Target's Removing Your Favorite Affordable Fashion Lines - and We're in Shock
My pit stops to Target in search of a toothbrush and snacks usually lead me to stop by and browse through the fashion racks too. The retailer offers a dizzying array of trendy yet affordable pieces and is a hidden gem for cool designer collabs (remember Victoria Beckham?). But soon, your favorite original labels will disappear completely off the shelves.
Target plans to remove some customer favorites like Mossimo and Merona and replace them with 12 new clothing, accessory, and decor lines. Though we recently got a glimpse of the new fashion line A New Day, we're definitely sad to see our old labels go, especially when some of the offerings are items we could easily incorporate into our everyday wardrobes. Read on to shop our top style picks before they vanish.

DIY queen Lauren Conrad wowed with a circus-themed look, Bette Midler brought her iconic Hocus Pocus character back to life, and British journalist Jemima Khan even brought some humor across the pond with her savage Melania Trump costume. 9 Awkward Moments Only Latinx Will Truly Get
The number of awkward moments Latinx live through every day is very, very high. Most of those cringe-worthy moments happen "entre familia," which, if we're being honest, is sometimes worse than in front of friends (or strangers) - talk about cousins who don't let things go.
For all the dicey situations we live through, at least we can find humor in them, even if we don't see it in the moment. Can you? Here are just nine struggles only Latinx will understand.

Mark Zuckerberg Continues to Prove That Paternity Leave Should Be the Norm
When Max was born, I took two months of paternity leave. I will always be grateful I could spend so much time with her...
Posted by Mark Zuckerberg on Friday, August 18, 2017
Since becoming a dad, Mark Zuckerberg has taken passionate stances on several polarizing parenting topics. In addition to urging parents to vaccinate their children, the Facebook CEO also advocates for paternity leave. With the birth of his second daughter approaching, Zuckerberg announced that he will be taking his paternity leave later this year.
On Facebook - where else? - Zuckerberg shared a picture of his daughter, Max, and said, "When Max was born, I took two months of paternity leave. I will always be grateful I could spend so much time with her in the first months of her life." He then said he is planning on taking two months of paternity leave when his second daughter is born.
Zuckerberg will also be taking advantage of Facebook's paternity leave policy that allows new dad to take that time off in segments. "I'll take a month off to be with Priscilla and the girls at the beginning, and then we'll spend the whole month of December together as well," he said, adding, "I'm looking forward to bonding with our new little one and taking Max on adventures."
The soon-to-be dad of two ended his announcement by speaking to the benefits of paternity leaves. He said, "At Facebook, we offer four months of maternity and paternity leave because studies show that when working parents take time to be with their newborns, it's good for the entire family. And I'm pretty sure the office will still be standing when I get back."

You Might Not Think You Need a Pink Suit, but These Photos Will Change Your Minddf
There is no escaping the cult of pink right now. From trainers to home decor, it has become the color of choice for the millennial generation, and there is no better way to wear it than full-on, head to toe, in a trouser suit. This is a look that mixes business with pleasure: you're opting for classic tailoring, but throwing in a bold shade and a touch of irreverence.

Experiment with contrast lapels, oversize jackets, or cuffed trousers to make your look stand out even more. Read ahead for some outfit inspiration, then shop your own pink suit from our picks.
These Fever Stickers Are Literal Lifesavers For Moms With Sick Kids
There are few worse parenting moments than waking up to crying in the middle of the night and realizing your child has come down with a fever. The chills, the cold sweats, and the high temperatures aren't fun for anyone, especially when it's your kid. Fortunately, Physio-Logic's Fever Bugz Stick-On Fever Indicators might make waking your little sickie a thing of the past.
What are they, exactly? They're hypoallergenic stickers that you stick to your little one's forehead for up to 48 hours so you can track their fever without having to force a fussy kid to stick a bulky thermometer in their mouth . . . or, more distressing for everyone involved, their bottom.
And the instructions are foolproof: all you need to do is place the little ladybug or butterfly on their forehead, and within seconds, the fever indicator will light up and illuminate a temperature reading accurate within one degree.
Although these stickers aren't new to the parenting gear scene, moms and dads have been raving about them on sites like Amazon. And the best part is that at $7 for a pack of eight, they won't break the bank, either.
