Here's Lorde Singing "Bloody Mother F*cking Assh*le," Because We All Need It

On Friday, Lorde performed at Osheaga, a star-studded music festival that sweeps through Montreal. In addition to most likely performing some of the best songs from her exquisite new album, Melodrama, the New Zealand songstress also took a moment to whip out a pretty badass cover. As it started to rain - which only serves to heighten to magic of it all, in my opinion - Lorde sang Martha Wainwright's "Bloody Mother F*cking Assh*le." If you couldn't tell from the title, the song is pretty exceptional in its own right. As an added bonus, it also appeared on the soundtrack for Big Little Lies, which had critics and viewers alike raving earlier this year. Listen above to confirm what we now know to be true: Lorde was born to cover this one.

Selena Gomez's Sexiest Dresses Never Leave You Wanting More

Let's get one thing straight: Selena Gomez is sexy. When I watched her perform at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in 2015 just a few rows away from the stage, I thought, "OK, she is absolutely the most beautiful celebrity I have ever seen in person." While the 24-year-old songstress has the option of dressing to show off her every curve, baring cleavage and flaunting her legs in a short hemline at the same time, her signature look - which she's defined with the help of stylist Kate Young - puts a modest hold on sexy.

Selena's most striking looks show skin, but in small amounts at a time. Perhaps you sneak a peek of side boob when she lifts her arms or you see a slip of thigh as she climbs the stairs in a slitted gown. Selena does not put her entire body on display; she finds easy, effortless ways to flatter her best assets. When you scroll through the photos ahead, you'll see exactly what I mean. These are the sexiest dresses Selena has ever worn, most simply because they're just a touch revealing, and they never leave you wanting more.

I am 32 and I Do Not Have My Sh*t Together

This post originally appeared on Medium.

I woke up this morning, and realized I still do not have my shit together. 32 years later.

I don't know how and if I am going to stay in the US, under which visa.

I don't make any money from my writing, and I want to be a writer.

I don't know how to work in corporations anymore.

I have been having health issues, and I have no insurance.

I looked at the people in my life and they seem to have it all together. Including babies.

I wanted to sob, but that would mean it will make me look even more of a mess, and will drive people away.

Today is a hard day. For some of us, it is hard to get over it and move on.

Today is the day, when I want to release the shame that is trapping me, and tell you that I do not have my sh*t together, and it is OK.

Today I allow myself to be a mess, and see what is there. Maybe I will find the freedom I have been seeking all this time.

If you think you do not have your sh*t together, I am here to tell you that it is OK. That you are allowed to. That the system we live in, that favors wealth and status, is not designed for some of us. And we have to fight a harder fight. To be an artist these days is an act of heroism.

I am with you in your scattered mess. And I love you. And you are my hero.

28 Amazing Music Collaborations That Rocked Your World

All right, let's get real, while you and I knew Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee's "Despacito" from the minute it came out in 2016, the rest of the world really (and we mean really) embraced the song in full force once Justin Bieber became a featured artist in it. This got us thinking about the other music collaborations that have really changed our lives and sent songs by Latinx artists to the top of the charts. Here are 25+ of the best out there, featuring voices from Shakira to Gloria Estefan with a famous guest or two.

Game of Thrones Theories Are Cool, but Hot Pictures of Dickon Tarly Are What's Up

All "Dickon" jokes aside, the younger Tarly brother on Game of Thrones is certainly easy on the eyes. Played by British actor Tom Hopper, the role of Dickon was recast from one sexy star (Freddie Stroma) to another for the show's seventh season. In the latest episode, Dickon saves Jaime midbattle by stabbing a Dothraki warrior, but the jury's out on what his fate might be after that wild battle. For now, we're just paying tribute to all the glorious Dickon moments that have popped up so far - and if you're wondering why his armor seems so bulky, we're pretty sure it's just because Tom Hopper's muscles are insane.

Things Got Awkward When 1 Girl Told Her Teacher Her Dad Has "Lots of Weed" at Home

When Skylar told her teacher that there's "lots of weed at home" and that her dad even grows it, she technically wasn't lying. However, as parents of little kids know, they often say the darnedest things, and even when they are speaking the truth, you can't always take what they say at face value. Although Skylar was correct in her innocent observations about the abundance of green plants at her home, it was her delivery that left her dad and teacher having an awkward conversation.

