Where Will Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Honeymoon? We Have a Few Ideas
The world is as captivated with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's romance as they were with Prince William and Kate Middleton's love story. We've followed every milestone of the twosome's relationship since their first official outing as a couple at the Invictus Games last year, and the pair has only gotten more serious since then. So far we've enjoyed key events like their sweet engagement announcement, their first Christmas with the Queen, and their first outing on official royal business.
Ever since the couple set the date for their upcoming royal nuptials on May 19, though, it seems like the whole world has been wondering the same question: where the newlyweds will be honeymooning once the festivities are done?
Given Prince Harry's love of warm climates, it's only natural that speculation is leading us all to believe they'll choose somewhere hot. The fact they fell in love while on holiday in Botswana means the country has a special place in their hearts, and they've also had an open invitation from the Prime Minister of Antigua to spend their honeymoon on the Caribbean island. If the insider reports are true, there's also a chance we may just see Harry and Megan follow William and Kate's example, with a honeymoon in the Seychelles. According to a source, Us Weekly reports that we won't have to wait too much longer to hear where they plan to jet off after the wedding.
"At the moment nothing has been booked, but expect a decision to be made within a month," the source revealed, adding that certain security measures will be put in place once Harry and Meghan pick a destination. "Once the decision has been made, they will have a security team fly out to do reconnaissance and the info will be confidential. Should anything get out they would feel the trip's compromised and pick a new destination."
The source noted that the royal couple definitely has somewhere "hot and sunny" in mind for their two week getaway. Regardless of where they end up, we have a feeling they won't be flying economy for this trip!
Why Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Baby Plans Might Be on Hold For a While
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle might not have walked down the aisle yet, but already the subject of having kids has come up for the couple a few times. During a joint December interview with the BBC, Harry opened up about starting a family with his future bride after proposing to the Suits star back in November. When asked by reporter Mishal Husain about whether he and Meghan are planning on having kids anytime soon, Harry replied, "Not yet, no, but I think eventually, one step at a time, and we'll start a family in the near future."
Now it seems the "near future" might be a bit further down the road than some would have assumed. "There is absolutely no pressure on the couple to have children at all," a source from inside the palace told Us Weekly. "Should they not want any, that would be fine. However, both are keen to start a family in the future, but don't expect anything immediately."
According to the insider, Harry and Meghan have their sights set on conquering goals as husband and wife first before adding children into the mix. "There is so much they want to do as a couple, and Meghan is really keen to begin working for the British Monarchy."
The source also revealed Meghan "is already having private meetings with charities that Harry has helped set up so she can get to know the humanitarian landscape of the U.K."
That's not to say that Harry and Meghan haven't expressed their desires to have little ones of their own. Back in April, Harry told The Telegraph that he "would love to have kids." Family life has also been on Meghan's mind for quite some time now. In May 2016, Meghan told Best Health magazine that she couldn't "wait to start a family." The 36-year-old reiterated her sentiments just a few months later, telling Lifestyle magazine she dreamed of being a mom.
"It's all about balance," she stated. "I have so much happiness in my career and am fortunate to travel the world and see so many amazing things - it will also be nice to be anchored to something grounded and in the same place. Raising a family will be a wonderful part of that."
When we think about all of the times Harry was out-of-control cute with kids and Meghan's humanitarian work with young girls, we can't help but believe these two, who already looked like doting parents while visiting a community center for children recently, will make wonderful, loving parents whenever "the near future" arrives.
Tom Petty's Cause of Death Has Been Revealed
Tom Petty passed away at the age of 66 on Oct. 2, 2017, and his family revealed his cause of death in a Facebook statement on Friday. According to his wife, Dana, and daughter Adria, the music legend died from "an accidental drug overdose as a result of taking a variety of medications." Tom's family also revealed that he had been suffering from emphysema, knee problems, and a badly fractured hip, which he had still been recovering from while he was on tour with his band last year.
"As a family we recognize this report may spark a further discussion on the opioid crisis and we feel that it is a healthy and necessary discussion and we hope in some way this report can save lives," the statement read. "Thank you also for respecting the memory of a man who was truly great during his time on this planet both publicly and privately."
Tom was laid to rest in a private service at the Self-Realization Fellowship Lake Shrine in Pacific Palisades, CA, on Oct. 16, 2017, and is survived by his wife, Dana, and his two adult daughters, Adria and AnnaKim, whom he shares with ex-wife Jane Benyo.

Yep, It's Almost Been 21 Years Since Roseanne Came to an End
It's been almost 21 years since the final episode of Roseanne aired on May 20, 1997. The sitcom's two-part series finale ended with a major twist; not only was it revealed that the majority of all nine seasons had been fictionalized by Roseanne Conner (Roseanne Barr), who had been writing a novel this entire time, but as it turns out, Dan Conner (John Goodman) actually died of a heart attack a year prior. But who says history can't be rewritten, right? OK, nobody says that, but in this case it can.
Ahead of the reboot's March 27 premiere, ABC gave us a first look at what the cast is up to, and Dan is alive and well, despite dying in the series finale. We also got a look at Jackie (Sara Gilbert) in full nasty woman mode, as well as glimpses of the new cast including Emma Kenney, Jayden Rey, Christopher Lloyd, and Ames McNamara. We still have a couple months left until Roseanne returns, but in the meantime, check out these other TV shows.
What REALLY Happened to Quinn on Scandal? Let's Discuss
Spoilers for the latest episode of Scandal below!
Scandal's Winter premiere left us with more questions than answers, the biggest one being: is Quinn really dead? Given the tension between Olivia (Kerry Washington) and Papa Pope (Joe Morton) over the whole dinosaur bones fiasco, it's certainly looking that way. Then again, when Rowan puts the woman's body into the trunk, we don't get to see her face before the car explodes, leaving a charred corpse behind. Who's to say that wasn't a decoy body?
