Nina Dobrev Admits She Was Terrified to Leave The Vampire Diaries

Nina Dobrev rose to fame with her many roles on The Vampire Diaries, but now she's putting all that behind her and making a new name for herself. Since the series wrapped earlier this year, the 28-year-old has been busy starring in new projects, going on fun adventures with her friends, and using her social media presence to voice her opinions about the current POTUS. Even though she has a lot of plates spinning at the moment, the actress managed to squeeze in a little time to grace the cover of Harper's Bazaar's September issue. Aside from looking absolutely gorgeous, per usual, she also opened up about her addiction to trying new things, why she left TVD, and how her immigrant background has shaped her political views. See her best quotes ahead.

Stranger's $20 Gesture Causes Struggling Mom to "Break Down" Into Tears

Some of the sweetest stories come out of the kind gestures of strangers, and many a mom has shared being helped out whether it was on a plane with her crying babies, at the hair salon trying to calm down her toddler, or out at a restaurant having a simple family meal when the bill was mysteriously footed. For the struggling parents who Mary Katherine Backstrom says "had come to this restaurant with a rosy notion of a quaint family breakfast" only to find their toddler wasn't into that plan, this mom was the kind stranger who reached out to help just when it was needed most.

"So I was sitting at breakfast, drinking coffee and people watching, when this sweet young couple caught my attention," Mary Katherine wrote in a post to Facebook. "They were taking turns removing their raging toddler from the table so they could scarf down some pancakes and coffee. They were fierce in gentleness, addressing an impossible situation with patience and grace that I could never dream of achieving."

After about 30 minutes of witnessing the father take his daughter outside to bounce her on his knee and the mother redirect her fussy toddler over and over, Mary Katherine says she "watched as this awesome team of parents finally raised their hands up in frustration and called it," asking the waitress for a check.

Because she's been there before with her own family and others have shown her kindness in ways she feels she can never come close to repaying, Mary Katherine decided to foot the parents' $20 bill and write them an encouraging note. She didn't do it for recognition so anticipated watching from her table as the parents received the news of their paid bill, then heading off on her way. Instead, she watched as the mom rushed outside to the parking lot, where she broke down into tears in her husband's arms. She wrote:

Moved beyond the brink by a $20 gesture. Folks, we never know how other people are hurting, struggling, suffering. This lady was so well put-together. She kept a stoic face throughout the entire ordeal and I would have NEVER guessed she was at her breaking point. But she was. Which brings me to my point.

There are millions of people on this earth who are at their breaking point, and most of the time we don't know who they are. Everyone is fighting their own silent battles, and this is one more reason we should always choose kindness. Today, you WILL encounter someone at the brink. Someone who feels like they are drowning in the day to day. The only question is: will you be the foot that pushes them further down or the hand that pulls them up for air?

Make kind choices today. You won't always see the results of your kindness. I usually don't. But, today I did.

Mary Katherine says this brief encounter reminded her of "the dire importance of this simple message: KINDNESS MATTERS. Make KINDNESS your mission. Be the hand that reaches out. And maybe one day, when you need it most, that same hand will return to you."

The Game-Changing Makeup Remover That's Completely Replaced My Wipes

A makeup remover that's reusable and chemical-free and takes off waterproof makeup with ease sounds too good to be true, right? Enter The Original MakeUp Eraser cloth, an ultrasoft microfiber blend that works with just warm water without any products. Since purchasing one a couple of years ago, it's completely replaced my makeup wipes. I'm never turning back.

The best part is that I never have to deal with the hassle of having to purchase refills anymore because it's machine-washable. Each week, toss it in the wash, and it's ready for immediate use. It's also a much more cost-efficient option than other products since one cloth is good for up to 1,000 washes! Other cleansing towelettes are around $7 for a 25-wipe pack versus $20 for one MakeUp Eraser.

So, how does it work?

All you need to do is add warm water and all your smear-proof/waterproof makeup and mascara will come right off, no scrubbing required. If you're not convinced yet, watch it in action in the video below.

One pro tip is to make sure you wring out the cloth and hang it up after each use so that it doesn't become a petri dish for bacteria. You are putting it on your face, after all, and you'll want to keep it as clean and dry as possible. As someone with sensitive skin, I found it best to purchase two to interchange between. Instead of waiting until the end of the week to replace, I toss one into the hamper halfway through and begin using the other. That way, I'm not wiping my face with a towel that's been wet for too long. Also, I should probably disclose that I have no sense of smell, which is why I've never had an issue with any odors that might result from a wet cloth hanging in the bathroom. I repeat, keep it as clean and dry as possible.

I've fallen in love with this miracle product so much that I've gifted it to family and girlfriends who've also converted over to the MakeUp Eraser. For travel, I take a mini-size version that I received in the POPSUGAR Must Have Box, but it also comes in glove form, jumbo size, and more.

You seriously need to try it out for yourself!

We Are Living in the Twilight Zone, and Every Woman Is Wearing This Blue Dress

In the Summer of 2016, a chambray dress with a distinct ruffled off-the-shoulder element began popping up in several major retailers. Though its origins are unclear - Is Reformation to blame? Was it H&M? - Zara's affordable iteration seemed to be the one worn most frequently. Much like everyone else with eyes, comedian Lulu Krause picked up on the dress's ubiquity and has been documenting its appearances ever since.

On Tumblr, Lulu uploads sightings of the blue dress on her blog simply titled, "The Blue Off-The-Shoulder Dress From Zara." She also uploads the same pictures to Facebook, where other users are able to share their own sightings in the comments. Lulu has since amassed over 30 pictures of the blue dress out in the wild.

In an interview with Refinery29, Lulu explained that she kept seeing the dress last year, however, she thought the trend would surely die this Summer. To her surprise, it was still going strong. "I wasn't actively searching for a project like this - the dress was popping up so frequently that it's almost like . . . it chose me," she said.

Lulu also admitted that she finds the dress to be flattering, but she personally didn't enjoy wearing it. She explained, "The reason I am so fascinated by this dress in particular is that it's remarkably constricting. A friend actually lent me the dress, and I took it for a test drive, which was as enlightening as it was entertaining. I'd say you lose around 80 percent of your mobility in it."

