some time, they were only capable of obtaintaing video of the ephemeral flash by monitoring 500 galaxies every 30 minutes for three years. And we're so elated they did.

Scientists used a Keplar space telescope to catch the star as it burst - it's the same telescope that has successfully discovered thousands of other planets. The supernova in the video, technically named KSN 2011d, is a red supergiant, which has the greatest volume of all the star classifications though they are not the biggest stars in size. Supergiants are also considered to be some of the most luminous stars - and that's definitely apparent here! Keplar was able to spot KSN 2011d's 20-minute blast, despite being 1.2 billion light years away. We're not exactly sure how far away that is, but we're positive Google Maps cannot get you there. The discovery is a monumental step in dissecting the life cycle of stars and it's especially indicative of how different classifications of stars end their life cycles. As NASA analyzes its findings, we're just going to sit mesmerized by the supernova's explosion. Maybe after several hundred loops we'll watch this video of two black holes colliding.

All the Times We've Seen Chelsea Handler's Boobs - So Far

Chelsea Handler has basically been living in a topless version of Green Eggs and Ham - much like Sam I Am, she'll go topless on a house, with a mouse, in a box, or near a fox (and even at the top of the Twitter offices). The comic and former Chelsea Lately host has been challenging Instagram's nudity guidelines by posting photos and videos of herself sans shirt over the past two years, and though she has come under fire for the racy snaps (a few of them caused her account to be suspended), there's really nothing that will stop the notoriously outspoken star from baring her boobs on social media.

However you feel about Chelsea, her brand of comedy, or her breasts, you have to admit that her topless photos are way more funny than they are scandalous - seriously, standing on top of a snow-covered mountain with no shirt on? Is it really that much more outrageous than Kim Kardashian posing on a snow-covered mountain in a fur bikini? We've rounded up all the times that Chelsea has flashed boob at us - keep reading to see the NSFW photos now.

One of the Oldest American Horror Story Theories Might Be Legit

Orly’s New Collection Finally Makes It Possible For Muslims to Wear Nail Polish

Many Muslim men and women are not able to wear regular nail polish because it conflicts with prayer practices. The coats of polish are believed to create a barrier over the skin, which prevents water from touching every part of the body during ablutions, but Orly's new polish collection offers a solution. In an effort to bridge the diversity gap in the beauty world, the polish brand has teamed up with Muslim Girl to release a new collection of six halal-certified polishes, all of which let oxygen and moisture pass through the polish.

The Breathable line called #HalalPaint features adorably sassy polish names like Haram-Bae, The Perfect Amani-Cure, What the Fatima?, Ig-Noor the Haters, and more, named by MuslimGirl.com founder Amani Al-Khatahtbeh and the Muslim Girl team.

"This line is important because there are so many girls and young women who aren't represented in mainstream beauty," Azmia Magane, Muslim Girl chief of staff, said in a press release. "They either don't fit that definition or see things about them that are designed without them, instead of for them and by them. This is our way of bridging the gap."

And this collection is exactly that and more. While it's created by Muslim women for Muslim women, all women (or men!) can wear it. In addition to the polishes being made of 100 percent halal ingredients, making them permitted under Islamic law, they are made with great ingredients - like argan oil, pro-vitamin B5, and vitamin C - to promote healthy nails.

"Many of us are the girls who could never find our names on a keychain, so we wanted to make sure we provided that experience through the collection," Al-Khatahtbeh said. This collection is an incredible way to acknowledge the diverse religions that also exist in the beauty world. Although the polishes were made for Muslim women, anyone can wear them!

The six-piece collection is available for preorder on halalpaint.com for $49 and will ship on July 1. Keep reading to see photos of the stunning colors.

Missouri State Congressman Claims "Homosexuals" and "Human Beings" Are Different

Believe it or not, there is an American congressman who genuinely does not understand the definition of human being. Missouri state Representative Rick Brattin, revealed that he believed there is a "distinction" between human beings and people who are gay during a debate over a bill protecting the state's LGBTQ community from discrimination.

