Ta-Da! The Real Meaning Behind Those Vague Emoji

Rule number one of emoji: there are no rules. You can use those cute little symbols as much as you want. The only caveat is that sometimes they're a little . . . confusing. What's with the guy on his stomach, for instance? To get the meanings behind the most head-scratching characters, we looked to Emojipedia. Yes, it's a real thing, and all the names listed are official emoji character names. The meanings and descriptions, however, aren't necessarily accurate because Emojipedia isn't affiliated with the emoji makers. But it's better than nothing, right?

33 Sure Signs That You're an Empath

Do you pick up on the vibe of a room the moment you walk in? Can you almost always tell when someone is lying? Do you just generally have A LOT of feelings? You're probably an empath. You may be familiar with the spectrum of personality types between introverts and extroverts, but empaths are a whole other type of personality you may not know about. Empaths are often (but not always) more introverted, but the key aspect of the personality type is an empath's ability to relate to and absorb the feelings of other people. Empaths are extremely sensitive to their surroundings, and they are very affected by the energies of those around them.

There are positives to being an empath; for instance, they are sympathetic, caring, and understanding. They are intuitive and have the ability to influence the mood and energy around them. Empaths are good listeners and caretakers, and they are known for their compassion for others. However, being an empath definitely has its challenges. Because they are so sensitive, they can sometimes have difficulty differentiating other people's energy from their own. Commercials, movies, books, TV, the news, seeing the struggles of others - anything with an emotional element can affect empaths on a deeper level. Outside circumstances and situations can have a huge impact on the mental - and even physical - state of an empath. Empaths can unconsciously mirror other people's habits and moods, and for better or worse, they can soak up the energy around them. Empaths need to make sure to care for themselves in addition to caring for the rest of the world. Here are some signs you're an empath.

  1. You're extremely intuitive.
  2. It's easy for you to tell when people are lying.
  3. The energy of other people can change your own energy.
  4. You get "gut feelings" often (and they're almost always right).
  5. You often feel other people's pain.
  6. You consider yourself an introvert.
  7. You need to be near water.
  8. You often find yourself absorbing other people's emotions (both good and bad).
  9. You can get overwhelmed when surrounded by a lot of people.
  10. People feel like they can come to you when they have a problem.
  11. You're very sensitive.
  12. You love to be outside in nature because it revitalizes you.
  13. Being around certain people can make you feel drained.
  14. You feel physically or emotionally sick when seeing upsetting things in the news, on TV, or in movies.
  15. Your mood changes depending on who you're in a room with.
  16. You feel the same feeling around a specific person each time you see them.
  17. You have a big heart.
  18. You constantly seek answers for everything.
  19. You know that your energy can change the atmosphere around you.
  20. You go back and forth between being very expressive and very reclusive.
  21. You sometimes find yourself putting others' needs before your own.
  22. You value your alone time.
  23. You're a good listener.
  24. You deal with stomach issues and chronic fatigue due to emotional stress.
  25. You know and understand things, without needing any explanation.
  26. You are a creative type.
  27. You're a big animal-lover.
  28. You always need to know the truth and do not like deceit.
  29. You're a free spirit and find yourself daydreaming often.
  30. You're prone to mood swings (based on the environment you're in at the time).
  31. You're extremely open-minded and accepting of all people and lifestyles.
  32. You won't let a problem go until you find a satisfying solution.
  33. You sense things that other people miss.

Could This Heartbreaking Harry Potter Theory Explain Hogwarts Class Sizes?

A question that comes up often in Harry Potter fan circles is about the size of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. JK Rowling describes the magical institution as one of Europe's largest, with hundreds of students attending every school year. But, as book readers are well aware, the series's namesake character seems to have very few classmates, a mere handful of boys and girls in Gryffindor, with similarly scant enrollment of Harry's grade level in Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin.

Well, one Tumblr user has come up with a theory for why Harry Potter's grade level is so small.

http://marauders4evr.tumblr.com/post/140524900827/oh-my-god-i-just-realized-something-for-years

This theory, though heartbreaking considering its implications, has been parroted across Reddit and other fan blogs. It makes sense, right? Given that Harry's parents were killed when he was only 15 months old, it would explain tiny class sizes immediately surrounding Harry's year - Voldemort was at his peak leading up to and immediately following Harry's birth. Understandably, couples likely avoided conceiving during such terrifying times, with only a few brave wizards in Britain deciding to procreate despite the horrors of Voldemort's reign.