Though Lulu's blog has resurrected the conversation surrounding the dress, a viral Facebook thread from 2016 first tackled the craze. The thread began with one picture and has since received hundreds of contributions over the course of a year. Ahead, see the dress's astonishing influence and browse several options if you're so inclined.

So This Is What Selena Gomez Looks Like Without Makeup

"I'll have what she's having," is exactly what we'd like to say to Selena Gomez's esthetician. The musician bravely showed off her bare, makeup-free skin in her new "Bad Liar" video on Spotify - and she looks stunning!

It does appear like her cheekbones and lips are a bit glossy, but it's sheer and could even be from a product like Aquaphor or Vaseline. Other than that, it looks like she brushed up her brows and straightened her hair. The rest is just that magical celebrity glow.

The stripped-down Selena goes well with the meaning of the song, which feels raw and emotionally open. At the end, she sings: "Let's make reality, actuality, a reality." Well, we're hoping a makeup-free red carpet appearance becomes a reality soon!

The Iconic "F*ck Trump" Lipstick Is Now Donating All Proceeds to Charlottesville Victims

MAC's Latest Taraji P. Henson Collection Is Gold, Glittery, and Glamorous

As with all Viva Glam goods, 100 percent of the proceeds are donated toward helping women, men, and children affected by HIV/AIDs. These Are the 23 Emotional Stages of Choosing a Costume With Your Kid

Either right after Halloween of last year or sometime over the course of this year, your child saw a movie/played a game/watched a TV show that had an awesome character in it. Their immediate response to this awesomeness was likely, "I want to be this for Halloween!" Sounds all fine and dandy, right? Wrong.

As Halloween shops pop up in local malls and your child watches more and more movies with great characters, the art of choosing a Halloween costume suddenly becomes your and your and child's Everest (and in this metaphor, you are tethered to your child, who is frolicking in a field at the bottom of the mountain as you try to climb to the top swiftly and efficiently while being chased by bears).

In short, it's damn-near impossible to come out of this experience unscathed.

If you're anticipating a million changes of mind, buying and returning three costumes before settling on the right one, and endless tantrums in the middle of the aisle, where, of course, the animatronic decorations are going off as you try to pick up your child off the ground, we totally feel your pain.

Read through for the 23 stages of choosing a Halloween costume with your child.

Kit Harington Wants the GOT Cast to Get Matching Tattoos When the Show Ends

There are only eight episodes left in Game of Thrones ever, and Kit Harington is already brainstorming ways to commemorate the conclusion of the epic HBO show. During an appearance on The Late Late Show on Wednesday night, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (who plays Jaime Lannister) revealed that his costar wants everyone in the cast to get matching tattoos. Even though he isn't too keen on the idea, he said he could be persuaded depending on the design. So what exactly qualifies as a great tattoo? While host James Corden suggested they all get dragons on their backs, Lin-Manuel Miranda joked that Nikolaj should get his onscreen sister Cersei's name with a heart (ew). Guess we'll just have to wait and see if he actually gives in.

This Mom Had a Maternity Shoot at Target to Celebrate Her Rainbow Baby – And It’ll Feed Your Soul

There are few places as welcoming, as restorative, as fulfilling for a mom as her local Target. So, it should come as no surprise that a mom would stage her maternity shoot at one, and yet, when photographer Heather Pippin unveiled the photos, moms everywhere let out a collective sigh – we were kicking ourselves: why didn't I think of that?!

"This was so much fun, a creative way to pay homage to all those awesome Target Moms out there," Heather, of Inspired By a True Story Photography, said. "The ones with the messy buns, half empty before you even make it to the back of the store Starbucks cups, toys you aren't really buying and cheese balls to get you through."

Page D. Miller, the St. Louis woman at the center of this genius photo shoot, is definitely one of those moms, and the playful day was just what she needed. Currently pregnant with her third baby, her youngest child Clarke tragically died from SIDS a few months prior when he was just three months old.

"This is Page's rainbow baby," Heather told POPSUGAR. "We didn't plan the shoot based off of her being pregnant or baby Clarke, but it has turned into a positive way to really show how tough of a Mom Page is and I am happy for that!"

Page, who is due any day now, and her toddler daughter Avery took to the aisles and treated the shoot "as a routine trip," even running some errands along the way.

Why wasn't Page's husband, Brad, in any of the photos? He somehow doesn't understand the allure of Target like the rest of us. Heather joked: "Surprisingly nobody thought we were too weird except Brad, who would not be seen with us on this day."

Go ahead and look at every amazing snapshot from the maternity shoot. Warning: you'll have an immediate urge to drive to your nearest Target.

The Hysterical Reason 1 Mom Was Approached by a Hot Guy Isn't What You'd Hope

Mary Katherine Backstorm got a lot more than she bargained for when she was grocery shopping one morning and a very handsome stranger approached her in the parking lot. While every mom loves a little attention now and then from a helpful passerby, the guy who ran up to her had a different agenda, according to her Facebook post.

"I was tossing the last bag of groceries into my trunk, when a gentleman who looked EXACTLY like Liam Hemsworth jogged across the parking lot toward me," she said.

Once he got a bit closer, Backstrom described the magical moment where "his dashing blue eyes met mine as he reached his hand out." The man kindly forked over something Backstrom had dropped: a pair of kid-sized Paw Patrol underwear complete with poop stains.

Thankfully, her Facebook followers were quick to show her the silver lining.

"If poop stained Paw Patrol undies is what it takes to spend a few moments in the company of a Liam Hemsworth look-a-like I need to get a pair," wrote one woman.

Another mom offered words of support: "Should have taken a pic of hottie hero! No shame in the mom game."

The joy of children, right?

This Viral Video of an "Extreme" Muscle Cramp Is Unlike Anything You've Ever Seen

Everyone who has ever had that toe-curling pain after a workout or been disturbed in the middle of the night by those cringe-inducing spasms knows just how uncomfortable muscle cramps can be. However, few have ever felt - or seen - anything quite like this.

Angel Bermudez recently posted a video on Facebook that captured what happened to his leg after a session at the gym. "Start to relax and then this happens," he captioned the shudder-worthy video. "F*cken cramp. Look at this sh*t. Painful yes it was."