In Missouri, citizens can legally be discriminated against based on their sexual orientation. On May 8, state legislators attempted to pass an amendment banning sexual-orientation-based prejudice when Brattin expressed his concern over the proposal.

"When you look at the tenets of religion, of the Bible, of the Quran, of other religions, there is a distinction between homosexuality and just being a human being," Brattin told the House floor. According to The Kansas City Star, Brattin has yet to clarify his statement, although it aligns with his previous push for teaching creationism in public schools.

Brattin's inadequate understanding of elementary biology is not the first time he's demonstrated his supreme ignorance. He was also one of the notorious congressmen who once tried to establish a differentiation between "rape" and "legitimate rape" as it related to an antiabortion bill he proposed. The bill would have required pregnant women to receive the father's written consent before obtaining an abortion except in cases of "legitimate rape" (whatever that means).

Adding insult to injury, the Missouri state legislature passed Senate Bill 43, a law that would make it harder to sue for discrimination. It would force citizens to explicitly prove that bias lead to a dismissal rather than just contributing to it. The fate of the bill now depends on Republican Governor Eric Greitens.

Miley Cyrus Will Win You Over With Her Wedding Dress

I don't know when or if Miley Cyrus is getting married. While Billy Ray Cyrus posted a photo that suggests she and Liam Hemsworth tied the knot, it hasn't been confirmed. Maybe Miley isn't even thinking about marriage. But in my imaginary world, she walks down the aisle in a pretty spectacular wedding dress. You see, ever since I was young, I looked at Miley as someone who represented versatility. She played two different characters on Hannah Montana, and my younger sister plastered posters of Miley all over her walls, some in which she was dressed up like Hannah, others in which she was just herself in jeans and a three-quarter-sleeved tee. But even when she was just being Miley, the actress and singer looked unique and a little bit quirky.

She's gone through many stages, but there has never been a time when Miley's paid attention to trends. During her rise to fame, she wore flares and cowboy boots, maybe because they were representative of where she came from: Franklin, TN. Post-breakup with Liam Hemsworth (the two have rekindled their relationship), Miley kind of went HAM with her wardrobe. And I liked it. What she wore, or didn't wear, was all a part of her personal revolution.

Miley's style at this point could basically be described as costume like. She dressed as a twerking teddy bear and supported LGBT rights in rainbows and big, furry coats. Then, at the 2015 Met Gala, the industry's elite gathered on the red carpet, but Miley stood alone in a cutout Alexander Wang gown. It ended up on some "worst dressed" lists, but I think it was my favorite outfit of the night. It didn't seem like Miley was trying to appear sexy or edgy but just to look like herself.

So now, as outsiders speculate on whether Miley and Liam got hitched, I can't help but to imagine her would-be bridal look. I doubt Miley Cyrus's wedding dress will be all white. It might be neon, a mix of colors, or come with an inflatable skirt. Miley might not wear a wedding dress at all, should she get married. Maybe she'll go naked. She did reveal on the Today show that she prefers to stay out of the fashion conversation: "I don't want people to talk about what I'm wearing. That's usually why I don't wear too much," she said.

One thing's for sure: if Miley Cyrus gets married, her look won't include a ballgown so glamorous that everyone focuses on the pretty (or crazy!) details. They won't be talking about The Dress, because god knows it won't be wearing her. It'll be all about Miley. Read on to see why we know Miley will hit it out of the park on her special day.

19 Uber and Lyft Secrets, Straight From an Anonymous Driver

I spoke to an anonymous man who started driving for a living in 2014 and works for both Uber and Lyft. He has experience driving passengers throughout New Jersey and shared all of the insider secrets he's learned - but most passengers don't realize. Here are his tell-all details about Uber and Lyft and what you need to know before requesting your next ride.

1. The ratings you give seriously matter to drivers.

"If you rate us less than five stars, it's as if you're asking the company to fire us slowly. Drivers are deactivated if their rating falls below 4.5 or 4.6."

