Anastasia Beverly Hills's Holiday Collection Is Here, and You're Going to Want It ALL
Mere months after dropping the Subculture Palette to mixed reviews, Anastasia Beverly Hills is back with a new collection, and it's clear the brand isn't here to play. That's because ABH has just released 10 new products that make up its 2017 Holiday Collection, including "Prism," a new palette. And guess what? These babies are all seriously gorgeous and will give you the brand's famous glow.
Chances are, you've been waiting patiently for this collection ever since you saw ABH President Claudia Soare looking like a luminescent goddess while wearing powders from the launch's Glow Kit. Seriously, the woman was only just sitting in her dang car, but her highlight was so on point.
Well, ladies and gentlemen, meet the Glow Kit's following four shades: "Marshmallow" (iridescent white), "Gumdrop" (a soft lilac), "Starbust" (frosty pink), and "Butterscotch" (bright gold). This range of colors ensures you'll never be of want for a new way to sparkle.
Two new blush sets, Gradient and Radiant, are also included in the line. The first is made up of earthy matte shades like "Dusk" (a medium brown), "Vegas" (a deep berry), "Chocolate" (a cool mocha), and "Blackberry" (a juicy purple).
Radiant includes "Coastline" (a sandy peach), "Spoiled" (a soft pink), "Breeze" (a warm pink), and "Terrace" (an electric orange). Whereas Gradient includes cool neutral tones, Radiant packs a punch of girly color. This is not your New England grandma's holiday collection - there is no pumpkin spice for ABH. Instead, these bright, surfer girl colors are pure West Coast sunshine.
Three new Liquid Lipsticks are a-coming for your beauty bag. By now, you probably know, love, and hoard this product, as it's opaque, yet nondrying and super pigmented. The new hues are sandy browns and soft pinks, so again, if you're asking Claudia Soare, subtlety is the trend of Winter.
Finally, of course, there's the piece de resistance - the brand spanking new Prism Palette. While ABH fans were quick to note on social media that at first glance the 14 new shades strike a resemblance to Subculture, look again and you'll notice that the ultramatte, duo chrome, and metallic finishes sparkle way brighter - because it's the holiday!
We're especially excited about Dimension, a holographic silver powder with speckles of reflective pink (think Daenerys meets unicorn hair), and Throne, a shimmery camo that looks like a Winter evergreen tree - if it sparkled.
Remember, back in August, Norvina called upon social media to let fans have a say into what the new palette's formula should look like. In an emotional post, she asked for constructive criticism, so we can't wait to see how she ran with suggestions about how the powders should feel.
Ahead, see every gorgeous thing you can get your hands on today via the Anastasia Beverly Hills website.

3 Weight-Loss Rules For Breakfast
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day for so many reasons. But you need to make sure that you're doing it right. If you're trying to maintain or lose weight, here are some things to consider when enjoying your first meal of the day.
Eat It Soon
Studies have found that eating breakfast jump-starts your metabolism, and not only that, it can help ensure that you don't feel so starved later that you make bad eating choices for lunch or dinner. To take advantage of your body's fat-burning potential, try to eat breakfast soon after waking up.
Go For Filling
Stay away from foods that can lead to a midmorning crash. Instead, opt for meals that are full of slow-digesting nutrients to help keep you satisfied throughout the morning; high-fiber, high-protein breakfast options are a good choice for feeling full and energized. And make sure your breakfast doesn't have too much sugar in it - here are seven low-sugar, high-protein, and fiber-filled breakfast ideas that fit the bill.
Watch Out For Portions
A big breakfast can help fill you up, but you don't want to overdo it. Check out our handy chart of what servings sizes should look like, and keep calories in check with this list of the amount of calories in typical breakfasts.
The Unexpected Household Item That Will Protect Your Luggage on Your Next Trip
If you've ever checked a bag, you know that it's a risky endeavor that could result in all manner of destruction to your precious cargo - if you even get it back at all. While you can't control whether or not your bag is lost by the airline, you can prevent some of the damage caused by the rough and tumble journey your bag takes en route to your destination.
This simple hack requires only one household item - plastic wrap - and just a few minutes of your time. In my case, I am mostly worried about the bow on the front of my rolling suitcase ripping off, so I've wrapped the plastic wrap three times tightly around the center of the bag, but you could also wrap it around the entire bag if you were really worried about scuffs or marks on the material. Bonus: no tape is required since the wrap sticks to itself. It also discourages people from tampering with your bag (or at the very least, you'll know if someone has opened your bag). Some airports offer professional baggage wrapping services, but you'll have to pay a fee - this is free and easy, though!
This Zombie Princess Jasmine Costume Is Both Gross and Gorgeous
You know how that Aladdin song goes: "Arabian nights, beneath Arabian moons. A fool off his guard could fall and fall hard," . . . and in our Halloween-obsessed world, get attacked by zombies! Well, maybe that's not the exact lyrics, but this Halloween, we've taken Princess Jasmine to the dark side. The undead side, as a matter of fact. This royal would fit in just as well on the set of The Walking Dead as she does in the Arabian Desert.
With the help of resident makeup artist Faina Rudshteyn at the Make Up For Ever boutique in NYC, we made Jasmine over. In the process, we snagged essential 3D makeup tips for any gory Halloween costume (like use cotton balls to make your wounds gush). But we still maintained that classic cat eye Jasmine is known for. She may be a zombie, but she's still a princess!
This Makeup Artist's Comic Book Transformations Will Make Your Skin Crawl
Canadian makeup artist Lianne Moseley has recently received widespread attention for her terrifyingly true-to-life renderings of famous comic book, video game, and pop culture characters. Moseley frequently models her own creations on Instagram, however, she also offers her services to other cosplayers.
Though the makeup artist is skilled at painting comic book sirens, her villainous characters are particularly chilling. (Seriously - we might have a hard time sleeping after seeing her Joker impersonation.) While it might be difficult to re-create Lianne's advanced work this Halloween, consider it a jumping-off point for your own costume. Look ahead for some of our favorites.
This Makeup Artist Creates Otherworldly Works of Art on Her Body
Hollywood special effects makeup artist Emily Anderson works on movies and TV shows creating gashes, wounds, and spooky creatures. But even in her spare time, she's dedicated to her craft, posting out-of-this-world body art creations on Instagram. One visit to her feed will have you thinking about your next Halloween costume . . . even if it's the middle of Winter!
Her looks range from terrifying monsters to ethereal beings, with a few of your favorite pop culture characters mixed in, too. Several of her creations are so convincing, that Emily blends into the background and disappears completely, leaving only an eerie masterpiece behind.
You likely won't be surprised to learn that these transfixing designs can be time-consuming to create. On Reddit, she's explained that her work can take hours. However, if you're hoping to try your hand at this kind of makeup artistry, you should know that Emily's favorite tools include stage makeup brands such as Mehron, Ben Nye and the Wolfe Art FX Hydrocolor Palette ($30) to achieve the saturated colors of her creations. Read on to see some of Emily's most striking looks.