"Weed is not good for you and we have a lot of it," Skylar said in a video captured by her dad, Dax Holt, as they discussed the incident. Dax shared the video of their chat on Facebook with the perfect caption.

My child's teacher: "So Skylar tells me you guys have a ton of weed at home."
Me: "Umm."
Teacher: "She said you're growing it."
Me:

When Dax asked Skylar if she told the school that they have a lot of weed at their house, she very seriously replied, "Yeah, a lot of it. Weed is not good for you because weed is stuff that is grass, but it's not grass because it's weed."

To clear the air, Dax asked her to explain what she meant and to show the camera. With a simple nod of her head, she headed outside and began pointing out weeds in the garden and all around the lawn. Kids certainly have a knack for putting parents in awkward situations!

If You Go Down the Playground Slide With Your Kid, You Need to Stop Right Now

I see it all the time at the neighborhood playground - moms, dads, and grandparents cautiously positioning themselves at the top of a kiddie slide with their toddler in their laps before pushing off and sliding the short distance back to the ground.

I myself have gone down the slide with my kid countless times. When she was barely walking, I considered it a necessary safety measure so she didn't hurt herself on the way down. Now, I occasionally still slide with her just for the fun of it.

Never did I think I was putting my child in danger, and neither did Kristi Broughton, who - after a seemingly innocent day at a local San Francisco park - ended up in the emergency room, watching doctors treat her nearly-3-year-old son Gage's leg.

"I'm surprised more parents don't know this or maybe they do and I just learned, but don't slide with your toddler," she wrote in a Facebook post alongside a photo of her son at the hospital. "Gage now has a broken leg due to this very classic mistake all parents, including myself, do."

As Broughton and I both learned, such injuries are shockingly common. According to The New York Times, orthopedic specialists say they treat a number of toddlers and young children each year with broken legs as a result of riding down the slide on a parent's lap. A study at New York's Winthrop University Hospital found that nearly 14 percent of pediatric leg fractures over an 11-month period involved toddlers riding down the slide with an adult.

It turns out, her son - who was just fitted for a cast he'll wear for the next four weeks - would have actually been safer by himself.

"The weight of me behind him was exactly what made it worse."

"I had him in between my legs sitting in front of me," Broughton told POPSUGAR. "At the very end of the metal slide, the rubber sole of his shoe got caught and stopped but his body kept going, so he twisted his foot underneath him. The weight of me behind him was exactly what made it worse. Instead of him being able to correct his foot, my weight kept it going."

Her doctor confirmed it's a typical way kids at this age suffer leg fractures, and yet most parents are completely unaware that they could be the cause. One trip to my go-to playground all but confirms it.

"I want all parents to know about this because it's something we all do in the thought to keep our children safe," Broughton said. "Little did I know it was much more of a harm to my child."

What Dany's Brilliant Attack on the Lannisters Means For Game of Thrones

And just like that, Daenerys is back in the game. The fourth episode of Game of Thrones season seven sees the Dragon Queen take matters of strategy into her own hands after Tyrion's "clever plans" fail. After three episodes of hanging out in Dragonstone as her allies fall all around her, Daenerys takes Drogon and the Dothraki to attack the Lannister army as they are preparing to deliver their sudden influx of gold, courtesy of the siege on Highgarden, to the Iron Bank.

The move is a wise one for Daenerys to make because instead of raining fire down on King's Landing and the capital's citizens, she targets only the army. In this way, it can be seen as a clean battle with little to no civilian casualties, which is more than Cersei can claim since her first act as Queen is to blow up the Great Sept of Baelor and the surrounding area. Daenerys's attack on the Lannister army will have lasting ramifications for everyone involved. Let's take a look at what this fiery battle will mean for all of Game of Thrones's major players.

Daenerys Has Shown Her Strength

Up until this point, Cersei and her army have had the upper hand. When Euron attacks Daenerys's fleet, Cersei essentially starts the war between herself and the Dragon Queen. Since then, Daenerys has lost all of her major allies in Westeros as the Sand Snakes, the Greyjoy siblings, and the Tyrells all fall to the Lannisters. The Mother of Dragons needs a win, and she gets one by attacking the Lannisters when their guard is down.