2. No matter what, you will get rated and what drivers say about you is important too.

Drivers have to rate you before they can pick up the next ride, and the driver will definitely deduct stars if you make them wait or are unpleasant. "If a passenger rating falls below 4.5, many drivers will be hesitant to pick them up. If your rating is below 4.0, it will become more difficult to get a ride at busy times. New drivers don't pay attention to ratings, but give them a couple of months of bad passengers and they all start paying attention."

3. There's a guaranteed way to get rated five stars.

Although this isn't an official company policy, if you tip in cash instead of through the app, your driver will always give you five stars.

4. Tips especially matter when you ride-share.

Tips are even more important when you pool or ride-share because drivers don't get compensated for the additional stops while the companies profit from them. "Most drivers hate Uber Pool and Lyft Line. The driver is paid as if he only took one ride although it's actually a longer ride because you're picking up and dropping off passengers as if you're a bus. For example: a driver picks up a passenger on Uber Pool and that passenger is charged $12. The driver then gets another request to pick up someone else and their ride is also $12. The driver only earns for their time in miles, so he or she could only make $5 (if nobody tips) on the ride while Uber got $24."

5. Despite what people think, drivers have to follow the same laws - and won't get in trouble for you.

Some drivers have dash cameras in their car recording the rides, so if you refuse to put on your seat belt in the back, break open-container laws, or try to get away with not having a car seat and their car gets pulled over, they can show the cops and you'll be the one to get a ticket instead of the driver.

6. Your driver talks about you.

There are a variety of closed Facebook groups for Uber and Lyft drivers from different communities. Although this can be a great resource for advice and connections, it's also a platform for drivers to vent about their awful customers and post pictures from cringe-worthy experiences.

7. Some drivers actually like it when you cancel.

After you've requested a ride and your driver is en route, you'll typically be charged a $5 cancellation fee. Although Uber keeps a percentage of it, Lyft gives it all to the drivers. "Some drivers prefer the cancellation fee to a local ride because at the current rates you make the same money for not driving the passenger as you do for driving the passenger."

8. If you leave something, you might not get it back - but not because it was "stolen."

If someone leaves something in the car, it's usually "a big pain in the butt" for the driver because they often go out of their way to return something without the person tipping or even saying thank you. "Many drivers will simply dispose of whatever a passenger leaves in the car including cell phones, keys, and wallet. This is because they're tired of going out of their way and losing money to return an item to someone who will not compensate them for their time and effort. A driver can't get into trouble if they 'can't' locate something that you lost, but new drivers will usually go out of their way to return lost items - but after they're burned several times, they no longer do it."

9. However, there's a way to pretty much guarantee that your stuff will be returned if you forgot it.

It all comes down to that cash tip again. "Drivers do remember the passengers who tip in cash because they are few and far between. Those people are far more likely to have their items returned, but if a passenger is rude or disrespectful, they will certainly never see their item again."

10. You're most likely driving with a new employee.

What they call the "churn rate" or turnover is very high among drivers. The majority of drivers on the road are doing this job less than six months and will most likely quit before the end of the year because they are operating at a loss.

11. You're doing more than just wasting their time when you make them wait.

Drivers pretty much don't get paid when you make them wait, only $0.10 a minute in most markets, so you really are impacting their bottom line.

12. Drivers aren't making as much as you think.

"Both Uber and Lyft give upfront prices to passengers that can be as much as 60 percent higher than the amount your driver receives. The payout per mile in New Jersey is approximately $0.65 to the driver."

13. Drivers hate traffic just as much as you do.

When you're stuck in traffic, drivers only get $0.10 a minute (and in some markets less) for the additional wait time, so don't think they are secretly trying to hit traffic or aren't just as annoyed because they're getting something out of it.

14. Drivers "salivate" for surge and primetime rides.

When Uber and Lyft charge riders more because of higher demands is when drivers have a chance to make considerably more money. The app will show drivers where surge zones are on the map, and if the surge is two times the price, that's how much more the driver will earn. "Many experienced drivers will only work the surge and won't take anything at the regular rates because they are too low to actually make money. These drivers learn their market and know when it's likely to surge. These experienced drivers study this to get an idea of when it's likely to surge."