F*ck Blenders - This Wedding Registry Site Is Entirely Devoted to Wine
Wedding registries may seem an archaic tradition for some, especially as many couples don't need or want new kitchen appliances and china. Here's a refreshing wedding registry website that may lead to some thoughtful and cherished gifts: ThirstyNest, the "first wine and spirits registry for the modern couple - because you already have a coffee maker." Beyond unique bottles of wine and rare spirits, the site includes drinkware and bar furniture. You can sort by price points, items meant to be cellared, and bottles for special occasions like Laurent Perrier Grand Siecle NV Brut Champagne Gift Set ($170) for your first New Year's Eve. Your loved ones can even register you for wine clubs so you can drink happily for many months. As a noncertified wine-and-spirits snob myself, I can attest to the awesomeness of the bottle selections, from Freemark Abbey to Angel's Envy. Anyone who registers through ThirstyNest will find themselves in a superb, buzzy state indeed.
Game of Thrones: Everything You Should Know About Jon Snow's Father, Rhaegar Targaryen
Even though we keep meeting a whole bunch of new characters on Game of Thrones, there's one name that keeps popping up who we've yet to see in the flesh: Rhaegar Targaryen. The famed Targaryen prince might be long dead in both the books and the show, but as we learned during both the crazy sixth-season finale and the bombshell-filled fifth episode of season seven, he plays a huge role in the Game of Thrones universe. Join us as we explain why.
- He is the eldest son of the Mad King, Aerys II. Prince Rhaegar Targaryen is the son of King Aerys Targaryen and Queen Rhaella Targaryen, making him Daenerys and Viserys's older brother (though Dany was born after his death).
- He marries a Dornish princess and has two children, who are later murdered by The Mountain. Rhaegar and Princess Elia Martell (Oberyn Martell's sister, FYI) of Dorne have a daughter, Rhaenys, and a son, Aegon. The children are killed, and then Ser Gregor Clegane rapes Elia before stabbing her to death with a sword. Makes sense why Oberyn wanted to kill him so bad, huh?
- He allegedly abducts Lyanna Stark, which ignites the deadly rebellion against the Targaryens. Despite a seemingly happy marriage to Princess Elia, Rhaegar "abducts" Ned's sister for undisclosed reasons. When the Starks order Rhaegar to release Lyanna, the Mad King has both Ned's father, Rickard, and oldest brother, Brandon, cruelly executed. This prompts Ned and Robert Baratheon (who was betrothed to Lyanna at the time) to team up with several other clans to take down the Targaryens. As we discover later on, Lyanna and Rhaegar were actually genuinely in love and ran off together on purpose. The Starks and Baratheons likely used the kidnapping story to explain away why Lyanna ran off with the Mad King's son (instead of admitting the truth and bringing shame to their Houses).
- He dies at the end of Robert Baratheon's hammer. Although Rhaegar manages to avoid the initial uprising while living in Dorne, he's eventually summoned to battle. During a fight known as the Battle of the Trident, Rhaegar goes up against Robert, who deals him a fatal blow with his war hammer.
- He has been mentioned in the show many times before. In the first episode of season one, Robert and Ned share an emotionally charged moment in the crypt where Lyanna is buried, where Robert reveals that "he kills [Rhaegar] every night" in his dreams. In season three, Jorah Mormont and Ser Barristan Selmy bicker over how honorable Rhaegar truly was in front of Daenerys, and Barristan brings him up again in season five when he shares some pleasant memories of Rhaegar's love of singing. Petyr Baelish also recounts the events surrounding Rhaegar's kidnapping of Lyanna to Sansa Stark in the same crypt where Robert and Ned were years earlier. And of course, Daenerys has been bringing him up in season seven - including to Jon Snow, who still doesn't know that's his dad.
- He's Jon Snow's father. By far the most significant point of Rhaegar's role in the current state of Westeros is his parentage of Jon Snow. In the season-six finale, Bran travels back in time, once again, to the Tower of Joy, where Lyanna is being held captive, according to the Starks and the Baratheons. Ned arrives to rescue his dying sister, who reveals she is the mother of Jon Snow and begs Ned to raise the baby as his own. Although she doesn't explicitly say Jon is Rhaegar's son onscreen, HBO confirmed the news with a handy infographic explaining how all the characters are related. This whole scene also feeds into the myth of the "Prince That Was Promised."