By taking the army unaware, she shows both a mastery of strategy and the brute force of her Dothraki army. The people of Westeros have never had to fight anyone like the Dothraki before, and they certainly haven't dealt with dragons firsthand. Daenerys is truly the queen who can make impossible things happen, and by laying waste to the Lannister army so soon after their victory at Highgarden, she proves she's a true threat to the throne and sets up a scenario where she could be seen as a viable option to lead the Seven Kingdoms in the eyes of the people.

Yes, Cersei Can Still Pay Her Debts

Though it wasn't initially clear, the gold from Highgarden was sent ahead of time, so it's safe. The dragon only torched the food and supplies. Daenerys doesn't need gold to win this war, but the Lannister queen does. She's in debt to the Iron Bank, and if she couldn't pay back the money her father borrowed, she wouldn't be able to secure funds to build up her fleet or add more men to her army.

The Dragon Killer Is Destroyed

That fancy giant crossbow Cersei had built to kill Daenerys's dragons is officially gone. Sure, she can have someone rebuild it, but it isn't as effective as she had hoped it would be. The arrow does pierce Drogon's hide, but it doesn't kill him. More importantly, Daenerys will now know to expect to see the weapon on the battlefield and plan accordingly next time. Cersei has just lost the element of surprise.

Jaime May Be a Hostage

Jaime's fate is uncertain at this point, but Tyrion sees Bronn knock his brother into the lake before Drogon's blast of fire can kill him. The Kingslayer may be taken hostage as a result. As Cersei's lover and brother and leader of her Queen's Guard, he could be a valuable bargaining chip for Daenerys.

Tyrion's Loyalties Could Become Conflicted

While he loathes his sister, Tyrion genuinely loves his brother. He also owes him his life. If Jaime survives falling into the water in full armor and is taken hostage by the Dragon Queen, Tyrion's loyalty to Daenerys could be tested. The temptation to set his brother free will be high. After all, a Lannister always pays his debts, and Jaime has a favor to call in.

Daenerys Can Finally Speak to the People of Westeros

So far, Cersei is using fear to gain allies against Daenerys. Had the Khaleesi gone full scorched-earth on King's Landing, then the war would be over, but she would be forced to rule with fear. That's not Daenerys's style. By attacking the Lannister army in a secluded area, she ensures that most of the people who witness the bloody battle are soldiers and not civilians. In the preview for next week, she seems to be giving those who live a chance to join her. If she also makes sure the people in the southern area keep the grain and food supplies that the Lannisters were taking from them, then she will be seen as benevolent.

If she can sway members of the Lannister army over to her side and show the common people that she is a just leader, then she can begin to make inroads with the people of Westeros - and that will be the true key to winning this war.

An Algorithm Can Tell If You're Depressed or Not Just by Looking at Your Instagram Photos

The filter you choose for an Instagram photo might be saying a whole lot more about your mental health than you know. In a new study, a team of researchers created an algorithm that can sift through your photos on the app and predict whether or not you're depressed. The algorithm was correct 70 percent of time and took into account a variety of factors in order to come up with the diagnosis.

The algorithm uses machine learning to learn what makes up a "depressed photo" based on owners of Instagram accounts who had been diagnosed with depression. Though the sample size was small - the study only looked at 166 Instagram users - the algorithm was then able to detect potentially depressed individuals within a set of new users. Specifically the algorithm learned that depressed people usually had photos that had a darker tone, used the Inkwell filter, had fewer individuals in the photos themselves, and had fewer "likes." Happier people, on the other hand, loved using the Valenica filter and included more people in their photos.

While this type of research may seem superfluous, it's important to note that the 70 percent success rate of the algorithm's diagnosis dramatically outperforms the 42 percent success rate that regular doctors have. However, the researchers do express that the study shouldn't be used broadly on anyone's Instagram account. "No guarantee that this would translate to just the average Instagram user," Chris Danforth, the author of the study, said to BuzzFeed. Instead, the researchers suggest that the algorithm could be used as a "blueprint" to screen for depression "in an increasingly digitalized society."
For now, if you do see someone post a troubling post on Instagram, you can anonymously report them. Then, the next time this person opens up an app, they'll see different ways they can seek help, like calling a hotline.

