The 1 Thing You Should Always Have With You When You Fly With Kids

Although airplane pilots do their best to let passengers know when the plane is going to hit a rough patch, turbulence can be somewhat unpredictable and unexpected, which is why the crew always asks that you sit with your seat belt on even when the light is off. However, many airlines don't require children under 2 to even have a seat to themselves, meaning the smallest, most vulnerable passengers could be without proper restraints in the case of unexpected turbulence. This is why Sarah Tilton, Britax's child passenger safety technician and chair of the National Child Passenger Safety Board, says parents should always have a car seat when traveling with their children.

"Having a car seat makes the whole environment less stressful for everyone," Tilton told POPSUGAR. Not only does a car seat mean your child is kept just as safe as they would be in a car, but "the parent is not worrying about trying to hold the child down when they get a little active," which can help to eliminate some behavioral issues.

Additionally, Tilton makes note of the fact that parents can't really be to their children what a car seat can during a flight. "We may be sitting there holding our child with one hand and a drink with another . . . so are we really going to be prepared to hold our child tight when we need to? Turbulence can be so unexpected, so children need to be properly secured."

Besides, as Tilton said, "Our children are our most precious cargo," so why would we not put as much thought into safety on a plane ride as we do every time we strap them securely into the car? To help protect your precious cargo, here are a few of Tilton's tips for flying with a car seat.

  1. Call to make your flight reservation rather than doing it online. Most parents don't want to buy a seat for their child under 2 since it's considered legal by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to travel with them on your lap. "I often tell parents to call the airline to make a reservation to talk to someone about discounts for children under the age of 2," Tilton said.
  2. "If you choose not to purchase a seat for your child, go to the gate with your car seat and ask if the flight is full," she suggested. "If the flight is not full, the airline should allow you to take your car seat on board and use an empty seat for your child without making that purchase. But only if the flight is not full." If you find out the flight is full, you can check the car seat at the gate, usually free of charge.
  3. Don't fly on busy days during busy times. Tilton said: "Pick flight times that are not popular (so not Mondays, Fridays, or Thursday afternoons) because that's when business people are flying and flights are going to be full. Airlines are less likely to be accommodating then. Fly red-eyes, or take early-morning or late-night flights that aren't typically full."

Although the FAA doesn't require children under 2 to have their own seat, its website urges parents to "secure your child in a CRS [Child Restraint Systems] or device for the duration of your flight" because "your arms aren't capable of holding your child securely, especially during unexpected turbulence." However, not all car seats are government approved, so the FAA asks parents to make sure the seat has the statement "This restraint is certified for use in motor vehicles and aircraft" printed on it before heading to the airport.

Not only does flying with a car seat make life easier for every party involved (aside from the installation process while everyone is trying to board - that's kind of a nightmare, but it's worth it), Tilton pointed out another reason taking your child's car seat along for the flight makes sense even after you've touched down at your destination: "you're going to need a car seat at the other end anyway."

Maisie Williams Looks EXACTLY Like This Emoji - She Agrees

The next time you use a certain emoji, you might realize that it looks oddly familiar. Does it remind you of someone, perhaps? If you're thinking Maisie Williams, you're not wrong. The actress herself came to the realization and has fully embraced it.

Maisie tweeted on March 7 that she's "come to terms" with her looking like an emoji. She even used the emoji she thinks she looks like.

She then tweeted a follow-up photo comparing herself to the "woman pouting" emoji.

The similarity is totally on point, and fans of Maisie agreed. Her first tweet has more than 8,000 "likes" and 900 retweets. Her second tweet has more: 19,000 "likes" and 3,000 retweets. One user even photoshopped Maisie's face into the emoji.

Plenty of others also made Game of Thrones references.

Do you agree with the comparison? We definitely do! Maybe this will inspire Maisie to come out with her own emoji-inspired sticker pack.

Game of Thrones Fans Noticed an Insane Detail About Sansa Stark's Hair

There was so much to absorb from the season seven premiere of Game of Thrones, you might've missed a key moment: Sansa's hair. No, she didn't wear a killer accessory á la Daenerys Targaryen, but she instead hinted at a possible plot development with her half-up look.

In a scene where she warns Jon Snow about how dangerous Queen Cersei Lannister can be, he says, "You almost sound as if you admire her." Sansa replies, "I learned a great deal from her." Fittingly, Sansa's braided style seriously channeled Cersei Lannister's hair looks from earlier seasons, as several Twitter users noted:

This detail is subtle, but it could signal that Sansa wants more power and may be a threat to Jon Snow, the King in the North (and her half-brother . . . as far as she knows).

Sophie Turner herself has said her character's hair is a clever plot device. "She's a very silent character . . . you don't really know what she's thinking," Sophie told POPSUGAR back in June. "The only real way we knew what she was taking in and learning from these people [is] because she would mirror Cersei's hairstyle or Margaery's hairstyle. . . . It's really interesting to see that sort of physical representation of her adapting to each situation."

If this Cersei-like hairstyle is any indication of how Sansa's storyline is going to this season, it looks like there'll be trouble in Winterfell.

The Drugstore Version of the Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette Is Hiding at Ulta

Every time Urban Decay debuts yet another palette from its "Naked" collection, women lose their minds. The latest is called Naked Heat, and it is a beautiful palette of 12 colors that include rusts, amber-hued neutrals, and orange-y browns as the base colors. Eye looks that feature matte reds and oranges are all the rage, so it isn't a surprise that women are rushing to spend $54 on it.

As a makeup artist, I saw women coming in droves yet again, scooping up the Naked Heat Palette from Urban Decay until it was sold out in every store. And I had a few thoughts: What if there was a way to create this beautiful Naked Heat look without spending $54? What if the women who came rushing into the stores and leaving crestfallen that the palette was sold out or that they couldn't afford it had a different solution? What if that solution was much less expensive?

Wouldn't that be great?

Well, I found something that can work as your backup. I scoured the earth for a Naked Heat Palette dupe, and I found one hidden in the NYX section of my nearby Ulta store. It's called Perfect Filter Rustic Antique ($20). Besides the fact that the palette is dreamy and similar option, I was able to use a coupon at Ulta and bought this amazing palette for a mere $16.

Read on to see swatches of this makeup dupe!

12 Ways You're Using Your Beautyblender Totally Wrong

The Beautyblender isn't your grandmother's makeup sponge. There's a reason professional and YouTube makeup artists keep more than one in their kits at all times. Since the brand launched over 10 years ago, it has become an insider favorite and created a new category of edgeless sponge applicators (with plenty of knockoffs available).

The main question we get when someone sees us with the pink egg: "Is it worth the money?" Yes. The Beautyblender will cost you $20 (which is about 19 more dollars than the cheap triangle versions at the drugstore). But you'll get a dewy, airbrushed finish you can't achieve with brushes alone.

There are a few things you need to know before you run out and buy one. Consider this your Beautyblender owner's manual straight from the product creator, Rea Ann Silva. Avoid these 12 mistakes to keep you from getting mold, tears, or stains in your prized beauty tool.