This sort of wartime fear surrounding major life events is a common theme in the Harry Potter series. In Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Molly Weasley explains that she and Arthur married young because everybody did during Voldemort's rise to power - they didn't know how much time they had left. And her son Ron justifies kissing Hermione during the Battle of Hogwarts for a similar reason.

"Is this the moment?" Harry asked weakly, and when nothing happened except that Ron and Hermione gripped each other still more firmly and swayed on the spot, he raised his voice. "Oi! There's a war going on here!"

Ron and Hermione broke apart, their arms still around each other.

"I know, mate," said Ron, who looked as though he had recently been hit on the back of the head with a Bludger, "So it's now or never, isn't it?"

So next time you're wondering why you only ever hear about a handful of Hogwarts students in Harry's grade level, understand that they're the few whose parents were brave (or foolish) enough to bring babies into the world during the reign of a complete monster.

The 3 Most Important Decorating Elements, According to a Designer

The way Shannon Smith transforms a bare apartment into a cozy home might cause you to confuse her for a magician, or an interior design fairy godmother at the very least. The Homepolish interior designer can do wonders to a space no matter how tight the budget or small the square footage.

The secret to creating a stunning home, she says, is to focus on three things when decorating. "I am a firm believer that you don't need a lot of stuff to make your space feel finished. If you consider these three things - texture, color, and scale - you can make any space feel cozy."

Keep reading to hear what Shannon has to say about approaching each.

The Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery Trailer Just Dropped, and We Are Officially Obsessed

It's been a little over a month since we first got word that a new Harry Potter game was in the works (and that it would be all about letting you experience Hogwarts for yourself!), but on Jan. 18 we finally got additional details and a trailer for Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, and we're calling it now: it looks freakin' awesome.

"Players will create a personalized student avatar, attend classes, learn magical skills, form friendships or rivalries with other students, and make pivotal decisions that will influence their character's story arc as they traverse their years at Hogwarts and grow as a witch or wizard," the press release issued by Jam City reads. But that's not all - we've also got a lot more info on what it is, exactly, that we can expect.

The game is set in the time between Harry Potter's birth and his enrollment at Hogwarts, when Nymphadora Tonks and Bill Weasley were students. The avatar customization system allows you to continually upgrade your avatar as you gain new expertise and magical skills - you can even choose your own pet. You will join one of the four Houses before progressing through your years at Hogwarts, participating in magical classes and activities such as Potions and Transfiguration. Building your skills will come in handy as you solve mysteries and go on adventures. As players improve their skills, they will unlock new locations, spells and other magical abilities.

Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery features both large plot arcs and smaller stories such as relationship quests. The game features a new encounter system in which players' decisions in both actions and narrative impact their quests, and how other characters regard and interact with them. These choices will allow Harry Potter fans to create the legacy of the witch or wizard they want to become.

And if that wasn't enough, here's the trailer in all its glory (and, yes, you might want to have your sound on for this):

For the superfans among us, there's an important thing to note: before the game officially launches on mobile phones everywhere, it'll be featured at the A Celebration of Harry Potter event at Universal Studios in Orlando, FL, on Jan. 26 through Jan. 28. There will be panels, swag, and even a chance to play the game itself at the Jam City booth - well before anyone else you know gets to lay eyes on it.

Suffice it to say, we can't wait for the game to be unleashed upon the world this Spring.

NASA's Photo Series Shows Before and After Images of Climate Change

Within hours of Donald Trump's inauguration, several pages on the WhiteHouse.gov website went missing - including one on climate change. It hasn't stopped several Twitter accounts dedicated to the National Parks Service from going rogue and writing tweets on climate change. It also didn't stop NASA from publishing its latest photography series, "Images of Change," which includes before and after photos of climate change.

The photography series isn't solely focused on climate change. It looks at other changes that have affected our world, such as "effects of urbanization" and "natural hazards such as fires and floods." However, several of the locations the series shown are places changing due to climate change.

Here's one before and after look at how much the Arctic Sea Ice has changed, with a photo from September 1984 and another from September 2016.

NASA, which on Jan. 18 released a joint report with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) on how 2016 was the "warmest year on record," still has no clear path as to how it will function in the Trump administration. There is also no indication (yet) as to whether or not the organization will have to scrub its website of any mentions of climate change. If this photo series is any indication, however, it's clear that NASA feels pretty strongly about the fact that climate change is real.

Whoa! These Marvel Images Are Trippy AF

Any Marvel fan can tell you just how much they love the franchise in any form - especially when it comes to full-scale illustrations of their favorite characters. One artist turned his portraits of Marvel characters into GIFs that are so subtle, you can barely tell they're moving images.