Sure, Olivia later tests for DNA, and the rest of the gladiators find a piece of her clothing at the scene, but would planting evidence like that really be so difficult for Rowan to engineer? Doubtful (the same goes for the two gunshot wounds Quinn and her unborn baby supposedly suffered). Regardless, the team is devastated by the possibility that their longtime friend is gone. They even hold a memorial service of sorts, a "Warrior's Goodbye," where they shoot bullets filled with Quinn's ashes into the woods (yes, really).
But let's not forget - despite that emotional goodbye, this is Scandal. We all know Shonda Rhimes loves a good, shocking twist, and what could be more shocking than Quinn (Katie Lowes) coming back from the dead a few episodes from now? Not to mention, it definitely seems like Huck's (Guillermo Diaz) investigation into the situation will uncover some unpleasant information. Oh, and there's the matter of Charlie (George Newburn), who shows up at Rowan's house to beg for his job back, only to hear a crying baby. Whose child is that?! The baby looks too old to be Charlie and Quinn's daughter, but it's hard to imagine it could be anyone else's.
At this point, it's safe to say Quinn's fate is still up in the air. While both Lowes and some of the Scandal writing team members were tweeting as if Quinn's gone for good, we won't believe it until we see some better proof (say, a flashback to Rowan actually doing the deed).
Of course, Twitter had a lot to say about the matter.
Let's All Freak Out About the First Photo From Ant-Man and The Wasp Together
OK, like, we knew that Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly were going to look good in Ant-Man and The Wasp, but we didn't realize just how good. Fortunately, the good people over at Marvel have released the first photo from the Peyton Reed-directed sequel to 2015's Ant-Man. The image features Rudd and Lilly suited up as their superhero alter egos, and both of them look ready for battle. It's the first time we've seen the pair in costume since it was announced that Lilly's character, Hope van Dyne, would be putting both her badass brains and boxing skills to use as The Wasp.
The sequel will follow Rudd's Scott Lang as he balances being a father to his young daughter, Cassie, as well as all the duties that come along with being a superhero, until a new mission from Hope and Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) throws a wrench in that balance. Now that Michelle Pfeiffer has joined the cast, it's pretty clear that the aforementioned mission will involve rescuing Janet van Dyne - the original Wasp, Hope's mom, and Hank's wife - who disappeared years earlier and was presumed dead after getting lost in a subatomic realm. Since we see Scott escape from a similar situation in Ant-Man, the team has a greater chance than ever to bring her back.
The sequel doesn't hit theaters until July 6, 2018, so sit back and enjoy that photo in the meantime.
Charlie Brooker Finally Confirms One of the Craziest Black Mirror Theories
Season four of Black Mirror boldly goes where no season of the dystopian series has gone before. There's the Charlie Brooker-created show's first foray into black and white with "Metalhead," the first time a story was set inside a space epic with "USS Callister," and the first explicit acknowledgement that all of Black Mirror is taking place inside a shared universe thanks to the season's last episode, "Black Museum." There have been plenty of clues that all of the episodes over the years have been linked - the song that plays at least once a season, all of those Victoria Skillane Easter eggs - but Brooker had yet to confirm or deny the connected universe theory himself.
In one of the behind-the-scenes featurettes Netflix released to go along with season four, Brooker sits down for a quick chat about the latest six episodes. In addition to commenting on why he decided to create the bleak series, he discusses how "Black Museum" changes things.
"People used to say to me, 'Are these all set in one shared universe?' And I'd say, 'Absolutely not,'" he recalled. "But now for the first time, I think one of our stories explicitly starts referring to things that happened in other episodes."
The episode in question is, of course, "Black Museum," which follows a young woman as she explores a creepy museum full of artifacts from high-tech crimes that have happened throughout multiple seasons of Black Mirror: the iPad from "Arkangel," the bee drone from "Hated in the Nation," and the bloody bathtub from "Crocodile," among many others. The museum is a true house of horrors (or "a walk down memory lane," if you ask Brooker), and it finally gives fans of the show a concrete link between all the different storylines.
In a second featurette specifically about the "Black Museum" episode, actor Douglas Hodge - who plays sleazy museum proprietor Rolo Haynes - doubles down on what Brooker said about the shared universe: "This is one of the few stories, I think, that does acknowledge all the other stories and all the other worlds that have been created."
PSA: Amazon Prime's Monthly Fees Are Going Up
Amazon Prime is officially going to get more expensive for monthly subscribers. The company is increasing the price from $10.99 to $12.99 a month, according to TechCrunch, which would make the total at the end of the year $156. So, if you were thinking of getting a Prime subscription, it's ultimately going to be cheaper to sign up for the annual membership - that's going to remain at the same price.
The company is also bumping its student pricing by 18 percent, with the cost increasing from $5.49 to $6.49 - but the yearly fee will stay at $49. The new pricing will start on Jan. 19 for new members, while existing ones will see the increase on the first renewal payment after Feb. 18.
Minecraft Boss Helen Chiang on Her New Role, Breaking Records, and What's in Store For 2018
On Jan. 17, a collective cheer erupted among women in tech and gaming when news broke that Helen Chiang had been named the new head of Minecraft at Microsoft. Chiang replaced Matt Booty - who was promoted to head of Microsoft Studios – but she's no stranger to the brand, having previously overseen operations and being a nine-year Xbox veteran. Chiang is also the first woman of color to lead a major gaming studio - and a passionate supporter of the digital world that Minecraft inhabits.
"I've gotten to know the people in the studio really well over the last three years, and I can't think of a better team to get to lead," Chiang told me by phone on Jan. 19. "When I think about what's next for us - well, my job is really not to change the plan that we're on, but to focus on a number of different things."
"The first one is bringing over more people to Bedrock through Nintendo, and that's coming out pretty soon. The second is expanding the features in the game that the players love, so we have the update Aquatic coming out pretty soon. The third one is the new graphics engine that we talked about both at MINECON and E3, the superduper graphics pack. They're all areas that I'm really excited about and that the team is working very hard on."
