7 Actors Who Were Almost in Buffy, the Vampire Slayer
No matter how much of a die-hard fan you think you are of Buffy, the Vampire Slayer, there's always new interesting facts to discover about the show as the years go by. Recently, I found out that Katie Holmes was initially offered the role as Buffy Summers and, yes, my mind was completely blown. (No one could have played that part better than Sarah Michelle Gellar.) Read on to see six other jaw-dropping casting facts about the series ahead.
Harry Potter's Emotional Epilogue Took Place Today, and Now We Can't Stop Crying
On Sept. 1, 2017, a grown-up Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley gathered together on Platform Nine and Three Quarters at King's Cross to bid farewell to their children, who were off to start their own adventures at Hogwarts. Just the thought of the epilogue in The Deathly Hallows is enough to make any Harry Potter fan a little teary, and now that the moment's actual date has come to pass, emotions are running high.
It's been 19 years since Harry's defeat of Voldemort within the story, 10 years since J.K. Rowling released Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, and six years since the last movie hit theaters, but the loyalty and love of the iconic, wildly popular series have not faded. Rowling herself took the time to mark the occasion with a tweet about how Friday is the day Albus Severus Potter boards the Hogwarts Express for the very first time:
Today's the day Albus Severus Potter boards the Hogwarts Express at King's Cross for the first time #19yearslater ⚡️

The beloved author also responded to the many tweets from people who were sad that they still haven't gotten their letters to Hogwarts in pretty much the best way, by retweeting something she'd actually told a fan back in 2015. "All these people saying they never got their Hogwarts letter: you got the letter," she wrote. "You went to Hogwarts. We were all there together."
To celebrate the special day, fans showed up in force at the real King's Cross station in London on Friday decked out in costumes and holding their wands.

The cast of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child also got in on the fun by eating a train-shaped cake.

Sure, Harry Potter's story might officially be over, but love for the series will go on for as long as new generations can get their hands on the books and movies. In other words? All is well.

This Moment From Lady Gaga's Concert Is Exactly Why She's Such an Icon
When I went to night two of Lady Gaga's Joanne world tour stop at Citi Field in Queens on Tuesday, I wasn't expecting to fear for her life. If anything, as a huge Gaga fan, I feared that my own heart might give out. But, lo and behold, as she climbed on top of her piano at the end of "Come to Mama," with a torrential rainstorm pouring down around her and making the stage slick under her high-heeled boots, I felt my stomach tighten for one brief moment.
Then I remembered who the f*ck I was watching - did I really think a little bit of rain was going to stop Lady Gaga?
Although her collection of cotton-candy-colored wigs, eye-popping costumes, and, of course, her pink cowboy hat managed to stay dry throughout her Monday night performance, Tuesday was a different story. Following an up-close-and-personal tour of her stage before the show, courtesy of Citi, where I got to see what it really looks like behind those massive screens, the heavens opened up and I joined the crowd in slipping on a baggy plastic poncho.
Now, Gaga obviously wasn't going to swap her ice-blue, pearl-studded bodysuit or her hand-painted V2Bentley jacket for waterproof gear, no matter what the weather situation was like. Instead, she rocked those costumes right into into the rain, abandoning the dry safety of her stage's overhang and strutting onto the catwalk that extended into the audience. The result, which should come as no surprise to anyone who's been lucky enough to witness one of Gaga's electric performances live, was one hell of a concert.
"So about an hour and a half before I came on stage tonight, they told me that it was broken," Gaga said, referring to the complex mechanics of the Joanne tour's sets. "I thought about it. And I thought, 'Well, I'm not broken, so . . .'" The crowd erupted in loud cheers and applause. "You know, it's really cute what [the stage] does. It goes up and down, and it's like an illusion and some sh*t. But you know what isn't an illusion? My voice. What is not an illusion is when we're dancing and playing live for you all night long. And when they told me it was raining and I'd probably slip in my heels, I said, 'No, that's also not an option, not in New York.' Here we learn how to dance on wet concrete."