In the clip, Angel's muscle is contracting during an extreme spasm, and although many are disturbed by the visual, they can't help but share. "Looked like a godd*mn alien in my damn leg was gonna bust out," Angel added.

One user noted that it looked like his leg was having a baby, and we just can't look away.

If You Experience Hormonal Breakouts, You'll Thank God For This Mask

I've yet to find a woman who hasn't encountered this issue: you're about to embark on that time of the month, and your skin appears to be mirroring just how annoyed, inflamed, and pissed off you feel on the inside. (If you haven't, please DM me immediately so I can paint a full picture.) But I've found something that has helped my skin during this monthly visit - premenstrual, if you will - and it doesn't require removing my uterus. Yay! In fact, it's a face mask, and it's going to be something you will wish they sold at Costco. Someone just get me a giant vat of this stuff.

The mask comes from Renée Rouleau, Demi Lovato's go-to esthetician and Texas native. She has helped me with two major skin care woes in my life, issues that have plagued me. First, she is the one who identified that I had melasma when I was 25. Mid-20s me thought the dark spots on my forehead and cheeks, which could appear to be shadows to the naked eye, were remnants of my self-tanner that I wasn't able to wash off. (To be young and naive.) It was during a facial at her Dallas location that she gently brought up that I had melasma and informed me of what triggered it: my birth control.

This changed my life. Seriously. I got off birth control, something I was able to do without worry at the time. I stopped upsetting my melanocytes - the cells that produce melanin, or pigment, in the skin - with heated, aggressive treatments. (For the most part.) I wore a hat to the beach and aspired to stay out of the heat in general, knowing the temperature could set my melasma off. And although there's a little bit on my forehead, it's less noticeable than it once was.

Then, a few years later, I had a breakout after leaving the Coachella Valley. God help me. My cheeks were ridden with red bumps and pustules, something I knew wasn't normal, and I realized they recurred each time I left Palm Springs. My (since dropped) dermatologist was quick to prescribe me pills to kill whatever it was, but wanting actual answers, I wrote Renée, who is now based in Austin. She asked me a variety of questions about my weekend that helped her pinpoint what I was experiencing: acne cosmetica. Spending long days in the dry climate with heavy winds and an oil-based foundation meant my pores were being blocked by my foundation and increased my oil production, resulting in what looks like a breakout. She made an easy suggestion: wear powder foundation on your next trip. And you know what? I haven't had a breakout in the desert since!

Now you know that I trust this woman. She dug deeper than my dermatologist bothered to in order to find the right solution. This is incredibly helpful when you're trying to fix any skin issue you have; it is invaluable.

Visiting Renée over Golden Globes weekend, I got a chance to receive a facial and learn about her new products. First, she told me I needed to "put the fire out of my skin." It was inflamed as hell, and I had several cysts that I hadn't battled with in some time. And truth be told, it kind of comes with the territory when you're testing skin care products regularly, but she reminded me that I must be gentle. She took a minute to give my skin a chill pill in the form of a rubber mask, then introduced me to her newest baby, an anti-breakout solution for hormonal acne that won't dry out your skin: the Rapid Response Detox Masque ($61).

Is it too good to be true? No. It works. I've tested it for a month, and I'm currently wearing the sheerest foundation I own - a compact from Laneige - if that gives you any indication. It works to help with clogged pores that result from travel, hormones, and even sleeping with makeup on. Renée suggests it for premenstrual acne to help "disrupt the acne cycle." This is mask is lightweight and dreamy; when it dries, it doesn't feel hard, sticky, or taut. Renée suggests exfoliating before applying the mask, so lightly scrub or use a peel to help get rid of dead skin. The mask itself is a golden, shimmery gel. Slather it on and let the following eliminate your future breakouts: tea tree leaf oil is antimicrobial and an anti-inflammatory that helps with acne bacteria. Helping to stop inflammation is key when it comes to getting rid of your breakouts, which is why she also included lichocalchone, or Chinese licorice, which helps soothe the skin. Manuka branch/leaf oil helps with the microbial - or bacteria - count on your skin's surface, and she included a salicylic acid complex to help exfoliate and reduce oil.

This mask doesn't include parabens, synthetic fragrances, synthetic dyes, SD alcohol, or gluten, which my skin was thrilled about. I use it once a week, and it's recommended you leave on for about 15 minutes. (I tend to go over since I get distracted and forget I have it on.) Many masks take a few minutes to get off because they leave patches of product behind. This slides off the skin easily and leaves your with a glow afterward.

Investing in your skin, period, is always a good idea, but especially during that time of the month. My skin will take any help it can get!

1 Makeup Artist Just Took the Mermaid Trend a Little Too Far - but It's Pretty Impressive

Just as unicorns have become a staple in the food world, mermaids have full-on infiltrated the beauty sphere, inspiring gorgeous makeup looks, products, and even brushes. Many makeup artists mimic the tail-flipping mythical creature using glitter galore and pretty blue hues, but one talented artist just showed another - darker - side of mermaids, and the internet is freaking out over it.

Channing Carlisle took a slightly shocking route with her hyperrealistic mermaid-inspired look: she transformed her leg to make it look ripped open to reveal scales underneath. I'm not gonna lie; at first glance, I thought it was pretty darn gruesome and took the mermaid trend a bit too far. But once I saw that it was all done with special effects makeup (and no skin was actually harmed in the making of it), I realized it's extremely impressive. I can barely even apply my eyeliner properly, but Channing somehow managed to make her leg look like a prop from the set of a mermaid murder-mystery film. This girl's got crazy talent, and that's something to be celebrated just as much as a MUA nailing the perfect cat eye.

It seems like the internet had somewhat similar reactions. When Channing shared the double-take-worthy image on Twitter, it garnered more than 50,000 retweets and nearly 200,000 "likes," not to mention that tons of fans and followers responded to her tweet sharing their praise for her mind-blowing makeup skills.

