The Walls Are Closing In on Net Neutrality - Here's What You Can Do

The biggest day in the history of the internet is upon is - and unfortunately, it's not necessarily a positive one. On Dec. 14, the FCC will be voting on whether or not to keep net neutrality; in simpler terms, it'll be deciding if access to the entire internet should remain free and open or if it'll let service providers act as gatekeepers to certain sites. Without net neutrality, Americans could face tiered access that would prioritize certain sites over others, requiring routine payments in order to visit our most commonly used sites.

Ultimately, a repeal of net neutrality is expected due to the party line split among commissioners. Republicans support the repeal and hold three commissioner seats, while Democrats, who hope to preserve net neutrality, only hold two seats. And it's worth noting that one of the major reasons Republicans are aiming to repeal open access to the Internet is to censor what people can see, while at the same time letting companies offer more robust internet services. The crusade for a more "company first" internet has been led by Ajit Pai, President Donald Trump's pick for FCC chairman, who - unsurprisingly - is a former lawyer for Verizon.

Only Republicans in power are in support of these measures, and it's a decision that is insanely unpopular among Americans - regardless of their party affiliation. In a recent survey of voters by the University of Maryland's Program for Public Consultation, 83 percent of Americans support net neutrality and keeping internet access as is - and only one in five Republicans surveyed prefers a repeal. Experts like former Secretary of Labor Robert Reich warn that a repeal will make internet more expensive, stifle innovation, and give control of everything from news to social media to companies.

Rightfully, many tech figures are blasting the measure. Websites from Reddit to Etsy have created digital protests to raise awareness of the issue and how it will affect internet users. Similarly, major companies like Facebook and Google have reiterated that the systems in place "are working well" and that amending access isn't necessary.

In Congress, several unexpected individuals are standing up to the FCC's plan. For example, conservative Republican Representative Mike Coffman of Colorado hopes to have the vote delayed after expressing concern that ending net neutrality could have "significant unanticipated negative consequences." Twenty-eight senators have pushed for a vote delay as well in light of news that the FCC had received millions of comments opposing net neutrality from bots. Opposition coming from these representatives is quite major given that, collectively, Congress has received $101 million in donations from internet service providers. This understandably muddies the waters of government intention considering figures like Senator John McCain alone received over $2.5 million in contributions from the telecoms industry.

How can you fight back on this eve of potential major internet losses? There are more than just a few ways. The most pressing piece of action is to call your member of Congress to express support. You can also join online protests that are backed by internet freedom nonprofits like Fight For the Future. You can contact the FCC to voice your concerns and sign petitions to ensure that the internet will remain unregulated. For those in Washington DC, protests are taking place Dec. 13 and Dec. 14 at the FCC, while, in other areas, select protests have been planned. At the least, you can share your beliefs and thoughts on net neutrality online: change your social media avatars, post banners to your website, and tweet your thoughts.

The FCC's decision on Dec. 14 will be a major milestone in internet history that, for better or worse, could continue if the ruling is taken to court. Regardless, this is a major moment to watch as it could drastically reshape your internet world.

30+ Cuba Travel Tips You Need to Know Before You Go

I had barely put down my fork after finishing a Cuban meal prepared in a privately owned restaurant called a paladar when someone grabbed my hand and pulled me to my feet. Live music accompanied our meal, and turning down an impromptu salsa dance just isn't acceptable - so dance I did.

Light-footed from sips of Havana Club rum and ready to try out the moves I learned at a lesson earlier in the week, I couldn't help but smile at my situation. Traveling to Cuba as an American means a lot of things. It means navigating a rather complicated system of rules, restrictions, and politics. It means dealing with the reality of a president who is currently making it harder by the day to experience all this country - just 90 miles off the United States coast - has to offer. It means understanding and respecting the harsher realities of what Cubans and Cuban-Americans have gone through and are still going through - something tourists should be aware of.

I was able to travel to Cuba with Backroads, an active travel company that made a biking trip through the country launching in January 2017 - full of logistical complications and red tape - look like a breeze and seem like a complete dream.

