In "Finally" News, Prince Is Officially Honored With His Own Shade of Purple
The late, great Prince was honored with his own shade of purple by Pantone this week. The global color authority partnered with The Prince Estate to identify the exact shade the "Purple Rain" singer loved most, inspired by the custom-made Yamaha piano that was scheduled to go on tour with Prince before his untimely passing in April 2016.
The color, named Love Symbol #2, "pays tribute to Prince's indelible mark on music, art, fashion and culture," Pantone said in a statement. "Prince's association with the color purple was galvanized in 1984 with the release of the film Purple Rain, along with its Academy Award-winning soundtrack featuring the eponymous song," the release read. "While the spectrum of the color purple will still be used in respect to the "Purple One," Love Symbol #2 will be the official color across the brand he left behind." We can't think of a better way to honor Prince!
A Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake Duet Might Be on the Way, and Now We Can't Breathe
Grab all the denim and newsboy caps you own, because Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears are reportedly working on a new song together. The late '90s power couple, who dated from 1999 to 2002, didn't part ways on the best of terms due to rumors that the pop princess had cheated on the *NSYNC alum with her choreographer, but it appears time heals all wounds (and Ramen-inspired hair). While both of the singers have written songs about each other in the past, they've yet to collaborate on a duet, but music producer Timbaland recently sent the rumor mill into overdrive after dropping some hints about a song they could be working on together while talking to the hosts behind the Pop University podcast.
Hosts Maddie Lazer and Hannah Rowston stopped by a taping of ABC's latest singing competition show, Boy Band, on which Timbaland serves as an "architect", and went up to the judge's table to ask him about "Justney." At first the music producer - who's worked with Timberlake on a number of tracks over the years - assumed they were saying "Justin," and asking about the "Can't Stop the Feeling" singer's upcoming fifth studio album. "It's coming! New music, 2018," he told them, before they shouted out again, "No, no. Justney, Justney! Justin and Britney and you."
According to Pop University, Timbaland then realized what Lazer and Rowston were really asking about, and his eyes widened. The hit-making music producer reportedly told them, "Yes, it's coming. It's coming." Did he simply misunderstand what they were getting at, or is a Spears and Timberlake collaboration truly in the works?
This isn't the first time news about a potential duet between the two has popped up, but Timbaland's seeming confirmation is definitely telling. In late March, Timbaland got fans all riled up after liking a handful of throwback photos of the former couple after recording in the studio with Timberlake and Pharrell, which many took to be a sign that Spears had laid down a track with her ex (Timberlake's mom, Lynn Harless, also began following Spears on Instagram around the same time).
As much as we think it might just be a big coincidence, at least we know that Timberlake and Spears are both down to make music together at some point. Spears revealed that she'd love to work with Timberlake during an interview in 2016 ("He's very good"), and a few months later, Timberlake told E! News that he'd "absolutely, absolutely" be down to collaborate with her. Make it happen, universe.

Mindy Kaling Opens Up About Her Impending Motherhood: "I'm Really Excited!"
News broke in July that Mindy Kaling is pregnant with her first child, and now the actress is opening up about just how thrilled she is for this next chapter in her life. While sitting down with Sunday TODAY recently, The Mindy Project star told host Willie Geist that she's "really excited" about her impending motherhood. "It's so unknown to me. I have a lot of control over a lot of aspects of my life, and this is one where I'm like, 'OK, it's out of my hands,' which is kind of a fun feeling," she said.
Mindy also hopes to draw inspiration from the close relationship she had with her own mother, who sadly passed away in 2012 after batting pancreatic cancer. "My mom was incredibly fierce and so devoted to us, just loved us and really wanted us to be happy no matter what we did," she continued. "My career choice was not something that she was familiar with and she was just so supportive of that. And if I could give that to my child, just that open-mindedness, I'd be so happy." The actress said that that open-mindedness probably won't apply to other parents, though, joking: "It's so easy to criticize parenting until you're a parent, so one of the nice things about becoming a parent is that I'll be able to openly criticize other parenting because I will have a child." Catch the full interview when it airs on NBC on Sept. 10.

No Soggy Salad Here! How to Perfectly Layer Your Dressing in a Mason Jar
So you decided to make good life choices and pack a salad for lunch, and then you dig in and discover the worst: it's soggy. Ugh. Thankfully, there's an easy way to avoid that tragedy altogether when you pack your salad in a mason jar. The trendy jars aren't just cute; they're incredibly helpful for layering the perfect salad, too.
Thanks to Mason Jar Salads and More: 50 Layered Lunches to Grab and Go by Julia Mirabella, we've learned two ways to ensure your salad stays crisp while still packing the dressing in the same container (because who has the patience for two separate dishes?). The first method is to layer the dressing on the bottom of the mason jar, before adding any other ingredients. This is best for salads with bulkier bases, such as black beans, chickpeas, carrots, cherry tomatoes, sugar snap peas, or other vegetables that won't soak up the dressing. After you add the dressing and the base, keep layering with greens, cheese, and other toppings, and the dressing will stay put in the bottom until you're ready to shake it up.
The second method is to use the parchment paper trick. If your salad doesn't have beans or hearty vegetables as the base, don't put the dressing on the bottom. Instead, pack the whole salad into the jar and leave a little bit of space at the top. Cut out a piece of parchment paper a couple inches wider than the jar top, place it over the jar, and press it down to form a small cup. Pour the dressing right onto the parchment paper, and seal the lid on tight. When you're ready to eat, pour the dressing right into the salad and mix everything together.