- More importantly, he's Jon Snow's legitimate father. Following the Tower of Joy revelation in season six, season seven's fifth episode, "Eastwatch," casually lets everyone in on a huge secret: JON SNOW ISN'T ACTUALLY A BASTARD. While paging through a book at the Citadel, Gilly reads an old maester's record of an annulment between Rhaegar Targaryen and his wife and the new marriage that the maester officiated for Rhaegar afterwards. In other words, Rhaegar annulled his vows to Elia Martell and properly married Lyanna Stark before she gave birth to Jon, which means he's not a bastard at all. Jon is the rightful heir to the Iron Throne, even more so than Daenerys Targaryen.

I Love Elvis, and These Are My Favorite Songs
Image Source: Getty / Bettmann / Contributor
Two years ago, I became a hardcore Elvis fan almost overnight. I'd always enjoyed his music as much as the next person, but it wasn't until I experienced the Tupelo Elvis Festival - held every June in his birthplace in Mississippi - that I fully understood why Elvis Presley is such a big f*ckin' deal.
While the annual festival includes some silly fun like an Elvis-themed pet parade, the main attraction is three days' worth of performances by Elvis tribute artists (do NOT call them "Elvis impersonators") from all over the world. I attended the weekend festival with my mom and her friend, Marie, who both spent their formative years listening to and lusting after Elvis Presley. Here I am with my mom, both of us in Elvis t-shirts and me with an Elvis purse she made me in high school:

To my surprise, the Elvis tribute artists were by far the best part of the weekend and what ultimately made me a huge fan. These guys were outstanding, particularly the headlining acts, who are the closest I'll ever come to seeing Elvis live and who allowed me to understand the visceral effect that Elvis's performances had on people.
After the weekend, I dove deep into YouTube and Spotify and realized why I'd only been a casual fan before: I had never listened to his live recordings. To me, his live albums (like The Complete '68 Comeback Special and Aloha From Hawaii) are the absolute best way to listen to Elvis. You realize how incredible his voice was - and how sexy - without any studio magic. You can hear his charm-drenched twang between songs and feel the raw energy of his live performances.

Think Outside the (Lunch) Box With 8 These Non-Sandwich Ideas
With kids back in school, you're probably finding yourself back in the kitchen, finishing all the meal prep and writing all those handwritten notes to go with them in their lunchbox.
And while sandwiches are a lunchtime go-to (and a true work of the gods!), they can be a little boring for your kiddo after a few weeks. And you really don't want all that food thrown in the cafeteria garbage can.
Looking for something new? One of these recipes sans sandwiches will surely hit the spot.
William and Harry Reveal Specific Moments From Diana's Funeral That Stayed With Them
This month marks the 20th anniversary of Princess Diana's shocking death, and just as it was when she was alive, the world is still very much enamored with her. Because of the upcoming anniversary (Diana died in a car accident in Paris on Aug. 31, 1997), there have been numerous TV specials about her incredible life that include interviews with people close to her. But in the upcoming two-hour film Diana, 7 Days, her two sons, Prince Harry and Prince William, sit down for a much more intimate (and heartbreaking) look into what they went through after losing their mother. Harry recalls shaking hands with mourners on the day of Diana's funeral, saying, "I remember people's hands were wet because of the tears that they just wiped away." William then appeared to almost fight back tears when he admitted that walking behind her casket was "one of the hardest things I've ever done." See the emotional trailer for the film above before it airs on NBC on Sept. 1.
Amal Clooney's Sporty Sock Trick Will Take You Straight Back to the '90s
Amal and George Clooney held hands after playing a game of tennis in Laglio, Italy, and Amal was dressed perfectly for the occasion. The stylish but practical lawyer and activist slipped into a frilly skirt and capped off her ensemble with a visor. While you might be excited about the $39 price tag on her sporty Sundek tank top, we were more focused on her footwear: a pair of crisp white trainers paired with ankle-rise socks.
The taller socks were a subtle draw to her sneakers as well as a nod to the sport look of the '90s (a white sweatband might have been too obvious). One thing's for sure - Amal can pull off athletic fashion just as well as she can sophisticated workwear and vacation style. Read on to get a good close-up, then shop the basics.