The trip began in Havana, a city with crumbling historical homes juxtaposed beside colorful structures and shiny, newly reconstructed buildings. We biked daily through towns along the northern coast, by farmland, over hills, and past parts of lush jungle and forest. Experiencing a trip like this, in the open air rather than closed up in a tour bus or car, was like nothing else I've ever done. After eight days, a thousand answers and even more questions, new friendships with Cubans, and yes, a few cigars and sips of Cuban coffee and rum, I learned a thing or two about a place that is in some ways a bit of a mystery to many Americans, due in large part to the embargo and the nature of US-Cuba relations for the past 50+ years.

These takeaways and tips will help you plan your Cuban trip and will hopefully help make your time on this Caribbean island as wonderful and informational as my own experience. I'm already counting down the days until I can return.

Facebook's Newest Feature Is All About Getting to Know Your Friends Better

Facebook constantly tests and launches new functions across the massive platform on what feels like a near-daily basis. Despite that fact, it's not all that common that the social media network adds a new function directly into our personal profiles. But on Dec. 5, that's exactly what Facebook did with its newest feature - and it's one that has the most social additions to the platform in years.

Did You Know seeks to let users share thoughtful, personal details with their friends according to prompts that are raised in the app and on Facebook.com. Questions about preferred superpowers, guilty pleasures, hidden talents, and secret loyalties are interwoven with more lighthearted questions about what it is one might do if they were to win the lottery. The feature not only populates in the News Feed, but it also shows up in a brand-new box below the photos on a user's profile - and while you can of course choose to opt out of having these shared with your friends, the idea is to help you get to know your social friends a little better.

The feature is live now and easy to access using your mobile phone or browser. Just click into your personal profile, and then tap on the Did You Know section - from there, you'll be able to tap through the questions that are available to you at this stage. You can also access Did You Know by clicking the "Try It" button on a friend's post - and of course, you can use those funky new backgrounds we're all loving so much to spice up the post when you set it to go live.

So, what are you waiting for? Head on over to Facebook and get answering those questions, and while you're at it, be sure to update your Facebook profile anyway - it's probably been far too long since you did that.

You Can Now Share a WiFi Password in iOS 11 in 1 Quick and Easy Step

Most people know that the true test of friendship isn't texting someone every day, or being the first one at the bar for their happy hour - it's actually all about feeling comfortable enough to ask for the WiFi password. Think about it: it means you'll be over enough times to hop on the WiFi and that you're not just trying to check Facebook to meet up with more interesting people. But with iOS 11, asking for WiFi will be easier than ever and won't require someone to dig up the piece of paper where they wrote their password in the first place. So we can kiss that friendship test goodbye, but say hello to not sucking up quite so much data when we're out and about in the world.

In iOS 11, as long as you and your friend already have each other in your contacts and put your iPhone, iPad, or Mac near each other, you can share the WiFi password without needing to divulge what it is. Whoever is already on the WiFi network will receive a notification that another person is trying to join. If that person is your friend or someone you know, you can approve the request and they'll be put on the network. This works for personal cases, as well as at big offices (I tried it at the POPSUGAR office in San Francisco, and it went pretty smoothly.)

If you're still confused, not to worry; just look at ahead at how to use it and what the WiFi sharing feature looks like. After that, you can try the other useful updates on iOS 11 like new screenshotting tools and a one-handed keyboard.

A Comprehensive Guide to Every Gorgeous Braid From Pinterest

Grab your teasing combs and your dry shampoo - Braid 101 is in session. There are so many different plaits out there, and we admit we can only do half of them. Browsing our Instagram feeds, we often run into two emotions: total braid envy and plait perplexity.

Seriously, just looking at some of these styles makes our brains hurt (over then under, or under then over?). It can be as simple as a basic dutch version or as complex as a five-strand plait. No wonder "braids" is one of the top searched topics on the Internet. Everyone wants to master the new trendy style before a new one is invented. So, we've broken down every plait (with gorgeous real-girl pictures and tutorials) to inspire you to go back to beauty school.