These Are the Best Beauty Products of 2017, According to Industry Experts

Growing your cosmetic collection is exciting, but it can also present a challenge when it's time to spend your cash. After all, a ton of innovative beauty products flood the market each year. So what do you buy? Is it right for you? What are other people saying about it? All of these questions go into picking out the "best" products.

WTF: This Server Wasn't Given a Tip Because of Their LGBTQ+ Rainbow Tattoo

I would just like to say that being gay does NOT MEAN you don't believe in God or Jesus. And people who are "religious"...

Posted by Joelle Nicole Maish on Saturday, August 5, 2017

Samantha Heaton, a 20-year-old server at Buffalo Wild Wings in Rockford, IL, was shocked earlier this month when she discovered she was denied a tip for her LGBTQ+-friendly rainbow equality tattoo.

The incident, which occurred on Aug. 5, went viral on both Facebook and Twitter. Joelle Nicole Maish posted the receipt on Facebook, where it has more than 724 reactions and 526 shares. On the receipt, the customers wrote, "can't tip someone who doesn't love Jesus! Bad tatoo. (sic)" Heaton told Inquisitr that she followed all of the restaurant's training rules while serving the family. More than anything, Heaton's upset that the family's children saw their parents do such a a thing. "The kids are going to be under the impression that it will be OK to discriminate," Heaton said to Inquisitr.

Twitter user Emily Sotakoun also posted the image to Twitter, where it received more than 31,000 "likes" and 12,000 retweets. While many are pointing out how awful this, others are sharing their support by sending photos of their equality or rainbow tattoos.

We've reached out to Heaton and will update if we hear back. Once again, people are proving that love wins and standing up for LGBTQ+ rights is still necessary.

Why I Will Never, Ever Grow My Hair Long Again

We've all met at least one woman with enviable waist-length locks who won't stop complaining about how terrible having long hair is. You might be wondering what could be so bad about it, especially if you've struggled to grow out your strands. As a woman who cut it all off, the answer is simple: long hair is boring and it gets in the way of everything - including your confidence.

All the women in my family have long hair and treat it as a trophy. For my entire childhood, I wore superlong braids and ponytails because styling my mane in any other way was just "too much" for my mom. It would constantly get caught in my backpack zipper and my classmates even swirled my braids around like jump ropes. I felt like a human playground. Because my parents believe lengthy strands are a symbol of beauty, they made me swear that I would never cut my hair.

My feelings toward my mane changed during my senior year of college. I finally felt like I was coming into my own and was in pursuit of a career. The kid with the long locks I saw in my reflection didn't match up with the poised woman I was becoming. It was time to cut my hair and embrace a more sophisticated style.

After seeing Instagram photos of Tia Mowry and Jessica Alba wearing blunt bobs, I knew it was my destined chop. It exuded effortless sex appeal, proving that you don't need long locks to feel feminine. Armed with an album full of style inspiration, I headed to see my stylist, Koni Bennett; and for about two hours, I sat back in her chair and watched as thick wads of hair collapsed to the ground.

What I anticipated to be a time of mourning turned out to be one of the most liberating days of my life. As I looked in the mirror, I saw me! Not a weighed-down, boring person, but the fierce young thang I know I am inside. I walked around feeling grown, in charge [cue Beyoncé's "Grown Woman"], and just downright hot. I quickly forgot I ever had long hair.

Multiple times, I'd been told that I would be filled with regret after my cut and that I would do anything to get my strands back. They said my hair would never grow again and that I would spend a fortune on extensions to replace my mane. These statements are all absolutely false.

Sometimes I wonder what my life would currently be like if I hadn't chopped it all off. All I can imagine is still feeling drowned and trapped by a head full of hair hiding my face and stifling my confidence. Have you been considering cutting yours? Don't be afraid of what your friends and family may think or worry about not being girlie enough. The idea that you have to have long hair to be beautiful is complete BS. Yes, it will take some time to get used to feeling the breeze tickling your neck. But I can assure you: once you crop your coif, long hair will be a permanent part of your past.

Here are 12 reasons you'll never look back.

These 20 Treatments For Thinning Hair Actually Work - According to Pros

If you've noticed your hair thinning, you're not alone. "As a salon owner and hairstylist, thinning hair and hair loss are the top concerns of my clients. They all ask me how can they achieve thicker, fuller hair while finding a way to get hair to regrow," says Gabriel Samra, a celebrity hairstylist.

That said, being in good company isn't exactly comforting when you're literally watching your hair wash down the drain. While some hair loss might indicate a deeper medical issue and therefore need to be treated by a doctor, it could be due to stress or poor hair health (see here for a list of common causes), in which case hair experts say you can take matters into your own hands.

From supplements to fillers (it's like Botox for your hair), read on for some of the innovative and sometimes unusual (gelatin, anyone?) products they recommend to clients seeking thicker hair. Some of these picks have proven so successful that the experts have incorporated them into their own regimens.

How Zumba Helped 1 Woman Dance Off 230 Pounds

Weight-loss success happens when you truly love to live a healthy lifestyle, as Cynthia Ortega found out. Here, she tells Zumba's lifestyle blog, Zlife, about her struggles with weight and how she finally found what works - and lost 230 pounds!

Cynthia: Before

Born and raised in Houston, Cynthia Ortega used to look in the mirror and hate what she saw. "I felt horrible and sad," she says. "I used to dread going to restaurants with my husband because I knew I wouldn't fit in the seat." Often smiling on the outside, deep down inside, she wasn't happy. She was trapped in her own body, desperately wanting to be someone else. Even her husband, who was very supportive, felt helpless.

Heavy mostly her whole life, she had never exercised and had many failed attempts with crash diets. One day, while standing in line to order pizza with her husband, a little girl pointed at Cynthia and said to her mom, "Look mom, that's a big lady!" Everyone heard it and Cynthia was mortified. In 2009, she was hospitalized with the swine flu and couldn't even fit through the MRI machine. She went into an induced coma and had to learn to walk and eat again. Due to her weight, she also discovered she had sleep apnea and diabetes.

Cynthia: Before

At a crossroads in her life, it finally clicked for Cynthia that she had to get healthy for herself and her young son who looked up to his mom and needed a positive influence. In 2013, she stumbled across a gym near her home and peeked in to see people taking a Zumba class. "It just looked like a lot of fun and something I could do." She and her friend signed up and, within one month of taking two classes per week, she lost 30 pounds! And that was just the beginning of her transformation.

Cynthia: After

Now 230 pounds lighter, she takes Zumba classes 12 times per week and puts more thought into her diet. She even started a YouTube page to chronicle her weight loss, called "BestFriendFitness" in the hopes of inspiring others out there to get healthy.

At 29 years old and married for eight years, Cynthia is inspiring her husband and family members to be healthy and eat foods in moderation. "Now, when my husband takes me out to a restaurant, I don't have to care about the chairs and if I'll fit in them. I love taking selfies and when I look in the mirror I feel great." She recently went back to the doctor for some tests and stayed four extra days to find out that all her health issues had disappeared and her heart rate was that of a fit person's!