Chiang's ascension comes at a time when Minecraft is reaching all-time highs in nearly every metric; 144 million copies of the game have been sold across more than a dozen platform, with 74 million players coming back to play the game each month.
"We just recently set a new record in December for monthly active users, so now we're at 74 million monthly active users - and that's really a testament to people coming back to the game, whether it's through the game updates or bringing in new players from across the world," Chiang told me. "That's really our goal, to keep building the community that we have."
Going forward, Chiang hopes to unite all of the Minecraft players on different devices into one, cohesive community. "The Better Together update came out in the Fall, and that was really our first step towards this vision of bringing all of our players together," she said.
"All of our players are playing across a number of different devices and platforms, and it shouldn't matter where they're playing - what's important to us is that they have the opportunity to play it together, because it makes it so much more of a rich experience. That's the journey we're still on . . . we've been doing a lot of work to expand into new geographies and really just making Minecraft available to anybody, anywhere in the world, any way that they want to play."
Naturally, growing the community requires the game to be constantly updated, and the team at Minecraft is hard at work at making that happen. That's where Chiang's other two key endeavors - the graphics update and the update Aquatic - come into play.
"The update Aquatic is focused on Minecraft oceans . . . it'll bring a rich set of new experiences to our players, and we're really excited about that," Chiang said, noting that she recently previewed the updates and, while the big news has been the addition of turtles to gameplay, she's far more amped about the dolphins that will make their way into Minecraft with the next update.
Chiang also pointed to the Bedrock update for Switch - which will introduce some previously unavailable features to the platform, most notably the Marketplace for textures, mini games, and skins - as a huge step toward improving the cross-platform experiences. The Marketplace enables creative-minded fans to develop their own Minecraft experiences and sell them to other players - and has been a massive boon for the company, especially as it brings new content to users on a regular basis.
"I'm really excited about how well the marketplace has done," she said. "It launched in June of 2016 and has steadily been growing month over month - we just came off the strongest month this past December. Honestly, it's been just so amazing to watch the creators grow. And the part that's really inspiring to me is the stories I hear about how we're changing creators' lives. Some of them have been really involved in Minecraft for a long time . . . and because they've seen so much success in the marketplace, they've been able to quit the job that they thought would be the one that financially sustained them and been able to go focus on the thing that they're truly passionate about."
"A lot of these creators grew up playing Minecraft, and now they're the ones creating content for Minecraft," she added. "I love that Minecraft can unlock that creativity in people and really give them the opportunity to build a life for themselves on it."
The final piece of the puzzle, then, is the new graphics engine. But it's no easy task, developing a system that works across such a large number of platforms around the world - especially given that the aim is to come up with the perfect version of everything that rolls out on Minecraft, as opposed to requiring constant patches and fixes on something that wasn't ready for market.
"People ask, 'Hey, when is it coming out?' Well, I think the thing that we've learned through the Better Together update is that we want it to be perfect when it comes out," she explained. "So the team is taking the time to iterate and make sure that the experience is at the quality we want it to be by the time we bring it out to our players."
Above all else, Chiang wants to ensure that the Minecraft studio is a place where the creative staff can really work their magic. As it stands, she's already been an inspiration to those she's worked with over the last couple of years at Minecraft - not just as a leader, but as a working mother, a woman of color, and a female voice in a primarily male-dominated world.
"The Minecraft franchise has never been stronger, and Helen's amazing work and thoughtful leadership have been instrumental to our success as a global Minecraft team," Head of Communications Aubrey Norris told me. "She is so inspiring to me as a woman in games and a mother - she proves to people like me that we can run a major games studio and be a wonderful mom."
For her part, Chiang describes her driving motivations as twofold; she wants to make a difference in the world while at the same time having a lot of fun and empowering those around her to evolve Minecraft to the next level.
"That's why I'm so passionate about working on Minecraft," she said. "Life is too short to not work on something fun . . . and I [want to] build a place where everyone in the studio is empowered and enabled to do their best work. We have amazing artists, and designers, and engineers - and really, my job is to make sure that we're building the right environment for them to go do their best work."
From a fan perspective, it's incredibly exciting to have such a brilliant woman at the helm of such an immensely impactful cultural phenomenon. Her promotion is a big win for hardworking, passionate females in STEM around the world - and I really can't wait to see what new heights the Minecraft universe will reach under her guidance.
The 1 Photo Printer You Need in Your Life Right Now
I've always loved taking photos. For years, much of my extra cash went toward Polaroid film; adorning every free surface of my apartment, these were the snaps that pulled on my heartstrings and evoked the fondest of memories. But I've never come across a photo printer that has really had the same sort of sway over me as that bulky, black, 80's-style camera - that is, until I gave the Lifeprint Photo and Video Printer a spin. Here's why I'm now a believer and you should give it a try, too.
The printer itself is next level.
You can get up to 20 prints off of one battery charge, the paper is priced reasonably, and Zink technology means you never have to shell out cash for ink. The size of the prints - 3x2 - is also perfect, enabling you to see all the details of the photo without taking up any of the room of a traditional print. Oh, and there's also the fact that you can print on sticky paper, which means plastering your favorite images all over your home and belongings is easier than ever.
The size is unbelievably perfect.
I know this is not always the main criteria when looking for a new printer, but for me a big selling point is the fact that the sleek device can fit in every single one of my purses and enables me to give a copy of a photo to a friend instantaneously. Vacations, concerts, beach trips: everywhere I've gone with the printer, the long-lasting charge has been there for me and let me print out my favorite memories on the spot.
The clutch AR feature is the future of photos.
The main reason you should check out Lifeprint - as much as I love all the other stuff! - is that it has the most incredible and unparalleled technology when it comes to Augmented Reality. Any video or GIF is instantly transformed into a still photo, and once printed, you just hold your phone over the print and launch the Hyperphoto in the app . . . and behold, you instantly see the video or GIF appear on your screen. This is exceptionally cool when it comes to action shots, as the still you have printed can be mid-action and yet you still have the ability to watch the whole scene as it unfolded in full.