Why I Ditched My Go-To Black Eyeliner For a $4 Drugstore One
True story: when I was 18, as a fresh-faced youngin' spending her first night in New York City, my friends and I tried to get into a club. I barely wore any makeup, looked all of 12 years old, and smelled like ProActive. Needless to say, I was going to have a hard time getting in. The promoter we were with grabbed my arm, dragged me into an alley, and pulled out a . . . Bobbi Brown Kohl Eyeliner ($27).
"This makes you look older," he said as he smeared it on my waterline. I got into the club, have worn it ever since, and bought a replacement every three months like a good nugget should. Thanks for the memories, Bobbi!
I'm only 22, so for the longest time, looking older was the ultimate goal. But when I got "ma'am"-d while going through TSA a few months ago, I had somewhat of an existential crisis. Maybe my go-to black Kohl, the eyeliner I always thought made me look sophisticated, actually just aged me. I could have cried. (But if I did, my eyeliner probably would have stayed put - again, it's an exceptional product!)
We've all heard of glow-ups, where a person Draco Malfoys out of their awkward phase and emerges a beautiful butterfly. I guess I was in need of a glow-down . . . I wanted to get some of that youthful spontaneity back into my day-to-day makeup.
Luckily, my need for a glow-down came right around the time I had a meeting with reps from CYO, a new Walgreens makeup brand. Perhaps you've seen this brand during one of your recent trips to the drugstore. The products have sleek black packaging and trendy designs, and the first time I saw it on the store shelves, I honestly thought I was at Ulta.
Everything in this line is bright, colorful, and under $10 - so, I assume, it's where the youths would shop. If you take a look at CYO's hot pink dual Lipstick & Liner, shimmering bronze Contour Stick, or two-toned Ombre Lipstick ($6), it looks like the perfect line to wear to an *NSYNC concert in 1998. Consider me sold.
CYO sells a Kohl Gel Eyeliner ($4) in Highflier, which is a disco-perfect electric blue. It has a slight shimmer shine, but I wouldn't call it metallic. The pencil's tip is somewhat chubbier than other applicators, which means it swipes on a dramatic, full line of color (pictured below).

Whereas dark black eyeliner sometimes accentuates the fact that I only got four hours of sleep last night, this blue one brightens my dark eyes up. I've noticed that people are much better with their eye contact now, because the hue is just so damn captivating.
What's more, this stuff lasts (and lasts, and lasts). If you've been proud of your thick, black eyeliner in the morning only to leave for lunch wondering where it went, you'll appreciate how durable Highflier is. I'm also not the gentlest with my eyeliners, but the tip has stayed sharp, despite my best efforts to pummel it onto my waterline.
Be warned: I get carded every time I wear this liner. A 16-year-old skater boy tried to flirt with me on the subway, à la that iconic restaurant scene in 13 Going On 30. I look a bit like a child.
But that's what makes it so magical. Whenever I see my reflection, whether it be while washing my hands in the bathroom or checking myself out while passing by a store window, I get an instant pop of color that always makes me smile.
There are still days that call for my black kohl liner, and at this point I usually wear my Highflier hue one or two days a week, plus nights I go out. In fact, my past few Saturday nights have included many bar bathroom encounters, where I've made new friends when girls ask me what eyeliner I'm wearing. To be honest, this look is so cool, I can hardly blame them for asking. This eyeliner is a surefire way to look fun as f*ck.
Why I Sometimes Regret Owning Instead of Renting
As a fan of HGTV and all things home, when my husband and I were shopping for our house, I naturally had a carefully crafted list of must haves. Things like a brick exterior, tree-lined streets, room to expand when needed, and proximity to a train line were all important to us, and other than a fireplace, we got everything we asked for. Despite essentially having our dream house, there's still days where I wish we hadn't even bothered.
I acknowledge that it seems like I'm being the worst kind of privileged millennial, complaining about a blessing, something that many people dream of. Yet, owning a home and the kind of stresses that comes with it sometimes makes me yearn for the easy days of renting.
For us, being renters allowed for a more transient lifestyle. Roommates would come in and out of our lives, and we were given the opportunity to take long trips away. Being renters for us was less like having a home and more like having a home base, a place to put our things so we could go out on adventures. It's that kind of free-spiritedness I sometimes miss.
When we were renters, we used to bemoan the lack of flexibility with decor. If we wanted to paint, we'd have to do so knowing that when we moved, we'd likely have to pay to get it back to some mundane version of taupe.
Even so, there was something freeing about painting a rented space because we knew we'd only have to put up with it for a couple years at most. I made bolder design choices because of the temporary nature of renting. Hanging weird and large pictures didn't bother me because we could just spackle over the spots before we left.
Now, as an owner, the whole house is painted a basic light gray, like almost every other home that we go into, because it's clean and simple, and I know it will still look good 10 years from now when we still live here.
The decision to hang artwork is also fraught with potential problems. Even if we spackle and fix misplaced holes, the color will never again match the rest of the previously painted walls. Staring at that shiny patch will bug me to the point of needing to bust out the paint cans and redo an entire room.
For us, to own is to care, often too much. While I love talking about and planning the future of our building with my husband, it does suck up a lot of time. House work in general becomes a bit of a time void, where we continually put energy in only to have it disperse and need more.
Just the general amount of maintenance and repairs destroys any free time we have. During the first winter in our house, our boiler, which must have been held together with duct tape and prayers, died during a particularly harsh cold spell. We've since had to replace our washer and dryer for similar reasons, and we're currently in the market for a toilet that actually flushes and a stove that gets above 300 degrees.
Basic home repairs that used to be the responsibility of a landlord or rental company are now ours, and the cost adds up. That beautiful brick building we longed for needs some tuck-pointing, which is where they fill in the gaps between the brick and mortar. Thousands of dollars also will be needed to trim back and maintain our front tree and potentially fix any damage to our sewer caused by rogue roots.
Compounded with increasing property taxes, of which my state of Illinois has the highest in the country, and owning a home can sometimes feel overwhelming.
Owning is about giving up time that we sometimes don't want to relinquish, and money we may not have.
Yet, we stay. We bought because we want our son to grow up here, to have a childhood home where he can walk to school. We bought because we wanted an investment in our futures and to cement our lives somewhere that we feel passionately about. At the end of the day, we want a home, not just a home base to dump our things, and the cost for now is worth it.
1 Look at Queen Letizia's Gorgeous Collection of Ball Gowns, and You'll Be in Love
Even though modern royals prefer affordable dresses from brands like Zara and trendy pieces like comfy track pants, a queen isn't a queen without a serious collection of ball gowns.
In true frugal form, Queen Letizia, who often repeats outfits from head to toe without a care in the world, has worn the same party dresses to royal weddings, galas, dinners, and award ceremonies for the past 10+ years. In fact, since 2004, we've spotted Letizia in only 26 different gowns - hey, for the Queen of Spain, that's not that much! Scroll ahead to ooh and aah over all of them.