Cynthia: After

So what is Cynthia's advice to others who are suffering from weight issues? "Find what works for you and something you're passionate about. You have to be persistent. You can't expect results from one day to the next. Zumba Fitness is challenging for me. My friends think I make it look easy, but I get out of breath . . . sore . . . tired. It's something that I truly love."

This Unexpected Skin Care Ingredient Might Be the Answer to Fighting Wrinkles

Peruse any shelf in your favorite beauty store - virtual or otherwise - and read the label. Chances are, you'll see many mentions of ingredients like hyaluronic acid, ceramides, vitamin C, and retinol. While you're likely pretty familiar with those buzzwords, it's safe to guess that you're not as acquainted with copper peptides. However, more and more products are taking advantage of copper's powerful properties, so it's time you got a quick lesson on the science and skin care benefits.

The Science and History

Copper peptides were first developed and utilized in products that helped expedite wound healing. But over the last couple of decades, scientists and researchers have studied the ingredient as it pertains to the regeneration of collagen production and antiaging. What they've found has been promising and has led to more brands incorporating copper peptides into products.

"Copper peptides are supported by voluminous scientific research and play an integral role in age prevention skin care regimens," said Francine Porter, a product development expert and the founder of Osmotics Cosmetics.

She explains that copper is something our bodies produce naturally and that it serves as both an anti-inflammatory and antioxidant. According to recent studies, copper peptides in skin care have been found to not just increase collagen and elastin (the materials responsible for firm, taut skin) but also nix old, damaged collagen and elastin to make way for a more youthful complexion.

The Skin Care Benefits of Copper Peptides

Products utilizing copper peptides are best for those who want to slow down signs of aging. Will it give you an instant facelift? No, the only thing that can do that is, well, a facelift. But according to many researchers, it can improve the quality of your skin.

"Proteins are the key building blocks of most living tissues," explained Bella Schneider, a clinical skin care expert and founder of Bella Schneider Beauty. "Copper peptides can help minimize the damage from daily wear and tear of the skin. They also have the potential to improve wrinkles, skin texture firmness, and thickness. Copper peptides are effective against various forms of skin irritation, mainly due to their anti-inflammatory effects."

Products Containing Copper

Sunday Riley Bionic Anti-Aging Cream ($125) contains an antiaging cocktail of copper, resveratrol, coenzyme Q10, and prickly pear. I find that a little goes a long way with this thick, custard-like formulation and that it's ideal for mature or dry skin types since it's so moisturizing. I apply a thin layer at night after cleansing and toning, and as the night progresses, my skin slowly sucks up the sweet-smelling product. In the morning, my skin is noticeably softer and plumper.

CU Shine Copper Mask ($46) is a shimmery peel-off mask that looks like molten metal and contains a mixture of copper, magnesium, and zinc. I apply it to clean, dry skin and let it set for about 10 minutes before peeling it off in one layer. Afterward, my skin feels exfoliated, soft, and firm. Bonus: it makes for fun Instagram selfies.

Lastly, Korres Golden Krocus Ageless Saffron Elixir ($98) combines copper with saffron, hyaluronic acid, and oat. These ingredients work together to plump skin, minimize fine lines, and hydrate and soothe your skin. I like that it has a velvety slip to it and my skin drinks it up within minutes after applying.

Established Ingredients vs. New Ones

"Remember that many cosmetic ingredients come into popularity in cycles," said Stephen Alain Ko, a cosmetic chemist. "Copper peptides, in combination with retinoic acid, was popular in the mid-2000s as a treatment for acne scarring on online forums."

Ko says that the jury is technically still out in the case of copper peptides and that many of the studies are currently "in vitro," which means they're still being tested on skin models within a lab. For that reason, some arguments say you should avoid new ingredients (like copper) entirely and stick to those that have a long and solid history. While it's hard to argue with that line of thought, there's still something to be said for innovation, even if it's young.

Would You Pay a Little Extra For American-Made Clothes? Here's Your Test

After American Apparel filed for bankruptcy in 2015, it spent a year gradually shutting down operations. Shortly thereafter, however, the hip clothing company was acquired by Gildan Activewear. Now, after a long hiatus, American Apparel has finally relaunched its website with an incredibly powerful capsule collection.

The e-commerce site currently gives shoppers two versions of the same eight clothing items. One version is made the United States, while the other is made overseas. As the website states, "Both are sweatshop free, identical in quality, different in price." With each item, the globally made version costs several dollars less. For example, the American-made Fine Jersey Crewneck T-Shirt costs $22, while the globally made version costs $18.

The Made in USA Capsule Collection is essentially giving consumers the option to by locally made clothes. Gildan CEO Glenn Chamandy actually floated around the idea earlier this year in an interview with Bloomberg. He said, "There are consumers that really want 'made in USA,' so we're going to cater to those consumers," adding, "But there are consumers that didn't want to pay the actual price but they love the brand, so now they can also buy the brand."

American Apparel is upholding its strong anti-sweatshop stance, so the company isn't likely to judge consumers who choose to buy the globally made clothing items. Instead, they seem to be more invested in learning what consumers really want.

Rose Gold Blond Is Still One of the Trendiest Hair Colors You Can Get Right Now

Rosé season might be ending - but not when it comes to hair color. We recently got word from Butterfly Studio colorist Tamara DeFelice that rose gold blond hair is one of the hottest hues you can get right now.

"For a modern touch, keep most brightness around the face while staying a bit deeper in the roots throughout the crown," DeFelice said. "Concentrate highlights around the middle to ends of the hair. This keeps maintenance lower and adds instant depth to the look."

Though it is easier for blondes to add some pink to their hair, it is also recommended for brunettes with warm undertones. "This color will accentuate the peach and gold tones in women with warmer skin tones," she said. "Also, it will bring out the honey tones in their eyes."

The shade has been interpreted in diverse ways from Emma Stone's deep "desert rose" shade to subtle pink highlights and ombré fades.

"Play up your blond by asking [your stylist] to add in hues of rich rose gold and butterscotch," DeFelice suggested.

To Speed Up Your Runs, Should You Walk?

It sounds counterintuitive that adding walking breaks to your runs will result in faster times, but the run-walk theory may be exactly what you need to add miles and drop time.

Why it's hard for runners to incorporate.

Whether you've been running for years or are training for your first 5K, you probably have already learned the hard way that it's a runner's ego that keeps runners believing that true success is covering the entire distance without walking. But at what cost? If adding walking intervals to your run helps you feel better, recover faster, and even hit a personal record, why is it viewed so negatively to do a run-walk program?

Not convinced? Science and experience both indicate that adding consistent, disciplined walk breaks from the beginning of your run will lead to more success in your training and racing.

Why it works.