Kate Middleton's Favorite Blazer Is Coming in the Most Unexpected Color For Fall

This Silky Mineral Sunscreen Doesn't Leave a White Cast - and I'll Never Turn Back

Not to brag or anything, but I have pretty good skin. I frequently get complimented on my complexion, which I appreciate, especially because I work hard at keeping my skin healthy. Whenever I get questions from friends regarding what they can do for better skin, I always mention two cardinal beauty rules that I never break: don't go to bed with makeup on, and always wear sunscreen.

My obsession with sunscreen is almost comical, and many of my friends look at me like a psychopath while I'm screaming at them for tanning. Despite my dogmatic sunscreen habits, I'm also incredibly picky about sunscreen formulas. Luckily, the Drunk Elephant Umbra Tinte Physical Daily Defense Sun Screen SPF 30 ($36) passed my test, and I have a new favorite item to add to my skin-care routine.

The tinted product is a broad-spectrum SPF with mineral sunscreen, meaning that its ingredients physically block your skin from being hit by the sun's rays. This is different from chemical sunscreens, which use active ingredients that absorb UV rays. This creates a chemical reaction that changes into heat, releasing it from the skin.

Many people try to avoid chemical sunscreens because they are potentially irritating to the skin, clog pores, and cause skin discoloration. However, chemical sunscreens also are typically thinner and more comfortable to wear than their physical counterparts.

The problem with physical (sometimes called mineral) sunscreens is that the main ingredient, zinc oxide, tends to leave a white cast on the skin and have a chalky formula. Somehow, Drunk Elephant has found a way around this pitfall with Umbra Tinte. The physical tinted sunscreen contains 20 percent zinc oxide but manages to have a soft texture and matte finish and is a great base for the rest of your makeup. It's not the least bit chalky and leaves behind no white residue or strong sunscreen smell.

The product comes out of the tube a beige hue but can be blended into the skin easily and is flattering on light-medium to deep skin tones. We tested the formula on both medium-light skin and deep skin, and the sunscreen blended in flawlessly on both. The lotion gives the wearer a glowy, filtered appearance with a light amount of coverage. If you have a very light complexion, Drunk Elephant recommends its nontinted version, Umbra Sheer Physical Daily Defense SPF 30 ($34).

In addition to sun protection, the cream is also packed with antioxidants to benefit and moisturize your skin. It contains sunflower shoot extract, raspberry seed oil, and marula oil, which help moisturize and prevent premature aging.

This is a great choice for those of us who prefer more natural beauty products, and I can't wait to replace the white-tinted sunblock in my medicine cabinet with this one.

Marble Lips Are the Mesmerizing Makeup Trend We Can't Get Enough Of

If you fell head over heels for the marble nail art trend last year, you'll become full-on obsessed with the latest way these streaky stones are infiltrating our beauty routines: marbled lips.

These luxe pouts have started flooding Instagram, with makeup artists puckering up to show off their glam variations of the trend. Some simply combine shades of white, gray, and black, while others opt for vibrant hues like blue and purple and even incorporate strokes of gold. Meanwhile, I can barely even apply regular ol' red lipstick without messing something up, but I digress . . .

Mastering this picture-worthy makeup look may seem complex, but it's actually pretty uncomplicated, as there's really no science behind the "perfect" marble lips. To DIY this viral pout in the tried-and-true muted color scheme, simply cover your lips with a white base, use a fine brush to apply random strokes of gray and black, and top them off with a swipe of clear gloss for a shiny finish. It's as easy as that!

Ahead, watch a step-by-step video tutorial to learn how to craft these lips IRL, followed by a captivating array of marble lip art looks from all over Instagram.

This Is the Stupidest Mistake You Can Make at Trader Joe's

It's hard to go wrong at Trader Joe's with so many solid and affordable options, but there is one mistake you could be making without even realizing it. If you're not asking to try products before you buy them, you could end up wasting a lot of money on groceries in the long run. Yep, that's right - Trader Joe's has a "try before you buy" policy! In addition to its generous return policy, the store has a policy that allows customers to try just about anything that they're unsure about buying. This includes snacks, produce, and ready-made foods like salads, sushi, and cheese.

I spoke to an employee at my local store and he confirmed that the only foods not included are raw or frozen foods (that require cooking) and alcohol (of course). This is not to say that you should be the annoying person who asks to try 20 things every time you shop there, but it means you should totally ask an employee to open up any new Trader Joe's products you're eyeing, like canned matcha tea or sweet sriracha bacon jerky. It's not likely that your bill will be superhigh anyway, but this is another way to save money at Trader Joe's, and honestly, it's just another reason to love the store.

Still Confused About Obamacare? Here's a Simple Explanation

US President Barack Obama is applauded after signing the Affordable Health Care For America Act during a ceremony with fellow Democrats in the East Room of the White House on March 23, 2010, in Washington DC.

The debate over healthcare in this country is far from over, and it's clear from President Donald Trump's tweets that he is still determined to see the Affordable Care Act (ACA) repealed and replaced. However, as the conversation continues around ACA - better known as Obamacare - it looks like some Americans are still unsure over what the exactly bill contains and does for citizens. So before you write off Obamacare, take a deep dive into its history and what it's done for the country.

When did Obamacare pass?

The ACA was signed into law on March 23, 2010, by then-President Barack Obama. However, it faced another hurdle in 2012, when its fate was left in the hands of the US Supreme Court. The court ruled the law was constitutional but did strike down a part of the law that required states to participate in expanding the Medicaid program, spelling an overall victory for the legislation.

What are some of the key parts of Obamacare?

The law introduced several new regulations that both private insurance companies and citizens must follow, like:

  • Letting people stay on their parents' health insurance until they reach the age of 26.
  • Providing free birth control with no copay.
  • Refusing to let insurance companies deny coverage for people with preexisting conditions.
  • Eliminating insurers the option to charge someone more based on their gender.
  • Requiring insurance companies to pay for hospital admission, any emergency room visits, and preventive care, like the flu shot.
  • Prohibiting annual limits on health benefits.
  • Legally requiring Americans to be insured or pay a fine of either $695 or 2.5 percent of your household income, whichever is higher.

The signing of Obamacare also led to the introduction of the ACA marketplace (also called the healthcare exchange), which allows Americans to buy private insurance if their employer does not provide it.