The Major Life Change Queen Letizia of Spain Had to Make Before Becoming a Royal
Spain's King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia's love story is a fairy tale straight out of a movie. If you believe in destiny, Letizia, a commoner, was meant to marry a royal all along, but it was actually her badass career pre-Felipe that led to the chance encounter that ended in her marriage to one of the most coveted royal bachelors at the time.
Letizia Ortiz Rocasolano connected to the crown through her award-winning journalism career. While everyone now admires her for how she carries herself in meetings with heads of states (and her amazing wardrobe), back in the early 2000s, Letizia was known for the stories she would file from around the world, including war-torn Iraq, downtown Manhattan after the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, and from the ground at the 2000 US presidential election.
Letizia's ambition started while she was still very young, as she followed in her father's footsteps to become a journalist. In an interview with Newsweek, the former headmaster of her elementary school gave us a glimpse into how her successful career wasn't an overnight success but instead a product of years of dedication, saying: "[Letizia was] very intelligent and hardworking - but with a sharp edge."
Following her time in grade school, Queen Letizia went on to study journalism at the Complutense University of Madrid and received a master's degree from the Institute For Studies in audiovisual journalism. She held jobs at Spanish newspapers La Nueva España and ABC and hosted the daily news at CNN+ and Televisión Espanola. Like a true queen who only gives 100 percent to all she does, Letizia was awarded the Madrid Press Association's Larra Award for most accomplished journalist, all before the age of 30.
When in 2003, Prince Felipe and Letizia announced their engagement, the pair had been dating in secret after a colleague of the journalist introduced the couple at a dinner per Felipe's request. Letizia may have left her job as a news anchor for her royal obligations, but she has never left behind her strong and independent ways.
After Years of Struggling, Here's How I Finally Learned to Do Push-Ups
Let me tell you about my relationship with push-ups - as in, it didn't really exist. After years and years (and years!) of working out, being able to do a set of perfect push-ups never seemed to happen for me. I can plank for a decent amount of time, can deadlift a respectable barbell weight, and have run my fair share of races, but push-ups? Nope. And as a fitness editor, this has always felt embarrassing. This month I decided to get serious to conquer the elusive push-up and invested in personal training.
My first session with Austin Lopez, BS, CSCS, and trainer at DIAKADI, was a lesson in honesty. For years, my typical workout routine consisted of stringing together studio classes. One day I was at SoulCycle, the next day I was popping into yoga, and later in the week I threw in a couple of HIIT classes. At what point, Austin asked me, was I doing focused push-up work (or even going to the same studio enough to track my progress there)? If you want to master push-ups, you need to be doing push-ups on a consistent basis - period. Even if you have a strong core, arms, and chest, your body hasn't been consistently tasked with using them together in this specific movement. So we dug in, and in the process I was taught a push-up modification that trumps all others: the negative push-up.
A negative push-up focuses solely on the downward (aka eccentric) movement of the push-up. An easy way to envision the exercise is to think of it like doing one-half of a full push-up; by putting all the load on the eccentric movement, "you focus on elongating the muscle," said Austin.
Negative Push-Up How-To
- Start in a plank position with your arms and legs straight, shoulders above the wrists, core engaged.
- Take a breath in, and as you exhale, slowly bend your elbows, lowering your entire body to the floor for a six- to eight-second count. This counts as one rep. Note: When lowering to the ground, do your best to not collapse, making sure your entire body touches the floor at the same time. If it's too hard to maintain the exercise for six to eight seconds, start with a four- to six-second count.
- Perform for a total of eight reps.
"Because of the eccentric loading, you do a lot of 'damage' to the muscle, which is good when it comes to strength," said Austin. "When the muscle rebuilds itself, it will have to increase the size of its fibers that were damaged, making them stronger and better at contracting." In layman's terms: first you're gonna feel sore, and then you're gonna get swole.
Doing negative push-ups has been a total revelation for me. The modification has forced me to keep more control of my body and has tasked my muscles to turn on and work. I've been more aware of my form while still staying in the same movement as the conventional exercise, and I'm excited to say that I'm doing more push-ups on my toes than ever before, thanks to the strength I've built by performing this move.
An important note from Austin, trainer extraordinaire, "The most important part of this is to make sure you don't lose form while going down [in negative push-ups]; otherwise, you might as well not do them." A couple of form cues to keep in mind: be aware of your hips, and do not allow them to drop. If they do, it means "the abs are not being turned on or are not strong enough." Also, stop shrugging your shoulders up to your ears! "Not only does this take away from the desired effect of a push-up - chest, shoulders, triceps work - it also sets your shoulders up for long-term damage. A great tip for taking the shrug out is to rotate your elbows so that the pit [inside bend] of the elbow faces forward, and engage your hands to really grip the ground.
If your form is still off, try to modify by doing an incline push-up over choosing a push-up on your knees. "These are a little better at increasing your strength in the actual push-up because you are stressing your body in the way that is desired long-term," he said. As you become stronger in the move, continue to lower the angle of your push-up until you're parallel with the ground.

My Sister Is Nothing Like Me - and That's Why She's My Best Friend
Rachel was in seventh grade when she called me into her room to reveal her latest project. Big, bold cutout letters lined the top of her wall: a border that read, "This Is Me - Nobody Said You Had to Like It." I said the words aloud, taking in her message. My sister and I had been inseparable since the day she was born, when I got to visit the hospital and cradle her on a pillow on my lap. She was three years younger, but age was of no importance.
By the time she was in seventh grade, I knew Rachel well - and I knew she understood the phrase she'd just plastered on her wall. I knew that she meant it, but I couldn't fully grasp the concept myself. That's because I had always cared an awful lot what people thought of me. I shaped myself to fit standards and strived hard to impress. I was a worrier, while Rachel just didn't give a damn.
Though I'll never be able to own that same mantra as my sister, growing up with Rachel has taught me to at least embrace the idea. My sister has taught me many things, but above all else, she's showed me how to be OK with the person that I am. She's dared me to flaunt my most unique qualities, not hide them. She's challenged me to take responsibility for my vices, and work to change my behavior. The crazy thing is, Rachel's done all this just by being herself.
Some would say Rachel and I have opposite personalities. But there are eight key differences between us that strengthen our relationship. More importantly, these differences have shaped me into who I am - they've defined me. Read on to see why my sister, who's nothing like me, turned out to be my best friend.
You'll Know You're a "Real" Adult When You Accept These 25 Truths
I'm a firm believer in tough love. When it comes to figuring things out, I take the "sink or swim" approach, and even if it seems a bit harsh at the time, in the long run it usually means people come out better and stronger for it. There are some valuable life lessons to be learned that are easier pills to swallow than others - here are some brutally honest ones.
1. Life's tough. Get a helmet.
Relationships fail, people can be jerks, you can't always get what you want, and at some point in your life, you will have to stand outside in the pouring rain without an umbrella. Accept the fact that life isn't always easy, but draw strength from the knowledge that what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, and the hard stuff makes you appreciate the good things even more.
2. If you want to play hard, you really do have to work hard.
It's a trade-off, so deal with it. If it's any consolation, it's usually worth it.