Game of Thrones: Everything You Need to Know About Benjen Stark

Will Brienne and Tormund ever hook up?), a lot of fans have wondered about what ever happened to Benjen Stark. In the season six episode "Blood of My Blood," his fate is finally revealed, as is whether or not he's Coldhands. There's more to Benjen than meets the eye, so read on to see who he is and why he's important.
Look Back on Sharon Tate's Tragically Short Life, in Pictures
Sharon Tate's short life came to an end when she was brutally murdered by members of Charles Manson's infamous "family" in August 1969. The stunning 26-year-old Texas native was on the verge of making it big in Hollywood; she had starred in movies like Don't Make Waves and The Wrecking Crew and was possibly best known for her role as aspiring actress Jennifer North in Valley of the Dolls. Sharon was married to disgraced film director Roman Polanski, and at the time of her death, she was eight and a half months pregnant with their son.
Along with Sharon, four other people - Wojciech Frykowski, Abigail Folger, Jay Sebring, and Steven Parent - were killed by Manson followers Tex Watson, Susan Atkins, Patricia Krenwinkel, and Linda Kasabian. They broke into Sharon and Roman's Benedict Canyon home and murdered them with both guns and knives. It was revealed earlier this month that Quentin Tarantino is in the early stages of putting together a film being described as "a unique take on the Manson Family murders." So far, actresses Jennifer Lawrence and Margot Robbie are reportedly being considered to play Sharon.
We may never know what Sharon could have become, but she'll live on in the photos she took and the handful of movies she made. Look back on Sharon Tate's life, in pictures.
10 Struggles You'll Know Very Well If You're an Introverted Latina
I'm an introvert in certain social situations, but also a Latina - these two factors don't tend to mix, in my experience. Family get-togethers, especially growing up, were some of my most dreaded moments. Those first five minutes after walking through the door were the ones when I knew I was going to be put in the spotlight. Someone was going to ask, "Did you already say hi to [insert family member names here]?," and I was going to be watched closely until I made my way around the room. It made the introvert in me want to skip these events.
The more I grew up, the more I preferred quiet corners, reading, and engaging in a one-on-one setting. Growing up also made all those struggle moments I had even more apparent . . . and gave me a longer list of situations I didn't want to encounter again. Here's to reliving them ahead but never having to awkwardly say hello to anyone again.
18 "Que Será, Será" Tattoos That'll Have You Saying, "F*ck It, I'm Doing It"
The phrase "que será, será" is as old as time, but its laissez-faire attitude rings so true that we can definitely see why it makes the perfect ink. Getting a tattoo of the powerful words serves as a great daily reminder that while you're in control of your life, destiny is destiny.
The ink ahead is fun, playing with fonts, lettering, and color and adding a few other symbols like feathers and birds to give the three words an even deeper meaning. You won't be able to resist the urge and might end up getting one of these tattooed on your body by the end of the day.
Taylor Swift's Social Media Accounts Have Suspiciously Disappeared
Taylor Swift has officially gone dark, you guys. On Friday, the singer took "blank space" to a whole new level when she wiped her social media accounts completely clean just a few days after winning her groping trial against DJ David Mueller. No, seriously. Her Tumblr is bare, her latest tweets are from 2009, her Facebook no longer has a profile picture, and every single picture on her Instagram (even those glorious Fourth of July snaps) is completely gone. And to top it all off, her official website is now just a black screen. Needless to say, fans are completely losing it over the whole ordeal. Is she getting ready to release new music? Or is she officially retiring? We have no idea, but we can only assume something big is about to happen.

Shirtless Leonardo DiCaprio Serves Poolside Glamour With Kate Winslet in St.-Tropez
Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet reunited for a charity gala in St.-Tropez, France, last month, and during their downtime, the BFFs lounged by the pool at Leo's villa with a few other friends, including Tobey Maguire, Kevin Connolly, and Lukas Haas. Leo went shirtless in a pair of swim trunks for the pool day, while Kate covered up her neon bikini with a sheer dress. The Oscar winners were spotted chatting it up and sharing a hug, and Leo also made sure to strike a few poses between hitting the vape pen and checking his cell phone for text messages from models (we assume). It was during this same getaway that Leo debuted a Project Runway-worthy beach towel design, which we couldn't be more thankful for.