  1. Your body fatigues less when you add walking breaks. If you wait until your body is already tired to take a walk break, you're already behind. Adding walk breaks from the beginning of your run when you're still feeling energized ensures that you'll conserve more energy for longer. Running requires more effort and energy from the body than walking, so rewarding your muscles with a short walk break while they are still fresh keeps the body feeling fresher longer.
  2. Your mind fatigues less. If you're starting a long run, you're probably already focused on how you'll manage to run for six or more continuous miles on a Saturday morning. Instead of focusing on the seemingly insurmountable distance from the start, planning to do a run-walk allows your mind to focus only on the interval you're in. So instead of hours, your mind can focus on covering only two to three minutes at a time. Easy, right? You can run for two or three minutes over and over again, even on the days you don't think you can run six miles.
  1. Shorter recovery. Taking walk breaks allows your joints a break from the constant jarring of running. Less strain on your legs throughout your run allows for quicker recovery, letting you get back to running more quickly without feeling sore for the entire day. The dip in your heart rate during a walk interval also allows the endorphins produced naturally during a run to better collect, leaving your mind and body with a longer-lasting runner's high.
  2. Take in food and water without spilling. If you're trying to cover your entire run without a walk break, you've likely spilled more water or gel than you've consumed. Consuming carbohydrates on runs lasting more than one hour is essential for your body to be able to cover the distance. Plan to grab a quick sip or bite during your walk break to make the most of your time and fuel.

Do it right.

If you're ready to experiment with your own run-walk formula, take the time to make a plan that works for you.

  • Experiment with the duration of both the run and walk break. Individualizing your run-walk ratio will allow you to determine what ratio makes you feel faster and stronger.
  • During your walk breaks, walk slowly enough to allow yourself to catch your breath and recover, but quickly enough that you don't lose ground or waste time. Remember the walk breaks are intended to make you fresher and faster, so try to avoid either walking too quickly or coming to a complete stop.
  • Set an app on your phone or on your GPS watch to alert you when it's time to run and when it's time to walk so you don't find yourself staring at a clock while you should be enjoying a race or training run. Avoid counting the seconds in your head so you can focus on your form and performance.

Ready to run (and walk)? Leave your preconceptions about what it means to be a "runner" behind and experiment with the plan that makes you happier, stronger, and faster!

If You're Exercising to Lose Weight, Don't Make These 5 Mistakes

You're getting into a routine at the gym, feeling stronger and working up a sweat, but you're not losing weight, which is one of the main reasons you started exercising in the first place. What gives?! Here are five common mistakes people make when working out that can prevent weight loss.

You're Only Doing Cardio

While it's true that cardio is great for burning calories, if you only run, bike ride, or swim, there's a missing link to maximizing your calorie burn: strength training. The more muscle you have, the higher your body's fat-burning potential, and weight training will help you burn more fat faster. That means you can do shorter workouts and get better results.

You're Skipping Intense Workouts

If you've heard of high-intensity interval training (HIIT), it's because it works! Experts agree that it's one of the best workouts for weight loss. This works for cardio and strength training and involves following a work-to-rest ratio, a popular one being two to one. That could be 40 seconds of working at 70 to 90 percent of your max followed by 20 seconds of rest. An example of HIIT could be running, biking, jumping rope, rowing, or swimming with sprint or hill intervals included, and/or a mix of strength-training moves like burpees, squats, plyometrics exercises like jumping lunges, or push-ups.

You're Inconsistent

A 20-minute walk once a day is great for getting blood flowing and getting fresh air, but it's not enough if you're trying to lose weight. The same goes for a yoga class or jog here and there - you need to be hitting the gym regularly for about 45 minutes, three to four times a week in order to see results. Commit to that if you're serious about slimming down.

Your Workouts Are Always the Same

If you've been working out and your weight loss has plateaued, it's a sign that you need to mix things up. When you do the same workout three to five times a week, your muscles become accustomed to it, so you need to tweak your workouts at least every six weeks. Or even better, do something different every time you work out. CrossFit or boot-camp-style workouts are great examples of this.

You're Not Paying Attention to What You Eat

What you do after your workout is important, too. Exercising regularly can often make you hungrier that usual, and you think "I worked out so I can eat anything I want!" Uh, nope! If you end up eating an enormous post-workout ice cream cone protein smoothie, or an extra couple snacks throughout the day, your calorie intake vs. calorie burn has evened out. In order to lose weight, you need to create a calorie deficit, so make sure you're not taking in the same amount of extra calories that you just burned.

21 Reasons Louis Tomlinson Is the Hot Brit Who Should Be on Your Radar

It's hard to sum up my love for Louis Tomlinson, who I more affectionately call King Louis most of the time, because he's a talented man who deserves to be celebrated as such. Louis, formerly of One Direction fame, has gradually been breaking into the solo music scene since the group went on hiatus at the end of 2015. Last year, he and Steve Aoki collaborated on the dance hit "Just Hold On," and now Louis is back with another hit, this time with Bebe Rexha, called "Back to You."

Most likely, you haven't heard of Louis, because it seems like everyone only knows about Harry Styles, but I'm here to tell you that Louis is the one to watch. Back in the 1D days, Louis wrote a lot of the band's music, and now that he's a solo star, he's not only writing his own, but he's writing for other artists. He's out there doin' the damn thing and charming the world in the process. If you're not already familiar with him and his beautiful face, I'm here to help you out and bring you on board with us. I've got 21 reasons to love him here, though if you let me, I'd probably provide you with approximately 7,454,987,371,280 of them. But alas . . . here are 21.

Brunettes Can Now Get Rainbow Hair Without Using a Drop of Bleach

While the allure of rainbow hair might be tempting, many brunettes have decided that it simply isn't worth it. Unlike our blond brethren, we darker-haired damsels typically have to lift our natural color to a lighter shade so rainbow shades pop on our strands. That means that we have to accept the harmful effects of the bleach needed to achieve the look. But it seems that we now have options: a promising new color product is taking bleach out of the equation.

Splat's new Midnight Collection makes it so that brunettes can adopt vibrant shades like indigo, ruby, and amethyst while still maintaining the overall health of their hair. The semipermanent formula works by using tiny micropigments that can transfer the desired color into the follicle but don't require as harsh of a dyeing process in order to look noticeable. The Midnight Collection is also loaded with conditioner to counteract the usual dryness that results from dyeing your hair. According to Splat, the color will then remain for about eight weeks.

The collection's three shades are exclusively available at Target. Look ahead for the three different products, and start plotting your foray into rainbow hair.

Why Your Face-Picking Could Be a Deeper Psychological Issue

I have a dirty little secret, and it's not a pretty one to admit as a beauty editor. Often, I find myself nuzzled up to my bathroom mirror, nails clawing at the tiny whiteheads on my face or pressing aggressively against the "lurkers," those pesky, deep pimples that form under the skin. I've even gone after ingrown hairs. Sometimes, I play a game in the elevator of my building: how quickly can I extract pus from my zit as I travel from the eighth floor to the lobby?

After these face-picking sessions, I am left with a war zone: bleeding, scabs, and eventually scars. I don't even have acne. It's not about getting clear skin, as I am often going after clogged pores too small for a casual observer to notice. When my fiancé moved in and realized what I've been doing behind closed bathroom doors, he gently pointed out that I should try to quit the habit.