3. If you f*ck up, it's your responsibility to fix it.
You're not a kid anymore, and no one is going to run behind you with a broom sweeping up your messes - nor should they. If you make a mistake, it's your obligation to rectify the mistake. As long as you're willing to admit it and embrace the consequences as yours and yours alone, then it's totally within your capabilities to make things right, too.
4. Your driver's license photo will never, ever be flattering.
Unwritten law of the universe: Any remotely attractive photo taken of a person getting their license will be secretly and immediately destroyed. The picture will be retaken until the end result is nothing short of cringeworthy.
5. Sometimes you have to give people the benefit of the doubt.
Some people don't even always deserve it. And it's never easy to do. And sometimes you give someone the benefit of the doubt, and it ends up blowing up in your face. But the best thing ever is when you give someone a chance, reserve your judgement, and realize there's a damn good reason for the way they are. You will definitely learn something more about them in the process, and you will probably figure some stuff out about yourself too.
6. You have control over your life.
Scary, right? The control you have over what happens to you can be both liberating and utterly terrifying. Do with it what you will - but you are the puppet master of your own play, so make it interesting, make it good, and make it something you can be proud of.
7. Making compromises is a good thing. Compromising yourself is NOT.
There's a fine line between changing your mind and changing who you are. Toe it with caution, and remember that nothing is worth compromising your core beliefs, even if it may seem like it will make your life easier at the time.
8. Success is just about perception.
You (and only you) can determine what success really means, because it differs from person to person. Maybe some days success is just making it out of bed, maybe other days it's parachuting out of plane. You get to decide.
9. Some people are just big assh*les.
And there's nothing you can do about it, so don't try. The good news is that the world is also full of really amazing people, too. So hang on to the good ones really tightly, and forget about the rest.
10. School doesn't come close to teaching you everything you need to know.
About life, that is. It's obviously valuable for countless logical reasons - getting a degree, broadening your horizons, teaching you how to fill in a tiny circle by the letters "A, B, C, or D," etc., etc. Still, it's just a tip of the iceberg and once you've left your 20s behind, it's easier to place your education in the box where it belongs and continue checking off other ones that aren't yet complete.
11. Love isn't just a feeling, it's a choice you make.
The older you get, the more complicated your relationships become. It's easy to fall in love, but it isn't always easy to stay in the same place you fell. Love is a choice you make every day, to love or not to love, to try or not to try, to work at it or not to work at it.
12. You can't help someone who doesn't want to be helped.
Sometimes you are fighting a losing battle with a person, and the best thing you can is bow out of the situation. As you get older, you get better at knowing when to recognize this and at making the (difficult) choice of just letting go.
13. Money won't solve your problems.
Money isn't magical. It can help with some of the more immediate problems, true, but you have to work through the real sh*t to be happy in life, and those things, more often than not, aren't money-related.
14. You are not the center of the universe.
Your problems are real, but they are not the only problems. Everyone lives in their own worlds, but it's essential to understand and acknowledge all the other worlds around you. It helps keeps things in perspective.
15. Things are rarely as cool as they seem.
No matter how big people talk, things rarely live up to the hype. But sometimes you have to weed through the mediocre to get to the really good stuff, so never shy away from a new opportunity. Approach new experiences with the expectations of a realist, but the hopes of an idealist.
16. You can't make everybody happy.
You can't make everybody happy, so don't even try. The harder you to try to please people, the more you forget to focus on your own happiness - and your happiness matters! Be kind, be considerate, but know that not everyone is going to like what you do or say, or even who you are, and that's totally OK.
17. Sometimes you have to put yourself first.
Thinking of yourself first isn't necessarily synonymous with being selfish. Sometimes your immediate needs or wants take precedence over someone else's - and there's nothing wrong with that. The key is knowing how to recognize when and where to exercise this luxury.
18. Jealousy is a huge waste of time.
Someone is always going to have something you want, and you're always going to have something someone else wants. See the conundrum here? The grass isn't always greener, and worrying about what could be will drive you insane.
19. Change is good. Sometimes.
All change is not bad change, even if it's ridiculously hard at first. Still, don't feel bad if you hate it, because it's not always right, and change for the sake of change is not always a good enough reason to make big moves.
20. You're not getting any younger.
You're not getting any younger, and your bucket list isn't getting any shorter. Start crossing sh*t off, like, now.
21. Sometimes you just don't have the answers.
You don't always know if what you're doing is right. We're all just winging it most of the time anyway, so at the very least, it should be a comfort knowing that even if you're clueless, you're not alone.
22. It's never too late to change.
Though your 20s are arguably the decade you grow and change the most, it doesn't mean that you are done becoming who you ultimately want to be when you leave them. Nobody's perfect, and we should all be open to change. If there's something you don't like, there's always time to do what you need to do to get to a place where you really love yourself.
23. Even if you have "more important" things to do, you NEED to get a good night's sleep.
Don't be a hero. You can't always be that young college student cramming for a test, and pulling an all-nighter will probably do more harm than good in the long run. Sleep. The world will not end if you do.
24. You can't have it all.
You can have A LOT! You can have amazing things, you can do almost anything, and your life can be what you make it. But you can't have it ALL - no one can. So aim high, but not so high that you make yourself miserable trying to live up to unattainable expectations.
25. The only time you should look back is to see just how far you've come.
You're probably doing better than you think you are. When you see analyze things microscopically, you'll probably find a lot more wrong than if you take a step back, look at the big picture, and see all you've accomplished.

17 Things You Never Knew About the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, From a Former Employee
The moment I stepped foot into Diagon Alley at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter Orlando, I was completely overwhelmed with actual childlike wonder - and I'm not using that phrase lightly. From a diehard Potter fan's perspective, it is everything you could dream of . . . and more. Since my first trip to Universal Orlando's Harry Potter World, I've ventured to Harry Potter World Hollywood, which is another amazing extension of the wizarding world.
Still, there's something special about Florida's park that has always spoken to me, and like most fans, I've devoured any facts, tips, and secrets I could about this magical place. A few months ago, a former employee of Wizarding World did a revealing AMA on Reddit, where user tabathafortis answered pretty much any question you can imagine about what it's like to work at the park and what things only employees would know. Read on for some fascinating answers to questions fans asked about Harry Potter World in Orlando.
3 Things You Need to Be Focusing on If You Want to Up Your Fitness Game
We've all been there: out of breath, over it, and ready to throw in our gym towels and never look back. Oftentimes this happens because we're not seeing progress with our workouts, at least not the kind we were expecting. What gives? To get to the bottom of what's stalling our progress, we turned to personal trainer Austin Lopez, CSCS.
More often than not, it's likely that the "overload principle" is being ignored, Austin told POPSUGAR. A basic tenet in training, the overload principle is easy to grasp and makes total sense. Put simply, we need to consistently be working harder to see change. "You have to push yourself more because the body is good at adapting to whatever you throw at it," Austin said. If you want to see changes, you need to change it up - and often. But you don't need to go into it blindly. In fact, there's a ton of evidence on exactly where you should devote your efforts.