Soggy salads, begone!

On Being Called "Brown Sugar" and "Oprah" in Morocco
It's a truth universally acknowledged that when you complain to an ignorant man about being catcalled, they'll say you should take it as a compliment. And when you further explain that being catcalled abroad is even worse, they'll mansplain to you that it's just the way the culture is and you should just suck it up and expect it if you're going to travel.
I don't recall being whistled at or spoken to like a sexual object much in my youth. I wasn't exactly the ideal standard of beauty in my small town, so it wasn't until I moved away to bigger cities that I realized that this unfortunate act of catcalling was something that could happen to me. And sadly, as I've gotten older and lived in cities such as Los Angeles, London, and New York, it's only gotten worse. I'll never enjoy being on the receiving end of it and certainly do not consider it flattering.
My adventurous nature took me on a trip to Morocco after finding extremely inexpensive flights. It was a country I had heard so much about and just had to figure out if all the hype was justified. Thankfully, I was overjoyed to find out that it exceeded my expectations. Morocco is an intense blend of old and new. The vibrant colors, smells of spices, and old ruins were fulfilling my Indiana Jones fantasies.
In my research, before I arrived, it was made clear that the men of Morocco tended more toward the aggressive side when it came to interactions with women. I had faced many sexual remarks toward me in my travels to other locations but didn't want to go in with a bad attitude about this and have it ruin the trip. From the moment I landed in the North African country, a barrage of physical remarks rained down upon me. My inner angry feminist was enraged.
It's a complicated feeling to want to change the world and how women are treated, but then to try and respect the culture of a country and not go in with a stubborn mind on how things are done. I wanted so badly to stand up for myself, but I also didn't want to cause a scene. I just let it be because I wanted to enjoy my time there, even if it meant feeling tremendously uncomfortable.
I do have to give it to Moroccan catcallers, though, for their creativity. When I'm walking around New York City, I just get a honk and suggestive look from a car as it passes by, or told that I should be smiling by a stranger who thinks he should get to dictate what my face looks like for him. Or I might be trying to innocently enjoy a museum when a security guard comes up to me and whispers right up in my ear in a creepy voice that he thinks I'm pretty. At least in Morocco, I received the borderline sexual harassment compliments with a bit of flair.
Morocco is insanely gorgeous and I don't want to miss out on seeing more of it just because some random guy called me Brown Sugar.
As a curvy black woman, some of my favorite names I've been called in Morocco are Beyoncé, Brown Sugar, Oprah, Bob Marley, and Whoopi Goldberg. I guess in a way I certainly do feel flattered. Beyoncé, Oprah, and Whoopi's careers are literally my life goals, so being compared to them could be considered a bit nice. Brown Sugar feels a little obvious, but at least it's sweet. And traveling with long, thick braids, I guess I was just asking for the Bob Marley comparisons.
I realize that a lot of it has to do with being a marketing tactic to make people pay attention to them and possibly come over to buy their products. The culture is that of hustling as hard as possible to make enough money to support themselves or their families, so I understand that it's all about how to gain new customers. And I'm sure I didn't notice if they were also saying things to men as well since I was in my own head a lot with each new name they called me.
Despite being treated this way, I went back to Morocco a year later and still have plans to go again in the near future. The thing is, it definitely may suck for a woman to have to endure these sexist moments while seeing the world, but the fact of the matter is that Morocco is insanely gorgeous and I don't want to miss out on seeing more of it just because some random guy called me Brown Sugar.
Morocco is still one of my favorite countries I've been to, and the first location I mention when people ask me for suggestions of places to go. The culture may not be the most attractive thing for a Westernized feminist to have to digest, but it's good to get outside of your comfort zone and face those that haven't been brought fully up to speed on how many women don't like to be spoken to. My inner Oprah gives me the serenity to face anything, including being called Oprah by someone who needs to back away five steps and not touch me, please.

This Powerful Dance Routine to Kesha's "Praying" Will Bring You to Your Knees
"Praying" is Kesha's first single in four years and is as powerful as they come. Following her legal battle with producer Dr. Luke, she showed her emotional side in the lyrics of the song, and it shook fans to their core. Nico O'Connor, a choreographer at LA's Millennium Dance Complex, recently brought the moving vocals to life in a group dance routine, and we think we've found our peace.
While "Praying" may not strike you as a pump-up dance track, the talented dance crew reflects Kesha's passion in their moves, and they most definitely bring the flames to this remixed version of the song. Watch the unexpected dance video above and then check out why Kesha's Rainbow may be the most important album of the year.
Your Heart Can't Handle These Succulents That Look Like Bunnies
Owning a succulent is almost a rite of passage for any home dweller, but how you display your succulents and the type of succulents you own say a lot about your personality. So what screams "I'm playful AF" more than an adorable succulent that resembles bunny ears? We can't think of anything. The scientific name for this plant is Monilaria moniliformis, but in the early growth stages, the plant sprouts what look like tiny green bunny ears; hence, the nickname. As the plant matures and grows, the "bunny ears" begin to droop down and eventually sprout white blossoms with yellow centers. While these plants are rare, you can find seeds on Amazon. They thrive in colder months indoors, so the season for planting these bunny succulents is coming! Take a peek below to see the different stages of growth, from tiny bunny ears to blooming beauties.