If you or a loved one are in need of any help, the Anxiety and Depression Association of America has several resources here.

We Would "Scream" If This Actress Ends Up Playing Jughead's Mom on Riverdale

Riverdale is full of mystery and darkness, and it's only going to get more intense next season. While there are bound to be plenty of surprises in store as several fresh faces come to town, there are two characters in particular who we are all dying to meet: Jughead's mom (whose name is Gladys in the comic books) and his sister, Jellybean. During Comic-Con, showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa teased that we could meet the mother-daughter duo during the second half of the season. Of course, they're taking their sweet time with casting to make sure they find the perfect fit.

While we're not sure how many young actresses could pull off a 10-year-old who listens to Pink Floyd on vinyl, fans already have the perfect choice for Jughead's mom: Neve Campbell. Not only does she have the Jones family's jet-black hair, but it would also make for one epic Scream reunion with Skeet Ulrich (FP Jones). During the first movie in the horror franchise, the two played star-crossed love interests, which the series has paralleled multiple times with Jughead and Betty's relationship. Like father like son, I guess. And seeing that most of the Riverdale parents are iconic '90s stars - Luke Perry (Fred Andrews) was on Beverly Hills, 90210 and Mädchen Amick (Alice Cooper) was on Twin Peaks - it only seems fitting that Jughead's mom would follow suit.

Joanna's soulful, vintage-loving style is balanced by her admiration for airy color palettes and clean lines, proving that modern farmhouse style can appeal to a wider audience. We've rounded up 22 examples that capture Joanna's signature decorating style. How many of these Fixer Upper design staples resonate with you?

There are plenty of fantasy book series out there just waiting to fill the Game of Thrones void in your life. Of course, one of those series is A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin, the books on which Game of Thrones is based. But you've already read those, right? Right? We're going to assume you have and offer up recommendations for a new batch of fantasy epics that will make your upcoming exile from Westeros so much easier to bear.

We had the small room from Emeryville (the Amtrak station right outside of San Francisco) to Chicago for two days and two nights. After a seven-hour stop in Chicago, we rode the remaining 17 hours of our journey to NYC in coach seats. In total, our tickets for two people came out to $772. Not bad considering we were traveling for three and a half days and our meals were included with the roomette.

To get all the details on what it's like to sleep, eat, and basically live in an Amtrak train while chugging across America, keep reading. There are lots of interesting details that will take you by surprise.

A Look Back at Jessica Alba's Dating History

Before becoming the founder of The Honest Company, Jessica Alba was all over the big and small screens. She first won our hearts as Max Guevara on Dark Angel and went on to star in blockbuster films like Sin City, Fantastic Four, and Good Luck Chuck. Jessica only publicly dated a handful of celebrities during the height of her red carpet days before she settled down and tied the knot. The 36-year-old became a sex symbol when she was just 18 years old, so it's no wonder she grabbed the attention of a few famous dudes ahead.

There's a Secret Island in the Middle of Texas, and It Actually Looks Pretty Awesome

Texas, you're just full of surprises, aren't ya? We were confused by the tiny town of Marfa, which features a Prada store alongside a dirt road, and now we've learned about a secret island situated in the middle of nowhere. Visitors can find Son's Island, a private three-and-a-half-acre paradise, at Lake Placid between New Braunfels and Seguin (about an hour drive from Austin). Here, you can rent one of the 40 lakeside cabanas, kayak, paddleboard, BBQ, camp, and more. It actually looks like a blast based on the photos on Instagram!

The cabanas are available to be rented by individuals, but it's definitely ideal for large groups since they can accommodate up to 15 people. Each Hawaiian-style hut comes with a picnic table, hammock, lounge chairs, BBQ pit, comfortable seating, bar top and stools, water and electricity, and a private swimming/fishing dock. Day rentals ($145 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.) are reserved far in advance, so make sure you snag yours ASAP if you plan to visit.

It's also important to note that Son's Island isn't open all year round. It's only available for use in the Fall (September, October, and November) and Spring and Summer months (March through August), making it the perfect group vacation idea.

See what to expect in the photos ahead!