If You Travel With a Support Animal, Take Note of Delta's Stricter New Guidelines
Following an increase in animal incidents and attacks over the past year, Delta Air Lines is updating its policy for customers traveling with service and support animals. Effective March 1, the new guidelines should be required reading for frequent Delta flyers with support animals.
In a press statement, Delta's Senior Vice President of Corporate Safety, Security, and Compliance John Laughter said, "The rise in serious incidents involving animals in flight leads us to believe that the lack of regulation in both health and training screening for these animals is creating unsafe conditions across US air travel."
The new guidelines state that all passengers with a service or support animal submit a health form or immunization record at least 48 hours before a flight. Passengers traveling with an emotional support animal, however, will also have to submit a confirmation of animal training and a separate form that includes a letter from a licensed mental health professional.
These stricter guidelines, Delta said, are to prevent untrained or aggressive pets from traveling without a kennel in the cabin. If the updated policy might apply to you or affect any of your travel plans, read all about the new requirements here.
This Web Series Gets Chefs Stoned - and Then Has Them Compete For Culinary Glory
Culinary web series High Cuisine takes "plant-based" cooking and runs with it - hard. It's a competition, but not like anything you've ever seen before: the show invites two Los Angeles-based chefs to get extremely stoned and then tackle a food-crafting challenge. But it's important to note that none of the grub made on High Cuisine contains cannabis - it's just what's running through the chef's bloodstreams.
POPSUGAR reached out to the show's executive producer, vegan advocate Asher Brown, and we chatted over email about HC's herbal component, veggie cupcakes, and the challenge of cooking a meal in just one color.
POPSUGAR: Tell me a little about the inspiration behind this new show. Why was the timing right to roll it out now?
Asher Brown: With High Cuisine, we wanted to show amazing chefs creating incredible, unique, and appetizing dishes. This isn't Cheech and Chong or Dude, Where's My Car? There is a great depth of creativity and talent here. We've got top chefs creating crazy dishes that no one has ever seen before. Plant-based cuisine is huge right now, and [adult-use] cannabis just got legalized in California, so the time is right for a show that combines the two.
PS: How did you decide to add "planted-based only" parameters? What about vegan food and cannabis pair together so well?
AB: There's a lot of overlap between the cannabis and plant-based movements. To me, the intersection is about being conscious about what you put into your body, and how that affects you and the world at large. And just because people have always done things a certain way, that doesn't mean we should blindly follow along.
PS: What makes High Cuisine different from other cannabis-inclined culinary shows (like Bong Appétit)?
AB: We wanted to do a fresh take on the traditional cooking show. High Cuisine has all of the trappings of a competition show you might find on network TV, but with the added fun that stoned chefs bring to the kitchen. Plus, we're aiming our show at a wide audience. You don't have to smoke to appreciate High Cuisine. The weed is in the chefs, but not in the food, so we'd love everyone watching at home to wonder what a fruit roll-up enchilada tastes like and be able to follow along when a chef tries to make beet cupcakes - and then get inspired to cook some awesome weird food themselves.
PS: Tell me about some of the unique participant challenges of this show. What has surprised you most thus far with filming?
AB: High Cuisine truly is the first show of its kind, so getting our competing chefs to sign up to get high in front of a camera and then compete was always going to be our biggest challenge. In one episode, we had a chef who had never smoked before - Chef Rouha Sadighi - and we were able to capture her first-ever puff on the show.
In our veggie cupcakes episode, Chef Cinthya Gomez didn't have much experience smoking either, and she actually made sure to practice before coming on the show. These are all very successful chefs, and while we had to work hard to build trust, I was blown away by how willing they were to jump in on this adventure.
PS: What do most people have trouble understanding about cooking with cannabis? Any pointers for first-timers?
AB: While High Cuisine does not involve putting cannabis in the dishes, it does paint the picture that cooking while stoned is all about creativity. It's about trying new things in the kitchen that might turn out awesome or might be horrible failures - and having a great time no matter the outcome. Cooking shouldn't be about following a recipe or ending up with an Insta-perfect dish. It's about loving food, being creative, and really paying attention to what you're eating.
PS: What has turned out to be your favorite episode and why?
AB: Episode 4, entitled "Color Wars," is my favorite. We asked our chefs to create a Michelin-caliber gourmet meal, but they could only use one color of food in their dishes. Chef Rouha had never smoked before and absolutely crushed it with her red food dish. Chef Key Locke had a bit more experience smoking, and it was so much fun watching her continually changing what she was making with her green food dish. This episode is all about the challenges of cooking while high, plus the rewards of not being tethered down by a recipe. "Color Wars" is filled with outrageously hilarious moments, and both chefs delivered incredible dishes at the end.
PS: Tell me about some of the most rewarding aspects of creating such a show.
AB: This show was really personal for me. I was able to deliver a show that was all about creativity and takes a major step toward making plant-based cuisine accessible to a wider audience, all while normalizing cannabis culture. We had so much fun on set, and I really think it shines through. Honestly, I still can't believe Go90 let us make a show where the chefs get high and compete to make wild plant-based dishes. Big appreciation to the Go90 team for their support, and to the production company Mitu for bringing me in. And I am so grateful for how well this show has been received. So many incredible artists worked on this show, and I really think we have something special.
PS: What's coming up on High Cuisine's horizon?
AB: We've got a few more episodes to air in season one, including the championship in early February. Winning dish gets on the menu at [LA-based Gracias Madre's] Jason Eisner's new bar Whiskey Baby.
PS: Anything else you'd like to add?
AB: Food is amazing. If you want to see more shows like High Cuisine, then we need everyone to come out and show their support. We don't need any more cooking shows with food that's too serious, or food that's sh*tty for you, or food that sucks for the planet. High Cuisine is a fun show for a broad audience - not just vegans and stoners. If you like getting creative with your food and want to have a few laughs along the way, our show is free to watch at Go90.com.