Glitter Eyeliner Is the Prettiest Way to Wear Sparkle For the Holidays

So, you've mastered the smoky eye, the winged liner, and a seductive red lip . . . unfortunately, by holiday party season, so has everyone else. If you're looking for a way to stand out this year, you're going to need a secret weapon. And for 2016, the technique you should have in your arsenal is glitter eyeliner.

Various takes on sparkly and sophisticated glitter eyeliner are sweeping across social media, dazzling Instagram beauty gurus. Even the experts are taking notice. According to Make Up For Ever's Executive Director of Education and Artistry Patrick Eichler, it's a must-try style for Winter. "The holiday season is all about shimmer, so there's no better time to turn up the sparkle in your makeup."

One of the best things about this technique is the various ways it can be customized, making it a pretty pick for less experienced gals and makeup maestros alike. For a more dramatic finish, layer the glitter liner just above a black base, add it to a smoky eye, or show off your skills with a wing worthy of Cleopatra herself.

For those seeking a more subdued style, Eichler recommends Make Up For Ever's Aqua Liners ($23), especially those with diamond finishes: "[These products] give a beautiful metallic sparkle, require no mixing, and are easy to apply. Perfect for the glitter 'newbie.'"

The finished effect can also vary due to the product chosen. Those who want a bit more sparkle can mix a glitter shadow or powder - Eichler suggests Make Up For Ever Diamond Powder ($25) - with a liquid liner or adhesive like Make Up For Ever's Aqua Seal ($21). If you really want to gleam, try the same method with loose glitter, which comes in a variety of sizes. Eichler notes that depending on whether you choose small flecks or larger chunks, "the looks [will be] different, from fairy-dust sparkle to disco-ball reflective."

Exactly How a Pro Ballerina Does Her Stage Makeup For The Nutcracker

Ballerinas really do it all. They're artists. They're athletes. But did you also know they double as makeup artists? Thanks to years of recitals and shows, professional dancers are absolute experts when it comes to doing a full, glam stage face. While there are in-house makeup artists at ballet companies, the hectic backstage environment, multiple performances, and sheer number of company members make it impossible for everyone to get their makeup done. Often, beauty tips get passed down from more seasoned dancers to ones just starting their careers in the corps.

Lauren Lovette, principal dancer at the New York City Ballet since 2015, says she learned both from dancers before her and NYCB's makeup artist, Karla Elie. "We have the option to get our makeup done, but I like doing it myself, even for big roles," she told POPSUGAR. "I love to take my time. There's something that prepares me for the show when I'm doing it myself. I just get in a good rhythm. It's very meditative."

Lauren has a starring role as the Sugarplum Fairy in holiday favorite The Nutcracker. She's a beloved character, and her look is pretty, pink, and glamorous - everything you imagine a prima ballerina to look like. "Sugarplum Fairy [is] all goodness, and kindness, and sweetness, so you reflect that all in the makeup," Lauren said.

We met Lauren ahead of the season's premiere to have her show us the tricks of the trade. Learn how she gets her stage beauty look step by step, ahead.

Ruby Rose Just Shared a Photo of Her Acne For an Infuriating Reason

When we always see actresses like Ruby Rose in glossy campaigns or with a full face of makeup on the red carpet, it's so easy to look at her and think, "she's so perfect." Today, she lifted a veil on that perfection to take a stand against media scrutiny of both her face and body.

On her Instagram stories, she took a photo of her bare face breaking out. "This acne belongs to me, not them, and you are welcome to it. I never thought I'd see the day I'd leave my beautiful country balling [sic] my eyes out...when I was so excited to come home," she said. Ruby was in her native Australia for the premiere of her movie Pitch Perfect 3.

With a close-up selfie, she continued, "Yeah it sucks...for me, I don't see how it's bothering so many others? But I'm a human. It happens..one side of my face is clear and the other is a mess." Over on Twitter she elaborated, "I posted my skin because it's mine to post and not theirs to sell. I took my power back."