Speaking of models, Leo has reportedly been busy romancing yet another stunner since his pool day with Kate. This week, Page Six reported that Leo is getting cozy with 23-year-old German model Lorena Rae; the pair was seen having a lunch and museum date in NYC and looked "like an item." With only a few weeks until Labor Day, it certainly seems like Leo is ending Summer with a bang (we assume).
This Hack Will Forever Change the Way You Cut and Juice a Lime
If you're struggling to get a decent amount of liquid out of a lime, turns out you might be cutting it all wrong. Here's an easy hack to get almost triple the amount of juice. Instead of cutting the lime in half, you can make cuts on all four sides of the lime, leaving the center untouched, and you'll be able to squeeze so much more juice out of the sides, according to an image posted by Reddit user regularoldballoon. I wanted to see if it really worked, and spoiler: it 100 percent does. I'm never going back to the old way. Here's how to perfectly cut a lime to get the maximum amount of juice every time, because limes are expensive.
Stand the lime up vertically on a cutting board. You might want to carefully cut off the bottom tip to make this easier (and safer!). In a similar way that you would slice around the core of an apple, use a sharp knife to cut all four sides (or cheeks) of the lime, coming close to the stem. You'll be able to squeeze out all the juice from the cheeks with little effort, and you can even get a few more drops from the core.
You can clearly see the difference! When I sliced a lime in half, I got less than a tablespoon of juice, and the other lime yielded more than double that amount. Your guac and margaritas are about to be better than ever.

6 Reasons I've Decided to Break Up With My Skinny Jeans
As a child, I vividly remember hating jeans. The nonstretchy, tight-around-your-ankle style of the early '90s would send me into a fit of red-faced rage, and I would beg my parents, even in the dead of Winter, "Please, can't I just wear a dress?!"
But years - and numerous pairs of Limited Too bell-bottoms - later, I found myself, once again, slipping into body-hugging pants: skinny jeans. It was 2005, and perhaps it was the fact that I prided myself on staying on top of trends. Maybe I was excited to add a new style to the mix. Or maybe my lifeguarding check was burning a hole in my Dooney & Bourke purse. Whatever the reason, the second I zipped those babies up, I was in love. I'd go on to rock my skinnies with a pair of pink ballet flats, feeling like the cutest little '00s teen to ever set foot in my high school.
My fashion story, however, does not have a happy ending. A few years ago, in the midst of a mirror-selfie phase, I realized something: I had started hating the way slim-fitting pants looked on me. Scrolling through my photos, my short legs seemed "stumpy." My hip area - a part of my body that I'm not very fond of - seemed highlighted and exaggerated. And despite opting for pairs with hints of spandex (read: jeggings), my legs always felt like they were suffocating. I couldn't wait to rip those pants off the moment I stepped inside my house.
So I splurged for some boyfriend jeans and, last Spring, embraced flares. Now in the midst of cleaning out my closet, I've come to the realization that the few pairs of skinny jeans I have left are wasting space. I'm giving them up for good this time. Read on for reasons you might want to do the same.

Miley Cyrus's "Younger Now" Video Is Basically a Big Tribute to Elvis Presley
Miley Cyrus is going back to her roots. On Friday, the singer dropped the music video for her new single, "Younger Now," and it's full of nostalgia. Not only does she sing along with a puppet version of her younger self (yes, really), but she also impersonates one of her idols, Elvis Presley, who passed away 40 years ago this month. Aside from jamming out on the guitar and kissing an older woman, she also seems to poke fun at her Hannah Montana days by doing a hoedown-inspired dance in a 1950s sock-hop setting. Needless to say, we can't wait to see what the rest of her album will sound like!
18 Simple Yet Stylish Ways to Wear Your Ankle Boots This Fall
Ankle boots are a wardrobe staple for a reason. They're comfortable enough to wear for hours, and you can easily take a pair of black booties from day to night - what's not to love about that? Some Petty Drama About Peter Kraus Becoming the Next Bachelor Is Brewing at ABC
While we still don't know who the next Bachelor will be, we might know who it isn't going to be: fan favorite Peter Kraus. Judging from a seemingly pointed tweet from The Bachelor creator Mike Fleiss, Peter's behavior in the finale of the most recent season of The Bachelorette is not what the franchise is looking for.