Women Who Eat a Lot of Bananas Might Have a Higher Chance of Conceiving Boys
There are a million and one wives' tales concerning what the gender of a pregnant woman's baby will be, but this myth about eating bananas before pregnancy to conceive a boy may actually contain some truth. According to a new study published by The Royal Society, what a mom eats prior to conception can actually affect the gender of her baby, mainly, eating a ton of bananas (or anything full of potassium) can lead to the birth of a bouncing baby boy.
The study, which looked at 740 British women during their first pregnancy (none of whom knew the gender of their baby), shows that the sex of the baby had some correspondence with the mother's prepregnancy diet. When looking at the mothers in the study who gave birth to boys, high potassium intake and overall high nutrition before conception was a main link between the women who had boys, which researchers believe to be a main factor in gender prediction. (It was also found that women who ate a lot of breakfast cereals before conception were more likely to have a boy, so basically a morning meal of Cheerios with banana slices could be the winning ticket here.)
As someone who for a completely unexplainable reason would love to have a boy as my first child, I'm not going to not up my potassium intake when the time for baby-making comes . . . stay tuned.

The Surprising Avocado Toast Hack You'll Want to Steal From Chrissy Teigen
Chrissy Teigen has taken over our lives and our kitchens with her first cookbook, Cravings, but most recently, it's her Snapchat videos that are bringing out the culinary goddess in all of us. Chrissy recently shared her avocado toast hack, what she's called "reverse avo toast," and we're totally hooked.
There's no denying the pure greatness that is avocado toast, but it's simple: bread, avocado, and the occasional egg or red pepper flakes. But Chrissy's hack takes away the bread and adds breadcrumbs for the avocado "toast" of our dreams. Instead of scooping the 'cado after cutting it in half, she advises peeling off the skin, and then slicing the pieces. Avocado porn at its finest!

Chrissy put cheesy herb breadcrumbs on top of the fresh avocado, but "smothered" is the only way to describe our crumbs after copying her recipe. What a genius spin to one of our favorite treats! "Reverse avo toast" is definitely getting a page in her next cookbook.
Bonus tip: She also shared that the ultimate way to find a good avocado is that she buys four and hopes for a good one.
I Tried Becca's New Lilac Highlighter - and It Turned Me Into an Iridescent Fairy
Image Source: POPSUGAR Photography / Madison Meltzer
Here's the thing: highlighters and I have never been the best of friends. I've tried cream versions. I've tried powders. And I've accepted the fact that I just can't achieve that luminescent glow I love - and envy - on beauty bloggers. I have oily skin that, without fail, develops an unsightly T-zone slick by 1 p.m. each day. I'm really self-conscious about it, and I feel like highlighters just draw attention to it and make me look greasier. I've been Team Matte Skin for as long as I can remember. Then, I tried Becca's new Lilac Geode Shimmering Skin Perfector ($38).
The buzzy new launch has been circling social media. POPSUGAR has an exclusive first look at it before it lands at Ulta.com on Aug. 20 and BeccaCosmetics.com on Sep. 24, and it had me at hello - or, at least, gave me high hopes. How could you not fall for the shiny, violet-colored compact? I opened it up, and inside, the powder was shaped in a cool geometric pattern and had the dreamiest pearl shade that looks both pastel purple and gold at the same time.

Then came the moment of truth. Using a fan brush, I applied some product to my cheekbones. "There it is!" I told myself as I immediately got the Instagram-worthy shimmer that had previously eluded me. It created an iridescent gold veil on my skin that looked gorgeous in sunlight but even persisted under my office's unflattering fluorescent lighting. My round face suddenly got cheekbones. Plus, the velvety powder blended so flawlessly into my skin that it could convincingly be passed off as a natural glow (not grease!).

I got so addicted, I applied some to my shoulders, too, for an all-over shine. It left me feeling like a GD fairy.

Needless to say, Becca has totally turned me into a highligher convert. Now, if you don't mind me, I'll be in the corner serving my best "influencer" face and taking selfies. Can you blame me?

This Ikea Purchase Is the Answer to All Your Small-Closet Problems
Tiny closets are a source of stress and frustration almost all small-space dwellers can relate to, but when you have to share that tiny closet with your significant other, battle lines are drawn. I should know. My husband and I tried to make due with his and hers dressers and a hanging clothes rack for a while, but the exposed rack of clothes and overflowing dressers just weren't cutting it. A wardrobe was needed. Not just any wardrobe, though. We needed his and hers wardrobes that could be customized, easily assembled, and purchased for less than a small fortune. Like any online editor would do, I took my quest to Pinterest where I discovered the answer to my problem: Ikea's Pax Wardrobe System. The interior organizing possibilities are seemingly endless, it was in stock at my local Ikea, and it was an option we could actually afford. After studying and pinning some inspiration pictures culled from other bloggers' Pax projects, my husband and I purchased one for each of us and customized them for our needs. Carrie Baltezore and Amy Ephraim are the rad duo behind CANE, a sophisticated and ultracool sugaring studio in San Francisco's NoPa neighborhood. But besides being the kind of people you feel cool just knowing, they're both smart, inspiring women who impressively each became business owners by the age of 30. One-year-old CANE is Amy's first venture with Carrie, while Carrie has owned HABIT, a similarly stylish SF hair-removal salon, since 2005. Together, they share the fresh perspective of a first-time business owner and the learnings of someone who's been through it before. The biggest takeaway: Try it! Take the leap!