She attributed her breakouts to bacteria from phones when she did interviews, hotel pillow cases, and spikes in cortisol from stress. It's infuriating that she feels the need to explain her skin at all, but what followed was especially maddening.

In a series of images from the movie premiere, Ruby questions media outlets' agendas. "They run only one photo to fit their narrative," she wrote. "Why circulate this...when you can UP the contrast and definition of a rare photo where I was probably taking it in...and change the narrative to sell papers." The photo in question shows Ruby looking downward, with her skin texture more prominent.

Ruby then tackled another issue at hand: accusations that she is anorexic. With photos that showed her spine, she explained "This is always my back. I have a titled posterior...and spinal curvature from a bad car accident." She then published some thoughts to elaborate on her disappointment with what she called "The Daily Fail" (aka The Daily Mail), which apparently "ruined a beautiful experience" for her with eight negative stories on her image.

"They don't care that they are using a term like anorexia as if it ISN'T A SERIOUS AND DEADLY ILLNESS," she wrote, calling out the publication for not being more responsible with their coverage. "The damage isn't done to me . . . There is no blood on my hands here but I'd have felt responsible if I'd left it, as you know I'm outspoken about health, mental, and physical. So, from the bottom of my heart I am sorry if those stories triggered anything and anyone." In the wake of all this criticism, Ruby shut off her Instagram comments.

It's not easy to put your vulnerabilities on display, especially when you're held to Hollywood standards of beauty. We applaud Ruby for taking this unfortunate experience and turning it into an opportunity to make people more accountable for the way they consume celebrity images.

Essie's Latest Nail Polish Collection Was Made For Practicing Your Princess Wave

A fresh manicure can take your mood from zero to 100, but the latest nail polish colors from Essie will make you feel like a straight-up princess.

The brand is releasing six new Gel Couture shades ($12), all inspired by romance and royalty. Its enchanted new lineup features creamy, opaque hues that deliver salon-quality results at home. Just apply two coats of polish, finish with the Gel Couture top coat, and - voilà! - you'll have a magical, long-lasting mani.

While we love the longevity of Gel Couture polishes, the stunning colors are what have us hyped as hell. You can take a cue from Kate Middleton, Queen Elizabeth II, and Duchess-to-Be Meghan Markle and opt for a classic pink, like Matter of Fiction. But if you're fond of Cinderella's ballgown blue, metallics, and vampy hues, you'll also find a color in the new range that fits you like a crown.

Rita Remark, Essie's global lead educator, told us via email that she's personally smitten with Good Knight (blackened plum) and Princess Charming (neutral mauve-pink). "With another royal wedding around the corner, the timing [of this new collection] couldn't be more charmed!" she added. And Rita's right - we could totally see Meghan rocking a shade similar to Princess Charming down the aisle next Spring.

Luckily, you don't have to be an actual princess to get in on the magic. The entire collection is available to snag now on Amazon. Ahead, you can get a better look at each shade and see them swatched on different complexions. In the meantime, we'll be here practicing our royal waves before our next manicures.

Have You Noticed the 1 Beauty Habit Meghan Markle Cannot Break?

Image Source: Getty / Chris Jackson

Fact: Meghan Markle's hair is the unsung hero of 2017. Whether we're basking in the glory of her natural, curly strands or obsessing over the idea she might share hair secrets with future sister-in-law Kate Middleton, we're pretty much obsessed with Meghan's mane. But have you noticed the one beauty habit that our future American duchess just cannot break?

According to Good Housekeeping, Meghan is always touching her hair. If we had Meghan's chic, relaxed waves, we'd probably be touching our strands all the time, too. But there's a deeper significance to this habit - and it's totally relatable.

Image Source: Getty / Chris Jackson

As body-language expert Blanca Cobb told the site, "Some people touch their hair, play with their fingernails, or rub their arms, as a way to psychologically and physiologically calm themselves when they're feeling anxious, uncomfortable, or stressed."