So I reached out to my dermatologist, Dr. Amy Wechsler, who is board-certified in dermatology and psychiatry. She's one of the only women in the country with these dual specialties - pretty badass! She helped make sense of why we do this, what it means for us emotionally, and how to stop.

Are You a Picker?

"There are some people who are pickers," she explained. "They have something on their skin that is not typically there, so they try to pick or pop it off. Mosquito bites, scabs, pimples. Other people never touch anything on their skin. That seems to be something stable throughout someone's life - whether they are a picker or not."

Why do we do it? The short answer: "A lot of lives are relatively out of control," she said. "If there is something you can do to control your body or your life, intelligent people try to do it." She added that the habit is often linked to anxiety.

If you ask around or do a quick Google search, you'll discover how vast this issue is. POPSUGAR Beauty editor Emily Orofino admitted to me: "I'll spend hours sitting on the bathroom counter digging holes into my face. I've used tweezers and blackhead extractors to stab myself until something comes out. I don't feel successful until I am bleeding, usually. I've done some messed up things to myself to make me feel better, and I don't think it's just about skin."

"They get get into a trance, a zone where they aren't 100 percent conscious or fully aware of the world around them."

POPSUGAR intern Ashley Cooke also opened up about her chronic skin-picking issue. "I have the OCD of picking my fingers," she said. "I have never known a time when I haven't had this issue. I have crazy scars and bumps on my cuticles and a bit of nerve damage. I have to wear gloves in bed, because I do it in my sleep. And I always have Band-Aids on me as it's the only thing that keeps me from scratching at my fingers."

Pimple-popping videos, showcasing pus oozing out of infected megazits, have been going viral on the Internet for the past year. Dr. Sandra Lee (aka Dr. Pimple Popper) has over a million fans on her YouTube page. There is a mass fixation around this sensitive topic.

"I think it's pretty strange," Dr. Wechsler said of the trend. "On the other hand, it's satisfying as a doctor to drain a big pimple, because you know you're helping the person." She prefers that her clients watch these videos rather than take on the task of doing it at home. "If they're getting vicarious satisfaction watching a big pimple pop, by all means . . . if it keeps you from popping your own."

The Correlation Between Picking and Anxiety

Right after I got engaged, there was a very brief period of anxiety during which my fiancé and our families wondered: where and when will we have this wedding? It's one of the biggest decisions (besides choosing a partner) that the couple has to make. During that time, you can bet I had to use extra concealer to hide the damage I did to my face.

"When people excessively do something to their own skin, it gets them out of their head, so to speak," Dr. Wechsler said. "They get into a trance, a zone where they aren't 100 percent conscious or fully aware of the world around them. I've heard many patients say to me that they feel like they've been in the bathroom picking in a magnifying mirror for five minutes when it's been two hours."

The pattern causes people to feel dejected, and it can damage self-esteem.

Picking is a result of anxiety, and it can be a chronic, cyclical issue. "During times of anxiety and stress, they start picking more," she said. "And when the stress goes away or gets better, they stop. When the stress flares again - it could be months or weeks later - they do it again."

The pattern causes people to feel dejected, and it can damage self-esteem. "What's wrong with me?" is a common phrase Dr. Wechsler hears. "Afterwards, people feel so bad, like, 'I can't believe I did this to myself. I made my skin worse. It was healing. Now, I have anxiety plus this.'"

There are a slew of anxiety disorders linked to skin picking, including obsessive compulsive disorder and panic disorder. "It can also go along with depression or psychosis," she added. "Sometimes people are picking their skin because they believe bugs are in their skin, which is relatively rare. It's called delusions of parasitosis."

How to Stop Picking

Good news: this is not an incurable issue, and Dr. Wechsler has actionable suggestions. "All of these different ways have helped so many people," she said. "I want people to know that they're not alone. This is not something most people who have a picking problem share with people in their lives. So they feel very isolated."

If it is an extreme case, she will send a patient to get cognitive behavioral therapy with a psychologist. This goal-oriented form of therapy helps people work through the underlying issues and change the way they think about situations.

"All of these different ways have helped so many people. I want people to know that they're not alone."

But before you start calling your health insurance, there are at-home approaches to try. Dr. Wechsler recommends enlisting someone who you live with - a roommate, a family member, or a significant other - to make sure you're not locked in the bathroom scabbing up your skin. "The person doesn't have to be judgmental or mean," she said. "Just say to them, 'If I'm going to the bathroom, please time it and get me out. Knock on the door. This is my problem, and I need help.'"

If you live alone, put sticky notes in the bathroom - on the mirror or on the walls - with phrases like "Don't pick!" and "Keep my hands off my face!" According to Dr. Wechsler, it can jolt you out of your picking. You can also set a timer when you go into the restroom to remind yourself to get out quickly.

Dr. Wechsler also advises to throw out your magnifying mirror. "No one's skin looks great in a magnifying mirror," she said. "You see all kinds of things that aren't visible to the naked eye. A lot of pickers who have a real problem go after things you can only see with a magnifying mirror. That's so unhealthy and so bad for you. I had a patient once take a video of her throwing her magnifying mirror down the garbage shoot, which was great. She was showing me that she was doing better and taking the steps to really try to stop."

What to Do If You've Picked

So you went after a few blackheads, and now your face is a crime scene. Dr. Wechsler offers next steps: "If you're already bleeding, make sure your hands are clean. Use tissues to pat the area dry, and then apply some sort of antibiotic, topical, hydrogen peroxide, clean your skin a bit. Don't use rubbing alcohol, it stings like crazy." Pick up some Neosporin at your local drugstore, and put it on the spot.

If you absolutely have to get pus out of a zit, try this method. First, make sure your skin is soft by taking a shower, washing your face, or putting a warm compress on it. Then, says Dr. Wechsler, "take two Q-tips and apply even, gentle pressure on either side of the pimple. You cannot hurt yourself with the Q-tip. If you apply too much pressure, you will break the Q-tips. If they break, just stop." But do not start with cotton swabs and then move onto your fingers. Putting tissues over your nails isn't a solution either. "Your fingernail is strong and hard," she warned.

While breaking this habit is not easy (trust me, I know), think about what it is doing to your skin in the long term. Investing in laser treatments and expensive brightening serums to remedy scars is costly and time-consuming. And if you think you have a deeper issue, contact your doctor or a mental-health professional for help.

Things Moms Should Never Do When Accepting Hand-Me-Downs

I am one of those moms that absolutely loves handing my kid stuff over to other moms. Two of my close friends have children about 18 months younger than my own, which is the perfect age difference for handing down bags of gently used, still stylish clothing from my 6-year-old daughter and 3-year-old son to their 4-and-a-half-year-old and 18-month-old.

It's a mutually beneficial relationship. I'm regularly inspired to clean out my kids' closets, and I feel better about splurging on those Patagonia swim shorts and Crewcuts dresses, knowing they're going to have a second life with other kids I love. My friends save loads of money on kids' clothes and have been known to thank me generously. (One of these friends is an amazing photographer, and she offers up free photo sessions for my family; another occasionally sends me gift cards to my favorite local Mexican restaurant. Bring on the skinny margaritas!)