POPSUGAR: What made you decide you wanted to own your own business at such a young age?
Amy Ephraim: I actually realized I wanted to own a hair-removal salon when I was about 23. I was working at my first "job job" after college (G-chatting the day away) and went to get a bikini wax. I loved the environment of the salon - the "girl's girl" attitude, the beauty-insider feel, the happy employees - and saw my future.
Carrie Baltezore: It happened pretty naturally. I didn't think about it as a dream. It wasn't a "maybe someday or let me talk to other business owners and map out a plan." It felt more like the next promotion at a job but with life.
PS: How did you decide you were financially ready to be a business owner?
AE: Is there ever such a thing as feeling financially ready? I never felt that way. I did feel ready to own my own business though and that was enough for me. I saved up and knew I would go through the very adult process of getting a small-business loan. It was complicated and frustrating at times but very empowering. I learned a lot about the stuff that usually sounds like gibberish to me. Sometimes I feel like I'm learning a new language.
CB: I didn't. I just know myself. I'm a workhorse. If I had to be open seven days a week, so be it. If I needed to moonlight at some odd job, so be it. At the time I wasn't married and didn't have kids. I had nothing BUT time to work.
"Is there ever such a thing as feeling financially ready? I never felt that way."
PS: How long did it take you to get the business going after you decided you wanted to take the leap?
AE: Seven years, I guess. I knew it would be a leap and that I wanted to do it right. When I first thought about opening a salon, the idea was very abstract. Sometimes, even today, I ask myself how I got here. A series of very fortunate events led me to this point. I met the right people who believed in me and supported me along the way. I met women who taught me about the kind of service provider and the type of boss I wanted to be.
CB (on opening HABIT): I got the call from a friend saying there was space in her building and asking if I wanted to open up my own place doing facials. I had just returned from my 30th birthday in Costa Rica and didn't have a dime. It was the biggest vacation I had ever taken in my life. I had walked to work that day because I didn't want to waste money on bus fare. It's funny to think about it. No money for the bus but I agreed to go look at a space for rent. At the time there were no "all waxing" businesses in SF. Only corner nail salons or big spas and nothing in between. I thought there was a need for one so I went for it. I worked out a business plan and luckily had two women who believed in me and honored me with a loan. I signed the lease on Aug. 1 and opened on Nov. 5 of 2005!
PS: What has been the most rewarding aspect of being a business owner?
AE: I feel really proud to be the owner of a business that serves my community. I feel so connected to SF and it feels good to be able to give back to the city that has given me so much. This is a city where people are excited to try new things and have a very high standard when it comes to quality. The fact that people keep coming back here makes me feel like we've done a great job.
CB: My clients. They are so trusting and funny and hilarious. They share the good and the bad with me. It's pretty cool to learn from people, about people, all day long. What's the phrase? If these walls could talk.
Amy at CANE
PS: What are some of the biggest struggles of owning your own business?
AE: Figuring out how to get a loan, how to build out a space, how to get plans approved by the city - that was so foreign to me and quite overwhelming. I still can't look at our plans and make sense of how the walls went up. Lucky for us, we had people who did understand and were patient with us. The day to day is wonderful. There are always a few hiccups here and there - the internet is out, we're out of sparkling water - but we're learning more and more and the ship runs pretty smoothly.
CB: Paperwork. It's not my strong suit at all. I'm always shocked when my yearly business registration is due. Or taxes. Didn't I just do that? My reaction to business paperwork is the same as a kid to a jack-in-the-box.
PS: What do you think it the most important aspect of growing a successful business?
AE: Customer service is key. Yes, we provide sugaring services, but we also offer so much more. We are part esthetician, part BFF, and part therapist. Since we are a teaching salon, we are constantly honing our skills and keeping up with changes in the industry. If that means trying bizarre-sounding services just so we can tell our clients about it, so be it. I'll report back after my eyelash perm.
CB: Never forget that people have choices. If you goof up, which you will, just try your best to make it fair and make it right. Great service is about being accountable.
PS: What's your philosophy for being "the boss"?
AE: I definitely try to lead by example and I am a "yes girl." I work with clients, fold laundry, and wash dishes just like everyone else. I also make time to offer my services to the girls working here. We are all on the same team and it's up to us to be supportive and helpful to each other. I take suggestions and opinions seriously. At the end of the day, CANE is my business and I want everyone, clients and staff, to be happy they are here.
CB: Help your staff grow before you. Empower them to come up with a better way to do things. Let them try it out. A fresh eye is usually the best eye.
Carrie at CANE
PS: What qualities should a person cultivate the most if they want to be an entrepreneur?
AE: My only suggestion is that anyone starting a business should love what they do. You're going to live and breathe your work for a very long time, so you should be passionate about it. Otherwise, you'll probably burn out really quickly.
CB: Ask for help when you need it. People are dying to support you if they know how. If you know you're not good at something, hire it out. My bookkeeper is a godsend. Be authentic. People can smell phony a mile away. Don't open a business because you think it will make you money. Only choose one you are going to love no matter what.
"Take the leap! If you believe in what you're doing, go for it!"
PS: Any advice for young women looking to become business owners?