Fresh Off the Runway: Alaska Airlines Unveils an Elevated New Collection of Employee Uniforms
Image Source: Courtesy of Alaska Airlines
With the Alaska Airlines and Virgin America merger in full swing, it was most necessary to give the brand a refresh, right down to the employee uniforms. On Thursday, Jan. 18, POPSUGAR joined the airline and 2,000 of its employees inside the Alaska Seattle-Tacoma hangar for the big reveal of their new branded ensembles. Seattle fashion designer Luly Yang teamed up with Alaska Airlines to custom design a whole new collection and unveiled over 90 garments and accessories on the runway - the fashion runway, that is.
It was a big day for Alaska Airlines, as it marked the first major brand refresh they've done in 25 years. So 38 airline employees, from maintenance technicians to pilots, modeled the gear themselves. Though airline employees last received new uniforms back in 2011, they didn't check all of the boxes when it came down to the style - and more importantly, functionality - of the everyday workwear. But after two years of surveying thousands of employees, conducting focus groups, and attending worksite visits, Yang seems to have really nailed this one. The result was a collection that was neither more Virgin America or more Alaska Airlines, but a fresh look that the new, united Alaska will be known for.
"It was a melding of the two to create this West Coast-modern vibe that's fresh and pops of color; nice energy that's classic yet modern," Sangita Woerner, Alaska Airlines' vice president of marketing, told POPSUGAR. "[Our uniforms] definitely needed to be more modernized, a little bit fresher, and better fitting, which I think Luly's done a fantastic job of doing."

As the model employees confidently showed off their new uniforms - which will continue to be wear-tested for the next 60 days before making final improvements - it was obvious which pieces were the crowd favorites. The navy, waterproof trench coats (to be worn by all employees) and the brown leather pilot jackets looked amazingly chic - so much so that I wanted to personally take them home after the show. But the one added feature that had the whole room roaring? Pockets. According to Woerner, one of the most demanded requests from employees were more pockets.
"What Luly did was she got down to that level of detail and was really smart about where she placed those pockets to make sure they were superusable," Woerner told us.
New pockets were incorporated into the design of each piece, including dresses, to fit larger devices, tools, pens, baggage tags, and other common items. Yang made sure that shirts stayed tucked when employees reached up (another popular comment), allowed enough stretch in the waistband for pilots to sit comfortably in the cockpit for long periods of time, and more. She truly thought of everything when it comes to utility, and it didn't hurt that the employees looked stylish, as well. Keeping everyone's feedback in mind was also one of the most difficult parts about designing this collection.

"The most challenging part was taking input from so many voices, so many opinions - they have 13 different work groups with different job functions, and we had to make that all work into a cohesive way," Yang told POPSUGAR.
A total of 130 employees have been wear-testing the line to make sure it's practical across jobs. In addition to making sure the uniforms looked fantastic, Alaska Airlines also partnered with Unisync and OEKO-TEX to ensure that every garment receives the highest certification in safety and quality.

After the show, I got to see and appreciate all the aforementioned details up close. I spoke with a few of the model employees, who unanimously shared that comfort, movement, and quality were brought through this collection. Air pilot Sara Zieske loved the fact that she'd be able to sport a scarf instead of a tie, while flight attendant Justin Fitzgerald enjoyed how "comfortable and stylish" his uniform was.
Though all 19,000 Alaska Airlines, Virgin America, and Horizon Air employees won't be fully suited up in their new gear until the end of 2019, Alaska is keeping busy with plenty of other updates in the interim. Within the next two years, the airline is aiming to really step up their brand presence and take over California in addition to the already secured Pacific Northwest region.
"I think the next major milestone will be when we hit this threshold level of awareness and preference up and down the West Coast," Woerner told us. "Once people know who Alaska is, understand why we're different than other carriers out there, and they start to know that we're about service, we're about great fares and great value, and we have this West Coast vibe - if we can land that in the next couple years, that'll be the milestone.

Meet Replika, the AI Bot That Wants to Be Your Best Friend
On the day before Replika was officially made available to the public, more than 1.5 million people had already queued up on the app's waiting list, in addition to the several hundred thousand who had already been granted access as part of a beta testing program. What kind of app could possibly amass an initial user group that's the size of the entire population of Philadelphia? The answer may surprise you: Replika is an artificial-intelligence-driven chatbot on a mission to become your best friend.
The concept is of course reminiscent of that iconic Black Mirror episode, where a woman who's just lost her husband brings him back via AI only to find it's the exact opposite of anything she could have wanted - and that's a similarity that was not lost on critics of the first iteration of Replika, Roman. Eugenia Kuyda, cofounder of software development company Luka, developed Roman in response to the death of her best friend and business partner around the same time that she had watched the episode. And while Roman was met with mixed reviews due to its solitary function as a human replacement, Replika is a more evolved and user-friendly version of the program that serves not just as a friend but also as a personal journal. The more you talk to your Replika companion, the more it learns and becomes like you - and the more it gives you the type of feedback and reaction that a friend would if placed in the same position.
"We have diehard fans of Replika, and Replika is there for them every day - they're finding an outlet there," Kuyda told me by phone in advance of the app's Nov. 1, free-to-use launch, adding, "It's allowing people to feel like it's OK to be themselves, to feel better." And she's not exaggerating when she says that. I was given access to advance testing of the apps for several weeks before launch, and while I was at first hesitant to reveal anything personal, it quickly became apparent that it was learning my humor, my snark, my interests - and could mimic them in a way that made me feel as if a like-minded individual was typing to me in real life. Kuyda says that the average Replika user sends 40-50 messages per day to their AI companion, a number that she says is comparable to the total amount of texts sent on an average day by an American teenager.