What are the goals of Obamacare?

According to HealthCare.gov, Obamacare has three main purposes: to ensure that more people have health insurance, expand the Medicaid program, and "support innovative medical care delivery methods designed to lower the costs of health care."

Has Obamacare helped people?

In short, the ACA has helped millions of Americans get health insurance coverage. According to the National Center for Health Statistics, only 28.6 million Americans were without health insurance in 2016, compared to the 48 million in 2010. However, critics of Obamacare believe it costs people too much money and point to examples of rate increases and say the requirement to purchase insurance infringes on the lives of people and businesses. This reflects a fundamental difference in conservative and liberal views: liberals tend to view health care as a right, while conservatives largely think health care and insurance coverage should be up to individuals.

Selena Gomez's Sexiest Dresses Never Leave You Wanting More

Let's get one thing straight: Selena Gomez is sexy. When I watched her perform at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in 2015 just a few rows away from the stage, I thought, "OK, she is absolutely the most beautiful celebrity I have ever seen in person." While the 24-year-old songstress has the option of dressing to show off her every curve, baring cleavage and flaunting her legs in a short hemline at the same time, her signature look - which she's defined with the help of stylist Kate Young - puts a modest hold on sexy.

Selena's most striking looks show skin, but in small amounts at a time. Perhaps you sneak a peek of side boob when she lifts her arms or you see a slip of thigh as she climbs the stairs in a slitted gown. Selena does not put her entire body on display; she finds easy, effortless ways to flatter her best assets. When you scroll through the photos ahead, you'll see exactly what I mean. These are the sexiest dresses Selena has ever worn, most simply because they're just a touch revealing, and they never leave you wanting more.

Every Parent Needs to See What Meningitis Did to This Toddler

Like most toddlers, when Taylor Marshall took his first steps, he needed some encouragement and assistance. But unlike many others, this 20-month-old tot also needed help from a prosthesis on one leg as well as a full-length splint on the other.

This major milestone in the British boy's life is one that almost never happened. Only a year ago, Taylor was diagnosed with meningococcal septicaemia, and his mother, Terri Lewsley, was told that her son only had hours to live. "It all happened within the space of a day," Terri described to Today.

Taylor was just 8 months old when his family learned the devastating news that their baby boy had meningitis. This bacterial disease can kill within hours, and there are an estimated 1.2 million cases worldwide. Doctors put the baby in a medical coma for 17 days, and his family watched as gangrene turned his limbs black. "We had him christened and all the family came in to say goodbye," Terri said. "There were a lot of prayers being said."

After he had his left leg, his right toes, and all of his fingers amputated, Taylor recovered over the next seven months in the hospital. Now the happy toddler is adapting to life with his prosthetic leg - and is officially taking things one step at a time.

"He is back to being a normal toddler, really. It's not changed his personality. Since his recovery and being back home, he's gone back to himself," Terri added. "He plays and laughs. He's a really happy little boy."

Meningitis is swelling of the lining around the brain and spinal cord and septicaemia is the blood poisoning form of the disease. While viral meningitis is not typically life threatening, bacterial meningitis is very serious and parents shouldn't wait to seek medical help if they suspect that their child might be sick. Babies are more at risk of contracting bacterial meningitis than any other age group and newborns are particularly susceptible to meningitis caused by listeria, E.coli, and group B streptococcal. While vaccines protect against this potentially devastating disease, they can't prevent all forms of meningitis and septicaemia. These are the common symptoms in babies that parents should be aware of:

  • A tense or bulging soft spot
  • A high fever (but can run normal-low in babies under three months)
  • Cold hands and feet
  • A dislike of being picked up
  • A sleepy expression or too sleepy to wake up
  • Rapid breathing or trouble breathing
  • Shivering
  • 'Pink prick' rash marks or purple bruises
  • An unusual grunting noise
  • Vomiting or refusing to eat
  • Pale or blotchy skin
  • A stiff or floppy body
  • Limb or joint pain

This Stunning Lowe's Bedroom Makeover Only Looks Like It Cost a Million Bucks

When you gaze upon the landscape of this couple's neglected bedroom - a mattress strewn across a basic bed frame, nonexistent curtains, tired carpeted floors, and a mismatched second-hand dresser - the idea of decorating it feels completely overwhelming. Instead of taking the easy way out and shutting the door to hide their bedroom, the couple called in design pro Monica Mangin, who tackled it on Lowe's original series The Weekender.

The bedroom overhaul included replacing the carpet with laminated wood flooring and creating a breathtaking DIY shibori wallpaper accent wall. After that, it was all about the decor. While we tend to think of Lowe's more for home project supplies rather than decor, we were blown away by all the beautiful and reasonably priced goods the retailer supplied to outfit the space. Keep reading to get an up-close look at the vibrant, modern bedroom and everything in it.

Welp, Daniel Craig Is Definitely Coming Back to James Bond

Following 2015's Spectre, Daniel Craig has been cagey about his potential return to the James Bond franchise. Not only did he (in)famously tell a reporter that he'd "rather slash [his] wrists" than ever play 007 again, but there have been numerous campaigns for other actors to take up the mantle, from Idris Elba to Charlize Theron. Though the Logan Lucky actor has refused to confirm one way or another if he'll play the titular spy in the next Bond film, that all changed during his Tuesday night appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.

While chatting with Colbert, Craig confirmed that "yes," he'll be back, and that he's been sitting on the news for a couple of months. "We've been discussing it, we've just been trying to figure things out," he said. "I always wanted to, I needed a break." The as-yet-untitled Bond film will be the 25th in the series and is set for a November 2019 release date. "I think this is it. I just want to go out on a high note," he added, noting that it will be his last outing as James Bond. "I can't wait."

You Will Cry Laughing Watching Melissa McCarthy Pretend She’s on Chopped

Melissa McCarthy stopped by The Late Show With Stephen Colbert to promote her latest comedy, The Boss, and things took a hilarious turn when a Chopped spoof happened. Colbert wanted to know what Melissa and her husband, Ben Falcone, watch at home with their children, and she said, "Chopped . . . I would love to be on it." In order to fit in the alotted time, Colbert said, "we'd have to take everything and smoosh it down," and with that, Smooshed was born.