One of the biggest problems with The Bachelor is a question that has been plaguing the reality series since its inception in 2002: can two people really find true love over the course of just one month? If you look at all the couples who have ridden off into the sunset after the credits rolled and gone on to find their own happily ever afters (be it with each other, or Fit Tea sponsorships), there's definitely room to argue that, yes, going on The Bachelor, The Bachelorette, or Bachelor in Paradise can result in a contestant making a genuine connection with someone. Just look at BIP's Jade Roper and Tanner Tolbert, who recently welcomed their first child, or Bachelorette couple Trista and Ryan Sutter, who have been married since 2003.
Then again, getting engaged after only knowing each other for one month is a pretty rare thing to find outside of the couples who meet within Bachelor Nation. Peter Kraus, one of the final two contestants on Rachel Lindsay's season of The Bachelorette this year, cited this as his reason for not wanting to propose to Rachel, despite his passionate feelings for her (he said he wanted them to spend more time together as boyfriend and girlfriend first, but she refused anything other than a proposal and chose Bryan Abasolo instead). Their subsequent breakup was one of the most emotional moments in all of Bachelorette history, especially because, to many fans, it was clear that the love between Rachel and Peter was genuine. Was Peter so wrong for wanting to get to know Rachel before entering into a serious commitment? There are plenty of people who would say no, but Fleiss certainly isn't one of them.
While rumors swirl about who the next lucky leading man on the show will be when it returns in 2018, Fleiss posted a subtweet that really seems to be aimed at Peter.
Do we really want a Bachelor who isn't ready to settle down with a woman he loves? Hmmm. Not what #thebachelor is all about...
- Mike Fleiss (@fleissmeister) August 17, 2017
Adding to speculation that the tweet is about Peter is People's recent interview with an anonymous source close to the show, who revealed that Bachelor producers see the former contestant as their "worst nightmare" because he couldn't be coerced into proposing to Rachel in the end. "The fact that no one could talk Peter into buckling under and just giving her the ring - and that he wouldn't play along - absolutely enraged the higher-ups at the show," the source said. "Including Fleiss, definitely. He is totally on their sh*t list forever, and there is no way they will reward him with a shot at The Bachelor. No way."
Reality Steve, who was one of the first to break the news about the Bachelor in Paradise controversy in June (among many other Bachelor Nation bombshells), also got in on the drama about Peter with a few tweets of his own.
(1/2) This is what I'm hearing: They absolutely want Peter as the "Bachelor." Hearing he told them no. Now they're leaking stuff to People

How to Make Frosting For Cakes, Cupcakes, and Beyond
Frosting, aka the fluffy, sweet, buttery spread that goes over cakes, cookies, and cupcakes, isn't so hard to make homemade if you set yourself up for success. First, you must have a large bowl and a hand mixer or stand mixer. If you don't own either, a hand mixer is significantly cheaper. If a whisk is what you're working with, consider making whipped cream instead of frosting.
Next, silky smooth frosting requires a little planning. You must put the butter (and cream cheese) out a few hours prior to come to room temperature. Otherwise, if you try to whip them up cold, the frosting may turn out lumpy or dense. Spreadable fluff is what we're after, and that can only be achieved if the fats are whipped at room temperature! Lastly, always sift the powdered sugar (and cacao powder if applicable) before whipping into the frosting. Once again, if you skip this step, your frosting may turn out as lumpy as tapioca pudding and there's no turning back. No, thanks!
Now that you're ready to beat all the ingredients together, here's the basic technique: In a large bowl, whip the softened butter (and sometimes cream cheese) until it becomes light and fluffy. Slowly mix in the sifted powdered sugar a little at a time until a thick paste forms. Next, whip in the vanilla. Lastly, add the milk one tablespoon at a time and beat for another few minutes or so until you reach a fluffy, spreadable consistency. I personally love using heavy whipping cream in place of milk so that the icing becomes voluminous and whips up almost like whipped cream. That's it! Now, you're ready to decorate your dessert.
One thing to note: do not refrigerate buttercream. It should have enough sugar to preserve it at room temperature for a few days. If you refrigerate the buttercream, it will stiffen up like butter and you'll need to let it come to room temperature (and rewhip it a few minutes using the mixer) before attempting to frost your treats.
Now that you're ready, here are a few classic frostings to get you started.