Ballads like "Come to Mama" and "Joanne," which are gorgeous as is, were only magnified by the sweeping drama of the rain. Even dance-heavy numbers, like "Alejandro" (which included a moment of her writhing around on stage as it poured), suddenly became that much more intense.
In her hometown, where Gaga promised us all that she was "gonna throw down New York style, real raw for you tonight," she delivered (and then some).
How Scary Is American Horror Story: Cult? Depends on What Scares You
Warning: light spoilers (and scary images) for American Horror Story: Cult lurk below.
Turn on all the lights: we're on the cusp of another exciting season of American Horror Story. The seventh installment of the iconic series hits TV screens on Sept. 5, and we're about to be plunged into a world of cults, clowns, bees, and serious paranoia. If you're a die-hard horror fan who's dead inside (like me!), then there's no question: you're going to watch the sh*t out of Cult. However, if you're on the fence about horror and have an undeniable curiosity about the new season, you're probably wondering if you can stomach it. I hate to tell you this, but the answer is probably no.
This season of AHS gets under your skin in more ways than one, and it exploits some of the most basic fears in the horror genre. The first and most obvious fear is clowns. In the show, main character Ally (Sarah Paulson) suffers from coulrophobia, which is an irrational fear of the "fun" circus performers. Actually, though, it's pretty common to fear clowns. That's why It, with its terrifying Pennywise the Clown, is one of the most terrifying stories ever (and why people are freaking out over the very realistic remake).
And the thing is, there are a lot of clowns on this show. We see the return of Twisty and his mangled face from Freak Show. In addition, there are a bunch of other creepy clowns. They're a groups of miscreants who may be hallucinations of a very rattled Ally, but they seem to also be a very real group of troublemakers who are terrorizing families all over town.
If the clowns don't get you, the home invasion scenarios will. Cult has a pretty astounding way of building tension and terror into a lot of its scenes, especially when a character is alone. In the premiere, Ally has a traumatic experience in a grocery store, but then it seems to follow her home. In the vein of The Strangers and Hush and other such terrifying in-home horrors, a lot of Cult's worst sequences take place in the safety of residential homes. And this isn't just silly break-ins. Citizens are getting ambushed in bed. Some are getting murdered. If you're getting the urge to lock your door right now, you might want to skip.
So, let's say you can handle the clowns and the home invaders. Can you deal with the tiny holes? Ally's other huge mental hurdle is trypophobia, which is basically a fear of tiny clusters of holes. In the show, Ally can't even look at a piece of coral in the office of Dr. Vincent (Cheyenne Jackson). During one particular gross hallucination, her biscuit is suddenly filled with holes, and blood oozes out of all the pores. It's enough to make anyone squirm, let alone someone who's actually disgusted by the phenomenon.
The thing about these three huge aspects of terror on Cult is that they all intermix. After all, it's the group of clowns that does most of the home invading. The trypophobia may manifest in miscellaneous ways, as we mentioned above, but one of the clowns literally has a face full of tiny holes. All of these big fears lump into one gargantuan sense of unrest. In every scene, anything could manifest that could set you off and really have you gripping your seat cushion. Or, you know, maybe you'll just be bombarded with all three. Watch American Horror Story: Cult if you dare, but my distinct sense as a horror fan who's dead inside is that it's pretty damn scary.

Trump's Biggest Problem Isn't the Media - It's Homophones
President Donald Trump often takes to Twitter to broadcast the inner workings of his mind to the women, men, and children of Planet Earth. And sometimes, what he types isn't quite what he intends - so despite being the leader of the free world, he deletes the tweet and tries again.