16 Pictures of Matthew Gray Gubler and Shemar Moore Being Hot Together

Is there a more adorable pair of friends on TV that you can think of other than Shemar Moore and Matthew Gray Gubler on Criminal Minds? The answer is no, so don't even try to come up with anything else. The pair starred on the CBS drama for several years before Shemar exited, but their friendship never strictly stayed on the small screen. Instead, these two have been known to take supercute - and superhot - photos together both on and off set. And what has me, personally, completely stoked is the fact that Shemar will be returning to the show this season, however briefly, so we might just get some new photos of he and Matthew together.

To see just what I'm talking about, look through for 16 of their best snaps together and tell me that that's one friendship sandwich you aren't just dying to be in the middle of.

Get Stronger Every Day With This 100-Burpee Challenge

I was shocked when I walked into CrossFit and the WOD (workout of the day) said "100 Burpees." I had never done that many in my life at one time, and it did not sound fun. I wasn't even sure I'd be able to do it.

But after having gone to CrossFit five times a week for three months, I was in pretty good shape. And guess what? It didn't suck as much as I thought, and it only took me about 10 minutes. The coach said this is a great workout to do in your hotel room while traveling or if you're short on time. My heart was pumping, I was dripping sweat, and my muscles felt worked! Now I'm kind of loving the 100-burpee workout!

I realize this isn't something anyone would want to just jump right into, so here is a four-week plan to get you up to the full 100. Aim to do 25 by the end of the first week, 50 by the second week, and so on until you make it all the way to 100. Follow the plan below. Not ready to commit to a month? We have a two-week burpee challenge for you to try.

How to Do a Basic Burpee

  • Begin standing with the feet hip-distance apart.
  • Lower into a crouching squat with your hands on the floor.
  • Do a squat thrust by jumping your feet back into a plank position.
  • Do one basic push-up, bending the elbows, touching the chest to the floor, and then straightening back to plank.
  • Step or jump the feet forward to the hands and come into a squat.
  • Do an explosive jump straight up, getting as much height as you can.

10 Things You Can Do Today to Be Happy

Let's be honest: when it comes to negative thinking, most of us need to check ourselves before we wreck ourselves. Whether it's traffic on the freeway or the weight we've gained in our arms, we are seasoned vets at focusing our attention on all the things that we wish were somehow better or different.

As a life coach and an inspirational speaker, I am constantly being asked for quick-fix tips for inducing happiness and reducing stress. My answer is always the same: if we want to be happy, we have to learn how to turn the volume down on our negativity and shift our awareness to the parts of our lives that are working, to thoughts and ideas that make us feel inspired and uplifted.

The reason for this is that, unbeknownst to many, negative thinking is the number one cause of unhappiness in humans. That's right. It's not your lack of sleep or your cranky boss that is bringing you down, it's your thoughts about these things that cause you to be less than your naturally exuberant self.

An incredible method for shifting away from the negative and into the positive is an exercise that I call "The Flip Switch." The Flip Switch is a great tool for instant happiness, as well as for kick-starting our brains into the habit of focusing only on the thoughts that make us feel empowered and optimistic. If it is practiced regularly, The Flip Switch will benefit us emotionally, mentally, and also biologically (think endorphins, new neural pathways, and extra serotonin, oh my!) in our quest for happiness.

Application of The Flip Switch: When you find yourself drowning in a downward spiral of negative thoughts - or even just treading water in them! - this list is your life preserver. To stop negativity in its tracks, shift your attention onto one of the activities on the list below for a few minutes (or as long as you feel is necessary) when you first notice negative self-talk start to come up.