15. When you try to scam the company, you're really just scamming the driver.

"Passengers have figured out that if they rate the driver poorly and complain about the ride to Uber or Lyft, they will get credit for a free ride. Many drivers have fallen victim to passengers who are scamming for a free ride and not only does it affect the driver's star rating, but sometimes Uber will take the money back and a driver will have to argue to get paid."

16. The company plays dirty.

"I started with Lyft in April 2014 and then I was 'sloged' by Uber a week later. 'Operation slog' was what Uber called their program to recruit Lyft drivers and generally harass Lyft by requesting rides and then canceling them. An Uber corporate representative requested a ride on Lyft when Lyft was giving out free rides during their lunch. This representative got in my car and offered me $1,000 to do one ride on the Uber platform and then guaranteed me $40 per hour for the next two months. He said that he didn't want me to stop driving for Lyft but every time I turned off Uber to take a Lyft ride I would be losing money."

17. Having both apps can save you money.

"Passengers should have both apps because Uber surges more often than Lyft so during times of surge, they can check each app to see which one has a better price. Uber surges more often than Lyft, so at those times it would behoove the rider to choose Lyft."

18. One company is definitely better than the other - at least to this driver.

"Lyft is also a socially conscious company that donated free rides to breast cancer patients to go for their chemo, donated free rides through Dress for Success to help women in need get to job interviews, and has a program where for every dollar a passenger tipped in the app, they donated $1 to Meals on Wheels. That's just a small example of the type of socially responsible things that Lyft has done compared to the ethically questionable things that Uber has done over the years."

19. You're getting a good deal, so there's no need to complain about it and ruin a driver's day.

"Uber rates in most markets are about what it cost in 1974 to take a taxi in New York City. I think that's pretty damn cheap, and it doesn't get much cheaper than that to have someone pick you up in a clean car. We have a lot of passengers behaving badly or treating us poorly and it's become a major problem."

What Really Drives Airbnb Hosts Crazy

The best Airbnb hosts aim to make their places feel like your home away from home, so you should treat it that way. Unfortunately, that's not always the case.

I've been renting out my home for the past year, and a few common guest habits get under my skin.

I've been renting out my home while I travel for the past year and just received "Superhost" status, which means the majority of my guests have had positive experiences. And overall, I've been pleasantly surprised by how friendly and responsible my guests have been. Still, sometimes a few common guest habits get under my skin. If you want to keep your guest profile positive, you'd be smart to avoid these bad habits. Unlike hotels, guests on Airbnb get reviewed, too. And hosts might consider them when deciding whether or not to approve you for your stay.

I recently chatted with fellow Superhost Sara Combs to compare our pet peeves. Combs rents out beautiful spaces in Joshua Tree, CA, and loves being an Airbnb host. But thanks to two years doing it, she also has some helpful insight for guests trying to make the best impression. Check out our list of seven things that drive an Airbnb host crazy, as well as one thing you can do to really impress them.

1. Disrespecting the Neighbors or the Surroundings

As a host, one of the biggest challenges I've had is making sure my guests don't disturb my downstairs neighbors. I try to handle this by leaving a sign by my front door asking people to remove their shoes and reminding guests when they check in to be mindful of the noise. So when I get a text from my neighbors at 2 a.m. asking for my guests to turn down their music, my heart sinks.

"Airbnb offers an amazing opportunity to travel and feel like a local," Combs points out. With that in mind, you should be mindful of the locals you may interact with. "It's especially important to respect neighbors and sound levels, as well as leaving the local environment the same or better than how you found it."

2. Failing to Read Check-in Instructions and Other Information

Hosts put a lot of time into writing and updating their instruction manuals for their guests and do their best to make check-in smooth. Sometimes guests miss the memo. I'll never forget the guest who showed up at my place at 2 a.m. and simply called my cell phone to tell me she was at my front door ready to be let in. Never mind the fact that my front door has a keypad lock and I had sent the codes earlier that week. My guest hadn't even bothered to read my basic check-in message.