AE: Yes! Learn as much as you can. Ask a lot of questions. Get help. There is no shame in asking for help. I am constantly surprised by how generous people are with their time and knowledge if you only let them be. Your business will feel like home when your community helped you build it. Take the leap! If you believe in what you're doing, go for it!
CB: Try it. Why can't it be you? Usually it's only ourselves that are holding us back. Fear is a big one. Figure out what you're afraid of and work on making that fear go away.
If Hopelessness Is Trending in Your Head
The following story, "If Hopelessness Is Trending in Your Head," was originally published on JohnPavlovitz.com.
We all have things trending in our heads at any given moment; words that occupy the daily bandwidth of our thoughts and monopolize our attention as we move through the world. These words become the lenses through which we see everything - our worth and significance, the day set before us, the life we want now, the future well beyond us.
The things trending in our heads have incredible power to lift or derail us in the present and so we need to make sure of something: we need to make sure they're not lies. We need to be certain that we do not begin to believe as gospel, what may not actually be true - lest we build our sense of peace and security in this day on something fraudulent.
When I look around right now I see many people for whom hopelessness seems to be trending; those worn down by a seemingly limitless stream of bad news, exhausted from their neverending battles; people depleted and bitter and concluding that there is little reason to keep going.
Friend, if you're there, I want you to know that I understand. I've been living alongside you there far too often, and that's why I want to tell you the truth in a lucid moment: hopelessness doesn't deserve to have the top spot in your head. It is not worth the joy it displaces. That hopelessness is a liar.
The bad news has a way of staying with us. We see things that outrage or terrify us, and we sticky note them so that they are forever in front of us, ever reminding us of how terrible it all is. We do this day after day, gradually accruing the evidence for why we should despair; seeing only the hurtful people, only the acts of violence, only the failures of humanity. The faces and the names and the images that discourage us become artificially magnified.
And all the while, we let goodness fly beneath the radar of our awareness; we allow countless acts of mercy and displays of courage and affirmations of decency come and go without acknowledging them, dwelling on them, metabolizing them into our hearts and being strengthened to keep going. We don't allow ourselves to see the infinite reasons to have hope. I want you to see them.
The truth is, dear friend: there are far more people in this place working for equality, diversity, love, and justice than opposing them - and it isn't even close. There are hundreds of millions of people in this world who (just like you) wake up every day trying to be the kind of person the world needs; lavish with compassion, overflowing with generosity, relentless with love. You are, even when you're not aware of it, surrounded on all sides by like-hearted people who are not okay with the suffering around them either.
That isn't to say that there isn't a great deal to grieve over or be alarmed by or pissed off about - it just means that these things aren't stronger than the massive, sprawling army of those who grieve, who are alarmed, who are pissed off. It means that you are in good and plentiful company in your profound not alrightness; that the vast majority of people feel as burdened as you are to make better days. This is the story you need to tell yourself because it is the truest one.
So today, take down the sticky notes of disappointment and fear and violence, so that you're able to see the landscape clearly. Scan the horizon for the builders, the lovers, the helpers, the healers - and allow them the precious bandwidth they deserve.
Let yourself be encouraged by the awesome, beautiful brilliant goodness that still occupies this place, and let a new word to ascend to the top spot of your mind, where it belongs.
May Hope trend in your head today.
Josh Hartnett and His Girlfriend Welcome Their Second Child!
Josh Hartnett is a dad again! The actor and his girlfriend, Tamsin Egerton, have reportedly welcomed their second child. While there are no further details at this time, the two were spotted shopping around Hampstead in London, England, with their little one on Monday. The notoriously private couple, who first met on the set of The Lovers in 2010, first revealed that they were expecting when the English actress showed off her baby bump at Vanity Fair's Oscars after-party in February. Josh and Tamsin are also parents to a 1-year-old daughter, whose name they have not yet revealed. Congrats to the happy pair!
If This Convincing Game of Thrones Theory Is True, Azor Ahai Is Already Dead
The following contains spoilers for Game of Thrones season seven.
In case you've somehow missed it, Game of Thrones fans' favorite collective pastime is speculating about the identity of Azor Ahai, or the prophesied "Prince That Was Promised." Several names have been thrown into the ring as possible fits for the prophecy, including everyone from Ser Davos Seaworth to Daenerys Targaryen, and of course Jon Snow. But a Reddit user called luxurysedan3030 purports that we still haven't met Azor Ahai . . . because he was dead before the series even started.
Several aspects of Rhaegar's life align perfectly with the prophecy . . . and both Jon Snow and Daenerys still have major roles to play.
For those unfamiliar with the detailed prophecy, here's a quick TL;DR version. During "The Long Night" centuries ago, a hero named Azor Ahai saved Westeros from death and chaos by driving the White Walkers far into the North using a flaming sword. The prophecy says that Azor Ahai will eventually return as "the Prince That Was Promised," being reborn under certain parameters - born amidst salt and smoke, eventually drawing a burning sword called "Lightbringer" from a fire to wield in battle - to defeat The Others again.
This Reddit theory outlines the idea that none of the living characters we've followed in the series are Azor Ahai, because the Prince That Was Promised was Rhaegar Targaryen, Daenerys's eldest brother (and Jon Snow's secret dad) who died during Robert's Rebellion. Hear us out, because several aspects of Rhaegar's life align perfectly with the prophecy . . . and both Jon Snow and Daenerys still have major roles to play.