But the longer Trump is in the White House, and the more pressure that is applied on the former real estate developer and reality TV host, the more these flubs seem to be happening. So much so that it's starting to feel an awful lot like the real thorn in Trump's side isn't the media or the much-decried leaks in his revolving-door White House - it's the grammar school-level concept of the homophone. Defined by Merriam-Webster as "one of two or more words pronounced alike but different in meaning or derivation or spelling (such as the words to, too, and two)," homophones also happen to be the one thing that will never, ever be caught by a standard spellcheck program. As both spellings are correct, it wholly falls on the author of a sentence to ensure that the correct spelling is employed - and for Trump, that seems to be a little bit too much of an ask.
While a mistake of this kind can absolutely be chalked up to human nature when it happens a couple of times, it's an alarming indication of an individual's mental state when it happens on a near-weekly basis. And it's not just homophones, either, or words like "covfefe" or "tapp". it runs over to a "this is how it sounds, so that must be how it's spelled" mindset, one that's solely based on acting on impulse, that is frankly inexplicable for someone who has ready access to the nuclear codes. The most Pavlovian part of the whole thing, though, is the fact that we're talking about someone who came from a public-facing life, who has been under scrutiny for years - and yet, in all the time has never learned to revise his own thoughts before word-vomiting into the internet.
It's also very telling of a deeper, darker insecurity that drives the president to act in such impetuous ways. And while the Goldwater Rule bars us from having someone with professional psychoanalytical abilities weigh in, these erratic outbursts that aren't kept in check by a self-editing id are enough to make the average individual wonder if an impulsive ego can override the boundaries of the rules our Founding Fathers put forth.
As it stands, though, there isn't much recourse for sending a typo-ridden tweet. The president's behavior warrants close attention, but for now the only thing we can do is point at the tweets and laugh at the most powerful man in the world being baffled by homophones. And while Trump may have removed a lot of the evidence of his aversion to self-editing, the internet is rich with screenshots and analysis that will ensure that gone will never be forgotten. Behold, some of our president's greatest (spelling) hits.

Why FP and Alice Are the OG Jughead and Betty on Riverdale
When it comes to relationships on Riverdale, none can hold a candle to Betty and Jughead's. They're insanely adorable, they support each other through difficult times, and they're the perfect mix of dark and light. As my OTP, I would never want anything to jeopardize their relationship, but even I can't deny the insane chemistry between their parents.
I know it's crazy to ship FP and Alice (Falice?), but isn't crazy what this show is all about? Trust me, I tried my best not to when watching them partake in playful batter after Jughead's birthday party and when they give each other death stares from across the table before the homecoming dance, but the final straw was when actress Mädchen Amick posted a selfie of her and Skeet Ulrich filming season two, writing, "#Riverdale fans, be careful what you wish for 😘." Seriously, who can resist that?
FP and Alice's sexual tension aside, it's clear their characters have a past that will only be explored more in coming episodes. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if the father of Alice's mysterious son is actually FP, but that's a completely different story. Sure, it would be awkward for Bughead to have their parents date, but if Dan and Serena can make it work, why can't they? Look back at these FP and Alice moments from last season and get ready to set sail with this ship.
All the Times Narcos' Pedro Pascal Made Our Hearts Ache With Desire
He endured the most memorable - and arguably most gruesome - death on Game of Thrones, but Pedro Pascal, who played Oberyn Martell in the world of Westeros, is alive and well today. He stars in the original Netflix series Narcos as Javier Peña, a real-life DEA agent who played a major role in catching Pablo Escobar. The third season of the show premieres on Sept. 1, so you can see as much of Pedro's beautiful (and fully intact) face as your heart desires.
Although he's been acting since he was a teenager, Pedro, who originally hails from Santiago, Chile, has only recently popped up on our radars, largely due to his unforgettable role in Game of Thrones. He may not be considered an A-list heartthrob yet, but we demand that he's recognized for his chiseled jawline, contagious smile, and kind eyes. The guy is a grade-A hottie, and he deserves to be labeled as one. Here are all the moments we couldn't help but praise Pedro in all his Chilean glory.