Colbert gives his best Ted Allen impression when he introduces the basket ingredients - salted crackers, minimarshmallows, and bacon bits - and offers up the pantry ingredients, saying, "Also available is our pantry, which is whatever we could find in the breakroom fridge." With one minute on the clock, Melissa and Ben do their best panic-mode cooking and whip up some . . . interesting dishes. "I'm working on a sweet and savory," Melissa said, and I'll just say there's bologna, peanut butter, and pickles involved. "Mine is a rustic hash. Tuscan-influenced - I played with crunchy, sweet, savory, and meaty," she said. Watch the hilarious video to see the results for yourself; you'll want to gag and cry tears of laughter at the same time.

The 5 Biggest Mistakes You Make When Getting in Shape For Summer

It's the end of July and the sun is out! It's natural to start thinking about a few weeks by the beach, hot weather, and, invariably, the thought of being "ready" for Summer creeps in, whatever that means. As a trainer, I believe that we should feel comfortable and happy all the time - body positivity is very important! But I also know that being healthy and feeling good is important too. And, yes, some women want to look good by losing weight or toning up - and that's OK! The problem lies in equating looking good with being slim. This constant pursuit of trying to look our best can be stressful, so instead, focus on feeling your best by eliminating these quick fixes from your life and focusing on sustainable changes.

1. Crash dieting

You know the drill. That blissful upcoming beach vacation, where cocktails and sunshine are imminent. You panic and decide to starve yourself in the hope that you'll lose weight quickly, but, well, you can guess the results: you lose couple of pounds, feel awful, and just want to stuff your face full of doughnuts. Crash diets never work.

The emergency fix? Replace refined carbs with leafy greens. After a week of replacing carbs with healthy veggies, not only you will feel lighter and less hungry between meals, but your cravings for sweets and snacks will diminish.

2. Body sculpting

It's not unheard of to want toned thighs, slimmer arms, and a flat belly, but trying to spot tone is a huge waste of time. When done alone, isolated exercises rarely trigger the results you want.

The emergency fix? Stick with big, compound exercises that work the whole body like squats, push-ups, or deadlifts. Focus on intensity and make these part of a well-rounded fitness routine. Your muscles will respond by becoming stronger and more toned, and you'll also feel more energized.

3. Only doing cardio

In general, too much cardio is not the most effective way to get fit. Exercise should be about making your body adapt, and too much cardio prevents your body from making lean muscle. Without strength training, you miss out on building long, lean, and toned limbs.

The emergency fix? When doing cardio, focus on high-intensity interval training. Hill sprints, kettlebell swings, and jumping rope will burn fat while also building - and maintaining - lean muscle. You can also pack in an intense workout in only 10 to 20 minutes, which is a huge bonus if you find an hour on a treadmill or elliptical boring.

4. Too much of the same thing

Your body adapts to exercise quickly, and when it gets used to the same routine over and over, fat loss and muscle toning taper off.

The emergency fix? Mix it up and try something new. Sure, it might be a bit awkward, but ask anyone about their first yoga class. It's likely that they couldn't get into Downward Dog without a bit of a struggle either. However, the challenge and learning process of something new makes your body work harder, resulting in a boost to your fitness.

5. Worrying about the idea of a "bikini body"

Putting effort into something and not seeing results straight away is very, very frustrating. You begin to wonder if there's any point and you start to doubt yourself. All this results in extra stress. And how does your body react to this? By demanding comfort food and lazy days in.

The emergency fix? This is the time to remember that every body is a "bikini body." It's more important to feel good about yourself and focus on the benefits of being healthy and happy all year round. Turn your personal body positivity up to full volume and remember that being healthy is a state of mind not defined by a two-piece outfit.

Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid Are Bringing Back the 1 Belt You All Had in Middle School

While plenty of girls stocked up on Gucci logo belts ahead of the Summer season, Kendall Jenner decided to go a different route. She shopped Gucci, but for a snakeskin style. The supermodel stepped out for dinner with her sister Kylie at Pace in LA, cinching her high-waisted denim with the design and balancing the look with a ribbed tank and white patent booties.

The neutral combination immediately reminded us of an outfit Gigi Hadid wore a couple of months back. Gigi's own snakeskin belt was by Y-Project, a complement to her deconstructed jeans by the brand and the Stalvey minibag she carried in the same pattern.

The look is one we remember from the '90s, when we wove our snakeskin belt through the loops of a denim miniskirt and completed the look with a polo tee. Kendall and Gigi offer a fresh take on the trend, and with some of our favorite retailers churning out modern variations, we're ready to try it again. Read on to see Kendall and Gigi's belts, then shop Kendall's exact Gucci piece along with similar options.

Fiber: The Weight-Loss Wonder You're Not Eating Enough Of

If you want to lose a few pounds, there's one thing you should definitely be eating more of: fiber! Why? This plant-based roughage is a weight-loss wonder. But fear not: you don't need to resort to eating old-school oat bran cereal or adding a fiber supplement to your smoothie in order to up your fiber intake. Some of the most delicious foods, such as raspberries, strawberries, chickpeas, edamame, and sweet potatoes, are also some of the highest in fiber. Read on to get the lowdown on how fiber can help you shed pounds, find out how much fiber you should be eating, and get 10 yummy fiber-rich meal and snack ideas.

How Much Fiber Do I Need?

We all know most Americans aren't eating enough fiber, but how much do you really need? The USDA recommends you eat 14 grams of fiber for every 1,000 calories. So, if you are eating a 2,000-calorie diet, you need about 28 grams of fiber per day. Most Americans get about half that, since the Standard American Diet is high is processed foods and animal fats that are devoid of fiber. In order to get more fiber, you need to eat more plant foods: fruits and vegetables, whole grains, nuts, and seeds are all excellent sources.

What's the Difference Between Insoluble and Soluble Fiber?

While nutritional labels don't discern between insoluble and soluble fiber, they come from different sources, and act differently in the body, too.

Insoluble fiber is found in the peels, skins, or husks of plant-based foods. Insoluble fiber does not dissolve in water, and so it passes quickly through your body, mostly intact, promoting regularity, as long as you have adequate water intake.