Evidence For the Theory
1. Rhaegar was born amidst salt and smoke: "Rhaegar was born at Summerhall on the same day it burned down, meaning he was born amidst salt and smoke," writes the Reddit theorist. While not much is recorded about the tragedy surrounding Rhaegar Targaryen's birth, it is known that he is born as one of his family's castles burns to the ground. People wept as Summerhall went down in flames . . . tears are the salt, while fire provided the smoke.
2. Jon Snow could be Lightbringer: "The original Azor Ahai finally tempered the sword that defeated the darkness by driving it into the heart of his lover Nissa Nissa, killing her," explains the theory, adding, "Rhaegar put Jon Snow (Lightbringer) into Lyanna, and when he was born, it killed her."
While Jon is obviously not a flaming sword, he was created under the same conditions as Azor Ahai's sword: a third attempt at forging (because Jon is the third of Rhaegar's children) that requires the sacrifice of Azor Ahai's wife. Now that we know that Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar were legally married, the parallels between Azor Ahai's wife, Nissa Nissa, and Lyanna are strong.
Plus, remember Jon's vows to the Night's Watch? The Reddit user capitalized words that back up the Jon-as-Lightbringer facet of his theory: "I am the SWORD in the darkness. I am the watcher on the walls. I am the FIRE that burns against the cold, the LIGHT that brings the dawn, the horn that wakes the sleepers, the shield that guards the realms of men."
3. "The dragon has three heads": In the book series, during Daenerys's visions in the House of the Undying, she sees Rhaegar Targaryen. He says, "He is the prince that was promised, and his is the song of ice and fire." Then, he looks at Daenerys and tells her, "There must be one more. The dragon has three heads."
Jon Snow is, of course, the third Targaryen (dragon) child born to Rhaegar. He also fits this bill in another way, too: he may very well be the third dragon rider, especially after his surprisingly tender encounter with Dany's dragons in season seven.
4. Rhaegar was already a prince: This goes without saying, but Rhaegar Targaryen was born the prince in line for the Iron Throne. If it is literally a prince that was promised, he clearly fits the bill.
5. Azor Ahai's second coming might not be literal: Many fans have one critique of this theory, which is that the Azor Ahai prophecy speaks of the prince "wielding" Lightbringer in the battle against the darkness. Since Jon is not a literal sword, it would be impossible for him to be wielded. However, consider the fact that if Jon is the third dragon rider, he may ride into battle against the White Walkers atop Rhaegal, the dragon named for his father, Rhaegar. If we consider Rhaegal as his namesake's second coming, then this could absolutely qualify as Azor Ahai wielding Lightbringer in battle.
6. Others in Westeros believed this theory: It is mentioned in the books that Maester Aemon, Rhaegar's great-uncle who eventually serves in the Night's Watch, believes that Rhaegar fits the bill of Azor Ahai. As far as we know, this is due to Rhaegar's fiery birth at Summerhall, but Aemon is vocal about his belief and even convinces Rhaegar that he is the Prince That Was Promised for a short time.
7. George R.R. Martin has hinted at this before: According to discussion in the Reddit theory's comments, "George [R.R. Martin, the series creator] has talked about how he always wanted to write a story where the grand hero of the story dies or loses at the beginning, and the aftermath of it." Of course, many assumed that this dead hero at the start of the story is Ned Stark, but if this theory is accurate, it is actually Rhaegar (who is killed by Robert Baratheon during the Battle of the Trident).

9 Top Chef Insider Tips and Secrets, Straight From Judge Tom Colicchio
Top Chef has filmed a whopping 14 seasons so far, and the challenges keep getting tougher and the chefs keep getting better. On each show, host Padma Lakshmi and regular judges Gail Simmons and Tom Colicchio carefully judge the chefs on what food they've created and simultaneously crown a winner and educate the world on the beauty of cooking. I recently sat down with Colicchio at an event for Naked Juice's Drink Good Do Good campaign, and while he remained mum on a lot surrounding the show, he did divulge a few secrets on getting cast and how the show works.
- All the storylines are added postproduction. "If someone's making out with someone, I don't really care, I'm here for food only," Colicchio said of all the editing done after the show finishes filming.
- Judging can take several hours. While the food is eaten immediately after it's prepared, the judges will spend hours going over who should go home. "We really care and fight for a consensus," Colicchio said. And he said while the judges don't pick favorite chefs, they will try to be honest about who really deserves to be there and who falls flat.
- Each dish is judged independently. "You can win five in a row, but if number six isn't good, you're out. It's not cumulative," he said. That's why sometimes you'll see a fan favorite go home midseason if they make a tiny mistake. The judges don't care what you did last week, only what you're doing right now.
- Judging is based on a few things: is it cooked correctly; what was the intention; the balance of acidity, seasoning, and composition; and how well do they adhere to the challenge. The judges don't use a numerical or weighted system for judging, but they go with their gut.
- The show's producers have no say in who stays or goes - which can't be said for all reality shows, according to Colicchio.
- Chefs need to have a very strong and diverse résumé to be considered for the show. Usually cast members are executive chefs and chefs de cuisine, but some talented sous chefs will also be cast. In the past, producers have tried casting talented students, but they never make it, because according to Colicchio, Top Chef requires the type of skill and mentality that only come with working in a kitchen for years.
- The only dealbreaker for getting cast on the show: having worked for Colicchio previously.