18 Recipes That Prove Burgers Are the King of Summer Cookouts
In celebration of warmer weather, there's simply nothing better than a perfectly charred, ridiculously juicy burger - whether it's nestled between two truffle mac 'n' cheese buns, threaded onto a skewer, or transformed into a classic cheddar cheeseburger. Here are a few takes on this American classic that we can't stop craving.
Evan Peters Is Playing 3 Notorious Cult Leaders on AHS, and We Are Terrified
Since the season seven premiere of American Horror Story is just days away, your nightmares have probably been consumed with images from the new theme: Cult. The official trailer confirms the season deals with the aftermath of the 2016 presidential election, with Sarah Paulson's character, Ally Mayfair, spiraling out of control and Evan Peters's character, Kai Anderson, rising in triumph (the Trump similarity to that word isn't lost on me). In addition to Kai being a cult leader on his own, Peters will also reportedly take on the roles of three other notorious cult leaders in history - Charles Manson, David Koresh, and Jim Jones - as well as one iconic figure who had a large following, Andy Warhol.
The show's creator and executive producer, Ryan Murphy, confirmed that Peters will play these other characters in flashbacks, but we won't see them until at least the fourth episode. Keep reading to dive a little deeper into their terrifying true stories before AHS returns on Tuesday.
We Might Have Unlocked the Secret of Jennifer Lawrence's New Horror Film, Mother!
This week, the full trailer for Mother! was released, leaving us more intrigued by Darren Aronofsky's mysterious new film than ever. While the trailer does hint at the dangers to come, and we do have plenty of extra details, it's safe to say we have more questions than answers at this point. I decided to take matters into my own hands. With just the posters and the trailer at my disposal, I embarked on a quest that no one really asked for to discern what exactly the movie is about. Surprisingly, I actually unearthed some fascinating stuff. Take my hand and descend into this confusing labyrinth, won't ye?
Hints From the Title
Let's start with the most basic analysis. Mother! must have some sort of matriarchal structure to it. We just have to figure out who the "mother" is. Is Jennifer Lawrence an aspiring mother who wants to bring new life into the world? If this is the case, then perhaps all the events revolve around her attempts to get pregnant. Given the slight resemblance between Lawrence and Michelle Pfeiffer, it's not too far a jump to wonder if Pfeiffer plays Lawrence's mother. This could be a good twist if Lawrence was abandoned as a child.
This brings us to an exciting and recent revelation: Mother! has just been listed on the site for TIFF, the Toronto International Film Festival. The description of the movie begins: "A young, pregnant woman (Jennifer Lawrence) busies herself in a vast, unfamiliar house, trying to renovate it into submission." Whether or not it seems to have been a slip-up, we know now that Lawrence is pregnant in the film. She is the mother! Of course, there's still the possibility that there's more than one mother, so the whole Pfeiffer thing might still hold up.
A final theory will bring us deeper into the film: maybe another "mother" in the film is some kind of entity. Could this mysterious group of people be trying to summon some sort of goddess or creature? This would explain some of the more disturbing things that appear in the posters and the trailer.
Hints From the Posters
Before we were able to see any footage of Mother!, two arresting and unsettling posters were released. The first shows Jennifer Lawrence with a gaping wound in her own chest. In her hands, she holds her own heart. Her expression is almost completely blank, but there's almost a sort of wonder or tranquility laced into it. There are other strange things to note. On the left side, one flower seems to house an octagonal door knob. Once you watch the trailer, you'll notice this shape appears in many different ways (windows, wallpapers, etc.) throughout the house.
On the right side, things get even weirder. Near Lawrence's shoulder is some sort of roughly cut crystal. Further down, you'll notice a frog, which could mean any number of things. If you want to go Biblical, the frog would have to be associated with the plagues. A frog could also signify some sort of transformation, since the amphibians have their own metamorphosis after being born as tadpoles. Also, if you zoom in on Lawrence's eyes, you can actually see the reflection of another person (Bardem?).
The poster featuring Javier Bardem is even stranger. The chair he's sitting on is breaking apart. He's bathed in flames that have hidden faces in them. If you zoom in on the mirrored ball he's holding, you can just barely make out the image of a baby. This again, would reaffirm that maybe this whole thing is about Jennifer Lawrence trying to get pregnant.