  1. Listen to music that you love. Music is an extremely powerful tool for shifting your mood and mindset. Just make sure to choose music that energizes and elates you.
  2. Call someone who understands and supports you. Hearing the voice of someone we love or a friend who gives great advice is always an instant pick-me-up.
  3. Get into nature. My personal favorite. There is nothing that calms and soothes me more than watching a sunset or being on the beach by my house.
  4. Meditate. This is a great go-to when you find yourself already pretty deep in the downward spiral. When we are stuck in negative thought patterns, the first physical shift that occurs is that we stop breathing. Shifting our focus onto our breath causes our minds to slow down and brings immediate relief.
  5. Laugh. Laughter is hands down the best remedy for releasing tension. Watch a silly movie or a YouTube video, or remember a joke that never gets old.
  6. Exercise/get in your body. When we are moving and being active, we shake up energy and shift our focus away from our mind and into our physicality. Even if this means running in place for 30 seconds or doing a silly dance in your office bathroom, I promise you will feel a difference.
  7. Appreciate what is around you. Look around your environment and make a conscious effort to list and appreciate everything in your field of vision that you like. Maybe it's the way the man on the subway is holding his baby, or maybe it's the photo of your parents that you keep on your desk. Negative thoughts cannot enter our minds when we are in a state of appreciation, so appreciate, appreciate, appreciate!
  8. Make a gratitude list. When you feel the onset of negativity, quickly turn your thoughts to everything in your life that you are grateful for. This high-vibe tactic diffuses the negativity and is like a reset button for your brain. I have a list I carry in my wallet of all the things I'm happy about - it's my secret weapon that I pull out and look at when I start to feel down.
  9. Do an act of kindness. Studies have shown that giving to others elevates levels of dopamine in the brain and instantly boots feel-good brainwaves.
  10. Create your own! You know yourself better than anyone. If the items on this list don't particularly invigorate you, just think of the things that make you smile and do that! Eat your favorite food, look at a photograph that reminds you of an awesome vacation . . . Anything that feels good is fair game.

Some items on the list may work better for you than others, so choose the activities that excite you most. You will know when you have successfully "flipped the switch" because you will a) feel better and b) feel much more neutral about the triggering issue that set off the negative thoughts in the first place.

Cheers to your newfound state of bliss, and happy Flipping!

All the Things Meghan Markle Has Done in Her First Year as Royal Girlfriend

This time last year, Prince Harry was - as far as everyone knew - single, and Meghan Markle was known to Suits fans as cheeky paralegal Rachel Zane. However, behind closed doors, the two were in the early stages of their relationship. It wasn't long before the secret was out, however, and Meghan was immediately catapulted into global fame. The pair were first introduced in May 2016 when Harry was in Toronto to promote the 2017 Invictus Games. Their mutual friend Soho House consultant Markus Anderson played cupid, and Harry and Meghan met up again when the actress was in London in July to promote Suits. Things became serious pretty quickly. Take a look at how things have played out since then.

What's the Deal With Greyscale? Let's Investigate

Before she meets her untimely demise, did you ever find yourself rewinding and pausing Game of Thrones to get a better look at Princess Shireen's face full of scales, or Jorah's previously decrepit arm? Then you might be wondering what exactly the deal is with greyscale, the bizarre affliction that plagued Stannis Baratheon's daughter which is now taking over Jorah Mormont's body. Now that greyscale is becoming more relevant, let's take a look at what we actually know about it from the show itself.

What are the symptoms?

The skin becomes rough, gray, and scaly. As George R.R. Martin explains in a featurette about the disease (see below), "It calcifies the skin." At first, it's just a thin patch, but it can consume your whole body. "It's a death sentence," he adds. Gilly also tells Shireen about how when her sisters contracted it, they began to act like animals and didn't sound like themselves anymore. This means that not only is it a physical disease, but it's mental as well. Martin confirmed this, saying if it affects your brain and it brings madness.

Is there a cure?

As he tells Shireen in the fifth season, Stannis had spent a lot of money seeking a cure for her. It takes every healer in the land, but he is able to slow the progress of his daughter's greyscale until it stops. She still has the scales on her face, but she survives. So while it is possible to stop greyscale, it's incredibly difficult, and we don't exactly know what "cure" the healers found for Shireen.

However, whatever Sam does to Jorah at the Citadel works, even though other maesters had tried and failed before. It's some sort of combo of stripping the skin off and applying some kind of salve. We still wonder if dragonglass could be a help, though.

Is it contagious?

Yes, but how it's transmitted isn't fully explained. When attacked by the Stone Men, Jorah yells out to Tyrion to not let them touch him, because they think the disease is spread by physical contact. In fact, it's Jorah who becomes infected - but is it because he's touched, or is it spread another way? In Shireen's case, she exhibits symptoms as a baby after playing with a doll that a trader had brought over from Dorne. Stannis even says that he remembers pressing the doll up to her cheek, where she now has scales.