The artist, Mike Mitchell, originally created these pieces of art for a show that ran last year at the Mondo Gallery in Texas. They are completely stunning and definitely capture his feelings for Marvel. "This has easily been the most ambitious project I've ever taken on, and it's due in part to my love for their universe; which is fictional by definition, but real in my mind and in the minds of others," he said to Mondo Tees. It definitely touches fans, considering Mitchell's artwork first made the rounds on Reddit in 2014 and was rising on Imgur a few months ago.

Look ahead and become entranced by these amazing Marvel GIFs - you won't be able to look away.

This Little Girl "Met" Anakin Skywalker, and Their Interaction Is Too Sweet

It doesn't take much to warm our hearts, but even we think this video of a little girl meeting Anakin Skywalker at Disneyland is the cutest thing we might ever see.

The little girl, cosplaying as Padmé Amidala, first met Anakin Skywalker at Star Wars Weekends in Disneyland. She was shy at first but eventually hugged Anakin. The little girl went back again the following weekend, still dressed as Padmé, and said hello to Anakin again. This time, however, Anakin remembered her and said the cutest line ever: "Padmé! I've missed you." Cue your heart melting. Watch the entire video of the two interactions ahead.

While the video was uploaded to YouTube in 2016, it looks like this interaction took place in 2014. The little girl is named Lane and has an entire Facebook page and Instagram account devoted to her meeting all sorts of characters from movies.

The interaction between Anakin and "Padmé" is so adorable to some fans that it's also in a GIF. Keep warming our hearts, Lane!

Harry Potter Fans Will Absolutely Love What This Woman Did With Her Wall

Harry Potter fans have gone to great lengths to show their love for the series, but what this one woman did is something worth copying immediately. Meredith McCardle, Florida-based author and hardcore HP follower, hand-painted the entire first page of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone onto her wall. The result is something out of a dream.

According to her tweet, the project required an "overhead projector, a can of paint, a steady hand, and a crap load of patience." Even J.K. Rowling herself seemed to love it.

This is definitely one of the best diehard Potterhead ideas ever - and we love it.

How I Turned My Ikea Couch Into a $10,000 Designer Sofa

I don't believe you grow out of Ikea past the age of 25. I love the Swedish brand's minimalist aesthetic. And since I like to mix things up, the price point works for a design commitment-phobe like me. Despite my Ikea love, after three years, my Karlstad sofa started to look a bit sad. Since the low-profile sofa fit perfectly in my open living room, I decided to give it a designer-couch makeover instead of replacing it.

This Raleigh Sectional from Design Within Reach (pictured above) served as my inspiration. The walnut frame matched the midcentury vibe I strive for, and the light fabric color would add to the airy look in my bright living space. That sofa retails for as much as $10,000. I knew I could DIY the look for less. Read on for how I did it.

Meghan Markle Can't Keep Her Eyes (or Hands) Off Prince Harry During Their Latest Appearance

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been making us melt with their affectionate appearances ever since they went public with their relationship. Since since their engagement, we've seen the couple make numerous PDA-filled trips around the UK. On Wednesday, they joined forces with Prince William and Kate Middleton for the first Royal Foundation Forum, a chance to discuss the causes and charities they care deeply about.

From the moment Harry and Meghan stepped on stage for the first discussion of the day, we got a glimpse at how loved-up the pair clearly are. Their body language said it all, and even when Harry had to leave Meghan's side to make a solo speech, photographer Chris Jackson captured images of the former Suits actress watching from the audience, rapt with a dreamy smile on her face. Take a look at their cutest moments from the day now, then catch up with everything we know about their upcoming wedding.

Don't Worry, Other This Is Us Fans Cringed as Hard as You Did During THAT Strip Club Scene

The following contains spoilers for This Is Us.

When it comes to This Is Us relationships, we've always felt like Beth and Randall Pearson might have an even more iconic romance than Jack and Rebecca . . . but during the 16th episode of season two, fans see a side of their marriage that we never knew was there. The episode shows Randall and Beth, who usually make us think "relationship goals!" even when they're mid-argument, erupt into a brutal fight in the middle of a Las Vegas strip club - a Magic Mike Live show, to be specific - and the fan reactions to the scene say it all.

The argument isn't like the ones Beth and Randall usually hash out, where they recognize that they're a team and work collaboratively to solve their issues; rather, it includes deeply personal attacks in the most cringe-worthy public setting imaginable. Add bachelorette Kate for a hefty dose of family drama, and you've got a Pearson family sh*tshow of epic proportions.