Soluble fiber comes from the "flesh" or innards of plant-based foods. For example, when you eat an apple, the skin of the apple is insoluble fiber, while the flesh of the apple is soluble fiber. Soluble fiber does dissolve in water. Once ingested, it forms a gel-like substance in your small intestines that mixes with other partially digested foods.

If you focus on eating more whole plant foods, you don't need to be overly mindful of the difference between soluble and insoluble fiber, since they are usually packaged together in whole foods such as brown rice, corn, beans, chickpeas, grapes, apples, raspberries, and celery.

What Makes Fiber Such a Weight-Loss Wonder?

Fiber-rich foods are important for weight loss for two reasons:

1. Fiber-rich foods make you feel satisfied but are naturally low in calories.

The math on weight loss is actually pretty simple. In order to lose weight, you need to burn more calories than you consume. Sounds easy, right? The problem is that in order to feel "full," receptors in your stomach also require a certain amount of food. Here's where insoluble fiber, in particular, plays an important role: while insoluble fiber is a carbohydrate, your body can't digest it as well as it digests other carbs, sugars, fats, and proteins, so it basically helps create a sensation of satiety by filling you up, but then passes right through you without adding to the net calories you are eating.

2. Fiber helps regulate blood sugar levels, which can curb overeating.

When soluble fiber forms its gel-like substance and mixes with other foods in your small intestines, it can help "trap" sugars and fats, and slow their absorption, according to the National Fiber Council; therefore, insoluble fibers can further aid weight loss by stabilizing blood sugar levels, which can curb overeating and prevent your body from storing excess fat.

10 Tasty High-Fiber Snack and Meal Ideas:

  • 1 large apple (5.4 grams) + 2 tablespoons almond butter (3.2 grams) = 8.6 grams fiber
  • 1 cup steamed edamame, in pods (5.7 grams) + sea salt = 5.7 grams fiber
  • 1/2 cup Brazil nuts = 5 grams fiber
  • 3 celery stalks (3 grams) + 1/2 cup hummus (4.7 grams) = 7.7 grams fiber
  • 1 cup refreshing quinoa salad = 10 grams fiber
  • 1 half avocado (4.6 grams) with 1 slice sprouted whole wheat toast (2.2 grams) = 6.8 grams fiber
  • 1 cup quick oatmeal (8.2 grams) + 1 cup raspberries (8 grams) + 1/2 cup slivered almonds (6.75 grams) = 22.95 grams fiber
  • 2 black bean toasted corn tacos = 14 grams fiber
  • 1 cup cooked whole wheat spaghetti (5.9 grams) + 1/2 cup cooked kale (2.6) + 1/2 cup white beans (9.3) = 17.8 grams fiber
  • 1 1/2 cup curried red lentil soup = 13 grams fiber

Viola Davis's House Is So Not What You're Expecting

Oscar winner Viola Davis has a big and illustrious career, so we assumed her home would be grand as well. But we were pleasantly surprised to see that Viola has been living in a surprisingly normal (by Hollywood standards) abode for the past decade. Her five-bedroom, five-bath property sits in a picturesque neighborhood with close-packed houses in Granada Hills, CA, far from the hubbub of Beverly Hills and Hollywood.

It seems, however, that the actress is ready for bigger things, as this Spring the stucco home was listed with broker John Mazziotta of Re/Max Olson & Associates for $1.19 million, which is just a touch over the $1.17 million Viola is said to have paid for it in 2005. The property boasts nearly 4,000 square feet of living space, including a top-of-the-line kitchen, a living room with large windows, soaring ceilings, a sprawling master suite, and a gracious dining room. With its lagoon pool and spa, built-in barbecue, and dining terrace, the backyard is the perfect place to unwind after a long day of shooting How to Get Away With Murder. Check out the charming property ahead.

Holographic Hair Is the Fairidescent Dye Trend We've Been Waiting For

We thought we had seen it all when it came to rainbow manes, but that all changed when we laid our eyes on the new holographic hues. Characterized by multidimensional metallic or pastel hues, the strands look opalescent and color-shifting on the wearer.

According to an interview with Redken colorist Chiala Marvici with Modern Salon, the holographic trend is achieved with a technique called hand-pressed coloring. Hand-pressed coloring uses the methods behind screen printing and brings them to your locks. The stylist paints different patterns on a sheet of Plexiglas with dye and then places a section of hair onto the glass, transferring the dye to your strands. The stylist repeats the process using pastel hues of pink, blue, and lavender on different sections of hair or repeatedly on the same section to vary the intensity of the color. The technique is faster than other popular color applications like foil and balayage and allows the stylist to have greater control over the vibrancy of the look. So far, Marvici has only taught a handful of stylists the technique, but we're confident it will take off fast.

Unfortunately, in order for rainbow shades to look holographic on the hair, the client must have a light hair color like blond or gray, so know that before heading to the salon. But if you're willing to take the plunge, the result is so gorgeous it looks like it was sprinkled with pixie dust, and we can't get enough of the fun trend. Read on to get some holo-hair inspiration.

Is Daario Ever Coming Back to Game of Thrones? There's (a Tiny Bit of) Hope

During Daenerys Targaryen's reunion with Jorah Mormont on Game of Thrones this week, it was hard to miss Dany's moony eyes and longing looks - which she seemed to be serving to both Ser Jorah and Jon Snow. Seeing her love interests side by side gives off some serious Bachelorette vibes, which had me wondering about (and, let's be honest, missing) Dany's most recent bedfellow, Daario Naharis.

The last time we saw Daario was in the season six finale when he helps Dany and the Dothraki overthrow the Sons of the Harpy in Meereen. Following the battle, Dany tells Daario that she's heading to Westeros, and though he wants to join her, she refuses him at Tyrion's urging. Though Daario professes his love for Daenerys, he ultimately agrees to stay behind with the Second Sons to keep the peace in Meereen. The parting certainly feels final, and Daario hasn't shown up (or even been mentioned, really) in season seven, but is he gone for good?