1. Time and Frequency
You don't necessarily have to give up the classes you love or your sacred time on the treadmill; just do more of what you're already doing. This can happen in a lot of ways, said Austin. For starters, add an extra class or gym session onto your schedule. If that's not possible, try adding time to your existing workouts. Instead of a 45-minute TRX class, look for a 60-minute class; even challenging yourself to an extra 10 minutes on the treadmill can lead to results.
2. Speed
When it comes to cardio-based workouts like running, cycling, or time on the elliptical, challenge yourself to increase your overall pace. If you usually run an 11-minute mile, start to shave that down to a 10-minute mile by slowly increasing the speed of your runs. You can also work on speed by incorporating interval training into your cardio and strength workouts by alternating between a period of maxing out your efforts with a period of recovery. Think HIIT, Tabata, and tempo runs.
This type of increased intensity will also aid in weight loss, said Austin. "From an exercise perspective, interval training is the most effective way to get lean," he said. "The more intense the workout, the more the body has to recover, which translates into more calories over time." This is due to the afterburn effect (excess postexercise oxygen consumption, or EPOC), which helps to increase your metabolism, resulting in hundreds of extra calories to be burned throughout the day.
3. Load
The easiest way to think about load is to equate it with weight. Essentially you're "loading" the body up with more weight and challenging it to work harder. The next time you're in a strength-training class or at the gym, choose a heavier weight than you're used to. You may be surprised that you can actually manage more than you thought possible. If more weight seems daunting, start by doing shorter sets with less reps. "By going heavier, you'll be breaking down muscle at a higher rate, making it stronger than it was before," said Austin.
The Right Way to Incorporate Frequency, Speed, and Load
If you've hit a wall, there's no better time than now to start upping your intensity in one of these areas. While Austin's advice is to go "as intense as you can," he added that this is all relative to the individual. "The more intense you make any workout, the more unsafe it can become," he said. "Ease into it, and find out what's possible for you." While you are tasking yourself with going harder, you still want to make sure your form is on and you aren't feeling lightheaded or dizzy while working out. "Push it little by little," said Austin.
A good way to keep yourself safe is by focusing on only one of these areas at a time (frequency, speed, load). Besides preventing injury, "it's also a great way to measure your success rate because it controls one variable."

19 Photos That Prove Emerald Hair Is Edgy Yet Wearable
If you've been testing out rainbow hair trends (or admiring them from afar), you know that some colors seem easier to wear than others. Denim strands and a rose gold mane always look chic, but asking for green locks at the salon can be risky. If your colorist gets it wrong, you could look like you're playing the Joker in the upcoming Suicide Squad movie. But if she's successful, you'll look confident, edgy, and just plain magnificent.
The key to looking glorious and not ghoulish is asking your stylist for emerald hair. She should mix the verdant hues with a black additive like Pravana ChromaSilk Vivids Black, which will transform the dye into a smoky shade. This will make your green color stylish rather than Swamp Thing.
Still nervous? Try the trend using the ombré method. That way, if you can't stand the way the ends of your strands look (though we're pretty sure you'll love them!), you can snip off the color. We've rounded up 20 stunning dye jobs that prove that it's completely worth it to give green a chance.
I Wrote Down Something I Was Grateful For Every Day For 8 Days, and Here's What Happened
You know when you're in a black hole of b*tching to your friends/family/anyone who will listen about the most mundane things, and someone responds to your complaints with "it could always be worse" (which is probably the last thing you want to hear while you're complaining)? We are a society of complainers; we complain on social media, we complain to our colleagues, and we even make friends by way of complaining.
I decided I was done complaining (LOL, yeah right), at least for a week. I woke up every day and wrote down something I was grateful for. It sounds ubercheesy and you might be rolling your eyes as you read this, but let me tell you, I had a pretty f*cking good week. I woke up every morning and was forced to focus on something positive, and I also learned that I am grateful for a variety of strange and specific things. No judgments, please.
How This Woman Retired at Age 32 - and Says You Can Too
Anita Dhake is retired. At 32 years old, she walked away from her well-paid job as a lawyer and hasn't looked back since. Yes, she racked up almost $100,000 of debt during three years of law school, but once she got out of school, Anita took a different approach than many of her peers chose. After graduating from the University of Chicago's law school, she decided she would work hard until she paid off her debt and saved enough to retire as soon as possible. She did the math, and that meant quitting once she had saved 25 years' worth of living expenses, which she would keep relatively low. She wouldn't have a fancy car or house, but would make up for it with the personal freedom and energy to check off her personal bucket list. After five years of working and maintaining a frugal lifestyle, Anita reached her goal and left the office for good.
Anita's story almost sounds too good to be true, but after talking to her, I realized that she's simply making trade-offs available to many other young people - even those who don't pull in a six-figure salary. Since retiring in 2015, Anita now writes about her life as a financially independent 30-something on her blog The Power of Thrift and believes other young people can retire early, too. Even though she's retired, Anita is still productive and growing; she travels the world and even wrote a book, set to come out later this year. But instead of doing this "work" for the money, she does it for the pleasure of improving her life. If you want to know her secrets, including the practicality of how she actually invests her savings to make it last, read our interview below.
11 Things Not Worth the Money
How to Prepare For (Very) Early Retirement
POPSUGAR: How much money do people generally need to save to retire early?
AD: You need about 25 times your yearly expenses to be safe. The less you need, the sooner you can retire. The day I quit, I had $690,000. It's almost two years later, and I've earned perhaps $400 from my blog, but my net worth is now more than $800,000 thanks to investments.
PS: Could you share how much you made each year as a lawyer? Out of that, how much did you spend vs. save?
AD: My starting salary was $160,000. By my last year, I made about $320,000. I was living in Sydney, Australia, and got a cost of living adjustment plus bonuses. I never saved less than 75 percent of my paycheck. Sometimes as high as 90 percent. My expenses in Chicago were around $1,500-$2,000 per month. In Australia, it was maybe $3,000 or so.
PS: Do you think someone with a lower salary could retire early, too?
AD: It's more about your savings rate than your income. With a lower salary, of course it will take longer than my five years working as a lawyer, but isn't retiring at 45 still better than retiring at 65? If you think it will be impossible to retire early, then it will be. It takes creativity and determination, but it's possible.
PS: What is the first thing a young person should do if they want to retire early?
People don't track their spending, so they have no idea how much they're actually wasting on short-term happiness splurges.
AD: Ask themselves why and what kind of life they want. Then work toward that life. I wanted to travel and sleep in and write and read and just generally be a bum. Every time my alarm clock woke me up for work, I'd reiterate to myself what I wanted. Keep in mind the big goal so you're not distracted by the shiny objects of everyday life. Know what you're working toward.
It's easy to get lost in the day to day. That's the point of working. To buy stuff. Keep your eye on the big prize and go for the big and harder happiness. The autonomy. The ability to design your own life. I also think people don't track their spending, so they have no idea how much they're actually wasting on short-term happiness splurges that fade way too quickly for how much of your precious money you just wasted on it.