Basic Buttercream
Softened butter + sifted powdered sugar + vanilla + milk (or heavy whipping cream)
Get the recipe: basic buttercream
Chocolate Buttercream
Softened butter + sifted powdered sugar + sifted cacao powder + vanilla + milk (or heavy whipping cream)
Get the recipe: chocolate buttercream
Cream Cheese Frosting
Softened butter + softened cream cheese + sifted powdered sugar + vanilla + milk (or heavy whipping cream)
Get the recipe: cream cheese frosting
A few of my other favorite additions to frosting are salt and citrus zest. If you love cookies with salt on top or salted caramel, then you'll get a kick out of adding a few teaspoons of salt to buttercream. Another easy way to add flavor is by mixing the zest of lemon into the frosting, although lime, grapefruit, and orange will also work.
20 Actors Who Didn't Marry Actors
When it comes to the laws of dating in Hollywood, musicians are typically drawn to models, while actors tend to gravitate toward other actors. They meet on set while filming a movie - we're looking at you, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie - or cross paths during an industry event and end up living happily ever after. For some stars, though, it's more appealing to settle down with someone who's not in the spotlight, like an agent, an artist, or, in the case of Matt Damon, a Miami Beach bartender. George Clooney made headlines when he married civil rights lawyer Amal Alamuddin, whose impressive accomplishments more than match up to his acting career, and ballet professional Benjamin Millepied danced his way into Natalie Portman's heart when they tied the knot in 2012. Keep reading to see 19 screen stars who married nonactors.
25 Places to Visit With Your Kids Before They Get Too Big
Before your kids leave the nest, you'll want to fit in as many family vacations as possible. One of the best moments is seeing your children view the world with childlike wonder, especially during their first visits to places like Disneyland. Planning a trip for the young ones, however, often means countless hours on trip advisor and reading reviews on the best family-friendly destinations. To make your search less stressful, we came up with a list of 25 must-see places for when your little ones are still young so they can carry their memories into adulthood.
Every Bone-Chilling Teaser For American Horror Story: Cult

Forget all those rumors about elections - season seven of American Horror Story is officially titled Cult, and it looks TERRIFYING. FX revealed the first teaser at San Diego Comic-Con in July, which features a voice-over as images of clowns flash on the screen. "Do you ever feel alone? Does it feel like no one really understands you? Do some people just make you sick? Are you afraid? We can set you free. We will make you strong. We. Want. You." A few more teasers were released shortly afterward.
While none of the cast members make an appearance, that's not unusual for AHS. We'll probably get about a dozen more of these before the season starts on Sept. 5, but for now, review all the details and see if you can decipher the other hints from the American Horror Story exhibit at Comic-Con!

Here's What's Been Going on With JTT Since His Teen Heartthrob Days
Every so often, we take a second to reflect on our celebrity crushes of yore, from boy band members to cute TV actors, and wonder: what the hell happened to them? An adorable heartthrob named Jonathan Taylor Thomas (affectionately known as JTT) had a heyday in the '90s, taking over the covers of teenybopper magazines and making us swoon each week as Randy Taylor on the ABC sitcom Home Improvement. Between 1991 and 1999, JTT's cute little face and floppy middle-parted hair was also featured in big-screen classics like Man of the House, Tom and Huck, Wild America, and I'll Be Home For Christmas, and he also lent his voice to Disney's The Lion King as young Simba. After a smooth run of success, Jonathan Taylor Thomas seemingly disappeared. Poof!
In 2013, Jonathan opened up about his decision to leave the spotlight, telling People that he had "been going nonstop since I was 8 years old," adding, "I wanted to go to school, to travel, and have a bit of a break." We've dug up details on what JTT has - and hasn't - been up to since his Teen Beat days - keep reading for the goods, because some of it may surprise you.
This "Sorry Not Sorry" Dance Routine Is So Sexy, Even Demi Lovato Was Here For It
Demi Lovato blessed us with the bop "Sorry Not Sorry" earlier this Summer, and since we've been dancing to it nonstop, we thought it would be a good idea to take a break and watch some professionals take over. Choreographed by one of our favorites, Jojo Gomez, a handful of groups including Jojo herself tear up the floor while performing seductive routines to Demi's banger at the Millennium Dance Complex in LA. Their breakdowns were so good that Demi just had to swing by and see it for herself. Watch the whole thing above now, then check out even more amazing dance videos.