Then, we get to my favorite part of the poster(s): the little object with the strange symbol on it. I'm inclined to call it a lighter, since the shape seems to fit. The lighter actually also appears on Lawrence's poster, deep down on the bottom right side. After some serious internet digging, I discovered that the symbol is actually some sort of ancient rune called a Wendehorn. Are you ready to put on that tinfoil hat and strap the f*ck in? Here's where sh*t gets crazy.
Diving Into the Wendehorn
Before we dive into everything, let me explain runes. Runes were basically a set of letters in an ancient alphabet. (Kind of like how Russian uses its own alphabet.) They were used for Germanic languages before the Latin alphabet was adopted. That's why we're looking toward German history to understand this symbol. Actually, and more specifically, this ancient rune can be traced back to Nazi Germany.
Occultism has been loosely associated with Adolf Hitler and the Nazis. A book called Hitler's Elite explains how they used runes in some of their documentation. In this diagram, you might recognize the symbol we're looking for. It has been split in two: The "Leben-Rune" and the "Toten-Rune," or in English, the "life rune" and "death rune." I'm not suggesting Mother! involves Nazis in any way (hey, though, never say never). I'm saying that, if you use the runes as a jumping off point, you get somewhere pretty wild.
I discovered that, when you combine the life rune and death rune, it's called the Wendehorn. The nature of the symbol has been explored in plenty of different texts. The Wendehorn was thought to have been developed by an acclaimed occultist known as Guido Von List. It's said to be a "complex and yet austere symbol that symbolises the uniting and bonding of contrasts and disparities - 'life and death,' 'order and chaos,' . . . 'good and bad,' 'fire and ice,' 'mind and body,' 'light and dark.'"
Get this: the rune is also, according to List, associated with Freyja, the Norse goddess of "love, fertility, battle, and death." If we're thinking fertility, this brings us right back to Mother!, doesn't it? Perhaps this group of crazies is praying to Freyja to help Jennifer Lawrence bring a child into this world. Or, take it one step further - maybe they're trying to summon the goddess herself.
Hints From the Trailer
This brings us to the last piece of the puzzle: the trailer, which we have to pretty much take at face value for the time being. Here's what I know for certain: Lawrence and Bardem have built some kind of idyllic life in the countryside together. Lawrence has painstakingly put together the home of her dreams, and suddenly, two strangers show up: a man and his wife.
Bardem professes not to know them, but they have pictures of him. Then, more people show up. Lots and lots of people. Lawrence finds some f*cked up sh*t in the basement. A light bulb bleeds. Domhnall Gleeson inexplicably shows up. Kristen Wiig allegedly is in the cast, but she's nowhere to be seen. (Freyja, amiright?) By the end, it seems pretty clear that, in some kind of Rosemary's Baby twist, everyone is in on it except for Lawrence, and she's just trying to make it out of the whole thing in one piece.
That's all we have at this point. I do really think the Wendehorn might be the key to all of it. After all, in her new Vogue profile as part of the publication's September issue, Lawrence teased that "the themes are just huge." And what greater themes are there than life and death, light and dark, order and chaos? As a parting gift, consider this shot of the trailer. Could that be a half-painted Wendehorn? Maybe I'm just overthinking it. But, I mean, this is Darren Aronofsky. Anything goes.

Purpose Is Key to Career Happiness - Here's How to Find It
At many points in our careers, we are all faced with challenges and tough decisions. At the forefront of how we handle these decisions is purpose. It is different for each of us - what drives and motivates one person may be completely different for another. As life changes and you find yourself navigating through a new season, that purpose may also change.
Years ago, I was starting out in my career in an industry that I was passionate about. When I was young and single, the vision was clear: learn the business, climb the ladder, chase promotions. My desire to learn outweighed the potential to line my bank account. I didn't need to have everything, I just wanted to have something and to create a nice life. My motivation was growth and stability. But as my own life changed, so did all of that. At some point, I realized there needed to be something more, something that would keep me coming back through the tough moments.