What differentiates Meghan's comforting gesture from a thoughtless habit, Cobb said, is that she's doing it during big life events - such as the announcement of her engagement and first official appearance with Prince Harry in Nottingham. According to Cobb, "In this situation, Meghan's hair touch is a soothing gesture. Her head is also tilted down slightly. Sometimes when you feel too much attention you might tuck your chin down as a way to shield yourself."

It doesn't hurt that when Meghan strokes her strands, it gives us a crazy-amazing view of her three-stone engagement ring.

7 Benefits of Breastfeeding You Might Want to Consider

Almost as soon as a woman becomes pregnant, the conversation about breastfeeding begins. It's commonly stated that "breast is best," but what does that actually mean, and who is it best for?

Understandably, there have been numerous studies and much research done about breastfeeding and its many benefits. Regardless if a woman chooses to nurse her baby (at POPSUGAR, we're supporters of "fed is best" and urge you to make the best choice for you and your baby), there are a lot of advantages to breastfeeding that should be considered. Below are just seven pros for baby and mom.

  1. Breast milk provides perfectly balanced meals. The human body can truly do some amazing things, and breast milk is pretty spectacular. The milk is specially tailored to an infant's needs, with the perfect blend of nutrition to ensure that baby grows big and strong.
  2. It can also provide a natural defense against illnesses. Some studies have shown that breast milk will contain nutrients and antibodies that will help the baby defend against common childhood illnesses. This is especially important since medicines are very restricted for babies of a young age.
  3. Nursing might lower the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). One of the scariest parts of having an infant is the risk of SIDS. A study found that nursing can reduce the risk of SIDS around 50 percent, and recommends that parents nurse at least up until six months old.
  1. Breastfeeding can reduce the risk of asthma. Asthma is a notoriously hard condition to live with. Thankfully, it was recently found that babies who carry the genetic marker for asthma could be protected by breastfeeding .
  2. Nursing saves an astounding amount of money. Since the mom's body is creating the milk, it's no wonder that it is an extreme cost-saving measure. Overall, a minimum of $3.6 billion would be saved if breastfeeding participants were raised to the Surgeon General's recommended numbers, roughly 70 to 75 percent of newborns.
  3. Breastfeeding is probably the greenest option. Breastfeeding doesn't require any packaging or bottles, making it more environmentally beneficial. For every 1 million formula-fed babies, 150 million formula containers are consumed, many of which end up in a landfill.
  4. Producing breast milk is said to burn calories. After giving birth, it can be difficult to get back into an exercise routine. Since breastfeeding burns 425 to 700 calories per day, many women attribute breastfeeding to returning to their pre-baby weight.

The New ColourPop x Kathleen Lights Collab Is the Prettiest One Yet

The Ordinary, the Beloved Brand That Sells $5 Skin Care, Is Coming to Sephora

Cult-favorite Canadian skincare brand The Ordinary has spent about a year disrupting the beauty biz with its cheaper-than-cheap products (we're talking as low as $5, y'all) and policy of transparency. Likewise, Sephora has spent the better half of 2017 partnering with beloved indie brands like ColourPop and Kiehl's. In short, both companies are owning the game right now, so it makes sense they would team together for total skincare domination.

As WWD reports, American hoarders of The Ordinary won't have to wait for the products to ship from Canada like we used to. Instead, we can simply add our bundles of Retinoid ($10) and Hyaluronic Acid ($7) to our Sephora online shopping carts. The line will also expand to stores in March.

This is usually the part where we write, "So you have a few months to save your money!" but of course, you don't have to when the brand totes a high-quality argan oil for just eight bucks.

A Mom Shares 8 Years of Elf on the Shelf Antics

The following post was originally featured on Jenny Cookies and was written by Jenny Keller, author of Eat More Dessert.