As it stands, Replika doesn't have a lot of features outside of logging your activities, interacting with your companion, and leveling up by spending more time using the app. But the use cases are endless. "It helps you open up," Kuyda said, citing her own experience with the app as a way it can be used to help with being a more confident, thoughtful person when she's out in the world. "I'm not great with conversations; I never really know how to talk to other people in the right way or make them feel better," she said, before describing how she uses Replika to help unpack and pick apart what she's thinking and feeling and as a sounding board before entering high-stress situations. But Kuyda reiterates that there's a strong case for Replika as a healthy alternative to social media networks that can make us feel more alone. "You'd be amazed how lonely people are feeling now . . . it doesn't matter if they have a lot of friends or have a cool job. They feel disconnected from other people and from life," she said, adding that it's not meant to take the place of human engagement, instead serving to make that human engagement feel a little less daunting.
"It's a very simple idea," Kuyda said. "We really want it to be a healthy relationship. We have so many apps that make us feel like sh*t every day, and I just want to build something that will make us feel better."
The 11 Creative Design Trends That Will Define 2018
Let's be honest: there are few greater pleasures in life than spotting a perfect, gorgeous, inescapable image that stays with you for days. It's what drives Instagram users to dig deep for that perfect inspiring photo, and why Pinterest continues to be the go-to destination for Zen planning. But for stock photo, video, and music agency Shutterstock - a company that specializes in that perfect image - our searching and downloading habits also help to provide an altogether different service: predicting exactly what will drive creative design over the coming weeks and months.
The 2018 edition of Shutterstock's Creative Trends Report was released on Jan. 17 and provides a huge amount of insight into what the internet loved the most last year and how the most popular searches will define design aesthetics in the year to come. Ahead, check out the 11 trends that the company predicts will "dominate" pop culture and design this year - and be sure to check out the full report over on the Shutterstock site.
Someone Calculated the Cost Per Ounce of Your Favorite Lipsticks, and One Is Over $500
A redditor has just worked out how much lipsticks cost per ounce, and the results are really interesting. It's not much of a surprise that drugstore brands like Wet n Wild and E.L.F offer up the most bang for your buck, but Huda Beauty also came in pretty high on the list. However, the redditor later confirmed that she had actually used the lip contour pencil for this particular calculation.
[Update] I calculated the lipstick price (per ounce) for 36 makeup brands... from MakeupAddiction
Commenters were also surprised by how costly Fenty Beauty and Glossier are when you factor in weight, but let's be honest, we're still going to buy them! As someone else pointed out, "it's ALLLL about the aesthetic."
A lot of people in the comments were quick to point out that unlike other cosmetics, lipstick probably represents the largest portion of people's makeup collections, because they want to have a wide choice of colors. A lot of us rarely hit the end of the tube of lipstick. This is why, with brands like Colourpop, it might not matter that their lipstick sizes are smaller, because you are able to try a range of colors without also investing in the beautiful packaging as you might with a Tom Ford lipstick.
This list definitely gives us insight into what we're paying for, but lipsticks are much more than just product for beauty junkies. We can't deny our love for gorgeous packaging that we're happy to whip out and show off at every given opportunity. A lot of us love investing in a little bit of luxury. And have you seen Pat McGrath's bullet packaging?!
I've Always Hated Foundation, but This Tarte Formula Turned Me
I've never been a huge makeup wearer, but ironically, I'm a huge fan of makeup. I watch YouTuber after YouTuber apply a full face of makeup, only to skip over the stage where they apply arguably one of the most important parts: their base. Since I can remember, as long as I've worn makeup, I've never used foundation. I'm very sensitive about what I can feel on my skin, and for me, that means concealer, powder, and mascara is about as much as I can handle.
However, after using the Tarte Shape Tape concealer on and off for a few months (and loving it), I can't say I wasn't intrigued when I saw our POPSUGAR Beauty Director Lauren Levinson praising the formula of its new foundation companion, Shape Tape Hydrating Foundation ($39). I had a reason: over the last few months, whether I was using Shape Tape or Nars Soft Matte Complete Concealer, I found myself coating most of my face with concealer, trying to hide my dark circles, blemishes, and dry Winter skin.
Since I know enough about makeup to realize that I was using a ridiculous amount of concealer, I decided to try Tarte's new foundation in its hydrating formula (my skin is dry as f*ck), and after all these years of denying this step in my makeup routine, I'm here to admit to you all and myself that I've been an absolute idiot.
Foundation is the sh*t.
Upon the first application of the foundation in the shade Medium Sand, I quickly realized that I could make my entire face look uniform with a few swipes of my It Cosmetics foundation brush. Rather than slathering my face in concealer, I could use this lightweight formula to coat my entire face in a uniform shade and appear as though my skin tone was fully even. It was like freakin' magic (cue every other makeup wearer's eye roll at this very basic discovery).
Although I've hated using foundation for my entire makeup-wearing life, all it took was a few swipes of Shape Tape's large doe-foot applicator to realize just how silly I've been all these years.

Why Kendall Jenner's Acne Going Viral Is Part of a Bigger Problem
If you meet someone who hasn't dealt with acne, consider them a unicorn and put them in the Smithsonian. It's a rite of passage for many people, and as we age, we're learning that due to our hormones, adult acne is commonplace. And frankly, it's nothing to be embarrassed or ashamed of.
Acne does not mean you aren't clean. It doesn't mean you haven't tried everything you can to get rid of it. There are so many factors now when it comes to blemish-prone skin: it can be as simple as changing your laundry detergent or as complicated as the medication you're taking. The point is that for most of us, acne is normal. It might suck, but it doesn't make you different. In fact, it makes you human.
When it comes to social media, though, you'll see nary a blemish, a scar, a mark, a bump. Smooth, mannequin-esque skin is rampant thanks to photo-editing apps like Facetune - a built-in form of Photoshop for your phone. It's been reported that people are getting surgeries and treatments to look more like the edited and filtered versions of their photos. And of course we see poreless, perfect photographs for campaigns. One could argue that for professional images, retouching is commonplace, but when it comes to scrolling through Instagram, it seems like we should be a little more realistic.