Anita uses her newfound freedom to travel the world, including Rio de Janeiro, where she took this photo.
How to Make Sure You Don't Run Out of Money
PS: How do you make money today if you're not working?
AD: There are different paths to financial independence, but I took the lazy path. My investment vehicle of choice for my savings is VTSAX, which is the total stock market index fund from Vanguard. With my strategy, I'm betting on civilization continuing. I pay the lowest amount of fees possible. Fees are what ruin your portfolio.
PS: So your long-term "savings" plan is to live off the gains from the original money you saved and invested?
AD: The market returns, on average, seven percent per year. I guesstimate I'll lose three percent for inflation. This means I can take out four percent each year and still maintain my buying power and not touch the principal [the original $690,000 she saved]. Theoretically. So far, so good. Also, I practice sensible flexibility. I recently spent about $7,500 crossing off life bucket list item number six - writing a book. So I house-sat for five months instead of renting.
PS: You mention you need to save 25 times your yearly expenses, which would be about about $27,000 per year for you. Did you accurately estimate your yearly expenses? Do you still feel comfortable living within that budget?
I buy everything I want, whenever I want. The key is, I just don't want that much.
AD: I've been tracking my expenses for years, so I knew exactly what I needed. So far, I've always spent way under what I'm "allowed" to spend per my retirement chart. I'm not concerned at all. I buy everything I want, whenever I want. The key is, I just don't want that much. I know what makes me happy and buy that. I also have a lot more time to save creatively. It's cheaper to fly on a Tuesday than a Friday. I can house-sit all over the world. I can always alter my extravagant lifestyle, hang out in a cheap country for a bit. It's about sensible flexibility.
PS: You're still young so a lot could change in your life, including adding a romantic partner or child or dealing with an unexpected health issue. How do you think that would impact your financial independence?
AD: If I were to find a romantic partner - which I hope happens! - I imagine my finances would improve. I'd have someone to split housing expenses with. I'd eat more dinners at home. I feel asinine talking about kids when I don't have any, but I do think kids don't need as much stuff as we buy them. The most valuable thing you can give your child is your time. And isn't childcare the most expensive part of having children? If you don't work, you can stay at home home with them. I know people who have used cloth diapers and made their own baby food. I wouldn't save for my child's education. I graduated with student loans and think it gave me perspective. It's better when everything isn't handed to you. Again, I'm childless and single, so feel free to scoff and ignore me here.
A health scare is the hardest part for me. But there's a good possibility I could go bankrupt if I got sick with excellent health insurance. There are too many holes in that system. I've read about people going to other countries and paying out of pocket where it's cheaper. I know that's not a satisfying answer.
Early retirement gives Anita time to meet new people, read new books, and, perhaps most importantly, sleep in.
What It's Actually Like to Be Retired in Your 30s
PS: How did your friends and family take the news that you wanted to retire at 32?
I'd been talking about retiring early for years before pulling the trigger. I paid off nearly $100,000 in student loans in a year and wouldn't shut up about it. I had a retirement chart where I tracked my expenses and my projected passive income and I showed it to anyone who expressed interest. By the time I pulled the trigger, people expected it. My family in particular just sees it as normal and "Anita" because I've been obsessed with the idea for ages. I also tried to talk to all my friends about it because I think it's so attainable if it's even a little bit appealing. It just takes focus and creativity.
PS: What would you say to people who worry they would be bored in early retirement? Or that they would rather work so they don't have to watch their spending so closely?
If you love your job and can happily do it for the rest of your life, then it doesn't matter how long your working life is. All I care about is that people are thoughtful about the decision.
AD: I don't understand the boredom comment from people. There's so much to do! So many books to read. So many places to travel to. So many people to meet and befriend. So many items left on my life bucket list to tackle. Plus, I love to sleep.
I realize this life isn't for everyone and that there are some people who genuinely like to work and make money. I say awesome sauce to you if that's the case. Enjoyment of time is primary, and if you love your job and can happily do it for the rest of your life, then it doesn't matter how long your working life is. All I care about is that people are thoughtful about the decision and don't just mindlessly go along with it because that's what most people do.
PS: What do you make of "minimalism" trends like KonMari? Do you see an overall trend toward wanting fewer material things and striving for financial independence?
AD: I'm a huge fan of KonMari. She perfectly encapsulates how one should look at stuff. The more you have, the less it all individually means. If you're deliberate about your stuff, it most certainly can bring you joy. As long as it's not mindless consumption, stuff can be super useful and help your life. I love how mainstream the idea is becoming, but I think it still has a long way to go.
This Illegal Hike in Hawaii Is Nicknamed the "Stairway to Heaven" For Good Reason
One of Hawaii's most epic hikes, known as the Haiku Stairs, is famous for its stunning views and illegal climb. Despite being a steep 3,922-step hike - and not to mention dangerous since becoming damaged by a storm in 2015 - the ladder remains a popular destination among hikers and visitors.
The "Stairway to Heaven" is an appropriate nickname as some of the peaks even tower above the clouds and offer incredible sights of the island of Oahu below. The almost-vertical ladder, which reaches the top of Pu'u Keahi a Kahoe, has a height of over 2,500 feet. Although it was built in 1943 during World War II, it wasn't until 1987 when the Haiku Stairs was deemed off limits to the public. But according to Instagram photos, it still looks like people trespass every day to experience the notorious hike for themselves.
Though we don't encourage anybody to endanger their lives or even risk receiving a fine, we do have to admit that the Stairway to Heaven looks pretty damn cool.

The Genius Hack For Transforming Into a Beautiful Mermaid With Makeup
Mermaids - hands down - are predicted to be one of the hottest Halloween costumes for the 2016 season. Get into a sea siren spirit via shimmering scales on your cheekbones, ocean-hued eyed shadow, and a rainbow waves.

Vitiligo Dolls Now Exist, Because Barbie Isn't For Everyone
Sorry, Barbie, there's a new doll in town! Kay Black, the artist behind Kay Customz, has handmade customized dolls with vitiligo to bring diversity into children's lives. For children with the skin pigmentation condition, these dolls are an incredible way to boost self-esteem and remind them that they are beautiful.
While the beauty industry has made many changes to celebrate diversity, these dolls can teach children to celebrate differences at a young age. Black paints porcelain dolls with unique patterns to represent real women with the skin condition, and she was reportedly inspired by Winnie Harlow, who has vitiligo. The Canadian model was discovered as a contestant on America's Next Top Model in 2014 and has since shaken up the industry. She's never let her condition stop her from following her dreams, and these dolls can teach children to do the same.

This Homemade Drain Cleaner Will Banish Clogs For Good
If your drain isn't flowing as easily as it should, then it's probably a bit clogged. Instead of paying big bucks for chemical-filled concoctions, try fixing the problem yourself with a homemade drain cleaner. It costs basically nothing to make and can be used weekly to help prevent buildup. Safe to use in the bathroom or kitchen, the drain buster will have your sink or tub flowing freely in no time. Have a really plugged pipe? We've even found the solution for seriously stopped drains.