When I started to struggle in my career, it was passion that kept me coming back. My division was going through difficult financial struggles, the project list wasn't what we had hoped for, and day in and day out we were faced with tough decisions. At some point, I found that my purpose was getting lost in the struggle, and I knew it was time to make a change. My children deserved a mother who wasn't depleted by the end of the day with little left to give when she got home from work.
I dug deep to go back to the very thing that motivated me to pursue my career in the first place and find a way to make it work with how my life looked now. I found my "why," which eventually allowed me the freedom to make a departure from my position and create a new path, on my own terms. As I was struggling through this process, here are some of the things I considered.
Look Beyond the Dollar Signs
Money isn't enough. It can certainly make life a little more manageable at times, but if you are truly wishing to follow your passion, money becomes secondary. It is inevitable that at some point in each of our careers, things will change. If you are simply motivated by dollar signs, you are more likely to remain in a situation that may otherwise be unhealthy. Change can be scary, but allowing ourselves to become victims of our circumstances is much scarier.
On the Very Worst Day . . .
There will always be moments in our lives and careers that are more difficult than others. By allowing yourself to imagine what the very worst day may look like, you are able to see if what you are currently chasing is enough to keep you exactly where you are. If it's not, it may be time to sit with yourself and let your heart talk to your mind.
If the World Were Ending . . .
One of the questions I always ask young women when I am mentoring them through their careers is, "If the world were ending in a month, what would you be doing differently?" The question allows you to think about the changes you would make if you knew everything was coming to an end. Why wait?
Be Flexible
Plans change. We need to allow ourselves to be flexible to these changes and realize that sometimes the original plan isn't going to be what the end game looks like. If we are flexible as changes happen, we allow ourselves the fluidity to adjust accordingly.
Trust
Learning to trust the process when the future is uncertain is hard. It can be one of the most challenging things to navigate through, both in life and your career. By allowing yourself a little grace when things don't go according to plan and learning to trust, life will unfold and things will work out, just as they always do.
Had I only been driven by money and titles, I never would've had the ability to change the trajectory of my own life and career. It is my purpose and passion that create my "why," my reason for coming back and working hard - even on the worst day. It may not be easy, but it is worth it.

All the Gritty Facts For Season 8 of The Walking Dead
Before the seventh season of The Walking Dead was even halfway over, AMC renewed the show for season eight. This means we've got plenty of apocalyptic zombie horror to look forward to, all the way through mid-2018. So if you were feeling bored by the recent season's single-storyline pacing or find yourself looking far, far ahead to a time when Glenn's tragic, graphic death is a distant memory, season eight is the place to go. Let's go over what we know so far.
The Season Will Kick Off With the Show's 100th Episode
Typically, it's a huge deal when any TV show hits this triple-digit benchmark. It must be especially true for TWD, seeing as pretty much every season has been only 16 episodes in length. Considering this accomplishment is also a season premiere, chances are the show could pull out all the stops in a way they might never have before.
The Official Trailer Is Absolutely Wild
During this year's epic Comic-Con weekend down in San Diego, AMC dropped an epic new trailer that had a truly incredible ending. We had two questions: what's with "old Rick," and who's in that storage container?!
Negan Will Play a Big Part
During an interview with Howard Stern, actor and Negan portrayer Jeffrey Dean Morgan confirmed that Negan will still be a big deal, even after season seven concludes. "I know I will be on board for season eight," Morgan said. "We've finished [season seven] a week ago. The next two, I'm really big in. I'm f*cking heavy in those." It makes sense, now that war is officially on. Especially if you know what happens to Negan in the comic books.
We Can Venture a Guess at What Might Happen
Based on what happens in the comics, there's a very strong possibility that season eight will entirely consist of the huge war against the Saviors. If that wraps up in the first half of the season, however, there are more dangers lurking on the horizon. In the comic books, the next evil group is called the Whisperers. And they're just as terrible as Negan and the Saviors, if not more so.