Fans couldn't contain their horrified (yet entertaining) reactions to the strip club fight, so we've gathered some of the best ones here for your enjoyment. And good news: before you go writing off Randall and Beth's marriage, check out what Sterling K. Brown has to say about the state of things.

Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle Are the Cutest Sisters-in-Law (to Be) During Joint Outing

Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle already look like the best sisters-in-law anyone could ever have, and the royal wedding hasn't even happened yet! Kate and Meghan joined their partners, Prince William and Price Harry, at the Royal Foundation Forum on Wednesday, which focused on "Making a Difference Together" through the many charitable programs run by The Royal Foundation.

As they chatted on stage, we couldn't help but notice how adorable Kate and Meghan are together. Ever since their first appearance at Christmas, captured by a member of the public in a very memorable photo, we've been waiting to see more of them together. On Wednesday, they definitely looked like royal besties!

Not only are they attentively listening to each other and giggling away among themselves, but they're also twinning in blue outfits. This isn't the first time they've taken tips from each other, either. Meghan definitely took a cue from Kate's bouncy blowouts, and they've both shared fashion tips and even worn the same brands. Clearly, these ladies are two peas in a pod. Ahead, see more of Kate and Meghan's adorable moments together from the event.

Guys, We Have Some Sad News About This Adorable Queer Eye Couple

The season premiere of Queer Eye was a sweet and emotional introduction to the recently released Netflix reboot. The episode followed grandfather and Tex-Mex enthusiast Tom Jackson as he learned how to modernize his wardrobe, establish a skincare routine, and win back his ex-wife Abby, who he maintains is the love of his life.

In the end, Jackson manages to woo Abby with his snazzy new style and the questionable Greek yogurt guacamole recipe Antoni Porowski taught him. They even set up plans for another date in the near future! Unfortunately, the rekindled relationship didn't last long, and Jackson recently updated Queer Eye fans with the news that they are no longer together. To quote Luann de Lesseps, "How could you do this to me? Question mark."

On Twitter, Jackson said he was emotional while watching his episode for about the 20th time. (Twenty? Damn.) He added, "Just to let the world know, Abby and I are no longer together. She will always be the love of my life." It does seem that things are amicable between the two, as he has continued to share photos of them spending time together since filming.

On the bright side, Queer Eye recently gave an update on episode four's AJ and Drey: they are engaged! This show is truly an emotional roller coaster.

American Crime Story: Were David Madson and Jeff Trail Actually Dating?

When American Crime Story began season two, it largely stuck to the real-life script, dramatizing Andrew Cunanan murdering Gianni Versace on the steps of Versace's villa in Miami Beach. As the season has gone on and the timeline has moved backward in Cunanan's life, however, the events of the show have started to diverge a bit from real life. The most recent episode, "Descent," continues to highlight one big aspect of why Cunanan allegedly went on his 1997 murder spree - the supposed relationship between Jeff Trail and David Madson - but that actually couldn't be further from the truth.

In rebuilding the timeline of Cunanan's life before the murders, the show has made it look as though Cunanan became jealous of Trail and Madson's relationship, suggesting that may have been why he snapped and killed them both in April 1997. In the episode three weeks ago, "House by the Lake," the two talk in an elevator on the way up to Madson's loft (where Cunanan then kills Trail) about whether Cunanan knows about them; two weeks ago, in "Don't Ask Don't Tell," Cunanan is shown finding a photo of them together with Madson's dog, Prints, in Trail's apartment; and this week they are shown meeting at Norman Blachford's house and hitting it off at Cunanan's birthday party. But from what we can find, Trail and Madson were nothing more than friendly acquaintances.

According to Maureen Orth's book Vulgar Favors: Andrew Cunanan, Gianni Versace, and the Largest Failed Manhunt in U.S. History, which is the source material for this season of ACS, not only were Trail and Madson not involved with each other, but they were also each seeing other people at the time of their deaths. The book claims that Trail was dating a man named Jon Hackett, while Madson was involved with several men: Cedric Rucker in Virginia, a graphic artist in Atlanta, and a local Minneapolis man. Prior to that, they had both been in other relationships. Trail moved to Minneapolis with a man named Casey Murray, and Madson had been dating Robbie Davis. The only mention of them spending time together is at a sushi dinner with Cunanan and three other men in the Spring of 1996.

So even though Madson and Trail had hung out together socially with Cunanan, it doesn't sound like they were having some kind of relationship with each other behind his back. In Orth's Vanity Fair article that preceded her book about Cunanan's life and murder spree, she says that Madson "casually" befriended Trail when Trail moved to Minneapolis and that Trail warned Madson that Cunanan was a liar, but that seems to be the extent of their relationship with each other.