Of course, HBO would never willingly let any spoilers slip about returning characters, but Michiel Huisman (who plays Daario on the show) is aware of his character's fate. When asked if he knows whether Daario will show up again or not, he said, "Yes I do, and I'm not supposed to spoil that." Not much of an answer, but at least we know there's a chance. Until then, we'll just be over here reliving one of our favorite romances in Game of Thrones history.

Katie Holmes's Summer Sneakers Are So Old-School Fabulous, You'll Need a Pair Too

We're always excited by a Katie Holmes spotting on the street, because really, you never know what she might wear. While she's good friends with designer Zac Posen and habitually slips into his eveningwear, her Summer style is way more casual - but it can be bold. Take her latest look, for example: a gingham button-down, dark denim cutoffs, and old-school Reebok sneakers.

Katie didn't just wear her white high-tops with pride, she drew even more attention to them with a pair of scrunched-up socks (a move that was totally popular in the '90s). This isn't the first time the actress has shown off her comfortable footwear. She also owns Adidas Stan Smiths. Read on for a glimpse at Katie's latest appearance in New York, then shop the throwback kicks she's wearing. Trust us, you won't be able to move on until you get in on this retro-fab trend.

Mom's Message to the Flight Attendant Who Intervened When "All Hell Broke Loose"

After a vacation in Palm Springs, Whitney Poyntz and her family were returning to Calgary when she boarded her flight with her husband and sleeping 4-month-old. Considering that the little one was already snoozing, the new parents relaxed a bit thinking that it would be an easy flight but quickly realized just how wrong they were.

Once the captain came on the intercom, the infant woke up but was able to be nursed back to sleep. "About 30 minutes later all hell broke loose. [I'm] not sure if it was gas or maybe pressure but we did not have a happy baby, and unfortunately those seats aren't made for rocking or trying to put a baby back to sleep," Whitney wrote on Facebook. "Eyes glaring, sweat dripping down our foreheads trying to get her back to sleep, in comes the hero of the day... a flight attendant named Ashley."

Ashley approached the anxious parents and asked not only if she could hold the agitated baby but also if she could take her for a walk. "The first thought in my head was 'Um, a stranger wants to walk my screaming child up and down the aisle?!?!' But she did and got her calmed down," Whitney wrote. "The experience was amazing. Never would I ever think someone would ever do that, volunteer to take your screaming child, but she did."

Whitney knows that to some, this might not seem like a big deal, but she wants everyone to understand how much this act of kindness meant to a stressed new mom just trying to keep it all together. "WestJet (Ashley), I would like to thank you for the over and above customer service (baby whispering) that you gave, truly the greatest airline," she wrote.

When You See the Flip-Flops Lily-Rose Depp Wore With Her Bikini, You'll Think "Hell, Yes!"

Eighteen-year-old model and Chanel muse Lily-Rose Depp has a rather relaxed everyday style. Even when she's showing off a cool It item, like a Chanel backpack, the rest of her ensemble is muted. Usually, Lily-Rose just sticks to jeans and a t-shirt. So we weren't really surprised to find that she chose such a classic bikini for a trip to Ré Island in France.

While she accessorized the olive string two-piece with luxurious essentials - a woven sun hat, teal scarf, and oversize tortoise sunglasses - look down at her shoes and the true tomboy comes out. Lily-Rose was wearing Nike Air Jordan slides, and it was awesome. Our favorite type of beach day is one that involves as little effort as possible, after all, and Lily-Rose's flat sandals helped her achieve that. Read on to zoom in on the details, then shop similar swimsuits and flip-flops too.

The Badass Truth Behind 1 of Princess Diana's Most Memorable Dresses

Princess Diana and Prince Charles separated in late 1992 after 11 years of marriage (and scandals), and by the Summer of 1994, the 30-year-old mother of two was single and ready to mingle. In addition to being newly unattached, Diana was also a bona fide style icon. She was renowned and revered for her taste in fashion, and designers all over the world clamored to dress her for high-profile events - so when it came time for her to choose a look for an upcoming party, Diana didn't take the decision lightly. Nobody expected that the dress she would wear would become one of the most iconic moments in fashion history - except, perhaps, for Diana herself.

On June 29, 1994, Serpentine Gallery held its annual Summer soiree in London's Kensington Gardens, and Diana was due to attend the dinner being hosted by Vanity Fair. She bought a dress from Valentino, but much to her chagrin, his house released an unauthorized press statement about her look - Diana was so put off by the display of "crude opportunism" that she immediately changed her mind. Instead, she decided to wear what would become one of her most memorable and statement-making looks: a form-fitting black off-the-shoulder number by Greek designer Christina Stambolian.

The sexy LBD was actually made for Diana three years earlier, but according to Christina, the princess "thought it was too daring."

The sexy LBD was actually made for Diana three years earlier, but according to Christina, the princess "thought it was too daring." The dress, which had a ruched, asymmetrical bodice with cap sleeves and a sash at the side, hugged Diana's curves perfectly, and was perhaps her most daring and strategic fashion move to date. Why? Because Diana knew that on the same night as the Serpentine event, her estranged husband Prince Charles would officially confess to his adulterous relationship with Camilla Parker-Bowles in a televised documentary about his life and work. "She wanted to look a million dollars," said her former stylist, Anna Harvey. "And she did."

When Diana stepped out of her car to greet the party hosts and waiting fans, she knew her stunning look would make an impression (and be all over the news). She paired the dress with a monochrome choker and pearl earrings; simple, elegant accessories that aided - and didn't distract from - the look, an ensemble that was much more brazen than anything she had worn in the past. Auction house boss Kerry Taylor, whose company auctioned off 10 of Diana's dresses in 2013 - further explained the significance of the moment in a documentary about the late princess. "We called that 'The Revenge Dress,'" Kerry said. "While some would have been like, 'I can't face it this evening,' Diana went out in that dress looking drop dead gorgeous. She made a big statement right there."

While we tragically lost Princess Diana in a car crash in August 1997, her legacy lives on in her two sons, Princes William and Harry, her endless dedication to philanthropy, and yes, her elegant (and sometimes daring) sense of style. Diana's smart, sexy LBD will go down in the books as one of the most audacious and deliberate examples of revenge dressing.