- Chefs can't bring phones, magazines, or recipes with them to shoot, and they have no access to TVs or radios. They can bring a blank notebook to use while on the show, but that's it.
- Colicchio only ever spit out food during the show twice. Once was caught on camera, and once was not. The one that was caught happened in a desert, so if you're feeling ambitious enough to go back and find it . . .
Is the Rose Gold iPhone Going Away? An Investigation
It's almost the holidays - well, at least the annual September holiday when Apple releases new iPhones to the world. Last year, we saw the introduction of the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus (and the iPhone SE earlier in the year) and quickly became obsessed with portrait mode. And while plenty of rumors are making this year's iPhone 8 sound worth the wait (and money), there's also some potential bad news: no more rose gold color.
That's right, says security analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who's uncovered reliable rumors in the past - the new iPhone 8, as well as the new iPhone 7S and 7S Plus, will no longer come in rose gold, according to MacRumors. Instead, the new iPhones will only be available in black, silver, and a copper blush-looking gold. Leaked photos of the new color showed up on Chinese social media app Weibo, and one popular YouTuber also showed off the new color on a mockup iPhone.
As you can see, the new copper blush gold option still looks incredibly similar to the rose gold color. It's a bit darker, but still pretty. More importantly, rumors have been wrong in the past. Before the iPhone 7 was released, rumors pointed to the phone coming with wireless charging and a smart connector - which as we know now, didn't happen. So there's a slight chance that even though rose gold has been around for three years, it's not going away (yet).
For now, keep calm, hold your rose gold iPhone safe, and wait until September rolls around before saying goodbye.
After Years of Searching, This Is the ONLY Sunscreen That Keeps My Pale Skin Sunburn-Free
To call my skin "pale" would be a huge understatement. Translucent? Ghostly? The Irish Girl Sunbathing Meme come to life? Those are all more accurate. While I'm fine with blinding everyone on the beach as soon as I take off my cover-up (click here and here for reference), I'm most definitely not OK with getting sunburned. Unfortunately for me, getting sunburned is as easy as standing in the sun unprotected for literally just five minutes. Five minutes, people.
My relationship with the sun has been a perilous one, to say the least. There was the time I thought an SPF 8 bottle of tanning oil would keep me safe during an all-day trip to the beach when I was 14 (I ended up in the hospital with sun poisoning). And I can't forget my many trips to the tanning salon when I was in college. I'd spray myself with sunscreen before I got in the beds . . . I was that clueless.
With my pale skin, auburn hair, and big freckles, my dermatologist was ready to kill me every time I walked into her office for my twice-yearly appointment with a tan, and I don't blame her. Luckily for both her sanity and my skin, my days chasing a sun-kissed complexion (and a future melanoma diagnosis) ended, and my hunt for the perfect sunscreen began.
At this point, I've tried almost every product in the book, and while I've seen some instances of success from brands like Dr. Jart and Blue Lizard, it wasn't until I tried Sun Bum's Sunscreen Lotion in SPF 70 ($16) this June that I was finally able to go an entire day out at the beach with some friends without getting burned. When I got home later that night and realized the only marks on my skin were very minor tan lines, I nearly wept with excitement. I've never, ever in my life been able to be at the beach without getting sunburned (unless I spend every single second I'm there under an umbrella, which gets really old, really fast). It was a Summer miracle!
Since then, Sun Bum's magical formula has kept me blissfully burn-free all day long, whether I was kicking it on a boat on the Fourth of July or spending hours in the sun at Lollapalooza. I still make sure I wear a floppy hat and a long-sleeved cover-up when I can, but knowing I'm wearing a powerful sunscreen makes a huge difference.
The brand's motto, "Trust the Bum," is seriously no joke, and neither is what's inside the lotion. Not only does the Skin Cancer Foundation (SCF) officially recommend this Sun Bum product, but the sunscreen also enriches your skin with vitamin E (an antioxidant that helps to neutralize the free radicals that cause premature aging) and protects you from both UVA and UVB rays.
The sweatproof SPF 70 lotion is definitely on the thicker side, but it rubs in really well in my experience and isn't greasy. The thicker quality also means it lasts a lot longer than others I've used. That said, you should still reapply every few hours, just to be safe. As an added bonus, it smells fantastic. My only criticism is that it might be a bit too heavy to wear on the face if it's going to be hot out. For those truly steamy days, I stick to Neutrogena's Ultra Sheer Dry Broad Spectrum Touch Sunscreen in SPF 70. Regardless, the Sun Bum doesn't leave my skin irritated or my pores clogged.
Whether you're pale like me or simply in the market for a sunscreen that feels like silk but works like heavy-duty armor, I have no doubt this will be the answer to your Summer prayers - just ask my boyfriend, friends, and family members, whom I attempt to get to use it anytime we step outside.

Serious Question: What Happened to the Freakin' Hats on Harry Potter?
Rewatching Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone for the 100th time, I noticed something shocking. OK, shocking is a stretch, but my curiosity was piqued as the Hogwarts students happily toss their hats into the air in the Great Hall at the conclusion of the film (spoiler alert). Where do the hats go? After the first movie in the series, we never see the students wearing their classic black pointed hats again. Why, exactly, do they stop wearing them?
Alas, a Google search brought up a Reddit thread called "What happened to the hats?" with a few ideas. My favorite is probably this one from Reddit user trihedron:
"They threw them up into the air and forgot them in Sorcerer's Stone. The great hall was a mess with so many forgotten hats Filch requested that hats should be banned from the end of the year ceremony."