What happens to people who have greyscale?

Historically, they're quarantined. Gilly tells Shireen about how Craster dragged her sisters into the woods on a rope, and Shireen is locked in her room in the castle for most of her life. The afflicted are often sent to live in a colony in Valyria (where Jorah would have been sent if he hadn't been a knight), and Stannis even tells Shireen that people wanted him to send her to live out the rest of her short life there. The people there, known as the Stone Men, are in the later stages of greyscale.

What do the books say about the origins of greyscale?

According to Martin's series, greyscale originates when the legendary Prince Garin cursed Valyria after its dragons destroyed his army. He asked the river to smite the people, and that night it flooded the towns. Immediately, people began dying of greyscale. In A Dance With Dragons, the fifth book, an infected man says that death from greyscale is slow, between two and five years. Thank God Sam is able to help Jorah - and maybe he can get back to helping Daenerys win the Iron Throne.

7 Other Places You Can See Kit Harington (Besides Game of Thrones)

Jon Snow has been bringing his sexiest smolders to Game of Thrones for seven seasons now. We watched him come back to life, we fawned over his beautiful man bun, and we're pretty sure he deserves the throne more than anyone else. Part of the reason Jon Snow is just so irresistible, though, is because he's played by Kit Harington. Harington's just as hot in real life (if not hotter), and he also smiles way more often. Skip the Store-Bought Stuff and Stir Up a Healthy Homemade Dressing Instead

Your grocery store may seem like a mecca for gourmet salad dressing, but it's easy to get caught up in pretty packaging. The front of the bottle may boast health-conscious mantras, but when you read the label, it's often a very different story. Making your own dressing at home may seem unnecessary, but the freshness and flavors are incomparable; most of the time you just toss a few ingredients in the food processor and blend away.

Try Solving This Math Puzzle That Is Making People Go Crazy on Facebook

Ever wanted to tear your hair out and question everything you've ever learned about math? Well, thanks to the website Brain Dare, you can. The company recently posted a math puzzle to its Facebook page that's made the internet divide into two categories based on answers.

Take a look at the puzzle below and determine your own answer.

Did you get 40? Or 96? Though Brain Dare states that 96 is the correct answer, other users are claiming that both can be correct. Brain Dare figured out its answer with multiplication. To begin, you multiply the first number by the second number. For example, 1 x 4 = 4. Then, add that result to the first number and you'll arrive at the answer after the equal sign; for the first line it's 5.

But some people arrived at the answer 40 sans multiplication. Instead, they just added the answer of the first line (5) to the next one. So, 5 + 2 = 7. Add the 5 in the previous answer and you'll get to the answer 12. If you follow it all the way through, you'll arrive at 40.

People in the comments are arguing about which answer is actually right. Some just want Brain Dare to acknowledge that math puzzles such as these can have two answers. The puzzle is clearly extremely popular, considering the post has more than 2,000 reactions, 7,000 comments, and 2,000 shares. At the POPSUGAR offices, we're also torn and finding these two answers as well.

If you want to drive yourself crazy with another brain teaser, try this one involving fruit from a few months ago.

32 Real Couples Who Gave Up Their Engagement Rings For Tattoos

When Behati Prinsloo first revealed her engagement tattoo - three small dots that run vertically down her ring finger - we were surprised. She admitted to setting aside her diamond in order to get inked with husband Adam Levine, and frankly, we don't know many girls who'd ditch jewelry for a love tat.

But after careful consideration and a bit of research, we realized that the idea behind getting an engagement tattoo is actually pretty sweet. It symbolizes the permanence of the bond between husband and wife, and it's a trend that wasn't just started by Adam and Behati. In fact, we've rounded up 32 real-couple tattoos that take the place of - and even sometimes complement - engagement rings.

Some designs are small and simple; some are bold and reflect some sort of secret message. But one thing's for sure - all of the tattoos here are beautiful and illustrate the strong, unwavering sort of love we'd take over a shining accessory any day. Keep reading to see them all.

On Being Called "Brown Sugar" and "Oprah" in Morocco

It's a truth universally acknowledged that when you complain to an ignorant man about being catcalled, they'll say you should take it as a compliment. And when you further explain that being catcalled abroad is even worse, they'll mansplain to you that it's just the way the culture is and you should just suck it up and expect it if you're going to travel.