American Crime Story is making them out to be secret lovers, perhaps trying to assign some kind of motive behind their senseless deaths. It's quite the leap to take, especially since the show is not viewing everything strictly through Cunanan's eyes. If it were doing that, it might be logical to explore how Cunanan was having some paranoid delusions about his two friends becoming involved with each other. But that's not what the show is doing; instead, this seems to be one of the aspects where the writers have taken great liberties with the truth.

7 Other Men Eiza González Dated Before Striking Up a Romance With Josh Duhamel

This Is Us: Does Toby Even Have a Last Name?

We've learned quite a bit about Toby (Chris Sullivan) during the past two seasons of This Is Us - he was previously married; he's a fan of big romantic gestures for his fiancée Kate; and he really loves dogs and old TV shows. But there's one thing about Toby that we never really hear about on the series - his last name.

So, what is Toby's last name? According to IMDB, Toby's last name is Damon. Toby Damon. Probably no relation to Matt, but it does raise some questions: will Kate take his last name if and when they get married, or will she continue to go by Pearson? Kate's close bond with her late father, Jack, suggests that she may not want to get rid of his surname. Either way, you can now rest knowing Toby's full name and go back to staring at his over-the-top outfits.

Kelly Clarkson Can Barely Finish This Bizarre Version of "Stronger" Without Cracking Up

Jimmy Fallon's hilarious Google Translate game is back! During Kelly Clarkson's appearance on The Tonight Show, she graciously agreed to sing her hit song "Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)," but there was a catch. Jimmy ran all the lyrics through Google Translate, resulting in bizarre lines like, "Think you have destroyed my hair, I will try a new exercise, don't dodge my kid because I'm crazy." Needless to say, Kelly could barely get through it without cracking up (we don't blame her).

Kate Moss Is Taking Over Paris Fashion Week the Way Only Kate Moss Can

Kate Moss is pretty much the belle of the ball wherever she goes, and Paris Fashion Week is no exception. The stunning supermodel arrived in her usual laid-back glamour to runway shows this week, and of course, all eyes were on her. On Tuesday, she sat front row for the Saint Laurent show with actor and director Vincent Gallo, and she was spotted making her way through the chilly city in a leopard-print coat on Wednesday.

Before popping up in Paris, Kate popped out of a cake to celebrate her longtime friend Mert Alas's birthday in London (as one does). Keep reading to see Kate keeping the party going in the City of Light.

Bachelor Fans, It Sounds Like We're in For One Wild Season Finale

Chris Harrison may be the host who cried "most dramatic," but he's promised this season of The Bachelor will end with a shocking finale. If Arie's comments about the season are any indication, it sounds like Harrison might not be exaggerating this time.

Becca and Lauren B. are the final two women competing for Arie's heart, and he's already told both women that he's in love with them. History (aka Ben Higgins's season) tells us that multiple L-bombs will spark a controversy or two, and fans got a hint that some serious drama is on the horizon courtesy of Caroline. During "The Women Tell All" episode, she called Arie out for his behavior, saying, "I know what you did, and I don't know how you could do that. I just really don't understand, but I hope you found what you're looking for." Yikes.

So what, exactly, did Arie do? Caroline didn't reveal specific details on air, but she told E! News that she was sticking up for a friend, saying, "I needed to have that best-friend moment where you're like, 'Hey, I know what you did. Screw you.'" We'll get to see exactly what she's talking about when we tune in to the finale next week, but Caroline told The Hollywood Reporter "it was so much worse than anything, ever, in Bachelor history." She said, "I feel like it is probably the worst heartbreak in the show's history."

Arie has also dropped hints about what's to come in the season finale. "I made a mistake," he told People. "And I'm prepared for the backlash. But all I can say is I had to follow my heart."

Ladies and gentlemen, will this truly be the most dramatic season of The Bachelor yet?

Why The Name of the Wind Will Be the Next Game of Thrones

I've never tried heroin. But the reason it's addicting is because users are always chasing after that first, and best, high. The problem is they're working with the same substance over and over again. For book-lovers, we are fortunate enough to have a different substance each time. In each read, there's always the chance that we'll get lost in the pages, have an experience we've never had before, and won't be able to put the book down. And for lifelong readers, this is always what we're hoping for when we buy our next book.

For me, The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss was one of those experiences.