If you can find a long-term hand-me-down situation that works for everyone, mom life is good, but more often, hand-me-downs come sporadically and in bits and pieces, a trickier concept to navigate, especially if you're on the receiving end. Follow these six etiquette guidelines, however, and you're sure to keep getting the good stuff . . . the good kid stuff, that is.

  1. Don't take what you won't use. We've all met a mom who can't wait to unload her kids' clothing the minute they've outgrown each item, but if you don't think your own kids will wear whatever she's offering, don't feel bad saying so, giving her the opportunity to find someone else who could use it. If she just won't take no for an answer, don't feel guilty dropping off that stuff at Goodwill.
  2. Don't be grabby. Unless you're dealing with your best friend or a close relative (or a friend who's complaining to you about how she needs to get rid of a ton of kid clothes), asking for another mom's hand-me-downs is pretty much a no-no. If she's already earmarked them for someone else or wants to keep them for her own future children, you put her in an awkward position. Instead, wait for her to offer.
  3. Don't forget to express appreciation in proportion to what you took. A single item is worthy of a quick thank you text. A bag deserves a handwritten note or a bottle of wine. If you really hit the jackpot with hundreds of dollars of awesome gear for your little one, consider sending your friend a nice gift or gift card. She'll appreciate the gesture, and even after the cost of said gift, you still saved money.
  4. Don't forget to ask if they want big items back. If you are handed down something large, like a stroller, crib, or baby swing, it's considerate to ask your friend if she'd like the item back after you're done. Even if she won't need it for her own kids, she might have a relative or another friend who could use it.
  5. Don't ask for something you aren't going to end up taking. Recently a very close friend, pregnant with her third child, asked me for my son's crib when we were done with it. I said yes, then had to say no when a relative made the same request. The relative bought her own crib for her now 2-month-old son, after which my friend told me she no longer needed my crib, which is still sitting in my basement months after her initial request. Sure, things change, but if you ask for a big-ticket item, you should try to retrieve it or let it go within a reasonable time frame, understanding that there might be others in line.
  6. Don't expect an ongoing hand-me-down situation unless it has been discussed. Maybe a buddy gave you all her 3-6 month clothes, then found out her sister-in-law was expecting. Or maybe her mother reminded her/guilted her into passing down everything to a distant cousin instead. In general, just because you get one set of hand-me-downs doesn't guarantee you'll get more. Be grateful for what you do receive and understand that circumstances change and she gets to decide what to do with her future kid loot.

A Look Back at Eva Longoria's Dating History

Eva Longoria hadn't had the best luck finding love, until she met her now husband José Antonio Bastón. The 42-year-old has admitted in the past that she doesn't "really have a philosophy on love," but she is a "hopeless romantic" so it makes sense that she has had her fair share of relationships during her time in the public eye. Some have just been flings, while others have gone all the way to marriage, but through it all Eva didn't let heartbreak keep her down or stop her from doing what she loves. From her first marriage to her third and everyone in between, here's a look at Eva's love life.

5 Lifesaving Habits of a Real-Life Professional Organizer

It's no wonder the cofounder of Done & Done NYC, a professional organizing, de-cluttering, and staging business, is just as organized in her personal life as her professional life. Abby Löfberg has the scoop on how Kate Pawlowski's daily routine stays on track.

Our cofounder Kate Pawlowski is 28 years old and the most high-functioning person I know. (Read her bio here). What's great about her is that she gives advice that someone like me (who doesn't "run a home" and is not naturally organized) can actually follow and implement.

I grilled her about her entire day, and gleaned a couple of great habits that she does unconsciously and without thinking. She says that these are so easy, they don't feel overwhelming - they become ingrained into your habits, and you end up looking forward to the feeling of relief you get after such little effort, like brushing your teeth in the morning.

1. Morning

When she wakes up, Kate fills her kettle and turns it on. During the three minutes it takes to boil for her morning tea, she unloads the dishwasher, so she never has to keep dishes in the sink and just pops them straight in the dishwasher all day. Imagine never having to have a terrifying sink full of dirty dishes! (I actually do this too. It works!)

2. Showering

She keeps a magic eraser in her shower and wipes down the walls right after she shuts the water off to keep it clean and mildew-free. This prevents slime and grime from building up in the grout, and she never has to do a deep shower clean other than during her seasonable deep cleaning sprees.

3. Getting dressed

She is all about stylish basics that work for multiple purposes - especially with her underwear. When Kate buys her undies, she makes sure they match a few of her existing bras, so she can quickly pull out a pair and be in a matching set. When she takes off her clothes at night, her bra and undies go right into the mesh delicates bag she has hanging on her closet door, so they're ready to pop in the wash once a week. (She actually has a bunch of these bags in different sizes and washes most of her clothes this way to take care of them). This way, she never runs out of underwear and has to do a last-minute wash while wearing granny panties.

4. Evening

She spends seven to 10 minutes every night tidying her desk, her coffee table, folding throw blankets, and starting the dishwasher so she can wake up fresh in the morning and get right to coffee and work.

5. Shopping

Living in an organized way is not just about where you put your things - it starts with what you let into your house in the first place. Kate is vigilant about her shopping habits - she does research on clothes and reads reviews before she buys them. She knows what cuts work for her and which materials she is most comfortable wearing. She also takes care of her clothes really well by washing everything on a delicate cold-cold cycle. This way, her clothes stay in top condition and she doesn't have to buy as much. This is part of a philosophy we at Done & Done NYC call Owning Well - in other words, how to own less things that work perfectly for you is a more efficient and less expensive way to have an organized space.

If You Try to Figure Out the Mistake in This Math Problem, It'll Make You Go Crazy

Not all math problems are meant to be solved - some are here just to watch the world burn and make people question everything they ever learned in school. And while some problems have different solutions, others have answers that don't deal with numbers at all, like a Facebook post asking people to find a math mistake.

The photo, shared by Facebook user Antley Lamont Staten, shows a photo of a man holding up two sheets of paper. One paper has the numbers 1-9 written on it. The other paper asks people to share when you find the mistake. Try to solve it for yourself below:

Did you groan? Or are you trying to figure out what the issue is with the numbers? The answer is on the paper to the left - the man spelled "mistake" wrong. The post has clearly struck a nerve, considering it has more than 100,000 reactions, 800,000 shares, and plenty more comments.

Sometimes the answer really is simple and requires no math at all.

7 Foods to Absolutely Avoid If You Want Clear, Glowing Skin

Two weeks ago, I went to Whole Foods and stocked up on coconut milk, almond butter, frozen veggies, fresh berries, organic meats, wild salmon, and quinoa. My boyfriend could interpret what this meant: Lauren is back on another food detox.

It started last Summer when I completed Dr. Frank Lipman's two-week Be Well Cleanse. This is a 14-day program in which you eliminate the food groups that most people are sensitive to, including gluten, dairy, alcohol, caffeine, nightshade vegetables, and eggs, among other things, replacing them with a plant-based diet that includes select organic lean meats and fish. You also drink three shakes a day incorporating Dr. Lipman's special blend of powders and take supplements. I learned a ton about myself, my habits, and my skin.