I don't recall being whistled at or spoken to like a sexual object much in my youth. I wasn't exactly the ideal standard of beauty in my small town, so it wasn't until I moved away to bigger cities that I realized that this unfortunate act of catcalling was something that could happen to me. And sadly, as I've gotten older and lived in cities such as Los Angeles, London, and New York, it's only gotten worse. I'll never enjoy being on the receiving end of it and certainly do not consider it flattering.

My adventurous nature took me on a trip to Morocco after finding extremely inexpensive flights. It was a country I had heard so much about and just had to figure out if all the hype was justified. Thankfully, I was overjoyed to find out that it exceeded my expectations. Morocco is an intense blend of old and new. The vibrant colors, smells of spices, and old ruins were fulfilling my Indiana Jones fantasies.

In my research, before I arrived, it was made clear that the men of Morocco tended more toward the aggressive side when it came to interactions with women. I had faced many sexual remarks toward me in my travels to other locations but didn't want to go in with a bad attitude about this and have it ruin the trip. From the moment I landed in the North African country, a barrage of physical remarks rained down upon me. My inner angry feminist was enraged.

It's a complicated feeling to want to change the world and how women are treated, but then to try and respect the culture of a country and not go in with a stubborn mind on how things are done. I wanted so badly to stand up for myself, but I also didn't want to cause a scene. I just let it be because I wanted to enjoy my time there, even if it meant feeling tremendously uncomfortable.

I do have to give it to Moroccan catcallers, though, for their creativity. When I'm walking around New York City, I just get a honk and suggestive look from a car as it passes by, or told that I should be smiling by a stranger who thinks he should get to dictate what my face looks like for him. Or I might be trying to innocently enjoy a museum when a security guard comes up to me and whispers right up in my ear in a creepy voice that he thinks I'm pretty. At least in Morocco, I received the borderline sexual harassment compliments with a bit of flair.

Morocco is insanely gorgeous and I don't want to miss out on seeing more of it just because some random guy called me Brown Sugar.

As a curvy black woman, some of my favorite names I've been called in Morocco are Beyoncé, Brown Sugar, Oprah, Bob Marley, and Whoopi Goldberg. I guess in a way I certainly do feel flattered. Beyoncé, Oprah, and Whoopi's careers are literally my life goals, so being compared to them could be considered a bit nice. Brown Sugar feels a little obvious, but at least it's sweet. And traveling with long, thick braids, I guess I was just asking for the Bob Marley comparisons.

I realize that a lot of it has to do with being a marketing tactic to make people pay attention to them and possibly come over to buy their products. The culture is that of hustling as hard as possible to make enough money to support themselves or their families, so I understand that it's all about how to gain new customers. And I'm sure I didn't notice if they were also saying things to men as well since I was in my own head a lot with each new name they called me.

Despite being treated this way, I went back to Morocco a year later and still have plans to go again in the near future. The thing is, it definitely may suck for a woman to have to endure these sexist moments while seeing the world, but the fact of the matter is that Morocco is insanely gorgeous and I don't want to miss out on seeing more of it just because some random guy called me Brown Sugar.

Morocco is still one of my favorite countries I've been to, and the first location I mention when people ask me for suggestions of places to go. The culture may not be the most attractive thing for a Westernized feminist to have to digest, but it's good to get outside of your comfort zone and face those that haven't been brought fully up to speed on how many women don't like to be spoken to. My inner Oprah gives me the serenity to face anything, including being called Oprah by someone who needs to back away five steps and not touch me, please.

The Ultimate Guide to Summer Braids For Black Girls

Ever since I was a little girl, Summer was the time my mother would braid my hair. The styles took hours to create, and, of course, I never quite cooperated (which earned me several hand slaps with the comb). However the intricate cornrows would keep my hair untangled through weeks of swimming and day camp. But Summer braids aren't just reserved for little girls. Many of my friends are still making appointments to get plaits before a big vacation or to take a break from using hot tools for a few months with a protective style. Even Beyoncé and Solange Knowles rock twists when the weather gets warm! From Poetic Justice box braids to Zendaya's famous faux dreadlocks, I've broken down the best braids with extensions for Afro hair this season.