Buddy and Snowflake are our elves. They arrive every year the day or two after Thanksgiving and fly back and forth to the North Pole each night in December, reporting the children's behavior to Santa. Then on Christmas Eve, they fly back to the North Pole until the next year. It's a daily reminder for kids . . . "The elf is watching you . . . "

There is a part of me that is just beside myself looking forward to all the joy and excitement our elves bring to Ally and Hudson's little faces, and there's another part of me that is absolutely exhausted just thinking about it. We've had Buddy since Ally was 1 year old - 1. She is turning 9 in January. That's a lot of shelves. Is there retirement in our future? A decade of the Elf on the Shelf feels worthy of retirement.

Our elves have been a favorite holiday tradition in our home. We've done some insane things with our elves. I've stayed up late making tiny gingerbread houses or wrapping miniature gifts, but there is little more that I want in life than for my kids to grow up remembering all the fun and special things we did for them. Yep, I'm crazy.

You may be new to this tradition or just needing fresh ideas, so here's a little elf inspiration from our Keller family elves over the last eight years.

MAC Is Collaborating With Sia on Her Very Own Lipstick Shade!

Sia has never been one to embrace the spotlight. She quietly wrote hits for stars like Rihanna ("Diamonds") and Beyoncé ("Pretty Hurts") but only in recent years has become a household name in her own right. Even when she had the whole world dancing to "Chandelier" and "Cheap Thrills," she opted to cover her face on red carpets with a wig to protect her identity. That's why we'd never guess she'd be down to not only front a beauty campaign for one of the biggest brands out there but also collaborate on a product. But we're thrilled she stepped up.

Today, MAC announced the singer is the new spokeswoman for Viva Glam and will be coming out with a red lipstick named after her. The news comes just in time for Dec. 1, World AIDS Day, which is significant because 100 percent of the Viva Glam collection raises funds to fight the deadly disease. Sia joins past collaborators like Taraji P. Henson, Ariana Grande, and Rihanna in supporting the cause.

The $17 lipstick is a warm hue, and the black tube features Sia's name in red. It will hit stores on Jan. 25. Get your wallets (and wigs) ready.

Not a Drill: Dose of Colors Is Coming to Ulta Stores!

Fans of Dose of Colors cheered when the cult-favorite brand landed on Ulta.com back in June. Now, it'll be even more accessible because it's landing in select Ulta stores, starting Nov. 26. That's right - you'll be able to see, feel, and test all the goods IRL before committing to a purchase.

In case you're unfamiliar with Dose of Colors, the brand was founded in 2013 by makeup artist Anna Petrosian. Its cruelty-free and vegan products are favorites among Insta-famous beauty bloggers - you might recall back in the Summer, Desi Perkins and Katy DeGroot (aka Lustrelux) teamed up with the company to launch six products, including lipstick and highlighter.

For now, Dose of Colors will be at the Ulta locations in California, Florida, Texas, Illinois, New Jersey, New York City, and Pennsylvania. You can expect to see your favorite Matte Liquid Lipsticks ($18), as well as beloved eye shadow palettes like Hidden Treasures ($50), Marvelous Mauves ($32), and Baked Browns ($32).

Isn't it so convenient that Dose of Colors would come to Ulta right before the holidays? Tweak your wish list accordingly.

These Photos Perfectly Depict What Parenting Really Looks Like

Life's not quite as picturesque as Instagram pictures make it look. Kids don't smile when you ask them to, family rooms aren't spotless and clutter-free, and moms don't always have it all together. That's why Danielle Guenther's Best Case Scenario series of photographs speaks so well to parents. The Hoboken, NJ-based family photographer has taken to adding some real-life (though somewhat exaggerated) photos into her mix, and the results are hysterical.

"I have a regular client that I photograph, and I was over at her house," Guenther explains. "It was at the end of the session, and the mom, [who] is always a total blast, just laid down on the couch, and I [said] we should do a funny one. She has a wonderful sense of humor, [and] she was all about it! And then it just spiraled out of control in a really great way."

From that single "Parenting Is Exhausting . . ." photo, a series was born. There are currently 13 pictures in the series - including "Fully Loaded" (above) - most of which are inspired by Guenther's 5-1/2-year-old son.