On the flip side, it makes a great impression when you do take the time to read what a host has put together for you, as Combs explains: "We're incredibly appreciative when guests do read the details of our listing or our check-in email before asking questions. We're always happy to answer questions, but guests make us feel particularly respected when they read what we've taken the time to send them first."

3. Waiting Until the Review to Complain About Fixable Issues

While hosts hope you read their instructions before contacting them, they also want you to know the lines of communication are open. It's not fun to read a critique in a review when you know you could have easily resolved it and improved your guest's stay. For example, I had one guest complain in the review that I only provided one towel per person. While that seemed reasonable to me for a four-day stay, I would have happily let her know where she could find more towels if she had asked me when she arrived. The best guests let us know if there's something they want or need, and we can almost always accommodate their request. Don't be shy!

4. Breaking the House Rules

Airbnb hosts think hard about house rules, which may include a ban on smoking, events, or even young children staying in the home. Since they are clearly visible on the listing description and right before you book your stay, there is really no excuse for violating them.

5. Misleading Your Host About What You Plan to Do With the Space

"We've noticed a recent trend of bookings that mention just relaxing with friends, and upon check-in a whole crew arrives for a photo shoot," Combs says. She finds it frustrating when companies view her Airbnb listings as free locations to promote their goods. "We really appreciate honesty about true intentions for a booking," she continues, "and do offer a reasonable location fee for those looking to use the house for profit."

I love when guests are completely transparent with me. I've had one who told me she planned to host Thanksgiving dinner in my place, which was totally fine, but also good to know in case any issues came up with noise. If you plan to use a rented Airbnb for something other than sleeping, relaxing, and eating meals with other registered guests, you should tell your host before you book.

6. Lying About the Number of Guests

Some hosts have an additional charges for extra guests. So don't be sneaky and mark only four guests when you really plan on having five. If you do, the host might not be prepared for additional laundry or cleaning that comes with extra guests. Also, if something comes up and a friend has to crash, just let your host know. They'll appreciate it.

7. Expecting 24/7 Hotel-Level Service

There's no denying that hotels offer more service. You can have a concierge make reservations for you, expect your room to be cleaned each day, call the front desk if a neighbor is making too much noise, and get help carrying your bags up to your room. When you're staying at an Airbnb, you trade some of those comforts for a more authentic experience. But that means you may have to deal with the realities of living in your own place, like buying toilet paper if it runs out and researching logistics on your own. It can be frustrating as a host when a "needy" guest contacts you constantly about things they could Google themselves or expects you to make very specific things materialize. Let's just say it drives hosts crazy when you call them after 11 p.m. to ask how the washing machine works when you could read it in their house manual.

One tip to make it feel more like a hotel: if you're staying for more than a week, ask your host if they might be able to arrange a cleaning for you midstay. They might even throw it in free of charge.

The One Thing They Love: When You Leave a Personal Touch

"We've had so many wonderful guests over the years and have even become great friends with some of them," says Combs. Her mind is always blown when guests leave a gift, which may include a bottle of wine, a chocolate bar from their country, or a drawing they did while at the house. In my experience, I've also noticed the best guests will try to connect on a personal level, either asking where I bought a piece of furniture they loved or letting me know they enjoyed a tourist recommendation I made. That feels like the best of Airbnb: only good surprises.

Before and After Photos of California's Drought Are Staggering to See

California looks a bit unfamiliar to residents these days: following historic rainfall, the state's landscape has bloomed, bringing life to its formerly brown hills dogged by drought. On April 7, California Governor Jerry Brown officially lifted the state's emergency water provisions, thus declaring an end to a record-breaking drought.

Brown, who's been particularly critical of President Donald Trump's climate policies, declared an end to the water restrictions he imposed in January of 2014. "This drought emergency is over, but the next drought could be around the corner," Governor Brown's statement read. "Conservation must remain a way of life."

California's six-year drought had reached unprecedented levels by the Spring of 2015. According to the United States' drought monitor, more than 30 percent of California was experiencing exceptional drought; at its peak, between 2012 and 2015, the drought emptied groundwater reservoirs, which ultimately forced Brown to implement restrictions for farmers and citizens.