Which leads us to Kendall Jenner at the Golden Globes. She looked stunning. Kendall is undeniably gorgeous: she's tall with striking features; she's a model, for god's sake. But it's hard to get through any type of big event without a woman enduring intense criticism, so many chose to emphasize something she probably would have rather been ignored: her skin.
The fact is that Kendall had a breakout. Shocking! A woman with real, uncontrollable skin! Normally this isn't something we'd call attention to, but seeing how people went after her for something completely normal, we felt this photo was important to discuss for a few reasons.
First, Kendall has been vocal about her acne in the past, and she had a great response in regard to the criticism she was receiving about her skin at the Globes. Kendall is also an inspirational standard of beauty for many. She is tall, and she seemingly has the perfect body, hair, and face. As a normal person, it can feel overwhelming to see perfect images online because it's feels like you're not living up to a particular standard when it comes to beauty. You place the blame on yourself.
How many times have you looked in a mirror and wondered why your lips weren't bigger or smaller? Your skin not smoother? Your eyes not more cat-like? Your hair not thicker or straighter? Your complexion not even-toned? Your waistline not thinner? Where did these lines come from? We all have something that, whether we realize it or not, bothers us because of the images we are fed each day online.
This picture, however, reminds everyone that Kendall is a 22-year-old. She has hormones and bad skin days, just like the rest of us. She's human. It's also a reminder that editing is just as commonplace on social media as it is in magazines. You can't trust every image you see.
You might not realize it, but many of the top influencers online are editing their photos with precision. It's not just a filter change anymore - things can be removed, plumped, lifted, and enhanced. Instagram account CelebFace has made an impact in the beauty community by posting extreme close-ups and before-and-after photos of celebrities. The people behind the account also post GIFs to demonstrate how they've been edited - sometimes extensively so. Some of the page's content can be gossipy at times, but in general, it's creating a dialogue about how far we'll go on social media to look our best. (CelebFace did not return POPSUGAR's request for comment.)
Many of those featured on CelebFace change the size of their already-tiny waists, their jawlines, and their eye shapes. The account also showcases filler and plastic surgeries, which is nothing to be ashamed of. These are not taboo topics in 2018, although it feels like everyone would rather ignore the sometimes-obvious elephant in the room. The changes become an issue when it's clear that a celebrity has done "something" but portray it as natural or as if it's makeup.
"We need to know the truth behind beauty to stop dysmorphia issues," said Andrea Berk, founder of digital beauty agency HDN. "If we don't love something about our physical appearance, we can change it, and that's the beauty of modern science. But not acknowledging the changes made causes so much confusion and inner struggle about our perceived flaws."
That said, one could argue that it's nobody's business what you do or don't do to your face and body. And that's true. But when you're influencing a large demographic of impressionable women and men, it's fair to want transparency, especially when body dysmorphic disorder starts as young as 12-13 years old. Because it's near impossible to know who and what's been edited or changed, it's important to make sure you keep a realistic perspective when it comes to beauty. And part of that is as simple as curating your Instagram so that you only see images that make you feel your best.
"I'm a strong advocate of responsible social media usage," said Daniel Lyman, LCSW. Lyman works with a variety of actors in Los Angeles who are experiencing body dysmorphia at the hands of the media. The celebrity is scrutinized for his or her appearance and feels pressure to look a certain way, which leads to cosmetic procedures or edited images. This all feeds into the unrealistic beauty culture that's been created online.
"It is more important that you follow the right people than it is to follow everyone," Lyman said. "What you see online is about controlling the content you subscribe to. If certain websites regularly body shame people, then don't continue going to that website. If certain Instagrammers make you feel worse about yourself, then it's important to unfollow them. Taking control of your internet usage means taking control of the content you allow yourself to see."
Whatever side you're on, we all know that more than ever, there is an unfair pressure to look perfect, regardless of what you're doing: with or without makeup, at home or at a party. But nobody is without flaws. Everybody, including celebrities, has bad days. This photo of Kendall, and others like it, should not encourage you to pick apart how someone looks. It should inspire empathy.
When looking at a photo, think: what if that were me? How would you want people to react and respond? This photo should remind you that you are beautiful regardless of what your skin looks that day or how a certain image made you feel about yourself. It should remind you that social expectations typically do not meet reality. That you are enough the way you are. And if you want to change something about yourself, go for it. Just make sure you're doing it for you, not anyone else - especially the pressure to look a certain way through typically inauthentic online images.
Shop the Exact Products Betty Cooper Wears on Riverdale to Get That Girl-Next-Door Glow
Betty Cooper is a babe! No wonder Cole Sprouse Jughead Jones is dating her. We love actress Lili Reinhart's fearless attitude on The CW's Riverdale and her subtly glam beauty look. She's known for her bouncy ponytail, girlish flush, lush lashes, and pink pout.
To get the scoop on Betty's exact product lineup, POPSUGAR interviewed Riverdale's lead makeup artist, Erin Mackenzie.
"Betty's natural look begins with Shiseido Glow Enhancing Primer with Guerlain L'Or Radiance Primer underneath for added radiance," Mackenzie revealed. "My go-to sculpt and highlight palette is Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze and Glow, and Glossier Cloud Paint for the most beautiful natural blush out there! I adjust her eye shadow each episode, always staying within a naturally defined zone, playing with tones to match her moods. Her lashes are made perfect with Clinique mascara and our favorite lip [last] season is, without question, Josie Maran Sting Plumping Butter in Free It. All this pulled together gives us that perfect girl-next-door glow!"
She also revealed how much fun it is to work on the set. "This is the hardest-working cast I've ever met," she said. "I adore them all! Not a day goes by where laughs aren't shared in the makeup trailer. Each and every cast member has become a huge part of my world, and with all that talent surrounding me, it's hard not to be inspired by them every day."