Though I have yet to return to the official cleanse, I do repeat some of the guidelines from it when I feel off-balance, seem bloated, or have less-than-desirable skin (blochy, broken out, puffy under-eyes). Typically, I try to eliminate gluten, dairy, and sugar for about a week or two until I feel and look better. Within three days of sticking to this diet plan, my skin brightens, I fall asleep easier and earlier, and my jeans fit better. It's not about dieting or losing weight; it's about creating harmony within my body. A healthy gut undeniably yields more gorgeous skin.

According to Dr. Lipman, "Your skin is your largest organ and a window into what's going on inside your body. Poor food choices that cause inflammation can lead to numerous skin issues."

If a cleanse is a bit dramatic for you, no worries. You can still reap some of the benefits by making these seven food swaps. Dr. Lipman outlined which foods to avoid, why they are toxic for your skin, and what to replace them with.

How to Master a 10-Step Korean Skin Care Routine in Under 15 Minutes

When I introduced the Korean 10-step skin care routine for the very first time in 2014, the reaction was unexpectedly positive. I say "unexpectedly" because, sure, I was obsessed with the results I got from a multistep regimen, but I wasn't sure if others would be as into it as I was (thankfully, they were).

Since then, a lot's changed for me and my face. My skin care needs are different (hello, 30s and hormonal acne!), and a whole slew of new products have come on the market. Naturally, my skin care routine has changed too. Here's an updated, two-years-in take on my own Korean 10-step routine.

20 Beautiful Bronde Color Ideas to Inspire Your Fall-Weather Makeover

While beauty girls have many reasons to love Fall, one of our favorites is that we get to use the season as an excuse to switch up our style. We pull our best vampy lipsticks out of our stashes, all things pumpkin spice are added to our routines, and we add a bit more brooding color to our hair. If you're not quite brave enough to try out smoky lilac strands, consider testing out the more natural - but equally beautiful - dye trend known as bronde hair.

"Bronde hair color is the perfect marriage of blond and brown hair," said Lauren E. Hack, colorist and cofounder of Lauren+Vanessa salon in New York City. The style is typically achieved using balayage, in which color is "swept" on to the hair strand by strand. This melds the hues together, creating a more natural, sun-kissed effect that looks neither definitively blond nor brunette. While it can also be achieved using traditional foils, Hack prefers to combine both techniques to make the ends of her clients' hair look a bit lighter.

While it's usually women with brown- or black-toned hair who opt to test-drive the bronde trend, blondes love it too - it adds dimension to "tired-looking" color. "It's great for the woman who is low-maintenance," Hack added.

If you're uncertain whether this color trend is ideal for you, keep your complexion in mind. "This hair color is flattering on most women, but especially those with olive skin or light beige skin," said Hack, who pointed to Jennifer Lopez as a shining example of gorgeous bronde hair.

Bronde isn't just a hot trend or an excellent option for transitioning your color during the colder months (though it is both!). After you hit up the salon and get this dye job, a mere glance in the mirror at your new style will make you feel ready to conquer the Fall season. Keep reading for some of our favorite examples of bronde hair from Instagram.

Your Fall Wardrobe Isn't Complete Without 1 of These 15 Cool Turtleneck Sweaters

Without a doubt, my favorite style of sweater is a turtleneck. Not only do they look chic and timeless, but they're also really practical. Check out our favorite options for Fall and consider a few for your seasonal wardrobe.

Gigi Hadid's New Styling Trick Makes Outfit Planning a Whole Lot Easier

This Summer, Gigi Hadid has been spending plenty of time in New York, showing off a slew of new outfits. We've noticed that those outfits include some essentials, like her Stalvey top-handle bag (she owns the design in multiple colorways and textures), ultrabright sunglasses, and statement pants. But Gigi plays a trick with these items. In order to come up with the foundation of her look, she matches at least two of her pieces every time.

Perhaps we can credit the move to her new stylist, Mimi Cuttrell, or maybe this game of mixing and matching was all Gigi's idea. Either way, we're on board with trying it out for ourselves: just coordinate your sunglasses with your shades, bag, or that flash of color on your boots, finish with neutral separates, and - voilà! - you've got Gigi's signature down to a science. Read on to see how it's done.

This Man Stood on the Same Corner For 3 Years - Then a Neighbor Stepped In

Meet Ginger Sprouse and Victor Hubbard. Ginger passed Victor on the same corner for three years - and the story of how they finally connected is touching people across the world. Victor Hubbard had been battling mental illness and was sadly waiting for years for his mom to come back for him on that exact corner - until Sprouse opened her car window and her heart for Hubbard.

In December, Sprouse created a Facebook page called This Is Victor, where she would share Hubbard's story and updates on his new life. "I listen to people talking around town and keep hearing 'someone needs to do something about that guy,'" she wrote in a post. "So, I will be the organizer and I hope that we as a community can be 'someone' together."

Sprouse has led the efforts, taking care of Hubbard's doctor's appointments, giving him a place to wash his clothes, and welcoming him into her home. It's her incredible compassion and Hubbard's determination and spirit that have caught the attention of thousands of people.

A few days after starting the Facebook account, Sprouse started a GoFundMe page to help raise money for Hubbard, "a sweet, gentle man that happens to be mentally ill." In two short months, the $15,000 goal was met and over $19,000 has been raised for him. "If you want to meet someone who is eternally optimistic, positive and humble go visit him," Ginger wrote. "He will out-bless you every time."

Hubbard's life has changed in more ways than they both could've imagined. He now has a job as a cook at Art of the Meal, a kitchen for cooking classes and private parties owned by Sprouse, and he's reunited with family members. Hubbard connected with an uncle also from Texas, and most importantly, he was able to get together with his mom last week.

Hubbard has recognized all the outstanding ways in which his life has been changed. "She came around and she kind of saved me," he told KHOU, a Houston news station. "She helped me. It's like grace."

Get Excited! The Real-Life Resort That Inspired Dirty Dancing Wants to Reopen

In addition to ABC's Dirty Dancing reboot earlier this year, fans will be excited to learn that the original resort that inspired the iconic film may be reopening. Louis R. Cappelli, the current owner of Grossinger's Catskill Resort Hotel, has already filed paperwork with the State Department of Environmental Conservation to help aid the cleanup process of the once-popular resort located in Liberty, NY.

"For 17 years I've been a lone wolf trying to do this, and I really haven't been able to accomplish it because of the enormity of the task," Mr. Cappelli recently told the New York Times. From the enormous indoor and outdoor pools to the classic dining hall - complete with a ballroom dance floor - to the staff quarters (where you might be lucky enough to carry a watermelon), the resort has gone from a Dirty Dancing dream to a dilapidated nightmare. "But now that the casino is in fact going to be opening up there, I think the opportunity now exists to have this kind of original dream come true," Cappelli stated.