While I read widely now, I grew up on a steady diet of fantasy novels by authors like Tolkien and Lewis to Terry Brooks and Robert Jordan. And like any fan, I have enjoyed George R.R. Martin's series A Song of Ice and Fire. Now, with Martin's novels launching fantasy epics into mainstream popularity with the HBO series Game of Thrones, Martin has paved ground for more to rise up just like it. But nothing has quite been able to follow.

Enter Patrick Rothfuss, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and the next big thing in fantasy. With a forthcoming movie, TV series, and video game produced by Lionsgate, here are three reasons I think The Name of the Wind is primed to take the throne after Game of Thrones.

A Unique and Excellent Fantasy Epic

First and foremost is the quality of the story and the characters. If you're a fiction reader, you've probably heard of The Name of the Wind; if you're a fantasy enthusiast, then you definitely have. It's a first-person account of one young man's journey of revenge. OK, there's a lot more to it than that. It's an excellently written story with characters that you just want to hang out with in a fantastical world that is - and isn't at all - similar to Westeros. In the fantasy genre, this series stands out for its style, characters, magic system, and world-building. If you haven't read it yet, get on it!

An Avid Fan Base

Like Martin's books, Rothfuss has built for himself legions of fans. According to a 2015 article in Forbes, his novels have sold more than 10 million copies. His events are frequently packed, with hour-long book-signing lines. There's been countless cosplaying, fan art, and fan fiction, and this year he released a 10th-anniversary edition of The Name of the Wind. All this to say: fantasy fans are some of the most enthusiastic fans in the world, and there's no doubt they're primed for a Name of the Wind takeover.

Lin-Manuel Miranda

Excellent novels; a drooling fan base; a movie, TV, and video game deal - this story is only missing one thing. And you're all thinking it: Lin-Manuel Miranda. Lately, everything the writer/actor/singer touches seems to turn to gold, from Disney's Moana to his Pulitzer Prize-winning Hamilton. Fans worried about an adaptation of The Name of the Wind must have breathed a collective sigh of relief when Lin-Manuel Miranda stepped in as "chairman of the Don't F*ck It Up Committee." According to Variety, he'll "serve as producer of the franchise and is expected to compose the original music and write the songs."

Don't get me wrong here: I don't want to claim that The Name of the Wind adaptations will attempt to copy or be anything like Game of Thrones. The story and characters and style are vastly different. Each has its own unique qualities. The Name of the Wind will be a completely new experience. But with the growing excitement for the fantasy genre stirred up by Martin and HBO, it seems like the perfect time for the next big fantasy obsession to take the media by storm. And I say "storm" because with wonderfully imaginative stories, with fans that will show up and dress up, and with a creative (Pulitzer Prize-winning) team, The Name of the Wind has all the ingredients for a perfect fantasy hurricane. So hold your breath, keep an eye on the news, and, in the meantime, go read the series!

Quentin Tarantino's Manson Murders Movie Now Has a Title and Brad Pitt!

Image Source: Getty / Kevin Winter

It's clear by now that Quentin Tarantino isn't afraid of diving into some pretty gory, gruesome stories, and his next project only further confirms it. In July 2017, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Tarantino is in the early stages of putting together a film described as "a unique take on the Manson Family murders." Here are the scraps of information we've been able to pull together so far:

The Production Team

The drama, which would be his follow-up to 2015's The Hateful Eight, will be called Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and a source confirmed that Tarantino has already penned the script for Sony and will direct. The movie is being produced by Tarantino, Harry Potter's David Heyman, and Shannon McIntosh, with Georgia Kacandes serving as executive producer.

The Cast

On the casting front, THR confirmed that Inglourious Basterds alum Brad Pitt will play stunt double Cliff Booth, and longtime Tarantino collaborator Samuel L. Jackson will likely play a lead in the film as well, Deadline reports. Jennifer Lawrence has also been approached, but apparently she's not being considered for the role of Sharon Tate (the pregnant actress murdered by members of Charles Manson's cult). Instead, it seems Tarantino has his eye on Margot Robbie for that role. Hopefully they can finagle the movie's production schedule around her work in the upcoming Harley Quinn spin-off, because she seems like a spot-on choice.

Although Tom Cruise is reportedly still being considered for Manson, THR revealed that Leonardo DiCaprio will be playing the role of struggling actor Rick Dalton (Pitt's character is his stunt double). According to Tarantino, "Both are struggling to make it in a Hollywood they don't recognize anymore. But Rick has a very famous next-door neighbor . . . Sharon Tate." The decision seems pretty fitting, considering how great DiCaprio and Tarantino worked together on 2012's Django Unchained. We can bet he'll deliver a standout performance. After all, it will be the actor's first film since winning an Oscar for The Revenant in 2016.