Now recovering, the Sierra Nevada mountain range has also witnessed a massive revival: its snowpack levels are currently 160 percent above average for this time of the year.

California's rainfall is certainly a reason to celebrate, but as Brown warned, it isn't evidence disproving the existence of climate change (as the new EPA director believes).

Ahead, see a series of images comparing the drought from 2014 and 2017; the photos on top are from the height of the drought and the ones right below are from present-day California.

25 Back-of-the-Neck Tiny Tattoos to Inspire Your Next Ink

There are certain tattoo spots that just seem to work best with small, minimalistic ink: the wrist, the ribs, the ankle, and, of course, the back of the neck.

A relatively small canvas, the back of the neck offers an ideal spot for little ink art that may look out-of-place against larger areas of the body. And while any tattoo will come with a certain level of pain, this spot is considered to be one of the less-painful spots, making it a friendly first-time canvas.

Additionally, back-of-the-neck tattoos are easily covered with hair, scarves, or collared shirts, so it's an ideal choice if you don't want an overtly visible piece. When you are looking to show off your ink, opt for an updo or side-fishtail braid to complement your art.

To inspire you to consider the back of the neck for your next (or, hey, first) tattoo, we've picked some of our favorite looks from Instagram.

How to Prepare Your Child (and Yourself) For Preschool

Your child's first day of preschool is a momentous occasion for you both! For your little one, it's the first time they've been in a structured school setting, learning all the new skills it requires. For you, it might be the first time you've left them with anyone other than a family member or trusted babysitter in the comfort and safety of your own home. In short, it can be overwhelming and a bit scary for you both. But a little preparation can make all the difference in how smoothly that first day (or week or month) goes.

Follow these preschool tips, and you and your child will both be preschool-ready!

  1. Host some group playdates. Much of your child's preschool success relies on their ability to socialize in groups. Get them practicing now by inviting some similarly aged children over for playtime. Observe how your child interacts with others to see what skills (like sharing, shyness, or patience) your kid needs to work on.
  2. Establish a daily schedule. Having a basic schedule and routines - especially for mornings and bedtimes - at home helps your child prepare for preschool's structure and orderly day.
  3. Talk about what he can expect. Talking with your child about what their teachers and classroom look like, how many children they'll have in their class, and some of the activities they can expect to be doing during school will help calm any nerves.
  4. Don't make goodbyes a bigger deal than she does. If preschool is the first time your child has ever been separated from you, she might be anxious about when you'll return . . . or whether you'll return at all. Make sure she knows moms always come back, then make your goodbye outside of the classroom short and sweet. A quick hug, "see you soon," and wave is sufficient. Anything more will make the separation a bigger deal to her than it needs to be. Also, most preschools will discourage carrying your child into or out of school; walking in makes them feel like a big kid, not your baby.
  1. Work on reading, listening, and following directions. Reading to your child every day not only builds their vocabulary and encourages them to use their imagination, it also helps them practice the preschool-necessary skill of listening and sitting still. Also, give your child small jobs like taking their shoes off and storing them in a certain place or cleaning up their toys will help them learn to follow directions from you and hopefully their teachers.
  2. Work on fine motor skills. Work on craft projects involving gluing, cutting, and coloring; encourage your child to move small objects from one container to another; and check out these other easy ways to encourage the fine motor skills they'll be using in school.
  3. Take advantage of school tours and meet-the-teacher night. Most preschools will offer kids and parents the opportunity to tour the school and meet the teachers before the first day of school. Attending these events will allow your child to explore and become comfortable with the new environment, with you there as backup.
  4. Don't overprepare. If you start building up preschool months in advance and talking about it constantly, by the time the first day of school rolls around, your child might be completely overwhelmed. Keep your conversations about preschool casual and fun (i.e. "your teacher's name is Mrs. Ferris and she's so nice" or "there's your new school; see the fun playground?" while driving by) and don't start that until a few weeks before the term starts. Then your child can get excited and know what to expect without too much pressure.