What You'll Need:
- Paper towel
- 1/4 cup baking soda
- 1/4 cup salt
- 1/4 cup cream of tartar
- 2 cups boiling water
Directions:
- Yes, it's a bit gross, but start by removing the drain trap and giving it a good cleaning. Use a paper towel to wipe around the drain of your sink or tub, removing any bits of food or collections of hair.
- Mix together the baking soda, salt, and cream of tartar in a small container. The salt and baking soda work together to help scour pipes and break up buildup, while the cream of tartar naturally cleans metals. Shake the mixture and sprinkle half down the clogged drain.
- Pour in the boiling water and let the drain buster work its magic for about an hour. Then rinse with cool water. You should notice a difference in your drainage.
- If the drain still is still clogged, get serious by pouring one cup baking soda down the drain followed with one cup vinegar. The two create a fizzing reaction, which will attack nasty obstructions. Allow the baking soda and vinegar to work overnight, and then pour two cups boiling water down the drain.
- Still not draining? Don old duds, fill the sink or tub halfway with warm water, and grab your plunger. Yes, it's also gross, but giving your sink or tub a plunging should clear that clogged drain.
- Maintain your free-flowing pipes by using the homemade drain cleaner once a week.
Keep the rest of your place nice and clean with these natural cleaning solutions.

8 Vitamin C-Infused Products That Will Actually Improve Your Skin
In case you missed it, vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid) is everywhere right now - and for good reason. This buzzy superhero of an ingredient can do marvelous things for your skin, and scientists are getting better every day when it comes to creating stable, potent formulations. We'll share some of the best on the market in a sec, including all-star serums, a reparative peel, brightening oil, and a dark-circle perfector that covers while it works. First, though, let's dig into why vitamin C belongs on your beauty shelf.
"L-ascorbic acid is the only vitamin C that has age control benefits," noted Dr. David J. Goldberg, a nationally recognized cosmetic dermatologist. "Vitamin C ester provides antioxidant benefits, but not the collagen deposition and other anti-aging benefits of L-ascorbic acid. As an antioxidant, it provides protection from free radicals, helps to minimizes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and brightens and promotes an even skin tone."
Dr. Goldberg said that vitamin C is safe for all skin types and all ages, and that with consistent usage, "you will start to see brighter skin in as little as one week" and "visible reduction in fine lines and wrinkles in a few weeks to a few months."

This Is How Oprah Transforms Scrambled Eggs Into a "Sexy Breakfast"
Oprah Winfrey stopped by The Dr. Oz Show to share recipes from her cookbook Food, Health, and Happiness, including what she calls her "sexy breakfast." "I don't even know if you want to call this a recipe," Oprah said of the breakfast, which is scrambled eggs with salsa. But the real secret is in the heat of the homemade salsa - "lots of jalapeños in there," Oprah said, explaining that the recipe comes from Eduardo, "one of the guys that helps me at my house." The other key to perfect scrambled eggs, according to Oprah? Temperature - always serve them hot. "The thing about anyone who is a real cook . . . don't you want people to come to the table when the food is hot?" she asked Dr. Oz.
In addition to her cookbook, Oprah is celebrating her 42-pound weight loss since joining Weight Watchers in the Summer of 2015. Get a sneak peek of Oprah's appearance on The Dr. Oz Show, and allow her breakfast to inspire your next scrambled eggs recipe.

6 Reasons Dr. Vincent Is Without a Doubt the Leader on American Horror Story
This week's emotionally scarring episode of American Horror Story gave us more information than ever about Kai's crazy clown cult. Not only did we hone in on all the identities of the masked murderers, but we even got some insight into their little gatherings and their inside game. While it's clear we still don't know exactly why they're trying to incite so much fear in the community (is it just to get Kai elected and that's it?), there is one thing that, to me, seems abundantly clear: I don't think Kai's running the cult at all. I think it's Ally's psychiatrist, Dr. Rudy Vincent. And I've got plenty of reasons to help explain why.
1. He's Kai and Winter's Big Brother
When Kai finally admits his actual backstory to Beverly, he makes a shocking revelation: he and Winter have an older brother, and it's you-know-who. When you consider the hierarchical structure of the family, it makes sense that the oldest brother would be running the whole operation. Kai may seem like he's running the show, but I doubt he'd undermine his big brother if the two disagreed on something.
2. It Was His Idea to Hide Their Parents' Bodies
Really, this whole thing started because of Rudy. Kai calls his brother after his parents' whole murder-suicide situation, and it's Rudy's decision not to tell the cops. It's Rudy's decision to turn their bedroom into a tomb and Rudy's decision to keep them locked away forever. And Kai's listening to him. It makes much more sense to say that their dynamic didn't shift after that. So Kai has taken on the biggest responsibilities, but Rudy's the one who has final say on everything.
3. Kai Dresses Up With the Other Cult Members
When it comes to a boss of an evil underground organization, he doesn't get in on the action. Consider another famous cult leader: Charles Manson (who, by the way, is one of Evan Peters's characters in an upcoming episode). Charles Manson didn't really get his hands dirty. He called the shots, and all of his underlings carried out his orders. Even his most infamous crime, the murder of Sharon Tate, was carried out by his loyal followers. So why does Kai dress up with the rest of his clown clan? Maybe it's because Vincent is the real boss, commanding the operation from the safety of his scary office. It's like Kai is the district manager but Rudy's the president of the whole damn thing.
4. It Explains How the Cult Knows So Much About Ally
From the very start, the clowns seem to be very in the know when it comes to Ally's phobias. I mean, even the fact that the cult dresses up as clowns seems like something geared toward Ally's specific brand of madness. Then there are specific aspects of the clowns: consider the fact that Beverly's clown head is covered in holes, which can be linked to Ally's rampant trypophobia. The only way they'd have all this information is if Rudy is feeding it to them.
5. It Explains Why Ally Seems to Be a Target
Along the same lines, how would the cult know to focus on Ally in the first place? Why would it be so obsessed with her if there wasn't some sort of underlying motive? Clearly, Dr. Vincent has seen something in her that makes him want her. It's definitely not abundantly clear just yet, but he has to have a reason. Ally's involvement reveals Dr. Vincent two-fold: it explains why Ally is a target and why the cult is attuned to all her phobias. We just need to figure out why.
6. That Button Scene Makes So Much More Sense Now
We had an inkling that Dr. Vincent was evil pretty early on. During the third episode, he has a phone session with Ally. While they speak, he plays with five buttons that bear smiley faces. While they don't precisely match the real-life clowns (not in appearance or number), it still seems like a pretty glaring indicator of his guilt. The way he rearranges the separate buttons makes it seem like he's the true puppet master.
What do you think? Is our brain-fixer the mastermind behind this whole operation? Hopefully, all will be revealed in the episodes to come.