"A lot of these ideas you think back to when he was a baby," she explains. "The 'Hold On a Sec . . ." photo where they're crossing the street. Mothers are always doing everything with crap all over their strollers, picking up the dry-cleaning. That's the scenario: you running errands and your husband holding up his finger - hold on a second; I've got to check the score. That's life; that's how it is!"

Guenther is not inspired by the perfection that is so prevalent on social photo sharing sites like Instagram. Rather, she's inspired by the truth that is parenting. "This is real, this is life, this is parenting. Parenting is so ugly, but there are moments that are so beautiful. Just when you think you have it under control and you're like, 'Oh, yeah, this is great. My kid's using his manners,' they slam the door in your face and they scream at you! But nothing in life is perfect."

She will continue her photojournalistic-style family portraiture, but it is these stylized photos that really motivate her these days. "I want to know what's going on before you got to the shoot. I want to know what goes on at home, behind closed doors. If you can find a funny take on life, you're ahead of the game."

Read on to see Danielle Guenther's full Best Case Scenario series.

3 Unexpected Things You Must Bring to the Delivery Room, According to a Celebrity Mom

Daphne Oz may be a nutritional author and the former cohost of The Chew, but - having been through pregnancy, labor, and delivery three times - she's also a certified celebrity mom expert. So when she says to bring something to the delivery room, we listen.

POPSUGAR recently had the chance to pick Daphne's brain about her delivery room must haves, and she had some ingenious suggestions that even her dad, the famous Dr. Mehmet Oz, would agree need to go in your hospital bag. Check them out below.

1. Primrose Oil

If there's one thing Daphne insists you bring to the hospital room, it's primrose oil capsules. "Don't forget it - you're going to be so grateful!" she exclaimed. The reason? You can puncture the capsules and use the oil for perineal massage. Daphne and her doctor swear by it for preventing vaginal tearing. Most of the lubricants used in the delivery room only make it slippery and easier for the baby to come out, but they're not moisturizing to the mother's skin. "This is super, super moisturizing and super lubricating. It's amazing!"

2. Essential Oil Diffuser

Labor is hard work, so it's not surprising that it can get hot and stinky in the delivery room, but you can fix that with a diffuser. Daphne recommends filling it with "an essential oil like eucalyptus because it's really clean smelling." But you can tailor the essential oil you pick to your individual needs; for example, if labor has you stressed out, lavender can help calm and relax you.

3. Tempting Snacks

This one might seem a bit odd, but Daphne jokes that snacks aren't just great for fueling you up throughout labor; they're also the perfect way to entice the nurses into your room. "If the room smells beautiful and you have snacks, all the nurses will come and check on you all the time and you'll get the best care possible," she explains.

This Parent Found a Genius Way to Break Her Toddler's TV Addiction - and You Won't Believe What Happened Next

Exhausted parent and Reddit user Iwanttosleep8hours learned the hard way how quickly permitting your toddler to watch an episode of their favorite show in the morning can spiral into a full-on television addiction. In a now-viral post, the user candidly wrote, "I'm really embarrassed to admit this but my toddler became a tv addict. It started with him waking at 4-4:30 every morning and it became the only way he would stay quiet." Soon, this parent's 2-year-old son was asking for TV constantly and having meltdowns when he was denied it.

This parent swore over and over that tomorrow would be the day they cut out TV, but, as any desperate and sleep-deprived parent understands, you'll do just about anything to keep your child entertained when he wakes up hours before dawn. Recently, however, this genius parent was able to break the toddler's TV addiction - and stumbled upon the solution by accident:

The other morning I couldn't find the remote, we looked for 10 minutes until my son happily gave up and decided to eat breakfast. I had time for 5 minutes peace and then we went and hung out on his room. The next day I decided to hide it again. We looked for it but he soon gave up again without being upset. This morning was day 3 and tv wasn't the first thing on his mind amazingly.

The toddler is coping surprisingly well without TV; in fact, he's actually behaving even better than before! The user says he's been curious and content, exploring his surroundings and playing with his toys and pets. And to top it off, this parent says that he just slept until 7 a.m. for the first time ever. Wow!