Whatever Happens Will Be "Intense"
During Talking Dead, AMC's aftershow, showrunner Scott Gimple said, "The first four episodes will melt people's minds and break their televisions."
There Is a Definite Premiere Date
At Comic-Con, AMC confirmed the locked-in premiere date for the season. The Walking Dead returns on Oct. 22.

This Optical Illusion Is Blowing the Internet's Collective Mind
Terrific optical illusion by Victoria Skye. @RichardWiseman @chriscfrench http://pic.twitter.com/IeSFupAcfU
- Martin S Taylor (@martinstaylor) August 7, 2017
From a brick wall to the dress, we may be the most technologically advanced generation, but there's nothing we enjoy more than a good mental magic trick. It should come as no surprise, then, that any time someone spots one of these gems in the wild, it immediately makes its way to social media - and immediately goes viral. The latest example of our enduring love for optical mind-trickery, which made its way to the internet this week, comes in the form of a magician's brand new take on a classic optical illusion.
Fifty-eight-year-old Roswell, GA, resident Victoria Skye bills herself as a magical entertainer and illusion artist, and her personal website is chock-full of reasons why that's the perfect way to describe her work. But it took Martin S. Taylor posting one of her artworks to Twitter on Aug. 7 to make her truly go viral - and to spark a fierce debate over whether or not the many lines in the image are bent or, as many claim, are parallel and straight.
The "café wall" illusion is traditionally "an optical illusion produced by a black and white rectangular tessellation when the tiles are shifted in a zigzag pattern," according to Wolfram Alpha, which also confirms that "While the pattern seems to diverge towards the upper and lower right corners in the upper figure, the gray lines are actually parallel." In other words, it's all about the combination of math and colors, which Skye excellently illustrated in her image.
Don't worry, though, if you don't really see what you think you're supposed to - you're not alone. The internet is awash with individuals speculating on whether they had just fallen victim to a hoax, or if there was something wrong with a large percentage of the population's brains. Fortunately, thanks to mathematicians over the past couple of centuries, we can unequivocally say that the lines are in fact straight. You just have to convince your mind to see what it's supposed to.
Real talk: When you do actually see it correctly after staring at it for hours, boy is it a satisfying feeling. Spend some time with a full-size version of Skye's photo, below.

Even though the pair called off their engagement last July, they are still incredibly close friends and support each other at various events. See all the men who have wanted Gaga's bad romance over the years.

These Baby Frida Kahlo Headbands Are the Cutest Thing We've Ever Seen
When the legendary Mexican artist Frida Kahlo was alive, she loved to wear the most elaborate floral headbands. They were always colorful, and she even included them in her famous portraits. Her style was so eclectic, we don't blame anyone for dressing up like her on Halloween. Serena Williams Welcomes a Baby Girl, Who Likely Already Has an Amazing Serve
Serena Williams is a mom! The powerhouse tennis pro gave birth to a baby girl at St. Mary's Medical Center in West Palm Beach, FL, a source confirmed to Us Weekly on Friday. It's the first child for Serena and her fiancé, Reddit cofounder Alexis Ohanian, who got engaged in December 2016. In a recent interview, Alexis told Jimmy Kimmel that the pair were not planning to find out the baby's sex until it arrived, though Serena was convinced they were having a girl because "only a woman could be strong enough" to handle winning the Australian Open in utero.
Serena (accidentally) revealed her pregnancy via Snapchat in April. In July, she posed nude for the cover of Vanity Fair, and she threw a star-studded, retro-themed baby shower in early August that brought out celebrity pals Ciara, Kelly Rowland, and Eva Longoria.
Congrats to Serena and Alexis on their growing family!