In a statement, Tarantino said, "I've been working on this script for five years, as well as living in Los Angeles County most of my life, including in 1969, when I was seven years old. I'm very excited to tell this story of an LA and a Hollywood that don't exist anymore. And I couldn't be happier about the dynamic teaming of DiCaprio & Pitt as Rick & Cliff."

The Story

Script details are still very much under wraps, but the script is a "Pulp Fiction-esque movie set during the time of the Manson murder spree in Los Angeles," according to Deadline. That definitely makes it seem like the infamous murder itself will be more of a backdrop to the actual story, even if Sharon Tate and Charles Manson make appearances.

Tate, the Hollywood actress and pregnant wife of famed (and disgraced) director Roman Polanski, was brutally murdered by the followers of cult leader Manson in August 1969. Tate and four other people - Wojciech Frykowski, Abigail Folger, Jay Sebring, and Steven Parent - were staying at Polanski's LA home in Benedict Canyon when Manson followers Tex Watson, Susan Atkins, Patricia Krenwinkel, and Linda Kasabian broke in and savagely murdered them with guns and knives. Tate was eight months pregnant at the time, adding an even more tragic touch to the already disturbing case.

A few months later, Manson and his followers were arrested for auto theft, including Atkins, who later told her cellmate that she was responsible for Tate's death "because we wanted to do a crime that would shock the world, that the world would have to stand up and take notice." By 1971, Manson and a few members of his following were sentenced to life in prison for the Benedict Canyon murders.

The Premiere Date

Deadline reports that Once Upon a Time in Hollywood will hit theaters on Aug. 9, 2019, which is the 50th anniversary of Sharon Tate's death. Talk about macabre.

I Didn't Eat Dinner For 1 Week and This Is What Happened to My Belly

My almost-nine-month intermittent fasting (IF) journey has been life-changing. Who knew not eating breakfast would make me feel so energized, more focused, and less bloated, as well as help me sleep better and lose that extra baby weight I had been holding onto for years? I love that it gives me the freedom to eat bigger meals and to eat what I want. Sticking with IF has been a no-brainer.

Before

The only issue is, as you can see from the above photo, even though I've kept up with my workouts, I've been chowing on a little too much during my eating window and I've gained a few extra pounds. While intermittent fasting helps me keep my calories in check throughout the day, over the last month, I got in the habit of overeating at dinner.

Not only could I see it in my belly - the first place I tend to gain weight - but I felt so uncomfortably bloated. Stomach pains were keeping me up at night, and feeling bloated in the morning made it hard to push myself during my 5:45 a.m. CrossFit classes. Another side effect: I was feeling super hungry a couple hours earlier than I normally would the next day.

After

I had to make a change. After talking with fellow POPSUGAR Fitness editor Gina Florio, who also does intermittent fasting but eats between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., I decided to switch up my eating window. Instead of skipping breakfast, I was going to skip dinner and see how I felt.

Instead of eating from noon to 7 p.m., I ate from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., keeping up with the seven-hour eating window that worked for me. Here's what I ate:

9:00 a.m.: Overnight oats with peanut butter, chia seeds, pecans, and blueberries or a protein smoothie with a homemade granola bar
1:00 p.m.: Big kale salad with tofu, chickpeas, sunflower seeds, and avocado
3:30 p.m.: Banana with nut butter or Kite Hill almond milk yogurt with berries and nuts

The first three days were f*cking hard. It was weird to eat before noon after not eating breakfast for almost nine months. I hated how foggy-headed I was and how low-energy I felt from digesting.

Here's the part that sucked the most. Having two young kids, family dinner time is everything. I absolutely love cooking and creating nourishing meals. I love sitting around the dinner table, sharing a warm home-cooked meal, talking about our days, laughing, and just enjoying the one time we can all be together during the day that isn't rushed. I was still able to chat with everyone, but sitting there with a cup of tea and an empty plate just wasn't the same. I wasn't prepared for how sad I'd feel missing out. I wasn't hungry at all - I was just sad.

Physically, I did feel much better. Falling asleep was more challenging, since I felt a little hungry and daydreaming about food kept me up. But since I wasn't overeating at night, I had no more evening bloating and I slept well. When I woke up at 5 a.m. to go to the gym, I was unusually starving, though. Hunger pangs went away after I started the workout, but I felt a little less energized to push myself.

I could not wait to go back to my old eating window of skipping breakfast. It just works better with my life and feels way more effortless, so it's something I can maintain. This one-week challenge did teach me a thing or two about controlling my overeating issues, though.