Not only are we blown away by how simple yet genius Reddit user Iwanttosleep8hours's tip is, but we're giddy about its potential for helping to break other bad toddler addictions; time to get rid of bottles? Hide them! Want to break a pacifier habit? Hide the pacifier! The list goes on.

Infuriated by His Daughter's Sexist School Activities, This Dad Wrote a Letter About "Gender Lines"

A dad in New South Wales, Australia, made sure his opinion was heard after his daughter told him about the sexism she experienced at school. The dad, Stephen Callaghan, wrote a letter to his daughter Ruby's school after she explained the gender-specific activities planned as a celebration for her year-six graduation. The girls were scheduled to get their hair and makeup done in the school library, and the boys were to be sent on a trip to Bunnings, a hardware-store chain. Stephen didn't find it very appropriate to divide the celebratory activities in such a clear way - who's assuming all the girls want hair and makeup done and wouldn't prefer to go to the store?

In a letter to the principal that Stephen shared on Twitter, he wrote, "When Ruby left for school yesterday it was 2017, but when she returned home in the afternoon she was from 1968." After explaining the activities Ruby informed him about, he continued to sarcastically ask, "Are you able to search the school buildings for a space-time continuum? Perhaps there is a faulty Flux Capacitor hidden away in the girls toilet block?" referencing Back to the Future. In a separate tweet, Stephen mentioned his daughter wants to be an engineer and doesn't "give a rat's arse about make-up."

Many people responding to the tweets seem to have had similar experiences with their kids. Here's hoping the dad's letter doesn't go unanswered.

Nothing says "Happy Christmas" like a Harry Potter marathon - or a trip to Hogwarts itself. This year, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is celebrating the holidays like never before, with seasonal decorations, special merchandise, and even a nighttime projection show on the castle.

Running Nov. 24, 2017 through Jan. 7, 2018, the "Christmas in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter" experience is spreading through both the Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley sections of the park.

"The quaint town of Hogsmeade village shines brightly with decor uniquely themed to each of the individual storefronts," says Universal. "As night falls on Hogsmeade village, the 'Magic of Christmas at Hogwarts Castle' will illuminate Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry with colorful imagery and impressive dimensional animations that dance across Hogwarts castle in tandem to a musical arrangement from the Harry Potter movies."

Park-goers can also stop by to watch the a cappella Frog Choir, which will be performing new seasonal songs. There will even be holiday-themed food, and of course, you have to stop by the Three Broomsticks or the Leaky Cauldron for a cup of warm Butterbeer.

The festivities have already begun so, naturally, fans have been sharing Instagram photos that will make you wish you could Apparate to Harry Potter World right this very minute. Read on to see pictures!

This Gender Reveal Photo Shoot Is What Disney Dreams Are Made Of

For soon-to-be parents Megan and Ryan, one of their first real loves was Disney. After getting married, the fun-loving couple even opted for their photographer to capture a playful honeymoon shoot at Epcot. When the pair found out that they were expecting, it almost felt fateful that their beloved wedding photographer already had a trip planned to Florida and they immediately knew that they wanted to plan a gender reveal session at Disney World.

The only problem with this exciting idea was that at Megan's most recent doctor's appointment, the doctor was unable to say the baby's gender with complete certainty. Although he suspected it was a girl, Megan wouldn't be able to find out for sure until the day after Dawn Browne's, of Degrees North Images, flight back to Texas.

To play it safe, they decided to take photos with both baby boy and girl props in order to be prepared for either gender. They spent the afternoon at Disney's boardwalk so they could have room away from all of the pedestrians while still taking advantage of colorful backdrops. When it was confirmed that the expecting parents were having a baby girl, nobody was more thrilled than Ryan! "Our dad to be was so excited (he would only take pictures with the little girl shoes)," Browne told POPSUGAR. "Now we are all looking forward to future photo shoots with the newest Disney princess!"