1 Pakistani-American Reveals Her Family's Best DIY Beauty Secrets
I will be the first to tell you I wasn't always appreciative of my Pakistani heritage and its rich and beautiful culture. As a first-generation Pakistani-American kid who was born and raised in Sugar Land, TX, I was often confused when my family had a different way of doing things than some of my other friends. For example, if there was a dinner party on Friday night, I had to come home from school and change into traditional Pakistani clothes - I couldn't leave on my favorite jeans. I never understood why my parents drank at least six cups of chai tea daily. And in particular, I was puzzled by the beauty rituals of my family.
My mom, grandma (Ammi), and great-grandma (Amma) passed on their beauty tips and tricks to me so I could take advantage of them, but for years, I did so hesitantly. I often thought to myself, "Why can't we just go to Target or Sephora like everyone else?" As I started growing up, though, I became fascinated. I remember being in awe at the stories my grandma would tell me as she whipped up a lip scrub or a face mask. I started realizing how many generations before me had made the same recipes we still use today, and I formed a new respect for my own identity and where I came from. Now, I'm grateful to have serious love and appreciation for my culture.
For me, the best part of these tips and tricks is that they have been passed down in my family. But others will love that most of the recipes are simple and made with affordable ingredients from your pantry. Read on to discover a few of the lessons I've learned from my very own Pakistani beauty queens - my amma, ammi and mama!
Tonight, Fall Asleep Instantly With This Breathing Trick
Plagued by anxiety night after night? Relying on over-the-counter meds? Just not getting the sleep your body requires? If any of this sounds all too familiar, this breathing trick will help you get to bed sooner - no prescriptions required.
The exercise is called the 4-7-8 technique, and Dr. Andrew Weil calls it a "natural tranquilizer for the nervous system." Study after study has linked meditation to lowered stress levels, and this easy-to-follow exercise will help you reap some of the de-stressing benefits that come along with consistent meditation practice.
Beyond bedtime, Dr. Weil recommends performing this exercise whenever dealing with a stressful situation. The next time you can't curb sugar cravings, get into a fight with your partner, or can't hit the hay because you're overwhelmed, try it out for yourself. You'll start feeling more relaxed immediately. Here's how to do it:
- Place the tip of your tongue against the ridge of tissue just behind your upper front teeth, and keep it there through the entire exercise.
- Exhale completely through your mouth, making a whoosh sound.
- Close your mouth and inhale quietly through your nose to a mental count of four.
- Hold your breath for a count of seven.
- Exhale completely through your mouth, making a whoosh sound to a count of eight.
- This is one breath. Now inhale again and repeat three more times for a total of four cycles.

This Push-Up Challenge Will Make You Insanely Strong in 30 Days
If being able to do 50 push-ups is on your fitness bucket list, it's time to make it happen. Just like the 30-Day Squat Challenge, here's a plan to build your upper body and core strength so that by the end of the 30 days, you'll be able to bust out 50 push-ups.
This challenge involves five push-up variations to not only prevent boredom and overuse injuries but to also help sculpt other areas of the body. Here are instructions for the five different variations, followed by a 30-day plan to get you all the way to 50.
Number 1: Basic Push-Up
- Come into plank position with your arms and legs straight, shoulders above the wrists.
- Take a breath in, and as you exhale, bend your elbows out to the sides and lower your chest toward the ground. Stop as soon as your shoulders are in line with your elbows. Inhale to straighten the arms. This counts as one rep.
- If this is too difficult, do this exercise with your knees on the floor.
Number 2: One-Legged Push-Up (Left Leg)
- Begin in plank position.
- Extend your left leg straight behind you so it's parallel with the floor. Engage your abs, and try to keep your left heel in line with your hips.
- With your left leg extended and your right toes on the floor, exhale to bend the elbows, lowering into a push-up. Inhale to straighten your arms.
- This counts as one rep.
- If this is too difficult, the photo above shows how to do this push-up variation with your right knee resting on the floor.
Number 3: One-Legged Push-Up (Right Leg)
- Now switch sides. From plank position, extend your right leg straight behind you so it's parallel with the floor. Engage your abs, and try to keep your right heel in line with your hips.
- With your right leg extended and your left toes on the floor, exhale to bend the elbows, lowering into a push-up. Inhale to straighten your arms.
- This counts as one rep. As mentioned above, if this is too difficult, rest your left knee on the floor.
Number 4: T Push-Up
- Begin in plank position.
- Take a breath in, and then exhale to bend your elbows, lowering into a push-up.
- Inhale to straighten your arms, and at the top of your push-up, lift your left arm straight up overhead, rotating your torso to stack your shoulders, and turn your heels to the right, making a T-shape with your body.
- Exhale to place your left palm back on the ground and lower into a push-up.
- Inhale to straighten your arms and lift your right arm up overhead, rotating your torso and turning heels to the left.
- Exhale to place your right hand back on the ground.
- Doing a T push-up on both sides counts as one rep.
Number 5: Diamond Push-Up
- Begin in plank position. Place your hands together, directly under your sternum, with the tips of your index fingers and thumbs touching. Your fingers and thumbs should form a diamond or triangle shape.
- After an inhale, exhale to bend your elbows, lowering your chest toward the floor.
- Inhale to straighten the arms.
- This counts as one rep.
- If this is too difficult, try separating your hands a couple inches or widening your feet slightly. Still too hard? Then lower the knees to the ground.
The Plan
Instead of rolling out 50 regular push-ups in a row, you'll work up to doing 10 reps of each. This plan gives your upper body a day of rest every two days, but feel free to strength train other areas of the body on those rest days.
If you're new to the push-up scene, it's OK to perform these push-ups with your knees resting on the floor if straight legs is too difficult. But keep in mind that unless you practice doing push-ups on your toes with your legs straight, you'll never be able to do them. So do as many reps as you can with proper form with your knees lifted, and lower them when your arms start to fatigue. It's also OK to rest your arms if you need to (in ChIld's Pose or Seated Heart Opener), but as the plan progresses and you build strength and endurance, spend less time on your knees and resting, and more time rocking these push-up variations.