Here's What Happens When You Ask Americans to Locate North Korea on a Map
President Donald Trump threatened to unleash "fire and fury" on North Korea on Aug. 8, leaving many wondering if the ongoing war of words between Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un might be taking a more serious turn. But while Twitter was biting its nails and preparing for the apocalypse, our country's late-night shows took an altogether different tack: they lambasted the hell out of the whole scenario. The real winner of the night, however, was Jimmy Kimmel.
Kimmel and his crew took to the streets of Los Angeles armed with the knowledge that, according to a new CNN poll, 50 percent of Americans believe that action needed to be taken against North Korea. His task? To figure out just how many people can identify where the country - one which 72 percent of those polled believe is capable of a strike against the US - is located on a map. And it should come as no surprise that a whole lot of people had almost no idea what the answer to that question was.
There may still be a whole lot of uncertainty about just how this whole scenario will shake out, but it's abundantly clear that as a country we really need to spend a bit more time buried in some geography textbooks - or at least not weigh in on foreign policy before we've done so.

Trump's Latest Nominee, Sam Clovis, Thinks Gay Marriage Leads to Pedophilia
Guess we should have learned our lesson by now. We thought the Trump administration had pretty much scraped rock bottom when it came to its views and policies on the LGBTQ+ community. And then Sam Clovis came along! Clovis is President Donald Trump's nominee for chief scientist for the Department of Agriculture. Not only is he not a scientist, but he believes the following: any LGBTQ+ identity is a choice. In Clovis's scientifically and ethically unsound opinion, legalizing anything that would grant rights to LGBTQ+ individuals will inevitably lead to public acceptance of pedophilia, polyamorous relationships, and other "fetishes."
The damning evidence comes from various comments Clovis made between the years of 2012 and 2014, when his primary daily duties included acting as a talk radio host, political activist, and short-lived US Senate candidate in Iowa. CNN unearthed the most cringe-worthy of Clovis's words.
The troubling root of Clovis's views stems back to his refusal to believe that sexual identity is something we're born with. In a blog post with his byline from April 2013, he discusses how the 14th Amendment protects six classes of Americans. Religion and military "have long been established in the traditions of the nation." The other four - race, gender, disability, and age - are, he claims, based on "primary" characteristics we can "generally discern by visual examination." He goes on to say, "Following this logic, the only way to extend 14th Amendment protections to those in the LGBT lifestyles is if these behaviors are genetically mapped or otherwise discernible. The science on this issue seems to be uncertain."
While on the Iowa campaign trail, he says in a video that "someone who engages in LGBT behavior - I don't know what the science is on this, I think it's still out - but as far as we know, LGBT behavior is a choice they make." Then, he goes deeper.
"So we're being asked to provide Constitutional protections for behavior, a choice in behavior as opposed to a primary characteristic. There's no equivalency there between the civil rights issue associated between those protected classes and the civil rights of someone who engages in a particular behavior. Follow the logic, if you engage in a particular behavior, what also becomes protected? If we protect LGBT behavior, what other behaviors are we going to protect? Are we going to protect pedophilia? Are we going to protect polyamorous marriage relationships? Are we going to protect people who have fetishes? What's the logical extension of this? It can't be that we're going to protect LGBT and then we'll pull up the ladder. That's not going to happen, it defies logic. We're not thinking the consequences of these decisions through . . . I don't think it's extreme. I think it's a logical extension of thought. And if you cannot follow the logic, then you're denying you're in denial."
Clovis claims those that who cannot follow his faulty, rambling logic are in denial, but Clovis himself is in denial about the science behind homosexuality and other sexual identities. According to the American Psychological Association, lesbian, gay, and bisexual orientations were not considered mental illnesses dating back to 1975. The current APA website states that sexual orientation cannot be boiled down to "choice":
"There is no consensus among scientists about the exact reasons that an individual develops a heterosexual, bisexual, gay or lesbian orientation. Although much research has examined the possible genetic, hormonal, developmental, social and cultural influences on sexual orientation, no findings have emerged that permit scientists to conclude that sexual orientation is determined by any particular factor or factors.