From what we know of Filch, this holds up. Others call out that this is just one of the many ways that the witches and wizards were "Muggleized" in the films, while Reddit user timewarp had a much more practical reason for the missing hats.
"Budget cuts. It was this or the Halloween feast."
Or, of course, there's another obvious culprit, as Reddit user TheMockingjay points out . . .
"Umbridge burned them."
And finally, there's perhaps the most creative answer of all, courtesy of Reddit user glitteredblack.
"They were needed at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter."
I guess we'll just have to wait until J.K. Rowling's next book, Harry Potter and the Mystery of the Missing Hats, to get to the bottom of this.
The Reason Sam Is So Sure That Bran Is Telling the Truth on Game of Thrones
While originally conceived as the bumbling, well-intentioned BFF of Jon Snow, Samwell Tarly has steadily become an integral character on Game of Thrones. In season seven alone, we've seen him do everything from scrape poop out of chamber pots and unearth a game-changing location of dragonglass to bravely (and disgustingly) cure Ser Jorah Mormont's greyscale at the Citadel. In the season's fifth episode, "Eastwatch," Sam puts his newfound knowledge (and courage) to the test when he stands up to a group of maesters disparaging the veracity of a devastatingly important note sent to them from Winterfell.
The note's author, Bran Stark, who's finally back home and acting like a total weirdo, warns the maesters that the Night's King and his army of wights are getting dangerously close to Westeros. "A crippled boy claims to have seen dead men on the march beyond the Wall, thanks to the magical help of a raven with three eyes," one maester says, poking fun at the seemingly crazy idea while Sam's eyes widen. The maester-in-training stands up for Bran, recounting how he once led the young Stark through the Wall "years ago" and that they should listen to what Bran has to say to prevent a repeat of the Long Night. Although the maesters unwisely brush off Bran and Sam's claim, the scene did make us wonder - when exactly did those two meet for the first time?
Back in season three, Bran, Hodor, and Jojen and Meera Reed camp out one night at the abandoned Nightfort castle (it's the same episode where Bran tells the chilling story of the Rat Cook). Bran wakes in the middle of the night to hear Samwell and Gilly breaking in to also take shelter, and Sam immediately recognizes Bran because of Hodor and his direwolf. Sam reluctantly agrees to take the gang north of the Wall the next day, and when they part, he gives them dragonglass to protect them from any White Walkers. Sam and Gilly head for Castle Black, while Hodor, Bran, and the Reeds begin their journey beyond the Wall.
It's during this same episode, "Mhysa," that Maester Aemon instructs Bran to begin writing letters to warn Westeros that the White Walkers have returned, though clearly that sentiment has yet to sink in. Fortunately, now that Sam is on the move (to where, we're not quite sure yet), hopefully that means he'll use both his and Bran's knowledge to get more people on their side. After all, few people know the threat of the White Walkers better than Bran and Sam.
15 Things You Didn't Know About Flip or Flop's Tarek and Christina
Tarek and Christina El Moussa gained fame with their wildly popular HGTV house-flipping series, Flip or Flop. The show follows along as Tarek and Christina buy distressed homes at discount prices, manage a renovation, and then stage the home in the hopes of selling it at a major profit. After seven successful seasons and seven years of marriage, the couple shocked fans last December when they announced plans to separate. While it looks like Tarek and Christina plan to finish filming season 8 of Flip or Flop, it's too early to tell whether a ninth season will ever happen. For fans who are eagerly awaiting the season eight premiere, here are some fascinating facts about the hosts that you likely didn't know.

This Sheet-Pan Hack Will Change the Way You Make Scrambled Eggs
Allow me to introduce you to the latest breakfast hack that's going to make your life easier: sheet-pan eggs. When I first saw these rectangular eggs popping up on Pinterest, I was immediately intrigued; they're like muffin-tin eggs 2.0.
A little skeptical of how the eggs would taste (and how messy the process would be), I hesitantly set out to try the trend for myself. And after testing out the foolproof process, I can attest to its brilliance. Like a combination between scrambled eggs and a frittata, this sheet of eggs can be cut up into squares to meal prep breakfast for the week or to assemble breakfast sandwiches for a crowd. If you're already feeling on board with this unusual cooking method, read on for a breakdown of how to re-create it.
First, preheat your oven to 300°F. A half sheet pan works best, and a full dozen eggs fit perfectly. I tried filling the pan with six eggs at first, only to realize that all 12 would indeed fit. Whisk a dozen eggs with about a teaspoon of salt and a half teaspoon of pepper until smooth and frothy. Using a paper towel or napkin, make sure to grease the pan all over so the eggs don't have a chance to stick. I used ghee, as it's best for high-heat cooking, but you could also use standard cooking spray.
Pour the eggs on the sheet pan, allowing them to spread evenly. I love the combination of eggs and goat cheese, so I topped mine with four ounces of the cheese, dolloping it all over. You could opt for plain eggs or mix in a number of additions like chopped spinach, bell peppers, feta cheese, cooked bacon, cheddar, or chives. Bake the eggs for 15 minutes or until set; you want them to be fully cooked with no runny spots remaining.
Top the eggs with fresh parsley or chives for color and fresh flavor, if desired. From here, you can divvy up the eggs into squares to serve immediately or to store in the fridge for up to a week.