Although still pending, Cappelli's application for remediation would give the vacant property a chance to cut down some of the cleanup cost - if found eligible. According to the New York Times, Cappelli believes the chemicals spilled by dry-cleaning and machine repair shops nearby the land should be a strong enough argument for why the resort should be approved. If all goes well, Cappelli told the publication he plans to reopen "a 2017 model of Grossinger's - with some sort of memories still there." While exact construction plans are unknown, it's safe to say no one will be putting Baby in the corner.

How I Finally Cleared Up My Skin With 3 Simple Steps

This post was originally published March 2015.

Hi, I'm Kirbie. I'm 28, and I have an obsession with skin care.

It all dates back to when I picked up my first magazine at the tender age of 11. These miracle monthlies gave me secrets from the stars! So-and-so uses night cream? Off I went to the drugstore to pick up Neutrogena's Copper Eye Cream. (Yes, at 12.) And ever since I read that Hilary Duff used Mario Badescu's Rose Water Facial Spray, I made sure I had one on me at all times. (One day, I vow to ask her if her affinity for rose water is true or not.)

That being said, I'm very aware of my changing skin. I've complained about my experience with melasma - a result of my birth control. I've talked about my facial hair and the surprising way I get rid of it. And I definitely dealt with a severe case of adult acne after getting off the pill. I am more concerned now with the texture, clarity, and strength of my skin - yes, thin skin isn't good - and I found that, even as a beauty reporter, I wasn't able to nail down the perfect formula.

That's why I feel compelled to share with everyone how I got my skin to a good place. Yes, I never had deep, cystic acne, but I empathize with those of you who experience it, given how I feel with my own breakouts. I believe making these changes really have had an amazing effect on my skin. So, what's the process?

Lea Michele and Jonathan Groff's Gleeful Friendship Goes Way Back

Lea Michele and Jonathan Groff's Hollywood friendship actually started in NYC. While playing love interests in the 2006 musical Spring Awakening, the duo hit it off right away and became immediate friends. Not only did they keep in touch after their Broadway run, but they went on to share the screen in Lea's hit show, Glee (their characters even ended up together in the finale). Needless to say, these two are pretty in sync, on and off screen. When they're not making us melt with their sweet red-carpet appearances, they're traveling from coast to coast for some quality BFF time. See their best moments together over the years below.

Make sure as wipe, you go against the grain to get the best results. Genius!

1 Makeup Artist Just Took the Mermaid Trend a Little Too Far - but It's Pretty Impressive

Just as unicorns have become a staple in the food world, mermaids have full-on infiltrated the beauty sphere, inspiring gorgeous makeup looks, products, and even brushes. Many makeup artists mimic the tail-flipping mythical creature using glitter galore and pretty blue hues, but one talented artist just showed another - darker - side of mermaids, and the internet is freaking out over it.

Channing Carlisle took a slightly shocking route with her hyperrealistic mermaid-inspired look: she transformed her leg to make it look ripped open to reveal scales underneath. I'm not gonna lie; at first glance, I thought it was pretty darn gruesome and took the mermaid trend a bit too far. But once I saw that it was all done with special effects makeup (and no skin was actually harmed in the making of it), I realized it's extremely impressive. I can barely even apply my eyeliner properly, but Channing somehow managed to make her leg look like a prop from the set of a mermaid murder-mystery film. This girl's got crazy talent, and that's something to be celebrated just as much as a MUA nailing the perfect cat eye.

It seems like the internet had somewhat similar reactions. When Channing shared the double-take-worthy image on Twitter, it garnered more than 50,000 retweets and nearly 200,000 "likes," not to mention that tons of fans and followers responded to her tweet sharing their praise for her mind-blowing makeup skills.

Pumpkin Spice Syrup Made With Actual Pumpkin

Sally Hansen's New DIY Chrome Nail Polish Kits Are Damn Gorgeous

I am not going to point fingers, but I've asked some of the top nail art salons in NYC for mirror nails over the past six months - and no one will give them to me! Pros at these spots told me the reflective powder topcoat chips easily, so they had to stop offering it. Customers complained.

So when I heard Sally Hansen was launching four Chrome DIY nail art kits featuring a similar look, I was pumped. I could get my futuristic manicure easily and at home, goddammit. It seemed too good to be true. And after seeing the Chrome nail look applied IRL at an editor's preview, I can confirm these sets are as cool as they sound.

"The chrome trend was first seen on social media and has since exploded but was previously only achieved with UV light and a lengthy and costly application process," Kristi Sloe, VP of global product development at Sally Hansen, told POPSUGAR. "Salon Chrome democratizes the trend so that the at-home consumer can achieve the same look themselves and have fun doing it."

There are five Chrome kit colors: Rose Gold (pinky gold), Peacock (purple-blue metallic), Holographic (iridescent metallic), Gunmetal (reflective charcoal), and Mermaid (green-purple hybrid). Out of the bunch, I'd say Gunmetal is the closest the mirror look I've been chasing after. (And it will be mine soon!)

The colored Chrome kits (Rose Gold, Peacock, Gunmetal, and Mermaid) are each $20 and come with the shimmery colored powder, a powder applicator, and a clear coat that seals in the chrome. That said, you need to supply your own base nail polish color and topcoat. These will be available at Target and Target.com, where Sally Hansen products are sold. Ulta store and Ulta.com are getting an exclusive kit, the Holographic one. It is $30 and also comes with the Sally Hansen Miracle Gel polish in Black-y O and the Miracle Gel topcoat. Everything drops Target mid-August and at Ulta on October 1.

"I really love Sally Hansen Salon Chrome in Mermaid and Peacock," said Madeline Poole, a Sally Hansen ambassador and top nail artist. "These more jewel-toned blue and green shades have the most impactful chrome effect. They also pick up really well on camera!"

While the Chrome kits are fairly easy to use - and you can see for yourself ahead in our exclusive video featuring Hannah Lee - Madeline has some advice. "It's important to use light pressure when buffing the powder into the nail," she explained. "You want to begin when the base color is still slightly tacky, but as a precaution gently buff so as not to dent the surface of the polish."

And if you desire to create chic nail art, Madeline suggests marking off half the nail with tape before painting. This will create a negative-space look. "Place a piece of masking tape across the width of your nail and then paint the tip of the nail following the Salon Chrome process," she noted.

Luckily, we have a sneak peek at every color plus an exclusive video from a nail blogger on how to use them.

These Are the Best 8 Concealers, According to Celebrity Makeup Artists

Long nights, early mornings, and festive Summer evenings out can often lead to dark circles and blotchy skin. More often than not, concealer (and coffee) is your very best friend before heading out the door. But it can be pretty disappointing when your makeup coverage only lasts through two hours of your day. It can cake off or fade, exasperating the wrinkles or under-eye bags you're trying to hide.

So, we asked some of the top makeup artists in the business which concealers they rely on day in and day out, through countless photo shoots and on some of their favorite celebrity clients. Here are the concealers that they continuously go back to. Hopefully it will help you discover your new favorite magic eraser!