Mom Shares Daughter's Words to a Friend Subjected to Racism: "I'll Hurt With You"
After Rachel Macy Stafford's daughter tearfully recalled her best friend being subjected to racism on their school bus one afternoon, the mom says the young girl's actions and words in response are something she'll "never forget." When the girl asked her friend if she was OK and got no response, she "scooted closer" to her friend, and because she didn't know what else to do, she says she just "hurt with her."
In a touching post to her blog's Facebook page, The Hands Free Revolution, the New York Times bestselling author shared what she's learned from watching her daughter's relationship with her best friend unfold over the years and what her girl's words mean to her.
"I hurt with her. It took me a moment to recover from that. I filed those powerful words away and continued observing this mighty pair," Rachel wrote in the post, before outlining all the ways these girls have supported each other. "They respond compassionately to each other's needs. When one cannot have a treat due to gluten allergies or braces, the other goes without too. And when they have disagreements, they look into each other's eyes, listen to each other's words, and work through it."
The mom continued, explaining that the pair attended a basketball camp together this Summer, where they were the only two girls. Although they were initially shocked, they powered through together by playing hard and cheering each other on all Summer long. On the final day, Rachel dropped the girls off, and her daughter said to her best friend: "Thank you so much for going with me to that new camp. If you hadn't been there, I don't know what I would have done!"
Her best friend responded: "If you ever have to go to a new basketball camp, don't worry. I will always go with you."
After hearing this exchange, Rachel, who says she is constantly taking note "of what these two friends have to teach me," is now hoping that the whole world can learn something from the special bond they share.
She wrote:
What if we collectively remember, "I'll hurt with you," is something we can all do when we don't know what to do? What if we collectively look into the eyes of our brothers and sisters to acknowledge their story and their pain rather than closing our eyes or looking away? What if we collectively acknowledged our privileges and blessings would be even greater if shared by our sisters and brothers? What if we collectively agree it is not "your back" or "my back," but "our back" if we are to create a unified and peaceful world for future generations?
I think we can all agree there is a lot on the line for our country right now. Unity, peace, progress, understanding, and love are all on the line, and it's hard to know if they're going to make the cut. But then my husband sends me a photo. And this is what I see on the line at a local football game. The goal of this mighty little team is not to win, have the most, or be the best. The goal of this mighty little team is to love . . . to love each other as they want to be loved. The goal of this team is to have "our back." For they know they are stronger together than they are alone. Let us take note. There's so much on the line.
This Congressman Decided to Use Domestic Abuse as a Punchline at 2 Different Town Halls
Our country's illustrious congressmen are back at it again with exceedingly terrible humor. This time, Republican Representative Tim Walberg used an awful cliche disguised as a joke at not one but two town halls. Both times, Walberg responded to questions from his constituents with a variation of, "When did I stop beating my wife?"
The two town halls took place on Aug. 7 and 8 in Dexter and Delta Township, MI. During the one in Dexter, a man named Chris Justice asked the following: "You have shown with your votes - and I should say we have many variations on this one - you have shown with your votes and your comments that you want to cut Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security. Which one do you want to cut the most?" Walberg responded, "And when did I stop beating my wife? Is that the next question?" You can watch it happen ahead at the 9:38 mark.
If it didn't make you react the first time, not to worry. You can try it again with the second appearance, when Walberg brought it up at the Delta Township town hall. This time, the question centered around climate change and the scientific method. "Do you believe in the scientific method as the avenue for deciding what is true about the natural world? If yes, how do you reconcile that with your skepticism of global warming due primarily to industrial activity that began in the 19th century? If no, do you think we should drop science courses - physics, chemistry, biology - from high school curriculum?" the constituent asked. Walberg got right to it and said, "That's probably the most comprehensive question I've ever heard in my life, other than 'When did you stop beating your wife?'" Watch the weak delivery and laughter at the 23:38 mark below.
Yes, a man elected into office thought it was appropriate to use this answer - and the "joke" of "when did I stop beating my wife?" isn't a new one. It's a common tactic many, including Senators John McCain and Ted Cruz, have used in the past. It's meant to be used a rebuttal when someone asks an over-the-top question. However, it's not actually funny to use domestic abuse as a form of humor. And if you're a politician, you're probably better off answering the question rather than providing a ridiculous statement such as this on your own. That advice, however, didn't reach Walberg's ears. Maybe now he'll take note.