American Horror Story: Cult Reveals Kai's Backstory - And It's F*cked Up
The latest episode of American Horror Story: Cult offers up some big answers that we've all been speculating about so far this season, like just who exactly is part of Kai's cult and how he came to be as screwed up as he is.
After the cult dispatches with R.J. via a nail gun - guess that's what you get for having sympathy for a gimp - Kai tries his little pinky trick on Beverly, but she's having none of his BS. She wants to know why she sees photos of his family on the walls of his house. Are his parents "on a Mormon mission to Mars or did [he] kill them too?"
Turns out he didn't kill them . . . they killed themselves. In front of him. Which explains a lot.
Flash back to 2014. Kai's lawyer father spins out his Harley and becomes confined to a wheelchair, which leaves him bitter, abusive, and violent. After berating Kai for his worthless degree in religious studies (we knew he didn't double-major in poli-sci and feminist studies), his father throws his dinner across the kitchen because Kai's mother makes what he thinks are spicy tacos. His father then accuses his mom of having an affair.
During the ensuing after-dinner fight, mom shoots dad (gut shot, which is sure to take a while to kill him) and then shoots herself in the head. Kai calls his brother to help him figure out what to do, and it turns out his older brother is none other than . . . Dr. Rudy Vincent, which is obviously a pseudonym. Kai calls him "Vin," so we're assuming the good doctor's name is actually Vincent Anderson.
We knew Dr. Vincent had to be involved somehow, but we didn't see this twist coming. Also, Winter is confirmed as being the third Anderson sibling, the youngest.
Before Winter comes home from college, Kai and Vinny put their parents' bodies in their bed, cover them with lye to help with decomposition and odor, and lock the bedroom . . . which is super creepy and screwed up. But what's even worse is when Kai tells Winter and lets her in to see the bodies, he is also shown talking to his mother the way one would at a gravesite. Except that she's a rotted corpse and he's holding her hand, promising her that he's going to be someone someday.
Somewhere even Norman Bates is like, "Dude."
PSA: Fireball Gummy Bears Exist, and You Can Buy Them Online!
If swearing off all nonalcoholic gummy bears is wrong, then we don't want to be right. The Fire Bears ($10+), aka gummy bears made with everyone's favorite cinnamon whiskey, Fireball, prove that the trend of infusing gummy candy with alcohol isn't going anywhere any time soon, and we're on board. First came Rosé wine gummy bears, then tequila-infused gummy bears, and now this! There's officially a gummy for every type of alcohol preference, and fans of Fireball are sure to love these adorable - and potent - sweets.
You can buy Fire Bears online from Etsy user Vine Gelee, who ships within the US and can customize your order for a bachelor party, birthday, or any other special occasion. A four-ounce bag costs $10, while an eight-ounce bag is $16, and the largest size (16 ounces) costs $22. Reviewers have nothing but good things to say about the alcoholic gummies, and the product has a five-star rating. One customer wrote, "I really like that these bears look like they were made with care and not just thrown together, and before I tasted them I could smell the potency (thank you! I was scared they might be weak). I think these will be great for my party."
There are also Fireball gummy bears called Fire Cubs from Etsy user Irish Confectionery Co, but they're currently sold out. That Etsy shop has a backup option in the form of Rummy Bears, which you can order in a variety of flavors like cherry, grape, lime, and watermelon. It's safe to say we have no shortage of alcoholic gummy bears available to try, and we'd take eating candy over taking shots any day. Cheers to that!
American Horror Story: All You Need to Know About Gimps (It Went There)
American Horror Story takes a couple different left turns in its most recent episode, "Holes." Not only do viewers finally know for sure who is in Kai's cult (and what his crazy backstory is), but the cult takes things to a whole new level when it goes after anchor Bob Thompson . . . and gets a little more than it bargained for when it finds out what he's hiding in his attic.
Turns out Bob isn't only into young on-camera talent. He's also into a little BDSM (bondage, dominance, sadism, and masochism), which he takes part in with the help of an unknown gimp.
For those of you who aren't familiar, a gimp refers to someone whose sexual fetish is to dress in a rubber mask or bodysuit and then be restrained and dominated. While once used as a slang term, the Dictionary has now included it to mean "a sexual fetishist who likes to be dominated and who dresses in a leather or rubber bodysuit with mask, zips, and chains." Bob's particular gimp appears to enjoy being suspended by giant hooks running through his skin . . . and Bob weirdly wears latex gloves as part of this ritual but then licks the blood off of them. That cannot be sanitary.
When the cult members come upon Bob's little friend hanging in the attic, cameraman R.J. suggests they just cut him down and let him go, since the gimp hasn't seen or heard them yet due to his mask. But Kai never misses an opportunity for murder, so he stabs the gimp, which sends the man writhing in pain enough to rip out all the giant hooks as he tumbles to the ground.
Later, for deigning to suggest that they let the gimp go, R.J. is killed by taking a nail to the head a dozen times. The cult members take turns, because it's nice to share.
This isn't the first time a gimp of sorts has made an appearance on American Horror Story. Last time it was Evan Peters wearing the rubber suit (though not really). In "Murder House," Rubber Man is one of the demons haunting the Harmons. In fact, he impregnates Vivien, who has sex with him, thinking it's her husband, Ben.
We don't expect the gimp in Cult to play much of a role. After all, he's dead, plus he's not even credited for the episode, so the poor gimp looks to go bloodily into that goodnight as a nameless one-off . . . unless it's someone we already know?
Wow, American Horror Story Had Too Many F*cked-Up Moments to Count This Week
Are you OK? Is everyone OK? We know the answer is probably no, because this week's episode of American Horror Story really did a number. In what must be one of the most f*cked-up episodes to date, we meet a "gimp" who's hanging on some hooks in an attic, watch a centipede crawl out of Ally's neck, and watch the group of clowns plunge a bunch of nails into a poor guy's head. And that's just the tip of the emotionally scarring iceberg. Quite frankly, it all makes Emma Roberts's brutal on-air stabbing look like child's play. If you can bear it, let's all rehash the most disturbing moments from this week's episode together. Maybe we can process it as a group and get some closure.
This Is the Stupidest Mistake You Can Make at Trader Joe's
It's hard to go wrong at Trader Joe's with so many solid and affordable options, but there is one mistake you could be making without even realizing it. If you're not asking to try products before you buy them, you could end up wasting a lot of money on groceries in the long run. Yep, that's right - Trader Joe's has a "try before you buy" policy! In addition to its generous return policy, the store has a policy that allows customers to try just about anything that they're unsure about buying. This includes snacks, produce, and ready-made foods like salads, sushi, and cheese.
I spoke to an employee at my local store and he confirmed that the only foods not included are raw or frozen foods (that require cooking) and alcohol (of course). This is not to say that you should be the annoying person who asks to try 20 things every time you shop there, but it means you should totally ask an employee to open up any new Trader Joe's products you're eyeing, like canned matcha tea or sweet sriracha bacon jerky. It's not likely that your bill will be superhigh anyway, but this is another way to save money at Trader Joe's, and honestly, it's just another reason to love the store.