Missing out on family dinner time has reminded me why it's so damn important. I've been putting less food on my plate and really focusing on talking more and eating slower. I realized that much of my overeating happens after dinner is over. So now I don't finish what my kids didn't eat and I put away the leftovers before we start eating so I'm not tempted just to grab extra spoonfuls of pasta or soup just because it's there. I've also stopped nibbling on food while making the kids' lunches for the next day.

Although I loved how amazing my belly felt (and looked) after skipping dinner, there is no way in hell I could maintain this and still be happy. I'll never skip dinner again! If you're going to try intermittent fasting, find an eating window that works with your life. It should be effortless. If it's not, you're not doing it right.

9 Travel Mistakes to Stop Making Once You Hit 30

Life changes when you hit 30 - in a good way. When I turned 30, I felt like I really settled into myself and my life. I learned to live with things I didn't like in my 20s (myself, mostly), and I learned to let go and just really live. I also have made new promises to myself for when I travel, and a lot of them revolve around spending a little extra money here and there to travel more comfortably. Sure, travel is about going outside your comfort zone, but I'd rather not spend extra time in an airport or on public transportation if I don't need to. I want to be on my vacation, not spending forever getting to it. So, friends, if you're in your 30s or very near that point in your life, take my advice and do these nine things to enrich your vacation.

I Tried CBD Oil to Calm My Nerves While Flying, and This Is What Happened

I have such an intense love/hate relationship with flying. I think flying is one of the coolest experiences, but it still absolutely terrifies me for reasons that make no sense whatsoever. While in flight, I go through several routines that help calm my nerves, and if any of it is thrown out of whack, I find myself having a near meltdown. But at the advice of POPSUGAR Fitness editor Dominique Astorino, who used CBD oil for anxiety, I decided to try it on my last batch of flights to see how it would work for me.

My CBD oil of choice was Diamond CBD oil in cotton candy flavor, because I'm nothing if not a child at heart. Over the course of four flights, I experimented with how much I used and when to see if I could find the magic formula. I opted to fully use it as a tincture, as that is the easiest for me to do while traveling. But, rather than drop it into any liquid, I put it straight in my mouth for efficiency.

Flight 1: New York to Denver

Because of poor planning on my part, I got to the airport much later than I wanted to for this flight, which meant I didn't take my CBD oil until I'd already boarded the plane. I opted to do two nearly full pumps of the dropper because I tend to be fairly resistant to CBD and THC and I wanted to really relax. About an hour into the flight, I started to feel slightly tired but not drowsy and pretty relaxed. Overall, the flight was pretty calm, but once we were coming into Denver, which is never fun, I was hyperaware of everything, and the CBD had no effect at that point.

Flight 2: Denver to San Francisco

I had a very short layover in Denver and wasn't sure if I should try topping off my earlier dose of CBD, but I went for it, because, again, Denver airport problems. I only used one dropper full this time, and it was about five hours after my previous dose and about 30 minutes before my flight. Our takeoff was terrible, so I would have loved to be relaxed, but this time I felt no effects of the CBD oil other than my palms feeling extra sweaty. The relaxation reached me later in the flight, but at that point, I didn't feel like I needed it as much.

Flight 3: Los Angeles to Denver

Poor planning on my part resulted in me flying through Denver again to come back home, despite how much anxiety the flight route gives me. But I was better prepared on the CBD front this time, which was a very good thing when I realized that a lot of my usual comforts during a flight were going to be taken from me. I checked into my Southwest flight far later than I usually do and was stuck with a bad boarding spot, which meant no window. Then the passenger who had the window seat of my row closed the shade, and I actually wanted to panic. Luckily, I had taken three droppers full of CBD oil about 45 minutes prior to this and had already started to feel drowsy. Despite being very uncomfortable during the entire flight, the CBD absolutely helped to calm me down.

Flight 4: Denver to New York

I finally got it right for the fourth flight. After another layover in Denver, where I topped up on the CBD with another two droppers, I was actually able to nod off during the flight. It's extremely rare for me to feel calm and comfortable enough during a flight to actually fall asleep, so this was a bit of a miracle.

Overall, I would recommend this particular CBD oil for anyone who is a nervous traveler. The percentage of CBD in the oil is low enough to make it legal to purchase, carry, and use, but it's still concentrated enough to give you the calming effects. The small bottles are actually perfect for travel, because they meet TSA requirements for the amount of liquid you're allowed to bring on a plane. However, all that being said, make sure to read the instructions that come with any CBD or hemp products you purchase and adjust accordingly to see what will work for you.
